Speaker 1: So my brother just came into town, uh today to take my son to his first concert, which yeah, so I was At first, I was like, oh yeah, please. You know it was my brother's idea, and I was like, yeah, come here, take any any night I get free without my child. But now I'm kind of bummed. I'm not going to be there for his first concert. Is he going to Jack Harlow push your team's Imagine Dragon's Imagine Dragons he loves He still loves Imagine Dragons us it is. He's cooled a little bit, but well, I bet you tonight will But anyway, I thought this was a good opportunity to bring up what was your guy's first concerts? I love fearing what people's first concerts are? The Arrows Smith concerts. That was my first concert. You guys were my first concert. Oh my god. So you you are so lucky. That means you've never had a non backstage concert experience in your entire life? Yeah, everything, I haven't. I usually know the people performing their good friends of mine. Ye, Hysterical Beach Boys, The Beach Boys when I was like seven, lives like indies age seven or eight. Yeah, in Connecticut, what was yours writer. Well, I count I have too, because I one I went with my parents and then or my mom, and then when I went on my own, the one I went with my mom was Richard Marsh because Hold Onto the Night was like the number that I was, And so I remember, like we got these tickets and then went to the show, and of course, like it turns out, Richard Marks is like at the time was really like heavy metal or like rock. It was like hair metal. It was like it was like super lad except for his two hit ballads. But you know, as an eight year old, I was just terrified by the sound and my mom was over, well, it was an awful experience. Um. But then when I was thirteen, which would have been right at first season of Boy Meets World without parents, went to Weezer, which is a pretty good first Weezer was it? Was it the Blue Album? Was that when the Blue Album came out, which was a great album, like a really good time. Didn't you go with Ben Francisco? No I saw in Sarrancisco. Did you go at one time to a Weezer concert with Ben? Because I thought you guys came back talking about how they did in Uh was it in my room or no. It was the surfing song that they do and you were like they did it was like a half hour long. They didn't jam on that. That might have been true. I don't remember if that was true or not, but it wasn't With Ben. I went to Oh, I ran into Ben at a fish concert. Oh, randomly, in the middle of how many people at a fish concert, you guys ran into each other. I'm trying to remember how it happened. Maybe we knew about I don't know what. But it was the only fish concert I've ever been to, and it Ben. Ben's brother was a big fish finance because I ran into him at at Trey concert. Fred always go at fish concerts everywhere, but this was in Mountain View, California. There's a stadium up there where concerts are and for whatever. And his girlfriend at the time. We're there and we ended up stayed like we got hotel rooms next to each other. Um because I was there with a friend of mine. But I don't think it was planned. I honestly think we ran into each other at the concert. Was one of the funniest like what moments. Yeah, yeah, that's so Danielle Um do you go backstage and leptot I did. It was it was like a fest, you know where it was like a bunch of different bands. I think Lamb of God played, Slipnot played, um Stained may have played. I don't remember all the people, but yeah, Deaned the best. Stained had that one song too. Yeah. Stained has a lot of songs you would probably know. Uh yeah, it's been a while as the song you're thinking, yeah, yeah, yeah, exactly, Yeah, no, I have. I was we were joking. I have gone to many concerts where I haven't been able to go backstage, mostly because of you. You didn't have technically go behind the stage. She's on this stage, Harry Styles. I've been to multiple Harry Styles concerts. I've never been backstage. I just have gone as a fan. Drake I saw just as a fan um in his tour called the Boy Meets World Tour. It was called the Boy Meets World Tour. Yes, I've been told I look sound and act exactly like Harry Styles. I hear that really, yeah, yeah, yeah, I hear that quite a bit. I'm like, you know, you look and sound like Harry Styles, and I'm like, I agree with myself almost every time. By the way every time they tell you that you agree with you, every time I tell myself that I know I'm right. Yes, I say, Kyle, you look like Harry Style. Yeah, we saw Kendrick Lamar. I've seen a lot of people that I've never that I don't know and just lam a basketball player? No, he's not. I thought Kendrick Lamar was a basketball player. Didn't he play for the No, you could say who he plays for whatever, But no, he is a rapper. Is there another Lamar that was a Lamar Odom? Oh, maybe that's who it is. That's why that's a basketball player. But Kendrick and there's also Kendrick Perkins, who's a basketball player. So if maybe you're combining Kendrick Perkins and Lamar Odom to get Kendrick Lamar, that must be it. Yeah, Lamar Oden was married to Chloe Kardashian. Okay, all right, so that's that's not all right? All right, Okay. I don't know any any music after like night, And I wasn't the one with the wrong sports facts for the first time, exactly Seriously, I knew Richard Marks right away. Yeah, we're only sixty minutes away from a masch reference, but I'm pleased. Let me tell you how Kendrick Lamar was on Match No Writer. I'm Daniel Fishel, I'm or Strong, and I'm Wilfredell. Today we are recapping season one, episode sixteen, Risky Business, which originally aired February eleventh. Great news. I think this is the last episode that may have been in or out of order on the streaming services, So I'm exactly after this episode you will be able to just