Speaker 2: What was that? I have no idea what that is? Can you guys hear me?

00:00:38
Speaker 3: What just happened?

00:00:38
Speaker 2: I don't know. Are we on the air?

00:00:41
Speaker 4: I don't know.

00:00:42
Speaker 2: I don't feel like we are.

00:00:43
Speaker 4: Rick. Are we on the air with that horn that just went off? Yeah, we're on the air, all right?

00:00:47
Speaker 2: It sounds weird on my end.

00:00:48
Speaker 4: Maybe we can get Austin in here eight five nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven. It's Clark's puppet shop. A vision Auto glass text machine is seven seven two four five two five four in this stition sponsor b the TJ Smith of Office.

00:01:01
Speaker 2: If you call TJ, he'll make them pay. I feel like I.

00:01:04
Speaker 4: Sound like I'm in a tin can, right, now, so people over the air, maybe you can write the text machine and tell me if this sounds okay, because it doesn't sound good in my ear.

00:01:13
Speaker 5: You know, it sounds like it sounds like we used to do and then the old building with those Bob Barker microphones.

00:01:18
Speaker 4: That's what you sound like right now.

00:01:19
Speaker 3: Yeah, we sounded good until that horn.

00:01:21
Speaker 4: That horn did some What happened on the horn? Rick? What was that horn? I don't know. I had nothing to do with the horn.

00:01:27
Speaker 2: It sounds like you had something to do with it.

00:01:29
Speaker 4: But I thought somebody was having a birthday party or something. All right, well, hopefully it's working just right in the text machine real quick. Seven seven two seven seven four five two five four. Let me know that things sound okay. Ryan, I'm back from vacation. Welcome back. It was one week and I've it's been one week since you looked at me, and I'm really glad that you're here.

00:01:50
Speaker 2: Right now.

00:01:51
Speaker 4: We're excited you're back.

00:01:52
Speaker 5: You got to see maybe two of the best college games all season, so I'm kind of jealous what you did in watching DC this past weekend. But I think the horn was to welcome you back to their way.

00:02:00
Speaker 4: Today Mario, do me a favorite, go outside with Austin and tell him what's wrong.

00:02:04
Speaker 2: Both of them looking at each other.

00:02:07
Speaker 4: We have a very capable group going here, so Mario doesn't have the urgency at all.

00:02:11
Speaker 2: No, Mario is addressed. We're meeting with our boss today.

00:02:14
Speaker 4: Yes, and Mario is is saying it's he's on he's on easy pace. I'll tell you what people are telling me, Rick, this sounds weird. So let's do this. Let's take a break, and let's just take an early break and come back and hopefully we can have it fixed. All right, good with you, Rick, sounds like we're gonna take an early break. We'll be right back.

00:02:34
Speaker 2: This's KSR talk to Mad Joe.

00:02:40
Speaker 4: Welcome back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio eight. I'm nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven. The text machine is seven seven two seven seven four five two five four No idea?

00:02:49
Speaker 2: If this is better or not? What do we think?

00:02:51
Speaker 6: It sounds a little better, It's still terrible, but you know what this is gonna be what it is because this is iHeartRadio and this is the way it goes.

00:02:59
Speaker 2: We are back after vacation and ready to rock.

00:03:02
Speaker 4: Ryan. So back what I was saying, thank you very much for filling in while I was gone.

00:03:07
Speaker 5: I did two days, Drew did two days, and then Billy did a day and did a great job.

00:03:11
Speaker 2: Erdie did a great job Id too.

00:03:13
Speaker 4: I'm I'm always proud of Billy, and you know Jack and Nick, thank you to them for coming in as well. And I want to thank the folks here at our Heart for being ready when we came back. Drew, that's exactly how things go. Well, the first day you were gone, I hosted it.

00:03:27
Speaker 3: I had to do the first segment by phone without a co host because we had technical difficulties.

00:03:31
Speaker 2: So it's been a week. It's been a great time.

00:03:34
Speaker 4: Well all right, So the National Championship is tonight. Portal starts at midnight tonight. And since I was gone, I wrote down like a million topics a bit because I have a lot to say. We were gone for a long time. I do want you to notice I came in today with a Michigan hoodie because we have to have Michigan win tonight.

00:03:55
Speaker 2: We have to.

00:03:55
Speaker 4: As much as I enjoyed watching Yukon beat Duke live in person, we have to have Michigan win tonight. We cannot have Yukon win seven titles in twenty seven years. So Michigan, who hasn't won a title since what Ramel Robinson in nineteen eighty seven, nine eighty nine over Seaton Hall, You're exactly right, Uh, we need them to win tonight. I don't even particularly like Michigan, but I think if you're a historic college basketball person, which those of us that love uk are, we need a victory.

00:04:27
Speaker 5: If Connecticut wins, it's their seventh title. That's more than Duke, that's more than North Carolina and breeding down more than Kansas.

00:04:34
Speaker 4: I mean, I seven and twenty seven years is kind of an amazing thing. The Yukon situation is in an unbelievable situation. So in the last twenty seven years, Drew, they've made eight final fours, but they've won seven of them. Yeah, that's amazing.

00:04:53
Speaker 2: Well, they've won six. They will have won seven if they win tonight.

00:04:57
Speaker 4: They've also, though during that time, Drew missed the tournament nine times at.

00:05:01
Speaker 3: Some early exits even when they made it. It's so weird and it's crazy that in that Spansin's ninety nine, I mean, they have seven to our one, I mean seven in that window is nuts for anyone.

