<v Speaker 1>in Willow Springs, Missouri, near the Mark Twain National Forest.
<v Speaker 1>He describes seeing a large bipedal creature one night and
<v Speaker 1>the thought of it has never left his mind. Darrel
<v Speaker 1>has also had some strange experiences in Georgia when he
<v Speaker 1>was fishing. He said the activity was very unusual and
<v Speaker 1>he does not think it was due to wildlife or
<v Speaker 1>natural occurrences. Sometimes in life you can't really figure out
<v Speaker 1>what happened, and you just have to believe there are

<v Speaker 1>bigfoot encounter from Willow Springs, Missouri and the state of Georgia. Hey, Daryl,
<v Speaker 1>Welcome to Sasquatch Theory. How are you doing.
<v Speaker 2>Today, I'm doing well. How are you.
<v Speaker 1>I'm doing pretty good. Thank you so much for asking, Daryl,
<v Speaker 1>if you would tell us a little bit about yourself,
<v Speaker 1>kind of where you're from and your bigfoot encounters and
<v Speaker 1>experiences from the very beginning.
<v Speaker 2>Please all right, Well, I'm currently in Southeast Georgia, but
<v Speaker 2>I was born in southern Missouri in the early seventies
<v Speaker 2>and lived there until I was twelve years old. And
<v Speaker 2>originally when I was very young, we lived in a
<v Speaker 2>small town called Kabul, which is in the Ozarks. And
<v Speaker 2>then when I was I guess it was about six
<v Speaker 2>or seven, we moved in with my grandparents in Willow
<v Speaker 2>Springs for a while, my mother and I and we
<v Speaker 2>lived with them until I was twelve years old, when
<v Speaker 2>she remarried and moved to southeast Georgia, and when we
<v Speaker 2>lived there in Willow Springs. Of course, Springs itself is
<v Speaker 2>is just outside the Mark Twain National Forest, and there's
<v Speaker 2>quite a few camping areas there, and one of the
<v Speaker 2>camping areas has a small lake called Knoblet Lake. Very beautiful,
<v Speaker 2>very beautiful natural area there. I don't know if you've
<v Speaker 2>ever been to it or not, but I highly recommended it.
<v Speaker 2>Unless it's changed. It was. It was quite beautiful when
<v Speaker 2>I was going there when I was younger, and it's
<v Speaker 2>a little small dam, and we used to like to
<v Speaker 2>go fishing in the lake or just below the dam
<v Speaker 2>in Noblett Creek itself. And I don't remember the exact year.
<v Speaker 2>I would have been about ten or eleven when this happened.
<v Speaker 2>I my birthday is late in May, and I had
<v Speaker 2>I had just gotten a new dialwa Roden reel, and
<v Speaker 2>I was extremely proud of it because I had broken
<v Speaker 2>my rod and reel the previous summer and I was
<v Speaker 2>really looking forward to going fishing with this. So right
<v Speaker 2>at the end of May I had gotten that. So
<v Speaker 2>this would have been early June. Don't know the exact day,
<v Speaker 2>but roughly early nineteen eighties. And we drove over to
<v Speaker 2>Knoblet Lake and went fishing for the afternoon. And the
<v Speaker 2>drive over there and the drive back, of course, is
<v Speaker 2>through a lot of the Mark Twain National Forest, but
<v Speaker 2>there's some small farms and homesteads and stuff along the way,
<v Speaker 2>especially as you get closer to Willow Springs. And we
<v Speaker 2>drove over there that day and fished, and we were
<v Speaker 2>fishing below the dam and there's some really flat rocks
<v Speaker 2>that are below the dam. And I tell this part
<v Speaker 2>simply simply to say that I had gotten out on
<v Speaker 2>some of these rocks I could cast out a little
<v Speaker 2>bit further into the stream, and my grandparents had gone,
<v Speaker 2>and my mother had gone, and myself and I was
<v Speaker 2>out there doing that and turned around to find a
<v Speaker 2>very large water moccasin coming up on the rock with me.
<v Speaker 2>So my grandmother, who was closest to me, came over
<v Speaker 2>there where they're walking cane and shoot it off. But
<v Speaker 2>this kind of freaked my mother out a little bit,
<v Speaker 2>and she said, you know, it's time to go. And
<v Speaker 2>it was a lot earlier than we would normally leave,
<v Speaker 2>because we normally stayed nearly dark. And so anyway, we
<v Speaker 2>started packing up and decided to leave, and even though
<v Speaker 2>I wasn't ready to go because we were catching fish,
<v Speaker 2>but we got in the car and headed back home.
<v Speaker 2>So normally, riding back from Knotlet Lake to our home
<v Speaker 2>would have been in the dark, but this day it
<v Speaker 2>was still daylight. And although it was getting close to dark,
<v Speaker 2>and we were riding back, and you know, I was
<v Speaker 2>looking at the trees and watching for animals and stuff.
<v Speaker 2>As I often do on the ride, And essentially, as
<v Speaker 2>we got closer to Willis Springs, we kind of come
<v Speaker 2>out of the Mark twenty National Forest and start seeing
<v Speaker 2>some of those small farms and homesteads. And we're driving
<v Speaker 2>and it's right at dusk, and I'm seated behind my
<v Speaker 2>mother who was driving, and my grandparents were on the
<v Speaker 2>passenger side of the car, and I'm looking out the
<v Speaker 2>window and we drive by a small farm. It was
<v Speaker 2>maybe about fifty yards off the road, and there was
<v Speaker 2>an equipment shed or a barn or something there, and
<v Speaker 2>it had what appeared to me to be a chicken coop.
<v Speaker 2>Next to it was a small chicken house surrounded by
<v Speaker 2>a pretty high chicken wire. It looked like maybe you know,
<v Speaker 2>like two or three strands of chicken wire wrapped around
<v Speaker 2>a fence going around it and near it, five or
<v Speaker 2>six feet from it. It was a very large animal
<v Speaker 2>and it was very out of the ordinary. I'd seen
<v Speaker 2>a couple of bears before at distance, black bears, and
<v Speaker 2>this one was standing upright and it was solid black,
<v Speaker 2>and it was very broad, and from what I could tell,
<v Speaker 2>it was very tall, and looking back at it now,
<v Speaker 2>I would say it's at least twice as tall as
<v Speaker 2>what a normal black bear standing up would look like.
