All right, welcome back to another episode of five to twenty Films. We got a special guest today. We're introduced some last I'm your host, Coach Lou. We got Coach moved to the far left, to my right, we got Coach Jeff. Special guest today. We got Coach t and the bill. Now you're doing glad to be here. I even put on this move doctor love voice, How you were just talking? Ivery thought we'd get you out here. Man, we appreciate you for coming, I said, we started this, were just a bunch of old, washed up guys. Okay't hope no more. So we just man, it can be more watched. So I asked the guys, you know, were when they come in here? When did you know it was time to hang up the shoes? How old were. I think that I never really hung the shoes up, hanging, hanging, But yeah, those playing days if I was still playing in leagues and things not kind of like these guys are doing now. But I hung in there too, about forty around forty somewhere around that. Are you doing good? Yeah? I talked to mine was twenty four. Oh yeah, you had a bunch of injuries. Oh man, we got a highlights. Man, we wanted to start off with your junior year of high school in my state. Y'all lost this game. I know you just say you're starting now with the wrong highlights lost. I know, I know there's that much footage of you. I's one we can find that actually look look pretty decent. Oh, we're gonna go through it, and we're gonna kind of speaking. Yeah, we're gonna walk through it. As much as you picked my game apart. Yeah, let's watch this, let me see what's going. Let's start it off. It start off with the steal, head hands, head hands with the bunky. That's a euro set. Yeah, back in the day, you know the eurostep came from me past thing. Yeah, trying to make sure he okay, that's what we do. That's what we do. Yeah, they had you at the high post playing man. Look at you, big man left head. Man too quick, got that too quick? You see I checked that clock. Yeah, hit that. Big man. Maybe I shot it too soon. He had a chance to get back the other way to he we got brother law. He could he could fill that thing up. While you got twenty one on I thought it was twenty five. I changed it every couple of years. That jumped for a week. That jump. It's crazy. What it like? What's the flashbacks you haven't and watching and stuff like. Probably the I. Think the biggest piece was everywhere we played, and definitely when we played at home. Uh, we had to sell our crowds. We had over Yeah, we averaged over eight thousand fans a game. So you know, those are super numbers when you talk about this day and age for high. School for sure, sure, for sure. Yeah. So yeah, going back to your you know, your high school career, but even before that start off playing basketball. How old were you when you got started? Who kind of put the ball in your hand to get you going? Well, probably around probably about third second third grade. I started early, but I had some some excellent mentors. One was Terry May another out of Anderson and CHUCKI. Pugh who passed away several years back, but he's uh, those two guys I was really attached to, and they kind of had me playing basketball pretty much. I called it all three sports baseball, basketball, and football, and used to play through the boys club. You know, they kind of got me going, and you know, I guess they saw a little something in me and just kept pushing it, you know, and I really enjoyed playing, so kept going, kept going at it. Quick question for you. I know obviously you had Jeffrey Move. What was the biggest differences between that game around that same age? I thought they we talked about that all the time, and the thing about it is like, right now you'll have some folks that's from back in the day, they'll say, man, your sons are really good, but they were new nobody. They was not you, nobody, nobody, That's what it was. You gotta take that, take it, you gotta take it. So now that was their games. I mean, you know, of course, the evolution of the game has been where you know, they can do a lot more things now that we couldn't do back in my day. I mean, a travel was going to be two steps. Anything funny of yours, you might as well mark that up as a turnover because they were going to call travel on that. And so you were kind of limited in some of those things that you could try because we were kind of, you know, prehistoric with that. But now all of those things are you know, they've elevated to a whole nother level. So that's probably the biggest difference in what I see with these two being able to do you know, a lot more in regards to that. And I look at it and be like, oh, wow, that's nice. But I do refer back to and I have to mention that Jeff stole one of my moves. Now, Marcus had a lot of different moves and things, but you got, well, wait, that move that he used to always say, that is so slow, how are you getting by people? And then all of a sudden turned into be his NBA move that made him up NBA. Also look at that he speeded up. That is the move too, that's the move. Ain't no move. That's it here. It comes special, is it. By? Yeah? Talk about moth And it was probably about as slow as monitor at that time. But that's what makes it effective. Change your pace, that change you said he didn't like that move. No, Initially he was like no, and then uh probably look at him outside in the backyard and seeing him trying to master that that move. Why I'm looking out the window. I'm looking out the window. He don't know that I'm looking. And he back there trying to do it. Fum yeah, getting your reps in and fumbling the ball all over the backyard and finally he got it. Took you all away to the all store, took him all the last that's it and and they'll tell you that's your signature move. And he knew that move right now. I got so many along home. He does it so much that he doesn't so much he gets mad at himself, saying, that's my dad again, Uh. We go back to high school. Obviously you had a great high school career Indiana All Star. Let's talk about making that college decision. Well, I know that at that time, I was being recruited pretty heavily. I know, uh Boston. My brother went to Boston University and Rick Petinda was the head coach there, and uh, I know he came to