00:01:41
Speaker 4: That's exactly right. A couple thanks here. We got folks on the phone. I want to get to but I do think it's worth noting. Officially, yesterday, MTV stopped showing videos on any channels. The video era has ended on MTV.

00:02:00
Speaker 2: It's kind of sad because we were all that age we grew up when MTV kind of exploded. I remember hustle home on a Friday night to watch Friday night videos and then when MTV came on, like, oh my goodness, what is this?

00:02:10
Speaker 4: What do you think?

00:02:10
Speaker 3: Well, I didn't even know that they were still running video, but they still had other channels.

00:02:13
Speaker 4: They had like five or six channels of videos like MTV Hip Hop, MTV ninety MTV. Yeah.

00:02:19
Speaker 3: I can't think of another channel that was like four its time, like and it's time the channel now like nothing?

00:02:24
Speaker 5: Like do you never forget it's even on the air.

00:02:26
Speaker 4: When I was a kid, I watched two channels, ESPN and MTV. That was it. Yep, didn't you wouldn't. We wouldn't have had to have any other channels. In high school, I would watch ESPN, MTV.

00:02:36
Speaker 2: Well, grew up that MTV era.

00:02:38
Speaker 4: I'm read, I'm read. I read a book right at the end of last year. I highly recommend Cue the Sun, which the history of reality TV, and they talk a lot about the real world, but they also talk about the influence MTV has yeah had. Okay, So with that mind, before videos like Go Away Forever, I will to ask you what are the five most iconic music videos of all time? Before we pick them, let's just do some contenders. Okay, all right, contenders most iconic music video of all.

00:03:07
Speaker 2: Time, Thriller gotta be number one, Thriller's.

00:03:10
Speaker 4: Gotta be on it? Uh smells like teen spirit Yeah, okay, Uh what else?

00:03:19
Speaker 2: Well for my era, that video Take On Take On Me because it was like half cartoon, half real and the real people more cartoon. That was so incredibly awesome.

00:03:29
Speaker 4: Part of it might be their first video they played channing that money for Nothing the dis because it was the first ever video.

00:03:36
Speaker 5: No, no, you're thinking of radio killed video kill video.

00:03:40
Speaker 4: Killed the radio, sir, You're exactly right, You're exactly right. What else? Britney spears Hit Me Baby one more time?

00:03:49
Speaker 2: That's that's probably got.

00:03:50
Speaker 4: That's gotta be on there because everybody knows it and everybody the schoolgirl thing.

00:03:55
Speaker 5: Like Gangster's Paradise was big for it. I was like it was on all the time.

00:04:02
Speaker 4: See, maybe if you want to pick a hip hop one, is it gonna be like nothing but a g thing? Yeah, because we all can see like Snoop Dogg waking up and he gets out of bed one, two, three into the four Snoop Doggie Dog and Doctor dre is at the door, keep going. I mean I could, but I'm not going to.

00:04:22
Speaker 2: We've got to be missing a couple.

00:04:23
Speaker 4: Now there's a bunch. What's Madonna's biggest one? Like a prayer?

00:04:26
Speaker 2: Like a prayer?

00:04:27
Speaker 4: Vote? What about the one with the guys Robert Palmer and the girls? Oh, yes, you know what I'm talking about. The women are like.

00:04:35
Speaker 2: Might as well face that you're addicted to love and they're playing they're playing the guitar behind him.

00:04:40
Speaker 4: Is that the one he's doing that on? I thought that was the one he was doing it where he's so that was a very iconic image. What else you mentioned Madonna? There was a couple of herb videos got banned from MTV. Oh yeah, there's some of her videos were very salty. I know we're forgetting people who are I love Genie in the box what I was saying, But I don't know if that's on the list, but anyway people can put it on and well, because I want to pick the five, I think, without question, Oh oh, November Rain.

00:05:12
Speaker 5: Yes, yeah, that's a good one.

00:05:13
Speaker 4: Yeah, so I think without question, you've got to have Michael Jackson thriller smells like teen Spirit And I'm gonna go ahead and say November Rain because that was like this epic, you know, performance of a video.

00:05:25
Speaker 2: There's got to be a Madonna one. She helped Skyrocket MTV with.

00:05:29
Speaker 4: Her video, and there needs to be like a rap one because they all it was at the end was wrapping boy bands.

00:05:35
Speaker 5: So well, yeah, like I want it. That way was on constantly.

00:05:40
Speaker 4: I want it. That way was on there. It was or bye bye bye the hands.

00:05:45
Speaker 5: All the small things was on there all the time.

00:05:48
Speaker 4: All right, Well, people can have their suggestions.

00:05:51
Speaker 5: Who's up first, ship, Let's go to Ben.

00:05:53
Speaker 4: Ben. Go ahead, Ben.

00:05:56
Speaker 6: Hey, guys, I appreciate you taking my call, just what I call in and kind of talk about basketball a bit. But I mean, this can't go on much longer. I mean, what message does it send, you know, to the college basketball world if we accept this. You know, I don't think this team laye any tournament, much less then cub A tournament. We've got no recruiting, no energy, bizarre interviews. You know, he finally started the correct lineup last night, but not on his own accord. That's after there was a buzz about it all week. You know, so posts lost and you know that's proven by the statistics in the ies boat.