<v Speaker 2>So I was just fascinated by it. I followed it
<v Speaker 2>with my eyes and turned my head just like I
<v Speaker 2>keep watching it the entire way. It didn't really look
<v Speaker 2>like it had much of a neck. It was about
<v Speaker 2>fifty yards away, so I wasn't really able to discern,
<v Speaker 2>you know, what the facial features or anything looked like.
<v Speaker 2>I couldn't tell if I had a ears or anything
<v Speaker 2>like that. I could tell it had black fur, and
<v Speaker 2>it was getting pretty dark, so you know, it could
<v Speaker 2>have been dark brown or some other color, but it
<v Speaker 2>appeared black to me, and it was standing on two legs,
<v Speaker 2>it was standing upright, and I just wasn't sure what
<v Speaker 2>it was. And so we drove on past, and I
<v Speaker 2>was kind of a little bit shocked by the uh,
<v Speaker 2>the look of it. And I asked, hey, do you
<v Speaker 2>guys see that? And my mother said, you know that
<v Speaker 2>she did, and uh, I asked her. I said, what
<v Speaker 2>kind of bear was that? Because I'd never seen anything
<v Speaker 2>that large before, and you know, to me, the size
<v Speaker 2>of it would have been like a bull, like an
<v Speaker 2>angus bull standing on its hind feet. It was kind
<v Speaker 2>of very big, and so anyway, I asked her, and
<v Speaker 2>she said, well, you know, it wasn't a bear. And
<v Speaker 2>so my grandmother she was she was actually asleep, and
<v Speaker 2>my grandfather was sitting in the passenger front seat, and
<v Speaker 2>he said he didn't see it, but he had had
<v Speaker 2>some experiences when he was younger. And we started describing
<v Speaker 2>what we saw, and and uh, you know, my mother
<v Speaker 2>called it a wood booger, and uh he agreed, that's
<v Speaker 2>what it sounded like it was. And I had never
<v Speaker 2>heard of such a thing before. And although I probably
<v Speaker 2>heard of sasquatch, I didn't really think of that at
<v Speaker 2>the moment because I wasn't really into it at the time.
<v Speaker 2>And uh So, anyway, we saw this driving home one
<v Speaker 2>evening from fishing along the road there in near Willows Springs, Missouri,
<v Speaker 2>and we didn't really talk about it a whole lot afterwards.
<v Speaker 2>We would have, you know, it would come up in
<v Speaker 2>casual conversation from time to time, but it just wasn't
<v Speaker 2>something that, even though it was strange, it just didn't
<v Speaker 2>dominate because it was such a quick sighting. I guess
<v Speaker 2>I could have misidentified it, but I don't think so,
<v Speaker 2>because I don't think there's anything out there that tall,
<v Speaker 2>and so we just didn't really talk about it a
<v Speaker 2>whole lot. My mother since passed away, so I don't
<v Speaker 2>have an opportunity to talk to her about it anymore.
<v Speaker 2>But that was something that happened that I found very strange,
<v Speaker 2>and it kind of made reevaluate my whole outlook on things,
<v Speaker 2>and I started researching more and and I came to
<v Speaker 2>realize that I had probably seen a sasquatch at that point,
<v Speaker 2>after watching, you know, all the campy shows that the
<v Speaker 2>eighties produced about Bigfoot and reading about it and all
<v Speaker 2>that kind of stuff. Back then, we didn't have the Internet,
<v Speaker 2>so we had to had to get our information from
<v Speaker 2>picked from movies like The Boggy Creep Monster or whatever.
<v Speaker 2>And so that was the first kind of strange thing
<v Speaker 2>that that happened. Later on, my mother remarried and my stepfather,
<v Speaker 2>he was from Southeast Georgia. That's how I ended up
<v Speaker 2>down here. And so in nineteen eighty four we moved
<v Speaker 2>from Missouri to Scriven County, Georgia, which is right on
<v Speaker 2>the border with South Carolina in Southeast Georgia. And we
<v Speaker 2>lived there for about a year and then we moved
<v Speaker 2>to Bullock County, which is just a neighboring county. And anyway,
<v Speaker 2>in nineteen eighty nine, I had just graduated high school
<v Speaker 2>and my father, stepfather, he was from Scribing County, so
<v Speaker 2>he knew a lot of people there. We would go
<v Speaker 2>over there. He had permission to hunt on properties and
<v Speaker 2>some ponds that he had permission to fish in. So
<v Speaker 2>we traveled to Scriving County quite a bit to hunt
<v Speaker 2>and fish and lifelong hunter and and you know, I
<v Speaker 2>kind of was raised to be the same. And I've
<v Speaker 2>done a lot of deer hunting, spent a lot of
<v Speaker 2>time in the woods, deep woods hunting and fishing, and
<v Speaker 2>taken well over a hundred deer. Because our deer season
<v Speaker 2>is quite liberal here. We get two bucks and ten
<v Speaker 2>does so and four months to do it. So I
<v Speaker 2>spent a lot of time outdoors. I guess that's what
<v Speaker 2>I'm trying to get at. And I've never really had
<v Speaker 2>any kind of experiences except for this one that were
<v Speaker 2>what I would consider strange here in Georgia. And we
<v Speaker 2>were fishing along a small river called the Ageechee River,
<v Speaker 2>and we were at a private landing. Now the private
<v Speaker 2>landing was just a dirt landing, boat landing, and the
<v Speaker 2>Geeche River doesn't have a lot of public landings in
<v Speaker 2>this particular area, and it's a small river and it's
<v Speaker 2>not really navigable because the trees fall across it. It's
<v Speaker 2>maybe only as wide as a four lane highway in
<v Speaker 2>most places, and it does have some private landings, and
<v Speaker 2>we were fishing at one, and even though it was
<v Speaker 2>a private landing, my father had permission to fish there.
