00:01:09
Speaker 4: Cards, so.

00:01:11
Speaker 3: A lot of good prizes here before the weekend. Kentucky Vandy tomorrow two thirty. Pregame show will start at noon. So pregame show will start at noon. We'll be showing the game at the bar tomorrow, obviously, and it is a big one. And then of course Sunday is the AFC and the NFC Championship games.

00:01:30
Speaker 4: One person writes, Matt.

00:01:33
Speaker 3: Your prediction about the cost of the eggs was exceptional.

00:01:38
Speaker 4: That it is. I'm big on puns. There's a lot of this.

00:01:43
Speaker 3: It's ex gregious that these things are rising at this thing, that these costs.

00:01:48
Speaker 4: What do you think about that, Shin.

00:01:49
Speaker 5: I think it's too hate puns, don't you know. I like them when they're good. But that's just really bad.

00:01:54
Speaker 3: Why it uses the thing exceptional?

00:01:58
Speaker 6: It's not that funny, all right, You just.

00:02:01
Speaker 4: Have a hard hard time. All right.

00:02:03
Speaker 3: Let's go over really quick in AFC NFC Championship start with the NFC is at three o'clock on Sunday. You got the Commanders and the Eagles. Jaydon Daniels trying to become what is it? Only the third quarterback ever to take his team to the third rookie quarterback ever to make his team fourth to make take his team to super Bowl?

00:02:23
Speaker 4: What do you think?

00:02:24
Speaker 7: Man?

00:02:24
Speaker 2: They got that huge win last weekend winning at Detroit, a team I thought was super Bowl bound for sure. Now they gotta go to at Philly. It's gonna be tough to win that one. I'm gonna take Philly.

00:02:34
Speaker 3: I'm a bet on the Commanders because I think either I think it's toss up and the Commanders are getting six and a half points. So if it's a toss up and I get six and a half, I'm gonna take it.

00:02:43
Speaker 4: We'll pick the Eagles drew, but I think the Commanders cover. What about you?

00:02:47
Speaker 8: Yeah, I was surprised to see that line. I'm doing the same thing. I just I think the Eagles have the edge, they have Saquon Barkley, and they have the crowd. I think they'll be the one moving forward. But it's been amazing what Daniels in Washington have done. Washington, Washington, do you feel this at all?

00:03:01
Speaker 2: I do because they were the same color as my high school burgundy and gold like Central Chargers. So I kind of grew up most of my youth as a Redskins fan.

00:03:08
Speaker 4: But but he's asking you, do you feel like.

00:03:11
Speaker 3: You don't seem excited that your team is potentially playing for the Super Bowl.

00:03:15
Speaker 2: I didn't know if it was six and a half. That's a lot of points, but that's still not answering the question.

00:03:20
Speaker 3: Are you excited about the fact that your team is playing for the Super Bowl?

00:03:25
Speaker 2: Super excited? They haven't been there for and like, what thirty years has been forever since they've been this.

00:03:29
Speaker 4: Far, But you don't sound excited.

00:03:31
Speaker 2: Well, I kind of dumped the Redskins for the Colts when the Colts moved to Indianapolis, So that.

00:03:36
Speaker 4: Was the answer. I was looking. It's the Commanders and you're no longer a fan, is the true That's why I was trying to get out. Yea, all right, So.

00:03:44
Speaker 6: I got there. It just took a while.

00:03:46
Speaker 4: Just like with the Eggs. Okay, what about you? Who you got?

00:03:49
Speaker 5: I would pull for any team over the Eagles. I'm gonna go with the Commanders. Let's go Washington. Hopefully they make the Super Bowl, and I would love to actually see them win the Super Bowl.

00:03:58
Speaker 3: Jaydon Daniels this might be the best per perfemance by a rookie quarterback ever because if you go look at the other guys that had been in the Super Bowl, they were on teams where like the rest of the team was really good, like Joe Flacco, but like the Ravens were stacked everywhere else you had brought Purdy, the rest of the forty nine ers were stacked. That this may be the first time that the quarterback is maybe the reason a rookie team is gone. So you know, then you got the Bills against the Chiefs. Mahomes, Allen, well, Josh Allen, get over the hump Shannon and finally get to a super Bowl and take down the beast of the Kansas City chief.

00:04:37
Speaker 5: I'm hoping so, but I know everybody wants to see Taylor Swift at the Super Bowl, so I think that's probably what's going to end up happening. Unfortunately the Bills and Commanders. That would be a very nineties super Bowl?

00:04:47
Speaker 4: Would it? Would?

00:04:48
Speaker 3: It?

00:04:48
Speaker 4: Would? It would?

00:04:49
Speaker 3: It'd be kind of weird too. I don't think it feels like that would be the super Bowl. But so you're taking.

00:04:54
Speaker 6: I'm gonna I'm gonna take the Chiefs.

00:04:56
Speaker 8: Yeah, I'm rooting for the Bills really hard, but I just you can't pick against Kansas City and Kansas City.

00:05:02
Speaker 4: I mean, there might.

00:05:03
Speaker 8: I'm not someone that really thinks there's a jinks going on, but they do happen to win every game, every close game at home, and I think that will continue again this time.

00:05:11
Speaker 2: Yeah, you're not gonna beat Mahomes in Kansas City in the championship game.

00:05:15
Speaker 3: Burrow did it. It's true, true, Burrow did it once. But you don't think so, no, Jeeves. The stat about Kansas City is amazing. They have been to seven straight AFC Championship game, seven straight. That is that is crazy. Mahomes is going to retire, likely as the best quarterback of all time. It's either gonna be him or Brady when when his career is over. I just and you know, I don't bet. I won't bet this game because I don't bet against Brady or excuse me.

00:05:42
Speaker 4: Against Mahomes. But it just kind of feels like maybe this is where they get.

