NLDS Game 1: Phillies suffer a “gut punch" loss to Dodgers
Whatever happened to “four hours of hell?”
The Phillies lost Game 1 of the 2025 NL Division Series to the Dodgers at Citizens Bank Park, 5-3. They took a 3-0 lead in the second inning against Dodgers superstar Shohei Ohtani. They had that lead with two outs in the sixth inning. But the offense fell silent after the second, and the bullpen couldn’t hold it.
The Phillies have now lost four or their last five postseason games at the Bank.
We talk about the offense, the bullpen, Harrison Bader’s injury and more.

00:00:00 Speaker 1: There, Hi, This is Zach Wheeler. 00:00:04 Speaker 2: Welcome to Philly, shown tomorrow Junior Jim Salisbury, Todd's a lucky It is Sunday, October fifth, twenty twenty five. I would ask everybody how they are doing, but the Phillies lost Game one of the National League Division Series to the Los Angeles Dodgers at Citizens Bank Park five to three. Let's jump right into it. It's time for the park's first pitch. First pitch is brought to us exclusively by our partners at Parks Casino, Pennsylvania's number one casino. Guys. People are not happy Philly three? Where should they be? And the thing that jump a lot. We're gonna talk about a lot of different things that happen. A lot of a lot of things go into a loss every game. Of course, in the postseason, everything is magnified. But I couldn't help but think last night talking to this a couple of guys walking out of the ballpark. The Phillies have now lost four of their last five postseason games at Citizens Bank Park. That's since Game six of the twenty twenty three NLCS against the Diamondbacks red October four hours of hell. Is it gone? 00:01:26 Speaker 1: Four hours of hell? 00:01:27 Speaker 3: Four is it for the Phillies or the opposing team? 00:01:30 Speaker 4: Four four hours of four hours of quel? As in the fans have been very quiet. Yeah, it's you know, with the outcome of those games, it's hard to believe. I mean that the Game one loss last night, it had a familiar ring to it, like Game one of the Mets series last year. A little bit of early offense, don't sustain it, give away a lead, bullpen gets hit. 00:02:01 Speaker 5: So Sanchez left the door open a little bit. 00:02:03 Speaker 4: You know, Robertson put Straw in a tough spot in the taskar Herendez, who is a tough postseason player, man hits a big run. 00:02:15 Speaker 1: And he's hot. Yeah, it was tough go. 00:02:19 Speaker 3: I mean, listen, you know, whenever you get out to an early lead like that and you get the. 00:02:23 Speaker 1: Crowd into it. You know. 00:02:25 Speaker 3: One of the things that the Phillies were doing when they were going really well is they'd score runs early, tack on another run, grab another run, you know, flipping another one. Someone would pop one another little home run, and they would slow things down. 00:02:39 Speaker 1: But you cannot do that with these teams. 00:02:42 Speaker 3: In the in the playoffs, especially a team of talented as the Los Angeles Dodgers, and especially when your weakness is your bullpep and that has been sort of the week. Now it's gotten better because Doran's back there, but it doesn't We talked about it before. 00:02:57 Speaker 1: We'll talk about it again. The ugly sixth, seventh and eighth is a little bit. 00:03:04 Speaker 3: Of a black hole for the Phillies and they have to somehow figure out and you know, you have to have the three batter minimum. That puts them in a tough spot. All that stuff really puts them in a tough spot. And they don't have any lockdown guys that are like the bridge to lidch so to speak. 00:03:23 Speaker 4: They missed Wheeler because Wheeler is a guy who would navigate his own sixth and seventh. You know, it would be nice if they could have gotten that last night. It would be nice if they get that from wizartro in Game two, which now is a pressure they're all pressure packed, but it becomes increasingly pressure packed. But the offense just has to sustain. You know, you have chances late in that game. You end up one for seven at scoring position. I mean, Harper's talking about they missed a lot of pitches, right down the middle, but a lot of those pitches were one hundred show Hey Hotani man hit twenty three swings and misses and six innings. 