<v Speaker 2>And there was another private landing a few hundred yards
<v Speaker 2>down river from where we were fishing on the Bullet
<v Speaker 2>County side. The river flows between Bullet County and Scriving County,
<v Speaker 2>but we were on the Scriving County side and we
<v Speaker 2>were basically had gone catfishing that day. We set up
<v Speaker 2>right at dusk and we started fishing, and we were
<v Speaker 2>the only ones there. It's a nice wide spot, which
<v Speaker 2>is also unusual because there's no national forests in this
<v Speaker 2>part of Georgia. But this is mostly small farms and
<v Speaker 2>there are a lot of swampy, low lying areas that
<v Speaker 2>aren't suitable for farming, so there's quite a bit of
<v Speaker 2>forest land, especially along the rivers. The rivers are just
<v Speaker 2>basically undeveloped because they are so low lying, and there's
<v Speaker 2>tens of thousands of acres that run along the river
<v Speaker 2>here that just simply don't have any development other than
<v Speaker 2>an occasional fishing cabin or landing to put a boat in.
<v Speaker 2>And anyway, so we were fishing here, and we've been
<v Speaker 2>fishing for I guess probably a couple hours, and it
<v Speaker 2>was probably getting close to midnight at this point. It
<v Speaker 2>would have been June or July of nineteen eighty nine,
<v Speaker 2>and we have been fishing here and catching quite a
<v Speaker 2>few fish, so we were having quite a good time.
<v Speaker 2>My father always used a Coleman lantern, which is a
<v Speaker 2>gas lantern, and I had a battery powered lantern that
<v Speaker 2>I was using, and we were kind of set up
<v Speaker 2>a little bit apart from each other, but you know,
<v Speaker 2>still fairly close, and you know, catfishing in the river
<v Speaker 2>at night off of the bank and across the river
<v Speaker 2>from us roughly about midnight. All I can really describe
<v Speaker 2>it as is it sounded like a very loud, very breathy,
<v Speaker 2>almost female scream. It sounded like, really it was kind
<v Speaker 2>of in the middle of the river. It sounded that close,
<v Speaker 2>but you know, it wouldn't have been able to be
<v Speaker 2>in the middle of the river. It was across the
<v Speaker 2>river on the Bullet County side somewhere. But it wasn't
<v Speaker 2>a really long, dry out scream. It was kind of
<v Speaker 2>a short scream, and there's something I've never heard before.
<v Speaker 2>And I looked over at my stepfather and he kind
<v Speaker 2>of looked at me, and we both kind of asked
<v Speaker 2>each other if we knew what that was. Right there
<v Speaker 2>in that moment, we were like, what was that? And
<v Speaker 2>neither one of us really had heard anything like that before.
<v Speaker 2>I think bobcats kind of make a screaming sound, so
<v Speaker 2>maybe it was that, but I'm nin one hundred percent sure.
<v Speaker 2>It just was something I hadn't heard before. And if
<v Speaker 2>it had only been that, I probably just would have
<v Speaker 2>wrote it off as nothing else. But we continue fishing,
<v Speaker 2>and my stepfather he did mention that he thought it
<v Speaker 2>might have been a panther, which which did kind of
<v Speaker 2>make me a little bit nervous because we didn't have
<v Speaker 2>a fire room with us. But again, it was across
<v Speaker 2>the river and so therefore we weren't overly worried about it.
<v Speaker 2>So we continue fishing, and I don't know it was
<v Speaker 2>it was at least maybe a half an hour or
<v Speaker 2>so had gone by without hearing anything else, and so
<v Speaker 2>we're just stating there. Everything's quiet, just hear the noise
<v Speaker 2>of the river, and we're catching catfish, and we hear
<v Speaker 2>a huge slap on top of the water, like someone
<v Speaker 2>doing a giant belly flop. And I've heard that before,
<v Speaker 2>you know, Beaver's when they slapped their tail, they kind
<v Speaker 2>of make that noise. So immediately my mind went to
<v Speaker 2>beaver and I'm sure my stepfather was probably thinking the
<v Speaker 2>same thing. And again we probably would have wrote that off,
<v Speaker 2>but when within a few minutes we heard a crack
<v Speaker 2>like a tree snapping in half, and then a big
<v Speaker 2>crash of a tree into the water, So either a
<v Speaker 2>large portion of the tree fell off or a whole
<v Speaker 2>tree fell into the water. And I was like, you know,
<v Speaker 2>a tree just fall and my stepfather was it was like, yeah,
<v Speaker 2>it sounds like it must have. And again and it's
<v Speaker 2>across the river from it's fairly close to us. But
<v Speaker 2>being it was a dark night, I don't think there
<v Speaker 2>was a moon, or if there was, it wasn't putting
<v Speaker 2>a lot of light. So all we had was the
<v Speaker 2>lantern light, and we could only see, you know, within
<v Speaker 2>the lantern light, and obviously couldn't see across the river.
<v Speaker 2>So the stranger than normal things were kind of happening.
<v Speaker 2>It wasn't scaring us away. We weren't frightened really at all,
<v Speaker 2>because when you're out in the woods, you know, things happened,
<v Speaker 2>trees fall and different different things. And been fishing a lot,
<v Speaker 2>and I've heard a few things that obviously were natural sounds.
<v Speaker 2>So at that point we weren't really too worried about it.
<v Speaker 2>Still catching fish, so we weren't playing on leaving anytime soon.
<v Speaker 2>And a few minutes after the tree, we started hearing
<v Speaker 2>large splashes in the water. And you know, if if
<v Speaker 2>you were in Missouri, you would think maybe rocks were
<v Speaker 2>being thrown into the river. It was that kind of splash.
<v Speaker 2>It was pretty large splash, like it would have been
<v Speaker 2>a large rock. Now, there's no rocks along the rivers
<v Speaker 2>here in Georgia for the most part, at least not
<v Speaker 2>this part of the state, because it's just low lying, muddy,
<v Speaker 2>swampy areas. Occasionally, if you have a high bank on
<v Speaker 2>the side of the river, you can have large pieces
<v Speaker 2>of the bank fall off and it kind of makes
<v Speaker 2>a splashing sound, but it didn't sound the same as that.
