<v Speaker 1>Hey, everybody, I was muted.
<v Speaker 2>Welcome to gamest Mornings with Me Jeff Grab your host
<v Speaker 2>from John Bob dot com.
<v Speaker 1>Thank you for tuning in.
<v Speaker 2>In this episode, we're gonna be talking about everything that
<v Speaker 2>happened at that fantastic state of play and more, including
<v Speaker 2>whether or not Boom Boom has a soul it was.
<v Speaker 2>It's gonna be a good one because you're Jason Fonelli
<v Speaker 2>on the show. Jason, how are you doing?
<v Speaker 3>It is a Boom Boom Friday here now it's Friday
<v Speaker 3>the thirteenth, be ominous.
<v Speaker 1>You're Jason shit.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, you're right. That's the whole reason I'm here a
<v Speaker 3>shit shit.
<v Speaker 1>We have you on Friday the fourteenth too. It doesn't
<v Speaker 1>matter how you going, man.
<v Speaker 3>Buddy, I'm all right. You know, I'm still recovering from
<v Speaker 3>that state of play.
<v Speaker 1>It is.
<v Speaker 3>It is the semi regular. Say be nice to Jason
<v Speaker 3>day because Friday the thirteenth, Jason's got a bad rap
<v Speaker 3>and now which we've been trying to recover from it
<v Speaker 3>ever since. So give your give your local Jason a
<v Speaker 3>high five or or a shoulder rub, whatever whatever it
<v Speaker 3>is that you want. But no, I'm good. I'm good
<v Speaker 3>still come still coming off that state of play High,
<v Speaker 3>which we will very much getting get into on today's show.
<v Speaker 3>Had a very productive week. It was nice to get
<v Speaker 3>into that old school game journalism feel where you get
<v Speaker 3>a code on Monday at four and four pm and
<v Speaker 3>the and the embargo is Thursday morning at six am,
<v Speaker 3>and you got a mainline that motherfucker and I had
<v Speaker 3>a lot of fun. The review is still not up yet,
<v Speaker 3>it will be up soon. I reviewed High on Life
<v Speaker 3>two for Game Informer. I very much enjoyed that. But
<v Speaker 3>we could talk about that at the end of the show. Yeah,
<v Speaker 3>I'm fine, just you know, that's another weekend.
<v Speaker 2>We made it. How were you, Jeff? Yeah, we got here.
<v Speaker 2>I'm I'm still a little sick, but mostly feeling good.
<v Speaker 2>Take some pseuit of fed and then helps with the
<v Speaker 2>stuff he knows, And that's really the only thing I'm
<v Speaker 2>having other than some like sneezing and stuff like that.
<v Speaker 2>So I'm hanging in there doing all right. And then
<v Speaker 2>the suit efat gets me wired because it's just it's
<v Speaker 2>just crack. Basically, It's just it's like, yeah, it's basically
<v Speaker 2>just cocaine, and they're like, glad it helps with the nose.
<v Speaker 2>All right, I guess I.
<v Speaker 3>Haven't changed the formulas. It's the mid eighteen hundreds when
<v Speaker 3>they were using all kinds of wild shit exactly.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, it's it's funny how many like medicines were like,
<v Speaker 2>we have better versions of this, not sude fed. They're
<v Speaker 2>like all the other ones we've created since then are fake.
<v Speaker 2>You got to go back to the original ones. That
<v Speaker 2>is also used in methaan fetamine. All right, you're the doctor.
<v Speaker 2>But yeah, I'm feeling all right. The voice is gonna
<v Speaker 2>we'll see if the voice holds up. But uh, plenty
<v Speaker 2>to talk about. So if we hey, if we wear
<v Speaker 2>it out, we wear it out. But yeah, ga to
<v Speaker 2>glad to have you here. No, actually, I want to
<v Speaker 2>ask a little bit, a little bit about High on
<v Speaker 2>Life two. How'd you feel about High on Life one?
<v Speaker 2>I see, here's the thing. I don't know if I mean,
<v Speaker 2>I feel like I am the right person to review
<v Speaker 2>it because that sort of humor is right in my wheelhouse.
<v Speaker 2>That is the kind of dumb shit that I live for,
<v Speaker 2>stuff like Rick and Morty, stuff like smiling friends. And
<v Speaker 2>that's what the first game was. It's hard to go
<v Speaker 2>back and play now because so much of it is
<v Speaker 2>voiced by that dickhead justin Roylan, but he's gone now
<v Speaker 2>Squatch is doing their own thing.
<v Speaker 3>So they have High on Life two, which features you know,
<v Speaker 3>a whole different set of guns, some returning, some new ones.
<v Speaker 3>But no, I like the first one a lot. I
<v Speaker 3>like the the premise of it again, a wacky off
<v Speaker 3>the wall premise of selling humans as drugs to snort
<v Speaker 3>them or if they stort their rehaal and whatever it was.
<v Speaker 3>It's a it's a weird game with a lot of
<v Speaker 3>good laughs that you don't you think back finally like,
<v Speaker 3>oh yeah, that was really funny, and this game had
<v Speaker 3>the same thing. I enjoy them, I really do good good. Yeah.
<v Speaker 2>I remember enjoying the first one enough and now hearing
<v Speaker 2>one of the good things about this one.
<v Speaker 1>It's like, I could check this out. I you know,
<v Speaker 1>it's on Steam.
<v Speaker 2>I'll get it on the Steam deck and maybe play
<v Speaker 2>through some of it on there and see how it does.
<v Speaker 1>And it doesn't play it on there.
<v Speaker 3>It's humor for our generation too well. The first the
<v Speaker 3>first place you go in the hub world, they say,
<v Speaker 3>go to the marketplace and find the salesman guy from
<v Speaker 3>the previous game. And then you skate over there on
<v Speaker 3>the skateboard, which is a fantastic new addition, and you
<v Speaker 3>realize that the marketplace is a old school ninety style
<v Speaker 3>shopping mall that is completely direlect except for one store,
<v Speaker 3>the store that you have to go to. And you
<v Speaker 3>go up the escalator to where the store is, and
<v Speaker 3>right in front of you is the big anchor store
<v Speaker 3>of this Almost everything's closed mall, and it's a party
<v Speaker 3>city at a party city with nothing in the store.
<v Speaker 3>All the posters say in store closing ninety percent off,
<v Speaker 3>falling out the windows, and there's a guy stuck in there,
<v Speaker 3>and they make it sound like you could save him,
<v Speaker 3>and I still haven't figured out how to save them.
<v Speaker 3>I don't know how to open that door. I don't
<v Speaker 3>know how to get him out of there. It's a hysteric.
<v Speaker 3>There's stupid dumb stuff. There's a gag in this game
<v Speaker 3>that has to do with one of the most unique
<v Speaker 3>boss fights I have ever fought in a game ever,
<v Speaker 3>and the gag I'm still laughing about it three days later.
<v Speaker 3>It evolves an old school video game. Let's all say
<v Speaker 3>it just it's killer. It's something I'll remember fondly for
<v Speaker 3>the rest of the year fifteen hours ish to get
<v Speaker 3>through the game that is about I would say what
<v Speaker 3>I played, maybe maybe a little less than that, but
<v Speaker 3>I didn't do as much exploration because of the aforementioned
<v Speaker 3>of course mainlining.
<v Speaker 1>Yep, that's how it goes, all right, Well, you know
<v Speaker 1>this is a state of play.
<v Speaker 2>Recap's going to take a while. We should get into it.
<v Speaker 2>Let's explain ourselves. We're Giant Bomb Internet video game dufaces.
<v Speaker 2>We like to make stuff and we need your help
<v Speaker 2>to do so. Because we are independent games media. We
<v Speaker 2>are out here on our own, no corporate backers. We
<v Speaker 2>just have you because you went at the giant bomb
<v Speaker 2>dot com slash join and became a premium member. Many
<v Speaker 2>of you have done that. We're very thankful. It has
<v Speaker 2>ensured that we can keep doing what we want to do,
<v Speaker 2>and if you want to be a part of that,
<v Speaker 2>you also should go to giant bomb dot com slash
<v Speaker 2>join and become a premium member.
<v Speaker 1>We notice it.
<v Speaker 2>It means the world. It will get you ad free episode,
<v Speaker 2>it will get you grub Snack's premium. Chuck's putting together
<v Speaker 2>a whole page about all the other stuff you're gonna
<v Speaker 2>start getting here pretty soon, including marry me Tomadaci or
<v Speaker 2>the Tomadaci wife. Yes, you've got Abby. We got Abby
<v Speaker 2>Russell showing up to play Toadaci Life, and there's some plans.
<v Speaker 2>She made me make a list of characters I want
<v Speaker 2>to marry and I'm not going to spoil anything, but yeah,
<v Speaker 2>like it's gonna be quite the thing I'm really looking
<v Speaker 2>forward to. I love Tomodachi Life. This is this is
<v Speaker 2>a fantastic idea I am.
<v Speaker 3>I love that game too, but a part of me
<v Speaker 3>is is slightly worried to go back and play my
<v Speaker 3>old version because one of the mes who established himself
<v Speaker 3>is the official me of the late Satoru a Wata.
<v Speaker 3>Oh really okay, yeah, like that be sad he stole
<v Speaker 3>my wife from me. Yeah at one point, as you do.
<v Speaker 3>And so going back to that just being like, oh man,
<v Speaker 3>I miss you. This is a good way to to
<v Speaker 3>reconnect to someone who has passed but still at the
<v Speaker 3>same time damn.
<v Speaker 2>No, yeah, yeah, you're right. That has the potential to
<v Speaker 2>be like deeply emotional. I can imagine people why I
<v Speaker 2>have a lot of people in their lives at that
<v Speaker 2>time where if they were to go back to some
<v Speaker 2>saves and be like, oh man, this person I have
<v Speaker 2>not seen since then. I can see that in a Wada,
<v Speaker 2>I would feel that way about a Wata. Yes, this
<v Speaker 2>is a new premium show. Abby's going to be making
<v Speaker 2>content with us it is. This is the kind of
<v Speaker 2>thing we can do because we have your support. The
<v Speaker 2>first episode is going to be free, Jan yell at
<v Speaker 2>me if I'm getting anything wrong, and then it will
<v Speaker 2>be a premium only after that.
<v Speaker 1>So show up, watch with us, everybody. It's going to
<v Speaker 1>be a good time.
<v Speaker 2>As far as this show goes makes most weekdays, I
<v Speaker 2>Jeff Garu will help piece your gaming life back together.
<v Speaker 2>This includes breaking news and maybe even some of our
<v Speaker 2>own original reporting. For all these topics, I'll get.
<v Speaker 1>The input of a bona fide expert who will make.
<v Speaker 2>Me look smart. You are watching live on twitch Welcome.
<v Speaker 2>You can always listen to the show later on podcast
<v Speaker 2>feeds by searching for Games Mornings, or find the rssve
<v Speaker 2>on giant bomb dot com. You can also catch the
<v Speaker 2>show later with chapters and timestamps on YouTube.
<v Speaker 1>Hello YouTube.
<v Speaker 2>All right, we have a lot to get into, so
<v Speaker 2>let's start the morning mess with that PlayStation state of
<v Speaker 2>play from February twenty twenty six all the biggest announcements
<v Speaker 2>in games. Jason Finelli at game Spot rounded this up
<v Speaker 2>for us. We appreciate it, man.
<v Speaker 3>I sure did. Man, those galleries are wild West. We'll
<v Speaker 3>talk about that, go ahead.
<v Speaker 2>Yes, absolutely. So it was more than sixty minutes of announcements.
<v Speaker 2>They did have a fair share of first party games,
<v Speaker 2>but it was primarily third party games, and it was
<v Speaker 2>very exciting because I think they got everybody to kind
<v Speaker 2>of show up for this party and ended up with
<v Speaker 2>something that could have easily I think stood in for
<v Speaker 2>one of their E three showcases of your without people
<v Speaker 2>being too upset about it. I think people would have
<v Speaker 2>been like, oh, yeah, no, that was great. Everyone's just
<v Speaker 2>showed off their cool stuff, and PlayStation was like, you
<v Speaker 2>can do that here because people will be excited to
<v Speaker 2>play it on our system. That starts with let's get
<v Speaker 2>into it. Scars of Cosmora, which is the sequel to
<v Speaker 2>Cana Bridge of Spirits from twenty twenty one. It's from
<v Speaker 2>Ember Labs. As with the original game, it's you know,
<v Speaker 2>real time kind of Zelda Light game with platforming traversal.