stick with Disney Plus if that's what you're using, and you don't have to bounce around. The synopsis for this episode is that Corey and Sewn bet on race horses for a school project, but they soon learned the hard way that there are things in life that are not worth risking. Also, Allen and Amy celebrate their own Valentine's Day was directed by David Trainer writers Ken Kudasion. Was that is that how we sounded? Yeah? It was like a sham gun. Yeah. And it was loud and awesome and and real and natural, and it was a great lad I love. I'm a big fan of laughs, so that was a big laugh for guest cast. We have Trevor Denman as track announcer. He's the famous del Mar horse racing announcer. And then yeah, that's cool, that's cool that they got that guy to do it. And then we have Thomas Brown the Fourth as sports announcer. So I would like to start, Oh sorry, but before you recap, I just want to start with a very very brief thing. I loved this episode. Great episode, loved this episode. Everything about this episode I thought was great, and I just want to throw that out at the beginning, I thought, this is one of my favorite episodes by far that I've watched. And I remembered none of this and I laughed out loud several times, and I really liked this episode. It has a lot of energy, a lot of and I think it's a relentless story like and then watching me Ben dig ourselves deeper deeper and deeper, and it's exciting. It's genuinely like, oh God, what's going to happen next? And great plot, it's so fun. Yeah, yeah, yeah. We begin in Mr Phoenie's classroom and the school hallway, Mincus and to Panga are giving a presentation in class about their recent earnings in the stock market. Corey and Sean then go to the front of the classroom to give their progress report, but it is very obvious they haven't even started yet. Everyone leaves class and Phoenie says he wants to see some effort from Corey and Sean. And then in the hallway, Mincus tells to Panga that he is glad their company for the project is making money because she is going to live in the lap of luxury as the future mother of their children, and he's doing his dying. He's total like to give you an idea because he looks so small compared to me there, And I was, I'm only five one now, so I may have been five feet then maybe i've maybe I grew an inch, but that way I did definitely did not grow more than an inch. And he is significantly smaller than me. Yeah, he was. He was a little guy. He was. He was a small a small teenager. Uh So to Panga gives him a little funny look there, and then Shaun and Corey make fun of Mancus, and Mincas says they talk big only because they are bigger than him. He asks Corey and Sean how confident they are in using their brains, and uh, Sean says, confident er than you. Mincus wants to bet real money. Were establishing Sean is kind of dumb. Yeah, and then we switched and then we said I was I was about girls and you were dumb, and then eventually you were about girls and I was dumb. Yeah, that's how they literally just went, let's just switch. Let's let's swap those around. So Mincus wants to bet real money to see who could make the most profit to Penga says she would like to have a voice in the deal, and they decide on ten dollars to invest. Laugh out loud. That was my first laugh out loud was yours. That was my first guess. It was so earnest and the timey was perfect, And it's a random, not ridiculous. It's not like million dollars. Yeah, it's like a very specific she has weighed the assessment and nailed it. That was my first absolute laugh out loud. She wants to have a say in it, and then he explained. Mincas explains that it's a battle of wits between Mincus and Corey and Seawan, and she decides is the right amount of money to better. Sean suggests his uncle Frank bets on a horse for them to make a quick fifty bucks. Bingo, bengo, bengo, A little bit, bengo. We get right to it. I love this. I love this though, the broadening of Shawn's world. But this is it, guys. This is the first trailer park reference. And it's not not about you, it's about got a laugh and it's a great joke, right, like, if he's so smart, why is he living at trailer park? Right? And it gets a laugh. But I was like, oh, this is it. This is where that you know? Because I'm trying. I just gotta keep tracking them because at some point it finally is revealed that Sean himself lives in the other part, which might not be the second season. Even then, you wonder when you're gonna actually the Fugitive. Maybe let's see if they mentioned it in The Fugitive, which is our next episode, right, I think that's what I think. So so yeah, Corey asks if his uncle is so smart, why does he live in a trailer And then we get into The Boy Meats World credits and when we come out, we are in the Matthews kitchen. Corey and Sean spent their ten dollars on a horse to win an upcoming race. As they wait to find out if they want, Sean finds a valentine on the kitchen table from Alan to Amy about a rendezvous. So I love that you say confident er, but you know exactly how to rendezvous. Yeah. He's also instantly doing math calculations, like all right, so if we bet this at five to one, we got fifty bucks and we got And I was like, but but confident or he's doing math rendezvousing, but confidenter. But guys, that purple shirt I'm wearing this is it is a glorious, glorious purple isn't it? Wait? Is this the one with all the dinos? Yeah, I'm yeah, the Dianoda is a T shirt underneath this is just a giant purple shirt. But man, I just cannot keep my hands out of my hair. Stop it right, I just want to like smack myself. I can't believe I didn't get this as a note. Constantly they because the note would have been that you need to get your hair out of your face like they would have put barets in your hair. Think of how obsessed we were, which is