Speaker 4: Welcome to Hour two of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Now here's Matt Jones.

00:01:06
Speaker 3: Welcome back, have re number two Kentucky Sports Radio. If I'm nine two eighth twenty two eighty seven, text machine seven seven two four five two five four. One person rights, Matt, I think you and Shannon are perfect for relationship advice. You all have zero divorces. The number one cause of divorce divorce is marriage. Correct, that's right.

00:01:27
Speaker 5: You can't get divorced if you never get married.

00:01:29
Speaker 3: It's exactly right, point zero divorces right between me, Shannon and Drew. So like, I mean enough, ac Yes, yeah, good job. I know Billy yet, Mario.

00:01:46
Speaker 5: Although you know Billy is getting married, so.

00:01:50
Speaker 3: Bout a very but he's still good until August. Right, he can still give advice until August.

00:01:55
Speaker 5: Ye, then after that we gotta cut him off.

00:01:57
Speaker 3: But yeah, I think it makes uh, it makes complete complete sense, I understand. One person writes, Matt. I know when Arkansas wins, it's tough for you because everybody retweets that video. Do you root against them? Yeah? I mean I don't hate them, but I root against them for sure.

00:02:17
Speaker 4: I'm apprecio over saying I'm happy for Calipery winning. I'm not happy for Calipari winning.

00:02:22
Speaker 3: This I look So there are different kinds of people with Kentucky fans with Arkansas. So if you're a person who is like it doesn't matter one way or the other, I can appreciate that they're not necessarily traditionally arrival. If you're somebody like me who wants to see them lose, obviously, I understand like that. I do want to see them lose because a they're an SEC team that is, in my opinion, someone that I just I've always kind of not liked them. They're not on Tennessee levels, but they're they're close. And then you know there's a personal part of it, which is not personal to cal but just personal to that. I just get tired of looking at the Arkansas fans, like at the moment Arkansas wins a game like that, I know, like I can't go on social media for forty eight hours and because it's just gonna be Arkansas fans yelling. I do not understand the Kentucky fans that pull for Arkansas. I know a couple of fans that I'm actually friends with who actively like it seems like now almost like Arkansas more than Kentucky. I don't get that at all. I don't get that. I think that's actually kind of weird if you do that, if you like them more, if you want to say, I mean Billy says, I'm happy for Cal. Okay, I guess if you want to be. I mean, I understand people. I have good memories of him, but there are when I see Kentucky fans like where go and get them Cal? That'll show them. I mean, you live in Kentucky. It would almost be like, you know, rooting against the United States just because you don't like who the current president is. I mean, when when the USA played the Dominican last night, I don't like our president, I'm still rooting for the USA. That's my team, you know, And so I don't understand the I'm going to root for Arkansas and not the team that I'm a part of.

00:04:18
Speaker 6: Drew.

00:04:18
Speaker 7: It just doesn't make any sense to me that whatever you think of Cal when he kind of says like I'm moving the headquarters, you don't want Kentucky to fall off, because then it really does look like it was all Cal. You want Kentucky to play well and say no, it wasn't just you. You were obviously a big part of it. But Kentucky was It's Kentucky. So when he goes and has success, it kind of adds some value to his argument there or that line he was off left.

00:04:42
Speaker 3: Col's always been in his best Ryan when he has a great point guard. Even the teams here, you go, look at the really great teams we had Wall Night twenty twelves a little bit an exception. Tea was good, but that was I mean, Anthony Davis was a special guy. But then you go with Tyler Eulis Fox. I mean, when he has the point guard, he's really good and he's got the point He's got him now this year, so I'm not surprised they're good. But I don't understand a Kentucky fan rooting for him. I just don't. So that you can say what I don't like Mitch or it was Matt Jones's fault, Like what does that accomplish? You're just cutting off your nose to spite your face.

00:05:18
Speaker 2: And for all those fans you're talking about, the Kentucky fans are kind of pulling for Arkansas. Their argument is, right now, that could have been our roster, that could.

00:05:25
Speaker 3: Have been our It could have been it could have been I understand, but so what it's not? It could I mean I get well, first of all, I don't know if it could have been, he would have gotten a cuff here, but like Trayvon Brazil wouldn't have been here. I mean, you know, it wouldn't going to be the same team. But okay, he's not here. Do you, Shannon, do you spill your days crying over spilled milk? Nope?

00:05:46
Speaker 5: Not one time. You clean up the milk and move on.

00:05:49
Speaker 3: You move on, You move on. And the issue for me now is is Mark Pope the right guy? It's not. It could have been cow. There's nothing worse than sitting. Have you got has ever had a friend that is cries over an X for years? I have?

00:06:06
Speaker 2: Oh yeah, you.

00:06:07
Speaker 3: At some point have to go, okay, hey, time's not returning. You gotta move on. And so that's kinda you know, that's how I'm about it. And then of course you get the people who will say, Shannon, the uh you running him off my it?