<v Speaker 1>It has you know that pixel pixel pix are like.
<v Speaker 2>Art style, and now this game is only going to
<v Speaker 2>be on PS five and PC, where the first one
<v Speaker 2>was on PS four.
<v Speaker 1>Some I'm expecting even more from the visuals this time around.
<v Speaker 2>It is coming to PC and PlayStation five this year.
<v Speaker 2>Would you think of Keina? I think this is a
<v Speaker 2>great way to start the show.
<v Speaker 3>I agree. It was a nice surprise sequel a game
<v Speaker 3>that many thought might not ever come back. So it's
<v Speaker 3>just and the way that they sort of introduced it
<v Speaker 3>where it's just like the staff in the beginning, and
<v Speaker 3>it mentions a spirit. So if you're keened in on Keina,
<v Speaker 3>you're gonna know it's spirits. But if you're not, you're like,
<v Speaker 3>oh this this as Dan Reichert even said this looks
<v Speaker 3>like it could be a Metroidvania because we were all
<v Speaker 3>expecting the God of War Metroidvania and then all of
<v Speaker 3>a sudden you see her and you're like, whoa, that's awesome.
<v Speaker 3>I'm glad this game is get another shot. I'm glad
<v Speaker 3>there is another addition of this game coming out, because
<v Speaker 3>the first one is as somebody as ether Elixer Ether's
<v Speaker 3>Elixers excuse me, put in chat was a great PS
<v Speaker 3>two game, and that's complimentary. It definitely has that old
<v Speaker 3>PS two platform or vibe. But this one hard to
<v Speaker 3>glean exactly what they're going for from the first trailer,
<v Speaker 3>but definitely seems it's leaning more into the breath of
<v Speaker 3>the Wild style of Zelda, a little more open. You
<v Speaker 3>got a horse you're riding around that looks cool, looks
<v Speaker 3>looks cool. Very good way to start this off.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, you kind of hope like they made that first
<v Speaker 2>one kind of a you know, for an audience that
<v Speaker 2>could be broader And by that, I mean younger people
<v Speaker 2>could play it, and maybe those kids can grow up
<v Speaker 2>with this series now and this one could sort of
<v Speaker 2>mature alongside them. I could easily see that while also
<v Speaker 2>still filling that family friendly role.
<v Speaker 1>For you know, an action adventure game of this.
<v Speaker 2>Style, you know is I would definitely describe that first
<v Speaker 2>one as like double A, like not visually, visually, it
<v Speaker 2>was triple A. And that's that's a cool thing to see,
<v Speaker 2>and it seems like they're gonna be able to nail
<v Speaker 2>that this time around as well.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah.
<v Speaker 2>Then there was the free DLC for Ghost of Yota
<v Speaker 2>The Legends cooperative four player multiplayer that is launching on
<v Speaker 2>March tenth. It once again is going to take that
<v Speaker 2>single player ghost game and turn it to just something
<v Speaker 2>of a live service. I don't think that should scare anybody,
<v Speaker 2>because it's like it's something they're just going to make
<v Speaker 2>online multiplayer and support it for a long time. They
<v Speaker 2>kind of position it the first one as a like,
<v Speaker 2>here's the cool one to go hang out, hang out,
<v Speaker 2>a game to hang out with your friends in this
<v Speaker 2>one's like almost like a Destiny light. I'm getting the
<v Speaker 2>sense from like there's even more going on this time around,
<v Speaker 2>and I think the First Games multiplayer mode, First Games
<v Speaker 2>Legends earned that, and I think if they're going to
<v Speaker 2>build on top of top of it with this one,
<v Speaker 2>I'm ready to like check in and see what they've got.
<v Speaker 3>Listen. I agree with that, I do. I didn't play
<v Speaker 3>a lot of the first one, but of a Sushima Legends,
<v Speaker 3>but I love what I played, so I definitely want
<v Speaker 3>to get in here with a couple of friends. I
<v Speaker 3>like the demonic versions of the Ota six. That's a
<v Speaker 3>nice way to put a new spin on those enemies.
<v Speaker 3>But also I think other companies might look at this
<v Speaker 3>as a potential because they love their live service, right.
<v Speaker 3>They want to keep their their live service. They got
<v Speaker 3>to keep that constant revenue coming in. If Sucker punches
<v Speaker 3>onto something here where you release the single player game,
<v Speaker 3>you give those people what they want, and then you
<v Speaker 3>attach something for free and maybe throw some you know,
<v Speaker 3>cosmetic micros in there and support that with updating content.
<v Speaker 3>Maybe that's how you do the live service thing nowadays.
<v Speaker 3>You start, you build your fan base with a strong
<v Speaker 3>single player, and then you insert your live service into
<v Speaker 3>that single player, whether it's its own story or you
<v Speaker 3>just implement it into the greater story. Now, granted that's
<v Speaker 3>a slippery slope. The game has to have a definitive
<v Speaker 3>ending too. You can't have a game end in the
<v Speaker 3>live service part. That'll just piss people off they want
<v Speaker 3>to keep. It has to be like its own thing. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
<v Speaker 3>but I think this could be a blueprint depending on
<v Speaker 3>how well this performs on March tenth. And it's free,
<v Speaker 3>so anybody who owns the game can give it a shot.
<v Speaker 3>I think there's a lot to like here. Yes, it's
<v Speaker 3>just a gameplay.
<v Speaker 2>I agree with you that this is a little bit
<v Speaker 2>of a road map where there was a time where
<v Speaker 2>every game just had to have a competitive multiplayer mode
<v Speaker 2>built in, whether that was you know, just the local
<v Speaker 2>multiplayer thing you were playing on the GameCube or PS
<v Speaker 2>two or something like that in Xtbox three six ye,
<v Speaker 2>all the online multiplayer modes, and then that became like,
<v Speaker 2>why don't we just make our own multiplayer games stand
<v Speaker 2>alone and make those And then that became make big
<v Speaker 2>live service games, and that's what happened to Last of
<v Speaker 2>Us factions. I think everyone was just screaming, just put
<v Speaker 2>it in as a mode into the game. You've already
<v Speaker 2>sold us. We will play it, we promise, and you
<v Speaker 2>can maybe even like sell stuff in there. But they're like,
<v Speaker 2>it won't work as a standalone game, so we're not
<v Speaker 2>going to do it. And I think this is proving
<v Speaker 2>do it this way. This works. Death Stranding two on
<v Speaker 2>the Beach is getting its PC port already already. It's
<v Speaker 2>been a minute since that game came out last year.
<v Speaker 2>It's gonna be launching on March nineteenth. They promised all
<v Speaker 2>the fun graphical features you'll get if you have like
<v Speaker 2>a modern GPU, especially from Nvidia that includes frame generation upscaling.
<v Speaker 1>It will support all of the dual synse features on PC.
<v Speaker 2>This is you know, Nix is working on this, So
<v Speaker 2>Sony is like deeply involved this time around with the
<v Speaker 2>PC version, whereas with the last one, Death Stranded one,
<v Speaker 2>when it went to PC, I believe five O five
<v Speaker 2>Games published it for them and then it sold really well.
<v Speaker 1>So I bet this time.
<v Speaker 2>Around, when Sony was making the deal with koch Man
<v Speaker 2>to like, hey, let's get your game out this time,
<v Speaker 2>will help you with the PC version when you're ready
<v Speaker 2>to do it, and I bet everyone involved is like, yeah,
<v Speaker 2>that's a great idea, and here we are. It looks good,
<v Speaker 2>the ultra widescreen stuff. That's gonna be a good game
<v Speaker 2>on PC. I'm finally going to play it on there.
<v Speaker 3>I think, yes, about three months earlier than I expected.
<v Speaker 3>I thought I thought it would be like the one
<v Speaker 3>year anniversary put it on the PC, but no, we're
<v Speaker 3>getting it at nine months, just under nine months June
<v Speaker 3>twenty seventh. I think if a memory serves so, yeah,
<v Speaker 3>good for them, good for the PC port. I personally
<v Speaker 3>don't have enough time to play the PS five versions,
<v Speaker 3>so I can't. I don't know when I'm going to
<v Speaker 3>fit the PC port in there, though, being able to
<v Speaker 3>potentially play it on the Legion Go. Maybe I don't
<v Speaker 3>own a portal, so maybe there's I'll be able to
<v Speaker 3>check it out. I haven't played the first one yet, though,
<v Speaker 3>This is one where if I'm ever like having surgery
<v Speaker 3>at some point, I'm gonna like I'm laid out for
<v Speaker 3>a week. I'll just play those two, just just all
<v Speaker 3>the way through and get my Kojima fixed that way,
<v Speaker 3>because I don't want to play the second one without
<v Speaker 3>the first one, and I barely have time for anything
<v Speaker 3>at my backlock now, so I have to like sit
<v Speaker 3>and actually make time for it.
<v Speaker 1>We'll see, Yep, yep, that's it's a difficult problem. I
<v Speaker 1>know what you mean.
<v Speaker 2>For Loop, which is the game from Bad Robot Games,
<v Speaker 2>which is jj Abrams, it's a co op Rogue Light
<v Speaker 2>four player game. They have a pro probability map which
<v Speaker 2>just kind of looked like a the Rogue Light map
<v Speaker 2>you seeing in a bunch of other roguelikes where it's
<v Speaker 2>like you're going from node to node, but it changes
<v Speaker 2>each time. So that's why they're like, oh the probabilities.
<v Speaker 2>They're gonna have a playtest soon, and it's got cool
<v Speaker 2>looking enemy design, like a giant flying Rubik's Cube Boss
<v Speaker 2>or whatever. Hey, this is Hollywood coming back to games again.
<v Speaker 2>We've seen this kind of over and over. Does this
<v Speaker 2>one feel any different to you? I don't know, honestly.
<v Speaker 2>First of all, what's with bad Robot and loops?
<v Speaker 3>They love their flash forwards, flashbacks sideways that this is
<v Speaker 3>the people who brought us loss. Let's not for call
<v Speaker 3>j J gamebrams. I think somebody just said in chat
<v Speaker 3>I don't know, didn't really like it, didn't really hook
<v Speaker 3>me as much as I thought it might. Like it
<v Speaker 3>was cool seeing the grid, but every time I see
<v Speaker 3>a roguelike grid like that, I think of, like all
<v Speaker 3>the branching conversations in Detroit become human, and it just
<v Speaker 3>makes me think of David Cage, And I'm like, you
<v Speaker 3>don't want to do that, you don't think about it. No,
<v Speaker 3>I try not to do that. Johnny Cage is more
<v Speaker 3>like it. But I just I don't know something something
<v Speaker 3>about this game. I'll give it. I'll give it a chance.
<v Speaker 3>I try to give every game a chance. I cannot
<v Speaker 3>judge an entire game based on the way they look
<v Speaker 3>in these presentations, but that one did not quite grab
<v Speaker 3>me as much.
<v Speaker 1>As some others.
<v Speaker 2>Pragmata was the next thing that popped up from Capcom.
<v Speaker 2>We've been seeing this in a lot of places. Now
<v Speaker 2>feels like everyone's everyone sees it, like Nintendo, who was
<v Speaker 2>in their partner direct and it's like, yeah, this game
<v Speaker 2>looks pretty good.
<v Speaker 1>Everyone who's played it.
<v Speaker 2>There's demos down in a bunch of places, seems to
<v Speaker 2>come out of it talking about, oh, this is even
<v Speaker 2>better than I was expecting. We saw some more. It's
<v Speaker 2>coming in April twenty fourth. There's a demo available now
<v Speaker 2>on PS five. I am get in the sense that
<v Speaker 2>this one's gonna pop off. I think it's gonna find
<v Speaker 2>its audience. How about you?
<v Speaker 3>I do too. I think it's gonna sit. I don't
<v Speaker 3>want to say double A because it's Capcom, but Double
<v Speaker 3>A has like Triple A. Capcom has Triple A franchises,
<v Speaker 3>Double A franchises. I think Pragmda is going to fit
<v Speaker 3>in there. That's second tier that people love, right and man,
<v Speaker 3>this thing went from vapor ware to always there. Didn't
<v Speaker 3>it like we.
