<v Speaker 3>Yes, we're here with a large crew. We're here with

<v Speaker 1>Yes, that's right, the whole fiddle da Yes, yeah, first

<v Speaker 1>back when there were drive in theaters when you would
<v Speaker 1>drive your car and plug in and and and grab
<v Speaker 1>a speaker from from a pole there with a wire

<v Speaker 1>kind of have one here, and it's big enough. It's
<v Speaker 1>like a drive in theater, but you can swim in
<v Speaker 1>front of it. And if you don't want to swim,
<v Speaker 1>you can lolligag. I'm good at lolligagging, and sometimes I
<v Speaker 1>Chili Shelley. But it's just amazing. We're on the Disney
<v Speaker 1>Destiny and it's wow. Can't recommend it highly enough.

<v Speaker 1>ride and you look down and and there's you know,

<v Speaker 1>And it's that that's what really brings said to life

<v Speaker 6>And you know, it's not only the design and the
<v Speaker 6>beauty and the shows and the entertainment and the artwork
<v Speaker 6>that's all on the walls, but it's also in the
<v Speaker 6>crew and the people. Like I mean, you know, I'm
<v Speaker 6>best friends with the woman who cleans my room by
<v Speaker 6>the way.
<v Speaker 8>You know.
<v Speaker 6>I mean, she's just like the most wonderful woman. I
<v Speaker 6>see her every day. She knows my name, she knows
<v Speaker 6>my kids names. You know, I know her name and
<v Speaker 6>her kids' names. And it's like everyone on board feel
<v Speaker 6>it feels like they care about you, you know what
<v Speaker 6>I mean. It's kind of moving because we're not used to,
<v Speaker 6>you know, walking through the streets in New York City
<v Speaker 6>and not a lot of people act like they are
<v Speaker 6>concerned with you could care less yes, at least I
<v Speaker 6>don't get that. And I'm you know, I just really
<v Speaker 6>am and am touched by the I don't even want
<v Speaker 6>to call service. It's like a humanity on board that
<v Speaker 6>I really am moved by.
<v Speaker 1>Well, you really do feel like a guest of honor. Yeah,
<v Speaker 1>they make everyone feel like the guest of honor.
<v Speaker 6>Yeah, and it starts right when you enter the ship.
<v Speaker 6>You know, they say everybody's name. I mean, how cool

<v Speaker 6>I mean, he's just a sweetheart and he's such a
<v Speaker 6>generous actor. He's so much fun, and he you know,

<v Speaker 2>I was like, sorry, bro, I sorry, easy easy turns

<v Speaker 6>good actor. You're just it's amazing. So yeah, it's a
<v Speaker 6>heist movie, and I play this sort of rich, horrible
<v Speaker 6>guy who you want to be heisted from.
<v Speaker 2>You know, you'd like a terrible rich that's good.
<v Speaker 6>Yeah, And it's great to be the bad guy, Yeah
<v Speaker 6>it is.
<v Speaker 4>It's kind of fun.
<v Speaker 2>Hercules is like the ultimate good guy period, I know.
<v Speaker 6>Yeah, And so now it's like I haven't played a
<v Speaker 6>really really super sweet and nice guy since basically yeah
<v Speaker 6>kind of, I.
<v Speaker 2>Mean, yeah, a little bit. Well, I mean, bad guys
<v Speaker 2>are more fun.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, I think you know, Peter Pan had a good time,
<v Speaker 1>but Hook was crushing.
<v Speaker 6>It right right, you know, yeah, yeah, I mean all
<v Speaker 6>your amazing voices, you know, like you you you said,
<v Speaker 6>I believe that, like you know, there's like fifteen you know,
<v Speaker 6>like bad guys to the one Winnie the Pooh, you know,
<v Speaker 6>oh yeah, you know that's right equals out because we
<v Speaker 6>are so wonderful.

