M hmmm. You're listening to the sound of my voice. You're feeling calmer, You're feeling a relaxation you've never felt before. Phrasee drifts into your mind, giant bomb cast. You realize it's Pratt Shoemaker talking. You realize Jeff Kerseman is here. I don't feel so good. Just stay with it, okay, visual eyes, all right, okay, all right, you're continuing to listen to my voice. No, I must stay. You're feeling calmer. Yeah, you realize Matthew Rory is in the room. What all right? I can't go any further. That seemed a lot like it's like a bunch better idea in my head. Did you listen to the new Prince album, the one from last year? No, because he has a bit kind of like that. I was reading an article on meditation earlier and it kind of stuck in my head. Dan record's a meditator. Yeah, I know, I know, but I didn't manage to get all the way around the table before. I couldn't keep up that shitty facade in through your nose, out through the mouth. I was reading about the monkey mind and the ox mind this morning. What's an ox mind's Like my understanding was that's kind of the like in the present sort of aspect of your mind, like the the sensing but not necessarily processing part, like not an actual Okay, they actually said visualize an ox. Visualize the the plotting nature of an ox and how it just kind of takes everything in. Is this just like an ad for Jeff inter stuff at that point? Like what it could be? I haven't gotten to the Lama mind yet, Okay, but all these beasties. This was apparently Steve Jobs big meditation thing. It's like a Zen Buddhist thing. You want to quiet the monkey mind so that it's writing on the back of the ox mind? Is it because the monkey mind is like flinging its own crap everything? Like, what is the is the monkey mind is more of an id thing the monk? No, the monkey mind is the thing that keeps your thoughts racing. Okay, it is? It is? You know, it's it's it's supposed to from from what I got from this article. It's supposed to symbolize like chaos and you know, just kind of the thoughts crashing around in your head. And so oxes are stupid and so they just sit around and do so much as like like docile and serene kind of Okay, sure it's a Chinese thing, I assume, yes, well, yeah, I think zen Buddhism followed from Taoism. Right, Steve Jobs followed a lot of weirdos back in his day. Not an autobiography is biography. It seemed to work for him, though, Ye, diet didn't. Yeah, well sorry rude, but this might be separate. Meditated once and he died. Although I don't think you can meditate your way out of cancer. Let's just go ahead and say, well, everybody knows he kind of went down the homeopathy path. Oh yeah, yeah, that stuff like fucking come on, Yeah, his diet stuff. At a certain point, at a certain point when the doctors are saying you need surgery now or it's going to be really bad, you should probably go along with it. Yeah, but that's entirely separate from trying to increase the amount of serenity in your life, right Dan, Yeah, can you confirm I follow I do mindfulness medic Yes, yes, this this is this is specifically cited as mindfulness. That's what they said. It's all about saying in the present, it's nice and what do I mean? What do you how do you do that? What do you do? It's basically you don't really do anything. You just kind of I'm really good at that. Okay, well, I think that from what I understand, the trick is to make your mind to not do anything. Yeah, because naturally, without even meaning to do it, you just have like a billion thoughts bouncing around your head and just constantly just gonna stuff you need to do in the future, stuff you're worried about eating in the past, whatever. So mindfulness is just like sitting down and not thinking about anything, and like whenever those thoughts do start kind of entering your head, like oh I need to get groceries, right, I need to do this or whatever, you just acknowledge that it happened and you just kind of let it drift off or whatever and you focus on You can do your breasts or whatever, like in breast and out breasts. You can count your breasts and some people do that. Yeah, was it like was it not circular breathing? But is a square breathing? What never heard anything like that? Where you go like one two three one two, like it's in for three seconds, out for three seconds in for three seconds, like you know, you kind of visualizing a square on your mind as you work your way around. I've never done that. Some people do the like ome thing where they think about home or like a mantra or something over and over and they focus on that. Some people focus just on sounds that are happening in the environment, like whatever, you know, traffic or it could be anything. Some people do walking meditation, where they focus on each step and how it feels going through your body and stuff like that. I just kind of sit down and just focus on my breath pretty much on Saturday nights, I focus on the sounds of the pedulum of Speedway, which started up a lot of meditators there. Oh yeah, yeah. They're the center of town. So you kind of hear racing cars you Oh yeah, yeah, dude, they're fucking loud. Oh yeah, so I've been to you know, I've been to stock car Race. Yeah, they're loud. It's fun. Yeah, I mean, I'm I'm three four miles away from there, and you can still went to Monster Trucks one time out was I bet some people really don't like that about my dumb ass town. I really like it. I would hate to live here, that it's a reminder of the roots. No, no, no, no, no, no, that this is just like it's the pedalum A fairgrounds. It's where oh where is where is that one? That's just center of town? No, no, the infinions like that's serious point that's like out kind of near Sonoma. Oh okay, all right. I don't think there's any quicker way for someone to look like an asshole than to have you know, whether it's a car or motorcycle or whatever, if you're just going through like a residential area or whatever and you are really trying to just done your engine and makeing what the I've never met anyone that does that. Like, I'm glad I've never met some fucking guys on dirt bikes that do that around in my neighborhood. It's, you know, they're just riding their dirt bike. I don't think they're necessarily trying to goose it. They're just like they're working on their bike. They want to ride it around the block. No, I'm talking about people that, like you know, they are in cars that they have added things to it to make them super loud, and like this happened a lot more so you've never done that before? What, Like, you've never been in a car that is deliberately modified to be louder. No, they used to have whistle tips in Oakland. Yeah. Yeah, let me tell you it's fun as shit. Why what is the appeal? Uh? Okay, So you're driving around. Let's let's say a friend of yours has like a lowered red mini truck and it's the early nineties and you're sixteen. This is very specific, and you're driving around and he's got super loud speakers, so the base can be heard for about a block away, but the tips are even louder than that. So when he fucking hits, it goes bla bla black, like a fucking motor just farting all over the place. And as you're doing it, driving along these quiet suburban neighborhoods, you're just setting off car alarm after car alarm YEP. That sounds like delinquency to me. Fucking a. We get a lot of the motorcycles. San Francisco was rotten with motorcycles like that, muffled motorcycles like I can hear them blocks away from my partner. Yeah, driving up, yes, knowing which cars had alarms and like plotting your route and just going around and just like you'd hear them chirp and go, fuck, we didn't get it dropping a neutral just like okay, got it. Go. I mean, it's better than the previous plan, which was let's get a paintball gun and shoot cars. That was way, way worse. But you know, sound doesn't leave any evidence exactly. No. I actually rewatched the infam of the bub rub whistle tips video not that long ago, because i'd been watching, like after we started talking about kron four on this very podcast, someone rode in and said, oh, man, there's all these great videos of Oakland side shows with like some guy from kron four being super angry though people are turning tight ones in the middle of Oakland. My girlfriend lives in Oakland, and you see the tire marks all over every intersection. Yeah, yeah, big wheelie just blocking off intersections, just spinning donuts for a while. Like some of these videos were like it was a guy just fucking hanging out. The passenger would have a car with a pistol just shooting in the air while they're doing donuts. And I looked at it and said, no, that's America. I was gonna say, you can do worse things than do a side show, but pistol need Yeah. At some point, yeah, at some point, like there's a line gets crossed. Yeah, you know if you want to go spin donuts somewhere like, I guess that's totally man, I've done that. Nicol and Dime, weren't they weren't they cracking down pretty hard in Oakland on sideshow type stuff. They caught a huge actually saw a bunch of cops and Alameda one time a few months ago, like eight cops just kind of sitting around like you're ready, You're ready, They'll pump themselves up. And we had learned later on like one o'clock they had shut down a freeway. They knew where all these guys are gonna be. They gotta tip off and it was in like a god, it was near the the the the ducks, and they I think they rested like twenty people. Wo Yeah, car got set on fire. Cool, Yeah, man, sounds like a time. Yeah. I had completely forgotten in all our discussions about Krown four that it was in fact Kron that gave whistle tips yes and rub of voice bubb rub and little cists so you'd like to forget about little cists now, right, Like you go back and watch that video. A little sis is a big part of yes, of that they were having it installed on their car's true. Yeah, bub Rub of time anybody. Yeah, I have my favorite yep, yep, my favorite of the the y M n TDS. Jesus. That's that's old ass internet right there. Yeah, yeah, like pre YouTube internet. Yeah, John Daker singing bub Rub doing his thing. Yeah, hello my future girlfriend. You know all that's all that quality stuff means were more fun when they weren't all in the same place kind of had to go hunting. For me, it was more fun when they lasted more than thirty seconds. Yeah, Like that's also fair, Like they're they're were being generated at such a rate that you know, it gave him getting us time to shine. Yes, it gave him time to like breathe and develop a little. Now when they by the time they've shined, they've own yes, shand it's too late. There's that one day, by the time they escape their initial by the time they get big, just like everyone's like I fucked that ship. There's that one day like two weeks ago they had like two giant things going on that confused the hell out of me, Like something about Lama's was all over Twitter, and then the stupid gold white dress thought the same lady had moved on. It came and went in like a day, but two of them happened in the same day. That was too much. Dress definitely lingered for a little bit, I guess a little longer. Yeah for me, that like the whole dress thing that like that was perplexing to me is I had people on Twitter writing me going, what color do you think the dress is? Like they're waiting for my fucking hot take on this dress content like fucking who cares what? And then getting into and then getting incensed when you give the wrong one. Yeah, fucking whatever, would not care less? I tricks man. Eyes are weird, guess what. Don't trust them. Don't trust them. Don't trust anything that goes in your eyes. That's right, in any form, in any form. I drops, I don't. That's why I don't use it. Drops. I had laser shot into my that's don't. You shouldn't do that. Yeah, I wouldn't recommend it, but then again you already did it, so yeah whatever, Matt Roy, Thanks for being here today. Hey, nice to have you on the podcast. I am here. How are your ribs doing? Oh see you were over there clutching your side. Yeah. I think it's gonna be an ongoing thing for a while. Yeah. Uh took a took a tumble on your bicycles. Last been ten days now, Uh yeah, it still hurts. Do you get pain when you inhale? Not at the moment? Uh, definitely. Last Monday was pretty bad. But when I sneeze it really hurts a lot, or when I cough, but hopefully it's getting better, Like roll over onto it in the middle of the night and wake up Yeah yeah, definitely. Yeah, sleeping I think I think I aggravated while I sleep, rolling around, and then when I wake up it's definitely bad in the morning. So so I was trying to have like funny ha ha time on Friday when I was talking about how I got that shot and my arm was tender and about how like that was equivalent. I start your tweet and then I got like massive side effects from that shot and fucking felt like dog shit for two days straight. Yeah, tetnas shots can be painful apparely, Yeah, I don't know it was like it was like I had the flu everywhere. I broke my collar bone. I was about eighteen, and it was in a sling and I was playing Soul Caliber with a friend and I beat him at the very end of this like eight on eighteen battle and he had a He got up and he grabbed a bucket and like a metal bucket and ran in the room and threw it at me, like forgetting that I was in a sling and it hit me right in the collar. But Rory, keep buckets away from anyone that might throw mats. That's no good. It's broken bones. Wow, a metal bucket. Yeah, I don't know why. There's just a metal bucket in my head. Even drinking, uh no, we were eighteen. I wouldn't even really drink when I was eighteen. Why were waiting? So were you? Were you the type of eighteen where you were practicing wrestling moves on each other all the time, and that seemed okay. Yeah, we were both huge wrestling fans. We were not constantly doing wrestling moves to each other, now, okay, because I I Yeah, I had a friend who in high school, like he definitely jumped off some stuff and dropped he like sunk elbows into my shoulder and the area between my shoulder and neck. That like made me feel like I was walking lopsided for a month and it was one of horrible shit like that. I was like, well, Jesus, I'm not going to stand there anything tall ever. Again. It's one of those things to where if I had not had my arm in a sling and he just threw a bucket at my head or something, I probably would have just laughed. Yeah, But when you have a broken bone and it hits it right on there, Yeah, it's a little different. Good. Yeah, what's a little metal bucket between friends? Yeah, that's what they say, is it? Adam? Probably not. I have a friend who does kravmagah and he will he's like six Israeli. Yeah, grab like rolled up magazines and stuff and sticks and they block stuff and hit stuff like that's an alien, I think. No. No, kravma ga is supposed to be like if some guy attacks you, you can like grab anything like a stick or like you can roll up a magazine and use it to block. It's not necessarily an armed martial art because people on a m MMA learn kravmaga and use some of those techniques there, So it's not strictly it's not necessarily a turn anything into a weapon. I don't know. I don't know enough about Kramga to say, Okay, when he gets drunk, he will come up and start. He's like six six two, big guy. Fuck up. It's a really fucked up thing to like, he'll pull his punches and everything and try to like, you know, it's like a you know, Jackie Chan kind of sure. Yeah, but it's still scary as hell. Yeah. I'm gonna start going tom Thai classes in April. Anybody want to go and in a sparring partner, I feel like that. Oh, I don't know, absolutely not, Rory, you're set my knees. I don't think I can. I feel like, you know, six six trained in a martial art and willing to at least try to practice on people when drunk. That's like a con Air situation. It's it's gonna be bad some day. Yeah. So, oh, I caught about twenty minutes of conn Air. It's pretty good a couple of weeks ago for the first time. Yeah, I was like, it's a powerful film. Should I keep watching this? Yeah? Probably? I mean it's less obviously didn't, but no, it's not. It's streaming, so it's always there. There was that glory period of like ninety six and ninety seven where Nicholas Cage like consecutively did The Rock, kN Air and then face Off. I would say out of that trilogy, I would say Connair is probab the least like, the least good. The Rock's the best, face Offs a little bit behind it, and Connor is a little behind that. I don't know Malkovich was really yeah, face Off is kind of a different thing, whereas I feel like The Rock and conn Air are there are similarities fauseu and it's like super weird. It's and it's you know, there are like you know, like Travolta is kind of a co principle there where that's true. And conn Air it's definitely like the Nicholas Cage. Sean Connery, but he's not even the most of them, you know, he's he's not there all the time. It's even most of the movie. It's you know, when they split up though, it's stand good speed running around on his own, figuring it out on the island. When Connie acts like he's gonna leave and then he comes back and saves him. Yeah, that part's cool. That to me relegates Sean Connery to co star status. He's got eighty percent of the screen time his cage. I'm sure, well, actually he's not Sureley Connery got top billing in the movie. Oh yeah, I mean he's the center of the poster. Steven Seagal, Actually I think he is. Actually, yeah, Seagal got top billing over Kurt Russell for executive decision. And that is in the first five minutes. I even ridiculous. I can't say that. I remember that. I just bought the Blu Ray and they don't even mention Steven Seagal on the front. It's just Kurt Russell's face, which is how it should be. Yea. But yeah, when it was coming out, I remember thinking I was going to see a Stephen Seagal movie and then he dies right away. Yeah, I remember people some people are being like incensed by that. But I never liked Steven Seagal enough to care about that. Yeah, like that kind of sucks. Yeah, I've never been a big fan. At the same time, I thought I knew from Stephen Skall movies, and I've never heard of executive Decision where they're on the plane with Oliver Platt and John Legazamo. Nope, it was the same time. Is their Force from one? I think yeah, air Force one was a little later. I think maybe Executive Decision was ninety six. Air Force was ninety seven. Maybe, but I feel like they were in a similar conversation, sort of like a you know, airplane cool shit movies. Yeah, yeah, air Force one's great. Yeah. The only thing that doesn't look great about air Force one now is at the end of that crash, the CG plane crash looks real rough. YEA. I just thought that. I'm there's a lot of that stuff that you know, certainly doesn't age super well as a lot of stuff in the matrix he watched now, and just like, yeah, but those is my all. They're all products of their time totally. It's got to take them as they were. I guess that's the thing is like, you know, when when like you could say the same thing about two D video games versus three D video games to a certain extent, like the old movies that didn't have any CG. Yes, they are products of their time, but because they don't have a lot of fucking fake shit trying to look like real shit. They still work. Yeah, practical effects like in the old Indiana Jones and Star Wars, incredible stuff works fine, Ye can beat real things. Yeah, it turns out they said that with the New India, with the fourth Indiana Jones, I think Spielberg said that, like, yeah, we're gonna go with practical effects. You know, we're not gonna do a lot of CG. And you see the movie and it's just CG everywhere, like CG ants and aliens and shit, and it just sucked monkeys. Yeah, CD monkeys. What was it that was the CG that made it s Everything is primarily no, but it didn't help. At some point, maybe they just cut their loss and said, you know what, there's like a dancing gopher. Let the computers make the gopher dance. I'm tired of trying to teach this gopher out to dance. That was a really bad movie. That movie is terrible, man. I don't think I ever saw it. It's so bad. I wouldn't bother. I did want to bring one other thing up before we move on going back to various disciplines of martial arts. I got an email this week that I did not include because there are a lot of other emails about the current whereabouts of David Lee Roth. So anybody familiar with this With David Lee Roth, I am familiar. Yeah, yeah, apparently he's where he is right now, but well, not this very moment. But he's always been a very spiritual and I would not be. Yes. Apparently, apparently, since I think it was May of twenty twelve, he has been living in a one bedroom apartment in Tokyo, Okay. Yeah, all right, Ted has become very deeply invested in the art of I think it's called iato, which is effectively a sort of a self defense technique that basically so sort of picture somebody sitting on like a floor mat okay, noticing an aggressor coming at them, snapping into position from sitting with a sword. That happens in mcgrimer's sting down, meditating on the thing, dispatching the aggressor and then sort of like snapping the sword back into the scabbard, all in one fluid motion and just returning to sitting position. That's pretty cool. That's apparently what David Lee Roth is into these days. Why not? Yeah, sure, I mean, yeah, he hosted the morning radio show. He's a paramedic. He does he really he did. He does not. But for a while he was in the Howard Stern slot in New York, I think, and they tried to syndicate him and it was not a great It was not a great show. It was he scream at all. Probably, I don't know, I feel I heard a little bits and pieces of it and just kind of went like, man, this isn't. This isn't. That's a shame, this is not so. I mean, he always just sitting around swords In case that happens, I guess, yeah, I mean, I guess you would just have to have a sword on your person at all times. Well, it'd be on the wall if you need to get up, Oh no, you take it out of your side thing. So yeah, it has to be on your belt or whatever. It could be laid across your lap, yeah, okay, you just you know, it could be somewhere close at hand. All these options are pretty cool. I think David Lee Roth is a way more interesting character. Now. Yeah, he seems like he you know, like post van Halen. He has lived in van Halen. I'm sure he did some some very serious living and then when I want to a totally different type of living, and I for I, for one, applaud David Lee Ross slightly date for the pretty much everything. Even if I'm not a fan of all of it, he at least seems like he is out there living a life. Yeah, for sure. Is he technically in van Halen now they've been to recent I don't know that is anyone. I don't think anyone's technically in van Halen anymore. They go on and off between him, wolf Gang has a solo album coming out or something. Well, Eddie had cancer, right, Yeah, they didn't tour for a while because of that, but then they started getting out there and he put his son in the band. I think, yeah, wolf Gang is Yeah, his son on base, which like ruins the vocal harm anyway. Vat Halen American institution. Yeah, I guess video games also an institution around these parts, it seems, yeah, an institution, an offer an argument of the countrary. No, I think that there's all right. That sounds I'll take it. Let's talk about him. Then blood Borne is out this week. Yeah, yep, I've been playing it. Dan has been playing it. Rory, I'm guessing he wants to play it. Yeah, I'm looking forward to it, which is half the reason I asked you'd be here. Cool, Jeff, I'm going to tell you flat out, yeah, you don't need to play this game. Okay, great, Yeah, that's that's the impression I've been getting as more and more people have been playing more and more of it. Yeah, I was, you know, it was not so. I had not been keeping up at all with the media they've been putting out. Yeah, they've been putting out a ton, but I was just like, fuck it. You know, I'd played all the other games. I know I want to check this out. Yeah, I'll just wait for it until it gets here. So I didn't