Speaker 1: Hey, everyone, welcome back to Bacher Happy Hour.

00:00:03
Speaker 2: We are back with more of his story, and today we have Bob and c K on a't CK's birthday. I know he's in France and we're going to talk to both of these guys, so let's get into it.

00:00:17
Speaker 1: Bob, Welcome to Bacher Happy Hour. How are you.

00:00:20
Speaker 3: I'm doing great, Thanks so much, Thanks for.

00:00:22
Speaker 4: Having me, of course, of course, thanks for coming on. So where are you located right now? You're we see you're on a beautiful rooftop. It's sunny, it's warm.

00:00:31
Speaker 3: I'm on my roof. I'm on my rooftop a block from the beach down here in Marina del Rey.

00:00:36
Speaker 4: Wow, I'm very jealous. It's cold in New York today.

00:00:40
Speaker 5: I've not been outside.

00:00:41
Speaker 1: And what what do you do for a living? Are you retired? Are you still you're a chiropractor?

00:00:46
Speaker 3: Corrector I'm semi retired as a chiropractor. I'm kind of, you know, trying to work my way into the sunset there.

00:00:53
Speaker 1: Okay, what do you think about?

00:00:54
Speaker 2: Are you familiar with all like the chiropractor videos on Instagram and TikTok?

00:01:00
Speaker 1: What are your thoughts on those?

00:01:02
Speaker 3: I find them fascinating. I mean a lot of the techniques and they what they are claiming and what they're doing is sometimes, in my conservative opinion, a little bit interesting, a little esotheteric. The thing that blows me away are the guys that really do nothing but do manipulation on absolutely drop dead gorgeous women in little yoga outfits. And then a friend of mine monetized how much they make purview of these people just watching them adjust them, and I'm going, that's a whole practice.

00:01:43
Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, truly.

00:01:45
Speaker 4: I'm a chiropractor fan because I grew up. I grew up Dan saying so I And now we travel a lot as we're doing a lot of sitting on planes. Joe's never been to the chiropractor, and I think he would benefit from it. I don't go off and I'm like a twice a year if I really need an adjustment.

00:02:02
Speaker 5: But he is hesitant. He's nervous about it.

00:02:05
Speaker 4: But he loves watching the videos of people getting their backs cracked.

00:02:08
Speaker 1: I could crack. I could crack.

00:02:09
Speaker 6: Well.

00:02:09
Speaker 2: I also crack my own back, but I try. I try to stretch a lot, but I could crack my back through my chest so I could push my my chest.

00:02:17
Speaker 5: It's like you're stern though it's not your back.

00:02:19
Speaker 1: In my back in the middle of my back cracks. It actually feels great when I do it.

00:02:23
Speaker 5: But that doesn't make you a chiropractor?

00:02:25
Speaker 1: Is that okay?

00:02:25
Speaker 6: Though I hope not.

00:02:28
Speaker 3: I've spent a lot of year the last in my time if that was the case.

00:02:32
Speaker 1: What do you think about people cracking their own backs?

00:02:35
Speaker 3: It's one of those things where if you're not if you're not doing it too much, it's fine. Yeah, if you're overdoing it, you can create some problems for yourself. But if you just kind of move, twist, h click, Oh, hell that feels better, go for it.

00:02:50
Speaker 1: Okay.

00:02:51
Speaker 2: And what about like Rooks where I where I crack my back the most is I'll roll on one of the rollers at the gym and I just like basically just like cracks my back and then I just keep going.

00:03:01
Speaker 1: Fine.

00:03:02
Speaker 3: Yeah, and you know, unless you're starting to develop any pain with that, or you got any other kind of underlying stuff that I don't know about. Hell, yeah, that's fine.

00:03:10
Speaker 1: Okay, all right, that's good. That's good to know.

00:03:13
Speaker 5: Chiropractic advice with Doctor Bob. Is there a new segment.

00:03:16
Speaker 2: Okay, so let's get into the show a little bit. How did you wind up on the Golden Bachelor at.

00:03:21
Speaker 3: Oh, they found me online. They found me online, and when they did I I turned to my kid Meg and I said, what do you think? And they said, oh, Dad, you got to do this? Yeah, well, you know, you turned down being on America's Next Top Model. Why should I do this? She goes, because it's twelve years later and I still regret doing that.

00:03:45
Speaker 1: Why did she turn it down?

00:03:47
Speaker 3: She was a freshman in college. She wasn't so sure. She was definitely not the model type. She knew that if she was going into the show, that her character was going to be more of the project. You know when you when you break down the show into you know what kind of character types you're going to be. And she just analyzed who she was and she's like, I just don't know if I want to do that.

00:04:11
Speaker 5: Yeah, that's fair.

00:04:12
Speaker 4: I used to watch that show and there are some good parts and there are some not so good parts.

00:04:18
Speaker 3: And the other part was is that she would have to take a semester off from college to do it.

00:04:23
Speaker 5: Right.

00:04:23
Speaker 3: Explained to her that you know, that's fine, that's you know, but your mom and I have already paid for that semester, so you're going to have to come up with the money for the next one. And she's like, well, okay, but how much is a semester? Twenty five thousand dollars? No, no, no, Dad, a semester? I would know, just a semester's twenty five thousand dollars. Screw that.

00:04:49
Speaker 4: School is so much more expensive here than is in Canada.

00:04:52
Speaker 5: That's all crazy, it is. It is priced very differently. Oh my gosh.

00:04:58
Speaker 3: Yeah, and you got some great up there McGill.

