00:00:02 Speaker 1: It's here. 00:00:03 Speaker 2: It's World Series week. World Series week has arrived. We have a few days to talk about it. 00:00:09 Speaker 3: I know that layoff is gonna wear it. 00:00:10 Speaker 4: Man, there's three days for the Blue Jays and the Dodgers had like a week, so both you know what, they're not even gonna play the games. They're just gonna forfeit, both of them because they had too much time off. 00:00:19 Speaker 3: Todd because you. 00:00:20 Speaker 4: Know, too much time off is just you know, the enemy of all the good teams. Only when they lose, though, only when they lose though. 00:00:28 Speaker 5: Good point well taken. 00:00:30 Speaker 1: But they both have layoffs, That's what I'm saying. 00:00:33 Speaker 4: So there's neither team gonna play with the excuse out. They can't throw the excuse out. That's what's funny about. 00:00:37 Speaker 1: Should we be taking the unders? 00:00:39 Speaker 3: No, we should be taking like neither team is gonna win. 00:00:42 Speaker 4: They're just gonna tie every game because they're both had too much rest. So maybe by game four they'll be able to actually win. Someone choose a winner. 00:00:49 Speaker 2: That's all gone now, well not all gone, but Dodgers, you know, it's it's crazy to think about this. Top By the Dodgers were a wild card team. They don't feel they in the division. No, no, but they were in the wildcard round. Sorry, sorry, they were in the wildcard round, right, they were not a by team because I'm thinking, I'm like, oh, two buy teams made it again. 00:01:08 Speaker 1: Like last year, I was like, no, no, no, wait, I forgot it. 00:01:10 Speaker 3: Basically had the Reds. Sorry, Tod, That's. 00:01:16 Speaker 6: All right, listen, you're just speaking facts right now. That's all yeah. Well, let's do this. 00:01:21 Speaker 2: Let's let's get right into the aftermath of both what happened in Game seven, postgame quote, the whole deal. Let's rewrack it. We did thirty minutes on the postgame show last night. Let's do a little more right now. 00:01:33 Speaker 1: Let's charge. 00:01:36 Speaker 3: Let's charge about. 00:01:39 Speaker 1: All right, we're charging baby. 00:01:42 Speaker 2: First off, we were on at the end of the postgame show with the Dan Wilson line and it almost seemed fake because we just had it from like a reporter, was a direct quote, and there are actually some replies like is this the real quote that he said? And then he did multiple inner news after that and used the same word over and over again, which we just joked about. 00:02:04 Speaker 1: Pivot man. 00:02:06 Speaker 4: Basically, it's the guy you're trying to get. They used to call him set up guys. He used to call them different things. Apparently that's the vernacular they use in Seattle, but basically means how you're going to get to your closer and to me, I just don't know. 00:02:19 Speaker 3: Here. 00:02:19 Speaker 4: Here's the thing for me. If you look at it, Todd and you used to look, you're in the seventh inning. 00:02:23 Speaker 3: Okay. 00:02:23 Speaker 4: We talked about this last night. But if Kirby, who was absolutely shoving, goes one more inning, then you're in through the fifth, okay, and then you can use WU for six seven. Then Moon New was eight nine. It didn't happen. He went after four, he went, He went early and got WU two solid innings, lead off walk base his. 00:02:39 Speaker 3: Sack butt second and third. 00:02:41 Speaker 4: You can kind of see this coming after the walk then, you know, so you're like, all right, we got to get moon news. 00:02:45 Speaker 3: Maybe you have two people over at the same time. 00:02:47 Speaker 4: But the key for me is where were you in the lineup? You were at the top of the lineup, right, So you need to have your best guy, not your guy. If Bizardo was your best guy, he would have been their closer. Munas was unbelievable and his slider is one of the best bitch ever in base second best pitch in baseball behind Scoople's change up the whole year. So you use him to get through the seventh, use him to get through the eighth when you're probably gonna get Vlad and three, four, five ish in the middle line, and then by the time you get to the ninth, you're at the bottom of the order. Use Gabe's fire, use Matt brash Us bizarreo. Then you have multiple options. Instead, he was playing the standard game, which has kind of gone out the window at this point in baseball. You just got to get through the toughest point. And to me and everyone's saying it, that was the save. That's seventh and eighth inning when you were gonna get Vlad's last a bat and all that, he didn't do it and. 00:03:35 Speaker 3: They lost. 00:03:37 Speaker 6: Yeah, And I think when you're talking about pivot, it's the in between guy. You know, it's the guy that you try pivoting to get to your better pitcher. So and I think the focus is here. Listen, it's winner go home. You got to put your best people right away. You can't live to see another day tomorrow without throwing who you think is the best possibility, and if you have to throw him in the fifth inn he throw him in the fifth inning and hope for the best. As the game went on. He didn't throw much. Munos didn't throw much at all in this series. And you know, he was he was perfect, he was hot, he was ready to go, and it just didn't work out. You know, a lot of could have, should have would as but it just seemed like the logical thing to do. 00:04:22 Speaker 5: Put him in there. 00:04:23 Speaker 6: If he's got to go two innings, if he's got to go three innings, whatever it was. It was just an opportunity to get that shut down with second and third. 00:04:31 Speaker 5: He's a strikeout pitcher, he's a guy that gets out. 00:04:35 Speaker 6: It just didn't work out, man, And now you're sitting back on the flight home, like, h Man, what did we do wrong? And I think that was one position where they might have, you know, might have done better. 00:04:48 Speaker 2: You know, Dan Wilson said that he was in that role for them all season. Cool June twentieth, May tenth, July eighteenth is October twentieth. 00:05:01 Speaker 3: Great. 