I got <v Speaker 1>one in here right now. <v Speaker 2>That's right, speaking. <v Speaker 5>About having a body's he's he's the haughty, the bad <v Speaker 5>boy of games media, and he's got a body count <v Speaker 5>that he's hiding in his basement. <v Speaker 6>My man, Oh, it's been naughty, too hotty with the <v Speaker 6>most banging body. How's it going? Everybody? <v Speaker 1>Do the kids say body count for sex partners? Now? <v Speaker 3>Yes? Oh, yes they do. <v Speaker 6>I feel like I've heard that used a couple of. <v Speaker 3>Times, and you got to stop bringing up sex. <v Speaker 1>Man, that's my whole gimmick, right, uh huh Yeah. I <v Speaker 1>feel like every once in a while I'll see a <v Speaker 1>term getting thrown around and like, I think the kids <v Speaker 1>are using this now locked in body count. <v Speaker 3>Body body count. They definite use BodyCount for that. Yes, okay, <v Speaker 3>that's uh I think I noticed on TikTok a few <v Speaker 3>months ago. <v Speaker 2>Oh okay, please, let's have a mini very online show. Wow, <v Speaker 2>are there any other terms you all would like clarification on. <v Speaker 1>I'm very late to even hearing because then some non TikTok, <v Speaker 1>I feel like I'm several months behind, Like like Jane, <v Speaker 1>you said, I got on the chapel oone train months <v Speaker 1>after it was grown up there elsewhere. BodyCount? I know, <v Speaker 1>now it's like several months behind. Yeah, y'all know Ohio <v Speaker 1>they were good. I know of Skibbity and Ohio. <v Speaker 3>Yes, o Hio. And what does Ohio mean? <v Speaker 2>Man? <v Speaker 6>Mid which means I think is it just bad? <v Speaker 2>It's like a little worse than. <v Speaker 3>Is in Ohio. Yeah, which one's cringe is that skibby? <v Speaker 3>One of them skilled cringe is cringe? <v Speaker 6>I thought skippity was a sus now that was during study? <v Speaker 2>Is bad? <v Speaker 3>Skippy is like you're a like a bad or evil thing? <v Speaker 2>Evil evil? <v Speaker 3>Well, yes, but but you children comprehend really. <v Speaker 2>Though, No, yeah, they're not old enough to comprehend good <v Speaker 2>and bad problems. <v Speaker 6>Don't care about children. You clarified that, yester, of course. <v Speaker 2>Yes, yes, boys, it's been a week. Uh y'all, y'all <v Speaker 2>are fresh off of the race track just now. We <v Speaker 2>we did the Astra Invitational two right before this really <v Speaker 2>really setting the world to blaze. My friends, you. <v Speaker 3>Guys ever gonna give me competition or what? <v Speaker 2>Yeah? <v Speaker 1>A thousands of a second behind you right now? <v Speaker 3>Grab, I am coming to shoot and the shoot leaderboard. <v Speaker 3>I just mean, like for the people were putting on <v Speaker 3>a show. <v Speaker 6>Tell you what for the invitation, I thought I had <v Speaker 6>no chance. I was pretty happy with myself. <v Speaker 3>Yeah, yeah, because you kind of came in kind of hot. <v Speaker 1>I did have a better one than you during that stream. <v Speaker 6>For the record, I didn't count. <v Speaker 3>I think I had one in the well, yeah, that's right, <v Speaker 3>you did have a good one in the sevens, right. <v Speaker 1>I have a it's literally eight thousands of a second <v Speaker 1>behind yours. Yours is like seven four oh, I'm like <v Speaker 1>seven four eight or something. <v Speaker 3>I had a coup I had a couple. I think <v Speaker 3>I got a couple of seven six oh's like off <v Speaker 3>stream off camera. <v Speaker 6>I mean right, Dan h that new Sonic game that's <v Speaker 6>actually like good. It has it has leaderboards? Oh real <v Speaker 6>friendsless leaderboards, Arnie one? Are you playing a PC PlayStation? <v Speaker 6>Dan Ross? <v Speaker 1>I want to play that this weekend out. I got <v Speaker 1>a busy tomorrow, but I want to play Sonic. I <v Speaker 1>want to play Batman VR, and I want to play <v Speaker 1>Call of Duty. Uh. Those, so I got a few <v Speaker 1>that I want to. <v Speaker 2>Get to this weekend. <v Speaker 3>It could be a busy weekend. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, I'm interested in checking out Batman also, but I'm <v Speaker 2>afraid i'm a yack. <v Speaker 1>It's pretty good at that as far as the actual <v Speaker 1>because I turned on you know, there's like, oh, do <v Speaker 1>you want to do baby Mode VR or do you <v Speaker 1>want to do like I won't Puke Mode? I did, <v Speaker 1>I won't Puke Mode and it's like throw all of <v Speaker 1>it at me, and even then I didn't get and <v Speaker 1>I will get a little queasy, you know with the <v Speaker 1>VR we getna. <v Speaker 2>Anyone's checking out Call of Duty this weekend? Yeah? <v Speaker 6>Download play a little bit of it. <v Speaker 1>I want to play campaign. I used to play all <v Speaker 1>the campaigns uh and I kind of stopped around, like <v Speaker 1>w W two, like that that one from Sledgehammer. But <v Speaker 1>I've heard this one is good and I liked. I <v Speaker 1>just like the black ops like coldor intrigue stuff. I <v Speaker 1>think that's fun. So like, I want to play that. <v Speaker 1>He probably kills it, I'm saying or something. Yeah, Bill, <v Speaker 1>George W. <v Speaker 6>Can't play? Is George W? <v Speaker 1>Yeah? Yes, yeah, No, I'm gonna play it. <v Speaker 3>That would yeah. <v Speaker 6>Throw a shoe, that'd be uh so good. I haven't <v Speaker 6>played cod campaign since advanced warfare? <v Speaker 3>What what was the moment in modern warfare? Is that <v Speaker 3>like someone like tossed you a knife and then you <v Speaker 3>throw it at the first one, right, do that? But <v Speaker 3>with the shoes? <v Speaker 1>That would sam Eli because you're on the ground. The <v Speaker 1>sam Eliot boys, the guards, he just look like Sam Elliott. <v Speaker 3>There's two are you thinking of a not soap? <v Speaker 1>But no, but there's a there's a gray haired guy <v Speaker 1>that does a heel turn and I thought it was <v Speaker 1>Sam Ellis at the end of Shock. <v Speaker 6>I don't think a verse war day you remember more <v Speaker 6>about this than I do. <v Speaker 3>The general yeah, I know the general. I don't know <v Speaker 3>if he was. <v Speaker 1>Saying he was saying Shepherd, Shepherd. I think that sounded. <v Speaker 3>They're saying Shepherd with a question mark though. <v Speaker 6>So general Shepherd. <v Speaker 3>Yeah, yeah, okay, that sounds possible. Yeah. Yeah, he turned <v Speaker 3>bad and it turned out that the h that he <v Speaker 3>was controlling the people that were being terrible. <v Speaker 6>Yeah, what military rank would you do? You wish you <v Speaker 6>had the most because you think it sounds cool. <v Speaker 1>Brigadier General's right the answer. I think it'd be pretty <v Speaker 1>funny if you were lieutenant Dan that so, I know <v Speaker 1>that's a reference though. Yeah, you would love Forrest Gump. <v Speaker 1>I've seen person of it. I know we ran and <v Speaker 1>went to war. <v Speaker 2>For We ate at the restaurant. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, it's just like yeah yeah, and then free birds <v Speaker 1>in it. Yeah. <v Speaker 2>Oh god. What was the beverage we had again? That <v Speaker 2>was glorious. <v Speaker 6>The beer beer arita. <v Speaker 2>That was good. <v Speaker 6>We could be there in eight days. We're gonna be <v Speaker 6>back up. <v Speaker 1>Of a gum. <v Speaker 3>You know. <v Speaker 6>I go there for you, Mike. I appreciate that. Dad. <v Speaker 6>It's like when you take a kid. <v Speaker 1>To McDonald's play place and like I'll sit over here. <v Speaker 1>Well you have fun. <v Speaker 3>Yeah, yeah, yeah, hey, listen, I like that they go <v Speaker 3>and entertain themselves. I get to sit there and be clear. <v Speaker 6>Sometimes you don't have to take me to the Mall <v Speaker 6>of America if you'd rather take me to like more exciting <v Speaker 6>local places. I don't what you do. <v Speaker 3>You seem so happy you America. <v Speaker 1>We'll see okay, because I think it's him and Kayla <v Speaker 1>getting in around the same time, and uh, Sean walking there. <v Speaker 6>Yeah, Sean's walking, he's running like forced. <v Speaker 3>Come. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, Kayla will go anywhere she's so, she's she's easy. Uh, <v Speaker 1>maybe she'll be fine with all of America's about the <v Speaker 1>airport two. So yeah, what America too. I don't know <v Speaker 1>when he's coming in. Maybe we all go. <v Speaker 3>Fun. <v Speaker 6>Sean wants to see that Nickelodeon theme park, which is <v Speaker 6>pretty cool. <v Speaker 1>Yeah yeah, okay, Okay. <v Speaker 6>There's a Lego store there too, and maybe I need <v Speaker 6>to finally just go and buy that freaking home alone <v Speaker 6>Lego set. It looks so freaking good. You know what <v Speaker 6>I have here. <v Speaker 1>I'm just trying to finish up the Millennium Falcon Lego <v Speaker 1>by the time you guys get here, so that table <v Speaker 1>can be used for like pizza or whatever. <v Speaker 2>Uh. <v Speaker 1>And then I've got the Decu tree and the Mario <v Speaker 1>on Yoshi thing ready to go, so put those together. <v Speaker 2>Next. Yeah, I saw the announce the X Mansion set, <v Speaker 2>and I really really don't need it, but I really <v Speaker 2>want it for some reason. They're putting Beast in a <v Speaker 2>mini blind bag, so you can get pretty much all <v Speaker 2>the other X men except Beast. I wouldn't put Beast <v Speaker 2>behind one of those. <v Speaker 6>I tell you. That's one of my favorite character archetypes though, <v Speaker 6>like the strong guy but actually he wears reading glasses <v Speaker 6>and has books. <v Speaker 2>The beast of this gang? Are you the beast of <v Speaker 2>this gang? Like I'm a beast baby? <v Speaker 1>Now, wouldn't that be Grub? I feel like Grub would <v Speaker 1>actually be useful in a fight where it's like no <v Speaker 1>Beast is useful enough. <v Speaker 2>Grub would be. <v Speaker 1>I'm saying about Marshall Prowess. <v Speaker 6>I believe Grub as we beat. <v Speaker 3>Absolutely, That's what I go around saying. <v Speaker 1>With one of these guys and ship went down. I'm <v Speaker 1>sorry I did body stare, but to like one of <v Speaker 1>my friends who actual he had bustles, like, yeah. <v Speaker 2>But Dan, what the fight in the world? <v Speaker 1>Though? Is uh going to a bar just with Samoa <v Speaker 1>Joe and then oh god, I wanted someone to start <v Speaker 1>shipped before. But I went to a Brooklyn bar just <v Speaker 1>with Smoa Joe once and I was like, please someone <v Speaker 1>start ship. <v Speaker 6>That'd be incredible that I did not. We just got <v Speaker 6>drunk and talk. <v Speaker 2>About right now, now, Dan, what if the fight was against. <v Speaker 1>Grubmoa Joe, wouldn't Somoa Joe is not in this equation <v Speaker 1>going to the previous hypothetical where you there's a scuffle, <v Speaker 1>but the scuffle is and Grub is on the other side. <v Speaker 1>I'm throwing Mike Manatti in Grub's way and I'm getting <v Speaker 1>the fuck out of there. <v Speaker 6>Maybe I'll be an obstacle. Maybe he'll hesitate for a moment. <v Speaker 3>You'll want some kind of flash back, recognize your humanity, <v Speaker 3>Like I know this man. <v Speaker 6>You remember going to were in line for Star Wars <v Speaker 6>battle Front together. <v Speaker 2>Something that's a single tear will roll down Grub's eyes. <v Speaker 6>Yeah, it's getting getting Corneyland. <v Speaker 2>Something I really want to squeeze in another Disney trip <v Speaker 2>while we're down. <v Speaker 3>And yeah, we haven't talked about that. We could try <v Speaker 3>to do that because we haven't. <v Speaker 1>Oh, I booked today. <v Speaker 2>I booked myself really we're supposed to book it. <v Speaker 3>I was not wet today. <v Speaker 6>Okay, yeah, I mean if that's difficult. Universe is always <v Speaker 6>easier from where we are. <v Speaker 2>It's not the same magic, though, you know. <v Speaker 6>It's it's a different magic. <v Speaker 1>It's you have a big I do enjoy all of <v Speaker 1>those properties at Universal more than I enjoyed the Disney. <v Speaker 2>Water I guess. Yeah, And you might get stopping wet again. <v Speaker 1>That's fine, I'll get wet. <v Speaker 2>Okay, all right, remind me to talk to YouTube about <v Speaker 2>something immediately after the show that is not gonna cause <v Speaker 2>uh rumor that before. <v Speaker 3>Yeah, but I forgot who's the we also lost time? <v Speaker 2>You two what it about? <v Speaker 1>Give a hint. <v Speaker 2>No, don't worry. <v Speaker 6>I think I know what it is. <v Speaker 2>Oh, Mike, you I mean, it's just okay, we're going <v Speaker 2>to have a mini meeting after this, and Mike, you <v Speaker 2>tell me what you think. I'm going to say, I'm <v Speaker 2>too curious. <v Speaker 3>No, Mike knows, because he remembers when you told me. <v Speaker 6>I don't know was there. I'm curious a similar concern. <v Speaker 6>I know what it is. <v Speaker 2>Discord me after. It's not that I'm too curious. <v Speaker 6>I'm gonna be wondering a whole time. Right now, I'm <v Speaker 6>going to write in this chat right now. <v Speaker 2>This Yeah, nothing gets shown in the chat. Okay, okay, okay, <v Speaker 2>all right? Did I get anyway? <v Speaker 6>That's boring? <v Speaker 2>What I don't know. <v Speaker 3>Why you built it up so much? Dan, He's like, <v Speaker 3>let's have a word. <v Speaker 1>And Jan was also wrong. Mike was also wrong, based <v Speaker 1>only it was right to be fair. <v Speaker 2>No, well no, not that, not that. <v Speaker 3>It's close. It's tangent. <v Speaker 6>It's a great podcast, going crazy. <v Speaker 2>I am not leaving the website, damn it. <v Speaker 6>I'm going to think you are until I hear otherwise. <v Speaker 2>Dan, I am not leaving the website. That's not what <v Speaker 2>I'm talking to you to about. You just heard otherwise, Dan, <v Speaker 2>crub discord me. I'll no sell it is it not <v Speaker 2>just how. <v Speaker 6>I want to know what it is you know later? <v Speaker 3>Okay, okay, all right, anyway, it was really nice working <v Speaker 3>with you, Jan. <v Speaker 1>That was Oh but Jan, you know what? Yeah, that's <v Speaker 1>how could you turn that down? You know, I can't <v Speaker 1>believe you would leave me with the memory. <v Speaker 6>I did just get it. <v Speaker 3>I got a message. <v Speaker 1>I got a message from someone on staff saying Jane's leaving. <v Speaker 2>They could just message you that but that wouldn't be real. <v Speaker 1>We're all leaving otherwise from someone on the skull oh man, <v Speaker 1>all right, yep, that's right, guys. <v Speaker 2>I'm leaving for kind of funny East Way. <v Speaker 6>We got a message is that the grubs say that. <v Speaker 2>Where are you reading this? Now? This is okay? <v Speaker 3>Okay, it was a good bit. This the whole thing <v Speaker 3>that we're doing. It was fun because it's like, oh, <v Speaker 3>they're being stupid. But now it's legitimately annoying. <v Speaker 6>I presure need to know or all go crazy. <v Speaker 2>Okay, I'll put it in our discord after I talk <v Speaker 2>about what the week's hot topic is. Okay, all right, <v Speaker 2>this week's topic. <v Speaker 6>Can we start the show now? <v Speaker 2>This week's hot topic is we are going to be <v Speaker 2>crowding the Mount Rushmore of scary games. I was so <v Speaker 2>scared my gogsler was gonna break. Jeff Grubb, Please I <v Speaker 2>consider you the Mount Rushmore officionado. What what determines a <v Speaker 2>Mount Rushmore? <v Speaker 6>Yeah? <v Speaker 3>Yeah, So it's always important to keep in mind, not <v Speaker 3>necessarily always going to be these are the four best <v Speaker 3>games in the genre. It is the maybe foremost important. <v Speaker 3>Maybe I always say emblematic things that represent what you <v Speaker 3>want to represent when you say something like scary games. Now, <v Speaker 3>do we want to like get more specific on scary <v Speaker 3>games or are we just gonna say like survival horror games. <v Speaker 1>I think we can just say scary because like the <v Speaker 1>scary games that aren't