00:00:32
Speaker 2: Welcome to our two of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Now here's Matt Jones.

00:00:39
Speaker 3: Welcome back to KSR. This is not Matt Jones. This is Drew Franklin with Ryan Lemon and Nick Rousch and Shannon the Dude. However, I think we do have Matt Jones.

00:00:48
Speaker 4: Shannon.

00:00:48
Speaker 3: Am I seeing this correctly on our call screenersy.

00:00:51
Speaker 5: He's on there some time listener first time call home, mad?

00:00:54
Speaker 3: Where are you calling us from?

00:00:56
Speaker 6: I'm about to leave DC, and I before before I left, I had to take a second to talk about yesterday or excuse me, Sunday in that game because Drew, I know you appreciate this probably all you guys do. Watching that game.

00:01:14
Speaker 7: And watching Duke lose in person.

00:01:16
Speaker 6: Has to be one of my three or four best sporting memories non Kentucky of my life, maybe honestly number one. It was absolutely joyous being in that building watching the Duke hearts break, and before it kind of gets out of my mind, while it's still there, I had to call and share it because I have never in a non Kentucky sporting event jumped higher than I did on.

00:01:41
Speaker 3: See we've all seen the many reactions in every angle you can possibly watch. Was the arena, I mean, just to change it.

00:01:49
Speaker 4: It was amazing. It was amazing.

00:01:51
Speaker 6: I mean both games, like on Friday night, the Duke Saint John's game was had a.

00:01:58
Speaker 7: Awesome crowd, and.

00:02:01
Speaker 6: You know, the Duke Yukon game probably for about thirty minutes. The first thirty minutes was just kind of because Duke had a big lead the whole time, but in those last seven or eight minutes you could kind of sense that Yukon had a chance to come back. It was electric and it was probably you know, half Duke fans half Yukon fans, so it would go back and forth and back and forth and just as a neutral party to sit there and be in that and then when they get that steal, like I was on press row and I stood up.

00:02:33
Speaker 4: I couldn't. I didn't.

00:02:34
Speaker 6: I couldn't even make myself stay down, and I jumped, and I don't think that's allowed. I don't think they were, you know, but I wasn't the only one.

00:02:42
Speaker 4: I mean I watched I an.

00:02:43
Speaker 6: Eagle jumped from broadcasting the game.

00:02:46
Speaker 4: It was.

00:02:46
Speaker 7: It was absolutely electric.

00:02:48
Speaker 6: And then looking around and seeing Yukon people losing their minds and Duke people crying. I'm amazed they didn't get more shots on TV of the of like tears in the sadness was just absolutely wild.

00:03:03
Speaker 3: We're not big Yukon fans around here, but it was weird cheering for them. Did you kind of have that same feeling too?

00:03:07
Speaker 4: You could mean to help it?

00:03:09
Speaker 6: I could, I mean how I couldn't help it, Like I hate Yukon, but it was, it was awesome. And then I think because it was so unexpected, like you know how in big sporting moments now everybody has their phone out, but that really didn't happen because I don't think people expected that play to occur like it did, so it was everybody's kind of wrapped in the moment. And then when it was over, the security I don't know if they just it's if everybody broke.

00:03:36
Speaker 4: Contain or what.

00:03:37
Speaker 6: But there were just people on the court everywhere, and Bill Murray is out there, he's dancing with the Connecticut band and it was it was just electric. But this was kind of what was awkward but also fun, Well, not fun, it was just awkward. So everyone is with the Yukon people on the floor, and Duke then has to go into their press conference. So their press conference is kind of back and kind of hard to find. And when I get back there, there's Cameron Boozer and John Shire and you may have seen I took a picture Boozer's eyes swelling up. Shire is sitting there and there's only I mean, Drew, you Ryan. You guys have been to those press conferences. There's normally in the NCAA tournament, what sixty seventy eighty people.

00:04:22
Speaker 4: Or something like that at those press conferences.

00:04:24
Speaker 6: Yep, there were maybe six people in the room because everybody was out on the court with Yukon. So I walk in and it's like everybody's almost expecting you to ask a question because no one's there, and of course it's also sort of sad, and Boozer's crying, and everyone's just looking around, going who's going to ask a question?

00:04:47
Speaker 7: And no one asked a question.

00:04:49
Speaker 6: And it was like being in the most awkward group therapy session but with no one wanting to speak. It was so uncomfortable.

00:04:56
Speaker 7: I took that picture and just had to leave. It was like it was really uncomfortable.

00:05:01
Speaker 3: Also, like the ESPN asked for permission to use your photo. You tweeted that screenshot yesterday.

00:05:05
Speaker 6: Yeah, I like, yeah, well they of course, no one knows I worked there, included for I mean, I don't know if the bosses do much less the social media intern So I did like to ask me for permission. I mean that picture I read as soon as I'd taken it, that was a pretty amazing picture with his eye swelling up like that. And then as I walked out of the press conference, you know, the Duke locker room was right there, and you could hear dudes bawling outside of.

00:05:32
Speaker 4: The locker room.

