They were not mentally ready to play. In Saint Louis's credit, they were Yeah, I think Saint Louis got a lot of fans last night rooting for cream Abuli jabar in them because they were they bombing him everywhere He's making. 00:02:01 Speaker 2: Behind the back. 00:02:02 Speaker 5: He made them behind the back pass that one time. It was great. 00:02:04 Speaker 4: It was great to watch college basketball teams yesterday that were just a lot of fun. Yeah, you know, I mean Miami of Ohio Wednesday night, High Point Sienna, even though they lost Saint Louis. 00:02:15 Speaker 2: It's even Kennessas State last year Kennessal State was fun. 00:02:17 Speaker 4: Yeah, just watching teams that are like having fun and playing an entertaining style to watch. You can't help, but you can't help but enjoy that. Now North Carolina lost Hubert Davis. You know, I kind of wonder what they're You know, he had that run where he went to the championship game, but otherwise it's been a very disappointing tenure. 00:02:39 Speaker 2: I think for Hubert Davis at North Carolina. 00:02:41 Speaker 4: I don't know, you think they you think they I guess they'll probably keep him, but you could make an argument that they should go in another direction. 00:02:48 Speaker 5: You know, they did lose Kedib Wilson. 00:02:51 Speaker 2: They did. Yeah, that's a big deal. 00:02:53 Speaker 5: But still you're still North Carolina. You've still got a lot of great still. 00:02:56 Speaker 2: Got the players to beat VCU. Yes, exactly. 00:02:58 Speaker 4: Did you like my Russian accent I was doing for during the game. 00:03:02 Speaker 5: You used to do a great wukosh. Yeah, Now you've added to your repertoire. I got a great Russian. 00:03:07 Speaker 4: I'm adding more accents, Shannon, to to to the what I did used to give me a little I have to be in the movie their center. 00:03:16 Speaker 2: I don't even think was Russian, Hendrick Vanier or whatever. I don't even think he's Russian. But I started acting like he was Russian. You were, and uh. 00:03:26 Speaker 4: I was narrating the game as a Russian, and I feel like you two enjoyed that. 00:03:30 Speaker 5: Especially when he missed the big crucial free throw there at the end. 00:03:32 Speaker 4: No, I was sad for mother Russia. But I don't think he's Russian. I don't think he is either. I think he might be like Swedish. 00:03:40 Speaker 5: He's a foreign player, but I don't think he's. 00:03:41 Speaker 4: See what country he's from, Shannon. The guy in North Carolina, his name is like Hendrick Vanier. He missed the free throws at the end of the games. 00:03:50 Speaker 5: You put on your teeth. 00:03:51 Speaker 2: What is it? 00:03:51 Speaker 4: It's the Vassar Basar. Oh, he goes by Veneer. He goes by Veneer. Yeah, I think it makes your mind. You're right, maybe the sarsers. Yeah, he tried to intentionally miss that second. Brieth throw didn't even hit the rent. 00:04:05 Speaker 5: No, we made a horrible turnover before he missed a couple of free throws. 00:04:11 Speaker 2: He let down Mother Russia. 00:04:12 Speaker 5: He did let down Mother Russia. I wonder what he would say about that. 00:04:15 Speaker 2: Shannon, Where's he from? 00:04:16 Speaker 3: Did you say, I'm trying to find it here? 00:04:18 Speaker 2: Okay? Well? Estonia? Estonia? Well, that's that's close. 00:04:21 Speaker 4: It's eastern Europe. The cousins, Well, isn't uh the guy? No is the guy we had last year? 00:04:27 Speaker 2: Krk Crisa. 00:04:28 Speaker 5: Was he from Estonia? I believe you might be right about that. 00:04:31 Speaker 2: I think he was. 00:04:31 Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, whatever happened to that guy? I didn't hear anything from him. He's at Cincinnati. You get hurt again, he got hurt? I think I think I think he. 00:04:38 Speaker 2: Got hurt during the year at some point. 00:04:40 Speaker 5: If I if I'm correct, I think you're right about that. 00:04:42 Speaker 6: Eight. 