I'm like twelve years old, and I'm you know, I'm full of piss
and vinegar, and I thought I was invincible. And I did in the
woods one day and I went into an area that I didn't normally go into,
and I just it started with that. It's like this proverbial thing now
and most of the sasquatching counter stories that you hear. Hair on the back
of my neck stood up. I had this feeling like I wasn't supposed to
be there, and I froze, and then I hear this puffing, gruffing,
growling sort of sound, and then I hear what sounded like people I've
described as a bluff charge or fight or flight kicked in. It felt like
my legs were just these big giant stumps that were stuck into the ground.
I couldn't move, and then eventually something in my lizard brain kicked in and
its flight mode. I took off. I was flying back to six or
eight hundred yards. It was back to my house and I dove over the
fence and I didn't tell anybody, you know, I didn't tell my mom
until literally a couple of years ago. I told her about their experience,
and she was like, I never eveknew that experience, and I'm like,
yeah, I didn't want to tell you because hey, I didn't think can
let me go back in the woods? And b I thought you might think
I was crazy. This is Bigfoot Crossroads. My name is Matt and joining
me is mister Brian Sharp. Brian, thank you for gracing me with your
presence, Sir, how are you? Absolutely? Man? I am good,
man, I'm good. I appreciate you asking me to come home.
So first off, I want to ask you about Sasquatch unleashed the truth behind
the legend. You recently published a book. Man, how'd that go?
Oh? Man? It was definitely a labor of love. But yeah,
it's it's finally out there. I say finally because the funny thing is the
truth behind the book coming out was I've been talking about writing a book and
thinking about writing a book for years, and of course you get into the
subject and you talk to so many people, and then you go, why
am I going to write a book about it? Is anybody going to read
it? Does anybody really give it? They really give a crap about what
I have to say? But then once that got past that point, I
was like, you know, I'm going to write a book, and this
is kind of what I want to do. I just decided to sit down
and do it, and I probably wrote the book. You know. I
was talking to somebody yesterday. We had a gig that I did up near
our house here. It was a little like a comic con festival, and
I was selling books there and somebody said, you know, congratulations on the
book. You know, it takes forever to do that. People don't realize
it takes years to publish a book. And I said, well, it
took me like four months from beginning to end. I'm just that kind of
person. When I set my mind to something, I said, I'm going
to do it. I'm very impatient. I want everything yesterday. So I
literally wrote the book in about two and a half months and then I sent
it off to I got with Dougan Alex over at Hanger One and I said,
look, I like this book to be out no later than the first
of March, and this was like the end of December. And they were
like, okay, well we shouldn't be able to do that. So they
were fantastic. The team over there, Doug and Alex are phenomenal. If
you guys aren't familiar with Hanger one pulption, you've got to check it out.
We've got tons of authors over there, tons of books, and mine
is just one and I see of those books. But yeah, it was.
It was definitely a labor of love. I had to do a lot
of putting a lot of things off to get a book done, and it'sok.
Probably two and a half three months. It took me to write it
because there's a lot of research that goes into it. There was a lot
of notes, and it's definitely a process. But it's over. I'm very
proud of the results. I didn't know I was going to be as proud
of the book as I actually am, But I think it turned out to
be a great book and I'm excited about it. What I know, you
want people to buy the book, and I recommend they do so, of
course. But what kind of approach did you take with the book? Is
this going to be like your thoughts on the subject or is this stories?
What kind of book is it? Exactly? Well, it starts a little
bit about my history, my story. The first chapter is literally called the
Odyssey Begins because for me, this really began as a child when I started
getting interested in Sasquatch and looking into Bigfoot and Cryptid's just the whole world of
the weird. So I talked about that. I talked about my personal experiences.
When I was like twelve years old, I think I had an experience
where I was probably past out of the woods by sasquatch. I didn't see
what it was, but I assume that's what it is now, knowing what
I know now and talking to as many people that I have, it seems
logical that might be. I've never said it is, probably never will because
I didn't see it. But I sort of started there. I talked about
my experiences and then I just move into the phenomenon of sasquarts. That was
the big thing for me, was talking about just Bigfoot and pop culture.
So I talked a little bit about that. There's a chapter on that in
the book. Of course. I sort of laid the foundation with some history,
some of the older stories, the Iceland story, some of the things
that we all know. Ape Canyon, you know. Reached out to Mark
Mirchelle and he was gracious enough to send me some really cool pictures that he
took over at Ape Kenyon, and I did a little section on Mark in
the book, so it was just that's sort of the beginning of it.
And then I got I talk about hoaxes people who have listened to my show.
No, I don't pull into bunches when it comes to people hoax and
anything related to Bigfoot. I've called Todd sending out. We have had a
love hate relationship for years, and so I talk about hoaxers. I talked
about some of the known hoaxes. Now I'm not called people out without evidence.
I'm talking about like the Georgia bigfoot hopes from back in the day and
some of the known hoaxers. Bring that out because I think it's important.
It's an important part of the history of this that we talk about those things
because you see it all the time on social media. A picture that was
hoaxed ten years ago will resurface and make its rounds and get another five hundred
and six hundred thousand views on YouTube and Instagram, and it's like people have
never seen it before because we have such short memories. So I really wanted
to go in and talk about that. And then I have a section on
the scientific method. There's a chapter there, I talk about where the bodies
are, why there's not been bones found, why did we not have fossils
of these things? I talk about the it's really really interesting. It's like
watching paint drive just for some people, but it's interesting to me to talk
about the fossilization process. And so I go a little bit into that.
And let's talk about some of the primate behaviors that aid primates, that known
primates and stealth, and how that may be applicable to sasquatching and may explain
some of the things that we experience and people experience in the woods, and
maybe why we don't see these things as often as people think we should if
they exist. So I'll talk a little bit about that. And then I
had a chapter on and talk about my time up in radium with Todd Sandy.
I went out on a seven day adventure with Todd and a couple of
other folks back in October of last year, twenty twenty three, and I
talk about that in the book. I share some photos that I've never shared,
some videos that I've never shared from my heights, and some of the
things we did up in Radiums. So that's the other cool thing about the
Hanger One Publishing and Doug Hichick and Alex's son, they have interactive book technology,
So that was one of the things that was interested in trying to do
with the book. At the end of the book, there's a little QR
code and you get your scan that when you buy the book, and you
get to see the photos that aren't published anywhere else. You get to see
some of the videos. Like I said, there's I don't know, maybe
a couple of hours of video that I've never released anywhere from my time in
Radium and some other stuff that I've put in the book. So yeah,
just a little bit of everything. Man, you cover pretty much every aspect
of bigfooting and being involved in the world of bigfoot. It sounds like that's
what I tried to do. I wanted to be I wanted to take this
very scientifically. I'm not a scientist. I don't even play one on my
show, but I wanted to be as scientific as possible because I try to
use critical thinking. I try to use Okham's raiser. I try to talk
about that in the book. I talk about critical thinking and paradolia and misconceptions
and misidentifications and I even break down in one of the chapters. I was
in law enforcement for sixteen years and I did a lot of work in the
courtroom. That was part of the job. As being a cop. You
don't just go out and answer college You have to arrest people. And that
means you got to go to court. You gotta go to court, you
got to testify, you gotta know what evidence is, you got to know
what's not evidence. So I kind of break that down and try to paint
a picture for honestly, I start the chapter by saying, lot of people
there's a lot of misconceptions about what evidence is. Because I know you've heard
that, Matt. Most everybody who's into the subjects say, well, there's
no evidence that Bigfoot exists. Why are we even talking about it because there's
no evidence of that. Well, actually there is. There's a ton of
evidence. I mean anecdobal evidence is evidence, And I talked a little bit
about that in the book. I think the name of the chapter is can
we convict Sasquatch in a court of law? And I've joked about that on
my show before. If you're sitting on a jury and you have to convict
sasquatch, of being real, of existing based on the evidence that you've seen
over the years, are you convicting I'm probably going to because I think there's
a ton of evidence out there, nothing else other than the Passion Gemlin films
and the other films that are out there, some videos, the Freeman footage
I think is probably real, some of the footprint evidence, and just having
a conversation with Jeff milivin if you can't set at a table, I have
done this. I've sat and had dinner with Jeff milder Bear. If you
can't have a dinner with them and come away at least pretty much convinced that
Sasquatch is real based on that conversation, there's probably something wrong with you.
