This is the Giant bomb cast where you go for video games. I don't know. That's you go for waygos. Yes, yes, you go for Huego video. Auegosuegos they video, yep. I don't Yeah, I'm not sure what any of that means. That means, Hey, everybody, welcome to the bomb Cast O Tuesday, and you're here for the number one, number twenty fourth. That means Matt Roy's joining us today and Brad's on vacation. Weird. I didn't know you were that fluent. Yeah, yeah, I have it. I took four years of Spanish in high school. I took five, but I cannot remember any of it. Well, I got to Spanish two over those four years, so they wouldn't let me into I didn't fail any of the classes, but they were like, look, man, yeah, just stay in parts of the country that's speak English. Yeah, you'll be okay. Well, those are tough because you go, you take the summer off and then you don't speak Spanish in the summer that don't seek Spanish outside of that class. And He's like, I had a little help in that. I worked in a restaurant that had a pretty predominantly Hispanic kitchen staff. As you know, restaurants in certain parts of the country I want to do, so I had parts of the country, Matt, I don't know. I was trying to keep going. I was trying to realize, hold on, you're only three feet under, keep digging it, thank you. Uh So then I would talk to those guys all the time in Spanish as best I could. But then you know, summer came and yeah, I you know, like growing up around auto repair and there was a fair amount of Spanish being spoken around there. Like I kind of learned how to swear real good and it's very loose tire Spanish. Uh. Now they start kids a like kindergarten, it's maxim dony I hope. So what I call immersion, sure, early early immersions trying to make kids French and Spanish, and in kindergarten immersion immersiim in English first man. Yeah, A lot of it's Chinese and outcome because people are playing it for the future, like years played Runner by kid better speaking Chinese. Yeah, any accent he can pick up early on, I'm down with. Doesn't even need to learn the language, just to learn how to make those sounds with your mouth. Yeah. Yeah, I took. I took three years of middle school Spanish. Uh. And then I got to to high school and they gave me a proficiency test and I tested into Spanish. One. Congratulations to take basic ass Spanish? What kind of what kind of middle school will last for three years? Though? Mine was two? I assuming did you go to a seven eight nine? I think middle school? Maybe it was just six? Yeah, so six was elementary school still for me? Yeah, and then junior high was seven and eight yeah, and then the rest was high school. Yeah. We got intended. We also learned. We learned bad words in class. We had a we had a book, a textbook called Streetwise Spanish. Oh wow. And there's one kid in my class and he kept losing his book. He'd come to class like, sorry, I don't have that book, and it happened like three times. Get a new book. Yeah, he'd have to buy a new book. Uh. And we couldn't figure out or he couldn't figure out why he kept losing it, and then he realized one day that his housekeeper, who speaks Spanish, had been throwing the book away because it had so many bad words, really trying to protect him, like, you shouldn't be reading this book. I'm throwing it away. Well, thanks, Yeah, I had to buy two more copies of that. Cleaning the house a little too well, keep it clean. In my morals, it's always wouldn't been one of my paranoid thoughts about having a house cleaning, because I've had people recommend it to me before. But I don't know. I'm not saying that things will disappear, but I a one. My place is so awful to live in. I want to subject five hours this weekend cleaning my apartment. Lord, Yeah, that's not so bad if five hours out of my weekend. Yeah, And I was like sweating the whole time. Well, if you'd spend it just a half an hour every day, I don't know, that's yeah. I don't know how clean was your apartment. It's pretty clean there, but I might be willing to toss down some money for somebody. I wouldn't have to do that it too, You could just not do it. Huh. Then no money, no effort, and then you just sell the apartment when you're done. Yeah, yeah, instead of five hours you say, nope, this is a wasteland like the Aliens and independent states, use up all the resources laying down on cell of fames, and eventually it's really cool because you could have like a cardboard jungle and it's like, oh, you could build forts, and if you ever need a box to ship anything back, it's right there. Yeah. I'll never need to have like a notepad to take notes or anything. Yeah, I could just write things on my table because it's so dusty. Exactly. They had a couple of brothers in New York who did that. You remember those guys back in the twenties who just never threw anything out and had eventually one of them, one of them, I think, went blind, and the other one had to feed him by crawling under stacks of huge newspapers, and eventually that one of the newspapers crushed the guy. I fell on him and crushed him with death. And then his brother starved over the course like a week because he couldn't move. Are you I'm not shining you almost like Stephen Kingbookers. No, this is a real, real brothers, the Collier brothers. I want to say, so we're gone, substitute Brad Shoemaker, who would tell me about a spider that would crawl up my nose and make a mess the papers that are tall on you dying through a mess? Yeah, great call of your brothers with a CEO. Y erz. Yeah they had a hoarding is dangerous. Yeah. The lesson there is, you know on top of that, like all the just mold and yeah, crud can grow around wet newspaper once you start peeing on it, I mean, well that that'll disinfect it. Right at first, at first like it's you'd think, yeah, but eventually, like you know, you're like, I need to wipe my eyes out. Oh god, what am I doing because there's newspaper in them? Yeah, I've got pink eye. I've thought about getting to come clean the house. But I don't know if I'm I don't know, I don't know if i'm that person. I don't know if I could look my dad in the eye, I say the house, you profess you should you know you're you look your day and say I made it. He already thinks I'm a big hippie. He goes between yuppie and hippie depending on what conversation we're happening. Sure, Hey, I'm in San Francisco. You got damn hippie. Hey, I have to go to this meeting at work. You got damn yuppie. I gotta go to the meeting in San Francisco. Let's create hippy yuppie liberal. Those concepts are not really, they're kind of mutually exclusive. Really, I know, you know, a lot of one turned into a lot of the other. I guess, yeah, so Scelto, Yeah, exactly, Sacelto is full of hippie lovel motherfuckers in meetings probably, yeah, yeah, exactly, living on their house boat, coming in, coming in from the house boat. I just gotta using their like satellite phone. Every time I drive by Saceleto. Well, first of I think at the office because it's right there. And then I see I look out. You can look at under the water by all the house boats. There's a yellow float plane right out. They are attached to one of the docks. Yeah, and I just that's my goal. You have that to steal that plane, get that plane taking off. I have seen that plane landing really yeah, yeah, they smuggled drugs. Hey, I don't know what yeah, yeah, right, yeah, it's Crystal's teeth, not crystal meths. Just like, hold these near your body and feel the shopras a line. I can then go to my wife's dress shop that one person walks into a week and yeah, well right, yeah, exactly, flipping bricks up out of that. Yes, that's exactly what sauceleto. That's what was going on in sauceleto a lot of high stakes drug sales. Right, yeah, that's why we had to close that office. Yeah, exactly. I know we had that problem, done it. It's not a problem. We love our users. Yeah, feature, But did that happen to Sacelito a lot? Uh? Yeah, yeah, people are just swinging by and say hey, I'm a big fan of sight knocking on the door yeah yeah sometimes yeah, sometimes people would be in the neighborhood. Yeah, and we didn't really lock that door in Scelito, like the front street office was you know, keypads and and yeah, eventually yeah, eventually they're the dudes with those twinkies just got in. Yeah, still was alarm knock on the door. And also you know we had it was usually the interns who would be responsible for, you know, handling the door at some point. Yeah, so like you know, all of a sudden, you know, somebody would come down and be like, oh, this guy said he was looking for a Dwayne. I figured you guys dealing with guys from Jesus. Do you guys know them? No, we don't. But Hi, sure, I've got two hours. Uh so yeah, but yeah, calling ahead if you're gonna want to visit or emailing ahead is appreciated. We're busy people because theoretically, I don't know, I put all these red blocks on the calendar. No, I do get those sometimes to support at Giant Bomb, I usually asked them not to. If they're they're premium member, I will say I will get drinks of you, because I like drinking. I like premium members. But for the most part, I I'm assuming it's it's CBS is not really happy to have, you know, just people water and now we have a front desk and all sorts of and cubicles like it's not it's not in the interestaying office in the world had a part where you're like, let me show you the rest of the office. This is like the front street too. Yeah yeah, yeah right, so yeah, so at least there was trus of the office that you'd come by and see it. I feel like there was something to do with somebody. Yeah. Here, it's just like it's all the same. I think this person's in accounting. I don't know. Here's a server room. It's big and orange, yeah, we're not allowed in there. Yeah, yeah, I like looking at it though. Here's this kind of sad arcade machine. I don't know who it is. Yeah, we don't play it. I should steal that Blitz machine. You have a Blitz machine? Yeah, but what if I had a backup. That one is newer. It's a Blitz two thousand showtime combo unit which I have a board for actually screen. The screen is yeah, the monitor is done on it, but everything else is pretty cherry. There's an MK machine with a bad monitor too, right, yep, But that one I think is a rental, So I don't know why it's even still here. The MK machine in the in the like little secondary. I know it's blurry like the monitors, right. I know a couple of the same the other designer that we have, not not the one who sits with Alexis, but I know a couple of people played every day. So yeah, it's there if you want it. Some people play that tech in machine and stuff. They come from another floor. Yeah, and it kind of bugs me because sometimes that come down and they'll they'll it's such a Yeah, I see a lot of people come into this floor to use our bathroom. And I wonder if it's because we're the third floor of a six floor building where we're just kind of the middle. It's gonna have we have the private lockable one on our floor that those are only in the odd number floor, the even number flours, I have showers, which I so I go to the fourth floor to take a shower in the mount bike in I notice a lot of people come from another floors to get our bagels. Yeah, yeah, is definitely something Friday Friday bagel stuff. That's why I just put all the bagels in the shower on the fourth floor. That's smart, that's smart. And say, I don't know where the bagels. I think the people from four took them. You should probably look in their bathroom. I kept. I used to you know, years and years ago. I told them that they should get donuts instead of bagels because I don't like bagels and it's oppressive to me that they get bagels all the time. Should file an HR complane? I probably should. Yeah, I think they're making fun of you. Yeah, and you know it's it's it's unwelcome behavior, is what I'm getting at here. I never asked for bagels. I never asked for bagels. A reasonable person would not ask for bagels. Do you like bagels? No? Jeez? And they keep getting them, They keep getting them. It's I have clear twenty feet from your desk, I know, probably smelling from there too, probably. Yeah. Yeah, it's basically a hate crime. Have you gone to anybody? Do you want me to go talk to something? You know, I'll just I'm just afraid of retaliation. You know, if I went into I don't know that I can sit here and reenact the training. Video cool? Video games? What we're talking about? Video games? Okay, we're talking about video games and how to expense them or not to or video games. Speaking of which, Vinny, Yeah, tell me about the last seven days in video games or non video you know, Hey, what's going on? Hey? What's going on? Hi? What are you playing? I don't know how this goes? Hey? Hey, hey, so what apostrophe? C cha ben b e E N playing jobbing? Playing? Uh? Grand theft auto surprise, grant that auto surprise. It is like the clown one. It's if you put the disc in huh uh and if you hack into the file the fries there no hot sandwich, that's hot Sammy yeah, not sam uh. And I like that game. Barbecue Beef, that's what's in there. Yeah, Trevor's Barbecue Beef. It's really steamy. Yeah, it's gonna change the industry forever. I'm very excited about that. I like that game. It's getting places, takes a while driving around, and so there are some missions when I'm at one end of the map and there's a mission at the other end of the map, I switched to another character and say, there's this guy, because maybe by the time I come back to this other guy, he'll be somewhere closer to this mission. Yeah, that's how I played it too. Like you can call a cab. I tried that, and I didn't much care for that experience either. They charged, well, they charge you more to skip the cab ride fast track. You can watch the cab ride or just skip to your destination, and they charge more for them more. Do they not have the cabs that roll me around anymore? Yeah, it's you have to get in them, or you can call a cab using your cell phone. But yeah, but I just didn't It didn't solve the problem in a fast enough fashion. Yeah, took it took a lot and you know this, this might be where I'm at with those kinds of games, Like I want to get going, Like I enjoy the beautiful city. It's it looks gorgeous, but at some point it's like, I just want some missions. Let's go. I don't need to drive there. And I'm also not a great driver, and at the time you start the mission, it says, all right, drive, drive somewhere miles. Yeah. So but aside from that, I'm really enjoying it. And you know, I think we've said enough about Grand Theft Auto in terms of what it is, but that multiplayer comes out in like two weeks a week. I guess it's supposed to be the first, right it's really been. I think it's still what they what they said, So I'm curious to see how that'll That's probably the most exciting thing for me at this point in terms of that game, because I kind of, you know, I see where's that this is going a bit. You know, it's gonna be a lot more drama. Oh yeah, yeah, I mean the story. Yeah, I really enjoyed the story over the course of it, Like it goes some interesting places and yeah, but that online stuff seems crazy now anybody asked about like the financial stuff, because I know Microsoft and Sony don't usually let people give away like free DLC. I've heard for some of that stuff you can't give away for free. This maybe isn't considered DLC just part of the game. It's getting patched in. I guess right, it's probably gonna you have to imagine this install is going to be a few gigs minimum, well the Microsoft limit for downloads two gigs. So it could be that a lot of that stuff is already I mean whatever, the assets for the city are on the disc, so you know that stuff's taken care of. So I'm not really sure, you know, if there's more dialogue and more character stuff for cut scenes that they'll have to either download or whether that's already installed. I guess I'm just curious what, Like, you know, the whole made a billion dollars in three days. If they're gonna be spending a substantial amount of money on bandwidth Sony and Xbox, and you charge you for a bandwidth on stuff, I think when you put if you're putting out stuff for free and like in a demo form, I want to say that they sometimes do. I don't remember. They've gone back and forth on some of that stuff, and maybe it was contractual. They just said, hey, we're gonna do this, and if you want this on your system, better better to do it. Get out of the way. Uh yeah, if anyone could get waved on a lot of different ship it will be the rock star for this game. I've downloaded like free mat packs and stuff. Yeah, yeah, I've definitely had it happened before. But I think there's something the size would be. I mean, you're looking at what ten million downloads minimum times say two gigs. It's a lot of bandwidth that's like five gigs exactly. Yeah. Wow. Do you think you're gonna spend a lot of time on GRTL online though? No, No, you just want to do it. I want to see what it's I want to see what it is you're doing it. Yeah, Like I have no idea. I've seen that trailer. Yeah, and it looks like people running around blowing stuff up, right, huh, So let's see what you do? Yeah, yeah, yeah, I want to. You can look at the achievements, like all the there like half the achievements in that game on three sixty are GTA Online specific they described it. Do they have descriptions like make make x money here, we'll be like getting an insured car. That does not sound fun. Well, I imagine that that means that