<v Speaker 6>It's it's more fun, of course to play the villain.
<v Speaker 6>You know, you can crow your mustache a little bit,
<v Speaker 6>and yeah, it's it's always fun to sort of dip
<v Speaker 6>into the dark side.
<v Speaker 4>I feel like you get more freedom as a villain, yeah,

<v Speaker 6>There's a little pressure if you're playing a good guy. Yeah,
<v Speaker 6>oh my good enough, and you know I have to
<v Speaker 6>be you know, kind and good hearted, and you know,
<v Speaker 6>who the hell can be that way all the time?
<v Speaker 2>Was a little milk toasty.
<v Speaker 9>Yeah, you're you're.
<v Speaker 6>As an actor, you're so scared of being milk toasty
<v Speaker 6>that it adds a little pressure. Whereas when you play
<v Speaker 6>a bad guy, you know there's enough. Yeah, yeah, it
<v Speaker 6>might even be fun to be a bad guy who's
<v Speaker 6>milk toast.
<v Speaker 3>Oh yeah, yeah, there's no much afraid that one.
<v Speaker 6>Yeah.
<v Speaker 2>Oh man, man, we thank.
<v Speaker 6>You well, I've got it. I just got to say
<v Speaker 6>before you leave. Listening to you up on stage yesterday,
<v Speaker 6>do Winnie the Pooh, It's it's kind of incredible what

<v Speaker 6>physically change, Like I feel like the cells in my
<v Speaker 6>body react differently when I hear your your voice. Goodness,

<v Speaker 10>It's somebody asked me that recently. And you know what's
<v Speaker 10>funny is when I first started, like I remember the
<v Speaker 10>first parade I ever saw Disneyland that I was a
<v Speaker 10>part of, and and all I could hear was me.
<v Speaker 6>I was like, oh, Mickey's a little.
<v Speaker 10>Bit ruined now and all I hear is myself. But
<v Speaker 10>I've finally gotten to the point of my career where
<v Speaker 10>I'm able to watch a parade or ride the elevator.
<v Speaker 10>I'm like, it's Mickey, I just get to.
<v Speaker 7>Geek out and fan out.
<v Speaker 2>I don't.
<v Speaker 10>I don't think are laments about.
<v Speaker 4>Do you feel the same way.
<v Speaker 2>With Yeah, I had that, Yeah, yeah, I had that.
<v Speaker 2>I was all criticism.

<v Speaker 10>Favorite yes you sound What I love is when they
<v Speaker 10>tell me you sound pretty good as compared to what
<v Speaker 10>the guy who really does it. Yeah yeah, me last week, I.

<v Speaker 10>So when people come up, you know, when we do
<v Speaker 10>a lot of conventions together and people come up and
<v Speaker 10>they're like, I'm going to do an impression of who
<v Speaker 10>That really means they're going to do an impression of you.
<v Speaker 4>It's like, I don't think they realized that, but.
<v Speaker 2>It's like yeah, yeah, yeah, it's good.
<v Speaker 1>But that's okay because that means the magic is alive.

<v Speaker 3>I know we talked about this the last time you
<v Speaker 3>were on the podcast, But is it intimidating when you
<v Speaker 3>first got that role?
<v Speaker 2>Yeah?
<v Speaker 4>Oh yeah, like yeah, what kind of pressure is that
<v Speaker 4>playing Mickey Mouse? Arguably? Yeah, I mean Mickey Mouse and the.
<v Speaker 1>The I mean I have always that he is the
<v Speaker 1>I even wrote that down just to make sure he
<v Speaker 1>is the most famous cartoon character of all time.
<v Speaker 2>Period. Yeah.
<v Speaker 4>Period.
<v Speaker 7>It's crazy.
<v Speaker 10>And to be honest, I try not to think about
<v Speaker 10>that too much because when I first got the role,
<v Speaker 10>it was absolutely intimidating. But to some extent it still
<v Speaker 10>is because the responsibility hasn't Wayne over many years, right, Like,
<v Speaker 10>it's still I want to make sure I'm giving my
<v Speaker 10>best to the character every time, and I want Mickey
<v Speaker 10>to be at his best. So I didn't just think
<v Speaker 10>of a funny story that Bill Farmer mentioned one time
<v Speaker 10>he said that Wayne Allway and said, boy, I wish
<v Speaker 10>I did a voice that not everybody could do, because
<v Speaker 10>everybody loves to do a Mickey impression.
<v Speaker 6>Yeah, but when you're in the.
<v Speaker 10>Role and you're you're very aware of the lineage. You know,
<v Speaker 10>let's start with Walt Disney, and I know that Wayne
<v Speaker 10>was told by Jimmy McDonald. Remember, kid, you're only filling
<v Speaker 10>in for the boss. And I say it all the time,
<v Speaker 10>but that's that's my mantra to this day. It's you know,
<v Speaker 10>I'm only filling in for the boss. I think we
<v Speaker 10>all are, like, we're all working to Like you said,
<v Speaker 10>the magic preserved the magic and so it's not lost
<v Speaker 10>on me.
<v Speaker 4>But you know, you remember the first check you got
<v Speaker 4>from Disney.
<v Speaker 3>Oh my gosh, for me, that that was like when
<v Speaker 3>I saw Walt Disney Corporation and I got a check
<v Speaker 3>from them, I was like, oh.
<v Speaker 7>I think I do remember where I was.
<v Speaker 10>I don't remember like how much it was for, but
<v Speaker 10>I remember thinking I should probably frame this, but I'm
<v Speaker 10>so broke.
<v Speaker 6>I need to cash.