So I got to go into that. In the book. I talk about
some of the high strangeness stuff. I get into the woo part of Bigfoot,
some of the habituation situations that people have claimed to have over the years,
and I talk about that and just kind of ended out talking about the
fascination with monsters, escapism and the modern world and some of the things that
draw people's attention and maybe why people are so into the subjects. And then
I ended with talking about the truth behind the legend. That's a secret you
got to buy the book to. That is the secret that we're all searching
for, and you have answered it in the book. Well, it's kind
of a People have kind of given me a little bit of guff because I
struggled with putting the word truth in the title. I went back and forth
with Doug on the title quite a bit when I was I've retitled the book
a couple of times. But ultimately, and here's the spoiler alert, I
guess I'll just go ahead and put this out there. It doesn't really spoil
the book, but it is part of it. Ultimately, the truth lies
with all of us. That's what I've come to understand about this and talking
to so many people, talking to people like you. You and I see
eye to eye on most things. I think in a couple of conversations we've
had about Bigfoot, but I'm sure if we talk long enough, we'll probably
end up disagreeing about something. But ultimately, the truth has to lie with
you. I mean, that's really the truth about the subject is it's what
you choose to believe, and people believe a lot of different things, So
ultimately, that's kind of where I left the book is. You know,
once you go through the book, and once you go through all the things
that you read, you just come away with you have to pick and choose
what you think is the truth. I say it on my share of a
lot, you know, I say a lot of things I have a lot
of people on that people may disagree with, and I just say, take
what you want and leave the rest. That's really what it's all about.
And the book is kind of like that as well. You take what you
want, leave the rest, and then the truth is really up to you
just decide. I would say that would be another point that we see eye
to eye on. I agree wholeheartedly with that train of thought. You mentioned
being young and kind of starting this journey at least in your mind at a
very early age, which is something that I share with you as well.
Can you kind of talk a little bit about what captured your interest in that
sort of phenomenon whenever you're a kid, and maybe who you were before you
became you know, the podcast host in the Bigfoot World. Yeah, I
think for most kids, I was a loner. We were really poor,
grew really poor. We didn't have a ton of money, so I was
always outside plane and we were fortunate enough to rent a home from some folks
when I was around eleven or twelve, and there was a lot of land
around it. There was a lot of woods, and I just escaped there.
I had a really crappy home life. My dad was alcoholic, addicted
to drugs. My mom worked all the time. She tried to hold everything
together. I had a younger sister, so she was kind of the glue
that held everything together. And I just escaped into the woods and into my
imagination. I always loved to read, I love to write stories, I
love to anything. Nessy was my first love, my first cryptid, you
know, the Lockness Monster, because it was one of those things as a
kid you could see on you know that I always be these specials on or
whatever talking about the Lockedness Monster, and it just sucked me in and it
was just right up my alley. And then I would watch a couple of
reruns of things, you know, you'd see the six million Dollar Man episode
with Bigfoot, and you know, here and there there would be these other
things, and I always remembered thinking, you know, NeSSI is one of
those things. I knew it was a long way away. I had no
idea, you know. For me, I lived in North Georgia. I
lived about an hour away from Atlanta, and that was like a world away
from me. Atlanta was like a different country, so I couldn't even fathom
where the UK was or where Nesty might be. But for me, Bigfoot
could be in those pine trees just outside of my house. So I think
I'm gravitated to that because I also heard stories. My great grandmother and my
great grandfather the rest of their souls used to talk about gensame hunters in the
area I grew up, like I said, in the North Georgiana mountains,
and gensng hunting was a thing back then. I guess it still is,
but it doesn't grow in the easiest to get to places. So it's a
track to get in and out of these places, right We're talking on the
sides of these mountains in North Georgia. And I would hear stories, And
there was one particular story that my grandfather told me. Bless his party would
tell me, you know, at least a couple of times a year,
like I'd never heard it before, and I would always pretend like I've never
heard it before, but he would talk about this gen couple of genzz hunters
that were up on the mountain and they came down scared to death. They
basically rolled down the mountain. They were cut up, bruised up, beating
up. They came into town and they were talking about seeing this big hairy
man and now I understand that to be big for it. And that story
always fascinated me. It always scared me a little bit because I'm like twelve
years old and I'm you know, I'm full of piss and vinegar, and
I thought I was invincible. But at the same time, I'm in the
I'm carrying the baby gun. I've got to pill it right, all right,
trips that around in the woods, I'm not really protecting myself from anybody.
So and that's what happened. I went out in the woods one day
and I went into an area that I didn't normally go into. I had
my little areas down near the creek where i'd always stay, and then I
there was probably another one hundred and fifty acres around us that I'd never really
explored. So I went into a different area and I just it started with
that. It's like this proverbial thing now and most of the sasquatching coutter stories
that you hear hair on the back of my neck stood up. I had
this feeling like I wasn't supposed to be there, and I froze, and
then I hear this i've been gruffing, growling sort of sound. And then
I hear what sounded like I've know now to be I didn't have any idea
what a bluff charge was back then, but what sounded like people have described
as a bluff charge what you would see a you know, silver back guerrilla
doing a bluff charge to somebody. And all this was happening in this really
thick brush. And if you've never been to Georgia or I live in North
Carolina now in the summertime, these woods are thick. It's ten feet away
from you. There's places that you you know, something could be fifteen feet
tall and nine hundred pounds and you wouldn't see it. And that's sort of
the situation I was in. And I again, I never saw what was
doing it, but I froze. Fight or flight kicked in and I felt
I think I described it in the book, is it felt like my legs
were just these big giant stumps that were stuck into the ground. I couldn't
move, and this thing was doing this thing. It sounded like it was
coming after me, but it never got close enough for me to see it.
And then eventually it seemed like it was probably twenty five minutes, but
it was probably fifteen or twenty seconds. This went on, and then something
in my lizard brain kicked in and it was white mode, and I took
off assholes and elbows. I was flying back to six or eight hundred yards.
It was back to my house from where I was, and I dove
over the fence and I didn't tell anybody, you know. I didn't tell
my mom until literally a couple of years ago. I told her about the
experience and she was like, I never knew that that experience, And I'm
like, yeah, I didn't want to tell you because I didn't Hey,
I didn't think you'd let me go back in the woods, and b I
thought you might think I was crazy. So it was the culmination of those
things that kept me from and I didn't know what it was, you know.
And it's funny. I was on a show. It's probably been two
two and a half years ago. Now, I was a guest on another
podcast and it was more of a paranormal kind of podcast, and the host
was actually into demonology and some other strange things. Strange, maybe not strange
to other people. But he said to me, because the house we lived
in was haunted, I was going through some really weird things in the house.
I was hearing scratching on the walls. I'm seeing voices at night.
I was waking up and having dark figures standing over my bed at night.
It was a lot of stuff, right, And he said to me,
do you think it's possible that what was going on in your house might have
followed you into the woods and it might not be related to the sass Watch
at all. I was like, wow, the guy's ever really said that
to men. I never even considered that, but I had to consider it,
right. I didn't see what it was, so, you know,
I'm not really into that kind of stuff. I certainly believe in it because
I've experienced some of that stuff, so I know it's real. But you
know, I just always thought that it was more on possibly a sass Watch
encounter, but I don't know, Like I said, I never saw it,
so then I saw UFO when I was sixteen with my mom had that
experience. So it's just been a lifelong sort of thing with living in a
hundred places, having a possible sass, watching counter and seeing the UFO,
had some other weird experiences. But I always wanted to be a cop.
That was sort of my thing. You know. I either wanted to be
a famous singer I have. I did an album about ten years ago.
There's a reason on my podcast or the album didn't do so great, So
you know, I think I had the talent. I just didn't have to
drive to get into music. It takes a lot of work, so I'm
kind of lazy. But I either wanted to be the most famous country music
star ever. I wanted to be like the next starth Brooks, or I
wanted to be a cop. So, you know, I went straight to
work out of high school. Again, we were pot I didn't go to
college out of high school. I went to work, and you know,
I was successful. I had great careers, and I just wanted to be
a cop. So I eventually went into law enforcement, and I was in
law enforcement for sixteen years. And you don't really talk about UFOs and haunted
houses and possible big foot encounters when you're trying to prosecute people just arrested.
So I just really suppressed that part of my life for so long, but
it was always there. I was always interested in I was always behind the
scenes looking at it, reading books. Never really got into podcasts though,
and I finally I don't even know who recommended podcasts to me. I don't
know, probably four or five years ago, and I listened to the first
big Foot Encounters podcast and I was hooked. I knew then that that was
what I was really passionate about, because people were having encounters with something and
I felt like I may have had that same type of encounter, and I
just wanted to know more. I had to know answers because I just I
couldn't just believe in it. I just wanted to know more. So I
kept listening to the podcast, and I thought, you know, I would
like to talk to people who have had those encounters myself, not just listen
to them. So I started getting into Facebook groups. I probably joined five
or six hundred big foot Sasquatch Facebook groups, reaching out to people, Hey
if you had an experience, Hey, if you had any camera Hey,
do you send one of these things? And people started responding. They were
like, yeah, I have. And one guy was probably two hours maybe
three hours away from me here in North Carolina. He had a roadside crossing
down at Meadock State Park and just a couple of years back. And I
was like, okay, So this is like end of twenty and twenty going
into twenty one. And I thought, Man, if I'm going to talk
to these people, how am I going to preserve this? My memory sucks.