you stay, you can steal whatever car you want, but if you want to have the same car every time, you probably need to. It's probably a fee you have to pay. So yeah, so I'm kind of curious to see too, if they turn it into some kind of revenue generator, yeah, what they'll charge for. And like the rock Star Online stuff has always felt to me, I've never really enjoyed it that much, so any any of their like Red Dead stuff or the other GTA stuff which was kind of just like coopy yeah, or you know, no, I mean they did death Match, they did, you know, like it was competitive multiplayer in this never really enjoyed it. And I think that the way the shooting works in both of those games and the way it works in this one as well, I think it's it just doesn't really lend itself super well. You know, It's like lock on aiming would be too precise, and free aim in those games is not great. So so I'm very curious to see what that product is when it when it comes out. Yeah. I looked at Star Citizen and I was so close to uh putting twenty thousand dollars down. Yeah, like holy crap, like why what what? So what? So they put out this update for they have modules they're releasing up until launch, and one of them is the Hanger module, and they put an update to the Hanger module. We can walk around the hangar getting your ship, uh kind of tore it, sit down in it, and like do all this stuff. And I was looking at it and it looked beautiful, look fantastic. I really like the ship designs. And I was like, all right, well, you know, I'm probably gonna play this when it comes out. At some point, let's let me dig deeper and find out what this game is. And I couldn't really do that, but I did find where you can start paying money for stuff. Yeah, and holy count a lot of money, A lot of money for like two hundred and fifty bucks for a ship what wha? Yeah, Well if you don't do that, then what do you You just don't play it. So you can get in at like thirty five bucks, okay, like forty bucks you get a different ship. Uh, you get you know, you get you get us ship, but yeah, with the caps on it. I think the differences that you start off with pretty small ships and if you pay more, you circutting capital ships and bigger stuff that multiple people can be in. Yes, I've heard the two hundred dollars ship was was pretty cool looking, and then there's other ships and you know you can you can. I think there's a tier someone's almost like Kickstarter on a page and there's like a tier that's like, you know, you can put in like ten grand if you want, Yes, people have, there's one dude, there's a forum poster or some people say how bad has it gotten for you? Guys? I put put in eleven grand and someone else came up like twenty twenty one thousand dollars or something like. I just don't under I mean, it's yeah, I feel like it's been one of the things like kind of looking in on that project a couple of times, and each time I've tried to look in it and go like what is this? So that's what I don't know yet, Like I'm not one hundred percent sure. I did spend a bunch of time on the website and I could have just missed it and may I'm just not following the right places. But I'm not sure what their model for that game is going to be. Is it going to be like, hey, I pay my thirty five bucks or sixty dollars or whatever it is to get a ship, get into that game, and then I know there's a There are two different things their Start Citizen, which is their big multiplayer thing, and then there's another portion, which is a single player game. And it almost seems like they're telling me there're two separate things, but it's all into one package, right, so you can participate in the single player thing and then go online. But I don't know if they're going to charge monthly for the multiplayer thing. I don't know how they're going to monetize that. If it's going to be more like Eve where you're just like buying ships and like paying a monthly fee for the service. I have no idea. I do know that when you start buying better tiers of packages, they're like, hey, you've got insurance for six months, And I don't know if that means that, like that's code for you're good for six months of game time. That's code for like, hey, if your ship blows up, won't lose it. So I don't know if that means like, hey, you can't play without insurance or you can, but you might lose your two hundred dollars ship if it gets blown up. So it wasn't clear enough for me to pull the trigger quite yet. On you. I was just gonna go in for like the thirty five dollars or whatever it's the thirty five dollars package because the Alpha is supposed to start, like the dog fighting stuff like soon like October November, and then that game looks gorgeous and I love everything I see about it. But I'm just I'm just confused. I think it looks really nice too. But again, is it was? I think it just like, so is it? Am I running wing commander style missions? Like? Am I going on patrol? So that's the other thing too, It's like I don't want to necessarily it seems like all of that's in there. Yeah, again, according to what I was able to look up, and I didn't didn't dig deep enough into the community. I'm sure people can answer this right away, but I didn't dig that far. But like one of the ships is like all right, hey, put in one hundred and thirty bucks or one hundred and twenty or something like that and get this ship called the Freelancer or whatever. And I was like, oh, that's cute, that's kind of cool, and I was like, hey, maybe we'll do that. This is when I was still in there, like I'm getting in here, and I looked it up and I was like, yeah, this ship is good for you know, hauling cargo and doing all this stuff. And I was like, I don't wait, I don't know if I want to do that in this game. So I don't know if I want to put it in a dating twenty five bucks get a ship that's like, well, you've got the cargo space trucker, right, and like, I'm not really one percent sure. And because the other ones were like, hey, thirty five dollars, get you this ship that's like all around good for everything ship, Like, well, that sounds like probably what I want, not the slow but maybe the cargo ship can do it. I don't know. I don't know yet. Yeah. That's the thing about Kicksharter games, like I've never given money to any of them because I have no idea even if it's a good pedigree for the designers and stuff. I just I'd rather I'd rather not pay thirty five bucks to something that winds up being terrible. I'd rather wait until it comes out and pay forty or fifty for something that a lot of my friends are saying it's really cool. Well, some stuff, some stuff is pretty clear, right, like you know that's gonna be bad. Sure, but I see a lot of stuff that might be good, and then you know, never comes out like that clang thing. I'm sure you guys talked about. I don't know if you did or not, but that was another one that Hey, money's gone. You saw Patrick's article about it. It's that Stiel Stevens the thing. Oh right, man, hey it's gone. You're not getting your refunds because it was for a prototype and not a real game, and nobody wants to buy the prototype and turn into a game. So you well, I hadn't kept up with it. Yeah, I remember claiming like it looked kind of it could be kind of cool. So they just funded a prototype. Yeah, and it works super clear about it being a prototype. Did they ever put that out for the Yeah, there's like a demo of it, But then everybody thought it was gonna be like, hey, it's gonna be real game. Cool. It looks really good. It was funded really quick, and then turns out it was only a prototype that they're gonna take two legitimate public like like just another regular publishers or Angel not an Angel investors, but what vcs benric capitalists and they're like and then and the update when they said everything's getting like put on, Hey, it's not canceling it. They're just like, hey, if we maybe it'll turn into something in the future. The update, it was like, well, it takes a lot of time and effort to go to a VCS and we really don't have the time to do it. I was like, wow, okay, kind of what you started, but there is proof that a prototype was made. Yeah, they released a demo to too. I'm paraphrasing a little bit this year, but this is my It's not my problem with Kickstarter. I think there's a lot of cool stuff on that I just have no inclination. I've only put out one thing to an album that had like a six thousand dollars donation limit and reaching it. Fine. Yeah, I mean like the Kickstarter for me is definitely like it's like the stock marker, right, Like, you're you're putting money in based on as much information as you can gather, but there's no guarantee you're ever going to get a return on any of this stuff, or that it could even you have to be ready to put that money and have a walk away or Yeah. But the start Citizen is odd to me because it did its Kickstarter and now it's just basically extended the Kickstarter to its own site, right. Yeah, I think they started on their own site and then would Kickstarter a little bit later because the starter does take you know what, did take a cut? Yeah, they do take a cut, So I think they just had a lot of paypals stuff. But now they're over there in the twenty millions, I think. Yeah, that's definitely one of the biggest fun and things ever. And boy boy, the numbers they have on they're crazy. And I can see why because they have a store where you can buy all these ships open now, so you can buy your pledge in right, and then you can buy additional chips on top of that. So I could buy thousands of dollars worth of ships right now and the game might not ever come out. I'm not saying it's not going to but there's always that until it's actually out as a retail disc that I can or a digital download or something. It's it's so scary to me to spend twenty grand on something. So yeah, I looked hundred bucks. I looked at that for a while and then uh, yeah, I'm in the same boat. I think that looks super fascinating and I'd love to get some track. I R it looks beautiful and it's oculous rip supporting there too. Yeah, but like I almost rather wait until it's fully released, and you know, not even not even for some of the reasons that we're expressed here, like am I not come out or I don't know, you know, if it's going to be good or not. It's more for like, if I'm gonna put money in, I need direction to know where to put that money, right like that, like I was saying with the ships right right, like I just need to know this is what you're gonna be doing. Hey, maybe there's a way for me to try some of this, or when people start playing it, be like, hey, you're gonna want to start like this and do this kind of thing, because yeah, if I bought pay one hundred bucks. Get a ship that I'm not really sure what it does or how many how many hard points I need on a ship? Right, Like, then the better I would assume that, right, I want a billion hard points and you want to be the fastest ship in the game. You got it. It's a not a thing where you get all the lower tier stuff when you I didn't see that, not for the ships at least. Okay, but there's one ship, the two hundred and twenty dollars one or whatever comes with a fighter in its bay. So you get this big ship and it's got its own little fighter and ships in one. It's two from one. Heck, could you pass that up? You're losing money, right, You got a table in it on this two turrets you can climb in. Yeah, Like I almost put you know, and I might still at some point just put in Like whatever the minimum is for star Bound, it's like the it looks a lot like Terraria, but it is in space. It's the same same artists artist, not the same pixel idea or what's the same if regetit or something like that is the REDGETDXC some registry keys and then play Starva. Yeah, they can't look really cool. Yeah, yeah it does. And and they're they're doing a similar thing, Like it's not through Kickstarter. They're just like there are multiple tiers. If you want to have a statue in your name, or you know, an extra awesome thing for our message boards, you can pay more than all that sort of stuff. But I don't know. The only things on Kickstarter that I feel like I've put money into that I've felt like okay about have been those Pinball Arcade tables, because it's just I can put in the minimum for like, Okay, this is a this is a table I would buy at this price if you released it, and you need the money upfront, Like it's very clear business. They're like, we are getting licensed tables. We need to pay the people that hold the licenses. We need the money upfront. We have already negotiated with them. This is the cost of the license to put terminator two out for Pinball Arcade, and if we hit this number, we will pay them this fee for the license. It's like, very clear where the money goes. It's very clear what you know. They've they've got the track record that they can produce these tables effectively and it's a you know, relatively low risk and you know it's like stuff like Twilight Zone and Terminator two and that sort of stuff that it's like, okay, yeah, it's I that's stuff that I would want in this product that I already am using yourself exactly where some of this other stuff. Yeah, it's it's a little all over the place and seeing like all the different it's this stuff where now it's like, okay, we're doing one phase of Kickstarter, then we're going to take money from our own site for this stuff, and then maybe we'll go into Steam early Access. And you know, it's when they start piling up the different ways to get money before you've shipped what you consider to be your final product. That's where it's it's it's like hard to keep track of, you know, like what is this? This is an alpha I'm buying? Is it's a beata? Like what am I? What am I paying you for? Are the people that are paying in this phase getting something different than I I got even though I was in earlier You know what does get a little confusing what's really going on? It It led to stuff like that Planetary Annihilation game being like ninety nine bucks on Steam when it went up, Well, that was for early access exclusively. I think they wanted to have it open to people who weren't in the kickstarter, but it was the same price that which still I mean Steam probably took you know, thirty percent of that at least, so sure, Yeah, still, it just it leads to a lot of weird situations like that where they have to like, well, we have to charge way more money for this thing compared to other products on this store. Yeah, well I think they've I'm pretty sure it'll come down to fifty when it was actual at least. Yeah, but that's even crazier. Yeah, at some points, like hey, here, like I don't know the idea of like yeah, I guess I get it. But at the same time, like, there's something weird about paying for early accesent, paying more for earlier access to a game when it's not gonna be as good as when it comes here, you play a broken version, give us an additional thirty Yeah, exactly, I want to do. We see pre release software all the time, and some of it's fine, and and you know, if I guess if it's the sort of thing where you don't see pre release software all the time. There's a thrill, and it certainly worked for Minecraft in a lot of different ways. But at some point it's like, hey, give us, you know, kicked down extra thirty bucks for alpha access, Like all right, it crashed my computer over and over again, thank you for your extra thirty dollars. Yeah, well, you know, some of that, I can get behind some of that to generate if you need to still generate revenue and fishing game. It's still smaller guys and stuff, but you know, a lot of that stuff used to be kind of very closed off demos for bigger publishers. Remember when they used to be demos demos. Yeah, and like you've got the demo, you got the exclusive on this hot demo if they obviously weren't looking for funding. So you know, that's it's a different scene now. And also it's I feel like it has the range of I have no idea what it costs to make a game, never did, but now I really don't because I see numbers that are, you know, tens of millions, and I see you know, Kickstarter numbers that are hundreds of thousands, and all of these numbers are all all over the place, and everybody, you know, he's usually like, no, we're still behind, you know, We're just we're just breaking even I don't think I've ever seen anybody being like, we don't know what to do with the money. I'd put a bunch of it into Lamborghinis, but like, you know, everybody's always kind of And the Star Citizen stuff is weird because they still have stretch goals even on they call them stretch goals on their site, and like some of them are just I was just going down the list of like, you know, they still have like nine or eight million to go that they would like to get to, and some of the stretch goals I don't even know what they mean anymore because I'm not following that stuff constantly, so you know, it's just terms and stuff that I'm just like, it's not like add multiplayer anymore, you know. It's like, you know, Stargate to the Zanta Galaxy. That's kind of exactly what it is. And it's like for every one hundred thousand, we get star Gate to the Beta Galaxy start, you know, like that kind of stuff. Like going down the list, I'm like, I don't how would does that even a function in the game. I don't even know what that means. What am I contributing to anymore? I don't know, but that ship was classy. If the ship was classy. And then I watched like YouTube videos of people walking