And I had a great room of junk, Like literally, it was fifteen to twenty years worth of junk that had just like I would get something and I didn't know what to do with it, I'd just throw it in that room. And it had gotten to the point that it what we're familiar with. That room, it took on a life of its own. It was almost like a monster, and it just kept growing and it became overwhelmed me, right Like, there was so much in there. I could make a strong argument that I never moved out of my Louisville house because I didn't know what to do with that room, all right. So she asked me, if you like, what could you do? And I said, you know, if you wanted to clean out that room, that would be the best thing. Like literally, I would take that over a trust fund, Like, just don't make me deal with that room.

Speaker 2: So, to my mom's credit, over the course of most of the summer, she and Larry would come up, they would go through that wow, and what I told her was basically, leave anything in there that's in a box that's like packed, and leave anything you think I'd want. But if it's just laying around and if it's clothes or books or whatever, and it's just out there, if I haven't seen it in the last fifteen years, I'm probably good with you letting it go.

So my mom gave away something like fifty hoodies right to people in Middlesbrough, like kids in Middlesbroo ye, a lot of shoes, a lot of books, et cetera. And she left all these packages of books that were already boxed and things she thought I would want. So the last two nights I've been in Louis Vall, I was like, I'm gonna go through that stuff. First of all, I not realize how many cities in this state have given us the key to the city. I'd forgotten. Yeah, I'm not kidding you. Probably at least twenty five we are. We can break into this entire state, I mean, Somerset, London, Hopkinsville, Madisonville, Greenup County, like I could just And it was neat and and last night. I read the proclamations like I went through them. I've got them all. At some point I'm going to hang them all up some more. Slow down, No, no, not me. I'm gonna hire somebody to hang them. But I don't know how to hang them up. Sorry, I am not gonna hang them up because I don't know how. But we'll get them put up somewhere because they're kind of neat. That's cool.

I mean, I found my college law journal where I got published. Really, I found like twenty copies of it. Forgot I had those, right, I found when in twenty sixteen I got recruited to run for Congress. And I went to DC and went through that session as to how to run for Congress. And I got to look at all the people that came and talked like some of them have big jobs. I didn't realize that One of the people that went through that class.

Ryan's a surprise to me to see some books owned, and I took something. I'm going to slowly take them to libraries to give them away. Some of them very nice. Some of them I'm going to keep. But I don't need something. Let me give you a few that yesterday. Okay, I decided to give away open one book. I don't know how I have this book, but Drew, this is a book that at this point I had to get out of my house within seconds because I felt like when I pulled it out, it started to make the place smell. Okay, Clay Travis wrote a book about Tennessee football. Why do I have that book? Why would I have a book about from Clay Travis about Tennessee football. It was a season inside Tennessee Football.

Where you try to explain to people how they should live their lives right self self help book and.

I know there's a lot of open wounds with the cal Perry stuff, but I'd be interested. How much of ksr's success would you and drew a tribute to cal Perry. Well that's a good question. I mean right, there is no doubt. I think there's like three leaps that we took in our career. One was when Patrick Patterson and Jay Lucas were being recruited. That put me and KSR the website that was pre drew. That kind of put us on the map. We got interviews with them when nobody else did, and nobody even remembers Jay Lucas, but at the time that was a massive deal. Those of you that remember like their recruitments, we were like, that'll save Tubby Smith or not, and they would really only talk to us. The second leap was definitely Cow, John Wall, DeMarcus Cousins, Cow, and that was probably the biggest leap. And then I actually think the third leap was oddly COVID, because COVID made people who didn't care about sports turn us on. Our ratings leaped during COVID. I think those were the three leaps. The second leap. Cal's a huge part of I think Wall, Cousins and Patterson are the other part of it, but he's a huge part of it. So he definitely I say all the time, when Kyl came here, I decided to stop being a lawyer and do this full time. Would I have done that eventually, Yeah, probably, but Kyl probably made it happen a year or two before it would have otherwise. Yeah.

Speaker 4: For me personally, I joined during the second leap. I've always said that we were a package deal. Cal got here, he signed Wall and Cousins, and then I started with all. I started KSR all in a couple of months of each other. So I like to think the four of us got here at the same.