I can't even remember what I had for breakfast most of the time.
I don't like taking notes. So I should record this some way if they're
okay with it for posterity, right, so I can listen back to it.
And I thought, what if other people want to listen to it?
Why don when I start a podcast? I had no idea what I was
doing. I had no clue. So I started recording the first conversations on
my phone. I was using some I think it was called red of RDV.
It was a free app on it for Apple Apple phones. So I
started to recording people. Of course, it sounded horrible. It was absolutely
the worst quality audio ever. But I was recording the interviews, and you
know, so I named the show, I started the show, and I
put the first episode out I think February of twenty twenty one was a roadside
crossing from North Carolina and it just kind of grew from there and the rest
has been history, as they say. So at this point, you know,
you mentioned having those conversations with the likes of you know, doctor Jeff
melderm and everything. Are you convinced that these things exist? Yeah? Man,
I am. Probably. There's so many people who listen to my show
who want me to be one hundred percent all in, and I totally get
that. I just can't get there because I haven't seen one of these things
and I've had tons of other experiences since my childhood on our land here in
North Carolina in BC last year with odd standing that have almost gotten me convinced.
I mean, justin Patterson Gimlin film. It has taken me years to
get there, and I'm about eighty five percent sure that that's a real Sasquatch
and that's real. I don't know, but I just had a conversation with
Ryan RPGGO and Beskie a couple of days ago that really has made me scratch
my head, and I've I've got to have some private conversations with him because
he said a couple of things that were kind of cryptic that really makes me
wonder about the PG film now. But that's probably a whole another show for
another day. But again, I think having conversations with Jeff and Cliff and
some of those people have moved the needle from me, because if you really
dialing and you know those guys, they don't bees about that kind of stuff,
right, and they are one convinced, and I have so much respect
for both of them, it's hard for me to say no. But that
was a really long answer to a short question. I would say, here,
here's the answer. Six days out of seven, I am pretty much
convinced that there is something to the phenomenon and these things exist, or at
least did exist at some point in time. That other day, I'm just
again, I think it's just going to take me having that no doubt I've
seen it experience for me to be one hundred percent. I think that's a
great answer. I think you're as far as you can be without having that
siding. And I think that if someone is convinced one that these things do
exist and they haven't had a sighting. In my opinion, they're wrong.
They might think they're convinced, but I thought I was convinced. I thought
I was there, and then whenever I had it puts you in a place
that didn't exist prior to that. So I think it's a great answer.
I think it's a good place to be, especially in your position where you've
talked to, you know, hundreds upon hundreds of witnesses and talk to the
experts you know, and the most knowledgeable people in the field. I think
you should withhold that full one hundred percent or that final day of the week
until you've had that siding. Yeah, I think so too. But there's
so many people who get pissed off at me because I mean, it happens
to me. I've talked about it about a couple of times on that Bigfoot
podcast with Wayne, my co host over there. We talked about Redden,
and you know, people saying they don't listen to my show because I can't
and they're certainly not going to buy my book because I can't decide if Bigfoot's
real or not. Why would anybody want to listen to me? Yeah,
my reaction to that is that's exactly who I want to be listening to.
Those are kind of people I try to surround myself with. Those are the
kind of people that I want to have conversations with. I love having conversations
with people who disagree with me, because I think that's how we learn.
If we all drink from the same kool aid and everybody's just cooming by y'all
that the forest giants exist and nobody ever questions anything. We never get anywhere
because they're still not recognized by science. We're still trying to push the ball
down the field and get some recognition. If these things are real and they're
out there, then why aren't we finding them? And I think we need
to do different things and have different conversations to move that needle and move that
ball down the proverbial field, because we've been doing the same thing for fifty
plus years and we've gotten no closer, in my opinion, than we were
prior to the Patterson getting film. So I like having those conversations. But
some people just want to listen to people who they agree with, And if
that's what you're into, then I'm probably not the show you need to be
listening to because and again it's a different dynamic with Sasquatch Odyssy because I do
a couple of shows. Sasquatch Odyssey is completely one hundred percent about the encounters.
I don't do a lot of talking. I certainly don't do a lot
of opinionating and pontificating about my opinions on that show, because that's not what
it's about. It's about the people who come on, and I cherish those
people. That is one of my favorite things on earth is to talk to
people who have had experiences that I haven't had, and I give them a
safe place to do that, judgment free. And I've had some wild ones.
Let me tell you. I've struggled with putting some of the episodes that
I've ended up posting because I want people to understand that I take this very
seriously and I'm very serious about the subject. But I think you have to
give them a voice, and I think you have to let everybody's experiences be
what they are, and again, you take what you want and you leave
the rest. But we have the other show, that big podcast that Wayne
and I host together that is all about our opinions. It's a conversation,
and we get into some hooaxures, we get into do the red circle squatches,
we get into some of the things that really piss us off that goes
on in the community, because I think, again, we need to be
having those kinds of conversations where the encounter shows are great. It's my bread
and butter, it's what I love to do, it's how I pay my
bills, frankly, but I think those other conversations are just as important,
if not more important, in a lot of cases, to talk about people
who are hoaxing people, to talk about people who are taking advantage of people
in this community, to talk about some of the things that aren't necessarily pleasant
to talk about. We tackle that over there, and we call people out
and we talk about parability, and we talk about what it does to real
evidence and how it suppresses a lot of people who have real evidence who just
won't come forward because they see some of the shenanigans that are going on in
the community. So we try to address those things, and it's become very
popular, very quickly. I mean we're only like thirty eight episodes in or
so of that show, and we have quite an audience and it grows,
and the engagement has been amazing from that show because I'm not used to it.
Frankly, with Sasquatch, I mean, we get a lot of engagement
because you have a pretty big audience, but it's nothing like having a conversation
that people can be a part of. We do live call in shows,
and people have direct access to send me text messages and call me and leave
me voicemails, and it is just it's become my new favorite thing. I
mean, if I could just do encounters and have those kind of conversations and
do that kind of show for the rest of my life, I would be
the happiest man in Bigfoot for sure. So to you personally, since you
don't get to talk about this stuff very much on your own show, what
makes a good Bigfoot story for you? Obviously? People love those scary,
aggressive encounters. Do you enjoy those kind of stories or is there something else
that's more of your cup of tea? I enjoy them all. I have
just gotten into doing I'm doing a series. I had a guy on from
Alaska, friend from Alaska, and he's a tribal member of there First Nations,
and he has had some really aggressive encounters with sasquatch over the years,
to the point of having to shoot his way out of the cabin at one
point, and he has collected a lot of stories. He has a great
YouTube channel. It's called Subarctic Atlanta Subarctic Alaska Sasquatch if you guys want to
check it out on YouTube. He tells the stories on his videos there.
But after I had fred on, I said, hey, man, you
have a big audience. I have a pretty decent sized audience. I would
love to get these stories out there. Can I take some of these stories
that you're telling in your words from your YouTube channel and just play them once
a week. I've made it a Wednesday tradition now on the show. And
a lot of those encounters have been from the exact same area in Alaska,
on this particular stretch of river, and they're very aggressive rock throwing. These
things are trying to break in the cabins, they're looking into windows. It's
pretty aggressive stuff. So there's people that listen to the show that don't like
those kind of encounters, and they, of course let me know that,
but a lot of people do. I'm fifty to fifty, but here's the
way I approach any story I probably should have started to hear. I approach
every single encounter story as I'm collecting evidence. I act as I like to
think of my show as sort of a repository of information for people that are
into the subject, who can listen to all of these different types of encounters.
That happened in the UK, they happen in Florida, that happened in
the Pacific Northwest, they're happening in the Louisiana, And they take all of
that from me doing these interviews, and then they can find the commonalities.
They can at the differences, they can see what's permeating through all of them.