00:05:48
Speaker 3: But I'm still gonna pick kids, because you know, you can't go against the dude that just doesn't lose, like they don't lose. And then they're at home and all that they just they don't lose.

00:05:58
Speaker 8: We're gonna watch it's gonna get laid in the game. Buffalo is gonna be up three and on third and seventeen, he's gonna find Travis Kelsey in the middlefield. He's gonna turn and run twenty yards and they're gonna score a game winning touchdown late in the fourth.

00:06:09
Speaker 3: Travis Kelsey could be like sixty five years old walking with a cane, and I would still think he would get open on the possession that matters. He gets open every single time. I will say in my lifetime, if you're talking about athletes who in the moment, in a clutch moment, I have more confidence they're gonna come through for me. Jordan Tiger Mahomes, if you're just talking about I know they're gonna make the play.

00:06:39
Speaker 4: Ryan.

00:06:40
Speaker 2: I feel like those are the three of my life. And that's what I'm saying. Man, you got him at home. He just finds a way to win. You just can't beat that guy. And again, a game that has this much magnitude.

00:06:49
Speaker 4: A f I'm nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven.

00:06:51
Speaker 3: Caleb Wilson decided last night at one twenty in the morning. They put him on the set at one twenty a m. Time and he opened up his jacket. Picked Carolina. Kenny Smith goes crazy, top ten recruit, this was gonna be if we got him the best player in our class. Where you disappointed Drew that he picked North Carolin and we knew it was probably common, But were you still disappointed?

00:07:18
Speaker 4: Not in the moment at that point.

00:07:19
Speaker 8: I just I was expecting it, But I am disappointed overall because you know, early in the football season is when kayten Lewis committed and he and Caleb Wilson were very much on Twitter back and forth, you know, come commit here, and it looked like and adding Jasper Johnson that looked like he had a little freshman trio that was very close, and it sounded like even back then it was all but done behind the scenes. So you go a couple months just assuming he's gonna be a part of next year's team, and Carolina in the end wins out. I'm it's different now than it was with cal just because with the portal and the way Pope recruits, it doesn't feel like the end of the world. But I'm not gonna act like I'm not disappointed. I really wanted him to be a part of the team, but I am confident that there's a portal player or something along the line that can still be a good fit.

00:07:59
Speaker 3: If this were five years ago, I'd be devastated. Like if this were five years ago, I would think this is a huge hit for Pope because I think freshman won and done recruiting was massive back then, and I think, especially in the cal Era, you had to get the elite guys. We learned that if he didn't get a top guy, it wasn't happening important. I'm not gonna act like it's not important, because I still want to see Pope go and get a top ten dude, because I think if you're gonna get freshmen to win you titles, you still gotta have a top ten dude.

00:08:29
Speaker 4: But now you can win titles.

00:08:30
Speaker 3: Without having the freshman top ten dude because you can get juniors and seniors, et cetera. So I mean, we'll use that money somewhere else. I think it means he's gonna have to go. He's gonna have to go get the best one or two or three, like one of those guys in the portal. But so it's disappointing, but it's not it's not crippling. It is interesting to me, though, Ryan. Everyone at UK from September to about mid January thought he was coming and then it kind of changed in the last week or two. And a lot of people think it changed because of Nil. And do you know who's in charge of NIL at North Carolina? TJ Bisner, who we used to who I hired from Kodak at Florida. And I say that to say, you just never know how life is gonna go. TJ Bisner, who started on the KSR blog as a volunteer writer, is now in charge of NIL at North Carolina and steals a recruit from Kentucky. And I'm not mad at him at all, Kudos to him, But what a bizarre world that is, right.

00:09:42
Speaker 2: When you put it like that, that is kind of crazy that, you know, if it comes down to TJ one of our boys now stealing one of our guys we really wanted. So now is TJ a villain? We put him on the We like him, but.

00:09:52
Speaker 3: He's doing his job. I mean, he's doing his job. I can't TJ left because he couldn't deal with cow anymore. Right, So like that's you know, teach, I'm sure if you if you were if TJ, Tj'd love to be here working for Pope. Like it just that's the way it goes sometimes, Shandon, but kind of crazy that would happen.

00:10:14
Speaker 4: But it does stink losing. I mean, he's he's an elite talent.

00:10:17
Speaker 5: Yeah, imagine there'll being a lifelong Kentucky fan and then your job goes against your heart and you got to recruit against Kentucky.

00:10:24
Speaker 6: I mean, you got to do your job. But that's it's just gonna be tough.

00:10:28
Speaker 3: If you would have told me that many years ago that the dude that was on the group chat with me and Drew going do we post this picture or not about so and so, that that dude would be the guy that takes a recruit from Kentucky like Drew.

00:10:43
Speaker 4: It's just it's just so wild to me.

00:10:46
Speaker 3: Maybe like you one day, I wouldn't Duke and stealing a recruit like that's crazy.

00:10:53
Speaker 8: I think he owes us a few more news and views tonight. I'm watching BTI. I mean, we got to keep an eye on bt I. He can try to bring down Kentucky's Tyler Thompson. If you go to Auburn, Tyler, I'm gonna know. I'm gonna know what's happening. Who's next? Adam is up next, Adam?

00:11:07
Speaker 4: Go ahead, Adam.

00:11:10
Speaker 9: I guess it's the thing about Cal and I think you all discussed before. It's not just that the losses started piling up. You know, the color earlier saying he hates Cal when I don't hate Cal. I really appreciate you bring us the championship. He had one of the greatest runs in school history. But when it started the talking down to fans and acting like we're idiots that we don't know basketball, and then we don't know what we're talking about, that's when I think it really started turning south.

00:11:40
Speaker 4: Oh, I think that's right.

00:11:41
Speaker 3: I think for most fans that was that was a big thing.

00:11:45
Speaker 4: You know.