<v Speaker 11>I remember we were saying the different decks. We were saying,

<v Speaker 11>the bottom of someone else, like yeah, just to be
<v Speaker 11>triple sure. And it didn't feel real when I got it,

<v Speaker 11>do something amazing, like being here on the Disney Destiny
<v Speaker 11>or visiting friends at D twenty three events or just
<v Speaker 11>good old fashioned Disneyland with pals. And I worked. I
<v Speaker 11>had worked there, so I know about that love and integrity,
<v Speaker 11>and that's right.
<v Speaker 1>I was thinking that you you did work at Disney.
<v Speaker 1>I did, Yeah, Disneyland, and I mean the idea. I
<v Speaker 1>just think that's the coolest thing in the World's education
<v Speaker 1>at Disneyland.
<v Speaker 2>And now I work at Disneyland in.
<v Speaker 1>A different way, slightly different way, a little better, just
<v Speaker 1>a little bit.
<v Speaker 2>I think someone's had a promotion and I think that's
<v Speaker 2>prett He dug on amazing on a cruise.

<v Speaker 11>I was very blessed to visit our friends when we
<v Speaker 11>debuted the Disney Treasure and right after kind of the
<v Speaker 11>World reopened up a few years back. My first ever
<v Speaker 11>Disney cruise was on the Disney Wonder where we did
<v Speaker 11>a little kind of three night Halloween voyage and just
<v Speaker 11>to kind of get our feet wet. And and but
<v Speaker 11>I'd been on cruises before, but never at Disney Cruise,
<v Speaker 11>and it was just different.
<v Speaker 4>This was my first Tisney.
<v Speaker 11>To me, it was better. It was fun. It's a
<v Speaker 11>beautiful ship. It's it's that warm, cozy ship. It's our
<v Speaker 11>second one. But and then the themed restaurants. That was
<v Speaker 11>so fun because on other cruise ships sometimes it's like
<v Speaker 11>here's the main dining hall, you have a wonderful time.
<v Speaker 11>But now I could be at Tiana's Palace. Yeah, and
<v Speaker 11>now it could be at Keen Triton's.
<v Speaker 2>And I was thinking.
<v Speaker 3>About the same thing last night, Like I was sitting
<v Speaker 3>there at the bar and I'm like, this is the
<v Speaker 3>Sanctum Sanctaorum.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah.
<v Speaker 3>I love Doctor Strange. Yeah, probably my favorite Disney movie.
<v Speaker 3>It's I love Doctor Strange. And it's so cool to
<v Speaker 3>be like in the environment.
<v Speaker 2>Oh, you know, and they have the window. I mean,
<v Speaker 2>I just love because I'm an old comic book guy.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, you know, I remember Steve Didko was the artist

<v Speaker 13>So yeah, they're just an adventure in themselves. It is
<v Speaker 13>my vacation every year the last sixteen years.

<v Speaker 4>mean not only you, but you all will to bring

<v Speaker 13>It's you know, when we record cartoons and everything, we're
<v Speaker 13>usually alone and it's a very lonely existence. I only
<v Speaker 13>see my friends when I go on a cruise like this,

<v Speaker 8>on Avengers Campus, so like a lot of Wakanda stuff there, Shanghai,
<v Speaker 8>Disneyland or whatever, different different parks all over. But then
<v Speaker 8>at some point I was like, I don't think I
<v Speaker 8>want to be an architect for the rest of my life.
<v Speaker 8>I think I just I want to make art. I
<v Speaker 8>want to I want to do illustrations, and so yeah,
<v Speaker 8>so I I over time, you know, I kept running
<v Speaker 8>to Ryan Coogler, so I started working on some.

