00:00:40
Speaker 1: Bro. Yeah, you know, I gotta be said. I gotta be honest.

00:00:42
Speaker 2: I'm proud of myself for not eating bags of those Those mini Cadburry eggs are the best, keep them away. Shout out to my peeps. By the way, shout out to my peeps. Ever put a peep in the microwave.

00:00:51

00:01:03
Speaker 1: We be rocking at less go, you know, and Rich.

00:01:08
Speaker 2: That's Steve Covino and Rich Davis Covino and Rich taking the world by.

00:01:14
Speaker 1: Not by store and by scattered showers. What did you? What did you say earlier?

00:01:18
Speaker 2: I was like, Yo, Cavino, where were you when you can't hit that game winning shot?

00:01:25
Speaker 1: Mulleins? What did I say? Kevin?

00:01:27
Speaker 2: I was like, yeah, I wasn't watching. I watch it later. I wonder should you lie to your buddies?

00:01:31
Speaker 1: But yeah, do it? I was.

00:01:32
Speaker 2: I was locked in because I've missed big plays and when someone's like yo, I'm always torn if I should just fib and go along with it. I love how you called me out on like the biggest moment of the weekend. Meanwhile, you watched nothing and come in here and pretend like you've.

00:01:47
Speaker 1: Seen it all.

00:01:49
Speaker 2: The one thing I missed because I wasn't there in the moment, because I was being a chauffeur to my kid. I watched all the fights, I watched all the games. No, I don't think you ever lie. You see the highlights, you see it when you see it. I don't think you lie because you exposed yourself when you love Oh, we've talked about that. Where the people, let's just say the people that left Miami when they thought the Spurs were going to win the NBA Finals, well like ten years ago. If you're one of those people that left game early and the team made a comeback, or you just happen to be stepping out, like you said, you're running an errand or bringing your kids somewhere. If you missed the big play, do you just go along with the conversation at work or no, no, because you have to explain why you didn't see it live. But yeah, I saw it because I did see it. What did I see it three minutes after the fact? I mean I saw it. Everybody saw it. If you didn't see it, that's the problem. Like your algorithm is so weak that somehow between then and now you didn't see it, then you and I are not the same cat at all. I hear think if you had to see it at the moment, you're going to see it, you're going to see it. You go along with the person at work, meaning a lot of times. All right, let's play it out because what you're saying is ridiculous. Go ahead, hey man, talk to me about the game. Oh, it was just a passing comingway, say it like, you don't have to admit it.

00:03:05
Speaker 1: Go ahead, That was wild Cove.

00:03:06
Speaker 4: All he had to do was hold the ball there and he and he tried to pass the ball forward and you saw the shit.

00:03:12
Speaker 1: Yeah?

00:03:13
Speaker 2: No, sorry, man, I didn't see it well live anyway, but I saw it like three minutes later.

00:03:17
Speaker 1: Why would I have to stop the conversation to explain that. That's what I'm saying.

00:03:20
Speaker 2: So you do think you should go long when you ask, clown, why does me not having to see it live have anything.

00:03:27
Speaker 1: To do with the story? Bro, it's Monday.

00:03:30
Speaker 2: I didn't want to head about you into at least Thursday, because what you're saying is asinin, dude, it really is. You don't have to see it live to know what happened.

00:03:37
Speaker 4: No, but I appreciate the honesty because remember the home run derby. You guys left early, and when we had our pre show meeting live from Atlanta the next morning to fill in for the DP show, you guys had a conversation. You're like, should we just say that? And then you said no, no, we got to be honest.

00:03:53
Speaker 2: Fake in the phone and I don't believe in that. But it doesn't really I can't acquire an admission unless you ask where where are you when it happened?

00:04:01
Speaker 1: It doesn't matter.

00:04:03
Speaker 2: It does matter because why would I stop someone's yeah I saw it. Why does watching it live have you know any relevance to the story unless they asked you specifically were you watching it live?

00:04:15
Speaker 1: Or you have like a story to to tack onto it.

00:04:17
Speaker 2: Like I spilled my popcorn everywhere, I spilled my drink on my pants.

00:04:20
Speaker 1: That you know what I did.

00:04:21
Speaker 2: I started headbutting all my friends because I was watching it live. I just got caught up in the moment. It was a passing comment.

00:04:27
Speaker 1: We could move along.

00:04:28
Speaker 2: My point was I for all the things you watched, you just happen to be out in that moment. It's like when someone at work goes, oh, Danny, you work at Fox Sports. Do you know, uh, you know Bob Thompson. You may not know, Yeah, yeah, I think I heard of him. Continue with your story. I'm just saying a lot of times you just yeah, yeah, yeah.