00:11:46
Speaker 3: Look, it's like when you get again. I wasn't married, so I'll go to you Ryan for this. Appreciate the call. You know, sometimes a trait that a person has when you start dating, you find cute, and after a while that same trait the person may not even be doing anything differently, but then it just starts to get on your nerves. I mean like you can say, oh, when you were kind of a little Braddy, that was fun at first, and then after like eight years of it, you go.

00:12:19
Speaker 4: I don't know if I want to hear that anymore. Right, I think a lot of the way Cow was, I think he got worse.

00:12:24
Speaker 3: But then also we just like you just get you can't only hear that haven't seen him so many times till you want to know why haven't you seen him?

00:12:32
Speaker 2: I feel like that's a lot of what are we kind of wore thin When Cayl was talking down to us, he was okay, but he was winning. They start talking down to us and they weren't winning as much, kind of struggling. That's more like, okay, look dude, you know we were put up with it when we were winning championships. Yeah, he never changed his tone. He kept that same attitude throughout his career, even when he was losing.

00:12:53
Speaker 3: No, I think there's a lot of truth to that, Like you can be arrogant when you're winning, Yes, like Bobby Knight showed that, Like Bobby Knight could do what every one when he was winning, and then the moment he started losing.

00:13:05
Speaker 4: People look at it differently.

00:13:06
Speaker 2: Yep.

00:13:06
Speaker 8: I mean, and we're guilty of receiving it some like listen to him some ways. I mean, when you got and beat a team by twenty and say I don't know when our next game is, you go, well, he just won by twenty. Maybe you don't even know when the game is. But when you're at Arkansas, you're one five and you say I don't know when the next game is, You're getting a completely different reaction.

00:13:22
Speaker 4: Yeah, a F nine twenty two eighty seven. Who's next? Darryl is of that? Darryl? Go ahead, Darryl.

00:13:29
Speaker 10: Yeah, you guys, quick football comment in a basketball question. Uh, you're talking about with the quarterbacks getting to the super Bowl. You left out Dan Loreno from nineteen eighty three, who I think was.

00:13:44
Speaker 4: But I think he made this.

00:13:45
Speaker 3: Didn't he make the Super Bowl though in his second year, not his first year.

00:13:49
Speaker 4: I think he did.

00:13:52
Speaker 10: You might be right, You might be right. I'd have to look back. A whole bunch of us from Henderson are going down to the game, or oh probably about a dozen of us, So there is going to be a big Western Kentucky contingent down there, or any of you guys going to the game.

00:14:09
Speaker 3: I don't think we are. Yeah, I don't think any of us are. Are you guys? You're planning on being loud because we're gonna have to out shout those nerds.

00:14:20
Speaker 10: We get pretty loud. Yes, okay, good, all right, we get pretty loud.

00:14:25
Speaker 4: Well you go. Do you give him hell? I appreciate the call.

00:14:29
Speaker 5: Both coaches are kind of nerds too. Vandy's Mark Biden is. We know Mark Pope is. Do you think Mark Pope's a nerd? We've called him a nerd. You called him a nerd would pull the table, Rick, we're talking about extra nerdy.

00:14:44
Speaker 4: There's a difference. There's a different between nerd and like dork. Okay, then please elaborate. There's there's nerd, there's dork, there's there's geek.

00:14:55
Speaker 6: And what's the difference.

00:14:56
Speaker 4: Well, if he's an expert on the matter. Yeah, no, I think.

00:15:02
Speaker 3: I think Mark Pope. You're probably right, Mark Pope is a nerd. A nerd is somebody smart, yeah, but it's still able to whatever. A dork is somebody with like no social skill skills, like can't really talk. And then a geek is somebody into like fantasy games and dungeons and dragons and that kind of stuff. So I think there's there's nerd, then there's dork, and there's geek.

00:15:26
Speaker 6: Nerds a compliment, actually.

00:15:28
Speaker 4: It is to me. Yeah.

00:15:29
Speaker 3: Now, some people, though, don't like to read and don't like numbers, and so they may not think so, But I think you're right, Mark Pope's a nerd.

00:15:35
Speaker 4: What a flip? All right?

00:15:39
Speaker 7: You?

00:15:41
Speaker 4: He said? I never said that, you know, I agreed with you.

00:15:45
Speaker 1: Uh.

00:15:46
Speaker 3: You've been showing love to God's fan God not God's Fantry, God's Pantry food Bank. They are getting close to their goal of a million meals by Valentine's Day for that throughout Kentucky.

00:15:58
Speaker 4: It's great.

00:15:59
Speaker 3: We have given a total now of two hundred and forty six meals from the Kentucky fan base. So excuse me, two hundred and forty six donations and then think about how many meals that is.

00:16:10
Speaker 4: That's pretty amazing.

00:16:11
Speaker 3: So the goal is to donate Mark Pope's number of forty one dollars by Valentine's Day to continue increasing the amount of meals so they can get their million goal by Valentine's Day. Go to Godspantry dot org slash KSR just so you know every time I read this ad, I do another forty one dollars. I hope you all will too. God's Pantry if you can, if you're able, Godspantry dot org slash KSR for meals for folks in Kentucky. Great organization. We'll take a break and be right back. This is Kentucky Sports Radio.

00:16:46
Speaker 4: Work back.

00:16:47
Speaker 3: It is Kentucky Sports Radio here live at Don Franklin Hyunday, giving away some tickets at the end of the show here on a cold day before the weekend. Kats and Vandy two thirty. Apparently the UK Blue Coats are taking a busload of people to the game tomorrow, So that's good there. Maybe there'll be more Kentucky fans than we even realize there.

00:17:07
Speaker 2: Like you said earlier, I think you said you maybe you predicted sixty forty Kentucky and Vandy fans that maybe even big, a big.

00:17:12
Speaker 3: I'd say sixty forty vand Kentucky. I sent me the Vandy still a season ticket holder and stuff that would go. And then the students section.

