For The Dads is for every guy who needs a place to talk, vent, and laugh about all the insane, hilarious, and chaotic sh** (sometimes literal) that comes with being a dad.

Hosted by Will Compton–NFL Vet, creator of Bussin' With the Boys, and proud dad of two. This show isn’t about expert advice and how fatherhood is the greatest thing on earth—it’s about embracing the love and suck of parenthood every day. From balancing work and family to battling the mental load, fears, and the moments that wreck you in the best way, we dive into it all with honesty, vulnerability, and a sense of humor. Cause at the end of the day... us dads have no idea what we're doing.

Alongside Will is his producer Sherman Young, a recently new father who’s currently deep in the trenches of Fatherhood and loving every minute of it. Together, they’ll break down everything that can go right and wrong (...usually wrong) when you bring tiny humans into this world.

Expect funny parenting stories, laughs, call-ins, advice, weekly themes, and the kind of conversations you’d have over a cold beer in the garage. Whether you’re raising teens or still Googling “how to install a car seat”, For the Dads is the ultimate podcast for dads who are in it, about to be in it, or just trying to do their best while screwing it up along the way.

00:11:11
Speaker 1: Yeah, Happy Mother's.

00:11:12

00:11:19
Speaker 3: Oh, Matt had to call his spirit.

00:11:21
Speaker 1: Matt had to call his parents to make sure this was a go. Because Matt toltal of his car a couple of weeks ago. It wasn't When I say totaled, its not near as bad as it sounds. The whole entire front bumper fell off because he accidentally rear ended somebody.

00:11:32
Speaker 3: He was he was not texting and driving.

00:11:35
Speaker 1: He just bumped them, but apparently he was looking for oncoming traffic and bumped somebody.

00:11:40
Speaker 3: Front bumper all the way off total.

00:11:42
Speaker 1: Of the car. He's been driving a rental. He's been looking and in the market for a new car. We found this new car on cars dot cars dot com, cars dot Com and in Arizona. There's a bit that started through Taylor to He's got to pick up a car in Arizona. And go eat it zips which has phenomenal wings shout out three wings to shout out your boy and.

00:12:04
Speaker 3: Shout out your boy.

00:12:05
Speaker 2: You can shout him out when he's on.

00:12:06
Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah, we can shout him out when he's on.

00:12:08
Speaker 1: But the deal is we will buy him the car, and all he has to do is the stipulation is he has to fly We fly him to Arizona, he has to pick up the car, he has to drive it all the way back. And he's got some side quests along the way, going through Texas, going through Albuquerque to where he's got to create content and essentially earn this free car that he's going to be getting.

00:12:32
Speaker 2: Oh yeah, gosh. He called my mom and wisher a happy Mother's Day and say, oh, also, can you let three of my coworkers sleep at your house?

00:12:41
Speaker 1: Yeah? Okay, yeah, yeah, yeah. He's gonna be stopping through him Mitch Ryan Olan, Yeah yeah, They're all gonna be going through. So you can follow those at bustin WTB socials, all busting with the boy stuff. I got some here I'd love to kick off please instead of saving it for the lesson of the week and at the end, since it's a it's a Mother's Day theme. I have some here that I would like to share for everybody, whether you are somebody with a mom, whether you're somebody without a mom, whether somebody or you're somebody that has your wife who is the mother of your children.

00:13:13
Speaker 3: This is a Mother's Day message from for the dads.

00:13:17
Speaker 1: Most of us. And again I'm writing from a spot to where we're going to be listening to videos that Deeke's mom sent in, Chef's mom sent insures mom sent in. Everybody knows that your boys cried on this podcast many of times talking about my mother could because my mother suddenly passed away four or five years ago, four or five years ago, Ruse four, so it was when Charle was pregnant. But this message here, most of us will never know when the last time was, the last time your mom sent you a message, the last time she called just to check in, the last time she said I love you before you rushed off the phone.

00:13:51
Speaker 3: You didn't market nobody ever does.

00:13:54
Speaker 1: For the dads who still have their mom, you're in the middle of those last times right now and you don't even know it. My boys, listen up here, Zach and Trey listen to this. Call her this week, not because there's something wrong, but because nothing is wrong. Drive over there for no reason, let her talk too long about something you don't care about, and actually listen to. Let her be proud of you out loud, even if it does embarrass you, because some of us would give everything we have for one more of those ordinary moments. Doesn't have to be a holiday. Don't wait for it to be a holiday. Don't wait for it to be a birthday. How about just a regular Tuesday or a Wednesday. As you're listening to this episode and while we're here, look at the mother of your children. She's doing the same thing for you, are for your kids that your mom did for you. The invisible work, the worry that never clocks out, the mental load we have no idea about or even how to solve. Sometimes the love she gives you and the kids that doesn't even need a reason. Don't wait for her to tell you she's running on empty. Let me see that again. Don't wait for her to tell you she's running on empty. See it before she has to say it. This Mother's Day weekend, don't you buy the flowers and call it done. Tell her specifically, what she means to your kids, what she means to you. Make her feel like the most important person in the room, because she is. Your kids are going to grow up and feel exactly about her the way you feel about your mom right now. Make sure she knows that. And for the dads who have lost their mom, you carry her and how you parent in the things you catch yourself saying to your kids that she used to say to you. You carry her in those fond memories and thoughts about her that your kids will never fully understand, but feel. She didn't leave, she just changed form. Love your mom like you already know the date, Love the mother of your children, like she's watching you become the man your mom wanted you to be. That is the message, oh that I would like to I wanted to kind of start with that versus I don't know how long people listen. I don't know if people listen for like forty five minutes and then don't finish the rest of the episode. I know there are a bunch of POPA Team sikos out there. But again, before we dive into all the mother stuff, I did want to I did want to share that because it's stuff like that. It's like, we know how precious life is and you truly, you legitimately never know. Yeah, So love your mom's voice. Call your mom's legit, call your mom your call your mom's.

00:16:17
Speaker 2: There were two things that we'll see in my mom interview or my mom's videos that I was embarrassed about. That were those not the first words out of my mouth when I came into the office. It was to Chef and Derek about something. We'll see it later in the pod. But you wrote so eloquently, you know, let your mom brag about you and be embarrassed by it.

00:16:41
Speaker 1: It's the worst, but that one, God damn it. Fellas enjoy it.

00:16:46
Speaker 3: Yeah that when there laughs, say mom, stop mom please.

00:16:53
Speaker 1: Then when you let her know that she's embarrassing you on the way out, just let her know that you love her.

00:16:58
Speaker 3: Well, I love you very much. You're a good man.

00:17:01
Speaker 1: I love you too. Bro, Hey, Fellas, call your mom call him s week that you a matter of fact, it's got to be put on their It's got to be put on their internship like action items.

00:17:10
Speaker 3: Make sure you call your mom. Get I brag about Zach really quick.

00:17:13
Speaker 2: Will his Mother's Day gift is that the one you're going That's what I'm going with. That's where you're going with.

00:17:20
Speaker 8: Text her this morning to see uh when she has availability Saturday, because obviously they're not open Sunday. But that's what we're doing.

00:17:27
Speaker 3: He got her a massage at the Four Seasons.

00:17:32
Speaker 9: And so if.

00:17:35
Speaker 2: Anybody's wondering if Zach loves his MoMA or not, he told us he was getting that chefing on. You flipped over.

00:17:43
Speaker 10: Yeah, dude, hell yeah, yeah.

00:17:46
Speaker 2: Thank you. That Jill's idea. Jill's idea, but I'll take it. We have maybe the best easiest segue of all time because we have some callbacks from last episode, and I thought that this would be a great one for our Mother's Day episode.

00:18:03
Speaker 1: I have one two. Autism Miller wrote in Oh good good, the boys are back there to Autism Miller, you'll have to watch them.

00:18:10
Speaker 6: You'll have to watch the ty because he was helping me cut calm okay kind of looked at it.

00:18:14
Speaker 2: I was like, I got a story for that. This guy's really autism kinda Kaida, He's a lighter off. Trevor uh oh Elitt. Trevor Ewleitt wrote in Hey, Brandon, don't do it you're gonna put a dent in that boy's head? What is that in reference to? You'll have to watch last episode. You have to check out last episode because I don't know what that's a reference to.

00:18:41
Speaker 6: We had a phone call about a gentleman who, uh, who had a piss missile and he was scared to have shockwave with his wonderful wife because she was pregnant.

00:18:50
Speaker 2: And so people are be careful. Trevor was giving them a hard time. Yeah, Brandon, you're fine, You're gonna be all good, be all good.

00:19:04
Speaker 1: I got one here from an autism miller. And again, if you're laughing yourself of you're thinking, what the hell are you saying? 00:20:22
Speaker 2: Joel Torpie five eight three zero Dad Extraordinaire says, taking notes of your wife's favorite meals is not a dad act.

00:20:43
Speaker 3: Dude, what a piece of shit.

00:20:45
Speaker 1: Imagine la him sitting next to one of his boys and he's like, what are you doing? 00:21:20
Speaker 1: Here's one from a Ted Casper on Spotify Love Spotify comments fellows d m V area Ptsico here and I physically winced at the Virginia side of d C.

00:21:31
Speaker 2: Whole conversation was hilarious though. Oh no, and he's a DC boy. Yeah, oh so it's not a thing.

00:21:37
Speaker 1: Did you guys? Are you guys familiar with Washington the district of Columbia? Tray says, no, been once.

00:21:51
Speaker 2: He's been. Well, apparently there's not a Maryland side.

00:21:54
Speaker 1: Are you Are you familiar like where it's at on the map, like over in Maryland Virginia area.

00:22:03
Speaker 3: Yeah, d m V our nation's capital.

00:22:07
Speaker 1: Would you say that we're at lands, similar to like Kansas City being on the side of Kansas and Missouri. Are you familiar that there's a side of Maryland in Virginia. Yeah, yeah, yeah, how about you.

00:22:20
Speaker 3: There's no wrong answer here.

00:22:23
Speaker 1: That's not true Maryland side in the Virginia side.

00:22:27
Speaker 8: I'm pretty sure it's fully in Virginia. I think I think just on a map. We've been trained from like where the little big stars.

00:22:37
Speaker 1: I'm with you, the way society has trained us, the way society has trained us.

00:22:42
Speaker 8: It's definitely that big circle, right you know you guys ever had like the place mats as little kids, with like the with like the map and stuff. Yeah, oh yeah, yeah that conditioned us as children.

00:22:56
Speaker 1: Well yeah, put the tinpole had on that bullshit, and social studies conditioned this.

00:23:03
Speaker 6: This side of the table would like to express that it is not a circle. It's a square. I would like everyone to know that he's wrong about the circle. It's a square square.

00:23:12
Speaker 2: Okay, So we're learning stuff right now, and my man said.

00:23:16
Speaker 1: It's it's fully in Virginia.

00:23:18
Speaker 2: Fully in Virginia. And they're trying to get you. He's trying to get you. I'm asking questions, asking questions. I will say this. I was thinking about it. Vatican City. Okay, if I'm on a phone call in Vatican City, Trey calls me up.

00:23:41
Speaker 3: He says, yo, sure, what are you doing.

00:23:43
Speaker 2: Where are you? Am I gonna tell him, Hey, I'm in Vatican City? Or am I going to be like, hey, I'm in Rome.

00:23:49
Speaker 3: Vatican it's a country, so Vatican.

00:23:51
Speaker 5: Yeah, if you walk into the Vatican, you're like, I'm in the Vatican.

00:23:56
Speaker 3: These dudes, man, you say.

00:23:58
Speaker 1: Whatever you want.

00:23:59
Speaker 3: I say whatever I want to say.

00:24:00
Speaker 1: What the distrect of Columbia, it's its own entity, and you're saying it's in Virginia.

00:24:08
Speaker 8: It's true, it's a true entity, but it might be encapsulated by Virginia.

00:24:13
Speaker 5: A good answer, isn't it Maryland? No, it's neither. Let's set the record.

00:24:20
Speaker 1: I was.

00:24:20
Speaker 5: I think I'm the only one that was right on this. It's an independent district.

00:24:23
Speaker 1: It is an independent district. But isn't it on the side of it We're pissing, We're pissing.

00:24:32
Speaker 6: Our boy does cross over the Potomac, but it like bridges the bank of the Potomac, and there's kind of some areas that kick into the Potomac. It is more of a square than a circle, Zach, So I apologize there, but it is. There is a part of it that is on the Virginia side that you can.

00:24:48
Speaker 2: See right here.

00:24:49
Speaker 1: So there is a Virginia side.

00:24:50
Speaker 2: I don't believe you were on the Virginia side. So so most important part to take away from this is essentially you were right. You were right.

00:24:59
Speaker 3: The there's a there's an argument there.

00:25:02
Speaker 1: Yeah, but you know, for all the Northeastern people like Ted Casper, he's he's againt, pitched off. No, we're talking about this. He's winning. He's wincing again right now.

00:25:12
Speaker 2: Hopefully Stephen G twenty is on our side. This was from Spotify. Please get some blue collar guys on here, but make sure that they're union workers because those guys.

00:25:23
Speaker 3: Have no filter.

00:25:25
Speaker 1: I think he's right about that, Stephen Geek shout out Stephen gee.

00:25:28
Speaker 3: Uh callback from last week? Ac still down Oh.

00:25:35
Speaker 2: Perfect in the upstairs where the kiddos are. Yeah that's great.

00:25:39
Speaker 3: Yeah, still hot and muggy upstairs.

00:25:43
Speaker 1: It's not good. And he's like, it needed some part that had to be ordered and delivered, which gets in I think today, yeah or yesterday maybe, Like hopefully it gets fixed today.

00:25:55
Speaker 5: Yeah.

00:25:56
Speaker 3: Well we've been without AC upstairs for.

00:25:59
Speaker 1: What week now?

00:26:00
Speaker 2: Yes, and upstairs is ideal because heat rises, so the heat's already going up there anyways, and then you just you let the heat kind of ruminate. That's perfect.

00:26:10
Speaker 1: We've been leaving Scott in it.

00:26:12
Speaker 2: Oh God, I got a condition. Yeah, she's forged in fire right now. She starts crying a little baby. Wait you cry? Oh, you want your binkie? Yeah, just give her the binkie. We go, no sleepsack, she's upstairs. We get the fan on her. Wait, you want your lama because I know you ain't hot.

00:26:27
Speaker 3: Yeah, this is how we had to learn.

00:26:31
Speaker 1: Rue. She taps out.

00:26:33
Speaker 3: She's got to go to the guest room downstairs.

00:26:35
Speaker 2: Summer's in Bontaire. You told me they would just have you go lay out in the driveway. Oh it's hot. Go see how hot the driveway is.

00:26:42
Speaker 1: Mom wouldn't let us put the thermostat under a certain degree. Like we had to get fans blaring all the time, small rooms sweating, and.

00:26:50
Speaker 2: Get the windows open. Get some air in here, get some air in here. Yeah, gotta keep the electric build down. Oh dude, that's all AC still out good? Yeah, stuff everybody.