one hundred percent know what to expect, because you know, they've they've spent a lot of things up about it. They've kind of taken out some old options in the interest of making you play more actively. You talk about this game as if it is a follow up to those games, even though it does have a name of its own. But does it even even the even the sony marketing materials like the dumb like very basic reviewers guy that they included thumb through it to see what they had put in there. Yeah, and they refer to it as part of the Soul series. Oh, like they are not making any bones about it. Well, you know, they don't say this the Soul series, but they say like, like you'll notice in contrast to previous Souls games, blah blah blah. Okay, yeah, like they're they're not pretending. Okay, the game is sure as fuck not pretending. Okay, all right, that's yeah. I guess that's my big question about it is, like, you know, how closely does it map to concepts and things from the previous from those other games, Like there's one hundred little details that that I'm sure Dan is also aware of and I'm sure you'll want to know about. But like, I feel like the thing to get out of the way for people like you who know that they hate the Souls games is that there's like there's absolutely nothing that has changed fundamentally enough that it's going to bring people who don't like Souls back in. Okay, Like it is is they Souls ask Souls a game, And I'd say that, knowing how call Shade that is, you know, it's so close that I would almost be okay with them just calling them souls instead of like blood echo, I call them souls. Souls is two syllables shorter than blood echoes. Yeah yeah, blood echoes instead of class it's the blood vials blood vials Yeah yeah yeah, Like so is that is that their approach? They just as many things as they could cram the word blood into they did Blood Born, blood Echo. And it's not even it's not even just names of items. I mean it kind of ties into the like weird nebulous narrative that these games have, you know, where they sort of paint a backdrop without telling a real specific story. But you know, like in Dark Souls they would refer to souls in all kinds of context, you know, not just souls as experience points, but like the souls your feet something like that. But like blood is blood is sort of a general like construct in this world, if it makes sense. Bosses, Like yesterday I thought a boss called the blood Craving Beast, like yeah, blood is in everything, or just you know, like one of the like kind of the big group that seems to be controlling things in this world is the Healing Church, which is the center of blood ministrations in the world of Blood Born, like it's just blood, blood blood. She's saying, there's a ministry and they're vampires. Maybe there might be they're werewolves. Great, so they're probably your vampires somewhere, all right, go on. I like the world they've made. They are you into it? Yeah, Like, like, you know, swapping out kind of stereotypical sword and sorcery fantasy land for like a cult Victorian England seemed like a really cool idea, and it mostly is. I think the game has been, like the environments have been kind of super drab so far though, they've all been very similar. And I'm probably between like twenty and thirty hours in and it's all been kind of like the same type of architecture. And yes, I had the same reaction, Like it was. It was probably fifteen hours before I saw anything even remotely different from everything that had come before. Like it is just the same gray, like flat kind of Victorian stonework everywhere you live now. Contrast that with let's say Dark Souls too, like all the previous like all the all the previous Souls games, I've had a lot of variety in their environment design look like I mean, like the layouts, you know, the way that things are laid out and fit together in this are really tightly put together in a satisfying way. It's just that everything looks the same and like, yeah, the all the previous Souls games, to my mind, had a lot of variety in the places you were going. I think it does change up at some point. Like when I stopped playing last night, I had just got into a place where it's very much like foresty and like that big graveyard. Yeah, I'm in that area too, Like, yeah, it's like, all right, here's a wooded area. You know, here's like a small village or something. Like you finally get into some of that stuff. But like it does really run together for the first like I said, fifteen twelve, fifteen hour or something like that, Rory anything. As a like a Souls player who hasn't seen this game that you're interested in, I heard there's not much shield stuff there. I've always been a shield and spear kind of player. Buckle up. Yeah, I found one shield so far, and I'm guessing it's the only one in the game, because they seem to have kind of put it in there as a joke that the wood one. Yes, yeah, yeah, yeah, I've heard basically it's basically like a flimsy plank, and the description on it makes it sound like, hey, you shouldn't actually use this. Yeah, I've heard you're supposed to be more active with your offhand stuff. Yes, interrupts attacks. So that's that's where like the Lion's share of the changes in the mechanics are in that, like the interplay of like you know, guns and they and dodging and blah blah blah, Like they very clearly. It's funny like going back, like you see how many people who are hardcore SOULS players are like really it's kind of snooty about people who play with sword and Shield. Maybe I was like super sensitive for that because I was one of those people who played that way. I know most of the high level people mostly did like two hand kind of like yeah, there's there's a lot of thumbing the nose that people who just go sword and shield in those games. And it seems like the developers are on the same page. Is it because Sword and Shield turned that game into like you waiting for them to attack you and then countering. Yes, it makes it. It just kind of removed a lot more passive Yeah, yeah, which I don't really like the because I was used to rolling under attacks while I was locked on, and now if you're locked on, you do that weird kind of side. It's faster reason it feels weirder to me than the role. So a lot of times with certain enemies, I will not be locked on just so I can roll under an attack, an attack from behind. I don't know. It seems like there's still a decent amount of invincibility in the dash or like the sidestep animation, so I haven't really had that problem. But yeah, like that's one of the main things I've changed is the role is still in there, but when you lock on, you're doing a very quick sidestep where you stay on your feet, which maybe doesn't cover quite as much ground, but it moves you around a lot faster, So that's in there. There's also they've taken out equip load, like armor doesn't have weight anymore, so there is no fat rolling. There's no like you're slower because you're wearing heavier stuff. Like it's just your fast all the time. I think my favorite little tweak they made was the not becoming undead and having your maximum helps get cut off because like then like if you're dying over and over in a Dark Soul's game, you get pissed off because like you're getting less and less health and you got to burn through a human effigy to get it back up there. But they were all exactly that way. But yeah, there were variations. There were variations on like, hey, you're in a dead state versus being quote unquote alive. Then all the other games that's also going and this one. Let's say you get to a boss fight that you can very easily get to from a lamp or whatever. If you keep dying over and over and you're not taking time to get souls on the way there, you're not really losing anything, you know, because as you die, you're not like chopping away at your health bar or anything. You can just keep going back. Do you lose like your XP equivalent, so you lose your souls or your blood echoes or whatever. But there were times to where it's like the blood craving Beast kept killing me over and over, but I could just run straight there and not spend a lot of time collecting XP and stuff. So if I'm going in there with zero or a few hundred souls, like who gives a shit if I lose it. I can just keep going back and forth and get better at learning as attacks. They've actually they've changed quite a bit of stuff about the way that the souls drop or blood echoes. They'll they'll still lay on the ground and like a blood stain sometimes but then and I don't know that there's anything particular that governs this, but other times when you die, either the enemy that killed you or even sometimes like another enemy nearby will actually kind of absorb them, and then you have to go back and find and kill that enemy to get them back. And you can see like their eyes are glowing and stuff, so it's not super hard to tell where they are. But it is a weird change. And I've actually had my blood stain just straight up disappear a couple of times. Yeah, both. It was the last two nights that I played, I died like basically rage quit because I lost a shitload of stuff, And then the next morning went back there and there was no blood stain, Like, I don't know what's went on, Well, it is it session specific? Like if you quitness, you're staying here, always been that way before, should be the next life four in this game or before. Well know, in all the previous games they persisted no matter what. Okay, but I guess that's possible that it doesn't seem right. I don't know. I don't know if I just missed something, but I'm glad that it seems like bosses cannot absorb your souls because he died so many times. It bosses like they are always in the spot that I died. Like, it's not like, well, you have to kill the boss or you lose all that stuff. How are the boss well? You do you do? Because you can't leave once you go into a boss, You can't leave it until you beat the boss. But if you get them from the ground, like you'll die, you can still get that back next time. You're right about that? How are the boss designs good? I'm on my fourth boss. I think I think we're going in a different order or something. Because you said you haven't done the blood craving Beast, I haven't even seen that. Have you seen the guy with the gatling gun up there at the top of the Okay, he's right past that. Wait, I don't know which way you went Like craving Beast, it's not the thing he's the one that poisons the shit out of you, like and that's why I kept dying. I kept running on antidote. It's not the thing you see hanging from the sea, is it? No? And that I don't I don't know how you know where you're talking about, but I have not seen another boss that in that direction. He's like in a big cathedral area. Ya did you go down a little hill after you get passed the did you kill the gatline guy? Yeah? I had to like push him off the edge basically to kill him. No, that he sucks. It's a little too This is a little too specific for in an audio form. You need to see this in action. But yeah, i'd fucking I choose that guy in the most ridiculous way post But that whole area is so much better once you kill it. I don't I don't know anybody that. I literally everybody I know who's beating that guy has knocked him off the roof in some way. They do the whole thing of all the games have done this, where you basically fight a bunch of NPCs who seem like player characters, and the thing you know, they use the same weapons as you. They have basically the same move set and stuff, but since you're so much faster in this and you have ranged weapons now, like guns, basically like there's so much more of a pain in the ass every time you find And this is one of those guys that we're talking about, Like wow, like the way guns work, you know, they can basically sort of stunlock you with guns and dash around super fast, like fighting those NPC like those player character equivalents are really it's a real page. So our guns a meaningful weapon in the game, or they just used to stun and like they used to kind of set up your real attack. So it's we're in this weird nebulous period with the Soul's game where nobody knows what the fuck is going on, right, Like, like the game is by the time people hear this, the game will be out have been out for a few hours. But there's like next to no information out there, right, Like these games, yeah, are about as obscure as it gets as far as explaining all their basic concepts, you know, like like you go into it with a bunch of stats that you don't even know the purpose of, and it's like, oh, I've got three currencies and I don't know what two of them do, and all these items have really vague descriptions, like nobody really knows anything yet. So this is this one's better about that stuff. It's immediately throwing out like fragrant branch of yours to this totally has that too. At the time I've gotten that as I got like a red brooch and I didn't know it, said like, oh, you can get like a blood pendent thing out of this thing. Yeah, I know what you're talking about, but I think you can. I think people can fall into the trap of having played a couple of Souls games and then thinking they get more accessible over time, when in reality you just know what to look for better. Do you break that Madman's knowledge thing? Those skulls? No, So that's what I'm talking See, That's what I'm wondering, because like I've been breaking every one of them, and I'm like, I bet I'm sucking up. Well, those those give you insight, Yeah, you get one each time, but I am only now starting to grasp what insight does. Like this is what I'm talking about. Like you've got you've got stats and tallies of numbers and you barely know what they do at first, So I think insight. So there's a shop that opens up later on that you can spend your insight on. But then my current understanding is you also spend insight to either summon people into your game or invade other games. So is it a currency or a level, because like I'm at like twenty five or thirty ends currency because it drops, like you spend it. See, I've never seen a drop. I've only seen it go up. Yeh, because you haven't been using it. Okay, you're using all your skulls, which give you insight, but you either have to go buy them by items with it or use it for multiplayer stuff. That's my current understanding. But I thought you know that again to my point, like, there's a bunch of right yeah, shit, And this is a very long winded way of answering your question about guns, which is to say, it may be possible to spec your character in such a way that guns can be kind of your primary attack. Yeah, but I'm absolutely not seeing it so far, and I don't think anybody has had time to try that. I think there were classes that kind of focus. Yeah, so that blood Tinge or something. Yeah, so you know, it's got the typical array of like kind of quasi classes at the beginning of the game, which are really just stat allocations, so you can kind of go anyway you want from there. Yeah, and you do have one of your One of the new stats is blood tinge, which feeds into weapons, but I haven't seen any guns that scale with that to the extent that they would make up for not using melee weapons. Also, I think you can only put guns in your off hand, right, I think so, And I wonder if you if any stat then can have you equip more than twenty bullets at a time or have that near him and twenty yeah, and then everything it's a story. Yeah, you can only carry twenty bullets. That's another thing. So so so it's not it's not a shooter, no, all right. So so broadly, here is what happens. You have a main hand weapon, melee weapon, and then an off hand gun the melee weapon. All the melee weapons in the game have a transform where they go from one mode to another, which in a lot of cases literally makes them a two hand weapon, so you can't use your gun at all. In other cases they remain a one hand weapon, so you can still use your guns, but they're still like a lot slower, so you're pretty much always gonna be relying mainly on that melee weapon. The weight guns work, they actually kind of like Roy. You'll appreciate this. In fact, I didn't even quite understand how to use guns until somebody just said, use them like shields and dark souls, and then it totally made sense. So you basically the way that you could perry and repost with shields and dark souls, yeah, is exactly what you do with guns in this game. So instead of when somebody's going to attack you, instead of like bashing them with your shield like you would have before, you shoot them. Okay, and that's basically how they work. But you only have twenty bullets. Yeah, so you only have twenty bullets. I mean the enemies drop bullets almost all the time. Like consumable items is another area they've really changed up in this game. I wonder if you've been in an area enough times if it stops dropping, because like at that boss fight, I kept burning through all my antidotes and blood vials and everything, and so I wanted to restock everything, and nobody was dropping anything, and I wondered if it was because I was killing them over and over and over again, because they used to disappear like in Dark Souls too, if you killed an enemy enough, they just wouldn't show up there anymore. But I'm just not getting dropped. Well, that was a new thing into that's not a like a thing they've always done. And again that's my only point of reference. I've only played too it. To me, it seems like they tend to drop more when you need them, like when I'm full on bullets and blood vials. They don't drop anything as much, it seems like. But so yeah, they you know, healing items like the Estis flask or whatever used to be a thing that every time you went to a bonfire they just replenished. Healing items are finite, like like purely finite now, so it is absolutely possible to just run out of healing items. I'm not have anymore, and then you gotta go grind for them, which is kind of yeah something. How's the overall difficulty compared to Dark Really hard? Tough? Yeah? The boss is pretty much all the bosses that I've seen. The first boss isn't too bad, but from there it wraps up pretty fast, but it seems it seems like a change from Dark Souls Too, which it seems like everyone was kind of coming out of Dark Souls Too, saying like, you know, you were like one shotting these barters, you know, well, not that getting on all the first try. Rather, Yes, like Dark Souls two had like two mini bosses almost point that it just felt like every five minutes you were fighting one, and some of them were like kind of uncharacteristically easy. Yeah, this does not have many bosses. It's usually fair though, because like that blood craving beast, like it would poison me terribly every time, and I died over and over and burned through those antidotes and everything, and it was so hard, even though I was playing well, and I thought like this seems unfair, and so I said, I'm gonna do that later. And then I found like a whole set of clothes that like, oh, this increases poison resistance, Now let's go try it, and then it becomes more of a fair fight. So you actually do have to play pretty smart with that stuff. If it seems too hard, you're probably doing something wrong. M Yeah that's fair, but yeah, like being able to run out of those those precious resources is kind of weird me. You can buy them, so you can buy them, you know, but then at that point you have to go out and grind souls to be able to go buy them, you know, like at some point, like it's kind of a new thing to not have any kind of like like you know, like a healing resource you can replenish just by going to the thing. You do get your life back when you go to the lamp, but god damn, you have to fucking load every time. Yes, the load times in this game are garbage. It's really really rough, really annoying. Every time you die, it's about a forty five second load back to the lamp, which is which is the Bondfire equivalent. And you were saying that now you you instead of just standing there and doing your business, you have to go inside something so kind to load and out right yes, in the past game, so it's actually a lot like Demon Souls, which was basically the same way of yeah you did you play Demons story? Yeah? Yeah, so you know you would load back into that hub where you went to all the levels from the nexus, I think, yeah, whatever it was to to level up your character, and stuff like that, so you have that again. Okay, and that's only I think I timed it at like ten to fifteen seconds, So it's got that bad getting in there, but then coming back it's a good forty five. It's also that forty five every time you die, Like I actually tested it. I went to a lamp and then ran to like the first herve enemies I could find and died, still like forty five seconds to load into the lamp you just died next to. Yeah, Well, what's crazy is if you die and you want to go back to the Hunter's Dream to change something out or whatever or buy something or sell. Uh, you die, and there's the forty five seconds to get you back to the last lamp you're at, and then you go from the lamp to the Hunter's Dream, which is another load, and then you have to go back from the Yeah, it's like a good three minute process just to go through all that. It sucks if you want to make like significant changes to your character, like I don't mind going there for some stuff, like I don't mind them locking certain things away in there, but at least being able to level up your character at the lamps would be nice like you can't do anything there. In fact, you can't even you can't even like heal and repopulate the world just by walking up to it. You have to warp into the Hunter's dream and back just to do that, where you could just rekindle the bondfire or whatever. I don't know why they made that. That seems like a really annoying, like unnecessary change to the flow of the game. It just slows things down. It's my least favorite part of the WHO game. Yeah, especially if you're in a really hard area and you just keep dying over and over, like about the third or fourth time that you quickly hit that load screen again, like I start thinking like maybe I should take a break, like it it really kind of dragged your progress down. But yeah, I think I think the world is pretty good. Like there's a lot of good shortcuts to unlock. You know, it's got that to a large extent, It's got that that kind of criss crossing interconnected feel of Dark Souls one. So outside the hub world, it's all kind of one big thing. It's one big linear world. I mean, you can warp to any lamp you want, like linear or well kind of the areas are pretty huge, and there's tons of different ways you can approach. Yeah, I would say like generally, if you were to like lay it out on a map, it would look pretty linear. But yeah, like you definitely hit a lot of branching points where it's like there's definite Like the point I'm at right now, I was like I went up a staircase and there were like three kind of paths in the middle. One was a super hard boss that I couldn't beat. Then the cathedral, yes, but then both sides were like pretty extended areas that I could also go explore. You go to the right the electric dude. Yes, did you kill him? Yeah? He kicks my ass every time? Have you How far have you pushed into his area? Now? I haven't found anything else because I get in there and he kills me. His friend. Yeah, there's one buddy he's got. Yes, So yeah, try fighting both of those guys at the same time. It's fucking nuts. Oh okay, I'm not gonna do that. Yeah. So there's a decent amount of like, you know, it's like, oh, I can't do this right now, I've got You've usually got like at least one other thing you can go poke around in a little bit, but very little indication as to what you should be direction. You know, they didn't they didn't put in anything. There are no aids. I got some item called the Shining Coins and I haven't used me yet, and it says like, oh, this will illuminate your path. I didn't know if that meant light up the area around me or if it would actually like, hey, follow this to get to the next. There was an equivalent of that in Dark Souls, and