00:06:27
Speaker 5: Yeah, it's your fault, specifically.

00:06:30
Speaker 3: You wag you overestimate my power. Right now, we can't even get our whole group credentialed at the SEC tournament. That's true. All right, we have the power to run coaches off. We only got two of our of the four credentials at the SEC tournament. But also, let me just throw another little note on this. If you ever coach who is so worried about a radio host that they can't, then they can't coach here, right, I mean you can't. You can't, by the way, I don't believe Cow's that guy, But if you do, then you can't coach here. Cause if I don't, if I'm not here, somebody else will be. And I'll go ahead and tell you. I don't know if people have looked at the Kentucky media landscape, but there's a lot of people that are a lot harsher than I am. I would argue, especially in today's I mean, Jerry Tipton was a reporter that won a Pulitzer Prize ryan for bringing down Kentucky basketball. Yep. This idea that a dude on the radio who wants Kentucky to win every game is running to coach off, It's just ludicrous, but some people still hang on to it.

00:07:47
Speaker 2: I don't get near the fan backlash that you get, but Arkansas fans somehow found me and I was getting a bunch of stuff. So I started messing with him. Yesterday Saturday, I was sending out these.

00:07:54
Speaker 3: Oh no, what did you do?

00:07:56
Speaker 2: I sent out like a tweet, said something like, what's the common denominate between Patino and Caliperi? Kentucky beat both of them and all their heads were exploded? Just so something like that.

00:08:09
Speaker 3: You thought you got him with that?

00:08:10
Speaker 8: I did, well.

00:08:12
Speaker 3: I just paused, like did you were you? Just like, oh burn Arkansas fan, I got you.

00:08:18
Speaker 2: I just wanted to mess with a little bit and just sit back and just watch it.

00:08:22
Speaker 3: Oh my god, Yes, did their their heads did explode? You?

00:08:25
Speaker 2: Yes, it did explode. Yes, impossible, but it happened.

00:08:28
Speaker 3: Wow. I didn't know. So they don't even exist anymore. Exploded? Did ran Slave?

00:08:35
Speaker 5: I think he did?

00:08:37
Speaker 3: Ryan Slay? I don't know Slade. I think Slade. What do you make of it? Because Drew you get some of it too. I mean it's I get more of it than anyone, but you probably get the second most of You know, you ran them off? What do you say to that?

00:08:52
Speaker 7: I'm completely unbothered by it because their arguments are usually wrong, like people saying we would have his team. Do you remember he tried to raise a million and and got to forty eight thousand, Like.

00:09:03
Speaker 2: Where's that money?

00:09:04
Speaker 7: By the way, people weren't giving him twenty two million here, Like I feel like a lot of people have rewritten the last few years of his time here at Kentucky. Part of the problem that we weren't good as he wasn't getting those guards. We were getting the severe wheelers instead of the Darius acuffs. He was five and six in the SEC tournament when he left here, had five losses in the last six tournament games when he left here. Also, I want to chime this earlier. I gotta get this out. I am not listening to Bruiser Flint, who got here in the year twenty twenty talking about wrong in people in Lexington. They didn't win anything when he was here. So when he's talking about the fans being sad when he was here, but you got here in twenty twenty and didn't get out of the first weekend of the tournament and didn't see the weekend in Nationalist, I don't want to hear anything about who's wrong and who from some of that crew.

00:09:45
Speaker 3: I totally agree you know who did cow wrong? Bruiser Flint Okay, you got paid over half a million to not win.

00:09:51
Speaker 7: Here.

00:09:52
Speaker 3: Part of the problem was his assistance were worthless for the last few years. Okay, that is that's part of the problem. At his peak, when he had John Robick and Kenny Payne and all those guys in Orlando, Roland, Dwayne Peevee, they were a net positive. By the end, it was just Bruiser Flint hanging out at Jeff Ruby's. So if you think anybody did col wrong, Bruiser, look in the mirror. You're the one that did him wrong because you didn't help. You took a spot of somebody that could have worked. And that's all I have to say that I brought him up not to shoot him. But all these comments were getting yesterday, these are not It's not real life. When you're telling me Cal would have done this. Calo had done that, He had chances to do that. That's why it was over here because he wasn't doing that.

00:10:36
Speaker 7: So a lot of this stuff that was on Twitter yesterday, I just kind of rolled my eyes at it and be like, whatever fantasy land you want to live in, good for you, But the rest of us are We're moving on in the real world.

00:10:46
Speaker 3: Before that call. By the way, one person also writes, Matt, I don't think your mechanical bull ride it's fu.

00:10:53
Speaker 2: Please talk about this, give us a chance. If that was really good, that was really it was so weak they had.

00:11:05
Speaker 3: They wouldn't put it. No, they had it on two. It was between two and three. They would not put it higher than that unless like you, you know you did you were able to be really good, and I I thought I did really well, Shannon, did you know?

00:11:21
Speaker 4: I what were you doing grabbing the bulls butt? You can't do that that. You can't grab them.