00:04:46
Speaker 1: Actually i'd say who who the politician? I just tell the story.

00:04:52
Speaker 2: I saw the highlights broadcasting live from the Sports radio was spilled this popcorn apparently everywhere. If you miss any of today's shif any show ever, catch the podcast, search Covino and Rich wherever you get your podcast, and just fast forward through the first six minutes of today's show. It's all good, And remember you could watch what you hear at Covino and Rich FSR were streaming live at Covino and Rich FSR. It's an odd sort of thing, you like so much went down. Did you watch the Yankee game live? No, you saw the highlights. Did you watch the Fandora fight? No, you heard me talk about it. Heard you watch UFC? No, but I didn't. But I did see that female fire. It looked like she died and then it was like, thank god she was okay. That was scary. She got knocked out and then choked out like a double losy Barber. Yeah she got she got Oh she got beat bad. It was this skip Barber. It was a scary moment. Oh, I tastaid Barbara. I'm like, there'sn't been a woman named Barbara since nineteen forty.

00:05:48
Speaker 1: No, no, no Barber. So thank you guys.

00:05:50
Speaker 2: It was a weekend of great basketball, great baseball. ABS systems. Yeah, controversial, strike calls turned over, and of course some great fights and trumpets with live trumpets already getting controversial. I'm not a fan of the live trump but I want some big fat Mexican guy with a big fat Mexican mustache.

00:06:14
Speaker 1: They should have just found some cool vote. Yeah, I wanted some.

00:06:19
Speaker 2: But you know what, not trying to take anything away from with a recorder. Tatiana Tait is playing narco for Edwin Diaz live at Dodger Stadium, and she did a great, great jobber.

00:06:32
Speaker 1: Minute, Like, did she get the gigs? She did it two nights in a row. To me, she from what I've.

00:06:37
Speaker 2: Heard, she's like some sort of renowned trumpet player, like she was like a child prodigy.

00:06:43
Speaker 1: Does she have the time?

00:06:43
Speaker 2: She must be getting paid then to give up all the home game schedule just to be there for when he pitches.

00:06:51
Speaker 1: Yeah.

00:06:51
Speaker 4: After his very first official save for the Dodgers, they asked him on the field after the win. Was that in your contract? Was that part of it that you get a live trumpet player?

00:07:00
Speaker 1: Yeah?

00:07:00
Speaker 2: I don't know, dude. They we're gonna have to rotate it because she can't be that available. Well, you he's a professional musician. You played the trumpet in high school?

00:07:07
Speaker 1: I sure did you should? You know?

00:07:09
Speaker 2: Maybe I'll hop in there so some exciting games. Props to her, you know what, since you brought it up, Danny g. There's plenty to get to, from Bobaschet to Yukon beating Duke, But there is some debate on whether or not Mason Miller has a better entrance because he came out to Corn this weekend. Are you ready to Blind nineteen ninety four's Blind by Corn?

00:07:33
Speaker 1: And as a rock fan, yeah, but it was Corn there doing it live.

00:07:36
Speaker 2: No, But as a rock fan, as a guy that plays that stuff every night, I totally give it the rock horns and seal of approval. It's official. I give it, Like God, does Mason Miller know, yes, that you gave it to the approval? I have to let him know, Steve Cavino, but hold on, like someone's like, yo, bro, is it the best of all time?

00:07:56
Speaker 1: I'm like, did you forget about Marianna Rivera?

00:07:58
Speaker 2: Like sorry, no, it's rate and I do think it's better than Edwin Dyas, But you got to prove yourself so for that reason, a loan, Yeah, Edwin Daz is still above him. In my opinion, Mason Miller has all the potential in the world because it's a hell of an entrance and the timing of it just works so perfectly. I think it's a little too cool for the San Diego Pandres, to be honest, some of their fans are a little corny.

00:08:19
Speaker 1: No offense, I said, no offense. Corny, but when you're can't.

00:08:23
Speaker 2: Insult people and just say no offense, I said, no offense with all due respects. Yeah, we all hey, ohoa hey, it's like it's like what some big bocha Guido on the Sopranos will go, hey, mean the same fans that had that weak ass rap a few years ago when they made the playoffs.

00:08:37
Speaker 1: It's not a horn, but it's corn. That's what's it.

00:08:40
Speaker 2: That's what's it. Those cornballs that they had out there. Now, yes, cornballs, get it?

00:08:47
Speaker 1: Corn? Corn band corn. What's that stat? Rivera had more people walked.

00:08:53
Speaker 2: On the Moon than scored on Mariano Rivera in the postseason legend you want to say that he he has the best entrance ever? Did we forget Enter Sandman? New York Yankees. That's what started all of this, so you can't have that conversation without at least being honest. First, when you find that Marianna rivera fun fact, And did you have like a Yankees bathroom book that's on top of the toilet?