00:17:19
Speaker 2: Yeah, student section is only pretty rad.

00:17:21
Speaker 5: They got kind of a big student section too, and they have a reason to actually show up because the team's decent for the first time in six seven, eight years.

00:17:28
Speaker 3: Yeah, One person writes, Matt, take the four of you. If you had to give one of you nerd, one of you dork, and one of you geek, how would you do it? And I'd say I'm probably the nerd because.

00:17:40
Speaker 2: I read a ton I'm a dork.

00:17:43
Speaker 4: I was gonna say that, and you just volunteered.

00:17:45
Speaker 2: Yeah, that's fair.

00:17:46
Speaker 4: Really, See, I thought you were gonna fight me on that.

00:17:48
Speaker 2: No, out of the three choices, I think I'm probably a dork.

00:17:51
Speaker 3: Yeah, And then I would probably say Shannon's the geek because of wrestling, right, Like, wrestling's kind of a geeky.

00:17:57
Speaker 6: I don't really think athletic. What do you mean geeky?

00:18:00
Speaker 4: I mean it's professionals. Obviously I love it too, But would.

00:18:04
Speaker 3: You you would grad you it's a little geeky for you to put those little tights up.

00:18:08
Speaker 5: Absolutely not. No, you know the geeks are the one who watched that. Oh there's here in the front row, sh like you knows of all. And those are our paying customers.

00:18:23
Speaker 4: What do they pay?

00:18:24
Speaker 3: Tell I'm saying that, But the people who come to ov W and pay those are our pain customers.

00:18:30
Speaker 4: You can't call them geeks.

00:18:32
Speaker 6: Have you not been to an op W show? I do it on an open mic every week.

00:18:36
Speaker 4: I understand that. I'm just saying. I don't know if that's the best.

00:18:40
Speaker 5: I'm just saying, like Dungeons and Dragons, the dragons aren't the geeks, it's the people who play Dungeons and Dragons.

00:18:46
Speaker 4: Oh so you're a dragon. No, you're saying you're the toy. I'm the toy. You're the toy. Okay, all right.

00:18:54
Speaker 3: I don't know if that's better or worse if you're the toy that the geeks play with Shannon I. I was on insta last night, yes, and I saw I was like looking at the story and your face came up and you were holding up this camera. I don't know if anybody saw this. You were holding the camera in your face and you were like, who would be kidnapped by a night Agent? If the Night Agent would kidnap, you write me and tell me about it.

00:19:21
Speaker 4: And I was like, what are you talking?

00:19:23
Speaker 6: I don't think that was the actual verbage.

00:19:25
Speaker 5: But yeah, So this was an endorsement through Netflix with the show called The Night Agent. Season two is out, so they want.

00:19:34
Speaker 3: I got you to endorse the Night Agent by asking people if they would be kidnapped by a Night Agent.

00:19:40
Speaker 6: You have to go to the iHeart radio app.

00:19:42
Speaker 5: We're giving away five thousand dollars to yeah, five thousand dollars, but one thousand dollars to five lucky people, and you have to go on to the iHeart radio app. You click the microphone button and then you record how the Night Agent can rescue you.

00:19:55
Speaker 4: That doesn't sound geeky at all. You know what? Ready to revote on?

00:20:00
Speaker 6: They pay me to say that.

00:20:02
Speaker 4: Cut the snuts out.

00:20:03
Speaker 3: To be clear, Please write me and tell me how the Night Agent will rescue you.

00:20:08
Speaker 5: You're not going You're not writing me, You're doing it on the iHeartRadio app. Who can to be fair, I've never seen The Night Age.

00:20:14
Speaker 3: I don't know if you should admit that. I've heard that's a good show. Actually, but Sees, I did think it was funny because it came up as an ad. It wasn't your study was just an ad. Shannon the dude popped up on my story. If I'm not too two eighty seven coup open lines.

00:20:28
Speaker 4: Who's next?

00:20:29
Speaker 2: Nate is up next?

00:20:30
Speaker 4: Nate? Go ahead?

00:20:31
Speaker 5: Nate?

00:20:34
Speaker 11: Yeah, Hey, man, the gang.

00:20:36
Speaker 10: How's it going.

00:20:38
Speaker 2: Good?

00:20:38
Speaker 11: So this this Cow. I'm a little late, but this Cow documentary got me thinking with football, I think, no matter what happens in the spring and I know what we're like, let's win now, but you know what comes up in the summertime. Whattflix?

00:21:03
Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean we we've had we've had a bad history with documentaries at this school. I remember it was ESPN followed us in twenty thirteen, the year we went to the n I T. That was the year they had that Facebook documentary happening the year and then the COVID season cut it off right in the middle of it. So now you know Netflix. So for people who know who want who don't realize it's not just Kentucky that the documentary's about eight teams in the SEC. Each gave access to Netflix. Each episode. As I understand, it will be about one of those teams, so each team gets an episode. The problem is that the Kentucky episode is the South Carolina game and the Tennessee game.

00:21:49
Speaker 4: So I think it's the Louisville game. It's the Louisville game. Oh no, I thought it was all right, agreed, K Yeah, I think it's.

00:21:59
Speaker 3: It's the South Carolina game in the Louisville game regardless. They so, yeah, so we're gonna be the tragic episode clearly of the of the group. So yeah, that's not gonna be fun Ryan to watch when that comes out, because that was Those were maybe the two worst games of the year.

00:22:17
Speaker 2: Actually, I'm just talking to Siyah last night about that Louisville game. It was really Remember it was really cold, we were getting beat. We left at halftime because that was a butt kick and they gave us that day.

00:22:25
Speaker 4: So you excited to rewatch it drew on Netflix this summer.

00:22:28
Speaker 8: I didn't see four K cameras at the concession stand when Gerald Mincy was there, but I hope they were nearby.