00:11:26
Speaker 3: Who are you not allowed to grab the butt when you do it? Do you know the official rules of HI.

00:11:34
Speaker 4: Get up on a bull and grab its butt. You're supposed to hold on with one hand.

00:11:37
Speaker 3: I try not to look at that you build out. Why did you actually I did? I did not bail. I was about to fall, and then rather than get my I was I was on my way to fall. People think I like bailed. I didn't bail. I was about to fall, and then I kind of I did kind of move my leg like I'm about to fall. I don't want to fall head first. It was the worst this mouth ever bailing. What you called that? I thought it was really good. I mean I heard a lot. I heard from a lot of people that comments. I will give you credit, you got off comment section was it was? But what? Let me ask you a question, what did people want? Did they think I was going to be good at it? Did anyone out there think I would be good at it? A six foot four? You know four? Did you of first? I don't say get stop, that's not necessary. I don't think anybody thought I was going to be good at it. No, people just would to do People just want to see me get hurt? Like, what did they want? Effort? You were fatigued. You're fatigued.

00:12:45
Speaker 7: I will say, what you did with your offen to that bull would have made it a wild drive. With a real bull, you're not supposed to place your hand there. A real bull would have thrown you off real quick with that hand placement would have bucked even more.

00:12:58
Speaker 3: Yeah, that's that's probably true. The hand doesn't go there. The problem was I think about the problem was my friend Corey went first and he did that, and I was like, oh, that's a good idea.

00:13:08
Speaker 2: Yeah, Corey did do it before you.

00:13:11
Speaker 3: So she so Ryan I would blame Corey for this one, totally.

00:13:14
Speaker 8: You.

00:13:14
Speaker 2: Yeah, but you didn't bail. You kind of just gangly lazily sell gangly.

00:13:20
Speaker 3: I don't think you need to add gangly to the friend. You only have to go eight seconds. You weren't too far off. I made it. Didn't want to do it. I didn't want to do it. I really did want to get hurt because I knew I had a big weekend ahead, and I don't know. I heard a lot of people say it was really good.

00:13:39
Speaker 2: I don't know I did.

00:13:40
Speaker 3: I don't know if that was true. Mike, Mike, go ahead, Mike.

00:13:48
Speaker 8: I guess you are talking Santa Clair. And I'm not really scared of Santa Clair. I'm a little bit scared.

00:13:55
Speaker 6: Mark.

00:13:56
Speaker 8: I'm not trying to be made but that what I mean by that is like old the game they played exactly the way they had to play for us win. Yeah, he's made us serious over the year of the first two years with his substitution platters. Why not pull a guy out when he's taking dumb shots then left him back in, you know, because I feel like you knew they were going to win the rebound in battle, so of course they got four possessions. If you take dumb shots, that's just the same as turnover man. And they stood around.

00:14:30
Speaker 5: We lost him.

00:14:31
Speaker 3: He lost him. He's right about that. He's right about the first part of that, Drew. Florida did play in a way that would give us a chance. We just couldn't seize it and take advantage.

00:14:41
Speaker 7: Yeah, Florida, I honestly the way that game started, when we're up twelve four, you know we I think we scored from and we didn'tcore first because never led. But they got that early gap and I'm like, oh god, this, they're gonna run us out. But when Kentucky titan it was pretty close to the rest of the game. Florida did not play off well offensively. Kentucky just could not make three. At one point in the second half, only Diabate had made threes. He was two for two and the rest of the team was zero for twelve. And even if you're defending Florida, well, if you're shooting like that, you're still not gonna have a chance. And if they had just made a few more shots, that could have been a different story. The door was open.

00:15:14
Speaker 3: There, totally agree. Now, part of it was because they were three for twenty from three, so I mean both teams it was a bait. It was a tough game to watch. He was brutal. Oh I said.

00:15:24
Speaker 7: The next guy had no dog in the fight. He was just leaning over like this is the worst basketball game I've ever seen. Another foul, another foul they went.

00:15:34
Speaker 3: They went like ten minutes with only one field goal. So I mean you had a chance. We just didn't play well enough to do it. In Kentucky right now, you can't find affordable child care, a place to live. You can't get a job, and we're short tens of thousands of childcare spots, and nearly ninety seven percent of local leaders says housing is an issue in their community. Without both, the economy in Kentucky will struggle. Add your name and as a way of telling legislators in Frankfurt, it's the basics, childcare and housing. Kentucky's workforce can then actually work. It's Kentucky Chamber. Go to Opportunity starts here dot com. That's opportunity starts here dot com. We'll talk more about this, and the women's bracket is out Kentucky playing very close by. We'll deal with that, right for this okays are a lot of messages about the bull Ride on the text machine. One person writes, Matt, had you had on the cowboy hat, I would have had to check to see if it was you or Chris LaDue. Thank you very much. Nobody knows who Chris Lado isn't oh he used the guy he was. I think he used to be a bull rider. Then he had a country song that was really big. I can't remember what it is. Starth Brooks references no, Garth Brooks references him in the song worn out Tape of Chris LaDue. Remember that, Sure, there's a song, look up their lyrics, Shan, there's a song where he goes worn out tape of Chris LaDue. I can't remember what it is. Uh, But and I think he was a bull rider and a country music singer when and I can see why you would have thought that was me. One person writes, mad I appreciate that you do the ads for the Kentucky Skin Cancer Center and getting early checking, but I don't feel like you had to check that part of the bull for early checking. That's not nice. That's not nice. Why say that I was You do need early screening but I don't know that. I wasn't what I was trying to do.