00:05:13
Speaker 4: With three different coaches. That's three different coaches. I mean, they haven't won tonight, so let's right now they have six Yeah, but they could. But they very well could win tonight. I mean they are a six and a half point underdog. People are acting like it's certain they're gonna lose. I feel like there are cockroachs that does not I mean, I don't know how you can say certainly they're gonna lose.

00:05:31
Speaker 5: They're not intimidated by anybody. They've proven that. And you know, Rick Betino, Cubby sitting back saying, man, I just destroyed this team.

00:05:36
Speaker 4: In the beginning. Anything that goes to an eleven win Marquette team right before the tournament, that's right. I forgot about a Marquette team that only won eleven games beat them just before the tournament.

00:05:48
Speaker 2: I mean, that's that's crazy now. Michigan.

00:05:50
Speaker 4: On the other hand, there are people saying that if they win, it's one of the greatest teams ever. I don't buy that. Just for the record, I mean, they're storming through the tournament, so in that respect, it's very impressive. They could have like one of the great tournament runs. Of all time, but I'm not willing to yet say that they are, you know, the best, one of the best teams of all time.

00:06:10
Speaker 5: Maybe not one of the best, but one of the best to watch. I mean, they're few watching them ninety points a game, They're you know, throwing alley oop dunks and scoring every which way.

00:06:19
Speaker 4: They are to me, they're fun to watch. Well, I want to preview that game a little more as we get closer, But let's talk about kind of where Kentucky is. All right, So since I've been gone, we have announcements on players, which I think a lot more will come tomorrow, but we have announcements on player Jasper Johnson, Brandon Garrison transferring right, not a surprise on either one of them. Were we gonna say? And Jala Low that I think happened. Maybe that happened the weekend that I left. Any of those three surprise you. No.

00:06:51
Speaker 5: I we fully expected Jalen Low to leave because they were pursuing other point guards. Jasper I've expected. Hindeleika didn't go a well that for him this year. Brandon was the one guy I thought, maybe because Pope loves him so much, it appears maybe might stick around.

00:07:04
Speaker 3: I agree with Ryan. Of the three, I could have seen Brandon Garrison coming back, but I didn't expect Low or Jasper. I think when we played the percentage game, we had Jasper at one just had had a little more faith. But I think we all believe he needs a fresh start somewhere.

00:07:17
Speaker 4: I'm not surprised. I mean Jasper John Well, let's start with Jayalen Low. I think Kentucky has just decided that he can't be the certain starting point guard, not even because how he plays. I just think a durability slash fit part of it. You know, There's been a lot of talk about sort of chemistry and all that, and I want to get.

00:07:44
Speaker 2: To that when we talk about the behind the scenes thing.

00:07:47
Speaker 4: But I do think certainly early in the year, the Jalen Lowe it just it just wasn't working from a chemistry perspective on and off the court. I think that got better actually as the year went on, but it just did it make sense to bring him back and be the certain starting point guard. And if you're Jayalen Low, you're not coming back to back up someone. Yeah.

00:08:07
Speaker 5: So, like basketball guys may say Low is such a ball dominant point guard. It just didn't work with what Pope.

00:08:13
Speaker 2: But I mean, to be fair, he only played like four games.

00:08:15
Speaker 4: I mean true, it's I do think when you make broad judgments about how he played, he only played a handful of games. Yeah, so that would be hard to know. But I also understand why you wouldn't want to rely on it. So he's gone, Jasper Johnson. I'm sad to see it, but it just didn't work out. Didn't work out. It just didn't work out. And I don't blame anybody, but it didn't work out, right, Isn't that the takeaway?

00:08:40
Speaker 3: Yeah? I mean, you know they're saying that maybe people thought in his head, maybe he'd want to give it a redo it Kentucky to prove he can do it. But I just think he's best suited with a fresh start somewhere Pope's offense with all the ball movement. Jasper's more of a guy that kind of needs to be in control a little bit and go get his own bucket like.

00:08:56
Speaker 4: Low in some ways, I mean, Jalen Low's may be more of a traditional point guard. Jasper's more of a score but it's the same issue in some ways.

00:09:04
Speaker 3: Right that and this year and I worried about this going to the season, but he just doesn't have the size to go into the SEC and you know, he can't even get to his own spots, can't really defend well yet to later in the year, he couldnt even bring the ball off the court. So I just think a reset would be good for him overall. You know, no, there's people that have been very critical of him, but I think ninety nine percent of the fan base is rooting for him in his next stop.

00:09:23
Speaker 4: You obviously huge fan support of the kid, known him a long time. Were you sad to see the news or you think it's the best?

00:09:30
Speaker 5: I was sad because it just didn't work out here for him, and I know he wanted it to, and know his family wanted it to. It just didn't work. He's recruited to come here as a two guard, got forced to be at the backup point guard. I want him to succeed somewhere. I think there's bigger and better days ahead for that kid. I got disgusted by some of our fans what they were saying online after he announced he was transferred.

00:09:48
Speaker 4: I mean, it's it's embarrassing. Has some of our fans reacted to that. I agree with you. I feel like I keep saying I want to talk about that, but the online thing is a difference. At some point we have to say, we've got to stop acting like thirty fifty one hundred people online is the representation of the fan base. I'm kind of tired to be honest of a big blue nation being like, well, there's one hundred loud people online, so Kentucky fans team, You're never gonna be able to get people online to be nice, correct, right, Like that's just not gonna happen. That's how the world is today, and the social media platforms, that's a whole nother issue that, like, to me, is a big issue in society. But it stinks, and it does stink for Jasper, especially a Kentucky kid who wanted to play here and it seems like an awesome kid. It stinks. It didn't work. But it also didn't work, and I don't I mean, am I wrong? No, it didn't work.

