<v Speaker 1>We are very hopefully live with the Non Tender Podcast. <v Speaker 1>Welcome on and everybody. I am joined by Bingle as always, <v Speaker 1>of course, but also on the phone. On the horn, <v Speaker 1>I have Josie. <v Speaker 2>Wall Hey, Josie, whoa. <v Speaker 1>She's here? Sorry about that? Do you get that a lot? <v Speaker 1>Sometimes it's a fun name. <v Speaker 2>John's like, yell it, thank you. I based it off <v Speaker 2>of Cody Co and then he got canceled Cody Co. <v Speaker 1>Josie wo oh no, even no rhyme. Actually love Cody <v Speaker 1>Car and man GT eighty five. How you gone, buddy? <v Speaker 3>Hello, I'm good. I just ate some ravioli and it <v Speaker 3>was very delicious. <v Speaker 1>I know you slammed a lean cuisine. <v Speaker 3>Yes. <v Speaker 1>Do you have a cut at lunch or is it <v Speaker 1>always just micro wavemels? <v Speaker 3>No, I don't know how to cook DoorDash right, Yeah, <v Speaker 3>a lot of door I get like one door dash <v Speaker 3>meal a day, and then I'll eat like crackers for dinner. <v Speaker 1>Right before we start, we are live, so I want <v Speaker 1>to throw it a chat and just ask everybody how <v Speaker 1>everything sounds and everything looks. I usually don't stream like this. <v Speaker 1>We're doing this remotely this week because of Donkey Kong, <v Speaker 1>because the Donkey Kong Madness, both Bingle and I. We <v Speaker 1>usually do it in person, but we're playing and streaming <v Speaker 1>so much of the game that it just made more <v Speaker 1>sense for us to do it remotely. But actually that's <v Speaker 1>fun because then in my brain I was like, well, <v Speaker 1>then we can get some people in the show that <v Speaker 1>typically can't come down because Sean refuses to travel, even <v Speaker 1>though we live about an hour apart. Okay, not an <v Speaker 1>hour three, it's three hours. It's a day trip. And uh, Josie, <v Speaker 1>who was all, I don't actually I don't know if <v Speaker 1>you are public where you are, I don't want to <v Speaker 1>out you. <v Speaker 2>Oh I am. It's fine. <v Speaker 1>I'm in California, all the way out, literally on the <v Speaker 1>other side of the country. So making it happen from <v Speaker 1>across the world, everyone says it's good. So we're gonna <v Speaker 1>keep going. I want to talk about Donkey Kong, but <v Speaker 1>off the rip. I want to let everyone listening and <v Speaker 1>watching know that there will be For the most part, <v Speaker 1>we will try to not do spoilers because I know <v Speaker 1>the game'sn't even out for a couple of days, which <v Speaker 1>is actually another reason why I didn't do the podcast <v Speaker 1>right away, because people are avoiding spoilers on this game, <v Speaker 1>like crazy. I don't know if you guys A Josie <v Speaker 1>and Agt well even Bengal, I don't know if you've <v Speaker 1>done any you did. You did a couple of streams. <v Speaker 1>Have you noticed viewership not as strong as you thought <v Speaker 1>on Donkey Kong Bonanza stuff. Josie's like nodding a little. <v Speaker 2>None of my mods are in my streams right now <v Speaker 2>and they're all playing, just swallowing it. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, I uh, what about you, Bingal. <v Speaker 4>It's like a weird place because I'll have people been like, oh, <v Speaker 4>it's Donkey Kong. They like, I don't you know, the <v Speaker 4>whole game is about playing it, not like the actual <v Speaker 4>game or the story. And then there's other people like <v Speaker 4>I don't want to be spoiled. Then they dip out, <v Speaker 4>So it's like a weird mixed bag. <v Speaker 1>Sean, how many videos have you made? Ten? No? <v Speaker 3>I made two on it talking about the metacritic and <v Speaker 3>then just my thoughts yesterday. But you know, I never <v Speaker 3>look at my views, so that's true. Just whatever whatever <v Speaker 3>happens happened. Well. <v Speaker 1>The reason why I'm saying that off the rip and <v Speaker 1>I'm mentioning that is because yeah, I've noticed people aren't <v Speaker 1>tuning in the Donkey Kong stuff as much as they <v Speaker 1>were Mario Cut stuff. And the biggest feedback I got <v Speaker 1>was just spoilers. People just don't want to have things spoils. <v Speaker 1>I had people from my life. I had, you know, <v Speaker 1>Charlie shown from AW Yeah. <v Speaker 3>Yeah. <v Speaker 1>He actually texted me and he was like, hope you're <v Speaker 1>enjoying Donkey Kong. I wanted to watch, but I didn't <v Speaker 1>want spoilers. And that's like the guy that works at <v Speaker 1>like AEW, he doesn't want spoilers, so. <v Speaker 3>He was just on TV. <v Speaker 1>He was on TV. I my first stream that I did, <v Speaker 1>my big first stream on the sixteenth, a day early, <v Speaker 1>did pretty well, not as big as Mario Cut. But <v Speaker 1>the next day it was like with views, just because <v Speaker 1>people I was further in the game at that point, <v Speaker 1>so we're not going to be talking about spoilers. It's <v Speaker 1>also going to be hard to show any gameplay too, <v Speaker 1>so we're just going to be using our words. So <v Speaker 1>don't worry, don't go any don't feel like you can't watch. <v Speaker 1>We're gonna do our best to keep it kosher for <v Speaker 1>you guys. And then now I've got that out the way, <v Speaker 1>I will do a a plug for the Game and <v Speaker 1>Talk podcast. Oh my god, my favorite Nintendo podcast. We <v Speaker 1>had Celia on a week or two ago. I don't <v Speaker 1>remember whenever too Many Games was which was the third <v Speaker 1>the third leg of your tripod that makes up the <v Speaker 1>Game and Talk and now you two Nate Nate. <v Speaker 3>Will be back one day maybe oh. <v Speaker 1>There is a fourth leg. <v Speaker 3>Yeah, Nate, Nate got mad at the chat. Long story, <v Speaker 3>we're not going to get into it, and he's got <v Speaker 3>some stuff going on. But I think he's coming back. <v Speaker 3>He'll probably be back for the next show because they'll <v Speaker 3>be direct stuff to talk about. Allegedly. <v Speaker 1>Hey, no, no disrespect to Nate. I didn't know he <v Speaker 1>was part of it. <v Speaker 2>He hasn't been on a year, so it's all good. <v Speaker 1>That's probably why I didn't know. Sorry, if that's a <v Speaker 1>sort of subject. Didn't he just didn't? He just do <v Speaker 1>on his podcast say that there's a direct coming this month. Yeah, okay, <v Speaker 1>all right, that's good. That's good for me. That's nice <v Speaker 1>for me. <v Speaker 3>All right. <v Speaker 1>Who who wants to take the lead here? Because another <v Speaker 1>reason why I wanted you guys on is because I <v Speaker 1>already did my first impressions video and even though I've <v Speaker 1>played a lot more of the game now, I thought <v Speaker 1>it would be good to get some more voices in. <v Speaker 1>I'm really curious to hear your guys's thoughts. I mean, Sean, well, <v Speaker 1>we'll start with Josie. I want your thoughts because you <v Speaker 1>are a younger gamer. You didn't grow up with a <v Speaker 1>lot of the platforms that we grew up with. And <v Speaker 1>then the dichotomy of that is Sean obviously grew up <v Speaker 1>before the time of video games. You know, he was <v Speaker 1>there for the start of Atari and all of those, <v Speaker 1>you know, Pong in the seventies, so he's seen where <v Speaker 1>games have come from and where they are now. So <v Speaker 1>I want I want that dichotomy. Josie, what do you <v Speaker 1>think of Donkey Kong. <v Speaker 2>I'm really loving it. I loved Like Odyssey, so it <v Speaker 2>feels very similar to that, which is nice. I recently <v Speaker 2>just like replayed all of the old Donkey Kong games. <v Speaker 1>I saw that videology. Yeah, that's cool. I love when <v Speaker 1>people do that. With that, I played every and for you, <v Speaker 1>it was I played every Donkey Kong. <v Speaker 2>Yeah it was fun. So like I was, I've been <v Speaker 2>really excited for a new Donkey Kong for a long <v Speaker 2>time because Tropical Freeze is like one of my favorite <v Speaker 2>games ever, so just anything new was really exciting. I <v Speaker 2>was kind of iffy about like a three D platformer, <v Speaker 2>I think for for the for DK since sixty four, <v Speaker 2>some people really love it. <v Speaker 1>I just personally, I think it's so bad. I'm sorry. <v Speaker 1>We talked about that Bengal last episode because it was it. <v Speaker 1>IGN did a did a ranking, I think it was <v Speaker 1>IGN of every Nintendo platform and they put Donkey Kong <v Speaker 1>sixty four at the bottom spot. It was the last one, <v Speaker 1>and we were like, obviously, obviously, And then we got <v Speaker 1>a lot of comments from people saying, can we show <v Speaker 1>you some respect to Donkey Kong sixty four? That was <v Speaker 1>my childhood. Oh it was so bad. <v Speaker 2>People get really mad at me when I say that. <v Speaker 3>Clarity, but childhood you should be like CPS should have <v Speaker 3>been knocking on your door. <v Speaker 1>Look, the honest, trash Quest sixty four was a large <v Speaker 1>part of my childhood. But I'm not out here defending <v Speaker 1>saying that it's a great game. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, I think I can realize that the game is <v Speaker 2>bad that you liked as a kid. I played this <v Speaker 2>care Beer game on the DS as a child, and <v Speaker 2>I love it and I can't even look at it now. <v Speaker 3>Yeah. <v Speaker 1>That Kim's like that with some games too. She has <v Speaker 1>one called Pets with a Z that she always talked about. <v Speaker 1>It's like one of my favorites. <v Speaker 2>Yes, yeah, I used to play that. <v Speaker 1>That was I'm like, I'm sure it was good because <v Speaker 1>it was good. It was good. <v Speaker 2>What's like that Horse game on the Switch? It kind <v Speaker 2>of feels like that. <v Speaker 1>Oh, there's so many and I've reviewed them all. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, I saw one of your videos. <v Speaker 1>Which one was it? Which one are you talking about? <v Speaker 1>There's so many. <v Speaker 2>Well, that's just like what the Pets games reminds me. <v Speaker 1>Oh yeah, basically. Yeah, it just feels like that. <v Speaker 2>Sean, I'm loving Donkey Kong. <v Speaker 1>Sean, what do you think of Donkey Kong? <v Speaker 3>I was pleasantly surprised, Like I knew I was going <v Speaker 3>to like it to some degree. Obviously, with the pedigree <v Speaker 3>of Donkey Kong sixty four, you can only go upwards <v Speaker 3>with this. But when the reviews came out, I was <v Speaker 3>kind of like, they seem a little high, you know, <v Speaker 3>is it? You know, all these people saying, oh, it's <v Speaker 3>one of the best three D platformers ever. I'm like, <v Speaker 3>maybe there's some recency bias with it. You know, you <v Speaker 3>got a new system, you're excited to have a new <v Speaker 3>game for the system. But once I actually started playing it, <v Speaker 3>I was just like, Wow, this is exceeding my expectations. Yeah, <v Speaker 3>I think it really for me, it comes down to <v Speaker 3>the exploration and just how rewarding it is because there's <v Speaker 3>always something to find, you know, no matter how deep <v Speaker 3>you want to go, how crazy you want to go, <v Speaker 3>there's always something defined. And I really like that about <v Speaker 3>the game. <v Speaker 1>It's extremely satisfying and something they did that I don't <v Speaker 1>I can't think of a comparison here for a Nintendo <v Speaker 1>game that I found I'll find really satisfying. What they <v Speaker 1>did was the RNG of smashing through things. Cause you <v Speaker 1>know all the chests that pop up as you're going through, <v Speaker 1>and then obvious the gems and everything. It's rang it's random, <v Speaker 1>like those chests aren't placed in certain places. It's just <v Speaker 1>when you're breaking the soil, there's a chance that a <v Speaker 1>chest will pomp. But the chest is so high really Yeah. <v Speaker 2>But the pants that like increase the chance of getting more. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, Like if you look, if you read the outfit choices, <v Speaker 1>they'll say, a better chance of chest popping when you're <v Speaker 1>searching through. That's what makes it so satisfying because it's <v Speaker 1>not like you can dig, dig and dig and not <v Speaker 1>find something. It's if you dig for more than a <v Speaker 1>couple of seconds, something's gonna rng. So it's just so <v Speaker 1>satisfying to keep going and looking, you know. <v Speaker 3>I I saw that, but I never put two and <v Speaker 3>two together because I never messed with it. I was <v Speaker 3>just like, Oh, let me get you know, whatever environment <v Speaker 3>biome yeah is going into. Let me get the pants <v Speaker 3>that that help in that. That's that's clever. Yeah, that's <v Speaker 3>clever as hell. Yeah. <v Speaker 1>There was a moment when I saw that and I <v Speaker 1>was like, I it kind of takes something away because <v Speaker 1>it's like, oh, I'm not finding these things. These things <v Speaker 1>aren't placed for me, and I'm stumbling on them and <v Speaker 1>I'm so good at finding them. It's they're popping up <v Speaker 1>because I'm digging. But at the same time, that's what's <v Speaker 1>making it so rewarding, because it's just it's constant. There's <v Speaker 1>no like, oh, I've missed them all and I can't <v Speaker 1>find anything, you know, But the bananas are the things <v Speaker 1>that are like locked in, you know, like you they <v Speaker 1>don't orange and banana, right, yeah, fossils too. Yeah, it's <v Speaker 1>just like all of the chest and then those little <v Speaker 1>token coins are all orange, bingal. I haven't asked you <v Speaker 1>because I probably because I know your answer, but I <v Speaker 1>want to hear it anyway. What do you think of <v Speaker 1>Donkey Kong? It's phenomenal. Yeah, it's really good, so freaking good. <v Speaker 4>I'm over here just like trying to do I don't know, <v Speaker 4>I keep getting sidetracked. The game is so perfectly sidetracking, <v Speaker 4>Like every now, everything you're doing is just like there's <v Speaker 4>some other like nook and cranny that you can find. <v Speaker 4>I mean there's like if I had to nip, there <v Speaker 4>is a nippick I got with the game, but it's <v Speaker 4>very small. <v Speaker 1>Go on the camera. <v Speaker 3>I hate the. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, we got motion stick the first day I played <v Speaker 1>it because the camera. <v Speaker 4>Like, I don't get why they don't allow you to <v Speaker 4>like lock onto DK when you want to and then <v Speaker 4>free look in without it following him all the time. <v Speaker 1>The camera's weird, especially when you're digging and you're like <v Speaker 1>really stuck somewhere and the camera just gets locked in <v Speaker 1>like a weird angle. Yeah, yeah, I know it's yeah, <v Speaker 1>it's so it's so odd. <v Speaker 4>And then everything else I don't know, Like I think <v Speaker 4>what people complained about, like frame dips and. <v Speaker 1>Stuff, but oh yeah, we have some of that in <v Speaker 1>the doc we can look at. <v Speaker 4>I mean, I'm I'm kind of all right with it <v Speaker 4>because like it's very minuscule. I'm not really running into them, <v Speaker 4>and I'm just having fun with the game in general, <v Speaker 4>Like I like how stupid fun it is at this point. <v Speaker 1>You know, let me pull up I'll pull up a <v Speaker 1>frame dip. I think this is from who this is from? Actually, <v Speaker 1>but here, let me try. This could break the entire stream. <v Speaker 1>I hope that it doesn't. Okay, that's not too bad. <v Speaker 1>It's reverse for you guys, but it won't be for them, <v Speaker 1>I don't think so. Yeah, I think this is from <v Speaker 1>Digital Foundering. I'm not sure. I actually did do this <v Speaker 1>fight last night, and it's definitely they They mentioned that <v Speaker 1>the frame on this on this mud thing is very low, <v Speaker 1>like you can see that the it's very choppy, especially <v Speaker 1>as he walks away, because it's like compensating, I guess, <v Speaker 1>and it does make it look really rough. But then <v Speaker 1>in general, when I did this fight last night. I <v Speaker 1>definitely did notice a lot of frame rate dips. I <v Speaker 1>don't want to show too much of this, but it's <v Speaker 1>not you can't really tell what's happening. <v Speaker 4>I remember this fight playing that the other day, and <v Speaker 4>it dips, it's down. <v Speaker 1>This whole fight is locked to thirty as well. So <v Speaker 1>they locked that whole fight to thirty specifically, and it <v Speaker 1>was still it was still dipping for me. <v Speaker 3>So they had to prioritize fun. <v Speaker 1>All right, So let's talk about that quickly. Do you <v Speaker 1>feel like the fun was prioritized? <v Speaker 4>How? <v Speaker 1>How is the frame rate issues for you guys? Do <v Speaker 1>they bother you at all? <v Speaker 3>You know, I haven't noticed them as much as I <v Speaker 3>thought I would because I kind of went into it <v Speaker 3>after reading that. I kind of went into it looking <v Speaker 3>for that because I wanted to see and yeah, it happens, <v Speaker 3>but I don't I don't think it's you know that <v Speaker 3>that fight in particular. Yes, sometimes when you zoom out <v Speaker 3>the camera and you see all the poppings start to happen, <v Speaker 3>it's kind of like, eh, but you know, overall, it's <v Speaker 3>it's not the worst thing in the world. I feel <v Speaker 3>like the pros outweigh of the cons but I that <v Speaker 3>kind of does make me think, you know, when the <v Speaker 3>game got so many tens. I understand a ten is <v Speaker 3>not indicative of a perfect game, but it's like, you know, <v Speaker 3>frame rate, A low frame rate game will have some <v Speaker 3>of the fun removed because frame rate is attached to gameplay, <v Speaker 3>and the gameplay is what you're looking for. So I <v Speaker 3>you know, you don't like to see things like that <v Speaker 3>so early in the system from a first party. Yeah, <v Speaker 3>that's hopefully this is more of an anomaly because there <v Speaker 3>is you know, so much going on and so much <v Speaker 3>a factor instead of a standard going forward. <v Speaker 4>Yeah, it seems like this game is pushing the switch <v Speaker 4>to to its limit in. <v Speaker 1>Such cases, which isn't a great as Seolan was saying, <v Speaker 1>isn't a great sign when it's like a month in Well, <v Speaker 1>I think it might. <v Speaker 3>Have to do with the destructible elements, because you have <v Speaker 3>to factor. <v Speaker 1>That's a big part of it. <v Speaker 3>Everything can be destroyed. And when you look at games, <v Speaker 3>because really, when it comes to like destructibility in a <v Speaker 3>in a game similar to this, I mean, you know, <v Speaker 3>what would you say, like Red Faction Mercenaries, incredible whole game. <v Speaker 3>I mean all of the destruction in those games you <v Speaker 3>can't do as much as you can. <v Speaker 1>In this game, So that there's there's a reason why <v Speaker 1>a lot of games don't have like big destructible environments, <v Speaker 1>and when you do see it, it's why it's usually <v Speaker 1>like a pretty big deal. Like I remember Bingal what <v Speaker 1>was that shoot a game recently we tried playing that <v Speaker 1>was kind of like Valerie and it was like a <v Speaker 1>cash cash grab kind of like you had to actually <v Speaker 1>grab cash. But the whole like niche of the game <v Speaker 1>was that the the environments were fully destructible, and like <v Speaker 1>that was like the niche of the game. I don't <v Speaker 1>remember what it was called, it doesn't matter. <v Speaker 4>I uninstalled it, so it wasn't good. <v Speaker 1>It wasn't a good game. But my point is the <v Speaker 1>the hook to that game was that it was destructible environments, <v Speaker 1>because you don't usually get that. And the reason why <v Speaker 1>you don't usually get that on that kind of scale <v Speaker 1>is because it's it's a it's a hardware sync. It <v Speaker 1>like sucks so much power and performance out of out <v Speaker 1>of a game or a console. So yeah, so Sean's point, <v Speaker 1>that's definitely what's tanking the frame rates in Donkey Kong. <v Speaker 1>Like I think Nintendo could definitely push like a Zelda <v Speaker 1>game with even better like graphical you know, visuals and stuff. <v Speaker 1>As long as all the environments on't destructible, they'd be <v Speaker 1>able to do more in like another way. <v Speaker 4>But I feel like we would help with the with <v Speaker 4>the frame rate. DIPS would be variable refresh rate, and <v Speaker 4>it's just not enabled on the console. <v Speaker 1>It would really help. <v Speaker 3>The implementation of HDR one hundred and twenty hertz and <v Speaker 3>VRR has been suspect. <v Speaker 1>At best, it works. <v Speaker 4>They they proved that the doc can do it, but <v Speaker 4>not the switch itself. <v Speaker 3>But like the thing of it is is that like <v Speaker 3>there's there's still games on the system that will misrecognize. <v Speaker 3>I got into a whole thing with Street Fighter six <v Speaker 3>because when I would play it on my on both <v Speaker 3>monitor on a lgc x TV that I have upstairs <v Speaker 3>in a brand new four K HDR one hundred and <v