00:04:42 Speaker 4: If I'm nine eighty seven, one person rights Matt. You guys took a lot of criticism online last night for posting the Pope video. What do you think of that? I mean, I understand, like so the question that was asked Pope. People act like I asked quo, I woudn't even at the press conference, like I but I saw the video and posted the video. I mean, I get it, Like I think there's a reasonable argument to be made that like that question shouldn't have been asked. It was not asked by me or KSR person was asked by The Herald during the pregame press conference. But one of the things that has been consistently true, and this goes back twenty years, This goes back to when I was saying we needed to replace Billy Gillespie in like two thousand and nine. When fans get mad at the media or specifically CHSRT, that's usually because something's not going right with the games, you know what I mean, Like, there's a correlation. Usually when we're losing, that's when that's when. So there's a correlated thing to when Kentucky loses, the people who don't like us criticize us more. And it's in part because we're criticizing. 00:06:01 Speaker 5: The play on the floor. 00:06:03 Speaker 2: So it is what it is. 00:06:05 Speaker 4: One of the reasons I so get want us to win is it makes all of our lives more fun because then people are in a good mood. And uh so that's another reason this weekend, man, I hope we win because I want to everybody to have a happy weekend, happy week et cetera. 00:06:23 Speaker 2: So and I hope it happens. 00:06:25 Speaker 4: Another person asked if I was going to be able to stay in the gym. 00:06:29 Speaker 5: No, Well, if they jump out to a big lead, maybe you can kind of relax and enjoy some of the game and staying there. Yeah, then they'll cut it to seven and the second half you'll get up and leave. 00:06:40 Speaker 2: Yeah. 00:06:40 Speaker 4: Now, I'll probably end up walking the streets to Saint Louis at some point during the day. 00:06:45 Speaker 5: Well, it's a half mile of Ballpark Village and that's. 00:06:47 Speaker 4: Where you and that's where I was for Wichita State game. I walked to Ballpark Village. I'll probably do that again again. We walked the street yesterday. Saw really nice like the the. 00:06:58 Speaker 5: Dred Scott decision where it was. 00:07:00 Speaker 4: The courthouse where they did dread Scott, the courthouse where when when slaves would cross the Mississippi River in order to try to get their freedom, they would then file for freedom in a Saint Louis courthouse and the Saint Louis City Hall, which was majesty. 00:07:19 Speaker 5: That was really impressive. 00:07:20 Speaker 2: Actually, that was majestic. We need. I'm a big thing. 00:07:23 Speaker 4: Government building should look like that. That's a that that looked like. Okay, you're in something. 00:07:28 Speaker 5: I don't know if you know, but one time Saint Louis was the fifth largest city in the United States. 00:07:32 Speaker 2: I said that to you. 00:07:33 Speaker 5: Why do you keep bringing that up because you had that fun fact? I think not like fact. I do love fun facts. I'm a fun fat guy. 00:07:40 Speaker 4: Yeah, that was one of the Mississippi You know, it used to be everybody lived on the Mississippi River because that was where commerce was. 00:07:46 Speaker 5: I'll tell you me fun fact about the arch. When the engineers built it, there was no guarantee it was going to meet in the middle. They were kind of hoping and just guessing when they were building it up it was going to meet in the middle. And it did perfectly. 00:07:57 Speaker 2: What do you mean they were guessing. They just started building Shannon and hoped it would work. 00:08:02 Speaker 5: Their figures and their their diagrams and there. 00:08:05 Speaker 4: You don't think they knew when they started building where they would there. 00:08:09 Speaker 5: Was a chance it could be a little centimeter off, you know, uffle bit of where did you hear this all right on the internet? It's gotta be true. 00:08:18 Speaker 4: So you're saying they just decided to undertake this massive project. Well they you know, they had to build an arts that probably at the time was consumed all kinds of labor. 