probably where this started for you. We can't we can't have hair in the eyes. We can't have hair in the eyes. I don't need to come back off the face. And so not only was it annoying to you, but you were aware it wasn't good for camera, it wasn't good for for lighting, and so you were probably getting it out of your face to help the scenes. I think I don't think you were doing it. That's because I do that. I do the hand rubbing in this whole episode to where where we talked about that before I caught myself. I don't and you know, no, you're doing that stuff. So I think you were doing it like a nervous kind of it's something to do with you. It looks like a nervous habit. That's why I'm like, oh, just stop. But I must have been doing this for years because I know it became a thing. So and it totally works for your character, well even for you with the hand rubbing together, it works for your character, like yes, yes, it's yeah, it's just weird. It's a weird, like you can tell as an actor, you're like, oh, that I'm not doing that on purpose, like that is something that my body is doing for some reason, which is weird. Do you guys have any moments from when you were a kid where you had to read something out loud and you totally said it wrong and it like sticks out in your mind that you were embarrassed about it, because I have one. It was thankfully only only with my mom, so it wasn't a big deal. But I was reading something. We had a menu, I think we think it was when we were invited to some event. It must have been a Boy meets World rap party or a charity event, but it was like a fancy event and we had a menu from it and my mom said, what does it say? What's what is? What's on the menu? And I was like naming all these things and then I said with Harracott verts and my mom said with what And I said, yeah, Harra Coots verts. What's Herricott verts? And she was like, I have no idea. Let me see what you're reading. And then she took it from me and she said, oh, Eric cover over which green beans? We could probably just call a green beans fancy green means but I had never Obviously, I was like twelve or thirteen, did not know what river was and thought it was harricots verts. So yes, I do have now that you mentioned like that, I do have one of those. I was trying to sound much more aerodyte than I was as a child, and I was talking about how I saw my friends on the playground have a row and I was like, they had a row, mom, and she's like they was like larow, mom, come on, it means fighting. She's like a row. I was like what, yes, yes, so yeah, I thought I was so cool, like and they had a row mom, obviously, So yeah, I do now that you mentioned that. Okay, there you go see and it's with moms. Yes, at least it sounds so cool. Yep. Writers like No, I always knew how to say everything. I said everything a million one of these moments. I mean I had it one on this show and I said superstitious or said suspicious instead of superstitious. No, I definitely yeah, yeah, but no, I'm sure I've done a million of these. I'm just I just can't think of any one of them right off the top of my head, but you have time. If you think of one, I'd love to know yours. Yeah, so, uh, he says rendezvous. After a little romance talk, the boys listen to the horse race on the radio radio and they find out what we also find out that Amy is called boom boom, boom boom. This is straight Corey and Sean. By the way, this is now like Corey and Sean. Yep, well, this is where we do our handshake. Yes, the room veal of the handshake. So the boys listen to the horse race and they find out they win nine dollars. Amy comes downstairs to see what they're so excited about, and the boys don't tell her that they're betting. Amy sees the Valentine and says that needs a babysitter for Monday night. She offers Corey two dollars to babysit two dollars an hour, and he says he'll babysit, but you can keep the two bucks, just by yourself a new dress. And Amy walks out and we get our very first handshake between the two of you. Right if you needed to, could you do the handshake right now? Yes? Oh my god, the whole thing. Yeah, you can do the whole thing right now. Yes, I'm pretty sure that's cool. Yeah, I mean because when we did it on Girl, it was it was, it came right back to it just came back. Yeah. Talked about how you've talked about how you guys invented that already. Yeah, we invented it off set. So this was just it was inserted into the suit. Let's see you do it. We just did it. We were like, let's see you do it. Come on, dance, stand up, push your chair back to stand up. So it goes boom boom boom, no boom boom boom boom. So great. Yeah, that's really great. When I did the topanga dance thing, and then I did it again thirty you know, thirty years later or whatever, I had to rewatch it, mostly because I had to get the timing down, because like I had to do certain movements when Ben says certain words, and I didn't remember that, and I but I did not remember all the I didn't remember them. I did have to watch it then, and I actually did. Yeah, and then and then we brought it onto the show. And in fact, if we hadn't brought it on the show, it probably would have lasted longer in our personal life, you know what I mean, because it became a thing on the show. We didn't gave it away to keep doing it. Yeah, we kind of gave it away. So yeah, it's interesting, that's funny. So Eric walks in, so we kind of rushed right over this beautiful handshake. Thank god you brought it up there. It is God you brought this is the moment. The jacket, the leather. So can we get a theme for the jacket? Okay, let's do right. Here's the theme song for the jacket. Hold on. Yes. I was like, I wrote it in giant leathers. I'm like, the jacket, hold on to the memory. Guy, I don't know what you're talking about, the famous Sean leather jacket. She's