00:27:00
Speaker 1: Good. Rue doesn't want to sleep upstairs. Good, oh God, struggles struggles at bedtime.

00:27:05
Speaker 10: Good.

00:27:06
Speaker 2: I will say this about Scotty. I'll brag about Scotty. She crushed it at the Clumps baby shower. Yeah, I saw you at the Clumps baby shower.

00:27:14
Speaker 3: Yeah, she's a great time. And again like.

00:27:18
Speaker 1: Not that Rue's not a warrior. Scotty just is a warrior. Does that make sense? Yeah, the parents out there with the four year old Scotty, she's an eighteen month old. She's a second born. She's got more grit to her, she's got more fearlessness. Don't give a attitude to her, Like you'll get done reading her stories. It should be get done in the bottle and what you kind of rock her and she's dozing, like I'll be putting her in the crib, kiss her on the forehead and you can you can sense the moisture on her forehead as we're putting her in the crib.

00:27:47
Speaker 2: And Scotty isn't talking like quite quite yet, but she like she's talking. Yeah, she's gathering some words that she pulled me aside at the baby shower. She told me a warrior doesn't need a weapon. A warrior is the weapon. Yeah, she told me.

00:28:01
Speaker 6: You know what she told me sharing, which is super weird that she had that one. She said that Rue is a farmer in a war and Scotti is a warrior in a farm.

00:28:08
Speaker 3: I don't know where she's getting this, bro.

00:28:10
Speaker 2: But Scotty said that she said that to me at the party.

00:28:13
Speaker 3: I was eating a cupcake Saturday night.

00:28:17
Speaker 1: Saturday night, I walked upstairs and she's sitting on the couch. God was looking everywhere in the house for and then I just go in her room and I just see her. She's just got the lamp on, sitting in the rocking chair. She's got the book open, and she just looks up and says that nobody's coming to save you. She said, yes, brod close the book, climbing the crow, put the baking about them one to sleep. She's like, I'll get the lights, all.

00:28:41
Speaker 2: Right, just get the lights on your way on that. Oh man. She well, and also, I don't know if this.

00:28:49
Speaker 5: Is uh the.

00:28:55
Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, look on the other end, she's our princess. Yeah, she's ru'st I'm obsessed with Rue. We're all obsessed with her.

00:29:02
Speaker 3: We love her, we love real.

00:29:04
Speaker 1: Rue caught some uh some hand foot mouth hand mouth foot hand foot mouth, hey, hey.

00:29:09
Speaker 2: Hey good good twice in one year.

00:29:12
Speaker 1: Yeah, twice we got uh. We had a tip from the school that it was kind of going around. We thought Rue was all good, and then all of a sudden, Sunday comes around. She wasn't feeling wells talks about her throat hurting, got a couple of those little uh like red dots in her throat. Yeah, and then she just starts. It's like tantrum after tantrum. She's hard to reel in. She's just she's tough, Bro, She's a feeler. She's our emotional one.

00:29:34
Speaker 2: Yeah.

00:29:34
Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, she's our emotional one. But hand foot mouth good again, it's like the end of the world when her feet kind of itch and she's just like, you know, and we can't really can't help you, Like there's nothing we can do. We could put the creams on, we could do this stuff. But Bro, I had to tell her this morning and when we were we were at breakfast because we're just not on fumes. But we're just like, Rue, come on, Bro, you've got to figure this shit out. I mean, Ruth's been draining us man joining us, like last night, what's so funny.

00:30:05
Speaker 2: I think it's funny. That's God figured the shit out? Did you not hear, Scottie? No one's coming to save you.

00:30:12
Speaker 1: Rue, Like yesterday, obviously we kept her home from school, babysitter canceled today, she doesn't want to get sick. Good, that's awesome, that's shark care. Yeah, so mom and I just got to figure it. And Mom and I we've been figuring it out. Rue last night, a lot of trouble going to sleep again. Feed it. She comes up with any different reason why she doesn't want to go to bed, And this is typical on a regular day, whether she wants to read more stories or just she comes up with something that she has to do before she gets in bed. So this just gives her a bunch of ammo to like stay up and not go to bed. Yeah, she's crying. She wants mom and dad a lay with me, all the things to where it's about eight thirty nine o'clock before we finally get downstairs, and then then she's making her way to where she's now starting to leave her room. She's figuring out she can open the door and come outside of her room, which I know is gonna be eventually. We're gonna have to nip that in the ass. Yeah, she'll come down and say I thought Mama was coming back up. And I'm sitting there on the couch like I don't even know what the conversations are with you, mom My. Mom is getting ready for bed right now. I'm sure she's gonna come up. But she says she was gonna come up. She turns around and go back, goes back upstairs. I just hear her start crying, and I'm just like, goly man, we have got to figure this shit out. Bro. Charle goes up there, calms her down. We're finally watching We're watching the show, by the way, Secret Millionaire, great show on Netflix right now. But we're getting ready for bed. Heru's like too hot, can't sleep, for the love of God, Gather all the stuff, Gather the sal machine, gather the you moved her, gathered all the stuffed animals, the pillow. We put her down in the guest bedroom on the first floor. Yeah, sleep in the big bed. Yeah, gotta essentially do. Mom's gotta do like a whole nother bedtime routine, laying with her I'm doing it. At first, she wants like a certain what.

00:32:02
Speaker 3: Did I have to go get yet?

00:32:04
Speaker 1: Last night? I can't even remember because I just feel so beaten down by just one after another after another with her in this. Then Mom's got to lay with her good. Then we're getting ready for bed. She comes in the room. We have to go back and kind of her Mom has to like soothe her to get back in bed. One in the morning, Bro, we finally came back. It's like midnight, and then one in the morning rolls around. I'm like dozing off, kind of in like that where I'm starting to dream a little bit, starting to hit maybe a little bit around where that light sleep. Then all of a sudden, a white flashing light comes on and I just hear a conversation. Charles thinks something's like, what's Waffle doing right now? She turns on the light. I kind of look around. Ruth's right there at the end of our bed. Ru's in our room at the end of the bed. I think I'm in a horror movie. I kind of like, I'm kind of startled. She's like she's crying because her feet and this and that, and it's just like for the love. I just look at my wife and I'm like, hey, do you mind if I just go sleep with They're like, I'm just gonna go sleep with her in that bed and then so we can just get some sleep. Great, good, let's go. As I'm walking, Hey, you've got to stop crying. You've got to stop crying. It's it's all you've done all day long.

00:33:17
Speaker 2: And le Scotty's out like a.

00:33:22
Speaker 1: She's just stolen her face down, just sleeping. I'm laying in bed with the room and I'm like, I'm trying to fall asleep. It's one p one thirty now, and Rue's just like you know, when you're trying to make it a point that something's wrong with you and you're not trying to fall asleep and you're trying to. Ru's trying to let me know she can't get comfortable, and she's just like moving her feet, like moving around, and I just, hey, Rue, stop moving. I haven't slept, Mom and Dada, we haven't slept yet, Like we haven't got to just wake up and we have to get up early and do all the things. I need you to lay there, stop moving so Dad, I can go to sleep.

00:34:01
Speaker 2: How did that did that go?

00:34:02
Speaker 1: She calmly just stops talking, freezes, doesn't do nothing. I'm laying there now. I can't go to sleep because I feel bad that I said that to her. And I'm like, I'm laying in bed. I'm like, hey, sweetheart, would you like to cuddle with dad? Dad? And she's like nods her head, yes, I roll over and cuddle. We finally go to sleep, wake up in the morning. Rue pissed the bed, yahy yeah, yes, yes, man, I'm in it. I thought I pissed the bed because I pissed it. I pissed the bed consistently until I was about fourteen years old. So at this point I don't even know who what the bed. He's in bed yeah, yeah, yeah, And then you know, morning time's a whole routine. The babysitter canceled, so it's just us trying to do all the things, figure all the things out.

00:34:48
Speaker 3: I can tell. My wife is like she's in it. All'm in whatever. We're all just in it.

00:34:53
Speaker 2: Ruth's throat hurt.

00:34:53
Speaker 3: She doesn't want to eat anything.

00:34:55
Speaker 1: Yeah, everything is too spicy going down or something like that. She's knowing that her throat's hurting. Yeah, and Oh but hey, like Scotty said, man, nobody's coming to say.

00:35:05
Speaker 2: Nobody's coming to save you. And Happy Mother's Day and happy.

00:35:11
Speaker 1: Yes yay, And dude, it's you know the parents out there, know, like when you're in these fucking pockets, bro, it's just you gotta I mean, you gotta be like Eli Manning final drive oh seven, you do defenders hanging on your back.

00:35:25
Speaker 3: You gotta deliver the football. Sometimes you're gonna have to catch it.

00:35:27
Speaker 2: On your head even when it looks like you are truly down, like you are down and out, you are tackled, there's no escape. You gotta Eli Manning stumble your way out of it, pass first and just chuck it downfield.

00:35:42
Speaker 1: Yeah, cause you get so in your own internal rage. No as a parent. Yeah. And then like as I'm in my internal rage and I leave, I give the wife a kiss. Do you do all the things that I'm thinking, like, all right, Charles in it as well? How can I like what things am I able to do to know? Like, look, we're just in the trenches. We're just gonna have to teamwork this day our way out of it, trying to get rue and I'm just trying to tell rue because she always does the hoot kiss three squeezes and I'm like, hey, you know, don't kiss that right now and wash your hands and then don't let the bedbugs bit. Go be great. And I'm like, hey, go be great today. Yeah, don't go be sad, Go be great. Because I had to have like a come to conversation. I'm like, I kind of I threw up my hands and hit and I'm like, well, we're trying to get her to eat her oatmeal and she wants some more bananas and the oatmeal, and she does this thing where she only she used only wanted to eat the bananas and doesn't. She skives the bananas, but don't eat the oatmeal. And she's talking about look at this, she's going after another good good And I'm like, hey, sweetheart, like I trust me. We've all been sick, we've all had rashes, we've all been itchy. It's not going away. I don't know what you want me to do. Nobody, nobody's gonna be able to help you right now. The rest of the day, gear up. You're gonna cry all day long because this is not going away. Today.

00:36:58
Speaker 3: What you're going through is not unique everybody's been through it.

00:37:01
Speaker 1: And I'm having like this, like you know, this moment with her, and I'm like, you're gonna have to figure it out like that. That's it. Like, I know it sucks. It's gonna suck all day long, but you can either like be kinder to people. Like all this whining it doesn't help anybody. Yeah, Mom's walking around stress, Dad ass stressed. Scottie, she just she's just hitting herself in the head. Yesterday, like as we're like relaxing and chilling and we're doing some scrub, we're doing some TV time, Scotty's just all over the place. Scotty goes to where she's just hitting Rue. She's hitting Dad Dad like she's in this hitting phase where I can't get we can't get her out of this hitting phase right now. And she thinks it's hilarious. And listen, parents, we don't laugh and smile while she's hitting. I know that's like a no no. My wife caught me a couple of times. She's like, hey, we can't like that, like eggs are on when you're like smiling. I'm like, dude, I can't help it, Like look at her. She goes up and she swims, dude, and well, I'll beg Scottie, stop hitting, and I'm like try not, trying to look at her, and she just goes over and was like like knowing that Scotty's gonna swing on her, and I'll just grab Scotty's arm like a movie like stopping some villain from swinging on the good guy.

00:38:11
Speaker 3: And I'm like grabbing her.

00:38:12
Speaker 1: I'm like gripping and I'm like, Scottie, we do not hit, looking at her just like this, and she's just looking at me, grinnin and thinks it's funny and then walks over to me to swing and grab her hand again. Scotty, we don't hit. We can't hit.

00:38:26
Speaker 2: Hey, time out, Compton House, time out? What the fuck is going on? Yeah? What's going on? Team time out? Bring it in.

00:38:37
Speaker 1: Yeah, we're gonna need to have one of those, like for real, like whiteboard and all whistle hanging for my neck.

00:38:45
Speaker 11: Bro.

00:38:45
Speaker 3: I got with the towel hanging off of her shorts.

00:38:49
Speaker 2: I gotta say, I'm Scotty, dude. Her resting face, like her neutral face, she's got comedic timing, dude, Like I think she knows that she's funny.

00:39:00
Speaker 3: With those with those that she does because one time I grabbed them.

00:39:03
Speaker 2: She just goes her little like smiles that she does too. When she looks out of the corner of her eye like she had there's there's stuff going on.

00:39:16
Speaker 3: She knows what's going on. Yeah, she crawled over.

00:39:20
Speaker 2: I was playing at their house, or Scarlett was playing with Scotty one day over at their house. We're in their playroom, and in their playroom, the door is like just four steps up of this little flight of stairs and it's just out of reach.

00:39:36
Speaker 3: Of Scotty, but like she can, she can get to it.

00:39:40
Speaker 2: And Waffle is on the other side of the door, just going ye, their bulldog. And we don't want Waffle in the playroom because she was already in the playroom and Will thought it was a little.

00:39:51
Speaker 3: Much, so Will kicks Waffle out.

00:39:53
Speaker 2: But Waffle's sitting there scratching, and Scotti is slowly making her way over to the door, and Will like twice, hey, Scotty, Hey, come back, what are you doing. And Scotty just the slowest turn the ball to like evil villain, look at you and smile crawls up the stairs against the door. Scotty do not open that door, and she literally like with her hand like kind of up on the doors, like turning and looking back at Will.

00:40:20
Speaker 3: She's just feeling hilarious. You'll just randomly hear Tiger give me Tigy back.

00:40:25
Speaker 1: And there, you know, rus like breaking down and now I just like turned my head and you just see Scotty like sprinting to the house like holding Tigy with the big smile on her face.

00:40:33
Speaker 2: Like god doing, Oh that's incredible. I got I have some chaos at home. Not my chaos is so quickly going to hit here the next week. We're moving on the fourteenth, good good, so stay stay tuned for that. Movers gonn't do it on the day that we originally planned and that my parents are flying in for good, so we moved move in day day early. So I'll go ask for additional time off from Jeremy because I told the wrong day to give me PTO on good. That'll be fun. I am, however, very excited. I'm looking forward to the movie. I'm actually very stoked on that. The other thing that's really fun, Scarlett is becoming an absolute menace within herself.

00:41:25
Speaker 3: She is beginning to stand.

00:41:27
Speaker 2: Now, she just she just figured out crawling, and she's kind of like, hey, I want to stip, like skip this crawling step. I really just kind of want to walk now. So we got some bruises on our forehead because we're feeling very confident on standing by herself. I came to wake her up this way, good, good good. I came to wake her up this morning, full on, just standing in her crib with her eyes just barely over the crib.

00:41:52
Speaker 3: Just how adorable is that, dude?