<v Speaker 1>Was going it's not a deep down Yeah, and no
<v Speaker 1>it is not.
<v Speaker 3>It's been in every i think almost every single presentation
<v Speaker 3>since SGF last year it's absolutely wild or whatever that
<v Speaker 3>I guess was the state of play just before SGF.
<v Speaker 3>But I everything, the more I see of this, the
<v Speaker 3>more it just looks like it's really going to get
<v Speaker 3>me in that sort of maybe even PS two PS
<v Speaker 3>three style adventure, like we talked about Keena the top
<v Speaker 3>of the show. Yeah, yeah, yeah, more more please Yeah.
<v Speaker 2>I think it's a big part of it. Also is
<v Speaker 2>like Capcom just seems like they have this strategy of
<v Speaker 2>we know we have Monster Hunter, we know we have
<v Speaker 2>Resident Evil, we know we have Street Fighter, and we're
<v Speaker 2>trying to like fit in these other like can we
<v Speaker 2>get Dragon's Dogma to be like sit up there among those?
<v Speaker 1>And it's like, well, it's it got close, but maybe not.
<v Speaker 2>It's sold really well, and it's well, they go back
<v Speaker 2>to another Dragon's Dogma soon, we'll see Pragmatic could.
<v Speaker 1>Fit up in there though, and it's like, or get close.
<v Speaker 2>And then it also feels like the kind of game
<v Speaker 2>where it's like, once they've got it established, I bet
<v Speaker 2>making these games and exploring this universe might be pretty
<v Speaker 2>relatively easy for them, so we get even more from
<v Speaker 2>from the space and I would really welcome that, and
<v Speaker 2>I think they have the potential to kind of have
<v Speaker 2>yet another one of these, maybe not load bearing franchises,
<v Speaker 2>but one that's the next tier down, like you were saying.
<v Speaker 3>And as as fire here at twelve thousand points out
<v Speaker 3>in chat, it's a new ip. I love when those
<v Speaker 3>do well.
<v Speaker 2>Yep, unless it's secretly a Mega Man game, which who knows,
<v Speaker 2>could still be Resident Evil Requiem showed up again. This
<v Speaker 2>is another one that's been in every presentation. Leon Kennedy
<v Speaker 2>got to actually shoot people this time on Like the
<v Speaker 2>Nintendo Direct, they did emphasize the dynamic between Leon and
<v Speaker 2>Grace where beyond the action star, Grace is the in
<v Speaker 2>the horror film where she's got to have deal with
<v Speaker 2>all this tension. They going back to a Raccoon City
<v Speaker 2>Police Department, right, Yeah, oh cool.
<v Speaker 1>That was neat.
<v Speaker 3>As soon as he was standing at that door. In fact,
<v Speaker 3>as soon as he got out of the car and
<v Speaker 3>he was in Raccoon City, I'm like, oh, he's going
<v Speaker 3>back to RPD. And then he's stand in front of
<v Speaker 3>the door and I'm like, oh fuck, it's going to
<v Speaker 3>lobby of RPDA. And then it just opens up and
<v Speaker 3>there's the statue, there's the logo there's I'm like, oh, yes,
<v Speaker 3>they just took that model right from the R two Remay.
<v Speaker 1>Gave it a nice line hot line, and plopped.
<v Speaker 3>It right in there, and I am here for it.
<v Speaker 3>Let's go.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah.
<v Speaker 2>The people were finally getting a pretty good sense of
<v Speaker 2>like the Leon stuff does seem to go out into
<v Speaker 2>the city onto the streets, and maybe that is.
<v Speaker 1>Slightly more open. Uh. There was some.
<v Speaker 2>Maybe not consternation, but definitely like, hum, this is reminding
<v Speaker 2>me of quite a bit of Resident Evils six. I think,
<v Speaker 2>like as Sean pointed out when we when they were
<v Speaker 2>doing the talk over, the good parts of Resident Evil
<v Speaker 2>six were the Leon parts, and this game does still
<v Speaker 2>have the grace parts that look like it's learned everything
<v Speaker 2>from the recent very scary Resident Evils that everyone really likes.
<v Speaker 1>So it's like, okay, you bounce between those two.
<v Speaker 2>I'm still I still think that they've got a strong
<v Speaker 2>handle on this and this game is going to really deliver.
<v Speaker 2>And I also think like there's an aspect of Capcom
<v Speaker 2>where they're like, yeah, we made Resieval six, and we're
<v Speaker 2>gonna kind of take that idea and do it right
<v Speaker 2>this time, because we know we could have always done
<v Speaker 2>it right, and this time we're gonna prove it.
<v Speaker 3>And I believe that Capcom seems like the type that
<v Speaker 3>likes to fix its past mistakes. And I think that
<v Speaker 3>the Launcher Street foot of five versus the Launcher Street
<v Speaker 3>flot of six is kind of a recent example of that.
<v Speaker 3>So I could I could definitely see them being like,
<v Speaker 3>all right, what worked from Resident Evil six leon, all right,
<v Speaker 3>just take that part out, put the Survival Horror as
<v Speaker 3>somebody else and call it a day. That makes sense. Also,
<v Speaker 3>I may have I may have noticed Grace like sneaks
<v Speaker 3>up behind an enemy and stabs them with that shot
<v Speaker 3>that she has all for liquor esque. What it looks
<v Speaker 3>like a liquor Okay, yeah, from Resides the little enemy,
<v Speaker 3>yes exactly, had like a head like I have to
<v Speaker 3>go back and look and see if I'm making that up,
<v Speaker 3>but like liquor shit, I wouldn't.
<v Speaker 2>Be be surprised at all that seems like they kind
<v Speaker 2>of like they're gonna be pulling out a lot in
<v Speaker 2>nostalgic strings. I mean, they're so much stuff from Residueval
<v Speaker 2>two is popping up in just these trailers. There's probably
<v Speaker 2>gonna be quite a bit of it, and I think
<v Speaker 2>that I think that they've earned the right to kind
<v Speaker 2>of go and trade on that nostalgia.
<v Speaker 3>If I am somewhere as Grace and they kind of
<v Speaker 3>already laid the groundwork with what they've shown already. If
<v Speaker 3>I'm like in or around Raccoon Police Department or somewhere
<v Speaker 3>in that city, and that Fedora wareing motherfucker breaks out
<v Speaker 3>of a wall and suddenly I'm being chased by mister
<v Speaker 3>X again, absolutely not. I know I can't do it.
<v Speaker 2>All right, Let's keep going here A Legacy of Caine
<v Speaker 2>Defiance remastered. It's coming to PS four and PS five
<v Speaker 2>on March third. It includes cut content from the canceled sequel,
<v Speaker 2>Legacy of Kane's been dormant for a very long time.
<v Speaker 2>This does feel like they're suggesting that it's something that
<v Speaker 2>they care about, maybe want to do something with. This
<v Speaker 2>was the last entry in that series, came out after
<v Speaker 2>Soul Reaver.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah.
<v Speaker 2>Do you think this is setting up more from this
<v Speaker 2>series or is this just like, oh, we know people
<v Speaker 2>like these doing that.
<v Speaker 3>That's a quick buck. There is death, definitely smoke. We'll
<v Speaker 3>have to see how much that fire is burning. But
<v Speaker 3>they are absolutely exploring new legacy of Knes. What that's
<v Speaker 3>going to look like, I don't know, But you don't
<v Speaker 3>keep going back to this well in this fashion if
<v Speaker 3>you're not at least considering putting something out in the future.
<v Speaker 2>We'll see, we'll see after the show. A legacy of
<v Speaker 2>Caine Ascendants got announced. This is a metroid vane with
<v Speaker 2>pixel art. It looked pretty good, Stars Caine, I believe, yeah,
<v Speaker 2>and it's yeah, looked really good.
<v Speaker 1>I don't know why I wasn't in the state of play. Oh,
<v Speaker 1>I can't.
<v Speaker 3>I can't imagine why. Maybe it's because they would have
<v Speaker 3>eaten the last announcement's lunch.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, it would have.
<v Speaker 2>It looked a little bit better than that game, at
<v Speaker 2>least visually speaking for sure. So yeah, that's cool. It
<v Speaker 2>looks like they're making that a going concern, which is interesting.
<v Speaker 2>All right, let's keep going Dead or Live updates. Dead
<v Speaker 2>or Live six last round. Eight years later, we're getting
<v Speaker 2>an up a definitive version of Debtor Alive six. It
<v Speaker 2>is gonna have visual upgrades, a photo mode, which no
<v Speaker 2>one knows why that's even in there, free to play version.
<v Speaker 2>It's yeah, it's gonna be yeah. Free to play. They
<v Speaker 2>had a teaser for the next Dead or Alive project.
<v Speaker 3>What do you make of all this as a as
<v Speaker 3>a fighting game fan? I thought it was absolutely surprising.
<v Speaker 3>I didn't think I'd ever hear Dead or Alive ever. Again, yeah,
<v Speaker 3>it was more dead than Alive. I liked that the
<v Speaker 3>teaser for the new game gave everybody what they wanted
<v Speaker 3>in rio hayabusa and a large chest. That's really that
<v Speaker 3>is the essence of Debtor Alive. Also, that sound you
<v Speaker 3>may have heard when that was announced was Turbo Shan
<v Speaker 3>launching into space. That was a that was quite a
<v Speaker 3>quite a good day for him. I was watching you
<v Speaker 3>guys last night on mess to sides and a smile
<v Speaker 3>on his face when you got to Dead or Alive.
<v Speaker 3>My goodness, pure joy coming out of that boy. I'm
<v Speaker 3>happy for you. Good job. I'm trying to think of
<v Speaker 3>the meme from EVO or Dead or Alive that you
<v Speaker 3>know that the reason why it wasn't coming to EVO
<v Speaker 3>or whatever. I can't remember the friggin joke, I really
<v Speaker 3>want to say it, so somebody helped me out in
<v Speaker 3>the chat. But yeah, good for them, good for deador Alive.
<v Speaker 3>Core values that's it. Damn it, damn it, damnit the
<v Speaker 3>core values joke shit. But yeah, dead or Alive good
<v Speaker 3>for you. Maybe I'll try it and bounce out like
<v Speaker 3>I always do, because like I'm just not good at
<v Speaker 3>them bounce.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah.
<v Speaker 2>This is a series that we killed, Jason, this is
<v Speaker 2>a series that is in that fighting game here of like,
<v Speaker 2>oh yeah, it could easily just be dead for forever,
<v Speaker 2>but it would be awesome if they brought it back.
<v Speaker 1>I'm glad.
<v Speaker 2>It feels like we're just on that side of the
<v Speaker 2>fence right now where it's possible for these companies to
<v Speaker 2>like go to the people who have the money and say,
<v Speaker 2>if we did this, people will show up. And I
<v Speaker 2>hope they continue to be right about that, because it's
<v Speaker 2>better when Dead or Alive is going right, it's better
<v Speaker 2>to win virtual fight is here, And if we can
<v Speaker 2>maintain that, that'd be fantastic. Maybe it happens so much
<v Speaker 2>that Capcom even brings back some of theirs that haven't
<v Speaker 2>been going concerns outside of Street Fighter.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, like a versus game. I would have said Marvel
<v Speaker 3>versus Capcom, but Tocon seems to be handling Marvel at
<v Speaker 3>the moment, so what's S and K up to? You know, Hey,
<v Speaker 3>there's a really cool fan project out there. Go look
<v Speaker 3>this up, Sega versus Capcom. There are some wild stuff
<v Speaker 3>going on in that one. I hesitate to bring up
<v Speaker 3>fan projects in the event that somebody official is watching,
<v Speaker 3>But really really cool trailers for that that I that
<v Speaker 3>I've seen cross my I YouTube path looks awesome. So yeah,
<v Speaker 3>the appetite is there, Let's see it.
<v Speaker 2>Come on, Let's let's get some Dark Stalkers back. Come on,
<v Speaker 2>let's make that happen.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, speaking of Bounce.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, you get some versus going on? Did you do
<v Speaker 2>street Fighter versus Dark Stalkers? If you need street Fighter
<v Speaker 2>to sell these games, I don't know that. Just whatever
<v Speaker 2>at this point. If you're not going to get if
<v Speaker 2>you're not going to get the Marvel license, do your
<v Speaker 2>own Capcom versus games?
<v Speaker 1>All right?