always like it's Sean. I was like, Eric Warret first, and Eric first, and will's the jacket. I've been saying it for my famous leather jacket, and this is how it makes its first appearance. And steal it from Eric and give it to the third season. We're gonna find out, but this is where it makes its appearance. I was like, I was like, yes, because but first of all, how about the fact that for some reason, they completely changed my look for this episode. For this episode and for the I don't nether jacket flannel open shirt. It was totally like they were making me hip and cool for something. Went from being preppy to like changed it instantly. Right when I walked in, I was like, that's it, that's the jacket. Maybe it wasn't. Maybe it was an eric hand me down slightly. It's so funny because it fits you so much better, like it actually fits you. I was he was big on me, like I remember it feeling big on me all the way through seven seasons. Uh, and it was mine because it was your Oh my god, it just better like not fit the character better, my body better and your character and you know, it was just it was just part of your stable of clothing. And then at some point they just handed it to me and it became my iconic jacket. And it's beautiful jacket. Actually, it's such a absolutely beautiful jack. The jacket then was then stolen out of Writer's car. Writer somebody right now has is like in their closet is like I can't believe I actually I can't wear it anywhere, but I can't believe I have the purloined jacket. Well, Eric walks in and he tells Corey and Sean about a girl that will not go out with him because of course, this is the only thing Eric can talk about ever ever. Really, girls, girls, girls, girls, girls. You know, it is starting to become a thing where it's like, never, can they ever something else once? Please? I know it is starting to get a little obnoxious at this spot. I'm not gonna lie. No, it was awful, awful. Corey says, if he likes her, he has to take a risk. He knows all about this. He is a boy. I did not realize this happened so late and to see us that I was sure that we would see these. Yes, this is the this is the one you have mentioned now a couple of times that when he said other things, it's like, well, that's not the one. Isn't there one where he goes, I'm something boy, is your boy doesn't need you? Dane your boy once, I'm danger boy. I think I think there's only one more. But it was definitely something they tried to do. I feel like three or four times. I don't know if they actually made it to the final show. But again, one of these catch phrases. That just doesn't say we're gonna need a shirt that says catchphrase. Boy, it's weird. They kept trying, kept trying different things. Yeah, well you gotta try. I gotta throw things against the wall. See what sticks. We're in Mr Phenie's classroom. Corey tells the classroom about winnings, the winnings they have from the horse race. Mincus calls them out for gambling, reminding them that it's illegal for children, but Corey says they're adults in this project, so no harm, no foul. Foene agrees that the bigger the risk, the bigger the reward, and to Penga says the boys are very bold, and Mincus calls are a gold digger. Yeah, and I love the look I give Lee at that time, where I look at him like I don't even know how to describe my life. I find him, I find to him comical, but I also, yeah, I don't know, it's just a really cute look, like I'm amused by his crush on her, and and not at all I don't Yeah, I don't get thrown by it at all. And I find him, I just find him amusing, which I think is really fun. I think it's the look you gave. But the thought I had was I was almost like, I wonder if that was a shot from something else that they grabbed during the scene and threw in as the reaction to that. Yeah, maybe, because it was like a strange reaction to what he said, And I was like, I wonder if that was they just had a camera or at a different times, like, yeah, I know, you're right, it may have been that. I that they pulled a reaction from somewhere else, because it was I was like, what is that exactly? It's like I kind of laugh, I kind of laugh, but also I'm a little like, Okay, it's a little weird. It was like that, I think that was from something else. Yeah, maybe it was. Um, We're in the Matthews living room, Corey and shown around the couch thinking about their hundred dollars. You're eating red vines and when Eric walks in, calls himself a dating god and says that the boy should worship him. Eric says he was bold, he took a risk, and now he has a date with Brianna Henshaw. Eric says he stuffed himself in the locker for three periods, which is not the type of risk Corey was talking about. But the greater the risk, the greater the return. So they find another Valentine letter from Amy to Alan and they reply. The reply Valentine says, to where sexy cologne and meet where they proposed, where he proposed. So Corey wanted Shan to call his uncle Frank so they can bet again with Cada very quickly. I have a very quick story. So the line as I'm walking out where he says, um, there once was there once was a guy in the locker and they were in front of the audience and the other the second half of that did not work, and so they're looking for other lines. All the writers are come on, guys, come on, guys, come on, guys. And I said, who just got a date? What a shocker? And Michael goes, that's it right there, that's the line. That's the when we're using I wrote that line. And then Michael walks off set and then walks back on set and puts a quarter in my hand. He goes, congratulations, she just wrote your first line, and then walked off set. He literally put a quarter in my hand, and I was like, that's the first line I ever wrote. I thought that was cool. That's cute with the original. No, I don't