I've never used it, so I don't really know how it works. But people who have should know what you're talking about. But I know what you're talking about. I think I think I want to say it's more of a breadcrumb trail type thing where you can like leave markers for yourself I help keep trying of where things are. But yeah, like like I said, you know, it is a soul's ass Souls game, Like it doesn't really explain anything, doesn't tell you where to go. You're going to repeat areas over and over and over. Yeah, as you try to beat really hard bosses and stuff like that. Like it's you know, if that stuff put you off in the past, like camera getting hung up on things like that's still a thing, you know. Yeah, some boss fights are rough with that. I think that was the thing more for me because I, you know, I never got in deep enough to really care about the push and pull of like oh I dropped my stuff and fighting this boss and all this other stuff. It was more just like the the raw mechanics out of the gate and the camera stuff out of the gate, and just top to bottom the movement of the camera like it feels it literally feels like the same engine, like it feels identical to those games. The camera stuff doesn't screw up much, but when it does, it can be in really bad points. Like I've been into fights that are like, I'm it's really important, like I just need a cup more hit cent or whatever, and I'll be locked onto him and he'll dash towards me and I'll be buy a column or something. And also when the camera freaks out and I die, it's god damn it like that that's infuriating. Fighting in tight space is still a huge pain in the ass. It's too bad, but I really like it overall. It's like a really made, well made one of those games. It's interesting that no one has quite cloned it outside or from you know, yeah, I mean The Fallen, Like some people have kind of made their attempts and stuff. What else. Salt and Sanctuary is like literally a two D game that is Dark Souls, Right, It's kind of like crazy how specifically that game is Dark Souls and two D. But I think that in that case, that's kind of an interesting experience. Yeah. Yeah, I think that, Like, yeah, like we ran the Quick looky X of that a few weeks ago, and there are a bunch of people going like, wow, how dare they basically, But to me, it's like, yeah, I think that's a cool experiment. It's like, all right with this very specific type of game work in this completely other framework. You know. Yeah, I think it's you know, it's one of the things where it's like it hasn't necessarily been cloned the right way yet by anyone else, and if it had been, you could then at that point start to talk about it like it's a genre unto itself, but instead it's just, you know, it's from this very specific thing that they're doing. As it is, I think it's still kind of their thing, yeah for now. Yeah, yeah, And then I don't know. This one's weird because like there was you know, after a bunch of people were disappointed at darselves too. The it's almost like the narrative formed of like, oh, this is the game that Miyazaki's really being b teams spending all the time, like blood Borne is the real Dark Souls too or whatever. Like it's it's definitely a really good one of those. But I don't know, like I don't you know, I don't think it's like the Second Coming or anything. It's just a really good game of that type, you know. And you guys haven't done any multiplayer yet, not at all. They we got like a day with it before we got access to the multiplayer stuff and like that. You know, that stuff is good and good as always, you know, notes and and the kind of death animations and stuff like that. Like they've they've added a lot of personality to that stuff. The little Messenger dudes, I think are like kind of stand out addition to the game. Like you'll see them during the intro. There's just these little Ghouli looking guys that are kind of crawling all over everything in the UI, if that makes sense, Like the you'll see it, you know, like you should watch the video or just play yourself. But like like the messages and the the kind of the death spots and stuff on the ground just just be these kind of really flat, ugly decals pasted on the ground and now they're like fully three three D animations coming out of the ground of like these little hell creatures like kind of crawling out, crawling all over everything like that. That stuff's really cool. Yeah, I don't know if there's got anything else to add Dan, like, I'm just loving it. And you know, dark Souls and demon Souls. When I first started hearing about them, I remember thinking like, well, I it sounds like something I would hate. This sounds awful. And then I finally gave Dark Souls to a try because I remember folks at the office were really raving about it when it came out, and uh, yeah, I I picked up on it. And it helps to have people around that like play these games, whatever, they ask questions off or whatever, because yeah, it is a you know, it sounds like when people talk about Monster Hunter. Frankly, you know, it seems like there's probably a lot of similarities there totally. But yeah, if you got people you can ask about and obviously, like these wikis and everything are just super detailed and will be as soon as the game comes out, so yeah, just make sure you do your research on it. And there's like a shocking amount of information already out there in wikis in the game stah with like videos and stuff. Yeah, well I mean this, you know, street gate, street date got broken. You know, copies have been out there for a while, although you know, not fully online enabled, but you know, people have been collecting information. But yeah, like this is my favorite like phase of the cycle of the Souls game. You know, it's like it's brand new, nobody knows anything. Like my my text message log with Patrick is like a mile long from this past weekend, or like sending a little like videos back and forth of like did you see this ship? You know, like what the fuck is this? You're like, there's some really crazy stuff in this game, like just to here and there, just a little minor things. Figured out how to make twin bloodstone charts. Make them? I don't know if you can. Oh, I thought you're saying you did figure that. I'm wondering if there is a way to do it because I have a billion standard ones and no, twin one. That's how That's how Dark Souls always was. You find the bigger slab of whatever. The basic the basic weapon, up grade materials are everywhere, but then like you get up into the second tier and they're a lot harder to come by. So I was hoping like the workshop tool or whatever, like in the Hunter's Dream, Like I hope it's like, oh, I can just hammer these two shards together or something. But dream it makes sense when you see it. It's very dreamy. Sure, it appears to exist some in some other plane of existence. The spooky doll that talks to you. Yes, there is a doll that comes to life. There's a bird fountains, walks up to you and goes buck fever. Yep. Basically that's the Hunter's dream. Yep. Are there any crystal lizards? There is an equivalent. Yes, Okay, they're not crystal or lizards pretty. They're pretty narrowly actually, they're really nasty looking things. But yes, I've never been in the past games. Uh, I don't want to say what they are here, just because I think they're gross and they're kind of hard to notice, so I'll let people find them. But the crystal lizards were a little like one off. They're not enemies because they don't attack you. They run away from you. We'll see them, Okay, I know exactly what you Over time in the series, they got easier to get, like basically, if you missed one, you could just repopulate the area and come back and try again. But like in Demon Souls, it was possible to practically miss one of those forever. Like, yeah, they were really rare and hard to get. Yes, there that is in here like all that stuff. Like when I say it's a Souls game, like I can't think of a major like aspect of those games you could name that is not in here in some form, Like it is absolutely that, and they're not pretending anything else, you know, the shields man, Yeah, except for shields but again, you know, like they have equivalence that do more or less the same things. They just clearly don't want you just standing there blocking damage, which I think is fine. Like I'm you know, I've really warmed up to the way it plays. The transforming weapons are fun, like the the main one that they show, the saw leaver that that's been in all the marketing. It's just the giant staff with a blade on it. Like that one's pretty straightforward, like it just kind of as it is, the blade sort of curves down past the handle, so it's pretty short switch blade and you just yes, so you literally just snap it up on a hinge to make it like twice as long when you want to transform that one. But like there's a cane you can get that turns into like a chain whip. I got the kirk camera, and the Kerkhamera is fucking amazing. It's like it's like a short sword. It's like a kind of a not full like a bastard sword or whatever. Yeah, but you carry like the head of the biggest fucking like sledgehammer ever on your back, and when you transform it, you like snap the sword into the head of the hammer to make like a giant just like fuck off sledgehammers do you have? There are the combos that like involve the transformation, so like mid combo, you'll be pulling it out and finishing it. So it seems like later weapons where like the two hand or the transforming equivalent is a lot slower. That'll be a lot harder to do. But yeah, the starting weapons absolutely you can like transform mid combo. Okay, so am I fucking up? If I'm mainly like, I'm not transforming a lot, especially with the sock cleaver, I never transform it, and I'm just doing the R one thing really ill a case the forward and R two like jump attack. But oh there's a lot more you can do. So you can also you can charge our two. It's a charge attack, which is kind of new in this game. You hold it in so the traditional backstab is gone. That's another thing. You can't just circle around behind enemies and backstab him anymore. You have to put them into some kind of staggered state. So you can do that, like I said with kind of the reposed stealth County stealth kill from behind like stealth stab. You could do that in Dark Souls. So that's the thing. You can't do that by just going up and hitting our one. Okay. So that's where the charge attack comes in. If you hold our two, you'll charge until your weapon like flashes, and then when you hit them. Depending on the enemy, some of some of the bigger enemies that doesn't work on, but it'll generally drive them to their knees. All yeah, and that's when it all states, Uh, yeah, I think so. Shit, I got all the weapons I've tried it with absolutely okay, like there you know, there are I'm at the point of the game now where you know you're you're in the same place, like the even the fodder enemies are like, you know, a commitment to fight, Like it's a good thirty seconds to just hack and slash even the most basic enemies at this point. But if you like, if you properly use a charge attack or like you know, repost them with a gun, it's just a single like you know, canned like basically a front stab. You know, you're not backstabbing anymore. But it's the same animation as before you did it in Dark Souls, see right, it's it's the same type of you know, lock into an animation and do this canned attack and yeah, that's killing them and one hit easily. Okay, Like so you really want to try to get good at that. The sock leaver can do that. All the weapons go okay, that's totally gonna use that then. But you know, some of the guns come out faster than others. I've got a one that shoots two bullets each time. Now, yeah, I looked at that one. I don't know that. I like it a lot better. Well, do you have the shotgun or the blunder bush. I'm using the pistol. That's what I started with, and I'm really happy I went to the repeater doing it for damage though, Like that's the whole thing with guns is they don't really do any damage. I'll use it occasionally, like if there's a guy standing on type of wagon shooting at me or something. Yeah, yeah, it's good for you, and I'll shoot him off, or good for it's good for cheesing certain bosses also yeah yeah, but but you're generally like you're not gonna go around shooting everything to kill it. No, no, no, no, So i'd seen too. I pretty much valued like how fast I could get it out and shoot a guy while he was attacking me. That makes sense, So they put him into that staggered state. Yeah, Like, you know, people who have played all these games, I think are really going to appreciate the changes they've made. It definitely like kind of changes up the loop of the gameplay a lot. But again, you know, like if you just hated the way the controls felt and the camera and the repetition and etcetera, etcetera, like this, Yeah, this, I mean, I'll probably give it a try. Yeah, I've that's I've done that with all of them so far, sure, and each one has been kind of like okay, Yeah, I mean, I guess it's always worth it if you think you if you want if you think you could like them, or more specifically want to like them, Like, there's always the chance that they might have done enough this time to reel you in. But it's one of the best series for giving you that feeling of like because because each area you do so many times. When you first get to it, it's so tough, and you just memorize every enemy's placement and where they come out and everything. So like going back to the first areas when you get like super powerful, it's so awesome to just like go through and just grind through everyone because you remember spending so much time and being so afraid of everyone, and now you're still powerful. The ramp, yeah, the ramp on your power output is pretty fucking crazy. In these games. Have you found stuff going back that was worth going back to? I feel like I cleared the starting areas pretty thoroughly, but I went back to find that lady to tell her the church was safe, and she's just been a total asshole to me the whole time. Other than that, Yeah, I went back trying to find more people to get in the church, but I've only found the one. I feel like this is the game that's gonna finally make me sort out my English accents, like I don't I still to this day, I don't really know my Cockney from my Welsh, from my East London or whatever those some of those might be the same thing. But there's a lot of good, thick English accents in this game, so a lot of good personality there. I really do hope the environments start changing it up, though, Like considering where we're at, Like are you talking about like when you go up to that big cathedral thing and to the left is where the forest is? Yeah, okay, so I'm right at the lamp past that, Okay, is that around where you're at? Yeah? Okay, it's that seemed promising just from when I looked out fought the witch. Yet I don't think I thought a which. Okay, there's the big like never ending U story dog in the cathedral I've done. Yeah, yes, foal Core is Yeah, I can reveal this is no Okay characters, Man, where does it end? Okay, so you've done somewhat different stuff than I have. Yeah, we haven't done the blood having beasts. I spent so much time I don't know where that is. But but again, I was in that area you're talking about with the past the gatling gun guy. Okay, did you go inside the place where they're all having the creepy ritual thing. There's like a ton of dudes in there, like the hooded guys and the big ones. Sah, I did, and I cleared that room out, all right. Huh what fat enough paring notes about very specific things fine from the game. I mean, that's what's that's what's half of what's so fun about playing these games. On the view though, it is just like totally it is. It is infinite fodder for like water cooler chat basically, like it's just impossible not to just come in and kind of gab with with other people playing it all the time, and that's kind of half of what's so fun about it. But uh, yeah, if you like souls, check it out. If you don't, probably don't. My official appraisals is there a PC version, so yeah, and like japan Studio gets a credit right up front. Yeah, like the Sony was very heavily involved in this game, So I would not expect this to ever come to any other platform, but you have PS four I do. I'm looking forward to it. Yeah, I'm curious to hear what you think about it. It's a shame about the PC thing, though, because like Dark Souls two ran so well in PC, and like if we could cut down in those load times. Yeah, the load times are the worst. Like that's the one spot where it's like, oh, this would be so much better on the PC. But the frame rate is also kind of spotty in places, and you've upgraded to a slightly faster HAD drive. MYRD drive is just a hair faster than what ships with the regular be curious to hear if it's much better on an SSD, But it seems like that there are other bottlenecks in that system that doesn't necessarily make SSD's worth it. Yes, absolutely, like it definitely speeds it up that helps you, not in the way that an SSD would on a PC. Yeah, Yeah, it seems like you're talking like it's two or three seconds faster, not not like half the time or something like that. Yeah. That that's probably the single biggest blight on the game, which is pretty good otherwise. So yeah, we have a live quick look happening shortly after this podcast goes up. Yeah, it's Tuesday. Yes, let's released a rory. Hey. Hi, Hi, while you haven't been playing Bloodborne, I haven't been playing Pillars of Eternity. Uh, And I should probably disclose they used to work for Obsidian, So, which is the sequel to Alpha Protocol? Yeah, how faithful to your vision? Did they stay? Uh? It's a good game. I like it a lot so far. I'm like eight nine hours and I think, Uh, you were there while they were working on I have five years ago, so uh No, I wasn't there at all when they were working on this, And I'm trying to think they've put out a couple of games that I wasn't. Uh south Park, I think I was there right as they started to work on it. It was kind of rumored that it was the contract might come through for south Park, but I was well gone when Pillars of Attorney due three. H's think what else Subsidian has put out in the last since, like since Alph protocol basically before South Park. Yeah, yeah, Fallout was the last thing I worked on. Uh Dungeons Cheed was I think being worked on my left. But it's been a long time. Yeah, you were, you were well clear of Pillars. Yeah, no, no point. It was never even a Glinton anybody's eye. Although they were trying to pitch a lot of stuff obviously, you know, new ips and everything like that. Well, this was their Kickstarter. That's kind of the big four million dollars on Kickstarter, and from what I remember of the studio, that's kind of a small amount of money to make a game for US studio the size of Obsidian. But so far, I've played about ten hours and it seems like it's really polished. It's really great. I like it a lot. If you've played Baller's Gate two or Iceman Dale, it's going to be very very familiar. Yeah. They brought it through a few months ago, and I was like shocked how similar it looks through those games. Like it was it was like right after Divinity Original Sin had come out, and like that game seemed like sort of the same kind of game but modernized. Yeah, and then I saw Pillars and it was like Oh shit, they're really just making another Infinity Engine type game. Yeah, it's even got down to the you know, icons and the cursors, a lot of that stuff. It feels very similar, just like the look of the assets and the walk animation and stuff like that. Yeah, it's really really similar, except it's obviously not D and D at all. There's a new rule set which is pretty easy to grasp as far as I can tell, I kind of got into it pretty easily. It's not you know, you don't have to read a manual to really get into the game pretty quickly. So, uh yeah, it's a it's an interesting little storyline. You kind of it reminds me a little bit of a soul eater thing for Mask of Betrayer, where you you kind of immediately when the game starts, your character becomes kind of superpowered with a weird uh it's hard to explain, but you kind of can look into people's souls and see things from their past, and that's kind of one of the big things that you can you can do in the game. You also see spirits every every once in a while, but uh yeah, so it's tactical combat. You can get six people in your party. I got them pretty quick. You can make new characters. You make your your first character, and then you can actually make more at after when you get to an end. So if you don't have the maximum number characters, you can make more. Uh. But yeah, it seems really well written so far. It's tough on normal, it's pretty pretty difficult. You have a lot of different you have to have slashing, piercing, different kind of weapon types versus different kind of enemy defenses, so you it'll actually pop up a notice like this weapon's not doing anything but can switch in the middle of combat. That sounds super handy. You can actually all the autopause stuff you can. You can set it to autopause as soon as you have a weapon not doing anything. So I feel like I've maybe I'm just coming off a series of games that don't tell you when you're doing things wrong, like playing Cities last weekend and then a bunch of blood Born. Well it doesn't tell you right away. It sounds super handy. You have to build up what you might call it a monster kind of compendium, so you have to beat you know, ten or fifteen zombies until you figure out what's going on. But yeah, it's it's yeah, it's really interesting. You you know, you go from place to place and you you have to search for, you know, items that everything like that. It's not how's the story stuff convey it? Is it? Do you have a lot of choices in dialogue and stuff like that or you kind of it's it's the old style. You know. Uh, you have you know, a series of uh conversation options, and you'll have some that are great out If you don't have the requisite kind of uh, you know, skills or whatever, you can actually turn that off if you don't want to see what you can't do. But yeah, you have all it's it's there's a lot of voice acting, but most of the stuff there's not a lot of cut scenes. It's kind of these uh, not really animated, but it'll it'll go to a kind of a I'm trying to explain, it's kind of a you know, illustrated screen where when you want to do something in the world that is not part of the actual game rules. So I went to a castle and I found a vine that went up to the side of it. So I wanted to seek behind all the enemies guarding the gate. It kind of goes to this other screen and you can roll your checks or athletics or whatever like that. So it's neat. It's obviously if the game had, you know, ten times a budget, they would make cut scenes and stuff like that. But it's done really well so far. Uh Yeah, really enjoyed a lot. So it seemed like something that anybody could get into if they never played one of those games way back when. Yeah, I don't think you'd have to have that background in order to get into it, but it definitely helps in terms of moving out of the UI and kind of your inventory and stuff like that. But uh, it's it plays pretty well. It's hard to judge that kind of stuff because I did play all the bullers Gate and if some Dale stuff, so it's it's kind of going back to a I think that I'm really familiar with it, So it's hard to say if if you could jump right into it, it'd be a little more difficult, but it doesn't seem like it's it's that intimidating, but really hard to tell, and it seems like it as difficulty options if people want to not have to think as much in the combat, knock it down or there's a lot of difficulty options. It's it's one of those. It's an interesting game. There's not a lot of graphical options, but there's plenty of different There's four different difficulty levels and you can make it. You know iron Man, where there's only one safe and so if you fuck up, you're kind of boned. But I'm playing