00:06:35
Speaker 4: So yeah, I mean, I understand. I appreciate the call. They did start the right lineup. We weren't. We didn't get behind in the first segment. We did get behind as soon as we put the reserves in, but uh it was six six, so the first time out, that was better than it's been some games.

00:06:50
Speaker 2: So he started the right lineup. Well, we really haven't talked about the lineup. He finished the game with.

00:06:57
Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean I didn't like that they didn't have quite at first of all, Let's let me just go through diabatee for the second straight game. Was a huge part of the vickery. Yes, which is why I don't think he was playing At the end.

00:07:12
Speaker 2: Mario was sitting on the floor since the I said, he's arguing with everybody.

00:07:15
Speaker 4: You said, Mario, he's arguing with everybody, and in the car just said a go, minutego. He was arguing with Pope. He's arguing with everybody. And he did it against Alabama two. And I don't want to throw the kid on the bus. I don't think we lost because of that. But he did not play well and he argued with everybody. That the the the play that sticks out to me and Dame Bradshaw, who I think is a really good. Analyst pointed it out that they had a high low with Moreno. Yes, Diabate doesn't throw him the ball and then yells at him.

00:07:40
Speaker 2: Waited too long to throw it, waited too.

00:07:42
Speaker 4: Long and then yelled at him. I think there's a lot of that. I think there's a lot of people. There's a lot of frustration I think amongst the team about Diabonte and so then he didn't play the last six or seven minutes, did not so but Garrison, to be fair, Garrison Moreno were playing pretty well, even though they made a lot of errors down the stretch.

00:08:02
Speaker 2: I just don't know with a minute to go fifty three seconds where they they called time out and set up a play and they put the ball in Brandon Garrison's hands to initiate the offense and then he threw it away. Yeah, I just don't know if that's the right move to make at that time with Brandon.

00:08:17
Speaker 4: The aerosmith Alicia Silverstone videos.

00:08:20
Speaker 5: Yeah, uh huh, crazy asman.

00:08:23
Speaker 4: I had such a crush on Alicia Silverstone. She was huge and in that time, what about what was the one with Chris Isaac with that woman on the beach?

00:08:32
Speaker 7: I don't want to fall in love. No, it's wicked game game Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's right. Yeah, I love that woman. I don't even know who that is, but that I was as a kid, I was in love with her. Do you even know her name?

00:08:44
Speaker 4: Who was that?

00:08:45
Speaker 2: I'm trying to think who it was.

00:08:47
Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't either black or white. With Michael Jackson, Oh.

00:08:50
Speaker 2: That was great with the people morphed into each other. Yes, you know, Tyra Banks was one of those.

00:08:56
Speaker 4: This band wasn't big, but I think one of the more iconic videos Shannon was that Jamiroqua video where he's on the treadmills. Yeah, you know, do you.

00:09:06
Speaker 2: Remember that for that one?

00:09:07
Speaker 5: Virtual insanity?

00:09:08
Speaker 4: Virtual insanity? Yeah? I mean nobody that song in that band doesn't really matter, but that video was very at the time sort of thing.

00:09:16
Speaker 2: Janet Jackson walking down the beach.

00:09:18
Speaker 4: I knew you're gonna I knew you were gonna say James Jackson. I knew I would have predicted any amount of money you were going to say, James Jackson. Who's next? Drew?

00:09:26
Speaker 8: Go ahead, Drew, Hey, guys, longtime fan here, been following you, guys, kiss our specifically since I was in high school. I'm tired of talking about the same things every week. Really, it's it's just getting redundant for me. I'm gonna throw something else at you guys, a little, a little game.

00:09:42
Speaker 9: Would you rather do you rather win?

00:09:46
Speaker 4: Uh?

00:09:46
Speaker 6: Pretty much all year?

00:09:47
Speaker 9: Maybe five losses on the season? Uh, make the tournament and lose in the sweet sixteen or before, or have a season like we're having now, somehow sneak in with a ten seed like said, and make a run into the eliteat or final four. I really can'te God, I want to win, but I also.

00:10:07
Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, I will always pick tournament success. I mean I the example you would say is like, would you rather have the Oscar year we lost to Saint Peter's or would you rather have the h Harrison Twins year where we get to the championship game. I'm always gonna take the Harrison's year, because you know, when I'm ninety years old, and I appreciate the call it, I'm laying on my deathbed and I'm and to the extent I'm thinking about UK basketball at this point. However, you know, the world may have burned up and I may just be but let's just say that it exists, and I'm thinking about UK basketball. When I'm thinking about the things that were the best, that twenty fourteen runs gonna be up there. I can't remember much being more exciting than those games against Wichita State, Louisville, Michigan, and Wisconsin. So I think ultimately the tournament success as well, I'm always gonna pick.

00:10:57
Speaker 2: Yeah, you definitely take that. That's that twenty fourteen run we don't remember. I don't remember a lot of the struggles they had during the regular season. We remember that March Madness run. So if he's asking me which what I'm taking, I'm definitely taken.

00:11:07
Speaker 4: That real slim, shady good one because they had all the people that look like yeah, run DMC, walk this way. Yep.

