00:00:00 Speaker 1: And very happy Wednesday to you. At twelve oh seven in the West each the giant of Philip Show, mister Randy Wang is downstairs here in Santa Fe, New Mexico. 00:00:11 Speaker 2: John mister Peanut himself, Antonio Elviragosa Pinut has a new pitch for voters. If they want to make him governor, put me in charge in Sacramento and I'll only torture you for four years. 00:00:25 Speaker 3: In the past week, the governor's race has been shaken by another scandal. With so much uncertainty in California, nationally and abroad, we need a steady hand with proven executive leadership. 00:00:38 Speaker 2: A leader all of his scandals are so old no one remembers them. 00:00:42 Speaker 1: That is such a mistake because if he gets elected, he's going to go back on that promise and we all know it. 00:00:49 Speaker 3: A leader who knows how to take on the tough challenges with a record of delivering real results. 00:00:56 Speaker 2: That's why today did he film this on an iPhone? That's how he films most of his videos. You know what, It shows that he's budget conscious. 00:01:05 Speaker 3: That's why to day, I'm making a different kind of pledge to you. If elected, I will serve one term and only one term. As your next governor, I'll tackle California's affordability crisis, and I'll protect our economy and our people from Donald Trump's reckless attacks. I'm making this pledge for one reason, because every day I serve, every decision I make is about doing the job, not keeping the job or looking for the next one. 00:01:36 Speaker 2: We didn't Biden make the same promise he did, And if there's anything you don't want to do, it's copy Grampy Joe. Now, one of the reasons Tony might be making this pitch is because he is seventy three. By the time he would be inaugurated, he would be seventy four, which means if he was running for reelection in twenty thirty, he would be seventy eight. And then if you were to serve a full four year term as a second term governor, he would be in his eighties. 00:02:08 Speaker 3: That's all I got to say. 00:02:11 Speaker 2: Don't we did that before with Jerry Brown? Yeah? 00:02:17 Speaker 1: Eight hundred two two two five two two two East Telephone number one eight hundred two two two five two two two. Well, with the Democratic front runner and the race for governor, Eric Swalwell out of the race, out of the running and probably taking a lot of meetings and criminal defense attorneys. At this point, this race is anyone's to win. All the Democratic candidates certainly know that, particularly the ones who are pulling in single digits. Not only are Eric Swalwell's campaign aids up for grabs, not only are the people who endorsed him up for grabs, but so randy are his donors? 00:02:58 Speaker 2: Where is all the money get now that Swalwell's out? What is all that? What do all the strategists say? For an update on where the governor's race is today, here is ABC ten in Sacramento, yea Alex. 00:03:10 Speaker 4: Before dropping out over the weekend, Eric Swalwell had raised more than seven million dollars for his gubernatorial campaign. 00:03:17 Speaker 2: And I think one million of that came from Stephen Kluback. And we know what their relationship is like right now. No, don't ever, ever, ever betray Stephen Kluback or, to put it in his words, don't bust the trust. 00:03:38 Speaker 4: And had secured some high level endorsements like from the California Teachers Association and SCIU. 00:03:44 Speaker 2: And the CTA last night said let's try this again. We're endorsing Tom Steyer well, don't forget. 00:03:51 Speaker 1: We had a listener who was a member of the California Teachers Association who was in the room when the endorsement took place, and he said it was pretty close to fifty to fifty between Swalwell and Styer, and Swalwell won by a slim margin, but he won, so he got the endorsement. So I guess when Swalwell had his problems, it became easy for them to decide who would get the endorsement, both. 00:04:19 Speaker 4: Of which pulled their support as the allegations came out. So what comes next for all that support? I asked political experts Republicans stride to just Rob Stutsman says, the groups that head backed Eric Swalwell aren't rushing to fill the void left by his exit. 00:04:34 Speaker 2: I think, well, except for the CTA, they want to make sure they know we own this candidate. 