on normal. It's pretty challenging. I've run into some some The second area I got to actually found a fight that it couldn't beat, so I had to go on past it and then loop back around to get it when I had more party members. So it's yeah, you have to kind of explore there. There was a one fight I couldn't beat, so I had to go do something else and try to get more levels and come back to it. So that happened, seems to be happening a few times so far. Yeah, I'd never played any of those games back in the day. There's always this thing that I like respected from Afar based on the people that I knew who liked it, If that makes sense. Sure. It's like it's like all the people I know who play these games and love them are like really serious about their role playing, so these things must be for real. They're dense, I mean, but obsidy and Strength has always been its writing. So so so far it seems like it's really well done. I haven't gotten in the main meat of the plot. I haven't gotten to the stronghold or anything like that, so I'm kind of trying to figure out what's going on, but it seems like it's pretty strong so far. Cool really dig it I planned to hear that turned out all right? Yeah, yeah, it's I've had a few bugs so far. The main one I got was I have a multi monitor set up at home, and I try to cage the the cursor so it will actually scroll the screen around when I move it to the side, And for some reason, every time I get no fight and leave the fight, it'll actually uncage it so it'll go off to the other monitor rather than scroll. So that's a big annoying one so far. But apart from that, it seems pretty polished and we'll put together excellent. Yeah. So I ended up like messing with like Balder's Gate one, but like I'm trying to think like the last D and D game, it played like it might have been like Dark Sun Shattered Lands. Wow. Yeah, going back there. Yeah, I played like most of the gold Box stuff. Yeah, it hasn't been a great license for the last like ten years or so, Like Atari hasn't been doing much with it, and Never Winter came out. I guess like Atari's in a position to do anything with anything. Yeah at this point, Hasbro I guess is forgive Jeff Mitters shit. Yeah. Uh yeah, there haven't been a lot of good D and D games in a long time. Uh, Never Winter. I know people kind of enjoy, but uh, this seems to be kind of you know, spiritual successor kind of thing. Sure, it seems really wellful together. I'm I'm curious to see how long it goes because it's it seems like a really big game. It looks great too, all the three D kind of backgrounds and your characters. I think they're three D models you can make big head mode and everything like that, so they pop right up. Uh, and it looks looks great. I wonder how hard that is like to be a developer that like largely made your name making games based on a license and they're not having that license anymore. It seems like, you know, the primary thing would be like you're on the story end of things, right, I mean, you know, they're still dragons, I'm sure of there. I mean that was the same thing with dragon Age, right, Like that was BioWare making their own fantasy setting. Or you know, like Mass Effect from Cotur, same same process, but it's kind of like I think, I feel like Mass works from Cotar, like is actually a fairly dramatic ship where they had a lot of license with the swords and sorcery sort of things, or you know, stuff is a little more rigid to go to the end. Yeah, I haven't gotten much into the world kind of building stuff yet, but the obviously can tell the mechanics are pretty well thought out. So it's one of the biggest things about making a new world is building the entire rule set for combat and everything like that. It's you know, real time pause. You've got to pause a lot because there's no AI settings for spells and stuff like that, so you have to basically everybody to default to auto attack whatever weapon they have, so you pause a lot, you cast spells and everything like that. I haven't seen at least any kind of AI stuff, so there's some weird classes and learning all that kind of stuff, and you know, I've started with a fighter that's pretty basic, but there's some other stuff like a chanter who will kind of sing songs during combat and then can can blow up with crazy stuff. So learning all the mechanical stuff is kind of the biggest obstacles. There's somebody who knows the D and D rule set, because it's pretty pretty new, but it, like I said, it doesn't seem too crazy from the outset, and there's a big journal with you know, all the mechanics and keywords and anything like that, so you can look it up any time. Excellent, good to hear. Uh. I've been so head down in blood Borne I barely even know what else is happening. Anybody else played anything? Yeah? Yeah, So I've messed around with the Borderland's Handsome Collection, which is out this week. That's it's like it's Borderland's two and the presequel what with DLC included with no Borderlands no Borderlands one? Weird the Borderlands you would want to play? Is it? You know? There are things about Borderlands one that probably have not aged super well. Yeah, it has its problems with boss fights and stuff like that, but the four characters of Borderland's One are better than any characters they have created. Sense I would argue with that. I just I feel like didn't two. I feel like two had enough kind of UI refinement and stuff. Yeah, mechanically too, Two is a better game kind of story wise and lore wise. I feel like that's where they start to fuck it up. Uh in a way that kind of turned me off. Also, how old is presequel? Like five months? Yeah? Yeah, something like that. Six came out like October, right, Yeah, that sounds right. It's already out in a remaster. Yeah, so they've got character import in this for uh, you know, like obviously you can't go cross company lines, but your three sixty characters come up to Xbox one, which is what I did. And I assume you know, it sounds like your Vita characters or your PS three characters will come out of Borderlands two. That even Vida. That's even presequel prequels. Not on the Vida obviously, but I heard the Vida Borderlands two was was frame rate issues on that? Yeah, it's yeah, yeah, those guys did the port work for Borderlands two four Xbox one and PS four, Uh and uh yeah, I don't know, it's uh the frame rate's not what I wanted to be really out of that thing, Like like it's what do you I don't know, I don't know what my expectations are, Like repeat myself. What. Yeah, Like there there were times playing Borderlands two on the Xbox One that it just kind of boxs down. I'm just like, what the fuck's going on? Like what what do we? Why am I? Like you know, they're talking about like remastering these games, and like they're they're pushing this is like which is which is one hundred percent true? Play Borderlands two and the high and and the presequel and the highest fidelity available on a console su Like yeah, no, totally. Yeah, it's certainly better than what shipped on previous consoles, but like it just it's not clean like the PC version is, which I suppose that's an unfair comparison at this point where we're talking about a game that's like kind of old. I mean, it's unfair interms. Yeah, yeah, but in terms of like going from last generation to this generation, Yeah, it's uh, it's it's it ain't all that looking at it, you know, like like presequel also just kind of like yeah, this kind of bogs down and you know, like obviously it looks sharper and it's higher res, and you know it's closer to you know, the experience I had playing like I played. I played one and two on the three sixty and then went on to play two again on the PC. Uh. You know, I messed with every version for review purposes and stuff like that, but in terms of like finishing the game and doing stuff like around, I played Borderlands two again on the PC or a large large chunks of it. Anyway, that was a good PC port. It was one on the PC that was you know, just the they didn't that was. That was like right on the cusp of when the expectations of what a controller meant on a PC game. We're we're really starting to coalesce. That UI was it was fucked up. The UI was bad. The matchmaking multiplayer stuff was all just by stuff. It was. Yeah, it was. That thing was a fucked up version of that game. Yeah. And and so anyway, I don't know, I played some Borderlands two and went and we'll probably do a quick look or something. Uh, it's got all the DLC in it and stuff, so you know, there are parts of that I haven't seen yet. So I I imported my character off the three sixty uh and had a level level thirty five character that I can run around with and do stuff, and I would be interested taking a look at the Tiny tinat DLC. That's I just started that because I I've probably mentioned before, I got like ten minutes into that with the character that was way, like woefully under level, so I couldn't keep going. Yeah, but the little bit I saw that seemed pretty awesome. Yeah, it's you know, they they've done I feel like they've done that specific thing before of like, hey, you're kind of playing Oh no, no, I'm never mind they I don't think Bordlands has done that specifically thing before. Other games have, but you know, it's it's a D and D campaign that you know is taking place as the backdrop to your DLC. And I don't like Tiny Tina. Well I'm not not my favorite character either, but what they did with her and the way just the way the story was presented, and yeah, I think that that I'm kind of a sucker for that concept. So I don't know how deep they go with it, but just the little bits of like I remember deep enough to when you go up to the vending machines, like the they've rerecorded lines of dialogue where it's deep suthing like well, I'm not a doctor, said, I'm not a cleric. Like it's just like it's this goofy little things like that. That's like there's an attention to detail there that you you can appreciate. Well, the thing they caught my attention, and again maybe they don't ever do this again, but like I remember it kind of like the levels in the world responding to her dming basically like she would change her mind on something and then it would just like happen, Yeah, right in front of you all those I haven't I haven't played enough of it to know how much more it does. But yeah, there's a lot of that upfront. Cool. Yeah, and it's yeah, I don't know, it's uh, the import process. I would think that like because all these systems have some form of like cloud upload, that it would just pull your saves directly out of that cloud instead of like I had to go find a Borderline's two disc for three sixty, put it in, patch it up, and then there was an upload character option there and only once I had done that could I then go download the character into the Xbox One. It was like a separate the same last year. Yeah, and I think like almost all games that have had that do that, And I'm just they must not let Xbox ones see cloud saves for three sixty games. There must be some technical reason why that's not possible, because like to build game specific solutions to that, like the way that like cross save works on the Sony platforms too, of just like here's your cross save slot and all that's like, no, just fucking save it right, save it to the sky man. Fuck that. Fuck all. This is all of the DLC stuff integrated from the very beginning, Like you don't have to like activate it or anything. Just go talk to Tina on the map and yeah, yeah, you just you go to the zone that starts the DLC. You see the cut scene and it goes and yeah yeah, which for a new character, it might be a little strange once you get access to fast travel, because if I remember correctly, most of the DLC is a minimum level thirty, but it will scale up to thirty five ish, and it'll scale higher if you're playing on the play through two mode. I think that's how it works. Like all the level cap stuff they introduce and everything that's all integrated from the beginning. Yeah. Yeah. And the weird thing is if you import a character, like there are a bunch of achievements you don't get, like or maybe i'll maybe I'll get him if I level up or something like that, but there are achievements for hitting level five. I imported a level thirty five, didn't didn't get that stuff. So it's like sort of weird. I don't know, like the idea that like, if you care about achievements, you are to start a new character like that seemed like a little crazy. But we got a bunch of achievements for like some weird specific stuff, but not not all the ones. That's just it's just crazy to me that that thing wouldn't run smoothly, like at a certain point, I mean, yes, there's a version of the game out there that probably, like you know, if you had taken the PC version as it shipped and slapped it on an Xbox One, it's probably not gonna be able to run it into max settings. Yeah. Yeah, but at a certain point, I feel like you should start turning like detail features off to get the frame rate up. You know. I guess it's like you're not You're not. I don't know. Yeah, like you're not gonna miss detail that you can't see, but you're sure as hell going to see an ugly frame rate, you know. Yeah, and it would you know, it would be when things get hectic, you know, i'd be like or actually, specifically with Borderlines two was whenever I was in Sanctuary, the kind of hub city like that area just runs like shit in a lot of spots. So it's same. Yeah, I don't know, it's unfortunate or to come on remasters in the near future, right, Yeah, it's like thirty minutes from now. Yeah, man, what I don't know, this is not I don't we're reaching a point well whatever say earlier, we're reaching No, we're reaching a point where I'll just peel that part off of the news. But Rory, take a break. Don't worry that you could just go yeah, I'll just peel that stuff off. God of War three is being remastered for the PS four and then i GM is running a story on a rumor that Arkham, Arkham Asylum and Arkham City are also being poorted to Xbox one and and PS four and then there were some more details about DMC four. Yes, that's been known for a while, but I guess they teased it or whatever. Like I felt like it was sort of a running joke for a while, and like the joke isn't funny anymore at some point, like if you're Sony and Microsoft, what point do you step in and go like, all right, guys, like you're actually like I don't know, maybe maybe it's just me, like I feel like this makes those consoles look bad when the Yeah, that's when so many of these remasters, so many old games coming out and and not being buoyed by new games of similar size. It's not I'm sure if you go title for title, then yes, there are tons of independent games and smaller games and download only games that are they're definitely coming to those platforms. I'm sure in terms of numbers it probably works out, But in terms of equivalent size and scope and stuff like that, like it's it's crazy to me what's going on? And yeah, at some point, you know, you look at it and go like, well, why would I buy this machine? That's just it seems to be full of like PC ports and remastered versions of old games like what you know, where's the where, where's the market where the marquee reasons for me to buy these systems. I mean, you know, they're they're coming here and there, yeah and whatever, But but they're trickling out. Yeah, you know, it's not it's not the steady stream that you would want. And you know, maybe maybe by the time we get to this holl Day season, we'll go like, oh, they're the games, you know. Yeah, we gotta get past three. Yeah, I think, I mean we can totally declare these consoles a wash. But yeah, yeah, I mean even even after you three, it probably a little early because the consoles themselves are selling yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, you know, there's there's still a market for that stuff. But you just wonder, like it's just getting a little silly at this point. It is like I just you know, I'm still waiting for like Mass Effect Trilogy Remastered to drop any day now. Yeah. Yeah, seems like such a no brainer. Yeah, And then went back and played some more Ziggurat, which is it's out on the Xbox One now, it came out on the PC and like October or something. I played a few minutes of that on the PC. It's really cool. I remember we played it in some live stream at some point and like first person, like a kind of a low five first person, like a Hexan if Hexan was a rogue light yeah thing ye yeah, you know you get a staff that shoots wide area affect what you know, it's like interesting weapons you're fighting, like it seems like the primary enemy are the fucking asshole flying skulls from Doom. Yes, and the levels are randomly generated and stuff like that. Like, it's just it feels great. That's fast, Yeah, very fast, very fast. I like the way it looks like it feels like a ninety shooter. Uh yeah, yeah, I think it. It looks a lot better than that. And you know, just in terms of the speed and the way you move around and stuff. Yeah, that's that's been a lot of fun, just kind of going back to that finally. And I didn't know that was coming out in consoles. Yeah, I didn't know either. I saw it. I sits out on Xbox one now. But yeah, that that's mostly it for me, all right, You know, Dan, you got anything else? Major burning a hole in your pocket? Nothing. Major played a couple levels of Hotline Miami two didn't do a ton for me, Yeah, I haven't even looked at that. I messed with it a little bit, and yeah, same here, it's all right, it's more of the first one, and well, yeah Alex Alex seemed to think it was lesser. I think my issue with that game is that it feels like it starts right where the first game left off in terms of like difficulty and stuff like that too, where it's just like, oh, here's a harder Hotline Miami one, Like okay, that's that's not that's not why I Actually it kind of made me question why I came to Hotline Miami one in some ways, well that's harsh, where I was like, oh, like, conceptually, maybe this isn't like you know, like it's maybe like stylistically I love it, you know, like the music, the general vibe of the first game, but then this one kind of piles on a lot of it's like, oh so mysterious storytelling stuff, especially up front. I understand it. It thins out a little bit later on. I never finished the first one, and in the course of reading reviews of the second one, I like saw what twist was at the end of of one, or maybe not twist, but kind of the meta narrative layer. Yeah, there's kind of sounded really clever. There's a yeah, I mean yeah, there's kind of a second ending situation where you know, if you do some very specific stuff, you'll you'll get a Russian title screen and yeah, there's there's Yeah, it's interesting, but it sounds like they didn't necessarily build on that much in the sequel. I don't know or or I mean the gameplay doesn't build on things in a way that made me want to stick with it. Yeah, this is probably the larger thing, right, but also in terms of storytelling, like it sounds like the way they framed the first game almost didn't really leave a much room to go anywhere from there. You know, it's I won't get too deep into that without having seen it myself. I'm trying to stretch here until Rory gets back from the bathroom. Yeah, because news is momentous this week. Oh man, sure there are no any no other video games. There's a big flash sale on Psyeah. I was looking at that. There's a lot of like sub one dollar games. There's story. Yeah, basically like every PS one and not every PS one game they got like Tech End they two games. PS one games for part of that, Yeah, had tech and two they had both Wild Arms games. Oh that's a bummer. I was browsing it on the PS four version of the store, so it filters down to just PS four. There wasn't much as far as PS four. There's like certain yeah in terms of just like yeah, p S three and like PS two, PS one stuff like it was. PS three isn't a box. I got Kdemry Demasci for nine cents, man, I should have that's a pain. I guess I could have gone on the website. Yep, it's it was. It was really nice to see some like under one dollar games on a console. Though. Yeah, it's like this is a good proper steam stale pricing right here. Fighting Force for P one ninety cents. I think you maybe you paid a little too much. I paid fifty dollars for that when it came out. That's way too much. It's good to see, like I would totally buy a lot of games that I will never play for that price. Like why not spend ninety cents on something even if you know you're never gonna touch it, just to have it ninety cents? Yep. The price is right. All right, let's move on to the news. Not Rory's back. Sorry, no, totally fine. We've all got our needs. Hey remember last week when I said there was no news and then like within twelve hours of the podcast being recorded, there was fucking news. Oh sure, yeah? Yeah, Oh boy, I think the Nintendo thing is the big thing for the week. Yeah yeah, Nintendo is going mobile of a fact. Ah yeah, Rory, did you hear about this? No? No, I don't think so. Uh. Glad you're here to play dumb so I can explain the whole thing. Please. Nintendo, you know, their fortunes have been up and down. Shareholders have been calling for them to get into the mobile space. They have a massive stock of IPS that would be perfect for that audience. Now they're doing it. Yeah, they have announced to deal with DNA. They kind of a Japanese mobile giant. Yeah, they're they're a big mobile company. They made Was it mobage because how you say it? Sure? I guess if it's Japanese that would make sense. Before I knew that it was a Japanese service and I saw the name, I assumed it was mobadge b Na, mobadge Bra. No, let's go with mobog. Let's go with Moboga because it makes me feel less filthy. My understanding is that thing is basically kind of a service slash API layer four mobile games, almost like an Xbox Live or something. Yeah, is that right? Yeah? Yeah, the companies made those back before game Center existed, and then game Center existed on iOS, and at some point like the value of that stuff seemed to be reduced. Yeah, but it sounds like that one is still pretty big. It's my understanding. I guess. Yeah, I don't, I don't, I can't say. I don't know. The Japanese mobile market is not one hundred percent aligned with the Western one, It's true, So I don't know for sure, but I mean my impression is that these you know, the DNA is is one of the companies in Japan for this stuff, Like they have got a tremendous number of free to play mobile games out there. Now they're going to co develop games on mobile with Nintendo. Yeah, so I guess that's the thing. Is there's a joint venture, some money changed hands for stuff, and uh, this is all going to new development where their Nintendo is allowing Nintendo IP to appear in new products. Yeah, this is this is This is not them taking any S games and dumping them on iOS. Yes, this is them saying we're never going to make a Wrecking Crew game, but maybe we should do one for iOS. I bet they won't. I bet they won't. But hey, yeah, yeah, they just said. Yeah, they did say no, no existing games from any consoles will be coming to mobile. It's all. It's all unique, brand new development. And it seems like that they're viewing this as like something that will get the word out about Nintendo's games and partially serve as marketing for their real business. Sure, And I don't know, but that's necessarily the best way to think about, like, like in terms of like making quality products, like this sounds like a good way to make a bunch of bite size shit that as soon as you finish it, it says it's bye, ale way you. I don't know. I bet they'll make a pretty penny off of the mobile stuff itself. I don't know that they're just trying to drive people to their console stuff. I mean, I would like to think they wouldn't be, But yeah, I was reading up on DNA a little bit before this, like they a handful of their games are among the most profitable mobile games in history. Like, they fucking know how to make addictive games. Do you have any of the I don't have any of the names in front of me. They are. I feel like