Speaker 1: Hey, let's talk Phillies and we're going to get into how things have turned around significantly for them. But we welcome in Charlotte Barnes joining us for the first time on FT and you can follow all of her coverage in The Athletic on the Phillies.

00:00:19
Speaker 2: Charlotte, it's great to have you on.

00:00:20
Speaker 1: I've been reading all of your articles on the Alec Boeme situation too, so I've really been interested in the coverage that you're bringing there. Thanks for joining us, and can you lay out for our audience some of what's going on there that could be leading to some distractions for him and causing some performance issues too.

00:00:38
Speaker 3: Yeah, thanks for having me. It has been a complicated, I would say month plus saga legally for Alec Boem. So March twenty fifth, just a head opening day, he files a lawsuit in Philadelphia against his parents, alleging financial mismanagement. It all comes back to these LLC's. They created a couple LC's when you first got drafted, another couple a few years ago, and essentially what he is alleging is that the money that was moved into those LLCs. Yes, some of his parents invested on his behalf and used to pay his bills. A large sum he's alleging was taken and has been used by his parents for what he doesn't know, So it all comes back to that. He's filed a few different documents. He filed for an injunction essentially requesting that his parents return five hundred and twenty eight thousand dollars that they took. He alleges it is for legal war chest. They took this money a couple months ago, or about a month and a half ago, and he's alleging they're going to use it to fund their legal expenses. They're alleging they're going to use it to pay the bills from the money that he took out of these LLCs. The latest and that they filed a few days ago, he shows that he has five million dollars in one of these accounts attached to the LLCs, so he would have no trouble paying his bills. So right now it's a lot of back and forth. On June twenty second, I believe they are going to meet with Philadelphia Courts in a zoom room to then set the date for a hearing, and then maybe we'll have a decision on an injunction, So just a lot of legal back and forth.

00:02:09
Speaker 4: Charlotte, have we ever heard of anything like this before? I mean, I'm sure this has happened before, but have we heard of another player having an issue like this, especially so publicly with their parents. I know it's happened, but this is like the most public one I've ever heard of.

00:02:25
Speaker 3: Yeah. I mean I'm pretty young, so I can't exactly remember what happened with Ryan Howard and his parents, but that a lot of people brought up that example, or Jack Johnson in the NHL, which I wasn't familiar with. He's also had legal troubles with his parents. But yeah, in recent years, really in the past decade, this is the only thing I can think about.

00:02:45
Speaker 5: And you kind of laid out the timeline. Do you have dates as far as the timeline, because if we're going to eventually correlate this to how Alec is playing on the field, Philly fans need to be like, we need to settled right now, like it's if this is bothering him. So is there like normal dates of when this could be, like each step could happen.

00:03:08
Speaker 3: Yeah, So I think it's tricky in that they're not meeting until June twenty seconds, so that's a month and a half from now, and that's only to decide a date for the hearing, and the hearing presumably they'll get a decision on the injunction and whether Alec will get his money back. And also part of it is that his parents are seeking to move this Florida. They believe because it's LLC's that were created in Florida, it should go through arbitration there instead of going through trial in Pennsylvania, which they are arguing is just not the right venue for it because a lot of this happened in Florida. All the bones are legal residents there, So if it gets moved into arbitration, eventually this could all take place out of the public eye, which I think all of the parties involved in the mean. I mean, I think Alec wants it to take place in Pennsylvania, but I think they would all love this to be playing out a lot more privately. But yeah, in terms of the timeline, it's tricky. This could be playing out for months. I will say, like people close to the situation have said they feel like he processed a lot of this because a lot of this was taking place during spring training in terms of him reaching out to his parents wanting to know more about his accounts, and a lot was unfolding then rather than during the season. I mean, obviously the news coverage and all of these updates were taking place during the season, but people closed him kind of felt like he has processed it and kind of put it away at the moment.

00:04:23
Speaker 6: Does he talk about it, Charlotte? Does he does? Boom?

