Yellow card. You can't give me a yellow card year my father. When
I put on these shorts, I'm not your father anymore. Judging by how
tight they are. I'm never gonna be anyone else that's eater you. This
is what I think of your yellow card. Unsportsmanlike conduct. That's a red
card. You're on a game, but ah, another family broken up by
Ronaldo. Yes, four finger discount, dude, welcome to four finger Discount.
When this week we're gonna have to talk talk like this because we're doing
marge gamer. Oh, we're talking like gamers, talking like gamers. Nothing
too long, let's talk about me. That is correct? Yes, and
I'll look there. I'm sure there are gamers who actually have lovely dulcin tones
like you and I. I'm anything but a gamer, but I full respect
for gamers. I used to sit there. We'll discussing before we started recording
here that I once had talking about the new names. Land gets mentioned in
one of the new names, right, and said, you include Land in
one of those new names, because I I yes, And I remember my
thirteenth birthday party. A couple of my friends were like, can you have
a Land party? And I was like I know that means and involved drugs.
Like no, I was like, okay, sure. So then I
get to my parents' place, and of course they've got the second living room
television, the television in my bedroom, the television in my sister's room.
My sister was played enough to let my friends like smelly stinky boys go into
her room. He's a TV. And it was just cables going down the
hall and through the kitchen, under the table and look basically land for those
that underwear. It was basically like the early form of like online gaming,
where you could be playing the same game on various televisions in different rooms,
and it was like mind blowing to me. And I have just full respect
for all my friends who could play because they were playing this game Halo,
right when Haley first came out, so it was about two thousand and one,
and ever since then, I've just it's been so out of touch with
games. I just I can't game. I'm so bad at the first person
shooters to the point where it wasn't fun for me anymore. It was almost
like I could tell sometimes my friends be taking sympathy and like like taking it
easy. I mean, I'm like, oh no, I feel bad.
I'm like, I'm that guy. Everyone's like, oh, yeah, you
know, you can join it. It's okay, we won't shoot you.
And I'm like, ahh, but yeah, that's that's my my memories of
lands, which I'm going to say it stands for Local Area Network. Okay,
I think so, but yeah, we'd better double triple check that because
we might have some nerds going that's not exactly what it's for. My apologies,
I'm going to stop calling you nerds because you know they're not nerds at
all. It's a bill. It's the thing. You're not a lot most
about this episode, even though ad in like two thousand and seven or whatever,
so it didn't go overboard with it. Gamers a nerds aspect, right,
because so many shows tend to do that. We watched, you know,
crime shows like SVU and Numbers and White Collar. Whenever it's a video
game based story, like they go it's rpgmgs. I'm like, they don't
speak like that. They would just say they play a game, not an
RPG. I'm just like, it really shits me. I'll never forget ice
Cube in SVU going Gem Buddy, and I was like, was he making
a guest appearance alongside Iced Tea. I always get ice Cub. Yeah,
sorry, I pretty racist. It is ready racist because it was this quash
Anakonda and he's my favorite character in Anaconda, and that's that's a big call.
Given the John Voyds in it. He I liked. I thought John
was great in his role, but I enjoyed ice Cube more. Yes,
but anyway, nothing but Anaconda. But if you if you about gaming and
how you're yes, you're not good at it. I'm not good at at
either. I was. I was good at Space Invata's Pac Man up until
Mortal Kombat. After that. Were you good at Mortal Combat? Though?
I was okay, I kicked the ship out of it. Could you do
like Fatalities? Absolutely? I could. How awesome was that when you actually
pull one off? Though? It was fantastic. And then when we did
a Fatalities, well that's also great. It was like, please, sir,
this is a this is a family establishment. But it was Local Area
Network and I looked that. You are correct. Yeah, we sound so
old. You're right. LAND does stand for Local Area Net for those who
aren't aware. In twenty twenty four, so for all those playing Nintendo or
maybe even PlayStation. Yes, we'd like to think that we know our stuff.
Yeah, that's why we're certainly not Nubes. What I was saying earlier
is that I don't feel like they were taking the mickey added gamers in this
episode. It was more like a love letter, particularly not the tutorial bit.
It's like, oh, I see he's a rock, you have found
it. Yes, they were ahead of the curb because, as you were
about to say, I mean, gaming is a multi billion or dollar industry.
In all honesty, I was having a bit of a gripe before we
press record. None of you need to hear that clouds were scattering. Yeah,
but I was like, entertainment journalism's deared, the movie industry kind of
sucks now. And the thing of it is, I think gaming has kind
of taken the baton from traditional you know, scripted entertainment and sort of gone
with a bit. Now you can be in the movie. Now you can
be you know, the main character, you can be player one as opposed
to well that Chris Hemsworth, He's fantastic. I wish I was like him.
It was like, well, in this game, you are him,
you can be him. Yeah, I was trying to explain to people how
you know I can earn a living from podcasting. Still to this day,
PEO are like really like hell, what do you mean? And so many
people who used to work with Ford you sort of like laugh at me and
look down at me. It's just the old funny duddy idea of you don't
understand it, so it's just it's silly. But now it's like people starting
to finally realize color global warming. Oh shit, it's real. Oh you
can't make money from gaming and from podcasting all these kinds of things. Thank
god, that's happening just as the world is ending. It's like so many
times my old man or someone will say, what's it? This weather are
so win weird? So where summer? And I'm like, have you been
paying attention? They've been telling you for years it's coming. But I can
also buy into the story that Marge, you know, with her addictive personality,
is established this in the past. Correct, she would very easily be
addicted to a game like this because I love the refreshed, refresh, refresh.
That is just social media to a team, right, you put out
a tweet, You're like, I've want to see the engagement house so much
so it's like, yeah, waiting for that little Well, God, I'm
still using Facebook. Oh someone's lated something that I've said follows on Facebook,
Facebook or complash walking a discame. Oh someone's made a comment about something I
wrote. What did they say? You suck? Oh No, it's like,
you know, send me money something like that. Yeah, oh dear,
I'm getting so many inboxes this week. And I've seen other people who
run pages from guest like Guest two seven zero nine to four. It's like,
Hi, we would like to pay you money to advertise on your page.
We represent Nike and Nesle and Nestle, spot Wrong and things like that,
And it's always the same brands, And I'm like, oh, but
honestly, I reckon. I cantered thirty of them all in a rolia.
I guess no profile picture, just guessed insert number, same message. I
don't want to be terribly pessimistic about, you know, modern technology, especially
after the morning I've had where my engineer kept dropping out and my computer froze,
were in the middle of our subediting shift. But it was a mac
from like Macintoche from like nineteen eighty seven. It was a come a doert
sixty. But you're hearing so much about bank scams and everything like that,
and I was like, Oh, they're only going to get worse, They're
only going to get more sophisticated. All this shit. It's like, oh
no, I've heard my mum nearly gets scammed on the phone once. I
was like, get off the phone, mum before you give him a more
information. But I had a phone call yesterday, two miss calls, right,
and it said from Votaphone. So I caught it up and his Votaphone,
you'll provide it Votaphones' provider, right, And I called it back and
it had the initial thanks for calling Votaphone. We'll put you through to our
sales team right now. And then I did that you know that phone dial
that you can tell is dialing to someplace in India And I was like,
this is weird. And it's like, hello somewhere, my name is Sarah,
PA can to help you. And I was like, I had a
miss call from this number and he's like, oh, yes, we are
from Votaphone sales company and we would like to offer you a new a new
package, I better package on your deal. And I was like, okay,
Cools, the first thing we need is your four digit PIN. And
I was like, ask her, fucking mad, Now, I suggest that
you enjoyed this package. You know what I mean? I said to him,
you called me, you should know my details and he's like, oh,
yes, but I need you to confirm your details so we can proceed.
I'm like, I am happy with my package as well as my Vota
phone deal. So so like you know, if you want to change it
and you offer me a deal, you just tell me what you can offer
me. And he's like, well, I can't proceed util you give me
your name, your phone number, and your date of birth and you foot
dig it pit And I was like, yeah, the fuck out of here.
Yeah, it's standing to raise the stage even where. But like people
like your mum would fall for that, you know my mom, My mom
would fall for that. Yeah, well, my mom's been coming increasingly.
I was about to say, savvy also just grumpy? Is she maybe much
like mister Burns's mum? What when if she's not recognizing numbers, it's kind
of like hello and getting very frosty and all that kind of stuff, and
you know, not being the cheerful water. What if I told her yes,
she'd have to be like, so you are also my son is actually
podcasting? Okay, yes, just well does ladies ever like ask you,
does Dana actually exist? To this day? This is I'm still never met
her. I've never seen her in the flesh. Haven't you never seen Louise
ever? I've never met her. She is real the premise. It's funny.
She said. The other night. We have these friends. We went
out to the party. They play something I mentioned in a while, but
very nice place. His name's David David. If you're listening, shout out
my man, love your house, love your wipe, well loved, love,
love your whole setup. Is what I'm saying. You've got it made,
sir. And the fact that you were taking time out to listen to
four Finger Discount and enjoy it and say to my girlfriend, wow, guys,
show is really good. First of all, calling guy show was great,
just guy and Dano. I still don't like the weed that sounds,
but he actually listens. What's his name, David, David cool to David
to David. Yeah, that's the end of that story. But you were
saying, Louise you're talking about how I've never met Louise, and then that
was just you're leading to that story getting was it getting anywhere? Oh?
