Episode 71 - Death Watch pt 2 - Their weapons, tactics, facilites, stories and more.
On today’s cast we conclude our coverage of the Death Watch, the special forces of the Space Marines. We open with some of our favorite weapons and equipment of the Death Watch. Namely we focus on how specialized an borderline heretic their equipment and weaponry are. We also focus on how much of a nightmare it was to play against the death watch as a xenos player during certain editions. After this we spend some time talking about how the Death Watch interact with the other factions of the imperium. Lastly we talk about the overall structure of the Death Watch, with focus on some of their key fortresses and where they got them

[SPEAKER_00]: Welcome to the Forty K-Lorecast. [SPEAKER_00]: Welcome to Forty K. Lorcast with me, John Barsodium, Brad Chester. [SPEAKER_00]: This guy. [SPEAKER_00]: On today's cast, we're going to conclude our coverage of the death watch with some focuses on some of their weapons, some of their tactics, and a bit more of a dive into some of the events that they'd taken part of. [SPEAKER_00]: For those of you who are new to the cast, the Forty K. Lorcast, the weekly podcast, folks in the lore of Warhammer Forty K. Universe, releases every Monday at seven p.m. [SPEAKER_00]: Eastern Time in the U.S. [SPEAKER_00]: They releases globally, actually, but seven p.m. [SPEAKER_00]: Eastern Time, which is a U.S. [SPEAKER_00]: time. [SPEAKER_00]: That's made it clear. [SPEAKER_00]: Anyway. [SPEAKER_00]: I love that you're just putting this in, period. [SPEAKER_00]: I just keep putting it enough to keep forgetting, like anyway. [SPEAKER_00]: Before we get in though, please like and comment in the cast, your likes and your comments are massive help to us to spread the cast to new users. [SPEAKER_00]: Additionally, I have to approve all the comments, so I get a good laugh out of it. [SPEAKER_00]: So for those who believe in comments, I do, I really do appreciate them, especially the person who commented on, I believe, [SPEAKER_00]: week before Cal came out and I had to go through sixty kinds to delete the comment because it just looked weird on there. [SPEAKER_00]: I thought it would get it once. [SPEAKER_00]: So whoever you are sir, we did it out. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, we did a towel, but I'm actually more impressed. [SPEAKER_00]: You put that much time in. [SPEAKER_00]: So I think it skills. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, every single cast we'd ever done. [SPEAKER_00]: You commented or she'd. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know. [SPEAKER_00]: Before we begin, I know a quick announcement on June six, twenty twenty four. [SPEAKER_00]: We will be hosting our first forty-a-k tournament. [SPEAKER_00]: It is a major. [SPEAKER_00]: People who play the game competitively, this is a major. [SPEAKER_00]: So it will be a three-day event, seven rounds, a hundred and fifty-plus players in the Metro Detroit area. [SPEAKER_00]: A wonderful area called Southfield. [SPEAKER_00]: If you're not from here, you might believe me, but I say that. [SPEAKER_01]: Don't be, don't be bad, Midwest would be. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, there'll be an event here in the Detroit metro area. [SPEAKER_00]: So anyone looking to play the game, we will be there. [SPEAKER_00]: We'll be hosting some additional events while we're there. [SPEAKER_00]: On to that though. [SPEAKER_00]: If you click on the show notes, you'll see a link to it there. [SPEAKER_00]: You'll also see a link to our website, our Discord, Patreon and others. [SPEAKER_00]: I've no, obviously, I guess we'll bring up every time, completely free site for any and all listeners, or actually even not listeners, you can find it. [SPEAKER_00]: Do you? [SPEAKER_00]: Do you? [SPEAKER_00]: Do you? [SPEAKER_00]: Do you? [SPEAKER_00]: Like, I'm impressed. [SPEAKER_00]: I was built really as a repository for all the fans of the Forty K universe. [SPEAKER_00]: We've got channels dedicated to cast themselves, questions for the hosts, requests for future casts. [SPEAKER_00]: They've been more stuff than they can. [SPEAKER_00]: Forty K. Literature, like, give me some advice on some good books to read, hobby and gameplay, tabletop simulator, Forty K. Games, everything, get everything. [SPEAKER_00]: As always, massive shout out to our mods on this, I genuinely would have burned this thing to the point. [SPEAKER_00]: Talks about it all the time. [SPEAKER_00]: Actually, I ask the mods on a weekly basis. [SPEAKER_00]: Is it time? [SPEAKER_00]: Is the exterminatus upon us? [SPEAKER_01]: It's down, arson. [SPEAKER_00]: Is the exterminatus upon us? [SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, it's also a huge thank to you guys on that. [SPEAKER_00]: Lastly, we always spend some time talking about Brad and his coaching services. [SPEAKER_00]: You can go to our website. [SPEAKER_00]: You can find some more descriptions about it. [SPEAKER_00]: Also, the Discord has some pieces on it. [SPEAKER_00]: Brad has been playing the game for over thirty years. [SPEAKER_00]: He's been coaching for close to ten. [SPEAKER_00]: And he's got really great service available for anyone who wants to really dive much more into the game itself. [SPEAKER_00]: You can reach out. [SPEAKER_00]: You can reach Brad via our website or the Discord. [SPEAKER_00]: He's happy to coach you no matter, no matter your player level. [SPEAKER_00]: All right, so let's get back to the death watch. [SPEAKER_00]: On the last cast, we talked about how the death watch operate different in the space rates. [SPEAKER_00]: They work in small groups and they're achieving kind of smaller but more critical objectives in the battlefront. [SPEAKER_00]: And these like small squads are called kill teams. [SPEAKER_00]: However, one thing we didn't dive into as much I want to do in this cast was how specialized there are equipment is. [SPEAKER_01]: And and wildly different than the way that regular Marines operate because they have [SPEAKER_00]: units that would never be together are in a one specialist exactly but I want to have that's have some fun with the death watch armor which is a little bit heretical which is totally fine which is totally fine because they're part of the inquisition I will say the ad Mac love working with the death watch it's their favorite factions so many things to take home it's just all toys and there's no rules they're always buying it from the gift shop yeah [SPEAKER_00]: And this makes sense because the thing about the Death Watch is they spend all their time fighting against the Zeno forces of the galaxy. [SPEAKER_00]: And while fighting the Zeno's, the Death Watch discover that these mutants who were opposed to the light of the Emperor somehow through obviously blind luck stumbled upon some kind of nice technology. [SPEAKER_00]: And by nice technology, I mean insanely advanced technology. [SPEAKER_00]: And so there should be a shame that there's all go to waste. [SPEAKER_00]: And that's viewed by both the death watch and the advent very much so. [SPEAKER_01]: And this would be deal with this because the death watch, I mean, and the advent are really one of the few people that are putting advancements towards webinar. [SPEAKER_01]: We are very right now. [SPEAKER_01]: We are at dark ages of the incosition. [SPEAKER_01]: It is you're not supposed to change anything. [SPEAKER_01]: It's her radical to do it. [SPEAKER_01]: They're doing it. [SPEAKER_00]: Not the death watch. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, the death watch is definitely. [SPEAKER_00]: And the way that this, unfortunately, this has a bit of a break again between the tabletop and the lore. [SPEAKER_00]: All the tabletop death watch weapons tend to be a, sometimes they get more armor penetration or more damage, but it's a hidden mess. [SPEAKER_00]: They've some additional, that's a mission. [SPEAKER_01]: They're really, they've got a lot of weapons that work specifically versus [SPEAKER_00]: Right, but it's seen. [SPEAKER_00]: Specific scenes in the in the lower it should it actually their weapons are better. [SPEAKER_00]: So I'm saying it's true in their in the lower a death watch a boulder is more powerful more accurate and more reliable than a standard space ring one because they have these specialized armors who are building the for these tasks as they are the special forces. [SPEAKER_00]: Now, what I do love about them is that with the debt question, the exact point, we talked before about when you join the debt watch, you have to be a super soldier. [SPEAKER_00]: You're captain, you're Lieutenant at the sign-off on you saying that you can fight Zeno's, you're a pothorcarious, a sign-off saying that you can [SPEAKER_00]: seal better and you're stronger and you're faster and chapy and then your chaplain is coming to be like yeah he also won't spill our secrets love a chaplain but that's just the soldiers the same thing is for the weaponsmiths so the legions send the death watch the best weaponsmiths in the galaxy in this is a big thing when people send it's not like because you could say all they were sad that we're sending our best people but the legions for the most part [SPEAKER_01]: It's an unwritten, unspoken, I guess. [SPEAKER_01]: Competition though. [SPEAKER_01]: You want to make sure that you want your best guy, because our best guy is better than your best guy. [SPEAKER_00]: The death watch, except for the black shields, are not secret. [SPEAKER_00]: So if you're sitting there saying, oh, did you know that twenty percent of the death watch armors or space wolves? [SPEAKER_00]: That's a huge thing to the space wolf. [SPEAKER_00]: So that's why they're able to get the best and the best. [SPEAKER_00]: They want to show that to everybody that, oh, our weaponsmiths are better than yours. [SPEAKER_01]: Right. [SPEAKER_01]: in our, whatever's our, you know, our eradicators are minute and years. [SPEAKER_01]: Our, what people are very proud about that. [SPEAKER_01]: And there has been a ton of competition since the inception of the marine. [SPEAKER_00]: And that's actually, I hadn't occurred to you to say that that's a great way to look at the death watches that these guys, it is a public competition. [SPEAKER_00]: that actually is real. [SPEAKER_00]: It's like having like, you know, an NFL combine or whatever, with the, where have the pro balls turned to do for the NFL? [SPEAKER_00]: Because if you guys aren't in the U.S., it's, you know, whatever, whatever means sport you have, they have some like all-star game where all the best players play together, but no one tries. [SPEAKER_00]: It's kind of stupid. [SPEAKER_00]: This one, no, it's all the best players playing together and trying. [SPEAKER_00]: And if they're honest, you get to go, oh, wow, like they did. [SPEAKER_00]: Like I said, name the legion, like the flesh terrors, you probably don't get to be in the death watch. [SPEAKER_00]: Those dudes kind of keep to themselves. [SPEAKER_00]: So not the flesh terrors. [SPEAKER_01]: Gabriel Seth probably isn't sending a whole out of guys. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but the Griffins, you know, it's like how good are the Griffins here? [SPEAKER_00]: All of the miniaturs, there are all these like these chapters sending guys over who performs the best and you can see it. [SPEAKER_00]: I would work it so out. [SPEAKER_00]: On the Smith thing, I want to spend some time here talking about some of the weaponry that's used by the death watch, mostly the quintessential weaponry. [SPEAKER_00]: And the first one is of course the frag cannon. [SPEAKER_00]: And the frag cannon I just think is hilarious, because the frag cannon is originally a dread not weapon. [SPEAKER_00]: The blood angle specifically put these frag cannons on their drones. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, however, the [SPEAKER_01]: Deathwatch put them on squads of guys. [SPEAKER_00]: It was a random blood angel artificer. [SPEAKER_00]: Figure out a way to make it smaller and made it handheld. [SPEAKER_00]: And then just gave it to it. [SPEAKER_00]: So we took a weapon for a dread not and just gave it to a dude to carry around. [SPEAKER_01]: These are really translate over, though. [SPEAKER_01]: This is one of the things that I think transferred pretty well from Lord of Team. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh yeah, because the fry kind of might be the one, I'll just say it. [SPEAKER_00]: If you have death watch veterans and they don't have fried cannons, you don't have to have them all with fried cannons, but like, why would especially, or later additions? [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, they're not as good right now, but they were, they were insane. [SPEAKER_00]: Eight to eight. [SPEAKER_00]: I think the, the eight thing, they just mop the floor. [SPEAKER_00]: So the fried cannon, [SPEAKER_00]: It's like, it just has two shots. [SPEAKER_00]: It's got a slug and like a buck shot version. [SPEAKER_00]: And this is the, it's as quintessential. [SPEAKER_00]: Do that. [SPEAKER_00]: Like I should. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: It's right. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't eat of them. [SPEAKER_00]: Very good. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: And what this does with the mix, it's so important is that allows them to handle single targets and hoard. [SPEAKER_00]: Because as we said, [SPEAKER_00]: When a death watch killed team is deployed, they just get from point A to point B. They have an idea of what will be there, but they're not a hundred percent. [SPEAKER_00]: And the fry cannon gives them this incredible versatility where they can put a slug and blast a hole through something, or they can leave it and leave it to kind of fry and just shred stuff. [SPEAKER_00]: So the fry cannons are quintessential, combined with the specialized ammo and eighth edition, [SPEAKER_00]: These did some stuff. [SPEAKER_00]: I watched death watch by his pickup like thirty packs of work like we are the thirty or boys. [SPEAKER_00]: They could pick them up with the loading on twos and everything else. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, moving on twos and the frag cannons and it was all the extra. [SPEAKER_00]: Similar to the frag cannons, you don't see as much of these as the infernist heavy bolter. [SPEAKER_00]: Another really cool weapon though. [SPEAKER_00]: This is a classic death watch weapon of let's just take a heavy bolter and slap a flame thrower under it. [SPEAKER_00]: They have a lot of that stuff on me as usual. [SPEAKER_00]: They'm a guy for a lot of stuff. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, it's always worth it. [SPEAKER_00]: Let's put these two things together and see what happens. [SPEAKER_01]: I've got duct tape. [SPEAKER_01]: Let's just make this a thing. [SPEAKER_00]: And it works, obviously, it works kind of similar to the frying cabinet. [SPEAKER_00]: You've got your heavy bolter, which allows me to blast through heavy armor, you know, and, but if that heavy armor, I mean, I think of this one as being basically made to the gene so they're called. [SPEAKER_00]: where you're coming in, like if you get close enough to the the primus, I can blast its head off with a heavy ballter, but I have to get through quite a few Neo-fixers. [SPEAKER_00]: There's so many idiots in the world. [SPEAKER_00]: So it's burn all of them. [SPEAKER_00]: And that's what weapons are made for. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm a huge fan of these, but one thing that we they do have though that unfortunately does not transfer the table top at all is the problem. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, they don't do anything with this at all to be, yeah, for this. [SPEAKER_00]: So in the lore, they had some of the ages vigilant, which is a special suit of power armor. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay, this is made canon conflict here, so get to it in a second, but we'll get to the this piece. [SPEAKER_00]: It is a special suit of power armor that was built by the art professors of the death watch, to specifically counter the weapons and tactics of the, you know, species. [SPEAKER_00]: So it's like, it's resistant to neckrun, [SPEAKER_01]: Well, the two biggest things is it was resistant to gauze and it was resistant to psychic attacks. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, exactly. [SPEAKER_00]: And beyond that, it also could have, it was also able to like have better visual tracking for Drew Carley. [SPEAKER_00]: So it was tuned up. [SPEAKER_00]: It was just incredible suit of armor. [SPEAKER_00]: It has no play on the tabletop whatsoever. [SPEAKER_00]: And the only issue with it, I have with the con, I like with that they wrote this, but they also write that a space marine is sent to the death watch with their armor by their chapter. [SPEAKER_00]: So I don't know when they would put this armor unless they juice up their armor. [SPEAKER_01]: They never really tell you because that you still have your shoulder pad and everything else that comes with it. [SPEAKER_01]: So I don't really know where [SPEAKER_00]: It's written down. [SPEAKER_00]: It's like, I'm like, it's also super cool. [SPEAKER_01]: Is it a thing that's in your armor or did you download a program that makes sure? [SPEAKER_00]: Maybe, yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know. [SPEAKER_00]: The concept is super cool. [SPEAKER_00]: It doesn't. [SPEAKER_00]: And this is a fairly common within GW to sense that if it doesn't exist in the tabletop rule, it's just kind of, it's there in the background. [SPEAKER_00]: And so my assumption is that someone [SPEAKER_00]: GW as you heard on our part that has made some rules, oopsies over the years. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm sure at some point someone said, well, I think the death watch, if a better save against Zeno weapons and luckily some of the rules writing teams said, please don't do that. [SPEAKER_01]: So you want to save on a two and hit noon on a two? [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: We're not, we're not going to, we can't handle that volume of angry email. [SPEAKER_00]: But however, one of the, the better pieces about this is, [SPEAKER_00]: the secret weapons that they carry. [SPEAKER_00]: So the fried kind of the artificial armor, the infernus heavy bolter, these are all, you know, these are weapons that are somewhat well known. [SPEAKER_00]: Then there's the other child. [SPEAKER_00]: I just want to say, there's a lot of other special weapons. [SPEAKER_00]: What I love about this is that all of these weapons kind of skirt, right on the edge, and by skirt and edge, I mean, they cross it constantly. [SPEAKER_01]: They cross the line and skipped past it. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: And this being said, we talked in the last time about how the chaplain is saying, you know, the person we're sending, can he keep our chapter secrets? [SPEAKER_00]: The death watch does it back. [SPEAKER_00]: And this is what's written down. [SPEAKER_00]: Should a death watch, remember, ever speak of the things of the weapon we use by death watch outside of the death watch, they will be hunted down and tortured to death. [SPEAKER_01]: I love the note on a show. [SPEAKER_00]: There words, not mine. [SPEAKER_00]: There words, not mine. [SPEAKER_00]: That means that a space marine group would hunt down another space marine for telling space marine about their weapons. [SPEAKER_00]: Yep. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Way to go, guys. [SPEAKER_00]: By the way, some of these are awesome. [SPEAKER_00]: This is my favorite. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, we'll start with the open one. [SPEAKER_00]: The Xenofase Blade. [SPEAKER_00]: These are so good. [SPEAKER_00]: These used to be so much matter and way better before. [SPEAKER_00]: They've, they've toned this army down. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, because these used to cut through invulses. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: The, the, the, the hyperfaids, sorens are just something that Death Watch has a lot of. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: The, the Zeno phase blades were [SPEAKER_01]: a hundred percent necron technology that they put into there. [SPEAKER_01]: Again, they took Zenos technology and put it right into. [SPEAKER_01]: And I love these because they just kind of cut through. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: We covered this section the assassins cast. [SPEAKER_00]: It's very similar to the blade used by the co-axis. [SPEAKER_00]: It's the same thing. [SPEAKER_00]: Co-exercolitis. [SPEAKER_00]: Co-execologists. [SPEAKER_00]: Co-execologists. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: No. [SPEAKER_00]: It was the count. [SPEAKER_00]: Actually, it's the count. [SPEAKER_00]: It's the count. [SPEAKER_00]: It's the count. [SPEAKER_00]: It's the count. [SPEAKER_00]: It's the count. [SPEAKER_00]: It's the play where as she swipes through it phases in and out of reality. [SPEAKER_00]: So you having armor doesn't mean enough. [SPEAKER_00]: It just it then reforms inside of you. [SPEAKER_00]: So you die and then informs and comes back. [SPEAKER_00]: They're used by all the watch captains. [SPEAKER_00]: Some actually some of the watch master's spear has bare at it. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: because they, and this is all background technology because they, they were the only ones that had it. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, besides anybody that got, got something from it. [SPEAKER_01]: And I love these though, because I just love the idea of them mass producing something that they wildly should not have. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and they just, you wonder how many inquisitors, because necrons aren't something that all ton of the imperium is ever seen. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: And you know, one has been in a fight and went, wait a minute. [SPEAKER_01]: I was with, hey, did you just parry my blade with my sword? [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I was fighting with the death watch when they, and like, yeah, like, [SPEAKER_00]: Like, this is not way in a minute. [SPEAKER_00]: Which tune world did that come from? [SPEAKER_00]: You know, afterwards, they're checking a serial number like, oh, that's why they can wake up. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's, it's a big deal on this. [SPEAKER_00]: And I love these weapons. [SPEAKER_01]: One, they look super cool. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, oh, they're modeled. [SPEAKER_00]: It's actually, it's fairly easy to paint them well because they've got the relief within the play. [SPEAKER_00]: It's actually if he's in the paint and you can add all this. [SPEAKER_00]: There's so many great colors you can add to it. [SPEAKER_01]: And they've got some cool animations on some of the, uh, not just art, but some of the animations that I put out. [SPEAKER_01]: They just, they look super, super cool. [SPEAKER_01]: I love as a weapon, because they style out, lower-wise. [SPEAKER_00]: So the guy was, the guy was, the guy was holding it. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it just looks super cool. [SPEAKER_01]: They just look super cool. [SPEAKER_01]: I like them on the, on the board, and I love them in the lore. [SPEAKER_01]: I just, I love the idea of having this forbidden weapon. [SPEAKER_01]: you give them to all of your commanders and stuff. [SPEAKER_01]: And you're like, you don't even tell the regular guys what this blade is. [SPEAKER_00]: It's just, it's just sharp. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: It's sharp and very colorful. [SPEAKER_00]: Why is it glowing like a light green color? [SPEAKER_00]: And blades do that. [SPEAKER_00]: And it does kind of look like the dark saber from the mantle. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you're right. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, very much so. [SPEAKER_00]: Now, another one I'd do love, though, is the Adamizer County. [SPEAKER_00]: Don't believe I've ever seen in the table though. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't think this exists at all. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, this one's just amazing in the lore. [SPEAKER_00]: So it's roots from the dark age of technology, and it's because this weapon is pure cruelty. [SPEAKER_00]: It resembles a melta gun. [SPEAKER_00]: And it fires these highly active particles as target. [SPEAKER_00]: When they hit the agitate and they basically boil the cellular structure of whatever they hit. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, it's to be too, because you go, hey, isn't that kind of like, gosh, you're like, no. [SPEAKER_00]: It's, I'm not, I'm not, I'm not shrimp gals again. [SPEAKER_00]: All right. [SPEAKER_01]: I know it's not what it's supposed to use, but I'm saying what it's supposed to do, what they describe and ask, yeah, this goes inside out. [SPEAKER_01]: This is crazy. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it melts you into group. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, it's also, it's, it's like what? [SPEAKER_01]: Venom cannons and stuff, too, from the turnets. [SPEAKER_01]: Have you done them, Canon? [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Because it sends a super heated bug base for you. [SPEAKER_01]: And then it melts you from the inside out. [SPEAKER_00]: These do the same type of a squid launcher as that should be squid. [SPEAKER_00]: And the squid tries to climb its way out of you. [SPEAKER_00]: It does all seem bad. [SPEAKER_00]: The atomizer cannons are amazing. [SPEAKER_00]: We're showing a table top. [SPEAKER_00]: Another one that's more just funny is the Balefire gun. [SPEAKER_00]: And so the Balefire gun is meant to be horrifying weapon. [SPEAKER_00]: That's it's only deployed against those who followed for this in the light of the amp. [SPEAKER_00]: You could never use a Balefire gun against anything in the Imperium. [SPEAKER_00]: It is a flamer that shoots radioactive fire. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Also, it shoots radioactifier right in front of you. [SPEAKER_01]: It's like the worst weapon to use. [SPEAKER_00]: I find this question. [SPEAKER_00]: This is the greatest adolescent boy concept I've ever heard of because like, well, yeah, I kind of flamed though when they go burn them, but what if it also irradiated, that'd be awesome. [SPEAKER_00]: There's no need for this. [SPEAKER_00]: No one has ever been burning alive and worried, oh no, I wonder if I'm going to get cancer. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't want to get rats because it's like, my prostate. [SPEAKER_00]: But you know what, GW, it was solid effort here. [SPEAKER_00]: It's funny, so I'll lean into it. [SPEAKER_01]: It's also, hey, wait a minute. [SPEAKER_01]: Am I going to get cancer for exactly this weapon next to me? [SPEAKER_01]: Why am I shooting cancer? [SPEAKER_00]: out of the barrel that's not that far from my face. [SPEAKER_00]: But one of the cool ones from a like, it's like, it's just this kind of a text that the text or says I'm gun. [SPEAKER_00]: Just harder for me to pronounce than it should be. [SPEAKER_00]: So this gun, I just like the story around. [SPEAKER_00]: It's fires an energy signature that specifically damages and drives out machine spirits from Italian. [SPEAKER_01]: Also, they don't see where this is coming from. [SPEAKER_01]: This only works against the imperial, other imperial. [SPEAKER_00]: No, they say it works. [SPEAKER_00]: It doesn't work as it works. [SPEAKER_00]: It works against them. [SPEAKER_00]: They were used for cow. [SPEAKER_00]: It's very heavily used against cow. [SPEAKER_01]: No, but I'm saying like it's specialized though. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, for this is an anti-appearee weapon, man. [SPEAKER_00]: It's most sort of it. [SPEAKER_00]: This is where I do read twice. [SPEAKER_00]: The first time you read it, you're right, but it's just an MP gun. [SPEAKER_00]: That's what it is. [SPEAKER_00]: In reality, because the thing is, it's the imperms. [SPEAKER_00]: They say, oh, it drives the machine spirit out, but it works really well on things that don't have machines. [SPEAKER_00]: There's a shuts it down. [SPEAKER_00]: What I love about because it was made, it's not way, but it was primarily used against the towel because this gun would just turn off the battles. [SPEAKER_00]: I wish we had these in the game. [SPEAKER_00]: In lore, you know, you know, you have my adding a weapon game that's just specifically bad for towel. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I support that. [SPEAKER_01]: I focus. [SPEAKER_01]: In lore, they just, this also has a [SPEAKER_01]: Shotgun spread and just so they would just hit a crisis team and just have him yeah, and he's a bunch of dudes stuck in a suit that can't move in and I want everybody to know I am physically showing. [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, Brad's doing a whole single cast. [SPEAKER_00]: No, I'm marrying that puppet show. [SPEAKER_00]: If you guys haven't seen Team America World Police, that's how this cast looks from my perspective as Brad goes through stuff. [SPEAKER_00]: Dirk and Dirk and Dirk and Dirk and Dirk. [SPEAKER_01]: I love this weapon. [SPEAKER_01]: They have stories. [SPEAKER_01]: They're old stories when they first have death watch, but they legitimately shoot this and you've got a bunch of guys frozen and are very tiny. [SPEAKER_01]: If their suit doesn't move well, [SPEAKER_00]: They're just standing, the noodles, they're just standing there and some of the water pushes it over. [SPEAKER_01]: And I love the lore in this because I get very excited about Death Watch clearly about some of these because they're so specific. [SPEAKER_01]: Death Watch is a great army now. [SPEAKER_01]: However, Death Watch used to be and we talked about since the last cast. [SPEAKER_01]: So specialized, if you were Zenos, and you don't want to play that. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you played Death Watch. [SPEAKER_01]: They had so, but they all, they're striped for out of it. [SPEAKER_01]: We didn't talk about this last time. [SPEAKER_01]: They're strats and stuff like that. [SPEAKER_00]: So the strats were all turned off. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, they only worked against Zenos. [SPEAKER_01]: So it's like, hey, am I playing? [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, I was playing another Imperium. [SPEAKER_01]: I guess I don't use any of my strats. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I am playing Zenos. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Cool. [SPEAKER_01]: Cool. [SPEAKER_00]: We plot my book and it's like live reading these awful laughing. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: They were just so brutal. [SPEAKER_01]: Like you're playing Tom. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to use this every turn. [SPEAKER_01]: You're going to be playing GSC. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yep. [SPEAKER_01]: Doing this every turn. [SPEAKER_01]: This seems unfair. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: This is terrible for you. [SPEAKER_00]: But one really, my great thing with the Texasism gun, remember earlier when I said the ad mech loved the death watch. [SPEAKER_00]: Not this. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, I'd make view this gun as an abomination. [SPEAKER_00]: Only abomination hunting it down to the point where the mechanics is working to destroy them, whatever they could find them. [SPEAKER_00]: So the death watch have to deploy them in secret. [SPEAKER_00]: Which, again, they had met, by the way, are trying to get rid of a gun that kills their god. [SPEAKER_00]: To them, this is a god destroying her. [SPEAKER_00]: So I kind of get where they're at on this one. [SPEAKER_00]: But the death watch have to hide the guns. [SPEAKER_00]: And when they deploy them, when they go onto a plane with them, they have to use them quickly and hide them again, because the ad-mec might just attack. [SPEAKER_00]: It gets entirely possibly epic, would bomb them from a space, just to kill a squad holding these. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, kind of, unfortunately, shot them the Ed Mac every single guy has enough Mac in him that this would probably be bad. [SPEAKER_00]: But for those of us who played the table top, one of the best parts about this is their specialized ammunition. [SPEAKER_00]: Especially ammunition is also great rule. [SPEAKER_00]: And they kind of brought it back right now, but it's not all the way back. [SPEAKER_00]: It's not what it just said. [SPEAKER_01]: It's more, it's strad based now. [SPEAKER_01]: You have to, it's not, it's not because it's supposed to be able to load out your, you used to be, I think this was [SPEAKER_01]: The eighth edition was probably closest. [SPEAKER_00]: They've been the eighth edition. [SPEAKER_00]: Deathwatch is the best version of the most more specific. [SPEAKER_00]: They were really, they really dialed in and it was broken AF. [SPEAKER_01]: But while when you were playing certain things and that's what the thing is, is this deafwatch is a specialized army? [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, would you replace here and it's and you can definitely watch the worst of it. [SPEAKER_00]: Shit was going down the death watch into tear and it's was the worst combo the death watch had because of in some of this ammunition we're gonna talk about it because they they counted so anyway [SPEAKER_00]: In general, the Laura on Space Marines just before saying that there's really innumerable, innumerable, both ammunition types, missile types, grenade types. [SPEAKER_00]: If you read any of the Black Library books, guys are pulling Rando grenades out at time that they're light, you're specific. [SPEAKER_00]: But none of that ever makes it to the table top. [SPEAKER_00]: The table top we have frag grenades and crack grenades. [SPEAKER_00]: That's it. [SPEAKER_00]: A couple guys have, what's the trip, the trip grenade to rest less than the charge? [SPEAKER_01]: Well, Heather's early. [SPEAKER_00]: Very few ones. [SPEAKER_00]: There's a couple little random ones, but in the lore, there are hundreds, if not potentially thousands. [SPEAKER_00]: And the idea is that the specialized weaponry can significantly affect the power output by telling it to a battlefield need. [SPEAKER_00]: The death watch though, take this to another level. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, so much. [SPEAKER_00]: And it's because, again, we've, we've had this before, by my keep harping it. [SPEAKER_00]: The death watcher deployed around the galaxy, and they constantly have different [SPEAKER_00]: physical compositions of Zenos, and they're also often not really aware of what they're going to be fighting. [SPEAKER_00]: So they go into battle, the laws of physics don't make sense with the amount of different ammo, they're just kind of carrying, but it does help because depending on what you're fighting, you need to figure out something that it works. [SPEAKER_01]: just such a wide degree. [SPEAKER_01]: They're effectively poisoned, they go and make fun of me for this. [SPEAKER_01]: But like, I'd say more than half of their special ammunition are toxins on there. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, it's because you can't just go to battle with the same thing. [SPEAKER_00]: Right. [SPEAKER_00]: Like, you know, if you take a dull stick and hit a towel with it, it's very effective. [SPEAKER_00]: But that same dull stick hitting a tear-and-warrier. [SPEAKER_00]: It does not. [SPEAKER_00]: Now you get bit. [SPEAKER_00]: You don't want to get bit. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, exactly. [SPEAKER_00]: So they adapt their tactics to handle each enemy. [SPEAKER_00]: So those of you who played Space Marine, too, that opening bit with a death watch are trying to deploy a virus bomb into the atmosphere to affect the tear-and-invasion fleet. [SPEAKER_00]: That's classic death watch tactic. [SPEAKER_01]: And they're tailoring a virus bomb specifically for that, because it's an organ, everything they have is organic. [SPEAKER_01]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_01]: So they're trying a virus bomb, targets organic material. [SPEAKER_00]: And even though it wouldn't kill them all off, we would slow down the invasions, they could do more stuff. [SPEAKER_00]: Where this goes much further down is, again, what we're talking about here, into ammunition. [SPEAKER_00]: So let's jump into some of the ammunition, because man, there's a PTSD, I have only six. [SPEAKER_00]: So the hellfire shells, my favorite? [SPEAKER_01]: is it ruined your army? [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, it did. [SPEAKER_00]: So the Hellfire shells are a bolt that has a hyperactive bio acid in their core, and it was built specifically for the Territons. [SPEAKER_00]: Once it gets to the chitlin on the outside of the tyrannet, and then the acid deploys and melts the creature from the inside. [SPEAKER_01]: And it's a big thing because the Territons were so adapting and adapting and making themselves more heavily armored, the tactics that the impereing was using, and these were [SPEAKER_01]: the counter to their adaptation, because you'd hit them and they'd go, oh, that did nothing. [SPEAKER_01]: And then the acid would seep in and burn them off. [SPEAKER_00]: And eat those things right? [SPEAKER_00]: These invalidated territories and hit the dish. [SPEAKER_01]: We was a big deal because of the fact that you're shooting these rounds that are doing huge damage to giant, tiered monsters that normally would do [SPEAKER_01]: Absolutely. [SPEAKER_01]: Nothing. [SPEAKER_00]: The tyrannics could shrug off a last cannon and a death watch guy with a bolt bolt. [SPEAKER_00]: That pistol. [SPEAKER_00]: That's true. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, cause you were going to have a quimp with you. [SPEAKER_00]: We've been doing it on a two and do serious damage. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, cause they were on two damage a piece worth. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, they could wreck through them pretty or that's back before we had actually had for much, much stuff. [SPEAKER_00]: It's had a high wound. [SPEAKER_00]: The next one is the Dragon Fire Bolt, which I also like a lot. [SPEAKER_00]: This one, as we said before, the standard space marine bolter shoots an RPG. [SPEAKER_00]: It's an RPG style. [SPEAKER_00]: The bolt goes in as soon as it feels a change in resistance, it then explodes on the inside, doing massive damage. [SPEAKER_00]: The dragon fire bolt just was that with a lot more explosive in it. [SPEAKER_00]: And it was designed to handle like hordes of low armor. [SPEAKER_01]: It's super armor. [SPEAKER_00]: They want it just to the it was. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it was made for a check. [SPEAKER_00]: The idea is that with one with one round when it explodes, I could take out two to five works if they were clustered together. [SPEAKER_00]: which they typically are because it works to tend to run there. [SPEAKER_00]: This again ripped my orcs to shreds. [SPEAKER_01]: Like there was I love some of these these these two are those are that these are the meat and potatoes of death watch ammunition. [SPEAKER_01]: These are just what they have. [SPEAKER_01]: They design these specifically and these are they crossover because [SPEAKER_01]: What are they fighting? [SPEAKER_01]: They're specifically fighting Xenos, they're fighting Orcs, they're fighting Ternans, they're fighting the GSC, G-Cilicol, these all work fantastic against their stand-off armies. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, and the next one is the Derevenant shells. [SPEAKER_00]: I wish they'd bring these back in the current edition, because they're made to handle the necrons. [SPEAKER_01]: And these are so cool models. [SPEAKER_00]: These are amazing and lore and honestly, the eighth edition, Necrons weren't very good. [SPEAKER_00]: And so you didn't deal with this very much, but with this, what this shell does is the core of it basically creates a disruption between the material and the hematarium, so it turns off reanimation process for backgrounds. [SPEAKER_01]: And we talked about the necrons, the necrons entire army and their philosophy is based on [SPEAKER_01]: We'll just re-animate whatever you can. [SPEAKER_00]: Whatever you kill will come back. [SPEAKER_00]: So imagine using this into a horde of scarves. [SPEAKER_00]: It was just a shock. [SPEAKER_01]: Giant and warriors, things like that. [SPEAKER_00]: The spiders, any of those that destroyers. [SPEAKER_00]: Look, well, that thing's gone now. [SPEAKER_00]: And again, I do it with a bolt pistol. [SPEAKER_00]: Now, this is not a, these aren't, when we talk about this death watch, ammo, like she showed me earlier, this isn't like a special ammo for one special gun. [SPEAKER_00]: Every single gun they fire has this ammo in it. [SPEAKER_01]: in that particular squad, because you'd make you to quit your squad with one type of ammo. [SPEAKER_00]: No, you could check. [SPEAKER_00]: No, no, I'm saying. [SPEAKER_00]: In the lore, you can on the tabletop and your tradition, you chose what I would be like to shoot, which one you were shooting. [SPEAKER_00]: Right. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm saying you guys had like the, it's like the old video game backpacks where there was everything. [SPEAKER_00]: It was unlimited, if it's already. [SPEAKER_00]: It's already like, you got a guy running around his carrying out. [SPEAKER_00]: Fifty-two guns and full ammo. [SPEAKER_01]: It just in the lore, you would just choose certain teams to have certain things. [SPEAKER_01]: But then you're kind of going, we know we're going to face this. [SPEAKER_00]: The last one though are the hell spears, which is a round that just covered in rooms that affect the war. [SPEAKER_00]: This one, this one hurt, this one may Brad some sad. [SPEAKER_00]: This may be sad. [SPEAKER_00]: This, this caused some sadness for Brad. [SPEAKER_00]: Real bad ones. [SPEAKER_00]: These ones could affect me go straight through a psychic defense. [SPEAKER_00]: So, namely, an old school was built. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: And it would do that, but it also, the old, old rule was it caused a parals. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: So, you would effectively scramble a psychers mind and he blew up psychic. [SPEAKER_00]: You would shoot the psycher. [SPEAKER_00]: He didn't get a proper save against it. [SPEAKER_00]: And then, yeah, and then he took a parals blow up. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: And he damaged everyone around him. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: And because they had such low woods, if they blew up, the next guy might blow up. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, if you've got a farce here, it's pretty good likely the warlocks were coming with. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you also had like, you just get this, bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo [SPEAKER_00]: on the table topic. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but it's I don't know. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm a weirdo in the fact I like having units and armies that are really good against certain things. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm not very good against other things. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, death watch used to ruin Zenos and it used to do men against everything else. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm a [SPEAKER_00]: And I could be wrong on this, and if you don't like this opinion, that's fine. [SPEAKER_00]: I can be wrong. [SPEAKER_00]: But my viewpoint has always been, I think, given the diversity, the number of armies within Forty Kay, I would like to see it where you do have auto wins. [SPEAKER_00]: Like, basically, every army has one auto win and one auto lose. [SPEAKER_00]: And then everything else got worth some, to me, a customer, and it's like, yeah, just a bit of luck on the draw. [SPEAKER_00]: Because as long as it's a law, as long as it follows a lower specific type style thing, I'm totally fine with that. [SPEAKER_01]: They try to make too many things for Nellon. [SPEAKER_01]: That's for a different cast. [SPEAKER_01]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_01]: But it is a real thing. [SPEAKER_01]: They made a lot of things from ModGenus, you know what I mean? [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: So anyway, we covered their gear pretty well. [SPEAKER_00]: Let's talk about the way that they fight. [SPEAKER_00]: We'll be right back after a quick break. [SPEAKER_00]: We've touched this in the last cast. [SPEAKER_00]: We'll do a bit more now. [SPEAKER_00]: The death watch are, they're the special forces of the space marines. [SPEAKER_00]: Now, within a space marine faction, they go to war supported by a massive force. [SPEAKER_00]: They've got heavy weapons, platforms, predators, repulsor tanks, orbital cannons, all that stuff. [SPEAKER_01]: The Navy Guard [SPEAKER_01]: The thing is we don't ever talk about that. [SPEAKER_01]: The only game a lot of times you just have marines. [SPEAKER_00]: But marines don't just show up when we talk about is it looks in the cast where like what they did, they they're more wise again would make sense to have your guard fight with your space marines and then people like you. [SPEAKER_00]: If you're welcome and took away all of our fun, but this is the death watch though, they're almost always, actually probably always outnumbered. [SPEAKER_01]: I would say I would go all in on saying they're always outnumbered because they deploy very small specialized squads. [SPEAKER_00]: And the death watch also will be deployed with the space. [SPEAKER_00]: So we just said the space rings might the space rings and the guard or maybe fighting a battle. [SPEAKER_00]: The death watch are going to hit the same. [SPEAKER_00]: Maybe not the same battle but the same planet to or same system to do something to turn the time. [SPEAKER_01]: They haven't different. [SPEAKER_01]: target, they have a different, it's much target, they have a different tactical goal because they're trying to do something specific. [SPEAKER_00]: So one of my favorite examples of this, and we hinted it last time with us right now, is the second battle of Damno's. [SPEAKER_00]: So Damno's was a Neckon, Neckon Awakening on this planet and it directs the ultramarines in the sector. [SPEAKER_00]: So Calgar and Secara decided that [SPEAKER_00]: defeat was not going to happen and they re engaged in that grounds but they brought the death watch with them at this stage in this is such a good story well [SPEAKER_00]: So at this stage, the Imperium actually realized how the Necrons were waging war. [SPEAKER_00]: And they knew that when they slayed an overlord, they would teleport back into their tomb to be repaired and rejoined the battle. [SPEAKER_00]: And so long as that overlord's alive, the Necrons functioned. [SPEAKER_01]: And the thing is, is that the overlord usually had tech on him. [SPEAKER_01]: that hated the reanimation also. [SPEAKER_01]: So he was making people come back faster, winning him back to the tomb. [SPEAKER_01]: He was also speeding up the process. [SPEAKER_01]: He'd most of the time, he'd show up with his entire retinue. [SPEAKER_00]: Right back. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, he would work down, and within a few minutes, he's back with everybody. [SPEAKER_00]: So the death watched and realized, so the space Marines realized, they had to kill this overlord, and they decided the best way to do this is to send a death watch kill team into the monolith. [SPEAKER_01]: And a model is a flying building. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it just is. [SPEAKER_00]: So I don't know how they got in there. [SPEAKER_00]: They just did. [SPEAKER_00]: And they fought through. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I need to really accept the stage of how bad ass this is. [SPEAKER_00]: They are inside in that crime too. [SPEAKER_00]: fighting warriors, scarves, and there's scarves that table top are very different scarves in the lore. [SPEAKER_00]: Raiths are coming in out of the wall. [SPEAKER_01]: All horde of them because they are fixing everything. [SPEAKER_01]: Also, you've got it for good. [SPEAKER_01]: You know, you put the rates of stuff. [SPEAKER_01]: There's spiders ever. [SPEAKER_00]: Because those of them don't see on the table top anymore. [SPEAKER_01]: They see them one. [SPEAKER_01]: They need to give a phenopane horn. [SPEAKER_01]: But you see these spiders, which are [SPEAKER_01]: Huge constructs which are in charge of just making and fixing things. [SPEAKER_00]: And they're everywhere in here. [SPEAKER_00]: They're everywhere. [SPEAKER_00]: They're all engaging the death watch and they're doing this by the way through a building. [SPEAKER_00]: They don't have a map for. [SPEAKER_00]: So they just have to, but they can figure out get to the middle. [SPEAKER_00]: And so they fight their way all the way to the middle and they find the main sarcophagus of the crypt and then place Melta bombs all over it. [SPEAKER_00]: That's the funny thing. [SPEAKER_01]: In this story, it's already heroic and also, but they also brought a comical amount of bombs because they didn't know what they were going to need. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, one Melta bomb will blow up in the land right there. [SPEAKER_00]: They've got all. [SPEAKER_00]: They put them all on this thing as what happens is they time it well They they lie in weight they hold their ground, but for whatever reason you know the overlord above ground doesn't know what's happening Calgar and and team kill the overlord overlord warps down it basically opens his eyes in his tomb to look at Melta bombs covering them everyone [SPEAKER_00]: And a death watch sergeant giving him the thing as he exploded a thing. [SPEAKER_00]: Dooses. [SPEAKER_00]: You don't melt a bomb jump. [SPEAKER_00]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and so the death watch that watch the space is win the battle of down those. [SPEAKER_00]: I they also do talk about the fact that they overexploited it because they're just like yeah run [SPEAKER_00]: It was a bit of an oopsie, but it was so cool. [SPEAKER_00]: But that little, this action probably saved thousands of Marines for sure. [SPEAKER_01]: Because cutting through the retina of the overlorn, it's his best warriors. [SPEAKER_01]: You've got rich guard and stuff like that. [SPEAKER_01]: And you're taking so many casualties from them. [SPEAKER_01]: because they have their best weapons in arm? [SPEAKER_00]: Well, because the way the Necrons fight in the lore is as you would kill those lichas, they would teleport off, but it's like they wouldn't knock them down around, they would teleport off, so without the overlord, they won't come back, so the battle's over, and then you can go blow up the thing. [SPEAKER_00]: Another one I do like is when they deploy his dealer cults, this is because death watch actually engaged, he's already called more than any other space marine chapter. [SPEAKER_01]: I wish they had more of these stories. [SPEAKER_01]: One of my favorite things about the death watch versus GSC is the GSC, or sorry, the death watch going against the jeans dealer calling. [SPEAKER_01]: The death watch are just trained for what to look to. [SPEAKER_00]: So they sniff them all real quick. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and that's the thing. [SPEAKER_00]: Because remember, the death watch are part of autosinos. [SPEAKER_00]: And that one of the main things autosinos does is deal with genes, are called incursions, because it's between that and cultists, or all the behind enemy lines. [SPEAKER_01]: It's a huge problem. [SPEAKER_01]: As this stuff happens in your [SPEAKER_01]: We talked in jeans today called we did that our cast on it. [SPEAKER_01]: I do. [SPEAKER_01]: It's one of my favorite cast we did. [SPEAKER_01]: It's a big deal because if you ruin a high world, that's a big deal for the impairment. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's a massive deal for the impairment and not all of you. [SPEAKER_00]: It's so they they're causing hardening these things down because of this. [SPEAKER_00]: The death watch are to Brad's point, experts at Friday. [SPEAKER_00]: It's not just for the genes, but also finding the genes. [SPEAKER_00]: They know all the signs of them. [SPEAKER_00]: They know what to look for. [SPEAKER_00]: And so they have, this is really critical because of exterminates. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, it's a big deal in this because they don't want to exterminate. [SPEAKER_01]: They want to keep this high world churning out hub caps, whatever they're making because the GSC encourages more often than not are on important. [SPEAKER_00]: But you can't blow up a high world. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, it's such a big deal in this. [SPEAKER_01]: The problem is, when the death watch uncover some stuff, they're usually aha. [SPEAKER_01]: And then they go, oh, man, there's thousands of these guys around us. [SPEAKER_00]: Millions. [SPEAKER_00]: Millions. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm just talking to their immediate, yeah, what's happening. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: The death watch didn't have to go. [SPEAKER_00]: All right. [SPEAKER_00]: Boots of media has kicking. [SPEAKER_00]: What am I? [SPEAKER_00]: And it is these stories are epic because what they do is the death watch know only that if you hunt down the patriarch and the maguses, the rest of the GSC just kind of fall apart because they're just like the tyrannies, they do have a variation of a hive mind that controls it. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, take that leadership away. [SPEAKER_00]: The vast majority of genes that are called are like Intel IQ one, like they're just, well, a lot of your tunes don't even realize what's going on. [SPEAKER_01]: If you kill the patriarch of a sudden you go, oh, I'm super weird. [SPEAKER_00]: What the hell is happening to me right now? [SPEAKER_00]: What's happening? [SPEAKER_00]: Why am I so slow? [SPEAKER_00]: So what the death watch do is are masters hunting down? [SPEAKER_00]: the Patriarch and the maguses because the maguses can also take over a little bit. [SPEAKER_00]: And once they've hunted them down, then they just mop up what's left off of the guard members. [SPEAKER_01]: They also don't have instantaneous response because they can communicate all over the planet. [SPEAKER_01]: And once you take this away, [SPEAKER_01]: It's a big deal. [SPEAKER_01]: And the death watch are amazing. [SPEAKER_01]: And there's so many good stories. [SPEAKER_00]: These stories are great. [SPEAKER_00]: So the way this process usually works is the inquisition notices something's a muck somewhere. [SPEAKER_00]: And they go in and do their own investigation upon an investigation. [SPEAKER_00]: They realize, OK, there is a geosular cult in fact here at which point they call the death watch. [SPEAKER_00]: And the death watch don't come in as before. [SPEAKER_00]: They're coming guns blazing. [SPEAKER_00]: They come in sneaky as sneaky as a seven foot, four hundred [SPEAKER_00]: And this is what we're going to do. [SPEAKER_00]: But they used to play in the height of the shadows and wait because they know what they're looking for. [SPEAKER_00]: They're not looking for the regular is it neophytes. [SPEAKER_00]: You know, if it's a hybrids, they're waiting for the Patriarch because they will just lose eventually the attrition will just bring them down. [SPEAKER_00]: And so they get the Patriarch and they kill it. [SPEAKER_00]: And then as soon as they kill the Patriarch, that's when they also go hard because as we, you know, you know, like the castle, we'll listen to it. [SPEAKER_00]: The Patriarch is the most powerful, but there's still our sub commanders, which call them maguses. [SPEAKER_00]: As long as the maguses are there, the gene circle can still function while the wall waiting for a new. [SPEAKER_01]: In these teams might be on other sides of the world. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, exactly. [SPEAKER_00]: And they hit them all together. [SPEAKER_00]: And once the movie ended, what happened is like, as we said in the cast, the geese sort of cult member is like some of the most like the bomb in it's, for example, they hide them really well. [SPEAKER_00]: So you'll see them. [SPEAKER_00]: But without these leaders, those bombs were just come wandering down the hallway like, you're like, hey, janitors look at pretty funny right now. [SPEAKER_00]: And so at this point, they bring in the imperial guard to hunt down the rest and save a planet. [SPEAKER_00]: in the infrastructure. [SPEAKER_01]: The infrastructure is so much more important than the people come on. [SPEAKER_01]: We can get more people. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah, we work. [SPEAKER_00]: And here is in terms of really going to make him people. [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, not keep him around making. [SPEAKER_00]: Make him. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: So many people. [SPEAKER_00]: Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. [SPEAKER_00]: We don't want to get a new line going. [SPEAKER_00]: One interesting thing. [SPEAKER_00]: This is my opinion, so I can be wrong about this. [SPEAKER_00]: But I do believe the death watch may be the most diplomatically friendly. [SPEAKER_00]: internally, inside the imperial. [SPEAKER_01]: I was thinking about this when I first read when I was getting ready for this cast. [SPEAKER_01]: And there's not that many, I don't even know if there is. [SPEAKER_01]: I might be wrong for throwing me out there in the comments if you could. [SPEAKER_01]: But almost everybody's cool with having death watch show up. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Because they don't mess anything up for you either. [SPEAKER_00]: That's why everyone's okay with it. [SPEAKER_00]: Not only that though, they're also really good internal dough diplomacy. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, they don't cause trouble. [SPEAKER_01]: Like, if somebody from Ortiz Malia shows up, [SPEAKER_01]: You might have them interrogating you guys. [SPEAKER_01]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_01]: The death watch don't care. [SPEAKER_00]: They've nothing happened. [SPEAKER_00]: They've worked well with the AdMec, the sisters, all of the different factions of the lords of Terra, they work with them. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, because they're doing, because basically what I will say is the entirety of the Imperium is aligned on two things. [SPEAKER_00]: Chaos Bad. [SPEAKER_00]: Aliens bet for the chaos bad things tricky because there's a lot of like do we know chaos exists blah blah blah blah. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I also do we need to kill those people that fought the cast are some of your guys now cast that doesn't happen with the death watch. [SPEAKER_00]: They're like, yeah, we killed the aliens and now we're leaving because the aliens don't infect things like that. [SPEAKER_00]: Right. [SPEAKER_00]: If I killed every alien, we're good now. [SPEAKER_00]: You guys can go back and leaving. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, we're as with the chaos. [SPEAKER_00]: It's like [SPEAKER_00]: All right, which one of you is secretly a zinched clone? [SPEAKER_00]: I have to do this. [SPEAKER_00]: And so that's why everyone likes them. [SPEAKER_00]: What's even more impressive of me though is how well the death watch handle internal rivalries within their kill teams. [SPEAKER_00]: Because we've covered this in the past. [SPEAKER_00]: But like, for example, dark angels in the space walls, they've got their little rivalry where they have their, like every thousand years. [SPEAKER_00]: Me, me, never hear, man. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: But they also have the white scars and the Ravenguard we have in touch on. [SPEAKER_00]: They have a day of issues getting back to the Horace Heresy. [SPEAKER_00]: That's eleven thousand years of the Iron Hands and the Ultramarines have pretty serious disagreements on Codex of Stardes, like how at like one of them feels it's pretty absolute. [SPEAKER_00]: The other ones much more on Gajai. [SPEAKER_00]: It's like the pirate code, exactly. [SPEAKER_00]: It's the suggestion that we're guideline. [SPEAKER_00]: Within the death watch, so these guys fight next to each other, like it's nothing. [SPEAKER_00]: And some of the stories are cool where they'll actually, they'll get along so well that when they go back to their chapters after serving, they'll speak highly of some of their rival chapters. [SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, we're talking about the space walls primarily. [SPEAKER_00]: It's most of the space. [SPEAKER_00]: So it's going back. [SPEAKER_00]: Turns out they're not all poses. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's a big deal, though, for especially, I'll go for my moves. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, is for a lot of the marine chapters, especially space ones. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, once you prove yourself to be a hero, you just are. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, like, yeah, sure. [SPEAKER_01]: We disagree enough much stuff, but [SPEAKER_01]: That guy was heroic. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: So, there's so many space bulbs who've come back from Death Watch, dude, and being like, yeah, actually, they can fight. [SPEAKER_00]: It's really like, I saw it happen. [SPEAKER_00]: It was Imperial fist, and he just blasted this guy in the face. [SPEAKER_00]: Like, it was cool, like, letting you know. [SPEAKER_01]: I do like, and that's the thing is that also you're pushing for, you have to be awesome when you're there at Death Watch. [SPEAKER_01]: Because, and this is something that doesn't get thrown out because they fool. [SPEAKER_01]: You always play with two thousand points in a game. [SPEAKER_01]: Deathwatcher never playing with two thousand points. [SPEAKER_01]: Deathwatch should have like [SPEAKER_01]: Wait, it's not even that big. [SPEAKER_01]: They're also just not showing up. [SPEAKER_01]: They've got two thousand points that are spread out over five battles. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, yeah, if you're playing death watch, I mean, this dude, if your death walks in a table top should be playing actually a different game. [SPEAKER_00]: We're like, you know, they're fighting. [SPEAKER_00]: You've got your elder. [SPEAKER_00]: I've got my death watch. [SPEAKER_00]: You've got two thousand points. [SPEAKER_00]: I've got three hundred and fifty, but all I have to is get my three hundred and fifty to this one thing over there. [SPEAKER_00]: We treat it first one thing and I went. [SPEAKER_00]: That's it. [SPEAKER_01]: You also should be playing kill team. [SPEAKER_01]: with the death watch plays. [SPEAKER_01]: They fight in kill teams. [SPEAKER_01]: So they definitely are better in the boarding action. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, boarding actions. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that's a really good way to play death watch is boarding a hundred. [SPEAKER_00]: It is a chief achieve this goal with your small squad. [SPEAKER_01]: And that's what they're trying to do, because your death watch should be, you should be playing your space walls, and there should be a death watch kill team over here doing whatever the hell they're supposed to do. [SPEAKER_00]: And you're kind of supporting them. [SPEAKER_00]: We're not going to bring back the allies, but death watch would have made sense as a hell. [SPEAKER_01]: Space rate too does do a good job of this stuff. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, so yes. [SPEAKER_01]: In the campaigns, sure. [SPEAKER_00]: So let's go into this a little bit more. [SPEAKER_00]: Another one that I like with the death watch is they're interaction with the attack. [SPEAKER_00]: So in Space Marine, too, if you guys haven't played it, it's a good game. [SPEAKER_00]: You should play it. [SPEAKER_00]: You learn every, there's a massive, just inherent distrust between, I, I've met, and in Space Marine. [SPEAKER_01]: I've watched the story so much. [SPEAKER_01]: I've played the game, but I'm just so bad at shooting. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm a bad, bad, bad. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, the bride doesn't have the, [SPEAKER_00]: I'm not good at the music. [SPEAKER_00]: Don't get me wrong. [SPEAKER_00]: I am like you and I both like a good turn base. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm a turn base. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm a question with turn. [SPEAKER_01]: I love a good. [SPEAKER_01]: Preview turn based on. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: I play so badly at shooters that you're like, are you trying right now? [SPEAKER_00]: It's actually because you are a master of the ops of the shooter civilization. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: I'll sit there and play Civ six the whole way through. [SPEAKER_00]: Yep. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay. [SPEAKER_01]: Turned based anything's good for me, but I've watched the space bring to all cutscenes all the way through several times because I'm a psycho. [SPEAKER_01]: I said the other day in our discord. [SPEAKER_01]: Is it wrong that I psyched myself up by listening to marine speeches before I get up in the morning? [SPEAKER_00]: I wasn't, it's basically my dress. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm incredible. [SPEAKER_00]: That's it. [SPEAKER_00]: Like there's the whole calagarp that's jumping off the foot under hog, like, not even caring. [SPEAKER_00]: Walking into the, just walking into the forno. [SPEAKER_01]: The demons as the agent is killing them all. [SPEAKER_01]: The speech that they get, the guys gave to the canyons. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: And they're just like, I don't care what's happening. [SPEAKER_01]: I hear like, I just listen at all the time. [SPEAKER_01]: Do you think it's some great stuff with this? [SPEAKER_00]: It's based green too. [SPEAKER_00]: Going back to where we're getting that. [SPEAKER_00]: But AdMek playing a lot. [SPEAKER_00]: And the thing about the AdMek is that the general AdMek care about one thing and one thing and that's technology. [SPEAKER_00]: And this creates a bit of a problem for a lot of the people in the Imperium because the AdMek have no care compassion for life, especially the lives of others. [SPEAKER_00]: And they're happy to throw away lives in order to get something. [SPEAKER_00]: I think it's zero shit. [SPEAKER_00]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_00]: The flip side, though, is that you know who comes in the contact with more technology than anyone, the death watch. [SPEAKER_00]: I have a weird relationship with a death watch because the death watch are their best opportunity to get there. [SPEAKER_00]: So the death watch, I might actually get along really well. [SPEAKER_00]: It's what I'm getting at. [SPEAKER_00]: They get along really, really well. [SPEAKER_00]: And they act like really support them. [SPEAKER_00]: heavily. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, it's easy to support on them on this because they operate in the, what's not even gray air. [SPEAKER_01]: It's not. [SPEAKER_01]: But it's not chaos. [SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean? [SPEAKER_01]: It's not infecting and stuff. [SPEAKER_01]: It's not just exactly. [SPEAKER_01]: Zeno's technology. [SPEAKER_01]: And why would I let that go to waste? [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean, but I can use it. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, look, the truth is, tell battle suits this, in pairing with love battles. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, my gosh, change the entire thing. [SPEAKER_01]: Take all the casings. [SPEAKER_01]: It's good. [SPEAKER_01]: As much as we pull on that, but like, if you could go, hey, instead of terminator hammer, you're all in crisis suits. [SPEAKER_00]: Yes. [SPEAKER_00]: But it might be a specific thing. [SPEAKER_00]: They could take casings or castor cans and put them in a crisis suit. [SPEAKER_00]: That seems to be working pretty well. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: We lined up all the castred kids and put them in dial bail medicines. [SPEAKER_00]: So as we've covered in the past a lot of the top technology in the galaxy belongs as you know races. [SPEAKER_00]: So this death watch ad mech Alliance is finding ways to take this technology and use it for their own armaments, but truly to improve what we were just just discussing about game battles suits for castred kids. [SPEAKER_00]: This is how it happens. [SPEAKER_00]: So death watch after every single engagement come back, not only with the spoils of war of what left over, but also recordings of what was going to how it worked, what it worked, what they were doing, and then the ad make take this, and they just start dissecting not only what's brought back from the battlefield, but also giving them ideas for new technology. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I'll just go out, grab a stack. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, they've been a bunch of this stuff in my house. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, this, this, I, when you look at a repulsive grave tank, and then you look at Eldar, the Eldar tanks. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, that's the hilarious part is the Edmund kind of figure out how they're going to show this without it being heresy. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: So it has to be just a little bit better, just a little bit better, but I love everything about this. [SPEAKER_01]: In the fact that they also, they had to do a good job of realizing, we're the youngest race besides now. [SPEAKER_01]: In the galaxy, of course, they're going to have something we're going to use because they've had millions of years to figure some tech out. [SPEAKER_01]: We should be used. [SPEAKER_00]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_00]: And this tech is massive again for those of you who are newer than the game, maybe not aware of this, but a lot of the current like big stuff the space summaries have is new to the game. [SPEAKER_00]: You know, we are the tanks were predators and land raiders. [SPEAKER_00]: And then there's all things on the trees. [SPEAKER_00]: Everything was on treads. [SPEAKER_00]: Now they fly like the other. [SPEAKER_00]: Yep. [SPEAKER_00]: There's just corn. [SPEAKER_01]: They're using graph. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Everything that other uses graph tanks went on. [SPEAKER_01]: And then in the Imperium, [SPEAKER_01]: As of eighth edition, we're currently in ten. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Got graph tanks. [SPEAKER_00]: In the case of ad mech, those graph things couldn't fly. [SPEAKER_00]: They used to fly. [SPEAKER_00]: We remember that they couldn't. [SPEAKER_00]: Remember that they had all the space marine ones could. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I don't know the history. [SPEAKER_00]: And you broke that. [SPEAKER_00]: I've put them atop the building. [SPEAKER_00]: It's not my fault. [SPEAKER_00]: That actually is a photo of your army. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm not going to talk about that. [SPEAKER_00]: There are me that that your army got referenced in a GW article of no you can't do this. [SPEAKER_00]: I couldn't at the time. [SPEAKER_00]: I know. [SPEAKER_00]: Meanwhile, he had me got that weird transport that was like, how is it? [SPEAKER_00]: It's flying above the ground. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's not flying. [SPEAKER_00]: But an inch. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: It has no flight keyword. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Anyway. [SPEAKER_00]: This technology that we're discussing here obviously is huge Necron phase technology, cow plasma, also even elder micro filament becomes really really useful, but not only the weapon, but also the defenses to it. [SPEAKER_00]: Because the other piece too is being able to build [SPEAKER_00]: technology in weaponry within the Imperium that can withstand us because what we should also mention here is that all of the Imperium's sake this new weapon this new technology comes in they improve the weapons they improve the armor you know who can't do that [SPEAKER_00]: Chaos. [SPEAKER_00]: Yep. [SPEAKER_00]: So this is why Chaos players, the space Marines get better, better saves than you do. [SPEAKER_00]: Your, yes, your soldiers should probably, should probably hit on two because they are ten thousand years old. [SPEAKER_01]: You, you, you should have figured it out. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you should be a better fire than. [SPEAKER_00]: Eric, who just, but you also have the same shit you've all seen. [SPEAKER_00]: You're wearing the same sort of armor you went into the warp with. [SPEAKER_01]: You can get a demon if you. [SPEAKER_01]: There's stuff to be argued for. [SPEAKER_01]: But if it's not demon if you. [SPEAKER_01]: It's, yeah, you, the new imperium stuff is just better. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, every line of gravis and primaries did. [SPEAKER_01]: Sorry old Marines, but like all you're the new stiffs, just bigger fester's better. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: And just protects better. [SPEAKER_00]: One area though that the Ad Mac really get to have fun is in biologic weapons. [SPEAKER_00]: Kind of like, you know, in the modern world. [SPEAKER_00]: We don't use this technology. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, there's a big deal in this because most of [SPEAKER_01]: The marine chapters still think of war as something they want to win, but it's still honorable combat and everything else. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, the bear went to me on that, though, is it's more, you can't use biologic weapons. [SPEAKER_00]: Let's see, Creek, for example. [SPEAKER_00]: I grew in the plant. [SPEAKER_00]: It was a pipe because it affects all of you. [SPEAKER_00]: However, if the thing you're affecting is as Zenos, you can go much more to town and not really worry about. [SPEAKER_00]: So one thing that the admec and the death watch do really well is make special biologic and chemical weapons that the design just to kill Zenos. [SPEAKER_01]: This is a huge deal because they've tailored toxins to just kill. [SPEAKER_01]: Tell all the alternatives, whatever. [SPEAKER_00]: And this becomes in the lore, one of the key pieces of things that the death watched it. [SPEAKER_00]: We talked about earlier about you when they put a bunch of melt bombs on it. [SPEAKER_00]: Overlord fine, but actually a lot of what they do is deploying these chemicals, these toxins on battlefronts to turn the turntides. [SPEAKER_00]: Again, there's no danger. [SPEAKER_00]: I could theory disperse this into the atmosphere and all the humans there would be fine. [SPEAKER_00]: So it's great to be able to be able to get a C by the way. [SPEAKER_00]: It's a big deal. [SPEAKER_00]: It's a system, all the GSC died and the non-GSC are there. [SPEAKER_00]: Why is everyone lying in the ground convulsing? [SPEAKER_01]: You said this before on this with the grenades. [SPEAKER_01]: That's one thing that I wish we had more in the game. [SPEAKER_01]: Because in the lore, they just show up with the bat anti-sharp. [SPEAKER_01]: They have an answer to whatever they're coming against. [SPEAKER_01]: and they have grenades that just are horrific versus elder. [SPEAKER_00]: You know, whenever this is my anti-eldog grenade. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it does nothing to anybody else. [SPEAKER_01]: It's just a super toxin for you specifically. [SPEAKER_00]: And that's what I should do is they deploy these things all of these kinds of properties to high-level events and they set off a virus bomb. [SPEAKER_00]: And now, an entire section of an enemy invasion just dies in an instant. [SPEAKER_00]: From that, I kind of went transition from there to one of my favorite parts of the death watch, which is the long watches on the edges of the galaxy. [SPEAKER_00]: So, this last time a little bit, I went dive it more into it. [SPEAKER_00]: Every death watch member is sent to a fortress or there's no terrible or a station. [SPEAKER_00]: And these stations and fortresses are strategically chosen due to their, but they're all over the place. [SPEAKER_00]: But with each of them is strategically chosen to deal with a specific Xeno threat in that area, or it's a pure dark space. [SPEAKER_00]: Now, [SPEAKER_00]: GW, when they write well, they write real well, and they went hard into these fortresses. [SPEAKER_00]: They made some of them just light years cool. [SPEAKER_00]: So for example, those ones on the edge of town space, the orc worlds. [SPEAKER_00]: Those ones that are following old art craft worlds, we're going to talk with those in a minute. [SPEAKER_00]: And you know, runs just like the eye of terror and more. [SPEAKER_00]: Let's talk with the main one. [SPEAKER_00]: So the main fortress is called Talasa Prime, and it's actually within Ultramar. [SPEAKER_00]: This is the main spot. [SPEAKER_00]: This is actually not placed there for Z. You know, so this is place as the research hub. [SPEAKER_00]: So all the death watch, this is coordinates. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, it's where all the R&D work goes. [SPEAKER_00]: They're evaluating a lot of the testing of weaponry. [SPEAKER_00]: And it's actually, you know, it's kind of the main hub. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, have death watch. [SPEAKER_01]: But it's not like this is a castle. [SPEAKER_01]: It's not a small fortress. [SPEAKER_01]: It's a planet. [SPEAKER_01]: It's an entire planet. [SPEAKER_01]: His design is [SPEAKER_01]: just working on death watch stuff. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: But that being said, that one's not interesting to me. [SPEAKER_00]: The ones that are going to meet are the ones that are further out. [SPEAKER_00]: So for example, the fits fear of expansion by the towel, there was a watch forters called the diatomic least that was there. [SPEAKER_00]: And it kind of wrecked it. [SPEAKER_01]: Wait, man, they have a couple of these. [SPEAKER_01]: They have to, we'll talk about this one, but like, they have to give [SPEAKER_01]: They went big D Jones on a couple of these fortresses because they just went. [SPEAKER_01]: Dink, here's a fortress where right in front of the guys. [SPEAKER_00]: So that's what I'm saying. [SPEAKER_00]: We talked about some of the fifth year of of expansion of the town hasn't gone well. [SPEAKER_00]: It's because as they that they began their expansion, the eye of Damikley's was right there and they launched full scale counter attack right in the top before they even saw it was coming. [SPEAKER_01]: They did the same thing versus the uh, uh, Kronos uh, wing of the uh, Tearn it, turn into Asian. [SPEAKER_00]: Carlos, it was, it was, it was, it was a Carlos. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think it was Carlos was coming in. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and then the, yeah, but station was just right. [SPEAKER_00]: Nope. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it doesn't happen. [SPEAKER_01]: It was just like, we're right here right now. [SPEAKER_01]: You're like, you're right in the way. [SPEAKER_01]: You're like, yeah, we're, we're putting on a new point. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: He's of the delicacies. [SPEAKER_00]: One, for example, this, they were meant for town. [SPEAKER_00]: So the town were beginning an expansion. [SPEAKER_00]: They hit a force that was tailored specifically to fighting them, new their tactics, new their everything, and recognize them. [SPEAKER_01]: It was just so funny because the towel had never experienced that either. [SPEAKER_01]: It just, it was anti-tile weaponry. [SPEAKER_01]: They went, what the hell is this? [SPEAKER_00]: That just happened. [SPEAKER_00]: That being said, though, the other really cool thing is that while like Damik Lee's and Talasa were built by the Imperium for the Death Watch, a bunch of the others, [SPEAKER_00]: are claimed, which makes to which makes these ones really cool. [SPEAKER_00]: One of my favorites is Demaroth, which is a massive fortress that is actually a ring around a moon. [SPEAKER_00]: It's like the symbol of the rings of Saturn or Uranus. [SPEAKER_00]: No way it wasn't going to say that. [SPEAKER_00]: But it's a solid structure and the imperial one day just found it abandoned and like a bunch of hobos just moved into it instantly they're like the best part is is it was clearly Zenos yeah, yeah, they're like this is us now. [SPEAKER_00]: Yep. [SPEAKER_00]: This is ours [SPEAKER_00]: They to this point have no idea who built it or when it was built and they found six of them and all of them sit within the void of the Milky Way. [SPEAKER_00]: Another one is just why because it was we killed them and then went [SPEAKER_00]: Thanks for your stuff. [SPEAKER_00]: Go get your own. [SPEAKER_00]: So the death of the watch, unlike, you know, the last time that I'm like damn well, which we talked about, we're knowing those were it came from. [SPEAKER_00]: We're very well aware of where's there. [SPEAKER_00]: I got came from because they took it. [SPEAKER_00]: There was a race called the Mughalari. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to go away. [SPEAKER_00]: There's a penance edition. [SPEAKER_01]: He also, he's telling me just took it. [SPEAKER_01]: And it's not like we defeated them. [SPEAKER_01]: We killed all of them. [SPEAKER_00]: The story's awesome. [SPEAKER_00]: Actually, this will be if this is a fun story. [SPEAKER_00]: So then [SPEAKER_01]: I think we start off and we're about to tell how about the genocide of a race. [SPEAKER_01]: It's bad and down guys. [SPEAKER_01]: It's hilarious. [SPEAKER_00]: So the Mulari are a race that actually were preservers of knowledge and information. [SPEAKER_00]: And the Imperium just went, yeah, that's not cool. [SPEAKER_00]: And largely full-scale attack on them, defeated them all the way back to their main plan, the main fortress, which is obviously Zara back. [SPEAKER_00]: Once they got there, they decided the best way to handle a race who are masters of knowledge and information is to invade their fortress and burn everything all the way down. [SPEAKER_00]: All their data crystals, all their knowledge banks, everything. [SPEAKER_00]: And after burning all of this down, including all of the people that were there, everything there, they, I guess, got servitors to gather all the ashes that were left over. [SPEAKER_00]: People, all the ashes, shelved them in a rocket and fired their weapons. [SPEAKER_00]: because like, take move, man. [SPEAKER_00]: See no technology is heretical. [SPEAKER_00]: And we're gonna solve that by firing it literally into the song. [SPEAKER_01]: They also just killed the librarians. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, well, in the best part is this was a mini black library, which we haven't covered yet, but we will. [SPEAKER_00]: And then appearing like, nope, black library of forbidden knowledge into the sun. [SPEAKER_00]: He sent all of that into the sun. [SPEAKER_01]: They were so woefully prepared for us because they're like, hey guys, [SPEAKER_01]: What's going on? [SPEAKER_01]: Ah, I'm on fire. [SPEAKER_01]: Also, why? [SPEAKER_00]: And then they moved in. [SPEAKER_00]: Another cool thing about the Zara back is that it actually sits in the dark void of space. [SPEAKER_00]: So it's really well hidden. [SPEAKER_00]: So this, this is one of the more important fortresses for the death watch because alien races don't know it's there because they, they can't see it. [SPEAKER_00]: So they all, you know, like a tyranny invasion, for example, would go right past it because there's nothing there to heat them. [SPEAKER_00]: Same with Eldar Eldar might have a detected towel and miss completely, but they're nowhere near this. [SPEAKER_01]: I was saying there's nowhere in here. [SPEAKER_00]: It'd be, it'd be, it'd be, it'd be the very lost house ship that gets in clear. [SPEAKER_01]: He's, the township that's out here is super bum that he's out in the area now. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, yeah, it's especially good stuff. [SPEAKER_00]: Don't have faster than like, or warp travel, so if he, they're out there. [SPEAKER_00]: They do, it just didn't go so well for him. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Maybe that thing I can reappear here. [SPEAKER_00]: Like, oh, remember that? [SPEAKER_01]: I'm finally out of the world. [SPEAKER_01]: That entire invasion fleet that they went, Sue, anybody know where those guys went? [SPEAKER_00]: That's that, that's that, Rebecca. [SPEAKER_00]: Another cool one is, it's OniEx Patrol. [SPEAKER_00]: This is just more funny. [SPEAKER_00]: It's not a station. [SPEAKER_00]: It's just a bunch of warships that are kind of tethered together. [SPEAKER_00]: That's what's decided to build their own craft world. [SPEAKER_01]: They just made a flotilla. [SPEAKER_01]: It's the Koreans from Mass Effect. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: And they're doing this because they saw the Eldar craft worlds. [SPEAKER_00]: And let's just do that. [SPEAKER_00]: And you do with it, hunt down Eldar craft worlds. [SPEAKER_01]: They don't have to belly just harass them. [SPEAKER_01]: It is being dick stewed basically. [SPEAKER_00]: You're like, why are you doing this? [SPEAKER_00]: Screw you! [SPEAKER_00]: It's what they're trying to chase them out of the neighborhood. [SPEAKER_00]: That's all pretty much. [SPEAKER_00]: Get out of here. [SPEAKER_00]: Get out of here. [SPEAKER_00]: Go on. [SPEAKER_01]: Go on. [SPEAKER_01]: You didn't even do a full invasion. [SPEAKER_01]: You just irritated us and made us leave. [SPEAKER_01]: You're like, yeah, I know. [SPEAKER_00]: So one of the most important ones though, and also this one frustrates me really badly, is Erionk. [SPEAKER_00]: And it's because it's unfinished. [SPEAKER_00]: So there's this an area of the galaxy called the Jericho reach. [SPEAKER_00]: This is outward tower. [SPEAKER_00]: That's what's on the right side of the galaxy. [SPEAKER_00]: Eastern fringe, which is not that we can use the walls of Jericho, which is just a lazy Boston crab. [SPEAKER_00]: But anyway, the Jericho reach. [SPEAKER_00]: The Jericho reach is has always been a nightmare zone for the imperial. [SPEAKER_00]: It's over again on the right side of the galaxy. [SPEAKER_00]: And this is the area right where they were, they discovered the towel and they were going to go and you know, colonize the towel, but then the warpstorms ate them. [SPEAKER_00]: So then the, the wars of Gochip and deer, all that stuff is just what I say. [SPEAKER_00]: Don't, don't. [SPEAKER_00]: Play off in the fact that Goge was over here and doing crazy shit. [SPEAKER_00]: What's fascinating though is that while all that's going on, you know, the tower rising up all their stuff, there was a death watch fortress there. [SPEAKER_00]: And that fortress area is all the way over there. [SPEAKER_00]: Now what's really cool about this is [SPEAKER_00]: It's obviously man-made, but no one knows how, because the construction would have been impossible this far out for what it's dated as, and the technology to move it, and that sort of... So big. [SPEAKER_01]: That's where we're going to really go into that. [SPEAKER_00]: He used this station should exist in around Seoul. [SPEAKER_00]: It's a death star. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: No one knows how it got there. [SPEAKER_00]: And it seems to have quite a bit of technology that's more akin to before the Great Crusade. [SPEAKER_00]: So this might be a golden age of technology build, but as we said, it's also going to be a dark age of technology build. [SPEAKER_01]: That's where my head goes for it because this is effectively alien technology for us. [SPEAKER_01]: That's where I was going with it. [SPEAKER_01]: It's the only thing that's made by me, by human. [SPEAKER_01]: We just don't know what it is. [SPEAKER_00]: It has center of it is this great secret. [SPEAKER_00]: It's called the Omega Vault, which is it just adds core. [SPEAKER_00]: It's no one knows what this thing really is. [SPEAKER_00]: They're just a giant door with a big lock on it. [SPEAKER_00]: They can't tell how deep it goes. [SPEAKER_00]: There no one knows much about there's no, there's a giant door and only one door. [SPEAKER_00]: but on rare occasions, the doors open and they reveal an artifact. [SPEAKER_00]: And it's always some sort of discovery that then leads to more mystery. [SPEAKER_00]: You know what I would say? [SPEAKER_01]: It is, it's the room of requirement, which if you weren't such a heretic and a lodged Harry Potter, you know what I'm talking about? [SPEAKER_01]: Here I'm upsetting. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know. [SPEAKER_00]: I can't believe you never really had any part in Harry Potter. [SPEAKER_00]: There will be a couple years in the future. [SPEAKER_00]: Like, yeah, my kid and I just did. [SPEAKER_00]: It's fantastic. [SPEAKER_00]: You guys are all right. [SPEAKER_00]: I just came out when I was almost twenty and I didn't watch it and I knew I'd have children. [SPEAKER_00]: So now I will enjoy it with my child when he gets older. [SPEAKER_00]: Whatever. [SPEAKER_00]: This tomb does drive me a little bit nuts, because they get really good stories about the tomb opening and getting some stuff, but it's a lot of us is codec stuff, so you never get it fleshed all the way out. [SPEAKER_00]: It's always a partial story. [SPEAKER_00]: And the stories are so good I need more. [SPEAKER_01]: And it also, the shit they get out of this tomb also, you go, where the hell did this come from? [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it just appears, effectively the doors open. [SPEAKER_00]: It's like, oh, exactly. [SPEAKER_00]: So one day the doors open and there's just a spear sitting there. [SPEAKER_00]: And they pick the spear up the spear and it takes them to a, you know, imperial world that is fallen to worshiping an energy of being, which is totally a seat hand. [SPEAKER_00]: Yep. [SPEAKER_00]: Because the world, by the way, turns out there would be a deck on to the world. [SPEAKER_00]: And the kill team go there with the spear, and they kill the entity with this spear, which they would have done absolutely nothing to without the spear. [SPEAKER_00]: I think everybody's done like that. [SPEAKER_00]: Why? [SPEAKER_00]: Why? [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: What are you trying to do? [SPEAKER_00]: But that's the full story that we don't get anything more. [SPEAKER_00]: Another time, there's a chronograph, which if you don't know that it's basically just a device that has spinning wheels on it, and it tells the chronographs are way of telling time, but it complex way of telling time. [SPEAKER_00]: And it was counting down to zero. [SPEAKER_00]: And the Inquisition just showed up and couldn't figure out what it was or what it was counting down to and took it with them. [SPEAKER_00]: So like these ones, they're kind of, it's something the stories are really cool, but they're random. [SPEAKER_00]: Another great one is that it just opens and there's a bolt gun there, just a bolt gun. [SPEAKER_00]: Which it looks like absolutely nothing to it. [SPEAKER_00]: It's just a normal, a bolt gun. [SPEAKER_00]: And then when they look at it, it's got engravings on the bolt on showing it was actually used by a space marine at the attorney gate, which is like a billion light years away, not really. [SPEAKER_00]: But like from where this place is so far, there's no way that that that bolt gun could get here without some sort of nefarious thing. [SPEAKER_00]: And the question is, is this really a vault or not? [SPEAKER_00]: And [SPEAKER_00]: No one knows, because it feels less like this is a vault built in the station. [SPEAKER_00]: Then more, this is the station was built around the vault. [SPEAKER_00]: Ready for Brad's theory of the week? [SPEAKER_01]: I think that this is driven completely by a Dark Age of Technology AI. [SPEAKER_01]: And it gives them information based on what it thinks they need. [SPEAKER_00]: See, what I think is, I think it's an old one. [SPEAKER_00]: Esch, relic that was found. [SPEAKER_00]: And then loaded in, I think what's inside the tomb is something from the old ones. [SPEAKER_00]: And that's how it's said because a lot of this helps them other predictive future or gives them clarity in the past. [SPEAKER_00]: It gives it, but it's always a little bit obscured. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, they're giving him, they're also getting items that they shouldn't be able to get, I guess. [SPEAKER_00]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_00]: I can see that. [SPEAKER_00]: That's, I just, my thinking is the way they've written it is, I think this is something that was, this is Malkudor. [SPEAKER_00]: This just has Malkudor written all. [SPEAKER_01]: I just think, he would have used, he used the, the, the Iron Man and stuff like that. [SPEAKER_01]: That's why I think this is a Dark Age of Technology AI because [SPEAKER_01]: It's something that keeps giving you brain problems to a greater mystery. [SPEAKER_00]: And that's actually your right. [SPEAKER_00]: That actually makes more sense because the thing is it seems to have always been helping a humanity against, you know, which the OB were the whole one tech was doing that. [SPEAKER_00]: So you're right. [SPEAKER_00]: It's more likely something that it's an AI from Dark Age of Technology that's helping humanity succeed. [SPEAKER_00]: Right. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: I think that's a fair point. [SPEAKER_01]: Also, they just let this happen. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: I love when they're just pure hair seed going on, they're like, man, it's probably not. [SPEAKER_01]: Bye. [SPEAKER_01]: Bye. [SPEAKER_00]: Bye. [SPEAKER_00]: The best part about the death watch to me is they, it's more from the lore, so they fight the random Zenos in the galaxy. [SPEAKER_00]: One area that I struggle with with GW, the game, is that I want to know more about what's going on not on the tabletop. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I love it. [SPEAKER_00]: Tell me more about what's happening over here over there. [SPEAKER_00]: And the death watch are the source that, because they basically spend all their time interact with the NPCs of the galaxy. [SPEAKER_00]: every tiny, you know, race that's not marginally playable, half to deal with the death of safe. [SPEAKER_00]: If you're a librarian and then I'm sending you get sent on fire, you have a death watch at that time. [SPEAKER_00]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, I mean, they were asking for it. [SPEAKER_00]: It should have been writing stuff down, right? [SPEAKER_00]: It stopped writing all this stuff down to Kelly and, you know, going, how dare you? [SPEAKER_00]: And it gives us these stories really give us incredible glimpses into how diverse and crazy the galaxy is. [SPEAKER_00]: You know, I actually didn't screw that idea. [SPEAKER_00]: All right, let's stop here. [SPEAKER_00]: Let's cut this on death watch. [SPEAKER_00]: A little bit of abrupt cut, but they're going to come up more. [SPEAKER_00]: next week let's do an episode focusing on some of these random random races because it's a good way to kind of talk about that. [SPEAKER_01]: My first of the of the cast to be fair, there's so many non in-game races. [SPEAKER_01]: There's wildly more. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm looking at now. [SPEAKER_00]: So according to Lexa canum, there are three hundred and forty seven. [SPEAKER_00]: non-codex races in the galaxy. [SPEAKER_00]: That's so much more. [SPEAKER_00]: I can't do all of them, but this is me ragged in the slon. [SPEAKER_00]: If you don't listen to slon ours in your office as long as the Joe Caro, we might do the serruti. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm not sure if we can do serruti because I want to ruin the eyes and her novels or people with the weapon side we want to do them. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm actually cool thing, but those books are as far as, and I've put this under a lot of people when they asked what they read first. [SPEAKER_01]: And my go to's, and I'm going to say this to everybody, because we get asked a lot. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I say that if you're starting to read the forty came novels, Horace Harris, and the eyes and horn books are probably where I'd say the early horse heresy. [SPEAKER_00]: Of course, right. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Like sixty books, so you should start with these sixty novels. [SPEAKER_01]: Now you just start with Horace, right? [SPEAKER_00]: And it's a first for you read the first for, then you do Eisenhorn, maybe you do Gonskost, because it does. [SPEAKER_00]: We won't do so with you now, I think about it. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't want to ruin that because it's a really great reveal. [SPEAKER_01]: If you're going to go for fun, if you want to mix it in, all the kifus canals are fantastic, the canes are good, some of the the orc ones are good too. [SPEAKER_00]: That's because they're so off the wall. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, this would be fun. [SPEAKER_00]: This is a good idea. [SPEAKER_00]: So I think what we'll do is we're going to kind of cut the death watch at this point because we're going to come up a bunch more. [SPEAKER_00]: I think it's a really great way to kind of tell the death watch stories is how the is like basically how a lot of these races were eliminated by the death. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yes. [SPEAKER_01]: And we just took their stuff. [SPEAKER_00]: consistently because I will say that for GW for those of you who are like newer to this GW right side stories better than anyone I've ever seen everyone most writers are very good at campaigns so it must it might just be that everyone at GW has horrible ADHD and so like the campaigns they can do them but if you give them [SPEAKER_00]: Hey, right four paragraphs in this random thing. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, I mean, they're all playing all. [SPEAKER_01]: You're just doing Skyrim and Fallout, where you only do side graphs. [SPEAKER_00]: I guess the GW side bits are incredible with great ideas. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: And because they're really cool. [SPEAKER_00]: The slon or ones will spend a bunch of time on because the slon go all the way back to pre. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, there's a fan serious. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, they're a fancier, but they're also the ones who control the ins laborers. [SPEAKER_00]: Yep. [SPEAKER_00]: Actually, I'm sorry, who controlled the raggedan. [SPEAKER_00]: Got to say that. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, they controlled the raggedan. [SPEAKER_00]: All right. [SPEAKER_00]: We'll do that next week. [SPEAKER_00]: So this has been fun. [SPEAKER_00]: And we're doing a kind of an abrupt stop. [SPEAKER_00]: Sorry, but I just, I think, start writing an episode now. [SPEAKER_00]: So this has been John Varsodium, Brad Chester. [SPEAKER_00]: This guy. [SPEAKER_00]: I'll see you guys next week. [UNKNOWN]: you