00:08:29 Speaker 2: Yeah, definitely, and they just were gonna hope that it matched. 00:08:32 Speaker 5: They hope their plans were accurate. They want to be accurate, and they it was brilliance. They were just brilliant engineers. Okay, but somebody maybe had a bad day. It could have been off just a little bit. Then what are you gonna do? Send it down? 00:08:50 Speaker 4: He acts like they were just up there going all right, here we go, let's hope it looks like straight. 00:08:55 Speaker 2: Hey, hey, just move it a little bit to the Yeah, there was no plan at all. 00:08:58 Speaker 3: We're just gonna start building it. What happened in the middle, Yeah, Chester, Chester, go ahead, Chester. 00:09:08 Speaker 7: Hey, Matt, I ain't got to call in since uh about the news about Mitch Barnhart, But I just would like to start by just saying I want to personally thank him for all his years of serving the Commonwealth and serving the program. I personally think he's a great man, and I think he's done a great job at leading this university. 00:09:27 Speaker 2: I wish him nothing but the best. 00:09:28 Speaker 7: He's gonna be an ambassador for our program going forward, and that's fine by me. He's done an awesome job top to bottom, minus this little old that we've had here in this tournament, which I can't fully blame that on him, and by the way, is going to end starting today. Matt Santa Clara is not running Steve Nash out of that tunnel today. We are gonna beat them, and it would be convincing. And I don't even know that we're gonna play Iowa Stay tomorrow because. 00:09:54 Speaker 2: There's usually a number two that loses. 00:09:56 Speaker 7: And when I got that bracket, I looked at it and I thought, Yep, we're gonna be one of these. This bracket's gonna open up wide for us. And I just really just want to say that the big Blue Nation right now, all this nervous energy, we need to if you need to stop what you're doing, take a deep breath and remember who we are. They've had to. 00:10:18 Speaker 6: Sit he and listen. 00:10:19 Speaker 7: We've had to center and listen to these announcers talk about all these years that we've not made it to the how many tournament games we've lost, and all of this. 00:10:28 Speaker 2: We need to remember who we are. 00:10:30 Speaker 7: We are one of the win we are at Kentucky, and I just want to encourage everybody to not listen to all this junk about. 00:10:37 Speaker 2: Our program and remember who we are. 00:10:39 Speaker 7: Go into this tournament with all the confidence in the world. 00:10:43 Speaker 2: Weren't my words. 00:10:45 Speaker 7: We are gonna be in this final four, Matt And when we do all the money talk touching the money, that's gonna be our mantra. 00:10:52 Speaker 2: We're gonna be. 00:10:52 Speaker 8: Happy about touching it. 00:10:53 Speaker 2: And all the fans and all these. 00:10:55 Speaker 5: People that want to talk crap to us that. 00:10:57 Speaker 2: We're gonna be eating their own words. That's all right, tell him about it nice. I like it, well done. 00:11:04 Speaker 4: I don't know why Mario was on the other side of the room talking during that whole time. Who were you talking to? 00:11:09 Speaker 2: All right? He was there's a show going on, Chester. 00:11:13 Speaker 4: That's the kind of speech if we win today and Sunday, that's a speech that might go viral right there. 00:11:19 Speaker 5: That's that optimism that we've been missing in the program, Like Winchester has that yet that it's usually. 00:11:27 Speaker 4: Been pretty good, uh, you know, pretty good record over the years. 00:11:31 Speaker 2: When Chester's giving one of those intense moments. 00:11:34 Speaker 5: I think we needed this as our fan base to pick us up a little bit and forget about some of these things that have happened Zaga game and the Vanderbilt game, and pick up. 00:11:43 Speaker 2: We have breaking news. 00:11:45 Speaker 3: I don't know if I need to hit the breaking news button. Okay, what is but Chuck Norris has passed away at the age of eighty six. Way to bring the whole show down. 00:11:54 Speaker 4: We could have gone through the commercial break before you say that. Well, I'm sorry to hear this. 00:11:58 Speaker 3: Guy just tapped me on the shoulder and told me like a supposed to announce it or something. 