What's that common thread that we're seeing in almost every situation, no matter
where it's happening. So I'm always thinking along those lines. It's not really
about what I enjoy so much. It's more about just extracting the data from
my own personal knowledge and use as a student of the subject, and then
what that does for the audience. And of course, you know some of
the out there really aggressive encounters. I mean there's a lot of drama when
three mini or pinned down in the cabin and this thing is trying to get
in and it's looking through the window and he eventually has to shoot his way
out and they're surrounded, they're seeing eye shine, they're having to make a
run for their skiff. They barely get out. They these things come out,
they start throwing rocks, they vocalize it. I mean, that's a
pretty compelling story. I mean it's you know, there's a reason that the
movies like that sell well. In the movie Theguters, right, there's drama
there. But I think there's something to be gleaned from those because one of
the main reasons, and if you listen to Freddy that on my show or
on his YouTube channel, he shares these encounters because he's pretty adamant that he
doesn't think every sasquatch is some bloodthirsty creature that's out there snatching everybody that goes
missing anywhere in the woods, and they're all killers by any means. But
he does think it's important that if people are having these experiences, then he's
had those experiences, and he shares his own experiences because if you're out in
the woods in these areas, you need to know that, because I think
you have to be smart when you go in the woods. If there's a
bunch of grizzly bear in a certain area, and there's a rogue grizzly that's
very aggressive. Wouldn't you want to know that before you go salm and honey
salmon fishing. I know I would. I'm not going and no grizzly areas
to begin with. I'm right there with you. I'm right there with you.
But if you are and you are in those areas, those kind of
stories are important for you to hear, and whether you believe them or not,
I'm probably going to hear that and go I'm probably going to be just
a little bit more on edge. I may have my head on a swivewooll,
maybe a little bit more than I might have, because it's possible this
thing could be out there. So I think those aggressive encounters serve their purpose.
Obviously they're entertaining for a lot of people. But if these things are
and I do think they're animals, and I think they have the propensity,
like any animal, including human beings, to be aggressive and to have a
personality that may be a little rogue. Just have your head on a swive
book and make sure that you pay attention to what you're doing and be prepared
to protect yourself if you're in an area to have a possible encounter. But
I've had some, you know, some of the weirder stories sometimes are interesting
to me just because I like to break down the story as people are telling
you, and I'm talking more of a high strangeness, you know. I
had a guide on from Tennessee, I guess it was last year sometime,
had some what would be considered as mundane as it could possibly be to see
an eight foot Terry hamdid in Tessee while you're fishing on a river bank,
but a pretty mundane experience, right This thing was playing, It was kind
of playing with him and taking his metal bucket, and he ends up seeing
the thing and going back over and over and having a couple of encounters to
being on a property in a recent investigation, and of course it's just as
recent as last year right before I had him on, and he claimed to
see an orb that came down the hill while they were experiencing Bigfoot activity and
the orb turned into apostle in front of it. I don't know what to
make of that. And there was one of the there's one of these guys.
He was in state government up there he was in I mean, he
was somebody in this town still is. I mean, he's pretty well known
in the bigfoot community. He has no dog in the fight to lie to
me about that. He said to me, Brian, I know you think
you're going to think I'm absolutely bad shit crazy, But this is what happened.
And why would he tell me that if it didn't happen. It's weird
to me that an org would turned into a possum while he's having big foot
activity. And he says, you're vocalizing around it. But I don't know
what to make of that. So I find that very intriguing. You know,
some people they roll their eyes or how can you have that fell?
And he's clear he've been smoking something. Now I don't necessarily think so if
you're going to make up a story like that, you're not going to have
it turned into a possum. Yeah, that's what I thought. It's weird.
Man. Have you talked to a particular guest on your show that their
story just really kind of hit harder with you emotionally. Yeah, there was
a couple actually, and I've talked about this one so many times, but
it was an elk counter last year, and he reached out to me and
said, I really want to tell my story. I love your show,
I trust you your law enforcement background, the way you approached the subject.
I want to tell my story all the way through with you for the first
time. He said he had told a piece of his story to another podcast
or right after that happened, not on the air, but told the podcast
who helped him a little bit with dealing with it, because he had a
really tough time dealing with certain aspects of his encounter. And he said,
I told my wife and I told my dad parts of it, but I've
never told him everything all the way through. And he said, I just
want to sit down and tell my story from beginning to end one time,
and I'm doing. I don't want anything else to do with this. I
don't want to have anything else to do with Bigfoot. I've had enough.
I'm done. So he told me a story, and in a nutshell,
it was a very long story. Again, I got emails about it because
this episode was about an hour and a half, but I literally let him
talk for an hour and a half. I don't think I said anything for
an hour and a half. He talked the entire time. He was very
detailed. He told everything from beginning to end, how it happened, when
it happened, how he felt, what happened afterwards. But in a nutshell,
what he had a really hard time was he and his dad were on
I think a seven day elk hunt. They both had tags for elk.
They were in the Washington area and on the first or second day out he
has an encounter with a sasquatch. This thing was three knocking. According to
him, he was hearing these knocks and he couldn't understand it. So we
went to investigate. He wasn't having any there was no elk sign, there
was no activity going on for honey, so he was intrigued by these knocks.
He starts walking towards the knox. Every time he would stop walking,
it would knock. It was almost like he felt like. Eventually, he
told me he felt like he was being lured in for some of the farious
reasons. Again, it's subjective, he said, I have no proof,
it's just how I felt. But this thing was knocking. He ends up
gets to the area where it was. He's twenty five thirty feet away from
this tree. The huge Sasasquatch steps out there and like a face off.
Right, this guy got a high power of black in his hand. He's
looking to take down the hilk. He said, there's no way I would
raise my rifle at this thing. He said, I knew that I didn't
have a firepower. There's no way I was going to take the same down.
So he backs away. He gets out of the situation. The thing
that really stuck with him the most wasn't even being a face to face twenty
twenty five feet away from this massive sass watch after he felt like he was
being lured in for in the various reasons, he said, the unnerving part
for him, and the really bad part for him was he didn't tell his
dad. And for the next six days, his dad got up every morning,
he went to his hunting spot and he went and sat in his truck
because he was scared to go back in the woods. And he said,
I didn't tell my dad, and I felt like a horrible person because this
thing could have killed my dad. And it just ate him up, and
he said he turned to drink it. I mean, he was a very
straight laced you know, he had never been in the military, but he
was the military type, so yeah, I just got that vibe from him,
just very put together, and it just it tore him up, and
he turned to drink and he said, I tried to bury it in the
bottom of a bottle. I went to therapy. Finally, after a year
or so of therapy, I moved through the alcohol stuff. I was able
to sit down and tell my dad and make commends with my dad. And
you know, he was almost in tears telling me the story. And I
can get that. I think I think that part just stuck with me the
most. I mean, of course, it was a I mean, I
guess air quote cool encounter to be that close to the Sasquatch and lived to
tell about it. But the really compelling part for me was how bad it
tore him up that he didn't tell his dad about it. And I can
understand that. I mean, what if something had happened to his dad.
I don't know how he would have ever been able to live with that.
But I think that just in and of itself, seeing the emotion and feeling
that part of his story hit home for me because how can you make that
up? I mean, you can make up seeing a Sasquatch. Yeah,
I saw one as I was driving by, you know, out of the
corner of my eye at tall or whatever. But to go into that kind
of detail. And I'm watching this guy on video right, We're on stream
yard doing this energy, and I'm watching his emotions, man, and he's
getting emotional about it. I just don't think he could fake that. So,
I mean, his history really did stick out to me, and I
even reached out to him. They were looking to do some hypnosis or aggression
for Legend Meet Science to the Hichek's documentary, and Doug had me reach out
to a couple of people and ask if you know they we had. He
was looking for particular people that had certain types of encounters with sasquatch that they
could do regression on and to see if they can pull out more details.
And this guy came to mind because he wasn't into big Foot. He wasn't
in the big Foot before he had he certainly isn't into big Foot. Afterwards,
he wants it to be done. He's moved on. And I reached
out to him and I said, hey, man, I know you don't
want to do this, but I think it could really help people if you
did no pressure obviously, and I think he chose not to do it ultimately,
But and just that like, he's not seeking fame, he's not seeking
fortune, he's not seeking fifteen minutes of anything. He just wanted to tell
his story, to get it off his chest, have his cathartic moment to
somebody that he trusted, and luckily he chose to do it on my show,
And that just really stuck with me. I mean, almost five I'm
almost five hundred episodes in. There's a lot of stories that are obviously compelling,
and I'm not trying to leave anybody out, but that's just one of
the most recent that has really stuck out to me. With your property that
you're at currently, I know that some things have been happening there. We've
talked a bit about it in private. What kind of got your gears turning
that you might be having bigfoot in and around your own home? The first
thing, vocalizations we bought this property towards the end of twenty seventeen. I
believe we bought the first twenty acres and then we acquired the other twenty acres
about a year and a half later. When the folks put it up for
sale that had bought it the same day we bought our property. But we've
only been living here full time now about four years and once the first season
that we moved in. We have a four hundred square foot tiny house and
we have a lot of outdoor space forty acres of outdoor space, so we
spend a lot of time outdoors. Obviously we love the woods. We're in
the middle of nothing, but there's nothing but land around us. I've actually
posted it on my Instagram, so if you're really curious, look on the
Sasquatch out to see what's bigfoot bks now on Instagram. There's actually an aerial
shot overhead of my house. So you can't find it because I've shrubbed all
that stuff, so don't even try to really find me, but you can
get a a of the land. There's really nothing around us but woods.
