00:00:04 Speaker 1: Welcome to NFL Daily, where we'd give up everything for Travis Hunter. I am Greg Rosenthal, and I am here upstairs in the NFL Network headquarters where Fantasy Live is usually kicking it. But tonight we are talking NFL Draft and I am with two of the best analysts in the business, my friends Steve Weiss and Patrick Clayband. We've spent the whole night together with fun. 00:00:29 Speaker 2: If the first round was exciting, right without like six or seven quarterbacks in the first ten, to see all this kind of back and forth, I love. 00:00:37 Speaker 3: This is a super fun first round, like starting off with a trade. 00:00:40 Speaker 4: Yeah, essentially because we all expected to see what happened at one, but then to get the trade that we were excited about the potential of and then it actually happens. 00:00:48 Speaker 1: It was good ant to just sit here kind of old school wise and just like watch a draft with my friends here and get to crack wise and we get to do it all again. So if you're watching on YouTube, we love you. If you're listening to us on the podcast, we got you covered. We're going to go through every single pick. But you mentioned the trade right off the top. Let's go to the start of the night cam word goes first, of course, but let's talk about what the Jaguars did. They kind of hinted over the last couple of days and even today James Gladstone does an interview it that said like be ready, we're gonna send some fireworks, and people were thinking it's gonna be Ashton Genty maybe that they try to trade up for, and instead they do the move that. Now that it's happened, I can't believe it wasn't talked about more throughout the process, which was a team giving up a boat load to go take a prospect in Travis Hunter that is different than any prospect we've literally every ever seen. I'm surprised there wasn't more of a bidding war. What do you think, Steve about the trade up for Hunt? 00:01:50 Speaker 2: Well, I love it because you heard Gladstone and Tony Bocelly come on say we're gonna be aggressive, we're gonna do things differently. And they draft the unicorn player in Travis Hunter, right, So is he gonna be offense? Seems so, But they need help with one of their corners as well. But they go out and they get someone who clearly is gonna you know, create a buzz. It's all about Trevor Lawrence. So now they get him the most explosive wide receiver in the draft of Fred Belinnikov Award winner and Travis Hunter. So the fact that they were this aggressive and you saw how you know, some of the how aggressive they were a little bit in free agency as well. You look, Brian Thomas here, got Travis Hunter. 00:02:29 Speaker 1: There, my guy, Brian Thomas. I mean, maybe he isn't the best wide receiver on the team anymore, crazy, but. 00:02:34 Speaker 2: My thing isn't even just a talent. It's the fact that this is a mindset with the Jaguars, like we could have stayed a five and taken Ash and Genty, like, you know, we have a pretty good couple of running backs back there, right, let's go out and get it. And I like the fact again they've got an analytics GM. Now Gladstone did the math, so this is what it's gonna take. And Cleveland was like, Gladly. 00:02:56 Speaker 1: I'll see, I'll stop you there too, I hear you. And the the analytics all that's great. First of all, you're getting two picks in one with Travis Hunter. Anyways, but to me, it was just about this kid is so special that whatever we need to give up is probably not going to be too much. And here's the deal again. They give the Browns the number five overall pick, so Cleveland, we'll get to their part of it in a second, decides to move down. They get the number thirty six overall pick. The Browns due, so they get they get another high pick in the second round, and they get next year's first, a fourth, and a six. They're also sent back like two fourths were, but basically they move back three and for that they get next year's Jaguars first and thirty six over ull. Like the trade chart probably says it's fair, Patrick, but I don't. I don't want to be in a world where I had the chance to draft Travis Hunter and I didn't take it because I think the analytics move says like, well, you don't really know if he's going to be that special in the end play the odds get the extra players. But in this case, like I don't like. 00:03:59 Speaker 4: Yeah from the from the Browns point of view, because it's never happened before, Like this is literally a player in a situation that is never We've never seen this, So I could see from from the analytics standpoint, it's, oh, well, statistically, what are the odds of Travis Hunter coming in and playing multiple positions? But from the Jags point, if you see and you know that, well we want to use Travis Hunter in all these different ways, then then yeah, like the the values to me, Adam, because it depends on how you see that future pick, and I would the way I look at it is the round value goes down because this is a draft that doesn't exist yet, So these are these are hypothetical players, but Travis Hunter is here now, and Travis Hunter can help your offense and your defense. Yeah, Like, coming into the draft, we knew the idea was the Jags are going to make a splash, and my feeling is they were going to move up for somebody, and when they realized the competition to go up there for Travis Hunter might not have really been that much. Okay, they make the deal because like, I don't need I can't do twenty twenty six. 00:05:06 Speaker 1: Right now, right But see and I hear that too, like I I don't mind picking up next year's first. We'll get to the Rams late later. Like I think it's smart to wait till next year to get like those picks have a lot of value. Now the Jaguars are saying, we're probably going to be in the middle of the draft next year. That's at least what they're betting on that they'll be like a playoff team or at least close. 00:05:25 Speaker 2: And Cleveland saying, guess what, we've got two first round draft picks, so we can use that as capital to go get our quarterback for the long term next year because they don't have that guy on their roster right now. 00:05:37 Speaker 1: Right but will Andrew Berry and Kevin Stefanski be there next season. 00:05:42 Speaker 2: It seems like there had to be some type of assurances in some way, shape or form, because one thing about Jimmy. 00:05:47 Speaker 1: Hack they have acted like they got all the job security. 00:05:49 Speaker 2: In the world because Jimmy haslam and you heard it at the Owners Mean, he's came out and said, we took a swing and we missed. We did the Deshaun Watson deal. So that's my media couple because I would kind of in on it. I think Kevin and Andrew Mary did this move knowing that unless things go completely in the toilet, they'll be back. 00:06:07 Speaker 4: I feel like has them took we out of that and he said that this is my decision. And then the first time that we see the Browns, like we see the Browns draft room, you see Stefanski and Barry, but then ominously immediately behind them, not like in a seat in the center of the shot, is has. 00:06:25 Speaker 1: Them literally over their shoulder. 00:06:26 Speaker 4: Lurking, actually over their shoulder, which makes me wonder, like, what decision making actually goes? 00:06:32 Speaker 1: Okay, I hear all that they went three and fourteen last year, they go three and fourteen again this year. The coach in the GM market all, no one's that paper. 00:06:40 Speaker 3: Well, then the next folks have the amo to get the quarterback. I would argue, igue, he's that patient. 00:06:46 Speaker 4: Man, Like, what what result? What other result than that? Like is the one that we're expecting. 00:06:51 Speaker 1: Well, we'll see who they end up with at quarterback. People think it's gonna be Joe Flacco. They have the second pick in the second round. They could wind up taking Sar Sanders. They could wind up taking Tyler Shuck. Eventually, they could who knows who. They could wind up still trading for Kirk Cousins. I'm not throwing that out of there. People saying they couldn't be cousins in Flag who knows, but with Hunter, I think there was at least some teams out there, and I think the Patriots were reported to have inquired about possibly trading up. But I think there were some teams, and I think the Jaguars were one of them that viewed him as not just the best cornerback in this class, but the best cornerback in the last handful of classes, the last ten years of classes. And then there were some teams, and I believe the Browns, based I mean, I believe the Jaguars, based on what they did here, are that team because it sounds like they want to play him at wide receiver, viewed him as a wide receiver prospect on the level of Jamar Chase, on the level of like what Justin Jefferson ended up being. And if you're thinking, Okay, we're going to start there. We'll see if the both ways thing can work, but we're going to start there, and we need to get this guy in the building. You talked about how twitchy. Oh my gosh, we were just talking to me. You can just see it. He moves different and you saw how he bound it up on the stage, like he's everything you would want a first pick of a new leave. 00:08:11 Speaker 2: We're real happy to be going to Jacksonville, didn't he? And here's here's something else to think about. Who's the team They've got to get past Houston? Who's stacked up in the secondary? Right now? They got the two young corners, they got a safety. When I got CJ. Gardner Johnson, we can't call him CJ. 00:08:27 Speaker 3: What do we have to call him? My bad? So that's the secondary. You've got it. 00:08:33 Speaker 2: So now you got a guy, you got a one and a one. So the guys who things to open up some things for your offense, you could possibly threaten that secondary. 00:08:40 Speaker 1: It's it's incredible. It's just a shot of adrenaline for a franchise that I think could absolutely use it. Yes, that's going to be playing in a stadium that's not their own stadium in a couple of years, that's playing these games in London, you know what I mean? Like they could use someone. And when I saw him bounding up on stage, and we'll talk about like his performance just as a human a little later too, but when I saw him bounty up at stage, I'm like, this could be the rare person. And you know, Joe Klatt on the NFL Network broadcast compared him to show a Tany, which makes a lot of sense to me. He'd be the rare person that's not a quarterback and could be the face of the NFL. Yes, and to have that be a Jacksonville Jaguar, like, I don't know, you just can't pay for that. And I think this one is it could haunt the brown Yeah. 00:09:26 Speaker 3: He checks literally every box. 00:09:28 Speaker 4: The Heisman Trophy winner, He's arguably the best wide receiver in the draft. His best play last year was a game winning forced fumble on the goal line. Like coming up and filling a hole like a linebacker. It makes it makes sense, I understand if you're talking about hypothetical football and the Cleveland Browns and it's like, oh, this quarterback who shall not be named, who may be there in twenty so I don't know, but Travis Hunter is there ten night now. 00:09:51 Speaker 1: To be fair, they're adding a real player in Mason Graham at number five overall. And before we get to the Giants switch because that they're the other big team tonight, I want to talk about let's just you know, finish with Cleveland, which you know they do get the second round pick that they have at the top of on Friday Night's draft, which is that's a great pick. And then they do have the thirty six overall, and this is a great draft to have those sort of picks. So you get the idea, and they do get Mason Graham, who I was not that high on in the process. Patrick, I think you disagreed with me. He just seemed like a player that was like Will Campbell, who will get to who I think in another class might have been drafted like around pick twenty. But in this weird class, someone had to go for someone had to go five. I thought Mason Graham might slip, so did Daniel Jeremiah, but he ended up going number five overall like a pass rusher that you put next to Miles Garrett, which is a good situation for Graham. 00:10:45 Speaker 3: And that's all it takes. It takes one team to like you. 00:10:48 Speaker 4: The Browns like Mason Graham at five, and so we'll never really know what the rest of the board looked like for the rest of the league regarding Mason Graham, like I'm thinking on down, like Walter Nolan goes off significant way, like I would have had a couple of guys on the interior defensive line ahead of Mason Graham. But if that's if that's the fit and and the way the Browns want to operate this, I'm just I'm skeptical of the operation. 00:11:13 Speaker 1: Anything that ever happens with the Browns. But the same could be said, you know about the Jaguars lately and it ended up working. 00:11:19 Speaker 3: Well. 00:11:19 Speaker 1: Let's talk. Let's talk Giants, because I think Giants fans are feeling good after what happened on Thursday night. They get their guy Abdull Carter. Yes, great fit. By the way, uh, you know, the pass rusher, clearly one of the top I would say three or four talents in this draft. To me in terms of just pure talent, it was maybe a three player draft in terms of Hunter, Carter and Genty. And I would throw cam Ward in there. I would do because I really like Kim Ward that much. But we'll get to cam Ward. Titans fans they know, they probably feeling a little slighted, but like the Giants, So they get their guy an Abdul Carter. But then they also trade back into the first round to make the move that frankly was you know, telegraphed by a lot of the media throughout the day. Jackson Dart ends up going twenty fifth overall. So the Giants get their guy in Carter, and they get their quarterback of the future and present. 