I looked over a list of their products and like, all right, and none of them really right, Like, yeah, they didn't register with me either, But they are huge in the licensing game, Like they make licensed mobile games out the ass Transformers and like, oh, that's they made one of those Transformers games, like they they like I looked at just kind of like a here's a bunch of their top games on the app Store, and like a ton of them are licensed properties. So we're gonna get Metroid. We have to pay a dollar for every missile or something like that. Is Oh, I don't know. Are they all free to play what they do? I I don't know to play, but I think most of that's I mean that's where the market is. Yeah, Synchronous Mario Party, Yeah, I mean that takes a lot of the violence out of it if you're not in the same place as someone, right right, Yeah, a lot more broken phones though, Fire Emblem and Advanced Wars like that type of gameplay I think would be perfect for Yeah. I mean obviously, like turn based stuff is done really well. You see Advanced Wars or something like that working out. It depends on where they put the money hooks though. If they're making a free play game, it's you know, it's an inherently different kind of thing. Yeah, and obviously, like you know, Mario Runners stuff like that. I don't I don't know what to make of this because they go into very little detail about like who's gonna be doing what, Like they don't flat out just say, hey, we're giving these ips to DNA to make games with. Well, it sounds like that they're Yeah, it sounds like they have formed some kind of strike force to figure it out. And that's some amount of Nintendo people. The quote is that they have entered into a quote business and capital alliance. Yeah, but yeah, like who knows like where the line share of the actual game design is going to be happening. I can't imagine Nintendo will not have a fair amount of over so I'm sure they've got one hundred percent like veto power on whatever is going to come out of this, But still like whether they'll be putting any of their top developers on this stuff or whether it's just kind of a like they're going to sign off on whatever DNA is doing, or if it's going to be more of a true collaboration. Like who can say, but I'm not like, you know, some people are running around like screaming like oh the sky is falling, cats, dogs, blah blah blah. It's like, no, this is a natural evolution that like you know, has been Like, if anything, this is probably the smartest thing that could have done in terms of addressing this specific topic total, you know, rather than getting into mobile on their own without having had the learnings of a lot of the developers that are already doing it. You know, there's a lot of dumb shit that Nintendo that like NCL, probably would have done if they had been left to their own devices in the mobile space totally. By partnering with someone who's been there, there's at least someone who can step up and go like, no, this is actually terrible, right, you guys know this isn't it doesn't work like this. Also, it gets you know, it kind of gets the sharehold advice versa. Yeah, you know, it gets the investors off their back that have been clamoring for this move for ages. But but it doesn't mean that they have to shift their strategy. It's smart business, you know for Nintendo and the you know, I can't. Yeah, it's one of those things that like this is probably the most timid and learned way they could have made this move. So sure, yeah, do you think it has any kind of long term impact on their handheld stuff? Funny you should ask, okay, because they came out like either right after this announcement or it's actually part of the same and yeah, like right at the end. So actually, but before we get out, like it's part of this, they're also going to be building like a service, yes, uh, DNA and Nintendo will like, you know, some kind of online network for Nintendo players that I will hook into the consoles and hook into the PC and some phones and like it sounds like everything Club Nintendo replacement, Like they just shut that down not that long ago. So they've also got they've also got your like Nintendo Network ID, right, so it's even supplant that I don't know, maybe they didn't get too specific about that, but there is some kind of network end to this that yeah, who knows the language is new multi device membership service. Yeah. So yeah, that's supposed to span everything. But yeah, I don't I don't necessarily see any immediate downsides to this. I mean yeah, because it again it's you know, they're they're calling on development resources from DNA. It's not like they're taking like, well, we were gonna have these guys make the next Metroid, but now instead they're going to be working on Freedom. Like they're not in that situation. Nintendo's not at a desperate cash strapped state where they have to like divert effort that way. Like, and the part you're about to say is I think like speaks to that, right, Like that's the other end of this thing that makes it feel fine, Yeah, is that they also got out there and said that, you know, this shouldn't really be a big surprise to anybody, but they are hard at work on their next piece of dedicated gaming hardware code named n X. What that is does anybody's guess. Nintendo has decided to deploy its video game business on smart devices. But it is not because we have lost our passion or vision for the business of dedicated video game systems us you know. On the contrary, because now we have decided on how we will make use of smart devices. We have come to hold an even stronger passion and vision for the dedicated video game system business than before. As proof of that, blah blah blah, let me confirm Nintendo, this is iwatah. Let me confirm that Nintendo is currently developing a dedicated game platform with a brand new concept under the development code name NX. So what exactly that is? Anybody could say? Also, like, you know, if they're still shipping systems every five years, then they're always working on a new console. Yeah, yeah, like that's not super surprising, but you know, this is a good way to allay fear is that they're never going to make another machine, you know. Yeah, the question is like, what is it? Is it handheld? Is it? I bet it'll be a console with the gimmick. I mean, it seems like ever since the Weed that they like the idea of some kind of gimmick, whether it's the three D without glasses or like, I think they were way into the game pad idea and they just didn't do shit with it. So they probably want to replicate what happened with the first Weed by having some weird hardware gimmick. I think they have to unify. I think this has to be the time that it all becomes once it sounded like that. I think separately from this, there had been some talk about their development groups aligning resources in a more intelligent way to kind of better I think they when when talking about what they wanted to do in the future before, like the concept of like if they had a handheld device and a console, those being better at working in tandem than they are now. So so maybe not necessarily selling only one product, maybe still having two things, but they kind of connect up in some more integrated way potentially. I think that there's a lot of Yeah. I think there's a ton of potential out there for the idea of yeah, like a device that or a platform that can be both a handheld in a console. Yeah. Absolutely, I think that that is something that is a great place for Nintendo to be sure, especially if they're looking at I think that this is my layman's understanding of the tech. But I think kind of the architecture they've been on with the three DS and stuff has probably been holding them back a lot. But if they start turning toward like what's going on with arm these days and iPads and stuff like, that's a crazy amount of horsepower for the battery juice. Right, So if they start looking at something like that, like whatever the current is going to be for that in twenty seventeen, if that's when that this thing comes out, Yeah, I mean they they said that. They didn't say they have more news next year, right, like about the platform, so they won't they won't even be talking about NX anytime soon. Really. But you know, like you could envision a scenario where a portable could also be something that would work on a TV and it actually makes sense and not look like shit, you know, yeah, because obviously like nobody wants a three D Yeah, you know, I think like like people needed to take into account that we're talking about things two years from now. So like when you think about like portable on a TV, like the examples out there right now are fairly limited and it's like PlayStation TV, yeah, or but or or like the uh yeah, you know you think about like Android, you know, like those sorts of processors powering a TV, like those games look like shit, the system is unresponsive, Like it's a bad platform for games that's not necessarily the case today with that type of hardware, and it's certainly won't be the case in the future. You know, So if they're developing now for something for release down the line, uh, you know, that capability is there, whether they you know, whether it's a docking situation where you're docking a handheld, you'd almost see it as like, hey, we're gonna sell a console platform. It will come with a controller. By the way, if you want the pro version of this controller, it's also a handheld device that you can you know, transfer your games too from the base station screening it. Yeah, or like yeah, maybe the games run it like slightly reduced detail or something like that. Yeah, or you or you know, you use the base station to charge it up and yeah, and that's it. Yeah. The idea of one Nintendo thing that just kind of goes everywhere sounds super cool. I think it works really well for their games and what they do best. I think that, you know, like they need to get out of their own way when it comes to hardware. And I think that's the problem that we you and into a certain extent, the three DS had is by serving these two different audiences and two different platforms, like imagine if all that ship was filtered into one place and you're getting the brunt, the full power of Nintendo in one spot, right, you know, it would be a much more attractive offering than either of the platforms are, right and then you know, I think they do really well with their own stuff right now, but just imagine if that was on one place. Yeah, totally, it'd be easy to justify purchasing that, even assuming that no third party is ever gonna want to touch it, right, because that's the safe bet for a Nintendo. Sure, the third party is on Nintendo. With this point, the only sticky aspect of the whole like grand unified Nintendo system to me is that the handhelds traditionally sell to a pretty low price point. Like you know, they're selling to a lot of parents buying them for children. Yeah, so if you suddenly have to buy like a three to four hundred dollars thing to get the handheld, that seems a little sticky. Well maybe it's you know, so maybe they do need to end sell things and like piecemeal that work together. Maybe, you know, Like yeah, it's hard to say, Like maybe the console then is one of these handhelds with a and then the base station lets you connect it to a TV, lets you have offloaded storage to you know, keep games there that you then trans for to the device to take on the go or play on the TV or what have you know that you don't think VR might be what they're there. They've never been one to keep up with the Jones as far as hardware stuff like that, but they like to do their own weirdest thing. Yes, they definitely walk their und I think I think handheld it matters too much for them to to go with goggles even more so, you know, it's possible, even more so now that they're in mobile. You know, probably even some potential for some kind of cross talk there if they're building a network that works cross device, you know, I imagine that that's the sort of thing that's like, Oh, I have my chow garden, I'm raising fucking Yoshi eggs over here, And then they filter back into whatever bullshit game I've got over here, saying I need a new VMU. I'm saying your phone is the VMU, Man, fine on it right now? Just Evolve is the new VMU. That dumb match three game? Good everything is matched three kind of unlocked things in the future. H do you think the dual screen stuff is run its course? Because I'm sure as he'll do I do. I agree. Yeah, yeah, I'm trying to think of the last one that really made it seem necessary. I mean mostly it's just menus and stuff that I have no problem hitting. Start to get to well, I mean they kind of broke the whole thing, like going from there. Like the DS was one thing because the two screens were basically identical, so you could have the cool stuff on the touch screen and it wasn't a big deal. But ever since, like the top screen became the thing that mattered. Like what is the touch even good for? Yeah, now the touch the top screen is your three D screen. It's good for managing inventories things like that. Yeah, you know, like I feel like one big touch screen. And I'm not the only one that said this, It's been out there in the press as well. But but like, one big high res touch screen is way better than what they've got going now at this point. Yeah, yeah, I would agree with that and make it capacitive for fuck's sake. Although I've heard that party ten on the game pad screen when you're bowser and you're rolling dice, you can shake the game pad to make the dice roller on it. I bet you have heard that I spoil the man. Come on, Uh, you know I'm behind on this. We'll get there, Yeah, yeah, we'll get there, all right. So nobody in this room feeling especially bearish about this news, Like it seems like a good thing all around. Seems smart to me. It seems uncharacteristically smart. Yeah, it's it's the smartest way they could probably approach that subject. Like they're not Like, I'm not saying that these mobile games will be great. They might be terrible for you to play fucking garbage, but that's what works in that market. So don't assume that every Nintendo game has to be for you. Some of them are going to be junk ass games for people that like junk ass games on mobile. They're pretty protective of they're big franchises though, Like I mean ever since yeah, the company that put out Super Mario Sunshine, it's pretty protective about their franchise. Yes, that Classic games. Jesus, It's like you're not going to see like some shitty Zelda game like the you know, they're very protective of those big franchise. Yeah, I think that. Yeah, I bet that they placed their bigger, their riskier games end up on lesser ips. Yeah, you know, like, yeah, they might not put Zelda out there, but like they've they've done weird ship with Metroid and star Fucks, even though I think those are two big names, Like they have been willing to do weird shit with that, like you know, at other end things like that. Yeah, yeah, but not with Mario and Zelda. Well, I mean, Mario Kart has been made by external developers. I mean, like the Core Mario series, including Sunshine. There's not going to be a Core, a Core anything on mobile, Okay, you know, like there'll be plenty of games with Mario. It'll be like Mario's Birthday Cake. Catch them's these birthday cakes are falling. You got to catch him, stand under the fucking things, catch him, and when you catch him, you can put the candles on if you want to buy better candles. There's links lanky lashers. I don't even know what that means both of these games. Uh yeah, I'm totally with you. Like familiar, familiar, top tier ips, but not like games that matter. Yeah, necessarily, you know, that's what I'm expecting, but it might still be fun time wasters. Sure. Yeah, I mean that's what all the big games mobile are. Yeah, you know, it's fine, and you know it's probably smart to expose, you know, the younger demographic that is coming up with these devices, and you know, it's like parents throwing their old phone at their kids because why bother raising them? Right, Uh, you know, it doesn't hurt to get them to see what a Mario is, because they might not otherwise. Yeah, do you guys think that maybe not necessarily the timing of this news, but the fact that they mentioned both the mobile stuff and the new console means they're kind of this is kind of the beginning of the end for the big push for the EU. I think was Zelda coming out this year. There's at least like that's like, no, that's what I mean, Like Zelda. I think that's like these kind of the beginning of the end, Like you could see them maybe not announcing a whole lot, more like huge franchise games for the WEEU. I want to say. There was an interview with Time that Awada did kind of after all this that talked a little bit more about some of the specifics but what it didn't really get into any NX territory. Yes, and oh yeah that article was like here like here's you know, yeah, it was that several interesting factoids, right, and it was sort of like, you know, we wouldn't have said anything about the NX, but we wanted to make sure that we were kind of calming it that no one was jumping to bad conclusions. That's what I took the timing of that announcement mainly just as like, hey, calm down, this is yeah, we're still making the stuff you want. That seems like the primary focus there. But like you know, if you're a consumer at this point, it's yeah, like, yeah, Zelda's going to come out, and I'm sure there'll be some some solid other you know obviously this year. Actually I think there's some you know, Splatoon, like there's stuff coming from the EU. But yeah, but yeah, you know, yeah like if Zelda, you know, by by this holiday, when Zelda comes out, that'll be three years into the U being on the market. Like that's probably past the halfway point for the EU. So what like the last two years of that system looked like, I mean, they still haven't had a traditional Mario well three World. The World was your Turn, Mario. I'm not saying there will be enough single player like like the follow up to Galaxy Too, basically, Like I love the hell out of three D World, but that was very much multiplayer, folks. Yeah, but there doesn't necessarily need to be another Galaxy like. They could very much of view that as like that exists on the Wii. Anything we do now is going to be, you know, kind of its own thing. I don't think they're gonna stop with the traditional like single player focused Mario thing. You know, I don't know that's been such a running thing for so long, but you could definitely play that three D World single player, though it's not quite as I mean, what you're really talking about is a Mario sixty four clone, Yeah, like the next successory in the Mario sixty four series. Yeah, yeah, sixty four time, fine Galaxy whatever's next? Ef that? Right? I think Galaxy three, I don't. I don't take it as a given that they will make one of those on the Wei year, like they very well may, but I'm not I'd like to see that, Like I wouldn't put money on it. Yeah it would be yeah, Yeah, it would be nice if they did, but you know, the way that thing's been going, I don't know, I'd like to see him get weird, you know, like if they're gonna be in this weird kind of lame duck situation where they've already like kind of tip their hand about you know, hey, we're thinking about a new platform, right, which doesn't necessarily mean it's shipping in two years, which would maybe be tragic, but I think that they're in they're probably in a position where the WEU needs some needs to be cut short. Maybe, Yeah, you know, I mean there's president another year. I mean it's it's early to say that, but I mean Microsoft did it with the first Xbox, like it's happened before. Yeah. Also, the three DS is older than the EU. You know, so both of their platforms are right either getting long in the tooth or not selling. Well. If they're gonna do anything that unifies those platforms, like it, you know, yeah, all right, what if it's called the new WU. It's a great idea, it's a terrific idea. It's a great terrific idea, and it's an iPhone. They just give it to you and go here, the new we one of The one of the little like snippets that came out of that Time article was that the new three DS almost shipped without the stable three D feature. Really just like kind of the biggest thing that thing offers. It's just the stick. Basically, it would have been the stick, and you know it's it's it's faster, the guts are faster, but like nobody's using that, and there's two extra shoulder buttons that nothing but apparently meaning it would have been a two D platform, or it would have had the old existing. It would have been the old three D without the stabilizing effect. That stabilizing thing doesn't work for that's terrible. I think it's fantastic. I think it works really well. Really it has been a nightmare for me. Yeah, like through like all of them door with that thing terms, I mean, if it if it loses track of your eyes, it does break. It seems to constantly lose track of my eye. I generally don't have much of a problem like just making Google eyes the entire time, right, I put with my eyes closed. That and the three d's not working at all, huh weird. But yeah, apparently like they had a final prototype and we're practically ready to go to manufacturing, and the Miamoto came in and said, fucking what are you doing, Like, like, what's the point of shipping this thing without this feature? I thought you were gonna I thought you were saying that they almost shipped it without three D at all. And that's actually a really would have been a really smart move. Just fucking get away from that ship. Yeah, it's it's hard to believe that they would pursue three D as a major tent pole. Yeah. Uh in the new hardware. But anyway, I guess that's kind of the state of the Nintendo union right now. Wait, I forgot the most important Nintendo story all right. Also, I believe coming out of that time interview with Iwata that Zelda TV show not accurate. Oh yeah, the NetFlow is the Netflix thing? Yes? That was? Was that Wall Street Journal I think reported that like a month or two ago. As of now, I have nothing new to share with you in regard to the use of rips for any TV shows or films, but I can at least confirm that the article in question is not based on correct information, says Iwata. So sorry, Dan, I don't give a shit, yep or should you don't care at all? That whole thing sounded really fishy. Yeah, that was yes, even if it were accurate, it seemed like it was ready to fall apart at any moment. I could have just been something that someone was pitching to Netflix without having the IP, right, you know, there could be there's probably some fact to it, but I don't even have a Netflix accounts I am. I never watched it. Always all the time, you do YU movies, all kinds of stuff, TV show, TV shows. Kimmy Schmidt was great, good. I like Tina PA's news show, right yeah, oh really it was a developer NBC, but they, you know, NBC, being smart, decided to give it to Netflix. Is it written by Tina Fey co created with her and the guy who created thirty Rock? There she her name is not, as far as I know, in any of the scripts, but it's thirty Rock yeah too. It's right up the same valley. So I'll check that out. Then on to last week's other pressing news. What PlayStation view that's the other pressing news, right, No, No, I was gonna try to sign up for that. I was gonna try to use a VPN tunnel to Chicago to sign up for it? What is it Chicago? While we're talking about TV and New York and New York. Yeah, nothing on the GETA. So I could watch wrestling on it, which would let me cancel all of my direct TV stuff. I'm still watched the one show I have DVR if not actually watch. Hey did you really really pay fifty bucks a month just to watch wrestling? I'm I'm currently paying three times that for direct TV service. I've done the main many times before, and and no all because I don't actually watch it that frequently, but you know, we do that wrestling podcast so occasionally have to catch up. Sure, Brad, it's better than the old days. And