<v Speaker 2>It sounded like something being hurled out further into the
<v Speaker 2>middle of the river. The only thing I can really
<v Speaker 2>really think that it was it was maybe some large
<v Speaker 2>limbs or sticks or something being thrown out in the river.
<v Speaker 2>But it had to be pretty good size ones, because
<v Speaker 2>it wasn't a small splash it was. It was a
<v Speaker 2>pretty good splash, and it was several of them, and
<v Speaker 2>it just kept happening, and it was across the river
<v Speaker 2>from us. And at this point I was like, what's
<v Speaker 2>going on? And my stepfather was kind of starting to
<v Speaker 2>get up stair. He says, I think somebody's trying to
<v Speaker 2>scare us off. So he kind of got really mad
<v Speaker 2>and he yelled, hey, you know, leave us alone, and
<v Speaker 2>or something like that. I don't remember exactly what he yelled,
<v Speaker 2>but then he started cussing that whatever was across the
<v Speaker 2>river a little bit. And it just kept happening, not
<v Speaker 2>you know, like one after the other, but every few
<v Speaker 2>minutes you'd hear a big splash. And this went on
<v Speaker 2>for I don't know, five or six or ten splashes.
<v Speaker 2>I don't really know the exact number. And then we
<v Speaker 2>heard something that I definitely have never heard before. And
<v Speaker 2>keep in mind, where as I said, we're sitting on
<v Speaker 2>the river. We're on the Scrimming County side of the river,
<v Speaker 2>and this is happening on the Bullet County side, and
<v Speaker 2>the river is about maybe a little wider than a
<v Speaker 2>four lane highway at this particular part of the river.
<v Speaker 2>And we hear something that sounds like a low growl
<v Speaker 2>and it's really deep because it kind of feels like
<v Speaker 2>it's in your chest, like almost like you can feel
<v Speaker 2>it as well as hear it. And I have never,
<v Speaker 2>like I said, hunted all my life, fished all my life,
<v Speaker 2>over fifty years old, never heard that before, never heard
<v Speaker 2>it since. And that did spook us a little bit,
<v Speaker 2>and we were like, you know, I think it's time.
<v Speaker 2>We probably probably should leave because we caught several fish
<v Speaker 2>and something weird was going on and we didn't really
<v Speaker 2>know what was going on. We couldn't see. We actually
<v Speaker 2>didn't bring in flashlights with us. We only had the lanterns.
<v Speaker 2>We didn't think we needed them. We could park fairly
<v Speaker 2>close to where we set up the fish and just
<v Speaker 2>use the lantern light. So we started packing up we
<v Speaker 2>got in the cooler together and the rods and reels
<v Speaker 2>and the fish and all that kind of stuff, and
<v Speaker 2>put it in the back of his truck. And he
<v Speaker 2>went back to get his lantern, which he'd set on
<v Speaker 2>an old milk crate right at the edge of the water,
<v Speaker 2>and essentially he walked down there to pick it up
<v Speaker 2>and slipped and fell right into the river, knocked the
<v Speaker 2>lantern off, The lantern, milk crake and him all went
<v Speaker 2>right into the river. And the river is probably about
<v Speaker 2>three foot deep or so right there, maybe two. It
<v Speaker 2>wasn't terribly deep right there off the bank we were
<v Speaker 2>on an outside ben. It was a little deeper, but
<v Speaker 2>not too deep. And uh, anyway, he just had a
<v Speaker 2>little trouble getting back out of the river, so I
<v Speaker 2>came over there and helped him back up. And right
<v Speaker 2>as I was helping him back up, we got it.
<v Speaker 2>We got another growl, same as before, real low deep
<v Speaker 2>to kind of feel it as well as hear it.
<v Speaker 2>And but again it sounded like it was coming from
<v Speaker 2>the river, so I mean, it didn't sound like it
<v Speaker 2>was coming from the left or right of us. It
<v Speaker 2>sounded like it was coming from the river, So it
<v Speaker 2>would have been across the river, and uh So anyway,
<v Speaker 2>he's like, well, I'm gonna get my lantern before we go,
<v Speaker 2>and helped him back down there where he hadn't so
<v Speaker 2>he wouldn't fall back in, and he felt around with
<v Speaker 2>his feet and found his lander, and I somehow found it.
<v Speaker 2>I still don't know how he did it, because the
<v Speaker 2>rivers aren't clear here. They're they're just basically the color
<v Speaker 2>of mud, and uh but he found it, got it
<v Speaker 2>out of the river, We got it, got him back
<v Speaker 2>up out of the river, and got it, got everything
<v Speaker 2>loaded in the truck, and basically we left and never
<v Speaker 2>saw anything, only had sounds. But it was extremely strange
<v Speaker 2>because I fished a lot and fished catfish at night
<v Speaker 2>a lot, especially when I was younger, and I've heard
<v Speaker 2>some stuff, like I said, you know, things like a
<v Speaker 2>high bank where the muddle fall off in the river
<v Speaker 2>and it'll kind of splash a little bit, but it
<v Speaker 2>doesn't make a large splashing sound. Hard trees fall and
<v Speaker 2>all that kind of stuff. All that could have been natural,
<v Speaker 2>but it was just the entire combination of everything, including
<v Speaker 2>the growls, that kind of made it a strange occurrence
<v Speaker 2>for us. And then the owner of the property. We
<v Speaker 2>never really went back. I don't think we really wanted
<v Speaker 2>to overly, but the owner of the property, as I said,
<v Speaker 2>it was a private boat landing, and not too long
<v Speaker 2>after we had fished that night, the owner of the
<v Speaker 2>property basically closed down the landing. He wouldn't let anyone
<v Speaker 2>but his immediate family go down there and fish, So
<v Speaker 2>I don't know why he did that, but he did,
<v Speaker 2>so we never really got an opportunity to go back
<v Speaker 2>and fish there again. Essentially, that was the two weird
<v Speaker 2>things that have happened to me, you know, out in
<v Speaker 2>the out in the woods or there in Missouri driving
<v Speaker 2>home from fishing, which was in a kind of a
<v Speaker 2>rural area itself.