00:09:13
Speaker 1: Now I have a tattooed on my ass.

00:09:14
Speaker 2: You want to see, please present that right next commercial break, I'll give you a you can go nose deep and check it out, all right, right, So check this out, guys. Yeah, congrats to Mason Miller with his entrance. Diaz had the live trumpets. I love the theatrics. I love the as Colin put it, the game show atmosphere of the abs strike call the challenge. It's been adding so much fun. I think it changes so much strategy. And again, news flash, that's been going on in the minor leagues for a minute, but when you see it at this level, you're like, Wow, this is really.

00:09:48
Speaker 1: Changing the game. It's really interesting. I hope you guys enjoyed it.

00:09:51
Speaker 2: That being said, before we get into some college basketball and all the fun that happened this weekend. Speaking to baseball, your boy Boba sheets in the news Rich, Yeah, you know what, and I feel like Boba Schett I'm excited about this guy. I'm excited.

00:10:07
Speaker 1: I mean, as a Mets fan, why would I not be excited about Boba Sheet meet Bishit mean, come on and come on and meet bishohit they were doing Meet the Mets. I like Bobaschett.

00:10:20
Speaker 2: I'm gonna tell you about he's in New York met by day, a bounty hunter by night. I uh, Boba she I didn't want to bring up one thing about the ABS real quick. I saw something that I wasn't even sure you said. Colin on the Herd said, it's very game showy.

00:10:35
Speaker 1: Yeah it is.

00:10:35
Speaker 2: I like the theatrics, and you know, in stadium seems to be a party waiting to see what the result is. Just when you thought you knew everything about the ABS challenge, this is something I learned over the weekend.

00:10:47
Speaker 1: I don't know if Danny g Dan Byer, I don't know if you guys do this.

00:10:51
Speaker 2: The broadcast team has access even if it's not a challenge. Meaning what the Mets are an extra innings is they lost to the Pirates. Congrats Pittsburgh yesterday. Dude, those cameras got you up to a grain of rice, man, a grain of rice. They say, that's how close these pitches are safe. Seven cameras at different angles, the twelve cameras chase. What I didn't realize was that there was a pitch to Lindor in extras ball four City Field goes nuts walk. It looked close. Pittsburgh did not challenge Gary keithan Ron. The Mets broadcast team were like, wow, surprised the Pirates didn't challenge there. Let's take a look and like, oh, there was it was a strike. So the broadcast team did you know that they have access to check just for the fun of the broadcast.

00:11:39
Speaker 1: I didn't know that. No.

00:11:40
Speaker 2: So it's like, Danny, you could be watching the dodge bick Ooh they should have challenged. If the broadcast team has a hanker in to check as well, they could be like, oh, let me sholl that was a.

00:11:50
Speaker 1: Ball after all, So that's cool. That way, we could be extra frustrated as fans if her teams get it exactly.

00:11:54
Speaker 2: Yeah, so we saw a lot of avs, Like you said, a lot of fun. You know what, though, I really think because we so have aggravated that one umpire got this weekend.

00:12:03
Speaker 1: Yeah nine calls, yeah, nine calls wrong?

00:12:06
Speaker 2: They really need to, and most of them are, but they really need to use this the same way we need to use chat GPT like as a tool and look at it as a way to get better in whatever it is that you do. Like, embrace it, because if the umpire looks frustrated with it, it's just going to make them more obsolete faster and sooner than later. Like if they use it as like, yeah, we're just committed to getting it right and yeah we like the ABS system. You know, they need to embrace it and use it to their advantage. And that way we the public don't look at it like it's making them look bad, well, like they can't acknowledge that it's making them look bad. No, no, no, We're trying to get it right. You see what I'm saying.

00:12:45
Speaker 1: Of course I do. In fact, I I'll go as far as to compare.

00:12:49
Speaker 2: Like they shouldn't be embarrassed. I'll go as far as to compare umpires right now. And by the way, it's fifty to fifty pretty much on the call so far about four challenges a game. It's not taking over, but it is a fun layer. What I what I'll compare to is self checkout at a supermarket. Of course, as humans, you know, we want we don't want people losing their jobs, So like you don't want the whole place to be self checkout, because then it's like, uh, you know poor old Edna and you know Bob who's retired. These guys, you know, you want people to have jobs. You don't want the world to be taken over by robots. But I'll be honest, I use self check out most of the time. There's people that are like, why are we not using this one hundred percent of the time. It's almost like we're treating the umpires, like the senior citizens who have retirement jobs.

00:13:35
Speaker 1: At Ralphs, like we don't want to like to have them lose their jobs. So like, maybe want if you can, you can use self checkout.