remember the original one. I just didn't, you know, it didn't work. Um so I didn't just got a date? What a shocker. He's like, that's it. That's I was like, oh man, that's a fun feeling when everybody's pitching something and you get to make a your like, yeah, apprehensive, you throw out a pitch out there and you're like they picked fine. Yeah, it's cool. Um So, Corey wants to call his uncle Frank so they can bet again with the hundred dollars. Corey wants to take more risks, no more playing. It's safe in his life. Then we are in Corey and Eric's such a good he was great and the two of you are really good in this episode. We really were. It is so much fun watching him become like a gambling addict in the Yeah, son, so energy, it is It is perfect Ben energy. Corey and Geen are listening for the results to their horse race. Right when the announcer is going to announce the winner, Corey yanks this the radio out from the wall and all they heard from the winner is that it starts with no, no, the smart money was no great money. Yeah. They rush over to the same person who wrote stuff. Yeah, exactly, that's funny. So they call uncle Frankie Twotos and they find out they remember loving this line. Well, I can tell you, but then I have to Yeah, I remember thinking that was hysterical. Was that maybe the first time you had ever heard that? I don't know, probably, yeah, probably right? Has that been in other things? Is that a famous line? I'm kidding, it's in every time, like, yeah, everything, Yeah, it's everywhere, and that was So that's what I'm thinking. But like when you're eleven or twelve or thirteen at the time, that probably is not only the first time you're getting to say it, but maybe the first time you're here. Yeah, I can tell you, but then i'd have to kill Yeah, it's really it's really funny. The origin of that is, like somebody to look up the origin of that line. What has to have like a real meaning, like somebody really did say it in like a famous movie or something. That's what But that's the morning said it was in the movie? Is at a television show? Is it's something like The Godfather? We already referenced at one point, I think Minca says every time I think I'm about that. It was so funny because I remember Lie saying that line and not knowing The Godfather at all, so it's like, you know, not until I was in my late teens I finally saw The Godfather and it's like, oh, there's a boy's world line, right, It's like so out of context. Mario Puzo stole that from the world. That is clearly during this scene, Indie was jumping up and down on the couch. He was having so much during the like all the racing stuff and the radio and the unplugging and winning this and talking to the phone, and he was just like, what is happen? He was so into this episode, And that's what I means, like the energy of this episode was palpable and so excited he you know, I could tell that Indy was with Corey and seat like he was, you know, so excited that we were making all this buddy and all this stuff. And I literally asked him afterwards, like do you understand what we were doing like horse race? And he's like no, So he didn't even know, Like quite fully, it was just the energy that we were bringing in the sort of like screaming and yelling and what it is, and then money it's like, it's it was just a fun episode. Was And when he screams forget to forget, forget the flyers, give me the fifth race of Pemlico, I mean it's awesome. Yeah, it's also the setup and and writer, your reaction when he's like, oh, no, I knew it, worst risk ever and your stone faced and mal dropping, like the setup is yeah, but it really could go either way. It's so great. Then when your acting choice, though, writer, I will guarantee you that was your acting choice, because any other young actor, a lot of young actors would have been so excited on the phone and not played it down and it would have been like, wait, won what where As you were like you really didn't know what it was, and it was then it was like, oh my god, you're such a shock. Yeah, it was great. It was really great, such a good scene. I literally wrote, this is the best acting episode so far for all of us together, like a whole ensemble. I thought this was the best one so far. It was great. So Corey wants to let the six eighty dollars ride. Let it ride gad which I love. Uh. Corey and Seawan are counting their six d eighty dollars on the bed, which I don't know how you guys left and got the money and got back whatever, but cares. It's fun. Kids delivered a bag of twenties to a bunch of twelve year old of course, so you're counting your money, and Sean leaves to go get pizza. Amy calls Corey looking for Alan Morgan, then walks in and tells Corey you're busted, and Corey jumps on the bed. Bob Stupa checks its sports but also the pizza work. Yes, he has an empire. Mr Susan Empire. I didn't think that. Where do we think that came from? If they used it twice, it feels like it's some a friend's name, I mean, I mean, oh, look, we have to I actually did write this down. We have to discuss names on world. Names are a thing like really good naming. It's it's positively dickensiean like you think about Phoenie, you think about Mincus, you think about Topanga. Every name is perfect and it describes it, positions the care there's perfectly. I mean, like when Indie first watched it. He couldn't get over Phoene just as a name, because it denotes it just when you say it, you feel like this person is is probably uh like a nerd in some way or like officious and like sort of like snooty, right, like Phoeny. It just feels right. It's yeah, and and like this I think it was it was during this episode that that Indie was like, Hunter, your last name is Hunter, Seawan Hunter. He's like cool and like, you know what, Shaan does have a cool last name, Like Sean Hunter