around their ships and that I was real close and they were like they were really excited, And I wonder how money, how behind your way is gonna it's gonna work in that game, because like I don't know, yeah that that stuff is expensive, but there hasn't I can't remember. I can't recall any game that's that's been like that in terms of that much money, or even just like direct money to product product like in game items. Yeah. Yeah, well, I mean, you know, you end up with all the free to play stuff with micro transactions, and you hear all sorts of stories about people are throwing tons of money, but yeah, exactly, that's like you are buying object, yeah, and object for a couple hundred bucks and you can definitely own multiple ships. So yeah, I think a little more information, but Starter Citizen is definitely something that I had forgotten about. And then kind of this caught a whiff of news coming out with this new hanger module got way into again but then kind of looked at it and was like whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. All right, I'm just gonna slowly turn the TV off, the computer off, I'm gonna go outside, and hopefully I'll forget about this because that could be super dangerous. And then I started adding up all this like, man, I like two hundred dollars for ship. Sure, maybe on its own it's a ridiculous spend, but I could probably suffer that blow and like convince my wife that I'm just an idiot and I'm made a mistake. But then it's like like this November, I'm gonna be dropping. I think I said this before, Like I'm still saving up to drop like a grand like on consoles like the PS four, the Xbox, and I'm like, oh, you know, the new iPhones are coming out, and like I'm due on a contract and that's like another two hundred bucks or something like that. So like I don't drop two hundred bucks on this ship. That would be pretty cool. Like at some point it's just gonna be like, man, like I spent two grand on video games in like gets written rice this month. Yeah, and like you know, I'm probably gonna want to buy games when those consoles come out. What do they about that? Yeah? Yeah, and like you know, I'll probably well, so I did just sign up for PlayStation plus. I said that was fifty bucks, which was weird because I signed up to move my Dark Soul save or do you Dark Soul save? Yeah, because it's the only way you can move that save and put it into the cloud. And I did that and want to go downloaded here and I was like, nack, kid, you got wait twenty four hours to download that. So I guess there's some security on that save in particular. Yeah, like I've never run into that specific issue with any other PlayStation saves. Kind I don't know if it's that one, because they do try to lock it down to prevent stuff. It's weird. I don't know. I can't even think of a reason for that. Single player gack. I don't know, Like why would you if you're playing Dark Souls, you don't want to. I don't want to get a saved from somebody else because I kind of it's the whole point of that game is playing through it all. Yeah, I don't know, it's weird, but anyway I would suddenly realize, like shit, this is all really expense of like two console launches. Uh this uh paying to play games instead of just paying sixty bucks to play a game, that kind of pay what you want, Like suddenly this hobby is like, it's not suddenly, it's I mean, you know, this is an extreme year because of the hardware launches for sure, and you know, expensive hardware. Yeah, this is not right. It is not cheap hardware. Uh were cheaper than it was last time around. Yeah, it's as expensive. It's as expensive. Yeah, there's five I'm just thinking that Sony was six hundred bucks last time out and now they're not. Yeah, remind me of what the differences between the full five hundred and six hundred were For the PS three, I totally forget it was hard drives, hard space and like more WiFi ports and stuff like that, or the card slot was that I thought they all had that than the first model. Yeah, I don't remember, I forget. Yeah, been a long time. I think it might have just been a hard drive size. But yeah, then they did a hardware revision that had a fewer USB ports and I think I did, did they Yeah, they eventually took out like the SD card slot and some of the stuff. I think anyway money, So I didn't buy that chip and I didn't buy anything, and I'll wait until next week and then try and fight that off. That's what happens when it rains, man any weekend around the area. You end up just like staying inside and just like that's so depressing. Maybe if I spend a bunch of money on myself on virtual garbage, feel happy. So then that's how I order pay per view wrestling. Yeah, virtual garbage is like, oh what am I gonna do for the next three virtual garbage. I'm only virtually happy when it virtually rains. Yeah, yeah, I uh I did so. Then my son who it was raining, son was raining. My son was raining down on me. Yeah, he's making it rain in there. He wanted cars. And then my wife was like, play something with cars in it, because I was just playing trying to play Grand Theft Auto over time was the room. Yeah, but it was like me pausing it and I'm pausing to see as he ran in. So I was like, I would just run up to mission. But yes, I think this part has cursings. Like She's like, I don't care and I would un pause it. Trevor just yelling all sorts of bad stuff and then she would say, you know what, I think we're going to go in another room. That so I tried putting in a Grand Charismo, which I hadn't put that Cars, which I hadn't put in Ever I hadn't put in Yeah, And it took me about an hour and a half to get that game patched up. And this that I skipped the optional install yeah, because that's remember that. I could never forget scarred by that experience. And holy cow, like there were so many updates for that game, and it was about three gigs of download that had to be taken down. I don't know what they were putting in there. I think they added car I think they had they added stuff. But what a terrible user experience, like add anything to my game ever? Put no, put the game in and it's like, hey, you want to play Grand Trees and I'm sure, yeah, And then it's like, you can't, we need a bunch of updates. You can always you should have just turned off and unplugged your kids. It said this can't be done in the background. Oh you mean whatever, I'm not. I'm not. Yeah, it's but I mean, I don't know. People can play a lot about PlayStation, especially with patching and having to update a lot, but I always, I always think updating is a good thing. I don't know. No, No, I was like, I got a kid there. It's like cars, cars, cars, cars, cars, blue car cars, cars, yellow blue car car. No, it's coming. Hey, do you want to just cars? Cars? Do you want to look at fish fish cars? Sure? Not cars? Tell me about it. And so we watched Finding Nemo of the cars A litted and then he watched like two minutes of me burn around on the track and lose. Yeah, but man, I was, I was bummed out. It's the only car game you have, No, but it was the closest one on hand. I don't have four to uh. I was trying to think of other car games a paradise. Yeah, but I think I packed that away like most of my stuff when I moved houses, I packed away deep and Grand was one I left out because I was like, I like Grand Trees, moll, I'm sorry, yeah, Grand Trees, Molle. And then I was like, I'll probably play this again, which I didn't, but I left it out. Well, you know, Grand Trees. Most six is out and in December, so you know you'll get another shot at Yeah, keep my PS three out. Yeah, maybe it won't have as many updates first launches at least. And it reminds me of just all the UI stuff in that game. Yeah, they're terrible Jazz Yeah, Grand Trees, Well, you're so crazy anyway, video games anyway, video games, video games, drew, Yeah, what do you got? I spent a lot of last week playing Armor. How you playing a full track? Our full is that vital? Could you can? You? Can you play it without track our vitals like a flight simulator? You can totally play it without it. But it's it's nice to be able to the thing I use it the most is so if you've never played with tract arts, your head's independent from your body, right, so you can look around. You can torso twist, and it's really useful for if you're running in one direction and you're like looking to your sides to make sure there's no one flying in you. But your gun follows your eyeline, No, okay, it sticks follows your shoulders, follows your shoulders, So can you torso twist and move your head so you're running straight? Torso twist. That's a it's a misnomer. Okay, so you're turning your head in your head, Okay, you neck twist. Okay, so you have your your gun follows where your feet are going. Also, okay, got it. That game's cool. H there's no single player content outside of the tutorials, that's what I heard. Uh, that's they say that's coming. But right now it's just tutorial missions, sandboxy stuff, a mission editor, I believe. But they're considering it to be out right, this is considering your detail on sale. This isn't the beta, This isn't It is out out but and you can't go to the Steam community hub and download player created missions, and you can play online. I haven't done any of that yet, just went through the tutorials, but I don't know. It's it seems like a much more polished version of the Armor games. Yeah, those are the games are hard to play, man, Yeah, they yeah, they really are. Still it stalls a robot voice, right, oh yeah, but it's a much better robot voice. Well, it's a is a more accurate robot voice. I don't know if it's better, right, Yeah, but I tried playing Arma too. I'm pretty sure. I tried playing Arma, Arma. Do you have track? I R? I remember playing opp four on Xbox and it was it was not I know a lot of people love that game and on Xbox it was not good. But it's it seems like they've been doing this stuff for a long time. I just every time a combat encounter or an encounter happened, I just want it to be over, like you can move on with the story or yeah, I just yeah, I wanted to move on with the story. Did you feel that way the entire game or just more towards the end, mostly towards the end, because that's how I felt too. I just wanted to run through those combats exactly. Yeah, I thought that. I thought that. I thought that game out a lot easier as you went along, because it just had I mean I played on normal and if you guys play it on a hard or weapon, but I was on normal. Then I bumped it back down to easy. Okay, yeah that's a valid But even then I was getting my boot kicked. So I just got kind of bored of the combat after a while. Yeah, I knew the way out. I just didn't want to go through all the motions, right, and so I just wound up trying to the fastest way I can get through. It's kind of yeah, I don't know. Like I thought about going back to it over the weekend because it's still the disc that's in that PS three, and I was like, well, you know, at this point, like i'd probably have to start over from the beginning because it's been so long since I played it, Like I could probably use the control refresher, And I thought about it was like the point I was getting too was where it was like illustrating the dealth mechanics and all that sort of stuff, and I was like, I don't I just don't, like I don't know if I want to start on that combat, Like I just don't know if it's if it's for me on on that stuff. So it's I also have not gotten stuck that much in a game in a long time. For the most part, I was able to to figure it out. I was just like not knowing where to go. That's yeah, it's just it's just stuff like I need to look up and then go over there. And I tend to overthink things, and but yesterday I had to There was the only point I looked up a fact and I had to go to a video fact because nobody really writes text facts anymore. I totally do. But like the it was just like, oh, you didn't make your way across the buses, and I say, well, I can't, and so I had to watch a video and I just had to run instead of walk and jump. Yeah, it was a gap I didn't think I could make. And yeah, I don't know a lot of good things about that game, but playing it uh not my favorite. M Yeah, they get the gameplay for me as well, just uh towards the end, but that's st just kept me going so much. Yeah, and I thought that game wraps up exceptionally well yeah, really interesting. I did watch a couple of games, not video games, sports, I guess events. I did watch F one again this weekend, still boring, not the not the sport itself, but this season uh oh, because she says like one dude just pulls ahead and then he just wins it. Right, Yeah, well, I mean if if, yeah, that's what happens. Sorry, if you guys haven't seen that's what happens, you don't need to watch it because that's just oh man, I don't know. I hope it. I hope it gets good, but I think the guy's the federal the guy who wins everything is kind of running away with it. I don't think anybody can catch him, like points lead at this point. But people say like, yeah, this is one of the more boring seasons, and there's they're changing like everything about the cars for next year to make it more interesting. Well that and shake things up and spikes that ship out of the shoot out of the wheel oil slick. Well, NASCAR has done that before, to like reduce the cause, reduce the engine. Engineering is still important in NASCAR, but it's a much more even like no one team can be, you know, ten percent faster than anybody else right now. Uh that that that sport's really interesting because they they kind of try to make it applicable to modern car technology. It's not just about going fast, it's about technological pursuits. So for example, instead of just making the cargo as fast as they can, they try to introduce things like hybrid technology to make this sport more exciting. But also like maybe if we research enough about this, then it'll rub off on our consumer models system. Yeah, I care system and stuff, And they're they're one of the changes to next year is a they're boosting boost that with uh exhaust energy. I think they're going to recapture the right so right now they they they they capture kinetic energy from the wheels when you're breaking. That gets put into a battery, and now they're gonna take energy from the exhaust put that in the battery too, and everybody needs to do it. Yep. Man, it sounds like an expensive sport to be in. Oh yeah, yeah, that's billions of dollars per team. It's crazy. But I mean that stuffs like the CURVES system and the the DRS UH system are both like video gaming systems that I like seeing in there, Like it is like a boost. The CURVES is definitely a boost, and the DRS is it's a it's a zone, a designated zone in the track where you can open up your rear spoiler. Yeah, because normally it's it's closed and it's pressing down on the car to create downforce. But in a straight away you don't need that, so it can open up and you get a speed boost from there. And there's just something automatic or it does the driver have to manly, You have to manually do it. But you can only do it if you're a second or less behind the car in front. Yeah, so the lap leader can't do it or the leader can't wow, So it's so they're just rubber banding. Yeah, it's rubber banding it. But even with all that, that dude just keeps running away with it. Oh yeah, Well it doesn't help because he's so fast. His car is so good. He's so good that he just sets the fastest qualifying time, which puts him at the pole position, which means he gets to the corner first, which means he just runs the way he's just gone. He's just really getting so far ahead at this GP that he was able to go into the pit lane, do a pit stop, and come back out in the same spot he was first. He was over thirty seconds ahead of man number two. Yeah. Is he just really a master at cornering or because that's usually where the talent really comes in, right. Yeah, it's tough for me. I'm still pretty new to it to analyze the stuff. But he's he seems to be really a really good driver, and he has the best h engineers. Does he yawn when he wins the race? What did we start? It was just two big guys. It was dude showed up and say come on down, man, we're totally gonna do it. It was I think the guy there was the promoter flash the US Sumo. How big were the guys? The biggest dude there was four hundred and twenty pounds. That's pretty large. It is a huge dude. Kelly nice Nightly or something. Wow, was an American guy. This was an American guy. No, there were two Mongolians and one guy from Tonga. Where's Tonga the Nyland? Yeah's in the hotel up on top of the hill. Okay, he's from there. Yeah. But one of the guys, one of the Malian guys, Byamba, was a pro in Japan. Wow, and he was really really good. Uh Is he like musclear bag or just a big bag? I'm sure they're all yeah, but there must be tons of muscles, oh certainly. Yeah, and they're really flexible to literally tons no half uh quarter tons? Two thousand? Right? Yeah, like metric ton is like twenty two hundred. I don't know. Nobody ran at three times? What's a ton of it? Half a ton? No. In freakonomics, I think where they had this big they did like statistical analysis and a bunch of people who are really good sort of losing matches that they and it was all because they knew their competitor needed to win in order to you know, keep going in the league or whatever. And then they themselves had no reason to win the match because they weren't going to lose anything and the record wasn't