00:05:02 Speaker 1: You don't play the game the same way. 00:05:03 Speaker 4: You don't changes, especially in a game seven, you play it backwards. Yeah, you've got to look at the lineup and where they are in the lineup. And this is what's again, this is when you talk to managers. It gets going fast and you kind of lose, but you have to you have to be so forward thinking as a manager. And this is where I think Dan Wilson got a little bit. 00:05:20 Speaker 3: It went so. 00:05:21 Speaker 4: Fast on him in that in that game, Brian was cruising. He thought, oh man, we can get him there one more than we have Munias for the eighth to ninth. But as soon as that first guy gets on, you got to get Munio's up. And it's easy to say it, say that from sitting here, but listen, it's the way the game is played. 00:05:37 Speaker 2: And had some good moments in the postseason, Todd father, but I mean Detroit got to him in the one game. 00:05:46 Speaker 3: How much he's pitched the James Matt Braush Munya's Todd. You talk about ms He threw two innings. 00:05:52 Speaker 2: And they saw Bizarto four times, including the to two inning appearance. 00:05:58 Speaker 1: Yes, I mean they. 00:05:59 Speaker 3: Got before right game sixty through two innings. 00:06:03 Speaker 2: Top either you see the same guy enough, things are going to start to change. And for as good as he was during the season, for them that dude's stuff is not Andres Munos. 00:06:15 Speaker 5: No and three run homer is a huge backbreaker. Two. 00:06:19 Speaker 6: So, and you're sitting there, if you're in, if you're a defender, if you're in the infield, and you see you don't see Muno's coming out, like all right, well, okay, I know this is game seven here, you know, like you kind of second guess a little bit as a fielder, and you hope for the best and you hope that he does the job. And man, my goodness, it must have been so electric last night you saw Bautista in the suite. 00:06:42 Speaker 5: That was another big moment for Toronto. And now look what happens. 00:06:46 Speaker 6: They're going to the World Series and it's gonna be a fantastic World Series in my opinion too. 00:06:52 Speaker 7: For all your parents out there like me, with teenagers trying to already keep a million things under control, cash App is here to help us make sure your team's money and they're spending isn't adding up to craziness. 00:07:04 Speaker 2: With the cash App card available to teens thirteen to seventeen with sponsorship by an eligible parent or guardian, every transaction triggers a real time notification for you to see, empowering your team to practice independence while giving you peace of mind by keeping track of their spending. Now the games didn't dictate it sometimes, but he threw two innings and something. He couldn't have given you two innings in that game. 00:08:13 Speaker 1: I mean, he couldn't have given you three. 00:08:14 Speaker 3: Innings in that game. 00:08:15 Speaker 1: I don't know, at least six outs. 00:08:19 Speaker 2: And then you worry about where you're at at that point, with where you are in the lineup. It just it's really hard to fathom. I remember talking about it last night. Then we hear the postgame sound which actually have let's let's play it from Dan Wilson because what's happening now in Seattle is if you don't go on social media, if you're anything connected to the Mariners right now, because they're losing their minds. They have never been to the World Series as a fan base, and they felt like they were right there and one. 00:08:47 Speaker 1: Boneheaded decision costs them. 00:08:49 Speaker 3: Bone headed. 00:08:50 Speaker 1: It's very stupid, it's very boneheaded. 00:08:52 Speaker 5: I would have known that far. 00:08:54 Speaker 3: That's a little harsh guy. 00:08:55 Speaker 4: I would say, it's a questionable decision, and it's very easy to second guess because but it's it's it's a boneheaded is is. 00:09:02 Speaker 3: Kind of harsh. 00:09:03 Speaker 4: So, Scott, I know how much you love the Marriners, since you pick him to win the World Series or I love the Marins. Like the guy who screamed when Brian will was talking, that was you last night when the Mariners lost. 00:09:14 Speaker 3: I understand it. A boneheaded is harsh, there's a questionable decision. 00:09:17 Speaker 2: All right, let's play some Dan Wilson post game sound and see if this made Mariners fans feel better on the accountability side. 00:09:25 Speaker 3: I mean, Brian was soon in ballshot. 00:09:27 Speaker 8: You know, first of all, George I thought football excellent, and then Brian picked up right where George left off, and and uh, you know, gives it. 00:09:35 Speaker 5: A good spot to be in. 00:09:36 Speaker 4: And and you know, after the walk, you know, hoping to get the ground ball, which we. 00:09:40 Speaker 5: Did, but it just found a hole. 00:09:43 Speaker 8: And then you know we knew and thens is good a bunt there, And and you know, Bizarto has been the guy that's that's gotten us through those situations, those tight ones, especially in the pivot role, and you know that's that's where we were going at that point. 00:09:55 Speaker 3: How much did you consider going to Munnos? And why did you like Bizaro better than Munos? 00:09:59 Speaker 8: And as tuition, well, I mean, I think, like we said, Zarto has been doing it all season long, and it's been so consistent at it, and he's done such a good job all year, and you know, felt really comfortable with him out there, the way he's been throwing the ball. 00:10:13 Speaker 4: Especially in the series, and and you know it was a good spot form. 00:10:21 Speaker 2: Mariners fans don't feel good about that answer. Does he say that or does he say, hey, I made the wrong move? 00:10:28 Speaker 1: You can't say. 00:10:28 Speaker 3: No manager ever says that. 00:10:30 Speaker 2: Why they don't, but it was it's so obvious, like oops, A lot of Mariners fans wanted accountability. Hey made the wrong move. My closer's got to be in there in that moment. 00:10:42 Speaker 1: We messed up. That's on me. 00:10:45 Speaker 2: This team should be in the World Series right now. Players do it actually frequent? 