00:12:19 Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean we'll see. 00:12:20 Speaker 2: I mean, look, let's start with Abdul Carter because again, you talk about a great fit, you can't have enough pass rushers. Right, they got Kveon Thibodeau, they got Burns. By the way, they picked up Kaveon Thibodeau's fifth your option, Right, I. 00:12:30 Speaker 1: Was surprising that that comes out in the middle of the draft. Yeah, I mean they they'll trade them on Friday. Is that allowed? 00:12:35 Speaker 3: Yeah? 00:12:36 Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean they could, but I don't seem to get traded. So they've got those three pass rushers. It brings you back to you know, straight Han Tuck and OC and Kyunuka and JPP. Having all these these guys, but defensively you're surrounding it. So now they're deciding, Okay, we're gonna play a certain type of football. 00:12:51 Speaker 3: We're gonna slow guys down. It's gonna be ugly, but this is what we have to do. 00:12:56 Speaker 2: Then they go back and get Jackson Dark And this is something you know when I thought about them afting a younger quarterback. 00:13:02 Speaker 3: Maybe he's a developmental guy. He's an RPO guy. 00:13:04 Speaker 1: Right. 00:13:04 Speaker 2: We see Brian day Ball when he was in Buffalo. He did great things with Josh Allen with that the one year Daniel Jones held onto the football, he was able to get Daniel Jones. 00:13:13 Speaker 1: How many years was he there though, like six years? 00:13:16 Speaker 3: It was just one year. That was the one year where he got paid. 00:13:19 Speaker 2: They picked him his contract and so you know, I think that's what they're trying to do to groom him. You've got Russ there plus and you know we talked about it during the draft. This gives them the option if they want to. If New Orleans does not settle their quarterback situation, maybe they offer up Jameis Winston for a seventh round pick. 00:13:37 Speaker 3: Right, maybe they can get some. 00:13:38 Speaker 2: Capital a little bit later, So Jamis should go down to New Orleans where he'd be welcome. Wouldn't cost the Saints that much. They've got to have a starting quarterback, so they've got some flexibility now in that quarterback run. 00:13:47 Speaker 1: Well, they said Russell Wilson was going to be the starter. 00:13:50 Speaker 4: Yeah, after the trade and the Brian day Ball talking to reporters. He said, Russ is our starter April twenty fourth, So that was there for now. 00:14:01 Speaker 1: Just he's our starter, don't you think, Like Kevon Thibodau's fifth round option being picked up during the draft, that was just like a bit of ego massage, Like hey Kevon, like we just drafted another edge rusher kind of your replacement, but you're part of our our team. Hey Russ, Hey we just drafted your replacement before you ever took a snap for us, But you're our guy. 00:14:24 Speaker 3: Is I don't understand what it does? 00:14:26 Speaker 4: Yeah, why why bother does Russ need that particular massage? 00:14:29 Speaker 3: Or yeah he can beat him out then, or or they're. 00:14:33 Speaker 1: Just Russ is a guy that that I don't know. Like he talked about himself, he carries himself like a starter. He's only get he's not getting paid like a start. He's making ten million dollars. But when I look at Jackson Dart, he does seem like of all these guys at the top, him and Melrowe, I could see the vision that some teams would have for both of them in different ways, but they seem like the two biggest projects to be like the ones that would not be ready Day one. 00:14:54 Speaker 4: In defense of Jackson Dark like the Ole Miss offense can either make you look like, well, you're you're just painting by numbers. It can hide like your your overall talent at quarterback Matt Correll, or it could you know, you could be a giant fraud. That's that's fooling everybody like it's. 00:15:12 Speaker 1: Matt cral Sorry I should have gotten there. 00:15:14 Speaker 4: Sorry, And you know, Mat Correl's is doing all right and it's not getting burned up right now and here in his neck. But I think that's the thing that it's tough to get people get out of people's heads, is looking at Jackson Dart and saying, is this Matt Corral. 00:15:28 Speaker 1: Plus I I didn't see it with Jackson Dart totally just because he's such a projection. When you watch that offense, not only is it not an NFL offense, he's just not doing quarterbacky things. And by that I mean like manipulating the pocket going through his reads one to two to three. You saw it with I don't know if you saw that clip of him with John Gruden where you know he's talking about not even calling out the play is all he's doing. Is that's him and his other his other play call. Those are the two play casts it for Jackson Dart. So there's a long way to go. That combined with the fact to me that he panicked under pressure a little bit. Now he also like made a lot of throws while he got crushed. He was certainly on not a freight or anything. But I'm saying in terms of like going through your reads and like being able to be kind of calm in the pocket, you just you didn't see that. Now. That said, if you were gonna pick a guy, a point and shoot guy who could take what Jackson Dart does really well, and he's really talented, like he is athletic, he's got a good arm. You see the throws on tape when you like they are there. Brian Dabel is a pretty good pick for him. I think if you're Jackson Dart, this was a pretty ideal situation with some weapons around you. I've thought that the Giants are a little more ready to go than other people. I think their offensive line is better than people think. I think Dabele is the guy to develop him. The problem is he's got to stick around long enough for it to work. It might have to be this year. 00:16:56 Speaker 2: Here's the only real issue I have with this, because if they like him, that's fine, But why they have to trade up to get him? I mean, soon as you look at the teams that picked behind him, the Ravens, they're not taking a quarterback, the Choye's not taking a quarterback, Washington's not taking a quarterback, Buffalo's not taking a quarterback. 00:17:09 Speaker 3: Philly and Casey aren't taking quarterbacks. Why did they have to Why did they have to trade up to go get it? The power of hope. 00:17:18 Speaker 4: Trade up, you get a quarterback, you sit on the using the principle of he's the only way for him to be good is to not play the game that we need him to play ultimately, and so he sits for a while, and you give yourself a little bit of insurance because hey, we got Jackson Dart back there. I know this season is not going too well with you tomorrow. 00:17:35 Speaker 1: That's your answer. And it's one of the things I love about this whole weird draft process in the industry we're in. This is where all the rap sheet reports and he certainly wasn't the only one throughout the day of like, hey, the Giants are going to do this, Hey, another team might do this to trade up I think have real world impact that the Giants feel like if we don't trade up for them, maybe the Saints will. There was a lot of Saints Jackson dark buzz. If we don't trade up for them, you know, maybe another team, maybe the brand. 00:18:09 Speaker 2: It shows you how much you like them then, right, Because Franklin, I'm kind of like, so. 00:18:13 Speaker 1: What so you're reading those other reports out there and you're feeling like, we probably not only need to win eight nine games this year, we probably have to show that we have some sort of future with a quarterback. That is a very tough needle for these two men, Joe Shane and Brian Dabele to thread like they have to do it or else they're going to get fired. So you give up what you need to get them. And to be fair, they didn't give up a crazy amount, so I didn't go over the trade terms, but they traded their second round pick that's number thirty four overall, UH and then their third round pick and then third next year. So essentially they gave up two third round picks to move up nine spots. That's a lot. But if if you're about to get fired and you're in. You're betting your future of the French for the next you know, three years, you're not going to start. 00:19:03 Speaker 2: Yeah, Houston's like, okay, great, thanks because we got to add to players. 00:19:06 Speaker 1: I should mention, yes, Houston was the team that traded down from twenty five, absolutely crushing my son, Walker. I really shouldn't mention my son too much on this show. But there is no greater pain than a young child who stays up late for the draft and then they're staying up late and then their team trades the pick away like before you can, you know, go to bed and totally just. 00:19:31 Speaker 3: Say, Walker, don't worry. All the reporters who cover the team are feeling more pain than you because they've got nothing to write about. 00:19:36 Speaker 1: That's true, he says. I'm mad. I'm sad. I hate the Giants. Why do they have to be some mean some things? I can't even say, Walker if they Anyways, this is all. 00:19:47 Speaker 3: I want to get to four because that's that's the pick that got you real excited. 00:19:50 Speaker 1: Okay, Yeah, let's let's move on to to Will Campbell. Actually all right at this point, let's let's go at order now. Because those were to me, the two the two biggest. Right, I don't want to do the thing that ESPN reportedly did. I wasn't watching the ESPN broadcast. Of course, we were in here, were watching the best draft broadcasts out there. This is one time where I don't feel like I'm a company man. I will say it with my chest. We do the draft better than anyone. 00:20:14 Speaker 3: We do the big events. We do the big events better than. 00:20:17 Speaker 1: And and I love watching Daniel Jeremia up there tonight. He was great, CD rich and the whole thing. And we were watching and apparently on ESPN like all they did was talk about Shudar Sanders and the second the cam Ward pick happened, they complained they thought should or should have been the pick, and then they just went on to the Travis Hunter trade. So let's give kim Ward a little bit of love have in his moment. The Tennessee Titans. As much as we expected it, now, we didn't. First of all, we didn't know three months ago, and we certainly didn't know like a year ago. And if you think of the journey that cam Ward was on, he was a like wing tea quarterback in high school that could not get anyone interested in him. He goes to Incarnate Ward, has an insane season at a low level of college football, gets to Washington State finally, and this is after just like his dad has spoken about this, going all over the country just trying to get someone interested in his kid. Just couldn't make it happen until he went to college. And then they did it again at Incarnate Ward and they made it happen, and then here he is. I didn't even realize this. I'm surprised this wasn't said more. He's literally thrown more touchdown passes than any Division one quarterback and isn't that crazy? Do you think that would be a bigger deal? 00:21:33 Speaker 3: You think, like tiy dad, where somebody to bring him young would have like that record as watching that you should throw the ball up. 00:21:37 Speaker 1: It shows me I'm not a great college guy because I learned that today. So shout out to cam Ward. And I think the Titans fans should be really exciting and happy that they turned down some of the offers to move up. The reporting was that the Giants really wanted to move up to take him. 00:21:51 Speaker 4: And it's almost appropriate that that some vehicles didn't give cam Ward the attention he probably deserved as the number one overall pick, because it's par for the course that they have to drive around and essentially beg people whose job is allegedly to evaluate talent, and a guy who was ultimately going to break an NCAA record and be the number one overall pick has to do everything to become a part of the recruiting process. Is really an indictment of them, But it's a testimony and. 00:22:17 Speaker 1: A little bit of an indictment of Mel Kuiper. I love Mel Kuiper, but just the guy didn't even get taken in the first round. 00:22:23 Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, we'll get to that par later. I'm not gonna crack on on Mel. 00:22:27 Speaker 1: That was great. I just mean his number run over all player at the first I mean, and look when you watch cam Ward play, I mean one thing, I love his competitive You know, we talk about guys who compete. 00:22:35 Speaker 3: It's different with some guys. 00:22:37 Speaker 2: Right when I used to cover the NBA, like Kevin Garnett competed like every second his life depended on the way he played. Some of the guys were just gifted and did things like that. And I'm not saying she do or someone that fits into that second category. But the way cam Ward competed at Miami and the way he uplifted everybody, he's gonna have to a whole lot of uplifting at Tennessee because they that roster is still very devoid of any type of nucleus, Like there's really no position group to build around right now. So he's got a long way to go to build some stuff up that includes the skill positions and things like that that they're gonna have to do better. They've got to nail this draft all the way through. But I think he's a good starting point. I don't think it's gonna be a Jaden Daniels type of resurrection, but I think he is a good starting point for them to build around. 