00:22:34
Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, it's not gonna be that's gonna be bad, bad publicity. And it comes out in August, right before the season starts, and.

00:22:43
Speaker 8: That's South Carolina game. We were so excited. They were thirteen point favorite. I mean, it's just gonna show the fall. I'm sure we're gonna see the joy leading into it and we're gonna destroy this team into just the season going into what it was.

00:22:55
Speaker 3: Those shows exist to do one thing show or two things, show you joy and show you pain. I don't know who they're using for joy. I'm sure they'll be teams. But when you consider the two games they got with us, we're gonna be the episode of pain. We're the pain. We are the pain without question, and that's that is going to be tough just from a morale standpoint. To have come out right before the new season hits. Just unfortunate timing. That's the risk you take when you do those. We'll take a break and be right back.

00:23:23
Speaker 4: This is KSR Walter back tell you sports Radio. Here Don Franklin.

00:23:31
Speaker 3: Whatever your needs may be, Don Franklin is here with our team of experts to help you find the perfect vehicle to match your buzzet, budget and lifestyle. Thank you from Don Franklin auto dot com. Speaking of thank yous, I want to thank the KSR listening audience we have had over the course of January, and we're not even to the end of the month, but over the course of January probably our highest consistent podcast listening numbers since we've been doing this. I mean, so thank you all very much. I mean, you know, they'll be individual days throughout history when something happens and everybody. But if you're just talking show to show consistently listening without question, our biggest numbers in January.

00:24:11
Speaker 4: But even if you throw in like March in.

00:24:14
Speaker 3: The NCAA tournament runs and football, I can't remember a time. I mean, we are consistently in the top twenty five podcast episodes in America and like the others are all the Kelsey brothers. Pardon my take, Bill Simmons, I mean it's crazy, So Ryan, a big thank you to the fans that there is. I had a conversation with a company yesterday about an advertisement thing, and the person said, there is no local radio show in the country that does what you all do, and I really appreciate the fans who helped make that happen.

00:24:49
Speaker 2: You think a lot of it is, you know, the excitement about the basketball team. Yeah, I think so filling rupp Aerena our shows. You know, it's just we finally got our team back and we're excited about it.

00:24:58
Speaker 3: I mean, I'm honestly we had gotten to the point so like when I started the show in two thousand and ten, we would see huge spikes every February March, where obviously for the NCAA tournament, and then it would kind of dip a little bit in April, but then starting about twenty seventeen, it stayed pretty consistent. But you didn't get the March spikes, not surprisingly because we weren't because we weren't very good to be honest with you. Now, like we started seeing a spike in November, really and it has stayed through.

00:25:35
Speaker 4: The whole time.

00:25:35
Speaker 3: And there's no doubt Mark Pope Drew is a huge part of that. There's just so much more energy around everything.

00:25:41
Speaker 8: Yeah, we can even fill it just with feedback from the show, seeing people at remotes, but also to the point about the fan excitement, it just makes me more excited about getting to March.

00:25:50
Speaker 4: I mean, we're right around the corner.

00:25:52
Speaker 8: I'm hoping multiple weekends in the NCAA, multiple days in Nashville. That's just more fun shows and more funs for us to have together as follow this journey.

00:26:01
Speaker 5: I think the last four years has really worn on the fan base, and to your point, Nashville, I think this year is going to be maybe crazier than ever with the excitement that we have especially had in two more teams in the SEC.

00:26:11
Speaker 3: So let me tell you real quick. This is a little dilemma I have because I have to do this this weekend. So you know, I have that little Nerd fellowship that we've talked about. Yeah, Nerd not geek fellowship, the inn astmen. So we are going to the Hague in Netherlands, and the flight is the cont The event starts the Monday of the National Championship game.

00:26:37
Speaker 4: Okay, we are.

00:26:39
Speaker 3: Supposed to leave fly out from New York all of us Saturday night of the final four. So I had to talk to him and I was like, look, you understand if Kentucky were in the final.

00:26:56
Speaker 4: Four, like, I can't just pick up.

00:27:00
Speaker 3: And go to the Netherlands, right Like, like I just can't do that. And they said, well, you agreed to be part of this. So I gave him a compromise, which was, all right, if we make the final four, I'm going to the final four. If Kentucky was to be in the Final four, because it's in San Antonio, right, I'm going then I'll fly on Sunday, fly night, and I would just have to miss the National Championship. So I mean, there's nothing I can do about it. But I was like, I'm not going to miss the final four if we're in it, I'm not. I'm going there been to sant Tayr's like the biggest city in America.

00:27:39
Speaker 4: I've never been to. I'm like, I'm going.

00:27:42
Speaker 3: So you know, now, with that said, if I had to get if they made the National Championship Game and I had to get on the plane that Sunday, that would break my heart. But you know, what a great position to be and if that was what happened. But anyway, I'm but the fact that.

00:27:59
Speaker 4: That's even a theoretical thought is an exciting place to be.

00:28:04
Speaker 2: Right, you would have to take your equipment and join us.

00:28:06
Speaker 3: No, No, I would do the show. I said to him. I was like, I'll come, but I'm doing my show. I have to, like you know, from from the Hague. Hey, everybody at the War Crimes Tribunal scoot over KSR.

00:28:19
Speaker 4: Is happening right here right now. I hope you run into that problem.

00:28:24
Speaker 8: It's unfortunately you would have to make that decision, but I hope it comes to that for you and for everyone else that you're in that city.

00:28:29
Speaker 4: That would be That would be great for right DraftKings.

00:28:31
Speaker 3: If you can bet five dollars you can win two hundred and fifty dollars from DraftKings.

00:28:34
Speaker 4: You are two hundred dollars. Excuse me.

00:28:36
Speaker 3: You can bet the championship games tonight or Sunday everything you want from DraftKings. You all know about it. Download the app. Use my promo code KSR bet five get two hundred dollars. Let's go over the SEC games. Let's pick them. I'll start with you, Shannon. There's some good ones this week in Mississippi State rank fifteenth.