00:10:48 Speaker 4: Then here here's the thing. A lot of managers managed to the questions after the game nowadays. And if the same brings Hi Munos, the springer still goes deep, then at least he can. 00:10:57 Speaker 2: Say, hey, I have my best guy out the best guy out there got the oh well, then we. 00:11:01 Speaker 6: All say, oh well, it's it's the decisions you don't make that will haunt you more than the decisions you do make in those situations. So for me, you bring them in. It's the best decision and the decision you make instead of sitting there like, uh, we're good, we're gonna pump his art. Oh in, I'm not gonna put him there, and now the haunt will come back now because it's a decision you did not make to do. 00:11:27 Speaker 2: In my opinion, Yeah, I mean, it's just like when a pitcher makes a great pitch and a hitter still goes deep off them or gets a big knock. You're like, did nothing wrong there, great pitch just got beat. M's fans feel like this was their shot. 00:11:42 Speaker 3: There was a lot of There was a lot of emotion too after that. I mean, you want to hear it. 00:11:49 Speaker 4: We have it crying. Both teams are crying. This is like Todd when Todd works the Little League World Series. Man, after every game, no teams are crying. It was like, that's how much it's meant to these guys. I mean, like the Little League World Series, how much it means to those teams. 00:12:00 Speaker 3: I mean, this is this is how much both teams were head guys with tears in their eyes. Was unbelievable. 00:12:05 Speaker 5: Yeah, I was. 00:12:07 Speaker 1: You want to hear the scream. 00:12:10 Speaker 5: Sure it is. It is Halloween, so might as well that's true. 00:12:13 Speaker 2: We're almost there, ten days away, all right here, it is. 00:12:18 Speaker 5: What ultimately, do you feel like the legacy of this team is going to be having gone further than any other team in franchise history? That I mean legacy is No one's really satisfied or happy with this. 00:12:34 Speaker 3: I think. 00:12:36 Speaker 2: Apparently that was Julio Rodriguez, which, honestly, if I'm an MS fan, I'm obsessed with that one sounds it means this dude is going to spend the next ten years in his contract or whatever it is. 00:12:48 Speaker 1: I'm trying to do more of that. 00:12:50 Speaker 3: It's amazing. 00:12:50 Speaker 1: It wasn't on him. 00:12:51 Speaker 4: It's amazing they haven't been to the World Series. I mean, he had a great game last night was the last, right, But the fact they have never been to a World Series. 00:12:59 Speaker 3: Is still it's it's insaneity to me. 00:13:01 Speaker 2: Nineteen seventy seven. It's the only team that's been this deep into their history. 00:13:05 Speaker 3: Team remember they never went to I mean that's playing right now. 00:13:07 Speaker 2: But even in sports, there's a bigger stat about it. Did you see that one? 00:13:11 Speaker 3: Oh? Really? 00:13:12 Speaker 1: Yeah, I can pull it up for you, give me like three seconds. 00:13:15 Speaker 6: Is this the new like? Is this like the new curse of the Bambino thing. They're gonna always be close enough and then never get there or is this just bad luck? 00:13:23 Speaker 5: I don't know. 00:13:25 Speaker 2: This is about as close as you can get, so I'll give you this on the way out. This will be the forty eighth World Series since the Mariners began play in nineteen seventy seven. No other MLB, NBA, NFL, or NHL franchise all time has gone that long to begin a franchise history without reaching the championship round while remaining in the same city. 00:13:47 Speaker 1: It's a mouthful, but it actually makes a lot of sense. 00:13:49 Speaker 4: Let's also let's also not forget the Mariners. Yes, they did lose, but the Blue Jays also won this game. They got big hits when they had Yeah, they can't. They lost the first two games at home, went to Seattle one to two, and then came back and won two games they had win. So let's also give Toronto some props here. 00:14:03 Speaker 1: We did twenty out of the thirty minutes last I know. 00:14:05 Speaker 3: I'm just saying, but let's not forget. 00:14:06 Speaker 4: As sad as it was for the Mariner fans, and I feel for your Mariner fans, let's also remember the Blue Jays are a team that. 00:14:14 Speaker 3: Are moving on. 00:14:15 Speaker 1: Yes, they deserved it. 00:14:16 Speaker 3: They deserve it. They played awesome. 00:14:17 Speaker 2: Yeah, we just wanted to kind of close the book on what happened there with that game and felt like that was the big moment that people are freaking out about online in Seattle. By far, funniest moment last night on our post game show was when we started talking about Josh Naylor Todd father, have you ever seen something like that? And would you die for your team in Game seven like Josh Naylor almost did when he jumped into that baseball early on and got the interference. 00:14:42 Speaker 6: So watching on TV, like, oh man, this is such a smart play. You know, you just keep running straight. But then you saw the replay, It's like, oh man, that was that was tough. You know, jumping in the air, like everybody did the right thing. You throw the ball directly at the runner if he's not gonna flide hits him in the back of the I had. 00:15:00 Speaker 5: It was kind of it was kind of. 00:15:01 Speaker 6: A boneheaded play, but you know, he's the type of person, you know, to do a little magic and almost got away with it. 00:15:08 Speaker 5: So I've never seen that before. 00:15:11 Speaker 6: I've seen guys get hit, but I've never seen somebody jump high in the air to try and knock the ball down. 00:15:17 Speaker 5: Inadverted. 00:15:17 Speaker 3: It looks like aj last night. I was not in inverted by the way. That was one. He knew exactly what he was doing, jumping, And I don't hate him for it. I actually I kind of dig it. 00:15:27 Speaker 4: I kind of dig it a little bit because, yeah, I mean, why not he's trying. 