00:13:40
Speaker 2: If you want, we could just view it as you know, they still do it, do a good job and less just enhance the experience. It's always like, why would you not use it for every pitch? If we're learning that it's accurate, eventually you probably will. I think so.

00:13:56
Speaker 5: I think I saw some many on x posts that they want what you guys are proposing, but now they're not so sure because they love how umpires are being embarrassed, Like they.

00:14:06
Speaker 2: Love that they need to pull a Bowbaschett and nip that in the bud. And we'll explain meaning like beat him to the punch because like, no, no, no, we're fans of this.

00:14:16
Speaker 1: We embrace it.

00:14:17
Speaker 2: Because the more they look embarrassed and frustrated, the more the fans and we the public are going to get on them. The more they embrace it and roll with it as like yeah, we're big fans of this too. To get this right, the less heat they're gonna they're gonna feel.

00:14:31
Speaker 5: You guys, want to know what stood out to me about the Henneo Suarez one after I watched it.

00:14:35
Speaker 1: A couple of times. Yeah, he challenged two yes and back to back.

00:14:40
Speaker 5: What struck me about this because I think that this is actually part of the conversation. Was the first call was an inside ball that was low and it was very and that was called the strike. You challenged it, then it was a ball. The next pitch was an outside pitch that was called a strike that was out of the strike zone. I can get if they were both inside pitches and Buckner's strike zone was more inside. Maybe he's not calling that outside. Do you know what I'm talking about? He called an inside pitch a strike when it was a ball, and he called an outside pitch that was a strike that was a ball.

00:15:14
Speaker 1: Exposed him.

00:15:15
Speaker 5: It did, Yes, Like if you were consistent, if you had a couple, like, you know, three or four pitches that were inside, just like I've got an inside zone the you know, the part of the plate's going to be a ball.

00:15:25
Speaker 2: This was all over the place. We've known that for years in all levels of sport. It's like, oh, this this umpire, it's got a high strike zone. Or he calls the inside pitch. This guy he missed inside.

00:15:35
Speaker 1: Yes, yes, that's what really bothered me about the call.

00:15:37
Speaker 5: And then I'm like, well, thank goodness they have this because if you are a hitter and I don't know if the second one was out of spite because he got the first one wrong, you maybe just want to ring him up anyway and don't think that he'll do it again. But like that was the issue that I saw. See me Buckner's strike zone was like.

00:15:52
Speaker 2: But is it a wild note to think though some of these calls that are right by you said a half an inch can you blame the human eye at a hunt miles an hour, Like madam.

00:16:03
Speaker 1: It's gonna keep the umps on us. It's going to keep them locked in.

00:16:06
Speaker 2: And like I said, they have to roll with it because they have to eliminate the feeling of embarrassment. Yeah, well, there's early observations. Pictures should not be calling this. Apparently pictures have a twenty five percent success right so far, batters and catchers more than fifty percent. So you're looking at if you're there behind the plate as a catcher or you know, the zone as a hitter, the picture.

00:16:31
Speaker 1: Maybe it's the angles, whatever.

00:16:33
Speaker 2: The candid adrenaline because and the way catchers frame pitches, they don't have an accurate view. So Chris Sales spoke of that. Recently, you'll see less pictures doing this. And my other observation is some are saying that there's a new batflip in town. You know what the new batflip is. You know, you hit a home run, you celebrate your bath flip.

00:16:53
Speaker 1: Yeah, but this is showing up the umpires again. I know that.

00:16:56
Speaker 2: Don't like say, bat flips don't show up the Empires. Bat flips show up the picture. Yeah, this is showing up the umpire. I'm not a fan of this. I've seen a few times. For instance, was it a rose for it was Randy a rose arena who started walking through first before the results of the challenge even came in. Umpire was like strike and he's like, nah, it was a ball takes off like the shin guard, the elbow trots out the first like with such arrogance, like he bumped into Rick the model Martel. Yes, arrogance and confidence that he's like, nah, I know better than you, and that that could rub an umpire the wrong way, Like I'm already at first base with my gear off because I'm certain I'm right and you're wrong. I don't think that's what you want to do to an umpire. And you know what, it's changing the game, but it's changing it for the better. We're talking about it. People are glued in. It's not taking a lot a lot of time, and it's been a lot of fun to see so far. So I hope you enjoyed that this weekend. And when I say nipping it in the butt or pulling a bobashet, I mean this. I think the umpires, like I said, need to eliminate any feeling of embarrassment, any feeling or thought of they're being shown up, any sort of angry expressions that you've been seeing throughout the weekend. Be committed to get it right. It's just part of their job, part of the game.

00:18:09
Speaker 1: Now.