00:05:33
Speaker 6: And you know, the only time I can remember something like that was twenty ten, when when uh, when when Kentucky lost that locker room was kind of like that. But this was just I guess it was because it was so sudden, and you know the ad, the ad of Duke this woman and John Shire they're hugging and kind of like trying to console each other. It was it was both the height of elation and like the worst sadness you can see right next to each other.

00:06:04
Speaker 3: Any other stories from Roubin Elbows with the Zagorias and the Goodmans in the Norlanders of the world. I mean you were with well the national media.

00:06:13
Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean those people you know for so long have hated us, but the national media, a lot of them, not necessarily those guys you mentioned, but just a bunch of people got together and watched the Saturday night games and it was fascinating to hear, you know, to hear them talk about who's going where, what coaches were good dudes, What coaches.

00:06:31
Speaker 7: Weren't You know, Ron, you would have liked, what.

00:06:35
Speaker 6: Random coaches you know might have mistresses like you like learning everything?

00:06:43
Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, hey, Matt, going back to the game for just a minute. You probably didn't see it in the moment, but what what did you think about Danny Hurley essentially headbutting the referee.

00:06:51
Speaker 6: Yes, yeah, I didn't see that in the moment, How I am that is?

00:06:56
Speaker 4: That is nuts? I don't know.

00:06:58
Speaker 6: I guess he was angry at him, but that it was so weird and I loved. My favorite moment of the entire thing is the Duke announcer asking for a technical, like, is there anything more?

00:07:09
Speaker 4: Is there anything more duke than?

00:07:12
Speaker 6: After that moment, him getting the announcer asking for a technical for a.

00:07:16
Speaker 4: Guy running on the floor.

00:07:18
Speaker 6: I mean, I thought that was one of the that might have been the funny. That's the most duke thing that could possibly happen. And it also confirmed you remember there was a story earlier in the week Drew that said, is Duke still hate able? The answer is, of course yes. I mean, America celebrates when Duke loses more than anything else. I don't think there's anything else in sports that people universally celebrate more than Duke losing.

00:07:46
Speaker 4: And you could feel that on Sunday.

00:07:48
Speaker 8: I thought I was, I was kind of proud of you. You know that they jumped out such a big lead. You didn't leave, you stayed. Got the witness one of the greatest.

00:07:56
Speaker 6: I stayed because I wasn't like personally invested in it, and also, you know, it was it was so Stanford Steve that Scott Van Pelt's got.

00:08:05
Speaker 9: You guys know who that is huge dukie.

00:08:09
Speaker 6: He is a huge duchie and his seats were next to mine for most of the time. He went down on the floor for the last few minutes, so I wasn't with him when the shot went in, but I sat next to him in the other games and just getting to know him and listening to him. He is an awesome dude, Like he's you know a lot of times you meet these people and they're not as nice as you hope they are. He he's an awesome dude and listen to him tell stories and stuff. So that was great. But yeah, he he was. He is a big dukie and I know he wasn't He wasn't the happiest at the end.

00:08:40
Speaker 9: I keep refreshing their podcast because I want to hear his pain in his voice, like I want all of the duke pain. That was just too Oh, it was incredible. Is you're up closer than normal for these games? Do you? Is herly a psycho all the time?

00:08:56
Speaker 4: Like? Yeah, I went.

00:09:01
Speaker 6: And so my seats weren't great for the media parts. But when the Duke Saint John's game ended, I was. I went and just kind of set behind the Yukon bench, just in a regular seat. And he's a psycho path. You know, for three years I was in the student section at Duke for Skrzyzewski and he was a psychopath. And Cal, you know, for all the thing about kl Yellen, Shozhevsky yelled a lot more than Cal, but Danny Hurley yells more than all of them. And Danny, I'm a maze. He doesn't get technicals all the time. But they also the referee seemed to laugh when he yells too, so I don't know why that works.

00:09:38
Speaker 4: But he is a psychopath.

00:09:39
Speaker 6: But I will also say when you sit up close, especially the Duke Yukon game Saint John's maybe not quite so much, but especially the Duke Yukon game, you could see kind of how far we were away from actually really being good. Like the stuff Yukon runs is crazy, Like they run so much Offen, I mean, Duke to some extent, they just kind of overpower like camera Boozer just sort of backs people in. But Ukon runs so many sets and so much motion, and and you know if you miss one cut they score or get an open look. You get a sense of how much better those teams kind of were than us this year. And you can really see that when you're up closed.

00:10:23
Speaker 3: Well, help you enjoy the rest of your trip. We're doing our best year. I'm trying to keep Ryan reeled in as best I can. I'm trying trying. We're having a great time with Nick Rouse here. Can you reveal what you're doing next? Or you just want to take a time.

00:10:35
Speaker 6: I'm actually just kind of using it as a chance to recharge. But I and I wasn't gonna call in, but there was I can feel it kind of. I don't know the you know, it's not in the moment anymore, and I just definitely wanted to share. I sit there and think of like the top sporting moments where I was in the arena and the two thousand and eight Rider Cup is right there, but this one is right there with it. I mean, part of the problem Ryan is a lot of Kentucky's great moments. I've been outside of the arena because I've been true.

00:11:08
Speaker 5: You didn't get a witness it.

00:11:10
Speaker 8: But you talked about one soccer match you were at the on your trip where like the home team won a big game or something. Maybe talk about that with how that awesome?