is a cool name. It describes kind of his vibe. Everybody is very well and like even you know, you take Corey Matthews, Eric Matthews, it's very average, sort of Middle America, Corey, Corey, Amy Allen, like everybody is. It is so well named, and I think it goes a long way. And I think, like Bob stupid checks is just another fun name. Like I think this was just kind of it's a it's it's a decision that I'm sure it was instigated by Michael that but then it was carried through by the writing staff in general, which is just the love of language and not shying away from naming characters intentionally for their musicality and for the sound quality or the sort of reference, like a cultural reference that their names would take, and it just it works. It's Angela Moore. Another great one, Angela Angela. It was was Matt Lawrence's last name Hunter too, was he Jack Hunter? That's a great I mean, another strong, great name, Jack Hunter. Yeah, I know, you're right, that's cool. I never thought about that. I didn't think about that either, But that is good. I mean, I'm not surprised that the guy named writer King Strong is the guy is also yeah, is the one thinking like, yeah, names are cool. I mean, you guys thought a lot about naming. You know, you knew you wanted a unique name for indie. Yeah. I'd also like to point out as amazing as the name writer King Strong is, his father's name is King Arthur Strong. Yeah. I mean it's like awesome is the word. Yeah, it's really cool. Yeah. He lived up to it, for sure. I think it was hard for him at times. You know, I think I think he he would have preferred to have a more common name. It was my mom that really was like, your weird name is cool and we're gonna have weird name kids, uh, and she pop forward, um, and I'm glad because I like, how any unique name. Yeah, Like, I think it's actually pretty and that's kind of trut to be an actor. Makes it seem like I named myself that you did not, but I did not know. It's very cool name good names. Uh, so, Morgan says Corey. He tells She tells Corey that he's busted and says that Corey is supposed to entertain her. While babysitting, Alan calls Corey looking for Amy. They can't seem to find each other. Sean then calls Court. By the way, I not catch onto what was going on with this at all. I was actually super annoyed by the phone ringing, and I couldn't figure out why this was important or how this was playing in because I wasn't. I was just like, Okay, why what is this weird storyline about them calling? I thought it was like a way to keep the parents involved in the scene, like they weren't really alone. Considering the fact that Morgan was there, I thought it was and I was like, this is annoying, but then it obviously plays an important We also hadn't the thing that amazed me, and I went back to check unless I'm wrong, and I don't think I am. We hadn't seen Alan. No, no, we see Alan when he finds the return um Valentine that that in the living room. Wait, Eric, Eric, Then Sean reads it, so we haven't seen the first time we actually see Alan is coming coming back from the thing. So we've seen Amy, but we haven't seen Alan, which I I thought was interesting that it's like, where where is Rusty? Yeah? He was busy? Um okay, so uh they can't find each other. Sean then calls Worad to tell him Lenny Dikestra is having dinner at bob Stoop checks Pizza World where he was picking up their food. Corey tries to get Morgan to go with him to get Lenny dikester baseball cards signed to make money, but she locks herself in the bathroom and she says, if you're not playing with me, I'm not playing with you. Corey bets Morgan five cupcakes that she can't stay in the house safely by herself, and she counters with six cupcakes and Corey takes the bet. You noticed by the way that I'm sorry that every single time then picked the phone during that. Oh I forgot to mention that turned it on or turned it off, well, not on that. But he also never opened the but he always closed it. The second time he tries to close it, even though it's not like it's like it's not open, he's still close and he was like what is that? What is that? He's like, why, why? Why is the phone need that? I'm like, it's a long story, man, I'll tell you later. Yeah, radio waves that phones used to work. We have satellitess where do you begin? Um? So Corey runs out of the house and Morgan is now home alone. She opens the front door, turns on the radio, and starts rocking out on the couch. She India is on his feet laughing. I figured I thought of India while I was watching this, because this is like his dream, right, what kids do? What do they do? So it was so funny, and then he loves the Home Alone movie. So when she does the actual like home alone reference, he just died. It was like the greatest joke ever. But it also just shows we've talked about this before too, how they obviously knew what they were doing where we were like, you know, little Sister's fun. But I mean, how is that going to end an entire Auto generation? Yeah, that's huge fans, you know, and you bring in a whole new audience. It was great and she was great. The dancing was very cute. Yeah, the dancing was cute. So here's my question. Well, you told the story on this podcast about the window breaking when David Trainer threw the doll. No different, but that was in the kitchen it was Are you sure? Because wondered if you would combined the memory of this actually happened now where doll is thrown and breaks. Okay, I remember there's an episode where Lily I think we've already seen it where somebody they trade Lily something, so she takes her dollar and goes and throws it away. So David was mimicking that, but he's nine ft tall. I was wondering if he had the actual content of the show with a pind No, he actually no, it was the kitchen window. Yeah, David was here, he