00:41:55
Speaker 5: Real? Surem? I got to throw in the pictures of I told Jill, I said, hey, my girlfriend really wants me to get a picture with Scarlet. And uh so Jill like, hands over Scarlet. Maybe the cutest photos ever. She started grabbing because I had the beard grown out. She started like grabbing the face and stuff. Just calm as could be, like she is. Scarlet might be the most well behaved toddler I've ever seen in my life.

00:42:20
Speaker 1: She's a sweetheart. When we were at the baby maybe you just give her a ball, Oh, just give her a ball.

00:42:25
Speaker 3: She's just beating the ball. She's smiling, having a good time.

00:42:28
Speaker 1: She does Scotty, you guys want to do a high five, and you know, Scotty's like walking over trying to give her high five, and Scarletes just doesn't know what's going on. She just keeps beating the ball. Scotty's like reaching and try and give her a high five. Scotty is like giving her like five seconds. That's it, like figuring out with these five seconds or the high five.

00:42:47
Speaker 2: Baby.

00:42:47
Speaker 1: Yeah, And now I'm trying to.

00:42:48
Speaker 3: Tell Scotty like, Scotty, she's just a baby.

00:42:49
Speaker 1: And then as I'm saying, and I'm like, I know, you're a baby too, and you don't even really get what I'm saying or understand what I'm saying.

00:42:55
Speaker 2: Scotty, Scotty, She's just a baby. Scotty just looks at you and goes.

00:42:59
Speaker 1: Don't know, gentle, and she'll get like close to my head and then tap it a gentle gentle and she'll reach back.

00:43:09
Speaker 2: Ah wait, wait, Scarlett's Scarlett is taking easy.

00:43:14
Speaker 5: Honest.

00:43:15
Speaker 2: I appreciate you saying that. She is a very sweet, very sweet girl. She loves new faces. Daycare has really helped with that. However, I got our first She didn't get in trouble, in trouble, but I got our first daycare. APR Report daycare APR report Scarlet has been stealing passes out of her classmates mouths and then putting the passy in her own mouth and crawling away from them and smiles as she does it. She knows what she's doing.

00:43:47
Speaker 1: Hell yeah, man, hell yeah.

00:43:49
Speaker 2: Great way to get him foot mouthed by, great way to get sick.

00:43:52
Speaker 3: And that's where it happens in the schools.

00:43:55
Speaker 2: Good. So then when she's kissing me, I'm like, oh, so then I'm kissing four others with this one. Yes, the way that you've been stealing passes. Yeah, edit, don't edit around that, or do edit around that, you know what I mean?

00:44:10
Speaker 3: If they clip.

00:44:13
Speaker 2: Sherman kiss infants four? Were you gonna say something?

00:44:20
Speaker 1: But I do like that.

00:44:20
Speaker 2: She's in a teeth touching phase.

00:44:22
Speaker 6: She cat had her for a second and Scarlett kept poking teeth.

00:44:26
Speaker 2: So she's just it's a mouth phase. Maybe with the passy it is a it's.

00:44:30
Speaker 1: A big mouthface just learning to touch and do all this stuff. Like Sky loves booping like that's right, worre scarlets heady like they're just fascinated with like just touching everything.

00:44:38
Speaker 3: Uh huh.

00:44:39
Speaker 2: And she's big on the Jill calls it the pincer, figuring out the pincer motion of like precisely picking things up. And so she's big on people's faces. She loves doing the pincer on your nose or on your chin and grabbing some hair right there.

00:44:56
Speaker 3: Yep, she's loving that. Developing with the food food, picking up your food.

00:45:00
Speaker 1: Bro.

00:45:00
Speaker 2: She destroyed some turkey and these little frozen little dat hack for you. They have these star shaped frozen pizza little dinner bites and you microwave it for like twenty seconds.

00:45:14
Speaker 3: She went to town on.

00:45:15
Speaker 2: That, grabbing the little cuts of turkey and the little cuts of the pizza bites.

00:45:20
Speaker 3: Yeah, she's eating eating, that's good.

00:45:23
Speaker 2: I'm just sitting there watching her. I wasn't even having to do a thing.

00:45:29
Speaker 1: I'm telling you, man, dinner time. That's a That is a crack of cold one of mine, My krack of cold one this week brought to us by always the greatest of all time, Ollipop. My crack a cold one is the peaceful sound of nothing ooh, while you're at the dinner table and just hearing eating take place. That might sound disgusting to some people out there. Yeah, but Charo, she made spaghetti the other night. Kids love pasta spaghetti. The sausage that's in there, were slicing it all up, and the kids we sat down and they're just eating away and it was just one of the best moments in recent memory. Just look over my wife and I'm like, hey, how about this. She's like, yes, nobody's arguing. Scotty's not screaming for berries, Rue's not asking questions, delaying, negotiating her way out of eating dinner. And it was h that's my cracker cole one, the beeatful sound of nothing at dinner time.

00:46:31
Speaker 2: I'll take another sip of this BlackBerry vanilla, which is honestly very good in raspberry Sherbert, Oh, come on, in accordance with your cracker cold one. I'm very lucky because my brother was four years older than me in school wise, he was four years older as well, so I got really good at monkey see Monkey do of like learning from someone four years ahead. You are also basically you're the exact same age as my brother. I think he's a month older than you, but you're four years ahead also with your kids. And I love being able to sit there and listen to you tell stories. Because in the back of my mind, dinner time is a battlefield. Like I know that dinner time is a battlefield. So everything that we're doing right now with Scarlet is in preparation of those Yeah, I'm not eating this.

00:47:29
Speaker 3: I want a cookie exactly.

00:47:31
Speaker 1: Man like it because it's like throwing us back, like when we have whether it's a curry or something that has a little bit of spice in it, because Rue hates spicy food now and it blows her mind because back when Ru was younger, she enjoyed anything you kind of put in front of her. Yeah, and she would just go to town on all this stuff to where we're trying to tell Rue, like, dude, you love tomatoes. You used to love tomatoes, like all of a sudden, now you just don't like tomatoes, or all of a sudden you don't like curry, or just it's a little bit of spice. We have a Mexican Monday and we're having tacos. Yeah, and it's too spicy or this, or like you know, if like a small hint of a green onion, anything green on something, it has to be like picked off.

00:48:13
Speaker 3: They're like, bro, what are we doing? That's what I'm saying I'm bring the team up.

00:48:17
Speaker 2: Yes, hey, bring the team up. Cal tea cal tea I But truly I look ahead to those situations. I'm like, I need to I need to stay locked in and keep the healthy habits going and keep the environment going so that when it gets to those times of my krackical one being a quiet meal where everybody's enjoying their food, that I can be locked in and ready to go for those like the battle of dinner time. Because we read comments too from other people. This isn't just your plight, like kids just don't want to eat. Some dad wins will be like my kid ate a slice of pizza, Yeah, and celebrate he buddy, we get it.

00:49:03
Speaker 1: Just then you learn like then there's like lapses as parents were you look at, okay, how much they eat throughout the day, and then you realize they might be snacking too much to where they don't eat their meals. So then you got to tighten up snack windows or just say hey, snack is for just this time and this time only, or it's an hour, thirty minutes, twenty minutes before dinner time, we're not eating, We're not eating anything else because you got to eat your dinner. Yeah, to where then you gotta throw a consequence in thereof like, okay, look you, I'll just tell Ruthe straight up, sweetheart, you don't have to eat your dinner. But everything else you're talking about you're too tired or she's just doing things to delay eating food. Yeah, it's like, hey, sweetheart, look, you don't have to eat dinner. You don't have to eat any dinner at all. Just know that there's no snacks after. Just know that there's no cookie on the other side. Whatever it is.

00:49:49
Speaker 3: That's like her TV.

00:49:50
Speaker 1: Yeah, no TV. If she's alluded to TV before dinner time, there's gonna be no TV. If she's alluding to being tired, Hey, look, we don't have to eat dinner. We can go upstairs right now and get you ready for bed. Yeah, we're not forcing you to eat dinner. We just know that this is You're gonna be cranky, you're gonna be tired, you're gonna be hungry eventually, and then when you are hungry, we're not gonna be able to help you because we have to stand firm and knowing that you know, if you're gonna eat, you gotta eat in this window to get them in that routine. So you'll be you'll be you'll be seeing these things like as they as they come about. Whenever she doesn't start eating dinner. Then it's almost like you have to audit yourself of like, Okay, how many snacks have they had throughout the afternoon or leading up to dinner to where I'm giving them too much leeway to argue with me at dinner time because I know I give them as many pouches or as many little snacks or what are they called, what are they called not not cereal pieces? Dad brain? Right now, dad brain puffs, puff puffs, puffs, little breakfast puffs. Yeah, whatever you whatever, parents feed snack wise. Yeah, it's like then you audit your you're auditing yourself to be like, all right, we gotta show down, we gotta shut down the window leading up to this, even if they're pissed off about not one to wait for dinner or they want the banana now or whatever it is. Yeah, they'll tighten up your ship.

00:51:06
Speaker 2: Little spoon puffs, dude, or such a dad hack by the way, for any dad's out there, Oh my god, and the little cereal puffs too, that little spoon makes shout out, no free shout out.

00:51:16
Speaker 3: Also final final dad hack on dinner time.

00:51:20
Speaker 2: Something that I remembered from my childhood that Jill and I have started doing a little bit is my mom would always have a rotation of CDs that she would play when she was cooking and the music would keep on. She would turn it down softly when we would then sit down to eat, and it was like.

00:51:39
Speaker 3: Dixie Chicks nor Jeon like that. Oh yeah, dude, have the mood.

00:51:46
Speaker 2: Yes, And we've started doing some soft jazz real like you know Alexa volume three. And sorry for any listeners if I just activated your life like with the.

00:51:56
Speaker 1: Dog digging the bell and their mouth starts salivating because they know it's dinner time. Yeah, and them in the if you've been getting this condition their brains. Yes, dude, it's something more as something more important on your phone right now? Will Okay, it's.

00:52:14
Speaker 2: She gave me.

00:52:14
Speaker 8: She gave me the exact time she wanted her massage.

00:52:17
Speaker 2: Okay, let's go, let's go.

00:52:21
Speaker 1: Oh, I got to hit him with the coaches.

00:52:23
Speaker 2: And it's about to say, as soon as I saw Sack on the phone, I can get that hack back to us. Yeah, it's bad hack repeat it back.

00:52:32
Speaker 1: I'm trying to hit them with a callback, conditioning our brains. I look over, I just see the bright screen going on Tuesday, some more important on your phone on this buddy, you don't have to do the smile on will space.

00:52:43
Speaker 2: I was like, no, it's like your mean teacher in high school and got to somebody chewing gum. You're just like, oh, here we fucking go. My my crack a cold one. I did the last spring class of for the golf coaching which I'm going to sign up for the summer classes that are coming up here like in June. But I was part.

00:53:10
Speaker 3: I was put into the twelve year old group.

00:53:12
Speaker 2: Dude. For any parents at home that have these preteens, Oh my god, it's just a whole other ballgame, dude. Like we're sitting here talking about Baba's and Banky's and nap times and hamfoot mouth. We got kid saying some the wildest shit of all time, where I'm like, Yo, this is the Internet age. Like these twelve year olds are built different. They know everything that's going.

00:53:41
Speaker 3: On in the world. Oh yeah, okay, Steve.

00:53:46
Speaker 2: Was doing six seven, Zach was doing six to seven.

00:53:48
Speaker 6: Zach.

00:53:49
Speaker 2: I got frame mocked by a twelve year old at this first tea.

00:53:53
Speaker 3: It was bad, dude.

00:53:55
Speaker 2: He had a junior set of clubs, and the junior set sometimes will like two clubs on one club, so it's like an in betweener. So I'll say two three iron, four five iron, five six iron, six seven iron.

00:54:11
Speaker 3: Okay, this kid, I'll make up a name for him.

00:54:15
Speaker 2: Brad was like Coach Sherman, Coach Sherman, should I hit my hybrid or my six seven iron? And I looked at Brad and I go, Brad, I think there's only one answer, dude. Go And he looks at me so disgusted and goes Coach Sherman. That's so immature, dude, and grabs the six seven iron out of his back. Does not lap at all at my six seven joke. I then overhear him with another kid, like thirty yards away, and this is like way later in the day, and he goes Coach Sherman, did the six seven mean to me? I told him that memes been dead for like months now.

00:54:56
Speaker 5: Oh they're brutal, shrem They're brutal, dude. I was telling you.

00:55:04
Speaker 3: About You're like the boomer phase.

00:55:07
Speaker 2: Yeah, dude, I'm unk. Now I'm officially hunk.

00:55:11
Speaker 3: You did this and he goes, oh god, he doesn't get it.

00:55:14
Speaker 2: No, he was like truly disgusted by It was like Coach Sherman's a really nice guy, like he needs to know that that behavior is like that's not good, Like what you just did is truly disgusting.

00:55:28
Speaker 3: Will These twelve year olds are different.

00:55:31
Speaker 5: They're mean, dude. I did after school program and there was a very nice girl I'll call her like Isabelle. One day it was like, hey, why do you have a gap in the middle of your teeth? This is like a fourth grader. I was like, I don't know, Isabelle why. She was like it was the right for Halloween and she was like Belle or like some proud I was like, why are you that princess and not like the cool one? And set off like in a big motion. She started like tear it up.

00:56:00
Speaker 2: It hurts.

00:56:00
Speaker 5: They're like, why do you.

00:56:02
Speaker 1: Why are you four to seven?

00:56:06
Speaker 2: Well, I'd probably gonna grow to be like six five, so it'll could be taller than you. And then you can't really say anything on that because it's you have to be proven so you're like, fat.

00:56:14
Speaker 3: Chance, But dude, they are hilarious.

00:56:19
Speaker 2: They're all sitting around. I'm trying to get.

00:56:21
Speaker 1: This all though, like yeah, yeah he mogged you, big boyd right there. It feels like he's putting you on game. He put me on game. He put me on game.

00:56:28
Speaker 2: Because they were all doing the scuba like the Scuba's like the new things was scuba ward.

00:56:36
Speaker 3: Well there's the camp ward, but then.

00:56:37
Speaker 2: There's scuba Yeah that's what and they go side to side with it, and then there's this other one where they're like doing this, bro, I don't even know. I stayed in my lane after the failed six to seven attempt because then they're they're talking about Minecraft and then this other new video game and coach Sherman, do you play video games? I'm like, I have a because I'm trying to keep a PG with them. I don't want to be like, yeah, I'm doing PUBG and Call of Duty. So I was like, oh, I do Mario Kart World with my wife on uh on switch to and they're like, oh Mario, yeah, Mario Kart World's yeah, that's cool. I'll get over with each other and probably start making fun of me for playing Mario Kart World and you're.

00:57:26
Speaker 1: Just in your head the rest of the round, driving home, looking at yourself in the mirror, no music on, just the sound of the road.

00:57:33
Speaker 2: This one, the only kid that's like being nice to me, is like the one kid that's not talking about all the memes and he's just talking about animal facts, being so sweet about it. But he's my only friend. He's like, you know, the North American Robin actually eats this because blah blah blah. Do you know that octopus has eight stomachs. I'm just in there. I'm like, yeah, dude, I think you need your wedge and not a putter. I don't know if you're on the green or not. He's like, oh yeah, yeah, getting his clubs. I'm just trying to keep them golfing.