00:11:18
Speaker 7: That was?

00:11:18
Speaker 6: Yeah, at the at the at the Euros, I went to a couple of soccer games that were like that.

00:11:24
Speaker 7: You know, I've been to the Tour de France.

00:11:25
Speaker 6: The Masters, but I don't think anything has ever produced that spontaneous moment of surprise like that because it went.

00:11:35
Speaker 4: You know, it's kind of what happened with.

00:11:36
Speaker 6: The Alway Santa Clara game, where it just it happened so quick and you didn't really have a chance to process it that it made it almost even crazier in the moment, except in this case it was to win the game and to go to the final four.

00:11:49
Speaker 4: So yeah, it was. It was. It was awesome.

00:11:52
Speaker 6: And thank you guys and written Anek, thank you all for filling in. I just wanted to check in.

00:11:56
Speaker 3: All right, enjoy the rest of your week off. I appreciate the call.

00:12:00
Speaker 4: All right, see you up.

00:12:02
Speaker 5: He just appreciated Matt Scow.

00:12:03
Speaker 3: I was waiting for that moment. Felt pretty good to appreciate the call. Good here from Matt though, what's crazy. They're gonna be playing that replay forever and he will have been there for it.

00:12:10
Speaker 8: I'm a little jealous, to be honest, that he was there. First of all, I thought that, you know, the Friday night games were awesome. Then he goes back for the Sunday game almost got him, Rick almost got him.

00:12:19
Speaker 9: I cannot. I still don't even know how they came back. I still know the best part of the Like, there's there's so many layers of the onion to peel back from Duke's loss. We just keep getting new ones. The fact that Duke had a video three weeks ago on their social media channels of John Shire coaching up the exact same end of game situation and they couldn't execute. I mean, all they had to do was just sit there and hold the ball or I don't know, all the time out literally do anything except turn it over. And I I just I just couldn't stop laughing. I mean it just I felt like Jeff Bikoro after he sees a big Kentucky touchdown, how we just kind of got a giggle. I was cackling after Duke got taken down in dramatic fashion.

00:13:05
Speaker 3: Before we take our next break, Shannon, I looked up and I saw our guy. Brett has just been on hold forever. I cannot leave Brett on hold any longer. At this point is on me. So Brett, what's up?

00:13:16
Speaker 10: I just had a few questions. I'm always was a football dude until the mid eighties. I hope will Stein gets us going. I'm grateful for Stoops getting us to be noticed and stuff, but I think Stein's going to take us to the next level. But I had a basketball question too. I can't understand how Jalen Klaytance is going to be picked in the top ten when he only played two games and his knees still swelling, and it's obvious that he would have made a difference in our season if he'd have been on the floor. And I was just wondering, maybe Moe Williams, maybe that's why I brought him in too, to try and talk this guy into coming back, because his money value would do nothing but go up if his knee heels up. And uh, I don't see why they don't bring Rondo in because they said when he was in the NBA.

00:14:17
Speaker 11: That he was perfect, that he would make a hell of a.

00:14:20
Speaker 10: Coach someday and uh on his X and o's because if you noticed some of the plays that we ran, it didn't seem like we had any plays. He just threw the ball and said go at it. Uh so I think it would make a big advantage. And so what he got busted from marijuana patiably acceptible nowadays.

00:14:39
Speaker 4: Anyway, And.

00:14:42
Speaker 3: Thanks for hanging on so long. And oh know, were we good there, Shannon?

00:14:46
Speaker 7: Was there? No?

00:14:48
Speaker 4: Really good?

00:14:48
Speaker 7: Yeah?

00:14:49
Speaker 3: Okay, I thought I heard a word. It was kind of muffled there. Uh on the Rondo thing, Sure, we'd all love him. We also have to remember Rondo made one hundred million dollars in his career, and some people might not want to go work. Yeah, speak for Rondo. But if I had one hundred million, I love Kentucky basketball. I would be sitting in front road watching again.

00:15:06
Speaker 5: My kid play me.

00:15:07
Speaker 9: He and a coach is a terrible lifestyle. It's not this is not fun what they're doing. It's three hundred and sixty five days a year. You don't get any days off. They would be miserable. So I would not be jump chopping at the bit to do it. I would also say two. Jene Quaintens isn't on any mock drifts that I'm seeing he's slipping. He's still first round, but he's not projected lottery as he was. I mean, what a terrible year for him to do this because this class is loaded. The top ten ain't changing, but he'll still be a top twenty twenty five from CBS didn't have him in the first round and ESPN doesn't have it.

00:15:39
Speaker 8: I worry about him because all these teams will do their own physical checks and if that knee is still not healthy or if he did reinjure it this season, that's just gonna drop him even farther.

00:15:47
Speaker 3: Oh, he's going the wrong way. But a proven team like I'll just say the Thunder someone will take a gamble on a guy who could just come in and be an elite shot block or something like that. But there's no doubt he's sliding based on how this year went.

00:15:57
Speaker 9: I mean, he would definitely get taken into Secon around because those pixel anything you can hit a potential top ten guy, it'd be a good year to be drafting in the NBA. A lot of good players out there.