00:04:02 Speaker 1: Think about that. Got to hit it. 00:04:05 Speaker 3: I mean, listen, he's got great stuff. And I know hitting is difficult. It was very difficult for me. But these guys are elite hitters and at some point you could have to put the bat on the baseball. If you don't, you're in trouble. These guys have really really good stuff. Oh Tony, Tony's a robot. Man, He's a freaking robot. He's a bot. 00:04:25 Speaker 1: And uh, it's really really impressive. But you know, he left some pitches in the middle. I mean, look at JT. JT smoked one in the right center field. Tay Oscar Hernandez was picking his nose and right. I don't know what he was. 00:04:37 Speaker 3: Doing all past and just bizarre, but he got attack on runs. 00:04:44 Speaker 2: Man. 00:04:45 Speaker 3: They had opportunities, unfortunately, you know, they had a basis loaded and had a pinch hitter going in there with the Mundo who often comes through, gets a pitch to hit and just you know, just misses it off of Vessie. 00:04:58 Speaker 2: But that fight got to go through Yeah, Schwarber skied that one up in the first inning of like one aw eight off the bat. He just missed that one as well. So some near misses. But you know, you think back to the game and you go, wow, they scored. If I had told you yesterday afternoon, we're gonna put three runs on Otani in the second inning, uh, And I know he's It's not a one man team. Far from it. The Dodgers are elite, elite, elite, But say now, the Phillies pitchers, he's gonna o is gonna strike up to carry a three nothing lead into this They're gonna have a three nothing lead with two outs and nobody on in the sixth inning. Everybody in the world would say, sign me up, baby, and I love my chances going in the rest of that game. And that's kind of you know, it's just absolute killer to lose that And and teams that have road teams division series history. In the current two to two one format, teams to win game one on the road have advanced thirty four of forty six times, seventy three point nine percent of the time. When the road team wins a current two to two one series, they go on in advance to the NLCS. So tough, tough task whoever you're playing, especially with, but especially with against the Dodgers, No doubt. 00:06:26 Speaker 1: I thought Christopher centers through well. He did well. He I think he generally did his job. 00:06:31 Speaker 3: Couldn't get through that six right, yeah, yeah, and it sort of puts the team in a little bit of a difficulty. 00:06:38 Speaker 1: It's the Dodgers. They're not a joke. It's a really good team. 00:06:43 Speaker 3: And I know Christopher Santa is good, good stuff, good change up all that stuff. If he gets through the six man, they're in a really different position. 00:06:52 Speaker 1: Different. 00:06:54 Speaker 4: All right, We're going to keep digging into this, but for now, that was first pitch presented exclusively by our partners at Parks Casino, Pennsylvania's number one casino. Parkscasino dot com is the website. You must be twenty one to two participate and if you have a gambling problem called one eight hundred gambler. 00:07:11 Speaker 2: So you guys mentioned Harper and how we said he left some you know, missed some pitches and you still got to hit him. Top of the Phillies lineup in Game one, Trey Turner, Kyle Schwarber, Bryce Harper, combined one for eleven, one walk and six strikeouts. Jim, you mentioned the team as a whole one for seven with runners in scoring position. They had opportunities, you know, Harper, And again this is a really small sample size, but pitches over the heart of the play yesterday and you said one hundred mile an hour pitches and nasty breaking stuff and off speed stuff, pitches over the heart of the plate. In Game one, Phillies batted two hundred very very small sample size. It happens in every game to every team over the course of the season. But during the course of the season overall, the Phillies were three twenty seven on pitches over the heart of the plates. So they did get some pitches. They did get some pitches they could hit one hundred miles an hour, nasty breaking stuff, splitter you know, splitters whatever. Uh but but they but they couldn't handle it. And it doesn't get any easier with with Blake Snell new to on on Monday night. So you know, offense needed to do a better job, and there seemed to be a lot of lamenting in the clubhouse that they should have done a better job, regardless of the quality of the stuff. 00:08:31 Speaker 1: Should be lamenting. 00:08:32 Speaker 3: Those guys at the top of the lineup combined. What are they making? 00:08:37 Speaker 5: Yeah, uh, well those dollar guys there. 00:08:42 Speaker 1: They're making eighty million dollars. They're the guys that need to come through. 00:08:47 Speaker 3: They can't necessarily rely on the bones and the Kepler's and the stots and the marshals, can't. Those guys have to do their jobs too, you know, I really expect them to. I mean, there's a lot of base ball lefts not. I know we're gloom and dooming here. There's a lot of baseball left. But their backs are a little bit against the wall, especially with the five game series. Man, you've got to even it up to go into Los Angeles for a chance to bring it back to Philly. 