00:58:00
Speaker 3: Yeah, trying to keep them golf the while trying to be cool. While trying to be cool.

00:58:04
Speaker 2: I tried to jump in on another conversation they were talking about.

00:58:07
Speaker 1: It's the button.

00:58:08
Speaker 2: You just start going, yeah you hit that, bro Co Surman up.

00:58:18
Speaker 5: Yeah.

00:58:18
Speaker 2: So I'm gonna stay in my lane with the twelve year olds next time. I'm learning is the good that's a good part.

00:58:25
Speaker 5: We talked about you like the all the like the clav and a lot of the modern means on Twitter. Me and Matt taught you then, have you not Have you not used any of that game?

00:58:34
Speaker 2: I did, okay for like the sake of the pod, Like I did have my unk moment, but there were some lanes where I.

00:58:42
Speaker 5: Like Cortisol Spike mentioned stuff like that, you'll probably get a couple kids be like.

00:58:48
Speaker 2: Oh, Mogging. Mogging and Aura were like talked about a lot. They were talking about thankfully, Jared plays Minecraft here.

00:59:00
Speaker 3: And like talks about Minecraft a lot.

00:59:02
Speaker 2: And I'd seen the Minecraft movie and I hit them with the Chicken Jockey because they were talking about the Minecraft movie and that got a laugh ye, And then they all started making up stories of like different stuff that happened in the theater with the chicken jockey, and like all of them were like obviously not true and it was hilarious.

00:59:20
Speaker 1: Next time, you just pull out like a little face hammer face Maxing or it looks Maxing.

00:59:27
Speaker 2: Just sitting off to the side of the Green co Truman, what are you doing? Uh looks Maxing Douglas.

00:59:32
Speaker 3: But you guys don't have one of you guys, Eve one you forget it at home.

00:59:36
Speaker 1: That's what you kids do now.

00:59:38
Speaker 2: And guys, a great tip is actually you use your putter for this too. Butters are great for this. But that was my crack, A cool one. I did have a lot of fun with those twelve year olds. Another great quote that we can cut around, Uh dad as.

00:59:58
Speaker 1: You have any dad acts, I am not. I got a dad win. I have a dad win on the weekend. My dad win on the weekend is uh getting the kids up on Sunday morning before mom woke up. Oh yeah, yeah, give mom a little extra sleep, get the kids up and rolling. I gave rue a mission on Sunday morning because the minute I came in the bedroom morning time, where's mama? Oh no, big pan, Dad's up in your room. Mama. I'm like, hey, sweetheart, we're letting mama sleep. Like she's still sleeping right now, but I have a mission for us. And she got her eyes get big, and I'm like, we're gonna let mama sleep. We're gonna sneak out of the house. We're gonna go get coffee. We're gonna get mama's favorite latte, one of mama's favorite lattes and we're gonna bring it back home because Mama said she was gonna do pancakes Sunday in the morning. She's oh yeah, and I'm like, but we gotta be quiet getting out of the house. Ru is ready. You give her a mission, She's ready to rock.

01:00:50
Speaker 2: We gotta we got them dressed good with the missions because you give for those. And she locks in.

01:00:55
Speaker 1: Yeah, she dials in to the point where you know, scott Zilla is being Scott' Zilla and might be a little loud, Like if we get downstairs.

01:01:01
Speaker 3: And we's like, Scottie, we gotta be quiet.

01:01:03
Speaker 1: We got to sneak out of the house. Mom's already like up in the back of the closet. I'm like, hey, I'm trying to keep the kids away. You're gonna go out and your coffee, resist my pancakes. You can get pancakes, rock and we'll come home.

01:01:12
Speaker 3: Uh huh.

01:01:13
Speaker 1: Keep them out for about twenty minutes.

01:01:14
Speaker 3: Uh huh.

01:01:16
Speaker 1: Came back.

01:01:16
Speaker 3: Had a great pancakes Sunday morning.

01:01:18
Speaker 1: But Dad win getting up before mom, getting the kids out of the house low the mom to kind of do her thing in the morning.

01:01:25
Speaker 3: God, I love that I have a dad loss here.

01:01:29
Speaker 1: It's here.

01:01:30
Speaker 2: Daniel Saboleuski Daniel Sableuski emailed us what's up boys, longtime petsico here and wanted to share a recent dad loss.

01:01:40
Speaker 3: Just this past week, I picked.

01:01:41
Speaker 2: My almost two year old daughter from the babysitter after work and was on a normal drive home. She has recently been a whiner in the car, so when it was a quiet ride home, I didn't want to question it, nor did I want to turn around and make eye contact or remind her she was quiet and not whining. Big mistake. Ten minutes into thirty into my thirty minute drive home, I hear her lips smacking. I turn around wondering what she was doing, and I found out that there was a piece of chocolate left in the cup holder in the car seat. Good. My sweet little angel decided not only to eat the chocolate, but it was slightly melted, so it went everywhere. Good good chocolate smeared all over her face and hair, Good in every crevice of the car seat and clothes too. Good. Worst part was I couldn't even be mad because when I turned and saw what had happened, she just gave me the messiest cue to smile. And when I got home, I locked in, took her right into bat time, and aggressively scrubbed chocolate out of every nook and cranny. Best part is my wife, the chocolate culprit. But he's not gonna blame it on the wife.

01:02:49
Speaker 3: No, I can't do that.

01:02:50
Speaker 2: Not on a Mother's Day episode, thought this was the best thing since slice bread. Just bruce to the show, as all my fellow Peatsticker sixers know. Too much silence can sometimes be a bad thing. Thanks boys for all you do and bringing all us petsikos together. Dan from Jersey Hole, my god, Oh my god, bro, that is everywhere. Yeah, that will throw the image up. I mean that is she looks like William Wallace.

01:03:24
Speaker 1: Yeah, you get home. That's which that's Operation Chocolate.

01:03:26
Speaker 2: Yeah, get home.

01:03:28
Speaker 1: I feel him though on the tantrums, like against Scotty. You can't be in a car with her over ten to fifteen minutes before she starts losing her mind. There's gotta be something out there, like a net or something that catches them throwing, like you know, Scotty will throw her lama or her or binkie like on the ground. Yeah, and so here for example, when we're going to the baby shower at Clumps over the weekend, it was just me and Scotti. We're going to divide and conquer. Rue and Mom went to ballet. Me and Scotty were going out to the baby shower. We were going to rendezvous back at home so that way then we can all go to this festival that Rue had going on with her classmates. But on the way to the baby shower, it's just me and Scotti. It was probably a thirty five minute drive forty minute drive to get to Clumps from where I was at, and I had to pull over three different times, one time being on the side of the highway. I was under a bridge on the side of the highway because Scotty is screaming bloody murder because she wants Lama. And by the time I pull over and get all this stuff, she's still like in a bad mood because again is a car right over fifteen minutes. Yeah, and it is.

01:04:30
Speaker 3: You're in hell, card, dude.

01:04:31
Speaker 1: She hates it. That's her body, bro.

01:04:34
Speaker 12: Yeah.

01:04:34
Speaker 1: She loves to move, She loves to be free.

01:04:36
Speaker 2: She loves to be Zilla, even if she had stuff on the window or stuff to look at like she they most parents I'm saying, would be like, oh, does well have cutesy little stuff and that think scott Zilla wants to zilla.

01:04:49
Speaker 1: Maybe I do need to give her stuff to mess with. That's over because we're just we're no gear, you know what I mean, We're all we're no gear. She's got you know, if you need a snack, you give it back to her. But what she's done with the snack whatever, she'll throw that to the side. It's when she loses lama.

01:05:02
Speaker 2: Oh okay, I didn't know that. She didn't, So you're she's has no gear back there, right.

01:05:06
Speaker 1: No gear. She's just got the little mirror in front of her to where she can look at that in the passenger seat.

01:05:11
Speaker 2: Oh okay, so that's yeah, yeah, that.

01:05:13
Speaker 3: That that could be a bad learn right there, could dad hack.

01:05:18
Speaker 1: But it's like she'll throw the lama her webbing up and it'll be stuck at the bottom, like in between the door and the seat, so I can't reach it. There's nowhere where I can reach back and grab it and give it back to her. It's always in the hardest places in front of her car seat, down into the seat on the side, like I just said, in between the door and the seat. The bet she'll lose it like under her arm or under her back, and she just can't you know, she can't reach it. How does it get under their butt?

01:05:44
Speaker 2: That's like an actual thing that I'm like, I pick Scarlet up out of the seat and all the stuff that's.

01:05:50
Speaker 3: Under her butt, I'm like, how's it getting underneath you?

01:05:53
Speaker 1: I had to drive off on a side road, park it in a driveway you get out under or on the highway underneath the bridge. Had to get out, pulled one where I was by a gas station, thank god, pulled in the gas station.

01:06:04
Speaker 3: McDonald's. Ended up getting these breakfasts.

01:06:06
Speaker 2: Hey, come on, man, Hey, Jill got this little fidget book for Scarlet. One of my favorite parts of your baby being in a car seat is you can only see the top of their head when you like turn around and look back at him if you don't have a mirror. And Jill has this whole fidget book for Scarlet that she just bought and she's very proud of it. And we're driving to dinner two nights ago, and we hear the book drop and Jill goes, oh, she.

01:06:32
Speaker 3: Dropped her fidget book. She loves her fidget book. We get her fidget book.

01:06:36
Speaker 2: I go, yeah, and I pick up the fidget book. I can't see Scarlet's face, so I'm just reaching over here and I place it there and I here oh, and I'm like, oh, she does love her fidget book. Fidget book. Then all of a sudden truly goes boom and flies. I've grown up the car. Jill was like, what was that? I just go, I don't think she wants her.

01:07:00
Speaker 1: That's with the pigeon. But you'll be unbuckled, like you all be driving up fully unbuckling. I'm like climbing in the back, like reaching over down into the bottom where the door and everything is looking as gotty.

01:07:10
Speaker 10: You have to hold this, yeah, quick throwing it if they don't want something you want, you like you like take a peek back and you just kind of see their car set and you just see their little arm like throw something on the side.

01:07:21
Speaker 5: Bro.

01:07:21
Speaker 2: It's so funny, dude, not being able to see their face but see their arms just like throwing something. Unreal.

01:07:28
Speaker 3: Do do we want to dive in?

01:07:30
Speaker 2: I know we're like over an hour, got to keep it under it, and we have to keep it under an hour. So do we want to dive into. We could do emails and call ins here.

01:07:42
Speaker 6: And then we have a segment of Mother's Day shout outs and Mother's Day shout outs and Deeke, you tell me, do we want to save Mothers Day shout outs for when we're on the bus listening to our moms talking, move, be smooth, do that.

01:07:58
Speaker 1: We'll do that.

01:07:59
Speaker 2: So we'll just do emails and call ins here and then we're gonna move it over to the bus because surprise, surprise, we got some moms coming on the show.

01:08:07
Speaker 1: Yes, we we we you Okay, cool? Uh, let's dive into some call ins and against six on one the Dads. You want to call in, leave a voicemail and literally say whatever you want vent to the boys talk about Winn's losses. So happy Mother's it doesn't matter whatever your little heart desire. Six and one the Dads is the number you call.

01:08:24
Speaker 2: Hey, while we're pulling this up, we've yet to interview our interns.

01:08:31
Speaker 3: Do we want to do that on the bus? I say on the bus? Okay, say on the bus.

01:08:35
Speaker 2: We do have a lot of cameras on the bus and a lot of mics, so that works perfect. That's great. I'm just thinking.

01:08:40
Speaker 6: It went from me telling them they could be on like we'll bother you for ten minutes tomorrow to now they're on the four episode, which I love, which we love. I feel like they love and if they don't love it, they do love it.

01:08:49
Speaker 1: So I'm excited.

01:08:52
Speaker 2: A couple of goombrets st sixers. Hey, it's just gonna be like five minutes, man, I would these guys are professionals. They keep bick the shout out at the top.

01:09:05
Speaker 6: The idea was they were going to shout out at the top and then they were gonna go they.

01:09:10
Speaker 2: Were gonna go do intern things.

01:09:11
Speaker 6: But also, I don't again, if I don't really care what they say, they love being here, they love it that.

01:09:18
Speaker 1: That's on me. That's on me. No, Like I'm thinking, get them shout outs, but in my brain, I'm thinking they're hanging out for the whole episode.

01:09:28
Speaker 6: The goal was to make them fall in love with the show so much that they would hang out for the full episode. But it was supposed to start with intros because we know their names and we know they kind of know DC, and that's it.

01:09:38
Speaker 2: This is all this is Nick how it's fault because Nick Alletts said, oh Shurm did the intro. Will was then like, oh Shurm do the intro, and then sharm forgot to ask the interns about their moms.

01:09:49
Speaker 1: Are the voicemails pulled up?

01:09:50
Speaker 3: They're pulled out and let's do it. This was Texas wipey shout.

01:09:58
Speaker 2: Well then you led you just calling in to shout out the wife.

01:10:02
Speaker 13: Catherine Gabriel from Fort Hood, Texas. Speaker 2: Oh he's at well, he's at for it. He's stationed at Fort Hoods. Yeah, in military wise and in it obviously as a dad as well.

01:10:51
Speaker 1: Yeah, because when he threw the military bs. But he's just he's got a lot on his plate right now. He does, but he's taking the time to call it dad Pod, no doubt. I love that, which I love. Yeah, but I agree the man he's dealing with a lot. You can hear it. You can hear it, you can hear it in his voice. Yeah, but shout up Mom, Shout out Tatum.

01:13:09
Speaker 2: How good of a job did I do? I also have a Mother's Day hack and I have a video of Dalton Shields loaded up here.

01:13:25

01:16:10

01:17:13
Speaker 2: They did not.

01:17:16
Speaker 1: Look at the dress.

01:17:18
Speaker 5: You know, it's more like your boy, Travis Kelsey is what I saw.

01:17:23
Speaker 2: Taylor tweeted it too, five words. You know, my coach, you'll put hip on the dress, and chef, do not put the picture of m in that dress with Joshipel's face on it.

01:17:52

01:17:52
Speaker 1: I didn't see anything about hip.

01:17:55
Speaker 2: We were boy wears dresses. My ball comes up, you kid, mate, that's some bullshit dude. Emails Yeah, yeah, emails filler. I have Chris Venetian or Chris Vanessillon. Chris says, hey, guys, I wanted to reach out and give you a big thank you for the podcast and the incredible community that you're building. As a dad of two, a three year old son and a one year old daughter, it's made a huge impact on my life. It's also helped my wife and myself as we navigate the ups and downs of raising two little ones. Growing up, my dad was an extremely hard worker who carried a lot of stress from providing for our family. He always made sure that we had what we needed, but he was often overwhelmed and could always enjoy time at home. Becoming a dad has always been a dream of mine because I wanted to give my kids a better experience. I've taken my dad's work ethic with me, but I've also needed guidance, especially an under standing that the stress I feel is normal and just a part of being a dad.