see us play after my brother kind of talked about the kind of support we had, you know, coming out of high school. But I ended up going to uh McDonald's All Star game was like that, it was the. One I played. It wasn't it wasn't a time twenty four Okay, granted, granted now it was the one behind it. And you know what, you you always want this for your kids, right, you always want them to do better than you. So since I went to the second when I wanted to go to the first one, so Marcus was able to get that done. So though, well, yeah, you didn't make that. Yeah I don't even think you got a Plaque Player nomination. I don't even think you got that one. But you know, end result was really good though, So but I don't forgot what. The question was you going to Missouri. Oh yeah, I ended up going to Missouri. I had another UH player that went to Missouri along with me that we played in that particular McDonald's game together. His name was Richie Johnson. He was supposed to be a six', nine well he was six nine sixt' nine point guard and he played At New albany uh and he was going to go To missouri as, well and uh but as a point. Guard AND i know that when we played That All star game, TOGETHER i just kind of, saw you, know a little difference in. THAT i just thought THAT i COULD i could challenge for that position And missouri was coming at me pretty good at that. Time and, NO N i ls at that, Time no N i, Right, no. That was a hundred years. Ago that scholarship was all that you could be asking for and hoping for. It so was it any other school that you was close to committing? To? Uh not really THAT i was thinking about committing. TO i mean there was there, was like The, drakes AND i had a lot of uh low major you, know mid major schools that they were kind of. In the Hunt Ball state was one of them as, well being. Home BUT i know that night came and talked to, me and, uh that was an interesting conversation put up on. You. Uh he just asked, me do you want to play AT? Iu AND i was just kind of, like you, know real hesitant about that. One and it was, like well that's my. Answer then he was, gone, no he didn't have time to. Play so but, No, MISSOURI i was really uh you, know really looking strong at that, one AND i really liked. That so that's WHERE i ended up. Going, okay obviously you uh while you. Leave, yeah, well you, KNOW i call it like it, is and it, was you, know basically being spoiled coming out of high. School you, KNOW i was there for a year and you, KNOW i played well At. Missouri it WAS i THINK i ended up starting like twenty one out of the thirty two games that we, played and BUT i went home over the summer AND i just you know made a decision THAT i was going to be moving on me And Norm. Stewart you, know it was a good. Relationship it was, okay he was you, KNOW i JUST i probably didn't do the things THAT i needed to do and just being spoil coming out of high. School so it wasn't anything to do with him or the school at all because it was a great, situation BUT i just. Felt like you ain't getting enough. Love like, NO i THOUGHT i really. Was and it was just me kind of making my own, decision doing my own thing coming out of high. School so it wasn't LIKE, i you, know had a lot of basketball minds behind me and you, know the academic piece and all that. STUFF i was just kind of making decisions on the fly on my, own and you, know just wasn't mature enough to handle that piece at that. Time and SO i made a decision to kind of move, on and it happened over that. Summer so you make that move To. Boston between those the head, coach how was he as a head? Coach, WELL i know WHEN i first got, there he was welcome arms AND i tell you he was, like, hey glad to have you. Here but let me tell you, Something, sean the grass is no greenner on this side to the side you left. From and so WHAT i liked about him was he was real about everything that he. Stated but he went to back for his, players and you, know he just he wanted you to be you, know you, know boys turned into young, men and so he held you responsible you, know and he demanded a lot from. You but the thing that he did that was so good for us was that he made all the small things in the game be big. THINGS i, mean somebody could score thirty points and he wouldn't put a whole lot of attention behind. That he would put it behind who took, charges you, know who played certain style of, defense who you know took charges and you, know dove after loose, balls and he really highlighted those. Things so it made you want to really do, it you. Know so he had a way to play inside your head that you, know made you really effective for the team and made you enjoy what you were. Doing that sounded real similar to how you be seeing the game because calling up you ain't never talk about points and. Stuff to, me it was always stuff like. That, Yeah AND i, mean you know that was things that just through being able to play the game and being able to be you, know like being Under patinos toutely you like. THAT i kind of adopted those things AND i saw the importance of those, things and you, KNOW i wanted to make sure that when you guys were coming up that if you had a passion for the, game which you, did AND i didn't feel like that had anything to do with me pushing you into. It you grew into, It, Joe. Well, jackson. That was after you had made your commitment TO i was, like if you're gonna commit. To the, game we getting ready to go. In that's true because at FIRST i ain't really. Careful who's like just? Chilling, yeah you were running around We jeff would be playing. Games he's running around the gym playing, tag so he wasn't. Playing he wasn't thinking about basketball at the. Time. Yeah, so but you, Know jeff had really got into it really really, early and you could just see that he had a he had a love for. It you, know when you're running around and you know you got all these little basketballs and your making like you're shooting in the wind and stuff like, that it tells you, that you, know, man you know he likes doing. This so it was easy to coach that for. Sure not that he always wanted to be coached by, me because neither one. MEN i THINK i can't tell you how many times who was worst me Or jiff quit