00:04:26
Speaker 4: If you go up to Alec and say, Alec, I want to ask you a question about this, does he talk about it or is it all just no comment, no comments, legal situation.

00:04:36
Speaker 3: Yeah, it's no comment. He was asked about it as soon as it came out, and I mean the story the Inquirer road dropped middle of the game on opening day, so that was not great timing. So he hits a home run all opening day and is asked about it after because of course, and he says no comment and yes, as far as I know, for the foreseeable future, he does not want to talk about it.

00:04:54
Speaker 4: Do you imagine can anyone imagine, though, I just I mean, can you imagine Scott and Eric to play a baseball season and also at the same time having a lawsuit against your mom and dad or someone who you've probably leaned on your entire life. I can't even imagine what he's going through his numbers. Aside the baseball I'm just talking about as a person in general, Cheryl. You you don't play baseball. Can you imagine waking up one day and saying, mom, Dad, by the way, I'm suing you for stealing money allegedly from me. I can't even imagine having that weighing over me. Forget trying to play baseball with it weighing over me.

00:05:26
Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean in his parents filing a couple of weeks ago, there were one hundred and four pages of text messages between him and his parents. And even reading that, I mean, imagine your parents putting out one hundred and four pages of text messages between you and them. Like it's just all of this is so hard to fathom.

00:05:45
Speaker 5: Are his teammates, I know his teammates, and all you hear about is the Phillies Clubhouse, Like this is the time when I think the Phillies Clubhouse really needs to back him. Are his teammates speaking about it at all? Or is it just the same tight lips no comment.

00:06:01
Speaker 3: They haven't really spoken about it at all. I think, just in terms of Alec, they've just sort of talked about the difficulties he's been having on the field because I think they've been asked about it. I know, a few weeks ago, Alec had a pretty tough night and he ends up sitting next to Schwarbur and Schwarber ends up comforting him. And I think his teammates have tried to be with him in that way. I mean, I saw Dave Dombrowski kind of hug him a couple of weeks ago. I think everyone's trying to support him. And I mean when Rob was the manager, he said, look like I've be't talked about this with Alec, but my door is always open. And I think for the most part, like Alec, Boehm is well known for airing his frustrations out publicly in the past, and everyone's seen that. But I mean, the hitting coach told me, the manager said, like they said, they're not seeing that level of frustration right now from him. It seems like he's pretty even keeled and he's not really talking about it. So when the coaches and players are short talking about this, they're talking about in the light if he's struggling on the field more so than what's happening off the field.

00:06:58
Speaker 5: What about what about with coming in as Don Mattingly coming in as a new manager. Does there seem like there's a different air about not necessarily just this situation, but the fact that now we're just looking at on the field. And Don came out the other day and he said what he said about I think Alec is gonna be there. But do you think if he's still struggling in X amount of time they do look to make a move with an ed Mundo Sosa or possibly at Mundo at second and Stod at third, or is there do they even have an option if they go to that direction.

00:07:36
Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean I think Sosa playing third and stop playing second would probably be the right move should they go that way. I mean, right now, down's like, like you said, pretty publicly committing to playing Bam and letting him play through this. But I mean, at this time he's just really not helping the team. I mean, last night you look at like that was the first time he was pinched hit four. Unless we're talking a blowout, we're talking an injury. That was the first time he was like ever or pinch hit four in his career in that circumstance, And I think that kind of shows where things are right now. They can't really trust him in those late game situations, and I would not be surprised if things keep trending this way, if they turn to Sosa at third. I mean, it just feels like, especially with everything he's been going through, just giving him a few days on the bench honestly might just let him clear his head and maybe he's a different guy when he comes back from that.

00:08:27
Speaker 6: Let's talk love life ft family.