remembered. Yeah. Okay, yeah, so she does Morgan does the home alone face slap. We're in the Matthews living room, Corey and Shawn walk in with their signed Lenny Distra baseball cards. They have twelve of them, and Corey security, I know how dangerous. Lock that door. He walks in and he goes, wait a minute, I didn't leave this door open. He then realizes that the window is broken and that Morgan is gone. He runs out to the backyard freaking out, and he tells Mr Feene what happened. Corey says he took a chance on Morgan and now she's been kidnapped. But Phoeny says, she's sitting in the treehouse. She is also freaking out, but um, she's freaking out about the window. She thinks she's going to be in big trouble. So we then see Corey and Morgan in the treehouse, and again I thought we don't see enough treehouses on sets. Such a cute little set, especially on a kid's show. It's nice for them to have a little runaway place where you can you can get them in their full kid kiddom. Yeah. I don't remember where the treehouse set was on stage, do you guys remember? I think we actually shot treehouse. We actually shot on the treehouse. I think we did handhel I think we did a handheld. Didn't they jack up. Couldn't they jack up a good No, it doesn't go upbout you know. I think we put it on hand I think we were on sticks. So wait, we were able to take like the exterior wall off the treehouse? Or do you think they actually just went into the treehouse with the camera? I do think. I don't remember that part, but I do think we were in We were in a handheld camera. The fact that it never connects, that we never see them crawling up, you know, into another shot, made me think that it was a completely different part of the state, like another set. I think it's in the treehouse, and I think, if I'm not mistaken, there may be a window there. The camera may have been on that window, in the window shooting into them because it is just one Yeah, okay, that's what it was. Yeah, they must have just put it in the window. Yeah, I think it's in the window. She was cute too where she were. Ben hugs her and she's like too tight. Yeah yeah. So um. Corey climbs in there and he says he promises he will take the blame for the broken window. It was all his fault for leaving her home alone. And then Alan and Amy come home and they actually had gone to two different restaurants. Oh what a ju face. He forgot where he proposed and she is furious, and then a kiss and the crowd screens the cow. The crowd loves it when they're when they're making out, and then it's weird. I don't know. It was such an eighties nineties thing. You kiss him, that's what it was. And then Amy realizes, Oops, he was right. It is so great, and then Rusty's change is awesome. He was great in the scene. Yeah, I was. I was bummed that he what he cared about was that she had been proposed to before and not that she forgot, and also made him feel so bad for it. Like, listen, we all make mistakes. It doesn't mean I don't love you. But I was bummed that his issue became about her having a past. It's like, you know who cares um? But anyway, but again, great name, what is it? Yes, Braithwaite, you don't need to know anything about this guy than that name. And you're like, well, he didn't deserve a right with that name. He thought he was when Harry met Sally, you know, like you did not make love with Sheldon. Sheldon, Sheldon exactly to be big Sheldon Sheldon. Yes, you're an animal Sheldon. So she's the one who messed up. It's revealed that she was proposed to at the restaurant she went to by a guy named Mark Braithwaite. Alan has no idea who this guy is, and he's angry he didn't know about this, and he wonders if she has a second family. So then we go into the Matthews living room. Alan and Amy walk in arguing, and they see that Morgan is asleep and Corey is reading to her on the couch. Alan and Amy see the broken window, and Corey tells them he is going to pay for it with his own money, but he can't tell them how he has it there. This this threw me a bit. I get why they're doing it, but nobody, especially a kid who does something like that, isn't going to clean that up. I know, a little bit like pick up the thing still just open, doors open like it doesn't. I mean, you pick every kid. Oh my god, I broke it. The first thing I'm gonna try to do is see if I can fix it myself. That's the first thing any kid does like I broke this vase. I broke. Okay, Well if I glue it and I turn it this way, they're never going to know. A want to even if you plan to be honest from the very beginning, you want to? Can you want to control when I tell you how, I show you what happened. But you don't want to just leave it? No, you leave this the crime scene exactly the way it looks. No, no, no no, that that I didn't buy. You know, what we don't have in real life is that twenty two minute time crunch. So in this case, we have got a twenty two minute time crunch. You got to get to the juicy moments. We don't have time for all of that. So you need to see it. I know so well. We need them to see it because they have to know about it right away, otherwise they may have in their fight missed it. So we then go into Mr Feinie's class room. Mr Feenie announces the Matthews Hunter Consortium is the most profitable corporation in the class project. I mean this is the first that you guys are winning. You've actually done well. Yeah that you you're done well? You were you get I mean it's like done. Well, you know that's something I love. I noticed, Uh, the background actor right behind Ben very prominently in this way behind Ben, is you yes? No, when you were when you're looking at Ben's shot, she's in the row behind over the dark care girl. No, it's it's Seem Valley. It's the girl that we called Sea. And I was like, I saw her face like right there, and screeds