00:11:17
Speaker 2: That was one of the first big breakout videos.

00:11:19
Speaker 4: Was it California Love Tupac? Yeah, I'll tell you when they played a lot meat Loaf.

00:11:26
Speaker 2: No, I wouldn't do anything is horrible?

00:11:30
Speaker 4: Wow? Does that whatn't seems to me? That's that's the first one you've had a big reaction to. You don't like meat Loaf, Shannon.

00:11:35
Speaker 5: No, I don't like the musician or the food.

00:11:39
Speaker 4: You don't like the food.

00:11:42
Speaker 2: Is awful.

00:11:43
Speaker 4: Okay, wow, so you hate both the musician and the food.

00:11:46
Speaker 3: Don't give me meat loaf. Don't want to hear it, don't want to taste it.

00:11:49
Speaker 4: I feel like meat loaf is a grandmother food. It is like, I mean, yeah, who makes meat loaf? That's not a grandmother cracker barrel.

00:12:00
Speaker 5: That's grandmother stuff though, yeah.

00:12:02
Speaker 4: I mean cracker barrel. I think that people working in the kitchen are all grandmothers.

00:12:06
Speaker 2: Yoga girl makes a great meat loaf. That's one of my favorite thing she makes. Does she just cook for you all the time?

00:12:13
Speaker 4: Yeah? A lot of the time? Is that? Why keep her around? Sweetie? I saw your visceral reaction, man, I saw your reaction. So people say to me, mad, how come you're not married? My man over here? This is why that's this is why this will be the third is because he says things like that.

00:12:40
Speaker 2: Oh, sugar booger, I'm kiddies.

00:12:42
Speaker 4: That's also not a sweet bugger, sugar booger. No woman wants to be called a sugar booger.

00:12:49
Speaker 2: We'll probably pay for that one.

00:12:51
Speaker 4: Yeah. By the way, people are all using that picture of me in the hat and the sweater. Now, yeah, it's like a meme. I don't kill I like that picture. I think it's good.

00:13:01
Speaker 2: The real photo of you is good. The memes are now getting really hilarious. I'm gonna put a big beard on you. So I only had a big beard on you. One of them. You have like a hippie haircut on you.

00:13:12
Speaker 4: That's fine. I think the funniest one was the first one with the one with the little kid. That was good too. I thought that was the best one.

00:13:18
Speaker 2: Have they picked that one to be your profile pick?

00:13:21
Speaker 4: I don't know, I don't know. I never heard.

00:13:23
Speaker 2: I kept waiting for Tom Hart to make him put a reference about those photos too last night.

00:13:27
Speaker 4: Well, how's he gonna reference that?

00:13:29
Speaker 2: I don't know. He's pretty good at that kind of thing.

00:13:30
Speaker 4: All right, who's next, Dustin, Dustin? Go ahead, Dustin.

00:13:35
Speaker 10: Yeah, this squarely falls on Pope's shoulders. You cannot make otega Oway the centerpiece of your team. I mean, don't get me wrong, he's our best player. However, last year I told my friends, all my buddies a due Heiro was better. Otega Oway is a poor man's Michael kick Gil Chris and with Mitch Bark This is his fault as well. Jay am I things Pope can't recruit, this is Barnhardt Hire. What's the deal on him stepping away? Is that true?

00:14:04
Speaker 4: Well? I mean I still believe my dad is still that he does. Uh you know, I think it's one of those things that maybe me saying it makes it more resilient to stay. I don't know, but I still think it's more likely that he does. I think, I mean, the contract says what it does. The contract allows him that, it's allowed him to start stepping away right now. I also think it's just the right time. There's so much transition happening at UK. I still believe it's the right time. I've taken some heat from the folks at UK for saying that, but I still believe it's it's the case and that, and so I still think he will, and I mean I honestly still think he should.

00:14:42
Speaker 2: So with the basketball season going south a little bit, is he more of a guy that wants to get out now out of getting's good or we'll kind of we'll see it resurrection.

00:14:50
Speaker 4: There's a part of Mitch I think that would think I gotta stay here and rot leave the ship. Correct Before I leave.

00:14:57
Speaker 2: I think so too. I think he's that kind of guy. He wants to leave his legacy and with everything on solid ground.

00:15:02
Speaker 4: Yeah, the reality of Kentucky right now, if you can't find affordable childcare a place to live, it's hard to take jobs and businesses can't grow was short. Tens were short, tens of thousands of childcare spots and parents when they can't find childcare, they're forced to cut hours and leave the work foot force. We are trying to tell Frankfort at the Kentucky Chamber fix this. Go to opportunity starts here dot com to add your name today. Opportunity starts here dot com to add your name today with the Kentucky Chamber.

00:15:32
Speaker 2: Little thing to watch.

00:15:33
Speaker 4: I don't know if it means much, but somebody filed a bill yesterday that would force Kentucky and Louisville to play Eastern, Western, Northern, Murray State, and morehead in quote as many sports as possible every year. What if they made us play them every year in basketball, all those schools, that's what the bill says.

00:15:53
Speaker 5: I'm gonna get playing one.

00:15:55
Speaker 4: Government was on the list. It was only the public schools.

