Let me tell y'all something. I started watching The Real Housewife of OC because of Tamra. Let's be clear. She was the right amount of mess but funny, and she brought something so different to the OC franchise that the moment I laid eyes on this blonde bombshell, I was hooked. And what's so funny is this is my first time meeting Tamra, and when I say to you, it won't be the last because she and I became the best of friends after this interview. We text talk shit almost every single day. I love her. She is now one of my favorite people in the world. I really cannot wait until you, guys take in this conversation. You're going to see a very different side of Tamra Judge. You single handedly tammera change the way Housewives was organized and orchestrated? Do you accept that?

Speaker 1: I didn't even realize it, honestly until I read part of the book that came out. Did Quinn's book All Not All Diamonds and Rose and I'm like, all the producers gave me so many, so much credit and props for kind of changing things and putting housewives on the map.

Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, it's a funny story. It had only been on for two years. I knew about it because it was, you know, right in my backyard filming, and my girlfriend and I lived next door to each other, and we were on AOL I am. I was in my office, she was in her office, and we're drinking wine chatting on there and she's like, oh my gosh, look at this.

Speaker 1: You should go. And I'm like, hell no, why the fuck would I want to do that. I go, I'm not interesting, I'm not exciting. I don't really do anything. I'm just I'm an actual housewife. And I had my real estate license, I did a part time. My kids were so little that I thought there's just no way, so jokingly I filled it out like a I don't know, an eighteen year old horny boy and just totally I didn't send pictures, nothing. And they called me immediately and they're like, hey, we got your application.

Speaker 1: And I'm like, oh my god, really, So I tell Simon, you know my husband at the time. Simon, I'm like, HOUSEEC wants to interview me. And I thought he'd be like no, this is a hard no. And he's like, oh, call him, and I'm like okay. So I called him. They came over, they interviewed me. They sent me like a stack of paper. They gave me a stack of papers. I'm hundreds of papers for me to fill out, and I just threw him in the drawer.

Speaker 1: Then they called me back like two weeks later. I was like, hey, do you fill those papers? I'm like no, and they're like, can we come over again. I'm like sure. So they met my kids and my husband at the time and all that, and then next thing I know, they're like, hey, you got it. I'm like what, shut the fuck up. He's like no, you fucking got it. I'm like shit, like wow, and then the rest is history. And that was sixteen seventeen years.

Speaker 2: Ago, and you were iconic then you're iconic now. I remember watching you and my favorite season was when Gretchen came, come on, hold on to.

So that's why when you were fired, and I love that you're like, say fire like I was fire, guys, like I'm not one of those housewops, like, well, you know, it's a mutual decision, like no, a bitch was fired, a bit was fired, you know what I mean. And I listened to your story about the phone call that was placed, and I gotta be honest with you. I felt so bad for you because I do this for a living and I look at someone like you who literally gave everything to that show I did, and you were so transparent, you left nothing on the table. Then the crew loved you, and you were so respectful of the crew to receive a phone call that you were not asked back in that very moment. Did you feel betrayed or did you feel like a failure?

Speaker 1: I didn't expect it. They called me to do my you know, the pre filming, they sit with you and talk about what's going on. So that was already scheduled.

Speaker 2: So let me explain that to the audience. So what happens is before a new season starts, for do you start to meet with the cast. We have a one on one meetings with each housewife in their homes or at a restaurant, and we get insight based on what their storyline would be for the upcoming season. So you you went through that entire process.

Speaker 1: Well, I had. I had a schedule for Friday, and they called me on a Sunday or a Saturday and I was camping. I was and I didn't have any cell reception, and I had a bunch of my friends there and and we'd have to drive up to the hill to the road to get cell service. So every so often I would go up there and just to check on the kids or whatever. And I went up there and I saw like these text messages from Alex and Doug, who are are worked for the production company.

Speaker 1: Can you talk? And we need to talk to you. And I said, hey, sorry, I don't have good cell reception, but what's going on they're like, we'd rather say talk to you in person.

In order for me to get good sell reception, I had to drive down the street and I'm in my car and he's like, listen, this is one of the hardest phone calls we've ever had to make. And they're like, Bravo's just going to go in a different direction, and they've offered you three episodes for this season. And I said, are you fucking kidding me right now? And they're like, well, you know, this is what they're off. And I said fuck off and I hung up. I was and I got back to the camp and I was hysterically crying, hysterically like it ruined my last day on my trip. And I'm like, you know, and Eddie's like, yeah, thank god. He was all excited, like listen, you had a good run, you know. But my initial thought was just like devastate, like I felt betrayed. I sent them a text. Thank god it didn't go through because my reception was bad. I'm like, you guys are fucking assholes. I can't believe you did this to me. Your liars what you are? Your liars And it never went through. I don't think because I didn't have any reception. But you know, then, you know, I got a text from Andy. He's like, listen, when you feel better, give me a call. So I got home. I tried to, like, you know, wrap my brain around what is going on. I did feel like a big figure. I felt like I got kicked out of the cool girls club. Yeah, like you know, you're not good enough to sit with us anymore, goes over at that lunch table. Yeah, and then it was just scary. So I called Andy.