00:09:13 Speaker 5: And not to dooling gloom more on the offense. 00:09:16 Speaker 4: But if the Oscar cuts off that ball that real Moto hit, they only get two runs off of Tani in the second inning, right, three sounds a lot more then two, you know, and a lot more of a difficult you know. So the offense just was not there except for one little pocket. 00:09:35 Speaker 3: Can't happen in just one inning. It's gonna happen. Uh, It's gonna happen more consistently, and the. 00:09:40 Speaker 1: Top of the top of the order's got to get it done. They you know, it's their job. 00:09:45 Speaker 2: That's their job, and that's why I you know, I think every every Phillies fan probably thought this way. But after the second inning they're up three to nothing, you go, wow, you know, and and Turner, Schwarburn, Harper weren't even involved so many. Maybe they can actually get to a tany and obviously he settled in after that. Phillies had three hits. I think it was just three hits after the second inning. After after JT's triple, Taoscar Hernandez assisted triple. 00:10:13 Speaker 4: Oh TONI had four to one two three innings. Yeah, you know, four one, two, three innings out of six. I mean that's second. 00:10:20 Speaker 3: There was a compression on the picture, There's no question about it. And they just got to do a better job offensively. There's I mean, what else is there to say? 00:10:28 Speaker 6: Uh? 00:10:29 Speaker 1: Is it the time off? I don't know, I don't think so. Necessarily. I do know this. Are they a little tight maybe? Are they trying to do too much? Maybe? 00:10:41 Speaker 3: But they need to go play baseball and they need to go have some fun and do their damage because they're talented men, and you know that's what they're paid to do. 00:10:51 Speaker 5: This. 00:10:52 Speaker 2: If you're looking for a silver lining, I mean, certainly, it is the fact that this team has shown a lot of resilience, no doubt, over over the years. You know, they got remember when they got swept in New York last month and everybody's like they're shrewd and and and it's you know, we were talking about it about the letting the Mets back in and it was almost like that series never happened as soon as they left New York and and then they cruised. Did the analyst title not saying it's gonna happen again, just saying the Phillies are as as well equipped as anybody to kind of maybe brush this one and bounce back, but it's gonna be tough against the Dodgers. So a lot of fans are very upset with Rob Thompson's pitching moves, the moves that he made in the game. You know, did he let Christopher Sanchez stay in the game too long? You know, why did he have David Robertson start the bottom of the seventh inning instead of maybe Matt Strom or instead of maybe somebody else. I don't know. 00:11:55 Speaker 3: I mean, what the guys he trusts right now, he's trying to hold the lead. He's going with the guys that are supposed to be the plus pitchers. He went with the guys he's got. They have to perform. They don't perform. You walk people, you don't throw strikes, you don't. 00:12:09 Speaker 5: Walk to out walk by Sanchez with killer that. 00:12:13 Speaker 1: That was a killer, no doubt. 00:12:15 Speaker 3: But but when you bring the other guys in, you expect them to do their jobs. 00:12:19 Speaker 1: They don't do their jobs, you're screwed. So then you look like a dope. But the reality is those guys have to you know, those guys have to perform. You bring them in for a reason. 00:12:28 Speaker 3: It happened last year when Hoppin blew up and several guys blew up in that bullpen. 00:12:32 Speaker 1: You got to be able to pitch. You got to get your job done. If you don't get your job done, then you make. 00:12:37 Speaker 3: The manager looks like it, you know, you know, looks like he doesn't know what he's doing. 00:12:41 Speaker 4: Right, I didn't have a problem with him sending Robertson threw six sweat free pitches out to get out of that sixth. 00:12:50 Speaker 5: I had a problem send them back off for the seventh. 00:12:52 Speaker 4: And Robertson was hard on himself after the game, right Todd, he said, he put, yes, HiT's a guy with a pitch. He hits, hits Will Smith. Us with that pitch, gives a single and hits Will Smith. And now Strom's going to come in and clean up first and first and second with no os And he almost almost did it. 00:13:13 Speaker 2: It was the Robertson's face and the eight to nine hole hitters. I mean, you know it's very good, but but and Will Smith is very good. But yeah, that's why he's there. 