<v Speaker 1>Okay, Daryl, Well, I really appreciate you for sharing your
<v Speaker 1>encounters and experiences with me. And it sounds like the
<v Speaker 1>property owner possibly shut the place down because there was
<v Speaker 1>something there. Maybe he experienced something as well.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, I have no idea. My stepfather knew him and
<v Speaker 2>I didn't, so I don't know if they ever talked
<v Speaker 2>about it or not. I just know that my stepfather
<v Speaker 2>told me that he put up a chain across the
<v Speaker 2>road and had basically closed it down. To anyone but
<v Speaker 2>him an immediate family. And he did have a fishing
<v Speaker 2>cabin there. I don't know if someone maybe was vandalizing
<v Speaker 2>it or some other thing going on, but he certainly
<v Speaker 2>closed it down, so no one ever got the opportunity
<v Speaker 2>other than him and his family to fish there.
<v Speaker 1>Again, Yeah, that is interesting. And whenever you encountered the
<v Speaker 1>creature by the chicken coop, was that close to water
<v Speaker 1>or was that far away from Noblick Lake?
<v Speaker 2>Well, it was. It was closer to Willow Springs than
<v Speaker 2>Noblet Lake. I just the trip was to Noblet Lake,
<v Speaker 2>which is the only reason I talked about Noblet Lake.
<v Speaker 2>There could be water around, I just don't know that
<v Speaker 2>the layout of the farm, it could have had a
<v Speaker 2>small pond or stream somewhere nearby. But that area that
<v Speaker 2>drive is so wooded. I mean it is. If you
<v Speaker 2>pull it up on a on a Google map and
<v Speaker 2>you and you take a look at Noblet Lake, you'll
<v Speaker 2>see that it's situated, especially between Noblet Lake and Willow Springs,
<v Speaker 2>it's almost completely forest. And then there are a few
<v Speaker 2>small farms and homes along the way, and it was
<v Speaker 2>at one of those. It would have been on the
<v Speaker 2>north side I think or the east or the west side,
<v Speaker 2>either one. I'm not really sure. I guess it would
<v Speaker 2>have been in the north side of the road. I
<v Speaker 2>saw the animal, and I don't know what it was.
<v Speaker 2>I'm not claiming for sure it was, you know, a sasquatch,
<v Speaker 2>but I can't explain what else it would have been
<v Speaker 2>given it side.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, it sounds like a very large creature. And I've
<v Speaker 1>often heard reports where they're attracted to chickens chicken coops,
<v Speaker 1>and I think that's a food source for them.
<v Speaker 2>Very well. Could be certainly, you know, chickens cooped up.
<v Speaker 2>You know, foxes and bobcats and even possums will get
<v Speaker 2>in there and attack them. So I mean it's it's
<v Speaker 2>food in one place that can't really get away easily.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, very true. And how well could you see the creature?
<v Speaker 2>Well, it was in the open, so it wasn't like
<v Speaker 2>behind any trees or anything, so I could see it
<v Speaker 2>pretty well from that perspective. But it was about fifty
<v Speaker 2>yards away, so it was hard for me to make
<v Speaker 2>out any real details of it. I could tell it,
<v Speaker 2>you know, it was. It looked black to me, and
<v Speaker 2>it was definitely tall. It towered over the chicken coop. Again,
<v Speaker 2>I don't know exactly. I was pretty young still, you know,
<v Speaker 2>roughly ten years old. I don't know for sure how
<v Speaker 2>tall it was, but if I had to guess, you know,
<v Speaker 2>it would have been probably eight to ten feet tall.
<v Speaker 2>I think I think a black bear, at least the
<v Speaker 2>ones I've seen standing up, might be about five foot tall.
<v Speaker 2>So I would say that a ten foot is probably
<v Speaker 2>a good estimate because I think it would have made
<v Speaker 2>two black bears standing on top of each other to
<v Speaker 2>make it that tall.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, and did you guys ever have any chickens go
<v Speaker 1>messing any chicken eggs anything like that?
<v Speaker 2>Well, this wasn't our farm, so no, you know, I
<v Speaker 2>would have known. We were just driving by. Now. You know,
<v Speaker 2>we've had chickens here and here in Georgia, and we
<v Speaker 2>have had some go missing. But I don't think it
<v Speaker 2>was necessarily fasquatch. I'm pretty sure it was a fox
<v Speaker 2>or a chicken hawk got those, But I don't know.
<v Speaker 2>It's hard to say, because this is just a chance
<v Speaker 2>encounter wouldn't have even happened if I hadn't have got
<v Speaker 2>out there on that rock and had the snake come
<v Speaker 2>out for me and kind of scared my mother into
<v Speaker 2>leaving early. You know, it was just, you know, coincidence.
<v Speaker 2>Otherwise we've been driving home at a different time and
<v Speaker 2>probably would have never seen it. There was a yard light.
<v Speaker 2>I do remember there was a yard light. I can't
<v Speaker 2>remre if it was attached. I think it was attached
<v Speaker 2>to the barn itself or the shop. So there was
<v Speaker 2>a yard light out there, so maybe was still seeing something.
<v Speaker 2>But it was right. It was right at dusk, but
<v Speaker 2>it wasn't dark enough that you couldn't make it out
<v Speaker 2>the animals standing there.
<v Speaker 1>Okay, so you guys were driving past the area, is
<v Speaker 1>that correct?
<v Speaker 2>That's right, Yes, we were, It was. It was I
<v Speaker 2>don't remember because I was pretty young. Again, I don't
<v Speaker 2>remember exactly how far outside of Willow Springs, but it
<v Speaker 2>was outside of town a little ways. It would have
<v Speaker 2>been closer to Willis Springs than Noblett Lake, so maybe
<v Speaker 2>five miles out of town or something like that.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, and Willow Springs doesn't very big, and I imagine
<v Speaker 1>back then there weren't there weren't too many people. There's
<v Speaker 1>a lot of woods in the area, a lot of
<v Speaker 1>Mark Twain National Forest, and I think these creatures would
<v Speaker 1>certainly be in there.