00:16:06
Speaker 3: Yep, we're taking another break It's good hearing from Matt Jones and DC about the game and our guy Bread there. Sorry, am I crazy? I thought I heard something on that. I thought I heard something, Okay, just so I was like to be to be I thought, yeah, I think his phone dumped it dumped it for it. So we're all good there. We'll be right back after this break. Welcome back to Kentucky Sports Radio. Drew Franklin here with Ryan Lemon, Nick Raush, and Shannon the Dude. You know the Final Four is coming up, and so is prime time for your skin. 00:17:38
Speaker 1: Uh.

00:17:38
Speaker 3: We heard from Matt in that segment. Also, we had a I think maybe a submission from social media.

00:17:44
Speaker 9: Is this the avision Twitter?

00:17:46
Speaker 3: Yeah, well it's the AT. It's the at Vince Merrow Twitter or the coat? What's what's him?

00:17:51
Speaker 5: I've heard of him? Coach Merrill at coach.

00:17:53
Speaker 9: Surely surely he was.

00:17:56
Speaker 3: He tweeted it's been thirty thirty minutes now. But when we were talking about Vince Marrow, he tweeted, L O L fake news. Hey buddy, We're not done yet the next one is going to have you turning your heads go carts. It's probably not about us, but you know, Nick, he did hit you with the Hello Nick Rousse.

00:18:12
Speaker 5: So hello Nick Grouch.

00:18:14
Speaker 3: It could be a shot this way, it could be. Let's let's be around you think the dogs listen.

00:18:21
Speaker 9: Yeah, yeah it's okay. Hey, Vince, I hope it's going well.

00:18:24
Speaker 4: Good job.

00:18:25
Speaker 9: Yeah you got him now, but it's a long way to go till Sidny He's tweet.

00:18:28
Speaker 8: To you from the sideline. During the LOUISLL Kentucky games, it was I was hell.

00:18:34
Speaker 9: Faint grouse in that Wolville press box. I couldn't believe it. I couldn't believe, but I could though. I knew it was gonna come at some point, but I just didn't know during the game. From the side, that was only one of the like he's he fired off multiple But you know, if you get the win, you deserve to take the victory lap. So you can take the victory of light from now. But that's what like, I don't think people outside of here understand how intense this rivalry is gonna get. You have two coaches who were quarterbacks at the same high school, that both went and played at U of L. There are coaches from UK and U of L on both staffs.

00:19:16
Speaker 5: That's right, they got to.

00:19:16
Speaker 3: Switch the recruiting coordinator, just kind of switch.

00:19:19
Speaker 9: Yeah, Chase Hike and Pete knuckt To just changed jobs.

00:19:22
Speaker 3: Do you think they they're about the same size. Do you think they were just like, here's my UK polos.

00:19:28
Speaker 6: They did that.

00:19:29
Speaker 9: It's like a jersey squad after a basketball game. But but like that is going to make it ultra competitive. There's a lot of really talented players in this upcoming class. Uh and and to be frank, Louiville has more of them right now, right with Brown.

00:19:42
Speaker 4: I know Ron.

00:19:44
Speaker 9: Westmoreland that was a kid, I mean recruiting sites had articles written of him committing to Louisville and he flipped to Kentucky. So that that was a good one for a nice little notch in the belt for the cast. But there's still some other big ones out there. There's a wide receiver from north in Kentucky who is committed to play baseball at Louisville, like he committed to play baseball Loisale when he was not even in high school.

00:20:06
Speaker 4: Yet.

00:20:06
Speaker 9: Kentucky's recruited for football. He's a good player. So but it's it's going to be very intense between these two programs away from the field, and then when it gets on the field, it's going to be fun. How many close Kentucky Looisville football games can you remember?

00:20:22
Speaker 7: Uh?

00:20:22
Speaker 3: They've been pretty lopsided here lately.

00:20:24
Speaker 9: It was the time that Lamar fumbled. Did you did you remember that?

00:20:28
Speaker 3: Remember you see him do the Heisman man Lamar?

00:20:31
Speaker 9: Yeah, he did the hazard fumble. That was a close game in Louisville loss. There was one close game with Charlie and Joker and it was the worst football game ever played. It was like watching the UFL. There was fumbles all over the place. Kentucky won that one and then Stevee got loose. But most of them have been pretty well lopsided. I think we're gonna get a highly contentious battle. This would be a year. Would be fun to have the Governor's Cup first the year, just from a like, yes, crap talking, like the juice would be so high, but what we don't need that. We can save it to the end of the year. We can wreck the card seasons and then have that juice flowing for that Alabama game in Week two, which I gotta say, just prepare for a lot of people to predict that upset this summer.

00:21:12
Speaker 3: Okay, is that a trendy pick with Debor go in the wrong direction?

00:21:16
Speaker 9: He is bad in his first kind of big games. We saw what they did to Gus smells On in Florida State last year, a terrible Forida State team, and then the year prior they laid an egg on their first time away from Alabama. So you get this big stage, you got a fun offense, it's a it's the time that that can really get people saying we've been telling you will Stines the next big thing and just beat Alabama. You know, like instead of having McDonough making fun of Kentucky for not being able to get a playoff before a halftime that was fun, they will be talking about how high powered this offense is. Is it going to be enough to do it? I'm I'm gonna predict it because why the hell not? Right, Like Cats are going to beat the Crimson tied in week two, We're going to be storming the field. It's going to be outstanding. I can't wait for it. Just go ahead, make sure you're there for that Week two game in hell what not Week one two Youngstown State? Watch the Cats put up fifty boyds.