00:15:59
Speaker 2: I'm okay doing one. A year.

00:16:00
Speaker 4: You can't force him to play five, can't. You cannot force those schools to play all five that that would be they got, They would have to vote that down.

00:16:07
Speaker 5: That's that's half your non conference schedule.

00:16:09
Speaker 4: I mean, that's half your basketball skit. Yeah, so you can't do that. We'll take a break right back Skis TV. See. I feel like this is definitely one nothing and you chicks for free. Yeah, this is certainly one in my opinion. I feel like this was like it had the little tech and everything, and it was it was one.

00:16:30
Speaker 2: I got a couple others. Okay, go for it, Freedom George Michael where he's not even in the video. It's all the supermodels singing the song.

00:16:38
Speaker 4: I actually don't remember that one. That just feels like one you would remember.

00:16:42
Speaker 2: Pretty iconic. Okay, what about the White Snake video with Tony That one.

00:16:45
Speaker 4: Definitely where she's on the car. Yes, yes, yeah, it's not surprising, Shannon, he picks all the slightly.

00:16:52
Speaker 5: You don't say warrant cherry Pie.

00:16:54
Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean I'm I'm kind of surprised he didn't. That was next. Let's go some more in here your uh seal kiss from a Rose. I feel like they did show that one a lot. Yeah, uh, that was a big one. Let's see, I've got I wonder what.

00:17:09
Speaker 2: The most played video ever on MTV is.

00:17:12
Speaker 4: That's a great question.

00:17:13
Speaker 2: I don't know, may be to look that up.

00:17:15
Speaker 4: It's probably that would be a good question for trivia, right, don't.

00:17:18
Speaker 2: You think top videos ever on MTV.

00:17:21
Speaker 4: I'm trying to think of the ones where they're like I can image a moment from them, so like I can image like Beastie Boys sabotage, I can see what they look like when they were doing that shit, you know what I mean? And uh mc hammer can't touch this with the hammer pants.

00:17:35
Speaker 2: Oh yeah, that's a good one.

00:17:37
Speaker 3: Yeah, that's a good According to Google, you want to know thee what they say the most part of MTV and MTV history is Sledgehammer by Peter Gabriel.

00:17:44
Speaker 4: That felt like the one. Huh. I think that's I think that's a good one. I can also like Billy I'd a white wedding.

00:17:51
Speaker 2: Yes, another good one.

00:17:53
Speaker 3: Yeah, these are old told Son was the freakiest music scared me.

00:17:57
Speaker 11: Yeah.

00:17:57
Speaker 4: I didn't like the way their faces all morphed and all that. One person writes Matt You're an hour and a half into this, you still haven't say anything about what happened in Minnesota yesterday. I'm going to I'm gonna mention something on that, but I'm gonna give people notice so that they can if they don't want to listen, not get mad, because I actually have a legal way of looking at it. But I'm gonna wait, I'll do that. I'll do that next segment, so you can run away if you don't want to hear that. Okay, I think that's fair. Right, we talk about what's.

00:18:26
Speaker 2: Going on in our country. That's definitely a big topic.

00:18:28
Speaker 4: Did you see the tennis player who entered into the professional tournament and had never played tennis? What? I already loved this story. I don't know where it's going. Have you seen this video? No best video on the internet. You gotta look it up. It's a women's tennis tournament. It is a professional tournament. It is like a the way the tennis tour works, there's like six or seven tournaments every week somewhere around the world. The big ones are there, but then they are also little ones. Yes, and sometimes everybody outside the top ten plays in the little ones too, Right, it's one. I want to say it's in India, but it is a professional tournament and a woman enters, and if you watch the video, it looks like she doesn't she doesn't know where to serve from it. She doesn't even know the rules. I no one has written how she got in the tournament?

00:19:18
Speaker 2: How do they allow that?

00:19:19
Speaker 4: You've got to watch the video. She can't hit the ball. She somehow scored three points. I think because twice the other person double fault. I don't know why you would double fault. Why don't you just dink it over the next right? She can't hit it, but watch her try to serve. She misses the ball once. Well, you know we all got behind the breakdancer. This this is different. Though the breakdancer clearly had break danced. I don't think this person had ever played tennis before.

00:19:46
Speaker 2: How did she get into the tournament?

00:19:47
Speaker 4: I don't know, Shannon, are you watching?

00:19:50
Speaker 3: I'm watching it right now. She's hitting it like it's badminton or something like. She's not even She swings and misses the first time, drops the ball, hits her foot, picks it back up, and then like just barely lobs it over the net.

00:20:01
Speaker 4: Does it look like she's ever played no and she's in a pro tennis tournament.

00:20:08
Speaker 5: You need to see if anybody in there apparently what.

00:20:10
Speaker 4: It's it's Yeah, I want to know how she got in. Do you think they just like somebody didn't show up and they were just like anybody here want to play?

00:20:17
Speaker 2: And she stepped over.

00:20:19
Speaker 4: There this racket.

00:20:20
Speaker 2: I got a racket. I'll play.

00:20:22
Speaker 4: It's it's it is a it's an unbelievable video. Who's next, Dan, Dan?