00:10:49
Speaker 5: He's one of those guys I wish could do a do over.

00:10:51
Speaker 4: I think I don't disagree with you. Yes, maybe it could have worked in a different scenario, yes, yep, but it didn't work as bad. It didn't work, and I hate me too. I hate that it didn't work. I wanted it to work, especially with that family. Yeah, we wanted it to work, but it did. Now Brandon Garrison two years, I actually think people will remember him more fondly because of the last couple of games right in that camp. Yeah, I mean, I was the Santa Clara game and then was one of the SEC Wednesday. We'll have some good memories of him, right It was beg time occasionally.

00:11:29
Speaker 3: That was just the BG experience. I mean, going back to his first year at Kentucky, he had some amazing games at Oklahoma, he was like Garden. Everybody Garden all five spots. When he first got bench from Marino. This past season, it played his best game coming off the bench, so he had his highs. I just think Pope invested too much in him and kind of believed in him more than Brandon was capable of being consistent.

00:11:50
Speaker 6: Like Pope brought that guy back to start would be the start, and you have to remember what Brandon's role needs to be a bench goa.

00:11:56
Speaker 4: Pope envisioned this team being I think was Jayalen Lowe at the point, Uh Otago, Way, Mo Diabatte, and Brandon Garrison and then someone at the three, maybe Chandler. I mean point times, I think he thought, Noah, yes, right, it did. It didn't end up working out, but he thought Garrison was going to be a starting center, and Garrison just Ryan didn't improve enough I think for that to make sense. So honestly, I think it's better for him and for the team that he's probably in the portal too.

00:12:30
Speaker 5: Like you said, though, my memories of him will be nothing but great now because what happened to the well, yeah, really, I kind of hate to see the guy.

00:12:39
Speaker 4: Got me ask you a question. If Ryan Lemon was in charge of the roster, yes, because you've already said you wish do over and you wish Brandon would it was your memories are great, would you just keep everyone, like if you were the GM, would you keep this entire roster and basically run it back without Oway and Aberdeen and add two people? Well, I got to add two dudes.

00:13:00
Speaker 5: I gotta get dudes, because I mean.

00:13:01
Speaker 4: We had two dudes and we weren't losing them.

00:13:05
Speaker 2: We had two dudes and we weren't good.

00:13:07
Speaker 4: But I'm gonna get two better dudes.

00:13:09
Speaker 2: You're gonna get better dudes, and better than those two.

00:13:14
Speaker 4: No, but I do think that's important to like think about this team didn't work. If you brought these guys back, it wasn't gonna work.

00:13:25
Speaker 5: And actually, I guess we could even say our top four dude with low acquaintance and then Oway and Abe those are four top dudes. We lose all four of them.

00:13:32
Speaker 4: The Quaints didn't play.

00:13:33
Speaker 3: I mean, I you know, with Garrison, whatever they paid, if it was in the millions, if he's coming back, you have to sit him down, be like we're not paying you a fraction of that thing, and you're the seventh or eighth man in that case, we'd love to have you back. But in Brandon's side, he can't accept that because he could probably go out and get better.

00:13:49
Speaker 2: Yeah, but I don't think you k can You can't run this back.

00:13:55
Speaker 4: You can't look what happened, but you saying like you want to run it back.

00:13:59
Speaker 5: I feel a fun for these guys, for sure. I feel the fondest for Brandon now after what he did in March Mada.

00:14:03
Speaker 4: I don't know why. I just but you can't both but.

00:14:07
Speaker 2: I get it.

00:14:08
Speaker 4: But you have to make decisions like you can't just go This didn't work, but I feel fondness, so I wish it worked. If you're the GM of the team, are you bringing these guys back? Lowe, Garrison and Jasp are you bringing them back? It's you can't. This is not to some extent, this is not a touchy feely We all like if it's touchy feely. We all want him back. We would all love to see all these guys do. But you have to decide whether you're bringing these guys back. I don't disagree with any of Pope's decisions here, do you know?

00:14:45
Speaker 2: Okay, so you do agree that we should have gotten Y.

00:14:48
Speaker 5: From a coaching perspective, I'm just saying, yeah, just my personal beliefs that I would Brandon would have come back and be our reserve off the bench. That guy not a starter. We had to go get a big man starter with Malicky. Brandon's our guy off the bench.

00:14:59
Speaker 4: Yeah, well, I think Drew's right, that wasn't gonna happen. So now who's we don't know about? Noah?

00:15:06
Speaker 3: That's the I haven't even heard his name mentioned. I mean, I don't have great scoop on the whole team or anything. But I've heard a little bit about each person. I've not heard a.

00:15:14
Speaker 4: Peep about trying have you nothing. I have no idea if he's thinking about coming back or not. I mean, I think these guys, if if they're the good thing about the portal entry having been two weeks after the remember last year that wasn't like that the portal is already these guys know now, or at least very close to them. I mean, if someone's definitely leaving, I think we're gonna find out tomorrow.

00:15:42
Speaker 3: Yeah, I think so, because they're.

00:15:43
Speaker 4: Like exactly, they're gonna want to be like early on getting the mix. So like, Noah, I think we know tomorrow. Let's just go through. Do you think he comes back? No, you said, but you don't know. I don't know.

00:15:57
Speaker 2: Okay, what about you.

00:15:58
Speaker 3: I'll say yes, because I've just made up scenario where he wants to keep wearing the jersey and he'd make more money here than anywhere else. But you know, if he wants to go get shots and play a lot of minutes, he doesn't need to come back because I don't think that role is gonna be there for him.