00:17:27
Speaker 7: They do say you want to get to know your bull before you ride it, but you know, maybe not that well.

00:17:31
Speaker 4: You could at least put a rubber glove on first.

00:17:40
Speaker 3: It's just not very nice. Do you find that song? What's the song?

00:17:45
Speaker 5: Much too young to fill this?

00:17:46
Speaker 3: To fill the damn? Yeah? You can play that and then wonder what. I can't remember what the Crystal Do had one. I know he had one big hit. I'm fairly sure I'll find in that in that nineties country uh thing one person rights Matt. I lasted longer on a mechanical bull, blacked out at my senior year sorority bar crawl with two other girls on the bull than you did.

00:18:11
Speaker 2: This is, like I said, it's like a kiddie level, very barely moving.

00:18:15
Speaker 3: I did have I did have a couple. I did have a couple of women write me and say they found me drew much less attractive after being on that bull. So I don't think that one's gonna go anywhere on the profiles. You did fall through with your with your promise? He did?

00:18:32
Speaker 8: Did?

00:18:33
Speaker 3: I did? The UK baseball team swept Alabama.

00:18:37
Speaker 2: How about that.

00:18:37
Speaker 3: Let's start to SEC. Play three and zero against an Alabama team that was kind of supposed to be middle of the pack of the SEC. So, uh, that's a good start rye for UK baseball.

00:18:47
Speaker 2: Yeah, to sweep them right out of the gate like that, a team that was ranked. So now they're up to number fifteen in the rankings this week. That just came out. So off to a hot start for UK.

00:18:54
Speaker 3: Baby they get to fifteen eighteen two.

00:18:57
Speaker 4: The two teams they lost to were like what Evansville and Morehead or yeah.

00:19:02
Speaker 3: It was, but they really didn't play anybody in the non conference so so, but beating Alabama it was a drew. That's a great start for the team.

00:19:11
Speaker 2: Yeah, a huge win. They've won thirteen in a row, longest in the nation, I think.

00:19:16
Speaker 3: Yeah.

00:19:16
Speaker 7: I mean Morehead got you on opening Day and you had the other one you slipped up on. But otherwise they've turned a corner. Tyler Bell being back's huge, and then Nate Harris pitched six scoreless innings yesterday, so then they had a big Sunday.

00:19:28
Speaker 3: The women's team is a five seed. They did not get to host a little controversial in women's Basketball Land. A lot of I looked at a lot of the national commentators felt like Kentucky should host. They will go to West Virginia, they played James Madison where Kenny Brooks used to be the coach, and then if they win, they would play West Virginia in a road game. I think that's a lot of people had projected Kentucky to play West to be the four in West Virginia to five. But the game is being Lexington instead. The games is in Morgantown, so they will have to win a road game Ryan, assuming they can get past James Madison in the first one.

00:20:08
Speaker 2: Yeah, I feel like a UK hoops. They feel like they kind of got you know, looked over a little bit and kind of got the host a little bit of thinking they were gonna host, especially if they won a couple games in the SEC tournament. But Kenny Brooks, he's in the James Madison Hall of Fame, he's their winning this coach. Ever, so it's a good little storyline I think for that for opening round matchup.

00:20:25
Speaker 3: Yeah, hopefully we will do more about that game as we get closer. I believe that game will be Saturday. So Kentucky the men. The game is the first game on Friday. It is a twelve fifteen on Friday, we will have the game at ks Bar. A weird time. It is the first time since twenty eleven Kentucky, Kentucky or Duke hasn't played one of the prime time CBS night sessions. Now I find a lot. You know, everybody says they continue to say, oh Kentucky, We're not marquee anymore. It is completely fair to question Kentucky's success over the last few years, etc. But I did find this interesting. CBS the way they broadcast games is always fascinating me. They when they're doing the Thursday Friday of the NCAA tournament, they will always put the games that are on CBS. They put on CBS the ones they feel like will rate the best. And over the years they've done kind of the same thing. They would put either Kentucky or Duke in the first session in the day or either Kentucky or Duke at night, and that has been the case forever. Now Kentucky Duke will be in the first session on Thursday, in the early things on CBS. We will be in the early session on Friday. Kansas gets a night session and then Michigan gets a night session. But the reason I think that's important is even in a year that has been so frustrating for us, and even in a year where we go ooh, Kentucky basketball is slippy, even then Kentucky against Santa Clair is still one of the four sessions chosen for CBS, and that has been that way we have been on a CBS session. I think it's fourteen of the last fifteen years. So I do think that's important as it feels like sometimes we need to rebuild the Kentucky fan base confidence even in our bad year. They're like, you know what, when it comes time to who we're putting on CBS, Drew, we're putting the Kentucky Wildcats and we're putting the Duke Blue Devils, and they do it every single year. Yep. We're still in the conversation.