No, just that she said the other night. I was like, David
really likes the show. Yeah, what's it like to have a fan?
I'm like, are you fan? Are you? Are you not my fan?
I think you're number one fan. Who would say is your number one
fan? Is your mum? Ors Louise, It's always gonna be your mum.
I think I would say so. Nicola gets me through more now because
I'm with her more than my mum. But I think your mum's always a
number one fans you know. Oh correct, Yes, I would say so.
Yeah, I would always fall back on our mum when we need to.
But yeah, as I was saying, I thought this was really believable
in the sense that Marge becomes addicted to the game, and I love the
whole refreshed refresh and who gett addicted and things, you know, when yeah,
you know you're ship to do around the house, You're like, oh,
but no, Twitter, I'm going to see what's going on the way
and how other people feel about it. And then ten minutes goes by it
and you don't even realize it. Like so many times, I'll be watching
the kids, right, I'll just get the phone up for five minutes,
I'm sitting there and now it's like, are you coming or not? And
I was like, oh, she's been like fifteen minutes and I've just been
zoned out. You know, you've done an absolute margin in front of the
screen. Yeah. Yeah. Also the Lisa and Homer story here where Homer
becomes the referee for Lisa's soccer class. When does that happen in the episode?
It's like ten minutes in? Is it that far in? I've got
at least halfway through a minute. It's like, oh, okay, so
we've got to beat plot. Yeah, okay, Yeah, I don't know
it was that long to be I didn't really. I thought it was in
the episode more than what it was. But I did like the story because
it's always nice seeing Lisa being the bad guy in the situation. Because Rohma
didn't really do anything wrong here when he was like breaking the rules to help
Lisa, you can understand why he was doing that, Yes, correct,
I mean I did appreciate that, Yeah, when he sort of went about
it in a half assed way and yeah, disappointed his daughter. He's like,
well we better shape up. So yeah, he'd learn the rules and
he did the right thing and all that kind of stuff. Yeah, taught
her lesson taught her less And indeed, I mean both these plots, if
you take out the story aspect, they're kind of like, oh, okay,
well we've seen both of these before. I mean when you tend to
put usually when you put Margin bart together, it'll be well, we're doing
something together. Oh but initially didn't like it. It was embarrassed, but
now he sort of came around to see the era of good Way. Ever
though, actually, like me in Margin the Game, I don't think he
ever actually did because we had that episode. I think it was last season
where they went they wrote their bikes together, right, and he wasn't joining
himself and he got embarrassed and then to go away. This one he was
a bit different. I think he was just like it was more t yeah
yeah, yeah right, but okay, So it's a variation on that theme,
and I guess it was the same with Lisa and Homer with Lisa from
Homie're right. I think the gaming plot is maybe what two thirds of the
episode and probably about a third. Yeah, yeah, look, both perfectly
fine. Both the entertaining. I mean I think that were in there because
they had a reason to get Ronaldo in. Ronaldo's guest appearance wasn't like all
that. It wasn't much to it, really. But the thing is,
if Ronaldo's going to come on the show, you're going to make a spot
for Ronaldo to be on the show, You're absolutely Ronaldo correct. I read
online people are saying it's one of the worst appearances ever, and I was
like, it wasn't one of the worst appearances. I mean, he's acting
wasn't great, but it's like it's fucking Ronaldo indeed. Indeed, I mean,
if we're going to we'll talk about that when we get to have private
moments. If you're like, okay, then yes. Now one note here,
one little nitpick I have with the episode, just the show in general.
At this point, it feels like so many of the secondary characters that
we've come to love over the years are just so unhappy. Now. So
you used always been Mo was the unhappy one and things like that, but
like the love Joys in particular, that whole save our trouble marriage save our
trouble Mariage. I was like, what, what where does this come from?
They've sort of like hinted at it and things like that, but to
sort of just openly say we're not happy save our marriage child. I was
like, ah, yeah, it sounds like they're making the subtext text in
a lot of things. I mean, I've if we're talking Nippis, I
certainly had a gripe, which was explaining a joke or letting a jug go
on too long, or though Ronaldo bit. For me, I hate it
when they get a guest star and they go it's Ronaldo, he's won so
many World Cups, blah blah, because our American fans and American viewers won't
know who he is because we don't follow soccer here. I was like,
let me just just say it's Ronaldo and make the fucking viewer do the researcher
don't understand who it is, don't don't tell us. It was like,
hey, look, it's Britney Spear. It's just like shut up. The
injet was still new at this stage. Yes, as they demonstrated sounds,
how do I find out row? Yeah, I've got to go into what's
it Wahoo yippie. I very much thought when I was that scene where March
doesn't have the email, I'm like, this is so my mom. My
mom has email, but she's just useless at it. No, I'm sure
she went on me saying that she's just no good at technology emails. She's
always like Brendan had to open an email. I'm like, thick on it.
I'm but where is on my phone? I'm like, well, if
we didn't have seven thousand fucking apps on your phone. Because she's one of
those people where she's like, my phone, I know where everything is.
I don't want to get a new one. So she hasn't upgraded her phone
for like eight years, right, okay, but she's just been filling it
and filling it and feeling it. She's one of those people who she doesn't
organize anything. So new app just downloads and just go through the home screen.
She doesn't drag it into a folder. So it's just there's no folders
on her phone. It's just you know, when you need to swipe pages
to find the new app, there's like thirty of them. She's just my
gosh, and it's just it gives me a headache. Looking at her phone.
So when margin like I don't have email, I'm like, this is
my mum. I'm just thinking about the early days of the Internet, when
it was like how do I find stuff? And you know that were the
sort of multiple search engines going arou Google and carter Encyclopedia. You know,
do I use Yahoo or something like that? Were you in Carda and Psycopedia
or a Potanica? I don't think I was either. Really how did you
find that information before Google? Probably just Yahoo or just before before the Internet
though, well, but probably use actual books. But in Cartera and Psycopedia
was was a oh there were probably I don't know when Carda sounds more familiar
okay, but probably did. And Carda was like so long ago, and
card was like Google before we had Google. Okay, So I'm glad we
got Google, man, And also being at Google falls over. And the
thing is Google, though, is you don't have to think I mean,
it's amazing. You couldn't live without Google now, because, for example,
Aliot might say to me where the clouds come from? And I'm like,
you know what, mate, I actually have no idea. Let's google it
where I just feel like sometimes now, it'd be nice to just think about
things and I wonder why that is happening or I do know that, but
it's easy if I just have the phone tell me. It's like, use
your brain and find that core little bit of knowledge that you've got stored.
You know it's in there, find it true. But there's a lot of
just yeah, basic every day information is kind of like, well, you
know, I was watching the watching the Tennis with the Lovely Luise last night
and young Felix and you know, now so and so I don't know,
but I know someone who does. Thanks Google, so and it was it
doesn't have a lot of stuff, but there's anything you didn'tok about the episode.
I think I've talked in the past about how letting we're letting jokes go
on too long or explaining them too much. So when Margine that's sort of
the very primitive version of Google Maps or whatever. It's your home from space
or something like that, and oh my god, home is naked on a
hamm Yeah yeah, and he sort of jumps out and he runs into Flanders's
place, Flanders saying, oh, you've made my parents. That's a great,
that's great. Leave it on that leave it on that that's I went,
that's good. Not naked. I haven't Oh what why didn't need it?
I didn't need it. Yeah, that's just oppressing, just depressingly.
I completely agree. So sometimes like you had the joke, you really had
it, and you're you're stuck the landing. It's that kid who gets a
laugh and then runs out joking to the ground. Yes, at a party,
you're like ah, Or when you go to like a pub, I
overget there was this I don't know what you know, I stopping the other
day. Now, Sometimes sometimes you just got these core memories from your childhood.
You don't know why they're so vivid any memory. They're not like you,
terrifying or horrible experiences or anything, but just memories that you have.
And the one I was talking about was we're talking about marathons, right,
and there's a Simpsons marathon called the Simpsons fan Fest, which aired during the
two thousand Olympics right on Fox eight. And I, for some reason just
have this core memory of driving to cry village with my old man and him
buying me two five packs of VHS tips that I can put on long Play
and take the entire marathon. Why I had that memory? I have no
idea now because of that memory, I was going to talk about the start
of that. What was the core memory? What were we talking about the
explaining gags? Was it? Yes? Oh man, I've lost it.
I'm getting no damn your Google. Yes, we're coming to you for too
much stuff. What was I going to talk about and listen? Wouldn't it
be terrifying for new Let's google it. Let's let's see what happened to be
in top with them to Google? Let's go to Google. What was I
going to just say? How to remember something you were just thinking about?