00:20:26
Speaker 11: Go ahead, Dan, Matt, give me some context. Is I'm a retired minister and I a big time listener. Have agreed with you most everything you've said through the years. But this this thing and your mom's going to seminary, it's called cultural context. We do we interpret the Bible, we use cultural context. I think you and many of our fans are missing the context here. We keep talking about this twenty two million, But how do it Somebody do a percentage of the minutes for the players who are getting the most money, and particularly those that haven't played hardly all year.

00:21:06
Speaker 4: Yeah, it's a totally fair point. That's a totally fair point, sir, But that's partially still though about what you decide to do. I mean, there are some people who've made the argument you shouldn't be playing. You're paying your ninth, tenth, eleventh, and twelfth man as much money because you're not using them, and you should have used that more on the top eight. You see what I'm saying.

00:21:29
Speaker 12: Yeah, but that's easy to say now, Matt. Indeed, I mean Quainton's last night, My goodness, I was right under the basket when he had a chance to grab the ball twice. He had the ball taken away from him. He's not in game shape, and they're just not being able to play together. I just think everybody is trashing him. A matter of fact, one of your writers even referred Jack, who I love, referred to some of the players might even be mercenaries because they're taking the money. And I just think we're getting into character issues.

00:22:01
Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't like. Don't I agree with him? You don't want to, You don't want to get agree with that.

00:22:07
Speaker 11: Yeah, we're so jumping on him right now that he deserves a chance, He deserves the benefit of the doll. When I was coming back to the game last night, listen to the show. When you see things like you know, Mark does not understand the kid. He doesn't understand what he's doing. I mean, honestly, Matt, he knows more in his little finger than you and I will ever know about it.

00:22:27
Speaker 4: Of course, but you don't want to use your phrase cultural context. Okay, does he know more than you and I? Yes, but that's ultimately not the question. The question is does he know more in the game than Dennis Gates? Who he's playing? How does he okay with?

00:22:44
Speaker 11: His record is the first three years?

00:22:47
Speaker 2: Dennis Gates first year, first three years.

00:22:50
Speaker 4: Let me take a skates Dennis Skates record is first year. I wanted one in seventeen and he just came in and got Missouri's first win ever in Reperina. That's an amazing turner round.

00:23:01
Speaker 11: Well, that wasn't instro. I don't believe that was his first record a Missouri anyway. His first three years were fifty five and forty six. Nate Oates for the first year was sixty one and thirty six. First three years. We have we've got to give this guy a benefit of the doubt, get him through this with the consequences.

00:23:19
Speaker 4: It's a fair point, totally fair point. But again, the comp comparison is not me and Mark Pope. It's Mark Pope and Natos. We'll take a break and be right back. It's KSR. TJ. Smith, personal injury attorney called TJ. He'll make them.

00:23:32
Speaker 3: Pay now more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage.

00:23:36
Speaker 5: Here's Matt Jones.

00:23:37
Speaker 4: So we would I think we would all agree thrillers number one gotta be what is November Rain? Number two?

00:23:44
Speaker 5: Smells like teen Spirit.

00:23:46
Speaker 4: I could go with smells like teen Spirit one either one or I could go with November Rain. I think they're two, three and one order. Do you agree? Shannon?

00:23:54
Speaker 5: Probably so, yeah, And I think I can go a lot of.

00:23:56
Speaker 4: Different ways of four or five. Huh. Some other suggestions, Tom Petty, don't come around here no more with the because that was wasn't that the Alice in Wonderland one?

00:24:06
Speaker 11: Oh?

00:24:06
Speaker 2: Yes it was?

00:24:08
Speaker 4: Yeah, that was I think a really good one.

00:24:11
Speaker 2: I think that Madonna's got to be on the top five.

00:24:14
Speaker 4: Corn with the bullet, you know, Shannon with the bullet freaking out and then share on the battleship.

00:24:21
Speaker 2: Yes, right, yeah, that's pretty time.

00:24:25
Speaker 4: That's an iconic one. I think it's tough after the top three. I think those are very solid. Top three, I agree with you Madonna's Gotta be on it. But which one of Madonna's is like the most iconic? Is it like a prayer? Like I'm excuse me, like a virgin?

00:24:39
Speaker 2: You know, there were so many that you know, MTV would count down to the debut of her or Michael Jackson's video. You have to you know, twenty four hour countdown.

00:24:47
Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't know.

00:24:48
Speaker 2: Those three I think are also solid.

