<v Speaker 1>Hey, everybody, welcome to Games Morning Is with me Jeff Grub,
<v Speaker 1>your host from GiantBomb dot com. Thank you for tuning in.
<v Speaker 1>In this episode, we're going to be talking about a
<v Speaker 1>new Nintendo Direct popping off tomorrow and is PlayStation canceling
<v Speaker 1>another game. It's gonna be a good one because we
<v Speaker 1>have Seth Macy on the show. Seth, how are you doing.
<v Speaker 2>I'm doing very well, Thank you very much. I am
<v Speaker 2>fired up. I'm ready to talk about Kirby more than
<v Speaker 2>I've ever wanted to talk about Kirby in my life.
<v Speaker 1>I mean, it happens to us all, not disparage, Yeah no, no,
<v Speaker 1>it comes for us all. In the end, Kirby is
<v Speaker 1>that we got to end up talking about Kirby way
<v Speaker 1>more than we ever intended to. As young men. We
<v Speaker 1>reach a certain age and it's all Kirby all the time.
<v Speaker 1>Forty five you know, we'll talk about it, but forty
<v Speaker 1>five minutes for Kirby, that's Sackarice. He gets what he
<v Speaker 1>wants over her. He's got a lot of sway. I'll say,
<v Speaker 1>how you been, Seth Macy, I've been.
<v Speaker 3>I've been very well, Thank you very much.
<v Speaker 2>I have recovered from a long injury that had kept
<v Speaker 2>me out of the game for a while. But I'm
<v Speaker 2>back and I'm training moy Thai and I'm going to
<v Speaker 2>If you want to spar or fight me at an event,
<v Speaker 2>just give me the word, you know, say the word,
<v Speaker 2>and we'll we'll throw it down.
<v Speaker 1>I just want a couple of pointers on the on
<v Speaker 1>on the the moy Thai. I just want to know,
<v Speaker 1>like can I just I just want to make it
<v Speaker 1>look good. I don't want to actually learn anything. Well,
<v Speaker 1>you to help me fool people into thinking I might
<v Speaker 1>know no moy Thai.
<v Speaker 3>Uh.
<v Speaker 2>The probably the best thing you can do then is
<v Speaker 2>learn like a windmill kick. Okay, it doesn't matter how sloppy.
<v Speaker 2>If you could spin around with a kick, people are like, wow,
<v Speaker 2>that guy is dangerous. But actually the elbows and the
<v Speaker 2>knees that are the most dangerous.
<v Speaker 3>We'll catch you.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, careful that. Yeah, it seems dangerous violent. I would
<v Speaker 1>even say a little bit.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, but it's all in the name of fun.
<v Speaker 4>Oh yeah, of course, absolutely. All right.
<v Speaker 1>You know what, let's explain ourselves. We're a giant bomb

<v Speaker 4>Hello YouTube.
<v Speaker 1>All right, we have a lot to get into, so
<v Speaker 1>let's start the Morning Mess with Kirby air Riders Direct
<v Speaker 1>revealed for tomorrow, the nineteenth of August. It's gonna happen
<v Speaker 1>around let's see here, six am Pacific time. That'll be
<v Speaker 1>nine am Easter and that's just the Yeah, my god,
<v Speaker 1>I know right, sure, we can. We'll be fine, all right.
<v Speaker 1>Here's from Jim Norman at Nintendo Life Surprise. Nintendo has
<v Speaker 1>announced that it will be holding a special Kirby Air
<v Speaker 1>Riders direct tomorrow. The announcement was made via the Nintendo
<v Speaker 1>Today app, where we learned that the showcase will kick
<v Speaker 1>off at two pmbst blah blah blah, six am. We
<v Speaker 1>went over the time. It's gonna be forty five minutes long.
<v Speaker 1>That's a lot of Kirby. What are you expecting from
<v Speaker 1>this seth.
<v Speaker 2>That's the thing is, if they had just said twenty minutes,
<v Speaker 2>I would have been like, oh cool, we get a
<v Speaker 2>rundown of like some cool new features and how fun
<v Speaker 2>it is, and you know, we all getting very excited
<v Speaker 2>about it.
<v Speaker 3>But forty five minutes, I have no idea.
<v Speaker 2>The idiot in me thinks there's gonna be like some
<v Speaker 2>big surprise that none of us saw coming. But I've
<v Speaker 2>also known that Nintendo just hasn't been doing that lately,
<v Speaker 2>so I don't.
<v Speaker 3>Know what to expect. I hope we get to see
<v Speaker 3>a little more.
<v Speaker 2>I love when we see in the mind of Sacarai
<v Speaker 2>and he's like, yeah, I've actually been working on this game,
<v Speaker 2>like at a bunker underneath a volcano with the equator
<v Speaker 2>the last five years. Something like that is what I hope.
<v Speaker 2>And yeah, maybe a glimpse into his his his amazing mind.
<v Speaker 2>I was gonna say, his dark twisted mind, but that's.
<v Speaker 1>Not from the dark twisted mind of Masserro Sacrai is. Yes, Uh,
<v Speaker 1>that's where we're gonna get from Kirby Air Riders. I'm
<v Speaker 1>with you on it though. Okay, so forty five minutes
<v Speaker 1>long time, right, Maybe he's got maybe he's got.
<v Speaker 4>A lot more to show than you can expect.
<v Speaker 1>But I mean, even then, like kurb the whole point
<v Speaker 1>of a Kirby Uh, what was the original game called
<v Speaker 1>Just Air Riders, Kirby's Just Air Ride, Just Air Kirby's
<v Speaker 1>Air Ride.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, uh, that game was.
<v Speaker 1>The whole idea was one button you're gonna you're gonna
<v Speaker 1>have the control stick and then one button gameplay is
<v Speaker 1>something I think they said in the marketing for that,
<v Speaker 1>so it was not with the whole idea is don't
<v Speaker 1>be complex. It's got to be an easy racing game,
<v Speaker 1>and it had some depth to it.
<v Speaker 4>Uh.
<v Speaker 1>I mean, I just I wonder what they could possibly
<v Speaker 1>have here that can justify this. Do you think there's
<v Speaker 1>a chance that this is like it's gonna have a
<v Speaker 1>ton of extra content and a million unlockables and they'll
<v Speaker 1>be teasing that sort of thing. I just really struggle
<v Speaker 1>to figure out how they can justify forty five minutes.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah.
<v Speaker 2>I mean, I think we're just gonna get introduced to
<v Speaker 2>the Riders because originally it was just Ride, so we're
<v Speaker 2>gonna find out who and what else is in this game.
<v Speaker 3>But yeah, I'm like, I'm struggling.
<v Speaker 2>To figure out because I know, like like zach Reai
<v Speaker 2>doesn't miss and Kirby's wonderful, But if I don't know
<v Speaker 2>that people get really excited about Kirby in the way
<v Speaker 2>that we did for like don Well, okay, I'm talking
<v Speaker 2>myself out of this right now, Yeah, because I never
<v Speaker 2>get excited for Donkey Kong until the Donkey Kong Bonanza. Well,
<v Speaker 2>the don Cong bananz is just like the best game
<v Speaker 2>on switch to right now, you know, one of the
<v Speaker 2>best games of the year.
<v Speaker 3>So okay, I've talked myself out of it.
<v Speaker 2>I think they're gonna surprise us and we're all gonna
<v Speaker 2>our jaws are gonna be on the floor, and we're
<v Speaker 2>gonna be fired up and excited to play this and
<v Speaker 2>we won't be able to wait a second more.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, I mean, like at this point, there's so much
<v Speaker 1>Kirby stuff for them to draw on. Kirby's uh, Kirby
<v Speaker 1>in the Forgotten Land was excellent. You know, if they're
<v Speaker 1>going to be like, we're tying in all this stuff
<v Speaker 1>and making it feel like this central location that fan
<v Speaker 1>Kirby fans can go to and experience all these awesome
<v Speaker 1>things from the series. I mean, and I could see
<v Speaker 1>Sakari being the kind of person that would want to
<v Speaker 1>do that for Kirby. He loves Kirby so much. It's
<v Speaker 1>like his number one him wanting to like, you know, do.
<v Speaker 4>Right by the character.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, I could see all that, And then I could
<v Speaker 1>also see Nintendo being like, this is you're our number one, Sakara.
<v Speaker 1>We need to make sure that you're you stick around
<v Speaker 1>and are happy, so you make us another Smash Brothers
<v Speaker 1>in within the next ten years. And so yeah, you
<v Speaker 1>have like a little bit of free reign and this
<v Speaker 1>is important to you, that it's important to us and
<v Speaker 1>That's the sense I get from, like, what is happening here?