<v Speaker 2>Then a Control resident showed up. This is the most
<v Speaker 2>we've seen of the game. We've seen quite a bit before,
<v Speaker 2>but it is very clearly a different game than Control one,
<v Speaker 2>but with a lot of the same style, but unlike
<v Speaker 2>that one, the first one where it's like she got
<v Speaker 2>that cool service weapon and a bunch of like platform
<v Speaker 2>in abilities that helped her explore this world. This is
<v Speaker 2>a character action, melee sword based game, and it looks
<v Speaker 2>like they're they're going for it. They're making one of those.
<v Speaker 2>And I continue to be like, Oh, that's really interesting,
<v Speaker 2>that's it's smart, and that it feels so different. I
<v Speaker 2>kind of have to see how does this feel? What
<v Speaker 2>is how does it fit into this universe?
<v Speaker 3>What do you make of control resonant I. I would
<v Speaker 3>play this game if it was a walking simulator, just
<v Speaker 3>to be in that universe. I love the Control universe.
<v Speaker 3>The whole extended universe that Remedy is building just fascinates
<v Speaker 3>the hell out of me. But I really like that
<v Speaker 3>this character, it's Jesse's brother. I want to say, Aidan,
<v Speaker 3>forgive me, it's probably wrong. I like that he is
<v Speaker 3>getting his own identity. Excuse me, Aiden, I've watched Dogs
<v Speaker 3>on the Brain for something.
<v Speaker 1>It's just safe to assume a man in a video
<v Speaker 1>games named Aiden, I get it.
<v Speaker 3>Yeaheah, yeah yeah yeah. But he's getting his own identity,
<v Speaker 3>and that includes in combat. He has his own style.
<v Speaker 3>It's all melee based, and and this maybe where they're
<v Speaker 3>trying to pull in some of the Soul's people to
<v Speaker 3>get those to get that action RPG style of gameplay in.
<v Speaker 3>I am also looking forward to the day that, whether
<v Speaker 3>it's in Resident or in the future, control where the
<v Speaker 3>two mesh and you can either co op it where
<v Speaker 3>one's melee, ones ranged, or mission switch, kind of like
<v Speaker 3>what Alan Wait two did or what Residu will Rekrahem
<v Speaker 3>is planning to do. Where one your gun heavy, one
<v Speaker 3>you're melee heavy, and see how they meld together into
<v Speaker 3>another project this. I have a lot of very positive
<v Speaker 3>feelings about this one. I really do.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah. Absolutely.
<v Speaker 2>People are saying it had aspects of gravity rush and
<v Speaker 2>yeah you see that. We're like, it's kind of like
<v Speaker 2>manipulating the world a little bit to move himself. That's
<v Speaker 2>that's cool.
<v Speaker 1>That's uh.
<v Speaker 2>Crimson Moon, a third person action game half Angel Night
<v Speaker 2>Fighting Demons Sean said he thought it looked like Dark Siders,
<v Speaker 2>and it's like, oh, I see what you mean. People
<v Speaker 2>also described it as a video game ass video game. Yes, yeah,
<v Speaker 2>I see that is it were We're not sure exactly
<v Speaker 2>how the genre is going to shake out. Is it
<v Speaker 2>more souls like, is it a more character action, is
<v Speaker 2>it more RPG more Zelda? Not exactly sure.
<v Speaker 1>In this moment. But what do you make of this one?
<v Speaker 3>I the most notable thing I took from this was
<v Speaker 3>the heavy metal soundtrack. Was giving me death clock vibes.
<v Speaker 3>Oh sure, And anything that gives me death clock vibes
<v Speaker 3>is a win in my book. So that alone has
<v Speaker 3>to be interested. If they say that Brendan Small came
<v Speaker 3>out and did the soundtrack for this, heell ya, I'm.
<v Speaker 1>In all right.
<v Speaker 2>We got a lot more to get into from the
<v Speaker 2>state of play, but let's take a break. When we
<v Speaker 2>get back, we'll talk about more from that game freak
<v Speaker 2>game ray Man is back.
<v Speaker 1>We'll talk about that and more.
<v Speaker 2>If you want to skip out on this, you could
<v Speaker 2>do so. There's ad free versions of this show and
<v Speaker 2>all of our shows. You can go to giant bomb
<v Speaker 2>dot com slash join. There you get the audio video
<v Speaker 2>version of this without ads.
<v Speaker 1>Go do that.
<v Speaker 2>In the meantime, we will be right back. It's Game
<v Speaker 2>Best Mornings.
<v Speaker 1>We're back.
<v Speaker 2>I'm Jeff Grubb, that's Jason Fanelli. Let's talk about game freaks.
<v Speaker 2>Beast of Reincarnation another thing that continues to kind of
<v Speaker 2>pop up pretty frequently. It is not a Pokemon game,
<v Speaker 2>of course, it is coming August fourth. They are They
<v Speaker 2>make it very clear they are trying to go as
<v Speaker 2>far outside of their comfort zone as they've ever gone.
<v Speaker 2>And this is a studio that's made a lot of
<v Speaker 2>different games, not just Pokemon games, and frequently very good games.
<v Speaker 2>But we got a pretty the in depth look here
<v Speaker 2>and it's looking like, yeah, this is they've got something.
<v Speaker 2>I thought this looked fantastic in this specifically in this
<v Speaker 2>trailer one of.
<v Speaker 3>The highlights of Stay to Play. For sure, This one,
<v Speaker 3>all of a sudden, has all the juice and it's
<v Speaker 3>rising up my list of most anticipated games of the year.
<v Speaker 3>The most disappointing thing about it, honestly, was what ended
<v Speaker 3>up being that August fourth release date, only because it
<v Speaker 3>is in such close proximity to another game we will
<v Speaker 3>speak about later in the rundown. This, Yeah, the way
<v Speaker 3>that the character and the dog go together, the cute
<v Speaker 3>little moments of the dog, like shaking off the water
<v Speaker 3>at the end to this is going to have the action,
<v Speaker 3>It's going to have the story, and if nothing else,
<v Speaker 3>I hope this gets game freaked more projects like this,
<v Speaker 3>because every time they step out of that Pokemon bubble,
<v Speaker 3>you get a tembo. The Badass Elephant, you get a Harmonite,
<v Speaker 3>you get a pocket card Jockey, and now what could
<v Speaker 3>be their magnum opus to this point, you get a
<v Speaker 3>Beast of Reincarnation and that, Yeah, that's more of this.
<v Speaker 1>Let's go you know myself again.
<v Speaker 2>And of course there's just that where it's like they're
<v Speaker 2>gonna get all these skills that they could apply back
<v Speaker 2>to Pokemon games. If game if the Pokemon Company ever
<v Speaker 2>like opens them up and says, okay, now you can
<v Speaker 2>have voice acting or whatever. It's like, well, they have
<v Speaker 2>voice acting and Beast of Reincarnation. They have the skills
<v Speaker 2>and the connections to make that happen. Now, not that
<v Speaker 2>these games need to exist to make Pokemon games better.
<v Speaker 2>I just want to play Beast of forree Incarnation. To
<v Speaker 2>play Beast of Reincarnation, Sure, sure, ray Man thirtieth Anniversary Edition. Cool,
<v Speaker 2>we heard about this. It's real. It's coming later this year.
<v Speaker 2>Oh no, it's launching immediately. Excuse me. Includes multiple versions
<v Speaker 2>of the original game. There's an interactive documentary. This is
<v Speaker 2>a game that like, was pretty good. It was a
<v Speaker 2>pretty good platformer. It wasn't as good as the best
<v Speaker 2>platformers at the time, but it.
<v Speaker 1>Was pretty good.
<v Speaker 2>And then that's set up a franchise that had several
<v Speaker 2>awesome entries after that. Ray Man two was fantastic. The
<v Speaker 2>three D game ray Man Legends was great. Ray Man
<v Speaker 2>the one after that, I can't I can never remember
<v Speaker 2>the name of it, but yes, the other two D
<v Speaker 2>platform that was four player, very good. That This is
<v Speaker 2>a series that I've loved and I've been craving to
<v Speaker 2>go back to that original ray Man for quite some time,
<v Speaker 2>and here it is delivering this right now.
<v Speaker 3>Is Digital Eclipse involved in this at all?
<v Speaker 1>I don't. It seems like it, right. It seems like
<v Speaker 1>a Digital.
<v Speaker 3>Eclipse, just like one of their projects with the interactive
<v Speaker 3>documentary and all the different So oh they are, okay,
<v Speaker 3>you have confirmation it is then never mind. My confidence
<v Speaker 3>is restored, because if they weren't doing this and Ubisoft
<v Speaker 3>was just trying to do what Digital Eclipse does with
<v Speaker 3>their own game, I'd be like, But if Digital Eclipse
<v Speaker 3>was actually involved, then good. I mean that's great. Also,
<v Speaker 3>just nice to see a sign of life from Ubisoft.
<v Speaker 3>I suppose, yeah, considering all the news around them regularly
<v Speaker 3>and lately has been not great. So hey, they and
<v Speaker 3>they're thinking about ray Man. Maybe they're going to do
<v Speaker 3>this with other things in their backlog. We'll say, I'm
<v Speaker 3>not going to get ahead of myself, but good to
<v Speaker 3>see a sign of life.
<v Speaker 2>Yep, not backwards. Three Man Origins then ray Man Legends.
<v Speaker 2>Origins is just a name that doesn't ever stick in
<v Speaker 2>my head no matter what the series is.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, I think.
<v Speaker 2>And then there's also rumors that they are going to
<v Speaker 2>re release Origins and Legends. I'm glad they did ray
<v Speaker 2>Man thirtythen Diniversary Edition first. I hope you can get
<v Speaker 2>and go back. I hope they go back to ray
<v Speaker 2>Man two as well. Another really really good game, Mina
<v Speaker 2>The Hollower, has reappeared. This is Yacht Club's follow up
<v Speaker 2>to Shovel Night. A PS five demo has dropped right now,
<v Speaker 2>you can go play it. They gave it a Spring
<v Speaker 2>twenty twenty six release window, and everyone's like, what this
<v Speaker 2>thing was supposed to come out last year and you
<v Speaker 2>still don't have a date. Well, they followed that up
<v Speaker 2>with a little bit more information. They said that we
<v Speaker 2>will have a date very soon. We are just waiting
<v Speaker 2>for the game to be fully submitted and certified by
<v Speaker 2>all of the platform holders, so we don't have any surprises.
<v Speaker 2>Once that is all locked in stone, then you'll know
<v Speaker 2>and the game will come out. So this thing is
<v Speaker 2>coming soon. Every time I've played it, I've enjoyed it.
<v Speaker 2>In that last demo that I played, the last sort
<v Speaker 2>of preview that they gave me, that was the best
<v Speaker 2>version yet.
<v Speaker 1>So it just keeps getting better. I know you're a
<v Speaker 1>fan as well.
<v Speaker 3>Yes, yes, I think this one's gonna explode. I really
<v Speaker 3>really do. I think whatever happened to make it miss
<v Speaker 3>It's Halloween twenty twenty five was unfortunate, But I think
<v Speaker 3>the game is gonna I'm hoping it's something they thought
<v Speaker 3>of that would be really cool and just couldn't put
<v Speaker 3>the idea down. But yeah. The press release also says
<v Speaker 3>that it has more total screens like individual screens, than
<v Speaker 3>the entirety of the shovel Night Treasure Trove. That is
<v Speaker 3>a massive game, and I think this is going to
<v Speaker 3>be one of those games that people talk about for
<v Speaker 3>a very long time. Yacht Club putting that expertise of
<v Speaker 3>knowing the essence of the retro game into a style
<v Speaker 3>of retro game like the old Zelda's The Links Awakenings
<v Speaker 3>and things like that, but with the difficulty ratcheted up. Yeah,
<v Speaker 3>this is gonna be a fun one.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah.
<v Speaker 2>If I had to throw out an uninformed guess at
<v Speaker 2>what happened, I would say the people making the game
<v Speaker 2>played Silk Song and they went, we can make this
<v Speaker 2>even better, Like we can go back the Hollower even
<v Speaker 2>better and really appeal to that same audience. And if
<v Speaker 2>we do, maybe we get a little bit of that
<v Speaker 2>shine as well. And I bet they're right. If they
<v Speaker 2>can get close to that, they can kind of have
<v Speaker 2>establish those same feelings of this little cute mouse being
<v Speaker 2>lost in a strange, like a harsh world and having
<v Speaker 2>all these cool abilities to overcome that world, which is
<v Speaker 2>kind of what they've set up there.
