00:00:00 Speaker 1: You are listening to the Dan Patrick Show on Fox Sports Radio. 00:00:04 Speaker 2: Hell yeah, we'll sit in to Dan Patrick Hatrick the DP three day two, which means we're here tomorrow. But thank you guys for putting up with us. You could watch the show, says here. You can watch us live on YouTube right now see Rich's Glorious Melon as we simulcast on YouTube, YouTube dot com, slash at Covino and Rich FSR at Covino and Rich FSR and the live chat is up. But we really want you to call up right now and get you involved because we do this every Thursday at our normal time, five to seven on the East Monday through Friday. Every Thursday, we throw it back old school when fifty hits, when fifty hits on the clock, and in life sometimes you go a little old school. And today we're talking romantic movies. Yeah, Love Love Love Basketball. I almost said rom coms like Rich Again doesn't have to be a comedy. But it's the anniversary of Love and Basketball, a movie that everybody swears by Danny g loves I've never seen it, Rich has never seen it came out twenty six years ago today with a young Mike Tomlin and it still stands up. 00:01:11 Speaker 3: That's Mike Tomlin. 00:01:13 Speaker 4: Bro I'm like, I feel like you need to put that on your revisit list because it still stands up. I saw it just last year and really good movie. 00:01:24 Speaker 2: Eighty six on Rotten Tomatoes. But yeah, Omar Epps, not Mike Tomlin, Omar Epps and and Dennis Haysburg. As we pointed out, she stands the test of time. Gambrielle Unions. But apparently because I have obviously heard about the movie, people love this movie, loving basketball, and because it's that NBA time of the year and we were talking about Curry earlier, I hope you're enjoying the playing games. 00:01:51 Speaker 5: You know. 00:01:52 Speaker 2: We figured we'd talk about this and bring up other romantic movies that maybe you love. We also got to talk about tailgating this hour, so stick around. It's a MANFL well, in fact, a lot of NFL this hour, So we'll talk these rom coms and romantic movies and then we'll get to some NFL. 00:02:07 Speaker 3: Yeah, and Rich, I knew you'd have a list for this topic right away. 00:02:10 Speaker 2: I'm I'm a sucker for good rom coms. You say, romantic movies, I'm not gonna get down with that, because to me, it's like, what's a romantic movie other than the Notebook? We've all watched a Notebook with our wife or girlfriend. But besides that, when you say like romantic movies, I got a story about that. That's a romantic movie. And I'm about to blow your mind. Okay, by the way, you know the weather girl you've been drooling over all morning, and I just said, who's the good looking weather girl? I'm not up at this hour usually Rich. I haven't seen Rich get that up and close and personal with the TV since Tom Brady won a World super Bowl. 00:02:39 Speaker 3: So I'm fascinated by Tom Brady. 00:02:44 Speaker 2: Brianna Ruffalo. I found out just now that she's married to Josh Lucas. Oh, who's in a great rom com. It sort of ties together. I guess one of Rich's favorites. Thank you. Iowa Sam. Sam goes, you know who connection you're married to, and I'm like, no, he goes actor Josh Lucas. I'm like the guy I always confuse for McConaughey, Matthew McConaughey. 00:03:07 Speaker 6: He looks like Will Forte a little bit. Yeah, you know, I'm sorry thinking of not Will for not Will Fortee, Will Arnett. 00:03:13 Speaker 3: He's a few of. 00:03:14 Speaker 2: Rich's favorites because I know Rich talks about Josh Lucas a lot. Well, Josh Lucas was in I believe Sweet Home Alabama? Ye, or was it McConaughey. But but that's see, I don't I don't get it, like if you're too macho to enjoy like Sweet Home Alabama or it's not about being too modulell time. Sometimes these things really just don't resonate with you because. 00:03:35 Speaker 4: They're they're too Some of them are too corny, Rich, too cheesy. 00:03:38 Speaker 2: Subscribe you and you're a Hallmark Channel guy, though, But you guys, Rich talks about my best friend's wedding and I want to bang my head through the wall. It's a good movie, He's like, you know the good movie. 00:03:46 Speaker 3: I'm a good movie. You got the worst standards ever. 00:03:49 Speaker 2: Well, guess what the difference between Kvino and I is? On like Apple TV, I watch Ted Lasso shrinking comnos like I watched the god Zula movie for the show whatever it is monarch on Our Legacy of Monsters Man Kurt Russell bro Well, we're discut from different qu It doesn't mean I don't like any romantic movies. Right, So Danny, she already said it, no romantic movies. 00:04:10 Speaker 3: What do you mean? That is what it is? That's the whole category. 00:04:14 Speaker 2: Do you think Love and Basketball is a comedy? Rom com means you know that's short for a romantic comedy, right, but you know that all comedies romantic drama. But this romantic movies is what we're saying. 00:04:27 Speaker 4: You know, Sam even made a good point off the air. He was saying that a lot of sports movies have an underlying romance in the movie, like The Natural. 00:04:35 Speaker 6: Yeah, almost all movies have a roman at least one romantic subplot. 