<v Speaker 1>We are very much back and it is very much <v Speaker 1>the lapsed fan wrestling podcast, the Colosseum Collection. You're rubbing <v Speaker 1>those hands together absolutely getting that fucking tape sound laid down. <v Speaker 1>The people need it. The people need to open the clamshell. <v Speaker 2>Oh I can, I can. I can picture in my <v Speaker 2>mind the warning coming up. That's where it comes from. Yeah, yep. <v Speaker 1>Firing up the Colisseum Collection for the first time in years, <v Speaker 1>I figured it was time to isolate that sound that <v Speaker 1>made me remember what it was like to prepare for <v Speaker 1>these episodes, and so uh fucking great. <v Speaker 2>I mean, you know, they're really because you know, what's <v Speaker 2>so great, even with a crappy one like this, all right, <v Speaker 2>what's so great is that you don't know what you're <v Speaker 2>gonna get, yes, and so you're. <v Speaker 1>Excited because you're almost scared, Yes, exactly. Yeah, you scared <v Speaker 1>renting a VHS tape of a wrestling era that you <v Speaker 1>weren't familiar with, absolutely, and you were scared that it <v Speaker 1>was going to be like not entertaining or like. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, or I just I was just gonna kind of <v Speaker 2>like sit and yeah, no listen. I had I talked <v Speaker 2>about this, I had I had to talk myself into wrestling, <v Speaker 2>into burning wrestling tapes that I wasn't, you know, I <v Speaker 2>had to figure out something, you know, even any any <v Speaker 2>of the like I never wanted to watch even when <v Speaker 2>I was a kid, Even though when I was consuming <v Speaker 2>wrestling like pizza I was, I never wanted to rent <v Speaker 2>like Summer Slam eighty nine, right, I had no interest <v Speaker 2>in it. Like I was like, I don't know, this <v Speaker 2>doesn't seem right to me, and like the main event <v Speaker 2>even seemed weird. I was like Hogan and Beefcake versus <v Speaker 2>Savage and Zeus, Like what's a Zeus? <v Speaker 1>And especially considering by the time we came around, Beefcake <v Speaker 1>was so far down the card. <v Speaker 2>He wasn't even on the card when I started watching. <v Speaker 2>He was fucking home. He was home fixing his face. True, <v Speaker 2>you know, the first time I saw Beefcake, I had <v Speaker 2>no idea who he was. All I knew was that <v Speaker 2>in that book of Good Guys and Bad Guys of Wrestling, <v Speaker 2>Beefcake was labeled as a heel, as a bad guy. <v Speaker 2>And so when when he all of a sudden showed <v Speaker 2>up on that Saturday's main event, I'd never watched a <v Speaker 2>tape with Brutus Beefcake before in my life, in my <v Speaker 2>life by the time that February ninety two, Saturda Night's <v Speaker 2>main event happened, and I was like Beefyick's friends with <v Speaker 2>whole Covin, Like, what the fuck he's a bad guy. Yeah, <v Speaker 2>I didn't know they could change, Like to me, they <v Speaker 2>couldn't change. They're in the book saying that they're you know, <v Speaker 2>obviously this is their this is their choice for life. <v Speaker 1>And you might say, like if you didn't grow up <v Speaker 1>in a video store era, like why was it such <v Speaker 1>a big deal When you were a kid, you really <v Speaker 1>kind of approached a visit to the store like perhaps <v Speaker 1>it could be your last, Like you didn't want to <v Speaker 1>fuck it up, even though the chances were how you'd <v Speaker 1>come back, What if the tape wasn't there the next time? <v Speaker 2>Yeah, go ahead, Sorry you keep going. <v Speaker 1>Oh no, that's all I want to say. <v Speaker 2>Well, because what it was too was like, Okay, I <v Speaker 2>go there because like it's like Friday night, Friday night <v Speaker 2>is the movie night. Yes, yeah, you know, you go <v Speaker 2>there after school, Mom and dad are getting pizza. You <v Speaker 2>go to the store, the video store, and you're gonna <v Speaker 2>rent two movies two or three tapes for the weekend. <v Speaker 2>And that's like, and if you don't, if they don't <v Speaker 2>have what you want there, you have to wait a <v Speaker 2>whole of the week. There was no going to the <v Speaker 2>video store Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, no way. It was Friday. <v Speaker 2>Maybe maybe Saturday, maybe Saturday if we were feeling saucy, <v Speaker 2>you know. But for the most part, it was Friday <v Speaker 2>night only. And if it didn't happen Friday night, if <v Speaker 2>I didn't get what I needed Friday night, I had <v Speaker 2>to wait a whole other week. So you better pick <v Speaker 2>a tape that you're like, when you're ten years old, <v Speaker 2>a week is is a year. A week is a <v Speaker 2>year when you're ten years old. And I, I, uh yeah, like, <v Speaker 2>and so what I would do, Like, I I realized <v Speaker 2>that I needed to watch all this stuff to really be, <v Speaker 2>you know, feel fulfilled, right all right? And so I <v Speaker 2>would have to think to myself, what could be exciting <v Speaker 2>about this tape? What could be exciting our summer sem <v Speaker 2>eighty nine? <v Speaker 1>Sell yourself on it. <v Speaker 2>I'd have to sell myself on I have to build <v Speaker 2>it up in my head. And then I'm like, Okay, <v Speaker 2>I can't wait. I gotta get this fucking tape. It <v Speaker 2>was like there was a process in order to get <v Speaker 2>into it. Like it was. It was never you know, <v Speaker 2>it was it was never cut and dry for me, <v Speaker 2>and especially with the Colosseum tapes, they scared the shit out. <v Speaker 1>Well, yeah, to your original point, if you had to <v Speaker 1>build yourself up that much to use one of your credits, <v Speaker 1>so to speak, to rent this tape, it was high <v Speaker 1>stake when you popped it in the VHS with VCR. <v Speaker 2>And not. And also that's that's think about it. I'm <v Speaker 2>talking about two or three tapes, two or three tapes <v Speaker 2>for the whole family. Right. You're also like, it's like, <v Speaker 2>I'm I'm getting one wrestling tape. That's it. They're not <v Speaker 2>three wrestling tips. It's one wrestling tape and then one <v Speaker 2>or two movies, right, you know, That's that's what it was. <v Speaker 2>So like you really, you know, and God forbid, the <v Speaker 2>tape fucking is broken. <v Speaker 1>Oh dude. Those are some of the most stressful memories <v Speaker 1>of my boyhood. I remember I got the when they <v Speaker 1>came out with that thirteen VHS WrestleMania collection. Yep, I <v Speaker 1>got that for Christmas and I immediately popped in WrestleMania <v Speaker 1>eight because that's the soft spot, and within two or <v Speaker 1>three viewings the VCR chewed it up. <v Speaker 3>That's right. <v Speaker 1>And I had this crinkled, you know, tape around where <v Speaker 1>Warrior runs in, and I was afraid to watch it again. <v Speaker 2>What's what? <v Speaker 1>You know, what's worse than not having WrestleMania eight on tape, <v Speaker 1>having it on tape and being afraid to watch it. <v Speaker 2>Having having it and yeat and not being able to <v Speaker 2>watch it out of absolute fear. Yes, that is worse. <v Speaker 1>I mean if you heard that thing crinkle, and if <v Speaker 1>you pulled that tape out and you felt the tug, right, yeah, <v Speaker 1>you felt the resistance, you couldn't get the tape out. <v Speaker 1>I mean, that's a fucking triage situation. <v Speaker 2>A nightmare. That's an absolute nightmare. Like if you get <v Speaker 2>a yes, yes, oh. <v Speaker 1>My god, and now we treat it like total garbage <v Speaker 1>and away and buy another one on Amazon, it'd be <v Speaker 1>at the front door in forty hours. <v Speaker 2>And you know what was an equal tragedy, by the way, <v Speaker 2>an equal tragedy. You get home, you're throwing in the tape, <v Speaker 2>you're so fucking excited, and the last loser who rented <v Speaker 2>it didn't rewind it. <v Speaker 1>Oh big problem. <v Speaker 2>It's like, now I got to wait another fucking five minutes. Yep. <v Speaker 1>Ruining my life completely inconsidered ruining my life. He kind <v Speaker 1>of rewind. <v Speaker 2>I know, right, man, and I'm the fucking tape. <v Speaker 1>Villains of the squared Circle Boss. <v Speaker 2>No columns yet, by the way, no columns. <v Speaker 1>Yes, we've been for those who don't know, in the <v Speaker 1>Coliseum collection, we've been trying to identify with the first <v Speaker 1>tape where the Coliseum video logo included the Grecian columns. <v Speaker 2>I don't know the exact tape I do. I do believe, <v Speaker 2>though I do believe the columns appear in eighty eight <v Speaker 2>some point. <v Speaker 1>At some point we're selling eighty six, so got a <v Speaker 1>ways to go. Did you know, Boss, that federal law <v Speaker 1>provides severe civil and criminal penalties. <v Speaker 2>I'd heard rumors about this. I wasn't sure if it <v Speaker 2>was if it was fact or not. <v Speaker 1>That's also the screen that you picture when you hear <v Speaker 1>the tape. <v Speaker 2>Noise exactly, it's exactly. <v Speaker 1>It punishable by a two hundred and fifty thousand dollars fine, <v Speaker 1>which in the history of the United States of America <v Speaker 1>has probably never been levied once. <v Speaker 2>As anybody has anybody been I would like to know quarter. <v Speaker 1>A million dollars in nineteen eighty six for dubbing a <v Speaker 1>tape and selling it. <v Speaker 2>Like, I really want to know whoever got caught to <v Speaker 2>the point where they were had to pay this two <v Speaker 2>hundred and fifty one thousand dollars. <v Speaker 1>Fine, here's something I don't think we ever talked about. <v Speaker 1>What's your earliest memory of figuring out for yourself how <v Speaker 1>to copy of tape from the video store? <v Speaker 2>Oh? <v Speaker 1>Man, I didn't figure that out to high school. <v Speaker 2>From the very get go, my mom was sneaky. Mama <v Speaker 2>Saraw was a sneaky motherfucker. <v Speaker 1>Adding some texture to wrestle. Mamia. <v Speaker 2>Absolutely, she was making she was she was copying tapes <v Speaker 2>from the moment we had a VCR. Wow, Yeah, because <v Speaker 2>I had dubbed versions and they weren't TV versions. They <v Speaker 2>were they were VHS versions of the original Star Wars trilogy, <v Speaker 2>and we would you know, and they were they were <v Speaker 2>dubb right from the tape. <v Speaker 4>You know. <v Speaker 2>And uh, because there was a time I don't remember <v Speaker 2>if it was so obviously we had our own VCR. <v Speaker 2>But then I think she rented a VCR like she <v Speaker 2>knew I don't know how she knew she was doing, <v Speaker 2>but she knew what she was doing, and and she <v Speaker 2>just copied a bunch of tapes. <v Speaker 1>That's pretty impressive because I obsessed over that for a <v Speaker 1>long time. I mean I was like probably ten, eleven, <v Speaker 1>twelve years old, but I could not figure it out <v Speaker 1>how to wire the two together. <v Speaker 2>Yeah. No, the best thing was too is that later on, <v Speaker 2>This is how, this is how seriously they took the <v Speaker 2>fine by the way, Okay, at one point they were <v Speaker 2>selling double decker VCRs. Yeah, to do exactly what you're <v Speaker 2>not supposed to do. Well, you can copy it, you <v Speaker 2>just can't sell it. I guess that's kind of the offense. <v Speaker 2>I mean, you're probably not stealing it, you're still stealing it, <v Speaker 2>like you know, yeah, you can't sell it, but you're <v Speaker 2>also not buying the tape. You're hundred dollars. <v Speaker 1>But probably to the letter of the law, you're probably <v Speaker 1>not even supposed to copy it. But no one was <v Speaker 1>gonna get slapped unless they sold it. But even then, <v Speaker 1>it's absurd. Fine, I know these things, you know, they command. <v Speaker 2>How many fucking how many fucking tapes would you have <v Speaker 2>to sell right to really equal to two hundred and fifty <v Speaker 2>thousand dollars. Fine, Like that's crazy. <v Speaker 1>Like well, when commanded the premium, they did, you know, <v Speaker 1>if you can charge eighty dollars in the eighties, all <v Speaker 1>of a sudden, the person who's having their intellectual property <v Speaker 1>stolen in their head, that's a big tally. If the <v Speaker 1>tapes were being sold for three dollars at retail, I'm <v Speaker 1>not these businesses don't really give a fuck. But if <v Speaker 1>it's like that's eighty bucks, that's eighty bucks. That's eighty <v Speaker 1>bucks that could have been mine in the eighties, I <v Speaker 1>can kind of see why these laws were so stringent <v Speaker 1>in the first place in the early days, because of <v Speaker 1>just how expensive it was to own this kind of stuff. <v Speaker 2>It's yeah, yeah, I mean, I guess, I guess you're right. <v Speaker 1>But not anymore. I had such a distressing period of <v Speaker 1>time too. I don't know if I've ever talked about this, <v Speaker 1>where our VCR broke and we're not in a position <v Speaker 1>to buy a new one, and so we brought it <v Speaker 1>to Seers for repair several times, and it continued to <v Speaker 1>malfunction and much less, and it was so it was <v Speaker 1>such a distressing dark period until we finally got another <v Speaker 1>one for Christmas, right before I got back into weekly <v Speaker 1>watching in ninety six. That's when we got it. And <v Speaker 1>then I did a lot of damage with that fucking machine. <v Speaker 1>But it really, you know, that cost me a lot. <v Speaker 1>I never thought about this till just now. That probably <v Speaker 1>has a little bit to do with why my fandom <v Speaker 1>kind of lulled in like ninety four, because I couldn't <v Speaker 1>as easily rent restling tapes, you know, and then you're <v Speaker 1>just stuck with whether or not you happen to be <v Speaker 1>in front of the television when it's one. <v Speaker 2>That's a good point, you know, I mean, like, yeah, <v Speaker 2>that that whole period for me, it was still it <v Speaker 2>was as hot as it ever was. I was because <v Speaker 2>I mean I was renting tapes and ye always on <v Speaker 2>the hunt for that elusive King of the Ring ninety <v Speaker 2>four tape. Wow, to the point where I actually didn't <v Speaker 2>believe the event existed. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, yeah, there was somewhere. It was like, logically, this <v Speaker 1>should exist, but I didn't watch it at the time. <v Speaker 1>I didn't have easy access to you know, obviously the <v Speaker 1>Internet or any kind of magazines or anything, and not <v Speaker 1>until I got the ninety seven p WI Almanac that <v Speaker 1>I have anything that had complete like MM show results. <v Speaker 1>When I read that thing, man, oh my god, I <v Speaker 1>was like, oh my god, this is all the shows, <v Speaker 1>the dates, like, yeah, I can remember these matches, but <v Speaker 1>I can't remember what shows they were on, and now <v Speaker 1>I have it all here. It was a fucking that's crazy. <v Speaker 1>It's a great day. But yeah, night lore. <v Speaker 2>I it took me until I saw there was a oh, <v Speaker 2>there was an there was an ad in W magazine <v Speaker 2>where they were selling all these old tapes, you know, <v Speaker 2>every now and again, they'd do that kind of a <v Speaker 2>limited time warehouse clear out right, and so they were <v Speaker 2>selling everything, like all pay per view shows. I don't <v Speaker 2>think they were selling Colisseum tapes, but they're selling all <v Speaker 2>pay per view shows, and so my I don't know <v Speaker 2>why she said I could get three because they were <v Speaker 2>like I think they were like thirty dollars apiece sounds right, <v Speaker 2>But she said I could get three. And so of <v Speaker 2>course Rumble ninety one, yeah, no question, Survivor Series nineteen <v Speaker 2>ninety because to me that they were like they ran <v Speaker 2>in tandem. Survivor Series ninety and Rumble ninety one ran <v Speaker 2>in tandem. They were like very connected yep, and King <v Speaker 2>of three ninety four. Because I saw it there, I <v Speaker 2>was like, I need it, I need to believe. I <v Speaker 2>need to see this thing God, because it's the At <v Speaker 2>the time, it was the only pay per view on <v Speaker 2>videotape that I had not seen. That's amazing, and it <v Speaker 2>was like I'd seen everything after that, it was just <v Speaker 2>this one fucking show, which you know, in a weird way, <v Speaker 2>I kind of understand why that they didn't fucking hype <v Speaker 2>it up right, dismal show and something. I don't remember it, <v Speaker 2>so they probably didn't actually put into stores. Probably just <v Speaker 2>had it fucking you know, to purchase whenever you wanted it, <v Speaker 2>but never to actually rent. <v Speaker 1>It's funny because as you're saying this, I'm remembering I <v Speaker 1>had a tape like that too, but I can't for <v Speaker 1>the life you remember which one it was. It was like, <v Speaker 1>it has to exist logically, And then years later, when <v Speaker 1>I had the resources I found it, I was like, yes, <v Speaker 1>you're coming home now. Was this What year would it <v Speaker 1>have been when they had that in the magazine and <v Speaker 1>you got those back tapes? <v Speaker 2>I mean, I'd say it was ninety it would have <v Speaker 2>been probably either late ninety four or like mid ninety five. <v Speaker 1>So still pre attitude. Oh yeah, yeah, absolutely, yeah, yeah, <v Speaker 1>definitely pre attitude. It was you know, they was the colissemer. <v Speaker 1>I mean yeah, by by the time attitude really sets in, <v Speaker 1>that's when they actually they. <v Speaker 2>Started with it and they started. Yeah, they're doing their <v Speaker 2>w home video by that point. <v Speaker 1>You know, it's amazing as we sit here, were visiting <v Speaker 1>the Coliseum collection and a bit of laps indipity. I'm <v Speaker 1>pretty sure just this year, at the end of twenty <v Speaker 1>twenty four, December thirty one was the end of WWF <v Speaker 1>Home Videos as a division. Really yeah. I saw some tweets, <v Speaker 1>particularly out of the UK. It seemed to be like <v Speaker 1>it lasted longer in the UK than it did Stateside, <v Speaker 1>the idea they had home video business. Someone had boasted <v Speaker 1>a screen grab saying that the last BLU ray they <v Speaker 1>put out was the Roman versus Drew McIntyre clash the <v Speaker 1>Casual Show in Wales. <v Speaker 2>Oh no kidding, that. <v Speaker 1>Was the final pay per view DVD. That and that <v Speaker 1>the division kind of still existed and you know, limped along. <v Speaker 1>So look at this, we're picking up the Colosseum collection <v Speaker 1>as the ww is officially no longer in the home <v Speaker 1>video business. <v Speaker 2>What a weird I mean, what a sad day. Honestly <v Speaker 2>so sad. It's kind of it is, I mean, I guess, <v Speaker 2>I guess it is kind of weird that they don't <v Speaker 2>really I guess they want to lure people with the network. <v Speaker 2>But you know, for people who don't who do you <v Speaker 2>know for the the I don't know I'm thinking of there. <v Speaker 2>There certainly got to be people who don't stream, right, <v Speaker 2>you know, but to be able to buy not I <v Speaker 2>mean like like who don't have like streaming services, but <v Speaker 2>to be able to buy a copy of a DVD <v Speaker 2>or two uh, or even buy like a digital copy <v Speaker 2>of something, you'd think that that would be. <v Speaker 1>It'll it'll swing back eventually once people realize that it's <v Speaker 1>a free for all in terms of rights and that <v Speaker 1>you can't count on something being streamable on the service <v Speaker 1>that you subscribe to to see it, and then in <v Speaker 1>a year or six months it disappears and go somewhere else. <v Speaker 1>It's like, Okay, I need to buy something that's my <v Speaker 1>copy so that it doesn't matter who's licensing it at <v Speaker 1>the moment I can see it without having a sign <v Speaker 1>up for a new service. I feel like that's coming, <v Speaker 1>but yeah, it seems like at the tail end there. <v Speaker 1>I would God, if there's anyone in the sound of <v Speaker 1>our voice who knows some of some of the last <v Speaker 1>employees at the WWF home, what a conversation that would <v Speaker 1>be to have, because I think the only real remaining <v Speaker 1>customers were people who, just like you were saying, were <v Speaker 1>collecting from the beginning and who absolutely needed to have <v Speaker 1>every w B pay per view on DVD. And I <v Speaker 1>even saw someone plus something. It was like they created <v Speaker 1>a WrestleMania forty one because they had to continue their collections. <v Speaker 1>And now they're just making their own DVDs, right and <v Speaker 1>actually printing their own jackets and everything with their own <v Speaker 1>match graphics. <v Speaker 2>On it, which you, I mean, you can do very <v Speaker 2>well these days. <v Speaker 1>Oh yeah, yeah, it's actually fun. <v Speaker 2>Yeah yeah, I used to actually do that. I did <v Speaker 2>that in so like when I in uh probably when <v Speaker 2>I lived in La I'm gonna say probably two thousand <v Speaker 2>and six, thousand and seven, maybe eight. I would, you know, <v Speaker 2>I'd go through I would always record obviously, I would <v Speaker 2>record a DVR pay per views yep. And then next <v Speaker 2>I would I had a DVD recorder that I could do, <v Speaker 2>you know, I hoped it was like a VCR DVD <v Speaker 2>recorder and I could cord DVD. I could record what <v Speaker 2>was on my DVR onto DVD, and so I would <v Speaker 2>make DVDs obviously of the wrestling shows of course, that <v Speaker 2>the pay per views that I recorded, and then I <v Speaker 2>would make a DVD case and sleeve and i'd have <v Speaker 2>my own little like I'd put my own image boxes <v Speaker 2>on the back right and stuff, and like make it <v Speaker 2>all like what you would see. I did that. I <v Speaker 2>did that specifically. I remember for the satur Night's main <v Speaker 2>event at the first one they brought it back. I <v Speaker 2>remember doing that. <v Speaker 1>I had a very wild short lived like in two <v Speaker 1>thousand and five, I was I got a DVD burner <v Speaker 1>for the first time, and so I would tape raw <v Speaker 1>and then burn stuff that I thought was worth keeping, <v Speaker 1>and I ended up like a compilation of discs. And <v Speaker 1>then I got one of those label maker things so <v Speaker 1>I could print, you know, like a sticky circular ye <v Speaker 1>right cover YEP. I remember the Eddie Carrero one I <v Speaker 1>did because it had Edie Guro trip Shall wanted. He <v Speaker 1>died in two thousands. And then I would do like <v Speaker 1>a little match listing, you know that you could clip <v Speaker 1>out and keep with it. <v Speaker 2>Yep. <v Speaker 1>I don't know why we're talking about this, just a <v Speaker 1>fucking you know, just. <v Speaker 2>Make yourself miserable. Just remember that, Just make yourself miserable. <v Speaker 1>It's just it was such a it was such a <v Speaker 1>productive use of time. It's such a way to like <v Speaker 1>engage your passion, you know, it was it was just <v Speaker 1>sus there for whenever you want to press play. And <v Speaker 1>it's just not active anymore. <v Speaker 2>No, it definitely is not. It definitely is not active. <v Speaker 2>That is that is damn correct. It is not active. <v Speaker 1>It certainly doesn't start with a purple screen and the <v Speaker 1>colisseum logo with that little small circle over the U <v Speaker 1>and colosseum. No, no, lest we not pronounce it in <v Speaker 1>the original Greek. <v Speaker 2>I don't know what I know the circle means when <v Speaker 2>you when you what it what it's? <v Speaker 4>Uh? <v Speaker 2>What the the how you say something with the little <v Speaker 2>circle over it? <v Speaker 1>Yeah, that's that's a foreign concept to me. And then <v Speaker 1>of course we get the the yellow circular WWF home <v Speaker 1>video logo that we all need. <v Speaker 2>Yep. <v Speaker 1>Pipa progressing tees dot Com, slash. <v Speaker 2>Slabs, fan exactly version. <v Speaker 1>I have one nice baby blue love that one. <v Speaker 2>That's a great one. <v Speaker 1>And there it is the stars. We see a constellation, <v Speaker 1>don't we. <v Speaker 2>It began over five thousand years ago when the desire <v Speaker 2>for content was born. <v Speaker 1>Is that the first Netflix. <v Speaker 2>Ancient influencers, using stone tablets then known as iy slabs, <v Speaker 2>chiseled and recorded crowning achievements within the realm of fictional <v Speaker 2>reality based entertainment vehicles provided by in ring storytellers. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, this is exactly how they would phrase it today. <v Speaker 2>They did it. They did it to entertain, they did <v Speaker 2>it for food. They did it to put smiles on faces, food. <v Speaker 1>In their mouths. That's brilliant. I don't know that was coming. <v Speaker 2>I love those things. That's a fucking like. I also <v Speaker 2>love to the best part is they never say what <v Speaker 2>it is. I know, you know it is right, it <v Speaker 2>is dot dot And then they show fake sports. <v Speaker 1>They show Madison Square gardeners on it, right, it is <v Speaker 1>Madison Square Garden. <v Speaker 2>Or they show that that kind of Roman art version, <v Speaker 2>you know they have that that the well's time they <v Speaker 2>call it seem it's a wall of the hieroglyphics, right right, <v Speaker 2>it's it's like, oh, Is it art? Is that what <v Speaker 2>we're talking about? Right? <v Speaker 1>Is it representations of ancient combat? That's another thing to <v Speaker 1>watch for, not just when the columns debut, but when <v Speaker 1>they stopped doing I. <v Speaker 2>Mean, is it pastiche Is that what we're talking about? <v Speaker 1>Well, yeah, when they show the seventies matches, that's true, <v Speaker 1>that is true, and pretend that they integrate seamlessly into <v Speaker 1>the contemporary stuff they're showing on these tapes. But yeah, <v Speaker 1>that's something else to watch for, is when do they <v Speaker 1>stop with this class open? <v Speaker 2>Yeah? <v Speaker 1>I thought by maybe eighty six we might, but no, <v Speaker 1>it's it's around at least until at least until the <v Speaker 1>Winged Eagle era I think. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, I'm gonna say I feel I remember you know <v Speaker 2>we did watch one of the later right. Uh, it <v Speaker 2>was that weird fucking international. <v Speaker 1>Point where like everybody in this pre roll is out <v Speaker 1>of the company, you know, right, So that's probably when <v Speaker 1>they dropped it, when it was too much work to <v Speaker 1>replace the wrestlers. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, that's true, that's true. <v Speaker 1>But there it is as it says, it began over <v Speaker 1>five thousand years ago, when civilization was young. Every major <v Speaker 1>culture Egypt, Greece, Rome, India, Japan, I love how I <v Speaker 1>love how we have like Rome and then we have <v Speaker 1>Japan studied it, practiced, perfected it. To find some of <v Speaker 1>us like to Rome Japan. I'm trying to say some <v Speaker 1>of us like to Japan Rome, But that doesn't make <v Speaker 1>a sad although I guess, I guess when you consider <v Speaker 1>that Antonio and Oki was big in Italy in the <v Speaker 1>eighties and Tiger Mass, that's kind of japaning Rome. Hey, <v Speaker 1>there you go, that's they admired its Olympian demands strength, speed, agility, skill, grace, <v Speaker 1>and courage. They did it to honor their gods. They <v Speaker 1>did it to honor their kings. They did it to <v Speaker 1>train their soldiers. They did it to compete. That's how <v Speaker 1>you know. Vince wrote this and they did it for fun. <v Speaker 1>It has come down from mill the ages to us today. <v Speaker 5>It is. <v Speaker 1>Let's sucking get it ready? <v Speaker 2>That's the passion can bomb bottom? What's that about? <v Speaker 1>It's just brilliant. Go way back in the collection too, <v Speaker 1>we identified exactly what piece of music that is. It's <v Speaker 1>obviously not it's not a homegrown track. <v Speaker 2>You know what was? I don't even remember what it was? <v Speaker 1>Yeah, we found it. I got it somewhere I'm sure <v Speaker 1>now it's probably so well known. <v Speaker 2>Music. I mean, I feel like I've heard I mean, <v Speaker 2>it's one of those weird ones. I feel like I've <v Speaker 2>I've heard it a million different places. Yeah, not just there. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, it's like it it's sort of like stock music <v Speaker 1>that you would fight. <v Speaker 2>It's like it's like kind of that stock NFL music <v Speaker 2>you'd find. <v Speaker 1>I'm trying. I got a video here. Let's see if <v Speaker 1>they see in the comments what it is, because I <v Speaker 1>feel like that's how I found it is the comments <v Speaker 1>of the YouTube video that plays it. But then I <v Speaker 1>remember having to dig a little bit too beyond that <v Speaker 1>because it was people were kind of kind of mistaken <v Speaker 1>as to what the track was called, but they had <v Speaker 1>the artist right or the composer anyway. So there it is. <v Speaker 1>We see msgu, see snook A Volkov, We see like <v Speaker 1>you said, the hieroglyphic drawings. We see Tito in the <v Speaker 1>US Express, and we see Orton and Piper are slamming somebody. <v Speaker 1>We see Ken Petera doing that spinning full nelson, which <v Speaker 1>is a great part of the video. He's rotating someone <v Speaker 1>like helicopter blade. Tiger mask is in there because in <v Speaker 1>eighty four, they had the JPW relationship, so they in <v Speaker 1>the early tapes were featuring New japan guys. They have <v Speaker 1>an ancient clip of luths backsup lexing fucking Ricky Dozan. <v Speaker 1>It's so bizarre, right, I mean, I never knew what <v Speaker 1>that clip was, but now that I know what it is, <v Speaker 1>it makes even less sense. Although actually luth Ez features <v Speaker 1>in this tape, like you said he. <v Speaker 2>Does, he does. He's there in that piper match, and <v Speaker 2>I forgot. <v Speaker 1>That he was in their good graces in those early days. <v Speaker 2>I didn't know he ever had anything to do with <v Speaker 2>the company. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, I always assumed he was, you know, growing up <v Speaker 1>learning about Luthez, he just seemed like a guy that <v Speaker 1>would want nothing to do with how McMahon's exactly. <v Speaker 2>He wants to just be completely out of that shit. <v Speaker 1>Black Tiger Uncle Olmer Hogan versus Valentine is shown in <v Speaker 1>the open a gorilla press off the top rope on Valentine. <v Speaker 1>They showed SD Janes doing a sunset flip. This is <v Speaker 1>the tape that features the match that SD Jones does <v Speaker 1>that senset flippant. Oh yeah, that's always a fun little game. <v Speaker 1>Like what tape features that moment they have the airplane spin, <v Speaker 1>Andre slamming Kamala and a steel cage, and then of <v Speaker 1>course Hogan covering Chic to win the title for the <v Speaker 1>first time, and then we just hear the tape noise <v Speaker 1>and then Gene Okerland is in studio with the monitors <v Speaker 1>behind him and the primitive ww F production facilities that <v Speaker 1>are it's. <v Speaker 2>Acatic than the original ones where it's fucking like Vince <v Speaker 2>in a weird tope room one TV monitor. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, that's that's my that that was an unexpected little <v Speaker 1>joy thing on this whole Coliseum journey was that you <v Speaker 1>get to see the evolution of their production facilities as <v Speaker 1>the company grows. That's true, you see the monitors. You <v Speaker 1>also see Another thing that comes into relief is like, <v Speaker 1>you know, they're doing those skits where Hogan is with <v Speaker 1>you know, training with Oakerland, and they're like in his <v Speaker 1>living room, you know, in someone's living room in Connecticut <v Speaker 1>somewhere like eleven. <v Speaker 2>Thirty at night. <v Speaker 1>It's like they would never you know, use like such <v Speaker 1>you know, such like scraped together settings as the US went, <v Speaker 1>you know, but just before they're still kind of like <v Speaker 1>a a shoe string operation in terms of production of <v Speaker 1>skits and stuff. But there is Geni and Studio with <v Speaker 1>the monitors behind him, a grave mic in his hand <v Speaker 1>and the red bow tie. And yes, Now, in the past, <v Speaker 1>we brought you a number of video cassette. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, I got this one for you because it's wonderful. <v Speaker 6>Now, the past, we brought you a number of video <v Speaker 6>cassettes dealing with the very specific aspects of professional wrestling, <v Speaker 6>like the WWF's most unusual matches, broopers, bleeps and body slams, <v Speaker 6>a history of the tag team champions, and wrestling's amazing managers. <v Speaker 6>But today, in response to the thousands and thousands of <v Speaker 6>fan requests, we're putting together a program which focuses on quote, <v Speaker 6>the bad guys, the rule benders and the rule breakers <v Speaker 6>man who literally stop it nothing to get what they want. <v Speaker 1>You bad guys, Hey, yo, So I guess Vince counts <v Speaker 1>if if it's a bad guy to stop at nothing <v Speaker 1>and to get what you want, that's true. And we <v Speaker 1>call it Villains of the Squared Circle and they yeah, <v Speaker 1>comes up in the yellow chiron and Jean says he <v Speaker 1>told the producers, fellas, this sounds like a great idea. <v Speaker 1>But if I have to sit through more than an <v Speaker 1>hour of NonStop evil. I wonder how objective I could be. <v Speaker 1>I should have kept my big mouth shut Gens because <v Speaker 1>they said back to me, hey, no problem, fine, we'll <v Speaker 1>get your guest host. And he does in need an <v Speaker 1>expert unquestionable tactics. But the entire Heenan family welcome in <v Speaker 1>Bobby Heenen, who comes in a suit with Bundy and <v Speaker 1>stud and their open collars looking as eighties as possible. <v Speaker 2>I mean not even eighties. It's like it's on that. <v Speaker 2>It's on that that kind of like it's on like <v Speaker 2>the the the flip of the times, you know, it's <v Speaker 2>like the nineteen eighty look, yeah, right exactly. It's like <v Speaker 2>it's like it's nine eighty six. Guys, fucking where are <v Speaker 2>you to me? That's always the case. Wrestlers are always <v Speaker 2>like that far behind on the times. <v Speaker 1>Well, they were hot shit young guys in the seventies <v Speaker 1>and so they carry they carry that fashion into their forties. <v Speaker 2>Here. <v Speaker 1>But Heenan says, you said it right there. You should <v Speaker 1>keep your mouth shut. Jean says, you're the last one <v Speaker 1>to talk about keeping your mouth shut. Says in you <v Speaker 1>are three steps behind me and stud says, I don't <v Speaker 1>like the way you said villain. I consider myself not <v Speaker 1>a villain. I consider myself a very aggressive wrestler. <v Speaker 2>And he says, hey, that's that's that's not and that's <v Speaker 2>not wrong there right. <v Speaker 1>It doesn't make you a bad guy just because you, <v Speaker 1>you know, like to bring the fight to your opponent <v Speaker 1>in that ring exactly. Bundy disagrees with the characterization of <v Speaker 1>questionable tactics that they use. Question that's right, that's what <v Speaker 1>he says. Very good, he says, we're winners. We've never <v Speaker 1>done a questionable thing in our lives. That might be <v Speaker 1>the meanest thing King Kong Buddy is ever said. <v Speaker 7>Guaranteed, it's the laps Fall Wrestling Podcast, the wrestling podcast <v Speaker 7>that knows the boys need their candy. It's the Lapsed Fan. <v Speaker 7>He's the Lapsed Fan Wrestling podcast with Jack and Carnacio <v Speaker 7>and j Pi Soro Easily. <v Speaker 1>Uh Jean said he heard of the possibility of gentlemen <v Speaker 1>here we go because it's great, this is fucking great. <v Speaker 6>Well, I had heard that there was a possibility that <v Speaker 6>jew gentlemen may not show up at all, that you <v Speaker 6>were going to try wheeze a lot of them Hey, hey, hey. <v Speaker 2>Came out here to give an interesting insight to this tape. <v Speaker 2>Not to be made fun of. How did I make <v Speaker 2>fun of? You said weasel? I don't want to. I <v Speaker 2>don't want to say I didn't I heard it. Who <v Speaker 2>said weasel? He says, I don't want you to say weasel. Tremendous, <v Speaker 2>he fucking he fucking like what shows paranoia on par <v Speaker 2>with Hulkogan. He does in that and the fact that <v Speaker 2>he said because he used the verb weasel out of something, <v Speaker 2>not what do you? I don't want to be made <v Speaker 2>fun of? Didn't even call him a weasel, didn't even <v Speaker 2>call him use it as a verb check the adjective. <v Speaker 2>Wasn't ready for. <v Speaker 8>That, use a verb check the adjective. <v Speaker 1>It is the Colisne collection, after all, it is it <v Speaker 1>is after all. Yeah, it's just delightful to see he <v Speaker 1>and Gene like this and have kind of an open canvas, <v Speaker 1>you know. Yep says one more you say one more <v Speaker 1>nasty thing, and you'll get a splash before the tap <v Speaker 1>didn't say a splash. <v Speaker 4>Of what. <v Speaker 2>Uh? And then we go to our first uh, our <v Speaker 2>first match here, well, Jean says he said something else first. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, he says the finale will feature the most dastardly <v Speaker 1>acts of all and who do you suppose the principles <v Speaker 1>involved in that are? And uh, he says, listen to <v Speaker 1>this rogues gallery, Oh my god. And uh they talk <v Speaker 1>about Bobby not accepting the Manager of the Year award results. <v Speaker 2>Oh yeah, that's right. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, King Kung Bundy and John start breaking the sternum <v Speaker 1>Andre the Giant, King Kung Bundy breaking the rib of <v Speaker 1>heavyweight champion Hulk Hogan. And they're all cackling with laughter <v Speaker 1>every time Jean lifts, let's lits off another active in <v Speaker 1>humanity that the Heenan family. <v Speaker 2>Now there's such fucking there's it's, it's it's it's hilarious watch, <v Speaker 2>you know. I mean, essentially they're criminals, all right, They're <v Speaker 2>they're they're criminals who are out. I mean, they have <v Speaker 2>all committed assault totally, They've all committed assault and have <v Speaker 2>not gotten arrested for it. <v Speaker 1>And even with the dead weapon, they show Studd and <v Speaker 1>Petera cutting off the hair of Andre with. <v Speaker 2>Scissors, right exactly. <v Speaker 1>He didn says it was a trip to Snip City <v Speaker 1>as stud rubs. <v Speaker 2>I don't know about that one. <v Speaker 1>Jeans a chrome Dome and says you need a haircut. <v Speaker 2>Snip City, Snip City. <v Speaker 1>That circumcision did They come out with a cartoon for kids, <v Speaker 1>a claymation show called w W Snip City was slam City. <v Speaker 2>What if they were there was like a reality TV <v Speaker 2>show is Snip City and all it was was about circumsitions. <v Speaker 1>I could see that on TLC or something after like <v Speaker 1>Pimple Popper or whatever. <v Speaker 2>Doctor. <v Speaker 1>They also they also built a pilot around Bundy at <v Speaker 1>this point in time called Salami City. <v Speaker 2>See he uh uh everyone the actually the original pitch <v Speaker 2>was slam Me City, but he thought of they said <v Speaker 2>Salami City. He's like, yeah, I'll go for that. Oh god, <v Speaker 2>Salami City. <v Speaker 1>That's that's the worst pilot since the one that flew <v Speaker 1>Flair in seventy five. So, like you said, we kick <v Speaker 1>off Villains of the Squared Circle on Colisseum home Video <v Speaker 1>with the newly arrived Heel Jake the Snake Roberts to <v Speaker 1>thank you sir, and that is the sound of Grilla <v Speaker 1>Monsoon ringsided MSG as Nature intended as God. <v Speaker 2>Of course taking out from April twenty second, nine eighty <v Speaker 2>six at the Garden. <v Speaker 1>Thanks for the time check there and Gene does a <v Speaker 1>quick voice over before we see. <v Speaker 2>Villains all the past. Here you go, I have these. <v Speaker 6>Before we look at some of the villains of the past, <v Speaker 6>let's begin with the present day, the