00:18:10
Speaker 2: I say that because it's like a theory we've had rich for years, where if you've got a big giant pimple right on a tip of your nose, right, I feel like you got to acknowledge it before someone else does. You nip it in the butt. You take away the criticism before they can even say it. You take away the punchline, you take away the heat before someone else can. I live by that, Like you know what, I got a bad haircut. I'm gonna tell you about it, because now I took that away from you, you can't.

00:18:37
Speaker 1: Talk about it. I already did.

00:18:38
Speaker 2: See someone who takes the steam on it might say, just don't even acknowledge that because someone's thinking it. You're a fool if you think that, one of your buddies isn't going to point it out, Like if you're wearing a weird looking shirt because you're antmut it for you.

00:18:51
Speaker 1: Yeah, I know it's a weird shirt. Boom.

00:18:53
Speaker 2: You just took that punch line away from someone else, and I think the umpires need to do that to the fans. And I think that's what your boy Bobashitt to the Mets fans over the.

00:19:01
Speaker 1: Weekend, and I thought this is a great move.

00:19:03
Speaker 2: The Mets won two out of three, But Bobashett had a really rough start as a New York Men one for eleven, I think, right, seven strikeouts, to the point where the fans were booing him on an opening homestand and by the way, shame on you Mets fans when you're booing Bobashett. Game three, you took two or three, but Boba sheet did not look good at the plate. And Bobachett commented on this, take a listen to former Blue Jay now New York Metropolitan. No, if anything, I thought it took too long. But I mean, I get it.

00:19:38
Speaker 1: I thought my bets were terrible.

00:19:39
Speaker 2: Too, So former Mullet now High and Tight. Yeah, we're saying that he thought it took too long. Yeah, how do you feel about the Mets fans booing you? I thought it took too long. My bets were terrible in that press conference. He wanted, I mean embrace, but he went on to say that, Hey, listen, man, I really want to impress the Mets fans. And I was pressing because I I really am passionate about this, and you know what, I think that's getting ahead of it. So I do like that. I think I believe in that. I believe in getting ahead of it. I believe in being honest about it, because when you do those things, that's where you lose all the steam. It's It's also the Andy Pettitt when he was caught with Pedes back in the day, what did he say, Yeah, I did it. I did it because I was trying to get back from an injury. I was trying to get back on the field faster. It didn't make it because I love it so much. It didn't make them any more innocent. But he took ownership accountability. He explained it, and that took a lot of the heat off of a guy like Andy pettittt The people that lied about it, that resisted it, those are the ones that you remember always. So if Bobashett was like, yeah, man, I'm really mad about all these people booing me. I just got here back off, guys, I'm just trying to fit in. You know, the fans will eat them up even more, just like they're gonna eat up these umps the more they complain about being shown up or being embarrassed.

00:20:52
Speaker 1: I think it was always can embrace it, take the steam out of it?

00:20:55
Speaker 2: You could argue as a mild masterclass in handling a new fan base early on. So yeah, In other words, Pobochet said, Man, I'd be booing myself too. I'm surprised it didn't happen sooner, and you know what, that's it in the But that's his way of also saying, like, you know, Mets fans, I want to do well for you.

00:21:11
Speaker 1: I know this is a big market. Trust me.

00:21:13
Speaker 2: I'll deliver. But I'm listen, I'm I'm I would have bued me too. I think that's a great approach. And he said it with a smile in his voice and everything. So if he was angry about it, Mets fans would be getting on him more. Baseball fans period would be getting on him more. And it's a question in itself. Fox Sports Radio Nation eight seven seven ninety nine one, Fox, do you subscribe to taking the steam out nipping it? In the bud or waiting for someone else to call you out the same way we've been seeing it in baseball throughout the week. Yeah, But then you start thinking of all the things he did and you're like, I don't know which one she's talking about.

He does have a cool entrance, really cool entrance, Like I said, the timing of it. It just all lines up perfectly with the guitar and are you ready by the time, Like he's right there on the field right around that time. Kind of cool to see. So I hope you enjoyed your weekend. Hope you had a Yukon sort of weekend. Ukon over Duke Man. That was big logo threes. They were up nineteen points at one point, fifteen points at the half to come back and upset Duke that way you.

00:25:46
Speaker 1: Said, nineteen points. The kid that hit the shot Mullins, Brayln Mullins. He's nineteen years old, Like, isn't a wild thing. He's he's a kid. Yes, that is the cal that's the giveaway.

00:25:57
Speaker 2: I mean we talked the other day about his name's not Mike or Steve for rich we.

00:26:01
Speaker 1: Heard our pel jumboy.