Would you like to know? Yes? I would, But it says yeah,
literally, Google says how to remember something you were just thinking about two
seconds ago about then instantly forgot. Here's what works when you can't remember something
that you're thinking about a couple of seconds ago. Stop what you're doing,
sit or stand up straight and breathe and let's not breathe and relax. I
was doing that now I'm not. It will come to me at some point
in the episode. Oh yeah, you're talking about them just talking down overdoing
gags. Yes, very much the case. I nearly had it again,
I nearly had it as a kid. Ah, it's about a kid.
It's going to come to me. It's a kid though. Simpsons fan Fest
Grand was an Olympics before then though, So basically I was talking about core
memories that just stick with you. Yes, and it's something about a kid.
Oh, yes, I found it. Yes before all right, someone
I was a kid and we finally got their people. That's amazing. How
the frameworks this is a saying. I sat up straight, I breathed,
I relaxed, and iod. Thanks Google. No. So basically, we're
at the pub and we had this guy guy. We still got my uncle
Ean, it wasn't really our uncle, and it lived in Meredith, and
there's that in Meredith for aw you listeners. There's like a pub, a
post office and maybe a milbar. And we're at the pub and we're two
small kids and there was this guy there, this drunk guy, and he
was like playing darts and for some reason he just goes bad. I made
this funny sound and my sister was like slags. I thought it was hilarious,
but they're like ten straight minutes you just get gone bab and I'm like
it was funny. The fourteenth time, but it's not funny, and I'm
just like, how do I leave? And I started walk away and he's
like that like talking about and I was like, I'm getting scared that the
idea of just you said something it was funny. Leave, yes, drop
your mic and walk out the door. But this guy, I honestly ten
minutes just gone. My sister. My sister and I have a gag now,
but sometimes you just go because we don't remember it. But do you
have a core memory in your mind that if I'm not your child, to
where it's just like why is that so vivid? Why did that stick in
my brain? Why? Why can I not forget about this? Oh?
Yeah, there were certainly a few, and I mean some are scary and
some are pleasant to remember. And someone just kind of like, yeah that
happened. Yeah, that's buying those tapes like that, that just happened.
It's just we went to the shop and bot these tapes with this fan facet
But like, what was the why is that so vivid? Yeah? I
remember one day I was Dad took me to Melbourne for something or other.
He was meeting up with some guy that he knew with Jack Dyer would have
been nice. It was Jack. No, it was some business guy,
but not necessarily a high powered business man. It's only just a guy who
sold a bunch of stuff. And this guy had like a few tabletop video
games in Look my phone, lukas Rian, it's a scam. Artists.
Are you getting scammed in real time? Put them on? Hello, Hi,
this is a woman. I'm calling you from Vodafone. How are you
doing today? I'm doing fantastic. How are you absolutely fine? Well,
thank you for asking. The reason I'm calling you is to discuss the offers
and loyalty discount. We have your voters from account. I'll just access the
details to discuss those officers with you. You need some details, okay.
Now before we proceed, I need to inform you this call may be recorded
for Quality training and business book. What a coincidence? Oh when you hung
up? Why did you hang up? Do hear mean? Maybe put someone
else on the line. Oh, I have no idea, but that was
hilarious. You guys, literally it happened. I told you, it's real.
I told you it was real. Oh my god, we're in the
matrix. We're some of the matrix. I was not lying one of my
for dig just need some details made you for digit pin your phone number,
your birth date and your name. It was like, are you giving you
ship? You called me anyway? So anything else want to discuss No,
no, my care memory was actually pretty boring, so let's not go with
that. Let's get into these people. Stonecutters are incredible supporters here on the
four Finger Discount Patreon channel. Of course, we had to start with the

days ago. But it's just been mannic with Jet. I've said it's on
the podcast, but Jet had a couple of sieges last week and just been
to and fro from the vet. You had CT scans yesterday and you're clear
of tumors. But it's just been very hectic the last week here in the
Dando household. But Jonathan Rossi every year sends a Christmas card all the way
from New York. Jonathan Rossi absolute legend. All these guys a nice guys.
Yes, And it's because of Jonathan Rossi that I now owned the Space
Jam soundtrack, because it's one of those things where the guy he's like,
I'm not going to post it to a strike, I'm not going to post
it to nationally. But Jonathan lived in New York, so he posted Jonathan,

Josh Helly out Logan b and James Sheppard. Thank you so much for being
supporters of ours on the Fourthing a discount Patreon Hall of Fame names. Every
one of them my favorite. All right, mister Davis, did you have
any favorite moments on this episode before we skimmed through it? I only had
two, really, okay. I did like that the that Hella loved Joy
turned into a real soccer mom. Yeah, you're as blind. Jesus couldn't
heal you. I thought that was actually not a not a bad biblical burn,
so that was kind of funny. I hate how they sort of taken
the gossiper aspect out of it, because her sort of gimmu used to be,
well, somebody think of the children, But now she's always got a
bit too much sass for herself. Now a little bit she has sass.
In the Pretzel episode, she'll stot the ring leader of the of that group
that was sort of making fun of March, you know, the opposition that
kicked her out. But I don't know, I prefer to see her.
We haven't heard what somebody please think of the children for so long. I
think it'd be nice to want to go back to that sometimes because we do
get a character here, which is one of my favorite moments, going back
to their old school form, which I reallyciated, And it may have been
lost on you because you weren't really offend the early earlier Simpsons, But one
of my favorite moments was Mo gone, what's the matter? Homer and bart
there used to be seeing every episode home would go to Moe's and Mo was
just a bartend. That's what his name. I'm just a bartender. He
was just a button. What's the matter Homer? And he would give him
good advice, where now it's like eh angry had everything where I just thought,
that's why he's got the real MO tight up at the back. But
it was a silly gag, but I was like, like, what's the
matter home? That used to be like this thing, yeah, and the
other thing I enjoyed. I enjoyed Ronaldo because I mean, look, when
it comes to sport, I've often said that I was an enthusiastic amateur,
and I think you could say the same thing about Ronaldo when it comes to
voice acting. I'm pretty sure he learned his lines phonetically, but he went
about it with Gusto, and I appreciated what his lack of polish in the
voice booth was matched by his enthusiasm, and I think his happiness of being
on The Simpsons, and he dubbed himself in the Brazilian version as well.
I should hope he would. I liked Mo as the troll under the bridge,
and I liked the Virgin Mary fight scene because I loved how it was
a almost like a shot for shot take off of the Neo Agent Smith in
Reloaded. Now do you remember when it came out Reloaded? That fight sequence
was huge. I remember everyone was just in awe of the CGI, don't
you can you remember? I do remember? Yes, it was like how
they going to top the Matrix? Now? They were certainly trying their best
because the first one was the bending backwards thing, and this one was like
we've got like a million agures stables. Yeah, and you watch it now
and you're kind of like, that's a bit it's almost a bit too much.
It's a bit of overkill, and by the time you reach Revolutions,
it's like, oh, this is too much. Yeah. I watched Revolutions
once. I think wanted the movies to watch it. But then we had
to do like a class called the Matrix and More. I've mentioned it several
times in this podcast. My English year ten class was called the Matrix and
More, where we just watched the Matrix and did essays on it. That's
all we did. That was the class, right, It's pretty rare.
Yeah, it was pretty rad But like whenever it was time to do essays
on revolution and then one was like a yes, it's like trying to make
up. It's like I don't think they even knew what they were going for
here, so I'm not going to try and decode it. It's just too
much. If they knew what they were going for, they certainly had trouble
expressing it to us. Yes, next question, you there eating the paste?
All right. My first question for you, mister Davis is what is
the date of Marge's birthday? Oh? Damn. Quite a bit of extra
research this one, Yeah, which I failed to do because she said it
was Randy Quaid's birthday. Oh that's right. I don't know Randy Quay's birthday,
so please tell me his birthday is the same day as my NaN's birthday
October first. Oh, okay, will you just see you had up a
hand in this well, but not really have to do the research, but
you're willing to do research. Yeah. And in the Spain version, I
don't know why I remember, because they don't think they'd know who Randy quad
is. She said her birthday was the same day as make Ryans, which
is November nineteenth. How odd it is? Odd? Yeah, your first
question, My first question to you. According to the Goblin code, what
must a goblin remove in the presence of the lady? That's literally my second
question, Hatton years, Yeah, what do you do? What do you
have the press to bring someone back to life? It's a control old second
one alte control over old de alt f five repeatedly, five repeatedly. Okay,
this is why I don't use computer. Uh HESBLA owns what little Dolly
cakes of some kind of cakes? That cakes. I've got here the search
results. When Marge giggled herself, can you tell me any of them?
Uh? Was one of them? Governor March Simpson. Oh yeah, so
it was March Simpson, lieutenant governor of Tennessee seventy two to seven years.
There was also I think an actual March. There was actual margin because there
was Marge Bouvier or there was March Simpson Springfield folk artist from the one where
she builds the popsicle sticks art as well as Oh she wasn't a fake?