00:22:44
Speaker 7: And Nashley might be the case that people want to watch us lose, but all that matters that the people are watching. It's still on the hot brands in college basketball, and it's a little early on. I know people hate it's during work hours, but Pope's big on routine. I mean, we just played three early games in the SEC tournament, and then you've got Santa Clara. Their bodies are nine to fifteen for them, So I don't hate the spot.

00:23:07
Speaker 3: Yeah, and there's something good shitting about. You win the early game and then you can watch the rest games a night not be stressed.

00:23:12
Speaker 4: There you go, yep, you get that out of the way, and then you just get to watch all the games and hang out.

00:23:17
Speaker 5: That's the best part about it.

00:23:18
Speaker 3: They worn out tape. Worn out tape of chrys Lado. We'll take a break, very backs KSR. TJ. Smith, personal injury attorney called TJ. He'll make them pay.

00:23:31
Speaker 4: Now more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage.

00:23:35
Speaker 5: Here's Matt Jones.

00:23:38
Speaker 3: What is this?

00:23:42
Speaker 4: This is a chrysal Ado the Cowboys at Wow.

00:23:47
Speaker 3: This is not the one I was thinking of.

00:23:48
Speaker 5: Oh this was so I thought this was the one.

00:23:53
Speaker 3: That's got fifteen million views. Yeah wow, Yeah, I've never heard this. So this is Chris la doo h. Yeah, this is terrible. I was I remember the one I was thinking about, Cadillac Ranch. That was the one. We can play that in the next sem I think that was That's a better one.

00:24:09
Speaker 2: Is laughing the whole time he's playing this.

00:24:16
Speaker 3: It sounds kind of awful.

00:24:17
Speaker 5: But that's all right, Yeah it is.

00:24:21
Speaker 3: You're very happy about this song. Ship. I don't know why one person writes, Matt when I saw your mechanical bull video, I could have sworn it was Luke Perry in eight and seconds. You know, it wasn't that great?

00:24:34
Speaker 2: No, I don't know if that was what they said.

00:24:37
Speaker 3: That's what they said. It's right here on the.

00:24:42
Speaker 2: From Big Bang Theory.

00:24:43
Speaker 3: Okay, I stop with you, you and your I don't want to hear.

00:24:46
Speaker 5: From you machines.

00:24:48
Speaker 3: I saw you can do it. I saw you, chip Ice. We have some breaking news.

00:24:55
Speaker 6: Running on Alabama.

00:24:59
Speaker 3: Guard aid In Holloway, who's the team's leading scorer, was arrested this morning by Tuscaloosa Police in charge with first degree possession of marijuana with over a pound of marijuana and failure to affix a tax stamp. What does that mean? Failure? Never heard that a tax stamp. I don't know what that means. A pound in marijuana go to marijuana experts. Is that a lot?

00:25:28
Speaker 5: Yeah, that's a lot. That's intent to distribute, Like, how.

00:25:30
Speaker 3: Many people does a pound in marijuana?

00:25:33
Speaker 5: It depends on We're talking like if everybody.

00:25:35
Speaker 3: Was smoking once. Yeah, if everybody was smoking once, how many people does a pound in marijuana do for a year?

00:25:45
Speaker 7: Yeah, so we've heard, so we've heard.

00:25:48
Speaker 4: Yeah, allegedly if you smoked it every day, that probably would last you a year.

00:25:53
Speaker 3: That's a lot. That's a that's a distributable amount.

00:25:56
Speaker 4: You're saying, Look, I don't deal in that uh business.

00:26:04
Speaker 3: Whatever. Man, I'm not judging. I'm just asking you how much it is.

00:26:08
Speaker 5: I feel like that's a lot. A pound is a lot, all right.

00:26:11
Speaker 3: And failure to fix a tax stamp through look that up. I have no even with my law background, I've never I don't know what that means. Attack state thing.

00:26:22
Speaker 7: And if you have so much, you need to prove that it's, you.

00:26:25
Speaker 2: Know, for medical reasons.

00:26:27
Speaker 3: For whatever you're doing. You're not want to single in Alabama.

00:26:30
Speaker 7: I would have been surprised if it was google that on the fly. But I'm guessing it somehow makes your uh, your bag of weed uh legal whatever you want.

00:26:41
Speaker 3: So now do you does he not? Do you not play in the UH in the SEC in the intire tournament? I mean nat Oates has shown with the one guy that he would play no matter what you think. They play him in the first game against Hofstra of the Pride.