00:24:51
Speaker 4: But then after that, I I don't know. Okay, So now if you if you don't want to hear this, uh, turn it off for three minutes and then you can you can come back on. I do want to talk just one second about what happened in Minnesota, because it's I think a really sad tragedy and I hate, I hate the way we talk about this stuff now. I posted last night a couple times, one of which I took down because even I didn't like my own tone about it. But you know, you watched it. We've all seen the video. We don't really know what happened before or after it, but we've seen the video. It's awful. It's a tragedy, and I wish that everybody who had a take on it, and there are a lot of takes to have, would just acknowledge that to start with, it's an absolute tragedy. Somebody died, and I don't think it was necessary. Whatever else you want to say about it, it wasn't necessary. She should not have pulled like she should have stopped. There was no reason for her to drive it. But she also didn't need to be killed. In my opinion, both those things can be true. Right. You can say that she made a mistake in but you also can say, I don't know, did she need to be killed? You can also say that both people involved made mistakes, but that also doesn't necessarily mean they're the worst person in the world, right, Like, I think it's I think it's an absolute shame that there were leaders of our government out there calling her a domestic terrorst You don't know this woman. Thirty minutes after it's over, the Department of Homeland Security leader is out there calling her a domestic tears Shame on you. You don't know her. Now, maybe I don't know her, maybe something I don't know, but like maybe it's just a woman who made a mistake. She was protesting. She like parks in the middle of the road, and maybe in the heat of a second she makes a mistake and moves her car when she shouldn't. It doesn't make her a terrorist, Like, come on, have some sympathy. I give credit. I actually saw some members of government not doing that, including the tom the leads the borders are who I've never really liked. He actually said, I don't want to say anything because I don't know enough about it. Good for you, that's the kind of thing you should say. Right. Also, though the cop you know my side, is very quick often to indict these people are the ice guy. I think these ice people need more training. I've talked to people that say they're putting some people in these ice rolls real quickly that don't have the training for it. I talked to some people in law enforcement yesterday who said they teach law enforcement don't ever come from the front for that very reason, for that very reason. But you know what, he might have gotten scared and in the moment did something really stupid, or that he regrets, or maybe he didn't. I don't know, but you know what, nobody else does either. So I would just say, now from a legal perspective, there was. I posted a thread about how it will be interpreted legally read it. A lot of people argued with it, and I was like, look, you may not agree with it, but this is the legal question. The standard, and the Supreme Court just changed this last year. The standard is was it necessary and reasonable the moment? Objectively? Doesn't matter what the officer himself think it's objectively. Now, you can watch that video and you can have different conclusions. You can think it was reasonable or not based on your own conclusion. But that's the legal standard, and each shot has to be legal meaning. So I watched the video. In the first shot, I could see how he thought he was gonna be hit. Do you need to kill the person? I don't think so, But I'm not an officer. I can't say that. I don't deal with that on a day to day basis, you know. But then the second and third one from the side, I think it's a lot harder argument for him. Then they're already driving away. But it also happens in a millisecond, right, so I can't have a powerful, strong force. I see people online They're like, he's a murderer, she's a terrorist. We've got to decide what kind of country we want to live in. Do we want to live in a country where we just immediately see something and just decide that the other person is just awful, or do we want to say that is an awful thing that happened. There's a kid out there that doesn't have a mother, and there's this video and it's awful, and we just go Can we just take a step back and say, do we want to do this for the next fifty years just go at each other all the time? Or can we go, man, that's unfortunate or bad. How do we stop things like this from happening in the future. That's just my take on it, and I felt like I wanted to.

00:29:34
Speaker 2: Say it well said did a good job.

00:29:37
Speaker 4: From a legal perspective, just now, just strictly law, he's a federal agent. If the state were to decide to charge him, and I have no idea if they would, it would get removed to federal court, so it would not be in state court, be in federal court. The standard would be was it necessary and appropriate? Also, you have the situation where the president, people say can the president pardon him? No, it would be a state case. Murders a state case, but it would be in federal court, and there's a legal standard. There's an opinion the Supreme Court just released last year about this very issue, a conservative Supreme Court that actually made it. Used to be cops federal agents could avoid being charged ever in state court. Now that's not true anymore. Sometimes again, people see the Supreme Court, they go out, they're conservative. They actually made it easier for officers to be charged last year. I think in the end he won't get charged, or if he does, it'll get dismissed for a variety of reasons that if you ever see me offline, can talk about. But it still is a tragedy, and our leaders shouldn't get up and call the dead woman a terrorist when she just got murdered. I just that's my take on it. But I'm also not gonna say that the ICE agent that it was crazy to do it, because I mean, he probably was scared to the reality is ask anybody in law enforcement who's doing with Ice. They'll all tell you the same thing. These people people are not trained enough. They're putting these people on the job after two or three months and they're not trained enough. And I had a friend say to me recently. He predicted this, He said, this is gonna happen. These people are not trained enough. And I think you saw that yesterday.

00:31:17
Speaker 2: How can you give somebody a gun and put them in that position if they're not trained.

00:31:20
Speaker 4: Because I think the government has said we got to do this immediately, we got to do this immediately, and they've just put Now this guy may be somebody who's been in office for a long or so. I don't know. I don't know about this person, but I mean, I think every police officer listening will tell you. They tell you do not get in front of a car that's moving or that could be movie. Approach from the side. Think about when you've been pulled over. Do they approach you from the front. No, they approach from the back of the side. Yep. And ICE has a internal policy don't fire at moving cars unless you think you're gonna be run over. And then you can determine from the video whether that was a reasonable thought. I think you could see it either way, depending on how you look at Was.

00:31:59
Speaker 2: There another web been involved with the driver to day that.

00:32:02
Speaker 4: I've not heard there was okay, But again I don't know, but I've not heard there was she was blocking the road from what I understand. Yeah, so sad it is said eight five, nine seven. Now you can turn your radios back on. Who's up next.

00:32:16
Speaker 5: Let's go to Donnie.

00:32:17
Speaker 4: Donnie, go ahead, Donnie.