like, oh, I gotta brought back so many memories. I wish I could remember her real name. We always so I don't see me. We've told this story on this podcast. We haven't. Please tell us why you called her first? Said, we had, you know, a lot of the recurring extras in the school room, especially because they were kid actors who would be there for their own school and all week and um. And that one girl when when we first one of the first weeks, Ben asked her like, so, you know, I was talking to her and said where are you from? And she said, in a very valley girl accent, Seemi Valley, And so we just thought it was the funniest thing. We're like, that's and we and we just laughed, and then we called her Seemi Valley for years she was. I think it was there until third or fourth season whenever, like, and so she was always around and she was but I can't remember her real name, and I feel awful. But we literally called her seem me. We didn't call her see, but we called her see. We were like forever the whole run of the show. Um. But yeah, so she's out there. Okay, So, when asked for tips, Corey says he's learned that the greater the risk, the greater the potential profit, and then he tells his own lesson, you should never gamble anything that you can't afford to lose. The bell rings and Mincas stays at his desk. Sean walks up to him and says he forgot to give him his Valentine Sean hands, make us a card that says turn around, and just as he does, Corey and Sean hit Poene and Mincus with nerve guns and then Mr Foenie runs to his desk and pulls out a NERF gun and shoots back at them, and it's an all out war. What I like non sequitar little It was so fun and so cute, But what the heckles and jackals? Does it have anything to do with the storyline Valentine's Day again, which like, like I guess, but yeah, I think they were just like, let's it's it's like how movies just end with a dance number, right, yeah right? Kids? Everybody like everybody there like where did get a gun? Oh my god? It was like, yeah, where did okay? Who cares? Moment? I liked the moment before I liked where it was just Bill and Lee and he's like, should I open this? I know it's just gonna be mean, and it's like him going, hey man, sticks and stones like he it wasn't your right, We're gonna We're gonna talk to them. It was just like, hey, you can rise above this. It's words, You're you're good. Um. And I liked him the moment between the two of them where he was that kind of like I'm with you. You you can rise above it like you always have. You're gonna be all right. I thought it was just a very nice kind of thing. And then of course everybody brings NERF guns to school and shoots at their teachers. World two a lot of NERF gun stuff. We did lots of jokes about like shooting each other, and obviously we already had the square gun episode system. It's just fun. It's a romps. It's just a fun little romp. Yeah. I didn't necessarily tie in, although writers right, it did tie in Valentine's Day again. Uh. And it's super cute and I guarantee you when they watched that, they were like, I wish we had that for the opening credits. Yeah. Uh. And so then we're in the tag the Matthews family living room. Corey hands a red rose to Amy that he bought with the leftover money after fixing the window, and then Alan walks in with a big bouquet of red roses for Amy because he says it was their worst Valentine's ever and he's glad that Amy may have been proposed to twice, but she only said yes once. And then she climbs on top of him and asks him what what makes him think she's only been proposed to twice? And then they like meg out on the couch. Yeah, it's kind of real in one way when it comes to a marriage where it's like what you think they're going to fight about or what they probably should fight about is not actually what they fight about, you know what I mean, because it's like it could easily have been. You know, You've spent the last hour making me feel like an ass for what I did, and I've been apologizing the entire time, where and she's never like, oh my god, I'm so sorry. I conflated the two things that's my bad and which should be what probably they're fighting about. But as a marriage, it goes off onto something that's like, well what about that time with your shoes? And it's like wait what and that's that just happened? I mean, that is kind of real in a way where it's like it wasn't what you thought they were going to fight about, and then they both kind of apologize and it's both kind of like, yeah, we were both in Yeah that was stupid. We don't need to talk about it. So there's times where the writing is very real, where it's like okay, I get like right, like I can't relate to the parenting, but to the marriage stuff, it's like, yeah, that's kind of like a marriage, Like yeah, it's like you think it's going one way, and then it's like, wait, why are we talking about salary? How did that even happen? And it is cute and good that the same way we talk about how much we love that they really they really show parenting like a discussion and like parenting really is. It's also nice that they show marriage the way when you're in a good marriage, the way it can be too. It's kind of nice. I mean, as much as we make fun of like okay, why is there so much making out going on? Um, it's also nice to see parents that like each other. Yeah, totally still kissing is good. Yeahsen is good having a whole bunch of people wooing all the time while you're doing because I part's a little weird people following you around. People. Yeah, I hired like under fifty people that just follow me around every time I kiss my wife, they woo and it was weird. Yeah, yeah, it was bizarre, but it was like we might not need this, well, this was really fun. Our next episode is season one, episode seventeen, The Fugitive, written by Jeff Sherman.