on? Me who was worst me Or jiff to coach both of y'all had y'all. Angles you were technical, tigs SO i had to go, yeah would shut down and he would be, like had nothing to. Say so there was two different kind of approaches. Here so and that helped me a lot with you, know working with other. Kids you, know you, know kids were growing up and, Saying, okay this, kid you got to treat him a little bit different to be able to get the best out of him versus another. Kid so, yeah. Playing For Rick, patino what was that? Like, LIKE i know you said he highlighted charges and. Stuff was he a tough? Coach was? He and he was you have hard? Practices what was? It? Luck he was a very tough. Coach he was a tough coach because the thing is that he actually wanted to get out of. You he could still do. It he was a very young coach at that, time SO i think he was the Youngest division one coach at that, time and he could show you what he, wanted you, know and what he expected out of. You so it was easy to be able to, like you, know fall into that challenge with. Him and he would get in there and he'd play against us and elbow us and knock us. Around but you, KNOW i always felt like that was my chance to get back at him, Too so you, know but he was you, know he was no pride baby when he stepped on the, floor so he would go at you and expect you to come back at, him and when you did, that you, know he really had a lot of respect for. That and you KNOW i respected him for that because he was. Demanding but you, know he was fair and he expected to, win expected to. Win so just a really good player and a great. Motivator he was just a great, motivator great. MOTIVATOR i remember some stories you're telling us, about like you, know playing With Kyrie, dad or like going Against Michael jordan when you was At, boston and all these stories are like how hard you? WIN i got Named. Jet by The Boston celtics Coach Brad. Stevens AND i remember you telling me a story about going Against Kenny. Smith they called him. Ja what did they call? You, okay, okay that's a little different than what they called Gen z is a little bit. BORED i don't know. What. Okay it was, Happy, okay the happy all? Right and thanks To Gary, plumber he called they called me hap what they call you hat bro because in their, eyes you, know Like mattino would be getting all over, everybody and you, KNOW i just never let that piece phase. Me AND i, COULD i could laugh about, IT i could you, know smile about, it and just didn't seem LIKE i could let him get me out of my spot or out of my. Place and so they would carry it home with, them be, upset be, angry ready to you, know make moves and all of, this AND i was, like, man he's just a man like you. Are and SO i used to kind of take it like, that and, uh you, know they used to just think that that was just you, know, hey being, around you, know being, happy being kind of joyful and just well hat, Man, yeah we. See we. Was we was on the Elevator All Star weekend twenty, Fifteen New, york right and it was Us terrell on there and it Was Kyrie dad in the. Corner and he looked At. Terrell he was, LIKE i ain't he, down like he said Hat terrell, SAID i don't know what you're talking. About he, Said, sean he, said all you're talking about my? Dad he, said you look just like your. Dad, dude where is? He AND i gotta talk to? Him And i'm like that is. Crazy it is, Crazy. Dredrick he. Was he was a special player for us right out Of New. YORK i, mean you, know you could see all the resemblance of you, Know kyrie's game within his, game because, man he could shake you up and, down, right, left and you could do. Everything so you, know he was really fun to play. With you, know uh really enjoyed. Him and you, know he was just a really really good. Player AND i just brought a whole nother angle of the game to. Us, yeah we got your stats up. Here, boy you was weak. A thousand points corri. Though oh yeah, yeah. Yeah you, Know. Jeff finished tied for the most. Career points AND i, know AND i KNOW i was probably way ahead of him and. Assist, yeah the adfiference between your thousand points a. Month, uh your. Well but that's, okay that's, okay that's all. Right, now you got me what, okay that's all. Okay Now i'm with. That you go down that school, record yeah, yeah, Conference, yeah it hung in there for a, while but you, know it broke it. Recently. Yeah it was another kid Named, jeff and he came through and he smacked the. Record but, YEAH i. Hung on for that point scored On college And. Batman yeah it was pretty. GOOD i was more of an assist. Guy, yeah average ten and. Ten it's Pretty Solids. Stacks today's show is brought to you by our presented, sponsor Hard Rock Bet Florida sports. Know you After, boston LIKE i, said we are coaching, now when did you decide coaching would be in a thing that you want to do. WELL i think that my oldest daughter started kind of getting in and she was playing softball and wanted to play. Basketball she was just doing a little bit of, everything and THEN i was just kind of, like, Well i'm a you, know just kind of kind of guide her along in, that like most dads will, do you, know especially if they're you, know sports related or you, know really want to you, know got an inkling of a desire to kind of get in there and coach a little. Bit it always makes it easy when you have your own child being able. To, play. Right SO i kind of did it to you, know kind of get in from that, angle but not really serious at that time BECAUSE i was still. Playing so it wasn't until you, know pretty much the boys came along with With, terrell you, Know Jeff, marcus THEN i started kind of really you, know diving in there to coach, more you, know in terms OF aau and not just coaching, them but that's kind of what it. Was but initially that's WHAT i. Did WHEN i started actually coaching, them it was just kind of like breakdown, stuff breakdown drills and kind of working with them and going to the. Gym and ACTUALLY i remember one particular time THAT i took all the kids with my daughter and you, know the, boys and just had them do a drill, work just you drill work in the. GYM i used to work at this facility that had a, gym AND i used to take them in there and we just did a lot of