What was one where she is mum and pop art? Now that was Homer
when he hits the things. Yeah. Yeah, We've also got Marge Bouvier
Simpson camp Landman alumni directory, which is from the episode The Way We Weren't
Went, Homer and Marge kiss for the first time. I don't remember it,
and no kids correct and we get Springfield. Sorry, Marge Simpson dashed
Springfield Realty from Realty bytes where it was the final line of Heart's appearance and
the debut of Gil Anderson. You did your research, Well, I didn't
really do the research. It just told me, all right, one more
question for you. Which teams were playing opposite one another? In Brighton,
England nineteen eighty five Sussex sort of? Yeah, it was Manchester United versus
Sussington Sussxton, Hamptonshire upon Leith. Okay, yeah, that's an actual tragedy
eighty five crowd. Oh yeah, yeah, you've got some real bad ship
that happened at soccer rides and stadium collapses and all that kind of business.
That was like the big one. You remember that you obviously you would have
been around for it. Yeah. I mean I've heard about it, but
people like thirty nine people died or something. I don't recall. It started
with h the Hazel Stadium disaster. Yeah, so basically there was a fire
breakeout and thirty nine happened to occurred on twenty ninth of May nineteen eighty five,
when mostly juven to Juventus Juventus fans escaping from a breach by Liverpool fans
were pressed against a collapsing wall in Brussels Belgium before the start of the Cup
final between the Italian and English clubs. Thirty one people, mostly Italians,
were killed at six hundred were injured in the confrontation. Moly, Yeah,
craziness. Yeah, there's one where I'm not sure. I don't think it
was that one, but there was some English game where they'll pressed against they
couldn't get out. Remember that when they pressed against the fence and they got
like suffocated. Yeah, that sounds familiar. Okay, it was like a
fire broke out and everyone was trying to get out, but they were trying
to push the fence over. They just got crushed. They couldn't get it
out. Horrifying. Horror. And speaking of horrifying, let's review by the
Gamer. No. So, the original air day of March Gamer was April
twenty second, two thousand and seven, apparently in a couple of days after
the debut of The Simpsons and The Tracy Elman Show. Yeah, with their
short good Night. I've never watched all of the Tracy Elma shorts. That's
one thing I'm going to have to do one day. We should do that,
and maybe even podcasts about it. Was that still a podcast about him?
Why not? They can you go for a couple of minutes each,
Let's do it. And it was written by Jay Stuart Burns and directed by
Bob Anderson. So the episode kicks off obviously there's no no chalk gap,
but the catch gag was the cash gag nation on the headline. Yes,
So the episode kicks off with the PTA meeting's fail your children to get them.
I feel like I'm going to start going to some of these with Ali
going, Oh, they start school in one week. It's crazy, right,
father, time is just you know, when you started this podcast,
Elliott was eighteen months old. He's now going to school. Oh my god,
oh man dear. When I started this podcast. When I started this
podcast, Elliott was still three years from conception. The show's a bit of
a veteran. Nearly nine years old. Wow, right, nearly nine years
of my life's been doing this show. Nine years. Have been sticking with
us. Thank you for all of your support over the years. But they've
sold the Science Department skeleton and have replaced it with the costume Willian and Halloween
costume returns it to the plastic snapcase. The Italian Triple Trip to Italy is
now going to be a trip to Papa John's and they would not be getting
their fifte hred deposit back. Good animation, you see super charm. It's
just sort of looking over. It's gonna just discuss itself. Really, you,
how have you let this get so bad Papa John's. I consense that
I would like this place. I thought I'd go there and be like,
give me the biggest pizza you have. It's a pizza chain and the chain
is it? Okay? Yeah? It just don't know, just screams Dando's
Life, Dando's Heaven. This is the last time I'm going to mention this
because I think you're getting sick of it. But there was that WTF interview
with Bone. We get it, you want to circle joke with I do
I do my new besties but we collect books? Well no, no,
no, But he was talking about how we grew up in this college town
in the US, New Haven, Connecticut, and they apparently have like these
competing pizza parlors and there's this whole like actually, there's more than one ninety
minute documentary on YouTube about New Haven pizza because everyone talks about like, oh
should go, it's got deep just pizza or New Pizza and Best and New
Haven Pizza was apparently like the best kept secret in the world that what was
called Pizza Haven. I don't know, do you remember Pizza Haven? Was
there a pizza where was that in Geelong? I remember Pizza Haven? The
friend was not Pizza Hut, but and Dougie the guy was that the I
thought Dougie was the Pizza Hut guy. I'm certain he was Pizza Haven Pizza
even this could just be like you know sometimes you think, you ever think
that never you're doing is that this? No, that's not the Mezza Haven
was an Australian New Zealand pizza restaurant. There it is there, Pizza Haven.
The lego was vivid in my memory? Remember that? Oh yes,
I do remember that. But I'm pretty sure that Dougie was Pizza Hut.
Was he really? Okay, I'm certain he was Pizza Haven anyway, the
pizza guy, he's what happened to him. He ends up hosting a game
show called Challenger with kids. You watch it and you're like, were you
doing this because of like community service? Because you're clearly not wanting to be
there? Yeah? Well, I mean it's incredible how you certain things get
stuck in your head. I mean Dmi Demid Heydenreich and his sister was like
in a band called Girlfriend, like a girl group. Yeah. Is he
hosted the game show Challenge until he left the show. Yeah. Yeah,
and he was kind of like he was Pizzah, you're right, Dugget the
pizza delivery guy. Yeah, but he sort of parlayed that into a bit
of a bit of a thing. He was on Water Rats and Mcloud's Daughters.
Yeah, he's underbelly. What impact of the rafters Home and Away it
is? Scout, Let's get do get the pizza guy on? Why not?
Let's give it a whirl? Yeah, speaking of right fun fact,
one of our upcoming guests is going to be Tom Libertore from the Western Bulldogs
because he is known for having the Simpsons tattoos. Have you seen the tattoo
he's got I haven't yet. Yes, So he's got the my god,
you're greasy on Homer and then the greasy what's his name? Squeaking voice team
on the other armor put him together. He's a big Simpsons fan. So
Tom Libertore of the Australian football team Western Bulldogs is going to be coming on
the podcast to review an episode going to be here next week. Yeah,
you're gonna doing a classic episode of the Simpsons. Looking forward to that.
Yes, Indeed, Magi Roswell was coming on the show soon as well.
I did see that. Is that just just for you, Daniel? Well,
it's going to be at four thirty in the morning on a Thursday.
Are you up for it? That's going to be just ending. Yes.
And also I'm going to be doing another show with a guy from what culture.
His name is Michael Hamphlet. He's on their wrestling podcast and we're going
to be reviewing another like three AM episodes. I was like, I don't
even buy the asking guy we're going to be reviewing. It's gonna be like
an extra episode The Old Man and the Lisa where she does the Simpsons the
Little Lisa Slurry because Brett he's been hearts on the episode like a wrestling tie
in there. It's a very very exciting guest coming up here on four thing
a discamp. But yeah, Doug get the pizza guy. He was We
had pizza Hut here in Australia and he was like the mass guy. I
guess on the commercials was, and it's like Dugy the pizza guys here.
Yeah, he was like a human Spuds Mackenzie. Yeah he really was.
Yeah, I'm just looking at him here. I'm like, I don't think
we're getting him on the show after I called him that. So Sputs tell
us we will conclude by passing around a sheet on which I would like everyone's
email address. What's wrong? I can't fill out that clipboard. I don't
have email. Oh, mate, you gotta get on the net. It's
got all the best conspiracy theories. Did you know that Hesbella owns Little Dolly
snackcakes? This stuff will rock your world? Fine? I want the wow
or yippie or okay or pooka dooka, whatever it's called. Can we move
this meeting along? I pay my taxes, I expect my orange drink,
Amprodusia. Then we get slach mel Oh why why do we get mail?
What was the fucking point of this? Oh? What actually was the point?
Added nothing to the scene, didn't fur the story, made no sense.
What was the point of it? Ambrosia? What the fuck? What
is going on? Am I losing my mind? Is there something I'm not
saying here? You're not. Now this is terror, You're probably gonna boot
off the podcast. But her voice is Melligan. It's Dan, It's Dan.
Okay, well they is there some Is there something in Dan's contract where
he's like, yeah, I get an extra I get a pay boost if
you know, I do more than no, because he's not the one right
in the episode, he's just doing a tellme to do. I just think
that they just the writers obviously just had a thing for Mal. I can't
wait to get like Matt Salmone or whoever back on the show and be like,
what was the fascination with Mal? What is the deal with Mal?
I just do not understand. Marge then goes online for the first time.
She finds out the weather. I don't have to go outside anymore, and
then she never gotside to shop either. She's shopping online for peppertowel. She
finds sixty six cents. Get in the car. We're going to Pennsylvania.
That's literally the thing you and I have discussed before. Somewhere has something five
dollars cheaper, and you'll spend seven dollars in a feel to get there.
Correct, We're not smart. We're not smart at all. We're impulsive apes,
is what were? Marge has six hundred and twenty eight thousand results when
she googles herself, and all the time she thought googling herself and something else
kind of does. Homer is now naked on Google Google Earth because she looks
up the house refuses. We've already discussed this. Hease planning his parents.