00:04:41 Speaker 5: I think at the moment they're trying to. 00:04:43 Speaker 2: Think about it. 00:04:45 Speaker 1: Many of the people who got behind Swalwell got behind him simply for the reason that they thought that he was the winner. He would be the winner, and you want to back the winning horse because the winning horse gets all the goodies to disperse, and if you lose, you have nothing to give to your supporters. So I would imagine a lot of the people who supported Swallwell are going to try to determine who is most likely to win, and they're going to get behind that candidate. 00:05:12 Speaker 5: I think at the moment, they're trying to catch their breath and assess what's going on. They can't make another misstep to their members. 00:05:19 Speaker 4: Democratic strategist Andrew Acosta says donors who feel burned by Swallwell may not re engage at all. 00:05:25 Speaker 6: Smart money people are going to wait a little bit. 00:05:27 Speaker 2: But I don't think Steven Klubak's donating in this race anymore, not to Katie Porter, Stephen Klueback, Are you going to be giving any more money in this race? No smart idea. 00:05:44 Speaker 6: Smart money people are going to wait a little bit before they just jump on the next person. 00:05:48 Speaker 4: According to the latest numbers from the California Secretary of State's office, billionaire Tom Steyer leads the pack of front runners by a wide margin in fundraising, with more than well. 00:05:58 Speaker 2: But it was him giving him sell all that money. Is that really fundraising? He's really popular with one particular donor. 00:06:06 Speaker 4: With more than one hundred and twenty one million dollars, almost entirely his own money. 00:06:11 Speaker 2: I'm telling you right now, if Stier makes the top two, that billionaire tax is going to pass. 00:06:16 Speaker 1: Well you think about it, He's really the only one in the race besides mayhean with any money, And if no one knows what to do as a voter and he is on TV twenty four to seven, this may be one of those races where he who has the most money wins. 00:06:34 Speaker 2: I'd like to think that the average California voter is smarter than that, But. 00:06:38 Speaker 7: No, I don't know enough to give you any good information, but good luck finding someone who does. 00:06:44 Speaker 4: Matt Mayhan is second at roughly twelve million. Steve Hilton and Antonio via Ragosa are nearly tied, each raising just under seven million. But Stutsman says Stier's massive spending hasn't delivered the results one might expect. 00:06:58 Speaker 2: There is a ceiling to just buy a bunch of ads, asked Rick Caruso. 00:07:03 Speaker 1: And Rick Caruso was a normal person. This guy is a complete looney tune. 00:07:09 Speaker 5: Stier has spent north of one hundred and fifteen. 00:07:12 Speaker 2: Have you seen the video going around of when Tom Styr was running for president, and he started rapping karaoke. 00:07:18 Speaker 1: Oh yeah, because his entire strategy was to win the black vote in South Carolina. So he goes on stage and starts dancing to back that ass up. 00:07:30 Speaker 2: And now he did not have an ass to back up. 00:07:34 Speaker 5: Stier has spent north of one hundred and fifteen million dollars on ads. 00:07:40 Speaker 2: And he had does everything that's wrong with this system. 00:07:45 Speaker 1: But you know what, though it wasn't working for the longest time, it's just swallwell imploded. 00:07:52 Speaker 2: Katie. 00:07:52 Speaker 1: We hear his next and if no one else steps up and no one else catches fire, he's going to win by default. 00:08:00 Speaker 5: And he hasn't pulled away from this field, which suggests people have seen a lot of Tom Steyer and they're not exactly thrilled about it. So he has built an ame id that can serve him well. 00:08:12 Speaker 4: Political analyst Paul Mitchell says the math problem for Democrats hasn't gone away. 00:08:17 Speaker 8: There is potentially a reset, and the challenge for Democrats is that we still find ourselves in this same basic math function. Forty percent of votes are going to go towards the Republican candidates, sixty percent of votes are going to go towards the Democrats, and there's still seven Democrats who are trying to split up that pie. 00:08:36 Speaker 4: Mitchell says, candidates like jab Erbacera and Antonio vier Rigosa are now spending their reserves early, hoping to become the next destination for Swalwell's institutional money before ballots go out. 00:08:48 Speaker 2: I mean, yeah, this is when you get to start spending, because this is when people are finally paying attention and the ballots go out in three weeks. 00:08:56 Speaker 1: Well, the strategy for a lot of these candidates pulling in single digits was to wait until ballots go out and then start spending your money. But you're one hundred percent correct. Given the circumstances regarding Eric Swalwell and the deck of cards now being reshuffled, it's now or never. 