01:19:04
Speaker 3: Your podcast has become.

01:19:06
Speaker 2: My go to on Walks with Dog, and I've been listening consistently for the past six months. The stories you share and the insights you offer have helped me realize I'm not alone in these struggles, something that was never openly talked about when I was growing up. Because of that, I've become a better dad, husband, and overall person. Lately, I've been more intentional about leaving work stress behind and being present for the small, meaningful moments rather that's playing with my kids, watching my son get into golfer basketball, or seeing my daughter explore the world as she crawls and starts working towards her first steps. One morning, during a solo dad Saturday shout out solo Saturdays, I woke up to chaos. My daughter had a diaper blowout overnight, and my son had a stomach bug and God's sick all over his room.

01:19:56
Speaker 5: Good.

01:19:57
Speaker 2: But instead of feeling over well, the only word that came to mind was good. I just embraced the moment, knowing that someday I'll look back and I'll laugh, and I'll even miss days like this. After listening to the episode about the slide with your daughter, Will, I ended up taking my kids to the playground the next day. My son climbed up a ladder on his own more than twenty times. Later, when my wife got there, the one time she watched, he fell from the top. Instead of panicking, we pause, talked through how scary it was, and he climbed right back up on his own. It was one of those proud dad moments I'll never forget, and I hope it helps build his confidence moving forward. I also want to give a huge shout out to my wife. She's the strongest and most incredible mom. I know she's always there for me and our kids. That's an amazing example, and somehow keeps everything running smoothly. She does so much that often goes unnoticed, all while being my fully present with our All while being fully present with our family, I wouldn't be growing into the dawn I want to be without her love and support. What y'all are building with this community is special. It's truly changing the way I parent and show up in life. I'm incredibly grateful to this podcast, and I share it with my wife, my friends, and my children and anyone I know who is expecting. You've helped normalize the realities of being a dad while reminding us what really matters. Thank you for giving me the confidence to be a dad I've always wanted to be, and a dad that my kids deserve. Appreciate y'all. Chris pet Siko out. Thank you, Chris, Thank you, Chris.

01:21:37
Speaker 3: Wonderful email dude.

01:21:38
Speaker 1: Yeah, great storytelling too. Yes, I have one here from Janelle Lockner email. Hi, guys, I wanted to share a quick story and shout out my husband Tom. Come on, he is just returned to work after ten weeks of paternity to leave this past fall. We welcome to our baby girl, and we also have a soon to be three year old son. We don't have much family nearby here in Virginia. Our village is basically just our nanny, so adjusting to life as a family of four has been dot dot dot a lot between constant preschool sickness, a toddler who refuses to sleep in his own bed, and a very grassy and very vocal baby. We were both struggling. I'd gone back to work full time and Tom was home feeling pretty isolated without much of an outlet. Then something shifted. Toward the end of his leave. Tom started listening to your podcast while mowing the lawn, and then on the train to work at the gym, even on a long drive back to New Jersey, and I realized this was the change. He found something that made him feel less alone, something that reminded him that we're not the only ones going through this chaos, and honestly, it's helped us both get through a lot of really tough seasons. So I just want to say thank you. You've given my husband an outlet, brought some much needed laughter into our days, and helped our family more than you probably realize.

01:22:53
Speaker 3: We're so grateful and we'll definitely keep listening. And to my husband, thank you.

01:22:57
Speaker 1: You've showed up every single day with patients, love and a sense of humor even when we're both running on empty. You're an incredible dad, and I'm so grateful to be embracing the love and suck of parenthood together with you. Janelle Janelle Janelle.

01:23:14
Speaker 2: Writing in a mom writing in on Mother's Day that's when you know they're an empty siko. Yeah, I got a quick shout out if you have another email that you want to jump into. This comes from Wendy Glasgow. I wanted to read this because I told the guys before the podcast started, there's a reason that the United States of America will never be invaded on the ground. It's because of women like Wendy Glassnow, okay, Wendy Glasgow's you're a four says Milk Team six member here from southern Oklahoma, mother to a four year old big boy named Cad, Big Boy, Big Boy.

01:23:52
Speaker 1: Three day.

01:23:53
Speaker 2: As Mother's Day is around, As Mother's Day is around the corner, I was wondering if you guys could help about the single mama's out here raising little voice to men.

01:24:04
Speaker 3: Any advice of any sorts.

01:24:31
Speaker 3: I got a quick one here by Dalton Shields. Guys, big what weekend for me?

01:24:37
Speaker 1: My daughter Blake is for and I've been taking her to a dance every Saturday for six months. Today was the recital. It was amazing. My girl looked beautiful and she danced amazingly. Definitely got a little misty in there, if you know what I mean. The whole squad was in attendants, mom, dad, dance, uncles, and she shined. The peak was absolutely. The peak was absolutely when the teachers pulled all the dads into the back room and asked us you would do anything for your daughters right then had us put on two two's and due a performance see the attached pick and vid. Her teachers gifted her a book which had amazing things written about the energy she braise a class and what kind of student she is. Even said she has the best hairstyles. Shout out mom, Happy Mother's Day. Mom made us feel like we're the we're on the right track with raising her, and it was like a reward to know the little woman we are raising and we are raising is making such an impact on people. Seeing your confidence and love for something like dance has made me so proud as a dad. I am so grateful for her and my family. It has been a blessing raising her, and I can't wait for more memories and moments like these in the future. Dalton Shields from Lansdale, Pennsylvania. Ps. Are we still doing BBQ sauces? If so? Rufus Tigu's touch oh heat, Rufus Tig's touch of heat is hands down the best sauce. Take the trash out and here's the photo of Dalton Shields with this beautiful family rocking the tu tuo photo of his little daughter crushing it in ballet class. I also have a video of Dalton Shields Will in the ballet class. Well, we'll pull this up on screen. I'm just turning it for Will.

01:26:50
Speaker 1: Good job, Dalton. We are going to now kick it over to the bus. If you have stayed with the boys this long and you're in this part of the episode, drop drop what sicko?

01:26:59
Speaker 5: Sick o?

01:27:00
Speaker 2: Yeah, drop siko emoji for quick note back to Wendy because she was asking any advice for her son. I would say, you have all the power in the world and the choice to surround Kate with people in his life that he can look up to, including yourself. Sounds like you are an absolute stud and just surround him with incredible people and be picky people that he will want to look up to to model himself after. And I don't think you can go wrong. In Wendy, it sounds like he's off to a great start because you're his mom, You're a stud.

01:27:40
Speaker 1: Good words man as well said thank you. All right, we're kicking it to uh, You're gonna see us on the bus right after this clap pt sickos.

Speaker 1: Right, back shout out moms portion of segment, not that the other shoutouts to the moms earlier. We just have videos that we have monitors and screens where we can watch these videos or which moms tuned in? Can we let the get out the bag?

01:35:56
Speaker 5: Yeah? I think that's all.

01:35:58
Speaker 1: You've got all three moms right, Yes, deep Chef Shurham, Mom's called it with videos answering questions. I personally, I don't even know. I don't know the conversation, I don't know the question. So I'm excited to learn about the Mama bears talking about their boys.

01:36:13
Speaker 2: My mom sent hers in at one o'clock in the morning.

01:36:16
Speaker 1: Nice, yeah, nice, she took it serious.

01:36:19
Speaker 2: Well, Deeke, I'm a shit list.

01:36:24
Speaker 1: Oh no, it's Mother's Day week.

01:36:27
Speaker 2: Deeke did say he does love my mom. But she was the last to cement hers. Oh she was late, she was a little tardy, but she got am in. She got love you, Love you Mom, Love you, Mama Shirham. First, before we get rolling, we got our interns in here.

01:36:41
Speaker 1: We're gonna let the boys. We're gonna give them a floor, a moment to shout out their moms. Yes, shout out their moms.

01:36:48
Speaker 8: My mom is amazing, complete badass.

01:36:51
Speaker 1: There and again, just to remind it, remind everybody, make sure you see your name in your position.

01:36:55
Speaker 5: We got it.

01:36:55
Speaker 3: Yeah, signing bonus. We got to remind people over and over who they're listening to.

01:36:59
Speaker 8: Zach Marshall, tight end for University of Michigan football. I'm a senior, and I mean I have the best mom ever.

01:37:08
Speaker 1: Oh no, Zach Zack Zax sect we gotta you gotta dive in. Yeah, you gotta dive in. Goa.

01:37:14
Speaker 8: I was gonna let let Tray set the stage for My mom's a complete badass. She's she's done it all. She's been a single mom now her and my dad has raised me and my my sister. She raised my oldest sister alone and was an amazing mom to her. Has has done it all. So she's the spiritual head of our household, like real just has. We'll do anything through a wall.

01:37:43
Speaker 1: What do you say, how old are you?

01:37:44
Speaker 8: I'm twenty.

01:37:45
Speaker 1: You're twenty, so you're still young in the game. Yeah, if you can think about it, what would you say that you look back on and appreciate a lot more now that you're I mean you're not older, but now that you're twenty years old that maybe pissed you off back in the day. So if you get outside yourself, you've been listening to the for the dads pot as we've recorded all day to day, Like what's something you think that you're noticing now that you didn't notice back in the day.

01:38:14
Speaker 8: Like you said, the the bragging, the embarrassment you sit there, You're like, ah, come on, mom, stop it. Stop it. Now I look back on that and I'm like, wow, she she was, she is was so proud of me. Yeah, she still is the team mom for Michigan football, Like she's she she lives with me during the fall.

01:38:33
Speaker 1: Like oh yeah, so she the laundry done.

01:38:37
Speaker 8: We have a house in ann Arbor so that she can live with me during the fall. And it's like, in the moment you sit there, you go, oh my gosh, there's no way blah blah blah blah. Now you're just like, man, so grateful. Yeah, the gratitude, the gratitude never happens. I know. There's there's a joke like you wish you're in the you knew when you would be in the good old times. Yeah, yeah, sometimes you wish like in the in the times when your mom's like embarrassing you, or or you just like, oh my gosh, you're too much. Sometimes, yeah, those are the moments you remember.

01:39:11
Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean I remember.

01:39:12
Speaker 8: I mean she was my best friend, Like I can, I can genuinely say that my mom's like my closest friend, like text her every day, call her every day. I know she was texting during the pod earlier and you got on me. But I'm always taking my mom over for the boys.

01:39:27
Speaker 1: There you go for the dads.

01:39:29
Speaker 8: For the dads, I mean he could be both. I mean the young the young ones who aren't dads. Yeah, it's still for the boys.

01:39:34
Speaker 1: But yeah, my mom, I feel you that you get frustrated in those moments where they're just you know, whether they're around the boys and they're bringing up memories or moments or you're like, god, please just shut up. Yes, but now you know it's dude, appreciate him as much because it's it does more like they are just so proud, like I'm gonna be that dad, Like you're gonna have a kid one day and you're just gonna that's when things are just gonna click, Like you just kind of get the stuff that your parents used to do.

01:39:57
Speaker 8: You're just so proud of the so the so little. It's like you in the moment, you're like, oh, it wasn't a big deal to you, but it is to them. Like the steps that you take, whether it's as a as a young like you say, the preteens are crazy, those preteens. Yeah, I mean you see your your kid go from being like a preteen to like a real a real man, and they're like, I can only imagine what it is from their view. Yeah, because in your in your life, it's like, dude, it's it's whatever, it's just my life. It's just what's happened. I just changed a couple of ideas. That big a deal, really it is.

01:40:33
Speaker 1: It's everything to see.

01:40:35
Speaker 8: I mean I can't say it from experience, obviously, but probably seeing your kid become the person that everyone's parents want them to be better than what they were at that age, or better than them as they grow up. Man, I've moved this too much, so I'm gonna have to tighten this up. But like, just to become better than your parents is the only wish that your parents should have for you. And I know that's probably exactly what you have for scott Zilla and Row, like, yeah, to have your kids become better than you.

01:41:09
Speaker 1: And they're always going to see you the way we see Scarlett Rue scott Zilla like your little toddler version is how they're just always going to see you.

01:41:18
Speaker 2: Oh dude, I was about to say I know nothing about either one of y'all's moms, but the only thing I do know is how much truly they love you, just from the little experience I have of every single diaper change, every single teaching all how to crawl, teaching you how to walk, making sure you have enough food in your belly, like.

01:41:37
Speaker 1: Trying to get you to stop whining.

01:41:39
Speaker 2: Oh dude, your moms just love you.

01:41:43
Speaker 9: Dude.

01:41:43
Speaker 1: Yeah, oh Trey, Oh yeah.

01:41:49
Speaker 9: Trey Fears defensive tackle in RISS and Michigan shout out my mom. It's been, like I think, growing up, you don't realize it, but she is orchestrated in my life and set my life up in a way to where if I failed, it would have it would have been because of me. She's she's done everything for me, Like and I grew up and now I think I think I'm realizing now is that I'm even more impressed with how my parents kind of raised me, because like I'm kind of I'm going into that adult phase and I couldn't imagine taking care of somebody else right now. Like I was in my mom was going to school and I was like in kindergarten and stuff like that. So I'm doing my work, I'm doing football, and I'm doing this. She was doing that, and she was raising a child. So I'm just like, shout out, shout out, Kelly.

01:42:38
Speaker 1: Shut out. You know.

01:42:42
Speaker 9: Growing up, I just think my mom's kind of laying.

01:42:46
Speaker 5: Like we all do.

01:42:48
Speaker 1: It's like it's kind of natural.

01:42:50
Speaker 9: Yeah, she I was like, But now I'm in college. Now I'm just like talking to my mom when I'm not living with her, like, you know what, I'll go, I'll go get a drink of my mom. You know, got my mom.

01:43:00
Speaker 1: You know stuff. Haven't done that, but I would do it. Yeah, shout out Kelly, Kelly.

01:43:09
Speaker 3: Yeah, fellas, that's awesome. Love to hear that stuff. I loved that.

01:43:14
Speaker 2: That was so fun, dude. And they did. I know, I'm saying it again, but their their moms love them, Their moms love them. We are very, very lucky to have people in our lives that are spending all those little moments. It's the unseen moments. It's the moments that I can't even remember about my mom, that you can't remember about your mom, that they were doing the right thing, taking care of you, making sure you have every single thing was set up for success. It's unreal.

01:43:43
Speaker 1: And you also just we know because we're going through right now. But you realize how hard like parenting and all of it, marriage, parenting, teamwork, all that stuff is when you're also doing when you're also chasing the things that you want to chase, and know that there is no It's like I was listening to Ryan Nolan talk about how he crushed a four hour nap on Saturday or Sunday, and I sit back, I'm like, my god, there's just I do miss those times. Yeah, And you're like, Okay, I had a long Friday night or a Saturday and you get to kind of vegi out, you have pockets to veg out, and there's just there's not that anymore because you have to like all of your attention has to be on things at home that also juggle and balance around everything you want to chase in your careers and your ambitions. And then that there's like a sacrifice that does take place that you can't necessarily articulate or like quantify, yeah, until you're like until you're basically just in it.