<v Speaker 8>I so chill and so great. He's just like the guru,
<v Speaker 8>Like he totally trusts everybody on set, all the whole,
<v Speaker 8>the whole you know, cast, the whole family, the whole crew.

<v Speaker 8>I thought maybe I would be an architect or something,
<v Speaker 8>and I went to Hampton University in Virginia studied architecture.
<v Speaker 8>When I got there, they said that they had a
<v Speaker 8>long history with Disney and this imaginations competition. So entered
<v Speaker 8>that and drove straight to California College. So eleven years
<v Speaker 8>of theme park design and so now it's like, okay,
<v Speaker 8>take all of that, all that that you've done. I've
<v Speaker 8>done a picture book for Black Panther. Take all of
<v Speaker 8>those ideas and make a mural for this ship. And
<v Speaker 8>so so this ship was really I wanted to do, like,
<v Speaker 8>you know, a love layer to Wakanda, you know, Black
<v Speaker 8>Panther in front of the Golden City, just you know,
<v Speaker 8>in Baku Nikiya, all of the warriors of Wakanda basically.
<v Speaker 8>So yeah, so it felt like a continuation of like
<v Speaker 8>a once in a lifetime like all these once in
<v Speaker 8>a lifetime opportunities that just keep happening.
<v Speaker 6>Wow.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, that's that's not a bad resume right there. Keep
<v Speaker 1>having once in a lifetime opportunity. So that's that adds
<v Speaker 1>up to a pretty good lifetime. Yeah, that's beautiful. And
<v Speaker 1>did you Now I always wonder because I thought that
<v Speaker 1>I was going to grow up and be you, but
<v Speaker 1>I'm too old and white.
<v Speaker 2>But but no. I wanted to be an.
<v Speaker 1>Artist, and for a brief moment I did make a
<v Speaker 1>decent living doing that. I lived in New Orleans a
<v Speaker 1>long time ago, and I designed and painted Marty Groot
<v Speaker 1>floats and I don't know if you've ever seen those,
<v Speaker 1>but it's not like the Rose Parade.
<v Speaker 2>It's completely different. Their theme the preay.
<v Speaker 1>Each parade is called a crew, and it's different, and
<v Speaker 1>it has a theme, you know, and and and so
<v Speaker 1>I thought I died and went to heaven, but that
<v Speaker 1>you know, I could never in a thousand years come
<v Speaker 1>near anything like this.
<v Speaker 2>I mean, please, I.
<v Speaker 1>Could probably take a picture of it, but that would
<v Speaker 1>be the closest that could come. Did you always know
<v Speaker 1>when you when you were coming up? I mean, I
<v Speaker 1>know you had a sidetrack to architecture. Yeah, but how
<v Speaker 1>can you be this good and not know that you
<v Speaker 1>were going to do this?
<v Speaker 8>I feel like like life just kept beating me over
<v Speaker 8>the head, like very gently to say, like this is
<v Speaker 8>what you should be doing, this is your passion. But
<v Speaker 8>I just you know, a lot of you know a
<v Speaker 8>lot of people will try to say, like get a
<v Speaker 8>real job.
<v Speaker 2>Or a real engineer at them too. Yeah, So I
<v Speaker 2>know those people.
<v Speaker 8>Yeah, so I thought like I never thought like I
<v Speaker 8>want to be an artist when I grew up. Yeah,
<v Speaker 8>didn't never occurred to me. Wow.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, Well my the line I always got was what
<v Speaker 2>do you want to do? Oh? Okay, but what are
<v Speaker 2>you going to do for a living?
<v Speaker 4>Right?
<v Speaker 2>It's like, no, that's what I'm going to do for
<v Speaker 2>a living.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, maybe not, you know, but.
<v Speaker 8>One of the coolest things, like when you when that
<v Speaker 8>hobby has becomes your career.
<v Speaker 2>I've said it one hundred times.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, do you ever this is a question for both
<v Speaker 4>of you.
<v Speaker 3>Do you ever feel like it's almost like a a
<v Speaker 3>detriment to have your hobby become your career.
<v Speaker 4>I mean, do you ever feel like you do it
<v Speaker 4>too much?