00:22:11
Speaker 3: Feed the studs. Let's go to Moni real quick for our next break. Shannon, all right, ay, money, Hi Monnie.

00:22:17
Speaker 12: What's up? Hey?

00:22:19
Speaker 9: Hey?

00:22:19
Speaker 11: First time, long time? Why I got kind of a fun unique story about the Duke Kentucky game back in the day, kind of on the Hills of matt So the time that that game was going on, I was playing for a state championship at Freedom Hall. The exact same time of the game, we were playing University Heights. So so we're playing that game, we don't have any idea what's going on, and crowd's going back when nothing's happening. And and then so the first time I ever actually got to watch that game was with Sean Woods. He took me, we sat down at his house and I got to watch it on video with him. And that was the first experience I had seeing that game.

00:22:57
Speaker 3: Oh, what an amazing memory. Sorry, I put you up against a hard there, but it's good to hear from you. We'll be right back. TJ Smith, personal injury attorney, called TJ.

00:23:05
Speaker 2: He'll make them pay now more Kentucky Sports Radio present it by Stockton Mortgage.

00:23:10
Speaker 3: Here's Matt Jones. I am not Matt Jones. I am Drew Franklin, filling in format on KSR with Ryan Lemon, Nick Raus, and Shannon the Dude Gouys. I'm in trouble. I messed up a little bit. Oh no, that was my guy Moni. I know Moni, and I set them up for failure. The heartbreak was too close heartbreak for nobody. I knew when I went to him, we're cutting this a little close. Maybe it's just a question he had a story. Had to cut him off. Oh my god. It never fails.

00:23:35
Speaker 2: Anytime you give somebody like thirty seconds, they're the person on hold who's got the longest story.

00:23:40
Speaker 3: Well, and it was going to be a good story. I love money. Used to work with Moni.

00:23:43
Speaker 8: I've heard a lot of people talk about that state championship game at Freedom Hall while Duke was playing Kentucky in the NCAA Tournament ninety two. And the more it went on, people would leave their seats during the state championship game, go up to the concourse and watch the game that was on the concourse TVs and they would.

00:23:58
Speaker 5: Scream and yell.

00:23:59
Speaker 8: At one point, the referees and the players on the court stopped and looked up because they couldn't know what They didn't know what was going on and didn't have the idea what was happening at that time.

00:24:06
Speaker 3: It's wild. I gotta send him a little note or something telling him because I feel bad. I'm sorry about that. I set you up for failure. Uh, Clark's pump shop full hunt. If I've two eight seven, Let's go to John real quick. Knocked that out, so we'll make him wait and do that again.

00:24:20
Speaker 4: What's hey, guys, what's up? What's happening? Right?

00:24:25
Speaker 3: We're just radio show? What's up?

00:24:29
Speaker 4: So? Uh listen?

00:24:30
Speaker 11: I know news kind of broke out that Florida's seven nine center is entering the transfer portal.

00:24:36
Speaker 4: What do you think about any chances Kentucky line get him.

00:24:40
Speaker 9: I think that would be a terrible idea. John, have you watched him play basketball?

00:24:43
Speaker 3: Doesn't really move well.

00:24:44
Speaker 9: If he was good enough, he would have played.

00:24:49
Speaker 3: I mean, he's he's a sight to see.

00:24:52
Speaker 9: Yeah, if he was good he would have played. I mean Florida, they they were a good team. If he was good enough, he would have played.

00:24:59
Speaker 3: Yeah shit the call. No, it's when he was at Rock. I made a point when they're at warm ups, I went and stood his club. I mean I didn't walk out on the court and you know, go back to back with him, but I wanted to get as close as I possibly could. It is unbelievable how tall that guy is.

00:25:13
Speaker 8: It's amazing, whether it was the VCU or someone who they were playing the NCA tournament and a six to eight guy was standing next time and look like me standing next to him.

00:25:21
Speaker 3: Crazy. But but he just doesn't he doesn't get around well.

00:25:24
Speaker 9: And you know what, No, that's fine. He can go play a smaller school and be good there. True. Yeah, like the remember Kenny George, Uh he was at U c Irvin. I want to say there's also another guy for UNC Asheville. That was a big guy. That might have been Kenny George. I don't know, you get all the giants mixed up, but yeah, he can go somewhere. Tac Taco was it Taco Man? That would have been it. That would have been an all time Duke losts because Taco Fall almost beat Zion. That was a second round back at twenty eighteen. But hey, you know what, I it's gonna be. It's gonna be hard to top the Duke loss on Sunday. That was.

00:26:00
Speaker 3: Taco played in the Celebrity Game this year. I feel like that's unfair. I mean, like Kevin Hart plays in that game. I can't have Taco fall out there. That's where he is in his journey now, I mentioned earlier. I want to talk a little TV. Yes, you did, got a few TV things going on A if you have you anybody on Neighbors, we keep de signing the homework.

00:26:18
Speaker 5: I'm gonna watch us.