00:08:29

And we can expand this now into the larger conversation on what you're seeing differently from the Phillies. Now the classic question versus when Rob Thompson was managing this team, all of a sudden, it's coming together, Bryson Stott can hit, Bryce Harper, elevating his game, Christopher Sanchez, I mean continuing to impress, but was dominant. So what are you seeing from this team that looks different as a whole. Is it just a matter of a few more bats getting hot.

00:09:54
Speaker 3: Yeah, I think that's part of it. And I think a huge thing is the starting pitching. I mean there was just like some explicit, inexplicable bad luck. I mean that everyone talks about the but BIP in the first week or a few weeks of the season, and I mean you look at Jesus Luzardo had a great start in Miami on Sunday, Christopher Sanchez was excellent the other night. I mean, they were one of the last teams in baseball to have a starter go seven innings, and finally Lozardo did it last week, and I think that's been huge, having him go that deep, having Christopher Sanchez go that deep, and having them pull it together, because the rotation is really just the It's the strongest part of this team, no doubt. And I think when you had them struggling at the beginning of the season, along with a lot of the bats, it just it really was an issue. And then yeah, you're right, you're right about the bats getting hot, and I think they've They're also just they're playing a lot better in these late game situations where last year, remember toward the end of the season, it felt like anything could happen. I mean those last couple of months, it just felt like, yeah, the Phillies could be down like two or three runs in the last few winnings and I would not count them out in any circumstance. Meanwhile, I was on that road trip and Chicago. Aside from their last game in Chicago where they kind of fought and they sent it to extras like they just looked dead in the water, and I just there, they've looked a lot more clutch, essentially. I I really trust their ability to come back in these circumstances. Were even just two weeks ago, you could tell they were playing really tight and we're really stressed out, and they're they're looking a lot better in those situations.

00:11:21
Speaker 4: Now, all right, Charlie, before I let you go, I just before I we can move on, what did you call it? Because that's the way I'm gonna start saying it for now. When it was what did you call it? The BIP, I'm gonna start calling it but bim, Yes, I love it. That was awesome.

00:11:35
Speaker 6: I did too, But I love it. I love it, not.

00:11:39
Speaker 2: Even kidding, Charlotte, we're going to change that because I actually.

00:11:42
Speaker 6: Thought, wow, it was a little bit better.

00:11:43
Speaker 4: I thought it was awesome, but BIP because I had bibb and Bop for bibb and Bob for lunch today.

00:11:48
Speaker 6: So that's all that popped in my mind when she said it. So, but BIP, I love it close enough, So awesome.

00:11:56
Speaker 1: Nobody termed it like it's not a real that's the whole thing is like abip, right, so.

00:12:02
Speaker 3: And I don't want to spell it out and saying it is just like you be too.

00:12:05
Speaker 1: Long, I know, but it's not like when someone first said, like we shall call it babit, Like, no, you don't get to make that decision.

00:12:12
Speaker 2: So now now it's I mean.

00:12:15
Speaker 5: Somebody that has a great babip and is having a great start to the season, Brandon Marsh. Brandon Marsh actually has I think he has like twenty some at bats against lefties. Don Mattingly not afraid because he has the intern tag to say, you know what, Marsh, you're hot. You're gonna play against lefties and righties. Because I've seen the last few nights he's gotten at bats against lefties. They're not afraid to put him out there. Is that part of just him being hot or is that part of the Don Mattingly saying I see that he's hot, and I don't really care. We're gonna put whoever's out there that's gonna be hot.

00:12:52
Speaker 3: Yeah, I think that's exactly it. I mean, he has just been phenomenal to start the season. I mean three for four last night with a triple. It's just been really hot so far. And I think part of that too is just the outfield has been sort of confounding, and when you when you have someone in the outfield who you can trust to play every day. I think that's why they're moving forward Brandon that way, and I think like there they trust him a little bit more becau obviously he's been around. I think they're protecting Justin Crawford a little bit right now because they don't want him playing every day against lefties at this time, just because he's really early in his career. They just want to protect.

00:13:28
Speaker 6: Him in that way.