work like. That so we work on things THAT i would always consider a, weakness like their left hand versus their right, hand BECAUSE i know that they were dominant right. Handed so you, know we just did a lot of stuff like. That what's the first thing you would say you wanted to teach like a person who just started off on. Basketball obviously you told us how to. Play what's the first thing you think you need to? Learn, like is it? Shooting? DRIBBLING i always thought it was. DRIBBLING i just always thought it because regardless of how you, know bigger small you're going to. Be if you turn out to be six ten and you can handle the ball because you started out handling the, ball your advantages are going to be so much. Better all the other things can come, along, like you, know just as it was With Jeff marcus was a little you, know most certainly Different terrell. Was also they seemed to be able to score the ball a little. Differently jeff was more like an assist. Guy And i'm sure like it was in high. School to, you you were a leading, scorer And jeff was more finding people and getting, people getting people, open and he seemed to really like. That SO i didn't Think jeff was ever going to be a score because that's just what he seemed to gravitate, to was passing the. Ball but you, know that became something easy for him to develop into as being a score because of the fact that he could handle the, BALL i mean get to different spots on the. Floor, Now marcus always could get the different spots on the. Floor he just kind of kind of did his own, thing you. Know. Uh he was kind of a horse without the bridal thing or whatever you call that On, yeah, well not That i'm talking about being able to hold on to the horse the. Straps he was a loose. Horse HE i was Like. Marcus so we had times that it always Takes indy heat and speech staff to talk about it all the time when they were at The nationals and. On the. Show who was At rafield talking about how we messed. Up, yeah so we what we're going to. Get, Yeah And Jeff marcus wasn't playing the defense THAT i felt he should have been. Playing and you, know of, course coach bats who uh you, know of, Course AND i meant to minch him as well without the. Dow he's totally a big time mentor of. Mine but he was, saying you coach everybody, else Leave marcus, alone please. Us. Man, yeah BUT i couldn't leave the team every, weekend, yeah for, sure to play clearly every WEEK i mean they were always. Quitting so you was like. We would be having thirty points and you would be getting on us about the smallest, thing going crazy, Though Like i'm, like come, on, BRO i got, forty but going nuts about the smallest. Thing. Bro BUT i knew all the importance of all of. Them that's that's a. Fact. Though you. Know WHAT i always thought was funny that, kids obviously he can't handled now is the way you motivated. Them oh they can't take that, now you. KNOW i remember one particular time we was watching somebody play and you, Talked, jeff you can't do no hell you see that? Move you can't do. That well he playing. Seeds, yeah, YEAH i was readied. People they don't even know what's going. On he plenty. Seeds, WELL i used to do THE i don't even call it, subliminal but it was just kind OF i kind of throw it out. There AND i used to do, this AND i most certainly did it With Jeff. Marcus if you say something to him that ignited, him he was ready to, go so it wasn't no. Problem so WHAT i would do Was. JEFF i wouldn't say it directly To. JEFF i would be talking to somebody. Else AND i just remember one particular, situation and that was involved In Reach. CHEATHAM i, said, man he's really really. GOOD i, mean don't you know he's. Special AND i just said it Around. Jeff that's ALL i, did was just say it around. Me And i'm looking And i'm, thinking you, know they were always pretty good and all okay together and, everything and next thing you, Know i'm seeing. This reaesprite didn't know what was going on Because jeff was. Coming he was, coming AND. I kept, SAYING i KNOW i planted that. ONE i KNOW i planned that, one But jeff was like. That he was like a silent. Assassin he wouldn't respond to. It marcus was open mouthed on anything you. Say he. Was he was just different like. That AND i, Say, marcus be matter of, fact don't be quite shut, up just shut up and. Uh but he. Couldn't he couldn't stop. It he had to keep. Going But jeff was more of a silent. ASSASSIN i can't play right IF i, Talk, Bro i'm not gonna be the same. Player you gotta start. Talking but he did a lot of. Talking, yeah but not like. Me now you was disrespectful. TALKING i could not play basketball IF i don't do. That he did a lot of. TALKING i never, understood like why he did. That but now being a, coach like all the things THAT i hated about you as a, COACH i like turned into. That it's, FUNNY i, said all, among AND. I hate it the smallest things, now all, Right, Yeah i'm, like that's that's. Bad that's, bad Phil, Philip, yeah that's that's. Him, well the other piece of it is, Yeah AND i mean that's normally what, happens you, know you, know through your life, channels it just kind of. Goes you take the pieces when it's time to receive. Them you, know you don't necessarily do it at the same juncture in. Time you just do it when it becomes relevant to you down the, road and, so you, know and you just take bits and. Pieces you. Know somebody, say who's you? Know who did you you know model when you was coming, up you, Know And i'd, SAY i took a piece from, everybody a little. Piece you. Know IF i see somebody with something THAT i felt like could help my, GAME i would try to add that to. It so it wasn't one, individual it was a, collective you. Know so it's you, know and that's good to, see you, know with with actually both of them when it comes down to those, things you, KNOW i don't expect them to be identically to me in no form of, fashion but you, know to be able to take pieces of what was, good you, know and being able to be a part of. That, YEAH i think that's you, know that only makes. SENSE i know a lot of kids now they don't really like watching game. Film but WHEN i was a, kid you had me watching my friends outside. Playing i'm watching tape after tape over the