Speaker 3>twenty HURTS monitor that I bought after I got the <v Speaker 3>switch too, I noticed the game just didn't look right <v Speaker 3>and I couldn't figure out what was happening. So I'm <v Speaker 3>I'm like running all these tests, I'm trying, I'm having <v Speaker 3>other people try the game that I could talk to <v Speaker 3>at the time of the launch, what I ended up <v Speaker 3>finding out was this in the system settings, by default, <v Speaker 3>your one hundred and twenty Hurtz mode is automatically turned on. <v Speaker 3>So with most games, like a Mario Kart World that <v Speaker 3>doesn't have one hundred and twenty hurts doesn't do anything. <v Speaker 3>The game just runs at how it's supposed to run. <v Speaker 3>For some reason, with Street Fighter six, it will force <v Speaker 3>it to a lower resolution at one hundred and twenty hurts. <v Speaker 3>So if you turn that off, then the game looks <v Speaker 3>how it's intended to do. And I thought to myself, <v Speaker 3>well why is that? And then I got to thinking more. <v Speaker 3>Street Fighter six on other platforms has a performance and <v Speaker 3>a quality mode, to where performance mode will give you <v Speaker 3>one hundred and twenty hurts, Quality mode will give you <v Speaker 3>six hurts, and it does the same sort of thing. <v Speaker 3>It diminishes the graphics. So it's just like, it's very <v Speaker 3>weird how the system is handling these things, and I <v Speaker 3>would like to see something more uniform, like across the board. <v Speaker 3>It almost feels like, I guess my big problem with <v Speaker 3>it is you hyped these things up. You talk, We <v Speaker 3>didn't expect you to be like four K one hundred <v Speaker 3>and twenty herds HDR support variable refresh. Rely. We didn't <v Speaker 3>expect you to actually say that these things were in there. <v Speaker 3>We figured we find them out on our own. So <v Speaker 3>it's kind of like, well, you need to kind of, <v Speaker 3>you know, get it together before some of these other <v Speaker 3>games start coming out. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, especially in their own games. <v Speaker 4>Yeah, like metroy Prime, they advertised that at one twenty <v Speaker 4>ten ADP. <v Speaker 1>Well that that that will be that otherwise that will <v Speaker 1>be a disaster. I'll be your pill. That would be <v Speaker 1>a disaster online. <v Speaker 2>I think the pillar of their marketing. I think they <v Speaker 2>have to. <v Speaker 1>For that one one hundred percent. Yeah. Uh. For me personally, <v Speaker 1>I didn't talk about frame rate too much in my <v Speaker 1>first impressions, but they really haven't bothered me in this game. <v Speaker 1>There's been certain moments where I've really noticed them, like <v Speaker 1>maybe like three or four times in like my fifteen <v Speaker 1>hours of playing where I was like, oh, the frames <v Speaker 1>are tanking right now, but always just in like really <v Speaker 1>chaotic moments or when things are like like a lot <v Speaker 1>of effects are really kicking up on the screen, and <v Speaker 1>never in a moment that felt like it was detrimental <v Speaker 1>to my gameplay. Like one big moment was one of <v Speaker 1>the gold rooms, Like you know, you can walk into <v Speaker 1>those gold rooms and you're just smashing all this stuff. <v Speaker 1>It was like really tanking the frame rate in that <v Speaker 1>room because of all the effects. But at the same time, <v Speaker 1>I kind of liked the effects, you know, so it's <v Speaker 1>not really bothering me at the base gameplay, I don't think. <v Speaker 3>Somebody in the chat did bring up a good point, <v Speaker 3>but the answer is using FSR one upscaling instead of DLSS, <v Speaker 3>which is really weird because I feel like if it <v Speaker 3>used DLSS, it probably wouldn't There's a good chance in <v Speaker 3>some of those frame rates issues could have been ironed <v Speaker 3>out because FSR one was what they I mean, I'm <v Speaker 3>sure we'll talk about this because I saw one of <v Speaker 3>the graphics you had of but f SR one with <v Speaker 3>stuff that they used on the Switch one for games <v Speaker 3>like Switch Sports, whatever the heck it was called or whatever, <v Speaker 3>and it was a way to make games look sharper. <v Speaker 3>But I guess because Bonanza evidently started life as a <v Speaker 3>different platform game, Yeah, they never did anything with it, <v Speaker 3>so like, it's very strange. <v Speaker 1>We can we can show that for sure. I don't. <v Speaker 1>I never questioned Nintendo's game development because I don't I <v Speaker 1>don't know if they really know what they're doing a <v Speaker 1>hump send the time when it comes to developing games <v Speaker 1>for like latest hardware, Like they've always been so far <v Speaker 1>behind with even like HD. I remember it took them <v Speaker 1>so long to make a HD game. We you, Yeah, <v Speaker 1>I know it took so long. So yeah, I don't know. <v Speaker 1>I'm not sure if they know what they're doing. But <v Speaker 1>that's a good point, is that it started as a <v Speaker 1>Switch one game, So let me try and show this here. <v Speaker 1>So I don't know why they showed this, because this <v Speaker 1>just upset people more than anything, But apparently the Donkey <v Speaker 1>Kong Bonanza game started as they switched one game and <v Speaker 1>then eventually obviously grew too big and became a switch <v Speaker 1>to game. And then they showed a comparison here for <v Speaker 1>what it would have looked like on Switch one and <v Speaker 1>switched to. Now there is an obvious insane upgrade here <v Speaker 1>in my opinion, like just obviously I want to play <v Speaker 1>this version. This plesion looks really nice, and then this <v Speaker 1>one looks like a lot of the the cheap budget <v Speaker 1>Switch one ports that we got. But all this did <v Speaker 1>I saw online was make people say, oh, so I <v Speaker 1>could have just had this on switch one without having <v Speaker 1>to buy a switch to like, where's my switch one version? <v Speaker 1>I saw a lot of that online, But I mean. <v Speaker 3>What do you look at the differences, like you could <v Speaker 3>see the lighting effects more. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, I know, but some people don't care. Some people <v Speaker 1>just don't care, and they just they don't want to <v Speaker 1>spend five hundred dollars on the new thing, and they're like, oh, <v Speaker 1>why do I will play this version and say five <v Speaker 1>hundred dollars, No, you won't. <v Speaker 4>Not people would complain about it too, that they'll switch <v Speaker 4>one version. <v Speaker 1>If it didn't actually. <v Speaker 2>The frame rate, it would have been way worse on. <v Speaker 3>The I think the target was thirty for the switch <v Speaker 3>one version. <v Speaker 1>I believe it would have to be. <v Speaker 2>It would have, say how long it's been in development. <v Speaker 3>I mean, looking at that, I don't know if you <v Speaker 3>said that, that's pretty decently along, Like we're not talking <v Speaker 3>wireframe and stuff here now. It could have just been <v Speaker 3>a small segment that they kind of carved out. <v Speaker 1>But I find it interesting to see how the HUD <v Speaker 1>changed over time too. <v Speaker 3>Yeah, I think I think the HUD looks better. Yeah, <v Speaker 3>I think you don't have anything in the bottom portion <v Speaker 3>of it, so on the Switch one version. <v Speaker 1>I mean, this is probably just placeholder stuff, but right <v Speaker 1>although I kind of like the hearts more in the <v Speaker 1>Switch one version. The angle, Yeah, the angle and they <v Speaker 1>I don't know if it's coming through a discord, but <v Speaker 1>there's a better of it. There's a three D shadowing <v Speaker 1>to it. Yeah, there's a little bit to it. Okay, <v Speaker 1>Well that's that, unless anyone has any more thoughts. There's <v Speaker 1>a question I wanted to ask you, guys. Josie, you <v Speaker 1>mentioned earlier that you played Odyssey. Odyssey is one of <v Speaker 1>your favorite games, you said, so a question I keep <v Speaker 1>getting asked while I'm streaming, and I want to throw <v Speaker 1>it to you, guys. Is Mario Odyssey or Donkey Kong <v Speaker 1>Finanzo which is better? The silence that has a goal <v Speaker 1>and the discord goal. <v Speaker 3>I mean, when you think about it kind of goes <v Speaker 3>back to you know, this game allegedly being one of <v Speaker 3>the best three D platformers, and you have to look <v Speaker 3>at some of the standouts both throughout history and the <v Speaker 3>current you know, the current time frame. I mean, I <v Speaker 3>think most of us would say best three D platformers <v Speaker 3>of recent memory are probably Odyssey and uh Strobot. The <v Speaker 3>the thing with Donkey Kong is you know, you could <v Speaker 3>compare Odyssey and Astrobot a lot easier than you could <v Speaker 3>compare Astrobot to Donkey Kong, or even Odyssey to Donkey Ko. <v Speaker 1>I agree with that. <v Speaker 3>Donkey Kong is more of about, you know, smashing and <v Speaker 3>going up and going down and going left and going right. <v Speaker 3>It's not necessarily contingent on I need to make this <v Speaker 3>really hard jump and I need to time this right, <v Speaker 3>whereas those two games are. So is it better than Odyssey? <v Speaker 3>I mean, you know, Odyssey came out in twenty seventeen. <v Speaker 3>It's my favorite Nintendo Switch one game. I actually had <v Speaker 3>to rebuy the damn thing because my cartridge is in <v Speaker 3>a case somewhere and I want it, and I have <v Speaker 3>no idea where that case is, and I wanted to <v Speaker 3>check out the visual upgrades. I don't think it's a <v Speaker 3>it's a question that can necessarily be answered right now, <v Speaker 3>because I'm very interested to see a year from now. Yeah, <v Speaker 3>the conversation is around Donkey Kong Bonanza. I think they're <v Speaker 3>both great. I think if somebody were to say to me, <v Speaker 3>I like Donkey Kong Bonanza more than Super Mario Odyssey, <v Speaker 3>I'd be like, Okay, you know, I don't think I <v Speaker 3>would necessarily disagree with them or anything like that. It <v Speaker 3>just comes down to what you kind of focus on <v Speaker 3>in your gameplay experience and your three D platformer. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, I agree with that sentiment. I was gonna say <v Speaker 1>the same thing. You took the words out of my mouth. <v Speaker 1>Like people kept saying which do you prefer? And I <v Speaker 1>kept thinking about it, and I'm like that kind of <v Speaker 1>really different, Like Odyssey is like such a traditional penultimate <v Speaker 1>three D platform and like platform like, really you are platforming? <v Speaker 1>Donkey Kong is barely a platformer like it is in <v Speaker 1>the sense of, like if you have to put it <v Speaker 1>in a category of like games history, Yeah, it's a <v Speaker 1>three D platformer, of course, But I don't really ever <v Speaker 1>feel like I'm platforming in the traditional sense. I feel <v Speaker 1>like I'm carving through a world almost like I would <v Speaker 1>in Minecraft, you know, like in that sense, is Minecraft <v Speaker 1>a three D platformer? Kind of? <v Speaker 3>I mean, I think the biggest thing is the first <v Speaker 3>time I came across like a three laser area where <v Speaker 3>it was like I have to get past this two <v Speaker 3>laser area. I'm looking at it and I'm like, all right, well, <v Speaker 3>I can't jump over this. I was like, okay, maybe <v Speaker 3>I take a piece of the ground and use it <v Speaker 3>as a shield. No, that didn't work. Okay, maybe I <v Speaker 3>take a piece of the ground and I throw it. Okay, No, <v Speaker 3>that didn't work. And the answer is you go around it, <v Speaker 3>you dig under the ground. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, I remember that one. I just dug under you know. Okay, <v Speaker 1>there's been a couple of like a couple of platforming moments. <v Speaker 1>I remember there was one challenge room where you have <v Speaker 1>to spin on a rock and glide down the Actually, <v Speaker 1>I can show you it because I have a clip <v Speaker 1>from it. If you if you will, human me here <v Speaker 1>for a second. I'm not sure if you guys will <v Speaker 1>be able to hear this. Oh no, I'm not hold on, <v Speaker 1>I'm not sure if the sound's coming through. We need <v Speaker 1>the sound to come through for this. It's very important, <v Speaker 1>so funny, it's very important to have sound. Let me <v Speaker 1>see if I do this. I don't know if you <v Speaker 1>guys will be able to hear it, but I'll give <v Speaker 1>it a shot. <v Speaker 3>I don't understand. <v Speaker 1>What's going on. Thanks for explaining nothing. Okay, here we go. <v Speaker 3>What happened? <v Speaker 1>Sure? <v Speaker 3>I thought you could term serve on the thorn. <v Speaker 1>I guess not. <v Speaker 3>What happened. <v Speaker 1>What happened. I don't understand what's going on. It's breaking <v Speaker 1>instantly that that was actually the moment I was thinking <v Speaker 1>of for the three D platform. That's our friend, friend <v Speaker 1>of the show, dsp there, who we recently showed his <v Speaker 1>Mario Cup performance the channel. Why is this guy so <v Speaker 1>bad at games? Sean? <v Speaker 3>I don't know, And it's never It's never his fault. <v Speaker 3>It's it's always no. <v Speaker 1>It's never his fault. <v Speaker 3>I have a weird thing where I can't help but <v Speaker 3>watch him sometimes. You know the game blue Prints, Yeah, okay, <v Speaker 3>he was playing blue Prints and he was stuck on <v Speaker 3>a puzzle and somebody in the chat was telling him <v Speaker 3>how to solve the puzzle, and he was telling this <v Speaker 3>person they were wrong, it's not how you do it, <v Speaker 3>just going back and forth for like ten minutes, and <v Speaker 3>he was doing what the gentleman or the individual was <v Speaker 3>saying incorrectly, and the guy was like, no, you gotta <v Speaker 3>do it, gotta do it like this, you gotta do <v Speaker 3>it like this. And then finally he did it the <v Speaker 3>way he was saying. He didn't even say thank you, <v Speaker 3>he was just like, oh, well, there you go, oh <v Speaker 3>my god, dude, we showed get money. <v Speaker 1>Though after Mariocott came out of him, there's like a <v Speaker 1>jump where like you go across the course, you don't <v Speaker 1>actually take the course, you kind of skip apart. I <v Speaker 1>don't know if you saw this clip, and he tried <v Speaker 1>to get back on the course and go the other way, <v Speaker 1>which was so obviously not what you were supposed to do. <v Speaker 1>And then it was yelling at him that he was <v Speaker 1>going the wrong way, and he's like, why the game <v Speaker 1>put me the wrong way? That's not good. <v Speaker 3>It's not good. What is this game doing. I don't understand. <v Speaker 3>Where is the kick support. We need to get some <v Speaker 3>subs over on kick. We need to get some super <v Speaker 3>chats going. You know that there'sn't been any superstickers or <v Speaker 3>anything like that. Let's get some support going. <v Speaker 1>Oh my god, get him on the pod. <v Speaker 3>This to him. <v Speaker 1>I don't want him on. I don't want him on here. <v Speaker 1>You can have you can have him. <v Speaker 3>I would love to talk to him. <v Speaker 1>You can take him anyway. That was the moment I <v Speaker 1>was thinking of for platforming. So there are some moments <v Speaker 1>where it's like, oh, this is a more traditional platforming <v Speaker 1>type thing, but Yeah, for the most part, it doesn't <v Speaker 1>feel the same is Odyssey, and it's so hot to <v Speaker 1>compare them. But Josie, I do want to know what <v Speaker 1>you think. <v Speaker 2>I agree with a lot of what you guys said. <v Speaker 2>I think like the bones of the game, though, does <v Speaker 2>feel Odyssey adjacent because it's just like the bananas are <v Speaker 2>pretty obviously a similar thing to like, uh, the the movies. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, stars, Yeah. <v Speaker 2>So like that collectithon aspect of it, I see a <v Speaker 2>lot of Odyssey, But yeah, I completely agree. It's like, <v Speaker 2>I don't know how you would compare these because they're <v Speaker 2>so so different. I personally am more of a Donkey <v Speaker 2>Kong person, so I think I like this one more. <v Speaker 1>But well, you just played them all. Is it the <v Speaker 1>best Donkey Kong ooh wool? <v Speaker 2>I don't know. I really like Tropical Freezing. <v Speaker 3>Would say that one. <v Speaker 1>I was hoping you'd say that one at least. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, I like Tropical I also played like, like Donkey <v Speaker 2>Kung three was randomly really good on the weird one <v Speaker 2>on the s S. Yeah, people don't like that game, <v Speaker 2>but it was like kind of fun. <v Speaker 3>I think Donkey Kong ninety four, the game Boy game <v Speaker 3>that it starts out like. <v Speaker 2>The yeah like pretends that it's Yeah, I love that. <v Speaker 2>That's a really good one. <v Speaker 1>I love Tropical Freeze. It's really the only two D <v Speaker 1>Donkey Kong that I really like, and I think Bonanza <v Speaker 1>is I prefer three D platforms, so I think Bonanza <v Speaker 1>is definitely taking the cake there. But I can see <v Speaker 1>an argument for Tropical Freeze because it was very, very good. <v Speaker 2>Also like the difficulty, Like I don't know if it <v Speaker 2>gets harder down the line, but I really like that <v Speaker 2>aspect of Donkey Kong, and I don't really think they're <v Speaker 2>hitting on it super. <v Speaker 1>That is actually a complaint I've had. This game is <v Speaker 1>stupid easy, like yeah, like the boss fights, you can <v Speaker 1>two punch them as the big gorilla. You get in <v Speaker 1>those challenge rooms and it's like, okay, you have forty <v Speaker 1>five seconds to kill these three things. Are you're already done? <v Speaker 3>Okay? <v Speaker 2>Yeah? <v Speaker 1>Yeah, I feel like I was saying this on stream, <v Speaker 1>those rooms really need like two bananas, Like, hey, is <v Speaker 1>forty five seconds. If you can kill these three things, <v Speaker 1>If you can do it in five seconds, we'll give <v Speaker 1>you a second. One kind of thing. Yeah, you know, there. <v Speaker 2>Was one where you like like have to destroy a <v Speaker 2>whole building and that was pretty. <v Speaker 1>That was a really fun one. Yeah, I like that <v Speaker 1>one that was that was a tight race and again <v Speaker 1>yeah you had to do it with a certain amount <v Speaker 1>of time left to get the second banana. Yeah, but yeah, <v Speaker 1>most of the Yeah, the combat ones are stupid. The <v Speaker 1>one that DSP was doing just there that I actually <v Speaker 1>had a lot of trouble with that one, not for <v Speaker 1>the same reason he did. You know, I knew what <v Speaker 1>I was supposed to do. I just couldn't do it <v Speaker 1>in the in the fast time because it was so hard. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, I kept grabbing the things off the like the <v Speaker 2>bottom and not realizing that you're supposed to use the enemies. <v Speaker 1>Yeah. <v Speaker 2>I don't know it's DSP to be real, but I honestly. <v Speaker 1>I think I got I got lucky with that. I <v Speaker 1>just happened to grab that first. Otherwise I probably would <v Speaker 1>have had the same issue bingal Bonanza. <v Speaker 4>I can't I haven't beat Bonanza yet, so I can't <v Speaker 4>really say no. <v Speaker 1>I haven't beat it yet either. <v Speaker 4>But like to be fair, I wasn't always like the <v Speaker 4>biggest Donkey Kong thing. The last Donkey Kong game that <v Speaker 4>I genuinely beat and played was Country and then before <v Speaker 4>that was and then I touched Donkey Kong sixty four <v Speaker 4>briefly because my chat wanted me to do it, and <v Speaker 4>I almost punched my computer screen. <v Speaker 1>Oh wow, that bad? Huh yeah, uh yeah, I don't <v Speaker 1>think I could really compare them. Actually, what one thing <v Speaker 1>I before we get away from the frame rate conversation, <v Speaker 1>which we did, which was my fault, I was gonna <v Speaker 1>mention I was trying to find OJ's tweet. He made <v Speaker 1>a good point because people were saying, why does Nintendo <v Speaker 1>get a pass when the frame rates are low? Well, <v Speaker 1>the answer is because the game's are fun. But he <v Speaker 1>made a good point that elden Ring got a pass <v Speaker 1>and that had loads of frame rate issues and that <v Speaker 1>got ten out of ten, you know, that one game <v Speaker 1>of the year. So it's not just Nintendo. If a <v Speaker 1>game is legitimately fun enough, game is like great, but <v Speaker 1>suffers from some performance issues here or there, people will <v Speaker 1>forgive it as long as if performance issues aren't. Like <v Speaker 1>Scotland and Violet Level. <v Speaker 4>From Soft, they're great game designers, but they are terrible <v Speaker 4>uh technical developers. I guess I don't know what the <v Speaker 4>word is, but they they make spaghetti code absolute spaghetti <v Speaker 4>code like. <v Speaker 1>Even on like the top of the line PCs. <v Speaker 4>That thing was stuttering like a all over the place. <v Speaker 3>It makes you wonder how that game they're doing for <v Speaker 3>the switch to is gonna turn out. <v Speaker 1>I'm really curious about that. I also, I'm a little <v Speaker 1>less excited for it now because I did not like <v Speaker 1>Night Rain. I didn't like the a lot of people <v Speaker 1>the online element to it. And this this dust Bloods <v Speaker 1>thing is online or something pv p v P PvE, <v Speaker 1>I don't know with Nintendo servers. That's another fantastic it's <v Speaker 1>going to go. Yeah, I'm a little I'm a little <v Speaker 1>less excited for it now. I wish I really wish <v Speaker 1>it was a brand new single player Elden sorry, Dark <v Speaker 1>Soul's type Bloodborne type game from them. I think that <v Speaker 1>would go so much harder. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, it's really strange that that was what they thought <v Speaker 2>would appeal to the like Nintendo audience. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, I think I agree that is it's strange. But <v Speaker 1>there's like so few one lane games. I mean, maybe <v Speaker 1>that's what they were thinking, so few one lane games. <v Speaker 1>Let's give them one Splatoon and then ours. But yeah, <v Speaker 1>it's not really what I was hoping for. All right, then, <v Speaker 1>So if we've got all those topics out of the way, <v Speaker 1>I guess we should get to the main one. Is <v Speaker 1>it Game of the Year. I know it's early ish, <v Speaker 1>I mean we're over halfway, but we are about halfway <v Speaker 1>through the year from what we've had so far, and <v Speaker 1>then kind of expectations on what we have left that <v Speaker 1>we know about. Could Donkey Kong Bonanza win Game of <v Speaker 1>the Year. I keep throwing to everybody else, I'll throw <v Speaker 1>to myself first this time, just to say that I <v Speaker 1>adored Expedition thirty three. They might be controversial because a <v Speaker 1>lot of people seem to think think it's some weird <v Speaker 1>industry plant I've seen online. I'm not sure why people <v Speaker 1>say that, but I thought that game was phenomenal. I <v Speaker 1>think it's one of, if not the greatest JRPGs, RPGs, <v Speaker 1>whatever you want to call it. I've ever played it <v Speaker 1>hit everything from music to story to gameplay, literally everything <v Speaker 1>I think was a ten out of ten, and it <v Speaker 1>did everything in its genre better than any other game <v Speaker 1>has done in its genre. I whereas I could still <v Speaker 1>sit here and be like, is Honesty better than Bonanza? <v Speaker 1>I don't know. I don't think there's anything that compares <v Speaker 1>with Exivision thirty three in that way. That is my <v Speaker 1>current game of the year, and I think that does <v Speaker 1>win over Bonanza for me personally. But who wants to <v Speaker 1>go first? <v Speaker 3>Yes, I can. You know, when you look at the competition, <v Speaker 3>you got what Expedition thirty three. Death Stranding two is <v Speaker 3>a highly acclaimed game. I definitely think, you know, when <v Speaker 3>you look at this, you know Yo Tai will probably <v Speaker 3>be there as well. But it's definitely very open ended <v Speaker 3>the second half of the year, like there's not a <v Speaker 3>ton of stuff that is at least dated that you <v Speaker 3>would be like, oh, well, this is gonna be, you know, <v Speaker 3>in contention. I think it'll be in contention. Do I <v Speaker 3>think it'll win. I don't know. That's kind of tough, <v Speaker 3>like two three D. I assume we're talking about the <v Speaker 3>Killie Awards, right, Yeah, Okay, Astrobot won last year. You <v Speaker 3>can make a case that Donkey Kong is better than Astrobot, <v Speaker 3>even though it's kind of different. But I also feel <v Speaker 3>like there are more games to sort of challenge than <v Speaker 3>there were last year, So I think I think it'd <v Speaker 3>be nominated. <v Speaker 1>If I was to guess the current because there's usually six, <v Speaker 1>right went Dark, Sorry, you take a second, and there's <v Speaker 1>usually six games nominated, right, so, right now, I think <v Speaker 1>it would be between Donkey Kong, Bonanza, Claire Obscure, des <v Speaker 1>Stranding two, Split Fiction, Monster Hunter Wilds, and then that <v Speaker 1>leaves Monster Hunter wild. I think, no, you don't think <v Speaker 1>maybe out of what's here right out of what we <v Speaker 1>have right now, I'm saying because I think for a sixth, <v Speaker 1>maybe Elden Ring Night Rain. <v Speaker 3>I don't know if that you got to throw in <v Speaker 3>the indie game too, there's always one indie. <v Speaker 1>Well, I don't know what that would be right now. <v Speaker 2>It could be Nina. <v Speaker 3>Okay, you're trying to butter up Celia. <v Speaker 1>Celia, it could be it would be let's just say, yes, <v Speaker 1>Nina's in there. It's definitely not Doom. I feel like <v Speaker 1>that was a flash in the pan. I didn't really <v Speaker 1>even like it. I didn't really like it either. Yeah, <v Speaker 1>I think that's our six I think those the things <v Speaker 1>I said and Nina out of what's out right now <v Speaker 1>is what I'm saying. I don't know what else is <v Speaker 1>coming out that they add Deltera into it. Wait, what <v Speaker 1>about what about Mariocott World is that in the running, No. <v Speaker 2>Way, No, it'll probably win. <v Speaker 1>Like the family game, it'll absolutely win Family game. <v Speaker 3>You are on a racing game. You are so right <v Speaker 3>racing sports game, noting. <v Speaker 1>It'll win that it will probably win both of those. <v Speaker 2>I agree, you know that you were like it takes <v Speaker 2>two to one like that. This feels very similar, like <v Speaker 2>it was like between Metroid and it takes two. So <v Speaker 2>I feel like it'll just like be much smaller games <v Speaker 2>this year. I don't know, and like maybe this thirty three. <v Speaker 1>I mean we got I don't know about smaller because <v Speaker 1>we do have Desk Stranding, and we do have that's true. <v Speaker 1>We have Claire Obscure. <v Speaker 2>He loves Kojima. <v Speaker 1>He does love Kojima. I mean, I wouldn't even honestly, <v Speaker 1>I wouldn't even put desk Stranding out of the running <v Speaker 1>just because of how much he loves Kojima. But it <v Speaker 1>is really it is a cool game. I mean I do. <v Speaker 1>Out of everything I said, I think Claire Obscure is <v Speaker 1>currently clearing Donkey Kong would be my close second. If <v Speaker 1>I was to guess the votes as they came in. <v Speaker 1>What do you think, Josie? Did you say? <v Speaker 2>Uh? No, I think I haven't really played too many <v Speaker 2>other games other than split fiction in Donkey Kong, So <v Speaker 2>for me, Donkey Kong is like my personal game of <v Speaker 2>the year, I think, unless Metroid is like insane. But <v Speaker 2>it also doesn't feel like the type of game that <v Speaker 2>just like wins a gody Like I feel like there's <v Speaker 2>a there's sort of an archetype to them most of <v Speaker 2>the time, so like Expedition thirty three feels like it <v Speaker 2>fits that pretty well. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, I think I need to look at the category breakdown. <v Speaker 1>I think Donkey Kong Bonanza would win like best Action <v Speaker 1>Game or something. I'm trying to think what the categories were, <v Speaker 1>but yeah, I think. <v Speaker 2>Do you have like a platformer category? <v Speaker 1>I don't think so let me see, bingo, what do <v Speaker 1>you think while I look this up? What do I <v Speaker 1>think is gonna win Game of the Year? Yeah? Or <v Speaker 1>my personal both? Uh? <v Speaker 4>My personal game of the year? Yes, Expedition thirty three. Uh, <v Speaker 4>so far. <v Speaker 1>What I think might win Game of the Year. I <v Speaker 1>think Donkey Kong's gonna win it, really, I think. I mean, <v Speaker 1>I think there's a chance for sure, but I think <v Speaker 1>Donkey Kong is gonna win. This is the category. Josie <v Speaker 1>Best Action slash adventure game. I think that's Donkey Kong. <v Speaker 1>Oh yeah, I think Donkey Kong is gonna grab that one. <v Speaker 1>And then I right now and I don't see what's <v Speaker 1>gonna beat it. I think Game of the Year goes <v Speaker 1>to Exhibition thirty three. Nintendo could sweep a lot of <v Speaker 1>these other categories, though, like is there is there a <v Speaker 1>best shooter game or like FPS game, trying to think <v Speaker 1>where Metroy could win. We have not really an FPS though. <v Speaker 3>For category's first person adventure. <v Speaker 1>That Nintendo could possibly win for we have Game of <v Speaker 1>the Year, Best Action Adventure, Best RPG, which that will <v Speaker 1>definitely be Claire Obscure. Even if they don't win Game <v Speaker 1>of the Year, that's what they're gonna win. Best Family Game, obviously, <v Speaker 1>Best Sports Racing. As we said, Mario Coott probably Best <v Speaker 1>Multiplayer could also probably be maybe Mario Coott, but that <v Speaker 1>usually goes to like what's that that kind of goes <v Speaker 1>usually like Call of Duty and uh like, it goes <v Speaker 1>to the live service categories all the time. Best Art Direction, <v Speaker 1>Donkey Kong might be in there. <v Speaker 3>Nolid Delta. <v Speaker 4>There is no way Claire doesn't win that art direction. <v Speaker 4>The whole game is about art. What about best Game Direction? <v Speaker 4>Metal Gear Solid Delta best. <v Speaker 3>It's metal Gear. It's Metal Gear Solid three, which is <v Speaker 3>one of the great ten top ten great games of <v Speaker 3>all time. It looks new and pretty. It needs to <v Speaker 3>get some respect. <v Speaker 1>I'm pretty sure almost every year, other than maybe last year, <v Speaker 1>unless I'm misremembering, whoever wins Best Game Direction also wins <v Speaker 1>Game of the Year because it is kind of just <v Speaker 1>a hand in hand, like if you have how do <v Speaker 1>you have the best game of the year if you <v Speaker 1>didn't have the best Game Direction. It's one of those <v Speaker 1>silly categories. I think that doesn't really make sense, So <v Speaker 1>that'll probably go to Claire Obscure. In my opinion, it'd <v Speaker 1>be wild. <v Speaker 4>If it gets split this time around, like if someone <v Speaker 4>else gets game direction. <v Speaker 3>Do you think it's rigged? <v Speaker 1>Uh in a way that the way they describe how <v Speaker 1>they do the Game of the Year awards is they <v Speaker 1>have a team, they have a jury that makes up <v Speaker 1>like fifty percent of the vote or something like that, <v Speaker 1>maybe more, and then the other fifty or whatever. You <v Speaker 1>can