00:26:03
Speaker 2: You may have seen the same clip where there's only one mic in Major League Baseball, which makes you realize all our names in the eighties and nineties are old guy, which, by the way, we live in a world of amazing stats. What and that might be my like biggest head scratcher, Mike Trout is.

00:26:18
Speaker 1: The only money one mic in the big leagues right now.

00:26:22
Speaker 2: That's crazy, you knowing there's a bunch of Braylen's and Dylans, you know, Carsons, and you know, so so weak when your name becomes an old guy named Sorry, sorry, Mike's might as well be Ebenezer and George on Fox Sports Radio Zekiel, Yeah, Ezekeel and Ebenezer live from Fox Sports Radio Studio. 00:27:00
Speaker 1: Yeah, hey, the challenge the abs. You know, it's interesting. We're so in it right now and so much fun.

00:27:07
Speaker 2: We watched our first weekend of Baseball where it was circus like in game show like at times, the reactions of the fans, the guys preemptively running down to first, or the tapping of the helmet a key moment.

00:27:22
Speaker 1: Eventually, it's gonna just be.

00:27:25
Speaker 2: We're gonna look back to be remember when they didn't have this, and it's gonna be crazy, like we let the umpires make.

00:27:30
Speaker 1: Bad calls, yeah, and just accepted it.

00:27:33
Speaker 2: I was talking about this with one of the dads when I was coaching over the weekend, because we were talking about this because it was a hot topic. I said, you know, layers of the game slowly do go away. Though there's two things that we learned as kids. If you grew up in the eighties and nineties like we did, there are two things that no longer matter. That when you were a kid, you took pride in batting average, framing a pitch. Okay, it doesn't matter. It doesn't matter. Why would it matter, I guess.

00:28:00
Speaker 1: Well, if it matters if the AS isn't called. But that's what I'm saying. Like the idea of framing a pitch hoping that you get the call from Blue, Like I guess it doesn't matter as much.

00:28:11
Speaker 2: This significance changes, it changes it and Yo, I feel like I tried to master this as a kid, selling.

00:28:19
Speaker 1: To call me the po go Ballo, go ball I try to master this joke. I still your bad joke.

00:28:27
Speaker 2: But when I was a kid, you know, you tag a guy out, you jump up and got him blue and you start like walking back to the dugout selling a call.

00:28:33
Speaker 1: Selling a call.

00:28:34
Speaker 2: There was such a there was such a skill, and like, are you good at being confident? Like you got him Now It's like that doesn't matter. You could be uh, you can be uh Meryl Streep, you can be the greatest actor action. All of those things is trying to fool the umpire. There's still ways to try to fool your opponent, and that's what the game should be based on anyway, Like Deacon a play. We've seen some great ones in the WB, Like there's ways to fool your opponent. We should be we shouldn't be focused on fooling the umpire anyway.

00:29:05
Speaker 1: That's just weak. But you're right, Rich, I'm with you. I'm with you.

00:29:08
Speaker 2: It's definitely changing things, but for the better. Shame on you, hey, by the way you're you're playing this, it makes me think of a very special guest we have on Wednesday. We don't want to give it away, but a very special guest will be here on the show live Wednesday, right here on Covino and Rich Bush. Well, I can't, but it made me think of it.

00:29:33
Speaker 1: Well, we'll take your feedback and phone calls.

00:29:36
Speaker 2: Now. This past weekend, not only was Boba Schett giving you a masterclass on how to deal with the media when you're messing up and fans he got booed and he said, you know what, I would have boded me too. We talked about I think accountability goes a long way and owning it and nipping it in the butt. I think that that that extinguishes all the fire and all the heat your way. I think you just roll with it and and I think that's how you handle all situations where you're getting criticism in life. Like even in Radio Rich they do something called air checks, where your boss basically tells you what you're doing and right and doing wrong. I notice when I push back and I try to overexplain, Yeah, I get it, but I'm trying to do this, that's when it gets like convoluted and defensive and awkward. When I'm just like, yeah, man, thanks appreciate the criticism. Cool, great, I'll get him next time. Just that really appreciate criticism. Bam, you just roll forward and you move on, and everybody feels it's the ability to like not look shook. Yeah, it's not easy. There's so many times I want to push back. That doesn't need to be radio or an air check. It could be your boss at your job, whatever you do for a living. If your boss like, hey, Johnson, I really wish you did blank more.

00:30:51
Speaker 1: Yeah, if you said heah, boss, you got it, man, you're right.

00:30:54
Speaker 2: Like you know what, Bobushit really wants to say, yeah, you know how hard it is to hit one hundred and four mile per hour on a new team, you lose, but with me, you got you bums who've never got it past little league bumm it booing me your bum loser, your bums. But instead he's like, yeah, you know what, I agree with you guys.