00:12:01 Speaker 4: I'm really sorry to hear that. Well, so eighty seven. Do we know it's true? That feels like one of those things that goes viral sometimes. Yeah, it's unofficial things. 00:12:13 Speaker 2: Well, that's sad. 00:12:14 Speaker 4: Rest in peace. Chuck Norris, a man who she had really brought the movie. 00:12:22 Speaker 3: I didn't say you had to go to me at that. 00:12:23 Speaker 2: I know, I didn't know what the breaking news was. 00:12:26 Speaker 3: The breaking news was that he beat somebody up. 00:12:29 Speaker 2: Positive Chuck Norris picked the cats. 00:12:31 Speaker 5: We just had Gavin chester Chester going crazy for us, and then we get this. 00:12:38 Speaker 2: Well that's that is I'm sorry. Rest in peace, all right, let's take a break. Shannon has completely changed the movie. Did change the movie, and I was so excited. 00:12:47 Speaker 4: I was, and Shannon broke in with Chuck Norris. So we'll take a break. We get back to the game. We can eulogize Chuck Norris at another time. Sorry to hear about that. 00:12:57 Speaker 5: Very sorry. 00:12:58 Speaker 4: Yes, we'll take a break and we'll be right back to cap quarterback. It is take you Sports Radio. That video I posted of the kids from high Point, Yeah, that's gonna end up being like one of the three or four biggest videos I've ever posted. 00:13:13 Speaker 2: Love it. 00:13:14 Speaker 5: It's awesome. That's right. 00:13:15 Speaker 2: It really is awesome. 00:13:16 Speaker 5: Because it's just pure raw emotion excitement for both those guys. He the one guy doesn't say a word, but his in the way he acts is that what makes it fun. 00:13:26 Speaker 4: Yeah, your dream home waits at Bluegrass home center dot com. It is Bluegrass home Center dot com. One person rights Matt. Which player do you you trust the most going into the game today? Well, I mean, generally speaking, you trust Oway the most because he's only really had two bad games all year, so he's gonna be the answer. But I would say Aberdeen's a close second in terms for me of you know, even if the Aberdeen's not shooting well, had missed free throw in the last three minutes of game all year, very few turnovers in the last ten games, tends to make the right decisions, plays good defense, So I think we have a backcourt we can trust. And then the variably is, Okay, what do you get from Chandler? Do some of these other guys make shots? That's kind of what you're looking at. 00:14:42 Speaker 5: Yeah, we forget Aberdeen. Led Floor, one of the leaders of the Florida's national championship team last year, played like the final four or five minutes of the game. He was very integral part of them winning the championship. He's been there before, so you gotta trust him in Oway. But you're right, one of these other guys, Cam Williams or Colin Chandler or Jasper. 00:14:57 Speaker 4: Moreno, I mean Moreno, has not I played quite like he did at the start of SEC play. I think maybe having Morenos step up, yo, bitch, make a couple outside shots. You know, I don't expect Garrison to get what eighteen like he did in that SEC tournament game, but get more than zero. You know, those things are good. 00:15:17 Speaker 5: He's one of our better three point shooters right now. 00:15:19 Speaker 2: You give me Garrison's note. He did it too. He did it too in that game. That's true. That's true. The only time he's ever gonna score eighteen, and he did it in that game. Who's next to John John? Go ahead, John. 00:15:36 Speaker 6: Morning fellas, how are you good? I just want to bring them the fact we're talking about British basketball players. Yesterday completely forgot about Amari Williams and our Weeda bicks that we went through last year. 00:15:49 Speaker 4: We mean, we mentioned even in the next segment. We mentioned him in the next segment. 