00:23:22 Speaker 1: Yeah, and if you think about they're gonna have their their pick at the top of the second round. They don't have the first pick because it's the Browns have that one. But there's just the way the draft fell. I don't know if there's a receiver they're gonna love there, we'll see that. That's a conversation for Friday. Nick Shook is back in the mix, and Nick Shook and uh, he'll be with me recapping Friday and all right, let's get to Will Campbell. So Draft Day, the great movie I've still never seen, I have to admit watase, I just know that the phrase is Vonte mac no matter what. And for me as a Patriots fan who's getting back into the team now after I kind of gave up on them a little bit for a while, but now that Drake May is there, I'm back in my opinion tonight was anyone but Will Campbell no matter what. That's what I didn't want, Will Campbell, and they they took Will Campbell fourth overall, and to me, he was an example like Mason Graham, of a class that just didn't have a lot of blue chip talent and people, I just don't love that fourth overall. You're taking a guy who immediately like, well if he has to play guard or center, like you're already talking about him moving inside that he's not as physically talented. You're making a. 00:24:39 Speaker 3: Sense of it. 00:24:40 Speaker 2: So what so what you saw that offensive light? You just said you loved Drake May. You're back on the wagon. Yes, he got his ass kicked last year. Yeah, guard, center, tackle, you take the best offensive line, you kick him in. 00:24:53 Speaker 1: I thought it was armand member, but Bembo looked like everything about Membo screams to me, Oh yeah, that's what a top ten pick at tackle looks like. Incredibly athletic. I know Will Kimball's tasting score was athletic after he drops twenty pounds in all this, and maybe he'll be good. I don't know. I guess I was no more than me that the tape really wasn't all that, that he's caving in and that he did everything possible to have the best college career ever. But is he going to translate at the NFL level? Or does he project more like I don't know who am I think of Eric Fisher like just like an okay guy who's gonna maybe be the twelfth best tackle in the league. I want something better than that. 00:25:36 Speaker 4: Steve, the twelfth best tackle in the league is somebody you would kill for. 00:25:40 Speaker 1: You, not if it takes like four years to get there, and that guy want you. I want Membo. I wanted Membo, or I wanted genty or I just want I want a premiere talent. I want a guy that has a chance to make a lot of Pro Bowls. Maybe he will, Maybe he'll be Matt White, who was another guy who had some weird measurables and like was kind of a tough, try hard guy, ended up making. 00:26:02 Speaker 2: He's got He's got a little bit of this with the Matt like stuff. What mentality the mentality of the character, but. 00:26:08 Speaker 1: Also start killing me for this appoint Yeah, the. 00:26:10 Speaker 4: The physical traits are there, it's not. It's not as though Will camp If Will Campbell's arms were an inch longer on either side, like the discussion would have been entirely, entirely different. But I do think like it does play into his particular play style. 00:26:24 Speaker 1: Not to be that guy, but just like the body like him versus Membo. Just I think people usually care about that sort of stuff. 00:26:32 Speaker 3: Depends depends on what you're trying to do. 00:26:35 Speaker 4: I just think a player who gets who gets on campus and baton rouge and plays all the way. Now like Gate he was, he was he was running to wear the number seven as a as an offensive tackle. 00:26:47 Speaker 3: Right, there's there's no there's nothing wrong. 00:26:51 Speaker 1: Okay, let's let's listen to to Will Campbell because I gotta say, once he got on the mic with Jamie or Dall, he started to wouldn't be over. 00:27:00 Speaker 5: I've worked my entire life to be up here, to be able to get my name called by franchise like New England, it means everything too me. 00:27:09 Speaker 3: We can feel that, we absolutely can feel that. 00:27:12 Speaker 5: Well, you are brought to New England to protect Drake May. 00:27:15 Speaker 3: What kind of tone are you going to set on this offensive line? 00:27:18 Speaker 5: I'm a fighting guy to protect them with everything I've got. 00:27:23 Speaker 1: Let's do there we go. 00:27:26 Speaker 4: I saw, I saw, I saw it change and Greg, the moment that happened, that's what I love. 00:27:30 Speaker 3: Do you remember say that when you got talked to up on stage? 00:27:33 Speaker 1: I don't remember. 00:27:34 Speaker 3: Remember he was at home any. 00:27:36 Speaker 1: It's like, did I did I blake out for that? 00:27:40 Speaker 3: Yeah? 00:27:41 Speaker 1: I guess this is just a general thought and I and I obviously could end up being wrong. Everyone can be wrong about any of these. When when the evaluation leads with the intangibles, which I feel like Campbell was like the number one guy of that in this class, that's always a bit of a red flag with me and and the and then Vrabo was talking about how much you wanted, you know, guys who could carry the weight of the number four overall pick and real patriots and this it all just feels like, you know, uh, reducts from what happened with Belichick. It's like, no, I want just like super talented players, not just nice guys. 00:28:15 Speaker 4: Because people go with the intangibles all the time, it never means anything. All of this tangibles are actually there. Yeah, he's an explosive. 00:28:23 Speaker 2: It started literally every game at left tackle and you know what a private workout rabels and outside backer was working and working his tail and he put the palls on my exactly the hands on. 00:28:34 Speaker 1: By the way. Shout out to everyone in the chat, now we love you. Someone just said very metal behavior by maybe yes. 00:28:41 Speaker 3: It is, Yes, well done. 00:28:42 Speaker 1: I don't feel like it's happening though. I feel like Patriots fans are are going to be loving this pick because of everything that you just said. And I've been skeptical of the whole Rabel era, and yet I should be on so spoiled then I am spoiled. All right, let's go, let's go to the number five. Overall, we got to start picking up the pace here. But this was the top of the draft. So that was Mason Graham And you mentioned the weird vibes that were in the Browns room, Let's go to the Raiders. I thought it was really interesting that they only took about two minutes before drafting Ash and Genty after all the draft you know, speculation for months, the first guy on forties and free agents, the podcast they did with Daniel Jeremiah, the first Team fit that he just was like, I'm just hearing like Raiders and Genty, I think that's gonna happen. That was That was like eight weeks ago, and it actually happened. And everyone like me who follows this stuff too closely, almost Jedi mind tricked ourselves this week because they almost were two out fronts making it sound like they were going to take Genty. But they did take Genty, and I'm glad they did. Gino's got a fun weapon, what a cool offense, him and Bowers. 00:29:49 Speaker 4: And it makes me look think back to Pete's time in Seattle, where it's the Chris Carson's it's the round out running backs. Of course, Marshawn, Marshawn and generational. But that was a Bills draft pick that defines his way to Seattle where I'm looking back and I'm thinking, well, maybe the running back drafting situation was more Schneider than Pete, and Pete gets this opportunity with his new team, and they get this player who's done things that we have not seen in twenty or thirty years at the running back position, and it makes sense. 00:30:26 Speaker 3: It's the only thing that makes it. 00:30:27 Speaker 2: They were the worst rushing team in the NFL last year. They averaged less than eighty yards game running the football. They were terrible. Now they've got to fix some things on the offensive line. But Chip Kelly showed his evolution. Like he's a guy who came from kind of that wing T style stuff, a small school up in the Northeast, and he's really evolved. He is very creative and what he can do. So I think genty in this offense because he can catch the ball out of the backfield as well. So now you've got a home run hitter, you got a banger. 00:30:55 Speaker 1: You got a home run hitter that plays tight end with brock Bauer, that is a starting point. You got a solid receiver for at least one more year in Jacoby Myers. I'm really curious what they're gonna do. They've got I think they're absolutely a sneaky Shuldar Sanders team at the top of the side ground. I don't think they would trade up for Sudar, but I think if he is still sitting there, they could take him. It just that makes some sense, I agree. 00:31:21 Speaker 3: But the. 00:31:23 Speaker 4: Main takeaway is in the last two drafts, the Raiders have gotten two of the best three players in college football. 00:31:29 Speaker 3: Yes, yes, easily. 00:31:31 Speaker 1: And uh genty shows up there with the diamond and crusted crocs. That was him, right, Yeah, that was amazing. I love Ashton Genty. 00:31:42 Speaker 2: Uh. 00:31:42 Speaker 1: If we look at the running backs taken in the top ten over the last ten years, it was girly. I would say that was a triple or a home run, considering what even if you know Zeke, that was a triple or a home run Fournette, I'll give it a single because it gave him a little bit for a minute there when when they did make the AFC Championship and then Saquon and Bejon home run. I think it's going to be a home run. So over the hit rate has been high for taking armand Membu goes to the Jets at love it number seven. I absolutely love it. I think sign of the times. I think they got the better offensive lineman even though they were there we go the Patriots. 00:32:22 Speaker 2: Well, well he's a right tackle, right, so they can a bunch of RPO stuff. Now that Justin Fields is a quarterback there. You know, the offensive coordinator comes up from Aaron Glenn comes up from Detroit, so you get a guy who can mash right. 00:32:36 Speaker 3: They built the offensive line. 00:32:37 Speaker 2: They got some players along that offensive front, so bris Hall, he saw bres Hall with the you know, fingers crossed type thing. So I really like this pick. It's it's a physicality statement and to keep on building right there. 00:32:50 Speaker 1: They are going to build an offense around Justin Fields that I don't know if it's going to work or not. Tanner Engstrom is the coordinator right from Detroit, but I think it's going to be around Justin Fields. I think they're going to do everything that they can to be a difficult defense to prepare for. That is a run first team with an offensive line that on paper is sneaky offesome. 00:33:16 Speaker 3: So it's pretty good. 00:33:16 Speaker 1: It's like Joe Douglas, the former GM, spent his entire tenure in New York trying to build a good offensive line and he didn't really get it done until his last year there, and they were still Shorre to write tackle and now they add this guy Membu, who I'm really high on, and it's like they could be fun. I think I said it coming into the draft, but the Jets over under five and a half was like the worst line out there. I'm killing that over, not that we're allowed to. 00:33:41 Speaker 4: Yeah, you make one significant change and all of a sudden things start to look a whole lot better. You can start making your actual picks and go through free agency with your actual acquisitions, where it kind of shows you how dysfunctional things can be and how quickly they can turn around when you have a cohesive plan that makes sense to everybody. 00:34:03 Speaker 1: And by the way, if if you end up going back and watching this on YouTube, you're with us life. I'm not being rude, like texting while my friend Patrick is talking, but I'm just trying to send the tweet out. It's just I looked up and I'm like, I look like a jackass here texting. Good show. Let's go to number eight Carolina Panthers. Surprise, you're not happy with them taking team a tet McMillan, one of the first real surprises of the night. It's funny because everyone was like chaos, we're gonna have casts and the Jaguars gave us a little spice. But to be honest, it wasn't that kadok kaotok tonight. It was relatively predictable in terms of teams and fits and roughly where players would went. But Tet McMillan to the Panthers was surprising to just about everyone except for my our buddy Josh Norris, who we had on earlier this week, who is digging the connection se well. 00:34:50 Speaker 2: I mean I like some of that. I mean, look, he's someone who should be able to come in and help. They need receiver help, they need to help out Bryce. But this defense was historic glean terrible, historically terrible. They had nothing on the edge. And you see the first twenty eight picks, ten of them were defensive linemen. So you know, iro Edra one of the better defensive coordinators whose career is going down the toilet now because he's got no players on that side of the ball. 00:35:20 Speaker 1: They wouldn't let him leave those. 