00:05:00
Speaker 4: And all, oh yeah, we have some really good schools. So if we have a kid, they're going to school in Canada. So did you have any regrets going on the Golden bouch Rat?

00:05:12
Speaker 3: None?

00:05:12
Speaker 6: None.

00:05:13
Speaker 3: At first, when I left the show, I felt a little disappointed. I wanted to have been there longer. But as a friend of mine put it to me, he goes, Bob, you made it to the NBA. Okay, so you sat on the bench. But still, dude, you were in the NBA. That's that's great. And then I got that whole second life out of the out of the Marina del Rey Lesbians.

00:05:42
Speaker 4: Yeah, let's talk about that. So I am scrolling on TikTok. This is maybe like two weeks after you've left the show, and I'm like, oh, there's Bob and I see Bob's house for Wayward Lesbians and I was like, what the heck is going on here? And it's just you and what like twenty lesbians?

00:06:06
Speaker 3: Oh yeah, well you know Meg, Meg is queer. And so it's like when we have Thanksgiving, it's like you invite all your friends and it's just grown from ten to fifteen to twenty to twenty seven. This year we had seating and stuff for thirty and it ended up standing room onely at your house, it's at my place? Yeah, wow, co come in.

00:06:29
Speaker 5: That's so, is it? It's you and your daughter Meg and all of her friends.

00:06:34
Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, wow, that's in.

00:06:37
Speaker 6: The date here and there.

00:06:38
Speaker 3: But and what did they What are a special lady to say? How would you like to come to Thanksgiving with me in twenty seven lesbians?

00:06:46
Speaker 5: That sounds like a great party.

00:06:48
Speaker 3: That sounds like a lot of what And it also tells you that that's a special lady that can do that.

00:06:54
Speaker 5: That is true?

00:06:55
Speaker 2: Were they all talking about watching you on the Golden Bachelor att.

00:06:59
Speaker 5: Yeah, the start of Thanksgiving.

00:07:02
Speaker 3: Yeah, it's part of it. It's just yeah, you know, it's it's kind of it's a topic. It's fun. They have fun with it. They make fun of before it. But most of them were like, way to go, way to give us props. Thanks a lot.

00:07:17
Speaker 2: So going back to your time in the mansion, you mentioned you wish you could have lasted longer.

00:07:24
Speaker 1: Why do you think you went home?

00:07:27
Speaker 3: To be honest, it was just, you know, I walked in there and I realized that as outgoing and as gregarious and as animated as I was, there was something about doing it in front of you know, you know, constantly being in front of cameras and being you know, Mike and everything else. And I just seemed a little out of my element there. Yeah, And with that, I kind of looked at it and I went, well, what's the best thing that you can do here? And I decided, well, if I don't know what I'm doing, the least I can do is be there for the other guys, make them feel comfortable, make Joan feel acknowledged and welcomed, and you know, feel fabulous about why she's there. Because I can only imagine what she's going through and just try to be my best person for everybody else.

00:08:20
Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I mean you have you have, Like just having you on this podcast, even in the first five minutes, you have a great personality.

00:08:27
Speaker 1: So I'm actually I'm actually very.

00:08:29
Speaker 2: Surprised that you went Yeah, me too, because I thought maybe you because you know, guys that are guys or women that go on the show and our introverts have have a tougher time, so I was maybe thinking that was your case.

00:08:40
Speaker 1: But it doesn't really seem that way.

00:08:42
Speaker 3: Yeah. A lot of my friends were like, we saw this guy on the show, but I don't think it was really you.

00:08:48
Speaker 5: Yeah, it can be a very overwhelming environment and.

00:08:52
Speaker 2: Your first time in front of the cameras and that just that could totally shut you down.

00:08:56
Speaker 3: Yeah, but wouldn't trade it in for anything.

00:09:00
Speaker 5: What did your friends and family say about watching you?

00:09:03
Speaker 3: It was all so positive. It was all a lot of fun, very positive. I grew up on the East Coast. People on the East Coast think that anything that happens on TV is total magic, and they were just stoked to see some kid from their high school of fifteen hundred kids be on a TV show, and.

00:09:24
Speaker 5: Yeah, they're kind of it's exciting.

00:09:26
Speaker 3: Yeah, it was very exciting for them and did for me.

00:09:29
Speaker 1: Do you think.

00:09:31
Speaker 2: Knowing how it works and experiencing it once, if you were to go back on, do you think you would be able to get out of your shell and be more more comfortable?

00:09:43
Speaker 6: Oh?

00:09:43
Speaker 3: Hell yeah, yeah yeah, I would very much. It would be a very different experience. I mean, the production crew does all that they can to make you feel as comfortable as you can. But until you get used to those cameras, until you get used to interacting with people in a way that you're not used to interacting on a day to day basis, you know, it.

00:10:10
Speaker 1: Takes some time, and it just it takes time and experiencing it once.

00:10:15
Speaker 3: Yeah.

00:10:22
Speaker 4: So how has been How has it been dating since being on the show?

00:10:25
Speaker 1: Have you been dating?

00:10:27
Speaker 6: Ah?

00:10:27
Speaker 3: Well dating, been on a couple of dates, But I do have one lady that that we've got something I think pretty special going on.

00:10:36
Speaker 5: Okay, that's exciting.

00:10:38
Speaker 3: We're playing the long distance relationship and and we're just we're kind of seeing how that works out. Never done anything like that before.

00:10:48
Speaker 5: So how did you meet?

00:10:51
Speaker 3: H We met when she was visiting Santa Monica and we met online And did.