00:15:30 Speaker 3: Maybe he gets away with it. 00:15:32 Speaker 1: It wasn't on your checklist. You didn't do that. 00:15:33 Speaker 4: He didn't have that one coming, didn't see that one coming. But Josh Taylor, I tipped my cap to you, man, Todd. It's trying to do anything to win for your team. 00:15:40 Speaker 3: Bro. 00:15:41 Speaker 2: Shout out to Don maddingly going to his first World Series forty six years in pro ball. 00:15:46 Speaker 3: In some it's a shame he never got to go with the Yankees. 00:15:49 Speaker 2: I know, but look at that smile, Like dude, half a century almost in the sport, and now he gets to experience the World Series as a coach on the Blue Jayson A super cool Todd father. 00:16:02 Speaker 1: Have you come across Donnie, I have, I have. 00:16:04 Speaker 6: He doesn't forget a thing either, man, I great guy. To talk to, great guy to be around. He's a baseball lifer and uh, you know, from the time I played, he was really great to talk to. Yankee lore anything you could possibly think of. And you can see that pretty genuine. There was a lot of genuine and real and raw emotion during this time, and you know, it's exciting. It's very exciting for baseball and some people. And I thought that was a pretty cool moment. 00:16:34 Speaker 1: And there's Mark Fines. 00:16:35 Speaker 2: I know Yankee fans don't have fun feelings for the Blue Jays, but the idea of Donnie finally getting a World Series ring is kind of awesome. 00:16:40 Speaker 3: Well, he has to win. 00:16:42 Speaker 4: He's got a tall task right now, he's got a second place ring if they don't win. 00:16:46 Speaker 2: Yeah, tall, tall task against the Dodgers. 00:16:49 Speaker 1: But I'm excited. 00:16:50 Speaker 2: I mean, they're at least heading into the series feeling real good. That was like the high of highs. But four days later and now you're going to run into an ace every single night in the World Series. 00:17:01 Speaker 3: In a lineup that doesn't quit either. Yeah, it's gonna be. 00:17:04 Speaker 4: It's gonna be a fun series, though. I think I think it's gonna be. I think it's gonna be better. I think everyone's just assuming the Dodgers are gonna wipe them out, but I think it could be better. 00:17:12 Speaker 3: I think so. 00:17:14 Speaker 5: Not a. 00:17:18 Speaker 2: Let's take you through the Arena Club slab pack experience. This is part two because Todd Father last week pulled a card that he didn't love, yet he sold it back for actually more than what the slab pack cost. This time pulls a card that he likes. 00:17:34 Speaker 6: Yeah, and this is the best part of it. Ronnie Mauricio, the Mets stand out, you know, rookie sensation. He's been absolutely phenomenal. I like the itch of seeing what you're gonna get, you know, I like prospects. I don't love him, but seeing this kind of card is actually absolutely beautiful thing. I know a couple of people around town that would absolutely love that card. So there's gonna be a lot of conversations going on here for Arena Club. 00:17:55 Speaker 5: And what you do is you have it in your digital showroom. 00:17:57 Speaker 2: If you want to hand it out locally cool, you ask Arena Club to send it to you and they do, or you can sell it back like you see there instant offer for one hundred and ninety three bucks. 00:18:07 Speaker 1: But he's keeping it and you can. 00:18:09 Speaker 2: Do what Todd Father does by going to Arena club dot com slash foul and getting twenty percent off your first card purchase or your first slab pack purchase. That's one I left hell and this is blaking news. During the show, Kurt Suzuki, forty two years old, is being hired by the Angels to run the dugout. He is going to be the new manager of the Angels. Artie Moreno has made his call. He was talking to Albert Poohols. He seemed to be like the front runner. It sounds like money and some other philosophy. He's gotten the way of that one. There were others like Tory Hunter in the mix, but Kurtzuzuki was a top tier candidate as well. Do either of you guys know him like well, I mean I've interviewed him a number of times. 00:18:54 Speaker 4: Something nice, super smart a long time, okay, I mean he's always nice. 00:18:57 Speaker 2: Yeah, he's catcher. Yeah, he's worked a little bit. Not I was he in He was a special assistant to GM perrimanation. 00:19:05 Speaker 4: So he's been there for four years, two years, three years. So this was his twenty three five mm hmm so obviously him and an Asian have a relationship working with each other the last three. 00:19:20 Speaker 2: Years and the two years prior he was on the Angels back, he's been there. 00:19:24 Speaker 3: For a while. 00:19:25 Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, good for him. 00:19:28 Speaker 5: Cool, Yeah, this is this is great. 00:19:31 Speaker 6: I think the baseball world needs more players becoming managers. I really like this. I really enjoy this. There's a bunch of them now, But the more we can get the players that have been there before and understand, especially a guy who's caught his whole career understanding pitchers their tendencies, And now he gets to have an opportunity to manage a team and hopefully get them kickstarted in the right direction, and starts with our our good friend Mike Trout and it goes from there. Oh yeah, this is a great signing. I'm happy for him. Another player gets another shot of doing what he loves to do, and that's play the game. End manager game now. So I can't wait to see what he has in store. I can't wait to see his coaching philosophies. I think it's going to be truly remarkable for him and the Angels. 00:20:15 Speaker 2: He hasn't coached. Are we okay with that? He hasn't coached in the bigs. Stephen Vote did what one year a bullpen coach in Seattle. Yeah, and then he ran in there and he's been really good. 00:20:27 Speaker 3: Didn't coach. There's been guys that have done it. Yeah, I'm Bendley never coached, and he was He won a World Series right right from the TV booth. 00:20:34 Speaker 2: Just it just depends on the person, right, yeah, you got it or you don't. And also, you know what, you know, it sticks with me a lot now and it's just it's a stupid, like common phrase that you go dub. But when we talked to Mike Shilton, you're like, yo, you've had two big years. 