00:13:29
Speaker 3: And I think having sort of an everyday option in the outfield has been beyond Aduli Scarcia has been huge, because I mean, it's it's just been it's it's been a really weird start for the Phillies outfield. When you have Felix ray Is in his second career game hitting cleanup, like that's sort of indicative on where things are.

00:13:49
Speaker 6: All right.

00:13:49
Speaker 5: So my last one was something that was brought up by Kevin Long when they're in their struggles. One of the reasons that Kevin Long said that they weren't able to hit lefties early in the season, was because they didn't have a left handed pitcher to throw to him to throw to their hitters. Has there been any follow up with that or is it something that's kind of been forgotten the fact that, ah, well, now they brought somebody in And did the players ever react to his comment about that when they were struggling.

00:14:21
Speaker 3: Yeah, so that that was said to me, and Rob was asked about it the next day and he immediately shut that down as like not being the reason why they were struggling. I mean, it's it's an interesting excuse, I'll say that, but as far as I know, the players didn't really react to it, and I mean it is just like it. Yeah, it is a really interesting excuse. But it's just interesting as well, because I mean, when you're at home, obviously traject exists. Obviously they don't have traject on the road. Some of these guys don't even want like a lefty bpe BP header throwing to them or pitcher throwing to them. So I yeah, there wasn't really any reaction beyond that. Personally, I don't know how much of that I would I would say, is why they weren't really hitting lefties. But yeah, it was an interesting comment. There really hasn't been much follow up. They're they're hitting theft lefties a little bit better now, and I I'll be curious to see if I should follow up on that and see what people say.

00:15:23
Speaker 1: Hey, my last one is about don Mattingly and if it seems like he's enjoying this. And I haven't been to a Phillies game as a media member in the past week and a half while this team's gone what eight and one with Donnie, so the winning helps, But do you think that he's enjoying this. I don't know if he had the thoughts of being in this spot, and if he did, I don't know if he thought he was going to be in this spot in you know what, late April taking over a team to essentially be their manager for the entire year. So what are you seeing and hearing from him?

00:15:54
Speaker 3: Yeah? I mean he was asked about that right away because he essentially said I don't want to ever manage again when they hired him, and here we are, And I think part of the reason it sounds like he said that was because he didn't want anyone to think he was there to like take over for Rob. That's not why they hired him. They hired him to be a veteran voice. And I think the players have really appreciated that. Everyone sort of loved having a former player and a former player of his stature on staff. But I get the sense that he's really enjoying it. He is super active. I mean in terms of like our media availabilities, like it's it was common with Rob. Rob will come talk to us like right after the clubhouse closed, whereas with Dawn. He wants to see all the work in the infield before he comes talked up talks to us, and he loves working in the infield. He said something funny the other day because like someone was asking him about it, and he was like, yeah, I'm trying to get all the sixty five year olds out there. I'm trying to stay active. So go sixty five year olds. We all should be staying active. Just because of all the work he's doing in the.

00:16:50
Speaker 4: Field, Charlotte, is there any good stories between him and Preston yet, Like where he's working for his son, so he is done his son had to I mean they're obviously so I guess not. But what happens when something goes wrong, is Preston gonna come down and yell at down and be like, Dad, you're doing this wrong.

00:17:10
Speaker 3: I don't think either of them would love that scenario, but yeah, something like Don was obviously asked about it, and he said, I don't think there are gonna be any issues going forward because at the end of the day, like he wants to win, Preston wants to win, Dave wants to win, Everyone wants to win. And I mean, like, if a circumstance like that arrived, I think it'd probably be fair for Dave to be handling that because Dave is over Preston any ways and is obviously not related to Don. But yeah, Don did not seem concerned about how things are going to be going forward, just because they're working toward the same goal.

00:17:43
Speaker 4: Charlotte, last thing before we let you go. When you go into the dining room, are you happy or sad that they move Frankie two scoops from his normal corner? They gave him a whole station now, and then what is your go to flavor when you go in there? Because nobody can go in there because Frankie literally you walk in there, he just hands you ice cream. You can't even say no, it's just here's ice cream. Here's my pick of the day. So what's your go to flavor?