<v Speaker 1>I'm into it. I continue to love the Game Boy
<v Speaker 1>Color Aesthetic.
<v Speaker 2>Neva Neva Prologue Prologue chapter launches February nineteenth. It does
<v Speaker 2>require the base game, adds narrative context to that twenty
<v Speaker 2>twenty four release, which was it did pretty well as
<v Speaker 2>in Indiana, I remember people really liking that game.
<v Speaker 1>It reviewed really well to my memory.
<v Speaker 2>This is DLC though it's an expansion, and by the
<v Speaker 2>name Prologue, I'm assuming it is setting up the original story,
<v Speaker 2>but maybe there's even more context there as well DLC
<v Speaker 2>for indie games, I usually don't check it on checking
<v Speaker 2>on DLC overall, maybe especially for indie games.
<v Speaker 1>So what do you make of this?
<v Speaker 3>It has to be a game that grabbed me the
<v Speaker 3>first time if I'm going to go back and try
<v Speaker 3>the DLC, and luckily for Nomada never was one of them.
<v Speaker 3>So I am one of the most visually stunning games
<v Speaker 3>I've ever played. A nice, a good emotional story about partnership, friendship, parent, parenthood. However,
<v Speaker 3>you want to look at it to see how the
<v Speaker 3>relationship between the human and the dog wolf came to
<v Speaker 3>be through this, I think I'm going to check that out.
<v Speaker 3>Because Nomada also made Grease, So if you never played Nava,
<v Speaker 3>that's the kind of emotional weight you're getting into. If
<v Speaker 3>you ever played Grease, what the hell are you doing? Yeah,
<v Speaker 3>this one's on my radar.
<v Speaker 1>Then Yako or Yako Chanobi ops.
<v Speaker 2>It's an isometric ninja action game launching twenty twenty seven,
<v Speaker 2>has a very tactical look to it. It is something
<v Speaker 2>of a hybrid between a stealth action game and a
<v Speaker 2>tactical game. It you know, people saw this and we're like, oh,
<v Speaker 2>there's this like a tenshow and then kind of the
<v Speaker 2>camera pulls out and there was I think there were
<v Speaker 2>maybe even hexagons or something like that, but at the
<v Speaker 2>very least there was this vision cone of like you
<v Speaker 2>can only see where the ninja can actually see, and
<v Speaker 2>then you maybe can hear things outside of that, and
<v Speaker 2>you need to use that information to make informed decisions
<v Speaker 2>in the moment about how you're going to move your
<v Speaker 2>an injure through that world. I think seems pretty cool,
<v Speaker 2>but I think it was hard for people to grow
<v Speaker 2>exactly what was happening in the game.
<v Speaker 1>What'd you make of this one?
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, Jacko shanoby ops, not to be confused with whacko
<v Speaker 3>shanovy apps or dot shnovy ops. There's if you get
<v Speaker 3>that joke, it's time for your annual. It's the only
<v Speaker 3>game I think from the entire presentation that said twenty
<v Speaker 3>seven right, that's right, So I think what you see there.
<v Speaker 3>I think a lot of people were down on this
<v Speaker 3>just because of how like gritty and gross, like like
<v Speaker 3>it didn't look technically sound right, had a little bit
<v Speaker 3>of a weird like Glitchie whatever to it. But twenty
<v Speaker 3>twenty seven we have time, So I think what they're
<v Speaker 3>going for is pretty cool, especially if you can use
<v Speaker 3>those different units in succession. Right, if you have to
<v Speaker 3>choose one, maybe it's a little not as interesting, but
<v Speaker 3>if you have to, like if you can use the
<v Speaker 3>ninja to go up on the rooftops, then the big
<v Speaker 3>guy to break the wall to give him access, you
<v Speaker 3>know what I mean, and they all kind of work
<v Speaker 3>in concert with each other. That could be really cool.
<v Speaker 3>But right now, just based off of a minute of gameplay,
<v Speaker 3>hard to really like you said, see what's going on there.
<v Speaker 2>Then there was Project Windless, a third person action game
<v Speaker 2>starring a dual wielding warrior rooster. It's from crafton Montreal.
<v Speaker 2>This is you know, that's the pub g company. And
<v Speaker 2>it was just this giant fucker chicken guy just slamming
<v Speaker 2>through crowds of dudes with swords.
<v Speaker 1>Like he was nine feet tall.
<v Speaker 2>And then it's just a thousand normal dudes standing in
<v Speaker 2>front of them, and he just it was melting him.
<v Speaker 1>It looked like a lot of fun.
<v Speaker 3>Kentucky Fried and bad assery in this game. It's got
<v Speaker 3>a cool do not run a foul of this motherfucker.
<v Speaker 3>It's it's It's based on a South Korean novel series
<v Speaker 3>called The Bird that Drinks Tears. So he's an edge
<v Speaker 3>lord too liberal tears. All right, I know that. Yeah,
<v Speaker 3>it looked awesome, and they knew, they knew that their
<v Speaker 3>hero was going to set off some alarm bells in
<v Speaker 3>the greater community because they waited. They showed him slashing people,
<v Speaker 3>they showed him bad don't be at all bad ass.
<v Speaker 3>And then he drops in and everyone's like, holy shit,
<v Speaker 3>it's a bird. Holy shit, it's a rooster and said
<v Speaker 3>go birds. That's correct. Yeah, this looks fun, it looks
<v Speaker 3>it's I'll probably play it just for to be able
<v Speaker 3>to say, you know, reckon fools as a chicken. But
<v Speaker 3>if the if a over exaggerated Southern colonel is not
<v Speaker 3>the final boss, what the fuck are we doing here?
<v Speaker 2>Yes, like you should be stealing and destroying the secret
<v Speaker 2>like recipe or whatever the eleven Herbs and Spices.
<v Speaker 3>Oh my god, the bosses of the Eleven Herbs and Spices.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah there man, cut the check. Uh. I'll tell you what.
<v Speaker 1>If this game just.
<v Speaker 2>Started, dude, I would have been like, okay, but this
<v Speaker 2>really stands out because of this chicken. Then we got
<v Speaker 2>Star Wars Galactic Racer, which looked fantastic. The couple things
<v Speaker 2>here we knew it was from many of the former
<v Speaker 2>people who worked at Criterion.
<v Speaker 1>It looks like Burnout exactly.
<v Speaker 2>It looks exactly like Burnout, but with Star Wars vehicles.
<v Speaker 1>And then there was also not a hint.
<v Speaker 2>There was a straight pay we're gonna have cut scenes
<v Speaker 2>of the characters interacting with one another. There's gonna be
<v Speaker 2>something else going on in the story. So there's that
<v Speaker 2>aspect of it. It's like, okay, so so if you
<v Speaker 2>care about this universe, there's gonna be more for you.
<v Speaker 2>But I just liked it when the cars ran into
<v Speaker 2>each other and one yeah, exploded, one off the track,
<v Speaker 2>it looked fantastic.
<v Speaker 1>How'd you feel about this? Man?
<v Speaker 3>What a difference from episode one Racer on N sixty four.
<v Speaker 3>Am I right? Yeah, shit, this looks awesome. It is
<v Speaker 3>exactly what our young brains imagined a pod racing game
<v Speaker 3>could be right back when we first saw them on
<v Speaker 3>the main screen. Again, nothing against the N sixty four game,
<v Speaker 3>but this, this is what our imaginations had Ben Quatenaro's
<v Speaker 3>citing at the end, there, yes, that motherfucker showing up
<v Speaker 3>in his little pod racer. Yeah, this this one, man,
<v Speaker 3>I could see this being like this is gonna be
<v Speaker 3>weird to say, but like the racer that Mario Kark
<v Speaker 3>wanted to be, Like, this is going to get the
<v Speaker 3>racing hype that Mario Clark should have had.
<v Speaker 2>I just I just think if they can capture that
<v Speaker 2>burnout spirit, they're like we've been you know, Forts Horizon
<v Speaker 2>is one thing, but it is trying to be a
<v Speaker 2>different game. If this is just gonna be you feel
<v Speaker 2>like a burnout But with cool Star Wars vehicles, they're
<v Speaker 2>so far ahead of the curve. In a world where
<v Speaker 2>the arcade racer is resurgent, this could like stand on
<v Speaker 2>top of that heap in a very noticeable way.
<v Speaker 1>So I'll show up for this.
<v Speaker 2>I hope it delivers on these promises because that is
<v Speaker 2>a lot of big promises and it looks it looks like.
<v Speaker 3>It could's some's there some story elements going on there too.
<v Speaker 3>The drivers were yelling at each other, so I wonder
<v Speaker 3>if you customize your driver, that would be fun.
<v Speaker 1>Right exactly how is that going to work?
<v Speaker 2>I mean, you know, or if you do pick Ben Guadanaros, Like,
<v Speaker 2>are you going to be in a situation where he
<v Speaker 2>has his own campaign and his own reasons for racing.
<v Speaker 1>That could be a lot of fun.
<v Speaker 2>Like, I don't know if they're going to make that
<v Speaker 2>much content, but whatever, even if they kind of have
<v Speaker 2>one story and the character just slots in there, I'll
<v Speaker 2>take it.
<v Speaker 1>It could be fun.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, man, that'll be fun.
<v Speaker 2>Double seven first Light, we were seeing that even more
<v Speaker 2>of this it's launching May twenty seventh, feels very Pitman
<v Speaker 2>meats Bond, which is what we were expecting from the game.
<v Speaker 2>I think I think they're going to be able to
<v Speaker 2>deliver on this for an audience that really likes Hitman
<v Speaker 2>and or really likes James Bond. But it also when
<v Speaker 2>you have this licensed ipe and you make a big
<v Speaker 2>Triple A game, you kind of have to reach a
<v Speaker 2>broader audience. Do you think has the potential to kind
<v Speaker 2>of win over new fans?
<v Speaker 3>It might, but unfortunately, I think to do that, you're
<v Speaker 3>gonna have to distance yourself from Hitman. I think people
<v Speaker 3>when they think of James Bond, they think of the
<v Speaker 3>dashing Debonair secret agent and all that, and there is
<v Speaker 3>some connective tissue between Hitman and James Bond. But it's
<v Speaker 3>not complete. Like Hitman is a cold calculating assassin. He's
<v Speaker 3>only there to kill people. Double O seven has other
<v Speaker 3>things that he does. He is stealing intel's delivered, He's
<v Speaker 3>meeting with, you know, high profile contacts. He likes his
<v Speaker 3>Martiniz shaken, not stirred. I don't even know if Age
<v Speaker 3>forty seven drinks. We don't know. So he's never had
<v Speaker 3>food or beverages. He sustains himself on the blood of
<v Speaker 3>his targets. That's it, right, that's why, so Pale, it's
<v Speaker 3>it's I don't know. A fart of me is like,
<v Speaker 3>I want this game just come out already, because there's
<v Speaker 3>been so many trailers and cover so much coverage of
<v Speaker 3>it since like June. But at the same time, there's
<v Speaker 3>a small hesitation that Io cannot get far enough away
<v Speaker 3>from its Hitman DNA to make this the Bond game
<v Speaker 3>that it needs to be. But we'll see.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, I think it's gonna be a lot of lessons
<v Speaker 2>learned making this game, and I think that those lessons
<v Speaker 2>learned will be evident on the screen when people are
<v Speaker 2>playing it, being like, oh, they got pretty close to
<v Speaker 2>what they were going for, and this is good or fine,
<v Speaker 2>but next time around, And I hope it just does
<v Speaker 2>well enough to justify that next time around, because you know,
<v Speaker 2>I think it's gonna be a I think it's gonna
<v Speaker 2>be a good game. I just don't it's hard to
<v Speaker 2>imagine it being a fantastic great Game of the Year
<v Speaker 2>candidate or something like that. Sure, metal Gear Solid Master
<v Speaker 2>Collection Volume two finally getting announced. This is something that's
<v Speaker 2>obviously we knew had to be coming. They called the
<v Speaker 2>first one volume one. It didn't have Metal Gear Solid For,
<v Speaker 2>but there was always questions because middle Gear Solid For
<v Speaker 2>has never left the PS three three until now. Metal
<v Speaker 2>Gear Solid four is now going to be playable on
<v Speaker 2>a bunch of different platforms along with peace Walker. It's
<v Speaker 2>coming in August twenty seventh. They are also including the
<v Speaker 2>game Boy Color game. Yes, Ghost babbel Is it's known
<v Speaker 2>in many territories. And then there was like, you know,
<v Speaker 2>a bunch of other bonuses and stuff like that. That's
<v Speaker 2>a pretty darn good collection obviously, though, middle Gear Solid
<v Speaker 2>For being the Star Attractioneer finally getting to play that
<v Speaker 2>outside the PS three.