00:20:47 Speaker 1: What's your key? And he's like, good players, ye, I mean. 00:20:51 Speaker 4: Good ownership, good players, good coaches, every good communication. But managing has changed so much, just more of now about connecting with the players than it ever was. I mean, because you know, as much as every manager says, oh, I'm not giving the lineup, the front office does have some input on everything, so you got to it's not it's not like back in the day when the manager had all the power and literally you can't You're going down because I don't like you and you're gonna get traded now. The GM's in the front office have that power and they and they don't necessarily give you the lineups, but they give you a good idea. Remember Matt Williams bench Bryce Harper for not running, and Matt Williams got fire and Bryce Harper did not go anywhere. 00:21:29 Speaker 2: The managers have the third most juice out of three. Number one is front office because they decide who's there and who's not. Number two is players, and number three is manager. In my mind, yeah, you're not gonna here with you're a star player anymore, right, top father, I mean the player if he's there for a long time and he's he's the man like, you're not gonna win that battle. 00:21:51 Speaker 6: Never No, And that's just the way it's been. But I another point I can't wait see who's coaching staff, is that they're gonna keep guys. They're gonna revamp the all things so that that's the next thing to come out. I I know Krats he's looking for a first base coaching job. 00:22:05 Speaker 5: Maybe he'll sneak in there. 00:22:08 Speaker 1: Number one. That's good. 00:22:09 Speaker 2: That's good Kratz in California. And I don't think he's leaving Amish country number two. I don't think Krats. I think Krats is actually smarter than you guys think. He is not going to work for a team that doesn't even fix the air conditioning. We can joke about it, but it is true, like it is a micro cosm. 00:22:28 Speaker 1: They fixed it. 00:22:29 Speaker 3: Out, I think so. I thought they redid their whole spring training. 00:22:31 Speaker 1: Comb No, wait, you didn't hear about this, Oh the air conditioning in the weight room. 00:22:35 Speaker 2: You were off that day, but you say Kukuchi came out and said something. And then actually Polar I think was on that day and he was like, yeah, that's on brand, like we had issues like that. That's unacceptable, true, And it wasn't like, oh, it's broken and we're going to fix it in the next few days. Kukuchi said he's sweating balls there because they didn't fix it once it broke, that was it done the rest of the season. 00:22:58 Speaker 1: If you want to work out. 00:22:59 Speaker 2: Cool, but it's hot yoga baby, that's unacceptable to me, Todd father. That's the stuff that stands out and some people might there are some people that you're a big leaguer, like figure it out. 00:23:10 Speaker 1: Or pay for it yourself. That's that's not how it works. 00:23:12 Speaker 2: You don't bring in your own technician to fix that guy's home park, you know the owner. 00:23:17 Speaker 1: So that's the. 00:23:19 Speaker 2: Point here is how does he navigate working with somebody who is very difficult to work with. 00:23:26 Speaker 5: Yeah, that's that's what you're gonna have to do as a manager. You're the boss. 00:23:30 Speaker 6: You're you're the boss on the field, and you're gonna have to figure out and not step on anybody's toes and try and be your own person. And I think that's what Kurtzuzuki is going to bring his own mind, his own person, and his. 00:23:40 Speaker 5: Own managerial way of what he wants to do. 00:23:43 Speaker 6: And like I said, I can't wait to see what happens. The smiley guy's gonna be happy. I want to see his first argument. I want to see it all. I want to see how he react to everything. 00:23:52 Speaker 2: My thing is Albert Pouhols we've been talking about. This is actually apparently highly coveted, but I think a very risky hire. And I think he would have been a good fit in Anaheim because he would have been able to kind of learn on the job, do his thing a little less pressure, and I think he would have been one of the few guys that can actually bite back at his boss and be like, hey, bro, you don't know everything. How's how's everything going for you the past twenty years? 00:24:16 Speaker 5: Not great? 00:24:17 Speaker 1: Can Kurt do that? Can Kirk go up to Artie and be like, listen, dude. 00:24:20 Speaker 3: It's not his job. It's his it's it's more manasium that has to do it. 00:24:24 Speaker 1: Okay, it's tough. 00:24:26 Speaker 3: I agree, that's other power dynamics have changed. 00:24:30 Speaker 2: Listen. 00:24:31 Speaker 3: I'll tell you what. Kirk Suzuki. 00:24:33 Speaker 4: I hope he does awesome at this job. But why did they hire Kerzuzuki not Robert Rules? 00:24:39 Speaker 1: They were fighting about money? 00:24:42 Speaker 4: How much do you think that they don't tell us because they God forbid Todd. They tell us how much coaches and managers in front office people make. But he was probably a relatively cheap higher. 00:24:52 Speaker 2: Oh yeah, no more than two million, maybe maybe one million. 00:24:55 Speaker 4: And I guess what they probably feel like, Hey, we can control them a little bit because he wants the job. 00:25:01 Speaker 5: This is why. 00:25:02 Speaker 3: And I hate to say that because I like Curzi. He's a really nice guy. 00:25:05 Speaker 2: There's only thirty of these, so you take one. See if you can do something with it. I'm trying to come up with a pathway. 00:25:10 Speaker 4: Plus, you got to get a good reputation out there if you want to go on to another team, like possibly could not be the Angels. Like I mean, Angels have been a mess for a long time now. 00:25:21 Speaker 2: They shuffle through managers every other year. And I'm just trying to come up with a pathway for Angels fans to feel like they have hope. 00:25:29 Speaker 3: They're young, cores their hope okay, and they need pitching. 00:25:34 Speaker 2: And they have to go get pitching, and they need to be able to fix little things and operate the way that most modern franchises operate. 