very newest member <v Speaker 6>of what some would say is an elite club. Gentlemen, <v Speaker 6>I take it. <v Speaker 2>You do agree. They forget that terminology of villain. The <v Speaker 2>man's a winner, he's a proven Come on, professional wrestling. <v Speaker 2>You never seen them lose heavy? What that's apparently? <v Speaker 6>Fathers who Big John stuff. <v Speaker 2>Maybe you're afraid of snakes. I'm not afraid of snakes, <v Speaker 2>King Paul. <v Speaker 4>You know there's no asterisk in the ww record books <v Speaker 4>saying how a man won a match. <v Speaker 2>Oh, it says whether he won or lost. <v Speaker 6>I'm sorry, I asked. <v Speaker 2>Me too, Gene. <v Speaker 1>I know it makes too of them too. Those are <v Speaker 1>so delightful, those little I know, back and forth as <v Speaker 1>the matches like unfolding under the audio, yep, And what <v Speaker 1>we see is Jake shooting Scott McGee into the corner <v Speaker 1>and comes off the buckle and the ropes and hits <v Speaker 1>him with the right hand and then a gutbuster. Then <v Speaker 1>uh Or as Gorilla monsoon calls it an inverted backbreaker <v Speaker 1>from Gus name. <v Speaker 2>We get Ernie Ladd as well, and Lord Alfred has <v Speaker 2>on the call here. <v Speaker 1>Yes, with Gorilla, Yeah, it's kind of jarring at first <v Speaker 1>because you don't know who Lad is, and then they yeah, <v Speaker 1>identifying you're it used to the third guy necessarily in <v Speaker 1>the in eighty six in the booth, not at all. <v Speaker 2>I mean usually I'm used to, you know, with especially <v Speaker 2>with these tapes, it's usually just Vince and alone sometimes <v Speaker 2>and then it's usually him with somebody else or Gorilla <v Speaker 2>with somebody else, But like, not three people's that's appalling <v Speaker 2>at this stage of the game. <v Speaker 1>So I've got a question if a gutbuster is an <v Speaker 1>inverted backbreaker? Is a backbreaker an inverted gutbuster? <v Speaker 2>Absolutely? <v Speaker 1>Gorilla says he's sure. There's a smile on the face <v Speaker 1>of Damien. Of course, the snake located inside the sack <v Speaker 1>that Jake Roberts has put in the corner, he said, <v Speaker 1>Jake the snake thinks it's funny. That's what Ernie Ladd says. <v Speaker 1>He observes with Kuth that Jake the Snake thinks the <v Speaker 1>punishment that he's enduring that he's dishing out to Scott <v Speaker 1>McGee is. <v Speaker 2>Funny, Yeah, what's wrong with that? <v Speaker 1>Driving his face into the mat, and it is funny. <v Speaker 1>Then Ernie lad suddenly says, Gorilla, tell the people the <v Speaker 1>name of and in a rack as stag deep partner. <v Speaker 1>He can't remember. He's trying to make a point, but <v Speaker 1>he can't remember a rocus and Gorilla goes, I believe <v Speaker 1>it's Miguel Perez, Yes, Miguel Perez. <v Speaker 2>Yes, Oh my god, did you did. <v Speaker 1>You know Ernie that Miguel Bres has a son wrestling now? <v Speaker 2>And he didn't know that? <v Speaker 1>Oh, Jake hits the ropes in a tackle with a <v Speaker 1>slap because you get to slap your shoulder when you <v Speaker 1>tackle course and down goes Scott McGee. But Scott McGee <v Speaker 1>side steps and backward rolls and hits a drop kick <v Speaker 1>and that kind of does almost like a not a <v Speaker 1>body slim, almost like a Northern Lights bomb on the <v Speaker 1>snake Man. And then I got wrench suplex, which Gorilla <v Speaker 1>calls a gut wrench job. <v Speaker 2>A gut wrench job. Did Gorilla make the most. <v Speaker 1>Pearl Harbor's job? Gout wrench job. I'm doing the job, <v Speaker 1>Girrilla part time job. Did anyone ever make better use <v Speaker 1>of the word job than gorilla monsoon. <v Speaker 2>Nobody did harbor job, cut, wrench job, three sixty, job <v Speaker 2>over the top. <v Speaker 1>Anybody he wasn't around the called job squad matches. <v Speaker 2>Oh god, God, that gets. <v Speaker 1>Two for Scott McGee. Jake slithers out just like the <v Speaker 1>snake he is, Ernie Ladd says. Scott McGee goes out <v Speaker 1>after him on the floor, hits an uppercut, and then <v Speaker 1>Roberts slips back in and comes off the ropes, and <v Speaker 1>there's a big hip toss by Scott McGee and a <v Speaker 1>drop of the knee of the face for two. Lord <v Speaker 1>Al thinks that was more the bridge of the nose <v Speaker 1>than the face. Sure the London Bridge, no doubt, Ernie <v Speaker 1>Ladd says. In wrestling, there's no one to blame about <v Speaker 1>yourself if you come up short. <v Speaker 2>When you get beat. Hey, it's absolutely correct. <v Speaker 1>You know, on pro football, which he's very familiar with <v Speaker 1>as a former pro, you got ten other guys out <v Speaker 1>there that you can blame from the loss. <v Speaker 2>So, I mean wrestling, you also blame the bookers. <v Speaker 1>I was gonna say, I can see why they put <v Speaker 1>Ernie Ladd at the commentary table with probing insight like that. <v Speaker 1>M So, then let's see he pulls him up by <v Speaker 1>the hair, back up and he pulls Jake down by <v Speaker 1>the hair, does Scott McGee. Gorilla calls out, Oh. <v Speaker 2>Here we go, I got I got at our our <v Speaker 2>our first monsoonism of the tape. Oh look at. <v Speaker 4>That shot right to the external occipital for tuberance on <v Speaker 4>the back of the head of Jake. <v Speaker 2>The snake roberts, you just lost with the last red light. <v Speaker 2>Oh my god, that's a good line. <v Speaker 1>You just lost me at the last red light, like <v Speaker 1>you went and I didn't think it turned green. <v Speaker 2>Oh my god, I also forget. I love that Lord <v Speaker 2>Al is laughing his ass off at Gorilla and saying <v Speaker 2>the fucking obtuberance. <v Speaker 1>It's still new enough to Lord Al that he pops <v Speaker 1>like that, because because Gorilla would say that for years <v Speaker 1>without a hint of I mean, I'm sure he's laughing <v Speaker 1>and smiling, but it wouldn't prompt laughter from the other <v Speaker 1>people in the booth. They would just accept it as <v Speaker 1>like a a technical call, like something Gordon Soley would say. <v Speaker 2>External occipital occipital what is it? <v Speaker 1>Occipital O C C I P I t. Yeah, extuberance tuberance, <v Speaker 1>pro turberance, protuberance. Yeah, it sticks out the back of <v Speaker 1>your head. But what I'm calling for right now is <v Speaker 1>the proreusenttes dot com slash lapsed fan eop T shirt. <v Speaker 1>I would like you to put a silhouette of a <v Speaker 1>head with an arrow. <v Speaker 2>Of some kind of a just like a medical design. Yeah. <v Speaker 1>Make it look like a medical textbook with like that <v Speaker 1>font as if it's a dictionary defining external occipital protuberance, <v Speaker 1>almost like the illustration you'd find in a dictionary. <v Speaker 2>Yep. <v Speaker 1>I'm sure that one's going to sell like hotcakes, especially <v Speaker 1>with the Brian Solomon's A Gorilla Monsoon biography coming out soon. <v Speaker 1>Oh there we go, lad says guerrilla you lost me? <v Speaker 2>Okay? Yeah. <v Speaker 1>Then Scott mcge hits the ropes and misses a knee <v Speaker 1>and Jake comes up short, comes up with a short <v Speaker 1>arm clothesline to knock down Scott McGee or any lad <v Speaker 1>going on and on about something that Scott McGee did <v Speaker 1>that makes him second generation or something. The fact that <v Speaker 1>he is second generation reflected what he did. I guess <v Speaker 1>Scott macgee, which I didn't even know. UK wrestling No you. <v Speaker 2>Know, actually Scott McGee you know what, his family was <v Speaker 2>actually very famous for what's that butter spelled the same <v Speaker 2>way as gee, butter. <v Speaker 1>Tremendous. He's a Brett whose father was fresh wrestler Jeff. <v Speaker 2>Ports clarified butter, Scott mcclarified butter. <v Speaker 1>See that's a lot of catch here that I'll take <v Speaker 1>a seat. We have an idea for you. <v Speaker 2>Hey, look Scott, come on, Scott, sit down, pal listen, <v Speaker 2>very excited, very excited. All right, we we we have <v Speaker 2>we have great things for you mapped out. All right, <v Speaker 2>you're gonna be on a slippery slope uphill all right <v Speaker 2>to the top. So what we're thinking about is we <v Speaker 2>were kind of you know, thinking about. <v Speaker 1>He still he's sitting there thinking slippery slope uphill. He's <v Speaker 1>like still stuck on that you lost me at the <v Speaker 1>last red light, Vince. <v Speaker 2>Now what we think is the best way, you know, <v Speaker 2>you know, when you when you're we we have this <v Speaker 2>great idea. Now, your last name is Magee, right, but <v Speaker 2>it's spelled kind of differently. <v Speaker 1>Yes, so. <v Speaker 2>It's a g h e e right now. I don't <v Speaker 2>know if you know that, but that's actually a form <v Speaker 2>of of it's a a more liquid form of something <v Speaker 2>that you spread on toast. <v Speaker 1>It's a more liquid form of something you spread on toast. <v Speaker 1>That is how Vince would say, Butter, that is exactly how. <v Speaker 2>So what we want to actually we think you're going <v Speaker 2>to have what we the idea is that you come <v Speaker 2>up what we've come up with. That's how you'd say. <v Speaker 2>What we've come up with is is we've had a <v Speaker 2>number of our of our you know, designers and marketing gurus, <v Speaker 2>and what we've come up with is this idea that <v Speaker 2>you first of all, you'd come out in kind of <v Speaker 2>a wrapper of sorts. <v Speaker 1>And you'd kind of and you're gonna hail from the <v Speaker 1>Lando Lakes. <v Speaker 2>And you'll hail to say, you know, Finkle will go, <v Speaker 2>you know, hailing from the land of Lakes, all right, <v Speaker 2>and you'd rip open the rapper and then he would say, <v Speaker 2>Scott mclarified, Butter. <v Speaker 1>Better than John Dinner. Scott, I can't believe it's mclarified. <v Speaker 1>But I can't believe any of this ship. It's all faith. <v Speaker 1>What show was it where they went on? Scott McGhee again, <v Speaker 1>The Villains of the Square Circle is gonna go down <v Speaker 1>for all the stuff we said about the baby. <v Speaker 2>Faces exactly is it is? It? Absolutely is. <v Speaker 1>It's really amazing. So the short arm clothes lines on <v Speaker 1>order here from the snake Man and something about how <v Speaker 1>McGee continues to move without asking the fans. <v Speaker 2>Butter butter right, see that's the thing clarified. But it <v Speaker 2>moves smooth as I'm just staying the container. It's liquefied content. <v Speaker 1>Liquid TV had a short run liquidity. He just says <v Speaker 1>the word. He says it like uh, he says it <v Speaker 1>like Andy Richter. But the other guy in ELF says <v Speaker 1>something then puts his hands back, like what do you <v Speaker 1>think that no one likes it? Liquidity? Huh, clarified liquidity? <v Speaker 1>Are we going with a gimmick? Or are we we're <v Speaker 1>writing the bond perspectives clarified liquidity. I'd like to introduce <v Speaker 1>you to his tag team partner Stock Buybacks. <v Speaker 2>Got him. <v Speaker 8>I got him, I. <v Speaker 2>Can hear it. <v Speaker 8>I got him. <v Speaker 2>Oh, they come to the ring you called the market. <v Speaker 1>And they come out with a slew of security guards <v Speaker 1>and they're collectively known as mortgage backed security. Oh, oh god, <v Speaker 1>good stable. It's got a long time since we've done <v Speaker 1>one of those movie cow you know, Vince that the <v Speaker 1>Evin's coming up with creative for a no name. Fuck <v Speaker 1>you know, oh god, it's so much glorified butter liquidity. <v Speaker 1>It's all there. Stock buybacks have like hunchbacks or Jim <v Speaker 1>Hurd idea, Hey we got CNN finance just went up. <v Speaker 2>What the hell right, and you could have a you <v Speaker 2>know what, we gotta we gonna be with a tag team. <v Speaker 2>He could be the big short. They don't have a <v Speaker 2>big guy, and then you next one. You get it. <v Speaker 1>You guys win when everybody else is going down, you. <v Speaker 2>Go, you go down. We go up the big short. <v Speaker 1>Lord Littlebrook and fucking'd be big show in fucking horns. <v Speaker 2>Once one big short. <v Speaker 9>Well well well it's some big short Shelle like Steve Correll. <v Speaker 1>It's a big short, that's boss. This is fucking great, <v Speaker 1>the big bad short tonight over inflated earnings. <v Speaker 2>The finisher, The finisher is the shareholder. <v Speaker 3>Got him my cab, my cab. <v Speaker 1>Forty six minutes in. It hurts the back, you know what, <v Speaker 1>It hurts my external occipital protuberance. What I laughed, like <v Speaker 1>this burst out of my head. Oh shit, So yeah, <v Speaker 1>we're still on. That's one. Scott thanks, Scott McGee, I <v Speaker 1>can see you coming a mile away. And Lad is <v Speaker 1>like praising Scott McGee for not stopping and like trying <v Speaker 1>to rile the fans up and staying focused. I hate <v Speaker 1>to tell Ernie that he's not doing that because he's <v Speaker 1>a sound strategist. <v Speaker 2>He's doing it because no one would respond if he <v Speaker 2>did it. <v Speaker 1>Ernie Lad's going on about how that makes him a <v Speaker 1>great veteran that he doesn't stop to talk to the fans, <v Speaker 1>and then Scott McGee just totally epically fails on a <v Speaker 1>knee drop. Yeah, anyway, red white and blue ropes, by <v Speaker 1>the way, noted because some of these early Colisseum tapes <v Speaker 1>still have those like rings they would rent locally when <v Speaker 1>they'd come to the city and you