00:10:59
Speaker 2: She know that you were on the Golden Is that? Is that how this came about?

00:11:05
Speaker 3: She that's one of my big things. It's like, if you're going to do anything, don't need with that. But we just been having a great time. And now we're kind of like zip back and zipping back and forth between between states.

00:11:19
Speaker 5: And did she make it to Thanksgiving?

00:11:23
Speaker 3: And the visits get a little bit longer.

00:11:26
Speaker 5: So did you make it to Thanksgiving with Meg and all her friends?

00:11:29
Speaker 6: No?

00:11:30
Speaker 3: Unfortunately they had they had she had stuck with with her family. But I'm on my way to visit her in a couple of weeks and then she's going to be out here for Christmas.

00:11:38
Speaker 5: Oh wow, that's great.

00:11:40
Speaker 1: This isn't this isn't.

00:11:42
Speaker 3: We got we got stuff planning.

00:11:43
Speaker 5: Would you call? Would you call her your girlfriend yet or not?

00:11:46
Speaker 3: There love to call my girlfriends, but we're both being very cautious.

00:11:52
Speaker 5: Okay, but the time, the time may come. Yes, that's great. We're so happy for you.

00:11:58
Speaker 3: Well, thank you. I'm pretty pretty excited too. You know, you go into this show and you know I would kind of like on ahh to dating. You know, I felt like here I'm sixty six, I'm retired, you know, and I feel like this guy that is out there and I've got a ton of money, but it's in a currency of a country that no longer exists, and I'd expired and I don't know how to spend it. And and the show coming was like, oh, get out there, No, there is a there is a land for that, and and that kind of got me back in the saddle.

00:12:36
Speaker 1: And that's great. I think that. I think that.

00:12:40
Speaker 4: Yeah, we when we talked to a lot of the Golden Women when they came off the show, they said something somewhere like it just kind of reignited their spark and confidence surrounding dating, and a lot of them were able to to find partners that way.

00:12:56
Speaker 3: Yeah. I'm I'm happy for them too. Yeah, I've met a few of them and it's a cool group of cool group of ladies.

00:13:05
Speaker 2: So we're for for New Year's we're going to Costa.

00:13:10
Speaker 1: Rica and I've never We're going to Tamarindo. I've never.

00:13:15
Speaker 2: I've never served before my life. Now, I heard you're a surfer, Is that correct?

00:13:21
Speaker 3: Yes? Tamarindo is a real, real easy gentle break. The only thing that you. The only thing you don't want to do is serve anywhere near the mouth of the river that feeds that little bay there, because uh, there are crocodiles in that river and they will they don't just stay.

00:13:45
Speaker 6: There in the river.

00:13:47
Speaker 5: Okay, good to know. That's a good tip, great zip.

00:13:52
Speaker 3: Lining, great out Oh it's great.

00:13:55
Speaker 6: A fact.

00:13:55
Speaker 2: So for a first time I've never been on a surfboard. For a first time surfer, what tips.

00:14:03
Speaker 1: Would you give me?

00:14:05
Speaker 6: Oh?

00:14:07
Speaker 1: Like, well, you think I can be able to get up now?

00:14:09
Speaker 3: I mean I would say the first couple of times, it's number one. Learn where to put your body weight on the board so that you know, because what happens is you start to go off on this wave and you start to the nose starts to angle down and then it digs into the water and then it flips like that. So just right on your belly like it's a great big boogie board, and figure out where your weight needs to be to keep that nose from pearling in and then from there pop up to your knees okay, and from there maybe pop up on your feet, but you know, but most of all, just take your time.

00:14:47
Speaker 5: I like that.

00:14:47
Speaker 4: I'm so excited. I've never surfed either, but I've always wanted to.

00:14:50
Speaker 1: How often do you surf these days?

00:14:53
Speaker 3: Do you know? Part of my backstory is that I got struck by lightning?

00:14:58
Speaker 1: Is that the story that you told Joe night one that was like a near death experience? Yeah, all right, let's let's let's do yah.

00:15:04
Speaker 5: Can you tell that?

00:15:05
Speaker 3: So? I was teaching my kid how to surf one day, and this was like middle of the summer, and and I'm pushing them off on a wave and I didn't even put day attention, but this one big black cloud formed over the beach and the first bolt of lightning that it threw down took me out hit the water. You know, I'm pushing her off on this wave and I'm going, oh my god, she's going to stand up. And then next thing I know, I opened my eyes. I'm in an ICU and full restraints and a breathing.

00:15:38
Speaker 5: To Oh my gosh. How old was she?

00:15:41
Speaker 3: She was fifteen at the time.

00:15:43
Speaker 5: That's really scary.

00:15:44
Speaker 1: Who got you out of the water?

00:15:46
Speaker 3: And and the thing one of the things that saved them was that they were on top of the board and not in the.

00:15:52
Speaker 6: Water, and I was in it.

00:15:55
Speaker 3: Was not so much struck by lightning as I was the guy that was in the bathtub and somebody threw in a million watte hair dryer.

00:16:04
Speaker 4: Okay, so the fact it was Meg, Yeah, So the fact that Meg was on the board and not in the water saved her from being electrocuted, essentially.

00:16:16
Speaker 6: Yeah.

00:16:17
Speaker 1: Yeah.

00:16:18
Speaker 3: And so so they came up, they saw me floating, they grabbed me, They dragged me in. The guards grabbed me, they cut open my wet suit and did see p rmy for about twelve minutes before they finally got a pulse.

00:16:36
Speaker 4: Oh my gosh, it's on YouTube.