00:16:08
Speaker 2: I have no idea. Yeah, but I'm just gonna guess no.

00:16:11
Speaker 4: But it's a complete gas Diabaatee by the way, I well, I have a strong opinion what I think this is, but go ahead.

00:16:19
Speaker 5: I don't think he's coming back. I have no idea, but I just feel like he's gonna probably just chase a bag and get money, go somewhere else.

00:16:24
Speaker 4: I think Diabaatee is in the goat is strictly negotiation. I think it's gonna be I think that's probably going to happen one way or the other today. I think UK would like him back. I think he probably would like more money than UK wants to pay right now, and it'll just be whether or not they can get an agreement that simple, and we'll probably know tomorrow.

00:16:44
Speaker 3: I kind of agree with that. If you'd asked me in January, i'd heard he was really interested in the second year. Of course, it would still have to come down the negotiating table. But now I think Pope with all these guys, has to look at and be like, look, we paid you a lot of money last year and you're probably not gonna get that dollar amount this season. And if they want to agree to run it back, at a at a lower rate, then you'll see it. But I don't think many of them will agree to do that.

00:17:04
Speaker 4: Chandler, that's a tough one man.

00:17:07
Speaker 5: You know, if he's thinking about going back home for a couple of years and playing, and we have any.

00:17:11
Speaker 4: Proof that he's thinking about going back home beyond random internet accounts saying it, I don't think.

00:17:17
Speaker 6: I don't expect him to leave. I don't think they could afford him. He's here, yeah, Like why do people think now again? Can things change? But what is the evidence that he's not here? Like I just keep people keep saying, well his wife or how.

00:17:33
Speaker 4: Do people know that? I don't know, Like what are you talking about?

00:17:36
Speaker 3: Also, if you want to play basketball for your life, you're not going to be living at home. Ever, there's gonna be bouncing.

00:17:41
Speaker 4: I mean, I will tell you. When I was in DC, all the national people think the Chandler deal is done, like that he's here. Good. I want a couple of people ask me, like, you know, Chandler's back, right, And I said, well, I haven't heard that, and they go, yeah, he's I mean, they were like his people all says back.

00:18:00
Speaker 2: So I mean I would love for him to say that publicly.

00:18:03
Speaker 4: It would be nice, wouldn't it. But I don't know where all the angst online has come from Chandler. I I kind of tried to research yesterday why do people think he might go to BYU? And I think it's just because he's Mormon, Like I don't. I don't know that there's any other evidence beyond that is there.

00:18:19
Speaker 3: And people keep saying Byu he grew up a fan of Utah, like the Utes, so like if they think, maybe you look at the Utes but they can't pay. I mean, Kentucky's gonna take good care of Chandler. I mean he's gonna be a big piece of next year. And I think he trusts Pope and everything that tells so we think he's back. I would be pretty surprised that Moreno.

00:18:36
Speaker 4: I'm gonna look at you because you have acted like you knew you have had been like sneaky snake dancing with Moreno all year. I think he's back. Yeah, I think something.

00:18:45
Speaker 2: So you haven't been that confident before.

00:18:47
Speaker 5: Maybe maybe right before you left you, I think i'd heard where things were gonna happen. They're gonna keep him, They're gonna make sure they keep him.

00:18:53
Speaker 4: Okay, So I think what's gonna happen with Moreno. He will enter the draft to go through the combine, but with every intention of retire coming back. So unless he went to the combine and was told you're a lottery pick, he's probably back. So I think people should expect him to go through the draft process. But I think with the expectation he'll be back, and if he and assuming he comes back to college basketball, Drew, I think he will be playing.

00:19:22
Speaker 3: I agree with that, and I think you should go through the process. We saw for years guys do that come back. I mean old wage, it just did it last year, So I think Moreno should do that. I hope fans won't overreact to it because I don't think he'd get the feedback he'd want to leave right away. I expect him, and I do.

00:19:36
Speaker 4: Think people should prepare themselves for that announcement. Okay, but don't jump off.

00:19:42
Speaker 2: That's good, though, But that's good good.

00:19:44
Speaker 4: I think it is unless all of a sudden he's a lottery pick. I expect him to be back. So Moreno, Chandler Mason Williams, who I'm gonna admit I know nothing about except that he's Mo Williamson and I don't know. I've never seen him. I I don't know who he is. I'm glad we have another Williams that we need a lot of Williams's. It's most popular last name in America, as you would know if you went to Matt Jones trivia. Oh I didn't know that, Yeah, top ten last names in America. It's like Williams, Jones, Smith, Rodriguez, Garcia. What were the others? Do you remember? Huh?

00:20:23
Speaker 2: Clem was not one of them.

00:20:25
Speaker 4: It was Williams Jones, Smith, Garcia, Rodriguez and there were five more. But anyway, Williams is actually number one now, and you know it by our roster. What about Cam Williams don't know. I know Kentucky wants him, but I think it's completely up in the air. I think that's the one the people around the program are the least clear about. I think that will honestly be determined today. Today's a big day. Today is the day that, as I understand it, the guys that are on the roster now it's like a you make a deal or not today, And really I think that's Cam Williams. Modia BT and Trent Noah. I don't have a sense of what Trent Noah's situation is. I do think when it comes to Cam Williams and modiabat Kentucky would like to have those guys, but it's going to be about if the two sides can come to an agreement, and they may like to have Noah too. I just haven't gotten. I don't know about Noah. I just don't know.