I wasn't allowed to talk about so many things that are going on in my life. Money was flying out the door just to protect myself, you know, to the attorneys and to fight this. And I was scared. I was super scared, so I couldn't.

Speaker 1: Insign I was just like crumbling, and you know, it was just a shitty season for me in the sense that they cut out so much of my stuff. They cut out my business stuff that we filmed multiple We had a big housewife party, you know, at the launch and my my CBD company like all these things. We had meetings there. We had housewives coming in and talking to me like. They cut it all out. They went as far as to blur the bottle even if they saw at my house. And I'm like, as time was going on, I'm like, oh shit, I knew when it was airing, I'm like, they're pushing me out. I knew so and then so I would. That's why I called the producer's liars when I text them, because I'd asked them, I'm like, am I done? Are you pushing me out? Because this is what kind of looks like you're making me look bad. You're like, it's just everything they possibly could have done to make they did.

When it comes to reality TV, Kelly Dodd is a star full stop. When they let go of you and Vicki Bogs, I felt that they are making Kelly Dodd the face of this franchies and they need to bring in new blood to make it the Kelly Dodge Show because every show needs a queen Bee, and I felt that they wanted Kelly to be the queen Bee, not saying that. That's the truth. That's what I got from it. But you didn't feel that way.

If somebody flops, you know this is their last chance, They're gone, right, And so I said, I have this opportunity. It films in May June. So I thought, oh, okay, this is it. We're going to all.

Speaker 2: Okay, this is the straight answer again not saying confirmed sources. But Peacock is a new subscription in the streaming space. In order for Peacock to have subscribers, you need people to sign up, So you need shows on Peacock that is worthy of people spending four ninety nine every month to watch a show, right, because they're not going to watch repeats of all these housewife franchises. So Miami Coming Back from the Dead was was an experiment to see if they were able to get people excited enough to subscribe to Peacock because you need the subscription and because Miami and me and you agree on this was a fantastic season. It now said, Okay, we've built an audience on streaming. So to your point you just made five minutes ago, they now have said because of Miami Housewives and because of Optimist Girls Trip, we've now have proven that an audience will pay to watch content on this platform versus five months until it's on Bravo. That being said, I believe that the legacy of New York would be on Bravo, and I think the reboot is going to be on Peacock.

Because again, the essence of the Housewise franchise was organic friendships, and that's why Miami works. And when you watch Miami, they all know each other. I mean, Gurney was the wedding planner to Alex. It was right. All of those women had a history and that's why you enjoyed it. Even if you come back to the OC, it will still have to make sense in terms of your friendships and not just seeing a bunch of strangers live in a house. That's the real world. I didn't know them very well, but I knew them. Like, put these girls that don't really know each other in a house and just to free for all, like see what happens.

Speaker 1: Yes, and we all you know, I really do you think it's going to be great TV? And Andy keeps gushing about it? You know, it's all in how they edit it and what shows what doesn't show. It was fun, It was a lot of fun, and it was exhausting because we were only there. I can't remember, like seven or eight days or something total. And it was NonStop work and it had the whole feeling of Big Brother because there was cameras everywhere. I'm like, oh shit, so we VICKI and I would be in the kitchen eating cold pizza, you know, talking shit probably and then I look up and I'm like, that camera over there is on and it's moving as I'm moving. So those those are the times that I'm like not looking forward to at all because I'm like, you know, you get jounk, you forget about the cameras.

Speaker 2: Did you find that's sort of reality fun? Because obviously you spend many years on Housewives, where you work a couple of days a week, a few hours a day, and you get to go home and have a life. How did it feel to be not trapped but confined, trapped trapped?

Speaker 1: It was hard. It was like I said, it's a lot of work. It was eighteen hours that we would really film because we were filming constantly, even if the cameras were down. It was literally two at least two crews during the day. Do you know, they work and then another one comes in and you know, not a lot of sleep.

I think that it's going to be more more drama, which you know, and ultimately that's what the fans like. They like the drama, so it's probably going to be more entertaining, but totally different phil from the first one. I liked the first one. I enjoyed it. I thought it was great. It was it's really interesting now. I remember years and years ago Andy saying, you know, one day, when Housewives starts winding down, we're going to take girls from different franchises, throw them on an island and see what happens.

Speaker 1: Yes, I mean I love my dorm I mean long history, sixteen seventeen years I've known him. The hardest thing for me, after you know, acknowledging the fact and absorbing the fact that I wasn't coming back, is missing the crew. That was so hard for me, Like these were guys that were because we pretty much had the same crew the entire time I was filming, and these are guys that are in my house like all the time every day. I mean, I remember my little son who's now twenty one years old, used to make them nachos, And you know, that was hard. That was really tough not being a part of that family anymore and feeling like okay, it's over, and it was just such a huge you know, the cast. Then there was Bravo, going to Bravo and going to watch What Happens Live, and my relationship with Andy and my relationship with all the producers in the camera guy and the audio and the PA and Doug and Alex and all that. That was really so hard for me to not have them in my house.