00:16:39
Speaker 3: Yeah, some guy shot it and I, frankly personally, I was like still in the ICU and I'm like, no, no, no, dude, you got to show it to me now. I want to see it. Now.

00:16:51
Speaker 1: How do we search for this video?

00:16:53
Speaker 5: I don't know if I want to see this video.

00:16:57
Speaker 3: I think you'd probably go Dennis Lightnings, that victim death. You see pr what you throwing those those those those things under your search engine in YouTube and maybe it'll come up. I haven't looked at it in about a year or two.

00:17:10
Speaker 2: What uh, What was the recovery like after something like that?

00:17:16
Speaker 3: Well, what happens is is so the electricity stops your heart. It makes your heart just go, actually makes everybody muscle in your body go, fries, nerves, fries everything. It took me about three days before I could get up and kind of walk. I've been about a week about two weeks before I could actually not about a week and a half before I walk myself. But the biggest thing that was residual from it all was so I was wearing a wet suit and the only part of my body that was in the water that was sticking out of the wet suit was my feet and ankles, and my feet are still numb, partially numb. So my yeah, to this day, they're never coming back.

00:18:01
Speaker 1: Wow.

00:18:02
Speaker 3: And you know what, if you're gonna walk away from something like this with some sort of it's personally, I think it's important to have some sort of a reminder of event event like this, so you can have a nice, subtle one like that. You got lucky.

00:18:19
Speaker 5: Does it impast you on a day to day at all?

00:18:22
Speaker 4: Not?

00:18:22
Speaker 3: Well, yeah, because I don't have the same sense of balance that I used to, So that circles back to do I serf much anymore?

00:18:30
Speaker 6: No?

00:18:30
Speaker 3: My balance sucks. I don't skateboard, I don't surf that much of boogie board our body serf, but getting up on a surfboard it's just not as much fun.

00:18:40
Speaker 5: How many years ago was this ten? Ten years? Wow?

00:18:45
Speaker 1: That's that's an, that's an that's intense. Wow.

00:18:49
Speaker 5: Were you pronounced dead?

00:18:52
Speaker 6: Well?

00:18:53
Speaker 3: I was. Basically I was flatlined. I was what they call a sisterly, So my heart wasn't even beating. It was just checked out. And so that's why they did had to do the CPR for as long as they did.

00:19:06
Speaker 1: Yeah, any heart complications after something.

00:19:09
Speaker 3: Like that, Yeah, I did have h I have an occasional history, you know, occasional episode of aphib from that, you know, and that usually happens if I, you know, burning in the candle at two at both ends, or doing something you know, excessively stressful. But I, you know, I still swim a mile and a half every day and you know, work out a lot.

00:19:34
Speaker 6: It's nice.

00:19:35
Speaker 5: That is a wild story.

00:19:37
Speaker 4: I can't imagine being meg on the surfboard and looking back and my dad's being electrocuted in the water by lightning.

00:19:45
Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, they but they handled it well. I mean they knew exactly what to do.

00:19:49
Speaker 1: They thank god they got because if they didn't, you you would probably be dead.

00:19:55
Speaker 3: Yeah, it was Nobody would have found me for a while.

00:19:57
Speaker 5: Yeah, Yeah, wow, it was cool.

00:20:00
Speaker 2: That's that's very intense, And honestly, that's a that's a reminder to never be in the water alone.

00:20:05
Speaker 5: Like, no, never in the water alone, and never when there's lightning.

00:20:10
Speaker 3: Yeah, I still will cast tonight to the sky just to make sure.

00:20:15
Speaker 5: Yeah, I don't blame you.

00:20:17
Speaker 2: What what were your thoughts going back to the show.

00:20:22
Speaker 1: What were your thoughts on the finale?

00:20:25
Speaker 3: I thought it was wonderful. I mean the two guys that I really felt that were that that that were all in for Joan were Guy and Chalk.

00:20:41
Speaker 2: Did you feel that way? Did you feel that way? Were you able to see that week two or was it still too early when you were in there?

00:20:48
Speaker 3: Oh no, by the time I was gone, I mean by the you know, by the second or third day, I was like, wow, Wow, these guys are at a whole another here that I wish I could be at but I'm not. But you know, bravo for them for knowing it, seeing it and going for it.

00:21:08
Speaker 6: Yeah, and it was fun.

00:21:10
Speaker 3: To watch them get to the end, and it was, you know, it was tough to It was like we were watching the finale and my daughter's like, Daddy, you're crying, like, but you're a really nice guy. It is that it was my friend, and you know, but I think she made a great choice and I think she's gonna there. The two of them just seem to be really like they're having a great time.

00:21:34
Speaker 1: Yeah, I agree. I agree. Do you do you keep in contact with any of the guys from the house.

00:21:40
Speaker 6: Oh heck, yeah.

00:21:41
Speaker 3: Oh yeah, we've got we've got threads that we've got, you know, some you know Instagram or whatever messaging threads where just you know, all of a sudden, somebody will erupt with some joke about something or story about something, or I'm going here today is iskse birthday?

00:22:03
Speaker 5: Oh is it?

00:22:04
Speaker 3: Yeah? So we were everybody was up early at East Coast six in the morning, l A three in the morning, going happy birthday, Charles.

00:22:16
Speaker 5: Oh that's so nice.

00:22:18
Speaker 3: Yeah, And any chance we get to get together, like the girl I said, girlfriend, we're going out to Joshua Tree over the years and I hope to get you know, to run into Gary out there because I think he lives out that way.