<v Speaker 3>So I had a meme in my head as soon
<v Speaker 3>as I saw this about for the scene from Whacking
<v Speaker 3>Day The Simpsons where they let the snakes out born
<v Speaker 3>Free is free is the wind blow and I just
<v Speaker 3>see Solid Snake running along with them. He's finally free,
<v Speaker 3>his final adventure is finally free, and I cannot wait
<v Speaker 3>for the modern audience to get I loved Metal Gear
<v Speaker 3>Solid four absolutely, without a doubt, one of my favorite
<v Speaker 3>games of all time. One of the most underrated soundtracks
<v Speaker 3>to The soundtrack in that game is Absolute Divine Still
<v Speaker 3>one repeat to this day, what seventeen nearly eighteen years later,
<v Speaker 3>twenties by the time it comes out twenty twenty six
<v Speaker 3>to see it finally get it to do and be
<v Speaker 3>included in this remaster and revisiting this franchise is super
<v Speaker 3>super cool. Peace Walker has been adapted before, so I'm
<v Speaker 3>not quite as excited about that one. Ghost Babble's really cool.
<v Speaker 3>Some weird exclusions in Acid and portable ops. A lot
<v Speaker 3>of people have mentioned. I feel like that one could be.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, there's a volume three in the works, probably then yeah.
<v Speaker 3>Or sure, so maybe that's where they'll show up. They
<v Speaker 3>have to save something for the volume three. They want
<v Speaker 3>to keep selling these things. But man, as soon as
<v Speaker 3>I saw that old Mustachio Snake on my screen. I'm like,
<v Speaker 3>I can't believe it finally out of purgatory and I
<v Speaker 3>can't wait to fight again because.
<v Speaker 2>I will absolutely did Uh yeah, Twin Sticks. Didn't Nintendo publish.
<v Speaker 1>That or or I wonder how I would have to
<v Speaker 1>be involved on that?
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, I think they would. I think they would have
<v Speaker 3>to be because I feel like they, excuse me, specifically
<v Speaker 3>commissioned that game for the GameCube to be MGS one
<v Speaker 3>in MGS two's engine, So there would have to be
<v Speaker 3>some sort of conversation there. But it's possible, especially since
<v Speaker 3>this is on switch to So maybe Twin Snakes is
<v Speaker 3>coming down the line, who knows.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, if you get Twin Snakes and yeah, Middle Gear
<v Speaker 2>Solid Rising Revenge, Yeah yeah, yeah you get five. Why
<v Speaker 2>not put five in a collection with all these other games?
<v Speaker 2>I know people, Yeah, put Survive in there. Sure you
<v Speaker 2>got yourself? Maybe a volume three and volume four at
<v Speaker 2>that point?
<v Speaker 1>All right?
<v Speaker 2>Then they teased some more Metal Gear Solid stuff. Dan
<v Speaker 2>Reiker was debated by Darwin's Paradox. Yeah, that Octopus Stealth
<v Speaker 2>Adventure that is going to have a homage to Metal
<v Speaker 2>Gear Solid in it. I thought it looked really cute.
<v Speaker 2>I liked it a lot that Octopus moves around in
<v Speaker 2>a fun way. But of course people are like, oh man,
<v Speaker 2>I was expecting something more and it was.
<v Speaker 1>It was the Octopus game.
<v Speaker 2>But I got to say, Konami though, so far in
<v Speaker 2>the state of play at this point, I was like, Wow,
<v Speaker 2>they're really showing up, and they're kind of showing that they're.
<v Speaker 1>Still doing that thing that they did with Deliver at.
<v Speaker 2>All Costs, where it's like we're working with our old
<v Speaker 2>properties and then we're going out and searching for kind
<v Speaker 2>of double a indie games that we want to work
<v Speaker 2>with and really show off. And that's fantastic. I thought,
<v Speaker 2>this is a really good sign out of Konami.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, I did not expect a Konami direct within my
<v Speaker 3>state of play, but it turned out, as we'll continue
<v Speaker 3>to discuss, it turned out to be a really cool surprise.
<v Speaker 3>If Konami wasn't back before, they're back now, right, they
<v Speaker 3>are back in the saddle. As far as Darwin's paradox
<v Speaker 3>is concerned, I thought that was a nice little bait
<v Speaker 3>and switch. I think this game looks really cool. It's
<v Speaker 3>about time somebody challenges the throne of best Octopus in
<v Speaker 3>video games currently occupied by Octo Dad. I don't know
<v Speaker 3>if he's gonna get there, because opto Dad is hard
<v Speaker 3>to top, but I'm gonna try this demo.
<v Speaker 1>I think you too.
<v Speaker 3>I think this is definitely worth taking a look at
<v Speaker 3>for pure silliness alone. But if it teaches you how
<v Speaker 3>the game is gonna play in this silly context, that's
<v Speaker 3>a really smart idea.
<v Speaker 1>Yep.
<v Speaker 2>And yeah, Konami not even halfway done in this state
<v Speaker 2>of play. Up next, the long rumored, long awaited return
<v Speaker 2>to Castlevania, Belmont's Curse, a two D action platformer developed
<v Speaker 2>by Evil Empire and then with support and consultation from
<v Speaker 2>Motion Twin, both of which worked on Dead Cells in
<v Speaker 2>a variety of ways. So it's a bunch of Dead
<v Speaker 2>Cells people showing up and helping Casylvania out with this.
<v Speaker 2>There was Castlevania DLC in Dead Cells, right, so here
<v Speaker 2>you go. That led to this. This game is launching
<v Speaker 2>later this year, and I thought it looked really good.
<v Speaker 3>Definitely leads lends credence to the thought that the Castlevania
<v Speaker 3>DLC for Dead sales was a trial run for a
<v Speaker 3>full on Castlevania adventure. And yes, I am here for it.
<v Speaker 3>It also shows a willingness by Konami to realize the
<v Speaker 3>wealth of IP they have, and if they can't think
<v Speaker 3>of an idea, then they should find studios that can.
<v Speaker 3>Seeing Motion Twin and Evil Empire, the Rogue Prince of
<v Speaker 3>Persia and dead Sales people in this trailer gave me
<v Speaker 3>way more confidence than just seeing the Castlevania logo. More
<v Speaker 3>of this. If you have the IP Konami, and you
<v Speaker 3>have external developers with a proven track record that have
<v Speaker 3>an idea, let them try it. Let them see what
<v Speaker 3>they can do with your IP, and if they crash
<v Speaker 3>and burn, then you know. But it can't be any
<v Speaker 3>worse than that DS Castlevani three, DS Castlelvania of her
<v Speaker 3>Mercury Steam back in twenty twelve, twenty thirteen, whatever that
<v Speaker 3>was called that was not great, and Dead Cells is
<v Speaker 3>one of the most highly thought of indie games ever.
<v Speaker 3>So match Nen yep agreed.
<v Speaker 2>Do we I don't think we know if this is
<v Speaker 2>like a Metroid Vania or kind of maybe more class
<v Speaker 2>at Castlevania.
<v Speaker 1>I'm not sure if people have like sussed that out
<v Speaker 1>yet or not.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, I don't think so. It definitely seems like it's
<v Speaker 3>got the level format where you're going to be doing
<v Speaker 3>some backtracking. But I don't think it was genuinely genuinely
<v Speaker 3>confirmed if it's going to be that classic style.
<v Speaker 2>Yet you are correct, uh, And they said later after
<v Speaker 2>the show, Konami, that is that they're going to have
<v Speaker 2>even more Castlevania. This is just the beginning, And they
<v Speaker 2>said Castlevania projects or or like like spin offs or whatever.
<v Speaker 2>Obviously they could be referring to even more like Netflix
<v Speaker 2>shows and stuff like that, but it seemed to suggest
<v Speaker 2>that they have even more Castlevania games in the works,
<v Speaker 2>which sure please.
<v Speaker 1>I love Castlevania. Yeah, all right.
<v Speaker 2>They then they still weren't done, and like you said, hey,
<v Speaker 2>they've they've they're working with partners. Right, we knew they
<v Speaker 2>were working with this partner and a Pirna on Silent
<v Speaker 2>Hill town Fall, which they finally showed off in earnest.
<v Speaker 2>It is taking place in a new town. It is
<v Speaker 2>a first person kind of a survival focus game. It's
<v Speaker 2>Mulco launching later this year. They had the Silent Hill
<v Speaker 2>transmission that went even deeper on.
<v Speaker 1>This after the show.
<v Speaker 2>It is them sort of trading on the fact that
<v Speaker 2>they they're doing a lot with Silent Hill so they
<v Speaker 2>can keep trying new things, and this is yet another
<v Speaker 2>example of that.
<v Speaker 1>How do you feel about this one?
<v Speaker 3>I think people were surprised by Silent Hill f based
<v Speaker 3>on the reviews I read. I didn't actually play it
<v Speaker 3>myself because I am a sissy. Yeah, based on those reviews,
<v Speaker 3>I think people were surprised by the action bent of
<v Speaker 3>Silent Hill. Health Have was a little more action focused
<v Speaker 3>than people expected or combat focused, and I think now
<v Speaker 3>we know why because town They didn't want to have
<v Speaker 3>two really tense survival horror style Silent Hills back to
<v Speaker 3>back like this, and they knew Townfall was coming, we
<v Speaker 3>didn't yet, so to see this come out and have
<v Speaker 3>that first person view kind of like the Ari seven
<v Speaker 3>sort of thing, but for a Silent Hill game really neat.
<v Speaker 3>The developer behind it used to be called no Code,
<v Speaker 3>now called screen Burn. They made observation in twenty nineteen
<v Speaker 3>if that was a little horror Indie Jam, if you
<v Speaker 3>like that, that's the that's the people behind this. They're
<v Speaker 3>based in Scotland, I think Glasgow. Yeah cool, this is
<v Speaker 3>more again more Silent Hill is good. Letting another development
<v Speaker 3>studio try it out is a smart idea and maybe
<v Speaker 3>they'll go two for two here and they'll let keep
<v Speaker 3>in the let other studios take cracks at them.
<v Speaker 2>Make sense to me, Uh, Konami not done and this
<v Speaker 2>time shifting gears. We keep talking about them partner up
<v Speaker 2>with others. This is the next game they're making internally
<v Speaker 2>at Konami Rev Noir, a new IP anime inspired RPG.
<v Speaker 2>Sean was saying last night to me, like he takes
<v Speaker 2>this as the sign that, like, oh, Konami's fully back.
<v Speaker 2>If they are, you know, they're not necessarily making a
<v Speaker 2>new sweak it in, but they are making an anime RPG.
<v Speaker 2>They only would do that if they I think games
<v Speaker 2>making games is a way to success.
<v Speaker 1>We'll see.
<v Speaker 2>I mean to me as a an uninformed idiot about
<v Speaker 2>RPG's games. I enjoy, but I do not like pay
<v Speaker 2>attention to that space of some I'm like, oh, are
<v Speaker 2>they trying to have their own persona and they've done
<v Speaker 2>stuff like this before and yeah kind of people were
<v Speaker 2>saying it looks a lot like a Tales of game
<v Speaker 2>and it's okay, Yeah, I think that that can work
<v Speaker 2>if this comes in and it's like, you know, a
<v Speaker 2>solid eighty on open critic. People are like, yeah, it's
<v Speaker 2>another one of these good RPGs from a Japanese publisher,
<v Speaker 2>and we will play this.
<v Speaker 3>I would get a little bit of a Zeno Blade
<v Speaker 3>vibe too, Yeah, stuff like that. Yeah, I fully agree
<v Speaker 3>with you that this was the definitely the sign that
<v Speaker 3>Kanami is fully back into game development. I think it
<v Speaker 3>was you last night talking with Sean who said that
<v Speaker 3>somebody they must have hired somebody at Konami who just
<v Speaker 3>likes making video games, yeah, and wants to go back
<v Speaker 3>to making video games, And that to me is awesome.