00:21:26
Speaker 3: And Uh Williams and even Diabate with the position they play, they're probably looking at Pope like, hey, you're getting tired Stokes or not. Like Cam Williams is probably gonna leave if they load up on the wing and go get Go, get a star. So I mean Cam especially probably has to fill out what UK is gonna have in front of him and how much you'll have to compete for that job.

00:21:43
Speaker 4: So I have a I feel confident that moreno Chandler, Mason Williams. I haven't Hawthorne. He's a name that hasn't come up in mind. Is he I assume he. I don't know.

00:21:53
Speaker 3: Is he He'll be looking around in at Kentucky.

00:21:55
Speaker 2: Where ye Yeovich? I haven't heard anything about Yeo.

00:21:58
Speaker 3: No if I had to guess, i'd say he's leaving. I would get I don't think you can run it back with him as a starter. So it's like I said, with the other guys, it's like, hey, man, if you want to be taking dude off the bench and take a pay cut, we'd love to have you.

00:22:09
Speaker 4: What's the story about him playing basketball against a group of students.

00:22:11
Speaker 3: Yeah, it's not a good look. They yellowch Hawthorne and Potter went to the Johnson Center and lost. Were they trying well that I don't know. I don't know why they said it. They said it into a microphone. Just don't tell people you lost. We never would have known a dude from the colonel. Yeah, but they admitted to losing. The colonel sticks his nose into things. Who is that?

00:22:29
Speaker 4: He looks like he's like thirteen, But he's always interviewing people and being like you'll like come up to person and be like, are you pro choice of pro life? Do you like nerd? Gummy clusters? Like? WHOA?

00:22:39
Speaker 2: Those two questions have nothing to do with you.

00:22:41
Speaker 3: Yeah, a reporter. I wish our players would have just not admitted that though, So they admitted they got beat. Yes, at the Johnson say keep that one to yourself. All right, well, ty Cock, catch up. Hopefully this is sounding good?

00:22:53
Speaker 4: Rick? Is it? It sounds pretty good?

00:22:56
Speaker 6: All right, We'll be right back, all right, Welcome back at his Kentucky Sports Radio eight F.

00:23:01
Speaker 4: I'm nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven. Text machine is seven seven two seven seven four five two five four. All right. So while I was gone as well, we had a documentary about the UK basketball season. Right.

00:23:17
Speaker 2: The least important thing, but the one that I heard, at least from you all, is that they showed my apartment my old apartment. Am I correct about it?

00:23:25
Speaker 4: It did?

00:23:25
Speaker 3: This looks good, looks like the kitchen has been redone since you lived there.

00:23:29
Speaker 2: So that was my apartment on the documentary it.

00:23:32
Speaker 5: It's definitely been updated since you lived there.

00:23:34
Speaker 2: So that so.

00:23:35
Speaker 4: Apparently where Colin Chandler lives now with his wife with his wife, that's where I live at your old place.

00:23:43
Speaker 2: So now I feel like we can say this right, can we say this now?

00:23:47
Speaker 4: Yeah? So I lived there for a while and then I got replaced by Oscar not grade for them, Yes, by Oscar Combs. They moved Oscar Combs in there. No I I laughed, and then Oscar sheb Way lived there for a year, about a year and a half, maybe, wasn't it.

00:24:12
Speaker 2: And then I didn't know what happened after that.

00:24:15
Speaker 4: And you all told me in the documentary that now Colin Chandler lives there.

00:24:19
Speaker 3: I've known all year that Colin lives there. Told me I have told you this.

00:24:23
Speaker 4: I probably told you one time.

00:24:24
Speaker 2: Yeah, for some reason, it didn't process.

00:24:27
Speaker 4: So Colin's in my place. So how did it look on the doctor? Good? Did it have all the mirrors?

00:24:34
Speaker 3: Mirrors were there, but they've.

00:24:35
Speaker 4: Hung some pictures.

00:24:36
Speaker 2: Oh I didn't do that.

00:24:38
Speaker 3: Yeah, maybe it looks like someone might have run a vacuum. No kitchen look good, but yeah, goes right up the stairs, has so many mirrors.

00:24:45
Speaker 5: I didn't see three hundred pairs of shoes all the floor.

00:24:48
Speaker 3: Place looks good, well, good, looks real good. Well, Now I want to apartment complex. Yeah wow, So that was for people don't know that apartment complex.

00:25:01
Speaker 4: Drew has lived there, Darron Lamb because Drew got his old mattress. I lived there. Then Oscar replaced me, and then now Colin Chandler is there.

00:25:12
Speaker 3: And if you want to go way back, when I lived there. Rodney Dent lived a couple of doors down.

00:25:17
Speaker 2: Did live there?

00:25:18
Speaker 4: Okay, why going on over there? Why going on across from the Applebeasts? Yeah, but well that's exciting. So so tell me about the documentary. I've seen clips online, but I haven't gotten to watch the whole thing because I was in the airport flying when it was on.

00:25:33
Speaker 5: Good It kind of gives a person who's not a Kentucky fan, it gives you an idea what being a Kentucky fans all about. You know, the low's, you know, pretty low, the highs are pretty high. My big takeaway was that whole Gonzaga series where they showed the fans booing our team and how Pope kind of almost got choked up talking about it after the game.

00:25:51
Speaker 6: So I saw that clip with Todd Harrison World Why Todd Harris yelling at the guy.

00:25:56
Speaker 3: Go get him to the best part of the whole document Yeah.

00:25:58
Speaker 4: I mean, first of all, you all heard us on the show over the years talking about worldwide Todd Harris, and you're like, probably like, who's worldwide Todd Harris?

00:26:04
Speaker 2: And we said, you know, he's worldwide because like worldwide West, he's.