01:44:42
Speaker 2: Yes, And that was the only part that I can truly speak to you because I don't have an eight year old, a twelve year old, a grown ass man, a grown ass honor I'm so new to it, but like there is the just like every moment counts. I feel like in parenting, every little moment, and somebody had to make sure that every single one of those moments counted for you guys to be able to take advantage of those moments and be where you are here today.

01:45:10
Speaker 1: In the mental load we always talk about with moms or with parents, where there's a mental load taking place, like as they're growing up to where we're gonna do it. We all do it with our kids, Like you're thinking about their future. They might think they're thinking about their future, but we as parents are were like, I'm viewing it in a way that's different than the bullshit, the six seven, all this stuff that you guys are dancing around with right now, in a different way that's like, you know, this is longer term thinking that they try to invest in you and pour into you and imprint on you. So that way, they're hopeful that you think about it as much as them. Yeah, but more than your kid can really understand or realize. Boys, that was great. You guys can go hang. You guys can go do your thing.

01:45:53
Speaker 3: The end, I don't know what's in store for you guys today.

01:45:56
Speaker 1: Intern.

01:45:56
Speaker 3: Oh, demon's got something cooked up?

01:45:58
Speaker 1: I'm sure.

01:45:58
Speaker 8: Yeah, yeah, more coffee, orders more, you know, yeah, turn in right, yeah, more intern. That's the point.

01:46:04
Speaker 1: Yes, trash, be taking your trash.

01:46:08
Speaker 8: Luckily there's no lawn here. I mean you guys would have a cutting that says.

01:46:14
Speaker 1: Even just a little patch we have by the mel box. Hey, let's find a z turnout there like Zach Tray.

01:46:21
Speaker 2: Thank you guys, Thank you guys, well done.

01:46:26
Speaker 1: Good work fellas.

01:46:28
Speaker 2: What's your mother name?

01:46:29
Speaker 8: Ever?

01:46:30
Speaker 1: Ever? Ever? Eva Marshall?

01:46:32
Speaker 8: If you want to try, it's a real name.

01:46:35
Speaker 1: We'll go with Eva.

01:46:36
Speaker 2: Yeah, Yeahva Kelly. We love you.

01:46:37

You embrace pregnancy with grace and crush delivery with courage, confidence and strength. Your selflessness and dedication to our family is inspiring, and the glow of motherhood has never looked better.

Speaker 3: Than it does on you.

01:48:31
Speaker 2: Campbell is lucky to have you as her mom, and I cannot wait to watch or learn from the amazing example that you are setting for her. It goes without saying, but returning to work and spending time away from Bug isn't easy. However, you are once again proving that the way you do anything is the way you do everything with unrelenting tenacity. I love you and I am so so proud and inspired by you. Dylan.

01:51:13
Speaker 2: I want to give my wife, Chelsea a huge Mother's Sake shout out for being an incredible mom to our two year old Charlie. She turns three in August. Chelsea has stayed at home with char since she was born and has helped shape her into the sweetest cutest, smartest little girl that I've ever been around. Chelsea has helped her learn to regulate her emotions and help around the house. I try to tell her all the time how great of a job she's doing raising our daughter. I'm so impressed and so thankful for all the work she does, all while taking care of her own needs. At the same time, it's amazing to be able to go to work every day and know I've got such a smart, strong woman as my wife helping shape our daughter into an incredible girl.

01:51:54
Speaker 3: I'm so proud of both of them.

01:51:55
Speaker 2: PT Siko out, Let's go, Garrett.

01:51:59
Speaker 5: Let's go.

01:51:59
Speaker 9: Gee.

01:52:01
Speaker 1: Should we get into the videos?

01:52:03
Speaker 2: Good?

01:52:03
Speaker 4: Now?

01:52:04
Speaker 1: How do we roll these out? Or just we watch the video? Yeah?

01:52:08
Speaker 6: I think the dream way to work it is that you guys will watch the video and you can react and you know, say pause. I won't have headphones on. Che will help me out with it, but the video will play on screen. You can put you guys below it or something of that fashion. IM not gonna speak for the editory, but watch it, enjoy it, commentate about it. After all three of our moms answering ten questions that we send them.

01:52:25
Speaker 1: Okay, let's go.

01:52:27
Speaker 2: You sure, do you guys hear that?

01:52:31
Speaker 1: Yeah? Yepay.

01:52:32
Speaker 5: Question number one, did your son ever show early signs that he'd end up on a podcast or in front of an audience someday?

01:52:38
Speaker 8: Well, I think so.

01:52:40
Speaker 7: You love to talk.

01:52:44
Speaker 17: You talked all the time, very verbal, and then as you got older, you love.

01:52:51
Speaker 7: To watch movies and you would just sit.

01:52:54
Speaker 17: And watch like three hour movies, the whole process and loved it so absolutely.

01:53:04
Speaker 2: But you loved to talk.

01:53:05
Speaker 6: I remember that you were very verbal.

01:53:07
Speaker 7: You loved books and you love movies.

01:53:10
Speaker 1: So yeah, sounds verbal. Sounds about right.

01:53:13
Speaker 18: I didn't know what a podcast was. Derek love being on stages at a young age. He loved acting, singing, and entertaining from the time he started talking. My first experience with a podcast was Derek's podcast Thoughts from the Bench. I was impressed with his creativity and how fun the show was was obvious he and the guys had a great deal of joy from doing the show.

01:53:37
Speaker 4: It's absolutely yes. Sherman was an entertainer from the very beginning, and even his birth was.

01:53:43
Speaker 1: Like one am now of the Coen Brothers.

01:53:45
Speaker 4: Films, and he was in every play and every production and improv and high school. He wrote and directed a movie that was shot at our home, which was basically like a film studio.

01:54:00
Speaker 7: Everything in his life has been creative.

01:54:04
Speaker 1: Pause.

01:54:04
Speaker 5: That's that's question number one, Question number one.

01:54:07
Speaker 1: I thought your mom's guys did a phenomenal job breaking you guys down.

01:54:11
Speaker 2: Yeah.

01:54:12
Speaker 1: I like if it was just me sitting with your guys's moms asking this first question and they were just answering to me, I feel like every answer that they had I feel like articulates you guys, like in that fashion, like you with starting off with chef just a talker, Like you get caught in a corner with chef, you talking Tennessee balls, fill in the space, it's spot on, oh d to where as you continue to talk, there's a smile that comes on my face because I just now know that it's happening, and I know it's you with Deeke like creativity, the way that you are able. I've used the word articulate a lot already, but the way like Derek is able to articulate, whether in like a blog writing talking about film. When we were in Pittsburgh, in your taking us around, what was the area called where you were showing us, Hey, this is where I did the podcast, is where we do this, you know, Yeah, you're talking about Monday through Friday, like your grind each day of the week. I feel like your mom was able to like encapsulate that to where again, if I'm just sitting with your mom, it's like this warm smiles on my face because I'm like, yeah, like this has been you guys, like from the jump, like you having a film studio and your creativity and production and wanting to be in film and being in front of cameras and being part of the play. I feel like that is Sherman young, Like I am not surprised to hear these things from your mom like at a young age. Dude.

01:55:37
Speaker 2: The also the added note of Chef's setup of like him being at.

01:55:43
Speaker 3: Were you there for the recording?

01:55:45
Speaker 5: Eye, So I did the interview.

01:55:47
Speaker 2: I love that so much, dude. His mom is so cute and sweet.

01:55:51
Speaker 1: Yeah.

01:55:51
Speaker 5: Video, it was like Lisa was slightly nervous for it, which like I guess we're all numb to like the fact that we were on a podcast.

01:55:57
Speaker 2: Yeah talk to people.

01:55:58
Speaker 1: Yeah.

01:55:58
Speaker 5: I had to remind myself, hey, this is gonna go out in front of a lot of people. So I was like, hey, I'll walk you through it. We'll do it together. I'm excited for you guys to see some of the other.

01:56:07
Speaker 1: Okay, question number two.

01:56:16
Speaker 18: What's the most trouble he ever got into as a kid and did you think he got away with it as a preschooler? Derek and his best friend called nine one one and they came art paid fun.

01:56:27
Speaker 7: I thought, as well as.

01:56:28
Speaker 18: I didn't put money in it, it wouldn't call.

01:56:30
Speaker 15: He was to say.

01:56:31
Speaker 18: The police showed up and talked on the lesson.

01:56:33
Speaker 17: Oh, let's see which one I can. Oh, gosh, I think the most teenager. I think the most trouble you got as a teenager that I recall is when we had to take your little brother to a soccer tournament you were in high school. We let you stay by yourself for the very first time, and I said, under no circumstances, you're allowed to have your buddies over, no parties, no risky business.

01:57:08
Speaker 7: I don't know if you remember this, but you were probably sixteen, maybe.

01:57:13
Speaker 17: Fifteen or sixteen, and we let you say, and we said, your grandma's going to check on you. The neighbors are going to don't know if you have people over and you're like, I got it, mom, No, no, my friends aren't going to come over. And then we came home that Sunday walked in the garage and like our shoes were sticking.

01:57:34
Speaker 7: You. I'm like, oh, he totally had people over, So you got busted.

01:57:41
Speaker 1: Some beard. Paul went down in their garage.

01:57:44
Speaker 4: Most trouble that Sherman ever got into with me was that he made an a B C D in F one semester in college and I told him he had to come home and work construction and that He said, well, you know that's a C average, right, I mean, people don't send their kid home for a CEA average.

01:58:07
Speaker 7: And I was like, yeah, I know, you're coming home. So he did, and several of them, you know, I never go back to college, and I was like, no, he's going back to college.

01:58:16
Speaker 4: He's going to get a college degree, but he's going to come home and work and appreciate it. And so he did, and it ended up being like one of the most wonderful experience and all the people he worked with, it was really really a cool experience.

01:58:31
Speaker 1: Oh that was all three Yeah, that's all. There's the routine in my head an and F and you're saying that.

01:58:40
Speaker 2: C average, but also it was a it was a point eight average. So that's just a bold face lie of saying it was a cea average. I was trying to pull one over on my mom.

01:58:54
Speaker 1: How ruda was the construction.

01:58:57
Speaker 3: I mean it was very hard because my dad's friend.

01:59:02
Speaker 2: Owned a remodeling business, basically said, Hey, my wife is wanting to put my son in construction. I know you own this remodeling business, blah blah. He was like, I got a crew I could put him on tomorrow, And my dad basically told him kick his ass, like fully kick his ass. And my very, my very first day, the Keith Horton, who has since passed, but I truly Keith Horton is like up there with my dad and some other men that I like, highly regard of, like huge life lessons learned, shakes my hand when I show up, gives me this whole rundown, which I find out later is complete bullshit of about something in the yard that they got to redo. Yeah, and he says, I need you to dig up this entire trench and we're talking like thirty feet of like at least seven feet into the ground. I need you to dig it all up. And it took me two days to do that. And once I was done, Keith was like, hey, homeowners, they changed their mind, so we actually we need all that back back in that trench of kind of like letting me know, like, hey, you ain't this ain't summer camp, like welcome, welcome to the ship. Yeah, we just gave you a job that didn't even exist to like really kick your oh, dude. And it was like that for the first three weeks. And then once I like was showing them a attitude of like, hey, I'm not going to quit, I'm happy to be here and I'm going to have a good attitude about it and stuff, they quickly started putting me on more and more jobs and giving me more and more like actual responsibility. And it ended up being so sick, and it made me appreciate college that much more. Like I went back, I didn't make a blow of b average after construction. GPA was already screwed from the point eight that brought home. But this was but the lesson was good, lesson was learned, lesson was awesome, and that all came from Miss Amy. She was like my dad was trying to think of some kind of way to kind of, you know, teach me a lesson. Blah blah blah. Miss Amy was like, you pull his ass out of school right now. He's not getting away with this shit and that thank you mom.

02:01:17
Speaker 1: Dude, Shout out your mom. Shout out your mom. I remember one time I was like, in uh, fifth or sixth grade, and I what do they call progress reports? Like the midterm report card whatever it was?

02:01:28
Speaker 5: Ya ruh.

02:01:29
Speaker 1: This was like a progress report, so not the full report card? Yes, And I had gotten I believe a D in AR reading. So in AR reading, you would have to read you know, books around like your whatever grade level you were at, yep. And then you after you read the AR book, you would go and take an AR test.

02:01:46
Speaker 2: Yeah.

02:01:46
Speaker 1: And if you test it well, like you pass whatever it is, get over a seven out of ten or something like that. And I was doing very poorly in ARI because I hated reading growing up, Like I was not a big reader. I hated English. I hated reading. And I remember being in the middle of a football practice played for the Panthers. But my mom came in the middle during football practice and pulled me from practice and then told my coach, and make sure to say it in front of me, if he's going to fail in school, like, he's not going to play football, because I know he loves like I know he loves football. I know this is what he has the most fun doing. Yeah, if he doesn't make good grades, like, he's not going to play football. And she took my ass home and I was basically was like, if you don't get your shit turned around or go to your teacher and ask questions about how you can lift it up, knowing that it was a progress report.

02:02:33
Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, that you're.

02:02:35
Speaker 1: Listening, you're not playing football. If you're not going to take school serious, you're not going to take this other stuff serious. God damn, it's like those little lessons like I enjoy hearing that.

02:02:44
Speaker 2: It's gonna be hard for us to do that one day. Yeah you know what I mean, Like I think about that with Scarlett already. I'm like, I have to keep that mentality that my mom did not budge on punishments. Once it came out of her mouth, that was God might as well have said it. God might as well have said it, because that that's what was gonna happen The nine on one call is so funny.

02:03:08
Speaker 6: I remember at vividly because it was my childhood buddy and we were at a kmart and our moms were in there. I forget why, but they were taking forever and so we were dialing like fake numbers on the payphone because you obviously got to put money in it. And I was so young that I used. I was still going to like Safety Town at this point, and so I called in and we would just be like, oh my gosh, god Zilla has attacking this kmart and hang up. And then cops came and they're like, is there an emergency? And I was like, no, no, my mom's like oh, officerly like and told him and the cops like we could take you to jail, kid, and like obviously handed it up for the next year. At Safety Town, which I used to go, and you learn about crossing the street and like they have these little cars you can pedal in these bikes, Like it was so much fun. I had to sit there and explain to the whole class the safety terribleness of what I've done basically. Oh, and so I had to explain to the whole class that I called nine on one and they can come. And I basically said to the class, you don't got to put money in those phones. They work like those phones work, and do not put money on them. You call whatever you want to call, and call the cops. And I was like I left it being like that's not exactly the message I wanted to say, yeah, yeah, yeah at that.