00:32:20
Speaker 13: Hey, Matt, thanks for taking my call. And the shooting in Minnesota. You're right on. I mean, you're just dead on everything you said. Uh, getting back to the basketball team, there's a number of issues problems to me as a fan. The main issue with this team is we don't have the players to go deep. We just don't. When this team was constructed, I don't know, some one should have said, who's going to score? We don't have the players that can score.

00:33:05
Speaker 4: I think they thought they did. I mean they thought they did. They clearly they clearly don't, but they they thought they did. I mean, remember Pope would talk about how well they shot in practice and all that. He's clearly abandoned that. By the way, they don't even try to set up for threes anymore, so you know that you.

00:33:23
Speaker 13: Yeah, it's constructed mainly, not all of them, mainly of role players. Yeah, you just can't win at this level with role players. You've gotta have somebody that can score the basket, and you can go from one to everham many down the lineup, and there's just no one other than no Way that they can score really well.

00:33:48
Speaker 4: I think low can score, but I appreciate the call. How many people on the team do you think you would classify as a scorer? Two? Yeah, if you're being generous too, I think always a scorer. I don't think he's the greatest shot creator, but he's also shooting sixty three percent on layups.

00:34:09
Speaker 2: Yes, and he was your best three point shooter in the last couple of games.

00:34:13
Speaker 4: He did make a couple of big ones.

00:34:15
Speaker 2: He did.

00:34:15
Speaker 4: Cam Williams, I think is a good shooter when you get him open.

00:34:17
Speaker 2: Yeah.

00:34:20
Speaker 4: I thought Colin Chandler and Trent Noah were good shooters. Maybe they are, Maybe they aren't. They haven't been this year.

00:34:25
Speaker 2: I think you're right. I think this staff thought they had Williams, Noah, Chandler top level three point shooters, and then right belong would be oh Way, Aberdeen and Lowe. I think they thought those guys would still be good enough for three point shooters to carry you.

00:34:36
Speaker 4: Did you hear Dame Bradshaw said Kentucky has the worst efficiency split between playing good teams and bad teams than any team in the country.

00:34:47
Speaker 2: I'm not shocked. That doesn't surprise me.

00:34:49
Speaker 4: That's one of those things that the analytics. It's also are how you feel. You know, it feels like we play so different when we play somebody good versus somebody bass.

00:34:59
Speaker 2: So look, here's the question I need to ask you. Are we just not very good?

00:35:07
Speaker 4: Yeah? We're not very good?

00:35:09
Speaker 2: I mean, is it bottom line?

00:35:12
Speaker 4: We're not very good? Yeah? I think I don't. I don't think we're very good. And I the question that remains is are we not very good? Eight seed, seven seed, ten seed or are we not very good? Missed the tournament? That's kind of the say what's left to me?

00:35:29
Speaker 2: If you had to predict right now, do we make the tournament? What seed are we? If we make the tournament?

00:35:37
Speaker 4: If I had to predict right now, we're on the bubble all year and we play in the first four because we're Kentucky and we play in Dayton.

00:35:46
Speaker 2: I can get behind that. I've always wanted to go up there. I think that could be fun. That would be good for you. I could definitely get behind that. Play go up to Daton.

00:35:56
Speaker 4: That would be my predict if I had to predict right now, that would be my prediction. Like we're kind of on the bubble all year, and then we get in at like nineteen and thirteen, win one game in the SC tournament, losing X. When we're nineteen and thirteen, they put us in in Dayton and we play like Utah State.

00:36:17
Speaker 5: Are you on like that eleven line? Like the place?

00:36:19
Speaker 4: And then you're on the eleven line and then you'd have to go play a six or something in the next round, but first you'd have to win in in Dayton. That's my predictions. I'm gonna write that down as my prediction. Okay, Ringing the new year with a new ride at Don Franklin. She's from thousands of new and certified pre owned vehicles. Go the distance with powertrain protection on certified pre own vehicles. It's Don Franklin Auto dot Com. There's a local store near you, Kentucky's biggest playbook over six thousand new and certified pre owned choices. It's Don Franklin Auto dot Com. Don Franklin Driven by Family. We'll take a break and come back. Final segment, Kazar Water Back take you Sports Radio five nine two eight zero seven, text Machine seven seven two seven seven four five two five four. Thank you a lot of people writing in with for the most part, good comments on the thing. And by the way, I also I like to hear in these situations from like law enforcement officials, because I always think they have an interesting perspective. I think a lot of people, again on my side of the aislell just tend to look at them in the as the enemy. I think that's a huge mistake, and a lot of times, especially in under anonymity, a lot of those folks will tell you, you know what, like nobody understands if they don't do this job. But they will also say privately, sometimes people mess up too, like that's just how it is. And so I like when people have a reasonable conversation about One person wrote me and said that's it. I'm done with you. I'm not listening anymore. I warned them, Shannon, I did say you have ad I did warn him.

00:37:53
Speaker 5: You warned him, and he's a listened to. He probably wanted to hear it anyway.

00:37:56
Speaker 4: Probably Yes, DraftKings tonight Miami and Old miss go to drafting UH program code us A co KSR bet five win tw hundred dollars.