My nearest neighbor is about three quarters of a mile away, I would say.
So we moved in. We put a hot tub on the end of
our deck. On the hot tub, so we're out. You know,
you get in the hot tub in the fall. It's one of my favorite
things. You know, it's about forty degrees outside. You got the water
at like one oh one. You're sitting at a glass of wine and relaxing
in the hot tub after a hard day's work. I wasn't a podcast event,
so I was really working hard every day. So and we hear on
the back of this ridge there's probably I would estimate two hundred and fifty to
three hundred acres of property. Once ours ends just on the other side of
us, it's just land, just woods. And from that general direction it
sounded I would estimate a mile away. It sounded like the Ohiohi, just
the quintessential Ohiohi, a kind of bigfoot call. And I was like,
what in the hell is that? And here it and the you know,
you start a conversation and you move on. We heard that a couple of
times, and over the course of I mean, we kept the hot tub
of all winter. I mean, I was I love to get in the
hot tub. If it's fifteen degrees outside, I'm gonna I'm getting out in
the hotel before I go to bed. That's just how I will. And
we would hear these noises, not every day, I would say, probably
over the course of the time of having the hot tub. You know,
through the winter, out of maybe four months, we probably heard it five
times in the distance, same thing. Sometimes it'd be a couple of times.
Sometimes it only be one, and that would be it. Didn't really
think much of it, and I guess it was maybe that summer or going
into that spring. After that hot tub season, I had started podcasting.
So this is twenty twenty one, so we're talking probably March April of twenty
twenty one. I just finished up a couple of interviews for the day,
and I was upstairs in the law We sleep upstairs and the loft. We
had the windows open because it was about fifty degrees outside. It felt great,
and probably fifty sixty yards from the house in the woods, we hear
what sounds like the ohio, extremely loud, with sort of like a I
called it a bar on the end. It was kind of more like a
growl. I guess like that, and I felt, we felt, and
I said, I looked at my better half, I said, did you
hear that? Yeah? Well, what was that? I don't know,
what do you think of this? We're having this little stricking frag moment.
Ya, what do you think? I said, it was one or two
things. It was either a person or it was a sasquatch. I mean,
that's that's just what I said, because to this day I cannot tell
you that it was either. But given the label land, we have security
measures. Let's say here, we've got two entrances on our property to driveways.
We have cameras, we have motion sensors, we have censor motion activated
lights. Nothing went off there. Could there be a person that could have
accessed at other places, sure, but why would a person be eleven o'clock
at night outside on private property in North Carolina? By the way, Yeah,
this is yeah, this is like Texas, right, you don't go
on other people's property. We have the purple paint law here. Everybody up
and down our street and in this area has purple paint in the trees.
And people say, what does that purple paint mean? It means if you
aren't invited to be past that line on that tree, you probably don't want
to be there. Because it basically not that it gets people the right to
shoot you, but it's a pretty good idea that you're probably going to get.
Some says, I mean a flower bringing if you're not supposed to be
on somebody's property. So I just don't I don't think it was a person,
and I don't know that a person could be that loud. Again,
it's hard to explain if you've never heard what you think to be a sasquatch
vocalization. I don't know how to describe it other than you feel it as
much as you hear it. And that was it. I mean, that
was the one time twenty twenty one and we have not had that sense.
But I have cast footprints on the property. I probably cast a total of
four five sets of footprints on our property and one set on our neighbor's property,
which is about a mile away. And we found interesting tree structures,
we found interesting tree breaks. One of the first things was a gifting situation
that was really weird to me on a stump that we walk our dogs.
We have three dogs, and I walk the dogs several times a day on
this it's probably a half mild loop. That we've carved out a path on
our property and we walked them the same way every single day, and there's
a stump off to the right and I'm walking by one morning. I walked
them the night before, the evening before and walked past the stump. Nothing
there that morning. I walked past, and the sun had come out,
still early, but the sun was up pretty high in the sky, so
it was a little sun coming through the canopy of the trees, and something
shiny caught my eye. There was a bleached white box turtle shell, just
general size, I don't know what, five six inches across, I guess,
regular size box turtleshell. It was turned upside down and stuck into the
side of this cedar stump that was sort of decayed. And I'm thinking,
that is so weird, and it wasn't like it was just and I know
verds will kill turtles and other predators, you know, raccoons and stuff will
kill turtles from upside down to get to the turtle inside or whatever. This
thing had been there. This thing had been bleached for a while. It
was clearly old. It was clearly bleached twy from the sun and stuck into
the side of the stump. He was just the weirdest thing, dude.
I still I still can't explain that. So I did start doing this little
gifting thing there. I've never been into the gifting thing. It's always kind
of been one of those kind of out there sort of things to me that
just it could go either way. Right, it's never you never, nobody's
ever put anything out on the gifting stuff and just put a camera up and
here comes a sasquatch and opens up and stands the peanut butter at the jar.
Right, it's always well, the peanut butter jar was gone. I
found it two days later. The jar was here, the lid was threw
back on. It's just all this, you know, it's all subjective stuff,
right, But I tried that. I started putting some sun butter that
we don't need a lot of peanut butters. He was ground some sunflower seats
sun butter. Yeah, and I'd stick it down into the stump where something
it'd be very difficult without a hand, like hours to pull it out of
the middle of this decade stump and I've had several of those completely disappeared.
I've put. One of the weirdest things was I stuck an apple in the
middle of the stump. I put an apple on the end of a stick,
stuck the apple like stick through the core of the apple, stuck it
in the stump, put a trail camera up, and it stay out there
for I guess three days. Every night, raccoons on the trail, camera
all around the apple. But the apple was untouched, right. I brought
the SD card in. I think I brought the batteries into the change the
batteries out of the camera, and left the apple out there. I get
up the next day, I go walk the dogs, and of course,
typical Bigfoot story. There was no SD card, there's no batteries in the
camera. Something and take it a bite out of the apple still on the
stick. The apple was still on the state, just like I had it
in the middle of the stump. But it literally looked like somebody had just
somebody or something had picked the apple up and taken a big bite out of
the middle of the apple and put the stick back down in the middle of
the stump. Now, this apple was pretty nasty. It was. It
was going kind of mushy when I put it out there. Which is a
little fauxto from people. I told, you know, if you hang out
with I'd seen he replaces his apples because he didn't think they'll eat apples if
there there's a bad spot. They have to be like pristine apples for Bigfoot.
Apparently, well, I broke that rule and put a mushy apple out
and it was even starting to get a little bit of a mold on it.
When this thing took a bite that I took a couple of pictures of
it, and I think I sent it to Wayne. Wayne was the only
person that I sent it to, my co host on that Bigfoot podcast,
and I said, no backstory, nothing. He didn't even know I had
the apple out on the stump anything. I said, what does this look
like? And I think he texted back, I'll pair phrase, it looks
like you took a bite of then the apple, because it looks like a
human bite out of this apple. And then I told him the story and
he's like, oh my god, something took a bite out of that apple.
Dude. I'm like, yeah, no, I just it was weird,
man. And I've talked to people, you know, and they'll say,
I'm gonna we'll take bites out of apples. I don't know how a
deer would do that. I don't know how or why a raccoon could make
what looks like a human bite. I'll have to Matt, I'll have to
send you. I'll have to text you the picture shop. Yeah, yeah,
I want to see that. I want to see that. Yeah,
I've got him on my I've got him up on my Instagram bigfoot bks on
Instagram. If you guys want to see it there, you'll have to scroll
back through the grid. And they're they're on there somewhere. And I've even
done some videos of finding the apple and showing you know, the area where
the stump is and stuff. But it's it's just weird, man. And
again, I've never said, and we'll never say that a bigfoot took a
bite out of the apple. But you know, at some point even a
Knockem's Razors, a Knockham's raisor guy like me has to say, you know,
is Corasier telling me that it's a big foot? Yeah, I mean
when you just and I even had people say, oh no, that's that's
clear. They saw that. Yeah, somebody bit they some homeless person came
on your property, took one bite of the rotten apple, put it back,
yeah, and walked past my house to get to that area. Because
this area is probably I don't know, it's one hundred and fifty two hundred
yards from my house into the woods. Now, we did have. I
have posted a video of what I call methane doing dirt angels on my property.