00:26:56
Speaker 2: Maybe they sit him in that game just because they think you should handle hosting.

00:27:00
Speaker 3: Change between that game and the next one. I mean he was he was interested for first degree possession.

00:27:06
Speaker 4: That's not There's a little more insight on your marijuana amount, okay.

00:27:12
Speaker 3: Please please give it to me.

00:27:14
Speaker 4: A jingle pound can produce over one thousand joints.

00:27:18
Speaker 3: Oh my goodness.

00:27:19
Speaker 4: So when I said that the four of us could probably smoke all year on it, we'd probably be right.

00:27:24
Speaker 3: I mean I could agree with a thousand. So that is a lot then, And that's not the you just guessing you wouldn't say that's a personal use amount of nound the whole game.

00:27:40
Speaker 5: Here's the thing. I mean, these guys are getting paid money. Why are you doing that?

00:27:43
Speaker 4: Why do you need to make more money? Why do you need a side hustle of selling marijuana?

00:27:46
Speaker 3: That's true. I mean you could say, well, why are you smoking it? May just because he likes it? Why are there's no need to if you're eight in Holloway. I don't know what is in al Is, but it's probably enough to not need to sell weed on the side on the street corner, and if you are lease, put your tax sticker on it. That's the real outrage. Shannon, no tax stamp.

00:28:07
Speaker 5: I always a fix my tax stamp, especially.

00:28:10
Speaker 3: When you and Shannon has a pound of marijuana in two tax stamps. Who rees? Go ahead, Reese.

00:28:25
Speaker 9: Man, I wanted to stick with this Caliperry divorce analogy. Kentucky's obviously a ten out of ten program and cal cheated on us with a lesser program and paid US thirty five million to get out of the buyout, and his hair plugs and going to the gym is getting a top three point guard that he's ever had, and starting Malik Thomas over DJ Wagner and he's still a four seed. So I don't think it's fair to say that we lost the divorce. I think even if we settled for a youth pastor, that's not exactly doing it for us. We can move on eventually and not have to pay that buyout.

00:28:54
Speaker 3: Did you say a youth pastor?

00:28:56
Speaker 8: He did?

00:28:57
Speaker 2: He did.

00:29:01
Speaker 3: I don't think your analogy is terribly wrong, though on the cow part, I appreciate the call. I mean I Drew's right. We both I remember Drew and I both saying when this happened, he will have another run at Arkansas. He just will. He's too good of a coach. I mean, no one. One thing I've never said is that he can't coach. I've always taken up for his coach. I think he makes bone headed decisions. I will note. I mean Old Miss was the fifteen seed Drew, and they almost lost, and they almost blew it and class didn't foul up three like all the things that they do. They almost did it again, but they did win, and he deserves the spoils for that. He does.

00:29:39
Speaker 7: And yesterday, listen, my team had already been home for two days. I'm not hating there, and well I'm not, but they had Brazil go four for five from three. Wagner went three for three. If those guys do that, they'll beat anybody a cuff. Yeah, he shows up every night. He's unbelievable. But his col's secondary players played out of their minds on Sunday. I think that also really helped him get over Vandy in that takes them to another level if those guys can do it consistently. But I don't think they can.

00:30:04
Speaker 3: If they shoot fourteen of twenty four from three, which is what they were at one point, I don't know what they finished, then they're gonna win. They're gonna win it at all. I mean, like, that's an amazing I don't care who shoots fourteen for twenty four from three. That's a that's a you know, that's that's a great amount. And what are you gonna do? Who's next? Mark?

00:30:21
Speaker 8: Mark?

00:30:21
Speaker 3: Go ahead and Mark Hey?

00:30:23
Speaker 10: What's going on?

00:30:23
Speaker 8: Matt Hey?

00:30:25
Speaker 10: I'm one of those kind of crazy people that I'm a UK alumnus.

00:30:29
Speaker 8: I'm been a big fan.

00:30:30
Speaker 10: But actually right now I'm taking the hiatus away from the Cats for I'm gonna say three years because s mart Pope won't make it pass next year. And I'm gonna tell you the reason.

00:30:39
Speaker 8: Why I'm doing this.

00:30:40
Speaker 10: I actually think we needed more of a reset between coach and fan relationships, and Kyle had shut it down. The divorce was needed, cal had shut it down. He was just doing things to piss off the fans right now. Yesterday what he was saying, al doesn't say anything without knowing who he's infected. And I'm gonna tell you the reason why the reason why I I feel and I think the fans cut my way look at getting what they deserve. They're trying to sell Mark Pope to us. And he kind of came in with the Jim Jones drank the kool aid. Hey, we're gonna get name on the front of the jersey, we want the number nine banners all this. He is right about right about one thing. He did get his number round. He got the number nine seed of the FDC Ternal. But you're talking about before.