in that genre specifically, you know. <v Speaker 3>And we're not talking like, oh, spooky, So it's not <v Speaker 3>Luigi's Mansion three, right, Like that's not. <v Speaker 1>Scared the shit out of you. I mean you can <v Speaker 1>bring it up. <v Speaker 3>Okay, No, yeah, that's pretty that's that. But that's what <v Speaker 3>the definition I'm going for. So we're not talking about like, oh, <v Speaker 3>just it's Halloween theme, it's got monsters actually scary, yeah. <v Speaker 2>Grub question, are are we limited to one entry per <v Speaker 2>I p. <v Speaker 3>At all we can have? I think the best way <v Speaker 3>to handle those situations is to have the conversation. So <v Speaker 3>if you want to put more than one I p <v Speaker 3>up there for consideration, you're gonna have to make the <v Speaker 3>argument for why these two games from the same franchise <v Speaker 3>should be keeping off something fresh. <v Speaker 1>Just to pay off the storyline for the chat Jan <v Speaker 1>has updated me and it's it's boring. <v Speaker 2>No, because there's other factors in it, all right, sure, <v Speaker 2>but it's it's boring. <v Speaker 1>Okay, it's boring. <v Speaker 2>I I'm I'm actually just leaving. <v Speaker 3>Sales for Jesus. <v Speaker 1>Ok So, yes, I mean we could argue a couple <v Speaker 1>from U, but yeah, Grub said it. You got to <v Speaker 1>make the argument if it's more. <v Speaker 6>Than one, and it is kind of gets it point, like, look, <v Speaker 6>it could it could be a whole list of risky <v Speaker 6>games a baby. We don't want to do that, sure, yeah, <v Speaker 6>I mean, or. <v Speaker 3>Maybe we do, but they would have to be all <v Speaker 3>the other games had to be terrible, and I just <v Speaker 3>don't think that's gonna. <v Speaker 1>Happen scary games. <v Speaker 6>When you did like thirty like the mounta risk wore <v Speaker 6>three D platformers, It's like there might be two Marios <v Speaker 6>on there, deal with it. But yeah, right, did we <v Speaker 6>do that three D platformers? I think might have done it. <v Speaker 1>That would have had to be like four like or <v Speaker 1>three Marios in an astrobob But that's I guess that <v Speaker 1>different podcast. <v Speaker 3>It might have been. <v Speaker 2>That's a sick tom if I've ever heard one. <v Speaker 3>Yeah, and I think we did it after Astro came out, right, <v Speaker 3>so maybe okay? Yeah, okay, so uh, we're who wants <v Speaker 3>to start here with? Throw some stuff out. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, I heard you guys last night talking about moments, <v Speaker 1>and like the dog thing is like the number one <v Speaker 1>all timer scary thing that's ever happened in a game. <v Speaker 1>We all remember that, we all got scared shitless. It's <v Speaker 1>that first great scare in the Great Scary series. And <v Speaker 1>ARI One, like I don't know, it was like ARI One, <v Speaker 1>I believe came out before because it came out in <v Speaker 1>ninety six, was set in ninety eight, right, so it <v Speaker 1>would have been a couple years before Middle of Your Solid. <v Speaker 1>So like, even though it's not like cinematic on the <v Speaker 1>level of like a metal gear, it was still early <v Speaker 1>on in that like CD ROM Oh shit, we've got <v Speaker 1>voice acting, we've got a story. They're doing these cinematic <v Speaker 1>angles and everything. It really came at the right time. <v Speaker 2>This is a. <v Speaker 1>Completely different experience that I've never had before, and they <v Speaker 1>did it so well right out of the gate. <v Speaker 6>Yeah. Yeah, I think sometimes people forget about, oh, nineteen <v Speaker 6>niney six, Like this is like as much a three <v Speaker 6>D gaming pioneer as Mario sixty four is, which is <v Speaker 6>impressive and obviously doing a very different thing. Yeah, you know, <v Speaker 6>it reads is pretty camping now, but at the time <v Speaker 6>I did to think it was camping. I thought it <v Speaker 6>was pretty actually scary. And if that campingess like detracts <v Speaker 6>from it actually being frightening for you, well you can <v Speaker 6>go and play the remake that they did in the <v Speaker 6>game Cuber, which is still actually pretty legitimately scary, and <v Speaker 6>it's still a very good looking game, the best rendered <v Speaker 6>backgrounds you probably will ever see. Yeah, and like there <v Speaker 6>might be scarier resident eual games, uh now for sure, <v Speaker 6>but there's something about this game that is still a <v Speaker 6>good bounce of some jump scares, a lot of just <v Speaker 6>tense moments and creepiness. And also like, yeah, it started <v Speaker 6>the survival horror genre right, Like I wasn't thinking about <v Speaker 6>scary video games really being a thing before this. I <v Speaker 6>know they were out there, but this opened the floodgates <v Speaker 6>on that genre. <v Speaker 1>Well another thing you mentioned, they were like quieter moments <v Speaker 1>and it's not just the dog, it's not just the <v Speaker 1>zombie turning around. Like when I think about it, I <v Speaker 1>equally remember like, Okay, this is just a big dining <v Speaker 1>hall and all I can hear is the ticking of <v Speaker 1>a grandfather clock that's like echoing across the floor, and <v Speaker 1>it's like that is just such a spooky vibe. It's <v Speaker 1>not constantly throwing shit at you, but then when it <v Speaker 1>does throw shit at you, like oh, here's the hunters, <v Speaker 1>then you're it's like shit your pants, Like, oh god, <v Speaker 1>I'm in trouble with feeling. <v Speaker 6>It's so smart because it's you know, it's a haunted house, <v Speaker 6>Like that's what it is. It's a haunted house, and <v Speaker 6>it's kind of Metroidvania esque. You're sort of repeating areas, <v Speaker 6>you're thinking about your resources. Even that's scary, right, like, oh, man, <v Speaker 6>like I may not going to shoot this zombie because <v Speaker 6>I don't have them eight bullets. I kind of have <v Speaker 6>to like weave around it. And that's tense. Is getting <v Speaker 6>hit one time could be a very big problem. <v Speaker 1>Thing is there is a reason I don't think I <v Speaker 1>beat a Resident Evil game until four because I owned them. <v Speaker 1>I played them. But it's like I could not even <v Speaker 1>get the concept of like Ammo conservation. I played everything <v Speaker 1>like an action game, so it's like I see an enemy, <v Speaker 1>I need to kill the enemy. So like I never <v Speaker 1>weaved around zombies, I never conserved Ammo, and so I <v Speaker 1>would always just get to a point halfway through the game, <v Speaker 1>where it's like I'm fucked. I guess I'm not playing <v Speaker 1>this game. So yeah, it was a whole different way <v Speaker 1>of playing games. It's not just kill everything you see. <v Speaker 3>Yeah, and I think I because it did more than <v Speaker 3>just the haunted House thing, was like very good. Good <v Speaker 3>for me because it's like, oh, for me, monsters were <v Speaker 3>just these enemies have a different flavor, but these actually <v Speaker 3>felt like monsters, like Halloween style monsters, and that went <v Speaker 3>a long way for me. And then I think the <v Speaker 3>sound design was that, like it actually goes a long <v Speaker 3>way as well, where like everything sounds creepy and goofy <v Speaker 3>and and evil, and yeah, that were commedy and. <v Speaker 6>There's a giant's name. <v Speaker 1>Tirants cool Wester. Like all the FMV stuff that intro <v Speaker 1>is amazing. <v Speaker 3>I mean, even the way the mechanics are set up <v Speaker 3>like it's a survival horror game like back then, having <v Speaker 3>to have the the the ink ribbons and trying to <v Speaker 3>get through a part that was like I'm scared, but <v Speaker 3>I got to get through this or else I'm not <v Speaker 3>going to be able to save and that increases the <v Speaker 3>tension kind of just makes the whole thing. <v Speaker 6>I get why games won't do that anymore. But it <v Speaker 6>was like