<v Speaker 1>Happening here a little bit. Not that Nintendo doesn't believe
<v Speaker 1>in Kirby air Riders. I'm sure they do, but it's
<v Speaker 1>I think this might be more about like like kind
<v Speaker 1>of keeping him happy and giving him what he wants.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, I mean they believe the Drag Extra Drive so exactly.
<v Speaker 1>Really, Yeah, I came around on Drag X Drive while
<v Speaker 1>I was playing it, and then every second between the
<v Speaker 1>gameplay was misery. It's so bad. It's such a bad
<v Speaker 1>game to actually do anything in. It just throws you,
<v Speaker 1>like even when you're in there with friends, you go
<v Speaker 1>into these these these rooms and it just throws you
<v Speaker 1>in randomly, and sometimes you'll be on a team with
<v Speaker 1>your friends, and sometimes you won't be.
<v Speaker 4>It's really, it's so bad. Okay.
<v Speaker 1>So the other side of this seth is that, Okay,
<v Speaker 1>we're getting this Kirby Air Riders direct tomorrow forty five minutes,
<v Speaker 1>and then usually we get a longer big you know,
<v Speaker 1>big direct in September. That's probably still gonna happen, right,
<v Speaker 1>do you think, Yeah?
<v Speaker 3>Oh yeah, for sure.
<v Speaker 2>I mean they still have to really hype up their
<v Speaker 2>fall lineup, and like, right now, all we know for sure,
<v Speaker 2>like the big game is Pokemon, which kind of like
<v Speaker 2>what else do they need anyway? But Prime four is
<v Speaker 2>going to be playable at Games Time, which is going
<v Speaker 2>on right now, so we need to know like when
<v Speaker 2>can we play Prime four? And then they're gonna not
<v Speaker 2>announce anything for Holiday night again, it's always so fun.
<v Speaker 1>Yep, Listen, they love torturing people and they're just gonna
<v Speaker 1>keep doing it. Yeah, I think that's right. So the
<v Speaker 1>since I get from all of this is that Kirby
<v Speaker 1>is the next thing out from them, and that's why
<v Speaker 1>this direct is happening now. It could be like as
<v Speaker 1>as early as September. I guess we don't have a
<v Speaker 1>date on it still, but it could be very soon
<v Speaker 1>after September. So they don't want to wait until the
<v Speaker 1>September direct to really start talking about that game. And
<v Speaker 1>then you're right, there's still a ton of stuff coming
<v Speaker 1>out this holiday, whether that's Age of Imprisonment, the Muso
<v Speaker 1>game or Pokemon or Metroight. Prime four obviously also needs
<v Speaker 1>a date, So yeah, they have some dates they got
<v Speaker 1>to nil down separate from that, but they probably want
<v Speaker 1>to like spread these things out a little bit.
<v Speaker 4>So yeah, I'm with you.
<v Speaker 1>I think we get this and we still get that
<v Speaker 1>standard direct in September because they like to sell games
<v Speaker 1>during the holiday.
<v Speaker 4>It turns out Nintendo.
<v Speaker 3>Pretty good then, yeah, they're super good at it.
<v Speaker 4>I think.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, like, switch To is the gift, like the holiday thing.
<v Speaker 2>It's going to be, like whatever, the toy of the
<v Speaker 2>of the year that everyone needs to get.
<v Speaker 3>And thankfully it's actually not that difficult to get, which
<v Speaker 3>is surprising.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, it's I still haven't seen it myself in a store,
<v Speaker 1>but I've started hearing from more people that they are
<v Speaker 1>occasionally seeing it sitting in a target and that's okay,
<v Speaker 1>that's pretty wild. Yeah, how are you feeling about the
<v Speaker 1>switch to overall? Like, yeah, it's available, it's going to
<v Speaker 1>be the hot toy, but like, how are you feeling
<v Speaker 1>about it?
<v Speaker 2>I'm such a frigging lifelong Nintendo fanboy, Like I still
<v Speaker 2>talk about how much how much the WU was underappreciated,
<v Speaker 2>so like, I mean, my opinion on the matter of
<v Speaker 2>Nintendo should probably not be taken too seriously.
<v Speaker 3>But I mean, they did it. They did exactly what
<v Speaker 3>they set out to do.
<v Speaker 2>They made a better switch and they didn't make it confusing,
<v Speaker 2>and they just you know, the big sort of selling
<v Speaker 2>point is it's just more switch. It's just better graphics
<v Speaker 2>one hundred and twenty her, it's refresh rate on.
<v Speaker 3>The handheld screen. Your old games are gonna.
<v Speaker 2>Look better for free sometimes not for other ones, which
<v Speaker 2>is a little confusing and muddling, but switch to personally,
<v Speaker 2>I love it. I probably will never play my original
<v Speaker 2>switch again. I thought about like taking it with me
<v Speaker 2>when I was traveling my ol ed and I was like, gross.
<v Speaker 4>That's yeah grody.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, it's very It's like reminding me of you know,
<v Speaker 2>things that I regret now. So as soon as I
<v Speaker 2>got like a PlayStation one, the Supernintendo went to like
<v Speaker 2>my friend's eight year old daughter, like all my games,
<v Speaker 2>all my I was like, you could have this piece
<v Speaker 2>of crap junk. And now I'm doing it again, but
<v Speaker 2>this time I'm not giving away my switch, oh, Ed,
<v Speaker 2>I'm just gonna ride on. I mean, I'm also I
<v Speaker 2>don't know if you can see behind me, I kind
<v Speaker 2>of obsessively collect.
<v Speaker 1>I haven't noticed it, did not notice. Yeah, there's multiple CRTs.
<v Speaker 1>That's something I recognized as a personal family as well.
<v Speaker 4>I got freaking this basement right now.
<v Speaker 1>I'm like, I'm trying to get I have won by
<v Speaker 1>the stairs, but like, I'll get rid of this one.
<v Speaker 1>I haven't moved it upstairs yet. They're heavy, They're very
<v Speaker 1>very heavy. Yeah, I'm with you. I'm enjoying the switch
<v Speaker 1>to quite a bit. It's what I wanted it to be.
<v Speaker 1>And now it's all about, hey, deliver the games. And
<v Speaker 1>Donkey Kong was so good. It's like, Okay, They're going
<v Speaker 1>to keep delivering the games and I'll be pretty happy
<v Speaker 1>with that. All right, So we'll try to talk over
<v Speaker 1>this direct tomorrow here on Giant Bomb. Everybody. The problem
<v Speaker 1>is like, now there's that, then we have the Bomb cast,
<v Speaker 1>and then Opening Night Live is in the afternoon, so
<v Speaker 1>oh damn. Might have to try to fit everything and
<v Speaker 1>we'll see what we can do. Okay, let's head to
<v Speaker 1>the next story. Fair Games is now the latest live
<v Speaker 1>service shooter cancellation. If Michael Pactor.
<v Speaker 4>Is to be believed.
<v Speaker 1>Updated he isn't to be believed, But let's just go
<v Speaker 1>over this because let's talk about some fair Game stuff.
<v Speaker 1>This is from Quentin O'Connor basically on Michael PACTOR's show
<v Speaker 1>pactor factor. I think he was talking about the live
<v Speaker 1>service strategy over at Sony and was listing some things
<v Speaker 1>that had happened, and he was like getting around to
<v Speaker 1>Jade Raymond leaving, and then he followed that up with
<v Speaker 1>and fair Games was canceled, And it was clear like
<v Speaker 1>he was just kind of following a train of thought
<v Speaker 1>and it wasn't really canceled, and he clarified that later
<v Speaker 1>the updated said no, I don't know if it's been canceled,
<v Speaker 1>But Seth, I guess my question to you is, do
<v Speaker 1>you think that game's gonna get canceled?
<v Speaker 3>Well, here's the thing.
<v Speaker 2>Obviously, I plugged into the video games sort of sphere.
<v Speaker 2>I don't know anything about fair Games, yes at all.
<v Speaker 1>So do you remember do you remember like seeing it ever?
<v Speaker 1>Because it was like okay. So this was at the
<v Speaker 1>same time that they were talking about Concord. This was
<v Speaker 1>the other one from Jade Raymond's studio that she started up,
<v Speaker 1>and then PlayStation I think acquired that studio and they
<v Speaker 1>were excited about it, and then recently Jade Raymond left,
<v Speaker 1>the company was let go. I think the leadership kind
<v Speaker 1>of there was a huge mix up of leadership on
<v Speaker 1>the game, and you know, I'll say the way I
<v Speaker 1>understand it is this is a game that had they
<v Speaker 1>not announced it and made a big deal about it,
<v Speaker 1>it probably would have been canceled. And the only maybe
<v Speaker 1>not the only reason, but what maybe one of the
<v Speaker 1>reasons it hasn't been canceled. And again, this is the
<v Speaker 1>sense I get from kind of sniffing around it. I
<v Speaker 1>don't know for sure, is that you know, like they
<v Speaker 1>aren't sure what to do with the game. They're going
<v Speaker 1>to have to rework it, and they just might not
<v Speaker 1>have the appetite to do that. But at the same time,
<v Speaker 1>they've already had bad pr from delaying Destiny to or
<v Speaker 1>not a marathon. They delayed Marathon and then they also
<v Speaker 1>had to cancel Concord two weeks after it came out,
<v Speaker 1>So they're just like trying to avoid another bad headline.