00:04:40 Speaker 2: Rocky is the definition of that. He always says it's actually a love story, absolutely, because Rocky is a love story. His love for Adrian is that's the same storyline. And you know, you could say, I'm not saying it's a romantic movie. But again, you're right, every sports movie. What was one of the underlying plot lines of even Major League? Old school Jake Taylor, you know, played in the Mexican League and then he remember he falls in love with the girl he knew back in the day, and then what happens in the final scene of Major League. He sees her in the crowd and she holds up her hands. She no longer has the ring on from the dude she was with, and they kiss and I cried back. Dude. I remember I had a townhouse Union, New Jersey, That's where I'm from, and I live with my buddy Barnando. His name was Barry, but he was always trying to bring his Panic chicks back to the house, so he called him Barnando. Yeah, he got really thin sideburns and he's like, I'm Barnando. He tried to change his whole image just to attract, you know, beautiful the young ladies Barry, but they called him just you know, there was a phase, Sam where our friend Barry started acting He's Italian, but he started acting more Latino when he wasn't. And also, I remember one time we went back to your place. We're all having drinks. Well I was going back to Covinos and Barry was there just hanging with these two hot Puerto Rican girls. 00:06:00 Speaker 3: Don't think something's like I'm Barnando now, yeah, oh hey. 00:06:03 Speaker 2: I mean Barnando. So anyway, Barnando and I we lived together at this one point and we didn't know about. This is one of the nights that he didn't bring home these you know Puerto Rican girls. We didn't know what the Notebook was, Danny g It just happened to be on or we happen to get it or I don't know. I had it on DVD or whatever and put it on. Yes, you know, seems like a decent movie. And Rachel McAdams was. 00:06:35 Speaker 3: Hot, dude. 00:06:36 Speaker 2: She was a small show back then, for sure, right, gossling, cool whatever. I mean, I had an idea, but I didn't know what it was about. Fast forward man, Me and Barnando were sitting there all tearing up like two losers, pretending like, yeah, this never happened. I always not talk about this. Here I am all these years later on national radio in for DP telling the story. But yeah, that's maybe why you stay away from somebody's movies, because they're heart tuggers and you got to be in a mood form, right, And to prove that, ask me the last time I watched The Notebook. It was with Barnando in the early two thousands at my townhouse that I no longer own, for which feels like a lifetime ago. Right, So I think that's really why a lot of guys stay away from things like this, because it gets too emotional sometimes or catches you off guard. 00:07:28 Speaker 3: Like what the heck am I watching here? 00:07:29 Speaker 2: Here, I'm all welling up, like I'm pussing boots, crying with my body's like. 00:07:32 Speaker 4: A straight up romance movie. The rom coms that Rich are talking about sometimes have dumb plots and you know storylines like Rich never been kissed? Isn't that the one where she goes back to the. 00:07:43 Speaker 2: True Barrymore is like a grown up and she goes back to school. I'm not putting that has an affair with the teacher, you know. When it comes to these, I think Drew Barrymore is on a few of the ones that I tolerate. Like, you know, if you want to throw the wedding singer in there, that's just one of the best wedding singer. Would you mean? It's gopy, but it's one of the best. 00:08:00 Speaker 3: Fifty first dates. 00:08:01 Speaker 2: I mean, that's what I thought you were gonna say, fifty first dates. Wedding scene You picture Sean Aston in that uh mess shirt. That's a good one too, though, Yeah it is. So we're taking your phone calls this is where we get you involved. 00:08:12 Speaker 3: We set you up. 00:08:13 Speaker 2: Loving Basketball came out on this day in the year two thousand. So other romantic comedies, romantic movies that you tolerate. Even the toughest guy says, Yeah, that's a good one. And if you're it's sort of a guilty pleasure. And that doesn't have to be You don't have to be guilty about it. I find nothing guilty about these movies because I love them all. If you're an exception, Rich loves Oh can I do? I have to say it, but one of the worst movies ever. Rich was like, you gotta watch it, and I watched it and I wanted to I wanted to punch myself in the nards after watching this movie. And he talks about it once a year every year. Oh, I know what's coming, and it makes me want to vomit. You mean the best, Yeah, you mean the best Christmas movie there is. I almost like, it's not a Christmas. 00:09:04 Speaker 3: Movie, it's the worst movie. 00:09:06 Speaker 2: He tries to tells me, it's the greatest Christmas movie, and it's the worst. It's not a Christmas movie, and it's the whole point of the movie is to count out to Christmas. You ask clowns and and and that movie is called Love actually, and it's the weakest thing I've ever seen. But I know that Rich isn't alone. There's a whole crew of idiots. I think this is a great movie. Like this is the worst movie. 00:09:26 Speaker 3: I don't care bring it out. That's the movie stinks to the high heavens. 00:09:29 Speaker 2: The worst, Lenny, can I give you a romantic baseball movie? I know this is right up your alley, Yankees fan, all about the Red Sox were on fever Pitch with Jimmy Fallon and Drew Barrymore. I thought that was a likable movie. And I'm not a big Fallon guy, but I thought that was I thought that was a good one. By the way, if I was a Red Sox fan, though, I'd feel weird about them being on the field celebrating like that. No, because don't you remember that they didn't earn it. No, the whole point of the whole point of the movie. This is a little backstory because I you know, Rich Davis, fun fat guy. Fun fact. The movie was supposed to end with Jimmy Fallon and Drew Barrymore falling in love you know, realizing that they were meant for each other. But it was like, even through another disappointing Red Sox season, like love prevailed. And then they had a change whole ending of the movie because the Red Sox actually won the World Series, so that was supposed to be about they were on that field celebrating that. We film it during the because I remember seeing it and like, what's going on? And I'm pretty sure he's a Yankees fan anyway, so that's the disrespect. Well, I got a couple more, got throw him out there. I don't want to take people's answers. I know the phones are hot, but you know what, Rich that was a one and done. I've never seen that movie again. Yeah, I never saw it again either, but I do remember thinking, well, it's about the Red Sox that you'd probably hate it anyway. 