going to be impacted for some obscure reasons. So I did a whole bunch of statistical analysis and they looked at a lot of matches and they've they found out like something like half of all Stumer wrestlers had thrown matches at some point because of I don't remember, have spent a long time since read about it, but it's pretty interesting. I think that's it is kind of funny that you didn't say America's Cup because that it was the other big thing going on this weekend and it was finally over. I use it all the time more for the Blu ray drive and Netflix streaming of stuff like that, rather than that's weird, because yeah, yeah, I don't know. I mean, it's probably Grand Theft V does look really good. I'm I'm gonna say V. I don't care. I thought maybe you hadn't used in one like, this's just I'm sure there's dust in there or anything, but I blow I blow it out every time that I can from the events whenever I do my computer. How often do you do your computer? I have an open case at this point. My video card actually overheats a lot, so I have an open case to the fan pointing in. And I played a lot of games like PC, so it was sort of just shut down over time, Like even playing something not stringing, it's like, wow, it would just start to spontaneously turn off. So I it's probably it's probably I bet the CPU, Uh, what's the stuff, the arctic silver, the thermal pace is probably worn down or something like that, because it's it's happening. I I'm like, but both this and the PS three are both like I'm kind of thinking about building a new PC, and I want a PS war But it's like two months of no no. I still get Blue Rays a lot from Netflix, so it's like I'm two months away. And I also have GTAI, a copy of GTA five that I bought that day, went home, installed it and started playing, like, oh here we go. So now I'm kind of Toldren I want a Blu ray player. I'll probably buy a PS four anyways, and that has a blue ray drive in there, but I also want to play Chet five, so it's kind of do I. I was thinking about buying a kit from like I Fix It Cells You're a Light of Death kids, and but the apparently takes like an hour. That's not so long. It's forty five bucks for a thing, and the thing is about the the it's this is a Checha six or whatever the model name is. It's still backwards compatible two and those things you can flip on E day. I should have done it, you know, a while back, because I was thinking about just trading straight up for one of these for a new slim line, because people still paying two hundred bucks of these on no kid. Yeah, you know, how else, if you have a PS two games that's not not on PSN, how is you can play its two maybe if you can find one that works, I guess you can. They're probably all over the place. I'm sure there are probably some stores that would still have a PS two here and there. But anyways, people like having the psree in the backwards I don't use this backwards compatible very much, but still that's such a shame I should get that. What is the cause of that? I didn't look into it. I'm assuming it's the same thing like thermal pace becoming looser. I haven't looked into the whole yellow light at that thing. But they do sell kits or you can pop open to PS three and try to resolder stuff back to back and forth. So it might be a fun way to spend a Saturday afternoon fifty bucks trying to learn more about the interior of a console. Do you have a three sixty? I do. I don't use it for very much anymore. Yeah, and I just I feel like I was sitting there without any like the potential use I have my sitting right an inches to your desk. Then just HDMI, you're I have done that. Yeah, it's it's a still. I don't have a blue right, Yeah, disk drive because who's crazy enough to buy one of the thought about getting one, like fifty bucks probably worth it. Yeah, I don't know. I thought about getting like a Blu ray burner, and I couldn't. But I couldn't think of a good reason why. Yeah, me too. It's like I don't need that much data going back for but but I don't. I don't. I am still trying to get DVDs in my garage and out of out of sight and out of my life. So like the DVD drive I have is like like rip locked or whatever, so I can't. It's there's no high speed. It is not as fast as it should be for me to encode uh mkvs of my DVDs. So I had this moment of like, if I replaced this drive with something better, it's like, well, maybe I could get one that's like a blue you know, blue ray burner and and all this other stuff that also does this stuff faster. That's that's just searching that stuff sucks. So I just never really bothered. So, uh, you know, emulators, you get no stuff. If you get the ROM of a game you already have. Is that that's generally regarded as all right, that is what every person who downloads people know. That's just what people say. If you're backing up your own copy of the game, that is technically fine. Okay, And there's been a lot of legal stuff there, like DVD ripping two for your home. You know, if if, if if I were to do that and then take that and then archive that to drop one hundred DVDs, and then I were to buy a really nice looking towel and hang out in Times Square with my hundred DVDs and if you want to asking people to make donations, and yeah, they want to hold on too. Like I'm gonna have a garage with a box full of DVDs in there, and that'll be that. There's a lot of other stuff, especially in gaming, like people who run private servers for Wow to avoid paying the you know, fifteen bucks a month. Yeah, that kind of stuff. It is kind of shady to me, but I don't know, it's I think it would be really exciting to run a private server for something like that, just because you could fuck with it. But then you're also like you have to be really popular, because I don't want to play Wow with like ten people all running around god mode. I don't want to play Wow with zero people in god mood. If I can just run around and see the content and go look at that, especially if it's like pre cataclysm. It's getting that way now you can just kind of do that because at this point it's kind of we're at the starter zones or the other stuff I've played, uh this week to get back to whatever is wow a little bit of wow. So I was gonna say, it's get to the point where you can just do whatever you want to in the older content, because the last patch for this expansion just went up five point four Siege of o Gramar, and now you're basically getting that that last patch thing where they give everybody epics and you can run back and basically kill stuff that was almost ipossible a couple of months ago. So what are people doing in Well? Are people still getting married in World of Warcraft? Still like all the social weirdness You don't hear about much anymore because they kind of like after the third wedding, nobody really reports on anymore. Uh, They'll still have like a farm. I have now four farms, but I don't go to them anymore because I stopped caring about a motorcycle. I do not those are still pretty expensive. I think, Wait, yeah, you can have a farm. Yeah, there's there's like player housing or something, or it's it's kind of not it's kind of like that, but kind of not. You have a farm with like sixteen plots of land and you can grow herbs there every day and they loom after twenty four hours and you can take them up and get whatever you want to. Oh that sounds terrible. Yeah, it's only cause the new crafting stuff. I don't know if you win the last time you played a while, but before Burning Crusade, okay, so they used to have all these spirits and moats and stuff like spirits of fire and moats of fire, and they kept on upgrading them every every expansion. But then they you can auction those and buy them and sell them, and they got to be you know, the market with the for how much people wanted, and you could quarre me buy a lot of them and make a lot of stuff right off the bat if you're willing to pay the price. But they restricted that to having them all soul bounce. You can't buy and sell, so you go usually what I farmed forwards that kind of stuff. But if I started a new character, yeah, I started a pandering right, a panda, Panda and panda. How long would it take me to get to level twenty twenty an hour? Maybe? Really, it's gotten a lot quicker. Oh, they nerf the XP gain in every expansion. Usually when a new expansion comes out, they nerf it going backwards for the previous expansion. This time they didn't even wait till the end of Pandaria. Now you can get to eighty five to ninety much quicker than you could when the game actually came out. So all right, helen to get to like thirty, that's when you get your mount, right, you get him out of twenty now used to get up forty, Now that's twenty. The entire game has been made to be as easy as FLOSSI because I stopped playing probably around level thirty, between somewhere in thirty and forty, and that was my entire career playing. Wow, that's months saw play. Yeah, I played hundreds of hours of one character and got to level like fifty three and then and then at that point I was like, man, I wish that I hadn't listened to all these fuckers I work with and gotten onto this PvP server. Yeah, and there Zual was pretty pretty bad back in the day. But I stopped at forty seven my first time, and that was the big grindy part of the original Vanilla. Now's probably where I was about forty five maybe, And now it's they give you so much XP. You can get airlooms in five slots, I'd each give you ten percent more XP. Monus, that's crazy. I don't even know what that means. It means you get fifty percent more XP for everything you do when you have these heirlooms and you get this like in the beginning, Oh, I know, you have to have another character pretty high up together, therefore secondary characters, but it's it's still but the only reason I bring it up because I've also been playing f F fourteen and I think I'm kind of done with that now, Like I think I'm just gonna stop because fourteen. Are you done with fourteen? Yeah? Wow? No, no, no, no, I'll keep playing Wild for a bit, but fourteen I kind of got to the point where I made my paladin, which is probably oh good, thirty, I don't want to say thirty forty, but summer around their hours, it was a long time to get because you have to level up one class. Yeah, I have to love two different classes and I and then I got I did the all this class work, and I was kind of like, oh, okay, all right, it'll become a pald. Now it turns out I still had to do more class quests for my main class and then do another quest to get the pad and stuff, and it just kind of I just kind of did you burn out a little bit. I don't say I wouldn't say it burned out, but the stuff I like to do in that game with the dungeons, and every time I got I unlocked a dungeon, I was already too high to do it at the level that it would would give me appriate rewards. Anyone I ever got one item reward drop from a dungeon, despite doing maybe six or seven of them. It was kind of like, wait, so if you're too powerful, you won't get the drop. No, you're like the level range for a dungeon WI me twenty to twenty two. I unlocked at twenty four, and it leveled me down at twenty two to play it. But then the items are all like appropriate for a level. It wasn't useless, ever, but it was also it just kind of there's I'd rather be doing stuff that's actually applicable to what I'm doing now, and I guess in the end, I mean, I'm probably gonna write a blog about why I don't didn't particularly care for the game, but a lot of UI stuff because it's on ps PS three and it's a lot of like Blizzard does character movement in games really well, like you move at a very fun speed in a relation to your surroundings, and a F fourteen just feel slow, and a lot of them. So what are you doing in Wow? What are you do when you log in there right now? I'm doing a lot of the aisle timeless Aisle stuff. They they put in a new zone that has a bunch of like like Level cops in ninety and there's much of like Level ninety one ninety two elites that are really really powerful, So you have to have a big group of people. So basically as a bunch of people run around killing you know, rare respawns to get a bunch of timeless coins and then turn that into gear. So so you're still like just doing gear runs and loot runs. I'm not at this point. Gear is kind of for what I do I mostly do heroics. I need to get back into the LFR stuff on my tank because I have a feeling i'd be a little less frustrated with it now. But yeah, I'm basically looking for a bit of gear and doing heroics and you know that kind of stuff. How many ninety characters do you have? Four? I think, and I'm starting on I'm trying to get a fifth one up there. It's not nearly as bad at a time commitment as it used to be. That better way, but wow, is a really fun game to play on my primary monitor while I'm streaming Netflix or you know, watching a movie or something like that, or watching football. It's also super easy to game to play that I can a when the mouse. This is sounds like a bad excuse. It's super easy to play while I'm doing this other stuff. The mouse doesn't lock to it, so you can go over to your second monitor if you want to and do a brows the web or whatever. I would never have been able to get pay this monthly fee for this thing that you kind of play. I enjoyed. It's a good time waster. Yeah, sure, that's mostly would have been trying. I'm trying to think of anything else I've been playing. I Oh, and the other thing I brought up was GTA five Crash, and I was again in my house all weekend, bore as hell. Yeah, and I saw they had a ten dollars off coupon for Saints or four on Amazon, and then I put that in there, and I had another five dollars promotional code, so I want to buy on that, downloading it and played about I think I played seven hours of that the first night. I was like, if I can't play GTA, might look at the second best thing. Yeah, they had that moment with Aerosmith popped up and I was like, yes, all right, yeah, my money will kind of right out of the gate. They let you know, like here's here's the game you bought, you know, just kind of inter nutshell, here's what we're going for. I've been enjoyed that quite a bit. Uh, I've yeah, I've h h t M. Yeah, Like I was, I started looking at October releases and trying to like plan out, like, I mean, what do you know, what am I gonna play? What are we gonna do a really busy month when I really not really like it's an odd and I started looking at like games, you know, I mean, there's gonna be like downloadble stuff. There's gonna be stuff on the PC that'll come along and you know that'll that will not be in a retailer database, which is where I was looking, but you know, kind of looking over that stuff like, yeah, October's like it's Pokemon x Y, which no, no thanks, It's like Batman cool, Battlefield's out the end of the month. Uh, Assassin's Creed Yay, it's like end of October. Are you excited about it? Yeah? Yeah? Did you like I actually did like three yeah, uh, more than a lot of people seem to have, right, Yeah, it's that's that seems like it's it's really been the trim wait, like I played up to like kind of the end of the tutorial bit where you kind of become an adult. It's about that's about what five hours? Yeah, exactly, Like I played that five hours and just I got to this point where it's like, okay, now you can play the game. And by the time I was like, no, man, I'm good to me, Like I don't think I want to tough to imagine being a designer on that series now because you have to account for new people coming in. But there are so many people who played five other games in that series already, Like, do you need to walk me through everything again? They've changed, they changed a lot of stuff with the trees, and they had systems in there to to deal with. But I just the story didn't grab me out of the gate, like the Yeah, nothing about that game really really worked for me. So so like four, I just I don't know, it doesn't it doesn't. Yeah, maybe it'll be awesome, like more pirate stuff that could be neat not a ton of pirate games out here. You play any ship paddles in the in the part of the three that you played, No, oh okay, that stuff was fun. Yeah no, no, But I played you know, the Pirates of the Caribbean Disney Infinity pack, and you know there were some ship paddles in there, so that was all right. So maybe this will be okay. But but that's one of those things that like, you know, it's it's It probably is a harder problem when they start shifting to new consoles and stuff like that, because you know, maybe the early adopters are people that would have played the previous games, but can you you know, is that one more step removed where you then have to account for like, well, maybe people didn't play PS three or Xbox three sixty games and they're just buying a PS four and now they're coming to Assassin's Creed for the first time and they haven't played a lot of other games lately either. Well, it's also you know, some of it maybe that's not a real person, but it seems like it could be. Well, the AC stuff is especially is so it's impossible to divorce from the storyline because they trying to integrate so closely. Other games you can just do like, hey, here's a VR mission. If you need to do this, go ahead, If not, skip it. But you can't really do that in a C three at all as far as I can tell. But now I feel like they are right with the way things go in three, with the story. I have to assume in four they're just not even going to address any of that stuff, and