we had to pay fifty dollars a month for to watch it on cable and fifty dollars for the pay per view, so that's like one hundred dollars. That's horrendous. I spent tens of thousands of dollars to watch wrestling. That's terrible. There has to be a better way. Chord cutters, Yep, we're getting there. We are. I thought you subscribed to the ww network so they don't put their weekly television shows on there because they have to protect their TV deals. So it's like a thirty day window, so which is useless NAU plus you get it the next day, but then it's a ninety minute cut of the show. Yeah there, like they're about forty minutes of action that way. Yeah, ac, I haven't a table in I've never had cable since I moved out here twelve years ago. Fuck cable. All right, Well, you're cooler than all of us. No, I'm just saying it's a good way to be. Yeah, that's yeah. I mean that to reflect on my my character or anything. I'm just saying, you can live without it. It's better over here. That's how you reflect character than like Ted Kazinski would be the coolest guy ever. You know that guy could Like he doesn't even have a TV. Yeah, thatsn't not the Internet. I don't know. I'm just saying cable sucks. Probably he's a library the death penalty, I think, No, I think he's in. Yeah, they got him locked down somewhere. He's I think his roommate, not roommate, but I think he's in the same place as Oklahoma City bombers. Dead McVeigh was executed. Yeah, dead, Terry, what's the other guy's man ds. Yeah. Yeah, he's definitely belongs to Chris. Yeah, that dude is creepy as shit. All right, there's sure. There's your update on notable criminals from the nineties. Where's Bernard gets these days? Fully you knew. Hey, the other big story last week, which seems all but confirmed at this point, Hideo Kojima leaving Konami in a kind of like it's a very rounded fashion. Yeah. Yeah, this whole thing seems like like parsing. The sequence of events here is kind of complicated, and if you look at the way unfold it unfolded, it seems like a bad blood situation. Yes, absolutely, I guess the first thing people noticed was that his name started disappearing from various like metal Gear websites. Yeah, like the phrase a Hideo Kojima game was vanishing, like box art, like the box art that was out there, it disappeared off of that, like the Kajima Productions website started directing to some like generic metal gear. Say a site it said that Kajima Productions was changing its name to like Canal La Studio or something like that. Yeah, they launched a new metal Gear account at the same time. Also his last tweet from like two days before all this happened, was like something like heading out in a picture of a helicopter. It was just like one thing after another kind of helicopter? Was it? D Oh? All right, Okay, I'm not sure what it was. It was a screen shot from fan of Paine is development on the new metal gear mostly done holds out September one, So yeah that it's really it's real close, uh, you know, q ensuing shit storm on social media and such, at which point apparently the word Konami trended on Twitter for the first time ever. All right, yeah, like it was, you know, it was just a big old mess of like, well this is weird and so is this, and like all these things taken together look really weird and potentially hostile. Yeah, but nobody knows for sure what's going on. Oh with the other thing was somebody had found a bunch of Conami executive appointments to go into effect April first, and he was not listed, but it was no longer listed as an executive at the company. And then of course there's people wondering what the hell is going on because it's at April first, and this is kind of that's a tax here year. I don't know that it's a huge deal in pay in the same way I mean to be fair, all this ship well, like I looked at this stuff and at first I was like, that's exactly the kind of ham fisted smoking mirrors that he would think would be clever. Yeah, if he were trying to pull some like another jack move like remember movie Dick Studio joaquim Ogren. Yeah, remember all that shit A bunch of fucking dumb shit. Like it was so good, Biden, it was the most fun thing to cover. I loved that. You mean good in the sense that it was one hundred percent ineffectual. People talked about it. I actually talked about it, but I just wonder how many people they thought they were fooling. Yeah, Like it was one of those things that like, you know, it was it came and went and people are like, oh, what was that tailor? I don't know, some kind of new ip, and then like after the fact that you're like, oh, that was metal gear, Like all right, I think it was one of the funniest news stories of like recent years. I absolutely loved every second of that. The weird interview with Keily. It was just so dumb, like the pictures of like guys at the Canami party wearing Mobe Dick shirts just all the like the like that's where they sucked it up. The guys at the party wearing Moby Dick shirts like that was the thing, where like it was the after party for that show, and you were like, oh, it's just metal gear. Well, and the people figured out even earlier that, like, oh the Fano Paine logo, to put the font in there, it's clearly metal reci halfway through the trailer, I was watching him crawl around on the floor and he had an eye patch and I was like, that's snake right, and the hair and everything like it seemed blatantly fucking obvious. Anyway, whatever, I still I love it. It was the most unless you're trying to argue that they went into this or went into that campaign not intending to fool anybody, just to fuck around. But I feel like that's giving them too much. Credits bandages all over his face, they couldn't think that. People were like, actually gonna think this is how they look at the game. Maybe he didn't have an eye patch, but I just think, remember, no, no, not that I'm talking about the interview with Keely. Yeah, it is all over space. Well that was at the point we were like, how does I mean, why is Keieley playing into this? What is that's crazy? Yeah, you know, he's got his own brands to maintain. True, he's got to get in there and mix it up. Man. Anyway, like all that stuff happened, and it seemed like, uh like it was, you know, all but a done deal. Uh. And then game Spot ran a story They've got a source. Then they felt quite confident in reporting that it was in fact happening and that he's leaving the company in December. Then you went over there and talk to them. I stood up and walked over there and said, how solid is your source on this thing? And they kind of nodded and said, yeah, it's good and that's it. Yeah. So yeah, that makes it sound like that, Yeah, some of these some of the top Kajima people, uh, you know, would be out of there before the end of this year, yes, or something along those lines. Yeah. Still not like one hundred percent confirmation from anybody saying yes, this is happening, but they did put out a statement. Finally, Konami did with a bunch of typical pr speaking. Yeah, So the latest title in the medic Gear series will be released as planned, but it's to our customers. Yes, yes, addressed to two customers, thank you for your continued patronage of Konami products and services, and then they say, you know, yes, the latest title will be out in all these territories on September two. Hideo Kojima will remain involved throughout. Kojima stated, I want to reassure fans that I'm one hundred percent involved and will continue working on Medal Your Style at five. I'm determined to make it the greatest game I've directed to date. Don't miss it. Uh. In addition, Konami will continue to develop and distribute top quality content in the Medal Gear series following the Phantom Pain as the next Steven series. Konami has already resolved developed new Medal Gear. We will be conducting interviews for main staff to lead the development. So I guess there's your confirmation. Yeah, that's about as confirmed as it probably needs to be, right there. Also, who's gonna make a new medic Gear game? Like that's super weird turned into a reality show? Drew Scan Yeah, he's a specific He's got a lot of other games to finish. First, then Umber. He's been there for thirty years now or something like that. I mean first Metal Gear came out, and like what eighty eighty seven, seven thereabouts, close to thirty years. People get tired, you know, I mean he's you know, it's certainly not the you know, he has said over the years that he wants games to be his last Metal Gear game and stuff like that. He's starting with two, starting with two, yeah, exactly. You know, almost fifteen years of saying he was almost done with metal Gear. Yeah, yeah, which is you know, it's been longer, like about as long as I've been saying I've been done with metal Gear. At this point, he kind of has to be. He would have to be done with it without it just getting super fucking contrived. Because yeah, if you look at the timeline, like he's gone everything, he's done basically covered everything from the origin of Big Boss too, end of Solid Snakes arc. That's why they're filling on like five, is filling in that last little gap in the entire continuity. Yeah, I think that point, what else do you do? I would be way more bummed if there was still more story to tell, Like I mean, if they never followed up on what happened at the end of two, I would be just super pissed off about that. Oh you can that they've already told too much story. I think, like he said, they've got the whole arc, there's there's no more story to tell. There no more gaps to fill in. You know, four capped off everything in the future stuff, So you know what, five looks incredible. I'm happy to be getting one more realized Metal Gear game out of it, So I'm not like crazy bummed out about it, and I'll just see whatever the Fuckjam is working on next. Yeah, I'm count me in. Yeah, it's yeah. This. You wonder like what Kojima's involvement in the last couple of Metal Gear games has been, uh, you know, with with him kind of constantly talking about wanting to check out of it. Yep, at some point did he you wonder you know, like we would be we were not there for development, So it does, but no, we were not. That guy wants to make movies a bit. He's always been the guy who did all the crazy cut scenes. I bet he. I bet he goes to make The thing is, though, is like if you think about the scale he tends to operate at in video games, like he could get someone to fund a new video game studio, like probably relatively quickly, depending on his reputation from you know, like you know what what people think of of his input, and then then that sort of stuff. Going to the world of films and trying to make something at that scope, He's not no one's no one's going to give him that amount him Yea, Like he's he's he's a little fish in a much bigger pond at that point. Yeah, so it's like something cgi you never know. Yeah, I'm not saying he couldn't put something together, but like he's not gonna get like a immediately get a freaking summer blockbuster bankrolled. He's not gonna go like Key for Sutherland. I've got this idea right right, Like, he's not gonnabody's gonna give him a hundred fifty million dollars to make a a giant tent pole movie. I'd watch a new season of twenty four directed by Hideo Kajima. I bet that would be really good. I bet that'd be a god damn nightmare. That would be amazing. Twenty four is awesome, Kajima is awesome, similar style, that would be incredible. Halfway through the season, you have to start like watching the show with an infrared like sure filment on or something to see other stuffy watch these episodes in black and white if you want to see the hidden message. You know, it's like ghost images. Yeah, yeah, it's you know, like, I think there are a lot of different directions that everyone could go in at this point for for this stuff, assuming all this is true, which it seems seems likely for me. The thing is is like what is Konami. Konami has reached that point where like Rare and like Sega, where people are like, oh man, they make all these games. I wish they would make more of these. It's like, well, it's not necessarily the same people. I lave its metal gear. You could say like, well, that's that's the same guy, sure, you know, for better or worse, Like he's he's still that guy. But Knami is shipping like two console games this year. It's like that and soccer. Yeah, yeah, you know, and at that at this rate, you know, they make more mobile games than they make console games at this stage. And then they've been slowly creeping out of the console business for quite a while. Now. Remember they're booth aty three last year. No, it was just dude, holy shit. It was literally like you know, they have to reserve their floor space. Oh right, It was just the box, no way in It was a giant red carpet with a very small little like structure in the middle where you could go see the metal Gear demo, right yeah, and nothing else. Yeah, and I think like a couple of kiosks with soccer on the sea. Yeah. I feel like there are three pillars in recent years have been metal Gear, Soccer, and Castlevania. And it seems like Castlevania is kind of not really run its course for sure. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, you know they're not They're not in the video game business like strictly. You know. They have a lot of gambling stuff, they have their health club stuff, like you know, Konami is diversified in a way that it doesn't make sense for them to be in the video game business the way they used to be, cranking out contra games that no one fucking wants. As much as I love that they keep attempting to make a modern contra game and never quite getting it right. Shadow shoulders, all right, it's all right, right, Neo Contra plays better than it should It's not great, it's not contracus. What do you even do with a new contract? Yeah, I mean clearly. You know some things are better left in the past. Yeah, definitely. And you know, the Castle Vania series did what it did. They made their attempt at trying to make it a different thing that might be more appealing. It looked like it was going to work though that first Lords A Shadow I think is a great game, and then I didn't like the three DS one that afforded and then Largest Shadow two. I just heard it was terrible. Nobody likes that. Yeah, I don't like. I don't like the first one. Didn't like the first one. No, non, did you get past? Like the early hours people really didn't like. But like as it gets it was it was it was too many hours for me. Yeah. I got into the second chapter somewhere and I was just like, I, no, thank you, it's so much better. They put out PT and that was kind of amazing just for what it was like the very nature of that thing was super surprising. But whether actual Silent Hills bears any resemblance to pt whatsoever, or whether Silent Hills even exists. Well, it sounds like that. That was one of the other things that came out of Game Spot was the notion that, like the Sound Hills stuff is a Konami deal with Del Toro, and Kojima is not necessarily involved with that, but directly enough to totally kill that problem. That maybe. But also if this is like well I was gonna say, if this is indicative of them just moving away from video games, that could imperil that project. Sure, but you know, they're also saying yes, we'll make more metal gears, so they're canning like big game development. I think that, you know, like saying yes we'll make more metal gear is like the most obvious thing you state at this point in time, or what form next metal gear takes is like that's the part where you go, like, jeez, I bet they are licking their shops at the idea of getting somebody to make a metal gear who could like keep the budget under control better and make one every two years or right. You know, it's like somebody they could get to crank the games out without like spending a ton of money on them, and yeah, of course, who knows how long that'll go before people don't want that anymore. You can't sacrifice the integrity of that story. Yeah, seriously, that would piss me off. I can't sacrifice something. Yeah, you need to fucking put more branded Japanese food products in it to keep the integrity up. Snake gets hungry on the battlefield, yeah, reach for a bag of Dorito's Snake. Could integrity bloom on the battlefield? I think? Yeah? I mean at this point, you know, if I was if I was gonna probably like if I was going to direct a crew at Konami on new metal Gear, I would say I remake metal Gear one and two and then let's fucking wrap it up. Yeah. I don't even know at this point. Yeah, who knows. Let's put a metal Gear on a slot machine. He needs to do something else on metal Gear needs to do something else. That Delta what was that one he was working on with the THQ They got canceled? Same, that's what it was. Yeah, that's right, Yeah, I could remember the name. Yeah that's dead yep. Well yeah, did capital duh. We talked about the Extra Crazy Frisbee remasters coming out. Yeah, uh. And then the only other story on time to the God of War three announcement to the ten year anniversary God War, which I think makes makes a lot of sense that one. I mean, you know, it's still a remaster, but they're at least guaranteeing it'll be ten a EP and they're adding a photo mode like they're kind of seems like they're putting some work into that. Interest in Sony is up. So there may be people that bought a PS four that never had a PS three. That's fair, and you know, that's a that's a well regarded game that maybe some PS four owners haven't played. Maybe God what if this is just paving the way for another God a four announcement? Oh, I mean like a new one. I mean that's I expect that that's exactly where they're headed with all this stuff. Like that's I agree with you on the noise and everything that that's like maybe the least appealing sounding thing in the world. What if it wasn't Creatos, what if it was a New World anything. I don't want a character action game out of Santa Monica Studio. Like it's like, I'm with you, I'm with you, but every little thing they could do to differentiate. It would be like one more like point in its favor, like as far as they can move away from those games, because like Kreatos stuff. Speaking of things that I run, their course, the Creatos games, the Creatos games, everyone's favorite sporting competition. Uh. The only other thing I've got is that some Mortal Kombat X stuff has been announced. Yeah, they leaked and then they had to announce it. Well, so what late late Friday they said, all right, fine, here are the details of our season pass. Well, so I didn't even know about that stuff. The thing I wanted to mention was actually to follow up on something we had on here a few months ago, which was uh front of the site actually boy from Naughty Dogs having coded that little open source driver for PS three fight sticks to work on PS four. Uh, and it looks like Moral Kombat X is going to be the first like big, mainstream sixty dollars fighting game to use that thing. Yeah, yeah, so PS three sticks on your PS four for that one. Yeah, that's cool. It's it's a it's a neat little like I you know, they did that. It was like, wow, nobody ever does things like that. That's really cool. Like that's like weird free open source software philosophy bleeding into your console development. That's a strange thing. I don't know if the driver itself is not necessarily open source. It's available for people to use it, it's it's it's free, okay, alright, checks, well, I don't think they're paying on it. I just I'm like, you're saying it's free, but I don't think that means it's open source. It is, so like we could go look at the code right now because it's open Okay. I checked. I checked with the CEO of Lab zero, all right, that company that makes skull over well and who co developed the driver. Yeah okay, but yeah, like cause I feel like the wording when another realm confirmed it was that they licensed it, which so I guess it with open sources used to the license. Yeah anyway. Yes, I may be talking out my ass here, but but my understanding it is it even with stuff like the GPL, like you're still quote unquote licensing something even though you're not paying for it. Yeah, okay. The main thing is that, like most open source software, they want any changes that another RELM makes to that driver, they want shared back pushing back up back with the community. So like, that's a cool, feel good thing for all the you know, there's got to be a lot of PS three fight sticks out there. I thought it was cool, cool to see that make it into a big, you know, like on disc fighting game like this, now that a bunch of those are coming out again. So what other stuff did they announce? So like late Friday, Like, so, I guess there was some Xbox Live market place language for the like premium. Did they whatever version of the game comes with the season pass? Oh, yeah, there was a leak there was. They're in there. It said you'll be able to play as Jason Voorhees, the Predator, and two classic combatants. So they hadn't announced pred Her yet. Uh And then so I guess they just came out and said here, fine, fine, here. The other two characters are Tremor and Tanya, who exactly classic combatants from the Tremor is a gray ninja that is into earthquake green he's into earthquakes. I mean, he's a ninja of this into earthquakes. I'm sorry they already had gray and green ninjas. He's a ninja that's into Earthquake's brown. I don't know, Brad. Have you seen a female ninja that wears yellow? No? Yeah, Tanya has been in. Tanya was in the last season Deception Armageddon, probably named after ed Boone's sister. And then some skin stuff that would be coming with those packs. To kind of round it out. They did four DLC characters for nine right. Also they did yeah, so it's the same same type deal of here's the season pass and uh, four characters with it. The thing they did with Injustice is they sold out, They sold through their season pass and then did like more characters. I think they would did like a season two former characters or whatever it was, because people were digging on Injustice. Yes, they're gonna make another one of those. Yeah, all right, there you have it. Well the comics are still going on, so yeah, I think it's good for you. I believe that may have been a scoop on the Comic Vine podcast. I need to go to listen. But they had someone involved with the comics who just kind of said, like real casually, like yeah, then we're gonna another game, Like so, I think they need a break between Mortal Kombat games. I don't think they should make them back to back all the time. They shouldn't, but they should make w w E Immortals in that in that window instead, like another realm ships get a big game every two years, do you want to every other April? Do you want a wrestling game that's just a traditional two D fighter? Though? Yes? Really because wrestling games play like shit, I know, but the characters and the moves they can do are fun and interesting, especially when you take them into a fantastical extreme, like you really want the immortals universe really want them, just like jumping screen heights and totally doing up cut Er Brocklesner, throwing guys through buildings. Yeah, like their individual fighting styles is how they wrestle, like adapted as you can. But fucking whatever, take liberties because like wrestling games are fucking terrible, that's fine. You would you rather have that than somebody to come along and actually make a really good, functional wrestling game. I don't think it's possible. I think what you're asking is is literally not possible. Nothing is impossible, just if you believe that's the spirit. Yeah, No, it's easier for me to get an issue a bunch of shitty platitudes because I don't give a fuck about wrestling games. There you go, but they could do anything. But hey, if those weird characters we're in a fighting game, wouldn't you at least take a look at it. I don't know, Maybe you'd be just as likely as if, like someone said, hey, we're putting comic book characters in a fighting game. Maybe it's kind of a zero something. I guess, you know, the wrestling audience is, how