00:10:42 Speaker 3: No, I'm not. 00:10:42 Speaker 2: I you know, I'm open to that. I thought that Forgetting Sarah Marshall was one of the better comedies in a long time, and I think we don't give it enough credit. Jason Siegeal, Kristen Bell, Melakunis had her finest Russell brand and Jonah Hill like that was a hell of a good movie. I know that sounds mean, but if you see me Lacunis in this movie and you watch it again, you're like, damn, no, creepo. It's just a fact. And Rich is right. For whatever reason, we I think we slept on it first time round. Maybe you liked it Rich and I watched it a couple ye years ago and and like, yeah, this was way funnier than we Yeah, we were with a bunch of friends just having drinks in that movie. Happened to be on and either it was the alcohol, the edibles or something. But and it's a love story based on a true story. We were all cracking up. Isn't there full frontal nudity in that movie? Yeah, Jason Siegal's hug. 00:11:37 Speaker 6: That is crazy. Also doesn't he say this in the movie this is my nightmare? Yes, that's where I got that from. 00:11:43 Speaker 3: M Yeah. 00:11:44 Speaker 2: Now, Cavino has missed all of these. I don't know how, probably because he's such a tough Jersey guy. And his answer would probably be I was out dating or getting tail or, I was too busy being a sports hero. He missed all the Tom Hanks Sleepless in Seattle, You've got mail, all those all those great top hangs with you. How do you expect those movies to resonate with the nineties kid who came up watching Clockers and good Fellas And you can't appreciate I can't appreciate Scarface on DVD because gang movies were a big part of that time period. So you tell me you can't. You tell me you can't like good Fellas, and you got me, and I can't. I'm saying I was a kid that leaned into those movies. So Sleepless in Seattle was like not that was like my girlfriend's movie. 00:12:29 Speaker 3: I'm not watching. 00:12:29 Speaker 2: Telling me that you can't like all those movies, that's like saying you can't like a black Jake, White Jack agent chick. We all say that's immaturity, and that's fine. I'll take that. Testosterone was raging. Yeah, I was leaning into that. 00:12:41 Speaker 3: I needed some American history works. 00:12:44 Speaker 5: Make me. 00:12:45 Speaker 3: I don't have time for you got mail that time? 00:12:48 Speaker 2: I can't. I can't roll but hold on now, I would watch it if I can't roll my eyes enough at you, dude. 00:12:54 Speaker 3: That's just the honest truth. Do you sound like a nerd to me? 00:12:57 Speaker 2: But the nerd yes, you're watching you watching You've got Mail, and I'm like, bro, let's watch blood In, Blood Out? And you're like, no, how about Tom Hanks? And I'm like, how about blood in Blood Out? Okay, so you don't see like my I was just in a different place. Then, dude, you really took the Voto local for everything serious I did. But it was then then then now, of course I would watch that. I would, yeah, a little bit. Yeah, of course, testosterone is not as high. 00:13:22 Speaker 4: You know, one of the first ones I remember as a kid, the Princess Bride. You think about it, that's not obviously essential? 00:13:30 Speaker 2: Do you know that? You tell you I've never seen it. I'm like, you've never saw the Princess I mean I know who's in it. And dude, I have to do something about Andre the Giant today for the History Channel, so I'm very well aware. 00:13:42 Speaker 7: Do you know? 00:13:42 Speaker 2: Do you know? Do you know that Andre the Giant story from Princess Bride? Yes, with Rob Reiner? Sorry, yes, it was the late Rob Reiner. I totally forgot. I forgot that was terrible Billy Crystal. Rob Reiner and Billy Crystal. There's a story that during the filming of Princess Bride. I gotta get the exact number. But I under the tank and I've seen clips and I know the movie. I just never have seen the whole thing. 00:14:09 Speaker 4: Well, you got that got homework, like late eighties, love love It, loving basketballs on your list now and you come on the Princess Bride. 00:14:16 Speaker 3: You gotta watch it from start to stop. 00:14:18 Speaker 6: That was always the movie when we were taking like a you know, I was in show choir, so we would bust to different venues and stuff, and we always were like, we watched that. 00:14:25 Speaker 2: Movie because that was like, you know, kid, My girlfriend said the same thing, Sam. She said, like if there was like a rainy day at school and they couldn't go out for recess or whatever, that was like the movie or like if the matter was direct. Yeah, she said the same thing, Princess Rod. 00:14:39 Speaker 3: Yeah. 00:14:39 Speaker 2: And that's also again ninety three percent on Rotten Tomatoes. I mean, people love nineteen eighty seven. You know who narrate it? No Colombo, Peter Fuk. 00:14:49 Speaker 4: Was telling Fred Savage's grandfather that was I. 00:14:52 Speaker 2: Mean, that's his narration alone. Where was Billy