littlest. Stuff what's the biggest thing you think kids while they. Don't watch film and all this stuff no. More because nobody wants to see their low. Lights they only want to see their. Highlights they only want to see the good things that's happening with. Them because if you ever go through film, session you always see, that you, know kids be LIKE i was, HUSTLING i was doing, THIS i was doing. That and then when they see the film and recognize they were you, know you, know off the, mark or they didn't do, it and they assumed that they. Did and trust, me they really believed that they did during the, game because sometimes they assumed that they did it only because they're tired and they're moving and they're moving, somewhere but don't realize they're not, moving, Right they're just moving. Somewhere and then when you see it on, film sometimes they can't believe that they did it and can't even recall when that. Happened and so being able to see it and routinely watching film is going to bring recall for the next time you have a similar situation when the coach is telling you something and now all of a sudden you be, like, YES i remember that, now because WHEN i watched, FILM i saw THAT i wasn't putting that effort into, it and so they'll they'll it'll just bring recall to it and put them in the right place at the right, time. BECAUSE i know in COLLEGE i was playing games after our first couple of film, SESSIONS i was playing a game just to look good on. Film i'm playing hard defense just BECAUSE i know coach to kill us on. FILM i never got that. Memo our field sessions was, Crazy our field sessions was. Filthy but why at a, time never forget this With Coach. Patino but he was one of our one of our guys on our. Squad he he had missed the defensive. Assignment and he was always, like, hey if you're not playing defense with passion like we need to, have you're gonna you're not gonna be. Playing but if you're giving me that effort on the, defense you're going to always be to play in the. Game so he kept he ran the, tape he rewound the tape for some other, reason and then it came back up to the, same you know, situation and he, said and you did it again the tape for something, else and it came up beginning, said now you go three, times you definitely. Won't be playing next. Game you definitely won't be playing the next. Game we're like the same it's the same. Place but that's you, know and that's all part of the head, game you, know and saying if you can have, IT. I can't say, That pop there gonna kill Your Jeff, paul just, Say, Paul. All, right we got we got, Obviously jeff moved go To Wake, Forest. Kentucky what did you like about Coach prosser and coach Cal what made you comfortable with their decisions to go. There, Well i'll go With jeff. First with Coach. Prosser, Uh Coach prosser came AND i think he did such a great job with the recruiting piece because he never guaranteed. Anything all he said was he had a recommendation That jeff for somebody was looking at. Was. Crazy heet. Back to WHAT i was, before you was rudely. Interview so but he came to an event that was out At Warren central and he would go and he would Watch jeff play in the first, game AND i thought he played pretty well in the first. Game so after the game was, over you know how all the coaches sit on that sideline right in between the courts and he was sitting in between. There and then after the game was, over he got up and. Left So i'm, thinking, okay he's probably going to another, gym you, know recruiting other kids or at least getting getting a glimpse of other. Kids BUT i kind of tried to follow him AND i couldn't find. Him SO i gave up on. It and you, know jeff was playing again in a couple of. Hours so came back and next thing you, Know prosser was sitting right there, again and So i'm, like, okay you, know he had no kind of you, know he didn't really show any anything in regards to When jeff made good, moves bad, moves or emotion, whatever no, emotion he didn't show any of. That and but he was right. There second game it was, over he went somewhere else. AGAIN i went to go try to, follow couldn't find. Him, Okay, jeffingham don't play again into the, Mall SO i just kind of, went you, know Until. Sunday so he comes back the next. Day there he is. Again Now jeffingham make it to the championship, game and you, KNOW i quit trying to look for him after games after that and make it to the championship, game and THEN i think that that's when you're playing The. WOLVES i think that. Everywhere, yeah turn and Then yep became and he made a. Movie it was like four seconds to go in the. GAME i think we were down one and he went coast to coast AND i mean he was at the. Rim and WHEN i looked over There, prosser it was the, same no, emotion it was, there and SO i was, like oh, wow what's kind of what's up with this? Guy and so after it's all over With prosser's, leaving everybody's, gone everybody's, gone and HE i guess he's on the. Flame and he texted me and he, Said, SEAN i just wanted to let you KNOW i really enjoyed come and see your son. PLAY i came there to evaluate, him you, know game, one to see kind of he was a kid that you, know we could you know use, uh you. Know the second. GAME i was there BECAUSE i really enjoyed WHAT i seen in the first. Game then he, said you know that third, game he, SAID i came there as a, fan and he, said in that last final, GAME i came there because he needs to be A Wake forest demon deacon and that's exactly he's our. Guy so it was just his process of how he went through and he, said, oh and by the, way if you were looking for, ME i didn't go there to look for anybody. ELSE i just came there to See Jeff. Tig so it was just the way he you, know capped it all. Off it was just really really really. Good was a good. Guy he told, me IF i was six, foot, here recruit. Me. Yeah. Yeah he was getting nay one day and open gym When Coach froster came was putting on a. Show he, said who is? That that's my best. Friend he was, like what school are you going? TO i was, like you're gonna go. Juco he was, like, okay. Nice IF i was six, foot, MAN. I recruit you. MYSELF i was, like. You did me like that? Too. WELL i think he had one of the highest verticals off of