00:26:20
Speaker 3: I'm on episode one, do you think, Shannon?

00:26:23
Speaker 9: Yeah, it's crazy.

00:26:24
Speaker 2: They're going back and forth between the neighbors that are out kind of in the desert and then the fighting over the beachfront property.

00:26:32
Speaker 4: I like it.

00:26:32
Speaker 5: I'm hooked, so I'm in.

00:26:34
Speaker 3: So many people warn me about episode six though we even warned people on this show. I haven't seen it yet. I kept putting it off. I watched a couple of nights ago. You can't warn people enough for episode six?

00:26:46
Speaker 5: Are you kidding me?

00:26:48
Speaker 3: There's more minutes with nudity than minutes without nudy. It's at a it's at a newdist colony. So it's just that's just the episode yourself living there there, what's possibly going wrong there. I'm just warning you all episode one through five grade, episode six. I don't know, it's on you. You've been told if you want to watch it, it's entertaining. There's just a lot of warning there. There's a lot happening. There's a little happening. There's a lot of happening. There's a lot going on. But last night I watched Paradise season finale? Are you all Paradise people? That's the one where the president likes Kentucky basketball.

00:27:22
Speaker 9: I like the people in Paradise. We don't have the hulua at our house though, so that's why we have not seen the Paradise.

00:27:27
Speaker 3: Well, I'm gonna be very careful not to spoil it because nobody likes that person.

00:27:31
Speaker 9: I like that guy though. He was in This is Us.

00:27:33
Speaker 3: Oh yeah, I can't think of his name, but he's one of the main people.

00:27:36
Speaker 9: Yeah, yeah, he's good.

00:27:37
Speaker 3: But I just need anyone that's on the same way wavelength with me. The way the show wrapped up, I feel like they wrote it for me and KOSR. There's just a there's a big there's a thing, there's a crossover. We already collided with Kentucky basketball all last season. Yes, a couple of weeks ago. He's doing the big speech about empires and dynasties falling, and then he says, but don't get me started on Kentucky basketball. I thought they were done poking me, but no, the finale last night, they had one last big poke. I've gotta be careful not to give anything out from my fellow Paradise fans. It just came out yesterday. But the major KSR a crossover on that show, and I love that show. Nick. One show that you're losing TVG my other TV topic big news in the horse racing community. Yeah, yeah, what's going on?

00:28:24
Speaker 9: So the sport of horse racing, it's in a very transitional period and it's very healthy on big race days, and it's very healthy if you have lots of money. It's not very healthy for the average joe's like me, the guys who like to just show up, you know, make ten dollar bets right pop on the TVG on there Gulf Stream, Indy being cone like says this twelve the ones looking good at Sharton Petti, I'll put two across want it and hot damn it came in a second. We're winning some money, right, Like, the casual fan experience has not been great, particularly the Caws. Don't get me started on CAW's computer assisted at wagering. It's it's the worst. They're they're taking money out of our hands.

00:29:11
Speaker 3: Yeah, we don't want to confuse Ryan on that.

00:29:13
Speaker 9: Yeah, yeah, it's it's the worst. But what's happened. TVG has been around since ninety nine. Actually started in Louisville. They tested it for a few years and they're like, oh, this is working, we're gonna give it to everybody. And it's been in business ever since then. They show all the races all the time. It's Horse Racings Network. FanDuel took it over a couple of years ago. They started sprinkling in some k Adams, a little bit of Boogey Cousins and Michelle Beadle, and on a Friday they said, we're done sprinkling, We're done with horse racing FanDuel TV. We are pulling the plug on TVG. They will be at the Triple Crown events this year. They're still going to be at Keenelan, but once this year's Triple Crown and Breeders' Cup is all over with. They're taking the hosts out and then it will go black next year. One hundred people are losing their jobs. It's it sucks for those people, but it most actually sucks for a very specific demographic. It's it's it's my dad's demo, right, Like there there were people on the message board who are like, I'm gonna have to break this news to my father in law who watches TVG every day and has no happening. Yeah, because you just it's you go to the bar, it's on the TV at the corner, like.

00:30:16
Speaker 3: Three o'clock at a bar. Someone, if it's not already on, you're getting can you turn that to TVG?

00:30:21
Speaker 9: Yeahs like why why not play a couple of races at o'clon, right, Like it's fun And to take that away, it's it it it's awful. It's awful for the sport of horse racing, for the terrible that you're removing this gateway to it now. I will be somewhat optimistic that Fox owns a lot of rights to like Nayra, so they get all the Saratoga's they do. Uh, Churchill Down's meet. They also did the Arkansas Derby last Saturday. So Fox like they're playing motorcycle racing on f S two. They could just take some rights to some of these other tracks, like they get about Keenland, and they could make essentially a new version of TVG which would probably have it. But it just it's one thing to casually football in and watch. It's another thing to have to seek it out. And so like, how does that affect the overall betting handle? Like, it's it's bad. It sucks for sport, and I love it. Horse racing is my you know, obviously my first patches Kentucky football, but it's dupe horse racing. I need to just have fun. I get to go. You a Derby hat right now? Oh yeah, so Derby. I'm we're shopping for Derby high reason my Super Bowl. Part of the reason we bought the house in the neighborhood we do is so I can walk to Churchill Downs on the first Saturday and met Okay, I love it. It is so much fun to just have the program out with the whole day of races ahead of you. It's so exciting. You don't have to be a high roller to enjoy it. But the way that this sport is trending, they're making it to where you have to be a high roller, and that sucks, Like that's that's not a good business model to just abandon irregular fans. And this is another step in it with Fandul pull and the plug on TVG after twenty seven years, good punch.