00:25:42 Speaker 4: I like I do is look at the other team in Los Angeles, even though they're an Anaheim. What the Dodgers do. They help their players in every way possible and all everything to every minor league's on up. 00:25:54 Speaker 3: They do it. 00:25:54 Speaker 4: They give the players everything they want need. If anybody asks for some of the Dodgers, they don't say no. 00:25:58 Speaker 2: And everything that the Dodgers do this is true, like that can be done by the Angels. We're not talking about. This isn't about signing players. The Angels have like they spend on players here and there. But when there are little things in the organization that don't get done, those are the little cheap things that make all of the difference in the world. You ask so many players about that. The line that people liked from us last week was how we said, hey, google Frank McCort. It wasn't that long ago, and he was running the team and he didn't do those things. 00:26:28 Speaker 1: He was more like an Ardie Marino and the Dodgers weren't very good. 00:26:32 Speaker 2: True, it's about territory presented by the brand new Fox one app. There the presenting sponsor through the World Series. Where can you watch the World Series? 00:26:44 Speaker 3: Fox one? 00:26:45 Speaker 2: That is correct, start your seven day free trial today at foxwe dot com. So stream all your Fox favorites together in one place. Hey, I want to bring up a fan comment from last night's postgame show, and I told the fan i'd get to it now. The name is zach er Sick. I don't understand how it's not talked about more. Springers shouldn't even have had in at bat. That was an obvious intentional walk. Tied for third most go ahead homers. No blah blah for the double. 00:27:42 Speaker 4: Play because you don't want Glad to have a chance to get up at any because let's say they walk him and then Lucas doesn't hit into a double play, then you got Vlad coming up, who they didn't want to face at all. 00:27:52 Speaker 3: So no, it's not you hope he does. He hits a sack fly, you give up one. 00:27:56 Speaker 4: You still winning three to two, and then you get Lucas out and then the next inning you face flat with nobody on and you're up at least one run. No, that's not, that's not That is not the point. Now, if it was vlag Guerrero up and that's yes, that's an easy intention on. But George Springer No, I don't care what his he hit. We talked about it in the post game last night. They were just blowing heater for two days since he got in the knee. 00:28:17 Speaker 5: Heater. 00:28:17 Speaker 4: Buy him heater, buy him heater, buy him and he finally caught up the one. It was right down the middle, but they had thrown him right down the middle before, and he had been laid on them all right, and he finally just got the one. 00:28:29 Speaker 3: Shit happens? 00:28:30 Speaker 2: My thing was, Todd Father, I don't think any because I'm just trying to think, like, what does the modern game do. I don't think any manager in that spot says I'm going to walk him knowing that you're now going to get to Vladie Junior. But I think just about every manager does bring in munius for that situation in these days. 00:28:49 Speaker 5: Yep, easy, easy question, easy answer. Yep. A lot like we talked about before, could a shittle? What is? 00:28:55 Speaker 6: There's a lot of questioning after the fact, and that's part of this game and any sport. 00:29:00 Speaker 5: Why did you do this? We could have done this, What could have happened? Nobody ever knows? 00:29:05 Speaker 2: How about in the World Series, Todd Father, how careful are you going to be. If you're the Dodgers with Flatty Junior, you're like, I've got such good pitching. 00:29:13 Speaker 1: Yeah, or do you say, hey, I'm going. 00:29:15 Speaker 4: To be a little you see, it goes early with with his ab See how it goes early and how you're planning to attack him goes If he's hot, then you change but early I think with Snow probably starting game one. Then you have Yamamoto, then you have glass Now, and then you have show Hey pitch, that's Todd. 00:29:34 Speaker 3: That's all dudes that throw a hundred with nasty stuff. 00:29:36 Speaker 5: I mean, yeah, you take your chances early for sure, real quick. 00:29:41 Speaker 1: Just give me a yes or not. 00:29:42 Speaker 2: Game one, first base is due, that second first base is open in a big spot. 00:29:47 Speaker 1: Do you walk Flatty? 00:29:49 Speaker 3: What's what? 00:29:50 Speaker 1: I don't know. 00:29:50 Speaker 2: I mean, I'm not gonna have time first, mid game. 00:29:54 Speaker 3: Depends on, depends on where we're at. It's so hard to just I hate that. I hate that. 00:29:59 Speaker 5: I'm many different scenarios. How many different scenarios. 00:30:04 Speaker 2: On Friday Show, Hey O, Tani will be on a plane to Toronto. There's Bill Plunket and many others. I mean, FT threw that out there too last night. Finally, Otani on a plane. Wait, but this is the story. I want to ask Godfather shoe Hey o Tani was thinking about Toronto or maybe he wasn't. 00:30:26 Speaker 1: I don't know. 00:30:26 Speaker 2: Roki Sazaki, I think was decided for years that he wanted to sign with the Dodgers because every team can pay about the same. I think they're gonna get booed like crazy in Toronto. Those two in particular are public enemy number one and two, because Toronto feels like they were slighted for their team, their location, whatever it had more to do with those guys just really want to be with the Dodgers. But that's not how fans and fan bases think about it. Don't you think they're gonna go nuts for those two with Booze? 00:30:54 Speaker 5: I think he is gonna get most of the all of it. I don't. I don't know about the other. 00:30:59 Speaker 6: I think show Hey is his enemy number one, especially with the whole saga that went down and always on a flight. You know he's got this. I remember like it was yesterday, We're having a good laugh over the whole thing. We thought it was serious too. We all got shamboozled with the whole thing. And next thing you know he's going to the Dodgers, So yes, there will be some signs. There will be some yelling, some screaming, and guess what, he leads off too, So this is gonna be pretty incredible. I just I can't wait for this World Series. It's gonna be a lot of fun. 00:31:29 Speaker 2: He leads off and Rookie Sasaki is going to be finishing games. And up until a month ago, it was a complete non story. Right if these two teams are matching up, they would have been like, ha ha. The guy that we desperately wanted and we thought maybe was considering us isn't even a factor. 