00:09:14 Speaker 2: So you're seeing a big spend from Besara, You're seeing a big spend from Vira Gosa. Mayhen is going to start spending a whole bunch of money. The one candidate who isn't spending any money right now has no advice planned is Katie Porter. You can right here maybe because she knows what's coming. She has been very quiet this week She did an interview with KTLA that we will play later on in the show, but she hasn't been all over social media or even getting a bunch of free earned media doing the easiest interview ever talking about Swalwell. 00:09:50 Speaker 1: Well, remember the last week before the Swalwell story broke. He seemed sedate, He seemed like someone shot him with a tranquilizer gun. And this guy who liked to light Trump on fire everywhere he went suddenly had all of the energy extracted from his body. And now you have Katie lying low, which is something that she normally doesn't do. And I'm telling you it's because she knows what's around the corner well. And the way that they know is when a big publication is about to break a story like the Chronicle did last Friday on Swalwell, they go to him first and they say, this is what we're running with. 00:10:29 Speaker 2: Would you like to respond? So there were four or five days before that story broke that Swalwell knew exactly what was coming, He knew it was over. 00:10:39 Speaker 4: Meanwhile, he says, Swalwell's progressive supporters might find an ideologically similar candidate in Steyer or Katie. 00:10:46 Speaker 2: Porter, say Katie, you got a shout out. 00:10:48 Speaker 9: I'm pulling in to the bakery. 00:10:51 Speaker 6: Oh, we know, at some point Katie Porter's got to spend money and how and what she does and what she says, and those ads are going to be a big tell to see if she can actually move from ten to eighteen. 00:11:03 Speaker 4: Meanwhile, Stuffsman says San Jose Mayor Matt Mayhan's super pack is claiming a big fundraising weekend and promising fourteen to fifteen million dollars in new spending over the next week and a half. 00:11:15 Speaker 2: Ultimately, calling at tech Bros. Mayhe needs more money kick in. 00:11:21 Speaker 4: Ultimately, all three na lists. 00:11:23 Speaker 2: Stop paying signature gatherers to get homeless people to sign the anti billionaire tax pedition, get Mayheen in office. 00:11:32 Speaker 4: Ultimately, all three analysts agree new polling in a post Swalwell Field will likely inform where the big money moves next. 00:11:43 Speaker 6: All right, beca Habecker joining us right now, Becca, we talked a lot about is there a chance of two Republicans making it to the November election with Swalwell out? 00:11:51 Speaker 2: Now does that math. 00:11:53 Speaker 10: Change at all? 00:11:53 Speaker 2: Does it move the needle? 00:11:54 Speaker 9: Oh? 00:11:55 Speaker 4: You know, interestingly, both the Democratic and Republican strategist I spoke with said swawells exit actually makes a two Republican race less likely because it helps Democrats consolidate, and Stetsman pointed out that President Trump's endorsement of Steve Hilton, which splits rather than unifies, the Republican support, was welcome news for Democrats. 00:12:15 Speaker 2: All right, Becka, thank you so much. So that's what all the strategists are saying about. Where the state of the race is in California after Swalwell has been kicked out of everything. 00:12:26 Speaker 1: And the candidates who were left in the race running for governor all met for the first get together since the Swalwell news broke. 00:12:35 Speaker 2: And they all got asked about it, and they all started going after each other. Here is CBS eight. 00:12:39 Speaker 11: Elephant in the room with Swallwoll's dropping out of the race. We spoke to the Romanian candidates to see how they think that shifts the dynamic of the race. Already there's a lot more muzzlinging among the candidates. 00:12:52 Speaker 2: We want it. It's about to get fun, Johnny, Oh, yes it is. 00:12:57 Speaker 11: We want to know Republican Chad Bianco and mcrats Katie Porter and Tony Thurman were not at the earlier forum. 00:13:04 Speaker 2: Yeah, what is she doing this week? 00:13:07 Speaker 1: I'm telling you, I think she's lying low because she knows there's a video that's about to come out. 00:13:14 Speaker 12: Well, this race is wide open, restart a reset, and I think this is where all of us are going to be putting our best foot forward. 00:13:20 Speaker 2: Now. I mean, if you do want a candidate that has zero scandal, Betty, yes, your person. I think she's calling herself boring, Betty. That's great. 