00:31:12
Speaker 1: You guys would missed.

00:31:13
Speaker 5: You know what.

00:31:13
Speaker 1: I was right, we're the best, Bob.

00:31:16
Speaker 2: We won't boo you as much now that it's like remember when Keem Peel had the translator for Obama. It was like, what you really want to say versus what you said, just it's better to just put the fire out. Zip it zippy. I agree, not not a bad thing. One last thing I want to give you who's having the worst start? Boba Shad or cal Rawley? Dude, no offense you read in my mind down here. I was gonna say, I hate to give Covino props, but when we talked about who's gonna have, like if you had to do an out on the limb, like what star is going to stink it up this year? Listen, with three games into one sixty two, so let's slow down.

00:31:48
Speaker 1: The older up.

00:31:49
Speaker 4: It's very very long season, of course, but I'm saying, remember last year when Rich was so so sure about what was going on with your bet that Rich you tried to pay off Covino.

00:31:59
Speaker 1: Yeah, at one point, at one point I forgot that. At one point the Mets were significantly better than the Yankees, and let I was so cocky. And the Mets ended up winning eighty three games. What did the Yankees win four?

00:32:13
Speaker 2: So yeah, a lot could change, but not the start cal Rowley wanted. He is let me write strikeouts like yo, you said, you know cal.

00:32:24
Speaker 1: Rawley is not gonna have the year he had last year.

00:32:26
Speaker 2: It wasn't rootting against him, and it wasn't me some sort of clairvoyant.

00:32:30
Speaker 1: I'm not, Madam Ruby. It was a matter of I see a bicycle.

00:32:35
Speaker 2: There's a matter of like he was really swinging a week bat during the World Baseball Classic the Alamo. So you know, he's he's just off. I'm not wishing him any any harm. I hope he comes back, but anyway, so far he's the big slumper, the big sleeper mumper. And you know what, even a guy like you know what this happens. Uh. That's why baseball over one hundred and sixty two games is really miraculous. And I and I and I don't say that like I roll. I say it for real. Sometimes we'll see a star player stink it up for the first like month, and at the end of the year, if they're a great player, they somehow their stats just.

00:33:08
Speaker 1: Show Lex Soto.

00:33:09
Speaker 2: Last year, like Sotoisoda had a rough start as a met and it ended up being the runner up MVP to Otani.

00:33:16
Speaker 1: Well you know what, I'll tell you this.

00:33:18
Speaker 2: Paul Skeins looked like ass didn't even get out of the first inning against the Mets. But I promise you by the All Star break, because the ra is gonna be like two. You really think Paul Skeens all of a sudden lost it, or you think it'll be like, oh man paining the ass. Now I gotta work now, I gotta work back. Come on, all right, let's go to our pal in yours damn buy it for an update?

00:33:38
Speaker 4: D ME.

00:33:38
Speaker 1: What's going on? Man? Home opener for.

00:33:40
Speaker 5: The Kansas City Royals taking on the Minnesota Twins today. Patrick Mahomes is in attendance watching the Royals lead Minnesota by score of two to one. Are we going live to Patrick Mahomes Kaufman Stadium, DBI. I will say this. I know you're a uniform guy. Did you see that the Royals slightly changed their gold and blue? No?

00:33:59
Speaker 1: I didn't that. I bring you some fun look at that. So just a different shade of it, say.

00:34:04
Speaker 2: Went with a lighter blue and a different shade of gold. So if you look in the stands, everyone's gonna have slightly different color jerseys.

00:34:10
Speaker 5: Well right now, Salvador Prez just struck out. So Royals though up to one in that contest against Minnesota by the way. Don't want to rub it in one of my Survivor picks of the week, Kansas City. There you go, the inside joke of us here on Fox Sports Radio. 00:35:55
Speaker 2: Back to you, Thank you, Dan Beyer. I was just thinking about all these nip it in the bud excuses. No what I was thinking of when he said, uh, super Bowl is going to be back in Vegas.

00:36:09
Speaker 1: It's it's a quick little flight for us, right. That'll be one one to look forward to, you know.

00:36:13
Speaker 2: So I was thinking when he was talking about Justin Ganey, I was thinking that was a nice, little polite way of saying that you gained some weight. No, just little little ganny, little ganny, little ganny, little ganny.

00:36:23
Speaker 1: Just not not just a little game yet a bunch of girls go cookies, a little ganny, little gainey. That nothing major.

00:36:30
Speaker 2: But yeah, if the greatest excuse that we all use, probably to nip it in the bud, is to always approach a social situation like, oh man, I'm exhausted, just a sort of so you can, like heads your sort of weak if I dip if I dip out, I told you, yeah, like, oh man, I feel too great.