00:26:07
Speaker 3: Everywhere he's everywhere.

00:26:08
Speaker 4: Well, he ends up in the documentary because the guy booing worldwide. Todd Harris is on the floor challenging to a fight. He said, get out of here if you're not gonna He was like, bring it on, and I got a quarter zip. I have a quarter zip. What some we need more?

00:26:26
Speaker 3: Todd Harris is like that keeping the fan base and check, uh.

00:26:29
Speaker 4: It did Pope did get emotional?

00:26:31
Speaker 1: Did?

00:26:31
Speaker 4: I actually thought though Pope the clip I saw where he was talking about fan negativity, actually thought he gave a really good answer because he was basically like, obviously we don't like it, but they care, and that caring is important, which I think is exactly what you should say. Yes, I don't think fans should boo. We said that at the time. I think booing is bad. At the same time, it was a unique situation. All those fans had gone there and they lose by thirty five. I was there and it was expensive, go yeah, and so, but I liked I think Pope handled that answer actually very well. But I also can't lie that I laughed. That were why Todd Harris is on their screaming I get out of here if you're not gonna your hair.

00:27:15
Speaker 5: You know, we know we talked to him all the time.

00:27:17
Speaker 4: He's never mentioned that that he got in a screaming match. Probably didn't know he's gonna be on c until I mean, he probably didn't think that that was gonna end up on the documentary. Was there any news that came out of it? Was there anything that like, did they what do you say about the Louisville thing?

00:27:33
Speaker 3: If you're a Kentucky fan that sat down to learn something, you didn't get anything. I mean, they blew right over the Louisville game. Pope is an interview talking about it. He kind of doesn't. He gave the same answer he did then just kind of said the guys were too hyped too early, and they just I mean.

00:27:47
Speaker 2: I feel said they were like fighting John with fans.

00:27:49
Speaker 3: Fans, but we knew that at the time. He said that. Then, if you were looking for some real answers, it didn't have anything.

00:27:53
Speaker 2: It didn't really have anything.

00:27:54
Speaker 4: Uh what did Was there anything good from the Santa Clara like a celebration video.

00:27:59
Speaker 5: Always had because they showed Otaga and his mom embracing after the game. That's cool, that was kind of cool. It'll take angle with his mom. They did a couple of times are really kind of cool. But after the Santa Clara game they got to have a moment.

00:28:10
Speaker 4: Is there anywhere to watch it?

00:28:12
Speaker 3: I watched it on because I didn't watch it live. I watched it on Paramount app.

00:28:16
Speaker 4: Oh is it on Paramount Plus?

00:28:17
Speaker 3: I just pulled it up on demand. I didn't have it recorded.

00:28:19
Speaker 2: I'll go watch it. I just see my apartments.

00:28:21
Speaker 3: Yea. It was also Michael and Malakai on the couch. You could tell they're setting up LSU games. It was cool going back in time. They were talking and then they go straight into Baton Rouge with the with the Malachi laight in her shide. That was Tom Leach was interviewed a lot. Tom did a good job, but overall, like if you said down like I'm going to get some answers about this year. If you were tuned in all year to what was going on, you didn't learn anything new?

00:28:41
Speaker 4: Okay, it was just good. I love this. I'd like to see it and see what uh see what that's like now? The other thing, so to understand I I went to the dude went to the Duke Connecticut. All the Saint John's all those games in DC on I was there on Sunday. Then like the rest of the week, I was doing some things, but I was just pretty chill. And then I'm sitting there on Thursday eating lunch and you know, I always have.

00:29:11
Speaker 2: My phone, and I was like, I'm gonna have lunch. I'm having lunch with a friend.

00:29:14
Speaker 4: Turn it upside down and then I turned it over and you know, had like ten phone calls and I'm like, tweet went out?

00:29:25
Speaker 2: What is this?

00:29:26
Speaker 4: And then I see the tweet has gone out about me Ad Myron potentially taking a job at ESPN Radio. What was weird is it didn't feel like UK fans had seen it. It was like media people. And then I think later that night maybe Oscar retweeted it. That's when the Kentucky fans saw and that's when the Kentucky fans huh. But like I had had to deal with a day of it where it didn't feel like Kentucky fans. Did you all see it?

00:29:56
Speaker 5: I don't think I saw it till that evening.

00:29:58
Speaker 3: Any people will send it to I mean kind of like, hey, what's this? But it wasn't like an overwhelm like my phone didn't blow up. I mean, just a few people texted like that.

00:30:05
Speaker 4: Was a really weird thing because I've never had that happen, where like something gets out and I had no idea that it was coming. So then of course, like everybody's right. So I just wanted to say I didn't say anything about it because really there's nothing to say right now. Like I think that story said that we were like leading candidates for this job. I don't know. I mean, if they say so, I don't know. I mean we've had conversations with ESPN, and you know, we'll see there's nothing that I there's nothing I can really say. It was one of those like, oh, well, no one told me so, So I don't know. To be honest with you, now, what I can say with confidence is, no matter what happens with that or with any other particular job. By the way, I've been up up and considered a lot of jobs over the last ten years, including with a number of companies that you know, and I just have decided not to do it, or maybe they've decided not to do it. So but the one thing I can tell you is this show will continue with me on it no matter what Okay, no matter what I decide to do or what someone asked me to do, We'll still be doing this now. Could it change in terms of time of day, Yeah, it could depending on what happens, but it will still be around and it will still exist, and it will still have me on it. But I know I've had since Oscar tweeted it, five hundred people write me and go, are you going to say something? I don't really have anything to say because the story said I was the leading candidate, but doesn't mean you have the job.