He's naked now. At dinner time, Marge's explaining everything that she's learned by
going online. Same birthday as Randy Quaid and whatnot. And little political joke
here from Lisa. You're the same as Christopher Columbus, discovering something that millions
of people already knew about before. Then she sent everyone an e card on
Saint Patrick's day. This was thisou be what it was like. This is
like the equivalent of poking people. You poke someone and they wouldn't poke back,
and you're like, did I do something I poked? You poke me
back? It's like, hey, how you doing? It's me. But
she's been getting no replies from anybody, so she keeps sitting refresh, refreshed,
refresh, refresh, And it's so true. That's the result. You
know, when you post a meme more. You post something and you get
a lot of traction. Yes, you get so greedy and you get addicted
and you're like, I need to post another thing, And when the next
one doesn't get tracks, and you're like, what did I do wrong?
What was it about this? Well? Why didn't three thousand people like this
one? But then she goes through all the different banner ads, stalky classmates
vote for president when a boat single am racist, And she finds Earthland Earthland
Realms and RPG game and she comes through the terms and conditions just click agree.
It's very much. We don't read the terms of conditions, but Marge,
I can believe it's a composon who would read them. Yes indeed.
Yeah, I mean, oh god, they're just they're so long. Listen
print is so small. Yeah yeah, No, it's just they're gonna get
my infun anyway, it's my mum. Basically, it's like, you know,
she's the kind of person who will hear out of tellermarket just to see
what they've got to say. And I'm like, you know, you're not
gonna hang up. Its gonna be a good deal, but it'soped I'm not
gonna hang up on them. That's rude. I'm like, they called you
a six thirty during dinner time. But my mum and dad they're funny with
like I'm not gonna put my credit card on something. I'm like, you
literally entered your details together, Like they know all your details are online.
You know you've you've bought something online, you're on eBay. Yeah, yeah,
but I don't want them to have it. I'm like, if you've
given it to someone, the whole world's going Yeah, but they just can't
wrap their heads around that, like that. Everyone knows all the information already.
Yeah, it's already out there. Yeah, you're putting a small degree
of trust in the hands of I don't know whoever you've given it to.
It's like, yeah, I hope your firewalls strong enough. Yeah. So
she creates a character though Marge not a woman with bazooms. She gets shoes
that are sensible, body type, olive oil and face other and just looks
like Marge. And then let's roll play. Oh like that that it's very
much. It's very much, yes, but it fit the episode. And
then she says, like a renaissance fair with a chubby couples and she just
walks into the wall. Now, this is a gag that I can appreciate
because when I'm playing games, I'm talking of them and just walking to the
wall. Just that's sort of like the go to visual for like gamers you
don't know how to game right very much? Yeah, just walking to a
war and Grandpa's doing the same thing in real life. Then the Wizard gives
her a quest. Greetings, cleric, will you undertake a quest on my
behalf? Maybe I should run this by my husband. First, things are
more fun if you just answer yes, then yes, hiving me for a
fan mine arduous quests once again, just yes, yes. First you might
fine the almond ale of nux and ore, I see us that wrong?
You have phoned it. And then Marge is instantly hooked and she goes to
cook a stew and needs more goat sole and she's been up all day and
Bark visits that it's been up all day and night. That was funny,
that's not saturday. Barke goes to play golf. Marge then needs some sleep,
but she's addicted. She can't sleep, and I think we've all been
there, right, You point me like I should probably go to bed,
but just one more, just one more? Oh yeah, absolutely, just
one more YouTube video or for me, mean it's less computers and were like,
oh, one more episode of this show. Yes, yes, hashtag
now watching your podcast? Oh not a bad idea. Sman is already now
watching podcast? Probably yes, but Marge, yes, I said, she's
hooked in the game. She's playing it a lot, and she finds a
poo is playing the game as well. For some reason, I watched this
the first time last week and rewatch it today. I thought there was more
characters in the game, but I like that there wasn't that many, because
it would be a bit unrealist that everyone in Springfield is playing this. Absolutely
yeah, yep. So she finds a Pooh and then she finds Snake,
who is prison guardsing that he's on the law degree. Then missus Kay,
matter where she is, she's sexy. Ha Medieval is always a little bit
sexy. I think she's my cartoon crush these days, he's your cartoon crush.
Oh gosh. When I was a kid, it was Jessica Rabbit,
but now it's Missus Kay. I would I would say Velma from Scooby Do,
except more like the live action filmas Linda Garden, they've made Veilma weird
now Yeah, and also yeah, the Mindy Kaling Filma is just apparently not
good and that big giling enchantress is missus Cobble. This game is a great
way to meet eligible man who can afford a computer access to one of the
school library. It's amazing how you can be a turkey in every reality.
What's important is we're talking. I'm oh, I'm playing this while I'm on
a can Wow, Ma, you're a troll. No, my character is
supposed to look like me. Why does everyone keep thinking I'm a troll?
Who are we hiding from this shadow Night? Where he rides death? He's
sure to follow the Shadow Night. He's the most evil, destructive player in
this game. He once beat me to death with my own life bar.
Everyone's just hiding. Then he kills Principal Skinner with his flame sword or whatever
it's called, and who then eats it because he's good and moist. Then
Marge, she says, I can't watch this. This is just weird.
So she overhears bart Is the is the Night King, and she's very very
proud of him, as she would be. Yeah, he's running the show.
The thing is though, in this game, so this is based on
the world of warcraft. In those kind of game, I'm assuming when you
die, you just respawn. So why is that when someone dies in the
game, it's like they're dead. Like when Marge died let him every side,
I'm like, did she not just respawn white of them? Yeah,
I mean this is the thing. I mean, she clearly well, she
seems like she's very cluey about the game getting better at her she goes along,
so you think she'd know about respawning or just restarting or whatever. I
mean, I can understand if Skinner was kind of like, oh, I'm
dead. I guess this means I can't play this game anymore. Yeah,
just a bit of a clueless oldly when it comes to the video, not
unlike you and I. Yeah, but you think that Marge would probably understand
a bit more. And this has just been playing of course. Yeah.
But the next I come back from commercial Shadow Night, he's really really tired
Lady Milhouse, who has a spell on him which the Shadow Night hasn't reversed
yet. He says that, you know, he's just trying to be his
helper. Then Marge arrives and I've got here. She got into his castle
pretty easy for someone who's trying to be secretive, but she says, the
millhouse is pretty it's a spell and thank you. Then, but I like
this, How would you like it if I came shopping with you? I
mean, I think we could all see that one coming. But it's still
I like the way Julie said it. Yeah, we're now at Moe's or
the Moe's equivalent in Esthland Realms. So why is the Margee being a Bart
in the even in the game because he knows? Yeah, but the Shadow
Night says, squeeze the blood from the pixie head and hit yourself with this
mace, reciting the Goblin code. Then Mark Marge walks in and embarrasses Bart.
I assumed that the whole thing was going to be that no one knew
who the Shadow Night was, and then margor accident revealed it at some point,
But he just like takes off his mask because she walks and says,
hey Bart. I'm like, oh, so everyone knows it's Bart again.
But I guess the thing is they can't do it because his character was so
powerful regardless of who's running the show. That the way, it doesn't matter
if it's a kid. I had to wait until his energy was was depleted.
Yeah, home and then sees so now after second at home and then
sees less addressing for soccer. Yeah, so it was a fair way into
the episode. Yeah, conscious about you shouldn't a about the boobs. She
says she watched bend It like Beckham. I've never seen Benda like Beckham.
I don't think. I think I've only said it once. It's perfectly nice.
Yeah. It was big at the time. Oh yeah, very big.
Yeah, but I think every like everyone was jumping on board the key
a nightly train. They were so to speak, every five to ten years.
It felt like ee, like five years. It felt like a big
British movie came around. Yes, the first one I can remember that really
took off from in my ear. It was The Full Monthy. That's the
earliest one I can remember that was really like big. Then it was like
Bendall like Beckham, and Billy Elliott was huge as well. Billy. It
was very big. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, well one other ones have
come around Snatch, oh yeah, well lock Stock before that. Yeah,
something that I've put one of my contenders in the upcoming movie Guys sweepsakes of
course, four Weddings in the Funeral, which was very big back in ninety
four. It was the British It is holy shit. Didn't realize that certainly
is That's one of the ones that I've always just had on my nicol and
I will enjoy this, I know we will. We'll watch it one day,
but at the moment, we're getting through all the action movies that I
want to see when I was a kid. So it finished like as I
wa washing it. What's it called the equal Equalized? Yes, because apparently
part two is okay, Part two is not bad, and part three is
pretty good as well. Is that part three? There's a third? Are
you kidding me? I'm not shuting you. Yes. I was blown away
by how violent it was, though I was fucking not expecting this. Oh
yeah, they're very, very brutal. I could not believe. I was
like, oh, so John Wick just ripped this off, right, Yeah,
I think they were ripped off. Taken, Yeah, we see,
Taken wasn't a violent though probably Taken was, Like I mean, taken,
is that the maker of I have a particular set of skills. That's true.