Crystal in that movie? He was like the like the little Goblin guy or something. Okay, So this goes during the filming of Princess Bride, Andre the Giant had a record breaking sixteen second long fart that cleared the set. And it's like a legendary story where Andre when you think of how long sixteen seconds is, and then he said something like sorry, like sorry, oh it was in this big Andre the Giant sixteen seconds. How long sixteen seconds is? It's a long ast time. A young Robin Right is in that movie. And by the way, Andre the Giant was so you know, done at that point in his life, like he had no strength, he was so injured and hurt and everything that they actually he couldn't even catch her in the moment as the story goes, you know that scene where she's fallen from the sky, she had to be like dropped down on cables because he wasn't even strong enough to lift her at that point. But the Lovable Giant. Also that dude from Liar Liars in it, right, isn't that the dude from Liar Liar Carrie carry is Elwis Ways all, I hear great things about it, but I never saw it. So you know, I'm not saying it's the weakest movie. I'm just saying I never saw it, all right, eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox. I do this every Thursday on our show. We're in for Dan Patrick. Let's get everybody involved. Rich, I'm gonna throw you one more and then we'll go straight to the phones. He was, I believe, a sports agent in the movie, and I thought it was really funny, how to Lose a Guy in Ten Days? Kate Hudson, Oh. 00:16:32 Speaker 3: You're gonna see Erry mcgwuh. 00:16:33 Speaker 2: Yeah. I think Jerry McGuire's going to which is also kind of he was a sports marketing guy. 00:16:38 Speaker 3: That's what it was. 00:16:39 Speaker 2: But Matthew McConaughey and Kate Hudson both playing like dating games with each other, and like his name was Ben and the Benny boo BENNI boo boo boo, Like there was everything about that movie I thought was like fun I thought that was a good movie, which one how to Lose a guy in ten Days? In the same vein also never you've never seen how to Lose a Gun ten Days? I might have, dude, I don't know which what did you have a question? I'm telling you, bro, No, it didn't resonate with a young me. Hey, just listen to me one second. I won't go to the phones. I can't understand. What what did you watch with girlfriends? 00:17:15 Speaker 3: Gang movies? 00:17:16 Speaker 2: You made your gun? I got some poison for the spider, but for tomorrow I see tomorrow. 00:17:24 Speaker 3: Ho where'd you get that black? Give me some showing shown. 00:17:27 Speaker 2: That sounds like you must have been You think. 00:17:29 Speaker 3: Your big time, I'll show you big time? 00:17:32 Speaker 2: Come on, bro? Can I also mention another movie? But I was saying, I'm just baffled because I'm thinking, like in the nineties and two thousands, when I was in high school, in college and in my labor, It's like it just wasn't I'm not saying that these are bad movies. Don't see I'm a grown up now. I'm with you. Let's watch them, dude. But what I'm saying is, but you know what, You're just as bad. 00:17:50 Speaker 3: Why won't you watch Bloody and blood Out? I watched? Nah, you never saw Cockers may. 00:17:55 Speaker 2: Be white on the outside, but I'm brown on the inside. 00:17:57 Speaker 3: To the moon, I've seen blood and blood Out. 00:17:59 Speaker 2: But I will say this, I can't imagine you being a guy in your teens and twenties dating, having a girl over to watch a movie going a blockbuster? You you made girls watch your gang movies? Yeah, dude, yeah back then. Yeah that was the worst. I really was. I'll admit it. I was selfish. Why do you think I was single all the time? 00:18:17 Speaker 3: It's for real. 00:18:17 Speaker 2: We're gonna watch Saving Private Ryan. What are you? Geez I? Let's go to the phones in for Dan Patrick Cavito. Rich, what rom coms and romantic movies as a grown man do you vouch for? 00:18:30 Speaker 3: Let's start in Las Vegas with Trip. 00:18:32 Speaker 2: It's up, Trap Trip in Vegas. 00:18:35 Speaker 8: Good morning, gentlemen. 00:18:36 Speaker 3: How are you all to day? 00:18:36 Speaker 9: Brother? 00:18:37 Speaker 8: Hey, I can't believe Rich didn't say broke Back Mountain. But anyway, uh, that's romance. 00:18:43 Speaker 6: I saw a movie in theaters with my mom. 00:18:54 Speaker 2: Hold up, Oh what would ever bring Iowa Sam and his mom to Broke Back? 00:19:00 Speaker 10: Man? 00:19:00 Speaker 2: I think my mom was like, I want to see this movie. You're coming with me? 00:19:03 Speaker 6: It was a matinee and so yeah, it's a good movie. 00:19:07 Speaker 2: I mean, you know, it awkward as hell. 00:19:10 Speaker 6: It's like one scene that was pretty awkward, but I'm just like, I can't imagine. 00:19:14 Speaker 3: It's actually a. 00:19:15 Speaker 2: Very sad, tragic film. And I seen it I've never seen it. I mean I would watch it. I was like, I didn't know what it was about. My mom was like, you gotta come with me. 00:19:22 Speaker 3: So you know. 00:19:23 Speaker 4: Will Ferrell was on the DP Show last Friday and he said that he passed up the role in that movie. 00:19:30 Speaker 2: Of which character. 00:19:32 Speaker 3: Well, Sam, I don't think he was being serious. Oh okay. 00:19:34 Speaker 2: I was like, well, okay, the guy that makes sense coming from Will Ferrell, the top I don't know all right. 00:19:41 Speaker 3: Back to Trip, both Cowboys. Trip had a couple of movies. 00:19:45 Speaker 8: Uh, I got a couple, So we'll go when Harry met Sally, Crazy stupid love. And then one of my favorites is Return to Me with David Duchovny and Minnie Driver, where his wife's eyes and then he donates the heart to a girl and it's heard. He doesn't know it's heard, and he's kind of fall in love. It's a really good romantic comedy. 