incredible. Even saving is this like tense decision, like, <v Speaker 6>oh is it worth saving you right now? Everything about <v Speaker 6>that game just builds up tension in this really pleasant way. <v Speaker 6>And also like it's so neat that you do have <v Speaker 6>two characters. You can play it as uh Jill or <v Speaker 6>as Chris, and it's different experiences in a lot of ways. <v Speaker 1>I probably loaded the game up once as Chris and <v Speaker 1>saw the six inventory slots. It's like, fuck that nowhere <v Speaker 1>near up with eight? Like fu right. <v Speaker 6>It doesn't even know how to play the piano. It <v Speaker 6>has to get Rebecca to do that, doesn't have a <v Speaker 6>lock pick, Like yeah, no, no. <v Speaker 2>Master of anything. No, I'll go next. And I'm really <v Speaker 2>torn here a doctor, it's on the BombCast dock, I <v Speaker 2>got it. Oh, keep in tally cool. I'm really torn here, gents, <v Speaker 2>because I know that Silent Hill two is the more <v Speaker 2>popular game, but Silent Hill one scared the shit out <v Speaker 2>of me as a child and as a full grown adult. <v Speaker 2>You think the atmosphere that it sets and like really <v Speaker 2>using the limitations of the PlayStation one but really utilizing <v Speaker 2>the fog really well. And I think kind of being <v Speaker 2>in a different vein than Resident Evil, where you do <v Speaker 2>have weapons, you do have a means of getting rid <v Speaker 2>of enemies, but you're really really fucked if you get <v Speaker 2>yourself into a bad situation. And then the puzzles and <v Speaker 2>the atmosphere of going back and forth so much similar <v Speaker 2>to Resident Evil. Yes, but I feel like, uh, the <v Speaker 2>the atmosphere that it was presenting, and just like the <v Speaker 2>sound design, uh, especially goofy sounds. I wouldn't say schalorpy sounds. <v Speaker 2>Schilorpy is like a parenthesis positive right, Yeah, But like <v Speaker 2>Silent Hill won for whatever reason, and it was really <v Speaker 2>it's tough for me to say Silent Hill one versus two, <v Speaker 2>especially after playing through uh the sound Hill to remake, <v Speaker 2>which is really well done. But Silent Hill won for <v Speaker 2>whatever reason. Maybe because it ends on a zanier note, <v Speaker 2>or maybe it has like all the trappings that I <v Speaker 2>look for. Maybe it reminds me more of a Twin <v Speaker 2>Peaks and like the weird religious stuff at the end <v Speaker 2>of it. I would like to nominate Silent Hill one <v Speaker 2>over Silent Hill two. <v Speaker 1>I'm with you because both of them, I feel like <v Speaker 1>I rented and god like I played through like it <v Speaker 1>did with Resident Eevil. It's basically every survival organ and <v Speaker 1>I remember being more scared by one. I just remember <v Speaker 1>the tone being so scary and being so different than <v Speaker 1>Resident Evil in like that psychological way rather than the <v Speaker 1>jump scare way. And two I just remember getting more <v Speaker 1>frustrated by it. My memory of two was always just <v Speaker 1>like trying to open doors and apartment building and they're <v Speaker 1>all locked, and that I just got bored and frustrated <v Speaker 1>with it, whereas one, I just remember like going going <v Speaker 1>into the school and there's weird like little ghost children <v Speaker 1>and stuff, and. <v Speaker 6>I remember just being way way creepier to me. I mean, <v Speaker 6>I haven't played one. I only played sound Hill two. <v Speaker 6>I played that Remax recently and I was very very <v Speaker 6>impressed by it. So, you know, so I can't really <v Speaker 6>say if it's creepier scarier than one, I'm gonna have <v Speaker 6>to go with you two on it. But yeah, I'd <v Speaker 6>be completely fine if it was sound Hill two for consideration, <v Speaker 6>is all I'm saying something. <v Speaker 2>Or there are parts of Silent Hill too, like in <v Speaker 2>retrospect and where it feels like to me, And you know, <v Speaker 2>this is going to be very different than how other <v Speaker 2>people experience the game because they played it when they <v Speaker 2>were much younger, and I played as an adult. But <v Speaker 2>there's parts of two where it feels a little heavy <v Speaker 2>handed and it feels like it is trying to tell <v Speaker 2>you more through its metaphors rather than to scare you, <v Speaker 2>because like the opening of sound Hill one did like <v Speaker 2>to stick with me and was very unnerving for a while. <v Speaker 6>Yeah, I will say it's it's almost more psychological sound <v Speaker 6>Hill two. You know, part of it is, I guess <v Speaker 6>it's not really doing like a lot of things like <v Speaker 6>jump scares or whatnot. I kind of like having a <v Speaker 6>few jump scares in these games sometimes, right, it gets <v Speaker 6>the hard you know, the dog going through the window. Right, <v Speaker 6>it's kind of what keeps you, uh, sort of excited <v Speaker 6>and on edge a little bit. <v Speaker 3>Yeah, that was my questions. Like, yeah, the sound Hill too. <v Speaker 3>I know it's famous for exploring the trauma of the <v Speaker 3>characters and and all the enemies represent sort of inner turmoil. <v Speaker 3>I never knew Sound Hill one was exactly the same, <v Speaker 3>or if it was like more about setting and the <v Speaker 3>fog and the uneasiness and stuff like that. <v Speaker 2>I think because it was like the first game to <v Speaker 2>try and hit uneasiness like that, it felt like he <v Speaker 2>was using those tools more rather than trying to deal <v Speaker 2>with these psychological internal right, or just like the flog <v Speaker 2>played such a big deal, like roaming around and realizing like, oh, <v Speaker 2>I really am limited eating my AMMO in my weapons, <v Speaker 2>and like even my actions against the enemies. <v Speaker 3>I'll nominate one if we're ready. Yeah, yeah, PT. I <v Speaker 3>think that we're just talking about something that scares people <v Speaker 3>as a game. I don't think we need to like <v Speaker 3>dismiss this just because it's the playable teaser, that's the name. <v Speaker 3>It is very scary and it is a game, and <v Speaker 3>it was so influential that basically Resident Evil had to <v Speaker 3>kind of follow it up and be like, well we <v Speaker 3>should probab maybe have more similarities to that going forward. <v Speaker 3>PT just is a really condensed horror experience of putting <v Speaker 3>you in this hallway, having you go through that hallway <v Speaker 3>over and over again. You have expectations of how things <v Speaker 3>will work, and then it begins messing with you. It <v Speaker 3>lulls you into a false sense of security, and then <v Speaker 3>always sort of delivers on an undermining that sense of <v Speaker 3>security and the most horrifying way. Often often I think <v Speaker 3>Lisa's showing up down the hallway. It's just especially because <v Speaker 3>the visuals that Fox Engine was so good with that <v Speaker 3>lightning and the shadow of the character at into the hallway, <v Speaker 3>it looks so realistic that it was petrifying just to <v Speaker 3>take another step down the hallway, and then and then <v Speaker 3>it was it's this fun little puzzle box as well <v Speaker 3>of trying to figure out how these things work and <v Speaker 3>interact with one another, how to actually clear the game <v Speaker 3>so you could see the little treat at the end. <v Speaker 3>It's just really well done all around. And in terms <v Speaker 3>of atmosphere and visuals and and tension, it nails all <v Speaker 3>of those. It's about its about as good as any <v Speaker 3>horror game ever has. <v Speaker 1>And I wish I would have played it more. I <v Speaker 1>mean I downloaded when it came out. I played like <v Speaker 1>maybe five or ten minutes a bit and I was like, okay, cool, <v Speaker 1>Well I'm curious what this turns into. You know, it's <v Speaker 1>a thing of like I like, waiting till the poll <v Speaker 1>game's out, and so. <v Speaker 3>I never Yeah, but that