that jump shot That i've ever. SEEN i, mean get up off the, ground, young, yeah both of. Them you And Bruce beasley, boy y'all jump up off that ground and it's like it can't be nothing but a bucket because you were too hard to get up, there you, know and it was real easy for. You didn't have to work, hard he just had, bounce you. Know it was real. Nice But marcus's, situation he was with Coach. Kyle WHAT i really liked about his recruitment was he came over to the house and at no time did he ever mention any of the other all stars that he, had like you, know Uh rose or you know The bookers and everybody Not booker But rose and, Yeah John. Wall he never at any time mentioned them during that whole. Time and so my father had asked a, Question he, said, well you hadn't said anything about you, Know Derrick. Rose he, said mister T i didn't need to say anything about. Them you already know about. Them i'm here to talk about your son and what your son is going to be doing For. Kentucky and so that's what we're here for BECAUSE i think he has a special, place you know At. Kentucky. Uh he's going to be with some great guys and you, know he's going to get to play and so he's going to be on you, know national television every single game that we. Play AND i think he's going to really enjoy. That and we're going to enjoy having, him you, know if you guys you, know Select. Kentucky all, right let's ask the real. Question did you Think kentucky was a place for? HIM i thought, so, YEAH i. DID i JUST i liked WHAT i heard from Coach. CAL i know that we uh got a little bit of slack flak from uh The louisville fans because they thought that he had committed when he had not. Committed we had all, WENT i, guess uh To, Kentucky Kentucky louisville. Game what's the, Committee wayne Black? Shirt, No, No bryan And mike might. Have they had committed. Together, well everybody was there, together and so they had the signs up in this. Dands, Hey marcus t you, know And mike and all of those. Guys so we get back there and they were playing Against kentucky that, night and we go and they're in the hallway in the back and these, guys the fans were back, there and they was, like you, know basically telling them to, commit, commit, commit and Then mike, Said i'm coming a love just kind of like, that and they started yelling and, screaming AND i mean it was off the. Hook and Then ryan. Decided so they, all you, know the same kind of. Hype and SO i, Whispering marcus is. HERE i, Said, marcus this is not the place to do. It we are not going to. Commit, no, said we are not going to do it. Here and so there was a teacher or someone that was, there a lady that was standing, beside and she heard me say, that and she, said Mister, tigg you're most certainly doing the right. Thing don't let him get caught up in the hype and make sure it's the decision that you and your family talk about and it's the right place for. Him and so he didn't say. Anything he might have been dancing out of his pants trying to get there, something but he. Didn't he didn't say. Anything but when we got on our way home ON, espn we heard, it Said marcus, LIKE, I, NO i didn't. Commit do you know who we really, Liked pops is That cincinnati? Bro that's who we really? Like? People that was our, Guy like it was a people you're right. With mick was my guy THAT i. KNOW i know that's the one we really was cool. With, yeah but both of them are so cool Because mick his. Voice got me, period AND i was, like When i'm talking To Big, BIG i Thought big was, black BUT. I mean they were so they were so. Cool it Was cincinnati that was that was big on our. List it was Giving pop's gas. Money it wasn't, gasp well we did everything above? Board is here above? Board it was a rumor that, you, uh you the one who reached out to coach Cowboy. Ad is that? True? Yeah. Yeah so we were In Fort wayne AND i saw a d playing and he was With Main street AND i was, like, man this kid is for? Real who is? He and everybody was like like they didn't really know BECAUSE i guess that's when he hit his gross, spurt you, know and he didn't have any kind of uh name that was behind him at that. Time oh that's WHEN i didn't get to. PLAY i was a, prong, right you didn't? Play AND i. SAID i walked up to him AND i, said, man what school are you going? To and then he was, Like i'm not sure. Yet and THEN i, said, man would you like to go To? Kentucky he Said? Kentucky, no they ain't never reached out to. ME i, said, oh they getting ready to getting ready to, so uh that's WHAT i made a phone. CALL i made that call to him AND i, said, man y'all got to get somebody here. Today somebody here. Today there's a kid that y'all are. Missed i'm telling you he's gonna be super. TOUGH i never said that he was gonna be the number one, player BUT i just told me he's going To he's A you can't miss on him because if you if you don't get, him you're getting ready to lose a big. Piece so they came and next, thing you, know they was, like, wow this. Kid so that once all that, happened then everybody started trying to get. In everybody started trying to get. In BUT i guess when y'all had the awards, thing you, Know Coach cale had mentioned that and said that you should have had me on staff. Show possible love because ad was about to go to a house. State yeah and Humane yeah, crazy, yeah, yeah. Shout out to pop you you brung a. Natty, yeah that's. Crazy it was a. Lot of fun that, YEAR a lot of fun that. Year. THANKS i want to talk about you scouting a little. Bit you got THE i still. God that. Eyes, uh it's it's got popcorn and soft drinks in. It it's a little, blurry. It's a little. BURRY i GOTTA i got a couple of PEOPLE i want you to look at and you tell me what you. See it's consense consensus number, one number two. PICK i just want to see which one you will pick. First and who do we have? HERE A? Jacobson? YEAH i like. That, yeah this is what you. Get that's what you get. Here that's tough left. Hand, yeah start to. Break you know what this. Is you know it's six, nine you know this is. Hm you know What i'm. Saying windmill through the. Lane that's. Crazy, yeah to. Handle it very. Teamakage, yeah that's, yeah that's. It who what you. Like about his game so? Far like just checking