00:35:22 Speaker 2: Yeah, but they've got I mean, they have better really commit to that side of the ball the rest of the draft. I mean, I get in Teed McMillan he's a talented player. You got to help the offense. But this defense is it was historically garbage with someone who's considered one of the best tacticians and schemers in the NFL. 00:35:43 Speaker 1: But don't you got to just take what the board tells you. There, it's interesting that no defensive players went other than Carter in the in the top eleven. 00:35:51 Speaker 3: Okay, so they take tet right. 00:35:53 Speaker 4: Then four picks later, Michael Williams goes to San Francisco and then Kenneth Grant comes off the board. Jalen Walker to the Falcons. Shamar Stewart like, if if the if the value wasn't lining up for how they saw the defensive prospects that there were plenty of teams shortly thereafter that saw the value for them. 00:36:12 Speaker 1: I would push back on that because to me, now, Tet t Mac he was a risky prospect. There were there were was talk about him that he was kind of. 00:36:23 Speaker 3: Casual. 00:36:24 Speaker 1: Casual was the word that you use, and and DJ even hinted at it throughout the draft process. That look like if he was not the primary guy, he was not running those routes out too hard, he was not blocking. He maybe didn't play as hard this year as he did his year previous when he had a better coaching staff and maybe didn't think he already had kind of locked in the topic that said, he was as productive as any wide receiver in the league, and you just look at him, and I would argue, to finally get to my point that like if the Jags had taken him at five, they were reportedly thinking about him, if if they didn't end up moving up for one hundred, like that would have made sense to me. He's a guy that I think fits what I expect out of a top ten to twelve pick. And maybe these defensive players, at least how they saw and how maybe I see it too, like that they were getting pushed up the board a little bit where it was like you could just pick any of them, but in most drafts they might have been fallen a little further at least in terms of ceiling. I mean that dude looks like a number one receiver. 00:37:19 Speaker 4: Ex I just I saw the promise right from Cocher last year. There was there was a solid there, It was a solid deal in season, He's he's going to be back, Lee Get's gonna get better. I just felt the need and need is going to put you in a lot of places if you're drafting strictly based on need. But it was so glaring that they needed somebody to make plays on the defensive side of the ball. 00:37:43 Speaker 3: I liked it. 00:37:44 Speaker 4: I think all the amateur psychology is a bit too much sometimes, where we've got a bunch of Charles Xaviers evaluating players. It's like looking at when they're trying harder when they're not. I don't necessarily put a whole lot of faith in that. But the defense is Steve pointed out, as we said, week after a week last year was so bad. 00:38:04 Speaker 1: Shout out to ted team he wants to be called t all right, shout out to him on the stage, zough shouting out his marriage. Is he going to be in the Polynesian Hall of Fame? 00:38:15 Speaker 3: So last year he was a Polgies Football Hall of Fame's. 00:38:17 Speaker 1: College Player of the Year. 00:38:19 Speaker 2: So yeah, so he's got a shot to get. You know, he's got to beat up to a school for like the next five years to be the pro player of the year. But he's based, you know, based on his potential. 00:38:26 Speaker 1: Shout out to the North Shore of Hawaiian favorite places on Earth? Where the where the Paly Hall of Famers and then shout out to Josh G. Norris just quickly, Uh, yesterday he tweeted this out to Uh. He sleuthed it. He he pointed out who was on Jed Fisher's staff in Arizona, Brennan Carroll. Pete Carroll's son. Pete Carroll was Dave Canalis's mentor and coaching, his north star and coaching. He was on the staff with Dave Canalis in Seattle, and his brother was his brother, Nathan Carroll was on Dave Canalis's staff in Caroline. So a lot of Carrol Canalis connections and they had the pipeline and maybe the coaching style to tap into t Mac's best and feel like, hey, we have the confidence this kid's are right, Like we know how to coach him up. And it's telling to me that at someone that knew him better in terms of inside intel than anyone in this class ended up drafting. So I think that's going to be a. 00:39:23 Speaker 3: Much just the right type of stuff to get it out of him, right. 00:39:26 Speaker 1: I think that's going to be a better pick than the Saints who took Kelvin Banks. Well, I mean it's hard to just kill picks. We don't know, but like Campbell, you're taking these tackles. Who the first thing you hear from a lot of people is like, yeah, if it doesn't work out, how move inside the guard. So that could be the Kelvin. 00:39:42 Speaker 3: But that's just the thing. That's just the general thing that people say. 00:39:45 Speaker 2: Okay, you know, like I don't know if that's his player dependent And that's also how the great Saints teams were built. 00:39:53 Speaker 3: You're seeing more and more teams built guard to guard guard center guard. Look at the Kansasy Chiefs guard center guard. 00:40:00 Speaker 1: But why are they taking him? In part because they keep messing up these picks. Well, he's helping to replace Trevor Penning, a pick that they traded an extra pick up for a few years ago. You know, been up up and down injuries at best as a first round pick. So it's kind of like Jason Light the Bucks GM Later we'll talk about him like I just trust him implicitly at this point, the Saints have lost my trust. It was really interesting when the Bears came up, they kind of had their pick and they went with Colston Lovelin, not you know, making Patrick happy. 00:40:31 Speaker 4: Well, it's not just making me happy, because going in right, I was on board as a Herald fan and guy and I went back into Tyler Warren and I just said, I can't picture anybody else being in the number one Titan in this class other than Tyler Warren. And I feel like perhaps the Bears in their evaluation might have expected Warren to go before number ten, and so it's like, oh, well, Lovelan's going to be there. We also like him, but then they now had the pick. 00:40:58 Speaker 1: You're just saying they didn't do an homework. 00:41:00 Speaker 3: I'm not saying that they didn't do enough homework. 00:41:02 Speaker 4: I think legitimately they believe right they have the opportunity to take both. But they've pictured what things are going to look like. And I think the perception of Ben Johnson and what things were, what this offense was going to look like based on Detroit, that would feel like that was a Tyler Warren opportunity. 00:41:22 Speaker 1: Interesting john more of a Loveling to me, You're hoping he's Sam Laporta plus. Yeah. I mean, look he's pretty traditional. 00:41:31 Speaker 2: But he got some flex potential too, so he can give you a little bit Keenan Allen did not give you last year in that offense. I'm thinking the only reason they went this way again I haven't spoken anybody, is because maybe Warren has a little bit of Cole Comet in him, right, and they didn't want to necessarily duplicate guys. 00:41:47 Speaker 3: I don't know. 00:41:48 Speaker 2: I mean, Warren's best, but that's the only reason why I can see them well. 00:41:54 Speaker 1: I think Comett's probably not long for this roster, Like he'll be on the team this year. After that, it's year to year. I think he's at that point in his career and it's just a new staff. That's just how things worked. And to me, Loveland was a guy who who is just more of a natural fit into every system. I think if you had Tyler Warren, he's not a gadget player necessarily, but just such a unique guy, you're gonna have to have a special vision for him, whereas Loveland is I think everything you're looking for in a tight end. It's why we took him in our mock draft. We took him ahead of Warren too, and we were trying to project what would happen, but we had the Jets taking Loveland. We had Warren going to the Bears ultimately because we thought were there both out and like, Warren only waited four more picks. Let's just talk our Warren. So that was the top ten picks. We'll go a little out of order just because the tight ends, to me are an interesting conversation that Warren did fall that hard man. I think it worked out for him. M's perfect. I mean, you could say any pass catcher on the Colts like that's dicey because there's not a lot of receptions to go around. But I do think Shane Steichen is the type of guy who can make manufacturer touches, which is maybe who Tyler Warren is right now. You're going to really have to coach him up in terms of blocking, in terms of route running. He's more of a raw physical talent that you're excited about and I am too. 00:43:14 Speaker 3: It wasn't like wishcasting. 00:43:16 Speaker 4: This isn't vapor where Tyler Warren caught one hundred and four passes last year at the tight end position. They snapped in the ball directly, and we're running screens and stuff to him because he was literally the best player on the football field. And I feel like it's not that he is a gadget that you have to manufacture touches for. It was just the best circumstance for Penn State right to manufacture touches for Tyler Warren. And so I don't want folks to think that Tyler Warren is just like he's not out there beating He's not out there beating coverage and getting open because he had to do everything for the team. 00:43:51 Speaker 2: He's got some brock Bowers yet him. He's got some brock powers to his game. He's got that type of speed, catching and breakaway just to do a lot of creative needs. 00:44:01 Speaker 1: I think he's got more of like Anthony Richardson, which is that And by that I just mean he's first of all, he's not as physically talented. He never tested, so we won't really know, but that he's like a really unique I'm just better than you. I'm gonna run over your face, like Jeremy's shocky type of guy that's good raw and needs to be molded and it's in a really unique talent. And that's just why I think maybe he only is gonna fit some teams, and I think the Colts are one of those things. 00:44:32 Speaker 3: Can be great with that. Look what didn't affiliate with Dallas gott or zach Ertz? Did he? I think he was with Gage for a little bit of Gates. 00:44:39 Speaker 1: You need a whole lot of It's a good group Brown Richardson and or Daniel Jones, Jonathan Taylor, Pittman, Josh down to to me. 00:44:48 Speaker 3: That offensive line needs a little work. They took some hit. 00:44:51 Speaker 1: I thought they were gonna go lineman. They didn't. Let's we'll circle back to the to the forty nine ers who picked out eleven. Shout out to Pete Schrager who who said earlier this week, Michael Williams is going to go earlier than people think, and Colston Lovelin's going to go earlier than people think, and he hit those two. Williams from Georgia was the second defensive player taken in this. 00:45:11 Speaker 3: How about that? But it goes to Robert Salah. 00:45:13 Speaker 1: With very little production. I didn't see it when I watched him. Obviously, the forty nine ers can scout defensive lineman a little better than me watching like ninety minutes of Michael Williams or whatever. But a guy without a lot of production but toolsy, and they needed an edge and yeah, like I like, no one had him as the second defensive player taken until about twenty four hours. 00:45:38 Speaker 2: It's interesting though, because you know, Danny Jamia's comp was Rashan Gary. He's a guy who can have a ton of production coming out of Michigan and look at how good of a player he has been for the Packers. 00:45:49 Speaker 1: And in the right spot where maybe the best defensive line coach in the league and it kills the huge the So this is one where I even though what do I know, I'm just gonna be like, Okay, I'll trust the forty nine ers know what they're doing there. The Cowboys didn't get on the clock, and we think they're gonna go offense there, whether it's running back, whether it's Matthew Gold and they do go offense, but they go Tyler Booker guard out of your Alabama Crimson Tide, it is yours. Yeah, No, I mean you're Alabama kid. 00:46:19 Speaker 3: Well, yeah, I'm from the state of Alabama. 00:46:21 Speaker 4: My wife did go to the university and I and if not for Nick Saban and covering the team, I probably wouldn't be sitting here having this conversation with you guys. Yeah, shout out the coach. But Tyler Booker probably one of the bright spots on the on the front for the past two years where there's been a lot of turnover and a lot of problems. There were some injuries as well, and he was the most consistent player on the team. And like, like you guys, I'm sitting here thinking about the picks, I'm thinking about Dak needing another option like tight end makes sense, wide receiver makes sense, which we were kind of in the spot where I was trying to give me golden to everybody. But in hindsight, now that the dust is settled, this pick does make sense. 