00:28:54
Speaker 4: At South Carolina.

00:28:55
Speaker 3: South Carolina should have beaten Florida this week and let it fall.

00:28:59
Speaker 4: Do they get miss.

00:29:00
Speaker 5: South Carolina should have had a couple of SEC wins, but they're ower. I'm gonna go Mississippi State.

00:29:04
Speaker 4: Keeps them that way.

00:29:05
Speaker 6: They went on the.

00:29:06
Speaker 4: Road, Mississippi State.

00:29:08
Speaker 8: I think playing Florida close, we only hurt South Carolina in this game a little bit of a hangover.

00:29:11
Speaker 2: Yeah, South Carolina they had their heart rip down again Florida other night. So I'm going to Missippi State with the win on the road.

00:29:16
Speaker 4: Yeah, that's the thing.

00:29:17
Speaker 3: If they've beaten Florida, I actually think they'd win this game if they lost, and so I'm gonna take Mississippi State.

00:29:22
Speaker 4: Texas.

00:29:22
Speaker 3: A and M is at Texas big rivalry. They played it just a couple of weeks ago, and A and M won there. Texas is like two and four in the conference, so they need this one.

00:29:34
Speaker 4: Do they win at home?

00:29:35
Speaker 5: Texas has struggled adapting to SEC life. I think Texas A and M is the better team. They went on the road another road win.

00:29:41
Speaker 4: An agree, I think A and M gets them.

00:29:43
Speaker 2: A and M's got their stud back too, So I'm gonna take A and M to win that game.

00:29:46
Speaker 3: I'm gonna take Texas at home. They need this one. They're gonna be on the bubble later in the year if they don't get it. I think they get this game. George's at Florida. Any chance Georgia pulls the ups at Florida does not look like Florida in the last couple of weeks.

00:29:58
Speaker 6: Uh, Yeah, there's a chance.

00:30:00
Speaker 5: But I think I'm gonna give the edge to the home team in which cases Florida, So I'll say Florida.

00:30:04
Speaker 8: Yeah, Florida's had some scares and some bad performances lately, but I still think they're a very good team.

00:30:08
Speaker 4: They'll win this one.

00:30:09
Speaker 2: The Mike White Bowl former team. Yeah, so I wanna say, I'm wanna have Georgia pulling the upset.

00:30:15
Speaker 3: Oh wow, Okay, I'm gonna take Florida. Who would have thought at the beginning of the year this is a game with two ranked teams who are at the top of the SEC Old miss at Missouri. Who would have ever believed that's a ranked matchup?

00:30:27
Speaker 6: Who you got That's gonna be a good one.

00:30:29
Speaker 5: I think I'm going to give Old miss uh the win here another Again, that's three road teams that I picked. It's tough to win on the road at ancency, but I think Ole miss is the better team.

00:30:38
Speaker 8: I'm gonna say Missouri continues their impressive turnaround from a year ago and they win another one at home, staying hot in the league.

00:30:45
Speaker 2: Dude, I think we gotta admit Missouri's pretty dag gone good and they got a great coach. So I'm gonna go Missouri.

00:30:50
Speaker 3: Missouri for all the great talk about what Pope's done, Pat Kelsey's done all these Missouri has the same coach that went to eighteen last year.

00:31:00
Speaker 4: Like, this is not even a new coach.

00:31:02
Speaker 3: He wenth to eighteen in conference and now they're good. That's a pretty amazing turnaround for a coach to be able to do. For me, if he stays like this, he's the SEC coach of the year. I mean, anybody who's able to do that. With that said, they've been.

00:31:17
Speaker 4: Getting great crowds at their games.

00:31:19
Speaker 3: They've been into it. I'm gonna take Missouri to win at home. We all think Alabama wins at home against LSU. So what about the big one Tennessee at Auburn in.

00:31:29
Speaker 4: Auburn, No, Johnny Broom, I.

00:31:32
Speaker 5: Think Auburn wins. I mean Tennessee has been slipping. They got blown out at Florida, lost to Vandy. I think Auburn wins this one.

00:31:39
Speaker 8: I'm going to Auburn too, I mean that was a big loss, but they still got a great team and that venue will be on fire there there.

00:31:46
Speaker 4: They got game day too.

00:31:48
Speaker 8: That's my favorite place in the SEC outside of Rupp. I think they'll be ready for him.

00:31:51
Speaker 2: Yeah, Auburn's good, he without Broom and they can score a lot of points. Tennessee kind of struggling offensively, So I think Auburn wins and wins big.

00:31:57
Speaker 3: Honestly, Auburn wins this game. They're winning the SEC. I mean, like, like as hard as the SEC is. If Auburn their schedule is kind of packed right in here, they play us like they win this game. They can probably drop two or three conference games and still win. This is the kind of game Rick Barnes wins, though, right like this is the he he wins on the road in tough environments. They sometimes drop him at home or to Vandy. I actually think Tennessee pulls the upset uh and gets the.

00:32:28
Speaker 4: Way it gets the way Auburn in Auburn. Who's next? Aaron go ahead.

00:32:33
Speaker 12: Erin hey man, today's my sixty third birthday and happy birthday, thank you. I might get on my haller in Lynch, Kentucky and head up here.

00:32:48
Speaker 3: Oh yeah, you're you living the holler in Lynch. That's right, So you're you're deep in the Eastern Kentucky.

00:32:56
Speaker 12: Yep, I'm deep being Eastern Kentucky, lived in Lynch.

00:32:59
Speaker 4: K Hooky.

00:33:00
Speaker 12: Oh my love, And I'm gonna hit up to your restaurant and I'm gonna get I want to know what you have that I can get? Do you have a fried chicken dinner with gravy on the tighter.