probably google. It actually is made up by audience voting, <v Speaker 1>So the audience does play a part, but for the <v Speaker 1>most part, it can it comes down to a jury, <v Speaker 1>and I think the reason why they do that is <v Speaker 1>just so like it keeps it people. People vote for <v Speaker 1>meme things. People just yeah, people would sabotage it on purpose. <v Speaker 1>That would look yeah, that would be me. <v Speaker 3>I'm also not a fan of the the esteemed panel <v Speaker 3>of people who they have, like, yeah, use week variety <v Speaker 3>like bro get some normal ass like youtubercent there or <v Speaker 3>something like that. I might even say, I'm just saying, <v Speaker 3>like crazy, hold. <v Speaker 1>On, do you guys want to hear the actual answer. <v Speaker 1>I actually kind of remember it being this crazy, but <v Speaker 1>I didn't want to say it out of turn. At <v Speaker 1>the Game Awards, audience votes contribute for ten percent to <v Speaker 1>the final selection, while the remaining ninety percent is determined <v Speaker 1>by a voting jury. So all those little votes that <v Speaker 1>we cast online, that's ten percent. We're not doing it. <v Speaker 1>We're not doing a damn thing. It's literally a jury <v Speaker 1>of people, saying Elden Ring again, it's it's they do <v Speaker 1>do every year. They do do the Player's Choice or <v Speaker 1>whatever it is, they do an award for Game of <v Speaker 1>the Year, for Fan favorite or whatever they call it. <v Speaker 1>And that's like the ten percent, that's what that's what <v Speaker 1>I actually want out of the people. <v Speaker 2>But I don't wonder if Split Fiction is going to <v Speaker 2>win anything. That's like such a good game. <v Speaker 1>They'll definitely win some stuff. Let me see here, they <v Speaker 1>got back to the categories. They should have a best <v Speaker 1>co op category. They should It could be I don't <v Speaker 1>do they count as an indie team still or no, <v Speaker 1>because they're probably out of that, right, I think so <v Speaker 1>best narrative, maybe best performance. I don't think so that's <v Speaker 1>a that's an individual person, best action adventure. They'll be <v Speaker 1>in there as well, and honestly, that could beat Donkey Kong. <v Speaker 1>I wouldn't be surprised if it beats Donkey Kong. <v Speaker 3>Yeah. <v Speaker 1>I don't know if they if they qualify as multiplayer <v Speaker 1>even though technically it is a only multiplayer game. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, I wonder how they did that with their necks too. <v Speaker 1>Did everybody give their opinion on Game of the Year? <v Speaker 1>Did I go around the whole circle here? I believe, <v Speaker 1>I think so, okay, just just to just to remind us, <v Speaker 1>did anybody anybody think, yes, game of the Year for sure? <v Speaker 1>Or you're all kind of right in the fence. <v Speaker 4>Still, I can't think I think I said, yeah, I <v Speaker 4>think it's gonna get the game of the year. <v Speaker 1>Okay, I'm actually gonna go out on a limb early <v Speaker 1>on and say that. No, I'm also gonna say yeah, <v Speaker 1>right now, I think Expedition thirty three will beat it. <v Speaker 1>I want Expedition thirty three to win. <v Speaker 3>It makes for a better story too. <v Speaker 1>I think I think it's a better game. Like I think, <v Speaker 1>for what the game in its genre, I think it <v Speaker 1>is a better game than Donkey Kong is in its genre. <v Speaker 1>But I mean, in my opinion. <v Speaker 3>Even from the perspective of look, even this small team <v Speaker 3>releasing a budget game that doesn't have the same stuff <v Speaker 3>that Triple A Games have, but even they it could <v Speaker 3>be game of the year. You know, you haven't had <v Speaker 3>that heartwarming moment since it takes two And I feel <v Speaker 3>like they want to, you know, pump a little bit <v Speaker 3>of feeling into people this year. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, I I mean, I agree with that. But also <v Speaker 1>I said the same thing with Tiers of the Kingdom. <v Speaker 1>I I that year I put the flag in pretty <v Speaker 1>early that boulders Gate was gonna win, and a lot <v Speaker 1>of people thought I was crazy. And also all people <v Speaker 1>got mad at me because I'm the Nintendo guy and <v Speaker 1>it's like, why are you saying bolders Gate, And it's <v Speaker 1>because I played the I played boulders Gate, and it's <v Speaker 1>amazing for what it is in its genre of game. <v Speaker 1>It excelled well beyond what Tears of the Kingdom did <v Speaker 1>within the world a Breath of the wild like it <v Speaker 1>just did, and I love And that's not like my <v Speaker 1>personal preference in that case, like Tiars of the Kingdom <v Speaker 1>was my personal preference of what I would rather play, <v Speaker 1>but Bolder's Gate was a very close second, and that <v Speaker 1>game was just a better game, and I could see that, <v Speaker 1>whereas this time I'm a little flipped where I think <v Speaker 1>it is Ectuition thirty three, and I also think that <v Speaker 1>game is better. I love that game. That game was incredible. <v Speaker 1>You should play that game, Josie. <v Speaker 3>How long is that? <v Speaker 1>It's as long as you want it to be. You <v Speaker 1>can finish it in thirty or you can take much longer, <v Speaker 1>like I didn't finish in like sixty. It's kind of <v Speaker 1>it gets really open ended near the end, like the <v Speaker 1>whole game opens up and it's a little open. Welldy, <v Speaker 1>that's cool. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, I'm like sort of trying to understand JRPG's more <v Speaker 2>not like I really like platformers, and that's usually where <v Speaker 2>I stick. <v Speaker 1>Uh yeah, I can see that. I can feel that. <v Speaker 1>Nintendo also, I probably orders Gate a lot, though I love. <v Speaker 1>If you like boterers, gay, you'll probably like Expedition thirty three. <v Speaker 4>I really think Expedition thirty three pushed the medium of <v Speaker 4>turn based combat forward, like exponentially, you know, yeah. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, like being innovated in a place where people weren't <v Speaker 1>really innovating for a long time. <v Speaker 4>I had people that I knew who hate hate turn <v Speaker 4>based combat, cannot stand it, but they were playing the <v Speaker 4>hell out of Expedition thirty three because it's just how <v Speaker 4>fun the turn base. <v Speaker 1>Was a couple of small little fun thing or one <v Speaker 1>small fun thing. Did you guys see that I switched <v Speaker 1>staplea thing he sold for two hundred and fifty thousand dollars. <v Speaker 1>It went out to auction. <v Speaker 4>Damn. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, the Staple Nintendo switched to from GameStop. I don't <v Speaker 1>know if the person actually paid that, but it's all <v Speaker 1>going to charity. You know what I actually think, My <v Speaker 1>honest opinion on this is I think GameStop themselves bought it. <v Speaker 1>I think that was off. I think it will I <v Speaker 1>mean yeah, I mean charity is of course, I think <v Speaker 1>it was all a publicity thing for GameStop. I think <v Speaker 1>they just they they bought it at a quarter million, <v Speaker 1>they gave the money. I'm sure they gave the money <v Speaker 1>to charity and wrote it off on tax. But I <v Speaker 1>don't see any other person paying for this, And it <v Speaker 1>made such big headlines for GameStop and it looks good <v Speaker 1>on them because it went to charity, so I don't <v Speaker 1>know who else would do it. <v Speaker 3>They can even write off the purchase of it too, <v Speaker 3>so I mean it makes perfect because you get that publicity. <v Speaker 3>Like you said, it's a feel good story. Everyone wins. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, I think so. And then going back to Donkey Kong, <v Speaker 1>this is my tweet here reviewed by my boy Logan Plant, <v Speaker 1>who he had on the podcast recently, the resident IGN <v Speaker 1>Nintendo reviewer. He gave Donkey Kong Bonanza a perfect ten <v Speaker 1>out of ten masterpiece. When he was on the show, <v Speaker 1>Benglin and I were asking, like what does a game <v Speaker 1>need to do to get masterpiece? Like, what does it <v Speaker 1>need to do to be a ten out of ten? <v Speaker 1>And this was it. It was Donkey Kong. He absolutely <v Speaker 1>loved it. So as soon as I saw he gave <v Speaker 1>it that I knew I was gonna love it. I <v Speaker 1>was like, well, if he likes it, I'm gonna like <v Speaker 1>it because I agree with almost every single one of <v Speaker 1>his reviews. So shout out to Logan who who smashed <v Speaker 1>this review punintended. <v Speaker 3>When we were doing Game and Talk this week, we <v Speaker 3>were looking at some of the reviews and we looked <v Speaker 3>at the ig in review. I was like, who wrote this? <v Speaker 3>I was like, Logan Plant, I wonder if he has <v Speaker 3>me blocked? And he doesn't have me blocked? So why <v Speaker 3>would he have you blocked? Oh? <v Speaker 2>Have most other journalists do? <v Speaker 1>Unfortunately we don't say most other journalists, Like Sean is <v Speaker 1>a journalist? <v Speaker 2>Oh like other than Logan? <v Speaker 1>Oh right right? <v Speaker 3>Yeah, no me excluded. But yeah, I was pleasantly surprised. <v Speaker 3>I was like, that must be the Wood affiliation. So <v Speaker 3>you know, I'm good with him. He likes me. <v Speaker 1>Who wait, why would people block you? What are you like? <v Speaker 1>Tagging them? You adding them? What are you doing? <v Speaker 2>Celia has to defend him on a. <v Speaker 1>Bit on a like you probably shouldn't do that. <v Speaker 2>Well she doesn't really, She's just like its chill sor. <v Speaker 3>Right, no, but like I don't even I don't even like. <v Speaker 2>I mean, can't take it seriously. <v Speaker 3>There's been times where I've I've said something to some <v Speaker 3>of them like oh yeah, this is stupid or whatever. <v Speaker 3>But I would say probably eighty five to ninety percent <v Speaker 3>of them I've never interacted with in my life, and <v Speaker 3>I'm just I'm just blocked. <v Speaker 1>You do say a lot of really dumb things sometimes. <v Speaker 3>Yeah, but I mean I stand on him as long <v Speaker 3>as as long as you do, that's all that matters, <v Speaker 3>that's all I care. Yeah. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, what time are we at? We're at We're getting <v Speaker 1>close to the alley here. I know Josie needs to <v Speaker 1>get going. We threw this together last minute, and I <v Speaker 1>really appreciate these two coming on last second. And apparently <v Speaker 1>Josie has to run to the airport, got a flight <v Speaker 1>coming out. No, don't be sorry. I'm just happy that <v Speaker 1>you guys are here, so. <v Speaker 3>You're not on spawncast tonight. <v Speaker 2>I am. I just have to run to Lax and <v Speaker 2>pick up my boyfriend and then I have to go back, <v Speaker 2>but it's far away from me. <v Speaker 1>Oh, okay, you don't anything to make excuses you. <v Speaker 2>I was just making sure I don't get yelled at <v Speaker 2>on the spodcast. <v Speaker 1>Mostly if you're getting yelled at. There's other issues we <v Speaker 1>need to talk about. <v Speaker 3>Mbg's coming back. <v Speaker 1>Oh my god, finally again, you're finally coming back from Britain. <v Speaker 3>He went on a vag dude. I thought I thought <v Speaker 3>he was going. He was like, oh, yeah, we're going <v Speaker 3>to Germany. I was like, oh, you're going to Games Calm. <v Speaker 3>And then I looked like when he was in Germany <v Speaker 3>and like Games Calm is until like the end of August, <v Speaker 3>and I was like, oh, I guess he just went <v Speaker 3>on vacation there and he was. He was there for <v Speaker 3>like a week and a half or something. Them. <v Speaker 2>Isn't he from Australia. <v Speaker 3>No, he's from Britain. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, he's bringing Uh we do not I don't. We <v Speaker 1>don't claim him in Australia. No, he's very nice. I <v Speaker 1>like him. <v Speaker 3>All right. <v Speaker 1>I want to do some final thoughts on on Donkey <v Speaker 1>Kong for everybody, But before that, we got some super chats. <v Speaker 1>I want to read through. So KFB says, I beat <v Speaker 1>the game last night. So many surprises at the end, <v Speaker 1>multiple surprises. I don't we don't need. We don't need <v Speaker 1>the spoilers. I'm sure there is. There was a ton <v Speaker 1>of surprises at the end of Odyssey that it is <v Speaker 1>it long enough that I can spoil the end of <v Speaker 1>Odyssey or should I not? <v Speaker 3>I don't know. You remember what there's people buying a <v Speaker 3>switch to who might not have had to switch one yet. <v Speaker 1>And also now with Odyssey having that like new upgrade <v Speaker 1>and HD on everything, maybe I won't. <v Speaker 2>But that final Odyssey feels a lot like Donkey Kong <v Speaker 2>kind of the what the final capture of Odyssey feels <v Speaker 2>similar to what we're doing in Donkey Konga with the bananas. <v Speaker 1>Ze Bat says, nicer you to invite RGT and his daughter. <v Speaker 1>I don't. I don't know what that is. I don't <v Speaker 1>like that. I don't appreciate that. I'm not I'm not <v Speaker 1>about that. That's very weird. Bingles Burner with two dollars <v Speaker 1>super Chat help would trap me in his spare room again. <v Speaker 1>Also bingles Burner with another super Chat can't believe we <v Speaker 1>got John and Josie this week. You guys, your audience <v Speaker 1>is just clown on you. Huh yeah. Dragonheart says, uh <v Speaker 1>some suggestions for Game of the Year here, Kingdom Come <v Speaker 1>Deliverance too. Is game of the Year worthy? I've not <v Speaker 1>heard too much about that game. So I'm not sure <v Speaker 1>about that one specifically, but uh, maybe I'm also Indiana Jones, <v Speaker 1>they suggested, I also don't. I also don't think so. <v Speaker 1>But I played. I played it. It was, it was, <v Speaker 1>it was good. <v Speaker 3>I was. I was forty three, forty four hours into <v Speaker 3>that game. <v Speaker 1>Okay, really, I really like it is a Game of <v Speaker 1>the Year contender. You didn't mention it when we were <v Speaker 1>talking about Game of the years. <v Speaker 3>Because I am a normal human and that game came <v Speaker 3>out in twenty twenty four, so in my mind, that <v Speaker 3>should have been in four. <v Speaker 1>That's a I hate. I don't like when they do that. <v Speaker 3>Yeah, it missed the cutoff, but then it's coming out <v Speaker 3>on place. It came out on PlayStation five, and then <v Speaker 3>they're doing DALC this year. But I think that staggered <v Speaker 3>release of it is going to be in its detriment. <v Speaker 3>I think something though. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, I would definitely have something. Maybe best performance, because <v Speaker 1>I know was it Troy Baker did, uh did a <v Speaker 1>pretty good Harrison Ford impression. Well, uh, Dwayne just said <v Speaker 1>RGT a bunch of times with a five dollar super <v Speaker 1>Chap veto with two no barrels or swinging on trees <v Speaker 1>is a letdown. There are so many barrels in Bonanza. <v Speaker 1>There's a billion barrels. There's too many barrels. <v Speaker 2>Tho are the challenge rooms? <v Speaker 1>Yeah, I mean even around the world does barrels, But yeah, <v Speaker 1>the challenge rooms are filled with them, especially the nostalgic <v Speaker 1>two D levels, which are like the best best part <v Speaker 1>of the game. <v Speaker 3>They are awesome. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, and then uh no trees to swing on those <v Speaker 1>is a good point. I'm surprised there's no that does <v Speaker 1>feel like something they could have done. And then Professor <v Speaker 1>Rock with a two dollars r GT gets blocked for <v Speaker 1>being a Knicks fan. <v Speaker 3>Oh, stop that. Everyone loves the Knicks. It's America's team. <v Speaker 3>It's America's team. <v Speaker 1>They're New York Knicks, right, yes, sir, I mean I <v Speaker 1>guess I have to like him. Now, I'm pretty close <v Speaker 1>to pretty close to home here. <v Speaker 3>Well, I mean, you technically have the seventy six ers, <v Speaker 3>but nobody likes the seventy six ers. <v Speaker 1>What do we have the Philly Flyers. That's a thing, right, <v Speaker 1>that's hockey. <v Speaker 3>Okay, seventy six ers is basketball, Philadelphia seventy six. <v Speaker 1>Ers, Oh, Nicks basketball? I thought that was baseball. <v Speaker 3>Now the Yankees have the Phillies. You're a Phillies person. <v Speaker 1>Who are they just called Phillies the baseball team? Yeah, <v Speaker 1>the Philadelphia Phillies. Yes, that's not creative at all. <v Speaker 3>No, all right, you did have the greatest, one of <v Speaker 3>the greatest players of all time with John Kruk. He <v Speaker 3>would smoke a pack of cigarettes before like going out <v Speaker 3>and playing, and he was really fat, but he was good, <v Speaker 3>so like everyone rocked with him. He's a legend. <v Speaker 1>Sounds like you're idol, right, all right, let's do some <v Speaker 1>final thoughts if we have them here, because I just <v Speaker 1>want to know more about what you guys think of <v Speaker 1>your Donkey Kong experience. If you have anything else that <v Speaker 1>you want to add to it for me, I'll say <v Speaker 1>I'll get it going by saying I am just flawed <v Speaker 1>by the game. There's something to do in every single <v Speaker 1>little corner. When I'm not live, I've been going back <v Speaker 1>through other levels because I don't want to progress without chat, <v Speaker 1>and I'm just going through and collecting everything. I found <v Speaker 1>out that there is actually a list of all the <v Speaker 1>things you can collect, or at least all of the bananas. <v Speaker 1>So I've been I've missed a couple, but I'm trying <v Speaker 1>to go through. I've leveled up the abilities as much <v Speaker 1>as I can and to help me find things. Apparently <v Speaker 1>I can level up my outfits too to help me <v Speaker 1>find things, So I've got to figure out where those are. <v Speaker 1>But I'm having so much fun going through and collecting everything, <v Speaker 1>and I'm so amazed by how much game there actually is. <v Speaker 1>Like I'm not sure how much I have left, but <v Speaker 1>I keep looking at the overworld map and I know <v Speaker 1>that I've done so much. I've done so many levels <v Speaker 1>that have multiple levels to the levels, and I'm only <v Speaker 1>halfway through what looks like I need to do to <v Speaker 1>actually get to the Crust, which is all the core, <v Speaker 1>which is where we're heading. So yeah, just so much game. <v Speaker 1>It feels like the game that should have been eighty <v Speaker 1>in my opinion, not Mario Cut, not that I want <v Speaker 1>any of them to be eighty, but it feels like <v Speaker 1>it has all of the content I was hoping that <v Speaker 1>Mario Cut would have had. Yeah, you're saying eighty dollars, Yeah, <v Speaker 1>eighty dollars. No about the score on Metacritic, though, Donkey <v Speaker 1>Kong sat at what ninety ninety one and Odyssey sat <v Speaker 1>at ninety seven, I think, and I thing that's deserved <v Speaker 1>for Odyssey. I'm surprised Donkey Kong isn't higher. I'm not <v Speaker 1>sure what brought it down, other than maybe people taking <v Speaker 1>the performance way too seriously. <v Speaker 3>I think it's because Mario is a bigger ip than <v Speaker 3>Donkey Kong is. <v Speaker 4>Oh. <v Speaker 1>I had a point I wanted to make about that, <v Speaker 1>but games will get a little bit of a boost <v Speaker 1>go around. Then I want to quickly touch on our <v Speaker 1>sales predictions. But if you guys have anything to add <v Speaker 1>to the actual game itself, I'd love to hear it. <v Speaker 2>I love the bonus rooms and the challenge rooms. I <v Speaker 2>think that is one of the coolest parts of this game, <v Speaker 2>and it especially the two D stuff like it really <v Speaker 2>just if you miss that from you know, like the <v Speaker 2>past Donkey Kong platformers, it's a really just like nostalgic <v Speaker 2>and fun way to bring it back. So I really <v Speaker 2>appreciate that they did that. And I'm just having a <v Speaker 2>lot of fun exploring, which in a lot of games <v Speaker 2>I like to bline it like I'm not a big collector, <v Speaker 2>but in this game, I have a great time going <v Speaker 2>for everything and the skill trees and stuff that they <v Speaker 2>have with Donkey Kong is so cool and that's such <v Speaker 2>like a rewarding thing to collect everything for us, so <v Speaker 2>I'm loving it a lot. <v Speaker 1>That's a really good point too, is like I do <v Speaker 1>like collecting things. I've always kind of got addicted to it. <v Speaker 1>But the fact that now when you collect the main thing, <v Speaker 1>it's also used to upgrade your skill tree gives another <v Speaker 1>level to collecting what would have been like Moons or <v Speaker 1>Stars and other Mario games. It's really smart. <v Speaker 3>What about YouTube system Seller? I think it's I think <v Speaker 3>it's a system seller. It's a game you can only <v Speaker 3>get on there. There's nothing quite like it in terms <v Speaker 3>of three D platformers, and yeah, it's a great game. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, Bingle. <v Speaker 4>I like the fact that like usually like kind of <v Speaker 4>like to touch base on what Josie said, I kind <v Speaker 4>of like to be lined and go for the the <v Speaker 4>end a lot in a lot of games. But I <v Speaker 4>find myself not doing that. And it's not on like <v Speaker 4>a conscious decision like I'm looking to do that. It's <v Speaker 4>just the natural thing to do in the game. It's <v Speaker 4>just to explore everything and you're not even realizing you <v Speaker 4>because it's just so much fun. And yeah, I also <v Speaker 4>think it's a system seller. <v Speaker 1>You know, I agree with all of that. Okay, I'm <v Speaker 1>trying to wrap it up for Josie, but also because oh, <v Speaker 1>because it's Saturday. To be honest, I also want to <v Speaker 1>get out of here. It's not just Juessy. The last <v Speaker 1>thing I want to do is say was predictions because <v Speaker 1>I think it's an interesting conversation, and I'll give you <v Speaker 1>mine because I was thinking last night, how much is <v Speaker 1>this game going to sell? It's on a console that's <v Speaker 1>selling crazy numbers. And then if you look at Odyssey <v Speaker 1>as kind of like the prequel as the last one <v Speaker 1>as a comparison, I mean Odyssey sold something like, actually, <v Speaker 1>how much did it sell? I should probably know that <v Speaker 1>it was like thirty million or something, right, Mario Odyssey sales. <v Speaker 1>I want to get that number correct. Yeah, thirty million, <v Speaker 1>almost exactly. So you would think, you know, maybe comparable, <v Speaker 1>maybe something similar. But I really do think that the <v Speaker 1>ip of Donkey Kong is in its detriment. Like I <v Speaker 1>think Donkey Kong as a character just doesn't sell as <v Speaker 1>well as Mario. And another good example of that is <v Speaker 1>like Mario Brothers, You and Deluxe sold like thirty million <v Speaker 1>across the two platforms, whereas Tropical Freeze sold six million, <v Speaker 1>which that's like a direct competitor for like a two <v Speaker 1>D platformer. And let's be real here, donkey kom Tropical <v Speaker 1>Freeze takes a giant steaming log of a diarrhea poop <v Speaker 1>all over Mario brothers you as far as like an incredible, <v Speaker 1>amazing game, and it sold a fraction. So I think <v Speaker 1>the hype and everyone talking about Bonanza is gonna help it. <v Speaker 1>But I will be surprised if Bonanza sells more than <v Speaker 1>fifteen million, I think, is my guess. It's gonna might <v Speaker 1>land around fifteen and that's like near the end, like <v Speaker 1>like Odyssey's thirty now, you know, So I'm thinking like <v Speaker 1>near the end, we might end up around fifteen for it. <v Speaker 1>Anyone else have a production ten even lower from Sean. <v Speaker 1>It's so unfortunate to think about, and it's as crazy <v Speaker 1>to think about as all of us here and people watching. <v Speaker 1>You're like, but no, this game is incredible. Of course <v Speaker 1>it's gonna sell more. You'll be surprised. You'll be surprised <v Speaker 1>it's not Mario, and people just don't pick it up <v Speaker 1>the same Josie, you want to throw out a prediction. <v Speaker 2>I'll say seventeen. I think it could just like sell <v Speaker 2>a little bit more just because there's also that Donkey <v Speaker 2>Kong movie coming out too. Yeah, didn't they just announce that, <v Speaker 2>So like that could get people more invested in the IP. <v Speaker 1>So that's a good point. There's the movie, there's the <v Speaker 1>theme park. And the other thing working for it too <v Speaker 1>is like the Switch Too is selling incredible numbers right now. <v Speaker 1>I don't know if it will keep going, like because <v Speaker 1>if the Switch To sells like this continually, it's gonna <v Speaker 1>lap the Switch one at some point, which means the <v Speaker 1>software will lap the Switch one software. So I think <v Speaker 1>there is a chance. I don't think you're off base. <v Speaker 1>I mean I said fifteen so you're only slightly above. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, I'm very yeah, I agree a lot with fifteen two. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, but I also think she'll I don't. I wouldn't <v Speaker 1>put money on it. I mean I wouldn't. I wouldn't <v Speaker 1>be against uh thinking Tenny the Bingle, Do you have <v Speaker 1>a guess? <v Speaker 3>M I don't know. <v Speaker 4>I think it's gonna sell less than Odyssey. I know <v Speaker 4>that for sure. I'm saying conservative estimate, like yeah, like <v Speaker 4>ten million, maybe a little bit more. <v Speaker 1>Well, you gotta change I could, I could go even lower. <v Speaker 4>You really you have to change it so that when <v Speaker 4>we're all right, I'm gonna I'll say, I'll say twelve <v Speaker 4>thirteen million. <v Speaker 3>I don't know. <v Speaker 1>I don't know. I don't know twelve twelve point five okay, okay, Sean, <v Speaker 1>you want to stick at ten? <v Speaker 3>I mean, is it prices right rules or what? <v Speaker 1>Yeah? Price is right rules. Yeah, it was prices right rules. <v Speaker 3>I should really do one and then I would don't <v Speaker 3>come on, I'll be nice and stick with ten. But <v Speaker 3>I think eight is probably more feasible. <v Speaker 1>Okay, I think eight is I think eight is low. <v Speaker 1>I think you're touch and touching cloth there on. <v Speaker 3>Eight, am, I I would like to hope. <v Speaker 1>So, I mean even Metro Donkey Kong, even METROI dread <v Speaker 1>sold three million, you. <v Speaker 2>Know, like I remember your little thing about that. <v Speaker 3>One I did no, I did win. It was three <v Speaker 3>million in a year and it did not. <v Speaker 1>I I would I don't know about eight. I think ten, <v Speaker 1>But at the same time, you never know, because you're right, <v Speaker 1>that would still be what is the best selling Donkey Kong? Ever, <v Speaker 1>it was a tropical freeze at six, yes, so you know, yeah. <v Speaker 3>And that's on two systems, and okay. <v Speaker 2>But imagine this movie doesn't sane and all the kids <v Speaker 2>are like, oh my god, Donkey Kong, I gotta get <v Speaker 2>so much Donkey Kong. <v Speaker 3>You're in a different time frame of the Switch one <v Speaker 3>to the Switch to. The Switch to is more expensive. <v Speaker 3>People's budgets are much smaller, there are looming issues that <v Speaker 3>could test them, and van he doesn't help. And you <v Speaker 3>had a pandemic where people were trapped in their house <v Speaker 3>for a year and a half and all they could <v Speaker 3>do was play video games. So that definitely helped. Games <v Speaker 3>like Animal Crossing and Nintendo Switch one that sales, and <v Speaker 3>you also had a cheaper variant of the Switch one. <v Speaker 3>I also don't believe that the Switch two is going <v Speaker 3>to outsell the Switch one. I think the Switch to <v Speaker 3>will cap out probably around one hundred million or so, <v Speaker 3>which would be very successful, But I am not expecting <v Speaker 3>one hundred and fifty million plus because it's a lot <v Speaker 3>like to me, it's a lot like looking at the <v Speaker 3>two Zelda games on the Switch one, Tiers the Kingdom <v Speaker 3>and Breath of the Wild, people automatically assumed that Tears <v Speaker 3>of the Kingdom was going to rocket past Breath of <v Speaker 3>the Wild in no time at all because blah blah blah. <v Speaker 3>Look at how well Breath of the Wild sold. You <v Speaker 3>have to remember a lot of people bought Breath of <v Speaker 3>the Wild and didn't really love it as much as <v Speaker 3>other people did. They wanted more tradition, and that's why <v Speaker 3>Tears of the Kingdom was never going to outsell it. <v Speaker 3>Same situation with the Switch one and the Switch to. <v Speaker 3>A lot some people that bought a Switch one didn't <v Speaker 3>really love the concept. So are they gonna have a <v Speaker 3>reason to go out and buy a switch to. No, <v Speaker 3>they've learned their lesson, especially with the more expensive system. <v Speaker 3>I want to do a slight correction to the record here. <v Speaker 3>I did a little Google of sales. Apparently the first <v Speaker 3>Donkey Kong like the NES one, sold twenty million. <v Speaker 2>Bang. <v Speaker 1>I don't know what Google. <v Speaker 3>I don't know. <v Speaker 2>Or like Google. <v Speaker 1>Maybe it's wrong, but let me let me go through. <v Speaker 3>That's let me go through. <v Speaker 1>Through some actual like numbers. I don't know if that's true, <v Speaker 1>but Donkey Kong Country the Supernintendo one, it sold nine <v Speaker 1>million on Super Nintendo, and then if you count game <v Speaker 1>Boy Color and game Boy Advance, it sold thirteen million. <v Speaker 3>It was also a packing game for Supernintendo for a while. <v Speaker 1>Okay, that's a good point. Mind, Tropical Freeze was six <v Speaker 1>million between the two Tropical Country returns was six million. <v Speaker 1>Oh on Wii, but between three DS and Switch it <v Speaker 1>sold ten millions. So I yah, it is juicing a little. <v Speaker 1>But Donkey k is no movie at that time, there <v Speaker 1>was no movie. <v Speaker 3>For the Donkey Kong sales. You're including Arcade, Calico Mini Arcade, <v Speaker 3>Game and Watch, Callico Vision, Atari, twenty six hundred, twenty <v Speaker 3>six hundred, Junior and Television, FOM and f com Disco. <v Speaker 2>Yes, that's the very first Donkey. <v Speaker 1>Kong I'm seeing. I'm seeing that now. Yeah, yeah, it's <v Speaker 1>all of them. It's everything on any s. Specifically, it <v Speaker 1>only sold a quarter million, a quarter million. It actually <v Speaker 1>sold more on eight bit Atari. It's six hundred. Actually <v Speaker 1>I sold Calico Vision sold a million. Hey, that can't <v Speaker 1>be right, Chameleon. That's also that number. That twenty million <v Speaker 1>is also counting seven million game and watches. Hey, wow, <v Speaker 1>game and watch. I didn't know it was that popular. <v Speaker 1>And wonder you called your podcast game and uh talk system. Um, yeah, <v Speaker 1>I think honestly, seeing that Donkey Kong Country return sold <v Speaker 1>ten million across three systems does give me a bit <v Speaker 1>more hope that that Josie and I are probably closer <v Speaker 1>to the eventual number. This is eventual number, you know, <v Speaker 1>not like six. But well guess we'll see. We'll come <v Speaker 1>back to it, all right, I'll I'll let you guys <v Speaker 1>get out of here and we can all enjoy our Saturday, Bengal. <v Speaker 1>If you have another half an hour, I'd love to <v Speaker 1>do a bonus with you.