<v Speaker 1>But that means they're just going to cancel it eventually.
<v Speaker 4>I don't know.
<v Speaker 1>Again, I'm not sure. I just don't think we're ever
<v Speaker 1>going to see fair games. Is I guess what my
<v Speaker 1>gut says to me when I kind of put all
<v Speaker 1>that context out there, set to you, like, I don't
<v Speaker 1>think there's any reason to believe anything different, but do you?
<v Speaker 2>Oh no, I think what the move is is instead
<v Speaker 2>of they don't cancel it, but they put it on
<v Speaker 2>in definite hole, which is they.
<v Speaker 4>Will say way doing it right? Yeah.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, But the whole sort of live game thing that
<v Speaker 2>Sony has not been doing great with, it feels very
<v Speaker 2>much like all these decisions were made, and it have
<v Speaker 2>to be because it takes so long to develop games now,
<v Speaker 2>but these were all made like twenty eighteen, and then
<v Speaker 2>the sort of live service. I don't know if I
<v Speaker 2>would say came and went, but it's not what everybody
<v Speaker 2>is acting.
<v Speaker 4>It wasn't the gold mine that everyone thought it was, right.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, it doesn't lead to mus as right, and they
<v Speaker 3>won't hit there. I can't think of any other acronyms.
<v Speaker 3>But yeah, so I don't know. Is that like that
<v Speaker 3>bubble BAF.
<v Speaker 2>Game it's still going on there? The like Splatoon, like
<v Speaker 2>shooter that's Sony.
<v Speaker 1>Oh oh yeah, the Square Enix is yeah. God, what
<v Speaker 1>was that called? Soapie shooters? Fhatem stars, Thank you show stars.
<v Speaker 1>Oh yeah, I think it's still a good I think
<v Speaker 1>it's still a going concern. I mean, I don't know
<v Speaker 1>if anyone's playing it, but that's not one that like, okay,
<v Speaker 1>but that was a Square Inox thing as well, so yeah,
<v Speaker 1>that's right. It was always kind of like them being like,
<v Speaker 1>you know, we'll try this and see what happens. Is
<v Speaker 1>Square who knows there's anyone even in charge of Square Innox.
<v Speaker 4>But for for PlayStation, like they they said.
<v Speaker 1>In their last earnings call their CFO, I believe that
<v Speaker 1>they want to keep doing live service stuff. They want
<v Speaker 1>to figure this out. Yeah, they've had some stakes, but
<v Speaker 1>they learned from those and they still have had successes,
<v Speaker 1>and they late listed stuff like MLB the show and
<v Speaker 1>oh yeahful, yes, right, it's right. They do have success
<v Speaker 1>in this space. Some of it's like, yeah, that's like
<v Speaker 1>you're the baseball game. So when you do your the thing,
<v Speaker 1>there's also a roadmap there for you to do ultimate Team.
<v Speaker 1>That's the thing that can really work and make a
<v Speaker 1>lot of money. So yeah, that that has worked. And
<v Speaker 1>then when you've tried other stuff, okay, yeah, then hell
<v Speaker 1>divers too, that's worked as well, but are.
<v Speaker 4>You going to be able to replicate that?
<v Speaker 1>So they have a handful of successes, and then they said,
<v Speaker 1>when we look at the money, a lot of our
<v Speaker 1>money has just suddenly come from live service games, so
<v Speaker 1>we like that, we want to keep doing it.
<v Speaker 4>I just I mean, I don't know.
<v Speaker 1>I just feel like chasing the live service trend with
<v Speaker 1>the same genres of like there was going to be
<v Speaker 1>the concord shooter and the fair game shooter and the
<v Speaker 1>marathon shooter. It felt like that was never a great
<v Speaker 1>idea and now it feels like that that has been
<v Speaker 1>borne out. It maybe wasn't, but they also seem too
<v Speaker 1>far in to really abandon any of it. So if
<v Speaker 1>you're Sony, what do you think and seth, Oh.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, that's sun cost fallacy.
<v Speaker 4>It'll get you.
<v Speaker 2>It's crazy to me that giant corporations will do that,
<v Speaker 2>but they do it and it doesn't work out for them.
<v Speaker 2>But yeah, it's I don't I mean, obviously I don't
<v Speaker 2>have an answer that I.
<v Speaker 3>Would say, oh, this will fix it for you in
<v Speaker 3>a way, But you're.
<v Speaker 2>Right, like just kind of doing the same stuff that
<v Speaker 2>everybody's doing, the same genres. It's it's a crowded field
<v Speaker 2>and the stuff that's in there is entrenched and it's
<v Speaker 2>like super popular. But like I had completely forgotten about
<v Speaker 2>MLB the show and that is a super good baseball
<v Speaker 2>game that appeals to people who want to play a.
<v Speaker 3>Baseball game, like it's not gonna it doesn't have mainstream appeal.
<v Speaker 2>Like I love the Boston Red Sox, I will always
<v Speaker 2>will I will always hate the New York Yankees, as
<v Speaker 2>everyone should. But even I don't dip my toes into that.
<v Speaker 2>But there's this like crazy niche audience that is going
<v Speaker 2>to support something like that. Like I have a friend
<v Speaker 2>he plays every MLB show every year and he's always like, oh,
<v Speaker 2>you should play, and do you know whatever, My my
<v Speaker 2>player come up through the minors and get you know, drafted,
<v Speaker 2>and I don't.
<v Speaker 3>But that's I.
<v Speaker 2>Think where Sony should kind of be focusing, Like, oh,
<v Speaker 2>here's a small, niche audience, and I think that's probably
<v Speaker 2>where you'll find the most success long term is to.
<v Speaker 3>Exploit those not exploit but you know what I mean,
<v Speaker 3>like find those opportunities.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah yeah, yeah, Like these people want to throw money
<v Speaker 2>at a baseball game because it's the only one left.
<v Speaker 2>And for a long time, like there really wasn't a
<v Speaker 2>baseball game. I think, you know, EA had triple play
<v Speaker 2>and I don't remember when the last one they put
<v Speaker 2>out was but the show. Maybe I'm misremembered, but I
<v Speaker 2>feel like it wasn't even around for a little while
<v Speaker 2>there and then it came back and it's just been
<v Speaker 2>a really good baseball game ever since.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, the show definitely has it dominates baseball, like that's
<v Speaker 1>that's that's the one baseball I mean, that might be
<v Speaker 1>the only one that's like a full sim that also
<v Speaker 1>has the license. I think that's the case. I can't remember,
<v Speaker 1>but I don't think that's an NFL situation where it's
<v Speaker 1>like the NFL won't do that, won't do a deal
<v Speaker 1>with anyone else. The MLB might, but they're the one
<v Speaker 1>game in town the show. And then there's some smaller
<v Speaker 1>games and really good arcadie style games that have really
<v Speaker 1>popped up.
<v Speaker 4>So you're right, like.
<v Speaker 1>They have an opportunity there that where they can sort
<v Speaker 1>of corner a market, and that has worked for them.
<v Speaker 1>They also Grand Trismos and another one so like okay,
<v Speaker 1>Grand Trismo seven, like that's a live service thing where
<v Speaker 1>it's okay, yeah, the somewhat sim racing thing on console.
<v Speaker 1>You can dominate that. You have the name brand, You're
<v Speaker 1>good to go. You have the name brand and the
<v Speaker 1>sort of prestige to deliver games like.
<v Speaker 4>That, So that makes sense.
<v Speaker 1>The ones that continued to not make sense are fair
<v Speaker 1>Games and or even like at Factions from from naughty Dog.