00:13:26 Speaker 1: You know. 00:13:27 Speaker 2: The one thing I've learned covering baseball over the years is you know, sometimes the move's work and sometimes they don't. Now it doesn't mean the manager never makes a mistake and doesn't make any questionable decisions. I get it. But as you said, Reuben, the pit, the players have to perform in those spots. You know, he put his trusted arms, trusted players in certain positions to perform. They did not perform. I was not watching this go on. Hold let me put it this way. When the when the seventh inning starting, David Robertson jogged back out there. I wasn't like, what the hell is Rob Thompson doing now? When Nick Castiana's pitch hit for Harrison Bader, I was going, well, something is definitely up. This would be a highly unusual situation if Rob tops it all of a sudden, pinch it Nick Castias for Harrison Vader uh in the seventh Nay, it turns out there was an injury. But you know, they just didn't They just didn't do the job. 00:14:19 Speaker 3: You know, went with the guys that he trusts right now. He doesn't trust O'Ryan Kirkering when they're leading. He trusts them when they're behind. You see how well he threw the ball when he was they were behind. His stuff was guilty, but he was they were down to nothing or down two runs at that point, right He doesn't. I don't think that he feels like Ryan Kirkan can hold the lead. That's the reason why he didn't pitch. Had I Oryan Kirklan finished the season strong, he might have been in that situation after Dave Robertson came out, he might have been the guy to take the baseball. But he doesn't trust him right now, and. 00:14:50 Speaker 1: I don't he also had the lefties. 00:14:51 Speaker 5: He had he had to. He had to. He had to budget in his. 00:14:54 Speaker 2: Mind for Tommy correct right now one, then he. 00:14:58 Speaker 4: Had two lefties after the after Hernandez. So I could see what he was doing with the three lefty thing. He was trying to get kind of the best of both worlds. He wanted him on Otani and then you have him at the back of that if you need him. 00:15:10 Speaker 5: So Hernandez put a good swing on a pitch down the middle. 00:15:15 Speaker 2: He Ranger Swarez was in the bullpen in Game one, but he was not a consideration at the time. Rob basically put him in the bullpen for an earlier game situation. If Sanchez ran in some serious trouble, he got to win that game. And so he liked the idea of having swears maybe come in if you know, something happened and injury to Sanchez. He had to lead the game early. So he had Suarez out there for that situation. 00:15:37 Speaker 1: He was not. 00:15:38 Speaker 2: Rob said he was not not. Maybe he should have been. 00:15:40 Speaker 1: I don't know, I mean, correct me if I'm wrong. Here. 00:15:43 Speaker 3: There was a man on first and second when the Oscar Hernandez was at the plate. 00:15:47 Speaker 1: M H. 00:15:48 Speaker 3: So essentially there's a base open you have a left handed hitter hitting behind him. I always believe that when you have a guy, a hot hitter like Hernandez who's been outstanding, and I I know it's Freddie Freeman and behind him, you basically have a base open. 00:16:06 Speaker 1: You really do. So you have to be super careful. 00:16:09 Speaker 3: And I think that they just threw too many pitches in the zone to tay Oscar. You can nibble, you can beat a little finer. They went right after him, and I know Strom is generally a guy that goes after guys, but why not make him try to swing over a couple of sliders? Why not, you know, throw some pitches out of the zone, making chase a little bit. I My strategy is, Okay, am I gonna let thea Oscar or Nana's beat me? 00:16:35 Speaker 1: Or am I gonna let Freddy Freeman, who's a left hander beat me? 00:16:37 Speaker 3: Which way do I go? And if I feel more confident in getting you know, Freddie Freeman out and I'm a left hander, then maybe you're a little bit more careful with Taoscar and Nana's the man's been the hottest fricking hitter in baseball for the last you know, for the last few you know games. I mean, sometimes I think that there's a strategy that goes on in the game that some people don't understand that. I feel like, hey, make the Knight chase if you walk him, so what bases loaded? 00:17:08 Speaker 1: So what you still got Freddy? You can still get Freddy Freeman out. Just a thought. 