00:38:05
Speaker 2: It is the Fiesta Bowl.

00:38:07
Speaker 4: Uh. There's a guy named Barstool MINSI. Do you know who that is?

00:38:12
Speaker 2: That's our new quarterback, isn't it Minsche?

00:38:15
Speaker 4: His first name is not Barstool though his first name is Canada. Uh, Barstool MINSI is a He's a Barstool guy. He's an Old Miss fan. He was supposed to be on this show. I asked him to come on this show for the Kentucky Old Miss game last year and he asked me, uh, how much I was gonna pay him? And I was like nothing, but uh he They've been following him on the way to to the game. It's been very funny. So I've been watching that. But Miami Old Miss. Miami's a three and a half point favorite. Who you got?

00:38:40
Speaker 2: Miamis came in as what the Tennessee there. They kind of may have been on this glorious run. I didn't think Old Miss is gonna beat Georgia, So I'm gonna go with Miami. Okay, Carson Beck and Miami going to the finals.

00:38:52
Speaker 5: Shannon, you know I'm pulling for Old Miss. They don't have a head coach.

00:38:55
Speaker 3: I hope that they make it to the championship at least, So I'm gonna I'm gonna say old Miss wins today if they've been give.

00:38:59
Speaker 4: Me a old Miss. I'm a Shannon, give me old Miss if you're giving me three and a half points. So I'm getting the points and I don't. Miami obviously won a big game against Texas A and M, but they haven't been great. I mean Louisville beat him. Yeah, right, So uh, I'm gonna go with ol Miss. I think they I think they go. I go with ole Miss, and then I think the winner of the Indiana Oregon game is the national champ I just.

00:39:24
Speaker 2: Really hope that Michael Irvans there tonight, and I hope he's somehow they can show him on during the game.

00:39:29
Speaker 4: You don't like when they show Michael Irvan, Well.

00:39:31
Speaker 2: I didn't even know if he was their last game. Did they show him him? And ray Lewis, you don't like that Michael Irvin gets way into the game.

00:39:39
Speaker 4: But I mean, I thought you would like that, Like I thought you would like a fan that is that passionate. Wouldn't you like like if Kentucky's playing in the National Championship game, wouldn't you like to see DeMarcus Cousins and Tayshawn Prince having that kind of emotion.

00:39:53
Speaker 2: I actually would, yeah, exactly, like they care.

00:39:57
Speaker 4: Doesn't that matter?

00:39:58
Speaker 2: I think it does matter, Yes.

00:40:00
Speaker 4: Especially Michael irban I like Michael Irbans. I mean he's clearly like mugging for the camera, like I mean, clearly, But I also like, like a dude that's a fan on his knees like Shannon, I do kind of like it, do you not?

00:40:13
Speaker 5: That's all right?

00:40:14
Speaker 3: Michael Irvin's a little bit over the top. Yeah, maybe you have something to do with that booger sugar that Ryan was talking about earlier.

00:40:20
Speaker 5: Yes, sugar booger, Oh, sugar booger.

00:40:24
Speaker 4: All right, who's next? But you're both Josh ahead, Josh, I'm taking old miss to cover. I don't know if they want. I think it's gonna be Josh go ahead.

00:40:33
Speaker 14: Who uh So, My question is do you think that it is a combination of fruiting from Mark Pope that we can't really get players into the basketball team or as in the jam I in.

00:40:50
Speaker 4: Ihlvill Well, I mean that's a very complicated thing that we've talked about a bunch.

00:40:56
Speaker 3: Uh.

00:40:56
Speaker 4: I think I said, and I'm gonna keep doing this. I'm I want to learn a little bit more about it before I comment. I think whichever one it is, I think it's probably always going to be a combination of a lot of things. But they don't have players for next year and it's a big deal and so but as to what I would put the primary blame on, I want to I should know more about how it works in the next ten days, and I want to know that before I comment. I need to like follow the advice I gave earlier and learn a little bit more. I mean, there's the KSR website report out there. I think is the report was correct, but I also think it's important. I'm going to try to learn before I take a strong stand. I want to know a little bit more about it. But I have thoughts, but just give me a little bit.

00:41:44
Speaker 14: So my concern is is why are we seem to be getting a good football recruits with the same GAYMI restrictions on football.

00:41:53
Speaker 4: Because football and basketball are very different. Because the short answer would be foot ball. We have sixteen to eighteen million dollars of REV share to give away, and the vast majority of our players the vast majority of our football players can be paid with that, so we don't need to dip into the quote unquote nil pool very much. Our basketball team rev share is between three to four to five million dollars. That's like one and a half. That's like one and a half players, So the nil is a huge It's a much larger percentage of your basketball roster than your football roster. Does that make sense? Yep, sure does appreciate the call. So will Stein can just use the football rev share and get the vast majority of his players. They have to dip into the nil for basketball, and that's why the nile matters a lot more in basketball.

00:42:48
Speaker 2: Makes sense.

00:42:49
Speaker 4: So again, if I explain it to you.

00:42:50
Speaker 2: You complain to the common man.

00:42:52
Speaker 4: That's right. Thank you very much for coming out tomorrow. We're at Cornbrad Hippon, Louisville. We'll see you later. It's been KSR