<v Speaker 1>All all accounts where was that that game was very
<v Speaker 1>fun to play, It was just not thought through in
<v Speaker 1>terms of how they were going to support it. So
<v Speaker 1>Naughty Dog was gonna have to turn into this live
<v Speaker 1>service support studio and this that was a terrifying concept
<v Speaker 1>to them. And even if they did do that, they
<v Speaker 1>were gonna have to like maybe get comfortable with putting
<v Speaker 1>Ronald McDonald and other kinds of silly skins in their game,
<v Speaker 1>and they weren't comfortable with that either. And it's like,
<v Speaker 1>how much are we really thinking through, Like how these
<v Speaker 1>games can even really work in the way that you
<v Speaker 1>need them to and really need them to is such
<v Speaker 1>an e leading thing because it's like they're just looking
<v Speaker 1>at Fortnite and be like, we should be making money
<v Speaker 1>like that, and it's just that is not the right
<v Speaker 1>way to be thinking about any of these things. So
<v Speaker 1>we'll see what happens with fair Games. I'm wondering when
<v Speaker 1>we see it again, and if we ever see it again,
<v Speaker 1>I guess on that front. I'll point out I've heard
<v Speaker 1>and this one of like a feel comfortable saying, yeah,
<v Speaker 1>you can go right headlines about this if you want.
<v Speaker 1>There was good they're planning a state of play or
<v Speaker 1>maybe a showcase, but probably a state of play for
<v Speaker 1>the end of September or before the end of September.
<v Speaker 1>So we're gonna hear we're gonna get updates from Sony
<v Speaker 1>here pretty soon. And I don't think fair Games shows
<v Speaker 1>up at that thing. I think they're gonna just focus
<v Speaker 1>on a handful of other stuff. Let's talk about like
<v Speaker 1>what you're expecting from Sony beyond the live service strategy.
<v Speaker 1>Do you feel like they're gonna be able to get
<v Speaker 1>back on track with like delivering the kinds of games
<v Speaker 1>that people mostly bought a PS five to play.
<v Speaker 3>I think.
<v Speaker 2>I think they've moved on and they just haven't said
<v Speaker 2>anything yet. It's kind of it's another case where like
<v Speaker 2>a lot of these games were developed and then the
<v Speaker 2>pandemic they were in development, then the pandemic hit and
<v Speaker 2>everything got screwed up, and now like I feel like
<v Speaker 2>they've never fully recovered. Like you know, sometimes when you're running,
<v Speaker 2>when you're a kid and you run too fast and
<v Speaker 2>your legs just start going crazy, doing whatever you can
<v Speaker 2>to keep from falling down. I feel like they're in
<v Speaker 2>the the beginnings of that. Oh our legs are going.
<v Speaker 3>Crazy, and they might be able to catch it.
<v Speaker 2>I mean it's it's sony like they can they can
<v Speaker 2>do it. I mean they they're the most successful like
<v Speaker 2>console out there right now, other than the Switch obviously,
<v Speaker 2>but for modern generation powerful OK console.
<v Speaker 3>It's the PS five.
<v Speaker 2>And also, like PlayStation fans, they'll stick by them through
<v Speaker 2>thick and thin. It's like they took marriage vows for
<v Speaker 2>sickness and in health, for better or for worse. So
<v Speaker 2>I think just that alone will carry them as far
<v Speaker 2>as what they're putting out for output. I don't know, man,
<v Speaker 2>they those huge Triple A franchises were such a defining
<v Speaker 2>character stick of like the end of the PlayStation three
<v Speaker 2>and the end of the PlayStation four era. But I
<v Speaker 2>don't know with the development costs, if they pay off
<v Speaker 2>like they used to. But I feel like that's still
<v Speaker 2>where their heart and strategy lies is in these gigantic,
<v Speaker 2>enormous games that can then you know, become HBO television
<v Speaker 2>series and things like that. These prestige games, So yeah,
<v Speaker 2>I think they've changed and turned their attention to whatever
<v Speaker 2>the next generation is, whether that is at PlayStation six
<v Speaker 2>or if that is just making games that run on
<v Speaker 2>you know, everything and anything like what Microsoft is doing.
<v Speaker 2>But a bumber I love, Like, man, I was so
<v Speaker 2>obsessed with my PlayStation one. I was completely over, Like
<v Speaker 2>I went all over the state trying to get a
<v Speaker 2>PlayStation two when it came out, and then I kind
<v Speaker 2>of fell off. I'd missed the PlayStation three because it
<v Speaker 2>was more money than I could afford at the time.
<v Speaker 2>Bought a three sixty and fell in love. And I
<v Speaker 2>would love to get back to that sort of that
<v Speaker 2>core Sony PlayStation energy that I used to feel. The
<v Speaker 2>closest I've come actually is Grand There's Most seven that
<v Speaker 2>still has.
<v Speaker 4>That old yeah, and.
<v Speaker 2>It's yeah, it's a Japanese developed game, and it still
<v Speaker 2>has that sort of old PlayStation feel to it, even
<v Speaker 2>though you do have to spend some money to get
<v Speaker 2>all the cool cars that you want.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, but it's like you're right that it still feels
<v Speaker 1>like it's made by that team because it was.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah.
<v Speaker 1>I think that like for people's expectations for Sony, I
<v Speaker 1>think it's probably stick with status quo with the hopes
<v Speaker 1>that you know, Wolverine gets announced or reintroduced here again
<v Speaker 1>at some point. I wouldn't expect that for the direct
<v Speaker 1>or for the state of play that would be coming
<v Speaker 1>in September.
<v Speaker 4>Feels like still too early for that.
<v Speaker 1>And even like, really some games that are coming out
<v Speaker 1>next year from Sony that a spin off God of
<v Speaker 1>War game, the one that's going to be like a Metroidvana,
<v Speaker 1>that one might show up at this state of play,
<v Speaker 1>but even that it might be too early. So I
<v Speaker 1>really don't know what they would have in here other
<v Speaker 1>than I guess they can talk up it goes to
<v Speaker 1>Yota one more time. That game is it's on October,
<v Speaker 1>I believe. I think that's October. So yeah, that's probably
<v Speaker 1>what they do there. And then they have some partner stuff,
<v Speaker 1>and they probably have a handful of games that are
<v Speaker 1>from partners that are like a bigger in terms of
<v Speaker 1>the size of the of the deal, bigger in scope,
<v Speaker 1>something maybe more akin to like what has happened with
<v Speaker 1>desk Stranding, where like we're gonna work with the partner
<v Speaker 1>and get something exclusive for a little bit. They might
<v Speaker 1>do a couple of those just to fill things out.
<v Speaker 1>So we're still kind of waiting for them to reload
<v Speaker 1>a lot of their partners. But at any moment, that
<v Speaker 1>dam is gonna break and Corey Barlo will be back
<v Speaker 1>with his games, and a bunch of others will be
<v Speaker 1>back with their games. But maybe it's still too early.
<v Speaker 1>So you know, stay to play, get excited for it,
<v Speaker 1>or don't. They can always be a crapshoot. All right,
<v Speaker 1>we will have plenty of headlines to get back to.
<v Speaker 1>We're gonna take a quick quick break. We'll be right
<v Speaker 1>back after this. You want to skip out on these,

<v Speaker 1>All right, it's game mes Mornings. I'm Jeff Grubb. That's
<v Speaker 1>Seth Macy. We're getting back into the headlines with Shinmu
<v Speaker 1>three Enhanced announced for PS five Xbox Series, Nintendo and PC.
<v Speaker 1>This comes from Salermano at Kamatsu publisher in In Games
<v Speaker 1>and developer Ye'senet have announced Shinmu three Enhanced for PlayStation
<v Speaker 1>five Xbox Series, Nintendo and PC. Release date was not announced.
<v Speaker 1>Users who owned the original Shinmu three for PlayStation four
<v Speaker 1>or PC will be offered an upgrade path. Uh Shinmo
<v Speaker 1>three back. This was never a great game. Did you
<v Speaker 1>ever play Shinmu three?
<v Speaker 3>No? I did not.
<v Speaker 2>I completely missed the bus on shin MoU three because
<v Speaker 2>I didn't play shen MoU one or two because I
<v Speaker 2>didn't have a dreamcast.
<v Speaker 1>So yeah, my brother was a huge fan, though he's
<v Speaker 1>like that, uh I played Shinmu at the time. I
<v Speaker 1>never loved shin Mu, so maybe I'm not a great
<v Speaker 1>judge of Shenmu three. But yeah, Shinmu three, it did
<v Speaker 1>seem to disappoint even the fans, But you know, people
<v Speaker 1>still want that that story completed. Should people take this
<v Speaker 1>as any hope that shen MoU is really back and
<v Speaker 1>this might one day lead to a shin Mu four
<v Speaker 1>and eventually a shin Mu nine.
<v Speaker 2>Well, I mean, why not just let your heart follow
<v Speaker 2>your heart? Just whatever imagination really, your imagination run wild.
<v Speaker 2>If you want to have a little glimmer of hope
<v Speaker 2>that Shenmu is coming back, and you know you're looking
<v Speaker 2>at your y two K compliant dreamcast it windows two
<v Speaker 2>thousand on it.
<v Speaker 3>I say go for it.