00:31:57
Speaker 3: Big news around Kentucky to the horse racing community.

00:32:00
Speaker 5: Are they gonna watch it? Throw red cafes, thorowbread Man.

00:32:03
Speaker 3: We need to go there soon, I know.

00:32:05
Speaker 5: But it was on twenty four hours a day, all day long, every day.

00:32:07
Speaker 3: Nix the most like being able to walk to Churchill Downs. I miss walking to Thoroughbread every day.

00:32:12
Speaker 9: I always enjoyed in my younger days coming home from the the watering holes at about one am and then just randomly picking a Japanese horse to win a race and you get the whole crew on it, like it's so much fun. You have no idea what you're doing, but it's like, hell, yeah, let's watch a horse race.

00:32:27
Speaker 3: I bet a pick six one time. I think I had one eye open when I was putting the bed in, you know, squint and making sure it comes down to the last race. I'm not making this up. Every horse was wearing the same silk. I didn't know which was mine and that wasn't because it was late like the Japanese horse race. They're all just wearing a black silk, no numbers.

00:32:45
Speaker 9: I was like, what is going on? I don't even know which horse is mine? But I loved it and we're gonna miss that with you. We are we are at Kinland opening Friday. Heck yeah, that uh new paddock looks pretty pretty nice. I know, you know, people get weird by change, but like this one Churchy dance, when they make changes, they're like, what's the biggest thing we could put in here? Kentland? This it fits the laesthetic? Yeah yeah, which here's another thing, well, Keenland tip big Keenland days not as fun as just the random Wednesday when it's cloudy.

00:33:18
Speaker 3: Oh it's the time to go. Oh yeah you walk for early Sunday.

00:33:21
Speaker 9: Oh yeah, that's nice too. But like the Saturday's tickets, it's a lot. Yeah. I mean, you know, they're time and place for everything. But I'm uh, I like I like to Yeah, I've got to go to electionon for football on Thursday might be a little late getting by God.

00:33:35
Speaker 3: I forgot a flat tire out there on ourselves Road. I'll be there in about six hours.

00:33:38
Speaker 9: Yeah, there's enough time to watch three races.

00:33:41
Speaker 3: A few more TV movie things, Ryan, our guys. Steve's on just put out a movie.

00:33:45
Speaker 5: You were telling me about this.

00:33:46
Speaker 3: I tried to go. He had a big two night premiere over here at the Theater the Theater. It's called She Dances. He made it with his daughter Nice. So that's a big thing going around in this community right now. We're rooting for Steve. Hope that goes well. You know, I'm getting pretty close to my girl dad Era, so that's when I have on my radar. But I also wanted to let everybody else know that Steve's got a big project out there that they should go check out.

00:34:09
Speaker 9: So is he in it or is yeah?

00:34:10
Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, yeah, he's in it with these dogs.

00:34:12
Speaker 4: Yep.

00:34:12
Speaker 3: He wrote it and she's guess getting into her act. I don't know her career, but she's young and they did it together, so that's cool. And then I also have a confession. Yeah, and my wife was like, are you sure you want to say this in the airwaves?

00:34:23
Speaker 5: Bo boy Babby's warning, you must be good.

00:34:25
Speaker 3: Well, my favorite person to make fun of is me. I do it all the time, love making fun of myself. And I've been doing something lately that I feel like needs to get roasted, and I just can't keep that secret.

00:34:36
Speaker 5: So you have a little therapy session here right now.

00:34:38
Speaker 3: Yeah, I just need you all to know that I'm doing this, and I want all your arrows in my direction because I deserve a shot with these arrows. So I mentioned I love me some Paradise. Yes, finished that last night. I can't recommend enough. Same with neighbors. But there's a show I've been watching every night. I binge four seasons already and I started season five last night and I'm hooked. And you all, if I gave you a thousand guesses, you wouldn't get it. But I'm here to tell you all, KSR. I watch The Joy of Painting with Bob Ross. Oh yeah, yeah, you know. But I mean I sit down and like knock out six episodes in a sitting. It is, And to be honest, I think he's painted the same picture every episode, but it is it is kind of like my zin, He's just got this that tone, yes and peaceful. God, I'm there's like thirty seasons I'm knocking him out consecutively. By the end of the summer, I will have seen every episode of the Joy of Painting. And I just need people to know that I have that going on in my life because I'm not you know what, I am proud of it. I am proud of it. As dumb as that is.

00:35:42
Speaker 9: I Uh, you're admitting something. If that's an admission of confession, then I'm willing to confess to It's been out in my wheelhouse a little bit. But I had a run of about three years where that was the bedtime We're popping on some Bob Ross before we go to bed, because you're right, the voice so soothing. Wait, you fall asleep and then you wake up and it's still on. You're like, oh, I want to see him finish this paint. He's still in that same tree. Yeah, And you know what, there's plenty of him out there to run through, to burn and turn through. If you're working, you're at your laptop, you just kind of look in the background, like, h a tree looks kind of nice. What off snowscapes of mount.