00:32:07
Speaker 2: And I found out I was the leading candidate from the story.

00:32:11
Speaker 5: Do you think ESPN leaked it out to somebody that.

00:32:13
Speaker 2: I have no idea? I mean it didn't come from me.

00:32:16
Speaker 4: I know that didn't come from mind. I would very highly doubt it came from Iron because Myron's at the Final four and all of a sudden he gets people like and he was where's this coming from?

00:32:26
Speaker 3: Trying to write about Dustyn called me and was.

00:32:28
Speaker 4: Like did you say it? And I was like, no, I thought you said it. So anyway, we'll see.

00:32:33
Speaker 5: Well after Oscar's tweet, you'd, like Drew said, we got a bunch of people ask us worried about what would happen to this show.

00:32:38
Speaker 4: This show will The really reason I'm bringing this up is that I do think it's important for people to know this show will still exist. I did hear through the grapevine that, like Louisville media was like dancing, that this show was going to go away. Well you're gonna have to stop dance. There are no more dance. I mean, and dance if you want. We will still exist. And if you're not careful, we'll come up against you.

00:33:06
Speaker 3: Watch your tom slut.

00:33:06
Speaker 2: Remember like y'all have avoided this time slid over the years.

00:33:11
Speaker 4: Well, we'll just come to you if you want, because that could be what ends up happening, depending on what time of day you're on.

00:33:17
Speaker 3: I feel like we can probably just know and you eliminate a six a mks our morning drive situation.

00:33:23
Speaker 4: I think that's fair. Just just knowing you a little bit, it's fair to say it won't be on before this I'm not a big getter upper early in the morning, so if you're if you're trying to guess, I can be fair to say it won't occur before today.

00:33:40
Speaker 5: We're all behind you, we support you. There's a great, could be a great opportunity for you, admiring. We'll follow you wherever you go. If you go to one in the morning, two in the morning, six in the morning, we'll follow you along.

00:33:49
Speaker 2: Well, that's nice of you. Are are you speaking for everyone?

00:33:53
Speaker 4: I'm speaking for everyone. I'm the most person I know. I will say we did, Drew, We did a zoom. I wanted to tell everybody myself what was going on, and we zoomed the whole ks R group and it looked like Ryan was gonna poop his pand I just worried. Ryan had a look of terror. Why didn't you just because we didn't do that till Friday? Why didn't you just call? You seemed so I could tell on the call You've got my phone though.

00:34:27
Speaker 5: Yeah, I didn't want to bother the only vacation I know.

00:34:29
Speaker 4: We'd talked when you came back. I've just said to say my prayers.

00:34:34
Speaker 3: Can I tell you my favorite part of the zoom? Yes, when Ryan had to leave early to do a radio hit and he couldn't turn off the zoom.

00:34:43
Speaker 4: And you just yelled, rant me ask you a question. Let me bring Rick on Shannon's out this week. Rick, if you were on a zoom call and you needed to leave, What would you do?

00:34:54
Speaker 5: I'd probably say I needed to go poop.

00:35:00
Speaker 4: That was not what he needed to do. Rick would you say, though, like I'm gonna go. And let's say you couldn't get the zoom to turn off. What would you do?

00:35:09
Speaker 6: Well, jeez, make a sign and put in front of the computer and say we'll be back in a few minutes.

00:35:16
Speaker 2: Okay, here's another thing. Just turn your phone off.

00:35:20
Speaker 5: That's what I ended up doing. I couldn't find that.

00:35:22
Speaker 4: Ryan was just like, how do I get out of here? What do I do? And I was like, just exit the phone call?

00:35:29
Speaker 2: And You're like, I don't know how it is the app.

00:35:31
Speaker 4: Just turn the app off like you were, you were freaking out about how to get off the You literally, any phone call you can just hit the power button.

00:35:38
Speaker 5: I thought on the zoom callor would be like a red button.

00:35:42
Speaker 4: It says, it wasn't there.

00:35:44
Speaker 5: I had your five faces on my screen and.

00:35:46
Speaker 4: No other place.

00:35:47
Speaker 3: It was a throwback to the periscope days for the long time castAR people, when you could never turn off your periscope and you would just be hitting your phone.

00:35:53
Speaker 4: That is true.

00:35:54
Speaker 2: I guess I did that.

00:35:55
Speaker 4: Grilling season is here and you could stock up with no Cha Linda Farms Beef. How good is it? Here's a recent Google review. Five stars is absolutely deserved from the start. The customer services have been amazing and that alone made a great impression. Having tried the burgers at Kspar, I purchased a sampler box and it was amazing. The quality is apparent. I can't imagine buying from a grocery store ever again. And I've started a monthly subscription. It's really that good and it's no Ja lend of Farms. Go to no Cha Lendofarms dot com in O C h E. Lendofarms dot com or call eight five nine seven oh seven seven thousand and four to schedule a visit. We'll take a break and be right back. IT'SSR Welcome back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio eight five nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven. If you have questions, the text machine is seven seven two seven seven four five two five four. I'm glad to answer them or comments. Got to get people back in the text machine flow. One person rights, Matt, what players do you think from the portal are interested with? Us, I honestly don't know we Uh, I'm gonna have conversations this afternoon where I think by tonight i'll have a better idea of whose Kentucky is going after. I haven't gotten to have those, but I'm I think i'll have him tonight, So I think i'll have a better idea. The only person I know, and I don't know if he's entered the portal yet. As the kid from from Syracuse entered the portal, the point guard, No, I haven't seen it.