get all kinds <v Speaker 1>of different color variations and quality. <v Speaker 2>Or if that and just fucking just rough. <v Speaker 1>Remember the ring of that cocain l a battle royal <v Speaker 1>they had what this isn't. <v Speaker 2>W w F like it was like like like a yarn, right. <v Speaker 1>Alrighty Lad says that sixteen years ago, Jake's father was <v Speaker 1>a wrestler here at rig and no response to that <v Speaker 1>from the announcers is. <v Speaker 2>They know they're like, God damn it, lad, I don't <v Speaker 2>talk about that ship didn't happen. <v Speaker 1>Mel Phillips is plenty. We don't need to bring up <v Speaker 1>Grizzly Smith as well. It's pretty great. Jake lifts Scott <v Speaker 1>McGee for a slam and Scott McGee counters with a <v Speaker 1>go behind. They run the ropes. Jake holds onto the rope, <v Speaker 1>so Scott McGee, you know, trying to do the O'Connor <v Speaker 1>roll backflips, and as he backflips and tries to get <v Speaker 1>back to his. <v Speaker 2>Feet, it's the greatest. This is the fucking greatest thing. <v Speaker 1>Jake turns right aroun and what do you know, Scott <v Speaker 1>mcgi's in perfect position to snatch that head up Spike <v Speaker 1>d d T. <v Speaker 2>It is. It may be one of the greatest, like <v Speaker 2>you know, one of the greatest, non uh uh, you know, <v Speaker 2>like targeted ddts right, not like not like setting him up, <v Speaker 2>like waiting for him to become a telegraph right. <v Speaker 1>Like Orton grabs an ark O out of nowhere. <v Speaker 2>Oh, it was just that, it was, but in in <v Speaker 2>it's so much better, so much it's so much better <v Speaker 2>because it he feels like a snake when he does that. <v Speaker 2>He feels like a fucking you know, a cobra that's like, <v Speaker 2>this is going to strike. <v Speaker 1>Well, there's a reason when Norton started doing RK out <v Speaker 1>of Nowhere, he became the viper. <v Speaker 2>There we go, right, So, yeah, that's not as impressive though. <v Speaker 1>No, but I'm saying that you can't help but realize <v Speaker 1>that that's inspired by Jake as much ThReD as Orton <v Speaker 1>gets from being creative there. Jake really was the first <v Speaker 1>one I saw to come with it that way where <v Speaker 1>it was like, at any moment, it's like a bullet <v Speaker 1>in the temple that you did. You didn't even know <v Speaker 1>what gun was pointed at you, but you're just yep, <v Speaker 1>you're out. And it goes black for Scott McGee, and uh, <v Speaker 1>Jake Roberts covers him kind of from a north south position, <v Speaker 1>kind of an unorthodox cover. <v Speaker 2>But Scott McGee is like, slithers over, He slithers over <v Speaker 2>to him. You know, it's it's it's really great. <v Speaker 1>Ship one two three. Jake Roberts defeat Scott McGee in <v Speaker 1>the opening contest here on the Colisseum video Villains of <v Speaker 1>the Squared Circle. Jake in the dark purple and light <v Speaker 1>blue snake stripes pants by the way, he gets the <v Speaker 1>snake bat and Ernie Ladd says, the snake bag. And <v Speaker 1>Ernie Ladd says, why would they let him bring it out? <v Speaker 1>It's out of boss, it's out in the garden. <v Speaker 2>Ernie Ladd called it. It is out and fat has <v Speaker 2>been brought out. <v Speaker 1>And Finkel absolutely SCRAMs with that yellow Madison Square garden <v Speaker 1>mike hanging from the ceiling and yeah, makes the quick <v Speaker 1>announcement of the winter and leaves the ring. Jake has <v Speaker 1>this big thick snake. My god, what a monster this <v Speaker 1>thing was. <v Speaker 2>Apparently it's one hundred and fifty Well, it actually fluctuates <v Speaker 2>in weight. Right in the middle of this moment, Gorilla <v Speaker 2>calls it one hundred pounds and then calls it one <v Speaker 2>hundred and fifty pounds. <v Speaker 1>Well, he's trying to translate the currency so Lord Al <v Speaker 1>would understand. <v Speaker 2>It's very good, it's very true. <v Speaker 1>So it's got the fork tongue, and they're like, you know, <v Speaker 1>they're zooming in close on it, and he just lays <v Speaker 1>it on top of Scott Maggie, just slithering all over him. <v Speaker 1>I got to give these jobbers back then, credit man <v Speaker 1>to lay there. <v Speaker 2>I was just going to say that. I don't think <v Speaker 2>I could allow that to happen to me. <v Speaker 1>The guys that acted like they were still out cold, <v Speaker 1>without even opening their eyes to try to see if <v Speaker 1>the snake is going to fucking eat me alive. That's <v Speaker 1>remarkable that the guys did that. <v Speaker 2>I would be more like bad News Brown. Yeah, like <v Speaker 2>running away and like rubbing, like touching my back and <v Speaker 2>everywhere that it like, I could not allow it to <v Speaker 2>touch me. <v Speaker 1>Well, see, that's fine if Jake didn't let you out, <v Speaker 1>But for these guys, they had to pretend to be <v Speaker 1>knocked out so they can't react. <v Speaker 2>That's these I wouldn't you know what. I'm sorry, I'd <v Speaker 2>no sell like mister perfect. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, like Hercules against said, you're gone. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, not gonna happen. <v Speaker 1>I mean, can you imagine you're sitting there with your <v Speaker 1>eyes closed and you know it's on you, and then <v Speaker 1>you start feeling it move, and it's moving like a <v Speaker 1>continuous stream towards your face, and you can't open your <v Speaker 1>eyes and you can't move. <v Speaker 2>No, I mean you gotta have I mean I imagine <v Speaker 2>that these guys are just like I would imagine maybe <v Speaker 2>Scott McGee has a pet snake at home, no, no, <v Speaker 2>or something, you know, and if he did. <v Speaker 1>There were thirty other guys who laid there for Jake <v Speaker 1>that didn't. <v Speaker 2>But just you're still gotta have some kind of fucking <v Speaker 2>you know, you get to be I imagine if you're not <v Speaker 2>comfortable with that, they're gonna be kind of you know, <v Speaker 2>they're like, well, all right, you can't face Jake. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, I'm sure it was. I'm not sure. Actually, this <v Speaker 1>has been a great question for Jake, Like, were these <v Speaker 1>jobbers incentivized maybe an extra ten bucks, you know what <v Speaker 1>I mean, to get someone to step up. <v Speaker 2>To do this? Like, I guess the question really is this, <v Speaker 2>what if someone what if a jobber didn't want to <v Speaker 2>get yeah, the snake put on him? What happens then? <v Speaker 1>Does anyone have the balls to say that? I mean, <v Speaker 1>why not? <v Speaker 5>Right? <v Speaker 1>Scary as fuck? I'm sure you know, Jake went through <v Speaker 1>a whole demonstration of how it can't hurt you. It's <v Speaker 1>not the kind of snake that can hurt you, but <v Speaker 1>still just couldn't can't imagine. And I hope Jake, and <v Speaker 1>I've never heard him talk about this. I hope Jake <v Speaker 1>realize it's like he owes a lot as brilliant as <v Speaker 1>a performer he was, and as much crazy as he <v Speaker 1>deserves for being a total master of pro wrestling. He <v Speaker 1>he owes those guys who laid there and let him <v Speaker 1>put the snake on him and didn't move a lot <v Speaker 1>of fucking yeah. <v Speaker 2>Credit, that's that's that is absolutely, that's that's a huge <v Speaker 2>part of it as. <v Speaker 1>Much as any guy owes it to jobbers for what <v Speaker 1>they achieved. He remember Terry Funk when we did the <v Speaker 1>lapsed Funk he was. That's like the last part of <v Speaker 1>his book is like I gotta I gotta remember the <v Speaker 1>jobbers because those are the guys that made us all <v Speaker 1>billionaires or put us on a track, and with the <v Speaker 1>full knowledge that they would never be big earners. They <v Speaker 1>didn't do it with any dictation of return. They just <v Speaker 1>did it because they were happy to help, you know, <v Speaker 1>and love and loved wrestling. And so for Jake, I <v Speaker 1>mean the jobbers he encountered in this in this run <v Speaker 1>where way worth way more than their weight in gold. <v Speaker 1>Yeap for willing being willing to do this. So Gorilla says, <v Speaker 1>they bite as well. And there's amazing guttural sounds coming <v Speaker 1>from Lord Pepo. <v Speaker 2>Actually those those snakes don't bite, that's what point. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, right, but amazing guttural sounds coming from Lord Alfred <v Speaker 1>Hayes is the snake. This is still a novelty, you know, <v Speaker 1>Jake is still really new in the WWF when we <v Speaker 1>see this, So this is really like a shock that <v Speaker 1>this is taking shape. And Scott Mege is kind of <v Speaker 1>convulsing under the weight of the one hundred and fifty <v Speaker 1>pound boa gorilla says, and Lad says, how uncouth can <v Speaker 1>you be? It's a great question. And then Jake lays <v Speaker 1>on the ropes and his legs spread so the snake <v Speaker 1>can slither to him with his legs open. So bizarre. <v Speaker 1>Crowd's kind of in a stun silence. You know, they're <v Speaker 1>not screaming bloody murder. <v Speaker 2>They're just like no, And they're also you know, I mean, <v Speaker 2>you know, think about it. They would grow to cheer this. <v Speaker 1>They would you know, Yeah, I mean, that's that's how often, <v Speaker 1>how many times we got to talk about it. The <v Speaker 1>badass heel becomes the biggest face in the industry when <v Speaker 1>he takes his heel ways and points at somebody we <v Speaker 1>don't like. When he uses it for for good. That's <v Speaker 1>every huge baby face ever for the most part. So, <v Speaker 1>so you know, Jake is the snake is slithering and <v Speaker 1>Jake is crawling alongside it talking to it. Gorilla says. <v Speaker 1>The snake appears to be looking for something to eat. <v Speaker 1>So Gorilla a little bit of a Freudian slept there, <v Speaker 1>no question, preferably English style of course. So it's gotten <v Speaker 1>keeping English and I'm thinking, so it comes with what <v Speaker 1>a grilled tomato? <v Speaker 2>Is that? <v Speaker 1>What does English style mean? Crowd starts lightly chanting Hogan <v Speaker 1>because this is around the time I think where Jake <v Speaker 1>laid him out in the snake pit. <v Speaker 9>Mmmm. <v Speaker 1>They were in the feud that never was remember on <v Speaker 1>our YEP Dark Side of the Ring unheard episode on <v Speaker 1>Jake he talks about out that uh snake keeps wrapping <v Speaker 1>itself around Scott McGee's body. <v Speaker 2>I know it is like it is wanting so badly <v Speaker 2>to just crush him. <v Speaker 1>Yes, correct, starting to find a way to make this <v Speaker 1>a meal, you know, yep, fifteen inches around, Gorilla says, <v Speaker 1>And there's a great share out of Jake. Is that <v Speaker 1>a twenty four inch python? Jake, it's got in the bag, <v Speaker 1>brother bro do what what's in the sack. <v Speaker 2>Dude. <v Speaker 1>Oh wow, that's a great one. Look at that, dude, <v Speaker 1>Well you get that? <v Speaker 2>That's crazy? <v Speaker 1>What are the dimensions? <v Speaker 2>Brother? <v Speaker 1>What do you I'm curiously you're going to go out <v Speaker 1>there and talk about the snake, right? And what are <v Speaker 1>you gonna say about it? <v Speaker 2>I just want no, brother? So what kind of snake <v Speaker 2>is it? Dude? What do you? What do you got that? <v Speaker 1>It's a Boa constrictor terry? <v Speaker 2>It's you sure saw a python? <v Speaker 1>Can Sackler can't say I'm sure. I can't say I'm sure. <v Speaker 1>We can k fabite whatever way you want? <v Speaker 2>I mean, well, hold on, dude, I'm listen brother, I'm <v Speaker 2>not talking about kabut. What is this snake? Dude? What <v Speaker 2>are we dealing with? <v Speaker 4>Brother? <v Speaker 1>I think it is a python? <v Speaker 2>I want you know. <v Speaker 1>I'm it's twenty six inches around? <v Speaker 3>Whoa, whoa? <v Speaker 2>Dude? I don't we go again? Let's right? I think <v Speaker 2>when I do, I think we should do, dude. But <v Speaker 2>I think what we gotta do is we you know <v Speaker 2>how we take this up to visit? Man? Brother, I'm <v Speaker 2>thinking of that next level if you know what I'm <v Speaker 2>talking about, dude, and you kind of figure out exactly <v Speaker 2>where we're talking about with these pythons because I got <v Speaker 2>a python too, right, I got a pair of pythons, brother, <v Speaker 2>And I think you know, you'll see you don't see <v Speaker 2>me bringing them to the to the arena dude all <v Speaker 2>the time, like you know, saying hey, look you look <v Speaker 2>at my python, brother. <v Speaker 1>And what's really kind of disturbing, brother, is I think <v Speaker 1>you know that. I think you know that the pythons <v Speaker 1>are my thing. <v Speaker 2>What's kind of like, what's kind of making me feel <v Speaker 2>a little bit messing with my head right now? I <v Speaker 2>just want to you know, I don't want to you know, listen, <v Speaker 2>I know you're new here, brother, and I don't want <v Speaker 2>to take anything away from me because you get a <v Speaker 2>great thing going on. But what I'm talking about you is, <v Speaker 2>I feel like like, you know, and you're coming in here, brother, <v Speaker 2>and you're kind of like, hey, you know, I'm Jason <v Speaker 2>Jake Roberts, I'm the next HULLL Cogan, right. <v Speaker 1>And Jake is following him right up until that point <v Speaker 1>he's like, what how do how do you get there? From? <v Speaker 