It's violent, but not necessarily bloody. And it's just very much like
John wicklock we were saying, Taken's just like they've kidnapped his daughter. That's
what you need. That's all you need. Give us an inciting incident and
then just let the mayhem happen. Taken is awesome, Right, I'm not
wrong in saying it's an awesome movie. It's pretty good. Yeah, I'm
not what it's supposed to be. Yeah, I mean they're stretching it by
doing taken To and Taken. I mean it's like, take the one I'm
talking about, Taken one, yes, take the rest of the movies out
there. Taken To is like, oh, you've done it again. Ah,
someone else take it then the first time I'll announced the wife. Ah
see Taking Force coming out? No, No, I'd be excited for what
they should make it and call it taken for granted. Yeah, that's the
thing. Are you a fan of that? Using the four or the two
in the title? No? And quite frankly, a good friend of mine
on john Wick Forever, that's how long a fucking goes for good friend of
mine on Twitter, as as his bios. If you spell seven. You
know how seven with the seven is that if you actually spell it like that,
putting you on a watch list. That's the thing. Seven the number
does not look like a V. No, so how did Why can my
brain read it like that? Then it's just weird. I guess could have
seen the number, but I'm like, that doesn't ever look like a V.
Yeah, just because of that Dannward's diagonal line, I guess. But
yeah, it's put it's pushing it. But no, I'm not a fan
of yeah putting the putting the number in the thing or anything like that.
No, I don't like it. I want I mean, apparently they've started
filming Tron three. Uh, and you know they had the sort of a
logo up for three. I'm probably gonna try and bring that back to the
millions time. Yeah, but the logo had t U three in It's like
that's that doesn't make sense. That doesn't make sense a trend. Yeah,
it's like I suppose the three if you do it certain way, it looks
a bit like a zero. But no, no, let's not do that.
Let's not let's not do it self conscious about your shins. Right day,
girls were worried about your boobs, dad, I'm going to play soccer.
I fell in love with the game when I saw then it Like Beckham
father, I am proud of my cultural heritage, but I also love soccer.
Tell him, Jazz Minder, I forbid you to bend attract Beckham.
Plus, you must marry this complete stranger. His father is an important business
acquaintance of mine. Love counts for nothing, you tell her, mister Dunnaby,
business contacts are more important than love. Wait, dad, sucker,
we always called it human football. Would you like me to take you to
your game? You already promised you would. Oh do I have to?
Then? Krusty is the coach of her team. He says, there's going
to know ref. They've canceled, So the whole game is canceled, and
Homer overhears that kids share their snacks with the ref. So he puts on
his foot locker uniform because he's been fired. He's warning the uniform. Homer
then hits the flag. Guy, i'm your father now, basically just him
being not a very respectable jerk aus Homer. Yes, He rips his shirt
off and his sports bra vomits in the cone. This is very angry.
At him for a good reason. She said, you're turning my new thing
into and you turn it into a joke, and not the hilarious kind of
joke, as she says. And she's disappointed but not surprised. Meanwhile,
in Earthland realm Marge is going down the bad path and she comes across mister
Burns, who's like a big premantus or something. He's looking for a Wall
Street online and then she comes across the bullies who are about to kill her,
but the Shadow Night Bart kills them. Well, well, looks like
something's finally about to happen in this game. Just in time. I was
about to go to the priory barn side to get design ideas. It's a
shadow night run. I forget how to do that controls. Thank you,
barn. This frame grab is going on my coffee cup. You guys want
to meet it to quickie mart I'm in the tub right now. I'm in
Denmark. Meanwhile, Homer is doing now doing well as a soccer coach SOCA
referee. You know, he's taken Lisa's disappointment on board and he has learn
the rules and everything is Lisa's very impressed. He's watched hours and hours of
soccer and you almost saw a God. I'll never get tired of those jokes.
I mean, you watched something when I was in England. The World
Cup was on, Well it was at the World Cup, Yeah, the
Women's World Cup, and like they get so excited over it, like nothing.
Oh, I like, and I know it's not nothing. English listens.
I'm not saying it's nothing, but I was like, we're so I
used to watching Australian rules football where it's happening all the time. There's always
something happening, and they're just like go to the note and I'm just like,
there's nowhere near the fucking there. Yeah. I mean I think like
most Australians, we watched the Matilda's last year and I think it was a
lot of last year. Yeah, a lot of For a lot of us.
It was our introduction to watching women's soccer, watching soccer in general.
The World Cup two thousand and six was the big one. Yeah. I
remember being in a nightclub mate and everyone in the nightclub was watching him,
Like next week we are not going to watch soccer, but right now everyone
the nightclub like dropped. There was like football games when the Matilda's are on,
like the AFL was on at the same time. They literally had an
extended break and put the game on the big screen for MCG. Like.
But I remember two thousand and six when they show got into the World Cup
for the first time. It was huge. Man, Maybe just because it
was the right I was the right age. I don't know. Oh,
I speaking for myself certainly, watching the Matildas last year it was like,
oh, this is their time we've actually sort of really sat down and watched
the whole game was like, hmm okay, yeah, stuff's happening. Yeah,
this is not exactly a thriller minute. It's more like a thrill every
five minutes. Yeah. Also, I don't quite understand the rules either,
which doesn't help, apologizes to all our soccer or football official. Yeah,
but I like to get Jessica love Joy here. We haven't seen her since
I don't think. Yeah, but yeah, say that troubled marriage and Lisa
then trips over her own feet. Homer calls a fowl, and Jessica Lovejoy
and Helen love Joy goes ape. Shit, admit it, I'm a spectator
addressing a player, and so me. She yells at Homer, she drops
the j bomb and he throws them both out of the game. I hate
that. There's I kind of like turn the love joint like a cuck,
like you know, it's just like you know, he just sort of it's
become amost like Skinner and missus Ka Skinner and Agnes almost where he's just like
yes, yes, yes love just like no yeah love. Joy used to
sort of have a bit of saste, a bit of mojo about it.
Yeah, yeah, but what was the episode the Listen Lady one? Yeah,
where he had to save the day? I remember at the end with
the baboons and all that, because Slanders gets gives Flanners some bad advice.
But Lisa then Lisa gets the idea, oh he's thrown them out. Maybe
I can use this to my advantage. Oh yeah, I mean it's always
it's always good when Lisa who Yeah, as we said, generally the moral
sort of compass of the show. So yeah, it goes a little skew
with Yep. She takes a dive. Every other kid must pay her a
dollar, and he says to clear us that your kids a dirty player and
says, I'm to take this from any Hillbilly Hill William to you. So
then Ronaldo arrives and he says he travels the world now exposing floppers. Lisa
is a flopper, you heard Heraldo, So he gives Lisa the yellow card
and she's like, you can't do that. You're my father. He says,
well, these shorts on, I'm not your father anymore, and given
how tight they are, nobody else is either. I'm not gonna be anywhere
else either, and then she rips up the card, so he throws her
out of the game and Rinaldo red carters. Yes, of course, he
throws her out. Yeah, and Ronaldo is proud that he broke up another
family. Bart then finds his trophy room, which has been given the Hello
Kidney expansion pack treatment. I like the faith it was an expansion pack.
I am a fan of the term expansion yea. But this is where he
starts smashing it all and accidentally kills Marge with his mace. So planned to
see with the mace earlier with Mo, and he excellently killed March with him.
Marge is now annoyed in the real world, and Bart explained that you
know, you know, anyway, I wasn't and joined the game anymore because
you were in there. Then Lisa and Homer arrived home. You ruined my
life. It's funny. Nicholas sister. Her daughter is six months younger than
Elliott, so she's like five. I think there's just turned five. Apparently
she's just like they started school earlier in English, so she's already started school
and she's only just turned five. That's like young, right, what they're
smarter than I. I don't know they understand socker, but she said something
on the lines of you're ruining my life, and I'm like, kid,
you're five. You have plenty of under on your ass. You do,
indeed, but by jumping Johnny Cakes, there was Dames of Cheese and I'll
never understand Heim if I lived to be forty, and that probably isn't gonna
happen. Enjoying my lasts. But then he goes to watch Homer smash on
beers at Mos and we get them the moment I discussed earlier with what's the
Matter, which doesn't really make any sense, but I appreciated it. Homer
then brings Lisa a DVD to try and mate do and apologize, and there's
a BBC doco in cooperation with a canal plus I believe so, although he
puts the French pronunciation on it loosen and it's about the nineteen eighty five Soucing
Crowd tragedy. Twenty years later, they're still going on. They still fired
and get the Virgin Mary stature coming to life and bet everybody else as well
in pure disgust. It's basically where Lisa realizes, oh shit, you know
I've done the wrong thing. Meanwhile, Bart brings Marge back to life in
the game as best as he could, because she's still got It's kind of
like a is it minotaur? We got legs like a horse. Central Centaur
Centaur. Yes, this would be a pop culturesque store in marble Coode Minuteaur.
Did you ever go there? I certainly did. I spent a great
deal of money there because they had insane markup, but also a very very
good store. I always have to go down the escalator to get there.