would it comparing size to the comic book audience. I would guess that comic books bigger in the modern day era of comic book movies comics or zillions movies are The audience for comic book like for superheroes at this point, is just like the world. So in that sense that's a good point. But actual comic books, but I don't know about comic book like readers only people who avidly buy issues of comic books. I can't. I think, like a really big number one does about five hundred thousand, like a Spider Man number one kind of stuff, So it's not as big as it used to be, but it's still sizable. But again, you know, people who are not that invested in the actual books would still look at a game. Yeah, I need to go. Someone someone pointed that comic fine thing out to me. I haven't actually heard it from myself, but that's what I was led to believe was said. So I love when creatives from other industries who have a bunch of clout just out things like that, And what's gonna happen to them? You know? Yeah, it's like, yeah, they're a big famous comic book writer. You can't like, It's not like you're going to pull them off the project for saying something they shouldn't have. Yeah, and it seemed like that was probably the most likely move for them anyway. Yeah, sure, I mean they did Injustice did all right? Right, it seems like it did. Yeah, it was a cool game. Also, you know, they're all one big happy family at this point, like another REALM and DC are all part of the same company now, so that totally makes sense. All right, let's move on the emails. Unless anybody's got any news in mind that I missed going once. All right, that's all you get, emails, bobcast at giant bomb dot com. Send them there. First email comes in from Khalim, I think is how to say that in Australia wants to know if the next gender of consoles has been spoiled. I have a question for you all. With last gen only lasting around eight to nine years and people predicting this gen only to last six to seven, I feel that with the end of this generation already in sight, and knowing that we only have an estimated five years left with these consoles, I can't fully enjoy them as much as I did with the three sixty. Do any of you feel the same way about this? It's a silly thing. Yeah, I don't know. Yeah, I guess there's no way to predict how long these things are gonna last. But and why would it Mattern't they get it? I mean, if you haven't bought in already, I guess I could see maybe looking at it and going like, well, they're almost two years old. That's almost halfway through a five year cycle. Maybe I shouldn't We're not on a five year cycle any Yeah, probably not. You know like that, no one can afford to do the R and D and you know, the launches, and you know like that that stuff just so is so expensive that you know it's it's the five year cycle I think is largely dead. Probably You're probably right. At the same time, you know, like the just the horsepower that these things have or don't have, right is a little bit concerning. Yeah, that's the larger issue is if it is a five year cycle, it's because they had to get cut off because they topped out and people went right, Like, you know, it's maybe not the best example that like run around in blood Borne yesterday and in a certain area like this is not a huge problem. But I kind of walked into an area and all of a sudden, just like a whole layer of detail just popped into a few like thirty feet in front of my character, an unreal engine or something. I guess, yeah, like I don't know, Just like it seems like there are already some concessions being made here and there. There's no telling though, if stuff like Morpheus could be a shot in the arm for PS four. Yeah, sure, there's you know, there's all kinds of stuff that could. Still. The thing that we've been hearing time and time again though, is that VR is one of those things that is very demanding on the hardware driving, right, So what are those morpheous games gonna look like if they suddenly have to hit their frame rate like that's that's then they get to a point where if your frame rate is all over the place, you got people throwing up. Well, and then you've got the speculation though of like you know, the extra box or whatever powering the morphous like who knows. Again, there's just so many questions going forward, Like I think it's way too early to be saying like, oh, you know, fuck this generation and condy, yeah you're right about yeah. Yeah. Also, I think I feel like not many people have brought up with the Morpheus is like the whole sort of thirty two X conundrum, right of like here's just just split your user base and now you all that whole thing is if if you are like including a box that gives developers more hardware, that's a problem. Well even even if that's not there, the headset alone makes it so that those games basically only if they're designed right, should only work with the headset. You'd like to think so, but I bet we'll get a lot of games that will be played either way. Oh right, Like every first person shooter just ships with Morpheus support, like they all had move support last generation. That's I think that's distinctly possible. Oh that's a nightmare scenario, you know, I think that's that's there's definitely a possibility. You would hope that they would be more tailored to the hardware. I think for VR to work, they absolutely have to be. But you know, I think that that's one of those things where like the best case for something like Morpheus, or one of the one of the better cases or something like Morpheus is it continues the streak that Sony has had of getting these games that have been big on PC. So these games that are getting developed specifically for the VR headsets that you know, Valve's making the Oculus that sort of stuff that then people go like, well, we're gonna pour this to the PS four and because they can, and because they'll want to put that game every where they can to make as much money as possible. Sure, future is very uncertain. Yeah, but it's like, you know, first party development on the Sony platforms has been lackluster for their default full user base. You know, what what are they going to do to port this split one? You know, like the launch with some stuff, But yeah, I don't know that stuffs super crazy. Maybe they've got a lot of their talent working on Morphia stuff already. Maybe maybe that's why their first party's output has been black luster and they placed some bad bets because they haven't shored up their main stuff. Yeah you know, Yeah, you're right, you're right. We will see uh Jack from the UK right soon. To ask escort or tail it's not quite assorted as you might think, Hey, bomb cast, what is worse escort missions or tailing missions? Escorts can be more annoying when the AI sucks so much you think it is active, actually actively working against you. But tailing missions are just unfathomably boring, especially back when it just came down to balancing a bar between too close and too far. I dislike following missions quite a bit. Yeah, tailing is worse. Yeah, score, at least you can fight sometimes. Yeah, I mean, bad escort missions are the most infuriating thing in the history video games. But they don't have to be bad. Whereas like, I don't think there's anything redeeming about a tailing mission whatsoever. No, Like, I don't think of one good example. Like the best they can do with something like that is like fill it full of exposition, so at least you're listening to something interesting along the way. GTA does that pretty well. YEAHS does not. For the most part, GTA is a rare example of a game that's actually like, it's actually entertaining to drive around slowly and listen to dialogue coming out of though sometimes you end up in cases where, like you know, GTA was one of the worst offenders in terms of like the cars round at a corner and you're pulling up to a stop sign and it counts that as too close though, because you're kind of it's it's straight line instead of line of sight, and have you fail out that way sucks. Just don't make tailing missions. Far Cry four wasn't terrible about it because you could just get in that little gyrocopter thing and it was just super easy to follow people and stay at a reasonable thing and not have to fuck around with traffic. Those had no fail state. Sorry this you just fucking shoot them. Yeah, there are ones where you just had to tail. We had to tail them until they got to like someplace and then I could go down. But if they saw you, it didn't end the mission. It was just like they just started driving crazier. Yeah, were there none that failed? I think there's only the one tailing mission in that whole game, right, all this side stuff. I think I did some side ones, did it? Yeah, but I remember like not hating them where its like in GTA or any game I hate tailing. Yeah, say that were the one where it's like the guy's going to the cave and you gotta fucking kill him and all his buddies and getting like the key or whatever whatever the fuck you're getting. Yeah, yeah, like that one. He just saw me immediately and I was like, all right, I'd be still drove to the same spot. It just meant that when they got there, everyone was trying to shoot me, and I said, well fine and shot them all. It seems like a good way to do that. Yeah. Yeah, that's fark right to me. Yeah. I need to finish the game. It's a really good game. Yeah, I don't know why I stopped playing it. I like this email quite a bit. This is from Mustletoe. Hey, BombCast crew, This is Busto messaging from the Far East, Tokyo. Did it today? I found crazy news I think you'd like to hear. Burger King Japan decided to offer b K perfume because April first is now Whopper Day in Japan. They decided to sell this five thousand yen fragrance on this special day. I love this level of craziness. Five thousand yen. Would you like to purchase this fragrance if you could order it from the US. It seems this is Japan exclusive so far. Oh Burger King is also selling a Whopper pass. You can order a whopper. You can order a whopper meal deal for thirty days. This is also five thousand yen. Okay, the meal for Whoppers here in Japan is eight hundred and forty yen. So if you love having whoppers, it seems a good deal. That seems like a great deal. Well, I don't have any game related news other than my first gen PS three died a while ago, and I love Final Fantasy four, five and six. Keep up the great work. Would you buy the would you buy the Whopper? Well, it doesn't say specifically Whopper perfume, but would you buy the BK perfume or the Whopper Pass? Do they have a chicken fry flavor of the perfume doesn't go into that would be the deal breaker. The email does not go into into detail. I would do French fress. I had it picks. I mean, the perfume has smell like French fries. Just to like stand in a burger king for five minutes, put one fry down your shirt, it all over your next I mean the burger king. The burger king perfume has to be like, oh, de flame kissed, right, Yeah, probably that's the flame broiled whopper smell gross, the smell of meat on a grill. Also, fifty bucks is a bad price to pay for perfume. Yeah, m well, well, I mean it's pretty cheap. Yeah, it's pretty cheap, but but really like five thousand end is roughly Oh but I mask I have no idea how it's perfume or oh yeah, yeah a lot. You can spend way more than that on alone super Dune soap. It smell fine. Who would eat a whopper every day for thirty days? Morgan Spurlock. Yeah, m hmm, I think he's done with that. I don't know that I would eat a whopper every day for thirty days, but that's that seems to be what this is. Fifty bucks? Well, I would setting aside exchange rate fifty bucks, you know, five thousand end yea yeah, I only go to Burger thirty days. I only be Burger King when they have like a gimmick item that I like a lot, Like. I never go there for just the standard burger and fries, but chicken fries absolutely. And they had these mac and cheese bites for a while that I got like almost nightly. Chicken fries are a scam. What are you talking about? It's like it's mostly it's the same like popcorn chicken A KFC is also a scam. There's barely any chicken in there, like you barely, there's barely any flavor to that stuff. Chicken fries is, yeah, chicken fries. It's like a thin, thin, little round little layer of chicken running through it. You barely even get to taste, with a ton of great breading and you can dip it in all sorts of fun sauces and the fries fit right in there. I would much. I would just get the chicken nuggets. Those are great too, Those are great. Yeah, fries are better. Just no, no fries are good. Chicken's good. Chicken chicken and fried form better. They're not even related, Like the chicken fries are not there. I mean their fries shaped, but like I'm in a thing and they stick up like fries. They don't replace French fries. You get both, you get both in the same meal. No, man, I get fries and chickennuggets because they're more substantial and they're better fast food talk. There you have it. I want to say they had ten piece chicken nuggets for like a dollar thirty or something too, which is like criminals, terrific good. I wouldn't want to think about what I was getting for that price. Full. They had to cut somewhere full. You guys have a triple steak stack yet, No, I got I had it last time they had it. That's the first time, didn't it. No, the giant flat right thing, all the meat. Really I had a Saturday and Sunday and pretty incredible. Yeah, it's pretty awesome. Yeah, it's a nightmarishly large food item. Yeah, Taco Bell. It's like a five dollars and twenty cent Taco Bell item, which should tell you a lot. You can get like fourteen items, like fourteen normal items for that. It's it's a fucking hellacious Yeah, It'll do a number on you. It's so good. I saw that picture you post on Twitter. Good thank you really know it's about that. Thank you? Well, it looks bad about that. I don't need to go into detail it. I mean, like your your photography. I'm gonna say like, it looked kind of slow. He looked pretty fucked up. I was looking. I was looking at it and thought like, I haven't eaten a scriveled stick take a long time, but this one doesn't look right to me. See. I looked at that and like, as soon as I've done eating the first one, I was like, yeah, I want to eat that again. And when I see that picture, more power too. One time. I ate three of them really in one sitting. That's cool. It felt pretty cool afterwards. Let me tell you, Yeah, I bet it did. Yeah, all right, let's move on to the next email from Michael. He writes it in about DMC two. Hey guys, it wasn't reported on much, but Ninja Theory changed the ending to Devil May Cry Definitive edition after the last fight. Instead of showing a close up of Dante's demon like eyes, alluding to a sequel, the new Definitive It ending just shows Dante walking away from the camera with his arm around cat. Do you think this change was deliberate symbolism to show that Ninja Theory themselves are walking away from the franchise. Why else change the ending controverse statement here On his part, it's a shame that the change for his sistant shut ins weren't able to look over a costume swap to see a truly brilliant and necessary reboot. He's got clips here. Yeah, they got out there saying they made some other changes to just some some stuff that they There was one of the cut scenes where it's like you're gonna make the world your bitch, and then the follow up from the like the woman in the scene is like just like me or you know, whatever it is. I didn't know that some kind of like lame sounding sexy talk that they cut, and I guess the word out of Ninja Theory was they were just like, yeah, we revisited all that stuff and we you know, some of it was just kind of lame, so we changed it. Sure. Well, the shot in particular that he's talking about, like when I saw it when I finished the game, like could not have come off more as a like police stay tuned for the sequel. Yeah, yeah, type thing. But of course you do that not knowing how the game's going to do. You're talking about the original demonized thing? Yes, okay, just the way, yes, the way he you know, so they took that part out. Yeah. So it's like the end of the Mario Brothers movie when Peach just comes in and says, you guys aren't gonna believe what I found, and then they didn't make that movie. Uh you know, a portal to subcon is what she found? Yeah, subconom is that what they called the mushroom Kingdom in that now, that's what they called the Land of Super Mario Brothers too. Oh right right now? Subcon, dude, Subcon. It's a dream exist. That's not in the cannon. It's a dream. Subcon absolutely exists. Uh yeah, they didn't exactly get that there in Vallely who the sales numbers of that thing not at all hard to believe that another one is not in production. I would like that the first one is great. It's a good game. Seems like an extremely polarizing product that was quite fond of it. Ryan from Austin, Texas writes in about the Dreamcast finally and how it's a terrible name. Yeah, wouldn't Dreamcast or dream Catcher be better. Shouldn't it be camel case dream Catcher with the uppercasec. Actually that's not a good idea at all. Maybe I'm a bit late to the party, but I put this email in because I remember fuck hating the Dreamcast name for about twenty four hours and then never thinking of it again. Yeah, it's one of those things that, like, in this line of work, you have to say the name of console, the names of consoles a lot, yes, and just in I feel like by virtue of how we'd like, you know, you get over that fast because you're just you have to convey that information and you don't have time to fucking do the full eye roll. And every time you say the game name, the console name, so you just fucking get on with it. At some point it just becomes a symbol. Yeah, for the thing, it seemed like the Wei was going to take forever to get used to it. The first time you heard WE, I thought we was a worse name than Yeah, But I thought I thought we recast. I thought as time went on, I was fine with WE. I never became fine with WE. You like, that was a bad idea for all kinds of yeah exactly, like you get confused the audience and like it. You know, it kind of recalled a system that had very little to do with this thing, you know, like yeah, yeah, but no, I think just the first we I think in retrospect, that wasn't a terrible name for the system. Now at the time that you know, everybody was calling it revolution and stuff fat so like it was kind of a just like a violent about face. Yeah yeah, when you announced that they announced the name of the platform, you weren't necessarily sure what the platform itself was. So you know you're used to like revolutionary, Well, it's gonna be fucking tough, man, fucking I'm gonna play Revolution X on my fucking Wei. Had they not shown the motion control, like because they showed the we mote, I want to say it was still the Revolution when they showed the controller. It might be right, that's you might be right, that's what I think. But I think like the softness, the relative softness of the Wii was not a parent until you spent a lot of time with one and you were like, this is like for kids, parents and stuff. This is like it's it's for everyone. It's not like my edgy video game console. So I remember sitting in a hotel room in Sheba the night before they showed the we controller for the first time, and we had gotten a hold of the assets, just looking at that thing, going like what the fuck? Yeah, what are they doing? Yeah? The rest was history. Those are the only Twamcatcher made all those adventure games, or DreamCatcher as a publisher, so that name was already taken. Sure. I was not taking a suggestion, seriously. It's more just I was trying to think of other names that have really rubbed me wrong, and I can't think of many. Dreamcast should not have been camel Case by the way, No, I'm with you. It was fine the way it was. It turns out the name was all right too. Yeah. I think, yeah, that was the darl End development. Wasn't it was paid the hardware, wasn't it. I thought I thought Darrall was Model three. I thought Dre always Dreamcast. No, I thought Katana was Dreamcast Water. Sure Katana wasn't Saturn. I think Katana saturned Darl's Dreamcast. Whatever I've lost it was interested in this conversation. Yep, star Road, star Cube still waiting for that ship. Yeah, next to the Star Road connected the Star Road places with Mario Karts. To imagine if the fucking the menu was just the fucking Super Mario World Star Road, that'd be so good, and each a little point in the star was like Friends lists and fucking such a wasted opportunity. Man, fucking game Cube. I should let us run Nintendo handle on it, turn out places around. Brandon writes in about Final Fantasy ten two. Oh cool, Hey guys, Brandon from Colorado here. I'm a huge Final Fantasy fan and loved Final Fantasy ten but hated ten two. Yeah, I bet I can't. I can't imagine why anyone would dislike ten two. I love hearing the rants by Brett as I too hate it with a passion. Ten was a fantastic game, great battle system, the sphere grid was a nice change, and the tactics you could employ in combat and made that game. Yes, titis is a bitch and arguably the worst part of that game, but the overall experience overshadows that. Brett's hate of this game really makes me feel justified in my opinion of it. Yeah, keep going, all right, Brett here, just want to let you know I stand with you in solidarity. That game is a fucking those fucking stand on the fucking back platform and yell for fucking Ricco to stop the fucking pistons. See you get a bunch of dumb shit. It's glad that Brent is finally weighed in on this contentious topic. Oh boy, that game. That game continues to like discuss at every turn, and also like the more I see of it, both of us, my girlfriend and I and she's playing it, and it's just like, fuck this, why not just stop? I don't know why. Don't wait till the PS four version comes out and switch over that one. Now start from the beginning. No, too late for that. I've got a p S three and APS four hooked up at the same time. It's time to unhook one of those. I just rehooked one to play Metal or two and three again. So yeah, I've got both. Stupid. I don't have any more issue in my reports. I can't get a splitter. Too many consoles. I've got a my my, Yeah, you get a splitter. I'm already going through a receiver like I don't feel like juggling multiple switch boxes all my receiver. I've got so The one thing I did to save one is I still run my TV through the Xbox one, my my direkt TV box. But I have a WEU, an Xbox one, a PS four, and a PS three hooked up, and I think I still have one Hdmi free I've got so there. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I've got Xbox one, PS four, three sixty PC we U and an Apple TV that's six in my receiver. That's all I got. Yeah, I have a three sixty hooked up in my living room and that's what I used for this Borderland's two fucking chicanery. Yes. Uh. Chris from Illinois writes in about boss gamer tags, Hey duds, Having grown up in the nineties and two thousands, I'm sure you had some awesome gamer tags, email addresses, and or screen names. Can you share your personal bests with us? Uh? Knowing that Rory, what's gonna be on the podcast today? I pulled this one specifically. Do you still use Millard Kilmore? I do. That was actually from love that. That was from an old man Mary story a while back, revolutionary I think, oh god, what was it ho chee low ping Bastard or something like that. They had a whole list of like, you know, revolutionary people or political people with with with quake, Yeah, that kind of stuff. So did I always have anything to do with the fiery head of Martin van Buren? I don't know. It was probably it's been so long. Old Man Murray is still up, is it really? Yeah? You can't play Final Fights Fatigo anymore though, No. They that site went was down for like a few years, and I think they finally put it back up. People. Yeah, if you're a fan of Portal, go read with that, dude wrote, Old Man Murray is still the best website ever created. It's so good, pretty fantastic. It's probably still good now, but at the time it holy shit. Yeah, great review system, all that kind of stuff. It's still up. I recommend people. I don't know the exact name of the article I got that from, but uh yeah that was that was still use it good stuff. Uh. I plucked Rudeger from The Simpsons one point, which eventually morphed into rudds, which I still use all over the place. My friend has quijibo on. Uh wow, it's pretty good. What was Ruddiger from the Simpsons from self Help episode the Old One? I don't remembers died. I don't remember much more about it other than self help guy coming through town. It was the nineties. Yeah, anybody else, I'm reaching this point where I just pump in my real name or just a bunch of random garbage, and I'm just I don't yeah, like, I could not care less what it is at this point. Anyway, uh Ron sends in a short and sweet note no capital letters or punctuation anywhere in this email, Captain Ron, subject line, bring back Matt Kessler, body, bring back Matt Kessler bigger and better things or Kesler. Now, yeah, I don't know that we even like, I don't know that we rate Kessler anymore. It's just got his own wiki page and everything. So yeah, yes, he's credited in video games. He's out there firing off business guns left and right. Is a big boy. Now, Yep, we weren't suit any day. Danny's weird. It was a Kessler scared of bananas. Yeah, he said he was like eating a ghost past that. Oh maybe not. I think they've they've been doing well over there. It's him stuff. He has eaten several kinds of fruit. At this point, I understand fruits good, Yeah, better vegetables. That's you know, they all have their first they all have their place. But yeah, I don't have vegetables belong in the garbage belongs in your goddamn mouth. Okay, that's valid. Uh like fun candy you can eat off of trees, It's true. It's a candy that comes right out of the ground. Yeah, fun candy. Yeah, normal candy is fun. Normal candy's not fun. Chocolate gets all over your hands. No, like Skittles and stuff like Skittles and Starburst. That's a better candy. All right. Okay, I don't know that we rate Kessler anymore. That's that's what I'll say. Uh, Like, I'm serious. He's got all the stuff going on. Oh yeah, he has other stuff on absolutely, Yeah that's yes, more important stuff in this nonsense. Yeah uh, Finn writes in asking about a possible bootleg series, Hi, Bombers, I would like to ask if you guys have ever tried any bootleg consoles like the poly Station or the PCP Station. If so, maybe you could tell us the worst one you've tried tried. I tried the PCP Station, and I took off all my clothes and ran into the street. I was messed up, he says. He called Doulamite had to come get me out. He says, maybe you got one and was huguely disappointed like me when I got Game Joy when I was twelve. Thanks mom. Uh yeah. Does the PCP station actually exists? Probably? Have you ever heard of that? Is that the one that's supposed to be like the PSP like they made the logo look like that baby that would Yeah, okay, I would, I would except to that is the reason that that exists. I ever really kept up on that stuff. It seems like, you know, a lot of stuff. There was just all the weird like multi cart yes any yes stuff back in the day, ammed into different weird shows and games, and one was like the infamous thing back in the inns days. But it seems like the bootleg stuff diversified a lot around the time of the PlayStation. Just all kinds of crazy stuff coming out of Asia. I guess if anybody's got any that stuff they want us to look at and they don't want it anymore, send it in. I guess. I don't know. Ah, yeah, I don't know. I don't really have any of that stuff. I would check it out. Josh sent in a correction finally, which I feel like we need to read because podcast ombudsman, Josh, we got it somewhat wrong last week. Listen here, bombardiers. You all are ignorant of how weird the City's lineage really is. City Skylines, Yeah, yeah, City Skylines has nothing to do with Cities XL or XXL. Cities XL was a sequel to a game called City Life. XL was developed and published by a company called Money Cristo that went bankrupt in twenty ten. Focus Home Interactive bought the XL franchise. Focus Home Interactive is famous for publishing twenty twelve hit Game of Thrones, nine yearly editions of pro Cycling Manager, and the Sherlock Holmes series, also the Insane Years of track Mania. City's Skylines was made by Colossal Order, who made the game Cities in Motion. Cities in Motion also has nothing to do with Cities Excel or any other series. Paradox Interactive publishes both City Skylines and Cities in Motion. Paradox is famous for developing and publishing games like Europa Universalist and Crusader Kings. They're also publishing Pillars of Fraternity, the only connection I can find between Skylines and Cities Xcel is that Paradox may have published city Life two thousand and eight edition in the US. I say may have, because city Life appears to have at least three different publishers, including Deep Silver in Germany. Suffice it to say, cities apparently can't be trademarked. I could have just skipped that last line, because that was the part that we did me out, like I thought everything could be trademarked at this point. It's one of the things that were super generic terms like that, you know, I guess, but like they have extra words on them as well. You know, it's never just called cities, right, But I assumed that the trademark always went back to kind of the root of the brand or whatever. I mean, you'd have got like Mojaying and Bethesta quibbling over the word scrolls, you know, Like I assumed that anything was fair game for trademarket. One of the things where it's like some of the stuff came from other countries and it's all weird here and no one really has the trademark here. Yeah, I don't know. Maybe maybe there's different situations, Like I was, I was shocked to find out that that stuff all wasn't under one trademark umbrella. Yeah, I was shocked to hear that paradox and focus on interactive We're gonna are not actually the same. Coun Sure it seemed like birds of a feather. Anonymous in San Francisco writes in to explain why Dan's dad can't play Mario Kart Wei anymore. Last episode, Dan mentioned that his dad expressed outrage at Nintendo for shutting down Mario Kart We's online servers because Mario Kart eight came out while the servers were shut down around that time. The reasoning is far more complex than and Toendo wants you to play the new Mario cart instead. You may have known about some of this. I remember hearing a little bit about this stuff. Mario Kart's server, along with every other online game for the WI and original ds, were run by Game Spy, who was owned by IGN until August twenty twelve, when IGN spun them out and sold the division to a free to play mobile game company called Glue Mobile. From what I've heard close to I'm sorry. From what I've heard from sources close to the matter, the purchase ended up being a poor one because all the good engineers jumped ship, either immediately before, during, or after the acquisition due to an internal power stargled GameSpy. Because of this, Glue needed a way to cut their costs, so they shut down the powered by GameSpy servers, which power thousands of online games. I think that was the thing I remember happening. Man that made headlines. Nintendo was willing to pay to keep the servers running, but no other companies were, and all the games were hosted on the same servers, with the exception of Arma two, which got its own servers because the day z mod was so popular it brought the rest of the system to its knees. This is in stark contrast to when IGN ran game Spy, when the VP once told me, when people stopped paying for our service, we usually just keep the servers up anyway, because it isn't worth the bad press to us. So Dan can now go back to his dad and explain that in this situation, Nintendo didn't no wrong. It was all made by businessmen who had no idea what they were taking away from people. I could give that explanation to him, but he would get confused. Two sentences in and then immediately stopped caring. All right, well but now I know, now you know, yeah, at least, you know, at least Nintendo comes out looking okay in this thing. Yeah matter where you were at GameSpy for a week and a half, yeah, yeah, five weeks, and we would get emails to the kind of generic webmaster at GameSpy dot com. People get really pissed off about games not working, servers not going up. God, were the editorial outlet and the and the online confusing. At that point, I GM sold GameSpy the server browser stuff to another company or yeah, that's the spun off or something, but they didn't. Nobody changed the name of either of the site or the other stuff because they obviously the site was always going to be GameSpy and the branding of the game, so I server stuff was all over every game. They had a little icon and everything like that. But yeah, it's it's like when people email the comic Vine address asking to buy comics or you know, asking for support on hot Dog Poker two for their iPhone, which I promptly give them because they think that Giant Pomp is a you know, video game publisher. We would get emails all the time to Game Informer asking us to make a new spy road the Dragon. Yeah, people do not know what websites are. No, a lot of people don't. Well, I mean we even get that here from time to time, very unfrequently. But I installed Unreal Tournament three over the weekend and it still has a like enter your GameSpy id and I was like, oh, is this not going to work at all? But they've just they've replaced whatever back end. I guess what a nightmare that that was in hundreds of games? Ye, so yeah, but no, they haven't been the same thing. I don't think I I think I g and sold them off like years ago, but they just kept on going in parallel. So really confusing. Good to know. Finally the truth is gonna be told. Aaron write Son about Evolve. It's been almost a month and a half since Evolve was released. In the Steam stats are showing that currently over currently only one thousand, two hundred and forty one people are playing right now? Is this game dead already? Is it just performing poorly on PC? Does anyone a giant ball still playing it? I remember Dan mentioning that he intended to keep playing it, but I didn't really hear anything about it on the BombCast since then. That isn't a low number of people. Yeah, it's very low. I played for a couple of weeks. Again, I kind of like, what's there. I don't love it, but yeah, I just didn't feel fall to keep going. And I think they announced like their next you know, tier of playable characters or something, I think last week. All right, I just I never managed to get a group of people together to play it. Well, it's only being played by like the most hardcore esports guys, so obviously, yeah, I mean it's it's turning my grade. Yeah, yes, I just you know, Yeah, I liked it. It's not bad, but I could never managed to get for their people together to play it. I saw one person on APS four friends list playing it yesterday and actually did a little bit of a double take. I was like, whoa, I haven't seen that in like a month. Yeah, it's kind of unfortunate. I mean, it's it's a it's an interesting idea. Yeah, is is that a low number for PC? I feel like, you know, without having like comparative numbers for games that were recently released in that online focus, with that kind of marketing, push. I think the top comes real low. The top concurrens on steams, get on Steam, get like hundreds of thousands. No, I know that much. I got the numbers right here if you want to see it's city. Skylines is up to thirty seven thousand. That's Concurrent yeah right now current player account. Uh no, it's top for today. Okay, sky Rim still has thirty seven thousand, right, Gary's odd forty forty k. Team Fortress two sixty four. Obviously, Doda is like eight hundred thousand. So yeah, war Frame, Yeah, those are all free to play games. Though, I feel like, you know, it's like or or a lot of those multiplayer games, A lot of them are free to play, and it's hard. It's a hard comparison to make to something like a Vault that's like a full price thing. But I'm sure I think I think everyone can agree that. Like the post release interest in Evolve is love. Yes, that's yeah, bummer for those guys, it's unfortunate. Excuse me. Yeah, it's one of tho things where it's like, you know, you it you wonder like how to how to multiplayer only games survive? You know, like Titan Fall in the PC kind of went through like a pretty deep trench there for a while until it seems like they made some playlists adjustments and like made it cheaper or something like that. It was, uh, well, yeah, so the season pass was free recently, right, Yeah, I think it might still be on Xbox and also on the game itself has been practically free on Origin. Yeah. Yeah, it was like five one weekend. Like they're kind of you know, some people you know have like xampellans. Whether the people started talking about like the next Titan Fall a little bit and you know, start talking about like well, you know, I don't know they wouldn't you know, maybe we were looking at doing a campaign or you know the idea that like DLC maps split your user base in a really negative way, which I totally agree with. Like the way that stuff gets implemented in Call of Duty is shitty. It's like one of the things you could look at Evolve and at least say like they at least like knew that, like their maps are free. It's everything else that costs a zillion dollars apparently. Yeah, I don't know, it's weird, weird time for full priced multiplayer games. Yes, because again there are so many free alternatives out there that are quite good. Yeah. Yeah, and the big games are very big for a reason. You know, the big games suck up a lot of the potential audience for the smaller stuff too, you know. So you know it's like even something like Battlefield Hardline that doesn't seem like the players well, hell, I don't know, Like anecdotally, I messed around with it over the weekend because I was trying to just test out the Windows the drivers that came with my new build, a Windows ten And like all the chatter on the server I connected to happen to just be people that seemed like they were very serious about Battlefield saying like, yeah, sure doesn't seem like they have any being people playing this at least not what it used to be with BF four. I still really like it, but doesn't seem like the numbers are here. Yeah, and a gotal lee from the like form chatter I've seen from Battlefield players, like people seem to like that game. Yeah, I think like it delivers what Battlefield players. It's a functional battlefield game, which you know, like that's more than you could say about Battlefield four at launch. So yeah, indeed, Nick has an email about Sebastian Bach, Jesus and his high school. Hey guys, so when you mentioned skid Row frontman Sebastian Bach during last week's bomb cast, it brought a memory flooding back to me that I hadn't thought of in almost twenty years. I went to Catholic school, and in ninth grade, our school decided it would be a good idea for us to go see the touring production of Jesus Christ Superstar when it played in our town. Since we were a school group, they somehow arranged for us to have a Q and A with the cast after the show. What they probably didn't know was that the role of Jesus was being played by another, none other than Sebastian Bach. So fast forward to the Q and A, in which it grew of nuns who taught our religious classes. We're directing questions about religion too. Sebastian Bach, who was dressed as a shirtless crucified Jesus, while his wife, who looked like what you'd imagine in eighties rock Stars wife circu in nineteen ninety nine would look like hell yeah, sat on his lap wearing an incredibly revealing tank top. I don't remember what stage advice mister Bach had on matters of faith, but I do remember that multiple times he ended his answers with and let me tell you stay away from drugs and mother truckers. So thanks for jogging that back to the front of my memories, since one of more of these is one of the more surreal things I've ever experienced. We got some other emails about people or from people who have seen skid Row play recently who said that the venues that they play in are perhaps not top tier. Okay, yeah, In fact, one guy said that our estimate of them playing casinos was like grossly overestimating their potential to draw an audience. Wow. Okay. In fact, slaughter where slaughter right now? I don't know that's slaughter even still exists. Slaughter can't still exist. I refuse to believe it. Somebody proved us otherwise. Jesse from Australia got a message about water restrictions. Okay, listening to your podcast, I was amazed at how relaxed you all sounded about the drought in California. I'm from Victoria, Australia, and we went through a drought for about ten years where our water reserves got really low. They implemented water restrictions, which meant that you could be fined substantially if you left a hose running, watered your lawns, or cleaned your car with a hose. Fountains in the city were switched off as not waste water, and people can only water plants on alternate nights after apm using a watering can only. People took this very seriously, turning on neighbors cutting hoses and calling the police. There was even one incident where a man was killed for using a hose to water his lawn. Even has a link to the news story. So, since America's murder rate is five times higher than Australia's, aren't you worried about the coming purge? I welcome it. I yeah, it's probably, but it's probably time for good old sidal culling. Let's do this, rory. Are you prepared, Yeah, I've been cutting back a bit. It's it was I mean, are you prepared to kill? Yeah? No, no, I think I'll think I'll I'll burn down a golf course. Really, okay, help more than it's good place to start. I didn't I didn't water my lawn once last season. Yeah, and now that we're getting closer and closer to European law and watering lands, Yeah, I'm getting getting closer to like where I probably should start watering a lawn. I'm not gonna gonna be a lot of brown yards out there. Yeah. It just sucks because there are you know, like there are people that are definitely watering the shit out of their lawn, right. Yeah. It's hard enough to look at that and go motherfuck. Yeah. The last season there was actually there was a guy going around that was spraying green tint on lawns for people. Yeah. That was something you would pay to have done. Did it look realistic at all? It looked like almost too realistic. It was one of those things that you're like, that's it looks like fake so great astro turf, Yeah, yeah something, it's super weird. Yeah. I find myself a little more conscious of just like not letting the sink run. It's the fire danger that gets you. Oh yeah, jeez, I didn't think about that. You know, like like southern California is already on fire for four months out of the year, not more. Uh, and with the drought, you know, with less and less water kind of happening for a little bit of time. Now, yeah, that just becomes Yeah, I mean it's it's like a guaranteed thing that like all of southern California is just going to burn to the ground. Uh and there won't be enough water and locally to help right in a fast enough fashion that that could get really ugly. Yeah, Like it's it's been profound even up here. I mean we're just coming out of the three month period where it rains all the fucking time here, like all the time. Yeah, like for a week at a time, it'll never stop raining. It rained yesterday except yeah I heard it's raining. It was like like that three month period I'm talking about, Like it barely fucking rained at all this year. Yeah, Like it's crazy. It's twelve years living here, I've never seen it. I'm like perpetually dried out. Like just my lips have been getting superried. I was like, why am I very It's very different, like it's normally not like even even when it has not rained in a while, it is not that dry. It is a new level of dry sucks. So yeah, I'm ready to murder if that's what it comes to lack of water will do that to people. Not gonna cut your hoses. I'm gonna cut your throat, Just go right to the source. Yeah can't. Well, we can't water you long with blood. Sure you could, you can try. Let's grow a tree of liberty. Yeahber what seventy percent water? Right? Yeah? That we used to be. No, No, we're all a bunch of descaded husks walking around exactly all right. Last email comes from Tom in Canada, Hamilton to be specific. I can't tell you what province that is, Ontario. I think, Okay, some good Canada knowledge. They're scary, like right off the top of the head. I'm impressed he must know about more games like Fez. Ever since twenty thirteen, I've been dying for another game as surprising and rewarding as Fez and, to a lesser extent, Frog Fractions. With the status of Fez two still being canceled and the identity of Frog Fractions two being unknown, what are some games on your radars that could fill this void? The only one that comes to mind for me that might come close is The Witness. I guess he's talking about games that like turn out to be way, way more than they purported to be value is kind of similar. Wait, how so the puzzly you know, uh, working around or three D kind of Yeah, I didn't mean just mechanically similar, not necessarily like the surprising aspect and shit like that. Yeah, if you're listking for like puzzle stuff like the taalos principle is good. But I know what he's talking about. He's talking about ones that are just kind of like fucking with conventions. And yeah, most most of the games that you guys are talking about still basically where what they are on their sleeve. You know, nobody looked at Fez before it came out and like realized this like insane crypto hole. They were going to fall down trying to you know, like all the ship and that kind of finished you know, quote unquote finished Fez right necessarily knowing. Yeah, you could get through that entire game and not even see that that stuff is there, much less start to try to solve it. Yeah, I've I've never seen any game that's like Fez, like to where I had no book pages, where I was trying to decipher a new alphabet and you know, shit like that that. I can't think of anything that goes anywhere near that far. Yeah, like three years later, looking back, that game is still like kind of singular in the like insanity that it got up to. I can't really think of it. Yeah, I guess I could kind of see the Witness maybe getting into that, just because like so much of what that thing is of things where it's like, you know, it's part video game and part like using some of the tools that like an aarg would use. Yeah that's yeah, sure, know kind of deliberately obfuscated stuff that inspires people to band together and solve it. You know, God, when you put it that way, I'm kind of glad more people aren't trying to copy what Fees did. Yeah, everybody was just trying to do I love Bees in their game, right, Like, I feel like that would get really trite really fast, and that would be unfortunate. But yeah, like, can you think of anything else on the horizon that white fit the bill? I guess you kind of nuts, like you catch twenty two because you don't know until after you've played it, right, I don't know that something is more than what it seems to be until until you touch it. So we have no answers for that. Yeah, No, I don't know. I'd be curious to see if they bake anything into No Man's sky, like something odd, baby that you can find. I don't know. There could be there could be like just one or two manually created planets that I just have, Like, you know, that would be fucking amazing. If there's just like if there's like a handful of coordinates that you could get your hand on, and if you go to those coordinates it gets insane. Man, Oh, that'd be so cool. Yeah, I don't know. Probably not. That's a good idea. I hadn't even thought of that. I'll give you the gold star for the email section BombCast GiantBomb dot Com. Oh man, sorry, there's always next week.
