Speaker 6: Like most things, it's just a completely different experience than it's been that this. I think this is my sixteenth Oh that's gross. I mean with cal they're all so young, and I think they were trained to maybe shy away from the media a little bit, so I mean, even though we love talking to them, the answers weren't always the greatest. You asked these guys. I mean these are grown adults. You asked them questions and it's three minutes later. I mean you almost even don't get your questions in. They're just so thorough and thoughtful in their answers. It just it was just a different experience I enjoy. I really didn't have time to talk to everyone went so fast because of this.

But anyway, eighty seven, let me say one thing before we get to phones about the media day, like the vibes of the team. Okay, you know Drew made this point yesterday. It's hard to talk about this stuff because it's I'm telling you, I'm not trying to just throw the former staff out the door and throw them, you know, under the bus, because that's but you can't help but notice how things have changed, Drew in the last fifteen years. And to do that you have to talk about how it was right. So on a personal level, for me personally, it's the first time I felt welcome in that building in a long time. But it's not just about me. Just in general watching it, you would some not not Cow's first few years, but as it went on, it always felt like me to me drew everyone, the players, the staff, everyone was walking on eggshells, right, sort of a there's just so much tension you could almost feel it. Yesterday was different. I mean the men and women went together, right, yeah, shared the day that I don't think that's happened, has it, it's ever happened. I don't remember it ever happened. And here's the good thing. Everyone stayed around for the women, and I bet a lot of people wouldn't necessarily have even come, to be quite frank with you, I probably wouldn't have been there for the women. I ended up being there because it was there. That's a very gracious thing to do, share this stage with all of these people that were there. The staff was around and like you were able to like it used to be, you would talk to someone and if they would look around to worry if anybody was seeing them, Like it's not like it felt like, you know, the assistant coaches are just roaming around and the players, like the players had clearly been told showcase your person, you know, don't say we're just here to be focused on winning. They were joking around and in fact, I just the vibe was so much different for me in a positive way, and I could feel it You're there more than I am.

Maybe it's his personality, but I was talking to Mario Williams and we were talking about English Breakfast. We end up talking from any about English Breakfast. Then he told me Pope's trying to get him to come out to the Beatles. It madness, you know, it used to be. Don't you say a word about madness. Lots of you know, they were keeping their secrets of their songs, but they're just so open to talk about whatever you wanna talk bringing up and they were like an open book. That's what just made it so refreshing. It also made it hard to get to everyone. Yesterday only got about five of them. But there's also just a it felt like we're having conversations with the players, not so much just kind of trying to get through this because.

Speaker 5: There was also a wide eyed happiness. And again I loved having all that talent. I mean, it was so it was awesome being like, what is Anthony Davis going to be like, what is Nel's Noel going to be like.

Speaker 5: But there's something about watching dudes who clearly are appreciative to be here, Like, there's something about watching dudes who you can tell this kid played it fairly Dickenson, not even the whole Dickens, just like fairly Dickens. He played it, Dayton, he played it Drexel. Right, this kid's been on a Mormon mission, this kid's from this state. They all had an excitement, And I remember I asked Kobe Brayat. I was like, you know, you play duke in a few weeks, Like are you excited about that? And he said and his answer was something I wish I'd taped it to the effect of, I'm really excited to play duke, but you know what, I'm more excited to be here, Like could you write a better answer to that question? I mean, could you like it? It was nice and neat. Now, obviously they gotta win, like being bright eyed and bushy tail doesn't matter if we lose by twenty. But to see that level of appreciation for the front of the uniform, I thought was very cool. A lot of them were saying, this place is just so special. It was almost like Pope's message. They I mean, not like they have received Pope's message and they're spread it too, but it was just so much Kentucky, Kentucky, Kentucky.

That's kind of what I think this Kentucky team is. There's not the guy that you go this dude could take us to a national championship. But you can say there's no reason this team can't be a top fifteen team. So for Doug, that does make me excited. It's just such a different team than we've ever had, and I just want people to understand that because it's we have not watched a team play like this probably since like occasional Tubby years, you know what I mean, like a Tubb team in two thousand and four.

I think Jackson Robinson might be that. But you know, when I watched the Pro Day, I appreciate the call strengths. They spread the ball, they pass offense is gonna be fun. Weaknesses. They did drills where they tried to take each other.