00:22:33
Speaker 5: Oh really, Yeah, And if I.

00:22:36
Speaker 3: Go visit Chicago, then I'm checking in with you know, Jordan and Pascal.

00:22:41
Speaker 1: Yeah, a lot of uh, a lot of Chicago. I'm from Chicago, so there's there's a lot of uh Chicago connection on this on this show, in this season.

00:22:52
Speaker 3: Yeah, it's a really cool city.

00:22:54
Speaker 2: I mean, I'd rather be on your rooftop right now and well in New York, but I rather be on that rooftop then.

00:23:00
Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm excited to go to Chicago for the holidays, but it'll be nice to jump off to Costa Rica for some warmer weather. What are you what are your plans for the holidays other than I know, Joshua Tree for New Year's Joshua Tree.

00:23:12
Speaker 3: We make we may take a little trip up to Santa Barbara, you know, just try and hit some restaurants, do some stuff together, just kind of put together some time, you know, just put you together, Like, Okay, how does this how does this relationship work over a little protracted period of time? You know, when when we wake up and we got a routine and we're like, you know, when you know exactly how they want their coffee, you don't have to ask again, and you know just where they're going to put this and what they're going to read next, and what they like to watch in the morning when they're on, and you know, you can delve into those fun little niceties of.

00:23:55
Speaker 6: Companionship.

00:23:56
Speaker 1: Nice. I like that, well, I really I love Santa Barbara. Actually it's great. So it's so beautiful up there. But Bob, thank you so much for taking time out of your day and coming to talk to us. We really appreciate it. I'm glad you're alive.

00:24:11
Speaker 2: That story was insane and I'm going to YouTube and watch it and yeah, yeah, thank you, thank you again for coming on.

00:24:19
Speaker 1: Best for Happy Hour.

00:24:20
Speaker 3: Yeah, oh, thank you so much again for having you. Guys.

00:24:22
Speaker 6: Were wonderful of course for coming.

00:24:25
Speaker 5: So nice to meet you.

Speaker 4: Bye, c K Hello, welcome to Bachelor Happy Hour.

00:24:33
Speaker 6: Thank you all. Thank you so much for having me. It's a pleasure as well as an honor. Thank you.

00:24:38
Speaker 1: Happy birthday, Happy birthday.

00:24:41
Speaker 4: Thank you for taking time out of your birthday to view with us today. And we have a quick surprise for you to kick this episode off.

00:24:48
Speaker 3: Hello, Happy birthday, Golden Handsome. All right, man, if you're going to celebrate your birthday. You're doing it the right way.

00:25:02
Speaker 6: Good job, Thank you man. I appreciate it, doctor Bob. I need you to work with my back.

00:25:07
Speaker 4: Oh my god, doctor Bob, are you doing adjustments in the house.

00:25:13
Speaker 6: Oh?

00:25:13
Speaker 3: I was just I was, yes, I was. That was one. Yeah. We thought when I left, everybody's back was going to go to hell and Jack left all going to start. But somehow you made it through and you still look ri fabulous.

00:25:29
Speaker 7: Yeah. Same to you, doctor Bob. It's I love that sunshine behind you, so you're in your element.

00:25:34
Speaker 6: I am.

00:25:35
Speaker 3: I am all right. Happy birthday, my friend, and especially from everybody else that was up at all hours of the morning testing you.

00:25:47
Speaker 4: We heard the group chat was going crazy for your birthday.

00:25:51
Speaker 7: Yeah, it's just my I tried to turn my phone off and I just I just heard this ding dinging. I'm like, stop it, guys, stop it.

00:26:00
Speaker 3: You're going to be popular.

00:26:02
Speaker 5: No great reference, doctor Bob.

00:26:06
Speaker 1: All right, So c.

00:26:08
Speaker 6: K you are.

00:26:09
Speaker 1: You're in France right now.

00:26:12
Speaker 6: I am in France celebrating my birthday. I wanted to go my boss, who is from France. He recommended that I visit the Monseille Michel, which is just outside of France in Normany. So we just got here. It's an amazing experience so far, so I'm looking forward to the rest of the trip.

00:26:28
Speaker 1: What so is it? Is it like wine country up there?

00:26:32
Speaker 6: No, it's it's an island that's kind of out in the distance, and it's it's really sort of had this gothic look. It sits by itself, and it's this historic landmark and monks used to live there at the top where they have this church, and so it's just an amazing scenic view. I felt special just to see it at the distance. So I'm looking forward to as actually visiting the island tomorrow.

00:26:57
Speaker 5: Wow, that's exciting. Who are you there with?

00:27:00
Speaker 6: A friend?

00:27:02
Speaker 5: Nice, a lady friend.

00:27:04
Speaker 6: A local friend friend.

00:27:06
Speaker 2: Okay, we're gonna ask about are you how long are you there for?

00:27:14
Speaker 6: We're gonna be here to the end of the week on Friday, and people ask me that. I get so confused, like is this your birthday today or tomorrow? Like, well, what day is it? What time is it?

00:27:27
Speaker 1: So are you shooting over to like Paris or anything or no?

00:27:30
Speaker 6: Just yeah, we started. We started in Paris and it's a two hour drive. So we started in Paris and we kind of get a car made away over and then we're going to visit dining tomorrow and then we're going to make our way back to Paris and then back to Columbia and Maryland on the end of the week.

00:27:48
Speaker 5: Have you been to Paris before.

00:27:51
Speaker 6: No, It's my first time. So it's a very romantic city. My boss teaches me how to order wine in French to impress the ladies, and I always screw it.