00:47:06 Speaker 1: It does, and it's a larger point that we can mention now. The premium to acquire offensive lineman now in the draft and in free agency would indicate that it's the hardest position other than quarterback to fill period. 00:47:25 Speaker 3: Like yeah, that. 00:47:26 Speaker 1: There's not to me. Before you could have made the argument that edge and at times cornerback like what's valued. It's like, no, the NFL is telling us by how much they are pushing up all these guys and they're just so desperate that the only chance you can find good ones is if these guys all go earlier, because if you look at the consensus board, which is like the average of all these big boards, even Danna Jeremiaes boards, like these guys are getting pushed up so much higher than expected every draft. You just saw it with Kelvin Banks going right. You saw it with Campbell in some way, but you definitely see with Banks and Booker, who we were talking about, maybe the Texans will be choosing between them at twenty five. Yeah, good luck. They went at nine to twelve. 00:48:10 Speaker 3: And again, he's a guard? Are we good to talk about guards here? 00:48:13 Speaker 1: Guards are cool? 00:48:14 Speaker 3: Okay? 00:48:14 Speaker 1: I decid, don't want to hear that he's a tackle and then so what. 00:48:17 Speaker 3: Kick him inside the guard? Because what are defense doing? 00:48:19 Speaker 2: And we're talking about hybrids right, We're talking about all these defensive players who can do this in that the double A gap blitz, all the stuff coming up to the A gap to try to get and face of these quarterbacks. Guards are people too, greg. 00:48:31 Speaker 1: They drafted a Hall of Famer Zach Martin who just retired. 00:48:35 Speaker 3: You know what they're doing here. 00:48:36 Speaker 1: They deserve the benefit of the doubt drafting offensive lineman. They hit with Tyler Smith a few years ago, who they're going to want to resign if. 00:48:43 Speaker 3: You folks thought that was a huge reach for right at the. 00:48:45 Speaker 1: Time, people thought that was a strong great point. Tok. Tyler Booker last year, which is just a TVD. I don't put anything into his rookie year. He was a developmental guy. They knew he was going to take some time. We'll see if he turns out to be their left tackle in the future. And now they got their third Tyler Tyler Booker. Kenneth Grant was up next for the Colts. I mean for the Dolphins, rather huge need one. I think their fan base maybe saw coming that they literally have no defensive tackles on their roster, so it was a little bit of just like they had to take one, and they had no run stoppers on the roster. I think they expected to bring back Kalais Campbell, and even if they had Kalais Campbell, they almost had no defensive tackles on the roster then and then they lost them, and so they take a guy in Kenneth Grant, who I liked a lot when I watched him. I mean, there just aren't many guys that big that can move the way he moves. He's going to be a run stopper who maybe becomes a good, you know, third down guy as well. Eventually, let's go on to fifteen and let's talk about the two Falcons picks. Yeah, okay, we'll combine him. The Falcons are sitting there at fifteen, and they get a hit for Daniel Jeremiah in they're in his mock draft. Jalen Walker, who was rumored to maybe be as high as the fourth or fifth pick in this draft, ends up falling to fifteen. Little bit of a hybrid but probably gonna be just an edge rusher primarily in Atlanta. And they get a big time pass rusher, and then late in the night, the twenty sixth overall pick, the Falcons trade back into the first round to take James Pierce, a very divisive pass rusher from Tennessee. So they try to address their pass rush problem with two picks in the first round, but it costs a lot to get it. They gave up a first round pick next year to the Rams. The Rams are now rooting for the Falcons downfall all year because they got their first round pick. The Rams also get the number forty six overall pick in this class, a deep class man that was a big price to pay to get James Pierce, a guy that most teams I don't think loved. But he also was a tracy, toolsy guy with some production. So there betty on a home run. 00:51:01 Speaker 2: Look for a team that just avoided edge rushers for the Plague, a team I used to cover. Right when they traded for John abraham Er, they got him free. I think they traded for the Jets. He's the last true consistent edge rusher they have had that's like twenty years. That is a vacuum of not putting pressure on quarterbacks. So now they too scoop it like I don't like them giving up a twenty six first round draft pick. 00:51:23 Speaker 3: I did they have to do that. 00:51:25 Speaker 2: They must have felt that maybe Baltimore or somebody was going to get our Detroit. 00:51:29 Speaker 1: He was going to go at some Detroit. He was probably going in the top thirty five picks. I had to move up correct. So that's what they probably had to get ahead of Detroit. That's probably where he was. They felt he was going to go right Detroit picked at twenty seven. So they go ahead and did it because to me, it's a feeling of we got to win this year. 00:51:44 Speaker 2: We got to get to the quarterback this year because I'm going to sacrifice the first round pick because I might not be drafted not anymore to use these picks if we don't get this right. So to double up, you get two edge rushers on rookie contracts. Raheem Morris very much trush him. Jeff Aulbrick is his new defensive coordinator. Guy's very, very good at what he can do down there, especially with defensive front of Caden Ellis, who I continue to say the most underrated defensive player. Look up a pressure on a quarterback from the inside spot. They've got some opportunities there, but you better be locker room player, accountability strong to ask a lot of two young edge rushers to give. 00:52:23 Speaker 1: You well, it's interesting. DJ made a great point on the on the telecast of that Jalen Walker can be to their defense what Michael Pennix is to their offense. He was I thought a guy that Patriots might take because I thought he fit that mold of Will Campbell. Uh the intangibles are you hear about right off the bat and look, his strength is his power Like he's an exciting player. He kind of reminds me a little bit of like a beefed up Caden Ellis, like, it's going to be interesting. How they got a little you know, Zach bond to like he'll be a fascinating guy, whereas James Pearson is a total opposite a guy that people were worried about. You were talking about the guys who were mentioned about motor. James Pearce is maybe that guy or maybe just like a not a natural instincts football player but just has a lot of speed but doesn't really know how to play football. That that well, it was kind of the knock on him, and so they're an interesting combination. But man like Fonto's been there since Matt Ryan was there. You can think that this is like early in their rebuild. It's year two of Pennoxy or two of Raheem Morris. But Fonto has been there a while. He needs some results, and to me, he went full Mickey Loomis. He just picked a guy that he wants that has some traits and he's like, I'm going to get him no matter what it costs. I'm going to just trust my evaluation and you better be right. 00:53:41 Speaker 4: Yeah, clearly they were prioritizing edge. I didn't like that they announced Jalen Walker as a defensive end. Oh that's all. Yeah, I know his hand size for a linebacker. Maybe they're projecting his frame is going to get a little bit bigger as things go wrong. And also his role where and really there's a dichotomy between Pierce and Walker where you have the circumstances of the defense and Georgia having all of this depth and talent, Walkers being asked to do all of these different things, and James Pearce was in a goreek havoc just. 00:54:15 Speaker 3: Go fly off the edge where maybe. 00:54:18 Speaker 4: They both kind of meld into into a similar circumstance where they're on either edge of the line for years in Atlanta, and you know, for Terry and the folks who've been waiting for that edge to get to, like. 00:54:33 Speaker 1: You never want to go full Loomis though, but here the last thing by the way for people who are just joining you, Like, I don't know why everyone would know the history no long time was with the New Orleans Saints matter, that was where he was forever. 00:54:46 Speaker 2: But Rahiem Morris had something to do with this as well, because he probably saw what he did with Byron Young. Somebody a third round draft pick defensive end out of Tennessee. Some is a body type of walker who's turned into a hell of a player for the Rams. Okay, then they go out and they get a physical guys Jared Verse last year as a rook who comes in and reach havoc as well. Now they've got some studs on the inside. Atlanta's not quite there yet, but raheem Morris's ability to create things to get those guys going. 00:55:11 Speaker 1: We also heard rap Sheet start the broadcast by saying, hey, right now, they're just planning on having Kirk Cousins actually that he could really be their backup. He was at work, euse, we'll see where we're at at the end of this process. Just just wanted to throw that out there. I'm not sure if I totally believe that. I think it was also the Falcons had to give the draft graders out there some red meat. I felt like this like this other than me, like people could get on the Browns. I guess a little bit for trading out for Hunter, but it felt like it was tough to really criticize too much in this pack. And then the Falcons for the second straight year. Gave it to people. Last year, I really defended the Falcons. I said, I think it's okay that you drafted Michael Pennox and what you gave up for quarterback is everything, and you don't know what you're gonna get out of Cousins. I think that worked out well for them. Frankly, the Cousins thing didn't, but I think it worked out well. This I'm not going to defend. Let's go to our next pick. I'm all mixed up here and talk about my guy, Walter Nolan. The search bar now has some players the Cardinals defense, so Walter Nolan, the old Miss defensive tackle, Ghost Arism. 00:56:18 Speaker 4: And another player that goes on our motor Motivation watch list, where there was a lot of that discussion where I literally was trying to figure out what it was what Walter Nolan did to run a foul of in it. 00:56:31 Speaker 3: Apparently I think it's a shape transfer. He was put from one place to another, which is apparently a crime. 00:56:38 Speaker 1: I agree with you Patrick that it's fair to be skeptical of the whisper campaigns that go out in terms of motivation and things like that, but that stuff does matter and I think where it ends up mattering the most is where you can see it on film. And I think when you watched Walter Nolan's film, if you took the top twenty five plays of his film, I think he goes top four in this class. I think he's probably the best defensive player, literally the best. Like he's Albert Haynesworth. He looks like Albert Haynesworth. Y're Chris Jones or something, but similar to Chris Jones falling, like you just see him, according to people I talked to, but I watched it too, like you just see him just kind of just out there sometimes, and it was a little unpredictable. He'll take over a series and then he'll just disappear and like not give great effort, and so you're trying to figure out the reasons why that is. But I personally loved him and was hoping like he would go high, and he ended up going pretty high. 00:57:29 Speaker 3: We heard me talk about player accountability a lot of people. 00:57:31 Speaker 2: You can coach this guy, those players, and I've noticed, especially interior defensive players, if you don't have dudes around him. Like when I say dudes, dudes, we're like, no, no, we don't do that here. You bust your tail on every play and everything you do. If you don't have those guys around him, they're going to fall back into that muscle memory. So I hope he doesn't do that, but I have just seen that too many times in all of my years, and again with it over and over with defensive interior guys. 00:57:59 Speaker 1: I think Jonathan, though, is a good coach for him in that he's good at getting guys who can play multiple positions. Nolan's going to be a penetrator, but he can be really flexible, like of course I'm giving the highest of highest possible outcomes, but I think, like Chris Jones, I think you could use him in the way that that the Chiefs used Chris Jones, where he's inside, he's outside. He's that type of player, and so I think that's the right defense for him. Shamar Stewart is a guy you would never question his motor, uh Patrick, I don't think anyone but nobody did. Nobody did. I think he was in such an interesting prospect because he didn't have the sack production, but the physical traits were just out of this world. And the Bengals love guys like that, and he was known as a guy who's like the effort was through the roof, like Jalen Walker, where like he never cheated you for effort at I at all. Really intense and one of the guys in this class that I thought had the best performance on the stage and just the intense. 