00:33:17
Speaker 4: So you had me for a minute. I'm not gonna lie to you.

00:33:20
Speaker 3: Yes, well you should always get the wings, but we have fried chicken if you want it, and uh, you had me. I'm not gonna lie to you because we do have a caller from Lynch and I thought it was him, but appreciate lady.

00:33:31
Speaker 4: Yeah, that's what I was gonna see. I didn't, but but we.

00:33:33
Speaker 3: Do have a caller from Lynch and so I thought that was yeah. We'll take a break. Be right back here, DoD Franklin. This is Kentucky Sports Radio. He got fun work back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio. Final segment. Here Don Franklin Hyundai, and like see to thank you Don Franklin, one of our best partners, uh in all forms.

00:33:58
Speaker 4: Appreciate them being here.

00:33:59
Speaker 3: And I'll give you one more price here Shannon GMC twenty twenty four GMC Canyon Elevation rear wheel drive thirty seven one and eighty one dollars.

00:34:09
Speaker 5: Eighty one do I'll tell you what. Drew has been very gracious. I'll throw on the one dollar.

00:34:13
Speaker 4: Okay, that's very nice of you.

00:34:15
Speaker 6: If anybody buys there.

00:34:16
Speaker 3: So there's up to you could get up to five dollars in discounts from Shannon or Drew if you if you get the vehicle, what burst rights? Matt Trump is letting all the files go from the JFK assassination. Are you excited? What do you think of what's come out? What has anything come out?

00:34:33
Speaker 6: I don't think so, not yet.

00:34:34
Speaker 4: Yeah. I think we're gonna end up finding out it's like.

00:34:38
Speaker 6: What we thought it was.

00:34:39
Speaker 4: Well, it's just not as cool as people think.

00:34:41
Speaker 3: And then they'll go, well, then they're not really showing it, like you know what I mean, like people like you, they're conspiracy theorists. Nothing can stop a conspiracy theory because when you give people the truth, they just don't believe it's the truth and they just assume they're so like, so.

00:34:53
Speaker 6: What's the conspiracy on the JFK on who shot? Who shot them?

00:34:57
Speaker 4: Oh? I mean they are a million conspiracies right there.

00:35:00
Speaker 3: It was the CIA, it was the Russians, it was the Cubans, it was I mean basically anything, the mafia, basically anything that it was not Lee Harvey OSW.

00:35:11
Speaker 6: So when this comes out, we should know a definitive answer.

00:35:16
Speaker 3: I mean, that's what I'm saying, is all right, Let's say you believe in a conspiracy theory and then the government says, here's the real truth, and people still won't. I mean, like, when you want to believe in conspiracy theory, you're just gonna believe it.

00:35:30
Speaker 6: People don't believe what they want.

00:35:31
Speaker 3: People are going like, So, if you're one of these people who doesn't believe the government, then I don't know why when the government releases information that's gonna make you.

00:35:38
Speaker 6: Believe, have pictures of a man on the moon and people say that.

00:35:40
Speaker 3: Believe the government, give you everything you want about a man on the moon, and there'll still be people rest in peace. Jared Lorenzo to say the man on the moon was not real, Like, there's nothing you can do for that.

00:35:48
Speaker 2: There's the people that are gonna see these documents and think the government changed them to still hide secrets and things. There's no way around it.

00:35:55
Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean so I so is it interesting?

00:35:59
Speaker 3: Yes, I mean, I'm sure there'll be something that comes out that's interesting, but I don't know that it will change anything.

00:36:05
Speaker 8: I'll tell you what's gonna come out of it. We're gonna have a lot of experts. There's gonna be thousands of experts. Ready, everyone that has any of those accounts is going to know everything that happened.

00:36:15
Speaker 3: But I'm amazed how smart people have become in recent years that I didn't realize cared about things as much as I mean, people have become really smart like people.

00:36:26
Speaker 4: I love them. They are people I went to school with and I never saw open a.

00:36:29
Speaker 3: Book, and now they are smart, and I really appreciate that of what they've been able to accomplish. Skyline announced they are putting out they are combining with Graters to put out Skyline ice.

00:36:43
Speaker 6: Cream three way ice cream.

00:36:47
Speaker 4: I don't know. Now, let me just say I love Skott. I mean, I love Skyline.

00:36:51
Speaker 3: I'm like at the head of the line of fandom, and I really like Graters ice cream. But I don't know if I think those two things ryan would go well together. I'm not sure that those are two great tastes that would go great together.

00:37:05
Speaker 2: This is gross. I mean, this is nasty.

00:37:07
Speaker 6: Oh it doesn't mean they're mixing it together, does it.

00:37:09
Speaker 4: I mean, yes, I mean it's a Skyline flavor.

00:37:12
Speaker 5: Yeah, it's a flavor of ice cream, Chilly flavored ice cream.

00:37:16
Speaker 4: Yeah, it's a flavor of ice.

00:37:17
Speaker 2: Crowl would you put a big honk of ice cream in your bowl of chili and then eat that?

00:37:21
Speaker 4: No, it's gross, it's nasty.

00:37:24
Speaker 8: I can't wait to eat it. I mean, name one bad greater's flavor, thank you.

00:37:28
Speaker 4: It will be delicious.

00:37:30
Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean they say it'll be like a cinnamon spice. So if I told you cinnamon spice ice cream, you might be like, well, that sounds good.

00:37:37
Speaker 8: There's not gonna be noodles and raw onions in its flavors on top.

00:37:41
Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't know. I'm getting it. I'm gonna try it.

00:37:44
Speaker 6: But yeah, as long as they throw on the oyster crackers, that makes it.

00:37:49
Speaker 4: Oh, if they put the hots.

00:37:50
Speaker 6: What you do there on Valentine's Day?

00:37:51
Speaker 4: This year?

00:37:52
Speaker 6: You went last year?