00:13:29 Speaker 11: Following former California congressman and ubernatorial candidate Eric Swall's campaign suspension, the remaining nine candidates seven Democrats, two Republicans hoping to seize the moment, some taking direct jobs out others for having quote unquote baggage. Are you saying, mister Marrith, that the Democrats need to consolidate but behind a candidate that doesn't have baggage? 00:13:48 Speaker 3: Candidates need to consolidate, ironic candidate that doesn't have a scandal. 00:13:52 Speaker 2: I am the only and his scandal is twenty years ago. And who really even remembers that name, nor Falla Salinas well. Most of the people who remember that name or dead. And of course there was the printer in Antonio Viragosa's car that he would use to print out official certificates, so he had an excuse to officially go to Laker games every night. Hey, he was the number one fan, like Dance and Barry. 00:14:19 Speaker 12: I am the only candidate in this race without significant personal baggage. 00:14:25 Speaker 2: Candidate's mentioning for who you referencing there? 00:14:29 Speaker 13: Oh? 00:14:31 Speaker 11: Oh, we know candidate's mentioning former US Health and Human Services Secretary and California Attorney General Javier Biserra, who was brought up in the federal indictment of Governor Gavin Newsom's former chief of staff, not accused of wrongdoing, but unknowingly had funds from a dormant campaign account sigement to some of his closest allies too. 00:14:48 Speaker 2: I don't know if you could tie that one to Biserah, he was the victim in that. Well. He hired all these people, though not a good lug. Well who hasn't hired Dana, to which he responded. 00:15:02 Speaker 6: We're still a month and a half from the election, and Sling's politics doesn't have a place. 00:15:06 Speaker 2: That sounds more like the MAGA. 00:15:08 Speaker 11: Talking points and billionaire and climate octavist Tom Steyer recently in the spotlighte for formerly investing into a private prison company. 00:15:15 Speaker 7: He responded, you know, my whole job on this is not to be a pundit and think about the race. My job is to do exactly what I said, which see, as many Californians face to face. 00:15:24 Speaker 2: We had eight years of a grading voice. Do you really want eight more years of an even more grading voice. I don't know if I can handle that. 00:15:32 Speaker 7: Listen to their story and make sure I'm talking about them and the issues that confront them. 00:15:36 Speaker 2: I mean policy positions aside, and a lot of his policy positions are insane. He is by far the most obnoxious candidate, and considering who's running, that says something, well, with billionaires, you can never tell them that they're wrong. So he comes up with a completely nutty idea like, for example, socialized healthcare, and no one's willing to tell him how much that actually costs and what that would actually be like, So he's just going to run with it because he's a billionaire. 00:16:08 Speaker 11: And again on the Republican side, former Fox News host Steve Hilton says, you. 00:16:13 Speaker 14: Were leading the race before Eric Swalwell's decision. We were leading the race before President Trump's decision to endorse me, and I'm expecting now our lead to grow. 00:16:22 Speaker 11: When asked if he fears Democrats could consolidate behind a candidate now Woodswawall's exit, Hilton remaining confident. 00:16:28 Speaker 14: How is it possible if you look at the facts of what they've done for Democrat to ap plausibly ask for four more years. 00:16:36 Speaker 12: Getting ready to put out our first paid ad. We're still just introducing me to the state of California. 00:16:41 Speaker 2: You know my opponents have name. I mean, the introduction has begun, Matt, It's been going on for quite some time. 00:16:49 Speaker 12: The state of California. You know my opponents have name idea, the groups and. 00:16:52 Speaker 11: Unions that have indorsed Swallow in the past but have withdrawn their endorsement. 00:16:56 Speaker 9: Are you hearing from any of those organizations? 00:16:58 Speaker 7: Look, we're hearing from everybody. Honestly, folks, we're hearing from everybody. 00:17:03 Speaker 9: I have some fuel in my tank these days. 00:17:07 Speaker 2: No, you don't. He is broke as a joke. By the way, Yeah, I've been an open book. I don't hide anything. 00:17:16 Speaker 4: I've never made Anybody can say that I've been in a scandal. 00:17:19 Speaker 2: I think if you don't want scandal. Vote Betty. 