<v Speaker 3>I don't know that this is one that I'll play
<v Speaker 3>Revnoir just because time is fleeting and I would love
<v Speaker 3>to sing some time into a Hunter hour rpg.
<v Speaker 1>You just can't do it.
<v Speaker 3>But good for you if it's something that piques your
<v Speaker 3>interest and it's something you might want to get into
<v Speaker 3>based on what you've seen so far, I hope it
<v Speaker 3>works out for you.
<v Speaker 1>All right.
<v Speaker 2>Then we got into a little bit of the home
<v Speaker 2>stretch here. There was a John Wick three D action
<v Speaker 2>game from Saber, the most prolific studio, and as it's
<v Speaker 2>always it's always pointed out, they have like a ton
<v Speaker 2>of like a dozen studios over there. But they could
<v Speaker 2>have a bunch of environmental combat scenarios where John Wick
<v Speaker 2>could just slam heads against the walls and it's gonna
<v Speaker 2>have shoot John Wick. Keanu Reeves is in the game.
<v Speaker 2>They kind of made that the point of emphasis for
<v Speaker 2>this trailer. Yeah. I like how we said what one line? Yeah,
<v Speaker 2>that's all I had to say. Yeah, that's all people
<v Speaker 2>wanted exactly.
<v Speaker 3>No, when I first started watch this trailer, when I
<v Speaker 3>saw it for the first time, like, oh man, is
<v Speaker 3>this slow clap? Is this the seafood people, because they
<v Speaker 3>are a perfect fit. Ended up not being that. I
<v Speaker 3>did see Saber and went oh, But mostly because Saber
<v Speaker 3>is doing so much. They have played like El Razor
<v Speaker 3>Coming Soon.
<v Speaker 2>Toxic Commando from John Carpenter, Trot the Kotor remake.
<v Speaker 3>Oh man, they are busy.
<v Speaker 2>They got that the American Truck Simulator, spent the Clone
<v Speaker 2>sort of thing that they're making, and they they're still
<v Speaker 2>supporting a bunch of different mud Runners games.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, it's crazy. Get it a lot going on at
<v Speaker 3>Saber Interactive, but that's good. That means business is good.
<v Speaker 3>The licensing of like fees or licensed games are coming in.
<v Speaker 3>I hope this. I hope this one is good. John
<v Speaker 3>Wick definitely seems like it would fit into a video
<v Speaker 3>game environment, and the few times they have tried it,
<v Speaker 3>like X and I think there was something one other
<v Speaker 3>game that I'm forgetting. We're fine, but they don't don't
<v Speaker 3>really exist anymore, if they're even able to be found
<v Speaker 3>at all. Yeah, cool, let's try it.
<v Speaker 2>Marathon's getting an open preview on February twenty sixth through
<v Speaker 2>March second, leading into its March fifth launch. Everyone seems
<v Speaker 2>much more positive on this game at this point. Yesler
<v Speaker 2>looked pretty good. How about you.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, as long as the art's actually theirs, I'm fine
<v Speaker 3>to try it out right. I don't want them. I
<v Speaker 3>don't want to hear any more of this stealing or
<v Speaker 3>AI bullshit. I want to think they may have crossed
<v Speaker 3>some sort of line here. The people who have been
<v Speaker 3>playing it, who have been like previewing it and stuff,
<v Speaker 3>are very high on it since they've taken this hiatus.
<v Speaker 3>We'll see what happens in this Server Slam preview weekend
<v Speaker 3>on February twenty six But like, why isn't it just
<v Speaker 3>launching on February at whatever?
<v Speaker 1>Cool?
<v Speaker 3>I hope I hope it works out. And if the
<v Speaker 3>story it's going to be like this, like little teasers
<v Speaker 3>here and there, and then they like build to something greater,
<v Speaker 3>that's how it should be. That's what Destiny was, right.
<v Speaker 3>If you want to throw a Destiny style story in
<v Speaker 3>a multiplayer shooter like this, I think that's there's ample
<v Speaker 3>ground for that. We'll see that. There's still a cloud
<v Speaker 3>of of unsure around this one, but we're almost there.
<v Speaker 3>We'll see.
<v Speaker 2>Then there was a PlayStation Plus updates. Spider Man two
<v Speaker 2>is hitting PS plus and February seventeenth, Tech in Dark Resurrection,
<v Speaker 2>the PSP Part Tech and five Kild Crisis PS one
<v Speaker 2>port with the gyroscope aiming. That's a lot of fun.
<v Speaker 2>And then Big Walk is confirmed to be launching into
<v Speaker 2>PS plus on day one. That's exciting. Although we are
<v Speaker 2>now calling that game big Wank because Eurogamer accidentally called
<v Speaker 2>that before fixing. In other webs we saw sorrows more
<v Speaker 2>of that. It's launching April thirtieth. They really showed off
<v Speaker 2>a lot of that game looking better than ever.
<v Speaker 3>Right, Yeah, makes me want to go back into the
<v Speaker 3>paternal between now and April thirtieth just to get my
<v Speaker 3>reflexes going, My goodness, that game looks like a lot
<v Speaker 3>of fun, and I know it's real cool coolie. I
<v Speaker 3>know who the actor is, but hey, Tam looks pretty good.
<v Speaker 2>Marvel token more of that, we got to see some
<v Speaker 2>of the X Men that they're putting into this game,
<v Speaker 2>including Wolverine.
<v Speaker 1>It's launching August six.
<v Speaker 2>Sounds like they are taking a lot of feedback from
<v Speaker 2>lukewarm reception during some testing previously.
<v Speaker 3>Yes, there were some new moves and new things going
<v Speaker 3>on in that trailer that I definitely noticed. And also
<v Speaker 3>it's just nice to know that there are more characters
<v Speaker 3>than the eight that they debuted with the first trailer
<v Speaker 3>back in June. These are the first ones. These are
<v Speaker 3>the first new characters since that debut trailer. There have
<v Speaker 3>been other news, but this is the first time we're
<v Speaker 3>seeing some new faces. Also, it was nice to meet
<v Speaker 3>Danger How did you know the Danger Room became sentient?
<v Speaker 3>That's fun. That's a neat little addition. But yes, and
<v Speaker 3>I like the team aspects. So every trailer from here
<v Speaker 3>on out is going to feature a different team, and
<v Speaker 3>that's going to be where the characters come from. Five teams,
<v Speaker 3>four characters each has twenty characters. We currently know eleven, right,
<v Speaker 3>we had eight three more elevens. We have nine more
<v Speaker 3>to fill this roster out. That's pretty cool. Let's go.
<v Speaker 2>And yes, Jane, we're not putting the leader of the
<v Speaker 2>X Men. Sorry, Bude, they got to put in the
<v Speaker 2>Danger room instead. I read that Jas Swhedon run and
<v Speaker 2>I don't remember Danger, but maybe I should go back
<v Speaker 2>and read it again.
<v Speaker 1>I thought it was pretty good. Josh Weeden sucks now.
<v Speaker 1>God of War trilogy remake got teased. They just had
<v Speaker 1>a title. It seems very early.
<v Speaker 2>Last I heard was last year they were like talking
<v Speaker 2>about it, and that's not the last I heard. But
<v Speaker 2>last year I heard that they were talking about it.
<v Speaker 2>So they're just getting started on this thing. But they're
<v Speaker 2>remaking one, two, and three. TC Carson, who does the
<v Speaker 2>voice of Creatos, came out and charmed everyone. What do
<v Speaker 2>you make of this one?
<v Speaker 3>TC Carson is a swagged out man, and I want
<v Speaker 3>to see him talk more. But I think there's a
<v Speaker 3>way to approach this remake. I had this thought this
<v Speaker 3>morning where you start as like the game opens with
<v Speaker 3>you as Norse Crados and you're in the boat going
<v Speaker 3>to Valhalla, right, and Mamir says to him, you know,
<v Speaker 3>you see him lost in thought or whatever. I'm just
<v Speaker 3>dwelling on my past what happened. If you approach this
<v Speaker 3>game as a reckoning with your past by highlighting just
<v Speaker 3>how much of a shithead Credos was in those three
<v Speaker 3>games like Sacrifice some people to solve puzzles and really
<v Speaker 3>hone in on that while also remaking these games, I
<v Speaker 3>think there could be a very interesting story that could
<v Speaker 3>be told here in a way that other remakes, like
<v Speaker 3>a reckoning with your past, because as a franchise that
<v Speaker 3>had to do that too, right twenty eighteen came out
<v Speaker 3>as a franchise, God of War had to kind of
<v Speaker 3>address or deal or however, maybe they haven't done that yet.
<v Speaker 3>Maybe this is their way of doing it. I just
<v Speaker 3>think there's a way to connect the two different silos
<v Speaker 3>of God Award an interesting way here should they choose
<v Speaker 3>to do it.
<v Speaker 1>Let's see here X was Sons of Sparta.
<v Speaker 2>I've been playing this and I didn't think it looked
<v Speaker 2>very good in the trailer, and I was like, I
<v Speaker 2>think I need to actually get my hand on the
<v Speaker 2>controller and see how it looks as I'm moving the
<v Speaker 2>character and I suspect it it's a little bit better
<v Speaker 2>in that context.
<v Speaker 1>I still don't think it looks great.
<v Speaker 2>It's very clearly like the three characters with that pixelated
<v Speaker 2>pixel art look filter on top and that I think
<v Speaker 2>that does look better than it does in the trailers
<v Speaker 2>on YouTube. But yeah, I'm not sure that people are
<v Speaker 2>going to flock to this game. It is a two
<v Speaker 2>D metroid Vana. What'd you make of this?
<v Speaker 3>So Megacat Studios has a very distinct pixel art. If
<v Speaker 3>you go to Wrestle Quest, if you go to Five
<v Speaker 3>Nights of Freddy's Into the Pit. Yes, so I when
<v Speaker 3>I saw Mega Cat, I knew what to expect. It
<v Speaker 3>kind of fit into my expectations. I think the problem
<v Speaker 3>is those games were very colorful. They had a lot
<v Speaker 3>of pop to them. You were in a nineteen eighties
<v Speaker 3>arcade and into the pit. You were at Wrestle Quest,
<v Speaker 3>which is all spandex and big muscles. Right, this is
<v Speaker 3>very brown, it's very gray. It's very yes, interesting to
<v Speaker 3>look at because you're in ancient Greece. It's the desert.
<v Speaker 3>It's it's a lot of dirt, so I see where
<v Speaker 3>people are coming from in It's ugly. It looks a
<v Speaker 3>little ugly or not quite what they want, But I
<v Speaker 3>think that has more to do with the setting than
<v Speaker 3>their actual ability to create these pixels. But if the
<v Speaker 3>gameplays good, haven't that a chance to try it yet?
<v Speaker 3>But if the gameplays good, I think I'll be able
<v Speaker 3>to get over that and check it out.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, I'm wondering what people are going to be thinking about.
<v Speaker 2>I think on Monday I'm going to make that the
<v Speaker 2>poll question of hey, have you tried this game? If
<v Speaker 2>you have, what do you think it is? Really think
<v Speaker 2>people are gonna have to try it? And it's thirty dollars.
<v Speaker 2>I guess, Jason, what do you think they're trying to
<v Speaker 2>do with this game? Is it just keep God of
<v Speaker 2>War relevant? Because what I don't get is you make
<v Speaker 2>this game and you play as boy Kratos, he plays Boy,
<v Speaker 2>and it just doesn't feel very God of Worry like
<v Speaker 2>when you initially play, Like as I'm playing it, it's
<v Speaker 2>definitely all the smartest stuff is Every line's about smart
<v Speaker 2>of this, spart of that. I get that, But what
<v Speaker 2>do you think they're trying to accomplish with the brand
<v Speaker 2>with this game?