00:18:07
Speaker 3: Okay, last night I got the watermelon water ice which they don't usually have, but I did like that, or I'll do I like coconut. He's had that recently. But yeah, it's been weird. I don't really know what they're doing with the space where he used to work, but it's like kind of funny because well, like last night, we were eating dinner right in front of him, and he likes to jump into our conversations, and last night I saw the Yeah, of course, this was a great move by A's PR head Mark Ling. He brought Frank an A's hat last night because he apparently grew up a Phi Philadelphia A's fan. And then Frank started to tell me about the nineteen fifty four A's which is just crazy, but obviously he's a Phillies fan now. But I thought that was a nice move by A'SPR and I got a photo of him with the hat and I think you got it.

00:18:52
Speaker 6: That's awesome.

00:18:53
Speaker 4: He gave me three scoops. He gave me three scoops. Last time, by the way, I was too much.

00:18:58
Speaker 3: It's always too much.

00:19:00
Speaker 5: It's perfect amount. There's no such thing as too much ice cream.

00:19:04
Speaker 6: There is not.

00:19:05
Speaker 5: I took my boys up to the press box and he would just absolutely. They're like, oh, He's like, oh, make a milkshake. And all he did was fill the milkshake cup full of ice cream, and he put a straw in and he like mixed it around a little bit. He goes, probably not a milkshake, but enjoy it was all ice cream.

00:19:22
Speaker 6: Frankie's the man so funny.

00:19:24
Speaker 2: I think.

00:19:25
Speaker 3: We've gotten really good cookies in the press box now, Like the cookies they're serving are good. So if I have one of those and then frank gives me a lot of ice cream, I'm like, I just it's so sugary. I can't be doing all that.

00:19:36
Speaker 4: And he has all the toppings now too. He has a little card. He has all the toppings. Before he didn't have toppings. Now he's got all the toppings. You're like, Frank, I cannot do this every day.

00:19:46
Speaker 3: Probably he gives you so much ice cream it doesn't fit in the cup. You can't put the toppings on.

00:19:50
Speaker 6: True, that's true, you need towo cups. You need a bigger cup.

00:19:54
Speaker 2: Life's so tough. Too much ice cream from Frankie in the press box. I mean, maybe he.

00:19:58
Speaker 1: Should open up his own spot on the concourse, a little concession stands frank two spot, because he's given away too much.

00:20:06
Speaker 2: You're right.

00:20:08
Speaker 3: I'm always stunned by how obsessed the fans are with him, like they they love him. Any photo we post of frank the fans are so excited to see him because I guess.

00:20:15
Speaker 6: They never see him, so I agree.

00:20:17
Speaker 2: Yeah, right, he's a legend.

00:20:19
Speaker 1: You can't Usually there's you know, people like that at the ballpark, but you can say hi to them or whatever. This is someone who's essentially not accessible to the fans. So kids, if you'd like to meet him someday, then become a journalist and you can get in there and get two, three or four scoops. Well, Charlotte, this was great. Hope you enjoyed it. Thank you so much for joining us. Appreciate it.

00:20:39
Speaker 3: Yeah, thanks for having me.

00:20:40
Speaker 2: Guys.

00:20:43
Speaker 1: You know, we don't always have to do things because that's how it's always been.

00:20:47
Speaker 4: Look, people consider me old school, and I thought I was, but then we had the pitch clock and the abs and ban on shifts and all these things that we've had for a long time in baseball. And you know what, much like mitt Mobile and the other mobile carriers, I'm here for the new school and the changes that have been made.

00:21:02
Speaker 6: It's a good call.