2>You know, you got like I said, hey, you got <v Speaker 2>the immortal Hull Coagan and over here you got the <v Speaker 2>you know, the Slytherin snake ogn So like. <v Speaker 1>I mean, we don't think if it was a nineteen <v Speaker 1>inch python, brother, but you're coming in here with bigger <v Speaker 1>pythons in holda. <v Speaker 2>I mean you're you're literally saying, dude, my python's bigger <v Speaker 2>than Hulk Hogan's pythons. <v Speaker 1>And so if you think we're gonna work together ever again, brother, <v Speaker 1>you're mistaken. <v Speaker 2>And I just I just want to understand, just trying <v Speaker 2>to get on the same page with you, dude, and <v Speaker 2>you're coming at me with this aggression and this kind <v Speaker 2>of like you know, like brother, I'm taking your spot, dude. <v Speaker 2>And you know, I mean I've heard you say that. <v Speaker 2>You said right now, brother. I can't not hear that, dude, <v Speaker 2>huld Cogan, I'm coming for your spot. Brother, can't unheard. <v Speaker 2>It's unheard. So you know I can't. You know I <v Speaker 2>had that now now that that thing that you said <v Speaker 2>is drilled in my brain. In fact, you came up <v Speaker 2>to me, you approached me, brother, and you said, I <v Speaker 2>want to tell you something, hul Cogan. I'm taking your spot, dude, <v Speaker 2>like right now you said that. <v Speaker 1>Right, So, all that considered, brother, I hate to tell you, <v Speaker 1>but in thirty five years, you're going to be telling documentarians, <v Speaker 1>brother that you could have made millions of dollars with <v Speaker 1>hul Cogan but the company wouldn't let you. <v Speaker 2>And I'm just gonna say you, brother, And the thing is, <v Speaker 2>you're gonna say, I blew it, Dude, I blew with <v Speaker 2>Hull Cogan because I came in here and I was <v Speaker 2>still his torch. <v Speaker 1>Well, I came in here. I tried to put one <v Speaker 1>over on him by getting on TV and talking about <v Speaker 1>bigger pythons. <v Speaker 2>You know. And brother, that's just you know, you don't <v Speaker 2>see me saying, hey, you know what, I got a <v Speaker 2>bigger snake than you do. I saw cool. It's just <v Speaker 2>not cool. <v Speaker 1>And brother, and my apologies if you know, you're just <v Speaker 1>as frictum as circumstance here and you didn't appreciate what <v Speaker 1>signal you were sending to me by talking about a <v Speaker 1>twenty six inch python. <v Speaker 2>Dude. And brother, I just want to say, dude, the <v Speaker 2>fact that you came in here and literally said. <v Speaker 1>Jake Asen said a word in like fifteen minutes. <v Speaker 2>I'm gonna steal Hulk Coogan's wife. Brother, Like, who talks <v Speaker 2>like that? Dude? Who even jokes like that? <v Speaker 1>Brother, How can we work together going forward when you <v Speaker 1>put something like that? <v Speaker 2>How can I when I think that you're gonna put <v Speaker 2>your snake in my wife's pussy? <v Speaker 1>Is that Bubba talking or Hogan? <v Speaker 2>So I you know, I think it's. <v Speaker 1>Best, brother, Honestly, if you leave the building. <v Speaker 2>Brother, I think it's best, dude, if you just kind <v Speaker 2>of go in your way and go someplace else, find <v Speaker 2>another job, dude, because you know what Jake, the snak <v Speaker 2>was Aburts is done. <v Speaker 1>And that, and he was, and he was, but this <v Speaker 1>was right before then, This is right before his chances <v Speaker 1>of headlining in the the golden age of Hull, Hogan <v Speaker 1>and all the way that can line your pockets were <v Speaker 1>deprived of the snake man. And we get a great <v Speaker 1>shot of Jake hovering over the snake and laying on <v Speaker 1>it like it's a fucking pillow. <v Speaker 2>Yep. And it's weird hearing the fans chant for Hogan <v Speaker 2>for the during this it is I mean. <v Speaker 1>I know they cheered for Jake, you know, when he <v Speaker 1>attacked Hogan, and that's kind of the reason got derailed. <v Speaker 1>But I didn't know that they were associating Jake with <v Speaker 1>Hogan that much. That when Jake was in the ring. <v Speaker 1>They were thinking about Hogan. <v Speaker 7>It's the La Fan wrestling podcast, the wrestling podcast that <v Speaker 7>knows the boys need their candy. It's the Lampsed Fan. <v Speaker 7>He's an lapsed fan wrestling podcast with Jack and car <v Speaker 7>and JPO. <v Speaker 1>I don't know, mat when did that happen, that whole <v Speaker 1>bit the snake pit. Yeah, let's see, this says November <v Speaker 1>twenty thirty eighty six, So this came before then. Oh, <v Speaker 1>this came before then, so their turn for him before <v Speaker 1>they mixed it up though. I think he may have <v Speaker 1>said some things before that. Yeah, but at the end <v Speaker 1>of the year is when they had those two sellouts <v Speaker 1>in Canada. I think it was on How Shows Jake <v Speaker 1>versus Hogan. Then knows it and all of a sudden, <v Speaker 1>we're transported to Shaye Stadium in nineteen eighty. All of <v Speaker 1>a sudden are you can see green baseball grass in <v Speaker 1>the background, and you can see August ninth, specific you <v Speaker 1>can see the maroon canvas and the silver ropes and <v Speaker 1>the navy buckles. Yep, this is the show. So this <v Speaker 1>would have been eighty This would have been Bruno. <v Speaker 2>Ciche Stadium show. Yeah, this is the it's the Brunus Obisco, <v Speaker 2>It's the It's Hogan andre Ye all that shop. <v Speaker 1>We sound best of volume one. <v Speaker 2>On the call Volume one. Yeah yeah. <v Speaker 1>So on that card was Pat Patterson versus tor Kamata, <v Speaker 1>and Gorilla says that tor Kamada literally did a Pearl <v Speaker 1>Harbor job and Pat Patterson I got. <v Speaker 2>I got that a whole thing because he does a <v Speaker 2>whole fucking bunch of shit. <v Speaker 4>Here right now, we're looking at tor Kamata, who literally <v Speaker 4>did a Pearl Harbor job on Pat Patterson before this <v Speaker 4>match ever got underway, Dick Crole having one a heck <v Speaker 4>of a time maintaining any kind of order. Patterson still <v Speaker 4>with his ring jacket on. Oh, the big jap with <v Speaker 4>a martial arts Look at that three hundred pounds straight <v Speaker 4>up in the air one football. <v Speaker 1>Wow, I'm glad you played that on a bit and didn't. <v Speaker 1>I didn't know how I was gonna handle it when <v Speaker 1>I came to that. <v Speaker 2>Nope, nope. I was like, you know, you got to <v Speaker 2>hear it when it happens. Jesus Christ, geez, good thing <v Speaker 2>they didn't. <v Speaker 1>Gorilla decided the title Torquamadi's biography. Yeah yeah, Pearl Harbor <v Speaker 1>job definitely not the job that Patterson was looking to <v Speaker 1>have done to him on this particular in his purple <v Speaker 1>ring jacket. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, Jesus fucking Gorilla, has this show? Has this show <v Speaker 2>ever been? <v Speaker 5>Like? <v Speaker 2>This show was never released on even on the old <v Speaker 2>network in its entirety, right. <v Speaker 1>I don't remember seeing it as a you know, a <v Speaker 1>three hour file or whatever. No, I don't. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, I mean I don't know if they've got all <v Speaker 2>the footage or not. But I mean I certainly they've <v Speaker 2>got enough. <v Speaker 1>To well they do because it was close circuited. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, but I mean I don't know if they still <v Speaker 2>have it, but because like it's it'd be wild, Like, actually, <v Speaker 2>do this show like this? This show would be great. <v Speaker 1>You know, someone's got as much as we decry the <v Speaker 1>state of things, you know, around the archives and Netflix <v Speaker 1>and everything, you hear Triple Ah, you talk about it, <v Speaker 1>he's a guy who actually and he's talked about it. <v Speaker 1>He sees a Matt from the eighties on at the office. <v Speaker 1>He stops and watches it, and it transports him back <v Speaker 1>and he gets that he doesn't necessarily it doesn't mean <v Speaker 1>up and down the corporate chain, they see value in <v Speaker 1>putting resources into making it easy and fun to access <v Speaker 1>this stuff. But he does get it, and you know, <v Speaker 1>we don't have to. It can be off the books, <v Speaker 1>like where are your guys? We will we will do <v Speaker 1>the right thing with this footage. Seriously, you know, no <v Speaker 1>one will. Well also no one. There's there's a lot <v Speaker 1>of people that could really curate this stuff brilliantly out there. <v Speaker 1>But I think if you put it in our hands. <v Speaker 2>Oh it would, you'd have something very very special. <v Speaker 1>Correct, all right? So is this is this? <v Speaker 2>It might have found it. <v Speaker 1>It would surprise me if they never released it. But <v Speaker 1>I'm sitting here thinking, you know what, I think they <v Speaker 1>did it on twenty four to seven. You know how <v Speaker 1>not everything they put on twenty four seven ever showed <v Speaker 1>up on the network in its entirety. <v Speaker 2>It's like, come on, how come I have a fucking <v Speaker 2>you know, why do you do that? <v Speaker 1>Well, that entire territories they bought, the ICW library, the <v Speaker 1>old PAFO promotion, they don't even fucking it's no the fucker. <v Speaker 2>Can I tell you something that really pisses me off? <v Speaker 2>There's something that really fucking pisses me off, and I <v Speaker 2>really cannot stand it. It drives me absolutely fucking bonkers. <v Speaker 2>Is that you got ass clowns out there? Okay? Who <v Speaker 2>will go? And they will uh, they'll put up a <v Speaker 2>video on YouTube and they'll have their the thumbnail be <v Speaker 2>an actual image from the show, and they'll say, like, <v Speaker 2>I got it, says right here wwe showdown at Shaye <v Speaker 2>nineteen eighty full event. I'm like, I gotta click on <v Speaker 2>that and I gotta I gotta rip it right now. <v Speaker 2>It's video game footage like they've ran it. <v Speaker 1>Oh, I hate that that. <v Speaker 2>Yes, it drives me fucking insane, insane. It like, I'm like, <v Speaker 2>what are you? What do you fucking think you are? Right? <v Speaker 2>You're just a fucking idiot, all right, number one? You <v Speaker 2>took the time to do that, right, and then you <v Speaker 2>fucking deceive me by making me think. <v Speaker 1>You had the real fucking very nice, is it? <v Speaker 2>No? No, I fucking it makes you hate the internet. <v Speaker 1>It's so bad to Kamada Irish whips Pat Patterson and <v Speaker 1>drop kicks him off the whip. He goes up top <v Speaker 1>with his fat ass uh it really is, and takes off, <v Speaker 1>but pat Patterson moves out of the way, so he <v Speaker 1>crashes and burns. Patterson scrambles to the top rope and <v Speaker 1>flies with the bombs away knee drop that he did <v Speaker 1>for years and years. Kamada rolls over though to avoid <v Speaker 1>being pinned. Pat with tremendous floating bob of blonde hair <v Speaker 1>on his head. I can tell it's Pat Patterson from <v Speaker 1>four hundred miles away. <v Speaker 2>You really can. I mean, Jesus Christ. His hair fucking <v Speaker 2>glistens in the sunlight. <v Speaker 1>Be sure we have a one camera shot here with <v Speaker 1>a zooming in and out for this high level production. <v Speaker 1>Back then, Gorilla calls tor Quamada devious. There it is there, <v Speaker 1>take a shot. <v Speaker 2>If you're Japanese, you're devious. Say it. <v Speaker 1>Eventually, Pat Patterson with right hands in the corner like <v Speaker 1>he used to throw those hands. We talked about it <v Speaker 1>when we did the tribute show when he passed away Man. <v Speaker 1>The way he bent at the wrist with his punches measured, <v Speaker 1>you know, like he was. He wasn't just throwing a punch. <v Speaker 1>He knew exactly where in your face. He was trying <v Speaker 1>to land great punches, throwing those big rights in the corner. <v Speaker 1>Whipped to the corner as well. Since tor Kamada into <v Speaker 1>Patterson's backdrop, I don't know, Tor Kamata kind of looking <v Speaker 1>a bit like Abdullah the Butcher out there with the waistline. <v Speaker 2>That actually is It's very true. <v Speaker 1>You can see photogs kneeling in the grass of Shade <v Speaker 1>Stadium on the far side of the ring. <v Speaker 2>You know what I like best is like, are the <v Speaker 2>the fucking It's like they know they're on TV, you know, <v Speaker 2>but these crew members who just kind of like walking <v Speaker 2>nonchalantly around the ring and like chatting with other crew members. <v Speaker 2>It is the most distracting thing. <v Speaker 1>Well, it's it's reflective of an era where you know, <v Speaker 1>wrestling was televised like any other sport, like the sport, right, <v Speaker 1>the sport didn't have TV in mind when it decided <v Speaker 1>who went where and who did what. The cameras were <v Speaker 1>just there to document it happening organically, and until Vince <v Speaker 1>got all fucking animated about being a TV producer. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, that's all it was. <v Speaker 1>It was like, we're just pointing cameras that what happens <v Speaker 1>at the garden or schae Stadium, and what's been happening <v Speaker 1>in these arenas for forty years? <v Speaker 2>You know, Yeah that nobody all. <v Speaker 1>Those people you recognize at ringside at the garden, like <v Speaker 1>that guy with the brown sweater that walks the wrestlers out. <v Speaker 1>He would never be in that position today. You know, <v Speaker 1>that would be a tightly controlled environment to be in <v Speaker 1>frame like that. But now, back then, it was just like, yeah, <v Speaker 1>they kind of knew they were on camera, but it <v Speaker 1>didn't It wasn't a big production. It didn't feel like <v Speaker 1>you were walking onto a movie set and like crashing <v Speaker 1>the thing. It was just like, yeah, well there's a <v Speaker 1>camera on this, but this isn't a TV production, you <v Speaker 1>know what I mean? Right, So Patterson goes back to <v Speaker 1>punches in the corner Grillas's pat Patterson knows to break <v Speaker 1>some rules here and there, knows how to do it <v Speaker 1>if he has to. And uh, they talked about him <v Speaker 1>declining a challenge from the Fabulous Mulla. Patterson declined to <v Speaker 1>challenge from the Fabulous Mula to wrestle. I have to say, <v Speaker 1>I don't know what that is. I don't know what <v Speaker 1>angle that they're talking about. <v Speaker 2>That almost sounds like a I don't know that sounds <v Speaker 2>like a rib. <v Speaker 1>Maybe sounds like maybe Mulla got he got in his <v Speaker 1>face when he was doing you know, commentary at the <v Speaker 1>the Allentown taping. <v Speaker 2>So I was actually thinking that it sounds like they're <v Speaker 2>like a like a like a joke at him being gay. <v Speaker 1>Oh maybe, yeah, yeah. Monsoon would never be able to <v Speaker 1>help himself. He's the one that told the mel Phillips <v Speaker 1>foot jokes and everything. Right, when people realize sounds like <v Speaker 1>they could never walk back. They could never claim to <v Speaker 1>not know what he was up to. After that, after <v Speaker 1>people realized the significance, the same thing with them. You know, <v Speaker 1>the Steve Lombardi school of self defense, you know, around <v Speaker 1>uh fighting off Pat Patterson, and he'd he'd say that <v Speaker 1>when uh, you know, a wrestler was in a position <v Speaker 1>where he's being like, you know, waist locked or a <v Speaker 1>guy's behind him, you know, yeah, yep, Terry gard No, <v Speaker 1>it was the Terry Garvin school of self defense. Oh my, <v Speaker 1>but he'd say it when Steve Lombardi was in the ring. <v Speaker 2>That's worse. <v Speaker 1>Yes, everyone said things about him and Pat so, including <v Speaker 1>Kamala's book if you want some published testimony around that, <v Speaker 1>which we've read from in the past. So Torkamada is <v Speaker 1>now digging in and finds forty two pounds of salt gorilla. <v Speaker 1>Monsoon says that Torquamada has forty two pounds of salt. <v Speaker 2>Well, I'm glad, but enough. <v Speaker 1>About what Gorilla put on his lunch. <v Speaker 2>That's how much salts in those fucking hot dogs he has. God. <v Speaker 1>So then yeah, because this is Villains of the Squared Circle, right, <v Speaker 1>we've got to have a salt throwing Japanese heel Ye <v Speaker 1>throws it and referee Dick Kroll takes it in the <v Speaker 1>face because Patterson gets out of the Well, what I <v Speaker 1>was in the ring with Patterson and all of a sudden, <v Speaker 1>I'm on the floor. My face is covered in white. <v Speaker 1>Patterson throwing punches like crazy with those whipping wrists, but <v Speaker 1>Deck rolls calling for the bell because he's going to <v Speaker 1>disqualify toward Kamada for that salt throwing, and there it is. <v Speaker 1>Patterson then slams and covers toward Kamata and Dick Kroll. <v Speaker 1>Fuck it, I'll count him. Even though he already called <v Speaker 1>for I know you can hear the bell. He still counts, <v Speaker 1>but then again just counts one. He just does a <v Speaker 1>one count something like the ref realizes, oh yeah, I <v Speaker 1>disqualified the gual. <v Speaker 2>You shouldn't discounting. Oh my god. <v Speaker 1>So that's that little Monsoon says, you know, I can't <v Speaker 1>do that here in the word Wrestling Federation or anywhere <v Speaker 1>else for that matter. So yeah, you can't. You can't <v Speaker 1>just walk around throwing forty two pounds of salt in <v Speaker 1>people's face. That's that's accurate. <v Speaker 2>No, you can't, I mean not even you know, that's <v Speaker 2>like the stuff you go out that like a you know, <v Speaker 2>one of those wholesale restaurant places. <v Speaker 1>You know, it's like a costco forty two pounds of salt. <v Speaker 1>So now we go back to nineteen seventy three, and <v Speaker 1>this is one of the those golden moments we talked <v Speaker 1>about in part one. This is Pedro Morales at is <v Speaker 1>the height of his powers in the Garden as the <v Speaker 1>title holder. Jean with a quick voice over, I don't <v Speaker 1>know if you have that or if we can jump right. <v Speaker 2>In hold on here, let me uh hold on one second. Sorry, <v Speaker 2>no problem, I've. <v Speaker 1>Got against George the Animal Steel. <v Speaker 2>I don't have the intro for this one, that's problem. <v Speaker 2>I can tell you it's from June thirtieth, nineteen seventy three, <v Speaker 2>at Madison Square Gardens. <v Speaker 1>Man a summer night in seventy three at the Garden <v Speaker 1>sounds right to me. <v Speaker 2>Yep I. <v Speaker 1>No, Steel is called by Gene Okerland an absolute master <v Speaker 1>of the foreign object, so watch for that. Bunny says <v Speaker 1>Steel is on the downside now because he's been hanging <v Speaker 1>with Louell benow On basically being a baby face, and <v Speaker 1>we can't have that. And Heenan says, all he's doing <v Speaker 1>is chasing woman. He's not an effective athlete anymore. George Steele, <v Speaker 1>and then Studd has no comment on George the animal <v Speaker 1>Steel because he's not one of us anymore. <v Speaker 2>Oh god. <v Speaker 1>So in the match, Pedro goes off with the right hand, <v Speaker 1>but Steel is nursing a foreign object in his hand. <v Speaker 1>You can see him, you know, hiding in his trunks <v Speaker 1>and stuff. So that's the that's the heel tactic du <v Speaker 1>jour being displayed in this match. And he jabs the <v Speaker 1>gut of Pedro with a foreign object, which you never <v Speaker 1>really quite discern what it is. I guess it's supposed <v Speaker 1>to hap. <v Speaker 2>No, I don't even think there is one. It feels <v Speaker 2>like that they're like, like they're just an invisible thing, <v Speaker 2>isn't that. He's like, that's honestly what it feels like, <v Speaker 2>because like you don't never see what it is. You <v Speaker 2>never see anything really sticking out of his hand, not <v Speaker 2>that I could see anyway, and it just looks like <v Speaker 2>maybe he's just got a fist around his you know, <v Speaker 2>he's making a fist and then just like making it, <v Speaker 2>you know, stabbing him with something that's invisible. <v Speaker 1>Only wrestling when he's a fake foreign object, a non <v Speaker 1>existent I can I can see the after mag headline <v Speaker 1>already when Steel the sides turned baby face. You know, <v Speaker 1>it's like exclusive. I had never had anything in my <v Speaker 1>hand all those years, George Steele confessed. <v Speaker 2>Exactly, That's exactly what it would be. Hate me. <v Speaker 1>I was miss I was. I was maligned on fairly <v Speaker 1>my whole career. Yep, But I never wanted to say <v Speaker 1>anything about it until today. <v Speaker 2>By the way, I found I found the show. <v Speaker 1>Thank you, full fully full card full Cardan Andrey Yep, yep. <v Speaker 2>Hogan, Andre I got two hours, seventeen minutes. <v Speaker 1>It's like we're a lot closer screening. <v Speaker 2>Yep. I got the whole thing. I'm right downloading it now. <v Speaker 2>Ours coming coming soon, coming soon. <v Speaker 1>So yeah, Steele's nursing the object. He jabs Pedro and <v Speaker 1>the gut, and Pedro's writhing. This basically like the chiks stick, <v Speaker 1>you know, with the spike the abdula stick ref checks <v Speaker 1>in the corner, but Steel is hiding the gimmick. He <v Speaker 1>comes over and jabs Pedro again, and Pedro falls under <v Speaker 1>the rope. Steel runs over and stomps on Pedro. Morales <v Speaker 1>and the girls in particular shriek when he starts doing that. <v Speaker 1>Oh yeah, young Vince McMahon, the call. He would have <v Speaker 1>just started doing TV announcing at this point, like seventy one, <v Speaker 1>seventy two p the ring an now sto. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, no shit, that's true. I didn't even think of that. <v Speaker 1>It's been one of his earliest garden shows. <v Speaker 2>That's wild we had. Hey, yeah, it's the forty fifth <v Speaker 2>anniversary of this sash by the way, August. <v Speaker 1>What I think we are going to do it. <v Speaker 2>I think we're gonna have to do it. <v Speaker 1>I like anniversaries. Mm hmmm. See that's the kind of <v Speaker 1>thing you put us in charge. That show is going <v Speaker 1>to be uploaded y right the correct day, right exactly. <v Speaker 2>Uh. <v Speaker 1>Mismatched turn buckles in terms of colors. That that tells <v Speaker 1>you're in a certain era. <v Speaker 2>Oh, I know, it doesn't it it? It really makes me. <v Speaker 2>It makes I think to myself when I see when <v Speaker 2>I even though I know obviously there were decades before <v Speaker 2>they did the you know, the the blue turn buckle <v Speaker 2>pads with the W logo and the red, white and <v Speaker 2>blue ropes, I get it, like there are decades before <v Speaker 2>that didn't matter. I still I get. I'm like, what's <v Speaker 2>going on here? Why? Very yeah, very challenging, very nervous, <v Speaker 2>very nervous. It makes me feel very uncomfortable. The anxiety <v Speaker 2>goes up. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, yeah, you feel scratchy. <v Speaker 2>It's not good. <v Speaker 1>It's not good, you know. And that's that's something that <v Speaker 1>that's wild to think about. Like the generation before they <v Speaker 1>standardized the rings, which from what I understand it was <v Speaker 1>basically they were having when they first started going national, <v Speaker 1>they were just having bad experiences renting rings from the <v Speaker 1>cities they'd go to. It was just an unpredictable situation <v Speaker 1>and it would be could be a disaster if the <v Speaker 1>ring wasn't up to par, if the ring broke, I mean, <v Speaker 1>I refund everybody to a nightmare. So they were convinced <v Speaker 1>relatively early on in their national expansion that we just <v Speaker 1>we need to bite the bullet here and just fund <v Speaker 1>our own ring and fund our own crew to travel <v Speaker 1>everywhere to set it up. And that's when the rings <v Speaker 1>started taking on that homogeneous appearance. But before they realized that, <v Speaker 1>when they were sort of like you know, when they <v Speaker 1>their success was front running their infrastructure. You know, they <v Speaker 1>were growing faster than they could set up the support <v Speaker 1>for it. They were just using whatever ring was available <v Speaker 1>in the cities that they would go to, which you <v Speaker 1>know was like once or twice a year. As they were, <v Speaker 1>as we've talked about over the years, trying every market <v Speaker 1>and trying to test every territory with their their New <v Speaker 1>York stars. And it's wild to think that back then, <v Speaker 1>like the fans, it never it never crossed their mind. <v Speaker 1>Like I bet if you asked an old territory fan, <v Speaker 1>they wouldn't have any recollection of what the ring looked like, <v Speaker 1>you know, before the eighties. Like it just didn't matter. <v Speaker 1>I mean, they remember what it looked like. It wasn't <v Speaker 1>like it had to look a certain way, which is <v Speaker 1>an afrobright that's the ring, But who cares about that's <v Speaker 1>watch the wrestlers were. To us, it's it's vital, it's <v Speaker 1>vital that that context be just right, that setting be <v Speaker 1>just right because they dialed it in in the Hasbro era. <v Speaker 1>I mean, that's that's what comes down to, is they <v Speaker 1>perfected it yep, yeah, exactly. And the fact that when <v Speaker 1>they when they go nostalgia, they go back there Sarenay's <v Speaker 1>main event. Me the most recent example tells us that <v Speaker 1>was the perfect blend. The aesthetic was dialed in. It <v Speaker 1>looked polished, it looked professional, It looked awesome, but it <v Speaker 1>also looked real exactly. It didn't, you know, look over produced, right. <v Speaker 1>It looked like a sporting event. It did not look <v Speaker 1>like a fucking television cartoon. <v Speaker 2>Oh my god. <v Speaker 1>The more I think about that Netflix display, all the <v Speaker 1>bells and whistles, it's just like, Guys, I don't know, man, <v Speaker 1>I don't know if if there's like a community of <v Speaker 1>people that I don't know about in television that like <v Speaker 1>really give you props for that kind of stuff. Maybe <v Speaker 1>there is, Maybe there's some constituency they're catering to that <v Speaker 1>that wins them brownie points by going over the top <v Speaker 1>with all these experimental production techniques. But I'm just sitting <v Speaker 1>there waiting for something to feel, you know. <v Speaker 2>I know, exactly, Like, what is this like? <v Speaker 1>Why why do they still want to impress me with <v Speaker 1>their fucking cameras? Like I get it, you're a state <v Speaker 1>of the art, Like it doesn't I. <v Speaker 2>Mean it, but it's like, why do you have to <v Speaker 2>do it like that? Like it would be actually more <v Speaker 2>impressive to have the ability