00:17:23 Speaker 1: Yee hey. That could be a powerful message these days. 00:17:28 Speaker 2: If you don't want any baggage whatsoever, Boring Betty gets your vote. I like boring Betty. 00:17:35 Speaker 3: I think people now need to take a second look at all the candidates. 00:17:39 Speaker 11: Another scandal that happened earlier on was involving former Congressman when Katie Porter and videos that showed controversial treatment of her staffers. 00:17:47 Speaker 2: What video you're out of my shop? Oh? The classics never get old. So that's what all the candidates are now saying, as they're all trying to go after each other to show that they're the one with the at least amount of baggage. 00:18:01 Speaker 1: Eight hundred two two two five two two two is a telephone number one eight hundred two two two five two two two. The La County Fair is back May seventh through the thirty first. Don't miss the country's largest county fair and best entertainment in Southern California. Tickets are on sale at LA Countyfair dot com. But right now, colling number nine at one eight at eight seven ninety five two two two, that's one triple eight seven ninety five two to two two gets a pair of tickets to see War on Friday, May the ninth, and of course go to the fair so you can load up on Friay twinkies and then go see War. Tickets furnished by the La County Fair. Good luck dialing. 00:19:57 Speaker 1: One of the individuals who's tried to take advantage of the fact that Eric Swalwell is now no longer a candidate is former Orange County Congresswoman Katie Porter. Absolutely, and she just did a sit down with KTLA. I don't know when this sit down was, but it's really bizarre to me because she's not barely doing any interviews this week. She hasn't appeared at the candidate forums. But she did sit down with KTLA and the interview is well, it's very Katie Porter. You can smell it right here for more here is KTLA. 00:20:34 Speaker 13: Former Orange County Congressman Katie Porter is a top Democratic contender in the race for California governor ahead of the June primary. Porter is among the Democrats hoping to pick up Congressman Eric Swalwell's supporters after he suspended his campaign. Porter gave an interviewed. 00:20:49 Speaker 2: And I'm sure everyone saw that Katie Porter when this was all breaking over the weekend, she did put out a whole thing of like smallwall supporters, you got to get behind me because there are no scandals. And then someone community noted. 00:21:03 Speaker 1: Her well, and then one of the strategists came out and said, oh yeah, more Katie Porter videos are going to drop. Just hold on a minute, think he said, stop trying to make Katie Porter happen. 00:21:16 Speaker 9: Sorry for the noise, I'm cutting carrots. 00:21:18 Speaker 13: Porter gave an interview to Katla, outlining her priorities, including lowering gas prices, tackling homelessness, and giving free college tuition. KTLA's Annu ros Ramos reports. 00:21:31 Speaker 15: Katie Porter says, it's time for California's first female governor. 00:21:35 Speaker 9: I think this is a time for women to lead. I think this has a time for moms to lead. 00:21:38 Speaker 15: You are single mother of three who drives a minivan sort of famously, Hey, that rhymed boy. 00:21:45 Speaker 1: She loves to talk about that minivan. To be fair, the reporter brought it up. 00:21:52 Speaker 2: That's true. 00:21:52 Speaker 15: You are single mother of three who drives a minivan sort of famously, you must be acutely aware of prices. Californians want relief at the pump. 00:22:03 Speaker 9: You say no to big oil. Well, one of our reasons that our gas is more expensive here is because we have something called the Low Carbon Fuel Standard. We have our own blend of gas. 00:22:15 Speaker 2: Is this how she does when she's teaching at UCI, because she sounds very condescending. When she's ever explaining a subject, She sounds pretty condescending whenever her mouth is moving. 00:22:27 Speaker 9: We have our own blend of gasoline. 00:22:30 Speaker 2: And Texas, which does not have that blend, has much cleaner air than California. Explain that your turn, Katie. 00:22:41 Speaker 9: We have our own blend of gasoline, and now they see beautiful clean air. We're seeing respiratory health go improve. 