you're just going to be well, they did right. I think Brad was saying that this is like another character, Yeah, abstergo just yeah, like it's a training thing, sure or whatever. I don't know, Like that's that's maybe the other one watch is. You know, when I when I finally did start playing three, I already kind of had heard about what they had done to the Desmond end of the story. Yeah, and what do you mean end of the story? No, the Desmond end, the Desmond part of it. So that's the only story bit that I'm interested in. The street is the Desmond stuff, and the overarching stuff has always been kind of it's not as good at platforming as the rest of the game is. Well, I was just not. I did all the jumping around and three and it's like, hey, you've unlocked another part of your chamber, Like, where the hell is it? I can't find an Everything looks the same. But like that that end of it, the the par the future e part of it was always the stuff that I wanted to know more about, not these dead people that live inside his head. So I can't believe he never mentioned that John Delancy was was in that game too, Yeah, like as part of all the Borg the Borg stuff, like he's Figure and he's a fucking asshole. Yeah, but October it's surprisingly surprisingly slow in terms of I'm wondering if it's not just like marketing budgets only have so far to go around, and all the big games are kind of there. All the publishers want to push all this stuff for the next gen stuff, and they're just trying to save. Like if that's encouraging them to save some of that stuff for next year. Yeah, I don't know. Maybe I think it's it's hard to say, Like, you know, it seems like all the big names are present. I mean, you know, like these are not these are not insubstantial products. You know, it's like like Batman's coming from a different team and you know it didn't really really Yeah, I didn't hear that. Yeah, yeah, are they doing like two team things like Call of Duty or something. Rexidi's working on something else. They're they're working on the next gen game. Well these gods these yeah, yeah, Super Super Batman, Super Batman sixty four. Uh, while these other dudes work on this other Batman game that you know, like I played any three, Like, ah, you're making another Batman game, but I already played two of those and I really liked him, and I don't know if I want a third. Yeah, so it was this sort of weird Yeah, I don't know, like I was not left impressed with that, So I can't say that I'm like super excited for Batman. Battlefield looks cool, but Battlefield, but Battlefield has never been my thing either A Battlefield that's coming out on the next gent stuff too. It sounds like man, but you know, i'd probably say, well, Battlefield is Battlefield to me is a PC game, right, so a PC stuff aside, like that's its own beast, and like Battlefield arguably the best on the PC. It's it's why like this whole like there was a quote from I think it was Patrick Sutterland, uh saying like you know, we're not going to stop on Battlefield until we're number one and saying like we're going after Call of Duty like this is we we want to be the recent quote. Yeah, And it's just it seems fucking ridiculous to me because it's like they are two different games that appealed to two different crowds. Like, at no point are you going to unless you're willing to alienate one of the Battlefield die hards. Yeah, you're never going to convert Call of Duty players. That's weird. Yeah, I wonder if it's just not even the same thing. It's what kind of efforts they'll put into the single player again. Yeah, I don't know. I don't I don't think i've seen anything really well. I guess they they've shown some stuff on the single player, but let's when I played Anty three, it was just multiplayer. It looked beautiful. But if they're trying to get Call of Duty people into the multiplayer of Battlefield, then they need to make an entirely different game that's a very different Yeah. Like, but they shouldn't do that because that game already exists. That would be a medal of honor tried to do that work on real well for those guys. Or or go with the Bad Company stuff, like bring that back and try and evolve that into you want to get me on board with a Battlefield game, Bad Company three is the way to go. Give me that campaign and go back to the tone of Bad Company one. Yeah, but like, I feel like that's an opportunity to if you want to go after the Call of Duty style gameplay, you know, dude in bad company because the Battlefield stuff, Yeah, it's it's it's a ridiculous statement, like titan Fall is that game, you know, the game that EA also has, you know, that will that could theoretically go after Call of Duty players. I'm pretty I'm pretty curious to see Battlefield having spent like probably too much time, not a lot, but more than I normally would play hell Field three now, uh, I'm just curious to see what like the evolution of that is, Like what do you add, Dude, you add like fucking buildings that you can bring down? Like it's just a it's a control point that's on the top of a building, and you can just blow up that building and then that control points on. So so that's what I'm curious to see. It was like when I've played at E three, it was pretty fucking quick advantage of that for you though, Like well it's I mean when you're on top of that building, it's it's a point too that can be held, so you know, if you think you're about to lose it, just blow it up. Or if you can building you can't get it. Oh you I thought you had to control the thing to blow up. No no, no, okay no, so that building could just come out mechanically blow it up and just had do enough damage. I believe there are structural supports the bottom. I was on top of the building when it blew up, so I don't didn't actually see that part of the prefect Can you do the time to jump off and off? Okay, we need to get the fuck out of Alarms start going. You have plenty of time to get off of there. That's neat, but it ends up being like a really good The reason why you want to control that point is because it's the top of a building. You can parachute down to all the other control points, so it's just like that point becomes incredibly vital and then at some point you're like, all right, fuck these guys, we're just gonna bring this building down. Definitely, that happened pretty early in any given multiple what you think. I bet the points you have to go are like any kind of access point where somebody's got to sit there and hold wire or do something to get it, and those are gonna be defended. And you know, but but I'm seeing, Yeah, I'm curious to see what the player count is on the next gen stuff. Sounds like they're matching PC with PC. So like that's what makes me think like coming out on current gen stuff is like, oh no, they read that stuff. You can me like, look at what the thing about current gen stuff is that they have you know, one hundred million potential players right out of the bat, and Sony has like a million pre orders the PS four. Those are hardcore gamers are gonna buy a lot of games right off the bat. But and also it's one of the nice things about like it's Battlefield, it's a call of duty in a couple of other games. Like they've got this upgrade process, Yeah, in place where you can, Yeah, you can go buy the the you know, PS three version of Battlefield and then pay them ten bucks, put your disk in the drive of a PS four and then download a digital Battlefield four that I am not sure about that probably, but you know it would be the sort of thing that you would probably want to do it. Well, you don't actually need a PS four to go through the upgrade process, so if you if it was a limited time you could theoretically pay for the upgrade. Is there a code or something code in the box that you'll use to redeem, and then you'll have to if you have a ps R, you actually put the disk in and it recognizes that as a PS three disc. It's not backwards compatible. But then you get but it'll go ahead and grab ten bucks if you want to do it. Those are gonna be big downloads. But even without the code, it'll do that. On the PS one. Now you'll need the code. Okay, I think you have to have to use the code to buy the access and then keep the disk in the dry to play it. I'm not sure exactly how they'll do it, but uh, they outlined how they do it. I just I skimmed that part. So that's weird. That would be weird that make you keep the disc in there, because well, it's one of those things that you know, it's it's one of the it's. It prevents you from then selling the game used to some PS three player and then you end up with two people playing copies of the game, but they you don't have one code and that and yeah they would that other player wouldn't be able to upgrade, but they'd still be able to play. Yeah, okay, so that might whatever it makes, it makes me feel weird when you have to put it a disk that is not even being used to play the game. But yeah, those are gonna be really massive downloads of them. They're probably, but you know everything's gonna be you know, we download stuff like that on Steam now, you know, like it's it's uh yeah, so let's big for a console game. It's one of those things where you start to worry about the infrastructure that though those guys are put into place for what the downloads? Would you like? For sure, I download the last of Us that was like twenty five gigs. Yeah, I mean I'm not saying it's impossible, but I'm saying my monthly bandwidth cap is like two fifty gigs. Yeah, and I do stream a lot of Netflix too and that kind of stuff. It's just getting you worried. But what are you gonna do? They actually don't think Comcast actually has they they moved away from their cap system. I think they just say, hey, two fifty it starts starts to be like you don't know about it, But then they said there's no penalties are going over so. But there was one dude Tube had like a home like office system that he that he put all some movies on apparently was doing like seven gigs or seven terabytes a month to his family and friends who would just stream movies off of his stuff. So I think at that point they'll just like, you need a really big family changed California has a business to Yeah, I just need to move it up to a business. Yeah, which I almost signed up for anyway. But then turn out the home tiar was plenty fast. Yeah, it's a battlefield in October. Yeah, that'll be end of October. Uh and then that's like a week before Call of Duty and yeah, I mean I didn't they had an event to go like play Call of Duty when they did their multiplayer reveal, Like, I didn't go. So I haven't really seen much of that game since he three. I don't know, man's do you think that Battlefield? The producers of Battlefield like killed their employees to get them to get that game ready a week before Call of Duty. But that's what they did last time to you, But they don't put them out every year like All Duty does. Well, when were they announced, like was it one of those things where Call of Duty blinked first and announced and then Battlefield? Because Battlefield at this point hasn't come out before Call of Duty. Yeah, but I think Call of Duty kind of has that territory around around those weeks staked out. So I think they announced the fifth relatively early, and you know, like Battlefield come out early, Like I don't think activisions sitting there going like, oh no, well, I'm saying it's really important for Battlefield I assume to get out ahead, even a little bit ahead of Call of Duty because a Call of Duty. I don't know, maybe it's just you know, like maybe the Yeah, I sit here and say those games are two different games catering to two different audiences, and I think you should play Battlefield on a PC and Call of Duty on a console. But I think there's a lot of people who might buy both, but maybe not if they already have Call of Duty. I don't know. That's my kind of perception of Yeah, you know, I've I've looked at the numbers. I don't know what the actual data says, but that just seems like a crazy statement to even make. For me, the Battlefield and the consoles is just easier because it's the easiest way to get my family to play, and that's what I'm playing. It's like, Hey, put in your three sixty, let's go. Let's get yeah and play your fucking class man. Like, what are you doing? You learn how to use that snaper rifle? Yeah? Buy premium for nothing? Waste of money. God. Uh. So it's just easier than trying to get everybody together on So are you guys making Battlefield four plans? Are you? Are you making like console plans like your I just kind of avoided it. Yeah. If I get it, I would get it on the PC. But again, it would be really hard to get everybody's PC up to snuff to play it. Well, so I'll probably wound up getting it on a console with the hope that everybody's going to get their console. Yeah. Uh, and they'll probably wind up getting the I assume everybody would get the PS four, but I don't know. I have to talk this over. This is like, that's the you. I mean, I think use it to it. It is kind of on you to dictate to those people what console they buy. I know, it's my one job in the family. Yeah, and I blew it. I got a text from my cousin being like, so what console? It just said, I don't. I don't know, it's go with the console that your friends are on. And then he said, well, a PS four has a lets you share the game, so I'm gonna get that fucking Microsoft something to that effect. So the messaging is not so yeah, So it made me laugh and being like yeah, I just I was like, sure, okay, I don't have time to explain what happened here, but yeah, it's like, let me explained the last six months. I can't even go down that road. But yeah, that messaging is not penetrating some areas of like the backtracking and all the sharing game stuff and the way it's one hundred dollar priced. Well whatever it's I would have said that last time out. And I remember the PS three launch being really like there were a ton of people in line at the metre on like, why are you getting to PS three? I gotta get that Madden all right, Yeah it's been you could have been well okay, yeah, sure, you know what, yeah okay, uh and if you get a PS four, uh. I just personally feel like at this point, the PS four in the in the Xbox one, you know, and I don't see a clear choice. I really don't like, uh, I think until we see games, and and even if you can see a visible difference and you know, the digital foundry people will be looking at yeah exactly, you know, it'll be some stuff where like you know, a game will run in ten eighty on a PS four and seven twenty on an Xbox One. I wonder if people on the fence though, aren't going to look at uh, you know, a one price difference. And also, hey, I had a red ring of death, which a lot of people did. Sure, and if I never had a problem with the PlayStation three or never got one, maybe that maybe Microsoft's response to that stuff was pretty good when they actually responded to it. It's been a billion dollars on all stuff. I mean four is out earlier. Yeah, I think it's a cooler looking box. Yeah. Well, like he does watch a lot, so like that, he does watch a lot of sports, and like, I don't know if he is interested. I don't know what fantasy football league he he uses. Probably not, probably not. But it does have that pass through stuff, so maybe that's something for the Xbox One. If he's already watching TV though he's already probably pretty good at it. I'm watching TV. Yeah, he's figure out work a remote control. You can probably change the channels, like you know, it's you know, if you're introducing someone who's new to television, then yeah, you might want to like Xbox show the pornography, but Hustler channel. And I don't think he's interested in the connect I don't. I don't know, but you're right, I gotta. I have have to have a meeting with my family to figure out what will be the battlefield platform of choice, because I've got right now, I've got my pre order on both, so I'll go with which everyone the rest of the family decides to go with. But man, it's gonna come to the Caravelle family see which way they leave at this point, you're you're you're just talking about eventually. I assume I'm gonna get both of them at some point, all right? Is that kind of how you feel too? Or is for me personally, I'm gonna have both of them, Yeah, but the rest of my family, you know, I'm not gonna be like, you'll get both of them and hedge Bets and let's not get this until we all figure out which is the better console. But make sure you get pre worter room because I'm not waiting yeah, So I'm gonna wait and see what everybody gets. Like, you know, we're talking about like we're talking like four or five people here with my family that had to lay out four hundred dollars on a console or five or five hundred dollars on a console, so plus and then and then buying the game. So if I buy my consoles, maybe I'll try to. It would be illegal to like go to Utah or something just to save hundred bucks, but I'm not sure that. Why don't we just do like we'll remake, We'll do shot for shot, remake a smoking in the bandit. I was smuggling PS fours, but not really smuggling, just buying them there and then driving them back. He smuggling. I couldn't get cores on the east of the Rockies, so and it was illegal to truck it there too. So man, Yeah, that the taxes here in s f for are high enough to it's like ten percent, it's eight point five minimum. I think it's not. I know it's higher in San Francisco at all. Is the highest throw