00:58:58 Speaker 3: Yeah, well kill Roger Goodell. I mean he went and hugged him and his arms are like eight feet long, and I think he did the double wrap straight jacket on him. 00:59:08 Speaker 4: And and then Jamie had to rescue the interview because he didn't he was either so juiced up or perhaps upset about the weight he was heated, doesn't like you know, spaghetti chili like either way, like something was going on. 00:59:25 Speaker 1: He you could feel like a cauldron of energy inside. He was not okay, needed to be let out. And that actually made me really like him. 00:59:34 Speaker 3: You know. 00:59:35 Speaker 1: I was like, oh, I want I don't not want to go against that guy. I don't want to. 00:59:39 Speaker 3: Everyone was just like, oh, you know, he maybe get the eventual place for Trey Hendrickson. Maybe. 00:59:42 Speaker 2: Remember they lost Sam Hubbard, who was an evert guy on the other side, who was a seven or eight sack kind of career guy each year. But he was disruptive, and that's the one thing you hear about short. He's disruptive, disruptive, disruptive. If you can disrupt enough for this division, that's enough for Trey Hendrickson and maybe some other guys because his defense only needs to be okay. Yeah right, And this is a really good start. 01:00:10 Speaker 1: It was a position they really needed to fill. It's a little bit of a boomer best guy. He's a little close to me in profile, to Miles Murphy who hasn't worked out for them. No, sort of similar to Sam Hubbard in a in a weird way in that like good player, not a lot of sack production like that. That was the actually heck, that was Trey Hendrickson's rep coming out of college and it took him a little while and then he turned into an incredible, incredible. 01:00:36 Speaker 4: But Trey Hendrickson is the guy that if he gets twenty pressures, he'll get sacks on sixteen of them versus Sjamar Stewart was getting pressures all over. 01:00:44 Speaker 3: The place, but wasn't getting the quarterback down. 01:00:48 Speaker 1: Shout out to the chat who wants to know am I related to Ken Rosenthal? Oh, I've been getting that question on social media for my entire career. No, Rosenthal very common name among the Jews, and we're both dominion diminutive, and we're both sports superstars and we're getting it done. So shout out to Ken Rosendal. Never met him, but it seems like a really nice guy working over there for Fox. Uh. Let's move on the eighteenth pick the Seattle Seahawks. I think we got this pick. Jordan hit it. We we agreed on it, but Jordan got it right when we we did it in our mock. I don't think we got many picks right, but we had Gray's Abel. Uh. Daniel Jeremia's favorite player in the draft. You gotta love with your team drafts Daniel Jeremia's favorite player in. 01:01:33 Speaker 3: The draft because he was seen a Bowl superstar. 01:01:35 Speaker 1: And and that he fits like an awesome need for them. I think so that was absolutely that was need matchup. 01:01:42 Speaker 2: Screaming need he can go anywhere. 01:01:45 Speaker 1: I thought they I thought they might go wide receiver there because Buka was on on the the clock, he was available and and Matthew Golden was as well. The Bucks end up taking a Meika and Buka surprising and this was where I just give it up to Jason Light At this point, I see the vision. You weren't a bigg Buka fan Patrick in the process. You just thought maybe it was some some like Jersey scouting that he was getting a little overrated, because. 01:02:12 Speaker 3: Well, I do think there was some Jersey scout. I just didn't. 01:02:16 Speaker 4: I liked a couple of prospects more than Agbuka. But this is a good spot. But it feels like the rich getting richer potentially, like at this position where I'm not sure how much of an ad to an offense that was scoring a billion points anyway, almost at will what we're doing, unless it's a long term type deal, which I guess could go. 01:02:38 Speaker 1: The way receivers are paid now. Wide receiver rookie contracts are really valuable that first round you have him under control for five years. I mean, Chris Godwin and Mike Evans are incredible. They do not have five years left. They might not have three years left with the Bucks, so it's a long term play. Godwin's coming off a really serious injury, so it's also a short and you. 01:03:01 Speaker 2: Know Mikevis, like you said, he's he's in the twilight of his career. You can't sit there and say these guys are going to be there for us all the time. With God, the Niners got themselves boxed in by not replenishing at a lot of positions. And I think that's what the Bucks have done. They've drafted offensive lineman when a team they didn't need a draft offensive lineman. They've drafted interior defensive line focus and it hasn't seen it and it's worked. 01:03:22 Speaker 1: And they, like some of our friends that we had on NFL Daily, Dohn Ledyard, Olie Connolly, I was listening, they ended up in the end the more they watched in Buka, they put him up there ahead like it or right with Ted McMillan and Matthew Gold. And I think he saw differently the feel that you were getting from reporters and kind of around where teams had all different rankings for these receivers, and some teams really loved Agbuka as like a true top fifteen pick. The idea coming into tonight, we talked about it before it even started, was like, he's not getting out of the top fifteen to twenty, and he didn't, So the Bucks take him. They build strength on strength. The Broncos surprise everyone. They don't go running back, they don't go wide receiver. They go Today Baron and that defense Vance Joseph is set up for a monster season. That is a wild defense the Broncos are building. But I am surprised they didn't add a weapon for Bonick Patrick. This might be my favorite pick of the first really. I love it because this is a guy. He's got a nose for the ball. When he gets his hands on the ball, he's dangerous. You know, Rod Woods in the Hall of Famers always like the most dangerous defender is a defender with his hands on the ball who can make a play. He's that type of guy. 01:04:26 Speaker 2: Right, So you've got Certain on one corner, Riley Moss on the other corner, he's probably going to be in a slot, right. They added tano Hu Funga as strong safety. This is a defense that already like it. 01:04:38 Speaker 1: They've made it moreloaded, and now they're loading it up again. They are not playing they they I think, are just speaking truth when it's just best player. I think when a pick like this happens. First of all, they're looking at running back of wide receiver. Two positions that are deep can we get a running back that we like in the third round, can we get a wide receiver we like in the second round. Maybe they feel that's the case, or maybe they feel like Jeremiah, who had Baron as his ninth player at points in this process, and when the Broncos went up to pick, was just easily the highest player on his board, and I'm sure he was in the Broncos board too, and they're just like, we got to trust like that. We think this guy is a special Cooper Degine type of guy. That's who DJ competed. 01:05:14 Speaker 3: Yeah, that was the comp to Cooper to Gene and I love it. I think it makes it. 01:05:18 Speaker 4: And Steve mentioned the way that he plays on the ball, and they'll be back. They'll be back on the clock at fifty one, well with a chance to get that back. And I don't necessarily ascribe to the knowledge to the logic of oh, well you can get a good running back anywhere. 01:05:31 Speaker 3: Yeah, if the if the guy is. 01:05:32 Speaker 1: Good, I mean in this class, it seems like it, or at least they'll trust their evaluation. It seems like you will be able to get a good chance at a running back. Later. The Steelers pick next, they had Derek Harmon from Oregon pass rushing defensive tackle top D tackle on the board. They were getting a little older in terms of their defensive line, although it's still very good. But to get a tackle, yeah, they needed a D tackle, maybe an eventual Cam Hayward replacement, although a different type of defensive tackle, but he fits in. I hadn't heard. I didn't know what to think about Harmon in the process. A lot of different opinions on him. But if the Steelers are into him, I kind of trust what they do. When it comes to the front seven. Then the Chargers come on the board. And our friend Gavin, who's working on the show tonight, big Chargers fan, didn't want Omarion Hampton when we put him on the team. In the mock draft, we drafted Amari and Hampton, and Gavin gave us a big thumbs no thumbs down, rather in the back and you know who they take, Amarion Hampton. I like Sho I like the combo the UNC running back. Give Justin Herbert some juice, let's watch some offense. 01:06:38 Speaker 4: And I like getting an explosive player. I would like an explosive player that Justin Herbert can throw the ball to and so it's not necessarily a critique of Omarion Hampton, who is, yeah, to me, the second best back in the draft. You get him in a good spot. But there were options to make the offense in total more explosive and not have it be the all lad show. And I think we're gear into it's another season of just its lad and and pray to God we can. 01:07:04 Speaker 1: Help tell you know, there's there's round two, there's round three. Let's let's not. 01:07:07 Speaker 2: Say they had to get some pop out of the backfield they had. I mean, Najie Harris is just not you know, he's your physical. 01:07:13 Speaker 1: He's a one Maury Hampton's a guy to build a round and shout out to again Jeremiah who if you were listening to our our show on running backs with the Maury's Jones, Drew and Jeremiah. He put Hampton on the Chargers. He thought that sort of explosiveness you get, you get your big pop guy, you get your chain moving guy in Harris, and they just need to add some speed anywhere. I thought they would take Matthew Golden, but I'm kind of happy they didn't because then the Packers got to take him twenty third overall. It gave a great moment of him taking their first receiver in a long time. Why am I I'm spoiling it. Let's let's listen to Mark Murphy, the the outgoing UH team president of the Packers, with. 01:07:58 Speaker 2: A twenty third pick in the twenty twenty five NFL. 01:08:01 Speaker 1: Draft, the thirteen time world champion Green. 01:08:06 Speaker 3: Bay Packers for the first time since two. 01:08:10 Speaker 4: Thousand two, raft a wide receiver. 01:08:16 Speaker 3: Listen to this crowd. Oh baby, Matthew Golden whye resaver Texas And he's here, And he's here. 01:08:28 Speaker 1: That was great. 01:08:28 Speaker 3: That was great. 01:08:29 Speaker 1: And then when he came out and uh, just just the crowd pop and his jacket and just everything about it. You could tell from him it was a tough night waiting, waiting that long, but then the payoff to get there and get on a great team. 01:08:42 Speaker 2: Yeah, he couls go to play with Jordan Love when and then Matt Lafleur won the great offensive play callers, play schemers, and. 01:08:49 Speaker 3: It's a really talented receiving group. 01:08:52 Speaker 1: I mean, it's it's funny. It feels like they have like he fits right in with another guy, Like I think he could be the best among the maybe the most complete if he ends up being I think everything that he can be. But it's almost like they have like five number two receivers, you know what I mean, maybe all those two threes that do different things. That's kind of who he is. But I think he's probably a little more complete if I really think about it, than anyone in that room. They all have something they do well. But when I see Golden, to me, he is almost a prototypical like one two that the guy like a better version of maybe a Jordan Addison I'm trying to think of, like a good conference but a guy that can do it. A Maconkey if he really worked out at the highest of high levels. 01:09:37 Speaker 4: Yeah, and it's a player with explosiveness where we don't know, like week eight nine, if Christian Watson is going to be able to be white by that point, and we know, considering the history, the all of the conversation about who's the one, everything, the Packers have done extensive work on this and to make this pick at this point with this player, I think we we know that Green Bay is going to utilize Matthew Golden, Yes, in a way that's different where I love we will know that that he is the. 01:10:11 Speaker 1: One Fantasy owners won't love it because it's just got to be like. 01:10:14 Speaker 2: But as Mark Morpher pointed out, they went first round picked with him. 01:10:18 Speaker 3: They haven't done that in two thousand and two, right, So. 01:10:22 Speaker 1: Shout out to Mark Murphy. I never I never knew until tonight that he was a former All Pro All Pro safety, I mean in All Pro Safety team president and uh shout out to the Packers for the mandated age limits for their executive roles that he has to leave his job because he's turning something. No slight to Mark Murphy. I'm just saying that makes sense to me a big time you know positions. Maybe maybe you shouldn't just have their forever. 01:10:49 Speaker 3: Just saying. 01:10:51 Speaker 1: Donovan Jackson was the pick at guard to the Vikings, one of the I wouldn't say. It wasn't like a total shock that he went first round, but not a guy people were talking a lot, but people loved him. He was a guy I was hoping would get to the Patriots, maybe the second round guard. They took their guard in the first five picks, but they really better get over that. They bet on offensive lineman. 01:11:12 Speaker 3: I hope he turns out to be a studler. 