00:36:50
Speaker 1: We always do these things just to give us some wiggle room. All right, Well you tell you think about your wiggle room.

00:36:56
Speaker 2: Well I tell people coming up, you know, I'm getting my wiggle room renovated, just so you know. Yeah, yeah, new floorid yeah, and you're not invited. There's an NBA star that might be changing the game of dating. He might be he might be opening the door to a whole new relationship out there. We'll explain a laker in the News. We'll get to that. Plus we got last one standing a fun game player Monday, all coming up right here on Fox Sports Radio. Who sings this? Sam? This is like the secret sham, Dianne Ferris. Are you gonna play next like Paula Cole? I know where only cowboys went? You're gonna play like some Katie Katie Lang. They ran away when they saw her, Harry Arpit.

00:37:42
Speaker 1: It's a good song though.

00:37:43
Speaker 2: Hey, we're Cavino and Rich live from the Fox Sports Radio studio and it's time for our tire Rack Play of the Day, and our choice is a no brainer.

00:37:53
Speaker 7: Sorry, gets it into camp Boozer, Pooh Boozer, Back to sar Now ahead to Kit and Boozer and you can't gotta steal caravan for mullets for free.

00:38:03
Speaker 1: He hit it, He hit the Long.

00:38:08
Speaker 7: Creek Porter frock a logo with three cans of a second left to go.

00:38:14
Speaker 1: I don't believe it. You got us taken the lead. It was a little there's a uh Pete Weber in there. Hey, that.

00:38:23
Speaker 2: Most amazing finished since Christian Latner. No doubt that call was courtesy of Westwood One. And that's our tire I Rack Play of the day. For over forty years, Tyrack has been helping customers find the right tires for how, what and where they drive, shipped fast and free, backed by free road hazard protection with convenient insallation options like mobile tire installation, ti iraq, dot com or tire buying should be Is that redemption for Latoner? Like Leightoner did it to them and now they did it to Duke? Is that is that redemption? Like thirty plus years in the making, Sam, you should have played redemption song? Bro, you blew it.

00:38:55
Speaker 1: You blew it damn shun song.

00:38:58
Speaker 2: Hey speaking up, Camboozer. Can we talk about this for a minute. Can we give a thumbs down to the Duke medical staff? This is the weakest some of the weakest stuff I've ever seen. Danny G now on the head. Danny G's our super producer. If you ask yourself coven on Ritch, what do you get all these great ideas? How do you guys do it?

00:39:17
Speaker 1: Well? A big part of it and the tip of this Yankee cap goes to Danny G. How do you do it? We put our heads together, But Danny G's like, hey, where do you think it is? Heads together?

00:39:26
Speaker 2: Like curly in the referee and a lot of the times, a lot of times we're all on the same wavelength, right because we all see the same things. But it's like, yo, man, did you see cam boozer and what they did? Did you see the medical staff trying to take the swelling down with a soda can? A soda can to the face. That's what they were using as like a cold compress. You know how Boxers is supposed to have. I have a cold compress for my morning bags. Well, you're a vain sucking courtesy of Harry's. If anyone's looking for one Harry's Men products, I have one in my fridge. Medical staff for Duke doesn't have one. And that's no bs I really have. Because I'm a fight fan. I've always wanted one. I'm like, well, if it takes the swelling down, I want one because I wake up looking like mister McGoo, I wake up. I have luggage. I don't have bags. I have luggage and I have a cold compress. Swear to god, do you have those little things out of your eyes before bed? Like women through the little uh strips cucumber slices. Yeah, I traded the cucumber slices sam for the cold compress. But they used a sodak. Does does the type of sodakin matter? I don't know what kind was it? Danny G Did you see I was a doctor Pepper. I hear they're the best to take down the swelling. So what kinda's thinking of the most low budget things you've ever seen? So I want to start thinking, do you find it low budget? Either if you're a little kid or you'll bumps your knee. You don't grab like a bag of peas out of.

00:40:49
Speaker 3: The freezer like Scottie Small's mom in Sandlot, she grabs a steak puts it right on his face.

00:40:53
Speaker 1: I can't.

00:40:54
Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, you use those things in emergency, there's no question. That's fine, that's steady. But not from a medical staff, just as a duke medical staffer.

00:41:01
Speaker 1: So you're saying, if someone had came up with a bum me, you don't think a bag of peas at a college and now he probably has affection because you know, you know how dirty those cans are dirty of than the ones who are sticking your nose between super Bowl weekend? Richard, that's how dirty.

00:41:16
Speaker 2: Okay, they're dirty, they're dirty.

00:41:19
Speaker 1: I got proof, Fair, I got proof, I got proof. Whole bunch of things. Do it next? Right here? Give mean On rich on a Monday FSR