00:22:49 Speaker 2: I think the asthma and Fresno is worse than before all of this. Wasn't that the reason that they started the high speed rail there? Yes, if you ever wonder why we started the high speed rail in the Central Valley instead of I don't know, connecting San Francisco to San Jose and extending from there, it's because when the project was approved, the incoming Obama administration said, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, we'd love to throw some federal dollars at this program, matching funds if you can cut down all the asthma and Fresno And they said, sure, we'll start in the central Valley and build middle out. 00:23:29 Speaker 9: That's because we have our own fuel blends. 00:23:31 Speaker 15: So to be clear, you would strongly oppose sort of opening up those refineries drilling. 00:23:38 Speaker 9: We have refineries open right now in California and they need to stay open. 00:23:44 Speaker 2: Well, they say that the current new package of regulations that the legislature voted on last year that Carbon is about to enact could chase even more of them out. Katie, Well, did you see that CNN article where Gavin news And broke bad on the candidates running for governor and he said, if Katie Porter were to be elected, she'd chase all the businesses out of the state. Yeah, it was, you know, off the record staffer saying what Gavin thinks about every single candidate. And we're gonna have to read that later. It's really good. 00:24:19 Speaker 9: The last couple of weeks have been the most painful I've had in a long time. It's because of President Trump's war in Iran. That is why we're seeing six dollar gas. 00:24:28 Speaker 2: Move well, that's why other states are seeing three and four dollar gas. The reason we're seeing six dollar gas is because of all of California's regulations. Yeah, Iran does not explain why gasoline is so much more expensive in California than it is in Texas well. And one of the things that it does explain is because we've closed so many refineries. We import the majority of our gasoline from foreign countries, so we are at the whim of all kinds of international incidents. 00:24:57 Speaker 9: That is why we're seeing six dollars gas. 00:24:59 Speaker 15: When to move to tax says one of your platforms eliminating state income taxes for families making under one hundred thousand dollars. 00:25:05 Speaker 2: Oh, this is the idea that she stole from Steve Hilton. She stole his one bad idea. Yeah, it is a bad idea. 00:25:12 Speaker 1: Everyone who lives in California should have to kick into the till. It doesn't matter how much you make, you should pay taxes. 00:25:22 Speaker 2: You create this bizarre dividing line. If you do this where somebody who's making ninety nine thousand dollars will be making way more than somebody that makes one hundred and five thousand dollars, because once you kick in, now you're paying the taxes. Not fairl I. 00:25:39 Speaker 15: Moved to taxes one of your platforms, eliminating state income taxes for families making under one hundred thousand dollars. Doing this by making the corporate tax structure progressive. 00:25:49 Speaker 2: This is what Gavin meant when she's going to chase all the businesses out of the state. Oh and he's one hundred percent right. 00:25:55 Speaker 15: Doing this by making the corporate tax structure progressive. 00:25:59 Speaker 9: That does hine though on a vote. 00:26:01 Speaker 15: My question to you is what happens if you cannot get the vote? 00:26:05 Speaker 9: Is there, in other words, a plan B. Californians are going to be the ones, as you point out, who get to decide, and they understand right now if they have the best so. 00:26:13 Speaker 2: By the way, this is interesting. Both Katie Porter and Tom Steyer are running on that when they get elected, they're going to hold a special election to raise taxes. Tom Steyer wants to kill Prop thirteen and Katie Porter wants to jack up corporate taxes. It's unbelievable that these are the top two running for governor in California with the bad ideas that they keep. 00:26:38 Speaker 9: Promoting, Californians are going to be the ones, as you point out, who get to decide. And they understand right now, if they have the best year they've had, they get a lot of overtime, they get a big raise at work, they might pay a little more tax that year, they might get bumped up into a higher bracket, and they think and. 00:26:53 Speaker 2: Then they pull their hair out on tax Day, which is today, Oh, I paid mine yesterday. 00:27:02 Speaker 9: And they think it's absolutely fair that the same thing should happen for businesses. 00:27:06 Speaker 15: You're promising free tuitions at UC's and csus in part funded by that progressive corporate tax you just explained. Can you drill down on some of the details of this plan. 00:27:16 Speaker 9: My proposal is to pay two tuition free years at a UC, a CSU, or a cal Poly with those two free years at community college. Does this apply? 