00:28:01
Speaker 7: Up, so my hand effort.

00:28:07
Speaker 1: What do you do for a living?

00:28:11
Speaker 6: I worked for a cybersecurity company in clumb based in Columbia, Maryland. I took a job over five years ago when my younger friend went away to college and I wanted to change my life and do some things for me, and he wanted me to do some things for me as well. And one of the best moves I've ever made my entire life. I mean, I love living in Los Angeles, but I also loved living in the East Coast in Columbia, Maryland as well.

00:28:39
Speaker 4: So we heard from our producer that when you got on the Golden Bacherette, your company did something fun for you.

00:28:46
Speaker 5: Can you tell us about it?

00:28:49
Speaker 6: Yeah, they did a bunch of fun things for me, and I got to tell you that's one of the biggest wins in me actually going on this journey was the validation and respect that I've learned from my colleagues. We had national kDa for tenable and September eighteenth, I think it is, which was the first day, and all of my colleagues joined and we had a channel and it was just the channel was just going crazy, and so I felt very really special. I got to say that my boss taught me into doing this and I didn't want to do it. I did it. I didn't want to do it, he talked me back. And just a fabulous experience in support from my company and my colleagues.

00:29:32
Speaker 5: That's amazing.

00:29:32
Speaker 4: It's good for company culture, you know, something that brings everyone together.

00:29:38
Speaker 6: Yeah, it was. I got so many people from the executive rank saying, Charles, what you did? Actually they said, c k what you did. What you did really sort of galvanize the company. And I couln't even walk the halls in the company. Well, just people I never knew a ck you a great job and the.

00:29:55
Speaker 7: One hand to push up man. I tried doing one of those. I could never do it.

00:29:58
Speaker 6: So it was just great morale for the entire company from top to bottom. So very very glad I did it.

00:30:05
Speaker 5: That's fantastic.

00:30:06
Speaker 1: You look you look great. You're doing one handed push ups. What's what's your secret?

00:30:14
Speaker 6: You know? Jones said something to be quot honest at I think at one of the last episodes, she said, I'm not looking forward to retirement, but I'm looking forward to adventure and the next thing in my life. And while I was already there when she said that, it really resonated to kind of how I live my life. I work out every day, whether weights are walking or running. I try to eat healthy, I take my medications, and I live a good life and the clean life, and I treat people well. So I think there's somewhere in there's the sum reciprocations.

00:30:45
Speaker 7: So and I tease Jonathan. He and I talk all the time. Go Jonathan, you know what, man, I think we're about to sing made brother. But I'm going back in time with you. So whatever he's doing I'm doing with them.

00:30:56
Speaker 1: There we go.

00:30:57
Speaker 2: I love that you have You have five kids? How old your oldest and how young is the youngest?

00:31:03
Speaker 3: Kids?

00:31:03
Speaker 6: Wow? Five kids? Yeah? I always wanted a big family, just great times growing up. The family trips were amazing. The oldest is thirty six and the youngest is twenty two. Yeah, he's a junior in college University of Hawaii. So they're all gone and I poured into them. And now with this journey in my life forward, it's about pointing to Charles and you know, just making up, just going up to France. Oh yeah right so yeah why not? Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah. So but I five kids, It keeps me active. They have an active life. They all live in different areas throughout the United States, but they're all doing very very well. And if I had to do it all over againta, I would have five more or additional Yeah. Love. Big families are amazing. So it's a little hard, you know, growing up, and you know when you're growing up. You know, during the episode, Mark and I was talking about when we were young or we wanted sports cars and we'd go to the dealership and are you crazy you got five kids? Man, we got to the minivan so so and we all kids. Funny, you know we all got sports cars now, so yeah, yeah.

00:32:18
Speaker 5: Yeah, what did your kids think about all of this?

00:32:22
Speaker 7: My boys like, yeah, god, Dad, Yeah, go do it.

00:32:27
Speaker 6: And my daughter's like, I don't know. And then the daughter's formed up to it a little bit, you know, because they thought it was a good journey and maybe a good process and it would be good for me as well.

00:32:39
Speaker 2: After they saw after they watched you on the show, were they all happy with it?

00:32:43
Speaker 6: Oh? Yeah, Listen. I have to give a shout out to all of the producers. They did a really really good job, in my opinion, of keeping all the men in a good light. You know. One of the things that was important for me was to always go back to to tenabout where I work and maintain respect for my colleagues, and I think they did it for all of the gentlemen. So it was just a big, big win all the way around.

00:33:09
Speaker 2: So what going cutting to the show, what was the experience like of walking out of limo and seeing Joan and just being in that moment?

00:33:21
Speaker 6: Oh? Sure, absolutely, stepping out of the limmo, of course, it's it's a very tense moment and your nerves and thoughts are just all over the place. And Joan was beautiful and she's standing there and the under the lights and she's beautiful gown that she's wearing, and you just kind of lose your thoughts in the moment because it's such a big moment, and no matter how confident you are, you lose your stuff in that moment. And yeah, so the objective is stay composed, keep it short, and just be natural. Right, And then for me, I'm going to do a wanting to push up and then I look down and the grounds with and my first thought is, kay, don't let your hands slip and fall on your literally fall on your face. So when I did that, I was okay after.

00:34:05
Speaker 1: That, so nice? Did you What did you think when you walked in the house and realized.

00:34:10
Speaker 2: You're about to live with thirty twenty five other guys?

00:34:17
Speaker 3: Yeah?