Of all fact, it was kind of funny. I did find her
down there, but she was now. She was down there the driveway and
she was having a really bad day, so she had to spend the night
in jail. But no, she did not come completely onto our property.
So I don't know, man, it's just weird stuff. Again, I've
never said definitively it never will that any of those things are Bigfoot related.
But I mean the footprints that I've cast, I mean sixty yards away from
my house that are like, I don't know, fifteen inches with five toes
I don't know. And the one that I didn't cast, which is probably
well outside of those two. And there are pictures of those in the book,
by the way, if you do pick up Sasquatch and reached the truth
behind the legend. I do have pictures in there of some of the things.
I've never released those pictures of those cast footprints, And I'll tell you
one of the reasons I never did was because they were too perfect. I
have cast some horrible looking prints on the property and they turned out horrible.
They just looked like a big jumble mess of plaster, and I'm embarrassed by
them. Right. But I did a gig last year with Doctor Meldrum and
Cliff Barrickman and Michael Freeman out in Idaho, and we're sitting around after the
gig and we're having a drink and I pull up my phone and I was
showing Cliffs some of the pictures of some of the things I found on the
property, and Scrolls passed this picture of what I thought was a paradulity of
footprints. I'm hiking on the property one day. It was last summer or
summer before last, I can't remember. But anyway, I'm hiking on the
property. Danny and I are hiking. We're not doing anything Bigfoot related.
I didn't want to have any conversations about Bigfoot. I wasn't even going to
take my phone on the hike. I just wanted to get into the woods.
We were going to an area that we've never been on the property.
There's still places we have a hike here, and I wanted to go out
to this area and just hike and just enjoy nature. It's a beautiful day.
But it was supposed to rain, because we've gotten rain for like three
days and then it was supposed to start raining again, like that night we
had this one little window. So I was excited. Long story short,
well, hiking along, I crossed over this little low spot where it's not
really a creek that they were standing water that ran runoff on the spring,
and there was probably half an inch of water. And I go to step
and I look down and something immediately caught my eye. It looked like a
footprint. And I said, holy shit, how plenny is that? I
laughed out, So I laughed out loud. I said, I've got to
take a picture of this, because this is like a paradol to a footprint.
It looks so much like a footprint. So I take my phone out
of my pocket, and I started getting closer and I start seeing toes.
I see five toes, and then I start seeing how the front of the
foot or what I now think is a footprint, where the toes are are
pushed down even farther in, like the silty bottom of this little muddy area,
and then the back foot looks like it slid a little bit, and
I'm like, oh my god, that does look like a footprint. So
I took a couple of pictures, and of course Danny's yellow way when I
do it, bigfoot, we're just walking with a second. So I go
on and then I find some weird what looked like nest areas. In that
same area, I found some really weird like formations. We found a rock
stack in the back of the property. In that area. I put all
these pictures in the book in case you guys are wondering, Yes, you
can see those. But I'm showing this pipe to the cliff and he stops
on it and he says, what's this And I said, oh, it
looks like a pair of door to the footprint. He said, no,
dude, I think that's a sasasquatch footprint. And I'm like, are you
kidding me? He said, no, it looks like one of the best
I've ever seen. Did you cast it? And I said no, I
didn't cast it. I didn't have any casting material. It was in water
and it was going to rain more than how is this this comedy is?
And He's like, cast everything, dude, always cast everything. So from
then on I have never went out on the hike without being prepared to possibly
cast something, because we have found some nearly compelling stuff that would like footprint.
So yeah, it's really weird stuff, but that's you know, and
again we haven't heard any vocalizations. I mean, I did hear some wood
knocks. That was the other thing, right before I went on to the
Radium trip. And I went to Radium in October of twenty three, so
a couple of months before that, I had never heard anything that even resembled
a wood knock before. But allowing the porch to do my business at like
three o'clock in the morning one morning, and I hear like four power knocks
like bam bam, bam bam. Just it sounded like it's coming from the
same general area behind the property. I property on the other side of that
ridge from where you had heard the initial long distance Ohio Howell kind of sounds.
And never heard anything like that since before or sentence here on the property.
And then I get to Radium and I experienced some some wood knocks that
sounded almost identical to what I've heard that night. So I don't know,
man, weird stuff. That's what keeps me coming back there for sure.
What's going on here? Because you have your incident that happened as a kid
you had. You you've mentioned several things about you know, paranormal experiences,
a UFO encounter, and now you're a Bigfoot podcaster and you've got Bigfoot possibly
uh, I would say, most likely coming onto your property. Is there
something else going on here that's linking all these things together? I know you
said that you believe Bigfoot to be an animal, but do you think there's
something more to it than just that? You know? This is a question
that has come up over and over and over with other people, initially because
I had not had all the experiences on our land here that I've now had
and what I've had up in Radium. But this used to be something that
I would separate. Cops like to check boxes, right, everybody likes it.
Well, I think that's a general human thing. We all like to
put things in boxes, would like to check boxes if it makes sense for
us. And I used to separate all of those things when I would have
somebody on, like Darryl or somebody earlier on in the show. Many people
come to mind about seeing orbs and experiencing other even craft, in some cases
either directly before sometimes deer, and often directly after having sasquatch activity on or
around their homes or property, and I just say, Okay, we just
got a lot of weird stuff going on. I don't see a correlation with
those things. I don't necessarily think the orbs and or these possible alien craft
have anything to do with Bigfoot, because I don't think Bigfoot is an alien.
I don't think they're hopping through portals or any of those things. So
I just used to separate that in my brain. And the more I've talked
to people over the years and even now, I've had to consider it as
your question, is there possibly something more to this? And I tell you
I had somebody on I love UFO stuff. I've always kind of been into
the UFOs. I used to mix that stuff, and then I had to
start an entire new podcast called Paranormal OTYSEU that Wayne now hosts that I used
to host. I hosted the first I don't know, one hundred episodes your
show and Wayne took it over. But I had Pressing Dinnan on the show
and talked about UFOs a couple of times, and pressing there's a big UFO.
Guys were written tons of books on the UFO. Super cool dude,
but he is into some wild stuff, like really weird stories about UFO abductions
and long time you know, constant abductees and all these weird stories. And
I used to talk to Preston all the time and I would tell them telling
my UFO stuff that's happened, and seeing other alien crafts. On multiple occasions.
I actually had UFO experiences in Radium with two other people while we were
Sasquatch hunting doing Sasquatch research in October, and Preston kept saying, Brian,
everything is connected. He just say it over and over. Every time I'd
say something, I'd say, ah, yeah, that's weird. But I
don't think it has anything to do with that. Brian, everything is connected,
and he just drilled it into my head. So I don't know,
man to your question, I've considered that, and I think this is probably
what it is. I don't necessarily think that it's really truly connected. I
think there are such things as people who are I don't like to use the
words sensitive. I don't even know what the word is. I think you're
just more open to experiences. I think there's something in the human psyche and
in our brains. That gets turned off a lot of times when people aren't
in tune with the possibility of something greater than themselves, whatever that looks like,
whether it be bigfoot, UFOs, dog man, MESSI whatever. I
think when people are open to those kind of experiences, I think you're more
apt to have them. It's almost like the people who see UFOs are the
people who are looking in the sky. How many people do you see walking
around looking up right? Not very many, right. It's the same thing
with being in the woods. I'm guilty of it. I have to make
myself pay attention because I walk the dogs a couple of times a day.
It's one of my favorite things to do. We go out into the woods,
play, throw the sticks, throw the balls. It's great for everybody.
But I just get tunnel vision walking with them sometimes, and I have
to remind myself to look around, and every time I do, I see
something I haven't seen before. So I think it's just human nature that we
just block all of that stuff out. So you have to pay attention,
And I think if you're paying attention, you're more apt to have an experience.
I look up all the time. I was looking up when we saw
UFOs and radium, and I saw some of the most wild, crazy stuff
I've ever seen. I've never seen anything like what we saw. But if
I hadn't been looking up, I would have never seen it. We were
there doing bigfoot research, but I'm looking at the sky because it was beautiful.
So I think when people do that, I think you're more apt to
have those kind of experiences. And I do write about that in the book
You know, can't inundating yourself with watching bigfoot shows. And I had a
guy on, A couple of guys actually recently tell me if come on and
shared their experiences, and they're listening to my podcast and they have a bigfoot
experience while they're in the woods. They're listening to somebody having a bag food
experience, and then they have an encount is that serendipity? Is there a
connection there or that they created in their mind because they're listening to that.