extra percentage, get a peal box whatever bullshit this fantasy spends it on Amazon. Will we'll detect me from now in charge it too, so there's no way around it. But what if you what if you like spoof your IP to do it a VPN or something where I think ship to ship it to a peal box in Utah and then have them shipping and by that whole thing. And then I just couldn't get it together to like say like I'm gonna get some fireworks shipped up to you guys in Organton, and then you would you get it and then I'll ship it to you. Or I wasn't even sixteen, so they would have had to ship it down, which would have been illegal on top of ill right, so I could I wouldn't be able to drive up and get it. So it never came together. My amazing fireworks plan never never happened. What if you put in a change of address with the Post Office to a house, Oh, just like, get a house in some other state and then have it forwarded to California. Don't buy a house, but like figure out like an abandoned a mail drop, get a mail drop, and then do a change of address, and then quickly do another change of address so that when it gets shipped there they have the change of a dress form. So the thing I ended up doing is I locked in really tight anticipating muzzle climb, and I ended up hitting low a lot because I was overcompensating for the muzzle climb. So you can compensate for it. It's just you know, you have to know, you have to know your weapon right, just like dragging your your mouth down while you're exactly there. Uh, it looks like they're all happened. They may all happen this week, but the first of their three announcements hit on Monday morning. Steam Os, Steam Moss, Steams, Steams. Yes they are. They are going to put out a Linux based OS called Steam Os. I loves. Yeah. I installed BOS on my laptop. There get a b box. Absolutely? Did you like b It was fun? Yeah for like a day. Yeah, that's OS. Two was the same way. Yeah, you installed it? When like this is great? I gotta get this thing out of here. What do I do with my steam Ols? It's like he's in a Mac. Yeah, it's like a Mac but even more stripped down. It's sorry you guys talk about OS as. I had to get it in there. Fine, I'm okay with that, And I'm gonna use my MacBook Pro to read this story about this Linux based operating system that Valve is producing for gaming, sum receive bombers putting the hit out on you right now. Yeah, exactly, it's it is. It is an interesting announcement that I think will probably make a lot more sense whenever they get to announcing the rest of the stuff that they'll probably announce. But basically, they want to make an OS that is friendly for Steam, friendly for gaming, that is Linux based and free from Windows and freely redistributable by manufacturers. So if a company wanted to make, uh, you know, a PC that was prepped and ready to go for Linux based Steam games, this would be an OS you could run on it they're putting. They've said they've already put a lot of work into significant graphics processing increases. You know, Linux can be kind of dicey on some of the configuration stuff, and my experience, you know, get drivers, support the drivers working, and that sort of stuff, especially if you want to keep it free and openly available. That that was where it kind of really broke down. But if there's some giant corporation that is making sure that all your driver is stuff gonna work on their operating system, yeah, it's probably the most seamless you could get for for Linux. Yeah. Yeah, so well, I mean Linux runs on all kinds of weird closed systems and all types of very easy to use systems. But yeah, so if they if they're making something like that, I just I've had I built a myth TV box. Yeah in college. Oh my god, so many nightmares, just all these comp files and so many different typing to try to get stuff resolved. Too. So I mean I tried to get I got Raspberry Pie up and running on, or I got XBMC up and running on on the Raspberry Pie, and there was a I actually like a little shell prompt. I'm yeah, but it's just like to have a lot of it in my life. This should work, this isn't work. How do I fix this? I don't know. Yeah, that that does get pretty annoying after a while. They're they're evergreen to install totally fried itself over video car drivers and stuff like that. So yeah, I mean, how many percentage of people on the net now, Like at one point was one hundred percent people had done a CD dot dot at some point, But now the percentage of people who have never looked at loss or any kind of command line interface. It's probably like fifty sixty percent at this point. Yeah, but that's that's not I don't think SteamOS is gonna like, oh no, I'm into a bash prompt fucking too. All right, go, So, like, like I said, they said that they have put a significant work into graphics processing increases. They're working on audio performance and controller latency at the OS level. OS level that is, that is cool to me. Yeah, So it's a lot lower level than something like Windows, which theoretically offers some increases. You know, It's like I feel like, you know, Windows based PC games already perform so far and above everything else out there that you know, will will these increases actually matter compared to that, considering Microsoft has done a ton of work on direct X and all this other stuff. Like, you know, it becomes a philosophical argument at some point, but I just kind of like the approach that they're taking with all right, we have the opportunity to make an OS four games, right, what does that look like? Yeah? Yeah, And and what it looks like is, you know, it's something that would theoretically run games that already support Linux that are on Steam, which it sounds like there are about two hundred of those, okay, and they're not all outstanding, but they're all I mean, they're going to be mostly it, and I'm assuming they're gonna put all their own Steam games into it too. But beyond they've already I believe they've already put source engine stuff out on Linux when they when they started down this road. So the other piece of this puzzle then, is that it will act as a streaming receiver from your Windows or Mac based computer. So a device running SteamOS, Yes, a device running SteamOS. You can access a Windows machine over your network and stream your game to this box, Okay. So that opens up potential for very thin client type stuff of that is just you know, in videos shield style stream box. That is just like I want to play PC games on my TV. My TV is not near enough for there to be an HDMI cable solution that just makes this work. So this will be kind of the next best thing in that department. So you would still have access to uh, you know, your your your full library. I don't know if it'll be big picture only or anything like that will be a kind of wait to hear more. That to me makes me think that the steam Box is at the minimum one of those things, just a tiny little yep sized thing that just streams from your totally power house machine. So I think that'll. Yeah, I think they have a lot of options by supporting Linux, and if they're fostering that in developers, if they're incentivizing developers to make sure that they're apporting their games to Linux, to make sure that they're supporting whatever they're coming up with in terms of enhancements for graphics and audio and all that other stuff which they say they are. They say that they've got you know, Triple A Games publishers working on stuff that will work with this OS, and that they're loving they're loving what they're seeing and that sort of stuff. So you know, we'll kind of have to see what actually shakes out of that. But bare minimum, yeah, you would have a streaming box that you could use to uh, you know, play PC games on your TV. And also they are working with music, TV and movie media services, so at that point I would expect you to see you know, your Netflix apps, your Hulu app or you know, various various stuff like that. I wonder if they'll be in the hardware game or if they'll partner with somebody to put this out. I think they will probably, I think they could do both. They do say because this is all about the OS, they're not talking about hardware. They're not talking about any of that stuff. Wednesday they will make their second of three announcements, which I expect that means that Friday morning will hear the third if they just space it out two days across them all. But yeah, that that seems like the sort of thing they would do. And and at this point, yeah, uh, because it's a much different business. It is. But they say it's that that's OS is freely licensable to manufacturers. So that means to me that means, you know, if a company wanted to put out something, you know, that was a machine that could run these Linux based games and just install the Steam OS, they don't have to go to the box at all. They don't. Yeah, well, it freely licensible, so they might have to go apply for a license, but it won't cost them any money. I I seriously doubt they have any kind of independently valve made. I'm assuming they're going to go with a harder partner. I mean, you start going to hardware, you have a huge amount of like warranty claims, support stuff. Yeah, that just seems like they're not the infrastructure that Valve has enough, right, But I think it depends on it. It depends on what is to come from here. It may be that when it comes to larger machines, the bulkiear you know, more powerful just PC as PC's, that they would partner for manufacturers with for that. But they could very easily partner with one manufacturer for some kind of thin little stream focused like yeah, totally they could now if they want like an actual thing they can actually play games, because at some point, if they're going to have a triple A game on Linux, why don't just go to a you know, CyberPower PC or or you know whatever. Let's see the big del one that they own Alienware just have like hey, duel boot on this. You can use Windows if you want to. You can also you can light it can be a steam Box or whatever. Sex I wonder how big they'll get with these announcements, Like I wonder, you know, at some point, yeah, obviously you can turn your alienware PC into a Steambox or steam os box. But I wonder at the end of this if they'll just be like you know, the small stuff, and like, hey, well I figured that that's probably you know, they've got two more announcements, and you got a figure that one is hardware. Well, I think they would probably both be hardware. I could see one being the smaller one hundred dollars one hundred and fifty dollars kind of Apple TV Roku competitor that also plays games. And that's the thing that's you know, yeah, it's technically it's Linux space, but it's not gonna be powerful enough to really run anything on its own other than the applications for Netflix, you know, like like that sort of stuff. Everything else gaming related, you would probably want to get off your way more powerful desktop machine somewhere else in the house, assuming the streaming is high enough quality for that to be acceptable and the latencies down and all that sort of seek that would have its own controller. Uh yeah, I think they. I think they probably will have a controller as a part of this fam lap board. Yep, wow, yep, they're bringing it back for real zies at this time, and I would and then I wouldn't be surprised if the third thing is kind of the standard. Here is an actual PC that runs this thing, So you can play these two hundred games plus whatever's to come in the future of Linux space game development. But it also plays your Windows and Mac like a max a theoretical likes. I don't know this. This MacBook doesn't run any of those games acceptably. So maybe they'll do if they're if they're doing some of the streaming stuff, maybe their third announcement. I'm with you with the hardware stuff, but I would suspect the hardware stuff would all be rolling into one. Maybe they'll do something with the streaming like the other two guys are doing, like Microsoft Maansny and just do something else with game streaming, Hey, like stream games your you know, friends or something like that, or you know, and we've partnered with Twitch. Yeah, something weird like that. Or portal three years, you know the other the other thing that people want as a game announcement. But yeah, there you go. It's got me halfway. Obviously, it's a portal OS. It's glad ass. Yeah, they're just working on two OSS, but like, it would be cool if they could do the streaming while you're downloading, especially if stuff is getting bigger, start playing automatically throught back too. Yeah, totally, But I feel like that's a thing that you could do on any Steam client, PC, MAC, whatever, Like that's that's a shift that doesn't necessarily like these announcements are all tied to the living room, All three announcements are. You can safely assume that they will be tied to kind of this initiative based on how they've structure their URLs and that sort of stuff. So I don't know that it wouldn't necessarily make a ton of sense for there to be a game announcement in there. You mean, like an infrastructure. Yeah, yeah, So I figure, do you think it's going to be the stream like the small one, big one? I think it's either small one, big one, or it's here's a controller and here's hardware, and then they they do small one, big one in one go right as part of their their hardware reveal that that's that's my guess. That's kind of my gut feeling off. The big one seems less like yeah, it's a PC, right, Yeah, it's it's it is it's a PC. But you know, like form factor matters if they can say like hey, you know, like so like as I kind of got deeper into x XBMC, and wanting to stream stuff around the house. Like at some point it started making sense for me to start investigating like home theater PCs that are built to be quiet size. Yeah yeah, they're that are built to be a little smaller fitting an entertainment center. So I think there's like there's value to me personally. I think there's there's value out there for someone to make that easy. And there are companies out there that do it now and make it easy, but they're just companies you've never heard of. And it's just like, can I trust this to do what I need it to do? And what about upgrading it? Right? There's a lot of different catches there, So you know, I think if you know, if Valve comes out like the Valve having a gaming focus, would care about things like upgradable graphics cards and you know, I'm making sure that these parts are you know, they're going with Linux because they like how open it can be, so you know, you can assume that that ethos would carry over to whatever they would do in the hardware space as well. When it comes to these bigger things. I think at the smaller box, that's a different it's a different story. You don't necessarily have to be open from a hardware perspective, and they have the brand cachet to make sure that people actually work on that kernel after they put it out and contribute to it. Like if this is some random one off like try, hey, we're gonna do a new Linux fork, and how they would be very it's gonna gaming, it's gonna run tux racer real well. The fact that it has the Valve name behind it automatically gets me get I have a fair amount of good will for it from the start. But I mean I'm a little less skeptical, skeptical than I would be otherwise, but it's still something I'm really yeah, I think it's a it's conceptually interesting. I don't know this. This to me has kind of seemed like the only move they could make for a while. If you started looking at, you know, everything that Gabe had been saying ab out Windows eight, everything he had been saying about Linux at some point like those things don't add up. The bulk of the Steam library runs on Windows and Windows only, so you can't just go like, here's this Linux based solution POW without offering this streaming thing on top of it. It's really the only way that they's that they can convert everybody. If it's like, hey, you're gonna lose ninety five per cent of your library coming over here, that that doesn't work. So the streaming based stuff gives them the ability to play the existing library while getting out there and trying to penetrate and trying to get more people on Linux and trying to kind of get Microsoft a little more out of the loop, and and in favor of you know, establishing themselves as kind of this weird hybrid hardware software kind of OS level player. Ye setting that's a lot of a lot of pies have fingers in totally. But you know, if like that's Valves fucking crazy and they have all the money they get, Yeah, I curious about the Dota two is bringing them in, Like if this is basically the Dota two profits like putting back in as you know that game is making them. Oh sure, and I think now it's the time to kind of put on your full assault. Right before the consoles launched this, you know, they gained a lot of ground over this generation on the PC front with good ports, a lot of developers bringing their best game to the PC, and next time, it might be even more with all this stuff being these are basically small PCs, all these consoles are stuff, it's gonna be a lot easier to port stuff over. Yeah, but the work's getting done, you know, it's like this open gl stuff. Yeah, it's like like the getting that stuff on Linux is you know, as I understand it, not the most difficult thing in the world. If you're already doing all this other work. The loss of the direct X stuff will probably be the