02:04:15
Speaker 1: Point, Yeah, that's so fun. I remember pulling a prank on my mom. I saw a cop like driving by, or we were around a cop, like when we were driving home, and I remember pulling a prank of like I was like leaning out the window and I was.

02:04:29
Speaker 6: Like help, yeah, well yeah, get you taken away.

02:04:38
Speaker 1: And so we get pulled over whatever. Like my mom was hitting me, but I'm I'm joking.

02:04:45
Speaker 2: Once the cop came, you were still going.

02:04:48
Speaker 1: Well, and like the cop was aware of what was going on, and you know, my mom was like trying to handle it, and like you know when the cop when the cop left, she's give me a very stern talking to you about like not that way, and I didn't, like, I'm just trying to be like funny.

02:05:02
Speaker 2: How old are you?

02:05:04
Speaker 1: Uh, probably like ten or eleven? Too young? Just young?

02:05:09
Speaker 2: Hey, don't sleep on the fact that chef had the boys over for a little for a little booze hour.

02:05:15
Speaker 5: And yes, bro, it was full risky business the next day and I was like, I'm so fucked too. It's just maybe it took mom and dad maybe twenty minutes before my dad was like, I know, I know what happened. He I got a shitload of trouble for that.

02:05:31
Speaker 2: How many guys do you have over?

02:05:32
Speaker 5: I think it was like ten to twelve people.

02:05:34
Speaker 2: That's a pretty good party.

02:05:36
Speaker 1: He's a pretty good party.

02:05:37
Speaker 2: That's a pretty good party.

02:05:38
Speaker 1: So funny that we all have those stories like that. Coddy was at a wrestling tournament and I threw a party back home because I was wrestling JV at the time, like I was doing JV first because it was like the year where I was either grounded or I had to wrestle.

02:05:52
Speaker 3: So first tournament, varsity's going varsity.

02:05:54
Speaker 1: They're gonna like make an example, Like I have to earn my way to VARs to be on the varsity roster. So I had to be on the bus the next morning at like five or six am to do like this three hour bus ride to jeff City. Oh god, And I threw a party at the house where I had like ten twelve people over and we got so hammered. Bro oh god to where like somebody gets like taking home, they're like puking in the side. They're like dropping me off of the thing, and I'm just hung over and I'm just hoping that my boys logan John oh, they have to clean up, yeah, cleaning up my house and making sure stuff's in order. But my parents come home and there's like a we were fucking. This is when forty year old virgin was hot, and so somebody had a condom like on their hand doing like I am Aquaman and it was just out and that's what got us, Logan, we got that's what got us. When I got back from that JV wrestling tournament. By the way, I won the wrestling tournament. Didn't get scored on at the JV wrestling tournament. We'll come back and then like we're getting you know, you know, yeah, yeah, it was not good. It was not good. In another prank, like the nine one one, a car was gonna pull out. We were on a stop sign. I was like myudd look out and she like slams on the brakes and there was no car I was like, I'm just kidding, dude. She fucking I was like, mo b look god no, I started laughing. I'm like, oh, there's no car. She reaches backhands with me.

02:07:23
Speaker 7: Bro.

02:07:25
Speaker 1: I'm bleeding mouth. Yeah, yeah, yeah, you know, because I'm I was like a little like a middle a little menace in my own right.

02:07:35
Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm shocked at My mom also didn't tell this story because this is the most match she's ever been at me. One of my little movies that I was standing was a Russian terrorist uh film where we had I got my three friends that were the only three friends with black like SUVs, and we had people standing out of windows and stuff on this back road in Alito, Texas and a train is coming because there's a train tracks that go through the city of Aledo. And I tell everybody, we have speakerphones going through all three vehicles, and I'm directing it from the front vehicle and I'm shooting the whole thing, and I say, production value, we got a train come in. You guys act like you're shooting at the train. Union Pacific gets on the phone because the guy driving the train calls it in because all he sees is guys in ski masks with huge fake airsoft guns that we spray painted like assault type weapons, and we're driving this way, trains coming this way and they're going to the train. So that guy's probably like what the fuck? And Bro and I didn't even know they exist. It is a f five point fifty and it's just a massive pickup truck with train wheels there inside of the street wheels so it can drive on the tracks. Is flying down the railroad with lights on because we stopped there and we're like shooting something like eight police cards end up coming. Dude, it was a whole thing. I do not know how we didn't go to jail, I truly don't. But we had the camera and we're like, we're shooting this movie blah blah blah. But my mom I wasn't allowed to do anything for like three months, Like I was grounded, grounded for three months.

02:09:20
Speaker 6: Oh, saying it's an indie film had to be so embarrassing. There's this train robbery coming and the cops get there.

02:09:27
Speaker 2: You with an indie film, just a bunch of sixteen and seventeen year olds, crazy, shut up moms.

02:09:34
Speaker 5: Question, Shut up moms.

02:09:35
Speaker 1: Question three. I said the twenty minute time.

02:09:38
Speaker 3: That was just going off two questions at okay.

02:09:47
Speaker 1: Time out go we can't, we can't well, no audio, are you saying the question?

02:09:51
Speaker 8: No?

02:09:53
Speaker 7: What was the moment raising him that he did not appreciate at the time.

02:09:58
Speaker 4: It's just tragic flaw Sherman is a mess and it was not funny then, and it's.

02:10:06
Speaker 7: Not funny now, and you can ask Jill and she will bat me up on this.

02:10:11
Speaker 8: It's bad.

02:10:12
Speaker 18: We had an old recliner with a broken armress that the end could be removed. Inside there was a very large Can we.

02:10:19
Speaker 3: Go back, Let's just start the whole clip over because it's like delayed.

02:10:30
Speaker 7: What was a moment raising him that you did not appreciate at the time.

02:10:36
Speaker 4: It's his tragic faw Sherman is a mess and it was not funny then, and it's.

02:10:44
Speaker 7: Not funny now. And you can ask Jill and she will bat me up on this. It's bad.

02:10:50
Speaker 18: We had an old recliner with a broken armrest that the end could be removed inside there was a very large now it stuck straight out if you pulled off the end of the arm One day, Derek's brother Nica, made him mad and he grabbed that arm with the large nail sticking out, and ran through the house after his brother. Luckily we were able to stop him before he inflicted it.

02:11:13
Speaker 6: I think when I.

02:11:14
Speaker 17: Look back, when you were younger, you were very inquisitive.

02:11:18
Speaker 7: You were you talked a lot, all right, was good?

02:11:27
Speaker 17: Been a little stubborn and bullheaded because you like to debate with people.

02:11:34
Speaker 7: That's was probably a good thing. That's a good thing.

02:11:38
Speaker 4: One.

02:11:43
Speaker 7: Did you get that from your uncle John?

02:11:46
Speaker 1: From your uncle John, you're stubborn. Get that from your uncle John.

02:11:50
Speaker 2: I believe he talked a lot, all right.

02:11:55
Speaker 1: I think that's a good thing. Was gonna laugh at day, stubborn and bullet you're gonna get you get that from your uncle John.

02:12:00
Speaker 5: Oh my god, I do get that from uncle John.

02:12:02
Speaker 1: We know we heard hey, we heard.

02:12:06
Speaker 2: Sorry. That made me laugh so hard I farted And it does not smell that God, that was funny. Should we should we just do you swell it?

02:12:15
Speaker 3: Okay?

02:12:15
Speaker 1: Good?

02:12:16
Speaker 2: Do we want to just keep on ripping through.

02:12:18
Speaker 1: Let's let's just rip.

02:12:21
Speaker 6: I don't get hurt.

02:12:22
Speaker 1: Didn't hurt anyone. You were you're looking at my dad's like Michael Myers running around with the nail.

02:12:27
Speaker 6: I was chasing my brother with the nail arm and he just goes Marsha and she was following third behind. Oh my god, what's something he did as a little kid that he'd probably be embarrassed you talk about on a podcast.

02:12:43
Speaker 19: Oh boy, oh gosh, as a little boy embarrassed.

02:12:52
Speaker 7: Oh. The one thing that comes to my mind is when we were at Mass on Sunday we all went to Mass. Grant was a baby.

02:13:01
Speaker 17: We had just moved back from Dallas, so you were probably three, and that you were three and a half.

02:13:06
Speaker 7: It was before you turned four.

02:13:08
Speaker 5: We were in Mass.

02:13:09
Speaker 7: You were a little rambunctious.

02:13:11
Speaker 20: Your dad took you outside.

02:13:15
Speaker 17: And the way that our lady of the lake do you I don't know if you remember this, that the wind there was just glass windows.

02:13:22
Speaker 7: And the priest can see out.

02:13:25
Speaker 17: And apparently your dad turned around for just a few seconds.

02:13:29
Speaker 7: You had to go to the bathroom and didn't.

02:13:31
Speaker 17: Tell your dad, and you started to pee in the floor bed and and well the priest could see you. We were a little mortified.

02:13:46
Speaker 7: That.

02:13:48
Speaker 1: That's a good funny one. Yeah, it's a good funny one.

02:13:52
Speaker 18: It is literally impossible to embarrass Derek. He won't be embarrassed at all by this. But once Derek and Niko were playing with the two little girls across the street when they all were preschool aged, they all pulled their pants down around their ankles and peede in the yard together.

02:14:08
Speaker 1: Nice.

02:14:09
Speaker 2: My mom skipped this one, by the way. I don't know if that was intentral or not.

02:14:14
Speaker 1: Who knows, man, I know.

02:14:15
Speaker 3: I mean, at least you guys have some fun peace stories.

02:14:18
Speaker 1: Like my mom was talking, she just soiled me on how I went the bed, like very consistently. I was gonna endo my teenage years.

02:14:26
Speaker 2: I've told you that it was a big, big bed weather as well, right big, not as long, but I'm probably six years old, but I was a lightly Yeah that's light work, but I just wanted to, like be verse four, she just.

02:14:39
Speaker 1: Beat the bed, but like six, it's I'm not. I wouldn't think nothing of that. You try again, you beat your at your buddy's house and with anxiety going to sleep, like god, I hope I don't piss.

02:14:51
Speaker 2: The bed, breaking into their washer and dryer room to go to pre clean before anybody wakes up.

02:14:58
Speaker 1: Yeah, I was. I was up early, trying to well get rid of the evidence sleeping on your buddy's floor and you just piss on the floor like bro oh.

02:15:09
Speaker 3: And then when you when you know they know that you pissed the bed, and it's like, you know, god, oh my gosh.

02:15:22
Speaker 4: Question number five, what was a moment raising him where you thought, Okay, he's gonna be all right. I knew he was going to be more than all right from the get go. He was just always been the biggest blessing in my life and.

02:15:36
Speaker 7: Just full of joy.

02:15:37
Speaker 4: And it was just a blessing to raise him and to see him become such a sweet, fun, consistent, loving dad to Scarlet and making her belly laugh and just planning fun things to her all the time.

02:15:55
Speaker 7: It just blows me away to see the dad that he has become.

02:16:00
Speaker 1: Not a moment time out.

02:16:04
Speaker 4: So question number five, what was the moment raising him where you thought, Okay, he's gonna be all right.

02:16:10
Speaker 7: I knew he was going to be more than all right.

02:16:15
Speaker 1: So your mom knew you were going to be more than al right from the get go. Then at the very end, I don't know if you guys heard it, it blows her mind of.

02:16:26
Speaker 2: What a what an incredible dad.

02:16:28
Speaker 1: I beg yeah, yeah, yeah, blows her mind.

02:16:31
Speaker 2: Surprised, That's what I'm saying.

02:16:33
Speaker 1: She kind of go away. I'm surprised.

02:16:38
Speaker 2: Blows my mom.

02:16:39
Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah yeah. Your mom loves you.

02:16:42
Speaker 6: She does.

02:16:43
Speaker 1: Your mama loves you, she does, all right, keep going.

02:16:48
Speaker 7: Question number five.

02:16:53
Speaker 14: Not a moment.

02:16:54
Speaker 18: There were many moments Derry going off and discuss things with me, and we were fortunate to be able to mess. We let him make decisions for himself. He discussed things with us, but usually came to decisions on his own. We learned pretty early he was thoughtful in his decisions, and we felt confident in letting him do.

02:17:11
Speaker 7: That well in college.

02:17:13
Speaker 1: Thoughtful keyword.

02:17:15
Speaker 7: You had a sophomore year in college and.

02:17:20
Speaker 6: You turned it around.

02:17:21
Speaker 17: We had to come to Jesus meeting at the end of that sophomore.

02:17:24
Speaker 7: Year, and you turned it around your junior year.

02:17:27
Speaker 1: And I'll never forget few years ago.

02:17:30
Speaker 17: On a trip I was going with him, like on a business trip, and we were in the airplane getting ready to take off, and there was a.

02:17:37
Speaker 20: Notification from UT and you had made the Dean's list and that we had a rough winter. If you recall, that was a rough venture we had a lot of things going on, and I just remember I saw that and I.

02:17:54
Speaker 17: Looked at your dad and I said, I think he's going to be Okay, he's going to be.

02:18:00
Speaker 2: Four years you changed.

02:18:02
Speaker 7: It was a It was a great thing when you change.

02:18:04
Speaker 2: The chef's mob is undefeated.

02:18:06
Speaker 1: Yes, broad defeated, dude making the Deans lists. I think he's gonna be all right.

02:18:15
Speaker 5: If that me during that time, you probably it's actually it would make a lot more sense.

02:18:20
Speaker 1: Oh, I believe. I believe your mom. Dude.

02:18:22
Speaker 5: Yeah, yes, solid for you. I said it in there too, I said, yeah, solid four years ago.

02:18:27
Speaker 2: There's one coming up with my mom that I alluded to earlier in the show. Yeah, I will be very embarrassed by.

02:18:36
Speaker 6: Yeah, what's the one piece of advice you gave him that you actually think stuck?

02:18:46
Speaker 17: I think I instilled in you and your brother from an early age of education.

02:18:52
Speaker 19: Was very important and just to keep pushing through that there's gonna be Yeah, it's gonna be peaks and valleys, it's.

02:19:02
Speaker 1: Gonna be winters, it's gonna be hard times, but you just push through and work hard.

02:19:09
Speaker 6: But nothing can beat that.

02:19:10
Speaker 2: Having that education you did always harp that one.

02:19:14
Speaker 18: Yeah, I love here and four oh one K and put money in it.

02:19:23
Speaker 1: Smooth, smooth, smooth.

02:19:24
Speaker 3: I love Derek Zerk has zero motion on his face. He just nod said, I don't.

02:19:29
Speaker 6: Have headphones on.

02:19:31
Speaker 1: Oh that's right, Oh, ship, that makes much more sense. I've watched them all this morning, but like, yeah, she's got just like a three second answer put money in the four one K And I just look back at you and you're just still looking down at the computer.

02:19:56
Speaker 18: How would you describe him as a dad? And does it surprise you?

02:19:58
Speaker 1: Time out? Time out? Time out? Did your mom have a video on that one?

02:20:02
Speaker 7: No?