00:15:53 Speaker 6: Well, I apologize. There's also the big member Mario William. 00:15:58 Speaker 2: Yeah, I mentioned him in that segment. 00:16:01 Speaker 4: I mentioned it, so I mentioned him right at the beginning. And when we mentioned him, mentioned Amari in the next segment. 00:16:08 Speaker 6: Okay, I didn't. I didn't catch hope catch win today, go go big Blue. And I hope there's a big turnout down there in Saint Louis. 00:16:15 Speaker 2: Yeah, I hope so too. 00:16:16 Speaker 4: We will we will find out when well, I will put it out as soon as I see who's next to Brock Brock, go ahead, Brock. 00:16:25 Speaker 6: Hey first time? 00:16:27 Speaker 2: Who are what's up? 00:16:30 Speaker 8: Yeah? I'm walking into the stadium right now. We just got here in kat Lewis. I should say, all right, what's it? 00:16:35 Speaker 5: Look? 00:16:37 Speaker 2: You're seeing any blue? 00:16:38 Speaker 8: I've seen a bunch of blue yeah, a bunch of parking lots. 00:16:41 Speaker 2: Yeah. 00:16:41 Speaker 8: So kind of confident about it, uh, a little scared about the game, but you know, fingers crossed. But I'm just curious postgame show. Are we for sure doing one? 00:16:52 Speaker 2: Yeah? So let's uh, where where are we going to be if we win? You have a place, Ballpark Village, Ballpark Village. 00:16:58 Speaker 4: Now it won't be the sound will not be playing, but we will be there at Ballpark Village, which is close to the baseball stadium and people are welcome to come say hello. We don't have a speaker, so we can't play the sound, but you're welcome to come by and celebrate with us at Ballpark Village. 00:17:13 Speaker 2: If we lose, then we will not be doing it in public. 00:17:17 Speaker 8: Awesome, awesome, All right, Well I'm saying seventy four or sixty five cats, let's go. 00:17:21 Speaker 2: All right, I appreciate it. So that's Paul Park Village. But glad he was able. 00:17:25 Speaker 5: To say, that's like a half mile from the Enterprise Center of the stadium the basketball stadium. They're only like a half mile apart, so it's an easy walk. 00:17:31 Speaker 4: We go to Draft Kings, Shannon, get ready for that disclaimer our Draft Kings parlay. You can bet what I want, or you can bet the exact opposite. You feel free to you. We will not hurt my feelings if you bet the exact opposite, because yesterday that would have won. Yes, I have Kansas covering on California, Baptist Saint John's covering on Northern Iowa, UCLA covering on UCF, and Utah State beating Villanova. 00:18:00 Speaker 2: LA in u c F. 00:18:01 Speaker 5: What's that spring and a half. You got u c l A covering. Yeah you see f is good though, aren't they? 00:18:06 Speaker 2: Yeah? 00:18:10 Speaker 4: Don't listen, no, no, listen the law of averages. I got all four wrong yesterday, get all four right? All right today? I see now. And that's what happens with DraftKings. You bet five, you get two hundred dollars in bonus bet shit. 00:18:23 Speaker 3: Yes, if you have a gambling problem wanting one hundred gambler eighteen plus Kentucky only eligibility restrictions apply. Bonus expirers seven days after issuance. Four additional terms were responsible gaming resources to a dk NJ dot c slash audio limited time offer. 00:18:34 Speaker 2: I love Jim Higden, but Kentucky plays in an hour and a half, and he's sending Shannon and I the votes in the legislature for him. Legislation. Jim Kentucky plays in an hour and a half. 00:18:45 Speaker 5: Get it. He's getting it off the tables now. 00:18:47 Speaker 4: Because he thought I was worried about it. When you be able to focus on the game, yes, exactly, all right, Let's go Cats. In the Santa Clair Broncos Broncos Kentucky is now two and a half point favorite first round of the NCAA Tournament, a game that, no matter what, we'll remember forever. 00:19:05 Speaker 3: Shannon go first, all right, Kentucky is going to get the win today. I'm tired of everybody being scared of Santa Clara. Kentucky wins it. Seventy seven sixty eight. I'm gonna say Otaga Away has a big game. He's gonna be our MVP. 00:19:18 Speaker 6: All right. 