most. Yeah, but that's that's stuff that if you're making a PS four game, you don't get that stuff anyway. So it's it's sort of there was just no literally no reason to do a Linux port. Now there's kind of a reason. Yeah, yeah, more or less. I mean really, I mean some people would do it just out of support for total that's yeah. Figured early there's no reason. Yeah, but but the the headway the game, they feel like they could lose uh, some of it if they don't push harder. With the consoles coming out, I mean, the games will come to PC, but I think the disparity will be you're you're right, but I just don't think that this is something that, at least right now, it's not built to compete with with consoles that directly the people that want those boxes want those boxes and want the games that run on them that are you know, and and they will in some cases want the first party stuff that would never come to Steam in the first place. This seems like something where well, yeah, I guess whatever it maybe it does bite into it if you if you look at it from the perspective of it, like, Okay, you already have a PC, you want to play PC games? Maybe you know, you got a family, you got a kid that maybe you want to play some games too. You know, you can't go out and buy a console, or hey, you already have this huge library of PC games, maybe and just give your kid access to it. They did say family controls would be part of this, oass I mean, it also does let you play if you have your PC. It doesn't let you play in any room of your house. If you have multiple rooms in your house, exactly, you can put this thing anywhere, which I assume would let you. I have no idea how it works, but you know, starting one room moved to another room without turning the game off or doing anything like that. I assume that'd be That sounds really tough. I'm assuming you're gonna be able to play where the Steam boxes and not anywhere else. Well, it must be sending. It's probably not sending, yeah, I mean sending video. Yeah, it's gonna have to render the game. Like I bet the PC will be incapacitated while you do this. Yeah. Yeah, it's like I'm assuming it's like setting up a third monitor something like that. So you probably I bet you could start playing on your PC, pause it, walk out to another room and pick it. That'd be cool, but that's at the time. Like for me, I'm buying come November, I'm buying a lot of these games that are available on PC on console just because it's the console that the hot new thing, right, Yeah, not for any other reason. Then I'm gonna buy these consoles. Probably need to buy a game on it, and the Steam has a hot new thing, I'll probably want to check that out too and see what's going on there. So it is a little refreshing to see them trying to add another device. I mean, I've had my PC in my living for ages and I like it in there, but Big Picture Mode kind of fell apart, like it crashed too often. Yeah, and it wasn't worth it crashing in the background versus the Steam Client, which I don't know never crashed. Yeah, Big picture mode is weird. I don't know, like the yeah, the unreliability of it, you know, especially with them building upon that to push into this, Like some of that stuff just seems dicey or they just took all their people and we're like, all right, you're working on Steam most for now. Forget that other thing, right, it's still in beta oncep whatever is still in beta or to come out of it. Still it is a big ass button on the Steam Client. Yeah, that is there all the time that I accidentally hit sometimes, God damn it. I still love in theory if it just ran, okay, yeah exactly, I'd probably use it more often. But you know, the way it works is all clunky. You know, it opens web pages for certain stuffs. Yeah, yeah, it's just silly. Yeah, And yeah, I don't know. I think that whatever solution they come to with, you know, streaming games and all that sort of stuff, like it doesn't seem like it'll be this huge mass market thing, Like they're not going to go take out Super Bowl ads for for this stuff. Or whatever, you know, to immediately compete with maybe just Gabe sharpening a knife and then after thirty seconds he like it was bomber. I'm coming from cut out the middle man. Yeah, exactly. Yeah, it's super interesting. Could be the purest gaming system out there. Yeah, I mean in a lot of ways. You know, an upgradable box that you can just straight up say, fuck it, I need a new video card. That's the great thing about PC gaming. Yeah, and it's it's one of the nice things. Like you get the impression that Valves seem to understand that that is one of the nice things about PC gaming, but also that it could be easier. So if they can hit both of those things by saying like here's an OS that is built for this ship, like it's you know, it's not going to fuck up, Like well, we'll be able to handle you putting in a new video car. We'll be able to handle this stuff. It's not going to get too weird, and can make that easier for uh, you know, regular ass people. That's great for everybody. Yea, yeah, I worry about driver drivers stuff for video cards though, Like I know that am D and and video have some Linux support, but I'm assuming they haven't been necessarily rolling out all every change they make every month on their video car drivers to Linux necessarily. I don't know how all this development stuff works, but I wouldn't want to do this installing I know, installing the like I guess they were ATI drivers at that point, but installing those drivers on my Linux install was the hugest painting the ass of anything I did under Linux. I've heard a lot and so you know, it'll be super easy on yum installed. It's you know, tar Ball, Hey something seem does good the downloading updates and installing them. Steam does have the video card, so they already. I have partnerships with those video card and people, but I worry. I think they're just it's only only AMD drivers installed automatically through the clients. I want to say. In video it still pops a web page when you did search, but yeah, and it's weird thing is to go to go to that hey search for drivers and you have to type I don't think I have the type anymore. They have like web apps, but right right, it's still less. Yeah, like I have the nvidio app installed and it just comes up and says, hey, we made Dirt two run four percent faster, and tomb Rader all continues to like every single driver update comes up and says like tomb Rator runs six percent faster, it's almost up yeah again, or it just runs it like a trillion frames per second and that hair is just taking up the entire screen. I don't know what it is, but so we've we've finally hit the nightmare. Steam has taken turned the PC, the open PC platform, into its own console. Thanks Steam, you did it our dark future. I should have listened to all the my PC brothers out there warning me, uh well, you can always just and sold to Surah and pretend none of this is ever happening until they make their own console, Sura Box, gotch. Can you imagine the all the platforms Origin box. At some point it just starts to look like, Yeah, some point, I just starts to look like all the Android devices like the Uya and the game stick, and there's some other dumb fucking one. They just moved the PC back into the living room, so you know what it was all here. Yeah, I'm never gonna hook my PC up to my TV for any length the time. I have a backup PC and an older machine that I have hooked up to a TV right now. But it's not it would not run games in an acceptable frame rate. It's just it's merely there because I don't have a good home theater PC to do XPMC stuff and I'm not putting my racing wheel and toy sticks in the living room. Well that's sorry. You know, it's you know, you want people to walk into your house and get a good clear sense of what the fuck's going on with you, ladies, that's the way to do it. One was like a circle, Yeah, that's the first one, and then one's a circle that's kind of in a box like okay, and then the ones like circle plus circle and that's inside a box. Steam binoculars, yeah, steam binoculars, or like they'll just ship a dual boot machine. I don't even know, like what if they do like family sharing with the last Family sharing is one of the bullet points that they already list on that as as as something that's built into st MOS, so we'll see. Yeah, super interesting. You know. It's I feel like this is this is kind of the move for them, and they're making it and that's cool, I mean the move for them if they want to actually get into this, which like what else came out of TGS, Well, uh la La Lata two got announced at TGS. Did you want to talk about things that happened at TGS that made me go, oh shit, that might have been the one thing really yeah, yeah, it was not a very exciting TGS. Somebody mildly observing it, Yeah, it's uh yeah, totally. I think you know, earlier in the year, it seemed like it could have been kind of the last big battleground, the last spot for them to announce stuff. But Sony ended up holding its event and like kind of well before the show, and that's where they announced the VTA TV and the Japanese release date for PS four and stuff like that. Yeah, that's all. I had a keynote and I was curious if anything, I'd I don't think they really set anything there, just gonna reiterated, Yeah, you're gonna buy one of these anyways you're Japanese, Well it's they're not out this year over there, any real VT TVs aren't. But the VTA TV is is November, but PS four is February. What. Yeah, they're kind of they're kind of saying that like oh, you know the Japanese developers then you know they're still working on games and you know they have a few comma different lines. They mean that we want our inventory for North America exactly, and Europe, like Europe is definitely like a Europe might be a bigger battleground than than North America this time out Christmas, I don't know if Christmas is like a big thing over there in Japan, like it's that's a really big shopping season. Maybe that's I have no idea it is to some extent. I don't think it's necessarily crazy like it is. They don't have a Black Friday equivalent. They don't have it in Europe either, which is why it's it's out on Black Friday. They don't celebrate Thanksgiving an Europe. I don't know. The Genesis port will now work with the power based converter, which was the Master system thing that you could plug into the top of a Genesis and play fucking Masters they building there. Go back in time and stop them. I want to meet those guys. Yeah. Uh, it's the Hyperkin people. They've made all kinds of stuff that you don't want, so you don't want, and then they make this thing that looks like it could be kind of neat, but I don't know, it's kind of funny. Anything else are they adding to it. I think that's the main thing. I don't know, we'll see at some point they'd be like, oh, fuck at turbographics games. We put a CD drive in it and it'll just boot sec a CD stuff. I don't know, Xbox one. Plug your biostump on an SD card into this thing. Yeah, speak of Xbox One. Okay, Xbox One. It is not built to stand on its side. They do not recommend that you put it vertical. This one doesn't an Xbox also right, doesn't invent out of both sides or my crazy Xbox vertical. We took out all the TV stuff so it can stand up, and the place where the connectors is now a TV stand. It doesn't work with a connect at all anymore. We took that poured out and now it plays Master System games. So please just please stop. Uh uh, Matt Roy, you alluded to it earlier, but Grand Theft out of Five sold eight hundred million dollars in twenty four hours and one billion in its first three days. That's a lot but a game record, I guess. Yeah, the guy think cast off all your bullshit like records like Yeah, those are numbers. It's not like box office summers where these are reported to the dollar. These are very opaque, kind of like nobody they they're making a lot of money on this. They probably made They probably rocks are I don't think they're lying too, No, no, but rocks are probably actually bounding. Yeah, rocks are probably got about half that, I would assume, IM probably sure, So marketing, that's there they're I mean, in terms of profit on the game, they're probably not even there yet. I mean, they profit on the game, but the retailer cuts are a lot of that billion dollars. Sure, And they ended up I guess the rumored or semi reported figure for development costs ended up being somewhere around two hundred and fifty million. Yeah. I think that included marketing there too, which is a big They spent a lot. Part of the two was marketing. Yeah, they pulled it a billion. Well, that's that's what I'm saying. They didn't pull in a billion. But what I'm saying, like, even if a billion growth there, they're cut of that. They have problem with them. They bet they're by now. And and I'm curious what because in the movie business, basically theaters. You know, the cut between movie theaters and studios there just about half and a half depending on the weekend. The opening weekend is usually a little bit more for the studios, and then theaters get more as it goes on. I'm curious if rock Star doesn't have like the way to negotiate their share of these sales way up. Especially Hey, on the first day you're gonna be open at midnight, You're gonna every store is gonna make you know, fifty grand or a hundred grand or whatever. We want more than we normally get because we want your Call of Duty numbers to come back to us rather than like, rather than like this shitty game that's coming out, you know, sure, Yeah, yeah, I wonder I haven't really heard about I'm individual games negotiating with with retail. Rock Star really only puts. They're not a huge publish They only put out a few blockbuster games, you know. Yeah, so if they if anybody had the balls to do it, I think, yeah, absolutely that and Call of Duty, I'm I'm curious of activision doesn't cut. I have no idea how the stuff works because its back to three skews for Call of Duty this year, they've got like the hardened and veteran like in one. I forget what the expensive one comes with. It's not night vision goggles, but it's an actual ghosts meat. I want to say. It might be a room of control helicopter. I forget. I don't know no one of those, like a drug, yeah, something really something like that. I don't remember. I could look it up, but I that I actually don't care. I'm saying it's hard to be excited about a number like a billion dollars when I have no idea what it's. It's it's hard for me to be excited about a billion dollars when zero of those dollars are coming to me anyway. So like, yeah, I'm not going to like, yeah, granddad Dado brought it a billion who I still like that it did it without any kind of online requirement or DLC at launch or or anything like that. It's kind of like, hey, here's here's a really good game in the series that is just fively really popular. I mean, it's a big name. Not everything's go ahead and do that. But yeah, it's still like you don't have to look at the future and have like, oh, it's everything that's gon have DLC and micro transactions and all this other stuff. I know. I think it justifies and kind of answers the question of just like why was this, Why did this come out on current generation consoles? Why didn't they hold it? Like because a zillion people own current consoles, so it'd be great if three months well I'd say four months from now rock Star closed. It is like we just didn't make Yeah, grant that a six kick starts. Yeah, sorry, do you think? But man making games expensive stretch goal? We've got, you know, hand grenades more than two cars. Yeah, Trevor DLC paid three hundreds for a bigger car. It's got nine hard points table in the back. Yeah. If you imagine them doing grand theft auto as a Star Citizen model, and like, how much people would fucking put down on that? Before I put down fifty grand on it's not even out yet. Pachinko was what Sega was doing before they were video games. Sego was an American company that started into into video games. But the you know seg Sammy, they have pachinko parlors. Now they've got all everyone's into. Everyone in Japan is into all kinds of non game business, Like Konami has a ton of health clubs. That's where they make most of their money. Now, Sony, you know, Sonny Sony Corporation makes a third of their profits on life insurance or just insurance in Japan. Yeah, like that's like he didn't know that. Yeah, there's there are a ton of Yeah, Japanese businesses are weird because they end up expanding into like these you know, weird verticals where like half of them are also banks. Minoru Arakawa started a Nintendo of America and I believe he was his son in law if I remember correctly, And they went out and started that with with Howard Lincoln and that sort of stuff, and Nestor that's Howard Phillips. Yes, man, I always get them messed up. Yeah, like all the NA stuff and all the Mariners and all kinds of crazy stuff. I think it was was was all those guys. Uh yeah, So that's uh yeah, well we'll see. You know, it's hard to really know. I don't really know what sort of impact he had in his advisory role and how that'll you know, how his uh that that loss will will affect that company. But we'll see. Yeah. Yeah, ten as a hell of a company. Yeah, you know, I mean, hey, you know, say what you will about you know, kind of their their current output and that sort of stuff. I mean, you know, like post Atari, you know, someone would have probably eventually brought it back