00:31:44 Speaker 1: Oh wait, now he's like huge closer. So there's cool storylines. What's his name? Tasker Hernandez back to. 00:31:53 Speaker 4: Toronto, Toronto last year or yeah, yeah, give it. 00:31:57 Speaker 1: It's the World Series. 00:31:58 Speaker 2: It's smashed the home in that series, but this is the World Series, like it it resets because it's a big moment. So I just think it's funny you look for those storylines. 00:32:10 Speaker 1: I mean, of. 00:32:10 Speaker 3: Course, what did they always say everything in the postseason is a story? 00:32:14 Speaker 2: Yeah, Monk Mode, Will O'tani go for a four homer game? I mean, yeah, it'll go for it. The thing we spoke yesterday time either we didn't get your comment on this, but of Otani's performance on Friday, just as a former ballplayer, knowing how freaking hard it is to play the sport, what were you thinking when you saw that? 00:32:33 Speaker 5: I was thinking, go grab a newspaper. This is going to be a history in the making. 00:32:36 Speaker 6: This is something that in fifty hundred years, I don't think it'll ever be topped. It's the only person I think that could top it's him again, So. 00:32:46 Speaker 5: I thought it was absolutely incredible. 00:32:48 Speaker 6: You know, I tell everybody, guys, this might be this time in baseball. You're seeing the best to ever play the game ever. Will this ever happen in our lifetime? Probably not. You got some of the best baseball players ever to play this game and you're watching it. 00:33:04 Speaker 5: Please sit back and watch the show. It is truly remarkable. 00:33:08 Speaker 6: I tell my kids, my two boys, I said, dude, you're witnessing history here, and it's so cool to watch. Baseball is such in a good spot with these guys playing the game and winning and doing their best and now seeing in the World Series. 00:33:21 Speaker 5: Truly truly remarkable. There's nobody like Sho heo. 00:33:24 Speaker 6: Tani, and I tell you what, the coolest thing I've seen on a baseball field. 00:33:29 Speaker 2: Yeah, it's hard to appreciate history sometimes while it's happening, or at least for me, Like I'm watching them like this is ridiculous, but it's happening, and then it passes and you're like, Okay, should I have done something different? 00:33:42 Speaker 1: Now? 00:33:42 Speaker 2: Just watch the game and just be like enjoy it. Yeah, this is fun. And the only thing I do is as a greedy fan. I just hope there are more versions, not an exact as copy of the show, hey, but just somebody else that can pitch at it like that. 00:33:57 Speaker 1: It's just cool. 00:34:00 Speaker 2: We got like five minutes. Let's bounce around a little bit. We'll start with the World Series topic, then we'll go to some of the manager news. We asked Ken about Boba Schett. Now that you got his reply, what do we think? What are you thinks gonna happen here with Boba Schett? I mean, they're not going to leave him off the roster if he says he's ready. 00:34:21 Speaker 3: I know, I just don't know what they're going to do with him. 00:34:23 Speaker 1: How do you deploy him? 00:34:25 Speaker 3: I don't know. That's the million dollars because you can't play Springer in the out. You guys saw a spinger he could barely run. 00:34:29 Speaker 2: Yeah, some people were saying that in the comments. I mean, I'm all over common. 00:34:33 Speaker 4: Use him as a pinch hitter, and then something happens like you can't can you put him on defense? 00:34:39 Speaker 3: We saw him run. It was like a week ago where he couldn't run the bases. 00:34:42 Speaker 2: Right, and he still doesn't run the base, and we need that. They're gonna have to see me easy. 00:34:45 Speaker 4: Anyone can say I'm good to go until but then until you've got to do a bunch of stuff, right, So you got to be able to run the bases. You got to be able to do a bunch of things. But do you if you're the Blue Jays and listen, I know blue Jay's fans. You all have been killing me on Twitter because I said this, but I just don't know where he plays. I don't know where he plays. And it's a tough conversation you have to have maybe and said, look, Bo, we're sorry, but should he be on the roster if he's healthy, Yes, but he also hasn't hit in six weeks September. 00:35:13 Speaker 3: When you say six was the last game. Yeah, it's been six six almost seven weeks. 00:35:18 Speaker 1: If not money, I'm less concerned about that, Todd. 00:35:21 Speaker 2: I'm more concerned about yet where you put him, because the Blue Jays have had a really strong defensive team, and I think you're going to need that. You're going to have to play some really perfect baseball out there, are we okay with Bo coming off a long, long rest here not rest rehab to jump back into one of the most important positions on the diamond in shortstop. And also, I'll say this, it's true Bobaschat's not an elite defender at shortstop, so already you've got that working against you too. It's something to think about, right, you want your defense to be tight? 00:35:53 Speaker 6: Yeah, it's hard decisions decisions, man. This is what they get paid the big box. This is what you talk about all offseason. If they win, you made the best choice in the world. If they lose, why the heck do you put. 00:36:05 Speaker 5: Him on the roster? 00:36:07 Speaker 6: You know what I mean? So you can go either way with this. He's a really superb baseball player. He can hit the ball really well. He's been off for a long time. Is he ready to go? You gotta see him run, You got to see his movements, and I think that's what they'll be trying to do these next couple of days. 00:36:25 Speaker 5: I don't know. We talk about him all the time. 00:36:27 Speaker 6: I think you have him on the roster and then you go through all different scenarios about what Pitcher's thrown. 