00:37:25
Speaker 3: Yeah, Donny Freeman, I don't know.

00:37:26
Speaker 4: If he hasn't entered the portal, then I didn't say that big one just.

00:37:30
Speaker 3: Hit the portal during the break though to watch.

00:37:32
Speaker 4: The Blackwell Black. Yeah, Kentucky wants him, but so does everybody. Yeah, so I think like Duke's gonna want him. I don't know if we I don't know if we'll get but I think the kid from Syracuse, I'm fairly certain they're they're very interested in him.

00:37:47
Speaker 3: And uh, Blackwell, there's you know all the internet rumors are spurring saying Kentucky's prepared to make him a rich man if he wants to come here. And now, I mean he still has to make that decision. That is one to watch. He might be the best guard in the portal.

00:37:58
Speaker 4: Now, yeah, he would be, he would be your He what I don't I just heard Freeman's name this morning. What positions he play?

00:38:05
Speaker 3: He's more like a guard forward, big forward?

00:38:07
Speaker 2: Can he shoot? That's what I want? Can are there people that can shoot?

00:38:11
Speaker 3: No? He can't really shoot.

00:38:12
Speaker 4: Well, good, that's what we need.

00:38:13
Speaker 3: And then Kate Lewis is in the portal. He can't really shoot either, But I know a lot of players want him. Yeah, from the free throw line. That's crazy for a guard playing fifty six percent from the free starting every single game.

00:38:24
Speaker 4: I'm out Kate and Lewis. Yeah, yeah, I'm out. So I do think I'll have a better uh a better idea on that stuff, on that stuff. Later, one person writes, Matt, I listened to you yesterday on your show with Myron with Tim Welsh. He sounded like you all fought the whole time. No, but that was.

00:38:46
Speaker 2: Unique doing a show with that guy.

00:38:48
Speaker 5: Yeah.

00:38:48
Speaker 4: I liked him a lot. He's a nice guy, but he's like I couldn't tell for a long time if he if he.

00:38:55
Speaker 5: Liked me, Just argumentative of a lite.

00:38:58
Speaker 4: No, I just think he's a coach, and you know how coaches are, like they take up for coach, like we had to argue. I would encourage everyone to go listen to the last ten minutes.

00:39:07
Speaker 2: Of our one yesterday.

00:39:09
Speaker 4: Okay, we're talking about Geno, r Ema and down Staley and I went back and listened to it this morning, and it was a little more tense than I realized in the moment. In the moment, I thought like we were just playing around, and then when you listen back to you're like, oh, okay, but we had a good show. We interviewed. I interviewed Jim Calhoun yesterday. Oh wow, well that's on our three and he said, like he said a word that you can't say on the radio, but he said.

00:39:39
Speaker 2: Really yeah.

00:39:40
Speaker 3: I honestly doesn't surprise me from him coming from.

00:39:42
Speaker 4: He never does interviews, but he likes Tim, so he did it. And so I interviewed Jim Calhoun, Koran Butler, like we had we had all kinds of people. But but go back and listen to our Geno don Staley comment. By the way, what'd you think of that?

00:39:57
Speaker 5: It was a bad look for Gino. I thought he came across is a sorry, whiny loser.

00:40:01
Speaker 4: So did I. What's wrong with you? Gino? Like he kept wanting. I was watching the game live, and when he did that third quarter interview, I was like, dude, yes, what is up with you? And then at the end, by the way, have you seen the clip from the other side, you can kind well you can read their lips. Don Staley sitting there going I will kick Gino's ass.

00:40:23
Speaker 2: Yeah, I believe.

00:40:24
Speaker 4: I believe it. She put money on her and that I wouldn't mess with that woman, would you know?

00:40:28
Speaker 3: I'm all in on Don Staley on the side Geno, and of all people, it shocked me coming from him.

00:40:34
Speaker 4: And then he apologized to the staff but not her. I mean, that was our argument, me and Tim Wells. He was like, well, she apologized the staff, and I said yeah, but he didn't yell at the staff. He yelled at don Staley. Yes, you didn't say her name, and he was like, well that includes this, don Staff. I was like, come on, Tim, Tim, and he didn't. He's not going to He didn't want to criticize him, and so it was.

00:40:56
Speaker 5: You know, he was a sore loser Geno and obviously one of the maybe the women's college coach of all time. But from here on out, and I hear his name, I want to think of him yelling at Don Staley and yeah, my.

00:41:06
Speaker 4: Jersey was damned torn. Well your own player to it was all for Don state me too, And I kind of wanted to fight.

00:41:15
Speaker 2: And she was like, oh, she would have killed him.

00:41:18
Speaker 4: She was like she said, I will kick his ass like ten times. Yes, yes she did. I remember. You know what Myron said on the show. Myron said, Gino's lucky that they that they held down back because there were some people that would have come out of the crowd without a Social Security numbers. After it was like, okay, South Carolina, I wouldn't listen, but I might Gino. I hate listen looking people. Why you've won twelve titles?

00:41:50
Speaker 3: Yes, And when he beat her last year, it's all this big hug and this love face. When he's get a butt kicked, you know, he's throwing a field.

00:41:56
Speaker 4: When they win, Oh you're a great team. When they lose, you didn't shake my hand? And what was he mad? They didn't shake the hand before the game.

00:42:03
Speaker 3: And you mentioned it after the game, but then didn't it come out they did shake hands, so shake hands twice.

00:42:08
Speaker 2: Apparently its supposed to shake hands twice.

00:42:09
Speaker 4: He doesn't even know what he's saying. I'm all in for GTO. We'll take it, take a break, be right back to kiss up.