00:34:17
Speaker 6: I know, I know. And then the guys kept coming and kept coming, and then at the end, you know, kind of get together. And my first thought was this a song a few years ago, you know, when I looked at all the guys, that there's a song that says, y'all will make me lose my mind up in there.

00:34:30
Speaker 5: Here, up in here.

00:34:31
Speaker 6: Yeah, I was totally thinking that. But all of the guys were, you know, my colleagues, and we were all of the same mindset and you know, thought process and conversation and just talking to all the guys from different parts of the country. So you know, immediately after that, I thought, this is going to be, you know, a great experience, end of nothing else. I've gained twenty four or twenty three other really really good friends, and that has not disappointed.

00:34:59
Speaker 4: Was going on the old and batch rat what you expected it to be or was it totally different?

00:35:05
Speaker 6: A little bit of both, right, a little bit of both. And you know, I tell people all the time, you know that there's one woman and there's twenty four men, and that you know there's a there's a good chance you're not gonna get picked every single round, and so you kind of really have to level sit your thought process and then really rethink what is a win to you? Charles, you know, what does a win look like? And then kind of position yourself in that way. And I think one of the big wins for me was Charles Lee and I we had a debate about who's the real Charles that was I had a lot of fun with that, and then after that discussion, I walked away being known as c K. And then that was a big win for me because anywhere and everywhere I go now people like c K, c K, c K and I so super super did.

00:35:50
Speaker 2: One of the things that caught the audience's eye was your eye for fashion.

00:35:58
Speaker 1: Have you always been a guy? Have you always a fashionable guy?

00:36:02
Speaker 6: I have five kids, never fashionable, you know, five kids are wearing sandals most of the time. But yeah, yeah, but yeah, in my adult life, you know, particularly the last five years, I've had an image consultant and she's just an amazing, amazing person that keeps my image on point, regardless of budget. Whether it's one hundred dollars or a thousand dollars, doesn't matter. She's done a really, really good job of that. And image is important in terms of how you present yourself because it's a conduit to get in the room. Right, So from that standpoint, yeah, I mean it's kind of important. I kind of enjoy it. K. The name c K kind of carries a little weight now, so I'm very happy and excited.

00:36:45
Speaker 1: So yeah, there you go.

00:36:47
Speaker 2: You have a great taste, and you're in you're you're close to Paris, so you could do some shopping.

00:36:52
Speaker 6: Yeah, I know. The men are dressed so amazing. I'm like, oh my god, I neet new stuff.

00:36:58
Speaker 1: Yeah.

00:36:59
Speaker 5: I was on vacation too.

00:37:01
Speaker 1: Yeah. I do like to shop on vacation.

00:37:03
Speaker 6: I do.

00:37:04
Speaker 2: So you ended up going home week three on the show. How was your connection with Joan? What was your relationship like with her? Did you get enough time?

00:37:14
Speaker 6: Yeah? Yeah, I didn't get a lot of time. Yeah. I'm not sure if the right thing to say is if I got enough time. But I got time with her enough to know her. I think that for me, I get to know her, but she didn't get to know me from the same point. There's one of her and there's many ments, so you get time to kind of who she is. I do know she's from Maryland, and I think we had that connection. I think that's a very very strong connection. She went to the University of Maryland and my son went there, and so it was that connection as well. And then one of my son's friends I stayed at her place for a while, so that that was another Yeah. Yeah, yeah, I think more importantly we walked away at least to extent I did with good, I mean good with it being friends, you know, having that connection with Joan or now with Chalk or with guy whoever the guy was I think it's going to be really, really and super super good. When I'm in Maryland, I'm there all the time because I have a place. It wouldn't be beyond the scope, uh for to call Chalk and go, hey, you know what, let's go out for sneak dinner. You're paying for it, so.

00:38:24
Speaker 2: Yeah, have are you? What is what is dating life? Whe you been like after the show? Are you actively dating?

00:38:34
Speaker 6: Yes? I was actually actually actively dating before the show, but obviously after the show. With the name c L I'll tell your quick story. I was in Maryland at Federal Hill night on my way to work, and I stopped at Starbuck's Coffee get coffee, and it's crowded, a bunch of people there, and it's been you know e collected, vibrant area of about more and I ordered my cafe latte and the lady screams.

00:38:59
Speaker 7: Out CAVI, lating for c K. I'm like, there's some ladies that come over. Are you c K from the Golden bathroom. I'm like, no, no, that's not me. It looks like me, but that's not me. And the lady pulls up a picture goes, yeah, it's you, and she puts your camera and it's me and we're taking I'm taking pictures with like ten different women.

00:39:19
Speaker 6: It was absolutely amazing And that has gone on like time after time after time again, whether you're in the supermarket or you're out about Los Angeles or I met my son's football game. It's just it's just been an amazing experience. And I walk away from that think my first thought is I'm kind of glad I did this, but uh, yeah, it happens more often than not.

00:39:41
Speaker 2: Do you think that makes it Do you think that now makes it easier to potentially date or just you know, it's easier to have a conversation with a woman because yeah, some of them.

00:39:51
Speaker 1: Know who you are.

00:39:52
Speaker 6: Now. Yeah, that's a very good question. I was just telling my friend that having more options is not a good thing because sometimes you and very you make the wrong decision when you have so more options. It's so much better when you don't. And having to pick from three is harder than having to pick from one hundred, because you can inbarably make the wrong decision. But you know, I'm sixty two, I'm principaled and centered. I know what I'm looking for, and I know when I see it so it typically doesn't bother me, but having a lot of options is problematic.