was never That was never <v Speaker 3>going to be the full game. There's gonna be a <v Speaker 3>whole other thing. <v Speaker 6>I get that now. <v Speaker 1>The Island Hills thing was going to be the thing <v Speaker 1>but I was like, I think I was like, maybe <v Speaker 1>that's why I didn't take it serious and didn't really <v Speaker 1>play it. But I do thinking it did have a <v Speaker 1>good atmosphere. I just like, I don't think I got <v Speaker 1>to least in the hallway or anything like that. <v Speaker 2>Yeah. Yeah, and we can't overlook and I grub You <v Speaker 2>talked about how it kind of overhauled Resident Evil, but <v Speaker 2>it inspired a whole new generation of yeahs horror games. <v Speaker 3>Yes, absolutely there. Every horor game was trying to be <v Speaker 3>PT for a while. <v Speaker 1>Yeah. <v Speaker 2>Like now if you look at indie horror games, it's <v Speaker 2>either trying to be a PS one game, a Resident Evil, <v Speaker 2>Silent Hill, or a PT. <v Speaker 3>Like yeah, definitely, that's that's still happening. <v Speaker 1>Uh, let me nominate Amnesia, the first one. I remember <v Speaker 1>playing that, and uh, it was just the idea of <v Speaker 1>like you can't even fight back, like, oh, this horrifying <v Speaker 1>thing is here, I don't even quite know what it <v Speaker 1>looks like, and all I can do is like hide <v Speaker 1>underneath the desk and turn off my light or whatever. <v Speaker 1>I remember playing that at night one night, all the <v Speaker 1>lights were out, middle of the night, my girlfriend at <v Speaker 1>the time was asleep, and I remember like she came <v Speaker 1>out to ask me a question or something at one point, <v Speaker 1>and I seriously like threw my headset off and like, yeah, <v Speaker 1>it's like not many games have gotten that reaction out <v Speaker 1>of me, so uh yeah, and it's just great. <v Speaker 2>Uh skipped the first do you want to do? You <v Speaker 2>want to nominate two? If you got them? <v Speaker 3>No? <v Speaker 6>No, I went first. We're good, We're good, but you <v Speaker 6>went first. <v Speaker 3>Oh. <v Speaker 6>I kind of jumped in there a resident e boy. <v Speaker 6>I think did I heard mind making that up? <v Speaker 3>Kind of like we just all just kind of said, right, well, that's. <v Speaker 6>Fine, I'll go but yeah, good. I haven't played it <v Speaker 6>yet because I was a Caliver so long, but that <v Speaker 6>one comes up a lot from other people as specifically <v Speaker 6>just for being scary. I think Dead Space, you could say, <v Speaker 6>the original or the remake. I think that that flavor <v Speaker 6>of sci fi horror is always really interesting, right, They're <v Speaker 6>always kind of chasing that alien dream, which is a <v Speaker 6>good dream to chase. There's only very specific about how <v Speaker 6>that kind of scary is scary. You know, an abandoned <v Speaker 6>space station with stuff half working and just blood smeared <v Speaker 6>all over the walls. And I do like that, you know, <v Speaker 6>it is a bit more action heavy, right, it's taking <v Speaker 6>stuff from Resident Evil four, but it is scarier than <v Speaker 6>a Resident Evil four. It doesn't necessarily feel like a <v Speaker 6>full blown action game, especially since you had to be <v Speaker 6>so precise. Yeah, well, maybe isn't Resident Evil one scarce, <v Speaker 6>but you are being a little bit careful and it <v Speaker 6>is much, you know, beneficial to actually think about shooting <v Speaker 6>off the lambs and not just spamming your shots at <v Speaker 6>these people. But it is so much just that atmosphere <v Speaker 6>of this spaceship space station and going to all these <v Speaker 6>different places in the way that they're you know, tricking <v Speaker 6>you with lights with the Ui Ui SOVERI good in <v Speaker 6>that game. So yeah, that space stands out for me. <v Speaker 2>Awesome, wonderful. Hmm okay, I uh, I want to nominate <v Speaker 2>Resident Evil seven. <v Speaker 1>Yes, that is the one. <v Speaker 2>I'm yeah, so I was. I had. My expectations were <v Speaker 2>very low post six, despite enjoying playing six with one <v Speaker 2>of my good friends. I just thought that they Resident <v Speaker 2>Evil had jumped the shark and that we weren't going <v Speaker 2>to be super horror focused anymore. We've kind of hit <v Speaker 2>like the action tone or whatever. But this was such <v Speaker 2>a good reset for the series that it feels like <v Speaker 2>it's completely obliterated the mental presence in my head at <v Speaker 2>least a five and six because this is so tang <v Speaker 2>scary and one of the only instances where I was <v Speaker 2>that friend at a party that refuses to be in <v Speaker 2>a room while a game is being played, and then <v Speaker 2>I got made to play it in VR because I <v Speaker 2>was being a baby about Oh hell yeah. <v Speaker 1>The dr aspect can't be understated here. You know, I'm <v Speaker 1>not the biggest VR fan, but like I do think <v Speaker 1>playing that game in VR is probably the scariest video <v Speaker 1>game experience I've ever had. <v Speaker 3>And I can't imagine something scarier. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, yeah, and it's it's I'll never forget. I was <v Speaker 1>sitting next to a bonk and she hadn't done a <v Speaker 1>lot of VR at the time, and I was like, <v Speaker 1>all right, give it a shot, and she was in <v Speaker 1>a safe room. I put the VR on PSVR and <v Speaker 1>then it was like it was the part We're supposed <v Speaker 1>to go down into the basement and there's all the <v Speaker 1>weird goopy guys in like the cemetery or the crematorium place. <v Speaker 1>And I remember her like, Okay, I'm gonna go down <v Speaker 1>and I'm looking over at her because her character is <v Speaker 1>not moving down the stairs I can see on the <v Speaker 1>TV and I just see her chest start, like, oh okay, <v Speaker 1>she's trying to like work herself up to go down <v Speaker 1>a staircase and a video game. And if that was <v Speaker 1>just on the TV, you would just go down, you know. <v Speaker 1>But it is so so good and so scary and VR. <v Speaker 1>I would absolutely put that on there as the second <v Speaker 1>resident able. Yeah, that'd be the scariest resident. <v Speaker 6>Yeah, yeah, just about being the scariest, which isn't always <v Speaker 6>the case with these mount Rushmoor's right, sure, but yeah, <v Speaker 6>definitely the scariest. <v Speaker 2>Okay, Grub, I think it's in front. <v Speaker 3>Of you now, Okay, I wonder what you guys think <v Speaker 3>about Eternal Darkness, because I think there's some scary parts <v Speaker 3>in it here, are there? But I don't overall, I <v Speaker 3>think it's more like a fun sort of Cthulhu. What <v Speaker 3>is that love crafty and Eldritch thank you? Yes, Eldrich <v Speaker 3>themed horror adventure game where it's like kind of almost <v Speaker 3>action adventure and not super scary, but it is like <v Speaker 3>technically a scary game and the scary game genre. <v Speaker 1>I gotta say that seeing seeing Backlar play it, a <v Speaker 1>couple of years ago. Now we're think I wouldn't. I mean, <v Speaker 1>I know, we're playing like talking to our friends in <v Speaker 1>the daytime, but like it's you know, I. <v Speaker 6>Played through that game too again right before that. I <v Speaker 6>still thought it was fun, but you know whatever, it's <v Speaker 6>a frontloaded game with the scares. Like the scariest moment <v Speaker 6>from that game that everyone remembers is the bathtub, and <v Speaker 6>that's an incredible scare, right like when Jeff and I did, <v Speaker 6>I'm not rush more of scary moments that made it there. <v Speaker 6>Like after that, I'm like, what else was scary? And <v Speaker 6>there were definitely some things, but it definitely does kind <v Speaker 6>of fall off from the true horror aspect what you said. <v Speaker 6>It becomes more love crafting, which isn't personally my favorite <v Speaker 6>flavor of horror, so misses a little. <v Speaker 3>I do like that