him out or we always break down films five twenty film, Room, WELL i MEAN i. DO i like his versatility in terms and it all comes back to him being able to handle the ball like he. Does with his thighs that he, has he can get to any place on the floor that he wants. To and like you, said the jump shot is going to you, know come, come you, know get. There but right now he's a score m. Hm and you know you got a score that can make plays like, that you. Know and AND i haven't seen any of these highlights right now where he's actually made passing plays out it's just scoring. HIGHLIGHTS i don't. Imagine, yeah he can pass a little bit, Though, yeah. And it's best part of his. Game but he can do it good as you think you could pass on the athlete like. That, no, no you don't want to pass on that six. Nine you just you just don't want to pass on. That that's what we. Got good pass we. GOT i, mean, yeah they got some that's a, dot. That's, yeah that's. Tough, yeah, yeah he got some stuff with. It, yeah we got first up where you make it. To the other. One Darren peterson more of a brand beal, shooter but he's sneaky, athlete get off the, ground don't need no. Space they got questions about his durability right right long athlete who, yeah, no that's. Cash. Yeah AND i think probably the only thing that they kind of set him back a little bit, was you, know maybe coming out a few games where they felt, like you, know he was, cool he should have been playing through. It but in terms of his talent and his, abilities there's no question about. It AND i think that would have probably put him closer to the number one selection than the, BAND i. Think BUT i think the only reason is because even the race right now is because he set. Out, YEAH i just feel LIKE i, think, YEAH i just think he's like ready right, now you can sell with. Me he probably averaged eighteen and a j potential and sellings just through the roof though in two to three. Years if that's one you, like if we miss on, that. Yeah gonna be. CRAZY i just don't think it can go wrong with either one of. Them but if the only difference is If, peterson if his jumper is not, clicking mm, hmm does he have what the best has? Outside because the band is gonna go score, anyway get to the. Basket be, Honest, Pops i've never seen the jump. Shot there's no question about him being able to shoot. It, yeah there's no question about. It that was the only thing THAT i would say if that was the. Case what? ELSE i just think the athleticism from a j the, lengths like the the movements at that, start it's hard to pass on that six nine get a shot, Off, YEAH i think's. Potential, YEAH i think you can find a jump SHOT i think everybody gets better once this becomes your job every. DAY i think the jump, shot. Like like, said he, Is brad beal, right could be something crazy And brad is really, good really. Good it's a good, player but really. Good He the question is does he fit in any system in the n B. A is there a system That Peter everything he can shoot is a j fit every one of. Them, yes we're gonna take wrong. Athlete were gonna make room for you so you can't go. Wrong so you The, wizards you Got, Trey you got a D. I'm i'm going with the bat for for. Sure that's a good. Tham, yeah you already got shooters out. There that's a good. Team you Got Trey. Johnson, yeah, yeah and WE i GOT i got two more for. You speaking of ready right, now we Got. Boozer you like The boozer. GAME i MEAN i like his game because he's a really smart player and he, can you, know LIKE i, said hit him outside and take you. Inside you, KNOW i don't know how effective he would be on the inside being BECAUSE i don't think like he's a great, Athlete, nona you, know so that might be a little difficult for him and a little, short you know, so but you, know he's just a really really SMART i think his intelligence on the floor is is the bigger part of his game that is gonna be more. BENEFICIAL i THINK. I heard some somebody say, yesterday he is who he, Is, like he's a good. Player he was the same player in high school as he was in. College he's gonna be the same player in THE. Nba he's probably come out right away every sixteen or eighteen. Points he'll do that every. Night. Yeah but as far as the. Ceiling do you think he's closer to that ceiling than the other? Players, yes, yeah just because athletically he's just not that athletically. Gifted but like skill, wise. He can make a. Shot he's gonna do everything. Right he's gonna be in the right, position he plays basketball the right. Way like you, SAID i think he's gonna be a fifteen year pro and for the majority of his career he's gonna be fifteen points are? Better is he Our horford type for? Sure Al? Horford yeah that is. Right, YEAH i, agree. Our horford still. Player yeah. Sure and then we got another guy who may not be ready, yet but if he reaches his. POTENTIAL i need, That Caleb, WILSON i need. This, yeah he right there with Ag, yeah he got that same type of. Stuff just a lot of. People saying he might sneak up to number. THREE i. Wouldn't athletic he, led he was led like, then he was second in THE ncaa and dunks he got and he missed like thirteen. Games and he has so much fun. Playing So i'm saying if he catches up skill wise or gets a jump, shot. Yeah that's just he just so a. Team it's crazy him And. Booze. Dang he actually said he that's when he learned how to play for basketball for? Real is playing on that? Team? Yeah they want piece. Jam. YEAH i just see so much. Potential, bro he gonna be better than. Everybody low, Key, bro he just learned how to really. Hoop yeah, yeah that's. Scary. Bro you think he's gonna be better at a? Bro if he just learned how to, Hoop, bro that that means he got a lot of way to go to get. Better he already. Real that's. Crazy he's gonna. COLD i don't, know, bro he's three. Pick if You, memphis they might want to tap. In who you going with they might want to tap. In i'll take the. Athlete, YEAH i would. Take can't you have Zach ady And boozer? Together you? CAN i, MEAN i think boos can play the. Four BUT i just you just need some excitement in down there and. People, yeah for, Sure, yeah he's gonna bring some excitement to the. Game what's your. What's your thoughts