00:17:14 Speaker 2: Uh So during the game, after Hernandez, Homer's this this screen grab of the pitch seconds before to task, Hernandez popped up. I don't know if Reuben did you see this? Yeah, so pa Hees is signaling, you know, everybody goes, oh my gosh. Well, obviously pies can see directly into Matt Strom's glove. He can see that he's throwing him a fastball. Now, I talk with Strom after the game about it, and I showed I showed him this image, and I said, everybody thinks it. Pius was telling ta Oscar, here comes a fastball, and Strom basically dismissed it. And here's why. He basically said, if you if you know this, I throw every single one of my pitches with my fingers right next to each other. So he said, when you have the ball in my glove. The only he would have to have like incredible vision, Pahes because the only thing he could be able to notice is if he could could he actually see where the horseshoe is positioned deep into my glove. He's like, if he could actually see that, God bless him. Tip of the cap. I don't believe he was. He he was signaling to Hernandez here. 00:18:26 Speaker 1: Comes signal twice. I saw him do that signal twice once on Mookie. Mooky missed the fastball. 00:18:32 Speaker 2: And so popped up Strom's. Strom's feeling is that this the arm out was maybe where the pitch was. It was location location, it was location. So what now if you looked at the pitch and where JT was set up, he was set up inside and the pitch was out over the plate, so he missed his location, but it was up and writing kind of as JT said right in his sweet spodies like taoscar does very well. As he proved on a bat on a pitch out over the plate. He went out and got it, and uh so I just wanted to mention that again. If if you're watching this on YouTube, you can see I mean, just just search for Matt Strom, you know tipping, and on the internet today you can see that. But Strom said, no, he was not telling people what pitch was coming. 00:19:22 Speaker 1: And he didn't execute the pitch right. 00:19:24 Speaker 3: He was supposed to throw a fastball in he left that over the light and he and it got and it got nailed. 00:19:29 Speaker 1: And when it first we got off went off the bat. 00:19:32 Speaker 3: I thought maybe it was just a fly ball, but they Oscar's got a lot of power. 00:19:35 Speaker 1: To right center field. You've seen it over the last several weeks. 00:19:38 Speaker 2: Yeah, I thought the same thing. Off the bat. I was like the way bater was running after it, I was like, oh, he might catch us, bought the warning track and then obviously he just ran out of real estate. The only person Strom thought the same thing. Baiter thought the same thing. 00:19:52 Speaker 3: Uh. 00:19:52 Speaker 2: The only person that said off the bat. He thought it was troubles JT because he was right there and he could hear the the impact of the bat off the ball. With the off the bat, I should say, So, you know, Game two is on Tuesday night, six oh eight pm. We're going to talk about the Game two matchup in a second, But Ruben, what's going on at Parks Casino. 00:20:15 Speaker 1: And Parks Casino is my casino of choice. 00:20:18 Speaker 3: They got it all action, excitement, headline entertainment plus. 00:20:21 Speaker 1: If you live in Central or Northern Jersey or in New York. 00:20:25 Speaker 3: The closest live tables are at Parks Casino off Exit six of the Jersey Turnpike. And there's another comedian on the twenty six Joey Diasparkscasino dot com. To buy tickets for all the shows Parkscasino dot com. This is how you win. You must be twenty one gambling problem called one eight hundred gambler. 00:21:26 Speaker 2: Harrison Vader left the game with a strain. I'm sorry it was announced initially he left the game with a strained hamstring, and they're going, oh my gosh, the worst case scenario for the Phillies. They lose their center fielder. That affects so much what they can do in terms of the lineup and how they match up against guys. Then after the game, Rob thomp says, it's actually just quad tightness. 00:21:50 Speaker 1: Growing tightness. 00:21:52 Speaker 2: I'm sorry, groin tightness. I'm sorry, groin tightness. Thanks Jim. But he is going to get some imaging on it today. After the game, Harrison Bader, I mean it sounded about as confident as you could get about a guy who left the game, a postseason game in the seventh inning because of a leg injury. I don't know what to. 00:22:13 Speaker 1: Imagine that he'll be back. 00:22:14 Speaker 3: I can't imagine if he's got a real growing strain, I can't imagine he can play. 00:22:18 Speaker 1: Well. 00:22:18 Speaker 4: They used the word tightness, so you know they there were a lot of mixed signals coming out of there. 00:22:23 Speaker 5: It was at first it. 00:22:25 Speaker 4: Was a hamstring strain, hamstring strain, and then an hour later, it was growing tightness and Bader was very confident he'll be back. 00:22:35 Speaker 1: I don't know. 00:22:36 Speaker 5: I just know how cautious they are with stuff. 00:22:38 Speaker 4: But I also know it's the time of the year where you you know, you know you're going all out. He made a great play on the ball last night. If he's not in there, they are going to miss him. He also had that great at bat in the second inning, so you have to hope that. 00:22:51 Speaker 5: He's okay. 00:22:52 Speaker 2: But who knows. The lineup totally changes, the defense, totally changes You mentioned that play, Jim the diving catch. 