00:20:05 Speaker 3: That sounds sounds complicated. 00:20:06 Speaker 2: Honestly, it sounds like really emotional. I don't know if I can handle that. 00:20:09 Speaker 1: It is. 00:20:10 Speaker 2: There are some good ones. Hey, you know what, you know what I saw this somehow. I probably probably to a piece of Girlfriend night because it's nineteen ninety five, right, so it was probably like, do you want to go see A Walk in the Clouds? And I was like, wow, that was a miserable movie. She's like Kean News in it. I'm like, all right, he's kind of cool, I guess. And I remember seeing that movie. I remember liking it a little bit. And let's go to Florida Fort Myers. 00:20:35 Speaker 3: Not a whole lot I could add to this conversation. Honestly, this is a rough one. 00:20:40 Speaker 2: This is a rough conversation for such a badass Steve Covino. 00:20:43 Speaker 3: As far as I can remember, I always wanted to be a gangster. 00:20:46 Speaker 2: You should have walked in the Clouds. 00:20:47 Speaker 6: Yes, then there's another one called A Walk to Remember, which is another romance Drameda. 00:20:52 Speaker 2: That's what Mandy Moore? 00:20:53 Speaker 11: Right? 00:20:53 Speaker 2: And Moore? 00:20:54 Speaker 9: No? 00:20:55 Speaker 2: What was the other one? What was that goofy one where Matthew Perry's in the Mexican family over Sudden too? You know what I'm talking about? Right, of course, I remember seeing a few and far between, but I saw that one. 00:21:06 Speaker 3: Rich. I'm just trying to relate, dude, trying to relate to you. 00:21:10 Speaker 2: Bro, Leave me alone, all right? Back to the Phones eighty seven, seven ninety nine on Fox. Because Love and Basketball came out today, twenty twenty six years ago. Other romantic movies or comedies that that. 00:21:23 Speaker 3: You liked, All right, let's go to forte. Even the toughest guy has to admit it was good. Scott Hey, what's up? Scott? 00:21:30 Speaker 5: Hey? 00:21:31 Speaker 9: Guys, good morning. 00:21:31 Speaker 2: What's up? 00:21:32 Speaker 3: Brother? 00:21:33 Speaker 9: Hey. Also, the first thing I'm gonna say is for anybody that has not seen The Princess Bride, is if it's kind of like somebody who's in the food service industry that's never watched Waiting. 00:21:45 Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, I like Waiting. I worked at Bennegan's, so that resonated. 00:21:49 Speaker 3: By the way fools rush in, I just remembered. 00:21:51 Speaker 2: Yeah, fool with Matthew Perry. I saw that a few times. You know, I've seen some of them, but again, it was a bonehead kid from Jersey. You think I like that stuff? I did not. Now I'm sure I would like it and appreciate it a lot more. So I'm open to all this. Thanks me. I was just a rom coms and romantic movies were part of like what you watched with girls when you were trying to like, Yeah, let's rent the movie and like, you know, you're trying to get it on you, like, let's rent the movie a blockbuster back in the day, or yeah, rich Stream, I saw the beginning of a lot of these movies. 00:22:23 Speaker 3: The original Netflix and Chilly Scott thereon. Fort Myers wasn't then. He had a couple of movies to get it, buddy, all right. 00:22:30 Speaker 9: So first one, we've got Happy Gilmore. 00:22:33 Speaker 2: Oh yeah, Oh Virginia, Oh yeah, Okay. 00:22:41 Speaker 9: The second one you guys already said it. But Jerry maguire has the classic romance in there between Cuba Gooding Junior and Tom Cruise. 00:22:51 Speaker 2: And Renees Eliger. You had me at hello and some great football season you had me. Yeah, by the way, you had me at hello was a famous line. He does that whole romance speech. 00:23:00 Speaker 4: For yel Chesney turned it into a song. So you we'll get that, all right. Let's go to Dayton, Ohio. 00:23:06 Speaker 2: Barry, Hey, Barry, Hey, Barry, Can I call you Bornando? Yeah, Hi, Barry, I would do it. 00:23:14 Speaker 11: We got one from twenty thirteen, kind of on on the musical side, begin again. I don't know if you guys heard of it. Kind of an underrated sneaky cast, Kira Nightley, Mark Ruffalo, Adam Levine, Adam. 00:23:31 Speaker 2: That's a good, good cast right there. That holds up at eighty three percent on Rotten Potatoes, which was the name of that one. Again, see I'm taking note again again, I'm again, begin again, begin again. 00:23:41 Speaker 6: I'm looking at some of these late nineties, early two thousands scores on Rotten Tomatoes. 00:23:44 Speaker 2: They do not hold up well. This movie does. I think a lot of people. You said it earlier, Cavino, but Wedding Singer has got to be in everyone's top five, right, I think so. I mean, because it's just such a great movie. But it is a movie of romance. 00:24:00 Speaker 4: One from two thousand and seven in Julia GOOLI watched it countless times. Knocked up seth Rogen, oh yeah, and of course the famous stories of Catherine heigelbing a nightmare on that set. 00:24:12 Speaker 2: I've absolutely seen that one. See I got, I got, I got a few that uh I've watched with the WIFEI or even at some of these, I feel like I watched. I feel like, I mean not to discredit my wife, but I feel like there was a time where you weren't just streaming shows on Netflix and HBO and Paramount and you know Hulu, where like a big part of the culture was girlfriend or girls you were dating, you'd go rent the movie. And I feel like so many of these movies I oh, my wife ain't listening, remind me of other women I dated because that was the lifestyle that was. You rent the movie on a Friday night with a girl you're dating, nous, you know, to move us back. Then if your girlfriend had like a little pain in the nose picking brother, you rent them a video game just to get him out of your face, my face. How about this? You know what else keeps coming up? La La Land twenty sixteen. I've seen he see as I got older, I'll hear you with three goodies. We'll take your feedback. 