00:27:26 Speaker 2: Does this mean that the ghost student AI bots that are overcrowding the California community colleges will now automatically go and overcrowd the UC's. Oh yeah. 00:27:36 Speaker 1: If you think there's a lot of waste, fraud and abuse with the hospice centers in the San Fernando Valley. 00:27:41 Speaker 2: You just wait until she moves forward with this two. 00:27:45 Speaker 9: Tuition free years at a UC, A CSU or a cal Poly. With those two free years at community college? Does this apply to. 00:27:53 Speaker 2: But by the way, I am curious about this policy. I do understand that at one point, yes, for Californians, tuition was free at these schools. But these schools make all their money off of the Chinese. So aren't they going to encourage non Californians to go to these schools if it's free for them. It seems like she hasn't thought this through. 00:28:15 Speaker 9: With those two free years at community college, does this apply to people who identify as undocumented? 00:28:21 Speaker 2: There's no qualify Wait, you can identify as undocumented. That's a weird way of phrasing the question. Don't let Rachel dolles all know there's a new way to identify. 00:28:33 Speaker 9: There's no qualifiers on that with regard to race or immigration status, gender identity. 00:28:39 Speaker 1: It's Californian gender identity. It's unreal that she believes that Californian taxpayers, the people who live here, the people who own property here, people who own businesses here, people who file for income tax here that they are responsible for educating the children of other nations. 00:29:05 Speaker 9: It's Californians. 00:29:06 Speaker 15: We looked at your website the word homelessness. We couldn't find a mention of it under your priorities portion of the website. So I ask you, is it a priority for you? 00:29:16 Speaker 9: Homelessness has to be a priority of the governor. The long term fix on homelessness it's bringing down the cost of housing. But I would do some things difficult. 00:29:23 Speaker 2: You know, she knows a lot about the cost of housing because she lives in subsidized housing. 00:29:29 Speaker 1: It's unbelievable to me how someone who is taking from the rest of us so she can live in a nice home in a safe suburban city in California thinks that she has the ideas on how the rest of us should live and how housing policies should work statewide bringing. 00:29:49 Speaker 9: Down the cost of housing. But I would do some things differently with regard to homelessness than what we've done so far. The focus to date has been on building permanent, supportive housing. The people who are unshultered sometimes aren't ready for permanent housing, but interim housing gives them a step toward that the city of la Is. 00:30:06 Speaker 15: Spent millions trying to get the on housed from attampments into things like motels, but reporting from the La Time says it showed nearly half have returned to the streets. Sounds very similar to this interim housing that you speak of inside house. 00:30:19 Speaker 2: Yes, it does. That's right. 00:30:22 Speaker 1: It didn't work, And that's exactly what Katie is suggesting the state do. 00:30:27 Speaker 9: Housing that you speak of. Inside Home and Home Safe. 00:30:30 Speaker 2: They were close enough. 00:30:31 Speaker 9: Inside Home and Home Safe. 00:30:33 Speaker 2: They were She's from Irvine, she doesn't need to know the name of Karen Bass's stupid program. 00:30:37 Speaker 9: No inside Home and Home Safe. They were programs that often can. 00:30:42 Speaker 2: Think that's a security company. 00:30:47 Speaker 9: Inside Home and Home Safe. They were programs that often converted motels. They weren't spaces really designed specifically to support people who were coming from inside. 00:30:57 Speaker 2: What does that even mean? What are you designing? You want to make sure that the homeless shelter has a rack to put all the pipes for the meth. Yeah, that comment made no sense. 00:31:11 Speaker 15: I want to talk about the current state of California right now. Want to discuss the current leader, Governor Gavin Newsom. If you could what grade would you give him? 00:31:20 Speaker 2: Well, I'm certain that we've all Okay, now, most candidates don't answer this question. Let's see what she says. 00:31:25 Speaker 1: Well, remember Tom Steyer said he didn't pay enough attention to give him a grade that was my favorite one. 00:31:31 Speaker 15: What grade would you give him? 00:31:33 Speaker 9: Well, I'm certain that we've all made mistakes, so I think we should show some grace. But I would give him a really solid anus. 00:31:42 Speaker 2: Good lord, he's not endorsing you, Katie. 