00:23:00 Speaker 1: You know a lot of. 00:23:01 Speaker 2: People were wondering, like, why did Rob Thompson hit Harrison Bader eighth in Game one? Because he wanted a high You have Trey Turner back, and you have a high on base percentage guy at the bottom of the lineup to help turn the lineup over. Now you have a guy maybe on bass for Trey Turner College Corbert. Hypothetically, theoretically, you know that those guys knock hit Harrison Bader in because he's on base. So it changes everything. Now, Brandon marsh if he's unable to play, he has to play center field. You lose one of the platoons situations and would be bad news. But Harrison said after the game, I definitely feel like I'll be able to come back. For sure. We have an off day tomorrow. We'll just get some imaging and go from there. But I mean every time anytime I hear imaging. 00:23:48 Speaker 1: About it, I think Aiden Miller, ad Miller coming up. 00:23:54 Speaker 3: I mean, does that to have another right handed bat and somebody who can run the bases. 00:24:00 Speaker 2: That would be a heck of a thing, you know. Yeah, Justin Well, Justin Crawford. People, if they were wondering about Justin, I mean, he's another he's a left handed bat. But he finished this he had a concussion at the end of the year and they send him, send him home and said he was done. You know, but that would be very problem. 00:24:18 Speaker 1: I don't get hot Camp. I don't think that he's. 00:24:21 Speaker 2: He's not He's Aden Miller is not not get hot camp either. They don't have any out, they don't have. 00:24:29 Speaker 1: Any has got the quad? Right, So, yes, who is that person? Right? 00:24:41 Speaker 5: Jas is still active? 00:24:42 Speaker 4: Right, he's just could be Garrett Stubbs, could be Garrett Stubbs. 00:24:47 Speaker 1: They could free up Marshawn. 00:24:49 Speaker 3: They hit as a pin hitter, as a switch hitter, that's a possibility, yeah, if they have to. 00:24:55 Speaker 1: If they have to, I l him. 00:24:57 Speaker 3: The question is does a rule still apply that if you I L for the end of for this round, that you are also automatically on the IL for the next round. I think that that is leath So I think that's still in play. I do not know if that rule has still is still you know, being utilized. 00:25:14 Speaker 2: I mean maybe there's not. Maybe maybe Again, if you're a Phillies fan, if you're the Phillies, you're hoping that Bader felt some tightness, as they said after the game, growing tightness, and he's like, I just don't want to blow out. I'm a little nervous. And then he gets the imaging today it's like, actually, we'll work on here for the next forty eight hours and he'll be back in the line for Game two. 00:25:38 Speaker 5: Against the lefty. They need that bad against. 00:25:40 Speaker 7: The left I would just be really surprised that it was a cautionary move, because cautionary moves you don't make in the playoffs. 00:25:50 Speaker 3: Man, if he was able to play, I. 00:25:53 Speaker 1: Think he'd stay in there. 00:25:54 Speaker 3: He must have something because guys like that don't come out. 00:25:58 Speaker 1: Of the game unless there's something going on and that concerns me. 00:26:02 Speaker 3: Listen, I hope, against hope that I'm completely wrong, but I would be surprised that he doesn't go on the IL after having been taken out with a growing issue. 00:26:12 Speaker 4: Well, that would be that would be a tough law. Well, how do we feel about Rob's pitching decision? 00:26:16 Speaker 5: Is going to go with? Uh Lozardo in game two? I think I'm fine with it. I just think. 00:26:21 Speaker 4: Lozardo being down one game, his big challenge is going to be, you know, controlling his emotions, controlling the pressure of it all. 00:26:31 Speaker 3: I think the idea was brilliant because it allows Suarez to pitch in a couple of games if they really needed them. Obviously they didn't use them, and now he's still at least for now, he's still able to be you know, to start on regular you know, in the third game. But they also have Nola just in case. I mean, they have Nola. 00:26:53 Speaker 1: As the fourth guy. 00:26:54 Speaker 3: So if they have to utilize them, and they might have to, because this next game is a kind of a door eye type of a game, if they have to use them, then, uh then Nola's probably pitching Game three. 00:27:08 Speaker 2: You got it. Yeah, no, yeah, I can see that. You have to win game two. You can't go you can't lose Game two and go, well, you know we can. We've won three games in a row before. Sure, they have not got stadium in the post season. It's an entirely different animal. Uh, but yeah, it's Blake Snell versus Jesus Zardo in game two. Snell in his career against the Phillies two and three three eight ninety ra. He got he faced. 