01:11:14 Speaker 1: Now I do too. It's a no lose situation for me. They bet big on offensive linemen like in free agency, and they did it. Uh here it's a three interior offensive lineman for the Vikings. 01:11:28 Speaker 4: I can't get over like, I don't know Will Campbell going to the Hall of Fame versus Greg being right, those two are. 01:11:35 Speaker 1: Either way. Either way, I have good. We already talked about the Giants at twenty five getting Jackson Dart will be talking about that all off season, and the Falcons and how they traded back in. So the Ravens were up next. 01:11:48 Speaker 3: It was just it's just destiny every track. 01:11:50 Speaker 1: They get Malachi Starks, the safety that that falls too far, and that's what the Ravens do. There is something it is kind of funny that all the money that you spend on everything and Scouty and and everything that goes into it, and yet the Ravens and the Eagles, who are the two best at it, they kind of go off the consensus board more than anyone. They kind of take the guy that's falling every time and it works out. 01:12:12 Speaker 3: Really, it's just the perfect fit for what they do. 01:12:14 Speaker 2: Like the Ravens like they've got Kyle Hamilton, arkably the best safety in the NFL. R Darius Washington, who's a hell of a safety filling came in and played like ten. 01:12:24 Speaker 3: It was great. 01:12:26 Speaker 2: And now they get Malachi Starks. Now maybe Ardarius Washington can move into the slot where they move Marlon Humphrey, you know last year out of necessity. So that's second. 01:12:35 Speaker 1: I mean, it's just like, are you happy as a. 01:12:38 Speaker 4: Like Steve mentioned, the moves in the secondary were out of necessity. There was an open revolt at the safety position non Kyle Hamilton early on where he didn't know what who was going to be armfield and then Kyle has to come and play first. I mean, he can play anywhere, but having him go back to his natural position where they've there's always a couple of like there's that guy on the Kirby Smart defense and now they've got two of them where Malachi was that guy and Rokuan was that guy, and they get. 01:13:08 Speaker 1: To my only, my only caution for you and for Ravens fans out there, A it is just tough to come in in the secondary right away and play in the NFL like you're hoping to be average as a rookie, if your average as a rookie, you're getting somewhere that is not an easy defense to pick up. That's not an easy position to pick up for the Ravens and stuff. Nate Wiggins like is a good example last year who taken around the same spot at a cornerback for the Ravens. I think they're gonna be excited about him moving forward, but it you can't expect him to be caught. Not everyone's Kyle Hamilton. It's all I'm saying. So if in two years he's like a plus safety, I think that makes a lot of sense. And that is what will happen right away. Like it's just it's difficult to come in right away and like be a huge impact. 01:13:53 Speaker 3: I think he's he's protected quite well. 01:13:56 Speaker 2: Okaya, Quin Mitchell and Cooper Degeni will poop all over your coming to make impact. 01:14:00 Speaker 3: Is a rookie deep By. 01:14:01 Speaker 1: The way, Detroit Lions probably take the most surprising first round pick on the night, although Tyleek Williams from Ohio State was getting more buzz as the draft process went along, and he has a preposterous highlight reel. I didn't go back and watch TYLERK. Williams other than just his highlight reel. I mean he is massive. He is how NFL players used to be in the nineteen seventies and eighties, like three. They list him at three forty. I don't believe it. He is like three sixty That's what I think he is, and six two sixty three and moves pretty well and stuffs the run. And he's like the Bill Parcells planet theory. There are not many people on the planet that can move like Tyler Williams. So even though he was surprised to go in the first round, it's like, oh, yeah, the Lions took a guy like that. That kind of makes sense to me. 01:14:50 Speaker 3: I mean it's like your famous New England pages, no sackle. 01:14:52 Speaker 2: Yes, I'm blanked will Fork Vince Wilfork right, but he's he's refrigerator Parry right when you talk about kind of shorter, squa hyper athletic, and he fits the Detroit Lions. They've got some nice players at defensive tackle, but they've got to get started of the middle because they know what's coming in that division and they're seeing the way, you know, everybody else is kind of building to match what they've done on the line to scrimmage. 01:15:16 Speaker 1: That's a great that's a great point. It's almost like they have to defend what they have started. We talked about the bike right, This run thing and comparing him to to Will Fork is interesting too. Like I think early on the ideal will the idea I think will be if he can be a great run stopper, that's that's the plan, and then in time he could become a pass rusher like Vince was coming out of Miami, one of my favorite all time prospects. Amazing that he felt. Where did he fall to in the draft fourteen or twenty? 01:15:44 Speaker 4: Yeah, the best, the best defensive player, well, one of the best defensive players and one of the best teams of all time. 01:15:49 Speaker 1: Right fall made no sense. Put him in the Hall of Fame. Eventually, Josh Connery again, we could talk about with Donovan Jackson and every single offensive lineman got got taken. Josh connor Ley and Oregon tackle, everyone got taken earlier than expected. He goes to Washington, Everyone including me, thought they'd go edge rusher there, but they certainly need another long term tackle with Laramie Tunsel there. Maybe connor Lee is at right tackle or maybe he's at left guard for now, had his big supporters. I listened to the Nate Tice Mike Tys podcast and he was Mike Tyson's OT one in the entire class. And that's a man who coached up offensive lineman very well in the NFL for a long time, and he thought Connor Lee had the most potential of any player in this class. So interesting pick by the Commanders. The Bills take Maxwell Harriston. We're getting ready to go on and do this so our producer Eric couldn't even watch it. But the cornerback that everyone kind of thought was gonna go to the Packers, Speedster runs that four. 01:16:48 Speaker 3: To two Kentucky great ball skills. 01:16:50 Speaker 1: You're read a four to two at the Combaine. You're going in the first round apparently. 01:16:54 Speaker 3: Yeah. 01:16:54 Speaker 2: I mean, look and they know what they know what they have to do to get to a super Bowl. I mean, you got to stop the eight Flowers of the world. You've got to stop those receivers in Cincinnati. 01:17:04 Speaker 1: I'm having kayri Elam flashbacks only because he was taken at the end of the first round and he was a combine night and they had a massive need for it. It was the same situation. Hopefully it works out better. 01:17:15 Speaker 4: I think they have a better idea of the way they're going to use Maxwell Harriston. 01:17:19 Speaker 1: It felt there and then the final two picks of the night, and we still have some other things after we go through the picks, but they were just so typical for the team, so perfect. The Chiefs trade up or trade back one spot with the Eagles. So the Eagles either thinking someone could trade up there, maybe the Chiefs were saying so, or the Eagles were just worried that the Chiefs were going to take Jahad Campbell actually give up a fifth round pick, not much but something to move up one spot and take Jahad Campbell, who Jordan and I had him getting taken in the top ten. DJ had him over all of his players in his top twelve. A guy I really love watching off ball linebacker from Alabai, had really serious medical concerns he might miss the start of the season because of the shoulder surgery. And maybe there's a little more long term people are worried about more than just like is he going to get ready for Week one? He ends up falling. Very typical Eagles move. Take the guy who's falling more than anyone else that has a ton of talent, and oh, by the way, is from like Alabama or one of the massive SEC schools. Pretty awesome. 01:18:25 Speaker 3: It's just so Eagles, you know. 01:18:27 Speaker 2: But that's what you can do when you have that amount of riches, right, you can take a risk on a player, develop them like they've done with so many other guys, if he doesn't have to play for a year, and have him come in and be an impact contributor. 01:18:39 Speaker 1: So that again, we made some beautiful graphics if you're watching. So we got through twenty one to thirty the picks there like a lot of offensive linemen and stuff. We get to Jahad Cammel and then we wrap up with Josh Simmons, is the final pick, one that was mocked pretty commonly to the Kansas City Chiefs. H ends up just being one pick later than everyone expected. 01:19:04 Speaker 4: And I think what Andy Reid said tonight after the draft was that if not for the ptel attendant injury, Josh Simmons would have been gone in the top ten and the Chiefs would have never even had the opportunity, I think, and plenty of folks right who've had an ACL repair they harvest the pateeller tendon. It's a very often used piece of piece of human that goes to fix another piece of human where I don't think there's that much concern about Josh Simmons long term, and it's a great spot. 01:19:38 Speaker 1: Yes, I don't know though attendants it's more than an acl is. 01:19:42 Speaker 2: I guess it takes longer you typically to recover from the. 01:19:45 Speaker 4: Yeah, because the injury can be so traumatic and you've got to find material from somewhere to go there. But if the medical grade is good, like on film, he goes before these other offensive lineman out of a state. 01:19:59 Speaker 1: I think there are a lot of people that would tell you if he stayed healthy and played the way he played for the first few games, because the first few games of the season, I think he showed a level with that got him drafted tonight that maybe people didn't totally see on tape the year, you know, before he developed like like a lot of players do. If he played like that all year, I think he's fourth overall to the Patriots tonight because he's he's that guy. He's the prototype of what you look for in an athletic tackle, and he looked dominant and looked like a really you know, smart and talented player. So the Chiefs they get a potential future left tackle at thirty two. That that that's it in terms of going through the picks, I do want to just go through just kind of some moments from the night before we go around and maybe say our favorite picks. If you have any one thing that that stood out to me, I mentioned Travis Hunter. I'll just start here. Before it even NFL Network is on and they show a clip of Travis Hunter dancing forty five minutes before the draft starts to I'm every Woman. And this clip, to me was the moment I was like, well you better, you better move up in the draft and take this guy. He is everything. He is like you just feel like how comfortable he is, how much fun he is having, how much fun you should be having. And he's out there dance that I'm every Woman in front of like one hundred and twenty five thousand people. 01:21:34 Speaker 3: Oh you gotta love It's getting down of Chaka Khan to the house band. You know, he's just but he's but he's that joyous guy. Right. 01:21:42 Speaker 2: That's the one thing all he does is he plays football, video games and goes fishing and dances to Shaka Khan. 01:21:48 Speaker 1: Have you ever heard of it? I mean obviously you have, but like when he is in an interview, like what I think it was. What you see, what you get when you combine that guy and the guy who loves football so much that he's not only talented enough and that the game slows down for him enough in a way where he sees it at a level that just mortals do not, but that he loves the game enough that he wants to play one hundred and twenty snaps a game. That's it's literally a perfect prospect at two different positions. Anyways, I just I love that little. 01:22:21 Speaker 3: To the extent that it dictated his college choice right right. 01:22:24 Speaker 4: And if he's if he's in the coaching world and the circumstances are different, people would call him a genius. 01:22:30 Speaker 1: We say one of one a lot. He's one of one, and that is down to him just enjoying the night. So that that was a fun moment. 01:22:36 Speaker 2: That's that's a great point Patrick made about his college choice. He's out here dancing to Shaka Khan at lambeau Field, and when he came out of when he came out of high school, college till high school in Atlanta. He could have gone anywhere. He goes to Jackson State right in HBCU, and that got Nick Sabe and everybody all, Hey, what the hell is this kid doing going. 01:22:56 Speaker 3: To Jackson State? Because you went to Dion. He felt most comfortable there. 01:23:00 Speaker 1: He's look where he landed. And that's only because you got to take a quarterback. One other than other than that, he's picked. 01:23:06 Speaker 3: One and he's going to Florida. 