00:21:03

So this is an interesting why I figure this was right up your ally. Aj Vegas Insider did a pretty comprehensive report on fans online speak negatively or positively about their teams and also speaking with foul language or clean language. So according to analysis from them, and they used Reddit of subredit channels that are kind of super fan channels for teams. They looked at one point two sixty four million comments. That's a nice sample size. That's the way that they were able to put this together. Thirty subreddits, so the thirty MLB teams, and they looked for comments that had swear words, they looked for comments that had positivity. They were able to put it through. Of course, I'm sure some ai the whole deal. So in total, out of those comments, they found fifty two three hundred and thirteen swear words out of about one point two sixty four million. And here are the top offenders. Number one, the Athletics as fans checked in at six percent six point zero three percent. Number two, most foul mouthed not really teams, but fans their team, The Red Sox Angels were three Yankees for Twins five. I mean, I've got some surprises right from the jump here aj Twins fans at five. I guess because of what they've gotten through with the ownership rug and how they thought they were going to get a new team and then it didn't work out.

00:23:21
Speaker 2: But your thoughts on the top five, hold on, I'm not hearing you. Dude one sick.

00:23:35
Speaker 6: You're back, Oh we got you. I didn't do anything. Day's fans don't surprise me.

00:23:42
Speaker 4: I mean, I played in Oakland for a long time and they were also mad that their team left. So I'm sure there was a lot of cursing certain people out in that Red Sox. Not a surprise we all have. They're not called the mass holes for nothing. Out there, you know, they're also very passionate. Angels kind of surprised me a little bit because you always think, oh, no one really cares that much about the Angels are kind of down there in Anaheim. But that wan't surprise me. The Yankee is not a surprise. If you've ever been to New York and try to drive or try to walk, there's a lot of cursing. But Twins and Angels are the two that really stand out, especially the Twins. What happened to Minnesota?

00:24:12
Speaker 5: Nice?

00:24:13
Speaker 4: Everyone in Minnesota is always usually so nice, but apparently the poll AADs and the Twins and the way they're playing has.

00:24:18
Speaker 6: Gotten people all riled up. So those two surprised me. The other three do not.

00:24:23
Speaker 1: Yeah, I think you have to factor in what the online conversation is a lot of the online conversation for the A's is about the team moving.

00:24:33
Speaker 2: So the oda's.

00:24:34
Speaker 1: Fans that are in that group are going to flood it and they're going to be ticked. Same with the Twins fans, Same with the Angels fans, and then Yankees red Sox. Kind of makes sense just based on Northeast people cursing here. Can I throw you a shacker on the other end of the spectrum, This was probably the shocker of the entire study, the fourth most polite team. If we're able to go to the most polite list there it is. So I'll give you one through five because I want to lay it out for the crowd listening on podcasts later on Cardinals one not surprised, Midwest nice Orioles, two Nationals three not surprised, mid Atlantic nice Phillies, four Tigers five from the Surprise Phillies four AJ Phillies fans.

00:25:25
Speaker 2: Top five.

00:25:26
Speaker 4: I think they used because just because they didn't curse maybe on there reddit, but the Tigers two five polite. I would have thought it would have been the opposite would have been Twins versus and the Tigers fans would have gone on the other side because I usually got more vitriol in Detroit than I did in Minnesota. I mean forgetting that wasn't my fault, guys, but blame Terry Ryan. But yeah, the Phillies polite, like have anyone ever been to a Phillies game. I mean, Cardinals, sure, they give a standing ovation to everybody, Orioles now, it's fine, but the Phillies at four, I mean, they just must not cuss when they write their little chat things.

00:26:03
Speaker 6: They must just cuss in real life.

00:26:05
Speaker 2: Yeah.

00:26:05
Speaker 1: I respect the process and how many comments they were able to dig into, but it is heavily shifted towards where the teams are at. And I know that's not a completely fair cross examination based on the Yankees and Red Sox playing pretty well over the past year and the Red Sox not this year, of course, but this study mostly had to do with beginning of last season up to this season, right up to really the beginning of this season. So if you're a Phillies fan last year, you were pretty happy. During the regular season, team looked good, you had some heartbreak in the playoffs. To me, aj, you're not getting the same ticked off comments that would lead to the cursing.