00:31:50 Speaker 15: We also asked Porter about California Representative Eric Swalwell, who withdrew from the gubernatorial race amid allegations of sexual misconduct and has now resigned from Congress. 00:32:00 Speaker 9: Start from a place of believing women and think that sexual harassment and other crimes like that are altogether too common. They're common and fortunately in other workplaces, and they happen in politics too. I want those women to feel safe legally and coming forward. If they want to tell their stories, they deserve to be heard and they deserve to be believed. 00:32:21 Speaker 2: That's all you got. 00:32:24 Speaker 1: Well, a lot of people think that she was the one that dropped all of those negative stories on Swellwell. I'm not convinced of that, but because of the connections that she has to one of the female organizers of the women That's what people are hanging their hat on. 00:32:40 Speaker 13: And a reminder. KTLA and next our media group will host a live statewide televised debate. I'm going to be moderating alongside Inside California Politics host Nikki Lorenzo. 00:32:51 Speaker 2: I hope they didn't already buy the podiums because they're going to need one fewer. 00:32:57 Speaker 13: Debate night in California. The Race for Governor will air live at seven pm on Wednesday, April twenty second from San Francisco. 00:33:06 Speaker 2: And I'm sure there will be clips of that debate that will be a lot of fun to play on this show. 00:33:11 Speaker 1: Oh, if you went to weigh in on any of this, give us a call at eight hundred two two two five two two two one eight hundred two two two five two two two eight hundred two two two five two two two easy telephone number one eight hundred two two two five two two two. I've been watching Tom steyer ads on TV dozens of times an hour, and I've started calling him the human bobblehead. How does he jiggle his head around like that and not get vertigo? Yeah, he looked. 00:34:00 Speaker 1: He's like the kind of guy that went to the chiropracter won too many times he got the all ring dinger, except I think they pulled his head partially off. 00:34:15 Speaker 2: Let's go to Patree in Rio Vista Petre. 00:34:18 Speaker 16: Hello, Hey, John, Hey Randy. I had to call in because of Katie Porter as as much fun to be poked at her and laughed at her, and it goes on and on. I just realized today, if. 00:34:33 Speaker 10: You listen closely, she sounds a lot like Daffy Duck. You should get some Dappy Duck audio clips and compare and listen closely because sometimes she's got that quock clock in her voice. 00:34:45 Speaker 16: Have you noticed. 00:34:47 Speaker 10: Whoa? 00:34:49 Speaker 1: The thing that I noticed about her is every once in a while she comes out with a little girl voice which comes out of nowhere, but it comes out of nowhere consistently. 00:34:58 Speaker 17: Hello he Yeah, Well, you know, pay attention a little bit and keep Daffy Duck in the back of your mind and you'll you'll notice these little hints of Daffy come. 00:35:13 Speaker 11: Right. 00:35:13 Speaker 2: I got an idea during the break, I'm going to pull up a Daffy Duck AI voice generator and I'll get it to say some Katie Porter drops and we'll see if it's true. 00:35:24 Speaker 17: There you go, thank you appreciate it. 00:35:33 Speaker 1: Well, I'll tell you, I know a lot of people are waiting for a pole to drop after Swallwell got out of the race, to see where we are, to see where the Swalwell supporters are ending up. And of course we'll be very interested in looking and seeing what those numbers look like. However, if the rumor mill is true and there's a video that's going to be coming out about Katie Porter that's going to have blitter r her chin, it'll obliterate her chances at becoming governor of California. Maybe the pull after that happens is the one to look at. 00:36:16 Speaker 2: I'm gonna generate another one. 00:36:18 Speaker 9: You can smell it right here. 00:36:21 Speaker 2: It's in Q it is generating. I found one that you can generate all kinds of cartoon characters, Daffy Bugs, Donald Duck. Here we go. It's generating, it's generating. It's almost done. It's coming out of the oven. You can smell it right here. 00:36:40 Speaker 9: You can smell it right who. 00:36:42 Speaker 2: I don't know if she sounds like Daffy I don't hear it. What about Donald Duck? Should we try? Come on, let's go, Donald Duck doing a Katie Porter impression. Let's see how this one goes. You can smell it right here. Okay, This AI voice generator sucks