During a New World there was like there were like three different locations. Was
there really? Oh? Actually, I'll tell you what I remember. The
first day I discovered it. Yeah, it was back in like the late
eighty How amazing did we discover a store and you're like, this is everything
I've ever wanted. Yeah, because I mean I was. It was really
just a comic book store to begin with. It was a little one in
some in arcade in Burke Street, yep. And I don't know how I
ended up there. I mean I might have just been walking past and saw
us and said to a comics I'm still there to sixty four Little Colin Street.
Okay, yeah, yeah, it's sill, right because I think they're
in like a third location. Okay, yeah, because I think oh no,
no, no, no, that's their fourth wow. Yeah, because
I wondered they got the markup. Yeah. But oh god. I remember
the first time winning this was like maybe eighty five or so, and I
was pretty into comic books at this stage, and it's like, oh my
god. You know, it was just great. It was like, yeah,
all you sell is comics before online shopping. Yeah oh yeah, yeah,
I mean and sort of pre you know, nerd culture taking over the
world. It's like, oh, this is a special store for special people.
And then I guess, you know, it started getting bigger and bigger,
and it moved to a different location. I think, gone, no,
no, yeah, moved to it was initially on Burke Straight and then
it moved to Elizabeth Street. It was one before Elizabeth Street. Yeah,
anyway, whatever it is, yeah, yeah, but anyway kick our store
at the time, the upshot is fantastic store. Loved it, loved it,
loved it. Yeah. Yeah. The thing is, now, now
that I've worked at a store like that, being pop culture and I've seen
how much shit actually costs, I'm like, I am paying that much for
it? Absolutely, CD. Are you here to forgive me? No?
Oh, but to get that DVD, I had to become a PBO subscriber.
No, I'm paying for crap like American Masters. Dad, I can't
forgive you because there's nothing to forgive BO. You are right to kick me
out of that game. Soccer was making me insane, just as it did
the continents of Europe and South America. Those places are pretty terrible. So
from now on, I'll play soccer for the same reason I study chemistry for
fun. Then the mob arrived to slave art and taking his experience points,
and he threatens to eat their houses in real life. If he does my
miscases, don't give a shit, it'll be are worth it. She stabs
her in the face, and I was like, this is kind of harsh.
Yeah, And like I said, I live in the loft, so
it won't matter. And they beating the definite these own arms. It just
reminded me of Python. Oh yes, getting his arms cut off and everything
like that, and they dance with his entrails. Now, there was in
the crowd Paddy and some were a dragon. I'm not sure whether you saw
them in the background of a shop or whether it's a deleted scene or something,
because it's odd that you would design that the only song from behind so
Patty and some of it, it's like it's with it. You would go
throughout much effort to design that unless there was like a scene with them.
So maybe there was a deleted scene somewhere with Marge with Patty and somewhere as
a dragon. Quite possibly. Yeah, yeah, you're right, Why I
go to all that effort and expense. Yeah. Marge then says that you
know, all these people down one by one, don't you worry, but
says, yeah, whatever, I going to go play outside. I do
think this episode would have been better if it ended with Marge joining the family
at the end, because it was nice sceneing home and playing with Ronaldo and
the kids playing soccer out in the backyard, but Marge is just kicking most
had like a soccer ball in the game. I think Marge joined the film
would have been a better and I think so I would have been more in
keeping with them. What we like from the Simpsons, Yeah, which is
family. Yes, But overall, on yet another enjoyble episode, He's eighteen
not bad at all, not bad at all. Yes, I appreciated the
fact that that didn't go full gameer nerd. Indeed, look, it did
give us too much such m mel but you know which like three seconds still
too much? It's I agree, still too much. What do we learn
bomb, What do you learn from the episode of the Davis that canal plus
is indeed the name you can trust it is Indeed, I learned that googling
yourself has two meanings. Aha. From forward, your name will be all
right. It is time for the Guy Davis New Name Championship. Here on
the four Fingered Discant Network, you can't leaderboard stands at this in first position
we have Philip J. Hawkins on twenty points, Kyle Mile doing clever Kyle
in second position on sixteen points, and Luke McKay. He started again on
twelve points in third position. Take it away, Okay, one point goes
too. Now I'm gonna ask you to do a little visualization here, because
this is not just wordplay but also visual play. They for podcasting. That
is correct, So bracis for a very long description. But the tide is
wow, mom, Oh yes, but it's capital W lowercase. Oh,
capital W, as gamers will know, that stands for what Dan do?
What a warcraft? Oh my god, it stands for it just meant wow,
I haven't gone a crandle a this wow mom? And whoever gave us
this also put the capital M lowercase, Oh, capital M. So it
looks nice. It does look cool, isn't it. Yeah, so it's
it's pretty good. Turn it upside down and you get is it just woe
one again? You get where this probably deserves more than one point. But
still, whoever's gonna take your point and be happy? And it's slick mackay.
He's under the game. Luke, you're already doing so well. You
know, here you go. But it's on thirteen points, so he's still
three points behind, three points behind cover Kyle. That's well, that was
clever. Luke, because that was pretty good. That was indeed three points
behind clever Kyle okay with thirteen Yeah, that makeeem clever, Luke, He's
very clever. Okay, two points four mom Line Gaming. Oh that is
David Mott. I like it, Momline Gaming, very very, very very
good. David Mott with under the two points that puts him now on six
points. What I'm say now approximately, Well, I don't know how long
this episode is going to be after Dano edits out all my waffling, but
about an hour ago we planted a seed mentioned lan what is a sample local
area networks? Wait a minute, got a googod it and three points goes
to Marge on the land and guy did not know who this was. I
did not know who this was, and it was Philip J. Hawkins.
What honestly, again reiterating listeners go on in blind the guy Davis new name
challenge is incorruptible. I'm not looking at whoever's giving us these titles. That's
a great title. It's a pretty good title. So Philip J. Hawkins
is now seven clear on top with five episodes to go. So I don't
know it still happened. You can still catch up to it. Just need
a couple of threes. But Philip J Hawks on twenty three, Kyle muldoone
sixteen, Luke McKay on thirteen. Remember you want to be part of the
Guy Davis New Name Championship. Just got to be a supporter of ours on
page your name when the leader board you entered the wild card draw for the
end of the season. But now it is time for some mail bag mail
bag bail. First question if from Andrew JP, what referee slash umpire controversy
has stuck with you? For me, it's the not six again call in
the twenty nineteen Nral Grand Final potentially cost my Camber Raiders a drought breaking premiership.
We don't remember that because I don't follow and they're up. But there
was one, the big one when you were younger growing up for football was
remember when the ball got smacked back in It was Collywood Culton and the ball
was clearly added bounds and the player punches it back over and the guy grabs
the kicks gold wins the Grand Final. It's like that ball is about three
feet over the boundary for AFL. I remember there was like it's always like
when it's a close game, it's always blamed the umpire, the umps.
It's like everything happened up to that point doesn't matter though. It's just that's
that's the reason they lost. You know what a big referee decision that can
you remember anything? You don't A very big sport guy the way, Not
really, No, I mean I actually I've got to say though, I
gained a new sort of respect for tennis umpires. I mentioned the list because
you watched the tennis show that way, you think also tennis, you know,
watch Breakpoint on Netflix? Good show. But you know, am I
saying the reason you're watching tennis more now you're saying to me off the edd
that you're watching the show more than you usually have is because you watched Breakpoint?
Do you think you think it's rotten often? And I think that's got
something to do with it, certainly, yes. But I am finding myself
enjoying the Australian Open very much, to the point where the lovely Luise and
I and family went up to the Open itself last Friday. I think,
begin me ruffling. It's my dog Jet just rubbing his face on the floor.
Will you calm down, your old boy tactile animal. He's really enjoying
allergies, and he's got a war on his head that's exployed. He's got
medication four, he's got skin allergies that he's on medication for. He's got
CT scans on his brain, humors your CT scans in his pancreas. He's
got arthritis injections. Holy moly, he's fallen apart the old boy. He
is the very definition of a good boy. We love jet But Yes explained
that the referees for the for the tennis, yeah, or umpires or whatever.
I wonder if they're referees or umpires, but it's like, oh,
yeah, you've got to sort of well literally have your eyes on the ball.
But I mean, because there's so much dispute about I'm pretty sure that
was in. I'm pretty sure that was out, and you know, you've
got ahold of video saying close call and then they'll sort of show where the
ball actually look like that's not a close call at all. So I don't
know, I mean, I don't recall any yeah, really egregious umpiring decisions
or referee decisions that you know, cost someone a victory or whatever. But
I know I first think, I've got a lot of respect for people who
are trying to keep the peace on the field or a court or whatever.
So yeah, shout out to referees and umpires. I've been watching the cricket
a lot lately. There's been a lot of test games on in Australia and
because you need you have had trouble sleeping and you need under put your sleep.