00:25:13 Speaker 3: Next. 00:25:13 Speaker 2: Then I want to get to a bunch of NFL. There's there's two NFL stories, actually two NFL stories and one story about soccer and tailgating that has people up in arms. Uh all that man? Let me let me throw three at the proposal with Ryan Reynolds and Sandra Bullock. Have you seen that one? No? Of course. Hope thirteen going on thirty with a very fun Jennifer Garner and Mark Ruffalo. I think I've seen that one and a really good one with Reese Witherspoon and Mark Ruffalo. Just like Heaven where She's. 00:25:52 Speaker 6: Like a ghost was Mark Ruffalo and hey, they were in all these Mark ruff like Brianna Ruffalo. 00:25:59 Speaker 2: I don't like anyone Ruffle. 00:26:01 Speaker 3: I'm a Rustle fan. 00:26:02 Speaker 2: Ruffle. How random is that? 00:27:05 Speaker 3: Wait, and she's still with you and she's still with me. 00:27:09 Speaker 2: How funny is that? 00:27:09 Speaker 3: Though? 00:27:10 Speaker 2: Right? Imagine seeing Fabio. I can never cut his hair. 00:27:12 Speaker 6: He had long hair, right, He's like, I have he didn't he represent I can't believe it's not butter Yes, yeah, And he's like's. 00:27:20 Speaker 3: On my own on Fabio? 00:27:21 Speaker 2: Do you remember when he got hit in the face by a bird on a roller coaster? By the way, two days ago this happened. She's like, He'll never guess who I ran into. And I was like, Fabio, She said, how'd you know? I was like, I don't know, because you said I never guess. I didn't know he was a real person. So anyway, we're talking about romantic movies. But gotta tell you first that we're Cavino and rich In for Dan Patrick. We're gonna talk about tailgating next. So stick around live from the Fox Sports Radio studio, and the picture coming in Draft Night isn't just about who gets called, It's about who shows up. So grab your crew and crack a Miller light and be there for every moment that matters. Miller Light legendary moments start with a light. Now back in the day, Rich, when Love and Basketball came out, Well, that's the reason why rom coms and romantic movies came up, because Love and Basketball came out on this day in the Yeah, two thousand and six years ago. On our show Covino and Rich, every Thursday, we throw it back, we get you involved. We do something called old school and fifty hits. You know, when this movie came out, I really was this is no joke. I was really into like gang movies, and that was part of the culture. I'm not like, you're the crazy guy to me. That wasn't like I'm not bad because I was. I was a young idiot guy from Jersey. I'm just saying all these nineties and two thousand's rom coms specifically to me. But I wasn't watching Omar Epps in Love and Basketball. I was watching Omar Epps and Juice How Far You Will You Go to Get It? With Tupac? And I'm just saying, I feel like all the movies I'm bringing up there never seen it were all the movies I rented a Blockbuster with high school and college girlfriends, And I'm like, what did you watch with girls then chellas bro because because leiotis from my hometown of Union, and I love the story and. 00:29:01 Speaker 3: There was love in that movie. 00:29:04 Speaker 2: Why did you do that for a carriage with Janie ROSSI was romance, But I'm just saying, you love Janie Ross. You were just you were just a selfish guy that made people live your life. Well, hold on, let me explain, and let me give you one that ties both worlds together that I'm not sure you've ever seen. I'm gonna blow your mind. It's a gang movie, but really a love story. And that's called a bronx tail and it still holds up. 00:29:27 Speaker 8: Yeah. 00:29:28 Speaker 2: I watched that with my my daughter recently and and she loved it. It's about interracial love, it's about gangs. It's it's still good. The nero colojurero No. I just I just feel like all those rom coms, all those Chaz Palmer Teery, all those Mark Ruffalo or Matthew McConaughey movies, those are all just so so memorable to me because they just represent a time of you know, being young and dating. And I just can't imagine going to a blockbuster with a girl when I was like twenty being like, let's rent the Gang movie like you you rent the rom com and set the movie. 00:29:59 Speaker 4: This is right, you're Ali Rich. How have we not said j Loo she was in so many of these wedding in Manhattan, Monster in Law. She's sort of a trash actress. I don't I don't find her likable as an actress a wedding planner. 00:30:14 Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm not. I'm not a fan. I think I think I don't think Jalo is my steeze when it comes to acting. 00:30:21 Speaker 3: And I think I got the number one answer, would you see Titanic as a watch as Hallmark Channel? 00:30:26 Speaker 2: Man, I've seen Titanic. Come on, I mean, it's got to be the best answer possible. If you didn't see Titanic and you guys in there, it would have been remarkable. You're going to compare the Princess Bride the Titanic. But like you haven't seen a lot of big movies. You're breaking that you saw Titanic. Every hue Titanic. I'm the guy who hasn't seen a lot of these, but I got the number one answer on the ball. By the way, Happy anniversary. This was the week the Titanic sunk. Happy anniversary? Is it really? Yeah? I don't know if it's a happy anniversary, but just nineteen twelve, you know what, Let's go rapid fire through these phones. There's one though that Yeah, I'll save it. I think it might be one of the more underrated quote romantic movies. 