<v Speaker 2>I would certainly think there's there's plenty of food and
<v Speaker 2>plenty of habitat for them, you know, if they're in
<v Speaker 2>the area too. I mean, if it supports black bear,
<v Speaker 2>there's no reason why it shouldn't be able to support
<v Speaker 2>something like a sasquat.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, I would agree. And is there anything else you
<v Speaker 1>can think of that's happened in your life that you've
<v Speaker 1>experienced that might be bigfoot, anything paranormal, any UF or
<v Speaker 1>alien experiences.
<v Speaker 2>Well, nothing else that I would think might be Bigfoot.
<v Speaker 2>And like I said, on that second experience, I have
<v Speaker 2>no idea. I didn't see anything. It was all sounds.
<v Speaker 2>But as I said, you know, I've been hunting and
<v Speaker 2>fishing since I was, you know, seven or eight years old,
<v Speaker 2>and I've certainly never experienced anything like that. I have
<v Speaker 2>seen some things. Really, I really haven't seen anything else
<v Speaker 2>paranormal Bigfoot related. I'm not going out looking for anything.
<v Speaker 2>And if you know, I do hunt and fish, and
<v Speaker 2>I do spend a lot of time in the woods,
<v Speaker 2>So you know, I'm actually kind of surprised I haven't
<v Speaker 2>had more experiences, to be honest, but these were the
<v Speaker 2>only two that I've ever really had that could have
<v Speaker 2>been like a Bigfoot type creature. I have seen in
<v Speaker 2>the sky a couple of these things, and I don't
<v Speaker 2>really know what they were. One time, I was standing
<v Speaker 2>my mother's house. This is after i'd moved out, I'd
<v Speaker 2>come back to visit, and I was talking on my
<v Speaker 2>cell phone and I was actually she had a patio
<v Speaker 2>and I was standing on her patio outside her kitchen,
<v Speaker 2>and I was looking toward the northern sky and I
<v Speaker 2>had noticed a really bright star and I was sitting
<v Speaker 2>there looking at it. I was like, you know, I
<v Speaker 2>don't think i've ever seen that star before. It's so
<v Speaker 2>bright it must be a planet. But I was talking
<v Speaker 2>on the phone while I was kind of looking at it,
<v Speaker 2>and a few seconds later, it shot straight up into
<v Speaker 2>outer space and was gone, like in the blink of
<v Speaker 2>an eye. It was stationary prior to that, and then
<v Speaker 2>it basically just shot out of sight and it didn't
<v Speaker 2>go down, it went up. And I found that very strange.
<v Speaker 2>To be honest with you, no idea what it was,
<v Speaker 2>but that was certainly something that I've not seen before,
<v Speaker 2>and it was strange to me. The only other instance,
<v Speaker 2>on Christmas morning one year, my in laws lived about
<v Speaker 2>twenty five miles away from us, and we always went
<v Speaker 2>to their house for Christmas morning, and we were and
<v Speaker 2>because the all the grandkids gathered up there, they wanted
<v Speaker 2>to do everything right at daylight, you know, we'd have
<v Speaker 2>to get over there pretty early, so we would leave
<v Speaker 2>before the sun came up. And we were loading up
<v Speaker 2>the car with the kids to on Christmas morning to
<v Speaker 2>go over there. And this is before starlink. We seen
<v Speaker 2>some strange in my life. And I saw some strange
<v Speaker 2>formations of lights and there were multiple formations, like three
<v Speaker 2>formations of maybe five lights each, and they were passing
<v Speaker 2>overhead and no sound. They appeared to be stars, except
<v Speaker 2>for they were in formation and they were of course
<v Speaker 2>traveling across the sky where are appears stationary even though
<v Speaker 2>it's not. So that was another strange occurrence. No idea
<v Speaker 2>what that was. I'm assuming it must have been satellite,
<v Speaker 2>but I don't know that I've not seen anything like
<v Speaker 2>it before. If it was planes, they were very far
<v Speaker 2>apart but still in formation and very high because we
<v Speaker 2>couldn't hear anything. But I'm assuming it was satellite.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, that is interesting, and I've seen the same thing before.
<v Speaker 1>I witnessed this large blowing orb that kind of moved
<v Speaker 1>around the house and it stayed stationary once it got
<v Speaker 1>to the front of the house, and it was radiating
<v Speaker 1>and turning into different colors, and then all of a sudden,
<v Speaker 1>it shot up at an angle into space, like at
<v Speaker 1>warp speed and just disappeared.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, you know, that's exactly. I mean, this one wasn't
<v Speaker 2>that low to the ground. It was high up like
<v Speaker 2>a star would have been. But it was a lot
<v Speaker 2>brighter than one I saw of the patio, and it
<v Speaker 2>caught my attention only because I happened to go outside
<v Speaker 2>and was talking on the phone because I wanted to
<v Speaker 2>have a private conversation, and I was basically just standing
<v Speaker 2>there talking on the phone looking at the sky, and
<v Speaker 2>it caught my attention because it was brighter than a
<v Speaker 2>normal star would be. But it was appeared stationary for
<v Speaker 2>a few seconds, and then shot had an incredible speed
<v Speaker 2>straight up in a way. And I know for a
<v Speaker 2>fact I've never seen that before, and I can't imagine
<v Speaker 2>what it was if it I mean, UFO definitely, because
<v Speaker 2>it's certainly identified as far as I'm concerned, But you know,
<v Speaker 2>I'm not saying it was alien or anything, but it
<v Speaker 2>was certainly strange.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, absolutely, all right, Daryl, I think that pretty well
<v Speaker 1>covers most of your encounters and experiences. Do you have
<v Speaker 1>anything else that you'd like to add?
<v Speaker 2>No, Like I said, my grandfather had an experience when
<v Speaker 2>he when he was younger. He used to tell me
<v Speaker 2>a story about. But I don't know if you're interested
<v Speaker 2>to hear about it. That one. Certainly something didn't happen
<v Speaker 2>to me. It was only secondhand information.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, let's hear about it.
<v Speaker 2>Well, he essentially after this seeing this animal when we
<v Speaker 2>were driving back from Nobolt Lake and my mother and
<v Speaker 2>I were telling him what we saw, they were agreeing
<v Speaker 2>it was this wood booker as they called it. And
<v Speaker 2>so he told us about when he was younger, during
<v Speaker 2>World War two, he had epilepsy, so he wasn't able
<v Speaker 2>to fight in the war, but he owned a saw
<v Speaker 2>mill and it was a small sawmill operation. It was
<v Speaker 2>just him and his brother and a couple of employees.
