Episode 67 - Space Wolves Pt 1 - What they are, where they come from and (of course) Leman Russ
On Today’s cast we start our coverage of the Space Wolves. We open with the creation of the 6th legion by the emperor and its initial design and function in the Galaxy. From there we move into Leman Russ and his arrival on Fenris, and ascension to the leader of the Space Wolf legion. After this we move onto how an aspirant is chosen and then how they become a Space Wolf. Then we focus on the Space Wolves history from pre-heresy through Leman leaving the galaxy. Our main focus is on how the events of the Horus Heresy affected Leman and by proxy his legion. We close on how Brad broke the Space Wolves with a horrible, horrible list that caused GW to nerf the entire army.

[SPEAKER_01]: On today's episode, we'll be cussi-hearing Brad Go. [SPEAKER_02]: over and over again because we're talking about space wolves L and V. No need for them my friend W-O-O-F. [SPEAKER_01]: That's what you meant by that L and V. I'm like, when is this? [SPEAKER_01]: No, I'm not sure. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't hate space wolves. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm just not as excited as Brad is about them. [SPEAKER_01]: That's very excited. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, this is one of this, it's Brad's favorite faction to break. [SPEAKER_01]: All right. [SPEAKER_01]: So those are the new door of the Forty K lore cast. [SPEAKER_01]: This is a weekly cast. [SPEAKER_01]: Folks in the lore of where I'm or Forty K releasing every Monday at around seven p.m. [SPEAKER_01]: Eastern time. [SPEAKER_01]: I say around because that's when I we push it out to everybody when you're app updates. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know on that note for those of you who've been listening for a while or new to listening. [SPEAKER_01]: If you could leave a comment on the cast and telling us that you like it or that you don't like it, I have to read them either way. [SPEAKER_01]: And give us a like, it does help us if pushes out to more people and will improve. [SPEAKER_01]: And it really, a lot, by the way, it's a real thing. [SPEAKER_01]: It's not weirdly. [SPEAKER_01]: A lot of course it's a lot of people. [SPEAKER_02]: They're like that couple of comments helps. [SPEAKER_01]: like, oh, I see that it's weird how much it helps. [SPEAKER_01]: I think we're weirdly that be no, I say commenting was good. [SPEAKER_02]: It's a very small amount of comments helps hugely. [SPEAKER_01]: That's true. [SPEAKER_01]: Also, we always push our totally free discord in this cast. [SPEAKER_01]: We built a discord if there's no, no, no, a discord is [SPEAKER_01]: Google it. [SPEAKER_01]: Lord knows I should be the one explaining it, but we have a totally free discord for all of you for any fans of the Forty Kay universe. [SPEAKER_01]: It's made of people that talk about the cast, Forty Kay lore, hobby, memes, anything. [SPEAKER_01]: As we've been saying last year cast, big shout out to Kevin, Ethan, Maisie, Trevor, Ryan, David, and Brian. [SPEAKER_01]: Those are our mods. [SPEAKER_01]: They're really helping keeping it going. [SPEAKER_01]: Sure, some people don't like the fact there's mods, but see fortune. [SPEAKER_01]: And that's why we have mods. [SPEAKER_01]: Please don't see fortune. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, he's like a fair to understand what fortune was and go. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah, mods, mods are good. [SPEAKER_01]: So if you're looking for a place to interact, please follow the link in the show notes to it and join. [SPEAKER_01]: Lastly though, we also have Brad. [SPEAKER_02]: Brad is a coach of why did you have to make it sell so sad? [SPEAKER_02]: Lastly, we've have Brad. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, let's true. [SPEAKER_02]: The price is right. [SPEAKER_02]: No, he's like it sounds. [SPEAKER_01]: Fine. [SPEAKER_01]: Luckily. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, there we go. [SPEAKER_01]: You all of our great joy. [SPEAKER_01]: We have Brad's coaching services. [SPEAKER_01]: You can go to our website, the forty klorcast.com. [SPEAKER_01]: Again, link is in the show notes. [SPEAKER_01]: You can see Brad's page for coaching services with a close thirty years of playing the game and ten years plus of coaching, Brad really is a solid resource. [SPEAKER_01]: And his coaching just for people who are don't know like the coaching is, it's focused primarily in helping you understand the game better to kind of improve not just your game play, but the game experience you have on the table top. [SPEAKER_02]: trying to make it more fun. [SPEAKER_02]: I want you to win more, but I want you to have more fun first. [SPEAKER_01]: Yep. [SPEAKER_01]: So if you want to reach him, you can go to our website, you know, a discord that both available, but Brad didn't make a website for a long time. [SPEAKER_01]: And so forever, he was shouting his name into this podcast, which wasn't a problem to the podcast got popular. [SPEAKER_01]: And now every spam bot on earth knows what your email is. [SPEAKER_01]: So Brad, [SPEAKER_01]: Too late now. [SPEAKER_02]: I love that we didn't do it for a while and we can't. [SPEAKER_02]: We brought it back. [SPEAKER_01]: We got rid of everyone's like, well, this has to come back. [SPEAKER_01]: So I enjoy. [SPEAKER_01]: Let's make, let's, let's feed the spam bots. [SPEAKER_02]: Old man, Brad, Forty Kay at gmail.com. [SPEAKER_02]: I welcome you spam to my folders. [SPEAKER_01]: It doesn't matter. [SPEAKER_01]: There's, there's lots of single ladies in your area. [SPEAKER_01]: You have an Amazon packet that needs to be delivered. [SPEAKER_01]: Probably. [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, there's so many that talk about the cast of the metrics they have for us. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, great. [SPEAKER_01]: All the good deals, since that's great. [SPEAKER_01]: We had some great deals in my cast. [SPEAKER_02]: A lot of things. [SPEAKER_02]: A lot of things. [SPEAKER_01]: All right. [SPEAKER_01]: So let's get this, let's get this going. [SPEAKER_01]: The space wolves. [SPEAKER_01]: So just give a quick kind of background that we'll dive more into them. [SPEAKER_01]: The space wolves are the six legion of the space marines. [SPEAKER_01]: They were actually, you know, everybody else they were founded all the same time. [SPEAKER_01]: All twenty legions were founded at the exact same time, but each legion was a little bit different and was used for different things. [SPEAKER_01]: The Space Wolves were primarily known during the Great Crusade for their ferocity and their battle style, and that has not changed. [SPEAKER_02]: They found something they liked and they stuck with it. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: From a lore perspective, the Space Wolves are interesting because they're different from other legions. [SPEAKER_01]: And I give GW credit. [SPEAKER_01]: They really went out of their way to create a faction that's quite different from the others within the Space Wolves. [SPEAKER_01]: Maybe not every edition's felt this way, but the space wolves really do get some very unique rules that play very well into them. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I don't think the definition rules are that good. [SPEAKER_02]: They've historically, they've had a lot of really good flavor because the space wolves are character driven, personality driven. [SPEAKER_02]: They have bands. [SPEAKER_02]: They come out, it's just so nice because they have different ways of fighting. [SPEAKER_02]: based on who's with them. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and that's that's where on the tabletop they've been really unique and different. [SPEAKER_01]: So when you would play either when you play space walls, you play against space walls. [SPEAKER_01]: It wasn't like you're playing at space screens until tenth edition. [SPEAKER_02]: You know, like companies made a big difference. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and how you do say really was a better thing. [SPEAKER_01]: But from a lore perspective, and Brad Hick on this a second ago, I don't want to dive it more into it. [SPEAKER_01]: What makes them really enjoyable is that they're very heavily character-driven, more so than anyone else, I think, in the game. [SPEAKER_01]: Maybe he asks some of the chaos factions, and not even as much as he used to be. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, it really is, they are, you know, [SPEAKER_01]: We're actually going to do our second cast this is just going to be on the stories of a heroes of the space wolves. [SPEAKER_01]: And this is because the space wolves themselves are obsessed with creating sagas for themselves. [SPEAKER_02]: They show up literally telling, they have, oh, it's old Norse skulls. [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: They have telling the stories of your, they have huge banners that are straight up [SPEAKER_02]: Right, previous victories, all the times that we beat the shit out of somebody. [SPEAKER_01]: Those victories are like, sixty percent peric by the way. [SPEAKER_02]: Did everyone die? [SPEAKER_01]: But I won. [SPEAKER_02]: That matter. [SPEAKER_02]: Just get a one guy limp back and go hundred percent victory. [SPEAKER_01]: Uh-huh. [SPEAKER_01]: And they also, like, holding about them, it's like, like, dark angels and the blood angels, the space will have a lot of their own units to help make this [SPEAKER_01]: You know, more unique. [SPEAKER_01]: Troops, planes, objective. [SPEAKER_01]: Actually, they found a dumber way to make cavalry. [SPEAKER_01]: That is actually a true thing. [SPEAKER_01]: I will say, like, because on any thought I wasn't, I was going to say, oh, horses are stupid, but riding a wolf is smart. [SPEAKER_01]: No. [SPEAKER_01]: In fact, one of their main guys is on a Santa sled being pulled by two wolves, I think, from that mistake. [SPEAKER_01]: Two wolves. [SPEAKER_01]: Which is just like me. [SPEAKER_01]: Thunderwolves. [SPEAKER_01]: Thank you very much. [SPEAKER_01]: That's just regular. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes. [SPEAKER_01]: Fire Prison make Ben Hergo. [SPEAKER_01]: That's what it would be like. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, he's coming right at us with those wolves running at Wolf's speed. [SPEAKER_01]: I have a hover tank with a, it's a spaceship with a fire prism on it. [SPEAKER_01]: A fire with a, I think you called it a hover tank. [SPEAKER_02]: You're like, it could just fly. [SPEAKER_01]: It also can go to the space, but it's not going to do because I'm not really in a rush. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm being chased by two wolves pulling a sleigh. [SPEAKER_01]: You're about to get beat up. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, if it gets there, but before it gets there, fire. [SPEAKER_02]: Four up involved. [SPEAKER_01]: Prism Cannon. [SPEAKER_01]: Nah. [SPEAKER_02]: He doesn't exist anymore. [SPEAKER_02]: Which is how it should have been. [SPEAKER_01]: I back to the good thing. [SPEAKER_01]: Space wolves also are completely in your face combat army. [SPEAKER_01]: And if you can't tell him Brad and I, we prefer melee armies. [SPEAKER_01]: I think I think that's it's better for the stories. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, I'm just taking the table top wise. [SPEAKER_01]: It's a better experience for everybody. [SPEAKER_01]: People don't like losing the stupid town who hide behind crap and shoot at you. [SPEAKER_02]: The biggest thing is is that even if you're getting smashed in Forty K in melee, [SPEAKER_02]: You're still inflicting casually. [SPEAKER_02]: You're involved in the game. [SPEAKER_02]: You're not just picking up your models and setting them back on your training. [SPEAKER_01]: town. [SPEAKER_01]: We did the fast, I can go back to it. [SPEAKER_01]: So the space will floor as a result of this is exhilarating violent like really kind of fast-paced action adventure. [SPEAKER_02]: Which is tons of great combat stories of epic heroes. [SPEAKER_02]: Yes. [SPEAKER_02]: They have epic heroes have our epic heroes for a reason. [SPEAKER_02]: They get bail with style poems about them because [SPEAKER_02]: They do badass shit. [SPEAKER_01]: The last piece I want to jump on though, and I haven't known before, but I really need to, is maybe the best part of Space Wolves is their fan base. [SPEAKER_01]: I've been playing this game for a while now. [SPEAKER_01]: You a lot longer. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm gonna say it honestly. [SPEAKER_01]: I've never had a bad game playing against Space Wolves. [SPEAKER_01]: I think that I really do believe their player base is one of the best in the game. [SPEAKER_01]: They love their army. [SPEAKER_01]: They have they tend to do really good. [SPEAKER_01]: I've seen some of the best paint jobs I've seen have actually been space wolves. [SPEAKER_01]: Some of the more some of the more versions. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, some of the boards. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, some of you have some of display boards. [SPEAKER_01]: So I'm going to call out the space wolf players and just say so far you guys [SPEAKER_01]: My experience does do it really great and it really is something that you should take pride in because I think the space wolf community is a very very good community and when Brad comes steps into it every now and then in ruins an entire edition for you [SPEAKER_01]: Remember mine, you don't be so nice to them. [SPEAKER_01]: Now, one last little bit on Spacels for we're going. [SPEAKER_01]: They're actually one of the earliest retcons in the game where we're going to cover this. [SPEAKER_01]: They were originally written as like a first leg in like stoic loyalty to the emperor, and then they just decided later on to make them like a violent-handed retribution. [SPEAKER_01]: However, GW did this retcon in a very unique way. [SPEAKER_01]: Usually when GW does a retcon, they do the whole, I don't know what you're talking about. [SPEAKER_01]: It was always this way. [SPEAKER_01]: It's always this way. [SPEAKER_01]: I never wrote that thing. [SPEAKER_01]: GW actually admits they did this and they created a story arc. [SPEAKER_01]: Over the last maybe ten fifteen years to explain the difference and some of the stuff with some of the Lehman some of the stuff with Lehman Ross some of the with Bjorn Ragnarble Ragnar and what what has it and they've used that to kind of turn the Legion from what they originally wrote it was to what it is today They originally wrote it at was kind of man Yeah, that's why because originally it was just another Legion, but [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I just want to call it out because they do get red cond, but it's, it is in my mind the best, the best done red cond in the game. [SPEAKER_01]: All right, so let's, let's dive into kind of ancient space wall history, which is the formation of the sixth legion. [SPEAKER_01]: Before we do that, I actually realized we didn't do a good job of something before. [SPEAKER_01]: So we touched on it. [SPEAKER_01]: We touched on it. [SPEAKER_01]: We touched on it, but the first founding of the legion didn't do a good job, but we at least, we didn't mention it. [SPEAKER_01]: We glazed over everything. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: So let's start with with the actual founding is we didn't do it before so we'll do it right now. [SPEAKER_01]: So all twenty legions started about a hundred thousand strong and all hundred thousand of these twenty legions were all pulled from terror the emperor [SPEAKER_01]: You know, they did the gene seeding of implanting the organs at sixty percent work. [SPEAKER_01]: Got it. [SPEAKER_01]: He did all that stuff, but he did it with the primarction genetic code, because even though Chaos whisked them all away, he still had the genes of them. [SPEAKER_02]: Well, also, let's talk about the fact that [SPEAKER_02]: every Legion originally started out without its primarq and saw battle and a lot of battle right before well before yeah it's not like these guys are bright-eyed and bushy-tailed and slap a primarq on now these guys have been in multiple war oh I mean it's a means I mean there were some guy let's play centuries for a couple of them yeah depending on which primarq it's a kind of a matter of how farious the question mark um yeah these are the whole time [SPEAKER_01]: So the legions, though, what's interesting, what I want to touch on here from the legions is that the emperor also planned out who to put in each of the legions. [SPEAKER_01]: He's something, because the emperor seemed to somehow know, obviously knew who the primarks were and built the legions to match those primarks. [SPEAKER_01]: And what I mean by that is that he built the legions based on who we recruited into them. [SPEAKER_02]: in the style of fights that he put them in. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, the Emperor actually assigns a lot of these legions to fight in a certain style of combat, but it's a certain style of combat because of the engagement that he put them in. [SPEAKER_01]: But what I mean, yes, and the thing is is that he knows the genetic code that's going into them is going to lean them a certain way. [SPEAKER_01]: So the example is the Imperial Fests. [SPEAKER_01]: I can feel these Imperial Fests all came from an industrial sections of terrorists. [SPEAKER_01]: These people, these are all people who are being uplifted, they all had a deep understanding and love for the construction, which makes perfect as a Imperial Fests. [SPEAKER_01]: The Salamanders came from the volcanic regions of terror, which I assume, [SPEAKER_01]: The ring of fire, I don't know what that meant by the light. [SPEAKER_01]: I read it, and I was like, that makes zero sense. [SPEAKER_02]: And it also has nothing to do with nocturne, but go ahead. [SPEAKER_01]: I know, but it's just, it's just fun if they were like, oh, yeah, it's that all the salamanders were pulled from the volcanic regions of Earth. [SPEAKER_01]: And I'm like, [SPEAKER_01]: It's actually pretty well spread out, man. [SPEAKER_01]: It's not like the ring of fires gigantic. [SPEAKER_01]: It's the entire plate, but whatever. [SPEAKER_01]: The iron hands actually came from the wastelands, which I like because actually the idea of the iron hands is they're supposed to like the madmax of of terror. [SPEAKER_01]: This way they would embrace technology so they could survive. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, they can, they basically were, to guys that can, Magaiver anything. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: The space was, though, where you need, they weren't pulled from a region, but from all over, except they were kind of, except for a woman. [SPEAKER_02]: When you pulled their HR file, it said, crazy, mobile. [SPEAKER_01]: They're like, put them in the wall. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes. [SPEAKER_01]: They were all barbarians. [SPEAKER_01]: They were, they were largely violent. [SPEAKER_01]: They, they, all their, again, this is one of the exact laugh at the Emperor Conquer's terror. [SPEAKER_01]: in, you know, and then at the end of it, he's playable from barbaric regions of terror. [SPEAKER_01]: So, apparently, he did kind of shit job. [SPEAKER_02]: Uh, no, because, you know, let's just go where it is. [SPEAKER_02]: Emperors a dick, he left certain places semi-encoflick, so he could have warriors that were proven by fire to jump into these legions. [SPEAKER_01]: That's where the space walls were pulled from. [SPEAKER_01]: this a little bit different though than like the night lords and raving guard who were actually taken from criminals in assassins. [SPEAKER_01]: These were more just. [SPEAKER_01]: Roving war bands and he was like, oh, yeah, I'm going to make you guys space. [SPEAKER_02]: It was it was people that were. [SPEAKER_02]: Really, I was just saying. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, although what's odd about it is that when I read to that, my thought would be, okay, so this Legion's gonna be a problem Legion. [SPEAKER_01]: No, from the go, the space wolf Legion, was the most loyal. [SPEAKER_01]: Hard core. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'd be like, different, because we talked about the first Legion with who became the Dark Angels, being loyal, it's different. [SPEAKER_01]: The space wolves were just, you give them a subtle hint of what you want them to do, and they're other gone. [SPEAKER_02]: And they go and swipe it. [SPEAKER_02]: And they didn't, they didn't ask questions, didn't want to know stuff. [SPEAKER_02]: They wanted, [SPEAKER_02]: From the get-go though, they wanted to be glorious warriors fighting for the most glorious of leaders, which was the Emperor. [SPEAKER_01]: So the sixth legion kind of like the first legion before the lion came into play, just whatever the emperor wanted, they would do. [SPEAKER_01]: What I find interesting about the two of them is the sixth legion and the first legion have a lot in common. [SPEAKER_01]: The first legion, well, as we covered it in the dark, it's covered in the dark angels cast. [SPEAKER_01]: The first legion was really good at eliminating things the emperor didn't want anyone know about them in the custos. [SPEAKER_01]: We said all the way down. [SPEAKER_02]: This is a bigger thing on this because the space wolves were known as the emperor's assassins. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, but publicly. [SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, but I'm saying that. [SPEAKER_02]: But also they weren't going door to door grinding out killing people in the basement. [SPEAKER_02]: They went in and won a glorious war. [SPEAKER_02]: And that's it. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it still was glorious. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you put the beats on it. [SPEAKER_01]: You might be right. [SPEAKER_01]: I took it a little bit differently. [SPEAKER_01]: What I took it as is that the first legion fought wars and battles that no one knew were being fought or waged. [SPEAKER_01]: No one knew with the first leg. [SPEAKER_01]: The first legion. [SPEAKER_01]: It's why they would show up as skulls on them. [SPEAKER_01]: It's why they're also weird, right? [SPEAKER_01]: The sixth legion would do equally violent and horrible stuff, but there's a camera crew behind the correct. [SPEAKER_02]: That's what I'm saying. [SPEAKER_02]: They're the righteous wrath of the Emperor. [SPEAKER_02]: You're not doing something where you have to start questioning yourself because you're told the whole time. [SPEAKER_02]: You're doing the right thing, man. [SPEAKER_02]: And the public goes, [SPEAKER_01]: We need to go. [SPEAKER_01]: You rock it to a massive career. [SPEAKER_01]: I think a better example now that you're saying it to me is making sense that they really were they were just they were the poster child for why you agree with the in the imperium. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, it's a something like it's why you don't disagree with the imperium. [SPEAKER_01]: Like hey, man, you can have your own opinion, but the space will have might show up to tell you about it. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, that's what happened. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, Del Span was a system and you know, who survived the Dark Ages pretty well. [SPEAKER_01]: They were well, they were well equipped. [SPEAKER_01]: And after numerous attempts, the Emperor to get them to pacify the Emperor, told the Six Legion full of salt, launched the entire thing into it. [SPEAKER_01]: And they did, they, they went through and conquered the planet like in like a day and a half, mostly because the opposition was just poorly armed in burial guard up against a hundred thousand space wolves. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, they could have punched them to death. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, the only problem is that the space wolves at this moment, [SPEAKER_01]: didn't just take victory, like, oh, we defeated the military. [SPEAKER_01]: What happened next was just a wholesale slaughter of the population till the streets literally ran with blood because they decided to kill every single person on Delta. [SPEAKER_02]: Well, he, they were told to get rid of the opposition. [SPEAKER_01]: Objective achieved. [SPEAKER_01]: Thank you very much. [SPEAKER_01]: They did the exact same thing like less than a year later at Malorian. [SPEAKER_01]: Again, this was a plan that actually went, this one was worse for the people there because they were in rebellion against the Emperor, the Emperor. [SPEAKER_01]: They had joined Imperial Compliance, which the Space Wolves were not cool with. [SPEAKER_01]: So they went there and again, slaughtered almost the entire population, door to door. [SPEAKER_02]: No, but they're not doing this to scare people to be, they don't love combat for combat sake. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, they're not, they're not, they're not like lords. [SPEAKER_02]: They're not, they're not, they're not world leaders. [SPEAKER_02]: They're, they're not doing this just because they want to be awful. [SPEAKER_02]: They were told to do something and they're good at doing something. [SPEAKER_02]: They're not tech turn and nothing like the barking just about it. [SPEAKER_02]: But yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and a lot of it is because they had their loyal, the thing about the early space walls, and I say early, this will continue through into the horrors heresy. [SPEAKER_01]: They're insanely loyal to the, to the, to the, to the imperial. [SPEAKER_02]: I was just saying to this thing. [SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, but the imperial at the time, especially at the time, if you said something bad about the imperial, [SPEAKER_02]: or did something more appropriately about the imperium, you were doing something bad to the emperor. [SPEAKER_01]: Which is fair. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm just that that is exactly how it did. [SPEAKER_01]: And that you did right. [SPEAKER_01]: And so that's why they and they took that a front of the emperor very personal. [SPEAKER_02]: Well, in they, this continues for forever, even after they get leave in any time, there's an affront to the emperor, and that could be anything from a rebellion, maybe I'll talk about cowardice the minute, but like if you do something, they always, the wolves always take it too far. [SPEAKER_02]: They do. [SPEAKER_01]: But I'm just saying, actually speaking, you're taking it too far. [SPEAKER_01]: Let's laugh at this one a little bit. [SPEAKER_01]: So the space bulbs during the great crusade were effectively the commissars of the, whatever. [SPEAKER_01]: This is true. [SPEAKER_01]: This is true. [SPEAKER_01]: So we laugh about this one. [SPEAKER_01]: I've been in relief with this one. [SPEAKER_01]: The Space Wolves gained a reputation for executing Imperial Army officers and soldiers for showing cowardice, where they'd be, because remember, at this stage, they would all engage together. [SPEAKER_01]: The Space Marines would land, and the Imperial Army, because that's what it was, but the Navy and the Army roll, because the Legion was just the Marines. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, they would all land together. [SPEAKER_01]: And if in a fight, the space was detected or saw someone not being as brave as they wanted to be, they would hit him with a bolter to the head. [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, instantly. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, you had to also remember space was a freaking crazy. [SPEAKER_02]: We will go to this a lot. [SPEAKER_02]: There's a lot of them rain chapters that don't like working with the with the woes because the woes don't pay attention any battle plans. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: And they you'll low swag and put any and I love it at this era. [SPEAKER_01]: If you were in a peril army, you did not want to be assigned with the space wolves because it was dangerous. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, because they want personal glory. [SPEAKER_02]: They're like, we could do this and take no casualties and it'll go perfect. [SPEAKER_01]: You're like, yeah, but no one's going to sing any songs about me. [SPEAKER_01]: That sounds stupid. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you know who's not going to cow yarn or muck, huh? [SPEAKER_02]: We're like, boo, yeah, right that went down. [SPEAKER_01]: Jesus. [SPEAKER_03]: But [SPEAKER_01]: Let's go to Fenris. [SPEAKER_01]: Let's go to Fenris. [SPEAKER_01]: And let's talk about Lehman Ross. [SPEAKER_01]: So this will be fun. [SPEAKER_01]: So Lehman, like every other primarque was teleported to a random world. [SPEAKER_01]: Fenris is now is where he landed. [SPEAKER_01]: Fenris is the worst written thing of all the dumb planets that the GW has written. [SPEAKER_01]: This one's actually the dumbest. [SPEAKER_01]: But I'm gonna do it. [SPEAKER_01]: because we're doing this. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'm gonna let you talk about this because I'm gonna yellow on it afterward because you're gonna be happy about it. [SPEAKER_01]: It's the dumbest thing. [SPEAKER_01]: It's like when you read it, it's awesome. [SPEAKER_01]: Then you take a step back and go, wait, what? [SPEAKER_01]: So Fenris is a planet that orbits its sun in an oval pattern. [SPEAKER_01]: So they call it in a little bit. [SPEAKER_01]: Wild, slingshot. [SPEAKER_01]: I actually don't know how this stuff works, but it's something we do have people who do, we have astrophysicist in our discord. [SPEAKER_01]: Tell me if that's even possible, I don't know. [SPEAKER_01]: But anyway. [SPEAKER_01]: As a result of this and just seeing what GW wrote, missing I agree with it, Fenris has this very long and brutal planet wide winter as the planet gets spends most of his time far away from a sun and then loops back around it. [SPEAKER_01]: And so they're year, which is about three, they're by way. [SPEAKER_01]: They wrote three to four terren years. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't, the one thing I do know that orbital patterns is that they're very consistent, but apparently not this one. [SPEAKER_01]: This one, some years the loop is three, it takes three years. [SPEAKER_01]: Some years the loop takes four years. [SPEAKER_01]: That's not how this works. [SPEAKER_01]: You're gonna get shut down on this when I can't wait. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, continue. [SPEAKER_01]: I'll take it, but anyway, but let's have fun with the dumbest part. [SPEAKER_01]: When Fenris gets back close to the sun, [SPEAKER_01]: This morphs the planet somehow, because the proximity to the sun first part makes sense. [SPEAKER_01]: It melts the ice in the snow. [SPEAKER_01]: The car is much the planet. [SPEAKER_01]: So massive floods all in Noah. [SPEAKER_01]: It creates a volcanic activity. [SPEAKER_01]: Because the core of the planet goes not being this close to the sun. [SPEAKER_01]: And during this time, and it pains me to say this out loud. [SPEAKER_01]: The land masses of the planet, along with the oceans of the planet, move and change and certain land masses are destroyed, new land masses arrive, creating not new islands, but new continents, which would kill everybody. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes. [SPEAKER_01]: This planet does in a month what it took the earth millions of years. [SPEAKER_01]: The amount of methane that would be released in doing this would completely remove any at all life instantly. [SPEAKER_01]: Also the flooding also know and know and also know. [SPEAKER_01]: But it's okay because the people who live on fenrits, they're a nomadic people. [SPEAKER_01]: And so when their entire planet [SPEAKER_01]: It starts to burn and churn. [SPEAKER_01]: They just pick up the old hobo sack and start wandering across the fine new land. [SPEAKER_01]: You know what this does create? [SPEAKER_01]: A bunch of people that beat the shit out of each other. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay. [SPEAKER_01]: What? [SPEAKER_01]: Cause they're running across fresh volcanic. [SPEAKER_02]: Look man, I'm just saying what it says in the stories. [SPEAKER_02]: They know it's so stupid. [SPEAKER_02]: It's so stupid. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, they in the stories. [SPEAKER_01]: Sometimes you get lucky and your landmasses untouched, which is good, because your landmasses untouched. [SPEAKER_01]: But it means everyone's gonna come attack your landmasses. [SPEAKER_01]: And you have to beat the crap out of them. [SPEAKER_01]: Or I just don't do it. [SPEAKER_01]: You're gonna lose your, it's gonna go somewhere else. [SPEAKER_01]: Also, where's the food coming from? [SPEAKER_01]: I gotta worry about such crap, man. [SPEAKER_01]: It's beat up a wolf. [SPEAKER_01]: Don't get me wrong. [SPEAKER_01]: Mount Elba, I make some very good, like, volcanic ash is really good for the soil. [SPEAKER_01]: But it's not really good for the soil three weeks after the lava settled. [SPEAKER_01]: It takes a minute. [SPEAKER_02]: And the best part about this is they come up with, yes, does this make any sense? [SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely not. [SPEAKER_02]: However, the lore and the traditions of how they go about things is wildly hardcore. [SPEAKER_01]: There is, but hold on, we're not done. [SPEAKER_01]: You're going to get a lift. [SPEAKER_01]: There's one more. [SPEAKER_01]: We have to talk with Asana. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, we don't know. [SPEAKER_01]: I was going to skip over this. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, we need it for the thing. [SPEAKER_01]: So I have to let's show apparently, while on it's weird ellipses, every single time it goes past the sun, the north pole of the planet leans away from the sun. [SPEAKER_01]: And so for this, this North Pole is called Asahim. [SPEAKER_01]: Asahim, ASA, H-I-N. [SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, Asahim is preserved. [SPEAKER_01]: Asahim, despite all the sea levels rising, like a thousand percent, does it affect them? [SPEAKER_01]: Despite the entire earth being covered in volcanic ash, doesn't affect the North Pole. [SPEAKER_01]: So anyway, this one area is spared it, but no one can go live there. [SPEAKER_01]: because this poll is filled with monsters. [SPEAKER_01]: Because what we forgot to mention earlier is that Fenris, like Calaban, is really close to the eye of terror. [SPEAKER_01]: Not they can see it close, but close. [SPEAKER_01]: The polls full of monsters. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Trolls, which don't come up in the story, ice worms sound cooler than they are. [SPEAKER_01]: And then red, I sorry, I mean, it's a trolls ice worms and then deer and bears. [SPEAKER_02]: That is true. [SPEAKER_02]: They put them in the same sentence. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's all the same sentence. [SPEAKER_01]: I had to look at twice it did you just list troll ice worm off an region wolves and then deer. [SPEAKER_01]: same deal probably the same amount of day. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, I'm laughing more because the sentence before it is its full of monsters and makes it unlivable. [SPEAKER_01]: because there's deer there. [SPEAKER_01]: Nope. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm in Michigan, Brad's in Ohio. [SPEAKER_01]: Do deer make it make your land unlivable? [SPEAKER_01]: That's so much. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, you can ruin a garden. [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, they make it unlivable, but they don't, because they just let them exist. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's all my point is it's like, it was just, it was a funny writing, I have to call it GW. [SPEAKER_01]: I thought they were like, oh, it's incredibly dangerous, hellscape of creatures of ice worms, trolls, frost giants, thin, reasian wolves, [SPEAKER_01]: Dear, like, where there are also squirrels we should watch out for? [SPEAKER_01]: Is there a danger of hamster invasion? [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, the one from my sage might be. [SPEAKER_01]: That's true. [SPEAKER_01]: So anyway, the people of Fenras are stuck on this ever-changing, like, rest of the planet. [SPEAKER_01]: So, let's do the worst knockoff of the story of Romulus and Remus that ever hurt. [SPEAKER_02]: So we don't have the brothers now. [SPEAKER_02]: Leave and show up on Fenrus, like a comet. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: And it's found not by the local population, but by a wolf. [SPEAKER_02]: Thunder wolf specifically. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Thunder wolf. [SPEAKER_01]: Who raised him as a cub? [SPEAKER_01]: Because he's awesome. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: And so Lehman thinks he's a wolf. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm not kidding about this guys. [SPEAKER_01]: He thought he was a wolf. [SPEAKER_01]: I can kind of show that to people. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's enough me cropping on Lehman, Bradigan, Mademy. [SPEAKER_01]: Now we're getting next to the fun part. [SPEAKER_00]: We'll be right back after a quick break. [SPEAKER_01]: So this is where the story still makes no sense, but it's actually enjoyable. [SPEAKER_01]: So fast forward a couple of years. [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if this is years like we actually don't tell this because I don't know if he's like a child at this point in time or whether he's older at this point. [SPEAKER_01]: I think you can tell by the story. [SPEAKER_01]: He's a little bit older at this. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, but like he's easy. [SPEAKER_02]: He's still. [SPEAKER_02]: He's big. [SPEAKER_02]: No, he's big. [SPEAKER_02]: Well, but all the primary, actually, to become big quickly. [SPEAKER_01]: I think, I mean, I think, honestly, this is why I laughed at the story so much. [SPEAKER_01]: I think he lived through multiple cycles of the ice and fire. [SPEAKER_01]: I think at this point in the story, he's like late teens early, twenties. [SPEAKER_01]: I guess it it don't really stay because I if I'm mining I think you might be like thirteen though maybe give a member of the primers get super huge they do but it's just it's because of when he what happens next why I said it's possible yeah when they've got a folded him in but anyway he's out with his [SPEAKER_01]: mother and brothers who are a pack of wolves and a bunch of hunters circle them and kill his mother and his two brothers and then Lehman kills over he doesn't of them with his bare hands. [SPEAKER_01]: He's just a naked guy. [SPEAKER_01]: In the whole time they're shooting him. [SPEAKER_01]: Has something happened with primarx a lot? [SPEAKER_01]: Like you can shoot a primarx. [SPEAKER_01]: It just doesn't bother them. [SPEAKER_01]: They're mongo. [SPEAKER_01]: It's just going to make them more angry. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, he smokes fest these guys with, with, by the way, zero combat expertise. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, he just using his bare hands and pulling people's arms off them. [SPEAKER_01]: What I do like about this story though is they literally, they just shot him so many times that he made him tired. [SPEAKER_01]: That's what the story refers to. [SPEAKER_01]: He just got shot so many times that he began to tire and the hunters were able to jump on him and tie him up. [SPEAKER_01]: And they brought him back to see their king. [SPEAKER_01]: And the king, dude, was good. [SPEAKER_01]: Took one look at Leamon and went, yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: And this, this is, yeah, you're, you're with me now. [SPEAKER_01]: He'll be on a training program tomorrow. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, this is oh my god. [SPEAKER_01]: If you're the if you're a king in a land where it's all nomadic movement filled with combat having the warrior who's four times the size of anyone else on the planet and is faster smarter than yet we're gonna call that a win [SPEAKER_02]: Also, this is the best as someone that loves me in eighties montage. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, the next couple of stories go Lehman trained and learned the customs beliefs and everything master them immediately Yeah, and you're just like so he was just Rocky for it. [SPEAKER_01]: This is Rocky for Russia. [SPEAKER_01]: He's he's Lehman is out there, but plus like like with a reading it's Sebastian also having a book in between push ups and yeah, and would jump [SPEAKER_02]: But I'm just like, that's all my thoughts ever go to this on this one, because he instantly becomes awesome. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it was funny though. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, he's like cutting down trees and just doing all this stuff. [SPEAKER_01]: Some of those stories get a little bit weird. [SPEAKER_01]: But, you know, what did separate Lehman from the other primarks though at this stage is his raw power? [SPEAKER_01]: I will still die on my hill of Rogel Dorne's the best fighter of all the primarks, but Lehman's probably the most like dumb strength of all of them. [SPEAKER_02]: He's, well, he's dumb strength, but he's fast to shit. [SPEAKER_01]: You want to say, of the group, Rollin' Strongest Man Competition, it's Lehman. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, well, it's we've been also in the fact that it's he's in a world strongest man competition, but he also covers some serious distance because there's like so many stories of him just not suffering at no one hits him. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, because he's so quick, but he's he's his super athlete, but I get he's just he's to be kind of a dumb ass. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, the one I want to point out to in the story because I would like to share it for a second. [SPEAKER_01]: One sort of, he was like, he was known for pulling entire trees out of the ground, which sounds awesome. [SPEAKER_01]: But this is a planet who's like entire surface recycles every four to five years. [SPEAKER_02]: He's, he's, he's like, he's pulling out these like super tiny people. [SPEAKER_02]: Yes, exactly. [SPEAKER_02]: So he's like, oh, yes. [SPEAKER_01]: Check out like, wow. [SPEAKER_01]: That's incredible. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, the tomato plan out. [SPEAKER_01]: He said, he's not really taking out the redwoods, so I'm getting at it. [SPEAKER_01]: I know when they were writing what they were getting at, but I'm going to be like, hey, hold on a second. [SPEAKER_01]: You just told me every tree on this planet is less than five years old. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm just not as impressed. [SPEAKER_01]: But he was strong. [SPEAKER_01]: I just wanted to just with one of those little gaps in the logic. [SPEAKER_01]: So eventually the king does die and Lehman takes over. [SPEAKER_01]: Obviously, another funny story of this one. [SPEAKER_01]: He takes over and all of Fenris is okay with it, but all of Fenris continues to fight with each other. [SPEAKER_02]: Yes, they know. [SPEAKER_02]: The thing is, is that space wolf culture and Fenrisian culture is brought about by personalities. [SPEAKER_02]: So you still have fans. [SPEAKER_02]: His stories were so outlandish, effectively. [SPEAKER_02]: that everybody went, I can't be that level. [SPEAKER_02]: Yes, he's the great wolf. [SPEAKER_02]: He's the overlord, but we're still going to do our thing because I still want my stories and I want to be great, but like, come on, like I can't do that. [SPEAKER_01]: That's why it's fine because in the stories, it says that when he ascended the throne, all of Fenris, you know, supported it. [SPEAKER_01]: But it's, it's was he ruling them, but they're all still independent. [SPEAKER_01]: I took it more to be like, all the tribes agree not to attack Lee. [SPEAKER_02]: I got it more than with it. [SPEAKER_02]: I got it. [SPEAKER_02]: I got the same ish thing, but I really think it's more that if he decided to say we're all going here, they would all go here. [SPEAKER_02]: Okay, I can see that. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, so it's more you can do your thing. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's like a city state's almost. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that would make sense. [SPEAKER_01]: Great. [SPEAKER_01]: He's just like if thinking of money Python, but just. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Obviously the next step is the Emperor shows up. [SPEAKER_02]: Which, if you don't think this is the funniest and funniest, emperor visit, you're just wrong. [SPEAKER_02]: I'm telling you right now, this is the best. [SPEAKER_01]: The emperor shows up, first off he should have disguised. [SPEAKER_01]: He is fifteen feet, so five meters for those of you who have a proper measurement system, over two tons. [SPEAKER_01]: But he put on a cloak. [SPEAKER_01]: No, I don't understand. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Those who haven't seen Thor Ragnarok, you should see that. [SPEAKER_01]: You'll get the reference I'm making instantly with that one. [SPEAKER_01]: And he's this cloak figure, but he uses his psychic aura so everyone on the planet, it's like this person's important. [SPEAKER_01]: He ends up eventually in front of Lehman, who is the king of the planet. [SPEAKER_01]: And the Emperor just walks up to him and says, I challenge you. [SPEAKER_02]: These are all old Norse god type. [SPEAKER_01]: This is so stupid. [SPEAKER_01]: It is super awesome to know it. [SPEAKER_01]: It's not, but it's funny is why I like it. [SPEAKER_01]: It's funny. [SPEAKER_01]: It shows up and says to Lehman, I am going to challenge you to a contest, a battle of whits, because it's a princess bride. [SPEAKER_01]: It's just princess. [SPEAKER_01]: The drinking. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, the drinking one. [SPEAKER_01]: It's princess Brian. [SPEAKER_01]: But the emperor says that if he wins, he gets to drink the right hand of Lehman at his table. [SPEAKER_01]: And Lehman says fine. [SPEAKER_01]: If I win, you have to go wander, fendrous alone. [SPEAKER_01]: And the emperor agrees. [SPEAKER_01]: And the story's just so dumb. [SPEAKER_01]: But the first challenge is an eating competition, which I really wish was was spicy food. [SPEAKER_01]: It would have been a much funnier story. [SPEAKER_02]: But anyway, the better part is if you found out that the Emperor's never ate anything except Stanford. [SPEAKER_01]: He's just a half dude. [SPEAKER_01]: He's just there like, I don't, I just do protein bars. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know what you guys are doing. [SPEAKER_01]: So you see what spicy die? [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: And so the Lehman just demolishes the Emperor in eating. [SPEAKER_01]: And he is a big roar in the halls everyone celebrates his victory. [SPEAKER_01]: The next one that Lehman does is challenge the Emperor to a drinking competition. [SPEAKER_01]: Whoever can drink the largest [SPEAKER_01]: hanker of meat, I assume, first and again, Lehman wins. [SPEAKER_01]: handedly. [SPEAKER_01]: And he's about to have the offer up his third challenge at which point the emperor gets pissed and begins mocking Leeman for lack of a better, better phrase saying that, you know, this is these aren't real competitions. [SPEAKER_01]: You're that you're nothing more than a loud bore who eats too much and drinks too much and is and yells too much. [SPEAKER_01]: This is, you know, you basically don't basically say you have no value. [SPEAKER_01]: Lehman gets obviously kind of pissed off about this and says fine and pulls his sword out. [SPEAKER_01]: And which is the point of a duel? [SPEAKER_01]: The Emperor stands upright. [SPEAKER_01]: Throws his clothes. [SPEAKER_01]: Don't forget that he throws the cloak off. [SPEAKER_01]: And turns out this whole time is been wearing his golden power armor. [SPEAKER_01]: No one noticed this by the way. [SPEAKER_01]: So I said earlier, [SPEAKER_01]: Three meters, fifteen feet. [SPEAKER_01]: No. [SPEAKER_02]: It's four meters. [SPEAKER_02]: It's also one of my favorites, is that this is the worst competition ever because the emperor rocks Lehman rust in the face with a power fist. [SPEAKER_02]: Lehman rust is holding a sword gets punch like this. [SPEAKER_02]: It's so wearing a fur. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: He's wearing fur. [SPEAKER_01]: He gets punched in the face by the most powerful being in the galaxy. [SPEAKER_01]: using his own special weapon for punching things in faces. [SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, Lehman doesn't win this fight. [SPEAKER_01]: But he gets up says this was awesome. [SPEAKER_01]: You're now the boss. [SPEAKER_01]: Let's do this. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and declare isn't guilty. [SPEAKER_01]: The empowering goes. [SPEAKER_02]: Also worst fight of all time. [SPEAKER_02]: You're like, Hey, a guy wearing a wolf cloak. [SPEAKER_02]: This is a dude in power armor. [SPEAKER_01]: I might have had you might have had a nice, like, lens shirt on. [SPEAKER_01]: You have some of that. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, he got wrecked. [SPEAKER_01]: But for whatever reason in being wrecked, Lehman develops a incredible love of the Emperor outright. [SPEAKER_01]: And you know, all of the primarks, well, maybe not all of them, because Conrad, but most of the primarks had a inherent love of the Emperor. [SPEAKER_01]: So that I do believe it's also not hang around. [SPEAKER_01]: But what I'm running more tarry in both had an initial thing, they just felt betrayed by it. [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, because anger on ones. [SPEAKER_01]: Whereas, I think Conrad ever liked them. [SPEAKER_01]: He's always casing. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: So let's talk about the rise of what I call the rise of the sixth legion. [SPEAKER_01]: So obviously, Lehman being added to the sixth legion makes things better. [SPEAKER_01]: And Fenrus is like the best recruiting world ever. [SPEAKER_02]: Well, also, we have to do that. [SPEAKER_02]: I know we say it every time we do this. [SPEAKER_02]: The primarx are psychically linked to their legions. [SPEAKER_02]: It's a win. [SPEAKER_02]: The primarx shows up for their legion. [SPEAKER_01]: It is a big deal for the legion. [SPEAKER_01]: I also want to bring us something up here that from what happens next is really important and it's unique in the lore. [SPEAKER_01]: So the Lehman had a ton of warriors with him. [SPEAKER_01]: already. [SPEAKER_01]: And he wants to bring them with him. [SPEAKER_01]: They're all way too old to become a space marine. [SPEAKER_01]: So they have to the goofy other process where they seem to always work so much better. [SPEAKER_01]: Sort of, but let's get into it. [SPEAKER_01]: So it works miraculously for these guys. [SPEAKER_01]: Like within Fenris, like almost none of these guys die in the conversion over. [SPEAKER_01]: However, one thing I want to point out is when we talk about this other stories, usually in other stories, the people who are part of what I would go the up converting. [SPEAKER_01]: more often than that become chaos, Luther, you know, co-bad and, I mean, it is, I'll give you the vast majority of the time this happens, those people end up being part of falling to chaos, not with the space wolves. [SPEAKER_02]: And it's weird because it wasn't Lehman's pure presence alone that did this, you know, or part of the gene seed itself. [SPEAKER_02]: So that's a big difference on that. [SPEAKER_01]: That's fair. [SPEAKER_01]: It's [SPEAKER_01]: I think it's a combo of both. [SPEAKER_01]: And we'll talk more about the chemists heelix later. [SPEAKER_01]: But it's just kind of a cool thing that these from the on-setty was obvious that then resians were special. [SPEAKER_01]: There was something. [SPEAKER_02]: There's stock was just live and doesn't. [SPEAKER_02]: take off immediately. [SPEAKER_02]: This is a cool story, but like he waits until he gets some of his people at then he stops. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it never says it in the in the lower anywhere, but it's kind of implied to me and it gets fixed a bit. [SPEAKER_01]: We'll get to later where I do think every legion there was animosity between the prime mark where the prime mark and the people in the planet he was on and the the Terrence who were brought there. [SPEAKER_01]: They don't bring it up with a space. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, it was except for one person. [SPEAKER_01]: But I do think that most likely probably was there, that there was a little bit of, this is why I think Lehman took his time to leave, where he went to bring more of his people with him to really instill his values amongst them all. [SPEAKER_02]: Because the, the Legion, one hundred percent falls in line. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, like hardcore with his ninety nine percent. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, the form of the former captain was. [SPEAKER_01]: He wasn't a problem, but he was obvious. [SPEAKER_01]: So let's dive in this though, once Lehman joins the emperor, they pick up right where they were the sixth Legion. [SPEAKER_01]: before now the space worlds were always fiercely loyal the emperor would do anything to protect him and his reputation. [SPEAKER_01]: And that continues even more so with doubles or more. [SPEAKER_02]: They get even crazier. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, you're right, because we're even more violent towards. [SPEAKER_02]: Well, I'm just saying, but also he drops in a drop of a hat. [SPEAKER_01]: It's go time. [SPEAKER_01]: Right, the only problem is that I'm more problem to no surprise the emperor exploits this and realizes that he can I think so what my opinion is that I think what you saw in a space walls current the six legion to space walls with this in kind of increased love and do anything for the emperor. [SPEAKER_01]: I think that was the emperor manipulating. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, and believe me just but most psychically powerful person in the galaxy and he's ultra genius, but the emperor [SPEAKER_01]: and a death horrible and the emperor needed this though because the problem he had was as the great crusade was expanding they're hitting tougher and tougher opposition and they needed someone who would just go to war in the most violent ways possible with no fear [SPEAKER_01]: And this kind of came that I had. [SPEAKER_02]: And as much as I love the wolves, they were not strangers to collateral damage. [SPEAKER_01]: No. [SPEAKER_01]: So they realized that a certain point, the best place to put the wolves is into head on conflict, which is not great for your casualty numbers. [SPEAKER_01]: They were awesome at it though. [SPEAKER_01]: They were right away. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, I mean, it's also in the sense that they would take high casualties. [SPEAKER_01]: Keep winning and win. [SPEAKER_02]: W's bro, just win, baby. [SPEAKER_01]: It's just a W. [SPEAKER_02]: This is, I don't want to hear those silly numbers like casualties. [SPEAKER_02]: Did you win? [SPEAKER_02]: Yes, no. [SPEAKER_02]: I checked the yes box. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, let's talk about the wheel of fire campaign. [SPEAKER_01]: There is on the, it's always in the right side of the galaxy, because we're else with a big. [SPEAKER_01]: The right side of the galaxy is just awful. [SPEAKER_01]: It's a bad neighborhood. [SPEAKER_01]: But the, the whole issue with wheel of fire campaign is that there's an workout price. [SPEAKER_02]: They don't say if it's a wall or if it's a bunch of what I got from this story though, it was multiple mini loss. [SPEAKER_01]: Maybe. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, but it was like they were just fighting all over the place. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: This was big. [SPEAKER_01]: And so the space walls got sent out there to put this down. [SPEAKER_01]: And this was the first, this was the first major engagement the space walls went into as an entire. [SPEAKER_02]: This is also when people got to first really understand my boy Lehman. [SPEAKER_02]: not real big on planning. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, the issue, this ends up being, it is a success. [SPEAKER_01]: And, all right, so think about what works is. [SPEAKER_01]: You need to just, when an organization is this bad, what you do is you go out there, you don't just like defeat the orcs, you have to eliminate any just a smoke show or something left. [SPEAKER_01]: And the space walls are not with the tactical geniuses of the space marines. [SPEAKER_01]: They're more the like hit thing with sharp thing. [SPEAKER_01]: Even if it means running out of cover and straight into the enemy line while yelling, [SPEAKER_02]: I think you meant to say, sixty percent of the time works every time. [SPEAKER_01]: That seems to be their mantra of battle. [SPEAKER_01]: It's not the problem is that they literally did the exact same strategy that the orcs use. [SPEAKER_02]: So tactical brilliance got it. [SPEAKER_01]: And the orcs are bigger, meaner, green, and there's a lot more of them. [SPEAKER_01]: So this war ends up on the plus side being a benefit. [SPEAKER_01]: The Terran-born dies gets smooth. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, the space wolves succeed. [SPEAKER_01]: And eventually, do put down the rebellion. [SPEAKER_01]: But over ninety percent of the Terran-born space wolves are dead, including their former captain, who just, I mean, we were handing it to it earlier. [SPEAKER_01]: He handed his reins over to Lehman with no objection, but it was very obvious he wasn't happy about it. [SPEAKER_01]: So, anyway, problem solved, because all the finriazians want all the majority of them survived. [SPEAKER_01]: This allows the space wolves to convert themselves into a kind of almost new chapter. [SPEAKER_01]: They get a born again. [SPEAKER_02]: Yes, and did he set that up? [SPEAKER_02]: Yes, because I think he's still as much as he does crazy shit. [SPEAKER_02]: He's counting. [SPEAKER_01]: He's still a primer. [SPEAKER_01]: That's a thing. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, the only primer I think of as not being counting is the guy who has nails shoved into his soul. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes. [SPEAKER_01]: Which probably makes it hard to think from time to time. [SPEAKER_02]: I had a good plan. [SPEAKER_02]: And then there was a nail in my head. [SPEAKER_01]: The Wheel of Fire campaign, though, does do a couple of things for the Space Wolves. [SPEAKER_01]: The first one is, in what we just discussed, it shifts the Legion. [SPEAKER_01]: The next one is it actually does prove them out. [SPEAKER_01]: This shows what the Space Wolves can do. [SPEAKER_01]: The Orcs have been a problem since the Great Crusade began. [SPEAKER_01]: The Space Wolves are the first ones to really show a significant victory against the Orcs. [SPEAKER_01]: But the third one, it is kind of random. [SPEAKER_01]: The Imperium builds the Fang for them, which is one of the more important parts, that's awesome, that other space will floor. [SPEAKER_01]: So, remember we mentioned before, Asahim, so the place, or Asim, whatever it is, the place in the north pole of Fenris, where there are monsters and deer. [SPEAKER_01]: Hello, the monsters. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, and dear. [SPEAKER_01]: There's also deer. [SPEAKER_01]: Lots of deer. [SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, white tail. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know. [SPEAKER_01]: So the Imperium as a as almost a thank you to the space wolves. [SPEAKER_01]: And probably more so because they realized you can't have a recruiting world and build it somewhere where like it burns down every three, four years. [SPEAKER_01]: So they were just going to build it in this spot and they build this fortress in ass time, which is [SPEAKER_02]: It's your way under selling it. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, let's let's let's let's let's let me get to you. [SPEAKER_02]: They didn't put a deck on the house, man. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: So this thing is impossible, kilometers wide. [SPEAKER_01]: It was built to run, not to rival. [SPEAKER_01]: It was built similarly to the Imperial Palace on Terra built in the Himalayan Mountains. [SPEAKER_01]: That's what they said. [SPEAKER_02]: That's what they said to outer space. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: It's, yeah, that's, it's greatest feature is that the Fang actually does, it crests, it goes all the way up out of the atmosphere. [SPEAKER_01]: So ships can dock. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: How big's your building? [SPEAKER_02]: Space ships dock with my building. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's big. [SPEAKER_02]: It doesn't play around, and also becomes pretty central lies to base everything they come to be. [SPEAKER_01]: All things, things. [SPEAKER_01]: Or everything comes now out of the thing. [SPEAKER_01]: So the thing becomes, it comes up a lot in the story's life. [SPEAKER_01]: The thing is amazing. [SPEAKER_01]: There's really cool descriptions of it. [SPEAKER_01]: There's some good artistic work around if you guys want to look it up. [SPEAKER_01]: The thing is amazing. [SPEAKER_01]: But the thing does is, only once you have this, [SPEAKER_01]: cause the space holds only recruit from one world. [SPEAKER_01]: They've maximized this world. [SPEAKER_01]: So the Fang allows for them to do all the recruitment and wants a space wolf as ready. [SPEAKER_01]: They just hop in the elevator and go to the top floor and they're on a spaceship. [SPEAKER_01]: Also allows them to deploy really quickly. [SPEAKER_01]: As you know, it looks good. [SPEAKER_01]: Let's talk about let's dive now a bit more into making of a space wolf. [SPEAKER_02]: Spaceship recruitment is awesome and it's also pretty hard core and a couple because they have the most hardcore. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's not very hard. [SPEAKER_01]: It is this is the space wolves. [SPEAKER_01]: When we talk about, you know, lore and things making sense, not making sense. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, the orbit of this planet makes no sense. [SPEAKER_01]: But if you're talking, if you're saying the space wolf [SPEAKER_01]: Space Marines are better and combat than the other space Marines. [SPEAKER_01]: It actually makes a lot of sense when you understand their recruitment process. [SPEAKER_01]: We'll be right back after a quick break. [SPEAKER_02]: can't. [SPEAKER_02]: They're not exactly taking the week part of literature. [SPEAKER_01]: As we've said before, every space marine, they have recruiting worlds. [SPEAKER_01]: It can be one, it can be multiple. [SPEAKER_01]: And they tend to kind of watch the local population, you know, like Imperial Fests, for example, I think they were out of Necromania. [SPEAKER_01]: They mostly recruit from the gang sector. [SPEAKER_01]: You know, who was really good at fighting and killing? [SPEAKER_01]: That's adorable. [SPEAKER_01]: The space wolves are pulling from a planet that is [SPEAKER_01]: constantly at war with itself. [SPEAKER_01]: They are pulling. [SPEAKER_01]: They're not pulling a kid or a gang who were able to, you know, be thieves and do some assassination. [SPEAKER_01]: They're pulling children warriors. [SPEAKER_01]: And again, they're all children. [SPEAKER_01]: Keep saying this children. [SPEAKER_02]: Hey, my scout sign at least now. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: The world that the space will send to me, I'll call the wolf priests. [SPEAKER_01]: The wolf priests are their closest relation would be a chaplain, but it's not there beyond a chaplain. [SPEAKER_01]: Because chaplains are in the rest of the space marines are meant to be the connection between the space maroon chapter and the emperor. [SPEAKER_01]: whereas the wolf priests are a connection between the space marines and the history of the space wolves. [SPEAKER_01]: It's a little bit off of the emperor, but it's really, it's a little bit different. [SPEAKER_02]: There's a big part about your space wolf. [SPEAKER_01]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_01]: So I just want to call out like, when I say they're a chaplain, it's not like, oh, they call their chaplain space wolf priests. [SPEAKER_01]: No, no, they're more than that. [SPEAKER_01]: one of the main jobs. [SPEAKER_02]: They're effectively chaplain slash scolds. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's a good way of it. [SPEAKER_02]: They're supposed to have the traditions of and they're pretty hardcore about it too. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yes. [SPEAKER_01]: This isn't like, yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: Hey, our traditions can be sometimes good, sometimes bad to like, no, these are the traditions. [SPEAKER_01]: These are our traditions. [SPEAKER_01]: They're a whole stop. [SPEAKER_01]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_01]: So let's go into this process. [SPEAKER_01]: So I like this. [SPEAKER_01]: So the wolf priests kind of wander around Fenris. [SPEAKER_02]: looking for recruits, possible to think people that show great promise. [SPEAKER_01]: Important piece here, everyone who lives in Fenris is aware of the space walls. [SPEAKER_01]: They don't interact with them. [SPEAKER_01]: They're actually more aware of them from stories. [SPEAKER_01]: And the stories are of, and it's written very well in the codexes, giant men, cloud and armor, just descending into the villages to take the greatest warriors with them. [SPEAKER_01]: And it's the greatest honor that could happen to you. [SPEAKER_01]: So when a, when a fend region sees one of these wolf priests, it's a moment of pride, because it's, it's, is, is, is, are my going to be given my chance. [SPEAKER_01]: This is, I, I have, my being chosen, am I being single as one of the greatest warriors? [SPEAKER_02]: It's also your opportunity to prove your greatness. [SPEAKER_01]: Exactly, but they also don't, that's a key thing. [SPEAKER_01]: They don't win. [SPEAKER_01]: There's wolf priests to arrive. [SPEAKER_01]: They don't just call out names and say, hey, get in the bus. [SPEAKER_01]: He calls out names for challenges. [SPEAKER_01]: It's the same challenges that Lehman put to the emperor, eating, drinking, fighting. [SPEAKER_01]: Sometimes it could be like, like, you know, [SPEAKER_01]: skill games of axe throwing. [SPEAKER_02]: They also they ask some questions so they they have to know have a basic knowledge of what it what it means to be fundraising. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: That is a big thing. [SPEAKER_02]: They know a lot of the stories. [SPEAKER_02]: They just ask them those type of questions. [SPEAKER_01]: What I love about this though is that they're not just taking your prior accomplishments and saying, oh good enough, they're using themselves because they're a known commodity and using themselves as a judgment against them. [SPEAKER_01]: You must fight me. [SPEAKER_01]: You must do a company, you must race me. [SPEAKER_01]: You must lift against me because I know how strong I am and I know how strong they're for you know how strong you have to be. [SPEAKER_01]: If they achieve all this, then the wars are taken back to the Fang. [SPEAKER_01]: And again, just like any of us basically, first bit of getting to the Fang again, push up contest, you know, running the usual basics of combat making sure that any aspirant does have, you know, the blah, blah, blah, gates of more Kai. [SPEAKER_01]: All right. [SPEAKER_01]: That's so fun. [SPEAKER_01]: The basement of the van. [SPEAKER_02]: Cool, cool, cool, running, jumping, skipping. [SPEAKER_02]: Gates the morgue. [SPEAKER_02]: Gates the morgue. [SPEAKER_01]: Gates the morgue. [SPEAKER_01]: I still know what the hell this thing is. [SPEAKER_01]: So in the basement of the van, there's something called the gates of morgue, which is a [SPEAKER_01]: portal to chaos, right? [SPEAKER_02]: Probably, it's a testing. [SPEAKER_02]: It's supposed to test your soul. [SPEAKER_01]: So what there is every aspirin has to stand in the gates and be tested by chaos. [SPEAKER_01]: They do this under the watchful eye of the room priests, which are the librarian. [SPEAKER_01]: Totally not psychers. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, the, although they are psychers, but they're good psychers. [SPEAKER_02]: No, they manipulate the elements. [SPEAKER_02]: Thank you very much. [SPEAKER_01]: That's right, I forgot about that. [SPEAKER_01]: They said maybe the elements. [SPEAKER_01]: If the adds a while they're there, the aspirin is going to be tempted by chaos. [SPEAKER_01]: If they give any semblance of an ingredient, they explode. [SPEAKER_01]: Because behind them is said, ruined with a boulder. [SPEAKER_01]: If they pass this test, they then move on to what's basically the crappier one, which is drinking up from the cup of the wolf. [SPEAKER_01]: where they get the first of their two doses of their gene seed. [SPEAKER_01]: Everyone else, by the way, the gene seed's in an organ and implanted, the space will just drink there as apparently. [SPEAKER_01]: It's awesome, it's so weird. [SPEAKER_01]: So also they have a name of their gene seed because it came in a few weeks. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, which does, all right, let me give it to the background as before we dive into what it does. [SPEAKER_01]: So this whole method comes actually from, we talked earlier and I skipped over a little bit. [SPEAKER_01]: When Lehman brought everyone uplifted all of his generals together, the first thing he made them all do was drink from a cup and it was the gene seed. [SPEAKER_01]: It is believed that if you drink the canus helix and you have any disloyal to your heart, it will change you and we'll turn you into something. [SPEAKER_01]: One of Lehman's actually closer, not closest but closer advisors, drank from it and uphuntering immediately attacked Lehman. [SPEAKER_01]: and he even killed him and it was shown because he was tempted by chaos and by drinking the canus helix it exposed that so your favorite your basis to this yes yes so between the gates of morky and canus helix in theory all no space wolf should ever fall to chaos which in the lore is true tabletop [SPEAKER_01]: I believe it was this power. [SPEAKER_01]: So, anyway, but the canus helix does a few things. [SPEAKER_01]: Some of them are cool, like makes you stronger, and your skin gets as tough as leather. [SPEAKER_01]: Why that would matter? [SPEAKER_01]: Don't know, but it does. [SPEAKER_01]: Others are super, super dumb. [SPEAKER_02]: You're in hand, sense of smell. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay. [SPEAKER_02]: Awesome. [SPEAKER_02]: Probably has nothing to do with your power hammer, but you also get in long-aided K-N-I-T, which just look cool in pictures. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I probably can, they can not pierce, but dent, plastic, you'll. [SPEAKER_02]: Also, it makes it look cool because all of my space wolves don't wear helmets because you wouldn't be able to see their sick teeth, their cool tats and their ponytails. [SPEAKER_01]: This is why all your space wolves get poisoned. [SPEAKER_02]: literally why? [SPEAKER_01]: The power armor apparently wasn't stopping it in the first place. [SPEAKER_01]: I think you actually fail more saves because of that. [SPEAKER_01]: It's just the dice. [SPEAKER_01]: No. [SPEAKER_01]: There's not one helmet in my entire space of farming. [SPEAKER_01]: Not one. [SPEAKER_01]: So, I begin. [SPEAKER_01]: They have long canines because they're biders. [SPEAKER_01]: Like they would shoot two warriors. [SPEAKER_01]: It's a what you do warrior. [SPEAKER_01]: So it was only one guy who opened his fender. [SPEAKER_01]: We learned later, though, that the gene seed does have an interesting problem. [SPEAKER_01]: When Corex, we said, enters the Emperor's lab and is going, he basically goes through all the Primark genes, because all catalogued there. [SPEAKER_01]: He saw that some of them had other things in his bones. [SPEAKER_01]: For whatever reason, the space wolves had a wolf put in them. [SPEAKER_01]: because somehow this will turn them into a wear wolf. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, wolf in. [SPEAKER_01]: It's known as the curse of the wolf and is it a curse or is it just awesome? [SPEAKER_01]: So after the first dose of the aspirin drinking this kick, this canus helix, they actually turn into a wolf in which if you know what wolf and looks like, Saber truth for the X-Men comics, I know or GW stole it from, it looks identical by the way. [SPEAKER_01]: They get a big mane around them, they get claws, they get super jacked. [SPEAKER_01]: The aspirin's intake in like thousands of kilometers into the wilds around the fang where there are ice worms, trolls, and deer. [SPEAKER_01]: Watch out for those deer. [SPEAKER_01]: They can be mean. [SPEAKER_01]: The aspirin has to do one thing and one thing only. [SPEAKER_01]: Get back to the fang. [SPEAKER_01]: Say, don't die. [SPEAKER_01]: Get back to the fang. [SPEAKER_01]: They in order to get back to the thing, they're going to have to fight off the deer. [SPEAKER_01]: They're going to have to find food. [SPEAKER_01]: So the deer works twice here. [SPEAKER_01]: They can fight off the deer than eat the deer. [SPEAKER_01]: So there's a win. [SPEAKER_02]: Well, it's a big deal in this though, because they also have to fight off the primal instincts. [SPEAKER_01]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_01]: And that's the one. [SPEAKER_02]: Which is the biggest part. [SPEAKER_01]: They have to show that they can control the the wolf and gene. [SPEAKER_01]: And if they arrive back at the Fang, this is where it's a little bit dark. [SPEAKER_02]: Also, let's back that up. [SPEAKER_02]: They're sent out with loincloth figure it out. [SPEAKER_01]: but they have a main of hair now. [SPEAKER_02]: I'm just saying, it's not like they gave them a pack. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, I just, I saw, was it X-Men origins? [SPEAKER_01]: What was I want to say for sure? [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, it was there. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, okay, that's all I want. [SPEAKER_01]: So they're out there. [SPEAKER_01]: The weird thing is when they get back to the thing, if they get back to the thing, then they're given a second dose, the canis helix, which in the stableizes the mutation, and stops them being wolfing anymore. [SPEAKER_01]: And then they go through the normal bits of organ implantation. [SPEAKER_01]: If you don't make it back, you just roam the wilds having to come to the mutation, except for the is it the thirteenth legion, thirteenth legion, which we'll cover more in the next cast. [SPEAKER_01]: Now, this is for people who don't play space wolves, you may have heard a phrase one time that says, there are no wolves on Fenrus. [SPEAKER_01]: The phrase comes from this. [SPEAKER_01]: So if they had quick moment to discuss the phrase, there are no wolves on Fenrus. [SPEAKER_01]: The comment was actually made by Magnus when discussing Fenrus, but then brought up even by the Emperor talking about it. [SPEAKER_01]: And I don't really know when to talk about it. [SPEAKER_01]: So we're just going to do it right now. [SPEAKER_01]: Fenrus [SPEAKER_01]: It turns out is actually a complete nightmare zone. [SPEAKER_01]: And the emperor knows about it. [SPEAKER_01]: It was originally settled by humans in the golden age of technology. [SPEAKER_01]: And then for whatever happened, everything after that moment was horrid. [SPEAKER_01]: Fenris is a, the, the reason Fenris is the way it is with like the lava storms and all that and all this garbage is it was a terraforming gone wrong. [SPEAKER_02]: That's basically had, oopsie, yeah, lines six of code did not work out. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah, it did completely failed. [SPEAKER_01]: This isn't even the worst part because the reason we talk about there are no wolves on Fenris is during, it's actually Lucas, the trickster's book. [SPEAKER_01]: We'll cover him on next cast. [SPEAKER_01]: They realize that all the thin-reusion wolves have human DNA in them. [SPEAKER_01]: Not because these are wolfen who felt the curse of the wolfen, [SPEAKER_01]: The wolves of Fenrus are actually humans who were genetically modified or genetically tested. [SPEAKER_01]: We don't know what happened. [SPEAKER_01]: We're then converted into wolves over time. [SPEAKER_01]: Was this evil? [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, yeah, it's double evil. [SPEAKER_01]: But the question, what we don't know is if it was intense, it was not purpose. [SPEAKER_01]: We don't know. [SPEAKER_01]: But when you hear the phrase, there are no wolves on Fenrus, that's what it means. [SPEAKER_01]: I just wanted for people who don't play space, we'll go into that. [SPEAKER_01]: So let's just couple quick notes on space will for a crewman that we went, oh my god, the wicks are quick hitters. [SPEAKER_01]: The space wolves, they use different terms for a lot of what are the same units. [SPEAKER_01]: So they don't call their new recruits, the fights or scouts are called blood clos. [SPEAKER_01]: They're, they're heavy weaponist teams. [SPEAKER_01]: They're like, they're cool. [SPEAKER_01]: And those are called long fangs. [SPEAKER_01]: That's because the stupid K-N-N-T we were just talking about, that the space wolves have actually grow your entire life. [SPEAKER_01]: So once you're old, [SPEAKER_01]: You actually have longer fangs. [SPEAKER_01]: You have to be old and experienced to be on their heavy weapon squad. [SPEAKER_01]: Justing. [SPEAKER_01]: They're jump-pack assault marines are called sky claws. [SPEAKER_01]: Their bikers are called swift claws. [SPEAKER_01]: Their tactical marines are called gray hunters because their army is gray. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm excited that their armor is gray. [SPEAKER_01]: Instead of terminators, they're the wolf guard. [SPEAKER_01]: Instead of captains, if it's wolf lords, they're just having terminators. [SPEAKER_01]: It's just people that have been elevated up. [SPEAKER_01]: I thought it was all terminators. [SPEAKER_01]: They have or the space was had terminators. [SPEAKER_02]: Space was have space with terminators, but they have wolf guard terminators, but they've also got wolf guard, which are the guy that you can put jump-ax on. [SPEAKER_01]: They have regular terminators, or they all will. [SPEAKER_02]: You have to be a wolf guard terminator. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, so you have to walk up, but you can be a wolf guard who is not a terminator. [SPEAKER_01]: Correct. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay. [SPEAKER_01]: Good enough. [SPEAKER_01]: You've also got some additional things, like the wookies at the wolf priests, the room priests, special dreadnots. [SPEAKER_01]: They actually have wolf and dreadnots, which are, oh my gosh, those are kind of incredibly badass. [SPEAKER_01]: And then the incredibly stupid cavalry. [SPEAKER_01]: They actually made a, okay, federal cavalry's awesome. [SPEAKER_01]: Just accept it. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay. [SPEAKER_01]: In theory, if a giant space marine, riding a giant wolf got into the enemy lines, [SPEAKER_02]: with a thunder hammer. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, carrying a thunder hammer, I am going to admit absolute bad news bears. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm just saying, hunter killer missiles exist. [SPEAKER_01]: They're not particularly fast. [SPEAKER_01]: It's still a wolf. [SPEAKER_01]: It does stuff. [SPEAKER_01]: Look, we have a good number of British listeners. [SPEAKER_01]: They're all aware of the charge of the light brigade. [SPEAKER_01]: Just saying, we've proven it out. [SPEAKER_01]: Time and time again in history. [SPEAKER_02]: Did they have storm shields? [SPEAKER_02]: Doesn't matter. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: Storm shields. [SPEAKER_02]: Storm shields. [SPEAKER_02]: Storm shields. [SPEAKER_02]: Okay. [SPEAKER_02]: For a fateful baby. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, on the guy holding the shield. [SPEAKER_02]: What about the wolf? [SPEAKER_02]: You just kind of lean into it. [SPEAKER_02]: Lean into it. [SPEAKER_01]: Lean forward. [SPEAKER_01]: We got this. [SPEAKER_01]: They're fine. [SPEAKER_01]: aesthetically, they look amazing. [SPEAKER_01]: It's the obvious, the space, the thunderwolf cavalry look so much better than the stupid atlan rough riders, so much better than gigantic. [SPEAKER_01]: They look super cool, but it's that moment that step back. [SPEAKER_01]: It doesn't, the dark angels have land speeders at the exact same thing. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Don't those fly? [SPEAKER_02]: Do they have guys with thunder hammers and shields riding giant wolves? [SPEAKER_02]: No. [SPEAKER_01]: No, the other, no, they have assault cannons. [SPEAKER_01]: Pasha. [SPEAKER_02]: Talk to the hand. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh. [SPEAKER_01]: So let's talk about Ross and his legion then. [SPEAKER_01]: As we said before, the Emperor takes Ross under his under his wing early and just showed a lot of favor towards Ross honestly. [SPEAKER_01]: Horus got the most, but Ross was not far beyond. [SPEAKER_01]: And deservedly so. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, he wasn't, and Ross wasn't like a teacher's pat. [SPEAKER_01]: He really did love the emperor and showed massive fealty to him. [SPEAKER_01]: So the emperor rewarded it back. [SPEAKER_02]: Also, leaving would throw down, if you would say some shit about the emperor. [SPEAKER_01]: That's true. [SPEAKER_02]: At a moment, and also did not care who it was or where it was. [SPEAKER_01]: In the emperor also liked that Lehman was an incredibly charismatic leader to his legion. [SPEAKER_01]: All, as Brad said, every primarke is psychically attached to his legion, but there was a different thing with Russ. [SPEAKER_01]: The space walls, and, can't really, none of them are betrayed him. [SPEAKER_01]: And every other story, there are, I guess, everybody, I can think of at least seven primarks, not all the more chaos, where at one point someone in their legion, question their authority, or question them. [SPEAKER_01]: There's no story I can think of with where it falls wrong. [SPEAKER_02]: They want them to be proud of them. [SPEAKER_02]: They want stories to be sung about them. [SPEAKER_01]: But I think that's the thing. [SPEAKER_01]: They also knew he loved them. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, that's the thing. [SPEAKER_02]: But he's also one of them. [SPEAKER_02]: That's the whole thing. [SPEAKER_02]: He's down doing like as crazy shit as the rest of the loser doing. [SPEAKER_02]: You're like, hey, what's my prom mark doing? [SPEAKER_02]: You're like, uh, that dude just did three backflips in the middle of the line. [SPEAKER_01]: It's more, where is Lehman? [SPEAKER_01]: He's up front. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: What's he doing? [SPEAKER_02]: Uh, I think he's actually hitting people with a mug of meat and his axe. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: He's like, what is he, is he drinking it sometimes? [SPEAKER_02]: It also is he singing songs about it? [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, he's currently constructing his own ballad about himself. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, if Lehman had a cell phone, he would have had a selfie stick. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, you would have to go pro-strap to him the whole time. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, the attaches. [SPEAKER_01]: After the battle, he makes everyone watch it over and over. [SPEAKER_02]: Are you currently narrating this battle while you fight it? [SPEAKER_02]: And then I decapitate what? [SPEAKER_01]: I firmly believe Lehman Russ would have loved go pro at go pro camera. [SPEAKER_01]: Then afterwards after the battle he just securs himself and his office to edit the video that makes it makes the entire Legion watch seven hours of which it also they would have been so doubted. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: They would have like were bringing the more bringing need were bringing meat. [SPEAKER_01]: This is the best state ever. [SPEAKER_01]: So the part I do like about this stuff is that in this story, as it talks about the Emperor, the really teaching rust tactics of that on all this stuff. [SPEAKER_01]: And I'm like, well, in this case, he wasn't the best teacher. [SPEAKER_01]: Because Lima's tactics changed zero percent this time. [SPEAKER_01]: They were, in fact, they may have actually gotten worse. [SPEAKER_02]: So there's some awesome boarding actions though. [SPEAKER_01]: Didn't look at there. [SPEAKER_01]: Look at that. [SPEAKER_01]: So the space wolves, you know, as a six, just like when they have a six legion were known for the ferocity in battle with Russ, this just ramped up. [SPEAKER_01]: They weren't like blood thirsty savages like roll leaders and night lords and they weren't cold blooded cows in the dark angels. [SPEAKER_01]: They were just this like spearhead that would launch itself in at things. [SPEAKER_01]: But it doesn't mean that the problem is that they would do this against overwhelming odds and the brides point, they'd come out with a W and so it was like this just emboldened them to do it more and more. [SPEAKER_01]: And my favorite example of this, we've talked about it for is that every other leaching, when doing space combat, fires boarding shuttles at the opposition. [SPEAKER_01]: And they wouldn't. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and that boarding shuttles would be, oh, yeah, it would pierce the armor, and then open, and you bunch of troops would jump out of an engaging combat. [SPEAKER_01]: At some point, who knows when? [SPEAKER_01]: This, I think my opinion, one space wolf did this and jumped out of a ship wearing Terminator armor with a chain fist and landed on the other ship cut a hole in the ship with his chain fist and then fought his way in. [SPEAKER_01]: The problem is that because he did that and every space wolf saw it and went, well, that's the most badass thing I've ever seen in my life. [SPEAKER_01]: Now they can't use boarding. [SPEAKER_01]: They can't use boarding ships. [SPEAKER_01]: Shoot terminators at space ships. [SPEAKER_01]: This is the only way space walls do this. [SPEAKER_01]: They really are human orcs. [SPEAKER_01]: Because it's just just no reason to do this. [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, I was absolutely not. [SPEAKER_01]: But I totally get why this space walls standpoint. [SPEAKER_01]: You're like, well, you know, you're in an Eric and Sean all cut their way in. [SPEAKER_01]: And then you're to the ground. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, if we just hop in this shuttle, we'll actually get there faster and we'll be further into the ship. [SPEAKER_01]: And he's looked at you like, right, but that's just the lamest thing I've ever heard. [SPEAKER_02]: Also, no one's writing a story about that. [SPEAKER_02]: Yes, then you now do it the Achilles of. [SPEAKER_02]: That's why no one will remember here. [SPEAKER_01]: Literally the space holes do everything the hard way. [SPEAKER_01]: The awesome way I think you're not to say. [SPEAKER_02]: Again, they also break into bands in this. [SPEAKER_02]: This is kind of weird because a lot of times they do boarding parties and stuff like that. [SPEAKER_02]: You get who your leader is. [SPEAKER_02]: You get a ragdener. [SPEAKER_02]: You get a keenish. [SPEAKER_02]: You get a whoever. [SPEAKER_02]: And those guys are looking for their own personal glory on it, which sometimes can run a file, but doesn't always end great. [SPEAKER_02]: So, but he's, you know, guys that are just wildly loyal, unbelievably, excited, boisterous, crazy. [SPEAKER_02]: But, basically, lucky in combat. [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, wildly, they must every single person has a rabbit's foot. [SPEAKER_01]: So, this actually creates a weird situation for Lehman with his brothers, because everyone expects his prowess, maybe at Lord Garber, who cares, but a lot of them had some pretty strong opinions on him. [SPEAKER_01]: Mostly because his bravado really bothered a lot of the other primaries. [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if the bravado bothered the other primaries as much as the fact that as much as I love the space was he ruins battle plans because he's always putting nanos. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, it's the issue is that the [SPEAKER_01]: Lehman also created a lot of just, like, conflict where there shouldn't be any, because he was just so into the emperor. [SPEAKER_01]: You know, the emperor, like, orders toast with raspberry jam and someone says, well, I actually straw a berry. [SPEAKER_01]: Russ might kill that person. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, like how dare you? [SPEAKER_01]: How dare you? [SPEAKER_01]: And so it's great for the emperor having a sentence attack. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, if the other primarxing was kind of grading. [SPEAKER_01]: And it just, [SPEAKER_02]: it begins to kind of come to a head because well it came to a head because you know who's not in battle for glory and it's not reckless and it's not boisterous and yelling all over the place and his legion [SPEAKER_01]: I will say the lion in the Lehman really did like each other. [SPEAKER_01]: In a sense of because it was a weird way. [SPEAKER_01]: They liked each other a lot but frequently opposite but related reasons. [SPEAKER_01]: Lehman liked the lion because man could the dark angels fight. [SPEAKER_01]: Man, the dark angels would engage in combat and they would just emerge victorious and Lehman respected that to the end of the earth and the lion himself could fight. [SPEAKER_01]: the lion thought leaving wasn't idiot in the way he fought, but also respected the fact that he was incredibly low to the emperor. [SPEAKER_01]: And he did put up WF and would win unwindable battles routinely. [SPEAKER_01]: So they both liked each other, but they all hated the other ones tactic. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, also the lion kind of hates. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, the line kind of hits everybody. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I'm just saying, even if there's recent work with it, what if there's his lead to the fall and goes, because lion was talking about how he's so lonely and like, I'd like one of my brothers to be and he's like, even the lion? [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's like, even though even the lion. [SPEAKER_02]: Sorry, even the wolf. [SPEAKER_02]: You're the wolf, yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: That's. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, he's not wrong. [SPEAKER_01]: It's like, oh, he's fun to have him around. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, he could, he could have a kill him and just doesn't want to. [SPEAKER_01]: They didn't get into the line and Lehman though. [SPEAKER_01]: The, the, the, the planet du-lan was an interesting one here and how this all kind of came to a head and there are two styles differentiated. [SPEAKER_01]: So du-lan refused imperial compliance. [SPEAKER_01]: Spanish. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, the space, so the, the space was a dark angle of a cent there with their primarx to convince them otherwise. [SPEAKER_01]: Once they get there, the space will get there first. [SPEAKER_01]: And, you know, Lehman walks up to the microphone and starts calling down to the planet, the planetary governor, whoever the planetary member at this point, and explained to him, I'm here, like it's time for you to be compliant. [SPEAKER_01]: And this planetary emperor decides to just shit talk Lehman. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it even puts on his boots of mind he asked. [SPEAKER_01]: That's about not immediately. [SPEAKER_01]: He mebleem and takes a verbal beating from this guy. [SPEAKER_01]: Like if you guys are all up there with steps was that like it was bad. [SPEAKER_01]: This was that he roasts that he roasts. [SPEAKER_02]: Which was not exactly the best thing to do because leaving decides that he's going to beat [SPEAKER_02]: everyone. [SPEAKER_01]: So Lehman, this point, steps away from the microphone, and the lion arrives on the same time, and the Lehman explains what they're going to do, and what they're going to do is kill every single thing on this planet and make this emperor on the planet watch it, and then to celebrate his plan goes and gets super drunk and has a big, a big festivity. [SPEAKER_01]: The lion just goes, this is objectively stupid. [SPEAKER_01]: These guys have no defenses. [SPEAKER_01]: What are we doing? [SPEAKER_01]: He just goes, I have stuff to do. [SPEAKER_01]: He just teleports down there. [SPEAKER_01]: Luckily, Lehman's aware of the Lyon teleported down, so he cuts off the festivities and shoots down there pretty quickly. [SPEAKER_01]: But not quick enough. [SPEAKER_01]: Lehman arrives just in time to see the Lyon chop the head off the hammer. [SPEAKER_01]: The Lyon is doing with the Lyon does best. [SPEAKER_01]: He's saying, well, if this guy's not here, if this guy's dead, [SPEAKER_01]: they'll be an imperial compliance. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm just going to kill this guy because I've got a lot of other places to get to and shit to do. [SPEAKER_01]: And Lehman is on the other side going, you just ruined like what was going to be like my go phone. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I hit record and I'm here and now I'm recording. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'm now with every recording me doing something awesome. [SPEAKER_01]: I recorded you doing something awesome. [SPEAKER_02]: It was an even awesome though because his story was he's going to be the shit in everyone. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's right. [SPEAKER_01]: The lion just, you're right. [SPEAKER_01]: This is a primarca decapitating a regular human being. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: It's not like this is much of a challenge. [SPEAKER_01]: So Lehman does what you should do in that situation. [SPEAKER_01]: It's super mad and punches him right in the face. [SPEAKER_01]: And two of them fight for a day for a day. [SPEAKER_01]: And it's weirdly says, I don't know what a fight means. [SPEAKER_01]: Are they just punching each other? [SPEAKER_02]: They were using, they clearly weren't using weapons though. [SPEAKER_02]: But they work as our at ends. [SPEAKER_02]: Well, at the end, they were using weapons because, well, this, this is my point. [SPEAKER_02]: It's, it's, it's weird because I think this is again why I say that leaving, leaving kind of loves the lion, but the lion semi hates the wolf because they get to the end of this day and rust just starts laughing. [SPEAKER_01]: I like this story and this story a lot because yeah, Russell of a sudden realizes this fight is stupid. [SPEAKER_01]: Why am I fighting with him? [SPEAKER_01]: This is hilarious. [SPEAKER_01]: They're just laughing at the stupidity of their fight at which point the lion takes this as he's laughing at him for not being able to defeat him. [SPEAKER_01]: and takes his power fist and knocks rust out for a day. [SPEAKER_01]: That's what happens when you're just sitting with no helmet. [SPEAKER_01]: Which by the way, makes, makes rust over two in power fists to the face. [SPEAKER_02]: It also makes them two and oh, and shaking off power fist to the face. [SPEAKER_01]: That's fair point. [SPEAKER_01]: That's a fair point. [SPEAKER_02]: Not a lot of people go, hey, man, would you get hit with a power fist right to my dome? [SPEAKER_02]: What happened? [SPEAKER_01]: Nothing. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and they do they make up later, but what I do love is that a key store that comes out of this is every single year. [SPEAKER_01]: For ten, for thousands of years. [SPEAKER_01]: Eight, the space wolves pick a champion and the dark angels pick a champion and they fight each other on the anniversary of this fight. [SPEAKER_01]: And it's never missed once. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, they've done it every year. [SPEAKER_01]: There have been a few times where this one fight has spilled over and do a larger conflict. [SPEAKER_01]: But [SPEAKER_01]: That being said, these two had nothing but respect for each other. [SPEAKER_01]: And we'll cover later, at the point where Russ actually gets saved by the lion later on when he's at, he's about to kill by Alpha Legion. [SPEAKER_01]: It's the lion who saves a lion's no joke. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, other lion's definitely no joke. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, he's people have me a viewpoints on him, I think. [SPEAKER_01]: But, and God, that first novel was so boring. [SPEAKER_01]: Ah, sorry. [SPEAKER_01]: Forest books cool. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, we'll be right back after a quick break. [SPEAKER_01]: Let's dive now into more Lehman, where some of his challenge are to come from. [SPEAKER_01]: The Emperor was never really much of a guiding light. [SPEAKER_01]: As much like a dictator, he talked to his kids, and Lehman's one of the worst examples of this. [SPEAKER_01]: The Emperor knew Lehman knew anything he was told with the figure, and so he used Lehman as an enforcer. [SPEAKER_01]: And this was, in a lot of ways, not good for Lehman, because [SPEAKER_01]: He would just use a cudgel for anything. [SPEAKER_02]: He didn't ask questions. [SPEAKER_02]: This is a big thing on this. [SPEAKER_02]: This is Lehman is so wildly loyal that the Emperor told me to do this. [SPEAKER_02]: Don't care. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm doing this. [SPEAKER_01]: And a lot of times what he would do it with, but became tanned and out the blood loss. [SPEAKER_01]: And a lot of times it was fine. [SPEAKER_02]: I'll give you that a little bit. [SPEAKER_02]: I want to give it. [SPEAKER_02]: I think it's more too much pride. [SPEAKER_02]: He definitely had that sin. [SPEAKER_01]: The bloodlust is the violence that they would that they would go into with the level of collateral damage and those. [SPEAKER_02]: That's I'm saying I think it's both. [SPEAKER_02]: because I think he goes into it with and because of him, you know, the Legion grows off of what the primary does. [SPEAKER_02]: He's so prideful of the fact that he is the one chosen to do these public. [SPEAKER_01]: I am the Emperor's assassin. [SPEAKER_01]: You know, yeah, my issue is that he just, he didn't know how to reign it in. [SPEAKER_01]: And he is there for some pretty public genocide. [SPEAKER_01]: And yeah, and let's go through, because I mean, there's the times, it's like, because there's times when this is good and there's time, this is bad. [SPEAKER_01]: The goods are like the final, the final ragdands, you know, side. [SPEAKER_01]: That was Lehman. [SPEAKER_01]: Um, that was, because you had to eliminate them. [SPEAKER_01]: There was actually after there was an enslaved outbreak that they actually, that that space will smoke check out. [SPEAKER_01]: There was this abhuman world of cartonists, the same thing. [SPEAKER_01]: These were, these are problem worlds. [SPEAKER_01]: We're effectively exterminados scenarios. [SPEAKER_01]: Lima, the Space Wolves. [SPEAKER_02]: It literally punched them to death. [SPEAKER_02]: That was my first literal thing. [SPEAKER_01]: But the flip side though is that when tact was required, he didn't know how to. [SPEAKER_01]: And one of the early ones, and probably from a lower history standpoint, one of the more important ones was agron. [SPEAKER_01]: Angron was implanting his legion with the butcher's nails. [SPEAKER_01]: And then they get a hopped up with butcher's nails and slaughter entire local populations. [SPEAKER_01]: Weird that they turned to corn. [SPEAKER_01]: The emperor tells Lehman to bring Angron back to terror. [SPEAKER_01]: This is over. [SPEAKER_01]: No more butcher's nails. [SPEAKER_01]: We're not doing it anymore. [SPEAKER_02]: Leave it shows up with full on diplomatic pants. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, he came down and he politely explained the situation in anger. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, let me see if the stage better. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh my God. [SPEAKER_01]: So, Angron has just finished just slaughtering a population and Lehman says, we're having a chat. [SPEAKER_01]: So, Angron is standing there with his entire legion, who are in this literally bathed in blood. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, dripping blood, their chainsawers are still smoking. [SPEAKER_01]: You know, and Lehman is looking at him. [SPEAKER_01]: And instead of like trying to talk this situation down, just immediately talks it up. [SPEAKER_01]: and tells him, you're coming with me. [SPEAKER_01]: We're going back to Tara, whether you want to or not. [SPEAKER_02]: This is again, a bad, I joked about what I said, an opportunity came down with his dimf in my pants, of course, but like, you have to give it the living because he goes so all in. [SPEAKER_02]: He's like, looks like two, six off suit, all in. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, come with me or I'll kill your whole legion [SPEAKER_02]: But he's standing in front of this region. [SPEAKER_01]: So no one knows who fired the first shot, but we actually don't know what happens next. [SPEAKER_01]: We just know that there was a conflict. [SPEAKER_01]: Angron never went back to Terra, but both legions had to take a little pause. [SPEAKER_01]: while they refilled their recruit pools. [SPEAKER_01]: It was, it's because it's been purged from imperial records. [SPEAKER_01]: We don't know exactly how bad the battle was, but we do know it was a quite the battle. [SPEAKER_01]: And yeah, both legions had to replenish afterwards. [SPEAKER_01]: Shit went down as long as it. [SPEAKER_01]: Why would you send Lehman to do this? [SPEAKER_01]: The next one that's that kind of dive into this is called the raising of full alia through alia, whatever. [SPEAKER_01]: So imperial fleet encounters what turns out to be elder and the hostilities of course happen instantly. [SPEAKER_01]: They call for support and the imperial fleet when they call in the space wolves come in. [SPEAKER_01]: This isn't Lehman, this is just space wolves. [SPEAKER_01]: But that'll begin and the space wolves gain the upper hand and it's obvious they're going to win. [SPEAKER_01]: So the Zenos begin to plead for terms. [SPEAKER_01]: Say, let us surrender, you know, whatever, yada, yada, and the Imperial officers, okay, say yes. [SPEAKER_01]: And their space wolves tell them shut up and proceed to thunder dome the world to the point where there is nothing left. [SPEAKER_01]: They couldn't even, the ad met couldn't even plunder the Zenos because there was nothing left. [SPEAKER_01]: They did the whole, do not resist. [SPEAKER_02]: We are saving you. [SPEAKER_01]: But what's crazy about it is in the events afterwards, the imperial officers present vowed to never call for support from the space wolves ever again, because they were actually bothered by the violence of the space wolves weren't acting. [SPEAKER_02]: They're also just using tactics that would just obliterate everybody around them. [SPEAKER_02]: If you weren't a Marine, you were just getting killed by the shit they were doing. [SPEAKER_01]: I think obviously this all culminates with the destruction of the thousand sons. [SPEAKER_01]: And I'm going to just quick from my back. [SPEAKER_01]: I kind of died back in that full story, but it has a reminder, the Emperor told Leeman to get Magnus and bring him to terror. [SPEAKER_01]: That's what he was told to do. [SPEAKER_01]: Horace, again, Lehman didn't know Horace turned the chaos. [SPEAKER_01]: Horace convinces Lehman that what the Emperor really wanted him to do was destroy the Legion. [SPEAKER_01]: And the whole Legion, and Lehman makes this call that, well, the Magnus did offend the Emperor. [SPEAKER_01]: So what else would a loyal servant of the Emperor do? [SPEAKER_02]: He was quickly convinced of that. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, that's what I also think he wanted to think that. [SPEAKER_01]: He does, if I want to, it's me, I think it's important is that when Lehman killed Magnus, because he did kill him, when he killed Magnus, Magnus was not with chaos. [SPEAKER_01]: Magnus had not turned until he gets back broken. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: But that's where that this whole thing is a little bit messed up. [SPEAKER_01]: It wasn't like, it was like, if Lehman, like, when Lehman went and stabbed Horace, it's like, yeah, fair enough, man. [SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean? [SPEAKER_01]: Like that, but we can't, Magnus had [SPEAKER_01]: He does something wrong, don't get me wrong, but not to Lehman. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, he also, there's a reason it's the sacking of prosperity. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: That wasn't much of a battle. [SPEAKER_01]: Now, this all becomes kind of a cool, I don't know. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, it's a plot of wicked. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I'll admit it right now. [SPEAKER_01]: Lehman changes. [SPEAKER_01]: So after the siege of Prospero, the space will fleet is in orbit recovering from the battle. [SPEAKER_01]: And they incurred a lot of losses. [SPEAKER_02]: They didn't take on the entire thousand. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, well, they had planned it too. [SPEAKER_01]: While they were in orbit, this massive alpha legion just shows up, which that's weird, why are you guys here? [SPEAKER_01]: And then they attacked. [SPEAKER_01]: And the space rules were not prepared for this. [SPEAKER_01]: They're fighting, but [SPEAKER_01]: they're already a damaged legion from their battle and they're like two to one, three to one outnumbered by Alpha Legion. [SPEAKER_02]: Because also, the Alpha Legion's are pretty, uh, a depth at choosing fights that they're going. [SPEAKER_01]: And so Lehman realizes that this is it. [SPEAKER_01]: He's probably he and his legion are about to die. [SPEAKER_01]: And so he does what all primarx do he goes and has a pity party. [SPEAKER_01]: Sorry guys, he does. [SPEAKER_01]: So, [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, and this is also, again, it's the plot of wicked. [SPEAKER_01]: He then starts thinking back on his old thing, which on a note of wicked, I haven't seen it. [SPEAKER_01]: I actually don't know the plot of wicked. [SPEAKER_01]: I know the plot of robot chicken. [SPEAKER_01]: They're third Star Wars episode. [SPEAKER_01]: The Empress falling down there. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, which is one of, I mean, if that's, that's what wicked is. [SPEAKER_01]: Also, my Rose, I'm, I'm quoting wicked. [SPEAKER_01]: I've never seen it, but that's awesome, and they reference it being in. [SPEAKER_01]: So while sulking, Bjorn, next episode, awesome. [SPEAKER_01]: Next episode, we'll do Bjorn next episode, walks in and they talk for a little bit. [SPEAKER_01]: And Lehman talks about just feeling bad about destroying all life on prosper and killing his brother, all the people that he's put to the blade for the emperor. [SPEAKER_01]: And he starts this realization that his legion, [SPEAKER_01]: They weren't warriors, they were butchers. [SPEAKER_02]: Well, this is a big thing for him because he thought that he was basically dishonoring in the entirety of his, the people that counted on him the most, the people that counted on him for guidance, for leadership, for an example. [SPEAKER_02]: And he felt that he was leading them, am I leading them astray? [SPEAKER_02]: Am I basically dishonoring? [SPEAKER_01]: But the whole thing, we are, the space rules are warriors. [SPEAKER_01]: That's what we are. [SPEAKER_01]: We are warriors. [SPEAKER_01]: And no, we were butchers. [SPEAKER_01]: Is that moment? [SPEAKER_01]: So, from this moment on, he, this kind of fills him with rage as he realizes this, and he decides to know, he is going to his legion is not going to be a puppet. [SPEAKER_01]: It's going to be independent. [SPEAKER_01]: It's going to be its own thing. [SPEAKER_01]: And he then takes the fight to the alpha legion, which by the way, we're still about to just beat their believing best side of him because they're out and we're also outnumbered. [SPEAKER_01]: But luckily the lion shows up in the dark. [SPEAKER_01]: It's also a space fight. [SPEAKER_01]: It's a space fight, yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, off legs and we're going to wreck him, luckily the dark angels show up and the alpha legion quickly retreat after realizing worry about the end. [SPEAKER_02]: They got left left. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, which is kind of funny because as much as the lions like in the middle back for me, if people are like, when the dark angels show up, people tend to just go, yeah, I was just joking. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I don't, I didn't want to fight this fight. [SPEAKER_01]: This, this, this one's going to hurt. [SPEAKER_01]: So [SPEAKER_01]: After the battle, though, Rust does, he changes himself, but also his legion. [SPEAKER_01]: They're not going to blindly follow. [SPEAKER_01]: They're going to lead. [SPEAKER_01]: And they're going to focus on things that make them great, glorious combat, heroism, destruction of their enemies. [SPEAKER_01]: But the big focus is their enemies, not just not the enemies of others. [SPEAKER_02]: Well, I think this is a big deal. [SPEAKER_02]: And I love how you put it in the D&D people. [SPEAKER_02]: And you went from chaotic nature to chaotic good. [SPEAKER_01]: And I think it's a big deal on this because what's that one thing is that the one thing the other way around what I what I what I'm what I'm saying he did is they were they were trying to be lawful good forever. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, they didn't have the ability and they finally moved over because there is a chance of change on first. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, the way that they feel they're about freedom and every they're just [SPEAKER_01]: But they didn't want to feel it. [SPEAKER_01]: That was their promise that they were when they were completely under the throws of the emperor. [SPEAKER_02]: They were trying to be, you know, but they were, they were restrained free spirits. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: And the biggest thing is, and this is one of the things about it is he wants to fight. [SPEAKER_02]: And this is one of one of the big reasons that they have these epic sockets because you're effectively, they're writing down everything that happened. [SPEAKER_02]: Obviously it's the drama. [SPEAKER_02]: But no, but it makes you be better because hey, we're recording your epic deeds. [SPEAKER_02]: If we don't record your deeds, it's because you're not worthy of these deeds. [SPEAKER_02]: But we will have that, the GoPro's on because we want to celebrate the greatness of what you did and your life and it shouldn't be, there should be nothing that you should do that you aren't willing to have this saga written about it. [SPEAKER_01]: What I like it with the shift over this and I think it is chaotic neutral chaotic good where they end up with the canica. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, but they move into things. [SPEAKER_02]: There's still collateral damage. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but that's what the chaotic is was right, but that's where and [SPEAKER_01]: What makes this different is, for example, like Lehman's not turning his back on the emperor. [SPEAKER_01]: But he's working for the emperor in the ways that makes sense for him. [SPEAKER_01]: So when Horace, when Lehman went to Horace's flagship to stab Horace with the spear, it wasn't because the emperor told him to, because in fact, he didn't. [SPEAKER_01]: This was Horace's idea. [SPEAKER_01]: This was Lehman's idea. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, he's wildly feels betrayed. [SPEAKER_02]: But also, I think he feels a lot of shame at this point in time, because he was so easy and manipulated [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but I'm going to mute it. [SPEAKER_01]: These are examples I like to use where Lehman begins doing things that are still on the best interests of the Imperium, but they're more so in his interest. [SPEAKER_01]: He's not just waging a war because someone told him to go to something. [SPEAKER_02]: They're also pretty heroic. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, yeah, these are being that story extra badass, but it's also spreads to his legion. [SPEAKER_01]: And it's not just that he then makes this shift, but the whole legion does. [SPEAKER_01]: And the legion's focus becomes one of [SPEAKER_01]: Are you, it depends the question, are you a hero? [SPEAKER_01]: And if the answer is no, then go fix it. [SPEAKER_01]: And that becomes it. [SPEAKER_01]: And you don't get to be. [SPEAKER_02]: That's what you're saying on the thing, because of the sockets. [SPEAKER_02]: I think the sockets make them have to be, you know, Arizona as far as are you proud of what you did. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: Like everything that you do has to be out in the light. [SPEAKER_01]: And I think where like the best way for me to kind of describe the space wolves view point of themselves is they're not trying to be, you know, another legion in the armies of the empire. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm trying to be the legion in the empire. [SPEAKER_01]: But they want is that when the citizenry of the Imperium sees gray and yellow, they rejoice because the heroes of the Imperium are here. [SPEAKER_01]: That becomes the focus of them. [SPEAKER_01]: And we see that flesh out. [SPEAKER_02]: And there's the closeness, the blood closeness. [SPEAKER_02]: They, they're trying to make their song as, but they're trying to make their song as in the light of again, being heroic. [SPEAKER_02]: Be it this great, the achievements that we've accomplished, not that we just killed people. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, exactly. [SPEAKER_01]: It then we are, we saved people. [SPEAKER_02]: Well, also, how, how did we win? [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: Was it, you know, a great battle was a Victoria? [SPEAKER_02]: Why, why did we do the things we did? [SPEAKER_02]: Again. [SPEAKER_01]: I think when we'll this is we're gonna break here and go before you're gonna neck into our next cast for next week, but I believe this is where you start to see this really flesh itself out in the heroes of them. [SPEAKER_01]: Beyond Ragnar. [SPEAKER_01]: Santa, whatever his name is. [SPEAKER_02]: Logan, Grimnar, Cainus, Lou, you know, Harold. [SPEAKER_02]: There's just so long line, Luke is the trickster of all these heroic, great, space wolf characters. [SPEAKER_02]: And I love the saga's because again, they have this whole, what, yeah, sure you won. [SPEAKER_02]: How did you go about? [SPEAKER_02]: How did that? [SPEAKER_02]: How did this win come about? [SPEAKER_01]: But what I see them as, and we're gonna next week, is where these guys, their focus is, is it's on protecting the people of the Imperium. [SPEAKER_01]: More so than, you know, some of the other legions, where it's, they've gotten past just the window in. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: The space rules were chalk up the W, period. [SPEAKER_01]: Now they are, it's still chalk up the W, but it's going to be the battles we want to fight against the enemies were interested in. [SPEAKER_02]: Well, they're still prideful, very prideful. [SPEAKER_02]: But they want to fight the battles that they think are worth fighting. [SPEAKER_01]: Yep. [SPEAKER_01]: Also, we promised everyone we'd talk about how Brad broke the space wolves. [SPEAKER_02]: And it's not my fault. [SPEAKER_02]: This is, I mean, it's a hundred percent my fault, but it wasn't my fault kind of. [SPEAKER_01]: It was entirely your fault. [SPEAKER_01]: This is, okay, let me explain what happened. [SPEAKER_01]: So for those who don't know, GW changes the rules of the game, not significantly, but they change the change values and some, and some small rules time to time within the game. [SPEAKER_01]: So as you, as you played the game, [SPEAKER_01]: multiple times a year, the game will shift a bit. [SPEAKER_01]: It's to create balance. [SPEAKER_01]: It's a really nice idea. [SPEAKER_01]: And what they do a lot of times is they'll take up a group of a faction that's not performing very well and they'll change their rules and their points, so they perform better. [SPEAKER_01]: Sometimes they do it really well. [SPEAKER_01]: Sometimes there's an oversight. [SPEAKER_02]: So I may or may not have found a loophole in the Space Wolves. [SPEAKER_02]: They gave away free work. [SPEAKER_02]: Word you're used to cost a lot of points. [SPEAKER_02]: We play a two thousand point game and everything costs X amount of points. [SPEAKER_02]: And they said, work year was free from rings. [SPEAKER_02]: And I found the rings that could take the most work year. [SPEAKER_02]: And I put every piece of war gear possible. [SPEAKER_01]: So most of these most armies can bring by the called Devastator Marines and they have a limit on what they can carry. [SPEAKER_01]: Space wolves have long thanks. [SPEAKER_02]: Well, they have the wolf guard is where I'm really broken. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, I'm going with the last cannons first. [SPEAKER_01]: And then we'll go into into your thunder hammer of just one hundred. [SPEAKER_02]: It's thunder hammer. [SPEAKER_02]: Come by Malta. [SPEAKER_02]: Every single go. [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_02]: So you [SPEAKER_02]: How many thunder hammers were there? [SPEAKER_02]: I thirty something and then I had twenty seven Meltoz and then the fifteen. [SPEAKER_02]: That was more than last cannons and then suppressors. [SPEAKER_02]: Are you Sam? [SPEAKER_02]: But the best part we figured it out is the Army would have cost eat hundred points and now cost me nineteen ninety five exactly. [SPEAKER_01]: And what happened was Brad not only did he discover this and take great joint and win events easily with it. [SPEAKER_01]: He also shared the list of people and this list became a terror globally within a couple of weeks. [SPEAKER_01]: winning numerous events being a completely almost impossible to defeat because the damage output was in place. [SPEAKER_02]: And it's smoke checks. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Responded by changing the points and rules on space was so much that they basically didn't exist for months. [SPEAKER_01]: It was a good time though. [SPEAKER_01]: That was for them. [SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, that was Brad breaking the space wolves. [SPEAKER_01]: So next week, we're going to dive more into the characters of the space wolves. [SPEAKER_01]: It's actually the best way to tell their lore. [SPEAKER_01]: So until then, this has been John Barsodium, Brad Jester. [SPEAKER_01]: See you next week. [UNKNOWN]: you