00:36:18
Speaker 2: When he cleans his brush. You know, he doesn't he knocks it. He always laughs, what is.

00:36:25
Speaker 3: Wrong with you guys?

00:36:27
Speaker 9: I like when he brings out the animals at the beginning, I have like a chipmunk and his uh frocket.

00:36:33
Speaker 4: So I.

00:36:39
Speaker 9: Expected everybody to make fun of him and we're like, oh yeah, we love.

00:36:41
Speaker 4: The turn of unity.

00:36:42
Speaker 3: I feel seen. I feel seen right now. Well it started. You know, sometimes I don't sleep very well, so I would take my corn bread gummy after I've watched the shows I want to watch, and I would turn that on and most of the time I'd be asleep within five minutes because his tone. I mean, he hadn't even gotten to the Clouds or finished The Blue Sky yet. But here I've been really into it and instead of falling asleep, I'm knocking out like four episodes a night.

00:37:04
Speaker 8: The fact that you're binge watching it now makes me really concerned about you.

00:37:08
Speaker 3: I tried to be asleep by eleven pm last night. At two am, there's still watching watching. He tells you what colors.

00:37:15
Speaker 5: Oh yeah, goodness.

00:37:18
Speaker 3: I fully expected you all to make fun of me. Shannon, thank you for seeing me.

00:37:22
Speaker 2: Well, do you realize there's four hundred and five episodes, so you've got some work to do still.

00:37:26
Speaker 3: Yes, and the one I watched last night, season five, episode one, titled Mountain Waterfall, came out six months before I was born. There's January nineteen eighty five, thirty one seasons and yeah.

00:37:39
Speaker 4: There.

00:37:40
Speaker 3: I love the encouragement.

00:37:41
Speaker 9: And you know what drew when when you finish all thirty one seasons, you and I can go with Steven Peak up to Munthsy, Indiana. We can go to the Bob Ross Museum and we can experience the joy of painting and we can create our own landscapes for the KASR YouTube.

00:37:57
Speaker 3: Should we start a Joy of Painting podcast? That's probably can't we can describe what he's painting. I did not expect the reaction to be this. I hope I'm being made fun of because I can't believe I'm doing it, but I'm into it that Bob can paint.

00:38:11
Speaker 5: Man, I am really upset about all three of you guys.

00:38:14
Speaker 3: I'm waiting for a plot twist when he paints like a person or an automobile, because right now it's just trees and cloud for five seasons.

00:38:21
Speaker 2: To get that, like conspiracy theories, have you heard the conspiracy theory that Bob Ross is actually a murderer I have I don't believe painting all the scenes and where the bodies are. I'm just saying it just took a dark twist.

00:38:34
Speaker 3: See big conspiracy theory got huge. That one I can't get behind.

00:38:38
Speaker 9: It's a lot of scenes of murders.

00:38:42
Speaker 3: Well just check the mountains, trees, in the in the waters, because that's where they are. I can't I have to go to break. I can't believe. I confess that. I don't want to open more. But thank you for seeing me. Nick, Arash and Shannon, We'll be right back.

00:38:54
Speaker 9: We wash our brushes with odorous thinner, shake them off, and just beat the devil out of them. That's where you're taking all your hostilities.

00:39:03
Speaker 2: It's good stuff, that's great stuff.

00:39:07
Speaker 3: Welcome back to ks R Football Show. If you were thinking Nick Rouse is on today, I'm a little I'm a little late, but I'm gonna tune in now and see what they're saying about that new offensive line or what that defense looks like. I'm sorry we were caught up in the joy of painting, but that's what we're doing.

00:39:21
Speaker 5: Y'all got a man crush on Bob Rocks.

00:39:23
Speaker 3: I know, I didn't say about a man crush. I just my man's got a true talent.

00:39:28
Speaker 5: What's the talent painting? His paintings are awful and talking awful.

00:39:33
Speaker 3: Now you're just hard.

00:39:34
Speaker 9: Now you're just hating show me. I want to see a Ryan Lemon painting. Yeah, as the first stone, I.

00:39:43
Speaker 3: Do feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders, saying that in the microphone. Getting it out. Now I can go home and finish season five.

00:39:48
Speaker 5: You have full support of two of your guys here.

00:39:50
Speaker 3: I think it's gonna come over and have some bourbon. I got a few episodes.

00:39:54
Speaker 9: It's a great last way to enjoy your time before parenthood and baby time takes up all your time. Just a painting, that's right.

00:40:01
Speaker 3: And we do have more football talk to com We had a lot going on with Moe Williams. Matt called in Ralsh is back on Thursday.

00:40:27
Speaker 9: It's right, it's also exciting, but at the same time, it is just practice.

Speaker 3: Take care boys, go cat all right, Thanks man, I appreciate it. Remember if you see it on Facebook, just because it has a picture, it's not real. Had to have that talk with someone again yesterday. Look at you too, Ryan.

00:41:46
Speaker 8: It's too easy to be deceived because it is like, looks like it's definitely real.

00:41:51