00:26:46
Speaker 2: The cursing is often leading.

00:26:48
Speaker 4: To twenty fifteen, Go to twenty fifteen, twenty four when they were terrible for the Yeah, exactly, they were.

00:26:57
Speaker 6: They were awful. I mean, I don't know.

00:27:00
Speaker 4: I look at it more of like when I think about teams I played against and the fans and the way they reacted. Like Mariners fans never really had much reaction to a lot of stuff. Rockies fans never really cared, you know, Orioles. There was never a ton of fans there, So that was it was. It was weird because Paul Park was beautiful and they weren't. They weren't very good a lot for a long time. Nationals were good when I played against them, so they were always happy. Yeah, I mean, I mean Yankees, Red Sox, Oakland A's Rais fans were always super nice. I can't I can't say anything about Rais fans. Blue Jays fans they were fine. I mean, it's it's different, I guess for players than it is for what they write in the chat rooms.

00:27:43
Speaker 1: Yeah, I'll give you the negative and the positive fandoms. So one had to do with language, and one had to do with positivity and negativity. So here is the most negative fandoms one through five in a study done from April of twenty five up until April of twenty twenty six.

00:27:59
Speaker 2: Right, Socks are one again. We have the Yankees and the Red Sox on here. Zero surprise. You have the a'son here. Number two. Yankees were three, Marlins are four, Mets are five.

00:28:11
Speaker 4: Not very surprised, Red Sox not a surprise. Sacramento Athletics not surprising because they're mad about the move. Yankees fans are just mad because they're rerunning the team again. But they're actually doing really well, so I can't you know.

00:28:22
Speaker 6: That's why.

00:28:23
Speaker 4: Marlins? What do they have to be negati about? They knew what they're getting into. It's been the same with the Marlins for years and the Mets right now. They're just negative because they stink. So I get most of this list. The Marlins, though, what are they negative about? They knew what they were having. What they expect the ownership group to go and spend millions and millions of dollars, They don't do that they just don't, so I don't know what they should be negative about.

00:28:42
Speaker 6: They got a nice stadium, they just go to it.

00:28:46
Speaker 2: Yeah, that one was surprising to see on there.

00:28:48
Speaker 1: I mean, I know there's frustration, but usually it's almost like quiet frustration. But they're going off percentages here, not quantity of comments. There's probably way less comments from the Marlins based on market size compared to Yankees, Red Sox, and also just how many fans they have.

00:29:04
Speaker 2: But I guess the ones that.

00:29:05
Speaker 1: Are there are not too pleased from last season heading into this season. And lastly, this plays exactly in to your point about Rockies fans. They are just loving life out there in Denver, even though the game got banged tonight because I think it's like freezing rain, you know, in early May out in Denver. But they were voted or they were ranked as the most positive fandom in baseball when they evaluated the blogs. Rockies won, Cardinals, two Nationals, three Pirates for Orioles five. I guess it's good living down in the Beltway too, huh.

00:29:42
Speaker 4: I mean, Rockies, it's because they're a mile high that they're positive and they have good beer in course field. Cardinals fans are positive about everything. Pirates fans are positive because they actually did spend some money this year, so that's good. Nationals Yeah, I mean, I guess they're hoping James would and those teams and then the Orioles.

00:30:03
Speaker 6: Yeah, I don't, I don't.

00:30:05
Speaker 4: Yeah, I guess because they're they're hope with hope, right, and those teams. A lot of those teams have hope, and hope is a good thing.

00:30:12
Speaker 1: Yeah, And most Orioles fans were, of course pretty perturbed last season, but then in the offseason, most of them were pretty pumped when they got peed Alonzo. So that's where you saw a lot of positivity. Good segment. Interesting. I'd like to look at these studies. There's some things that always shock the world. Yeah, exactly,