On boozer? Defensively, uh. He is who he. Is he's A. Boozer SO i don't think he's gonna be always be the greatest defensive. Player that's a. Fact this guy has one more potential on the Defensive, Athletically, yeah speed and, Quickness SO i think he'll be a better. Defender BUT i just Think boo's gonna play positional. DEFENSE i think he's gonna be in the right spot all the. Time and if you're talking about, Numbers boozer is gonna have consistency across the board with his. Numbers it's just going to be that, right because he's a guy that's gonna make sure he blocks. Out he's gonna take care of that because he Knows i'm not jumping over Anybod SO i got a box AND i got to go get, it and so he's going to do all the things that you know fundamentally that you need to do to be. Successful it might Take Cale wilson a year or. Two, yeah BUT i think his. POTENTIALS i really want move to go to a good team because that would be his best. Situation he got to be OVER, whoa that'd be. Crazy now he don't need to go, there that'd be. Crazy that ain't, Fair but. Just somewhere where he ain't got to be the main. Guy that's not. Fair it's not him like a j kind of if he was like an alur for role to The. Clippers yeah they, Five. Yeah clippers with. THEM i like. That yeah, Yeah johnath free. Agent, yeah you Got, cam you Got. Kawhi you gotta do. This you've got guys who are supposed to make place for. Him he can figure right. In he can go get that. Fifteen it's gonna look real. Good that makes sense real, quick. MAN i want to talk about the games for the. Night, well it's only one game to. Night Pistons. Caves you've been. WATCHING i haven't been watching that series at. All it's. Boring, yeah it's it's pretty. Boring is heating up? Though it got good last gay he had forty. Three, yeah, yeah, yeah thirty nine and you not only of the person do that Is sleepy for, right which we're gonna talk about here at the end of the. Show, well wasn't he like one point away from that? Record? Yeah it was thirty nine in the second, half so he tied it With Sleepy. Florid. Yeah so before we go, there what you think About lebron thinks you? RETIRE i think he. SHOULD i just thought he needed to do a farewell to, HER i, thought, so you, know BUT i think coming back he got three twenty. Five he may still average, that BUT i think his effectiveness in terms of he's averaging the, numbers but his effectiveness as a. Player he just wanted to play off. Series, yeah with, nobody with his. SON i, MEAN i get, IT i understand, it BUT i think IT'S i just think it's that TIME i say go out on. TOP i feel THAT i say go out on. TOP i feel if you give that a, year you, know give some young buck behind your. Chance but that's just what my thoughts are on, it that he just do a farewell tour on it and go with. It AND i think that farewell tour should start with him being At. Cleveland so you think bron and he, said BRON i was going back To. Cleveland, YEAH i think that that's where it needs To. WOLDS i think he's gonna have to, well you know, what you, Know But bronni's been doing AND i like the way he's been carrying, himself you, know all through all of the you, know father son thing and you, know being gifted, this you, know and all of. That but he's been playing hard and he goes out there and he commits to, playing so you, know and he's not trying, to you, know address all of those concerns that everybody else. Has he just goes out and, plays you, know and SO i respect him for, That and BUT i do think he has to go with him, situation him Or jannis n Bron you, mean at this stage got five. Brothers, Yeah janna's got some pool like. That BUT i tell you what you, take you, know take a couple of years. Back you, know, hey bron got that. Too if you know they were at that, age these were, kids his kids that weren't even at that level OF nba competition. Yet you, Know janni's, brothers, uh you, know full adults and been there for you know. Years If bron was a little, Younger bryce in the league, too oh, yeah he wouldn't probably have probably have his daughter in. There i'm. Saying all, right before we get out of, here we got a segment where we look at some of the best plays IN nba history on this. Date so the first, One Derek. Fisher we just seen the. Fish this happened. Today let's be. Here point guard. Tough, yeah they changed the rule because of. This that's. Tough zero point four on the. Clock then he get it, off. He, counted, counted he got it all. Too, yeah you got your. Shoot, yeah he ain't had a head band Of let's get out of. Here he got it. Off he doesn't got it got it, off, bro that's. Tough that's a bad way to lose with somebody questioning that whether you got it. All they changed they changed the rule because of. That you can't get a shout. Off yeah, yeah point the score seventy, three seventy. Two, yeah that's a Bad so point three is a. Tip you have to. Tip, ye that's, crazy. Boss last, one we were just talking about, It Sleepy, floyd. What you know about sleeping floor right. There who is? This lost me with, this, yes, sir before it was Nice georgie Lost georgie. T, yeah yeah he was. Nice kareem out. There he was like seven, yeah just nice and yeah. He had thirty nine a second half To that's Who Domon mitchell, Time. Sleepy. Floyd let me ask, you, man when he was growing, up who was your favorite? Player uh Mo cheeks Actually? Cheeks yeah, yeah he, Coaching, yeah but he was With, philly With philly only because he was my favorite. Player BECAUSE i can see myself kind of doing you want to be Like cheeks chicks like he? Was who you who you looked at that Like i'm similar to? Him who you wanted to be? LIKE i had nobody THAT i wanted to be like like, no, no, no you know how you feel like you that? One that's. COOL i didn't have some type of favorite, player favorite, player. Bro it was More. Cheeks now you didn't like DOCTOR. J i MEAN i Like, jock DOCTOR. J but, seriously More cheeks was the one THAT i was. Always he was just my favorite. Player cheese probably like that's crazy the. Only, yeah, YEAH i mean he, was he. Was he. Was he was that guy for me at. The checks that that was your favorite. Player he's still, coaching still, COACHING i, know yeah that With philly shout the more. Cheese.