<v Speaker 2>I say let your spirit fly chase that Shenmu dream.
<v Speaker 3>It'll come back.
<v Speaker 2>You can clip your toenails and do all the fun
<v Speaker 2>things that Shenmu is known for.
<v Speaker 1>The game is an enhanced version of Shenmu three, featuring
<v Speaker 1>improved visuals, performance, and quality of life updates. Key enhancements
<v Speaker 1>including sharp or four K textures, d l SS and
<v Speaker 1>FSR support, increased NPC density, and in optional Classic camera
<v Speaker 1>mode gameplay tweeks offer adjustable stamina health, health restoration before fights,
<v Speaker 1>and reduced money barriers. The game also includes includes improved
<v Speaker 1>interactions like cutscene skips and expanded QT timing windows, along
<v Speaker 1>with streamlined menus. All major changes can be toggled to
<v Speaker 1>allow players to preserve the original experience if you want. Yeah,
<v Speaker 1>this feels just like, hey, let's do more with shin Mu.
<v Speaker 1>This is this is a series that people do care about,
<v Speaker 1>But I don't know if it ever leads to to
<v Speaker 1>Shinmu for I, Hey, you know what, I hope, so
<v Speaker 1>those people deserve some nice things in their life. Maybe
<v Speaker 1>it'll happen with them with this eventually.
<v Speaker 3>I mean I think it's probably more likely.
<v Speaker 2>It's you know, every time anything remotely related to the
<v Speaker 2>Mother franchise, like anywhere.
<v Speaker 3>People are like, that's it, it's coming.
<v Speaker 1>No, it's not that it just feels like Nintendo's never
<v Speaker 1>gonna actually do it. I know that there's like this
<v Speaker 1>idea that there's a break glass in case of emergency
<v Speaker 1>situation where Nintendo will finally release smother. I don't even
<v Speaker 1>know if that exists. I'm like slowly playing through Mother
<v Speaker 1>III on one of those little Chinese handhelds I got.
<v Speaker 1>It's very good. People should get a chance to play it.
<v Speaker 1>That fan translations out there and everyone should top on. Okay,
<v Speaker 1>let's keep moving here. Skate developer says its soundtrack will
<v Speaker 1>change with each new season of content. This is from
<v Speaker 1>Chris Scullion at VGC. Yeah, I thought this is an
<v Speaker 1>interesting way of doing things. The developer of Skate has
<v Speaker 1>shed more light on the game's live service content, including
<v Speaker 1>the addition of a constantly updating soundtrack. The fourth game
<v Speaker 1>in the Skate series is set to release in early
<v Speaker 1>Access by the end of summer, and developer Full Circle
<v Speaker 1>says the first season will start shortly after this. Yes,
<v Speaker 1>Skate will have seasons and seasonal content, the studio wrote
<v Speaker 1>in the latest edition on of its official blog, The Grind. Yeah,
<v Speaker 1>the world game features in game events, and even the
<v Speaker 1>soundtrack will be updated to celebrate each new season. According
<v Speaker 1>to Full Circle, each season in Skate will last around
<v Speaker 1>three months, with each season adding new cosmetics and customization items,
<v Speaker 1>more music, and more to do. So it sounds like
<v Speaker 1>more music will be added, not necessarily that they'll swap
<v Speaker 1>out the entire soundtrack, although they have to. This is
<v Speaker 1>a good way of doing things, like one of the
<v Speaker 1>problems with any sort of game that has real world.
<v Speaker 4>Music, actual music from artists.
<v Speaker 1>Is it always seems like those licenses come with an
<v Speaker 1>expiration date where eventually they just can't be in the
<v Speaker 1>game anymore, or if they are, they you're going to
<v Speaker 1>cost the studio a ton more money. So sort of
<v Speaker 1>having a living game where you can swap music in
<v Speaker 1>and out is maybe a pretty good solution for this
<v Speaker 1>game that I get the sense from EA. They don't
<v Speaker 1>want to cost too much, like they're happy to that,
<v Speaker 1>they're happy they're doing Skate, they're happy to serve that
<v Speaker 1>audience as long as the budget remains sort of reasonable.
<v Speaker 1>And you know, I think that's fair because otherwise we
<v Speaker 1>just don't get a game like this.
<v Speaker 4>So if that.
<v Speaker 1>Means okay, you know, we keep the soundtrack fresh with
<v Speaker 1>new music and then some other tracks might fall off.
<v Speaker 1>I can live with that. Does that sound like a
<v Speaker 1>decent idea to you, seth.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, I think that's the way to do it this,
<v Speaker 2>you know, with a new game, the pro Skater three
<v Speaker 2>and four not having hardly any of the songs was
<v Speaker 2>a huge disappointment.
<v Speaker 3>I know Tony Hawk said that he just wanted people
<v Speaker 3>to find new music.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, but we know which sure, yeah, yeah.
<v Speaker 2>We know. But I mean, on the other hand, if
<v Speaker 2>they are cycling through that it is it's almost certainly
<v Speaker 2>just a licensing nightmare to have them all in this game,
<v Speaker 2>like this live service game forever.
<v Speaker 3>So they just were like, hey, it's not a not a.
<v Speaker 2>Bug, guys, it's a feature. You're gonna get some new
<v Speaker 2>music and it's gonna be rad. I mean, whatever it takes.
<v Speaker 2>I know, people like love the Skate franchise. I respect
<v Speaker 2>the Skate franchise, but I was more of a not
<v Speaker 2>even more I was one hundred percent of Tony Hawk
<v Speaker 2>pro Skater deed like, so, yeah, I guess it's fun.
<v Speaker 3>It's fine.
<v Speaker 2>Whatever happened to being able to like use Spotify on
<v Speaker 2>your consoles is that? Yeah, the thing that doesn't exist anymore,
<v Speaker 2>Like I.
<v Speaker 1>Think it does still work, but it's just not as seamless,
<v Speaker 1>like even like just like having.
<v Speaker 4>A USB stick with your music or whatever.
<v Speaker 3>I remember dodged for cut.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, you could just like put your music on like
<v Speaker 1>Xbox through sixty and replace the soundtrack of any game.
<v Speaker 4>That was such a cool thing. It was.
<v Speaker 1>I remember on Xbox One, Like early on Xbox One,
<v Speaker 1>they had the like basically the Windows Store with all
<v Speaker 1>the apps. So I would like download this podcast app
<v Speaker 1>and it would like play podcasts on my Xbox One,
<v Speaker 1>and that would replace the soundtrack for games. And it
<v Speaker 1>was like that was pretty neat to actually do. I
<v Speaker 1>don't know if stuff like that still works, You're right,
<v Speaker 1>although that is one thing that Tony Hawk said. He's like, hey,
<v Speaker 1>if you want the original songs from three and four
<v Speaker 1>while you're playing, just go turn them on on Spotify
<v Speaker 1>and listen to them while you're playing. Yeah, And it's like, yeah,
<v Speaker 1>that's I get that at this point where it's like
<v Speaker 1>this stuff is so easily accessible in so many places
<v Speaker 1>that maybe it's not as precious to have every song
<v Speaker 1>in there that I that I, you know, once wanted
<v Speaker 1>in there.
<v Speaker 2>It changes the way that it like the association to
<v Speaker 2>certain songs with the Tony Hawk franchise is so deeply
<v Speaker 2>embedded in so strong, it does change the game. And
<v Speaker 2>when I do get one of those songs that I recognize,
<v Speaker 2>I'm like, oh, yeah, here we go.
<v Speaker 3>Now now we're back, baby.
<v Speaker 4>I was.
<v Speaker 1>I was just like to myself, singing if you Must
<v Speaker 1>by Dell, and.
<v Speaker 3>That was the one that I had.
<v Speaker 4>Of course, that's that crazy.
<v Speaker 1>That one, That one's in there thankfully. Yeah, so that
<v Speaker 1>and it had to be like that one was like
<v Speaker 1>actually a requirement for the game, and they understood that.
<v Speaker 1>But I was singing it to myself and even my wife,
<v Speaker 1>who has played games for sure, but she hasn't played
<v Speaker 1>a Tony Hawk in forever.
<v Speaker 4>She's like, is that from Tony Hawk.
