<v Speaker 3>moved up to La started working behind the scenes for her.
<v Speaker 3>And I realized very quickly that if you are relatively
<v Speaker 3>competent and you show up on time, everybody will hire
<v Speaker 3>you to work the scenes and you're not creepy. Yeah,
<v Speaker 3>So I started working for her, writing for her, and
<v Speaker 3>then working for a lot of other people. Yeah, and
<v Speaker 3>then things just kind of snowballed from there.
<v Speaker 1>And then I know your your career has taken much
<v Speaker 1>more trajectory since then, but we'll get to that because
<v Speaker 1>I also want to dive into puck story. So you
<v Speaker 1>grew up in what you just describe as a conservative
<v Speaker 1>Christian cult. So what did that maybe? What did that
<v Speaker 1>lifestyle look like.
<v Speaker 5>I didn't masturbate until I was like eighteen, because it
<v Speaker 5>was a sin right right when I would make out
<v Speaker 5>with people, I thought that I had like angels, bells
<v Speaker 5>in my head telling me to stop, like I had
<v Speaker 5>like the I felt like what was God in the
<v Speaker 5>devil in my head like all the time, like the
<v Speaker 5>intrusive thoughts and things like, you know, telling.
<v Speaker 1>Me to be a good girl. And I was very good.
<v Speaker 5>I believed pretty much everything I was told until it
<v Speaker 5>like my teens, and I think what brought me out
<v Speaker 5>of that was the gay theater kids at my high school.
<v Speaker 1>Gay gets for me.
<v Speaker 5>So I think when I was eighteen, I got kicked
<v Speaker 5>out briefly for being in a queer relationship.
<v Speaker 1>That must have been rough. It was rough.
<v Speaker 5>I was going to a Christian university at the time,
<v Speaker 5>so they my parents took that away. They took the
<v Speaker 5>car away. Couldn't live with them.
<v Speaker 1>Anymore. I think two weeks later I came back and
<v Speaker 1>lied was just like.
<v Speaker 5>Oh, yeah, we're not dating anymore, can I please have
<v Speaker 5>this stuff back? And then since then they just have
<v Speaker 5>kind of like pretended that that never happened or anything.
<v Speaker 1>But yeah, what got me out and of that.
<v Speaker 5>Very conservative, very sheltered, very unhappy lifestyle was just meeting
<v Speaker 5>other people with different walks of life and then exploring
<v Speaker 5>my own self and sexuality.
<v Speaker 1>And it's only been uphill from there. So yeah, yeah,
<v Speaker 1>I've talked to a lot of people in the adult
<v Speaker 1>industry who came from a very conservative, you know, religious background,
<v Speaker 1>and they say that it's something that they still struggle with.
<v Speaker 1>Do you still feel like those shackles of shame?
<v Speaker 5>I'd say for probably until I was in my late twenties.
<v Speaker 5>I'm in my mid thirties now and I don't feel
<v Speaker 5>it as much anymore really at all. But it was
<v Speaker 5>a very, very hard through all of my twenties because
<v Speaker 5>I had to relearn my sexual boundaries. I had none
<v Speaker 5>because all I was taught was purity culture, so anything
<v Speaker 5>beyond that was a sin or unhealthy for me. So
<v Speaker 5>I didn't have good boundaries related to relationships. Or my
<v Speaker 5>sexual health. I was pretty divorced from my own sexuality,
<v Speaker 5>and what got me learning about myself was porn and
<v Speaker 5>producing my own amateur solo content, and that helped me
<v Speaker 5>explore my own kinks and fetishes and my desires and
<v Speaker 5>opened me up to a different world of pleasure.
<v Speaker 1>How do yours your family feel about your They know
<v Speaker 1>they know I hid it from them from as long
<v Speaker 1>as I could, but I think they found out from
<v Speaker 1>someone else. When I did finally tell them, I really
<v Speaker 1>thought I was going to be excommunicated because the last
<v Speaker 1>time that we had I had told them about myself.
<v Speaker 1>Really that's what they're what they had done.
<v Speaker 5>But I think I had broken them down over the
<v Speaker 5>years with so many different things. At this point what
<v Speaker 5>I told the mega think was like five six years ago.
<v Speaker 5>They were like they cried, but they were like, I mean, yeah.
<v Speaker 1>Look at you. So you know they think once you
<v Speaker 1>leave Christianity, of course you're gonna do Yeah, it's over.
<v Speaker 5>I mean, and I had gotten arrested for like activism stuff,
<v Speaker 5>and like have very different political views and things, so
<v Speaker 5>there was multiple things that like just over the years,
<v Speaker 5>they're like, okay.
<v Speaker 1>She's gone, Yeah, yeah, she's left the fold. I'm always curious,
<v Speaker 1>what's your relationship with religion and God.
<v Speaker 5>Now, I'd say that I have like a spiritual like tendency.
<v Speaker 5>I want to believe in something, but I don't. Actually,
<v Speaker 5>I don't believe in a god. And that's something I'm
<v Speaker 5>still trying to explore because I think after leaving Christianity,
<v Speaker 5>a lot of me for a long time was kind
<v Speaker 5>of just like dampening down any sort of spirituality or
<v Speaker 5>any sort of religion at all and not letting myself
<v Speaker 5>think about that because it had destroyed me in so
<v Speaker 5>many ways and had left me very unhealthy in multiple ways.
<v Speaker 5>But I think now I've healed so much that I'm
<v Speaker 5>to the point where I'm like, oh, I could think
<v Speaker 5>about other things now, I could open myself up to
<v Speaker 5>being like, hmmm, you know, I don't think face necessarily
<v Speaker 5>is a bad thing. I just think it can cause
<v Speaker 5>a lot of harm if you let it run your
<v Speaker 5>life and yeah, oppress other people.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah. It's interesting because you know, I had the completely
<v Speaker 1>opposite experience. I was raised as an atheist, right, and
<v Speaker 1>so when I kind of had to come to terms
<v Speaker 1>basically with my alcoholism, and I had to like find
<v Speaker 1>a way to look for like a spiritual look for
<v Speaker 1>some happier than myself, higher power, Thank you. I actually,
<v Speaker 1>like it was difficult for me because I had been,
<v Speaker 1>you know, taught that you know, God was a lie
<v Speaker 1>and all this kind of stuff. And my dad actually
<v Speaker 1>used to say that people who believed in Jesus were stupid,
<v Speaker 1>like straight up. But I found that actually, like it
<v Speaker 1>seemed to me to be easier for me to you know,
<v Speaker 1>find my own concept of like spirituality than it was
<v Speaker 1>for people who grew up with a very unforgiving God
<v Speaker 1>and a very strict religious background that they had to
<v Speaker 1>like completely reimagine a relation, a spiritual relationship, where I
<v Speaker 1>had never had one in the first place.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, you know, you like created the God.
<v Speaker 3>It's like, I think the problem with Christianity is the dogma.
<v Speaker 3>Like I think religion can be good, it's just like
<v Speaker 3>when you have rules that were written two thousand years
<v Speaker 3>ago and you're still trying to follow those, that can
<v Speaker 3>be troublesome.
<v Speaker 5>We had talked before about like some of the tenets
<v Speaker 5>of Satanism and what's like one of them, something about
<v Speaker 5>like the absurd or like having something that you believe
<v Speaker 5>in the face of the absurd. It can really be