game consoles and that sort of stuff. So that was basically it was a period of time when dollar bins. Yeah, like the Atari fucked up an oversaturated the market with a bunch of junk ass games, and the fat ended gaming didn't go away. Our case covers in the nineties and stuff like that. Yeah, yeah, like you know, uh and then still existed and computer games thrived at that point. Uh. So that's for me, it didn't seem like there was a crash going on because at that point I kind of transitioned to like, you know, yeah and an Amiga and a Comb sixty four and stuff like that. But you know, like the TV game market definitely went south. And it is eighty three eight, yeah, well what is it. Famicom came out in Japan around eighty three I think the US, I think it was, Yeah, it was it was late eighty five, and then then all of a sudden, Super Mario Why why Yeah. My favorite fact about Nintendo is that when they put out The Superintendent, I got a bunch of anger letters like why do you need why did I bought you know, bought, I bought one already, Why would you sell me another Nintendo? Yeah? Exactly. My favorite thing was a Nintendo seal of approval to say these are not hey, hey, don't worry what. I don't care where atari did these are approved? These are we we we ventose unlicensed games. If you see anything that says color dreams on it, I want you to take a shit on that box. Is it a great cart? No, it's a I got a black It was a black cart with a yellow tab on it, no seal of approval. I rented it from a store and I was like, it doesn't have a seal on it. It's amazing. Yeah, basically, bring the seal of approval back. Well now it's it used to be Nintendo Seal of Quality, right, and now it's called the official Nintendo seal. And then the EA games that were coming out early on didn't have it like that was all like early EA stuff on the Genesis with their big weird cartches that had the weird yellow tabs. What was the old tab just look cool? I don't know. You could take it out and pretend it was a key, like I gotta put this on this populous cart before it to work. And I guess Sony's gonna be launching sing Star, which is their karaoke platform, in that similar kind of free to play. I really wish rock band would have done it where you can just give me a twenty four hour pass all these songs. Yeah, because that's the thing that actually, yeah, that'd be nobody fights over that. I think everybody pays. Yeah. I had a moment over the weekend where I really wanted to set all of the rock band ship up again. Really yeah, but you would play at all, I don't know. Cover uh Sega has purchased Atlas. I don't think we talked about this last week. I don't think it happened yet. What does that mean? Well, because what is that like? Atlas is a division of Index, and there's there was all this stuff about how they were in some kind of trouble. The end result is that for somewhere around one hundred and forty million dollars, give or take plus or minus. Yeah, uh Sega. Now owns Atlas. What is it? What does that get you? Is I guess my question, because what is what is Atlas publish? And what do they develop? Atlas develops the Persona games, the Shinmagami tense series. They also publish a bunch of the ship they published like Zeno Clash in the US, Like, they had some kind of stuff that that was not necessarily stuff you would normally associate with Atlas that they were doing. But yeah, they do do some publishing. They're publishing specialties, like bringing over weird stuff from other countries, right, I think they're publishing specialties, primarily publishing Atlas games. But yeah, they had they had kind of expanded into a few different things that that seemed a little out of the ordinary. But like Sega, they had been branching out from just bringing over Atlas games into doing stuff like Zena Clash. Well not much like Sega is now pretty much an RTS publisher, which is weird. There's a couple of other things I remember not too long ago seeing Atlas one that we like quick looked or something being like, well that's a weird one. Yeah, at the top of that, trying to think what it was. Yeah, there. Yeah, you're right, there were a couple. So it's already hard to know what it means for that end of their business, hard to know what it means for any end of their business. I mean, Sonic is going to be in my next Persona game, and I'm gonna fuck that. Fuck that Sonic. No, I know whose house I'm going to for Christmas? Fuck that Sonic. Sorry, Ta, he's got cool shoes. So they updated game Guard, which is the dumb ass anti cheat stuff in Fantasy Star Online, to support the preview version of Windows eight point one. But I have installed proper Windows eight point one and it does not support that. So I'm again in a spot where I cannot run Fantasy Star Online two at all, and that game's they've they've patched the ship out of it to make it English. So I don't care anymore. Don't bring it over. It's too late. You had you had you shot fucked it up, fucked it up. Would you even need to bring it over at this point? Could you just allow sign ups from America and then they already well then you have to fake Japanese addresses, right, Yeah, that's what I mean. Yeah, they could do that, and you know that be effectively. It's all you said, it's mostly English now, well, so all the English translations are all hacks, that's what you mean? Yeah, none of them are legitimate patches. So it's uh, you know, the fan community out there translating the stuff into English doing the job that Sega apparently does not want to do anymore, and good on them for doing it. Maybe maybe Atlas will do it. I mean, that's one of the things, is like the Atlas localization crew is top fucking notch, so you know, if anyone could do that, it's them. So maybe they just take Atlas and go like, all right, we're staffing up, like the the US team is now just localization. You know, we've got our own Well, actually, I don't know what they do. I was gonna say, it's like we've got our own marketing and pr Like I'm not sure who works at Sega anymore. So I don't know. We'll have to wait and see how it all shakes out. It doesn't exactly fill me with good feeling. But you know, is that kind of like like Larry Prost had been kind of acting interim interim uh, and he kind of goes back to his position on the board and it's EA, need like a shake up though to bring somebody in from outside of the company and it's gonna do hi pretty well for themselves. Yeah, But at the same time, if stay the course was the thing, then Ricatello wouldn't have been drummed out of there like a shareholder maybe, you know, support for Ricatello seemed like it was kind of low, so to Andrew Andrew Wilson. Andrew Wilson, this creates a potentially interesting political situation where you've got now you've got Frank Jabo, who's been there for a pretty long time and was pretty clearly just passed over. And you've got Peter Moore, who the talk was that he had kind of bowed out of some of these talks, who now reports to someone that used to report to him. So I don't know, I would not be surprised to see either or both of those guys leave in the relatively near future, because when you get passed over for the CEO job, that's what people like to do, say we'll fuck this and go do something else with their careers. So I don't know, we'll see he's a he's a young guy. He's like a thirty nine, late thirties somewhere around there, So you know, that's always weird. No, oh, even they forgot about it? Yeah. Shit. And lastly in news just to grab it up here, Yes, Diablo three three and me, Yeah, they're making another Diablo game. I heard it's all you know, sunshine and unicorns. It sounds like a bunch of bullshit to me. Uh No, they announced that they are going to be closing down the auction house in the PC version of the game. Uh the the auction house and the real money auction house, both auction houses. The auction house cutting it out in March of next year, and replacing it with what they're calling Lute two point zero, which which is a ridiculous term. It's a ridiculous term, but it is, you know, a new system for drop rates and stuff like that that lines up with the console version of the game, which does not have the auction house in it. Right, Good for them, Yeah, why would you call that lad two buino? Because the original loot system of the game was really pretty poor. You couldn't really find good stuff at max level. Was it called loot? Just like they just they just said, we're redesigning the loot system. You can call it loot two point zero. Yeah. I don't think anyone's in there the max. I'm sorry. I played every game to the max level. Stream I got gamer Grub. We're down in this stuff. I'm slamming Dues skysurfing with my nvidious shield. We're streaming fucking Steam games to this thing. I want to play Donkey Kong. I'm playing it. On upside was that it was my butt kicker, that's right coming to my living room. I got my joysticks and driving wheels set up to the extreme. But no, the loot system in that game at launch was not not great. I did not play that to a maximum level. I beat uh, I beat the end of that game. I finished the game twice. I played it and then new game plus don on whatever the higher difficulty that was. Didn't unlocker, No, no I did. Yeah, I played it through those two difficulties. Okay, then Hell and then there's whatever that was. Yeah, that's a normal nightfare of Hell Inferno. So I beat Nightmare and unlocked Hell and then start playing Hell, and I was like, what am I doing with my really hard. But Inferno, it's so so hard you really could not get very far unless you're willing to put a lot of time into the auction house. Because the good drops, like rare drops were better than unique legendary stuff. And in order to play at the maximum, at the highest level, well, you had the rare modifiers on rare items were so there were specific groupings that would be just objectively better than everything else, and you really had to have these these great items. They and there were such rare drops that you wouldn't be able to get them unless you want to the age. So yeah, so it you know, it ideally fixes that problem, which I just I don't know what percentage of players like that. Like, like I said, I played through that game twice and enjoyed it. Yeah, without without the loot stuff was most you know, I never really hit max level and you know, so I never got to the end game stuff. But like the idea of playing one character in that game and playing through that story, that amazing story that many times in a row just seems like a fool's errand but people have done it. But you know, totally people pay through hardcore and they get to you know, end of the game and they die and they e'll start over. Okay, like it's those games in gender or some odd behavior in terms of totally but people made Like the opening week, people are putting the stuff on the real money tuction, the maximum you can sell something before it was like two hundred and fifty bucks. Yeah, and immediately there was like, yeah, I need that. I'm gonna spend two hundred fifty bucks on. I tried putting some items up. I never made any money. Yeah, I think it was the the again, the outlier, like the point one percent of drops were the ones that were really good that people wanted. So I wonder what now, with the prospect of it closing, if people are like, get it now, man, two hundred and fifty bucks, you probably won't find this kind of shit once the auction house. It was what Brad was saying when we were talking about it, was that, you know, like they'll put out the expansion and that will probably nullify the value of every existing piece of loot. Yeah, and within the first hour well the expansion. Usually the patch for that stuff comes out before the expansion actually does, and it'll have that you you'll they'll wipe out the auction house from the regular game, but you will get Loo point two point el without having to buy the expansion. I yeah, yeah, I don't even think they have they put a date on the expansion. I imagine it's right around March. Okay, yeah, so it's probably you know, timed to this stuff. Yeah, it's it's gonna be I think the same day that the expansion comes out. That makes sense. Hopefully they'll have more of that playable at Bliss Conn or something like that, just the way it I would play a Diablo expansion. Sure, I always have. Yeah. Throw the Ball was totally what was it, Lord of Destruction? Lord of Destruction. Throw the Ball was made by people at my old company. I just work at Obsidians. Oh yeah, you make there. Uh. Anyways, Lord of Destruction. What was it like working with Sega as a publisher on It was really fun? Uh. We used to Our joke was that Atari was well we worked to Atari two and then opposed to Tari one. Yeah no, uh and then we we Uh. The joke was at Atari was Japanese for or Sega was Japanese for a Tari. This is a long time ago. Uh. Anyways, I don't even know how to describe these these things up. Yeah, maybe insulting some people, sure, but Lord of Destruction was a was a I don't know. I felt it to be a really amazing addition to the yellow too. Sometimes they put up these games and they need that time to I think going back to the auction out stuff, though, is just the willingness to roll that back is a great way of a great example of listening to customer feedback because nobody really, well, it took them a very long time to listen to shut feedback on that that seemed like people were against it right out of the gate for these reasons. They had issues where like you could get gems for free or something like. There were some there's always been there's been some issues stuff a couple of different things that I think I remember seeing players complaining that they didn't fix it appropriate, they just rolled it back, and that further damaged the economy. So I can't even imagine, though, being in the point of of like I get overwhelmed at time listening to customer feedback on Giant Bomb, because I have Twitter, I've got support keys, I've got you know, Facebook messages, I've got personal site messages and notifications and all this other stuff, and if you're Blizzard, multiply that by two or ten million or something like that. I don't know. It's it's colating on that feedback must be uh even the not even the process of listening to it, but the process of collating the feedback into usable data is just overwea i'd I'd be like, I wonder what number of things have to hit and get classified properly before they go like, all right, this, this might be a problem. We should probably put a human being on this. And Ghost Crawler, the guy who like one of the lead designers on Wow is always talking. I watched them on Twitter a little bit and he's he's always talking about just because it's complaint, we hear it a lot, doesn't mean it's valid complaint, like it's It's one of those things where you have certain portions of properis are screaming about something and then it might not be a problem at all. For right. Blizzard probably has that issue more than almost any other developer, I think, just because they when they have PC gamers who are already on their PC can just go to another monitor and email them about their complaints, which like call of duty takes a little work to find the call of duty. Getting those death threats about call of duty takes a little bit more effort. I don't know. It's it's it's it's good for I think this has been a year of surprising rollbacks of stuff based on consumer complaints. So it's hey, I'm happy to see it anytime. Sprinting games was kind of interesting. I was I was holding out hope that I would have it over one point a way for me to race on foot against cars, but that's so far that it's not materialized. But yeah, I like the ones where they go take it to this point instead of drive a card. At this point, you know where you can and take whatever you want. Yeah, for something like Infamous or Saints Row, or you could, yeah, take whatever car you want, or just or even like everybody at the buildings and go that way. Or you can imagine a mission in GTA where you start out in a room on foot, you run to a car we're not outside, pick a card some kind of track to the airport, and then parachute out onto a bridge. Yeah, i'd kind of cool. That's my weekend last weekend. Yeah. Apart from that, I mostly avoid him. I'm like driving missions in like open world driving games. I think a lot of those have been been bad as well. Like it was really novel when like Burnout, Paradise Sound Madness and that sort of stuff was coming out, but then like Midnight Club, like some of that stuff was on the dicey and and just the AI is never like in GT five like I just don't it's not why I'm there. It feels like a lot of times those races are basically pretty easy if you know what you're doing too, like Sleeping Dogs. I I did a few of those races. I never even came close to losing. It was this, Yeah, and Sleeping Dogs. I liked them because they were super short, just like whatever, I just you know, if I lose that, it's like one lap. It's not like GTA where some of them are like two, two or three laps or something. Yeah, I wouldn't know, Jeff, when you had to restart over and over. Yeah yeah. Yeah. But but most games I have gotten pretty good at, like hey, here's one or two in the story, and then after that, here's all the optional specters. Don't don't mess with that now, Like yeah. GT five had like you know it has uh like jet ski races and stuff. I was like, yeah, I just I just don't don't play Burnout Paradise if I really want to.