<v Speaker 1>I'm like, yeah, that's right, that's you know, it's from
<v Speaker 1>Tony Hawk. That's honestly where probably the vast majority of
<v Speaker 1>people know it from. Yeah, uh okay. I I am
<v Speaker 1>looking forward to Skate. I'm a Tony Hawk guy as well,
<v Speaker 1>like one percent of Tony Hawk guy. I've always because
<v Speaker 1>of the respect for Skate, I need to give it
<v Speaker 1>like a real chance. I played it once a long
<v Speaker 1>time ago, maybe on Xbox three. Sixty and just couldn't
<v Speaker 1>really it just didn't do anything for me. And now
<v Speaker 1>I'm like, I'm in a different place where it's like
<v Speaker 1>I kind of want to see the analog stick movement
<v Speaker 1>of those games and really get into that. I'm gonna
<v Speaker 1>check this game out. I also like the idea of
<v Speaker 1>the structure of this new skate of go into the city,
<v Speaker 1>hang out online with your friends, build some like courses
<v Speaker 1>for each other, and goof off and maybe then and
<v Speaker 1>maybe then go right off and try to find some
<v Speaker 1>objectives and do stuff on your own, and then come
<v Speaker 1>back later and hang out with your friends some more.
<v Speaker 1>I think that's a good idea for a skate game.
<v Speaker 1>We'll see if they're going to be able to pull
<v Speaker 1>it off and actually make it something that people want
<v Speaker 1>to experience.
<v Speaker 3>I certainly hope.
<v Speaker 2>So, like I said, like people who are skate fans
<v Speaker 2>are crazy skate fans, yeah.
<v Speaker 3>And yeah, I'm just not one of them.
<v Speaker 2>I love that the analog sort of sticks sort of
<v Speaker 2>mimic the foot movements that you have to make, and
<v Speaker 2>I really do respect that.
<v Speaker 3>But at the same time, maybe maybe learn fingerboarding. I mean,
<v Speaker 3>that's something to do any place any times.
<v Speaker 4>At the God.
<v Speaker 1>There was that that kind of punk rock video game
<v Speaker 1>that I can't remember the name of now at a
<v Speaker 1>summer game fest and they had the set all decorated
<v Speaker 1>with like ninety stuff, including like tech decks, and I
<v Speaker 1>got a tech deck and I got a kickflip and
<v Speaker 1>did it in there in our travelog video and that
<v Speaker 1>was so like, hell yeah, hell yeah, got the show off.
<v Speaker 3>Oh was it that game that you're like a corporate
<v Speaker 3>like stooge and you have to.
<v Speaker 1>It's the game where you're you're the a teenager who's
<v Speaker 1>about to like leave your friends mixtape, thank you chat mixtape.
<v Speaker 4>Yes, Oh yeah, yeah, I guess Yeah, it looks awesome.
<v Speaker 1>Uh okay, let's keep going here. A remake of the
<v Speaker 1>first ray Man game was reportedly canceled in twenty twenty one.
<v Speaker 1>This is from Instant Gaming News. Last last May, we
<v Speaker 1>learned that Ubisoft was working on a new ray Man
<v Speaker 1>game and it is still doing that. I believe it
<v Speaker 1>would be a triple A title that could be very
<v Speaker 1>could very well be a remake. Interestingly enough, such a
<v Speaker 1>project was already canceled once in the past. According to
<v Speaker 1>a former developer at the French publisher A remake of
<v Speaker 1>the first ray Man game was canceled in twenty twenty one.
<v Speaker 1>It was initially called ray Man Forever, then the story
<v Speaker 1>of Raymond ray Man. I'm saying, Raymond, while this project
<v Speaker 1>goes unfortunately not to see the light of day, Raymon
<v Speaker 1>is nevertheless expected to make a comeback soon.
<v Speaker 4>So yeah, I know, I have the headline of here
<v Speaker 4>says Raymn isn't back.
<v Speaker 1>Rayman might still be back. But yeah, they were gonna
<v Speaker 1>do this once already, I guess really said. The reason
<v Speaker 1>I included this is to ask you what would you
<v Speaker 1>do with Raymn? Because I like Raymon, would love to
<v Speaker 1>see more Rayman games. I think they could just keep
<v Speaker 1>doing that, right, I don't know, what do you think?
<v Speaker 3>I would love? Like ray Man Legends.
<v Speaker 2>One of the best platforming games yes time right there
<v Speaker 2>probably like top five, and like everything about it. It
<v Speaker 2>was so charming. Every character was like weird and quirky
<v Speaker 2>and fun. There was not one in the bunch that
<v Speaker 2>was like a dud or felt just like it was
<v Speaker 2>created by committee.
<v Speaker 3>The music was awesome. There were those like levels that
<v Speaker 3>actually were musical or maybe.
<v Speaker 4>I'm no, you're right, yeah, yeah, it's like.
<v Speaker 2>Probably a ten ten platformer for me, and I would
<v Speaker 2>just love to see either that one come back in
<v Speaker 2>four K with like sixty uh.
<v Speaker 3>You know, maybe even like one hundred and twenty hertz,
<v Speaker 3>just like, yeah, very smooth. Oh no, I said, buttery smooth,
<v Speaker 3>buttery smooth.
<v Speaker 4>Thirty frames per second is what we're going to get.
<v Speaker 4>Take that out.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, take that out of Sean edited. But uh yeah,
<v Speaker 3>they're wonderful games, and we.
<v Speaker 2>Don't have anything that's like that anymore. We we have
<v Speaker 2>Nintendo doing platformers. We have Astrobot, which is like a
<v Speaker 2>three D platform But I just want like that ray
<v Speaker 2>Man Legends is so good and if they brought that
<v Speaker 2>back and maybe throw in some new content slap it
<v Speaker 2>on switch to day one purchase for me.
<v Speaker 3>My kids went.
<v Speaker 2>Crazy for that game. We played it together all the time.
<v Speaker 2>I have very fond memories, very good. I think I
<v Speaker 2>had that one for WEU.
<v Speaker 1>So yeah, that is you said, like a ten ten
<v Speaker 1>platform I'm with you. It is the best, like co
<v Speaker 1>cooperative two D platformer, like all the new Super Mario
<v Speaker 1>Brothers ones that had four player. I like those, but
<v Speaker 1>they're chaos and and actually in a lot of circumstances,
<v Speaker 1>not very much fun where ray Man just like figure
<v Speaker 1>all that stuff out. It was fun, and it was
<v Speaker 1>because if it's like floaty of physics and stuff like that,
<v Speaker 1>it enabled it for a wide range of people to
<v Speaker 1>be able to play, and yet he had still found
<v Speaker 1>some challenge for people that knew what they were doing.
<v Speaker 1>So good great games for sure. So I want ray
<v Speaker 1>Man to come back. However he comes back, I don't
<v Speaker 1>necessarily need a remake of the first game.
<v Speaker 4>I know.
<v Speaker 1>I think what they probably should do there is, you know,
<v Speaker 1>go get what is the Digital Eclipse. Let them go
<v Speaker 1>do a classic collection of early ray Man games up
<v Speaker 1>through the three D game and go to town on the
<v Speaker 1>history of that.
<v Speaker 4>That would be sick that. I would love that.
<v Speaker 1>And then let this team that's making a new ray
<v Speaker 1>Man game make something that is the successor to Legends
<v Speaker 1>or I mean, I would take a new three D
<v Speaker 1>game as well if they want to really go for it.
<v Speaker 4>But I don't need that. I would be happy with
<v Speaker 4>the Legends follow up for sure. Yeah.
<v Speaker 2>I mean for me, Raymon is a two D side scroller,
<v Speaker 2>so I yeah, just do that again my money.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, well, we're gonna ready to give you money. You'd
<v Speaker 1>be soft that for months.
<v Speaker 4>You should my money.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah right, I mean I won't even wait two weeks
<v Speaker 2>until it's half priced launch day.
<v Speaker 4>We'll show up for it this time. Okay.
<v Speaker 1>Next story, Roadblocks sued by Louisiana for perpetuating platform where
<v Speaker 1>quote child predators thrive. This is Sir Michael mcwherder at Polygon,
<v Speaker 1>maker of game creation system. Roadblocks is being sued by
<v Speaker 1>the state of Louisiana in an effort to hold the
<v Speaker 1>company quote accountable for the facilitation and distribution of child
<v Speaker 1>sex abuse material and for the sexual exploitation of Louisiana's
<v Speaker 1>minor children. This is it's not just Louisiana. Chris Hansen
<v Speaker 1>made a public statement that he is his team has
<v Speaker 1>been looking into Roadblocks now for months. Uh, and it's
<v Speaker 1>this is I mean, it's overdue.
<v Speaker 4>This needs to happen.