00:31:22
Speaker 3: Let me ask you a question. When you say you're taking a hiatus from the fan from from the gate, what do you mean? I mean, like, clearly you're listening to this show. You're not complete.

00:31:33
Speaker 10: I love the show. I love the show. I'm taken from Kentucky besk. They can't right now this year, they can't lose enough for me because I want I want the fantasy. Kind of realized that hey, things warn't as bad as we really thought about.

00:31:45
Speaker 3: Granted how much that doesn't make Hang on a second, that doesn't make sense to me because if you I don't understand how you can have the position that it was time for cal to go. But the fans need to be punished. For no realizing what they had that those two things don't don't don't work for me, that.

00:32:05
Speaker 10: I think they do, but sumple fact of the matter, and as easy people say, he went so many years, but that that is true. But this guy didn't give a lot to this program. Yeah we got a guy agree, but.

00:32:15
Speaker 3: You agree that, but you agree that it was time for him to go.

00:32:20
Speaker 10: He got tired of every day Joe's or basketball Bennies as he called, telling to tell him what he thinks and to me and is to me as a hall of fame, you can see what you want to say about Wait.

00:32:30
Speaker 3: A minute, now, you're you're saying you keep saying inconsistent things. Though you're right there were basketball ben he's telling him. But you yourself just two minutes ago, say he had shut it down and was not trying. Didn't fans have a real Is it reasonable to complain about that?

00:32:48
Speaker 10: That is reasonable? What part of the reason is he didn't get any support? They cut his legs down from money? Also true?

00:32:53
Speaker 3: Well, no, first, when you say support, hang on just a second. When you say support, there are two different kinds of support. There's the support that comes from the university, and I think there were some reasonable complaints that some of that wasn't there, but part of it was. Part of the head coach's job is to have relationships and to be able to get donors involved, and in the last few years, Col refused to do that. That's on him. That's really not the administration.

00:33:22
Speaker 10: He didn't count down to people.

00:33:24
Speaker 3: And when you say cow down, it's not forget about Listen, everybody always focuses on the crafts and the crafts. You know, you don't have to like the crafts. You don't have to talk to like im politically couldn't be more different from him. But as people, the crafts give more to Kentucky than anyone, all right, and we'll always but they're not the only ones. Hang on, They're not the only ones. Col had lost donors all up and down the board. Everybody focuses on two people, and I really don't think that's fair to them. He had lost donors all up and down the board.

00:34:02
Speaker 10: Right, I see what you're saying that, Hey, can I get one more thing and I'll leave you alone on this.

00:34:06
Speaker 8: Okay.

00:34:07
Speaker 10: We talked about and one of the big, one of the big things that complained about cal modern offense. It's amazing when you have good players out how Maud of your offense looks art. I saw that Ivers in ninety eight games, shooting like thirty nine percent from three. We never would have saw that here at Kentucky because he wasn't gonna get support, because he wasn't gonna get all the other players that he needs.

00:34:24
Speaker 3: You gotta stop, you gotta stop with the support. Cali Perry was losing in these games before nil even existed. Okay, like like Cali Perry was. We went thirteen and we went whatever it was, thirteen to nineteen or whatever our record was during COVID, before an Ile and before the Portal. So I just don't even want to hearth.

00:34:43
Speaker 10: It was crazy then though Matt Duke was terrible that year too. I mean everybody, I mean, it was crazy that you all right.

00:34:51
Speaker 3: I appreciate the call. Okay, you, I will say, and I appreciate you listening to the show, and that's good. But you that mindset is one I do not understand this idea of I want to teach the UK fans a lesson. You are a UK fan. I'm gonna use a political analogy. I get really mad when my fellow Democrats want bad things to happen to the US because they don't like Trump. That doesn't help us, Like that doesn't Why would you want that? You shouldn't want that. You should want us to do well, even if you don't like the guy. Same thing with Kentucky, Like do you how could you not want us to succeed? To teach us a lesson? Like I'm not in school. I don't need to be told lesson.

00:35:33
Speaker 2: I want to win basketball.

00:35:37
Speaker 3: I don't say I don't. I don't get that. And now he's called many times he's a good guy, but I don't. I don't get that. Tell me about Stockton Mortgage.

00:35:43
Speaker 2: Oh, Stockton Mortgage. I'm so glad you asked.

00:35:45
Speaker 3: You know.

00:36:09
Speaker 3: Back to you, Matt, he must have had the script today, Shannon.

00:36:12
Speaker 5: He was ready.

00:36:13
Speaker 3: He was ready. He's like I was going to look right here.

00:36:18
Speaker 2: He had it, slept it a holiday and express lesson turn the form.

00:36:23
Speaker 3: I did have a request. Somebody came up to me in Nashville and said, can you ask Ryan to please get new jokes? So maybe you should get like a joke book. Why don't we find him a joke book? Yeah, just five new jokes and stop cussing and no more sex talk. That's what I'm asking for from Ryan, at least through April inconsistency. I do like this song, shann right. This is like been, But I don't know if I've ever heard this one. I'm home at the Cadillac Ranch. You don't know this one. I don't think I remember this one. I don't think it got big. But maybe when Guard sang that song that mentioned him, then this kind of reappeared.

