I know you got knocked around with a couple of home runs, but four runs. You should be able to score four runs on Sugano. With all due respect, the guy gives up a lot of hits, a lot of runs. He's pitched pretty well in the first two times out, But Tomo Sugano is a guy that you got to lunch up on a little bit.

Great pitching performances otherwise, other than you know, Taiwan Walker and get knocked around a little bit. Really enjoyed watching the guys pitch the way they did in a tough place to pitch and course field.

Speaker 5: I agree with you. The offense was very flat on Sunday. I hear what you're saying. I mean, you got to sweep. You got a guy on the mound last year pitched in Baltimore, led the world in home runs aloud, or at least the American League. He's the guy you gotta go after, and it just didn't happen. I mean, the previous two days early runs, Trey Turner was a great table setter and a run producer. But you know, the offense wasn't there. There was some tough at bats in there, sith bats that didn't look good. Turning point in the game I thought was the fifth inning. Schwarver hits one four hundred and four hundred and twenty one feet and it stays in the yard. That would have been a three run home run that would have given them the lead under other conditions, but it didn't happen. I still walk out of there with a feeling of, you know, early in the season they had a tough start. I think they've righted it a little bit, very very very encouraging what I saw out of Nola and Lozardo, both coming back from difficult starts to you know, in their first starts of the season. Taiwan Walker Game three gave up three bombs on pitches that were.

So but I always try to look at the big picture a little bit, and I thought it was good they picked up two out of three. It would have been nice to get three, especially against a team that won forty three games last year forty three. Wow, but it didn't happen.

Speaker 2: Well, you know, three games, that's that's while. You know, Jimmy, you mentioned Trey Turner and Friday, and you know, winning two out of three, that's what you gotta do. Whether he scored ten runs Friday and you know, three runs of the rest of the series, whatever, as long as you win the series. But I did like Trey Turner's comments post game on Friday. I mean, he is he puts it in such great perspective, and I think we've been kind of saying the same thing to a lot of people freaking out after those first four games. Uh, the players and everybody in the organization is aware of it, you know, the kind of the sky was falling. And the quote was, I feel like everyone's making everything such a big deal nowadays. Such a great quote because it is so right about so many things. With everything nowadays, everything is just got to be a big deal. You lose three out of four to start this season. They stink they're not gonna do this. This guy's washed this and that, and you gotta let it. You gotta let it play out there five five and four going, Yeah, they're they're five five and four going in going into San Francisco. But I did love that quote because I feel that I feel the same way as Trey Turner some days.

Speaker 5: Yeah, it's the I I think it's the nflcation of Major League Baseball. You know, it's like every game is treated with the magnitude of an NFL game. It's like one hundred and sixty two to one game seasons and it just doesn't work that way in this game. But you all right, Todd, he leads the league in perspective. He said the world was about to end, accepting here excepting in our club halls.

Jesus is Ardo six and two Thirti's on Saturday five hits, one run, no walks, eleven strikeouts. Some really good pitching. Tim Masa is pitching well out of the bullpen. I mean the guy, you know, he was a non roster guy coming in the camp. He's been pitching well.

Speaker 6: So Kyle Backus even bounced back and pitched really well in the two times that he got a chance to pitch in Uh in Colorado, did a nice job himself. Keller threw well, Juan Duran, everybody on that staff really actually threw the ball pretty well. Uh. Pretty impressed by the way these guys handled playing in Corsefield.

Speaker 5: The most encouraged thing I saw all weekend. And I'm not saying he was the best player all weekend or but was Aaron Nola, because you know, I still think he kind of is a question mark and it was so good to see him come out. And like you said, it's not the twenty seven Yankees, not a great offense. But the way he pitched on Friday, he located all the pitches he had to locate his four seemer, his breaking ball was down, his change up was down. It was so impressive. The first two innings. He had three strikeouts in the first two innings on four steamers on the paint right there. And then in the third inning he strikes out the side with three curve balls down in the zone. Had good bite, there was sharp. It was just the way that with the location of the movement, it was just the way he needs to pitch. If he's going to bounce, I can have a good year and this team needs him to do that. He is such a crucial piece.

I'm going to take the easy way out it's the best Phillies player performance. Whatever we want from the past week, I'm going with Andrew Painter's major league debut last last Tuesday. It's a long time ago. Five and a third innings, eight strikeouts, absolutely dazzling performance. And he is making his second start on Monday night against the Giants in San Francisco, and I think everybody's really looking forward to that. It was a lot of fun to be at the ballpark that night. Everybody that's at the that was at the ballpark that night is going to be telling people down the road. I was there for Andrew Painter's major league debut and it lived. It lived up to the hype.

As it unfolds, we're a'll say we were there the first night. Although you know, I could go three or four different directions here, but I'm gonna go a little bit outside the box and say, Trey Turner. You know, I know the offense wasn't there on Sunday, but not Aaronola, Aaron Ole. I've already given my my my hat tip too. I thought it was the most important thing I saw this weekend, and I would I would. I think you'd be hard pressed to argue with that. They need this guy going forward, and that was very encouraging. Anyway, I'm gonna go Trey Turner coming into today, he was hitting like four hundred over five games, and he's being a table setter and a run producer. They score big on Friday. He's on base the whole game and leads it, off sets the tone of the first inning two days in a row, gets on base both days, scores to runs in those games, and they win a series in Colorado. I just think he's a very good baseball player.

I'm gonna have a hat tip to his dude, Lozardo, who dominated in a very tough place when he can bounce back, also, like Nola bounced back, and like Jim had talked about before off air. I mean, you sort of expect that more from him than you do from Nola at this stage of his career. So it's still big that he bounced back and pitched the way he did because he really dominated with his breaking ball mixed in a lot of change ups, some good ones, got some punch outs on it, but that sweeper is devastating.

I know, he's never going to live up to the one one, you know, which which he was in twenty sixteen for the Phillies. There were circumstances why he was the one one. But the fact of the matter is he beat the Phillies. Today, hit a couple and Pitchers were right here.

Speaker 2: Zach Wheeler's rehab start on Friday. Made his second rehab start on Friday, UH three innings, gave up five five runs off four hits, two walks. The Velo has not been there yet, guys. So the Vello that's fastball velocity. Wheelers fastballs average twenty nine point nine miles an hour in his first two rehabs starts. It's touched ninety four point three once, the only time he's thrown over ninety four in these first two rehab starts. Now an average in his first two springs start.

But it was interesting that in Zach Wheeler's first two spring starts, because everybody's saying that this is basically his spring training, right, this is his spring training. These are his first two spring training starts ninety two point nine. His first two spring starts last year is fastball velocity was ninety five point six. So would you guys make anything out of that? I mean, you have is your radar up on Zach's velo?