I mean, there's a whole again, that's probably a whole another show,
for sure. I just think that. I guess the short answer would be,
I think the connection may be being more open. And of course people
have come out of the woodwork, not not too many but a couple of
oh, yeah, of course you're a big foot podcaster and you possibly have
bigfoot activity. What a shocker. And I struggled with putting some of that
stuff out because I knew that would be the reaction. But I'm old enough
now I really don't care what people think about me. I don't have any
reason to lie about anything. I don't have any reason to produce anything that's
not real, so I don't really care what those people say. But of
course it is obviously, you know, everybody's like, yeah, right,
wink, nod, nod. You know the bigfoot podcaster has a big foot
on this property. And I've never said that, and it may not be,
who knows, but I'm certainly convinced that something is going op. Can
you tell me about your UFO experience and Radium, Yeah, I'll make it
quick. It was I don't know if it was the second and third night
Todd and Ashley were there was another guy that was doing another sort of solo
hike up Radium Mountain and they were dealing with Jason because he had lost his
bag through Air Canada. It was horrible. Then he had to buy all
new equipment, but he ended up making the trip. Great guy, fascinating
stuff. I'm still trying to work out getting him back on the show so
we could talk about it. But in a nutshell, I mean, it
was me and Kyle Dshane and Richid Shane had is Kyle's dad. He flew
in from New York because he knew I was coming. He wanted to meet
me, and he wanted to go out and spend some time with the sun.
So it was like this perfect pairing of all these things. And then
Kyle came out and we went out the day before, Todd and Ashley joined
us at the camp. So we're sitting around the campfire and I look up
and I see these lights in the sky. Now we saw I guess it
would be we. I don't know what airport they would have been, flying
one from the other. There was clearly a path we would see airplanes.
It wasn't like a big flight path. We weren't seeing them all the time,
but you could see commercial aircraft. You could tell they were thirty thirty
five thousand feet right. You know what about where a plane looks in the
sky in relation to the ground of the fence around these things that I was
seeing I was estimating, and I probably said it on the shell a couple
of times, maybe eighty eighty five thousand feet in elevation. It was just
these little white lights, and the first one I saw, I was like,
oh, that's weird. And it was moving, dude, I'm talking
if if an airplane's traveling, you know, four or five hundred miles an
hour, I would estimate the things probably going fifteen hundred to two thousand miles
per hour. I mean it was zipping. So I see this light and
then we have a shooting star come across. We saw probably six or seven
shooting stars that night, and a meteor came over our heads into view and
exploded. Wow, it was just this. It was just the weirdest night
ever. But I watched these white lights and in and amongst all this other
stuff that was going on, the shooting stars, the meteorite that came over
at the media that came over and exploded. In all these colors, we
actually got Boden hocketars. I mean they weren't extremely helpful, but they magnified
it a little bit. I was watching these things through binocatas. There was
one, then there was four. I think at one time we saw as
many as twelve I was watching. I was watching this one in particular.
It was shooting straight up. Probably again I'm estimating, I have no way
of knowing if this is even accurate. Maybe fifteen hundred two thousand miles an
hour straight up. It stops on a dime and does an immediate left hand
ninety degree turn, probably fifteen hundred two thousand miles per hour. That was
what sold it for me. I was like, if there was any doubt
that I was seeing what I thought I was probably seeing in the beginning,
there was no doubt after that, nothing I know that nothing may made.
There was no person flying whatever this was, this little I mean, it's
still it looked nothing like just a ball of white, and some of them
had like a blue hue, almost just a perfectly round ball. There was
no human being flying it. They would have been crushed immediate. They would
have been dead. They couldn't have withstood those gees. There's no way it
was. It was incredible, dude, and we were just in awe.
I mean, and Kyle and Richard, I mean, they're you know,
they're certainly the sasquatched. If I think Kyle's had a couple of visual encounters
with Sasquatch, but he wasn't really into the UFO thing. But they were
amazed. They were just as amazed as I was. I mean we ended
up we didn't Sasquatch wasn't even on the braidar and we did hear a couple
of things later on at night. We heard a couple of like whoops and
some weird like vocalization things. I think we had some rocks on the camper.
But we were really enamored with the UFOs. That's how crazy this was.
How long did at last? Like how long were they visible? Okay,
I just probably I don't know, an hour we watched them? Oh
wow, Yeah, I mean it was. It was incredible, dude.
They would just go and disappear, and then another one would show up and
again. I think at most at one time in that general area in the
sky, there was probably ten or twelve that we were all tracking. I
mean we all kind of tried to take one and watch it through our binoculars
because we all have theinoculars to see what we could see and what it was
doing. We were kind of talking out loud, and it was it was
incredible. Man, I've never seen anything like it. So Todd Standing is
hoaxing UFO stuff. Now, I'm kidding, kidding, I'm kidding, jeez,
calm down. People don't send the dogs after me. I'm joking.
That's crazy, man. I would love to see something like that. I
had possible UFO siting whenever I was young that was kind of similar to what
you're talking about. And then I had a daylight siding with my cousin when
I I was around sixteen that you know, they don't know what it is,
but I too, am fascinated by UFOs and the paranorm and all that
sort of thing. Yeah, man, Bigfoot is number one for me,
but I'm definitely into the UFOs. The one I saw when I was sixteen,
it was now down. I mean, this thing was probably eight hundred
feet across and it was probably not more than fifteen hundred two thousand feet off
the ground from the moment I saw it, no lights, just this huge
like silver metallic craft. Nothing coming off of it but the moonlight, and
it was just floating through the sky, floated over the ridge behind her house
and disappeared. So weird to thing. What shape was it? It was
it was like a It's hard to explain. It was like oblong. It
wasn't the saucer type. It wasn't round, it was it's not really even
egg shaped it was. It was almost a shape if you take like two
ball caps and stacked one on top of the other, and the I guess
the the pat part of it is sticking up. That's it's almost like the
shape. It was no windows, no scenes, no rivets, no nothing,
just silver like beautiful metallic, so shiny that the moonlight was reflecting off
of it. No sound, and it wasn't moving very fast. It was
almost blimp like, I guess you could say, for lack of a better
word, about the speed of a blimp. And it just moved over and
went down behind this ridge and disappeared over the trees behind their house. Wow.
Yeah, strange man. Earlier you mentioned, you know, of course,
the Patterson film and the Freeman footage. I'm going to put you on
the spot here. Is there any major Bigfoot encounters or videos or whatever that
you think are fake? You know, I used to think the PG film
and the Freeman was probably fake, So I could say both of those,
and I tell you the only thing that really changed my mind about the PG
film is I did a really in depth breakdown of looking at I went over
to the Sasquatch Archives and I was able to get a hold of He's got
an interview over there, And if you guys haven't been to the Sasquatch Archives,
there's some really cool old stuff over there that you're not going to see
anywhere else. Most of John Green stuff that he passed on when he passed
away as over there. That's where a lot of that stuff came from.
It is a gold mine if you're into the subject. But I was able
to get a hold of him and he allowed me to use a portion of
There's an interview over there five Gentlin and Roger Patterson, five days after the
films Patty. It's a radio interview and it's about twenty two minutes or so
total, and that's not the whole interview, but it's a big bulk of
the interview. You get the jest of it. They're talking about what happened
just five days before on this interview and the guys asking them questions and they're
talking about Patty. They're explaining what they were doing, how they were doing
it, where they came from. It's all, it's just a little of
information. It's a gold Excuse me, it's a gold mine of information.
So I took that and then I found a you know, Bob's up there.
I think Bob just turned ninety one, and you know, he doesn't
do a lot of interviews anymore. He doesn't do a whole lot of speaking
stuff. So I went back to like twenty nineteen and I found a really
good interview with Bob and he's going through the entire story and he's talking about
Patty. I did find a few inconsistencies. You know, they actually filmed
Patty on a Friday, but Bob in twenty nineteen said it was a Saturday
or a Sunday. It was the weekend because the question came up because there
were some people logging in that area and working construction in that area, building
road or something. And Bob specifically says in twenty nineteen that they know that
nobody else besides then was there, so they couldn't have been hoaxed because it
was on a weekend and those workers weren't there. But if you actually look
at the date that they actually filmed Patty, it's a Friday wasn't a weekend.
I thought that was kind of interesting. That sort of stuck out to
me that how would you get the day wrong of something that was so impactful
on your life. It's probably one of the, if not the biggest thing
that's ever happened about it's very close to get the day wrong was a little
weird for me. But I think that was just more of a slip.
But long story short, I just compared those two inergies and I really looked
at what he was saying, and I took a lot of notes and compared
what he said then versus now, and I tell you I saw no deception.