00:37:04
Speaker 5: Yeah, Garth mentioned you. You got to put out a song after that.

00:37:06
Speaker 3: Because I mean that was when Garth was like Garth, you know, I mean massive, This very rarely happens, but a text message came on the text machine that made me giggle the entire break. Shandon was like, what are you giggling?

00:37:22
Speaker 5: Here is you're laughing? And what's going on OVERU?

00:37:24
Speaker 3: So eight five nine four nine two had a text messag where he says, Matt, you saying if everyone is smoking one, how much does a pound of marijuana do? Is one of the funniest things you've ever said. Accidentally, that does sound like the least personally, that sounds like the nerdiest thing a person could say. If everyone smokes one marijuana how much? How much? How much does a pound do? I don't really you that's fair, that's not a very.

00:37:58
Speaker 7: Four year old vision. He says how much many pots of you smoking? That is like, how many pots of you smoking?

00:38:05
Speaker 3: I'm not I'm not really. I mean, I'm not really a drug person, so I can't. I have to rely on my experts, which this.

00:38:16
Speaker 5: Is nobody on this show is an expert.

00:38:19
Speaker 3: All of you are more expert than me. Everyone involved with this show except I don't know what Billy's situation is, but all the rest of them. Ryan, that's not true either.

00:38:29
Speaker 2: Oh, it is definitely true, I've been to Denver with you, and then that's like the one of two times I've ever took a gummy that's two.

00:38:37
Speaker 3: More than me. So there you go. So there, so there you go. Are we talking about here something?

00:38:46
Speaker 2: We gotta tell that story? That's funny?

00:38:49
Speaker 3: Well, that one's that's impressive? Should we have to? We have two really good Vegas and Denver story? Yes, the scene Josh Hopkins' short film won the Oscars? About that? That nice Josh Hopkins. Josh is very big on like I just had like I was just like one of the producers. Not but still I'm he should claim it. And it tied with that French people kissing Saliva movie. Right, there was only the seventh tie in Oscar's history, So two different things won because it was a tie. Do you think they should have a tie breaker? If ever, if two got the same amount of votes.

00:39:32
Speaker 2: And there's like four thousand people that vote, and the fact that ends in a tie is pretty incredible, So what are you gonna have it?

00:39:38
Speaker 3: I don't even know which. Yeah, I don't think you could have a tie breaker really, because then you'd have to tell people that there were the two that tied and then why I drew with the other three people show up right, So I think, uh, I think you just give it a tie. So congrats to the singers on Netflix.

00:39:54
Speaker 7: Yeah, congrats to Josh who wrote, produce and sing in it. I think even ran the camera. I can't wait for you. Get your way to go, Josh. You know now we all talked about a lot. You know, he recommended it. It really was really good. I hope people will listen to us and watch it.

00:40:07
Speaker 3: It's twenty minutes. Everybody got twenty minutes in them And uh, Channon, did you ever watch it?

00:40:14
Speaker 5: No, but I'm going to I've got to go back and watch it.

00:40:16
Speaker 3: Really good. It's twenty minutes and uh and now it's an Oscar winner, and congrats and congrats to the French people with Salava as well. Who's up next? Go to Terry, Terry, go ahead and Terry.

00:40:30
Speaker 6: And piggyback a little bit after something you said in the opening of the first hour, what were it drives me crazy about our fan bases. They're going to be worried about Santa Clair. You're gonna be worried because they can hit some threes. I've seen him play several times they're like anybody else, no credit.

00:40:45
Speaker 3: Win and they'll get no credit when they win.

00:40:47
Speaker 6: Yeh No, not so much that. Let's say Santa Clara wins. Oh post gotta go. You can't lose this air I work Kentucky.

00:40:55
Speaker 3: I mean.

00:40:57
Speaker 6: That's the mindset that they have.

00:40:59
Speaker 8: Now.

00:40:59
Speaker 6: I will say, yeah, Iowa States good, I get it, but I don't take I don't take Santa Clair for granted. If we were playing Dolls, I'd be worried. But if we get by them, Iowa State's not Michigan that can be beat I mean I've seen him play bad. Uh And but I will say one thing. I'll let you go as far as our our run being long. Always can't have another game like your head against Florida or we're done, I'll hang up.

00:41:26
Speaker 3: UNS totally agree. I think everything you just said is one hundred per accurate. We can, we should beat Santa Clair, and if we don't, it's a failure. But Iowa State can be beaten. We're not gonna be favored and we shouldn't beat but they can be beaten. They are not Arizona, they are not Duke, they are not Michigan. They are a beatable team. And then Virginia and Tennessee. If we were to get to the next round, they are beatable. We got a chance to have beatable teams, which is what I wanted. And now you actually have to go uh and do it. Court Physical Therapy.