stuff, and I still don't think <v Speaker 3>it's like, it's not that scary. And then the sanity <v Speaker 3>effects they are very cool the first time. Yeah yeah, <v Speaker 3>but it's uh yeah, So I'm I'm like, Okay, well, <v Speaker 3>if not that one, what else would I put up there? <v Speaker 3>I mean I would be like, hey, maybe five nights <v Speaker 3>at Freddy's. But I don't think it's gonna make our cut. <v Speaker 2>I don't think it would make our mount rush more. Yeah, <v Speaker 2>just because I feel like that's way past we're past <v Speaker 2>away target demo for it. <v Speaker 3>Yeah, I played, I played. I played that first one <v Speaker 3>and thought like, yeah, I like this, this is a <v Speaker 3>you know, it's not much, but it's it's playing around <v Speaker 3>with that fun animatronics and and how I just think <v Speaker 3>those things are scary on their own, and this game <v Speaker 3>is playing around in that space really well. But I <v Speaker 3>don't know, it's not going to probably make our list. <v Speaker 6>It's five Nights of Friday, just the modern seventh Guest, <v Speaker 6>and also should we talk about seventh guests? <v Speaker 3>I mean it's the modern night trap. <v Speaker 6>Really, I will call you a boomer and I'm older <v Speaker 6>than you. Yeah, where's the seventh Guest? The seventh Guests <v Speaker 6>mattered back in nineteen ninety three Darted, It helped sell CD, <v Speaker 6>Wrong Drives. <v Speaker 2>FMV okay, okay, So we have two kind of nominations. <v Speaker 2>Mike Manatti, I think the wheels back in front of <v Speaker 2>you unless we want to start cutting stuff or. <v Speaker 6>To bring up the Alan Wake games. And I'm trying <v Speaker 6>to im trying to sigh for myself if I went <v Speaker 6>nominated for this at least because they are scary games. <v Speaker 6>And yet, like the reason I like these games anyways <v Speaker 6>usually doesn't have that much ado with the scary elements <v Speaker 6>of it. Right, Like everybody's favorite part from Allen Week <v Speaker 6>two was the wacky musical section, Right, Yeah, there's nothing <v Speaker 6>scary about that, and I don't like one what I <v Speaker 6>like about that games like the splash, like mechanics and <v Speaker 6>kind of the shooting. There's some good vibes, there's some <v Speaker 6>definitely some horror elements. There's definitely in two there are <v Speaker 6>some scary alms. Maybe a Way two deserves uh sittering, <v Speaker 6>but I don't know. <v Speaker 2>I absolutely love Alan Wake two, but I wouldn't put <v Speaker 2>it on the mount rush more because I think there's <v Speaker 2>enough scares in it to make it a scary game, but. <v Speaker 3>Yeah, it doesn't rise above that. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, afterwards, like it winds up feeling more like a <v Speaker 2>thriller rather than like a horror movie. Yeah, if we <v Speaker 2>were to like equate it to movie terms, because like, <v Speaker 2>like Zodiac is a thriller, but there's like a couple <v Speaker 2>horror scenes in it that are unnerving, and there's definitely <v Speaker 2>parts of Allen Way two that are like horror focused <v Speaker 2>and unnerving, and that makes you kind of question a <v Speaker 2>bunch of things. But even with the bray Wyatt style scares, <v Speaker 2>I wouldn't put it on the Mount rush More of <v Speaker 2>horror games. <v Speaker 1>Maggots on the screen. <v Speaker 3>Whoa, But what about Alien Isolation or Until Dawn? I <v Speaker 3>just want to get your guys temperatures on those. I <v Speaker 3>haven't played either. <v Speaker 2>Really. <v Speaker 3>I played a little bit of Alien. <v Speaker 1>I played a little Alien. I'd beat Until Dawn. Until <v Speaker 1>Don's a good game. Yeah, But I mean, if we <v Speaker 1>decide that we're doing these are the scariest games of <v Speaker 1>all time, there's a couple like jump scare things where <v Speaker 1>it's like I interacted with this drawer and a raccoon <v Speaker 1>jumped out of me. <v Speaker 6>You know, like there's. <v Speaker 3>Doesn't have to be the scariest, but Mount Rushmore of <v Speaker 3>scary games. <v Speaker 6>Yeah, anything really that's scary about him? <v Speaker 3>Yeah, I think I think I still agree with that. <v Speaker 1>Yeah. <v Speaker 2>I think I probably played it in a wrong setting <v Speaker 2>for me to be really scared, because I played it <v Speaker 2>amongst a bunch of friends and we were kind of like, <v Speaker 2>oh and like goofing the whole time. So there were <v Speaker 2>definitely jump scare moments, but it started feeling a little <v Speaker 2>too sawish where it was like very gory rather than scary. <v Speaker 6>Sure, I'm not a big slasher fan. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, no, No, I've. <v Speaker 1>Seen some people mentioned in the chat and I think <v Speaker 1>this is worth it, and I'm curious when you beat it. <v Speaker 1>But Outlast I played that at a PAS. It was <v Speaker 1>my first experience with them. They put you in a <v Speaker 1>dark room and you just play it, and I remember <v Speaker 1>it's scaring the shit out of me as I played it, <v Speaker 1>and then I don't remember why I didn't play through <v Speaker 1>it when it came out. <v Speaker 6>I've any who played the whole game. Does it keep <v Speaker 6>that up the whole time? <v Speaker 3>I haven't played the whole game, but I think I <v Speaker 3>played a good bit of it when the PS four <v Speaker 3>first came out because it was like an early PS <v Speaker 3>four game, if I'm remembering, And I thought it was <v Speaker 3>scary the whole time I was playing it, for sure. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, and it's got that like you know viewfinder camera thing. <v Speaker 1>You're going through this you know, dark hospital, and I've <v Speaker 1>ever been pretty fucking scary. <v Speaker 3>Yeah, I think it definitely is, but it's like for <v Speaker 3>me because that's first person, right, and it felt like <v Speaker 3>I fell like another one of these there, like kind <v Speaker 3>of going in the wake of PT a little bit. <v Speaker 3>But maybe that's not right. Maybe maybe that was maybe <v Speaker 3>it was his own thing. So I don't know, but <v Speaker 3>I I just feel like PT fills that category on <v Speaker 3>the Mount Rushmore for sure. <v Speaker 2>Okay, yeah, yeah, okay. So I pulled up an IGN <v Speaker 2>list of the top twenty five best horror games, and <v Speaker 2>I also solicited a couple of items from folks in <v Speaker 2>chat here. I'm just going to quickly rattle through them <v Speaker 2>and see if we feel inclined to add any to <v Speaker 2>our personal list before we rattle away. Ready, boys, yep, <v Speaker 2>all right, let's see stuff we haven't included. Stay out <v Speaker 2>of the House. Don't know that that is. <v Speaker 3>I don't know what that is. <v Speaker 2>Slender the eight Pages. <v Speaker 1>I did play that. It was kind of spooky, but <v Speaker 1>not really for. <v Speaker 6>That was kind of a fuck a flash in the <v Speaker 6>pan a bit, the whole slender Man thing. <v Speaker 1>Uh yeah, yeah, definitely correction, Doctor Ryan Chad says, Outlast <v Speaker 1>was twenty thirteen. PT was twenty fourteen. <v Speaker 3>Yeah, that's what I was just like himself there, Yeah, <v Speaker 3>it was like, yeah, I remember that actually coming up <v Speaker 3>before because PT was a little bit later. <v Speaker 6>Yeah, the evil within mm yeah, I was wondering about this. <v Speaker 6>People like the second one more right, I didn't love it. <v Speaker 2>Like that way. Yeah, ooh, I this crossed my head, <v Speaker 2>but I didn't stay there. Condemned. <v Speaker 3>I liked Condemned and Contempt Contempt to. I didn't finish <v Speaker 3>either one, but I liked what I played one, but <v Speaker 3>I kind of a definitely scary. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, it's like first person melee combat and stuff, but <v Speaker 1>it was tense. Yeah, but yeah, not yet on here. <v Speaker 3>But those are just murder simulators. <v Speaker 2>Well, speaking about murder simulators, Manhunt. <v Speaker 3>Oh there you go frustrated? Is that blake worthy? <v Speaker 1>No? No, no, not even if we played at the <v Speaker 1>headset thing, I thought that was funny. <v Speaker 2>Okay, where's in the dark dan Hunt? That'd be funny hunt? <v Speaker 2>Oh yeah, all right inside. <v Speaker 1>No, I would put Limb. <v Speaker 2>Put Limbo. <v Speaker 1>Yeah yeah, I mean. <v Speaker 6>I guess they're kind of scary, but. <v Speaker 2>I'll just put Limbo here for now and we will <v Speaker 2>cut it. <v Speaker 6>Limbo is not terrible, and it's definitely a different kind <v Speaker 6>of scary game. <v Speaker 4>Right. <v Speaker 6>If you're looking for variety, definitely throw that one in there. <v Speaker 6>It's a quick Jaunt, especially if you don't like spiders, <v Speaker 6>then yeah, Limbo's gonna get you. <v Speaker 2>Okay, I won't play that visage never heard of it, <v Speaker 2>massage or vision visage, saying visage fasmophobia. Very scary game, <v Speaker 2>but it's a fun game to play, though. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, I mean it is scary though. <v Speaker 3>I mean, god, I think it's like right there on <v Speaker 3>the border of line of like, oh yeah, that is <v Speaker 3>sort of an institution. Now it could be up on <v Speaker 3>the Okay, let's. <v Speaker 2>Let's put it. I'll put on this list. <v Speaker 3>Then, you know, I think we do if we're doing <v Speaker 3>this like five years from now, I think Fastmophobia gets <v Speaker 3>on the Mount Rushmore pretty easily. <v Speaker 6>You know there's a Teddy Roosevelt slot, right yep. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, yeah, yeah, all right, Dead by Daylight. <v Speaker 6>Uh, that's more fun. <v Speaker 1>Asymmetric multiplayer Scarya. <v Speaker 2>Soma Cruise, Nope, clock Tower. <v Speaker 1>I always had the idea that was scary as hell, <v Speaker 1>but I didn't have a saturn, just the idea of <v Speaker 1>what big dude was due with big ass scissors chasing <v Speaker 1>around the house like a terminator like that sounds scary <v Speaker 1>as hell. <v Speaker 2>And you know that he can't run with scissors. So <v Speaker 2>now walking very carefully. Yeahs Scarier weird. <v Speaker 6>Out tried that and all he got out of it <v Speaker 6>was a best selling. <v Speaker 2>Album Forbidden Siren two. <v Speaker 6>Never heard of it. <v Speaker 2>I think this may be an offshoot of the Fatal <v Speaker 2>Frames here. <v Speaker 1>I never played, I like rented the first one or something, <v Speaker 1>but a lot of it. <v Speaker 2>Okay, uh, all right, you mentioned those mentioned Ari four <v Speaker 2>not making the scary games. <v Speaker 6>Listen, No, that's scary. <v Speaker 1>There are scary moments. I'm glad you guys got around <v Speaker 1>last night to the Regenerators because if I was thinking <v Speaker 1>about like one spot that actually scared me in that game, <v Speaker 1>there is the part where the Regenerator like bursts out <v Speaker 1>and they're like close quarters in the freezer and stuff <v Speaker 1>like yeah, chainsaw guy. There are lots of scary moments, <v Speaker 1>but it's mostly oh shit, action oriented, you know. If <v Speaker 1>there weren't so many like better Resident Evil games for <v Speaker 1>this specific like ones. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, and then the last one that we haven't covered <v Speaker 2>that that ig in list had was Left for Dead two. <v Speaker 2>Not scary, I know, not scary. <v Speaker 6>That's not scary. They don't really talk about alien isolation <v Speaker 6>very much other Jeff Rubs Oh right. <v Speaker 2>Right, I haven't played it. So I can't speak to it. <v Speaker 6>If you played, it is very scary, Yeah, I almost. <v Speaker 6>It's like, what what would you rather have in that <v Speaker 6>kind of sci fi horror slot though that are dead <v Speaker 6>Space Face. I think Alien Isolation is probably scarier. I <v Speaker 6>think that Faces maybe a more robust game. <v Speaker 2>I don't want to think about influence too much, but <v Speaker 2>I feel like maybe dead Space might have more in <v Speaker 2>the long run. <v Speaker 1>Sure, Yeah, that Space is really good. <v Speaker 2>Also, if you're not going to have like an R <v Speaker 2>four style game, I feel like dead Space fills that. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, like more action heavy, but still scary. <v Speaker 3>Yeah, Space was very scary. <v Speaker 6>I see some people chest saying Bloodborne, which is kind <v Speaker 6>of interesting. It's a little I get I see it <v Speaker 6>a little bit, you. <v Speaker 3>Know, Elder g as well. <v Speaker 1>It's not any scarier than like any Soul's game, you know, I. <v Speaker 2>Think it is. <v Speaker 6>I think it is scarier than the other Souls game. <v Speaker 6>Maybe not by a lot. But if you ask me <v Speaker 6>what's the scariest Soul's game, I would say blood I'm. <v Speaker 3>Just realizing that I've been conflating Clocktower and Clockwork Night <v Speaker 3>my entire life. <v Speaker 6>Those are very very different. <v Speaker 2>Now. <v Speaker 3>I never played either one. <v Speaker 6>I played a lot of Clockwork Night as a kid, <v Speaker 6>and very little clock a fund out. <v Speaker 2>Has anyone checked out Phantasmagoria two? <v Speaker 3>No? <v Speaker 2>No, okay, I don't think so. All right, we've we've <v Speaker 2>pretty much covered a lot of the other games that <v Speaker 2>folks are suggesting. Let me just do another scan Last <v Speaker 2>of Us, but I don't know, not enough. <v Speaker 3>Unless it was part two. I really hated going in <v Speaker 3>that hospital. <v Speaker 6>Sure yeah, but it resident before style like yeah, yeah. <v Speaker 3>Yeah, I don't think it needs I don't think it's <v Speaker 3>gonna make the cut. <v Speaker 2>And then a couple of folks and Chuck have been <v Speaker 2>saying night Trap, that's a different thing. <v Speaker 3>Yeah, I would. I would put Fineff before I put <v Speaker 3>Night Trap. <v Speaker 6>I would put Seventh Guests, I would put the Eleventh Hour. <v Speaker 3>Okay, now you're just talking security number seven. <v Speaker 6>I remember watching my brother play Eleventh Hour and I <v Speaker 6>was like, because it had the veils, like this is <v Speaker 6>I think ghost are real? <v Speaker 2>Who? <v Speaker 6>There was a there was a Alone in the Dark <v Speaker 6>fmv CD wrong game that I had as a kid <v Speaker 6>that was awesome. <v Speaker 3>Same you been Edward before, He's been Edward Carnby this whole. <v Speaker 6>Time, I got Carby tired. <v Speaker 3>What about a Splatterhouse twenty ten. <v Speaker 2>You like that, Jan, No, no, no, Spiderhouse one and <v Speaker 2>two roll it's just John Cena an adjacent mask. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, okay, what about the Haunting starring Polter Guy, Poulter Guy. <v Speaker 6>Pretty good, It's not bad. <v Speaker 2>All right. <v Speaker 3>I think we have our four in our short list here? <v Speaker 3>Which do you want to read the whole shortlist we have? <v Speaker 2>Jan? Uh, yeah, Well, I'll start from the bottom and <v Speaker 2>we'll go up to the top of stuff that we've <v Speaker 2>considered and put down on a list. So we have <v Speaker 2>FAsMA Phobia, Limbo Until Dawn, Alan Wake, Eternal Darkness, Sanities, Requiem, <v Speaker 2>five Nights at Freddy's, Resident Evil seven, Dead Space, Amnesia, PT, <v Speaker 2>Silent Hill one, and Resident Evil one. <v Speaker 3>Here's the thing, Yeah, I think those first three are <v Speaker 3>I know PT might have a little bit hard time. <v Speaker 3>I think a lot of you didn't play it, but <v Speaker 3>I think those first three are probably a lot I <v Speaker 3>take your word for it. On Residevil, Silent Hill, and PT. <v Speaker 3>That means was one space. Now do you guys disagree <v Speaker 3>with that? <v Speaker 1>And I think we definitely put them as the top <v Speaker 1>contenders right now. I would also say, let's bold already seven? <v Speaker 6>Okay, again, that might be hard to just and again <v Speaker 6>it's like a requirement that can't be more than one <v Speaker 6>game fred series. But because there's like so many, like <v Speaker 6>I don't know that. <v Speaker 2>Space, it's all so different enough from the original first person. <v Speaker 3>Conversation. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, yeah, can go ahead and cut five nights in <v Speaker 2>Eternal Darkness. Yeah yeah, I'll take out away. <v Speaker 3>Ye I think cut limbo. Yeah, honestly, okay for me <v Speaker 3>if we're not, if it's and not receiveble seven, I <v Speaker 3>think it might be fastmophobia. <v Speaker 1>There's something there. Yeah, it genuinely it's even though you're <v Speaker 1>playing with friends and stuff like that, and it's a <v Speaker 1>good streaming game and everything. Like remember I only played <v Speaker 1>a couple of times. Remember one time I like screamed <v Speaker 1>at something like holy. <v Speaker 3>Shit, it's got the VR thing as well, and it was. <v Speaker 2>To do proximity audio. <v Speaker 1>Really well yeah, oh I. <v Speaker 6>Just don't want to talking stuff and everything. <v Speaker 1>Yeah that's fine. Yeah, that's cool. <v Speaker 3>Yeah, I mean having to like having to like, like <v Speaker 3>I think, like find some light source to do anything <v Speaker 3>in the basement because it's completely just black and I'm <v Speaker 3>in the VR down there. <v Speaker 6>It's yeah, I am some hesitation with with dead Space. <v Speaker 6>What's what's kind of Well, no, there's a lot of <v Speaker 6>good ones here right now. <v Speaker 1>I fucking love dead Space, Like I like dead Space <v Speaker 1>definitely more than like Fastmophobia or PTE. <v Speaker 6>But I think for these purposes, you know. <v Speaker 2>Right, I might sooner cut pt to I would seven <v Speaker 2>and fasmophobia I would. <v Speaker 6>I would do that. <v Speaker 3>Yeah, but I do think I's wrong, guys. It's pt IS. <v Speaker 3>Is is emblematic and iconic, iconic in this space. I'm <v Speaker 3>scary games now. It is so important to horror games <v Speaker 3>have been for the last ten. <v Speaker 6>Years, even tho I've been playing. I think I had <v Speaker 6>this like argument with Jeff once and then like him <v Speaker 6>and everybody else out to me to plant like not <v Speaker 6>not like yelling at me, but they like convinced me. <v Speaker 6>I'm like, no, I think I get it. I think <v Speaker 6>pt probably makes a lot of sense. <v Speaker 2>So is the real argument here? If Sound Hill one <v Speaker 2>belongs on here? Oh wait, it's a heavy hitter, Yeah, <v Speaker 2>it's heavy hitter, cult classic for sure. <v Speaker 6>I mean I put something again, I haven't played one. <v Speaker 6>I would put two up there for saying even you know, <v Speaker 6>more fitting than two is. <v Speaker 1>I mean, Silent Hill one is definitely in the top <v Speaker 1>four games on this list that have scared me personally, sure, <v Speaker 1>without a doubt. <v Speaker 3>I mean, if we do Resival one, Silent Hill one PT, <v Speaker 3>and residueval seven, like we don't feel too great about <v Speaker 3>that or what? <v Speaker 1>Actually, that's not bad? <v Speaker 2>Say that again? <v Speaker 3>The one that's the ones that are bolded. <v Speaker 6>I'm kind of okay with that. It might be me <v Speaker 6>who's getting a little stuck up on like we gotta <v Speaker 6>gets evil too, and you're right, there's a good reason too. <v Speaker 2>But let's let's cut in. Yeah, yeah, okay, yeah, Mike, <v Speaker 2>I love dead Space and scared the crap out of me. <v Speaker 2>I had to wrink it twice. Are we cool cutting <v Speaker 2>dead space? <v Speaker 6>Dead Space? I do think it's maybe phobia? Are seven <v Speaker 6>for that last spot? <v Speaker 2>Okay, let's let's do a quick recap. Currently, current locks <v Speaker 2>for sure are he one, sound Hill one p T <v Speaker 2>and fighting for that fourth slot is Resident Evil seven. <v Speaker 2>In fasmophobia, I think it's seven. <v Speaker 6>One thing is like, I think seven is a very <v Speaker 6>again up. It's directly inspired by PT already and it's <v Speaker 6>why we got that. It's a good thing. If fasmophobia <v Speaker 6>is representing something very different on this list, the multipoer, I. <v Speaker 3>Could I agree with what Mike's saying to like, if <v Speaker 3>we do go already seven, the way I would feel <v Speaker 3>good about it is like, yeah, PTE started it, and <v Speaker 3>Receival seven sort of cemented as like this is how <v Speaker 3>you do the scariest kind of game right now. And <v Speaker 3>so it's like there's a lineage there that I'm okay with, <v Speaker 3>like representing on here. <v Speaker 2>Then cut seven. I do think. <v Speaker 3>I think that, Like, for if I was like, legitimately <v Speaker 3>gonna go carve something into a mountain, I would not <v Speaker 3>put ARI seven up there because we already have ARI <v Speaker 3>one and I would put fasmophobia. But we're not doing that, <v Speaker 3>and so I'm like that's why I'm like, I could <v Speaker 3>go either way. <v Speaker 6>We're not cutting I see people's child. I'll just cut <v Speaker 6>resivule one. <v Speaker 2>No, no, again. <v Speaker 6>It's it's not specifically just what's the scariest game ever, <v Speaker 6>it's the Mount Rushmore scary. <v Speaker 3>Is George Washington. George Washing is not the best president. <v Speaker 6>You don't cut George Washington. <v Speaker 2>Speak for yourself. Here's great songs in Hamilton. <v Speaker 6>George Washington. <v Speaker 1>Oh my god, I didn't know that. Honestly, didn't know that. <v Speaker 6>He was like, okay, okay, if Tom could have heard that. <v Speaker 2>He was like the thirdly. Okay, fine, but. <v Speaker 3>It doesn't look like George Washington. <v Speaker 6>Oh oh did you not have the white wig? I <v Speaker 6>bet I was looking for that nobody. <v Speaker 3>Yeah, he was played by a man of color. <v Speaker 6>Yes, Oh, I don't know that everybody is played by <v Speaker 6>a man of color in that Yep. <v Speaker 1>I like I said, I wasn't really paying attention to it. <v Speaker 3>Okay, okay, the floor seven put fast mophobia. <v Speaker 2>Let's just do it. Say that again. <v Speaker 3>Let's cut recival seven. Just do fast mophobia. Let's just <v Speaker 3>do it, Dan, I know you really wanted to recival seven, <v Speaker 3>but we have Resident Evil up there already. I think <v Speaker 3>it's fast mophobia as. <v Speaker 1>Long as I'm on record saying I disagree. But it's <v Speaker 1>not like a wild thing. I think pastmophobia is very good. <v Speaker 1>It does, and I understand where you're coming from. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, yeah, yeah, okay, all right, we have done it. <v Speaker 2>Our hands are clean, there's no blood, no knives had <v Speaker 2>to be brought out. We had a civil discussion amongst friends. <v Speaker 2>Giant Bomb has crowned the mount rushmore of scary games <v Speaker 2>we have, Uh, we want to go descending order. I'll <v Speaker 2>take the next one grub Dan, then Mike got I <v Speaker 2>don't have a doc open, but sure, well you say <v Speaker 2>pasmophobia after Dan? <v Speaker 6>All right, just well, okay when you speak to me, <v Speaker 6>it's stop on my foot. <v Speaker 2>Johnson, all right, the Giant Bomb's Mount rushmore Scary games. <v Speaker 2>Is Resident Evil one Silent Hill. <v Speaker 1>One Resident Evil seven? <v Speaker 2>No, no, you have the dock in front of you. <v Speaker 1>Yeahsident is wrong pt. <v Speaker 2>BT okay and Mike fasm phobia. That's an explainable phenomenon, the blood <v Speaker 1>beer thing. I watched your podcast last night. It just <v Speaker 1>seems like he had a weird tasting beer. <v Speaker 2>No. <v Speaker 6>I mean I've had the beer, the metallic taste, and <v Speaker 6>you can imagine how metal taste sometimes gets into beers <v Speaker 6>if you done a factory tour. Yeah, that's fine. <v Speaker 2>Uh oh, okay, Layers, let's food to block. Let me YouTube. <v Speaker 3>Uh yeah, I gotta just let them. Let them take <v Speaker 3>it easy.