00:31:08 Speaker 4: What do we got to You gotta go fast to a cross. Let's start with Billy and Orlando. 00:31:12 Speaker 2: What's up, man, guys, you're dropping the ball. 00:31:15 Speaker 5: Summer Catch, Jessica. 00:31:16 Speaker 2: Bill, Summer Catch. That's Freddy Prince and Jessica Bill. Good one. I've seen those highlights. Highlights, Yeah, Jessica Bill, But you never saw the movie. 00:31:25 Speaker 3: No, rich What was the other Freddy Prince Junior one? 00:31:27 Speaker 2: Can Harley Wade? 00:31:28 Speaker 3: Yeah, there you go. 00:31:29 Speaker 2: See that. That's like a teen comedy to me or something. I've seen that for sure. 00:31:33 Speaker 3: All right, let's go to Boise. 00:31:34 Speaker 2: I'm sorry, not Can Harley. She's all that. She's all that. That's right, Harley Wade. Jennifer more of a good teen movie, But she's all that. The funny part about that was the girl was super hot. She took over glasses and all of a sudden, like we pretended like now, she's hot so dumb? 00:31:50 Speaker 3: All right, James and Boise James, Hello, what's up? 00:31:56 Speaker 10: Hey? 00:31:56 Speaker 12: How you guys? Doing excellent show? By the way, thanks Saking. Always thinking Prince under the Cherry Moons. He was hilarious in that movie, Prince. 00:32:08 Speaker 4: Yeah, and also Purple Rain. Yeah, of course, of course, Apollonia. 00:32:13 Speaker 2: M all right, back to the phones, because all right, I'm thinking so many different Let's go to Jesse and Iowa he Jessey. 00:32:18 Speaker 13: Jess, Hey, good morning, guys. 00:32:21 Speaker 5: Have anyone said the movie Drive. 00:32:25 Speaker 2: Drives a good one? Let's keep it wrong, all right? 00:32:28 Speaker 3: Troy and Tennessee t Roy. 00:32:29 Speaker 2: What's up? 00:32:31 Speaker 1: Hey? 00:32:31 Speaker 5: What's going on? Your great show? Love what you're doing out here? Also wanted to hit a key rom com here what happens in Vegas? I'm gonna go through the cast really fast for you. Okay, well, some of the key points here. Cameron Diaz, Ashton Kutcher, Jason Tadakas, Zach gallifan Akis, Dennis Miller plays the judge, and then you have Dennis Furriana or whatever I mean. He looks like a like dollar General version of Burt Reynolds. But you can trick yourself into thinking that's Burt Reynolds and that's a great rom com. 00:32:59 Speaker 2: I'm telling it that is that is a really good one. I'll give you that one. 00:33:02 Speaker 4: Yeah, he said, Cameron, is that made me think of long k Mary. Uh, something about Mary, something about Along Came Paul. That was the one I wrote down. Two movies I've seen and I enjoy both. 00:33:14 Speaker 2: Along Came Polly with Ben Stilled and Jennifer Aniston is such an underrated movie. I every time he's comfortable. Every time Caveno jokingly dances, he's really just doing that Ben. There's a clip of me and Iowa Sam at our party in Vegas, and I'm doing that dance and it's on my TikTok page. Front to see it when Steve Covina when Jennifer Andison brings Ben Stiller out salsa dancing and he's so awkward and he ends up like backing up into like a speaker. 00:33:42 Speaker 3: That is so fun. I was doing that dance. 00:33:44 Speaker 2: So I've seen some of. 00:33:44 Speaker 3: These funny ones. 00:33:45 Speaker 2: That was a good one. 00:33:47 Speaker 1: Along Polly. 00:33:48 Speaker 2: I hate how you judge me because I want to be like, have you ever seen Judgment Night? I have to judge now you have it and I'm like, get out of my face. You tell me what I've seen. No, I know what you've seen. You know. In Along Came Polly, we learned about the story of the Hippopotamoose. Remember John was it like that was just no, no, no, it was Hank is Zary was ripped and he was, you know, sleep with the guy Ben Siller's wife in the boat. That was a great movie, all right. Back to the phone, rain Drop. 00:34:17 Speaker 3: Let's go to seth in Long Beach, California. 00:34:21 Speaker 13: Hey, guys, when I was younger, I went to Blockbuster Video to get cool Runnings and when I opened it up a little cassette tape it was The Joy Luck Club. And we sat there at home alone and cried my eyes out because it's a beautiful movie. 00:34:35 Speaker 2: I've never even seen that one that's really funny I have. I'm not going to drag this on, but there was a like a movie's that rock Temptations movie that v H one played all the time, and I thought it was so good and I wanted my mom to see it. I'm like, Mom, you love it's about the Temptations, The Temptations. I went to Blockbuster and they gave me temptations and it was like a soft core pornm. 00:35:00 Speaker 3: Oh is that you gave me? 00:35:01 Speaker 2: I was terrible right up there with Sam watching broke Back Mount with his mom. 00:35:04 Speaker 3: By the way, I have a question, is Shallow Howl in this category? Because I love that movie. That's a good one. 00:35:10 Speaker 2: Yeah for sure, because he falls in love and he realizes something about himself a good lesson. Yeah, and Ron Darling's in it, so it ties into sports. Ron Darling isn't it. But he's the handsome version of a waiting guy. Remember you know, starring Ron Darling. So it sounded great calling the game with Joe Buck. Did you hear that? The the national combo of Joe Buck and Ron Darling? Can I say something really controversial though? In the movie there's a diving board scene where she's supposed to be a bigger from today's point of view, she's not that big. From today she's big, not that big. Yeah, it's it's a different world we live, Yeah for sure. 00:35:48 Speaker 3: Let's wrap things up with Jay and Delaware. 