No, no, I love cricket. Ali, it's really good at
cricket actually, which is cool. But the thing is the umpires now they
make so many mistakes. I just don't understand what's the point because now they
just reviewed a decision as like the umpire was in correct reverse and I'm like,
then what's the fucking point, Like, you know, if we've got
the technology now to see whether it actually was out or not, then besides
tradition, what is the actual point of having an umpire. Let's just have
robot mPire. If you think it was out, okay, they have reviews
and you can get like three reviews and if you get it wrong, you
lose a review. That's right, you keep your reviews right, That's where
it works in cricket. But it's like if it's if we can work up
it actually was out, let's just do that. If you're going to have
a human, they have a human there. And just like gold umpires in
in AFL, like they would say, oh, we're reviewing to see what
it was touched on, and it's like, what's the point. Yeah,
just you know, don't have an infrared thing between the gold posts. Like,
yeah, that definitely went through. Anyway, enough about umpires. Thanks
Andrew J P. Sorry we didn't answer you a question. And Astley,
A lot of people refer to Brazilian Ronaldo as Fat Ronaldo or o g Ronaldo
due to the emergence of Portuguese superstar Christian Christiano Ronaldo Ronaldo. Yeah, what
is your opinion on the term og? Personally? I hate it. I
thought it was original great, which would be fine, but apparently it's original
Gangster. It is indeed, yes, because one of my favorite albums when
I was a young man was Og Original Gangster by iced T. But no
OG was a fucking red album. I mean I really loved it. Yeah,
and that was the first time I heard the term og. Okay,
and yeah, it's I love how it's sort of become part of the vernacular
in a lot of ways when you're should not referring to the Offspring's original prankster.
Actually, that's a line in the in one of the songs on Original
Gangs because he's making fun of Oprah or something. Then he's still doing an
Oprah boys saying he's not your everyday tape prankster. It's like, no,
I'm olg the original gangster. It's like, oh dope, his skinny little
white guy walking around going yeah, I'm the original gangster. I just remember,
like the Offspring when I was younger, just felt like they were just
these white guys trying to be like cool, like that original Presce song.
He is like, you know what spells like ship? Only like a little
eight year old way. You're like, yeah, pretty fly for a white
gum. Yeah, my friend's got a was it? My friend's got a
job? Note, but why didn't you get a job? It's only that
something will just go viral for a day and a couple of days ago.
I saw Harrison Ford trending like three days ago, and my heart stopped for
us. Oh yeah, I'm almost I'm amost kid. IM gonna wake up.
And Christal Walkan's going to be dead. It's like, oh man,
I mean you wake them sometimes, like what Raylely would have died what not.
But you know some of these people are getting older. It's like,
oh, you know, one day you're gonna wake up Michael Caine did at
ninety one. Fucking hell. Yeah. That's how I felt when Betty White
was gone. I was like, oh she nearly got to one hundred and
ninety nine. Damn Yeah. Anyway, yes, changing, oh yeah.
So many people putting up the clip for the Alien Anthem cover of Smooth Criminal.
Why I don't know, because it's like dumb. There was that guy
in the background. Oh now, yeah, there's the base who's like a
really heavy set who sort of likes like the lead singer from smash Mouth,
just one of those he looks like he's from Insane clam Possy Yeah yeah,
but he's just really getting into it, and they're all into it. It's
fantastic. And I remember back in the day I thinking, God, this
is just trashy sort of frat rock or something. It's it's actually a pretty
kick ass cover. It's a kick ass cover, you know it. It's
got it. I've got the monkey in there. The sort of a poke
fun at Michael Jackson's and bubbles and you've got a little kid doing all the
my in a pro wrestling ring, which is huge at the time. Yeah,
it was like, oh yeah, that's right, two thousand and one,
you know, September eleven, not would stand make the bad touches.
I believe Blood Hand Gang. Yeah, Oh my gosh, yeah lot.
I've said this so many times, but my theory still stands up. It's,
you know, the Bellock theory of like you take something worthless, you
bury it in the sand for a while, you dig it up and it's
like, now it's priceless. Yeah yeah, Blood Hand Gang and Italian Farmer
now the ship. My kids now love. Speaking of covers, their favorite
song at the moment is hey Bee beadj what a fuck and sing along that
it's now become a song at the crowd chance at the cricket So I can't
wait. You want to the Elliot's first cricket match next Friday, one day
Monday match Australia West Indies, And I can't wait for like eighty thousand people
singing Hey baby, that's gonna be very very good. Just a couple more
questions and we'll get out of here. Chris Clark, I know you aren't
big gamers, but is there any DA game you've played or seen that you
think really transcends being just a game for kids? For me, that game
is Portal two. I'll have to find a game for kids. That's a
good point. I mean what I from what I understand, Red Dead Redemption
is kind of interesting or GTA is like the game and GTA six have had
the trailer come out recently, and like that just seems to be the game.
I honestly call me crazy, Guys, I've never played GTA. I've
never played it. Oh yeah, that's right. Sorry, I was thinking
of like, for a second, I was thinking Grand Arisma, which is
a racing game. GTA is like the one man shoot hookers and stuff.
Correct now, fun fact, the guy who you apparently buy guns from,
like like the main store or something you buy guns from voice by Jim Cummings
for real, because Jim's like nephew. Once he's like, did I spy
a gun off you? And he's like, I don't think. Somebody's like
did you voice his character in GT? And he's like maybe, and he
did? I remember that. Oh boy, what is your favorite Andrew JP
question? That's from Andrew Swan? Also back up, what is your favorite
Andrew Swan question? This one? Well, I mean I did give Andrew
JP a shout out in the in calling for Malbourne submissions, so I think
he deserved it because he is our He's our main male bag man. Yeah,
Andrew Swan's our man helping us with the Fortiguuscant discord, which'd been going
on there daily now. So if you're not following us on discord yet,
make sure you do so. He can only be part of the main group

up all night or at least way after you usually got a bed, games,
movie, TV series anything. It's just the modern binge watch now,
isn't it very much? So? Yeah, yeah, I think the last
one for me it was well, watch an entire series one go maybe a
Stranger Thing season four? Oh yeah, that doesn't sound about it, right.
Yeah, that's that's the kind of show that's like, oh, just
one more and then then you look at and go, oh my god,
this next episode is like two hours long. Yeah. I when I get
to the end, I was like, I watched this much. Most watched
the end. I wasn't like a huge family. I was like, it's
one of those shows where I'm like, I feel like I just have to
watch it. I always feel like it's one of those shows where it's like
I keep forgetting how much I do enjoy it. Like there's there's been such
long gaps between each season, and then you get there it's like that big
that last gap was too big. Yeah. Yeah, but it's like,
oh, I keep forgetting that this show. You know, it's oh,
we're eaties nostalgia and kids and stuff like that, and then you realize I
don't really go for the gusto. When it comes to the gore and the
violence, it's like, yeah, good, getting worse and worse, isn't
it, I mean like as in more violent. Oh yeah. I remember
watching season three and thinking, oh, this is gruesome. Yeah, the
season four is even the next level. Yeah. Brian Hughes who was the
who's been the worst celebrity guest star ever? And why is it Ronaldo?
That's not correct, Brian, Can I remind you that we had Andy Dick
a couple of weeks ago. Yes, that's true. It doesn't matter what
the fucker said. Him being on the show was just confusing at best.
Yeah, that's the best way to put it. Why why was he there?
Why was he there? So weird? Josh Hallie Hamilton says, obviously,
I know you guys follow football, but do you also follow normal football?
Soccer and doesn't have much of a presence in Australia. It's getting better,
doesn't have a huge presence. I feel when the World Cups are on,
it's huge. Everyone's talking about it, but it's one of those things
where it's like the hot it's not the hot thing at the time, but
it doesn't have really sort of like it's growing. If you follow it,
I'm sure you feel like it's growing, but it's nowhere near on the level
of Australian In Australia, it is gaining ground, yeah, I mean,
as we mentioned, the Matilla's certainly did a lot for it. Yeah,
but there is a team in Queen's Park Rangers. They have a similar uniform
to Geelong. They have like QBR light blue instead of dark blue. So
my uncle follows QPR. That's what we've got formed. For Christmas, we
got him a personalized QPR moreover in England our top and brought it back from
his Christmas present. But yeah, QPR, I guess I guess they're my
team. But anyway, thank you guys for all of your questions here on
the mail bank. Don't forget Simpson's Mailbak at gmail dot com. This has
been our review of March Gamer. The next season eighteen episode we shall be
reviewing here on the show will be The Boys of Bummer. Now. I
remember this episode when I rewatched it a couple of weeks ago, being quite
just me mean spirited for the sake of being mean spirited, which I'd never
like. You know, Bart ruins a sporting game and the town hates him
for it. It's a take on how we when someone's playing well, we
love them as soon as they make one mistake. It's like you're a West
person in the world, which we can probably relate to you in Australia because
we do love that sport. And we do. We build these athletes up
like their heroes, but the second I make a mistake, they're just the
West person ever. But anyway, the Boys bum will be the next season
eighteen episode. Don't forget we're going to be doing We've got plenty of coming
guests like Tom Debatoure, which is gonna be a really interesting chat, don't
you think I reckon so absolutely, he's gonna want to talk to you about
your dad therapy ses. All right, guys, think again a free suport.
Don't forget. Rate and reviewers on Apple Podcasts and Spotify leave us a
few kind words as well. Chuck as five stars. You can suppo us
on Patreon links in the description of this pod, But for now, Asadavis
an final words for those incredible listeners out there, Well, like the Shadowy