<v Speaker 2>And the way I understand it, they would go out
<v Speaker 2>from the saw mill. They had their own log trucks
<v Speaker 2>and they would go out and they would pick up
<v Speaker 2>the logs and drive them back to the to the
<v Speaker 2>saw mill, and so he had gone out to get
<v Speaker 2>a load of logs to bring back to the saw mill,
<v Speaker 2>and he said they were cutting like a million board
<v Speaker 2>feet of lumber a day for the army, I think,
<v Speaker 2>to make railroad ties, if I remember the story correctly.
<v Speaker 2>And so he'd gone out to get this load of
<v Speaker 2>logs and his truck had broke down, and of course
<v Speaker 2>he's on a logging road in the middle of nowhere, Missouri.
<v Speaker 2>It would have been in Douglas County because that's where
<v Speaker 2>he had the saw mill at which you know, Novel
<v Speaker 2>Lake itself is in Douglas County, but I'm not sure
<v Speaker 2>exactly what part of Douglas County if he told me,
<v Speaker 2>I don't remember. But anyway, the truck had broke down,
<v Speaker 2>so he had to walk back to the saw mill
<v Speaker 2>to get help. And he's walking along the logging road
<v Speaker 2>and he said, one of these wood buggers, as he
<v Speaker 2>called it, essentially stepped out onto the logging road in
<v Speaker 2>front of him. I don't know exactly how far away,
<v Speaker 2>but fairly far away in that he saw it, could
<v Speaker 2>tell it what it was and all that, but it
<v Speaker 2>wasn't so close to him. That was right on top
<v Speaker 2>of him, and he said they just kind of stopped
<v Speaker 2>and went motionless. Him and this this animal, and they
<v Speaker 2>just kind of size each other up, as he put it,
<v Speaker 2>and he stood there for a little bit, and he
<v Speaker 2>said it just kind of walked off on across the
<v Speaker 2>road and off to the side of the logging road
<v Speaker 2>and into the trees after looking at him for a
<v Speaker 2>minute or two. And he had had a large he
<v Speaker 2>called it these pigsticker. It was a it was a
<v Speaker 2>I still have it as a matter of fact. It
<v Speaker 2>was a large case knife, a large two blade case knife.
<v Speaker 2>And he said he pulled that out of his pocket
<v Speaker 2>and opened it up because he said, if it came
<v Speaker 2>after him, he was at least going to go down fighting.
<v Speaker 2>And he said he gave it a few minutes to leave,
<v Speaker 2>and he kind of kept walking that way. And he said,
<v Speaker 2>this is during daylight, so you know, it wasn't like
<v Speaker 2>overnight or anything. And uh, he said, he walked past
<v Speaker 2>where it was at, and he he said he heard
<v Speaker 2>something off in the trees, but never never really saw
<v Speaker 2>it again. And he walked on the saw mills. So again,
<v Speaker 2>it was another it's another kind of a short, short encounter,
<v Speaker 2>but you know, he was adamant that essentially what we
<v Speaker 2>saw is what he saw back in the nineteen forties
<v Speaker 2>while he was logging.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, that is very interesting. Did he describe what this
<v Speaker 1>creature looked like?
<v Speaker 2>Well, he basically said it looked like what we described,
<v Speaker 2>which was was tall and hairy and wide. And I'm
<v Speaker 2>pretty sure he told us that his look kind of
<v Speaker 2>orange is brown, but the one I saw to me
<v Speaker 2>look black. But at any rate, he saw it from
<v Speaker 2>what I could gather, about the same distance that we
<v Speaker 2>saw this one, so about fifty yards maybe away, and
<v Speaker 2>he was walking along the logging road, so he would
<v Speaker 2>have been walking maybe where he wasn't making a lot
<v Speaker 2>of noise walking, so I think maybe it was just
<v Speaker 2>crossing and naturally and they basically both startled each other
<v Speaker 2>because they didn't expect each other there.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, that's interesting. I wonder how many people have encountered
<v Speaker 1>these creatures and just never talk about it or don't
<v Speaker 1>know what to make of it.
<v Speaker 2>Well, you know, that's kind of me. I talked with
<v Speaker 2>my mother about our sighting there on the road a
<v Speaker 2>little bit here and there when it would come up.
<v Speaker 2>I've told my kids the story about the night on
<v Speaker 2>the river mostly, you know, kind of a campfire kind
<v Speaker 2>of thing. But I've never told anyone outside my immediate
<v Speaker 2>family what I've seen until today because I just didn't
<v Speaker 2>really feel like it was you know, if someone came
<v Speaker 2>up to me and said, you know, well I saw this,
<v Speaker 2>I would then chime in and say, yeah, I've seen
<v Speaker 2>something like that, and here's what I saw. But I
<v Speaker 2>didn't go out of my way to tell the story
<v Speaker 2>to anybody, not necessarily because I didn't think I was
<v Speaker 2>gonna believed. Because I really don't really doesn't matter to
<v Speaker 2>me whether I'm believed or not. It's just a situation
<v Speaker 2>where I don't I don't feel like I have enough
<v Speaker 2>to contribute because you know, I've been listening to your show.
<v Speaker 2>I love listening to your show. I load my own
<v Speaker 2>ammunition for hunting and shooting, and I'll put it on
<v Speaker 2>in the background and listen to it while i'm while
<v Speaker 2>I'm making AMMO for my rifles a lot, and so
<v Speaker 2>I love listening to it. You do a great job.