<v Speaker 4>No, it's kind of ruining the thing that I enjoyed.
<v Speaker 8>Right because then because you know, there's it becomes like,
<v Speaker 8>you know, the job, and then it sucks all the

<v Speaker 3>When it's a hobby, you know, you don't have deadlines,
<v Speaker 3>you don't have you know, all that all that. You know, Michelou,
<v Speaker 3>it can be.
<v Speaker 8>But for me, I feel like it's helped that So
<v Speaker 8>as soon as I stopped officially being in an imagineer. It's
<v Speaker 8>just the door never closed with Disney. So I have
<v Speaker 8>so many like magical projects that I still do. They
<v Speaker 8>brought me back and had me design a tower for Disneyland,
<v Speaker 8>Downtown Disney and Anaheim.
<v Speaker 7>It's well, I mean you're an architect, Yeah, I still
<v Speaker 7>I get Still.
<v Speaker 8>It was the coolest thing because it was one of
<v Speaker 8>those like napkin sketches almost like hey.
<v Speaker 7>Kidd, and they did it, do this swoopy thing.
<v Speaker 2>Wow.
<v Speaker 1>Now there's a famous story out there, a famous story
<v Speaker 1>out there about somebody who did something like that with
<v Speaker 1>the napkin.
<v Speaker 2>How about.
<v Speaker 8>Yes, And it's just like I always wanted to be
<v Speaker 8>able to just and oh, there it is.
<v Speaker 7>So it's been.
<v Speaker 8>There's still even though it's work and it's still magical.

<v Speaker 1>Well, I think anything that you can imagine, you know,

<v Speaker 1>that magic is from Walt Disney to you is coming
<v Speaker 1>up with your imagination, putting it down on paper, then boom,
<v Speaker 1>turning it real.

<v Speaker 7>And with Disney, it's a thing.
<v Speaker 2>It's there forever, it's there forever.

<v Speaker 2>Yeah, so cool. Yeah that is. You're part of a

<v Speaker 3>all the technology behind it. And I've always said, like
<v Speaker 3>Disney is an inventor, Like Disney invents technology, you know,
<v Speaker 3>to design, you know.
<v Speaker 2>They're singular.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, but she's like, you should be an imagineer. I
<v Speaker 4>was like, those people are genius. Yeah, you can't just
<v Speaker 4>be one, yeah right.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, can I apply?
<v Speaker 8>Guardians of the Galaxy is actually one of my last
<v Speaker 8>rides that I worked.
<v Speaker 7>You did that, Yeah, that.
<v Speaker 4>Was, Oh that's my favorite ride.
<v Speaker 2>I were just talking about it.
<v Speaker 7>Yeah, that was. That was a dream project. That was
<v Speaker 7>and now one of my favorite.
<v Speaker 3>Wait, so can you get more in detail? What what
<v Speaker 3>what's your specific role? So I was designing that ride.
<v Speaker 8>So I was in the architecture group, So I did
<v Speaker 8>a lot of three D modeling, so basically that so
<v Speaker 8>there there was that building, that existing building, and then
<v Speaker 8>we had that giant ride box behind, so three D
<v Speaker 8>modeling that that ride box, the kind of like bridge
<v Speaker 8>that goes up into the giant box, and then a
<v Speaker 8>little bit of the Q line also, I did a
<v Speaker 8>lot of like Q line designing, and so.
<v Speaker 3>Like when you're designing a ride, so like what I
<v Speaker 3>noticed when I'm at Disneyland, disney World, et cetera, is
<v Speaker 3>it focuses your attention, you know, like literally the ride
<v Speaker 3>turns to focus your attention. Like that's obviously intentional, right, right.
<v Speaker 7>I mean that's specifically for for that ride. The thing
<v Speaker 7>that I love about.
<v Speaker 8>That ride is like it moves you so like you're
<v Speaker 8>you can turn and then you're like you're like grabbing
<v Speaker 8>the earth, you know, as you spin around it, and
<v Speaker 8>it's just.
<v Speaker 7>So smooth and so smooth. It's crazy how I don't
<v Speaker 7>know and that's.
<v Speaker 4>The newest Disney ride if I'm not mistaken.
<v Speaker 7>Yeah, one of the yea of the because that was greatest. Yeah.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, that's so cool.
<v Speaker 7>Man and stuff.
<v Speaker 2>What an amazing tradition to be a part of. Yeah,
<v Speaker 2>you know, And and it lives forever, you know. That's
<v Speaker 2>that's one of the things I like about it.
<v Speaker 4>It's yeah, it's forever. I mean, that's I was saying
<v Speaker 4>that the other day, Like the matter horn came out
<v Speaker 4>in the sixth that ride's not going anywhere anytime. Yeah.