01:23:08 Speaker 2: Watch him elevate, watch him elevate all of his teammates around him, because the type of player that he. 01:23:12 Speaker 1: Is, like, that's what I root for, and that's why I was rooting for to the Steelers. Yeah, well just because I thought it'd be an exciting story to follow. And we'll see where he ends up. We'll get to the best available guys in a second. But did you guys have any any moments tonight that stuck out to you? 01:23:31 Speaker 4: It was Matthew Golden. Okay, the excitement, the feeling of the crowd welling up and everybody there for Mark Murphy kind of getting the excitement going to what I what I really wanted was the shot of Matthew Golden walking out, and you know, the the highly paid draft attendants that are upfront close to the stage. 01:23:51 Speaker 3: I wanted to see the people. 01:23:53 Speaker 4: I wanted to see the people who have been back there for six seven hours standing on people's shoulders to get a glimpse of who the Packers were gonna take. 01:24:01 Speaker 3: And Golden and this opportunity. 01:24:03 Speaker 4: It was just a perfect moment where I'm almost glad the Chargers and the Cowboys and these other teams that had a chance to take them didn't take them, just so we got that. 01:24:12 Speaker 2: I love that the Gladiator kind of silhouetted are you are you entertaining type thing. I forget the player whose baby was throwing up, he was at his house, but it's a viral video. Yeah, yeah, it's a viral video. I can't remember his baby bat spinning up has become viral. But that's not my favorite moment. Mine was the Mark Murphy, the Packers CEO, the outgoing CEO, just really giving up to the fans. I mean, he's such a knowing Mark the way I do, and so upstanding, and him to show that excitement and that joy because he's like a very right here dude, and to give it to the crowd like he did in the city, that the Green Bay and the packers worked so hard to get that draft there. To me, that really was kind of. 01:24:53 Speaker 1: Another moment that was all about Green Bay because it showed the incredible crowd that I was there. I just didn't think that many people could possibly be there, one hundred and twenty five thousand people in the town that doesn't have that many people that even lived there. The shot of the entire crowd at the very moment where Clay Matthews referenced our president and that he had just gotten off the phone with him and was making a joke that he wanted to send a message to the people. The fact that the NFL network director I'm not sure who it was, immediately just took the camera off Clay Matthews in that moment, worried like hell of like what is about to just like happen, And instead Clay Matthews just takes a shot. I would say he landed the plane. I would I still don't. 01:25:43 Speaker 3: Who landed the plane, the director who pulled through the drone? 01:25:45 Speaker 1: The director is who I'm giving the best moment to. I don't really Clay Matthews. It could have been worse. I guess he set such a low bar for how that started that I was worried about how I was going to end that. At least I was relieved for how itted some other funny them they you know, the house band played Don't Stop Believing a couple of times. That was fun Goodell was wearing. According to Colleen Wolf, she believes they were Air Force ones, some like kind of souped up Air Force ones. She wasn't totally sure, but she got kind of a look at Goodell. Shout out to Colleen, by the way, who did a great job, not just at the stadium and you know, in between, not for the TV arms, but on TV with Laura Rutledge of ESPN announcing that the schedule release will be May fourteenth, so we know when we're doing our game debut show. 01:26:31 Speaker 2: By the way, yeah, schedule releases all May release and for those for those who don't know, the NFL typically does not release that date until like two days until they're going to release the schedule, so this is different. 01:26:44 Speaker 4: And by Steve's saying release, that's that's also when we would find out. 01:26:47 Speaker 1: That's what I love that company. Man. We got a graphic up for it. I didn't even know we had all that good stuff there. We should talk a little bit about day two, so I mentioned Nick Schuk is going to join me. We're wrapping up here, but Nick is going to join me after Friday's broadcast. Not planning to go live, but although who knows, maybe we could change our minds. Hadn't really thought about that for Friday night's Podcastle's let's think about the best available players. Let's start at quarterback. So no Jalen Milroe, no surprise, Shu Sanders still out there, Tyler Shuck who definitely has his fans out there. Those are probably the big three, although man late in the process, Will Howard from Ohio State was definitely getting some buzz. Gruden loves him. I think some McVeigh tree type teams will love him. They're out there at quarterback. Let's keep the conversation there just quickly, just what do you think about the quarterbacks and maybe how this all happened? 01:27:44 Speaker 2: This is this is really interesting because you know Cleveland's got the two picks. Now they picked up a second one in the front end. I am not sure that they used at on should or Sanders. 01:27:54 Speaker 1: Do you think they're just thinking twenty twenty six. 01:27:56 Speaker 2: Well, I mean, I'm thinking, you know, maybe they're not gonna use that type of comp stations. They try to get into the Kirk Cousins trade talks, but maybe they used that for some other positions. Yeah, I think so, you know, maybe maybe you know, wide receiver since they didn't go Travis Hunter. And then I think when it comes to shoot work, I do think that the Raiders are team that could come into play right there, ha him back up, Gino Pete loves competition. You know, you got to go back to the Matt Flynn Charlie Whitehurst and then they draft Russell Wilson a third round that type of thing. We'll see how far shoot her slips. And also Jalen Milroll, I think when you talk about Cleveland getting a young quarterback. His old OC at Alabama, Tom Reese is now the OC in Cleveland. That's that's something I would watch. I still don't know if it would be in the front end. 01:28:41 Speaker 3: But if they move back, I think that's that's a young developmental guy to right. 01:28:46 Speaker 1: I tend to agree with you. I think the Browns are more likely to take another quarterback later, which which sounds crazy that you would risk losing the guy you really wanted, But I think they're going to look at these as premium picks. By the way, friend of the Showy Caldwell, who does a podcast with our friend Nick Shook, points out the Settlers of Katan guy as a fun moment of the night. That was Lena Jackson right. I believe. 01:29:12 Speaker 2: Using my offensive lineman and the Settlers of Catan board was was set up. It was prominently featured in the shot, which made us think, like, is this an nil thing or not? 01:29:23 Speaker 5: Not? 01:29:23 Speaker 1: Even like is he just he just loves Catan. I gotta say, people that love Catan they talk about Katan a lot. I'm not a big Settlers of Catan guys, but I'm not against it. I was kind of a risk guy. Uh in middle school. I liked me a little bit of a risk Uh. Let's bring up that best Available board again, because it is one of those classes where it seems like the second round is awesome. Will Green from Marshall some off field stuff, but a lot of people thought he was like edged two or three in this class. Donovan Ezeraku, who I really like as a talented passers, are from BC still out there, Will Johnson from Michigan. A lot of people CB one not taking medical concerns. Nick em and Worry. 01:30:06 Speaker 3: I love him. 01:30:07 Speaker 1: I mean that the combine freaks still out there. This is a great top of the second round. 01:30:11 Speaker 4: And the thing about nick Amon Worry and I know a lot of people just found out about him at the Combine. He comes into Columbia South Carolina as a freshman, starts every single game, leads the team in tackles their their best player on a very talented defense where I think nick Amy Moory had the production. The Combine just kind of confirmed it and I felt like he was going to go tonight to. 01:30:35 Speaker 3: Be I loved him. 01:30:36 Speaker 2: He was one of my favorite players, and I thought if the Rams hadn't traded out, that's who they're going to get. But you know, when you when you look at what this guy can bring, I just think he's one of the first guys off the board. I think he's got pushed back because he's a safety. A lot of people were like, that's the position we can get in the second round. 01:30:55 Speaker 1: Yeah, I think you know the Texans are picking second, They're probably not gonna go to second. It's really interesting that the Browns have two of the top four picks their team analytic. I think they're gonna use that first pick to maybe pick up even more. They're gonna look at this as an opportunity where they take one guy here and they move down and they just keep picking up picks. 01:31:16 Speaker 3: Eventually, you gotta you have to select play well. 01:31:17 Speaker 1: They will select them in this class. I think it'll just be like moving down in the second round and feeling like that's where the value. And to be fair, there are we just went through some of them. There are a lot of good players, like all those running backs at run Trevion Henderson did not get taken, quinch On Juggins didn't get taken. A lot of good wide receivers, uh, my guy, Kyle Williams didn't go off the board. That the tight ends, Mason Taylor, Elijah Royo. There are certainly a lot of good defensive tackles that are available. Like, it's gonna be uh. 01:31:46 Speaker 2: The second round is gonna be great, and of course you do is gonna be the conversation because wow, I mean you look at you look at the board now and you're just like, how early. 01:31:55 Speaker 3: In the second round is he gonna go. Could he? 01:31:58 Speaker 2: Could he be like Malik Willis slide into the third I mean, I don't think we can sit here and say I. 01:32:03 Speaker 1: Don't think you can rule that out. I also don't think you can rule out him going behind Shuck and maybe Howard and maybe. 01:32:11 Speaker 3: I mean, I just say, is wow, quantifiably yeah? 01:32:15 Speaker 1: That like I agree with you on Shuck because I'm not in on him. I think Milroe could a team fall in love with just his upside and prefer him to Sanders because different flavors'. That's just totally that crazy to me, especially if Shouldar falls past the first half of the second round. I tend to think, and I don't know who it's going to be, but I tend to think he's not going to have to wait that long on Friday Night. I think the Raiders at thirty seven are really interesting Shoulder Sanders, Yeah, And I wouldn't love it as my you know, loving Gino, and I think they want to win right away, and so that would be one reason why they wouldn't take Shudure. But they might look at the future and think about. 01:32:57 Speaker 3: It is where he is on their board. 01:32:59 Speaker 1: I love it. I love a first round which a lot of great outcomes. Travis Hunter trade gave us a little pop, and then like a lot of guys in systems where I think can maximize who they are. I think Colston Lovelin and Tyler Warren like ended up with the right teams for them. Egbuka, you know got to be learning from the greats in Tampa. I think he ended up in a really great team for him. Hampton being with Justin Herbert, a lot of the offensive players to meet Jenty with the rated I think, yeah, I don't know if you guys have favorite picks or we just get out of here. 01:33:31 Speaker 3: No, I'm ready. 01:33:32 Speaker 4: I'm ready to defend the Falcons decision making. I don't value I liked the teams that went ahead and moved. I don't value future picks in the same way. Maybe maybe that's silly. 01:33:44 Speaker 1: Those are people to future. 01:33:46 Speaker 3: They're people, they're hypothetical people. We don't know that they have two people today. 01:33:50 Speaker 1: Well, as Kyle Shanahan said, I don't even know if I'm gonna you know, we're if we're all going to be here alive on Sunday when he was talking about a future game, the way things are going like who knows if we're all going to be here in twenty twenty six, So get your picks in now. 01:34:04 Speaker 2: When Kyle said that, he just didn't want to answer a question. Though, Yeah, I don't know. 01:34:07 Speaker 1: I think that way. I do think that way. You get older and you're just like, you can't guarantee any. 01:34:13 Speaker 3: Hey, make the most that could take it with you. 01:34:16 Speaker 1: We're getting existential. Yeah, we're we'll get at the back. And these young kids who are producing this, they're like, what are you talking about. You'll get there. 01:34:24 Speaker 3: Yeah a few years. 01:34:25 Speaker 4: Somebody's asked how things are going to be, like, well, I woke up this morning. 01:34:29 Speaker 1: It helps me enjoy the draft even more. I'm soaking up this whole thing because you just never know when you're going to have another one. So let's enjoy this draft. 01:34:37 Speaker 3: Or if your left tackle is going to be pushed into guard. 01:34:41 Speaker 1: Enjoy this one with you. This is the first time we've all done this together. It was an absolute treat. We will be back. Like I said on Friday, thank you, Steve, thank you, Patrick. 01:34:50 Speaker 3: Appreciate it. 01:34:51 Speaker 1: Pully. We get you back next week. Patrick's already locked in. We'll talk after the show. Let's hit it Friday, we are recapping Round two, Nick Schuok and Eye. We will see you then when the Jaguars are taking a once in a generation prospect and changing the franchise forever. Football is back. See you frighten