00:27:37 Speaker 1: The last time out, his last them out against him. He was filthy. And he has got a change up working right now. He's the biggest swinging miss pitcher in baseball. Philly's swinging miss a lot. 00:27:50 Speaker 3: That's not a great matchup for the boys, and they're gonna have to make some adjustments, especially right he's against that left handed change up. 00:27:56 Speaker 1: It's been outstanding and he has a great hammer. 00:28:00 Speaker 2: Blake Blake Snell Dodger Stadium in September seventeen, seven scoreless innings, two hits, two walks, a twelve punch outs. 00:28:09 Speaker 4: Yes, twelve, And he's got enough, he's got enough cockiness to him that he'll he'll love pitching this environment ain't gonna intimidate him. I mean, the Philly's got to go out and have good at bats against the guy. Put some traffic on the bases early and sustain well. 00:28:27 Speaker 3: The other thing that he'll do is if you put traffic on the basis. This sounds kind of crazy, but you can get an extra ninety feet on the guy because he doesn't have a good pickoff, movie doesn't hold runners, and he bounces a lot of balls. You can anticipate balls in the dirt on him. You can do a lot of things to put some pressure on him if you get base runners on and make something happen. 00:28:46 Speaker 1: Not a very not very good in the stretch. 00:28:50 Speaker 2: They got to get They got it again, obvious, but they've got to get to an early lead because if they fall behind early, it's gonna have that twenty twenty three Game seven vibe at Citizen Bank Park. That's gonna have that Game five, twenty eleven NLDS vibe at Citizen Bank Park where you can feel how tight the fans are because they're thinking, Holy are they gonna lose? This is the season going to be over. So they got to get through an early leading, get the crowd into it. 00:29:24 Speaker 3: You made a great point, though, Todd. This is one of the most resilient teams. They bounce back and win games like this after being knocked down. They get knocked down, man, and they bounced right back up. And I am I am actually confident that they're gonna come out and play a good game of baseball because now they're backs against the wall and their resilience over the last several years has been something that's real positive. 00:29:45 Speaker 4: And then it's the real go ahead, just gonna say they need, they need, they need their three big boys at the top to do something, because when when your big boys do something, it kind of puts a feeling for everybody takes an exhale throughout the whole dugout that you know, you know, big Brothers is back or our stars are back, and it makes everybody feel a little bit better and everybody breathes a little bit. And when you relax a little bit, you play better. When you tell you play like crap. 00:30:13 Speaker 1: And let me just say this again, and I'll reiterate. If those guys don't come through, they're in trouble. Yeah, that's what they're paid to do. 00:30:20 Speaker 3: And if you want to start throwing blame here and there on Thompson. 00:30:24 Speaker 1: The big boys are paid to do that job. 00:30:27 Speaker 6: The big boys have to come through and do their jobs. Absolutely, absolutely, we will be back. Yeah, tight it up too, top. 00:31:45 Speaker 2: No, I know, I just I just wake up, wake up like this, Ruben. 00:31:50 Speaker 1: You know that's how you do. That's how you do. 00:31:52 Speaker 5: So, Ruben, not to bring up bad memories, but. 00:31:56 Speaker 2: Bring them up, somebody says, before they up a bad memory. 00:32:01 Speaker 5: Yeah. 00:32:01 Speaker 4: The the Dodgers had lost seven straight playoff games in Philadelphia. Their last win in Philadelphia was October fifth, nineteen seventy eight, when Tommy Johnps shut them out in Game two of the nl CS. 00:32:22 Speaker 1: Flip it up there and yeah. 00:32:24 Speaker 4: Tommy john Man nineteen seventy eight. And then they The Phillies of course won five in the LCS in eight nine against the Dodgers. 00:32:35 Speaker 5: So they have this long history and they broke the spell. 00:32:38 Speaker 4: They had lost seven straight in Philadelphia postseason games, and five straight at Citizens Bank Park, and as you mentioned, Todd, the Phillies have lost four of the last five playoff games at home and feels like the invincibility is ebbing. 00:32:57 Speaker 5: So gotta get it back. 00:32:59 Speaker 2: Gotta get gotta get it back. A couple of early runs and then add on, gotta do that all right. Yeah, so check us out. Thanks to everybody. We will be back this week. 00:33:13 Speaker 1: Smelly later.