00:36:33 Speaker 5: Do we start him here? Do we not start him here? 00:36:37 Speaker 6: You want to get him in a groove too, You don't want to just play him, and all of a sudden he went over four. 00:36:41 Speaker 5: Forget about him. So I'm glad I'm not in that situation. 00:36:45 Speaker 4: You know, everyone keeps reading up Shoreber. Well, Schwarber got to go to the Arizona Fall League or not. I don't even know instructional league. Sorry, he got like a ton of it bats. Boe has n't been doing that. I mean, I'm sure maybe he's getting some simulated game action maybe off some guys, But Scharber was actually playing in games and Shoreber was just the DH well they hit. The problem is they have a dh' His name is George Springer, and he hit the biggest home run of their gear last night. And again, you can't put him in the outfield. 00:37:11 Speaker 2: Can can you, But that's what they're looking at. 00:37:14 Speaker 5: What Okay, that might be the only scenario. 00:37:20 Speaker 4: Who do you take out Lucas or Barger? 00:37:27 Speaker 5: Yeah? 00:37:27 Speaker 3: Whoever did you take out? 00:37:29 Speaker 5: Take out one of those lefties? 00:37:32 Speaker 4: Yeah, but then you want to use Schneider, the mustache guy, and he's doing a Schneider. 00:37:37 Speaker 1: David Schneider, Yeah for lefties. 00:37:39 Speaker 3: Yeah, for Snow in game one? 00:37:41 Speaker 6: Would you would you rather just have him on the bench and use him as a pin ship role? I mean, that's gotta be you. But you haven't played in in a month and a half. 00:37:50 Speaker 4: Go get a hit off Sazaki thrown a hundred with a nasty split. You haven't played in six weeks. You haven't seen it, and you haven't had that. Also, the thing is you haven't had like that. 00:37:59 Speaker 3: It's you know how it is just a different it's a different animal when you just I don't know. It's fascinating. 00:38:07 Speaker 4: Do I want to replay absolutely, m because you'll help him if he's healthy, But again, he hasn't until you can listen. I need to see video of him running the bases, playing shortstop, moving around. There's a lot of things, and people are just like, oh, put him at second for I k he's never played. 00:38:23 Speaker 2: Second Yeah, I know. I was one of those who brought I just brought it up. I wasn't saying to do it, but a game one, it's Snell right, so you have Lucas and Barger. 00:38:31 Speaker 3: Lefties, but David Schneider probably speaking the right. 00:38:34 Speaker 2: But if not, like that could be the game where if you feel as if George Springer can be the outfield, that could be your test game. Be like, Okay, we got one game here. We're gonna do things a little differently, but Bo is one of our best hitters. He's d H Springers in the outfield. Let's see what happens and then we can go from there. It's going to be a huge story the next several days. 00:38:53 Speaker 5: So we're starting to talk. 00:38:54 Speaker 2: About it, and there will be a lot more once John Schneider starts to maybe reveal some plans about what's going on here. Anyway, let us know if we're missing something. I'll check as many comments as I can. Later on, I saw a lot of where Scott's service tweets from Mariners fans. I mean they're going through it right now. Yeah, it's funny. Scott's Service actually is drowing interest from teams. It's funny you ask M's fans. The Twins are interested, the Orioles are interested. He's going through his interviews right now. I get it they're frustrated. But also, Dan Wilson did a nice job overall this season with the Mariners. 00:39:32 Speaker 1: I mean, he had talked. 00:39:34 Speaker 4: They'll say there were some mistakes, but every manager makes mistakes and you can always nitpick every decision. So Scott's service his time right now. They hired Dan Wilson, he got them almost to the World Series, but he's still who's going to be the first guy to get the Marriers of the World Series. 00:39:49 Speaker 3: That's the question. 00:39:50 Speaker 1: I know, it's really tough to get back to that spot. 00:39:53 Speaker 3: It is really a lot of things went right for him this year. 00:39:56 Speaker 2: Yeah, and you know what, the starting staff was insane the prior to years. This year took a step back in terms of effectiveness. 00:40:03 Speaker 4: But now they get older, they're gonna start to get it. They're gonna start getting expensive at some point. 00:40:08 Speaker 2: Expensive, and they just they just went through it in the playoffs. Like if I'm a fantasy baseball player, which I am, Like, I'm worried about some of those guys just based off workload, playoffs whatever. I mean, they're not all going to get through next season clean, just like this year. So I still stand by this, Like they had this. The prior two years they could have had this, they didn't make the playoffs with those guys, right, they made up. They made it once, So it was this year, and then before that it was what twenty two? 00:40:38 Speaker 5: Right? Yeah? 00:40:38 Speaker 1: Does that sound right? Twenty two was the year where they made it. 00:40:41 Speaker 3: Did they make it twenty two and twenty three? No? Twenty three is the no? 00:40:47 Speaker 1: Sorry, a lot of numbers flying in my head. 00:40:52 Speaker 2: Twenty two, yeah, because it was twenty two thousand and one all the way up till twenty twenty two, and then they missed again in twenty three and twenty four. Those were the two years where we were like, oh my gosh, the starting pitching staff is ridiculous. They had no bat the one thing that MEMS fans are complaining about as well, and that very valid point. Bottom of their lineup started to become a complete non factor in this series. Like Revas had a tough series, Ken Zone had a really tough series, Like they didn't have the one through nine depth that the Blue Jays had they had more talented pitching, but there were some I don't want to say auto outs, but it was not what you want at the bottom. They didn't feel like they completely filled out the roster there. True, All right, let's slap We now know who the two World Series teams are and Todd father.