02:20:03
Speaker 1: Did she not do one for that one?

02:20:04
Speaker 2: I guess not.

02:20:04
Speaker 1: Well one in the morning at the again.

02:20:06
Speaker 2: I was about to say, because I saw how long that video was the last one. Yeah, this is how like she sent them through so in her self, reception at her okay, got your house is terrible. So now I'm thinking through and I'm like, ah, shit, like maybe it's all good. Do you remember the advice I actually wrote?

02:20:27
Speaker 1: How about you? You could answer that?

02:20:28
Speaker 2: Okay, I wrote a little thing that I can read at the end that's like a quick little letter to my mom and Jill and the one thing that my mom always hammered into me is never ever quit. She was big on that, like, do not put your head down, do not sulk, do not quit, You power through. If you say you're going to do something, you stick to it. And she was just huge on that, dude, And I like that is one lesson that's still to this day at thirty two years old, I can be like my mom was always saying, no, you told those people that you were going to be at that thing, you go to that thing if you told them that, Mike, And still to this day, Yeah, love it.

02:21:17
Speaker 1: Now it's seven.

02:21:20
Speaker 18: How would you describe him as a dad and does it surprise you at all? He expects good behavior from his dog being, but is also loving with him, so that's promising. Great uncle. The kids always loves saying around him. He was always has always loved kids, so it's not surprising at all.

02:21:39
Speaker 4: The next question about how I see him as a dad and does it surprise me, No, it doesn't surprise me at all that he is an amazing dad and so loving and fun and funny and consistent and keeps her on schedule and Jill is leading the ship.

02:21:59
Speaker 7: On that is the most amazing mom. But it's so sweet to see them. I'm gonna cry. It's so sweet to see them as a team raising her with so much luck.

02:22:11
Speaker 1: Thank you mom.

02:22:13
Speaker 3: Oh, I would have loved to hear Chef's mom break down.

02:22:18
Speaker 2: What kind of dad?

02:22:20
Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, I didn't know the way the question was worded. I just assumed that one was for you, Sherm, So I just said, hey, we'll just move past.

02:22:27
Speaker 6: This improper wording on my part.

02:22:30
Speaker 2: No, this is something that I would.

02:22:37
Speaker 7: Want y'all to know about Sherman. And Sherman is just like the most badass athlete. He is excelled in sports his whole life, and he just had all these His life.

02:22:54
Speaker 4: Has kind of been like Forrest Gump, where all these things happen that just don't happen to other people. But he was asked in high school to on the Dallas Cowboy field to come kick a field goal. He never.

02:23:12
Speaker 7: Practice kicking a filg.

02:23:13
Speaker 4: On his life, and he had on Van Tenny shoes and he nailed it and won a big check for his high school.

02:23:21
Speaker 7: So anything, he's like, maham, I'm gonna do a standing back flip at the beach in the thick sand and just nailed it first time. So anything, he always has excelled at sports.

02:23:37
Speaker 18: On the podcast, he's funny, creative and takes responsibility for his work. But as chill as he seems, you'd never guess he is deathly afraid of spiders.

02:23:47
Speaker 1: Oh spiders.

02:23:48
Speaker 17: Know if your colleagues know that your grandfather was a football coach, was a high school football coach for years, very passionate about football. And I know that he's looking down right now and smiling and so happy for you and so exciting because he was just.

02:24:10
Speaker 7: Passionate about football. This high school, college professional, a Notre Dame, Notre Dame.

02:24:19
Speaker 1: What kind of football coach was he? You can get the real answer.

02:24:25
Speaker 7: Oh, he was tough. He was tough.

02:24:29
Speaker 17: Grabow gym, Midwesterner, Irish Catholic background.

02:24:35
Speaker 12: I mean I was.

02:24:36
Speaker 7: I mean, that was my daddy And I was like, he was tough. He was tough. You just did not but he was. But the kids loved him, do you know?

02:24:45
Speaker 2: He was mean and ship the kids loved him.

02:24:48
Speaker 17: His pastings came to his funeral and we're like, we loved your dad.

02:24:52
Speaker 7: He was so hard, he was so tough, but he was just he was kind of like a big teddy bear too.

02:24:57
Speaker 1: They loved you.

02:24:59
Speaker 7: I know he's looking Jet, Bro.

02:25:04
Speaker 2: We need a camera in the handing household. Borrow, dude.

02:25:09
Speaker 1: Oh, I know he's looking down on Jet.

02:25:13
Speaker 2: I was so bad that we had all been in person deep for these interviews with our moms. Their little energy is unbelievable.

02:25:23
Speaker 6: I my entire childhood up until I moved to Nashville, was in a rachnophobe to like a like a bad degree, like a very bad like couldn't be like if I knew they were there, but like it touched me, feel me insects. Anything's like to a degree where I would fight people for trying to put spiders. Oh, oh shit, bad bro, I've gotten. It's funny to see my mom like have these things. Because she brought up something to Kat the other day. She's like, oh, he's a snooper because she's hid in her wedding dress. I'm like, honestly, Mom, I've changed a little bit, which is fun to like explain to her who I am now, because like, spiders don't freak me out as much. I ain't gonna touch them, like they're not there.

02:25:56
Speaker 1: We can't let we can't let Taylor know these things.

02:25:59
Speaker 6: No, how him flat out because I'm again, I'm overcoming these fears. But if you guys could not tell him.

02:26:04
Speaker 1: That'd be cool.

02:26:07
Speaker 2: I loved her answer too, because of something that I would never imagine of Deeke, truly, a fear of insects, a fear of something like that. I would never think that, for you, Will has stepped off someone.

02:26:23
Speaker 6: Ever leave this set of a show due to the fact that I don't know what he's gonna bring back.

02:26:27
Speaker 2: Oh, he's got something good, He's got something very good. But I would never imagine.

02:26:35
Speaker 6: Okay, well I thought you were going to get you Just look.

02:26:39
Speaker 2: Where's going to little eight legged freaks?

02:26:42
Speaker 6: All right? Two more boys? If you can go back and tell yourself one due at the very beginning of motherhood, what would it be.

02:26:51
Speaker 19: Don't sweat the small stuff, like, don't get anxious and uptight at the little things.

02:26:58
Speaker 7: Just take it all in and.

02:27:02
Speaker 17: Don't get so tight at the small things, is what I would.

02:27:06
Speaker 7: Probably have to say.

02:27:10
Speaker 1: It's really good advice.

02:27:12
Speaker 4: Yes, If I could go back and tell myself one thing, it would be to document more and write down. I did write down a lot of funny things they said and did, and kept a record of things that happened.

02:27:26
Speaker 7: But I wish that I had done more.

02:27:28
Speaker 4: I wish that I had journaled every single day things that were happening, because they were.

02:27:33
Speaker 7: Those moments are just so precious.

02:27:36
Speaker 18: If you could go back and tell yourself one thing at the very beginning of motherhood, what would it be? Everyone always said time flies, and I believe them, but boy does it fly. I try to be present with my kids as much as possible. I would probably say, don't worry so much. They're going to be great human beings.

02:27:56
Speaker 1: Damn, that's awesome. I love that.

02:28:00
Speaker 3: And last time, the moms are ripping, they are, they're cooking.

02:28:06
Speaker 18: What does being a mom actually mean to you? Not the highlight, real version, the real answer. I always knew my mom was here for me no matter what. I want my sons to know, I am here for them always, every day. Anytime.

02:28:21
Speaker 7: I love you, Derek, it means everything. It was the thing I declared the first week of college. You know, that's what I want to be. I want to be a mom. I wanted to be the kind of mom that I had, and I think that's what.

02:28:42
Speaker 4: Inspired me just to she was a teacher and she was so patient and kind and fun and funny, and I wanted to pass that down to my sons. And I don't have any regrets when it comes to that department of my life.

02:28:58
Speaker 7: And I just enjoyed every minute of it. And it's so rewarding to.

02:29:05
Speaker 4: See it now Sherman being the dad that he is, that those the little things that we did, that he's passing them down and.

02:29:15
Speaker 7: It's just really sweet. So thank y'all for letting me share with y'all, and Happy Mother's Day everybody.

02:29:22
Speaker 19: I think unconditional love, having unconditional love, and just trying to be their biggest supporter through the good times and the bad times, especially through the hard times and bad times, and just try to be the.

02:29:36
Speaker 7: Best support person for.

02:29:41
Speaker 6: Your your child.

02:29:43
Speaker 7: And unconditional love. I think that's the best advice.

02:29:50
Speaker 1: M Bravo, gentlemen, and shut out the moms. Shout out, shut out the moms. Listen to this stuff makes me miss mine a lot, but it's very cool to hear your guys' mom talking, your guys' moms talk about you. Guys a lot of similarities, just you know, highs and lows, being there for you when you fall the unconditional part, you can tell you, guys. His parents are like just like fiercely like love you guys. They're obviously very proud and yeah, man, Happy Mother's Day. Happy, happy Mother's Day, big time.

02:30:33
Speaker 2: Call your mom's Call your moms.

02:30:35
Speaker 3: Call your moms, dude, yeah, call your moms.

02:30:37
Speaker 1: What are you about to pull up?

02:30:39
Speaker 2: I have a very quick little letter thing. It was like my lesson of the week, and then we're good.

02:30:46
Speaker 1: Yeah, we give a shout at another again. It's all mother's day, bro.

02:30:50
Speaker 3: It's all Mother's Day.

02:30:52
Speaker 1: Let's and shout out the pet sikos, empty sickos, everybody who's been sticking around for this entire episode. Obviously you're gonna have some work on the editing side, chef, but shout out everybody.

02:31:02
Speaker 5: Yeah, for sure, shout out.

02:31:04
Speaker 1: Great week for.

02:31:04
Speaker 2: Moms, Great week for moms. Thank you moms. This is a letter to my mom, and in the same vein of what will said at the top of the show, when we'll just touch it on again, call your mom, tell her happy Mother's Day, or tell your wife how much you appreciate her.

02:31:24
Speaker 3: I wanted to write a little something to my mom.

02:31:26
Speaker 2: And to my Wifey. Dear Mom, thank you for absolutely everything. Thank you for all the packed lunches, the backscratches, and the no video games for a month punishments that you didn't budget intron you etched in stone a never ever quit mentality for me that shapes me to this day. Thank you for pouring into me, shoving a camera in my hands and telling me at eight that I could go make a movie in the backyard if I set my mind to it. Thank you for always being my props, wardrobe and locations manager and director on every little thing that I shot at the house. Most importantly, thank you, Thank you for showing me what an incredible woman slash mother looks like. Thank you for showing the same love you have for me to my wife and now my child Scarlet. The whole world could think that I'll fail, and I know that my day, one cheerleader will be in my corner with a rousing speech and it don't quit attitude. I love you, Mom. Dear Jilly Bean, it's your first official mother today. Happy Mother's to Day, Jilly Bean. Your mom set a path in a standard with how she raised you that I know feels daunting at times, but you answer the bell every day when I'm too tired. You're a spark plug. When I want to quit, you urge me to keep pushing, and when I half ask it at home, you call me out. And every bit of that has set me now on a path of fatherhood that I can look back on and forward to and be proud of. I have zero worries of the woman and our darling daughter will grow to be. She now has an amazing mother just like you did, that will hold a standard and show her a path that one day will seem daunting to her. But I know, just like you, that she will answer the bell. I love you.

02:33:13
Speaker 3: Happy Mother's Day.

02:33:15
Speaker 1: Beautifully said bro. Thank you well written.

02:33:18
Speaker 8: Thank you.

02:33:20
Speaker 1: Gentlemen.

02:33:20
Speaker 5: Any Yeah, I'll be quick to Mom.

02:33:26
Speaker 1: I know you're listening to this.

02:33:27
Speaker 5: I love you so much. I loved what you said about the unconditional part. I've put you through all there's so much hell, and you've been there every single step of the way, through all the really really bad and all the really really good, and so just know it means a lot. Love you so much.

02:33:44
Speaker 1: Yeah.

02:33:45
Speaker 6: I mean, my mom's awesome. She's my best friend. I miss her every day. I call her every day, thank you for everything. It's been so hard down here without family, and at the same time like talking to her and being chill with her. It's such a beautiful relationship. Through Trace said like he loves to get a drink with his to get a drink with his mom. Like drink with my mom is the best thing ever. I get ripped so hard cracking a bottle of wine. I love them and I wouldn't be here without you. And if the world had our moms, it'd be a better place. It's really cool to be on the show with moms that rip as hard as the kids do.

02:34:19
Speaker 1: So love you. Yeah, Happy Mother's Day.

02:34:25
Speaker 13: To my mom.

02:34:26
Speaker 1: I the way that you parented me growing up helped me articulate and kind of curate the type of parent and dad that I want to be with my daughters. And just again like it wasn't always easy in our household, but the toughness, resilience, intentionality, being fierce and just fucking doing the work at all times running on e I realized that now way more than I did when it was happening. I miss you dearly, and you would have been a You would have been an incredible grandmother. I know you were so excited. I miss all the ship man and happy Mother's Day. I always had this running joke like it would be Mother's Day, we'd go out to eat, and I would just always make the joke when the time comes, I'm going to put you in the home.

02:35:28
Speaker 13: And uh.

02:35:29
Speaker 3: I wish I could still say those things to you, and UH to my wife.

02:35:33
Speaker 1: Charle, you are You're everything. Adventure, communication are areas where I feel like I have uncomfortably grown in because of you. Because you love to see the world, you love to travel. You were the first one to get me to do a vacation longer than four days, and to plan and to think ahead. And you teach me so many things that in the moment are very hard for myself because of how I've been, how I've been conditioned in my own right, just as a as a man, and even communication, like hard conversations, the highs and lows, being there when I fall, sitting and shit with me, teaching me how to communicate. It's helped me. The way that you have loved me resembles that it's been the most love I've ever really felt since my mom, and it's helped me love other people because I see the way you love me, the way you love our girls, the way you love the people in your life has helped me become a much better version of myself. And I know I am far from perfect and feel very undeserving at times for your love, but everything that both of these women have collectively taught me, I love you, guys, and Happy Mother's Day, and I promise I will find a way to get us this picnic because charl loves going on picnics during Mother's Day. We don't get to because we were driving back from Missouri this weekend. But yeah, man, Happy Mother's Day to all of the moms. The work that goes unseen, that is invisible, that has not felt in the moment, and when perspective hits us all, we all realize how much you guys all mean to us and how grateful we all we all are for you guys.

02:37:35
Speaker 3: And I hope you guys have a tremendous Mother's Day. Papa Team six man, roll out the red.

02:37:41
Speaker 2: Carpet, Roll it out man. Earn that golf trip.

02:37:44
Speaker 3: Earn the golf trip, Earn all the fun stuff we're talking about.

02:37:48
Speaker 1: Earn all the fun stuff we talk about.

02:37:51
Speaker 2: Love you fellas, love you guys, love you moms.

02:37:57
Speaker 1: Take out the trash. See you guys next week.