00:35:50 Speaker 10: Hey Jay, Hey, Tyler's I'm a normal Dan Patrick caller and I love it when you guys still in But a couple of quick movies along the lines of Love Basketball, how about Stayed the Last Dance. 00:36:02 Speaker 12: That was a great movie when I was younger. 00:36:05 Speaker 10: And Friends with Benefits with Melachrinis and Justin Timberlake, pretty good rob. 00:36:10 Speaker 2: Friends with Benefits with Coonis who's super hot? Wasn't there like another movie just like it? I was gonna say Friends with Benefits was? So it was Coonis and Timberlake Friends with Benefits at like within a year, No Strings Attached came out, which was Kutcher and someone else. But it was like the same movie. It's like it's like they had the same exact script, and it was like, who could do the movie first? Gotta be early two thousands, kind of cookie cutter, it was. It was Portman. Yeah, well ahead, there you go. Some rom coms on the anniversary. Maybe these are other State Night movies. If you are anything like me, you might not have seen a lot of those, right, so maybe you check them out and enjoy. And we talked about it because Love and Basketball came out out on this day and we're loving basketball. Steph Curry Big Night last Night. Now coming up? Oh, I see what you did there? Coming up? Uh, this is the fun of Covino Rich we could pivot from rom coms to tailgating just like that. There's a wild tailgating story and it has to do with FIFA and soccer and the World Cup, and we'll get to that next. People are up in arms more CNR coming up. 00:37:21 Speaker 1: Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in the nation. What is Chuck and Larry? Oh wait, that's a samdor Kevin james On. Oh yeah, I also saw that in theaters with my mom. 00:38:28 Speaker 3: Just kidding, right, you know what I mean. 00:38:33 Speaker 2: Now, we had a lot of fun, I'm kidding, but we didn't have time to talk about OnlyFans. 00:38:36 Speaker 3: We'd have time to talk about logos. You brought up logo. 00:38:40 Speaker 2: So two things on our bonus pot today and perfect because video layers and uncensored will help this. We got to talk about Shannon Elizabeth. Elizabeth from American Pie twenty seven years later is starting an only fans, so we got to talk some OnlyFans, and on our bonus pod we can be uncensored, so we'll talk about that later today. Let's talk about it. 00:39:34 Speaker 2: Tailgating. By the way, that rob come thing you brought up Shallow how to I'm just reading all the feedback, so much great feedback. Really appreciate you guys more than you'd ever know, Tony Kay, says Covino bringing up shallow. How hilarious. All I could picture is Castanza with a tail. Remember his characters a little nubby tail. I remember she jumps in the pool and a little kid goes in the tree. Remember that's a great movie. And of course Ron Darling at his at his best. Some people say, how about when he won a World Series. I'm like, how about in challahow Well tailgating. We're gonna get to more tomorrow as well. But let me set this up for you. FIFA Soccer World Cup. There's a lot of people freaking out like they're much to mean, We're indy savage freak out. People freaking out about the tailgate situation. Depending on the city, people were saying FIFA and the World of Soccer are saying no tailgating. 00:40:29 Speaker 4: Yeah, but FAS come out and said that this is wrong, this report is wrong. 00:40:34 Speaker 2: It's a wrong report. In fact, the first stadium to be like, nah, they'll be drinking and partying. The link in Philadelphia. Philadelphia is like World Cup's gonna be here. We are definitely drinking. However, I'm still seeing that Gillette up in the New England area might be having no tailgating. 00:40:55 Speaker 3: They might not. 00:40:55 Speaker 4: Gelett you tailgate, Sam, You're on fire now, you know, play them on yourself. 00:41:02 Speaker 2: Tomorrow we'll set this up. We'll complete this on the Dan Patrick hat trick. When you think about tailgating, how important do you feel like tailgating is to the stadium ballgame experience if you're more of an American thing. From what I'm understanding, I. 00:41:17 Speaker 3: Was gonna say, the rest of the FIFA world doesn't even really understand. 00:41:20 Speaker 2: What's the big dude. And what's great is Danny found the clip and this is this is a great little teast for tomorrow. There's a clip of a European broadcast where they're like, what's is tailgating? Explain it? Like they don't even know what tailgating is. So the importance of tailgating at a football game in a baseball stadium parking? How necessary? How necessary? It seems to be like a major priority, and like, would you really be that bummed out if you went to a game and there was no tailgating? Is tailgating such a part of the culture for you? Let me make this clear, though, you could still buy an alcoholic beverage inside, right, No, yeah, I'm is it that big of a deal because people are losing. 00:42:00 Speaker 4: That's what some stadiums want you to do, Like Dodgers don't even let you tailgate it. 00:42:03 Speaker 2: That's why people have koozies, right, why people have those fake cans that look like Coca Cola. 00:42:08 Speaker 3: That's why you got your beer helmet. 00:42:10 Speaker 2: I go tomorrow, we'll talk tailgating, and of course a bunch of NFL will talk NBA playans. Until then. Thank you, Danet's thank you Dan Patrick A Rivendecci. 00:42:19 Speaker 3: Baby, see you in the Promised Land. 00:42:21 Speaker 2: Have a great one. Thank you.