Maybe he's just gotten so good over the years. I tell them the
story if he's not telling the truth, that he believes what he's saying,
So it's not really detectable as far as him maybe being deceptive by being that
stuff. So that kind of moves the needle on that. And of course,
having conversations with doctor Jeff Meldrimin, I mean, if again, every
time I've never talked to Jeff about the Patterson Gillen family, he is pretty
much convinced me that Patty is real, just based on what he saw in
the footprints in the cast that day, and then the Patterson or the sorry,
the Freeman stuff I was always questioned about. I was always questioning that
because it's very low quality. It's very hard to see. But when Michael
Paul Freeman's son, Michael did his book The Freeman Bigfoot Files last year or
year before last, when he did that book, part of what Doug's been
working on. Doug Kijak's been working on that for twenty years, trying to
enhance that film to the point of making it where it's actually viewable and you
can actually see some detail. He actually went out, they bought some kind
of software or something, some kind of editing program from the government the military
to get this done, and they put out that version of the film.
It's about twelve minutes. And Michael sent me that when I interviewed him for
the book last year, and I tell you, as soon as I saw
it, man, you can see this thing picking what looks like a baby's
asquatch up off the tree. I mean, you can see that in the
original, but you can really see it in the enhanced version when it slowed
down and its loops like five times. There's no doubt to me that this
thing is picking a baby off of the tree, a baby's assquortch is what
it looks like, and throwing it around its waist and you can see the
little legs down. I mean, that was convincing enough for me, I
think. But then having the conversation with Michael, that's what really And he
and I have become friends. You know, we text almost weekly. And
you know, i't believe it. I believe a story, and I say
his story. I'm talking about Paul because the day that he got that final
Michael said he was at home with a friend of his, one of his
good friends that slept over, and they were having a you know whatever and
whatever they were doing. I think it was maybe twelve to thirteen whatever when
this happened, and his dad came home so excited about what he had captured.
He said to me, Brian, I thought we were going to break
the tape. I was so afraid that my dad was going to break the
tape. And it was the only copy he had. Because he was so
excited, he made us watch it like fifty two times, this old VHS
sape, and I'm like, you know, that really suck. Into me
because even people who were on the fence and people said they were fake footprints
in Paul's collection, close got fake footprints, so was Melvine. Most everybody
who has any cast has fakes, and they know their fake. That's okay.
I think it's part of the data set. You have to find the
face to know what's real. Right. So Paul of course had fake footprints,
but a lot of people you know, have claimed over the years that
you know, Thomas Steinberg. I talked to Thomas about Paul, and he
used to be really in Paul's camp for the longest time, and now he's
just convinced. If you asked Thomas and I did I think he hoaxed stuff?
I think his stuff was hoaxed. And you know, I don't know
if he's moved the needle on that or not. But for me, when
I had the conversation with Michael about how excited his dad was, I thought
to myself, you know, if you're gonna fake bigfoot stuff, that's one
thing, But how many dads who care as much as he clearly cared about
his sons and his wife. Who's going to fake your family? Are you
going to come home and fake your twelve year old kid and his best friend.
I don't see that happen. So just that ended up itself. After
the conversation, I walked away just really believing. And again I talked about
the framing footage of the book, and Paul did have quite a few amazing
photos, and Michael was gracious enough to send me. I think he's got
four or five original photos from his dad that he sent me that I put
into the book. So it's if you're not familiar with this stuff, I
think he should check it out. I think the video is compelling. You
know, I have been a proponent of the Freeman footage since it ever happened,
and I'm the first one to say like, hey, you know,
I don't know that it's real. I believe that it's real though, I
always have. And if it ever turned out that that or the Patterson film
were hoaxed or whatever, that's fine. I can be wrong. It's perfectly
okay. I'm okay with that. But the story that you're talking about where
his dad comes home after getting the footage, I heard that story as well,
and that is extremely compelling, extremely compelling, because I agree with you
one hundred percent A father isn't going to come home and hoax his son and
his son's friend and his wife. That's just not going to happen. If
anything, he would try to hide it from them, I would think,
Yeah. And from what he told me about his day, and like I
said, getting to know Michael sitting around and having a beer with and just
talking about his dad and seeing how his dad operated and what kind of person
he was in real life, it just really solidified it for me. And
I am one hundred percent in the camp that this stuff is written. Again,
I'm like you, if somebody came out tomorrow and said, here's the
proof that it's faked, and here's the proof that the PG film is faked,
I'm okay with that. I'll be more than happy to be wrong.
I like to be wrong, and I think this is what the thing that
has really gotten to me over the years. It seems to be people are
so in the camp, but these things have to be real or what if
the Patterson Gimlin film is fake, the Freeman footage is fake, it does
not mean that Bigfoot isn't real. Those things can exist at the same time
they're mutually exclusive. You know, it can be real, and Bigfoot could
be they could have all died that it could have been the last one right,
or it could be faked. And there could be plenty of other sassquatch,
So any of those combinations of things can be true. I just think
again, everybody has to take what they want, leave the rest, and
decide what your truth is and stick to it, you know. And that's
the other thing that has come up about me in particular doing what I do.
And I'm sure you get this to Matt because your audience hears you maybe
go back and forth, and I think all intelligent people do that. I
think that's one of the things that you have to do. If you're looking
at the subject like this, you have to change your thoughts. You have
to change your hypothesis sometimes based on new information. If you just stick to
the same thing, and no matter what anybody brings you or what anybody tells
you, you just refuse to change what you think about it. I think
you're very narrow minded. I think everybody I talk to I get a little
bit out of those conversations, and people say things to me all the time.
Again, like I said, I was having a conversation with our RPG.
I had them on it, excuse me, a bigfoot roundtable over on
my show just to watch out to see, I think last week, and
he said something during that interview, and I've got to have a conversation with
RPG about it. He's looked into the Patterson Gimlin film extensively and he thinks
that those guys are smart enough to do either or he thinks they're smart enough
to effect it, and he thinks they're smart enough to have captured a big
foot on field. He's just not sure which it is. And I found
that compelling. So I got to get RPG on it again and have a
conversation. We're doing a gig here coming up in May and North Carolina.
We'll do it a speaking camp out things. So I'm in a corner and
when we're out in the woods, Esse and I and see if I can
pin him down to see what that cryptic message means about the PG film.
Well, yeah, I was going to ask you, Uh, what do
you got on the burner coming up? What you got some appearances coming up?
What's going on with the paranormal world productions in Sasquatch Odyssey. We have
all kinds of stuff coming up, man, I'll have that stuff posted.
It's on our social media now, so follow Bigfoot bks over on Instagram.
We've got all of the stuff on our grid. That's I think the next
big thing is in May. I will be out of the Ohio Bigfoot Conference.
I'm going to be hanging out with Cliff Barrickman, Doug high Check,
Matt Preuitt. I can't remember who all's going to be there. I know
I'm going to be at Cliff's booth. I'm going to be hanging out with
him. Cliff wrote the forward to Sasquatch Unleash the Truth behind the Legend,
So he and I'll be hanging out and signing books together there at the Ohio
Big Clip Conference on May the fourth, and then I think the next big
thing after that, I'll be down at the Great Florida Bigfoot Conference in June.
It's around June the twentieth or something. I'm not sure you can go
to gather up events and find out what's going on there. I'll be handling
the abortion the encounter's portion of that up on the stage and hanging out on
speaker road everybody. They've got a big lineup of folks that are going to
be there. I'm looking forward to hanging out with those oaks. Renee Hollin's
going to be there. I haven't hung out with the Nason's last summer.
She's a cool check. If you're into skeptics, She's definitely the skeptical scientist.
And then I will be in the UK. I'm going over there July
speaking at the Cryptid Conference UK. I think it's in July the twentieth or
something like that. I'll be over there in Somerset, UK. I think
there's still a few tickets left for that. If you're going to be in
the UK and you'd like to be a part of that, we'd love to
see you there. And then I'll be in the Smoky Mountains in July July
twenty seventh. I think I'll be the Smoking Mountain Bigfoot Conference. So I
think we've got another ten events coming up. I'll be speaking at one here,
the camp Out, like I said, and May I believe in North
Carolina. There's another camp out in Missouri and the Ozark Mountain Bigfoot Conference.
I'll be there. I think that's in September. I think that's the last
thing I have going on, so all kinds of stuff going on, and
we'll have books everywhere. Of course, you can pick up a book and
you can get those Paranormal Warldproductions dot com. You can go over there and
get all the lowdown the shows and if you want to sign a copy of
the book, I will personalize that and send it out to you and get
those right there on store. So start calling you the Prime Minister of Bigfoot
wear it man, busiest man in Bigfoot show business, Brian Sharp, thanks
so much for joining me. I've thoroughly enjoyed it. You're gonna have to
come back on again, man. I thought of all kinds of other questions
and things I want to talk to you about that, you know, I
didn't want to just put it all out there and keep you here forever.
But yeah, man, thanks so much for joining me in time. Met