<v Speaker 3>I think they're is an argument to be made about
<v Speaker 3>bridging relevance, right, So people are playing this now for
<v Speaker 3>a little while. News is coming out about the Amazon
<v Speaker 3>Prime series with casting and stuff like that that'll start
<v Speaker 3>filming soon, and then that'll come out. And then it
<v Speaker 3>makes me wonder just how far into or lack thereof
<v Speaker 3>this trilogy remake they are right like this maybe early early,
<v Speaker 3>and we're talking like five years, so they have to
<v Speaker 3>do everything they can to keep it relevant because Ragnarok
<v Speaker 3>was twenty twenty two. It's four years ago. I guess
<v Speaker 3>they maybe they thought they would have had a new
<v Speaker 3>project by now and then something happened so they had
<v Speaker 3>to pivot and do this, or they always had this
<v Speaker 3>in their back pocket. The fact that it was a
<v Speaker 3>shadow drop was very interesting also too. I don't know.
<v Speaker 3>I think I think there's an argument to be made
<v Speaker 3>that they just want to keep God of fresh in
<v Speaker 3>people's heads as they make their way towards this remake.
<v Speaker 3>But we'll see.
<v Speaker 2>All right, let's see, I'm gonna I'm actually finishing up
<v Speaker 2>the I'm twelve right now. I forgot to do it
<v Speaker 2>because I was sicky pooh and I've been sicky pooh.
<v Speaker 1>Dereliction of duty.
<v Speaker 2>But I think I got it all updated now, so
<v Speaker 2>we should be good to get to here in a second.
<v Speaker 2>In the meantime, let's get to the poll question from yesterday. Everybody,
<v Speaker 2>we're not going to get to the rest of this
<v Speaker 2>news because we've run out of time. That's just how
<v Speaker 2>it goes sometimes. Uh Boom boom Oh, that's right. Uh okay, I.
<v Speaker 1>Listen to everybody.
<v Speaker 2>Mike Manatti's out and I was like, hey, Mike on
<v Speaker 2>on Blue Sky, does Boom Boom have a soul? Boom Boom?
<v Speaker 2>Is that the mini boss from Super Mario Brothers three?
<v Speaker 2>You know, the guy goes does this now he's in
<v Speaker 2>Mario Tennis. And Mike's always said, like a Booma doesn't
<v Speaker 2>have a soul, you shouldn't be able to play some
<v Speaker 2>in Mario party or whatever. So I was like, hey, Mike,
<v Speaker 2>can I does Boom Boom have a soul? Can I
<v Speaker 2>play as him? You know you won't get mad at me?
<v Speaker 2>And he didn't respond because he's he's traveling. So I asked,
<v Speaker 2>I asked, you know the person he's with, Hey, Peyton,
<v Speaker 2>can you.
<v Speaker 1>Ask Mike this?
<v Speaker 2>And she got back to me and said he told
<v Speaker 2>her that Boom Boom does have a soul. He went
<v Speaker 2>on something about like whether or not humans and dogs
<v Speaker 2>have souls. I'm ignoring that. I'm gonna wait for him
<v Speaker 2>to get back before I clarify some of that stuff.
<v Speaker 2>But Boom Boom does have a soul. Everybody, We did
<v Speaker 2>it my job absolutely, all right, Let's see here. Pull
<v Speaker 2>question from yesterday was let's see here, have you ever
<v Speaker 2>or have you tried mugenics? Eighteen percent said yes, eighty
<v Speaker 2>two percent said no. Eighteen percent of the audience has
<v Speaker 2>already jumped on that thing. And that game is selling very,
<v Speaker 2>very well, and that's the kind of game that people
<v Speaker 2>pick up for forever and like in a Steam sale
<v Speaker 2>down the line and all that stuff. So a pretty
<v Speaker 2>good start for that game that is now having like
<v Speaker 2>it's it's weird voice acting meow controversy.
<v Speaker 1>You know, like I said on our show.
<v Speaker 2>Previous this week, I don't want to hear Ethan climb
<v Speaker 2>Mellen in a game. But also like whatever, I know
<v Speaker 2>what kind of dude and Edmund macmillan is, He's just
<v Speaker 2>a guy stuck in that early two thousands new ground
<v Speaker 2>space and has been heads down making his games. And
<v Speaker 2>I don't know, I'm only going to hold so much
<v Speaker 2>against him because I'm not going to be like, I'm
<v Speaker 2>not there to scold everybody whatever, you're going to work
<v Speaker 2>with these people. I rather you didn't, and I'm going
<v Speaker 2>to say that. So I'm gonna say I'd rather this
<v Speaker 2>game did not have these shitty people in here. It's
<v Speaker 2>his response, though, has only made it worse, where he's like, oh,
<v Speaker 2>some people have different beliefs and that's scary, isn't it.
<v Speaker 3>Shut up d Yeah, that's not great. He did say also, too,
<v Speaker 3>that he asked some of the people on one side
<v Speaker 3>of the argument if they'd be mad if the other
<v Speaker 3>side of the argument were in the game too, and
<v Speaker 3>vice versa, and they all agreed and they were all
<v Speaker 3>adult about it. That doesn't make it that much better,
<v Speaker 3>but I guess that's fine. So for people who want
<v Speaker 3>to wear in the chat. There are about sixty five
<v Speaker 3>or seventy different voice actors who now as the cats
<v Speaker 3>in this game, and you get them randomly. Cliffy b
<v Speaker 3>Is one of them. H Bomber Guy is one of them.
<v Speaker 3>The professor for you Magic Freaks Hilarian Community College, he's
<v Speaker 3>one of them. There's a ton of them, right. You
<v Speaker 3>don't have any control over who you get. You don't
<v Speaker 3>have any rivers. Cuomo was one, Bobcat fucking Goldthwaite is
<v Speaker 3>one of them. David Harbor is one of them. It's
<v Speaker 3>a weird it's a weird cast. So it's it's a
<v Speaker 3>multitude of people. It's just kinda it's just it's a
<v Speaker 3>thing that the game didn't fucking need, you know what
<v Speaker 3>I mean.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, I mean, it was just like the kind of
<v Speaker 2>thing where it's like people are gonna step up and
<v Speaker 2>be like this stinks and then move on with their lives,
<v Speaker 2>which is I think of a fair response, Like people
<v Speaker 2>are allowed to think something stinks and you can say
<v Speaker 2>it and then either still play the game or not
<v Speaker 2>play it. Because of this, all of this is fair.
<v Speaker 2>We can talk about these things if we're all going
<v Speaker 2>to be adults. Let's all be adults and like say, hey,
<v Speaker 2>this thing you did stinks and you can handle that criticism.
<v Speaker 1>It's gonna be all right ed, all right.
<v Speaker 2>So let's see here, we're gonna get to the bomb
<v Speaker 2>twelve here a second before we do that, Jason Fonella,
<v Speaker 2>why don't you tell people wh they can find you
<v Speaker 2>on the internet, but you have going on all that
<v Speaker 2>good stuff on a Friday the thirteenth.
<v Speaker 3>Jasonfinelli dot Com, One Blue Sky, Instagram, Big Man Finelle
<v Speaker 3>is where I do my thing. As I said, I
<v Speaker 3>reviewed High on Life two for Game Informer. That should
<v Speaker 3>be out at some point today. Tried to get it
<v Speaker 3>in before the embargo but just didn't happen and then
<v Speaker 3>the state of play got in the way. But it'll
<v Speaker 3>be out soon. Like that game a lot, I think
<v Speaker 3>it's a bunch of really weird, stupid humor that fits
<v Speaker 3>right into my wheelhouse. But other than that, have a lot
<v Speaker 3>of content coming to game Spot in the realm of
<v Speaker 3>the Magic Gathering. We have Ninja Turtles coming out soon,
<v Speaker 3>so I'm sure there's gonna be stuff going on there.
<v Speaker 3>I'll be in New York on Sunday for New York
<v Speaker 3>Toy Fair. It'll be on first for me meeting with
<v Speaker 3>a couple of folks about some some some cool kids
<v Speaker 3>toys and stuff like that. I didn't realize how big
<v Speaker 3>this thing was, Like what mattel on the on the
<v Speaker 3>map of the convention has like the entire back pavilion
<v Speaker 3>of the Javits just to them.
<v Speaker 1>It's wild.
<v Speaker 3>So yeah, I'm looking looking forward to checking that out
<v Speaker 3>that started today. I figure tomorrow it starts, but yeah,
<v Speaker 3>check out game Spot for me mmo and and then
<v Speaker 3>the next I believe it's the next issue of Game
<v Speaker 3>Informer will feature you boy a couple of times, but
<v Speaker 3>we'll get into that when it happens.
<v Speaker 2>Excellent, thanks for being on the show man, I appreciate it.
<v Speaker 2>Let's go ahead and get out of this week by
<v Speaker 2>going to the bomb twelve. These are the twelve games
<v Speaker 2>that really matter to people who are really playing video games.
<v Speaker 2>Let's go ahead and start here with number twelve. Silent
<v Speaker 2>Hill f still at number twelve after last week. The
<v Speaker 2>same with High Tail at number eleven. Game I still
<v Speaker 2>want to check in on at some point, we'll make
<v Speaker 2>time on one of these upfs to do that. Number
<v Speaker 2>ten is boulders Gate three, popping back up under the chart.
<v Speaker 2>Number nine is Arc Knight's Endfield that Gotsha pon game.
<v Speaker 2>Number eight is Mio Memories in Orbit number seven Secretory.
<v Speaker 1>We did it everybody, yea.
<v Speaker 2>We gave away a lot of codes to new subscribers
<v Speaker 2>for that, and sounds like a lot of people are
<v Speaker 2>playing it. I have the new high score among my
<v Speaker 2>friend group. I beat Jacob geller By like a thousand points.
<v Speaker 2>We both have almost the exact same eighteen million points score.
<v Speaker 1>And I'm to shot like two more dudes. That's it.
<v Speaker 1>It's crazy.
<v Speaker 2>But I'm number eleven in the world right now, so
<v Speaker 2>almost in the top ten. I got to just keep
<v Speaker 2>at it. Number six are Creators. Number five is Dragon
<v Speaker 2>Quest seven Reimagine. Number four is Escape from ever After.
<v Speaker 2>I'm very excited to see more and more people are
<v Speaker 2>playing that game. It is worth people's time. Number three
<v Speaker 2>dead Luck. The game's still not out. I feel like
<v Speaker 2>it's just going to continue to be this shadow giant.
<v Speaker 2>Number two is Neo three.
<v Speaker 1>Excuse me.
<v Speaker 2>Like we said last week, it popped up on the
<v Speaker 2>chart a little bit last week here it is kind
<v Speaker 2>of getting almost to the top. But number one still
<v Speaker 2>can Wow, the climbing game that a lot of people
<v Speaker 2>seem to be falling in love with.
<v Speaker 1>I need to go back to it. I know I
<v Speaker 1>need that.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, I want to check it out too. Baby Steps
<v Speaker 3>kind of made me. I love Baby Steps, don't get
<v Speaker 3>me wrong, but Becking frustrated the hell out of me.
<v Speaker 3>So this one I probably do the same thing, but
<v Speaker 3>I want to. I definitely want to play it real
<v Speaker 3>quick for you for the show. Shout out to Chuck
<v Speaker 3>and his cat based Skyrim run. That video was excellent.
<v Speaker 3>Live looking forward to new adventures in Nian Reel whenever
<v Speaker 3>you're going to get back to it.
<v Speaker 1>Good stuff, man, Yeah, we're gonna record some more today.
<v Speaker 2>We're banking these episodes everybody, so the Nine Lives and
<v Speaker 2>mister Mustapha Fleas will continue. We're having a good time
<v Speaker 2>with that, so everybody keep tuning in for those episodes
<v Speaker 2>as they drop. If you want to watch them, you're
<v Speaker 2>gonna have to go to jobm dot com. Slash joined
<v Speaker 2>to become a premium member again. Thanks to everybody who's
<v Speaker 2>jumping aboard to watch this stuff. It kind of gives
<v Speaker 2>us a signal that you want to see more of it.
<v Speaker 2>All right, I think we're good. I think we're clear.
<v Speaker 2>Jason Finelli, thank you so much for hanging out with
<v Speaker 2>me today and talking about video games.
<v Speaker 1>Man, I really appreciate it.
<v Speaker 3>Always an honor, mister Grub and sure you're Friday the thirteenth,
<v Speaker 3>to make sure you say hello to with Jason.
<v Speaker 2>Thank you everybody for watching and listening. Love to do
<v Speaker 2>these shows for you because you are the best audience
<v Speaker 2>in gaming. Until next time, I have a good one.
<v Speaker 2>Take care of yourself and goodbye.