<v Speaker 2>But you know, I listen to some of these stories
<v Speaker 2>and they're very detailed, and they've had multiple encounters and stuff,
<v Speaker 2>and that's not me. I've had very short situations, So
<v Speaker 2>I never really felt like I needed to tell anybody
<v Speaker 2>about it.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, that makes a lot of sense. And it's hard
<v Speaker 1>to talk to anyone about it just because most people
<v Speaker 1>don't understand and they've never experienced anything. And you know,
<v Speaker 1>it's just kind of something that you keep balled up
<v Speaker 1>deep inside yourself and whenever the opportunity rises, you share
<v Speaker 1>it with whoever is open to it.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah. Absolutely, And I think you know, it's certainly today
<v Speaker 2>it's a lot more accepted than it was when I
<v Speaker 2>was younger. When I was growing up in the in
<v Speaker 2>the seventies and eighties, I mean, most people said, oh,
<v Speaker 2>you're a koop if you've seen this thing, or you
<v Speaker 2>say you've seen this thing, and that might be another reason.
<v Speaker 2>But I mean today I think it's a lot more
<v Speaker 2>accepted than it was back then. But I mean, again,
<v Speaker 2>you know, it's just kind of one of those things.
<v Speaker 2>I think, something like your show and other shows like it,
<v Speaker 2>and and even like the Finding Bigfoot show on television
<v Speaker 2>and stuff. Even though I watched the Finding Bigfoot show
<v Speaker 2>and I go, they're never gonna find anything if they
<v Speaker 2>keep making that much noise, to be honest with you,
<v Speaker 2>but you know, being a hunter, I would never make
<v Speaker 2>that much noise. But anyway, I guess you know, they
<v Speaker 2>have their own theory is to how to do it.
<v Speaker 2>But anyway, I think all those type things you're s
<v Speaker 2>television shows like that will help bring it more into
<v Speaker 2>the mainstream so that people will talk about their experiences,
<v Speaker 2>answer something out there to find it. It'll help us
<v Speaker 2>all be more aware and find it. Yeah.
<v Speaker 1>Absolutely, we may never figure out what it is, but
<v Speaker 1>there's more people speaking openly about it, and there's all
<v Speaker 1>kinds of shows now on YouTube and TV, and I
<v Speaker 1>think people are becoming more aware of the subject, even
<v Speaker 1>if they don't believe they're aware. So that way, if
<v Speaker 1>it happens to them or someone they know, they at
<v Speaker 1>least know what to make of it or what it
<v Speaker 1>could be.
<v Speaker 2>Absolutely, I agree.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, And what do you think these creatures are? Where
<v Speaker 1>do you think they came from?
<v Speaker 2>I really don't know. I like to tell people I'm
<v Speaker 2>from the show Me State because of the motto of Missouri,
<v Speaker 2>of course, so I only know what I've seen. I
<v Speaker 2>feel like what I did see was a flesh and
<v Speaker 2>blood and I don't know from there really what they are.
<v Speaker 2>I mean, you know, I've listened to all the theories
<v Speaker 2>about you know, Giganificus and and and you know, the
<v Speaker 2>missing Link and you know, alien pits and all that
<v Speaker 2>kind of stuff, And I know there's a lot of
<v Speaker 2>different theories out there, and I just really I don't
<v Speaker 2>want to say because I don't know. I'm more of
<v Speaker 2>a wait and see what they are kind of attitude
<v Speaker 2>about it. So I'm kind of open to them being anything,
<v Speaker 2>as long as it's not too outlandish. But I do
<v Speaker 2>believe the one thing I do believe because of what
<v Speaker 2>I've seen is that they are a flesh and blood
<v Speaker 2>animal of some kind. Yeah.
<v Speaker 1>Absolutely, they are flesh and blood, and I truly believe
<v Speaker 1>they're living out there in the woods. But also my
<v Speaker 1>mind wants to teter too, you know, like the other
<v Speaker 1>theories that they're part of the giants. Enough, maybe they're
<v Speaker 1>alien because people are seeing these things in the sky,
<v Speaker 1>so you know, it could be something to do with that.
<v Speaker 1>A lot of people claim maybe they're interdimensional, but no
<v Speaker 1>matter what, they are flesh and blood, they are out
<v Speaker 1>there in the woods and they are real.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, So you know, again, I would need to see
<v Speaker 2>something that connects them. I personally haven't seen anything that
<v Speaker 2>connects them to like to like, you know, an alien
<v Speaker 2>or something like that. But just because I haven't seen
<v Speaker 2>it doesn't mean it's not true. So that's kind of
<v Speaker 2>where I'm at. I'm kind of like, well, this is
<v Speaker 2>what I've seen, so this is where I'm at. But
<v Speaker 2>if proof is provided, then I would certainly not say no,
<v Speaker 2>they can't be that if there's proof of it.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah. Absolutely. People can come up with all kinds of theories,
<v Speaker 1>but at the end of the day, they're an unknown
<v Speaker 1>creature species living out there in the woods, stealing chickens,
<v Speaker 1>chicken eggs, picking up fish from the river, things like that,
<v Speaker 1>So no matter what, they're out there. All right.

<v Speaker 1>A lot of people talk about having bigfoot encounters or
<v Speaker 1>experiences near chicken coops, and for some reason, these things
<v Speaker 1>are attracted to the chickens and it's an easy meal
<v Speaker 1>for them. I've honestly thought about getting chickens for that
<v Speaker 1>very reason. I eat eggs every morning, so I think
<v Speaker 1>that'll be beneficial for myself and for experiencing more sasquatch activity.
<v Speaker 1>But it's hard to say. Think about how many people
<v Speaker 1>have chicken coops and have never had any strange experiences.
<v Speaker 1>But I think a lot of people who have had
<v Speaker 1>chickens in the past have just had mysterious things take
<v Speaker 1>their chickens or get into the coop. And it's really
<v Speaker 1>hard to say, but this is an answer as to
<v Speaker 1>what possibly could be going on. They like turkey, grouse, ducks,
<v Speaker 1>and many other bird species, and I think there's a
<v Speaker 1>lot of protein there, so these things are attracted to
<v Speaker 1>the chickens. I'm sure you thought about this encounter for
<v Speaker 1>a long time, and I thought it was really cool
<v Speaker 1>that your mom and your family called them woodburgers. You
<v Speaker 1>hear that term a lot woodburgers, and to me, that
<v Speaker 1>means something that's messing with you. And these things are
<v Speaker 1>out in the forest, so that's a perfect term for
<v Speaker 1>these creatures. But yeah, I hope you guys enjoyed this