00:19:19 Speaker 5: Ryan Lemon watching A and M and Saint Mary's last night convinced me just the defense that Santa Clara is gonna see today is something they've not seen all season in Kentucky can really be a good defensive team. It shows up today seventy seven sixty three. And even though, yeah, Colin Chandler's got to hit some shots, so I'm gonna wheel him to a big game today, Colin channel to my MVP. 00:19:41 Speaker 4: You know we I can still remember individual NCAA tournament games from thirty years ago. 00:19:50 Speaker 2: Yeah, like they have that kind of This is a huge game. 00:19:55 Speaker 4: It's a huge game for a fan base, it's a huge game for Mark, It's a huge game just for momentum on the program. And there's also a level of this where we as Kentucky, right, Yeah, it's been disappointing. Understandable, but disappointing to see how scared our. 00:20:14 Speaker 2: Fan base has been. 00:20:15 Speaker 4: I get it, I understand why people are nervous. 00:20:20 Speaker 2: But we as. 00:20:21 Speaker 4: Kentucky, as Marcus Teak says, and they is Santa clair a team that hasn't been to the tournament in thirty years, and that was when they had a Hall of Famer on their team. I just checked, and I don't think they have a Hall of Famer on their team. 00:20:36 Speaker 5: The Chile would and run out of the tunnel. 00:20:38 Speaker 2: So for Kentucky, now it's time to be kid. 00:20:41 Speaker 5: Is time. 00:20:42 Speaker 4: It's time to go out there, exert our will get the victory and then get ready to play a second round game where we are the underdog and we shock everybody. Yes, Kentucky comes out, they are aggressive, they play well, they hit the shots they need, and even though it stays relatively close the whole game, they keep a cushion and Kentucky will win seventy nine seventy one over Santa Clara and get us to the second round. And we need a big to step up, and I'm gonna say Malachai Morainer Alakai has a big game, gets fourteen points. 00:21:19 Speaker 2: Nice and gets us the victory. 00:21:20 Speaker 5: Who's your secondary guy, It's got to play well today. 00:21:22 Speaker 4: That Chandler's got to hit shots. Yeah, Chandler hits three threes, we win. 00:21:26 Speaker 5: That's I'll take it. 00:21:28 Speaker 4: Two threes. We probably win. Less than two. I think we probably lose. So Chandler, I don't mean to put it on him, but I think it is on him. He's got to hit shots. 00:21:36 Speaker 5: Yeah. I felt the same way about that. This is his time to step do that. 00:21:40 Speaker 2: So you're outside threat channing, you feeling it. 00:21:43 Speaker 3: I think we got it. 00:21:44 Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know when we go off the air here, I thought we were already all we go to twenty nine, just like the regular show. 00:21:51 Speaker 4: Yeah, it's just something about the about the these pregame show things. But nevertheless, I'm ready to go, and I'm glad to see these Kentucky fans in this crowd. I hopefully, I hope there's gonna be a lot of them. And if you see me walk in the streets, just know that I'm extremely nervous. 00:22:08 Speaker 5: The fan base needs a big win today, that locker room needs a big win today, and our head coach needs a big win. 00:22:13 Speaker 2: He does he does for all the rest. Uh. 00:22:16 Speaker 4: We we all want Mark Pope to succeed. 00:22:21 Speaker 2: I think every single person. 00:22:23 Speaker 4: Listening to this we all want him to succeed, and thus this is a big one for him as well. 00:22:29 Speaker 2: It will make. 00:22:30 Speaker 4: Success here a lot easier if you can get this, get this victory. 00:22:35 Speaker 5: Get the win, and then we'll worry about Iowa. Stay in the next one. 00:22:37 Speaker 4: We'll worry about Iowa. Stated on Sunday, thank you back guys very much. We will be at Ballpark Village Village after the game if we win, to do a little celebrating, and then Saint Louis will see the man, the myth Ryan Legend out on the town tonight. 00:22:53 Speaker 2: If we get it done, Let's. 00:22:54 Speaker 4: Go get this victory for Chester, for Mark Pope and for Chuck Norris.