<v Speaker 1>But Roadblocks is being is handling this and maybe the
<v Speaker 1>worst way I could imagine, they are denying. They're they're
<v Speaker 1>they're denying, they're they're saying there's no problem here, look away,
<v Speaker 1>and then they like recently banned one of the people
<v Speaker 1>that has been going on their platform. That does a
<v Speaker 1>vigilante to like find these people that are predators and
<v Speaker 1>expose them. That's who's getting banned from the game, and
<v Speaker 1>then when asked about it, they're like, oh, there's nothing
<v Speaker 1>to see here. Roadblocks is becoming like a little bit
<v Speaker 1>of the face of gaming for a generation of both
<v Speaker 1>kids and parents that like have those kids that are
<v Speaker 1>playing Roadblocks, the idea of not taking this as serious
<v Speaker 1>as possible and not doing everything possible to prevent this
<v Speaker 1>from happening because you're making a lot of money and
<v Speaker 1>maybe maybe you're making more money because there are people
<v Speaker 1>on here spending money because they are predators, and if
<v Speaker 1>you're taking that money, you deserve all the hell that's
<v Speaker 1>coming your way.
<v Speaker 3>Right, Yeah, for sure. It's I mean, I don't.
<v Speaker 6>Even Yeah, it's such a disgusting topic that I the
<v Speaker 6>only thing that I see that other than shutting this down,
<v Speaker 6>the most enjoyable part would be Chris Hansen be like
<v Speaker 6>have a sheet and like.
<v Speaker 2>A little rope Blockers guy and is completely completely exposed.
<v Speaker 2>But yeah, it's I mean, I'd always heard that that's
<v Speaker 2>what was going on, but I didn't really know if
<v Speaker 2>that was a real thing or if that was you know,
<v Speaker 2>like the like a like an eighties satanic panic yep,
<v Speaker 2>where we were like all told that, you know, devil
<v Speaker 2>worshippers were everywhere. But now it sounds like, oh, this
<v Speaker 2>is maybe real. If it had been any other state
<v Speaker 2>than Louisiana, I'd be like, whoa. I mean, Louisiana is
<v Speaker 2>a little little crooked, you know what I mean? They
<v Speaker 2>got all the all them alligators they.
<v Speaker 4>Right there in the government wearing human Yeah.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, so they're just let licking their chops so they
<v Speaker 2>can just have munch time. But no, this is I
<v Speaker 2>don't know, I should not be making jokes. It's disgusting
<v Speaker 2>and horrible and like they are, they're just the statement
<v Speaker 2>you make is like we are looking into these and
<v Speaker 2>we are going to.
<v Speaker 3>Like act with you know, just act.
<v Speaker 2>We're going to do whatever we can and everything in
<v Speaker 2>our power to remove this awful, awful like situation from
<v Speaker 2>our game and we want to regain your trust. And
<v Speaker 2>to just not do that is crazy to me.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, I think it's you know, there was that problem
<v Speaker 1>on YouTube where people were like finding like, oh, any
<v Speaker 1>video featuring children had like creeps in the comments, like
<v Speaker 1>talking to one another and like sharing time stamps and
<v Speaker 1>YouTube like did this big thing? We're like you just
<v Speaker 1>can't comment on these videos anymore. All any video aimed
<v Speaker 1>at kids featuring kids, comments are turned off. And it's like, yeah,
<v Speaker 1>that's an extreme thing, but it's when you think about it,
<v Speaker 1>not that extreme. People are here to watch the bad
<v Speaker 1>just love to watch the videos. And I think there's
<v Speaker 1>the reality is it's probably much worse than we, like
<v Speaker 1>I want to think about most of the time. And
<v Speaker 1>then if all like, when it comes to these companies
<v Speaker 1>trying to like just distract from it, it's okay. I
<v Speaker 1>do think the only thing that they should be saying
<v Speaker 1>in that situation situation is what you said, Seth, We're
<v Speaker 1>looking into it, We're doing more. Here's what we have done,
<v Speaker 1>which is what Roadblocks is said, like we have parental
<v Speaker 1>controls and all these things, and we've introduced some other
<v Speaker 1>safety features. Fine, but then you don't say and that's enough.
<v Speaker 1>We're like, and we're doing more. This is a never
<v Speaker 1>ceasing battle. We're always going to find new ways of
<v Speaker 1>dealing with any problems like this at all. And if
<v Speaker 1>they want to come out and say Roadblocks is not
<v Speaker 1>an especially bad case compared to anything else, prove that, like,
<v Speaker 1>come out and show us that that's the case right now,
<v Speaker 1>it just seems like you're trying to hide something because
<v Speaker 1>you're making so much money and you don't want to
<v Speaker 1>turn off that spigot. And that's very frustrating. All right,
<v Speaker 1>last couple of stories here. There's a rumor that Call
<v Speaker 1>of Duty Blacks Black Ops seven's final campaign mission is
<v Speaker 1>going to be a multiplayer extraction experience. This from Alex Hopley,
<v Speaker 1>a game reactor. Yes, so this is from I think
<v Speaker 1>that they're inside gaming had the original story here, Black
<v Speaker 1>Op seven could be getting a buck wild with its
<v Speaker 1>campaign finale, as new rumors point to the last mission
<v Speaker 1>not just being a big cinematic showdown for you and
<v Speaker 1>your co op partners, but a massive thirty two player
<v Speaker 1>extraction mission.
<v Speaker 3>Oh whoa.
<v Speaker 4>It's a very strange thing.
<v Speaker 1>But it's like, you know, they probably do want to
<v Speaker 1>like try up I try out some other ideas and
<v Speaker 1>maybe even like introduce people to something like, hey, here's
<v Speaker 1>a new online multiplayer game mode that we're trying to
<v Speaker 1>go back to. They've done extraction before. I don't know,
<v Speaker 1>does this sound like something that's appealing to you. I'm
<v Speaker 1>definitely like, you know, what, get weird with your single
<v Speaker 1>player campaigns. I kind of want to see what that's like.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah.
<v Speaker 2>I have reviewed the last few multiplayer sides of Call
<v Speaker 2>of Duty, but I have I don't really play the
<v Speaker 2>campaign at all. Even when people are like, oh dude,
<v Speaker 2>it's so sick, it's so fun, I still just like, ah,
<v Speaker 2>but I'd rather just you know, a multiplayer constantly, so
<v Speaker 2>they if they do do something that's new and exciting
<v Speaker 2>and a little twist, especially with thirty two.
<v Speaker 3>Players, it sounds awesome.
<v Speaker 2>Actually, yeah, I just think like logistically, you're going to
<v Speaker 2>end up with a lot of buttheads and like when
<v Speaker 2>I play online, I either play completely by myself, and
<v Speaker 2>the first thing I do when I install Call of
<v Speaker 2>Duty is I go to the settings and I mute
<v Speaker 2>like everybody else because I don't want to listen to them.
<v Speaker 2>And then it's just like me and the rest of
<v Speaker 2>my friends the b floors in our own like private
<v Speaker 2>discord server, just playing and having a great time.
<v Speaker 3>So I don't know. I don't know.
<v Speaker 2>If it were like a four player extraction, that would
<v Speaker 2>be a lot easier for me to swallow. But thirty
<v Speaker 2>two people, is you get some some real turds out there?
<v Speaker 4>Yeah?
<v Speaker 1>I want to I mean, is it going to be
<v Speaker 1>like a Journey situation where it's like it's just kind
<v Speaker 1>of throwing a bunch of people who happen to be
<v Speaker 1>playing this part of the game in there at the
<v Speaker 1>same time altogether. Or will this be a selectable mode
<v Speaker 1>that people who beat the game can come back to,
<v Speaker 1>sort of like a maybe a from Soft style sort
<v Speaker 1>of thing. I mean, I don't know, it's going to
<v Speaker 1>be weird. And then what is is is this part
<v Speaker 1>of an effort to get another extraction shooter.
<v Speaker 4>Up off the ground from Call of Duty?
<v Speaker 1>I kind of feel like it must be, although maybe
<v Speaker 1>it's them just like testing out some gameplay ideas that
<v Speaker 1>could show up in their other modes, who knows. But
<v Speaker 1>I do think that, hey, if you're gonna be Call
<v Speaker 1>of Duty and you're gonna have these single player campaigns
<v Speaker 1>in every single one of these games, and yeah, I
<v Speaker 1>usually skip them as well, you maybe you should either
<v Speaker 1>treat them as completely throwaway or as playgrounds for experimentation.
<v Speaker 1>And that's what this sounds like. So I'm kind of
<v Speaker 1>like open to this idea and want to see how.
<v Speaker 4>It actually works.
<v Speaker 1>I think it makes me more likely that I will
<v Speaker 1>play this than than before. I probably would have completely
<v Speaker 1>skipped it. Maybe I'll check it out to see this
<v Speaker 1>for myself. Yeah, last story here, Yeah, yeah, for sure.
<v Speaker 4>Last story.
<v Speaker 1>Dragon Ball Sparking zero runs at thirty frames per second
<v Speaker 1>on switch to. The breakdown here is it's on switch
<v Speaker 1>and switch to. It's seven to twenty p when docked
<v Speaker 1>on switch one, an eight to ten p docked on
<v Speaker 1>switch two or I'm not sure, yeah, yeah, yeah, yes, no,
<v Speaker 1>it's eight ten p when docked or portable on switch to.