00:37:53
Speaker 4: Right, Valentine's Days? What a Friday night?

00:37:55
Speaker 7: Yeah?

00:37:55
Speaker 4: I thought I was gonna say the February fourteen.

00:37:57
Speaker 3: Yeah, probably it's probably gonna be Friday night. Yeah, white, good chance, I'll a good chance.

00:38:03
Speaker 4: I'll be there. Who's up next? Dalton is up next? Dalton?

00:38:06
Speaker 3: Go ahead, Dalton. It was embarrassing that you're when it was all couples and me sitting there.

00:38:11
Speaker 4: I'm not gonna lie. Don't go ahead?

00:38:14
Speaker 13: Hey, I appreciate taking your call. I love it when all four of y'all are on location. It's a lot better show. And it makes me forget that Rick's gonna answer the phone and I get the wine and dine and KSR Prime Time and Rick.

00:38:26
Speaker 4: Wow, how about that?

00:38:27
Speaker 7: Rick?

00:38:28
Speaker 6: A lot of.

00:38:31
Speaker 4: Rick's Rick's busy, Go ahead.

00:38:32
Speaker 13: Sir, No, yeah, let the man work, he's cooking, and a lot of things say but I'm gonna bring it down to two because you've made me thinking new things. First thing is the draftings. You're missing a golden opportunity to throw some love towards Tyler Children's and draftings, the crowns all yourn.

00:38:53
Speaker 4: That's actually funny.

00:38:54
Speaker 3: I enjoyed that even if nobody else said, well, one person did, but go ahead.

00:39:00
Speaker 13: And then I have an unpopular opinion and you totally changed my call. Skyline. I'm only hit it once. And just like Drew is not gonna watch, Shan's not gonna watch and hate worst, Skyline is the worst. It tastes like white trash Christmas. If you open a trailer door morning.

00:39:17
Speaker 4: I.

00:39:19
Speaker 3: Think white trash Christmas would be awesome. Actually, what are you talking about? I appreciate the call like, who wouldn't I who wouldn't want to be around the food? First of all, Scott, I don't want to hear any Skylin Slater. I just don't know about the ice cream.

00:39:29
Speaker 4: Who's next? Otis is up next? Otis? How are you? Otis?

00:39:33
Speaker 6: Breath?

00:39:33
Speaker 4: Oh? Here we go.

00:39:34
Speaker 7: I'm doing great? How about yourself? Gentlemen?

00:39:36
Speaker 4: All right? Notice ready I've turned on the engine.

00:39:38
Speaker 2: Go for it.

00:39:40
Speaker 7: I ain't gonna do all that. I was just gonna say. I'm proud of Mark, Mark Cope and what he's doing. I'm proud of stups of the RECRUSI doing. Poe's doing a hell of a job. That one thing, I want to say, a great thing. We didn't get that Caleb Wiggins sometimes as a gift in the purse, and I was a blessing because he made demanding more time and man and more money, and we could use that money and resources for other players that want to be here. We don't want to player that's a panickeey, we want to play it that. I want to be here like the rest of the players that's here. Sometime you get cast off in new work, and it's this year. I think Pope gonna get the players that want to be here as you got the players now, and we're gonna be great things to go blue and everything's gonna be alright.

00:40:10
Speaker 3: Don't cry good call Well it's Caleb Wilson, not Williams, But otherwise I thought that was true.

00:40:19
Speaker 4: Do you think in the end, in.

00:40:21
Speaker 3: Today's college basketball, you're better off not getting the guy you pay two million dollars too and using it elsewhere or do you still.

00:40:30
Speaker 4: Think you would have wanted him if that ends up happening.

00:40:33
Speaker 8: I think it varies with Kentucky, though we've seen Mark Pope likes a very specific person for each bott on the Cory. He's got his roles he wants. I trust he'll be able to find something. I really wanted Wilson just for the recruiting win, and he's gonna be very good. But you know, times have changed, and if you lose your big target in high school, it's not the end of the world. There's a lot of other options. One thing I heard with him is he really liked how North Carolina kind of said you're gonna be the guy. I mean, we can't hear him talk about how we love all these dudes consider and say they play for the front. And I'm not trying to make him selling against a bad attitude, but if that's one of the things he really liked about Carolina, maybe maybe that is ready to Who knows.

00:41:06
Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean you may be right.

00:41:08
Speaker 3: If you look at the roster next year, we're probably gonna get Brandon Garrison back, hopefully. Kirk Crease is apparently likely to apply if he doesn't come back to a medical red shirt.

00:41:20
Speaker 4: Is a way possible take it.

Speaker 3: Let's take it's a draft gradio, so those are three people that could come back.

00:41:26
Speaker 4: Then you take the other three freshmen.

00:41:28
Speaker 3: Obviously still have Trenton Noah and Travis Perry and and Colin Chandler. And then now you can go get two or three guys in the portal, pick the position that you want.

00:41:37
Speaker 4: I'm okay with it. I mean I'd like to have had him.

00:41:39
Speaker 3: I don't want to sound like, oh, I didn't want him, which is what people do when you don't get a guy.

00:41:43
Speaker 2: But you can make it work. Right now, it is a good mix. You got three returning, three freshmen, three recruits. Yeah, and now you can go to the transfer portal and get the guys you need. To fill the holes to fit your system.

00:41:54
Speaker 3: Yeah, for me, I want to go see him. They'll have to do this in the portal. Now, they do need to go get a stud. Right, in the same way that we've sort of said, do we have a dude on this team, We're like, that's my only worry for next year. You're gonna have to go get a dude. But in the portal, there'll be a couple of dudes. Right, there'll be a couple of dudes that are dudes. I don't know everytimes I can say that word. So you gotta We're just gonna have to get one. And that's We'll have a lot of money for it, so hopefully we can make it happen. Hey, thank you all very much for coming out here to Don Franklin Auto.