00:40:25
Speaker 4: Yeah, are there any of the Golden Bachelor women that catch your eye?

00:40:31
Speaker 6: You know, I haven't had. I spoke with Sandra. Sandra and I was just in Atlanta two weeks ago and I called Sandra and we're gonna go hang out and have dinner and just kind of catch up. But unfortunately she fell ill and we kind of had to reschedule. But yeah, it's just so hard. And I know I'm in Los Angeles and I think one of the young ladies there in y'all lost and we're supposed to catch up as well, but you know, life is just so difficult. And like I said earlier, you know, I'm on the go all the time, you know, and I move around quite a bit. But it's very, very difficult. But yeah, they're beautiful, beautiful, beautiful elegant women. I mean, the exact thing that we looked for right as a mature man, which is a mature, elegant, charming woman is top tier in money, and all of them are.

00:41:21
Speaker 1: When looking for a partner, what I guess, what is the ideal situation for your lifestyle?

00:41:28
Speaker 6: Someone who loves adventure, someone who loves good and nice things, and not so it's expensive things, but nice things, elegant things, charming things, someone who is spontaneous, who doesn't want to just reside in one city at one place all the time. Now that being said, I do get tired, and I do stay home from time to time. In fact, I spend more time at home when I'm in Los Angeles, and then when I'm outside of Los Angeles, I'm just rambunctious, you know, kind of god. But that's the type of woman I think that would probably be more ideal for for ck.

00:42:01
Speaker 1: That makes sense. That makes sense.

00:42:03
Speaker 4: Joe and I are going to Costa Rica over the holidays, and we were talking to Bob about it earlier. I know that you, I know it's not the exact same. What close by is Nicaragua, right, We know that you spent some time there.

00:42:17
Speaker 5: Can you tell us about that?

00:42:19
Speaker 6: Oh my god? You know, Costa Rica is a beautiful city. I've been there as well. What I didn't know was how much of a third world country certain parts of nick Rock was. And we built to be We built several homes in one day. I mean, it's just not hard to build and the people were so appreciative. It's just I get as at this age, I get to do everything that my heart's desire, just in terms of work and giving back to the community and giving and making a difference in the world and impacting people's lives and building those homes and don't any money. Was almost almost teered up, and I almost never cried, but almost teered up because it meant so much to the people there and to be I never made it to the sort of the metropolitan area of Nicaraguay. I stayed in the rural areas where it's really third world and the people really need help. And so that was a big, big, big thing for me.

00:43:24
Speaker 2: Did you did you have any experience building homes or was there like somebody overseeing the operation that kind of like, okay, just move this piece of wood hair into this Yeah.

00:43:34
Speaker 6: Yeah, I shadowed a guy. Of course, I fought on all this stuff that look like I know what I was doing. I mean, you know, gloves and they have them, like oh yeah. But I shadowed a guy and it was just amazed at how quickly you can build homes there because you don't really have to dig a foundation and just put pieces together and yeah, but I love to try. I love to do it again one day never I can find the urn.

00:44:01
Speaker 5: How long were you there for?

00:44:03
Speaker 6: I was there for two weeks.

00:44:06
Speaker 1: Well that's great for you making a difference in the world. I love that. What are your thoughts on the happy couple Joan and Chock? Makes sense to you? Happy for them?

00:44:18
Speaker 6: Yeah? Yeah, no. Listen, we talked about my experience on the show, and Chalk was jones first one O one to Disneyland, and when I remember sitting on the couch and all the guys we came graduating Chalk and I told ch'ak, I can see what she sees in him, and so I wasn't surprise. I mean, if she had chose guy, of course I can. But I can see what she sees in him, and I'm very happy for them. I think they work together. I think they're both in a good place. So I'm very very happy for the both of them. And that's when when she chose Chalk for the first group date, that's when in my mind I have to think, Okay, c K, Now what does a win look like here? Right? Because it's not about oh, c K, you got voted off, you got vooted off or you lost. I like to look at it the other way, like how did I win? Like what did I do to walk away with the win? And I feel real good about that, so very excited. I remember the Last Day episode. I was in my car in Los Angeles and Chuck called and I screwed. I looked at my phone and said, Chuck, I'm in traffic. I screamed congratulations, and then he says, hang on c K, someone wants to talk to you, and Jones says, and it was just an amazing experience and so very very happy for both of them. I think they're going to do well, live well together.

00:45:44
Speaker 5: Yeah, they seem to be very compatible having met them.

00:45:47
Speaker 6: Yeah.

00:45:48
Speaker 1: Yeah.

00:45:49
Speaker 2: Lastly, before we let you go and enjoy your birthday, if there was a golden Bachelor in Paradise, would you do it?

00:45:59
Speaker 6: You know? To be honest with you, I didn't know what that was. I heard people talking about it, and I asked one what isn't like?

00:46:05
Speaker 3: What is it?

00:46:06
Speaker 6: How does this differ?

00:46:07
Speaker 3: What is it?

00:46:08
Speaker 6: They told me. I thought. My first thought was if there was a golden in Paradise, what I do it? I don't know, you know what, here's I'm going to give you the right answer. I might be in a relationship by the time that even thinks about happening. But if I wasn't sure, I mean, those are beautiful, beautiful women, all of them are gorgeous women. How can you lose?

00:46:31
Speaker 1: So of course I think that was I think that was the correct answer.

00:46:36
Speaker 3: C K.

00:46:36
Speaker 2: Thank you so much for taking time out of your day. We hope you enjoy the rest of your birthday and it was really nice chatting with you.