<v Speaker 1>Right fun resolutions, just picking random numbers out of a hat.
<v Speaker 1>This is maybe notable because it's like, okay, wait, it's
<v Speaker 1>thirty frames per second on both switch one and switch to,
<v Speaker 1>and you're only going to go from seven to twenty
<v Speaker 1>p to eight to ten p on switch to, Like
<v Speaker 1>what's happening here? It sounds like this is maybe a
<v Speaker 1>problem with like unreal engine and the destructibility putting a
<v Speaker 1>ton of a ton of problems onto the CPU. So
<v Speaker 1>the switch to very powerful in terms of its GPU.
<v Speaker 1>Actually surprisingly so, it's CPU is kind of still PS
<v Speaker 1>four level, so it does sound like that might be
<v Speaker 1>the thing holding it back here, although it could also
<v Speaker 1>just be poor optimization. Maybe an update fix is this
<v Speaker 1>in the long run, But apparently, like I was like
<v Speaker 1>looking into it, and fans of this game, we're talking
<v Speaker 1>about the switch To and they were expecting this. They're like, yeah,
<v Speaker 1>this game is really hard on the CPU. We're not
<v Speaker 1>expecting more than thirty frames per second on switch To,
<v Speaker 1>so always a bummer to see like a game like that.
<v Speaker 1>You're like, hey, finally games can run at sixty frames
<v Speaker 1>per second on switch To. If it was on switch one,
<v Speaker 1>It's like, ah, there are still some issues that will
<v Speaker 1>prevent that from happening, or at least make it a
<v Speaker 1>headache to happen, and developers like this will just be like, ah,
<v Speaker 1>thirty frames per second is fine. I guess we talked
<v Speaker 1>a little bit about how you felt. I felt about
<v Speaker 1>the switch To. How do you feel about its power so
<v Speaker 1>far and delivering games and like the quality of playing
<v Speaker 1>games in that experience.
<v Speaker 2>Oh, I don't have any complaints whatsoever.
<v Speaker 3>But I'm also like people get mad.
<v Speaker 2>But I'll sometimes say, like you know, I'll play a
<v Speaker 2>three sixty game sometimes and I'll be like, eh, this
<v Speaker 2>is this was fine.
<v Speaker 3>This is out as good as I as I needed. Obviously,
<v Speaker 3>the place excuse me, the Switch two does way better
<v Speaker 3>than that.
<v Speaker 2>And I think what's gonna end up happening is Nintendo's
<v Speaker 2>just gonna know exactly what their hardware does, and they're
<v Speaker 2>going to be the best looking and the best running games,
<v Speaker 2>and everybody else is just going to kind.
<v Speaker 3>Of be like, well, here, you guys, go, it's eight
<v Speaker 3>ten p.
<v Speaker 2>You know that that is the resolution that doesn't exist
<v Speaker 2>on any monitor that you own in your house. The
<v Speaker 2>thirty frames per second thing is a bummer, But you know,
<v Speaker 2>Cyberpunk showed that if you kind of put your heart
<v Speaker 2>and soul into it, you can make a switch to
<v Speaker 2>game work really well on the switch to that you know,
<v Speaker 2>ran on everything else looking way obviously way better on
<v Speaker 2>like a whatever PC or a PlayStation five.
<v Speaker 3>But yeah, I.
<v Speaker 2>Think third parties are gonna just keep doing this to us,
<v Speaker 2>and Nintendo's just gonna keep making beautiful, wonderful games everyrun
<v Speaker 2>excellent like Donkey Kong.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, I think that's exactly right.
<v Speaker 1>That if the reason most people bought a switch to
<v Speaker 1>probably is to play Nintendo games, and so most people
<v Speaker 1>are not going to be too bothered by this, And
<v Speaker 1>then and a lot of these games will still at
<v Speaker 1>least get parted, so they'll be there if you want
<v Speaker 1>to play them on your switch to and you don't
<v Speaker 1>have something else. So it's like, oh, if you want
<v Speaker 1>to play Sparking zero, maybe you can accept this. I
<v Speaker 1>think thirty frames per second for that game would be
<v Speaker 1>kind of a bum but yeah, I'm not gonna play
<v Speaker 1>a switch do Yeah.
<v Speaker 3>No, Now, this is for people who like, this is
<v Speaker 3>their console.
<v Speaker 2>They're not necessarily like in the video game hobby is
<v Speaker 2>in the way that we are. It's just like a family. Oh,
<v Speaker 2>little Jimmy loves dragon Ball and there's a game that
<v Speaker 2>we could get him for Christmas, and little Jimmy doesn't
<v Speaker 2>know any better, and he'll just play it. And because
<v Speaker 2>he doesn't know that, it runs so much better on
<v Speaker 2>whatever PC, PlayStation five.
<v Speaker 3>So yeah, that's what this is.
<v Speaker 2>And I'm assuming they figure it's going to make money
<v Speaker 2>or they just would have never done the point in.
<v Speaker 4>The first place.
<v Speaker 1>I bet, I bet dragon Ball games just sell fine
<v Speaker 1>on Nintendo platforms. But that audience, Oh there's a lot
<v Speaker 1>of crossover there, all right, that does it for the headlines.
<v Speaker 1>We're going to get to the new pole question. As
<v Speaker 1>a reminder, of course, we don't do Pole questions on
<v Speaker 1>Friday anymore, we do the Bomb twelve. Here's one last
<v Speaker 1>look at that Bomb twelve from last week. The games
<v Speaker 1>that matter to people who are really playing games, will
<v Speaker 1>Donkey Kong Bananza still be number one at the end
<v Speaker 1>of this week?
<v Speaker 4>We'll find out.
<v Speaker 1>On the meantime, we have a new poll question, do
<v Speaker 1>you think fair games will get canceled?
<v Speaker 4>Yes or no?
<v Speaker 1>We'll talk about that on Game mess Mornings here on
<v Speaker 1>Giant Bomb on Wednesday. Speaking of Giant Bomb, we will
<v Speaker 1>have Mitch owning Mondays and so in one way or another.
<v Speaker 1>So I don't think we're gonna be able to do
<v Speaker 1>miss today because Jen is out on assignment and I'm
<v Speaker 1>gonna go get out on assignment as well.
<v Speaker 4>I gotta take my van in to get the air
<v Speaker 4>conditioning fixed. Death.
<v Speaker 1>It's too hot for school to start, and those kids,
<v Speaker 1>those kids got to be in there. I don't want
<v Speaker 1>to be a miserable so I'm gonna take the rest
<v Speaker 1>of the day off. But I think Mitch is planning something,
<v Speaker 1>maybe some Sieve for the afternoon and then next and yes,
<v Speaker 1>I'm like looking forward to watching them play some of
<v Speaker 1>that and then Mega Man tonight, which of course, Seth,
<v Speaker 1>that we all know means Monday evening gaming at Mike's
<v Speaker 1>at night. It's an acronym everybody, that's right, and no
<v Speaker 1>Mega man playing allowed.
<v Speaker 4>He'll be back with some game this evening as well.
<v Speaker 1>In the meantime, I think we will have the rest
<v Speaker 1>of the week as normal. BombCast Tomorrow, we'll try to
<v Speaker 1>out what those talkovers look like, and then Blight Clubs
<v Speaker 1>back on Wednesday. I'm still playing Jurassic Park, Jeff Passer.
<v Speaker 1>It's a hell of a thing, man, It's really interesting.
<v Speaker 1>I'm kind of like learning to love it in a
<v Speaker 1>really really sick way.
<v Speaker 3>So Stockholm syndrome cal Oh.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, like it's like, oh, at least you tried, and
<v Speaker 1>you're doing some interesting stuff. Yeah, plenty of that stuff
<v Speaker 1>for the rest of the week. Looking forward to it.
<v Speaker 1>Thank you everybody for tuning in, Seth. Thank you so
<v Speaker 1>much for hanging out with me today and talk about
<v Speaker 1>video games.
<v Speaker 4>Man, I really appreciate it.
<v Speaker 2>Thank you for having me. It's been awesome. I love
<v Speaker 2>to talk about video games. I made a career out.
<v Speaker 4>Of it, actually, so I'm good thinking.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah that worked out, Yeah, thankfully.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah. We love having you.
<v Speaker 1>I've just love seeing yet stuff and so yeah, we'll
<v Speaker 1>look at you on here more often. This was great, like, yeah,
<v Speaker 1>we'll do it again. Thank you everybody for tuning in
<v Speaker 1>and watching. You're the best audience in gaming. Until next time,
<v Speaker 1>have a good one, take care of yourself, and goodbye.