to do it and make <v Speaker 2>it just seem like a like a real I don't know, <v Speaker 2>something something different absolutely and something you know, simpler. <v Speaker 1>Well, here's the thing. If like this ring it was blue, red, <v Speaker 1>and green turnbuckle pads, they could just adjust the LED <v Speaker 1>settings backstage and change It's true, change river color they want, that's. <v Speaker 2>Change the the LED turnbuckle pads. <v Speaker 1>Yes, next, Yeah, turn buckle pads that change colors. <v Speaker 2>I know. And you know what, you know what will <v Speaker 2>happen whenever it gets someone gets whipped into it, It'll like, <v Speaker 2>you know, like there'll be an effect. <v Speaker 1>Didn't they pull that once where someone threw someone into <v Speaker 1>the wall, the video wall and they put a crack <v Speaker 1>in the video wall, like a picture of a crack. <v Speaker 2>That something like that happened during during COVID at the Thunderdome. <v Speaker 2>Was it, Yeah, were like they like threw you know, <v Speaker 2>they threw them into the the quote unquote crowd of <v Speaker 2>the with all the fucking computer. <v Speaker 1>Monitors, well, the time to be alive. <v Speaker 2>That was fucking Seriously, I felt like we've never. <v Speaker 1>Come back, Like we're all gonna die and this is <v Speaker 1>the last. <v Speaker 2>Seriously, that was like what, I don't know what if? <v Speaker 2>You know? It felt like decades were gonna go by <v Speaker 2>before we had live sporting events. <v Speaker 1>Amazing. Yeah, I like I cringe when I think about <v Speaker 1>some of the commentary I was offering back then, like <v Speaker 1>you know about how it's never going to be we're <v Speaker 1>never going to feel comfortable being, you know, in huge <v Speaker 1>settings like that. Again, it's what a fuck? <v Speaker 2>You really didn't You didn't, You really didn't. <v Speaker 1>The end When when the end isn't clear or discernible, <v Speaker 1>it's hard to it's hard to put yourself there. <v Speaker 2>It's hard to be positive. That's right. I'm gonna think <v Speaker 2>the worst. <v Speaker 1>Absolutely, I'm an American. That's right, the land of optimism, <v Speaker 1>Except as it regards your fellow man, then it's ultimate synesism. <v Speaker 2>Exactly. <v Speaker 1>Whip and steal with a great slam off the ropes, <v Speaker 1>the foreign object under the throat, Vince McMahon tells us <v Speaker 1>as the ref is admonishing George Steele and talking to him. <v Speaker 1>Of course, George Steele responds to this admonishment by biting <v Speaker 1>the turnbuckle and that gets the crowd hot. So that <v Speaker 1>was a heel thing he did before it was a <v Speaker 1>baby facing thing he did. <v Speaker 2>He is such a he is a great, great heel. <v Speaker 2>It looks like a fucking movie monster. He's scary, he <v Speaker 2>really is. He's scary, he is. He is Tod Johnson. <v Speaker 1>Pedro stands and the ref goes to a stands up <v Speaker 1>and it goes to the gut and when he throws <v Speaker 1>to the gut, man, you ready, this is the moment <v Speaker 1>where he finally bounces back after being attacked. As we've <v Speaker 1>outlined with that for an object, here we go, Hi, <v Speaker 1>why all right? <v Speaker 10>That's no plug? <v Speaker 11>Right? <v Speaker 2>Not peas now. <v Speaker 12>Telling a fine? <v Speaker 8>How you gonna say that is right now? <v Speaker 1>Just the excitement events having to scream into the mic <v Speaker 1>because you can't hear himself talk like. <v Speaker 2>To to be to achieve that, to right and to <v Speaker 2>to like it's amazing to think that that that this thing, <v Speaker 2>this match has got people so emotionally ravenous. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, it's like you're watching usgi's fight Nazis and you <v Speaker 1>like your cheer seriously exactly. <v Speaker 2>I mean they're watching like they they they want you know, <v Speaker 2>It's funny we talk about the Attitude era about people <v Speaker 2>fucking being hungry to watch a wrestler die, Like, it's <v Speaker 2>very similar in this regard. It's very primal in that <v Speaker 2>they want to see Pedro just rip the shit right <v Speaker 2>out of fucking George Steel's ass. Absolutely, Like if. <v Speaker 1>You see mother's face it if you see a video <v Speaker 1>of like somebody stealing something from someone's hands and trying <v Speaker 1>to run away and then someone cuts them off and <v Speaker 1>fucks them up, like that's that that's the part of <v Speaker 1>humanity they're tapping into. <v Speaker 2>Like I if I were, if I were Triple H, <v Speaker 2>I would use clips like that to say, how can <v Speaker 2>we get fans to react like this? Yeah, you get <v Speaker 2>fans to act like that, and everybody's gonna want to <v Speaker 2>watch your television show, I would think. <v Speaker 1>So, I mean, it's so it's so far gone as <v Speaker 1>far as like they don't think they can get that <v Speaker 1>without weapons and stuff. Now, I mean at tribal combat match, <v Speaker 1>Roman should be a guy that can do this, Yes, <v Speaker 1>and he's involved in fucking the most ridiculous gimmick matches. <v Speaker 1>Of everybody, there's there's only there's only one guy that <v Speaker 1>I know who has done that, not even close to this. <v Speaker 1>But the closest that I've seen that with something so simple. <v Speaker 2>Is MJF. When we were at the Boston Garden that. <v Speaker 1>Time, Oh, the closest Boston garden. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, you and I went to the Boston Garden to <v Speaker 2>go see a aw show. <v Speaker 1>Oh you're talking about the right the day. You're not <v Speaker 1>talking about all Land. You talking about the dynamite we <v Speaker 1>went to, Yeah, down, I. <v Speaker 2>Went to Adam was Adam Coal and and they made <v Speaker 2>this the big fucking deal about the simple suicide. And <v Speaker 2>when it happened, right, And when it happened, people went <v Speaker 2>fucking crazy for it. <v Speaker 1>And you know what's interesting about is they're going crazy <v Speaker 1>because they're they're going crazy kind of ironically. <v Speaker 2>But it's just the same. I don't I don't care, <v Speaker 2>there's no difference. Still, there's still an emotional investment and. <v Speaker 1>Still found a way to maximize reaction to effort, which <v Speaker 1>is which is what's what's impressive. No matter how many <v Speaker 1>kind of psychological pieces of gymnastics you have to do <v Speaker 1>to get there, that's that's the nirvana of pro wrestling. <v Speaker 2>I think I told him how I felt about that. <v Speaker 2>I'm sure you did on the movie set. I feel <v Speaker 2>like I did. I think I told him, like you know, <v Speaker 2>when I when I went, when I felt comfortable around him, <v Speaker 2>and I was like, I gotta tell you, like this <v Speaker 2>was it, you know, like these were huge things like yeah, <v Speaker 2>and you know, because. <v Speaker 1>All the credit to them, But the fact of the <v Speaker 1>matter is when he's on pay per view, he's still <v Speaker 1>jumping off ropes through tables, He's you know, he's still <v Speaker 1>he pretty close to what we're talking about. But even <v Speaker 1>he can't put himself, not beyond of. <v Speaker 2>Course, of course, like there there is that I don't think. <v Speaker 2>I don't, but I think that is. It's it's a <v Speaker 2>it's a weird thing. Like I know, people always blame it. <v Speaker 2>That's what the way it is. Now. I'm like, it <v Speaker 2>is what you make it. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, you can't tell me that people don't have a choice. <v Speaker 2>Like if you you know, yeah, maybe maybe it would <v Speaker 2>take a while. I mean we've said this before. If <v Speaker 2>it may take a while for people to kind of <v Speaker 2>adjust to it, I'm not saying it would be an <v Speaker 2>overnight thing. But you can, you can recalibrate. Yeah, the <v Speaker 2>wrestling fans brain into thinking that this stuff matters, that <v Speaker 2>every single fucking move mattens exactly. <v Speaker 1>If you can convince them that like a spear, well, <v Speaker 1>spears maybe a bad. If you still can convince them, <v Speaker 1>which you can, that live Morgan's finisher hurts and put <v Speaker 1>someone down, you can get in some of anything still, right. <v Speaker 2>I mean, look, is it that hard to to to <v Speaker 2>you know, really make people think that a punch can <v Speaker 2>cause that much damage and create that much of a <v Speaker 2>reaction from people. <v Speaker 1>I don't all, no, but a punch is something. It's sacred, <v Speaker 1>you know. It's not a transition thing. It's a thing <v Speaker 1>that used to master. It's the thing you used to yep. <v Speaker 1>Because you know, the fact of the matter is you <v Speaker 1>can only throw so many punches in a real fight, right, <v Speaker 1>So when you kind of approach the construction of the <v Speaker 1>match around that principle instead of acting like you have <v Speaker 1>this video game like Unlimited, you know, a series of <v Speaker 1>punches you can throw, then all of a sudden, the <v Speaker 1>crowd is pulling for every punch because they know you <v Speaker 1>can't just keep punching this guy forever. And so they're <v Speaker 1>hoping this is the one that really puts him on <v Speaker 1>his back foot and gets the hero in a position <v Speaker 1>to win. Cody's pretty close, Cody. Cody can get that <v Speaker 1>out of people still with kind of like a modern <v Speaker 1>architecture of you know, here's my five moves on the <v Speaker 1>comeback and all that, which isn't you know these guys, <v Speaker 1>even though it was much more basic back than the <v Speaker 1>Bruno's in the Pagers, it still was a formula it comeback. <v Speaker 1>You know, it was almost always the same. It's just <v Speaker 1>now there's you know, a couple of spring boards in <v Speaker 1>there and everything like that. But but yeah, it's uh, <v Speaker 1>you know, when you hear about Bronson Reid, he jumped <v Speaker 1>off the War Games cage, you shattered this poor man <v Speaker 1>to destroyed his foot at the altar of doing the <v Speaker 1>thing in the one match. You don't have to do <v Speaker 1>that shit in if you did it right him and <v Speaker 1>Jimmy Uso heard his foot too. <v Speaker 2>But he's back. <v Speaker 1>But this guy's gonna be out for half a year, <v Speaker 1>probably with a very intensive surgery on his ankle, because <v Speaker 1>in a War Games you got to jump off the <v Speaker 1>fucking roof, even when your foreigner pounds like what are <v Speaker 1>we doing to the biggest fucking joke be a shame <v Speaker 1>of themselves. It's one thing. It's like a money in <v Speaker 1>the bank and everyone shows up. You know, it's got <v Speaker 1>to be that way. Like, no, you could have you <v Speaker 1>could have taken much better care of the war games. <v Speaker 2>You could have. <v Speaker 1>I mean, I appreciate Triple Ags bringing it back, but <v Speaker 1>I don't appreciate how he gave it. <v Speaker 2>On the roof and that. Yeah. No, listen, it's been. <v Speaker 1>A guyd thirty splashes and. <v Speaker 2>It's been bastardized because you know the the the ironic <v Speaker 2>thing too, is that you know he's he does all <v Speaker 2>this stuff to cater to these these idiots doing these <v Speaker 2>footy floppy shit. Trip Blace never did a fucking flippy <v Speaker 2>floppy ship. He never did that fucking ship. What's he? <v Speaker 2>What's he fucking? <v Speaker 1>In fact, he found ways to banish anybody, right, anybody <v Speaker 1>who got overdoing that stuff. <v Speaker 2>Exactly, He's like, what the fuck? <v Speaker 1>It's fucking wild man, it is anyway, we still have this, <v Speaker 1>We still have fucking villains of the square circle. And <v Speaker 1>so you better believe that explosion happens. You better believe <v Speaker 1>George the animal Steel is flailing in the corner and <v Speaker 1>waving his arms like he's in a full panic as <v Speaker 1>Pedro's landing. <v Speaker 7>A lap fan wrestling podcast, the wrestling podcast that knows <v Speaker 7>the boys need their candy. It's the a Lapsed Fan. <v Speaker 7>He's a Lapsed Fan wrestling podcast with Jack and j P. Soro. <v Speaker 1>I'm still wielding the for an object? Is Grilla Monson? <v Speaker 1>Pardon me soon? George Steele? <v Speaker 2>Well, it's just funny you said that, because I actually <v Speaker 2>wrote down to that. You know, George Steel does legitimately <v Speaker 2>look at gorilla like way more like a gorilla Grinella <v Speaker 2>Monson ever did. <v Speaker 1>That's so true. <v Speaker 2>I always get the Harry over. If anything, Grilla mon <v Speaker 2>Soon should have been called George Steele Steel because he <v Speaker 2>looks like he worked on a steel plant. You know, Yeah, <v Speaker 2>no he does. He looks like the he does. <v Speaker 1>Gorilla Monson looks like the union boss. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, he's a fucking foreman, that's what he is. You know. <v Speaker 1>He was like, he's the guy that media interviews when <v Speaker 1>the teamsters aren't delivering anything. <v Speaker 2>Exactly, and he would say something stud but like what <v Speaker 2>he says there, you know, Yeah, I'm a teachers don't <v Speaker 2>even want to know, a wristwatch from a wrist whatever. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, management doesn't know it's yeah, and kids asked rolling <v Speaker 1>the ground or whatever it is, right right, So he's like, <v Speaker 1>so George Steele is holding his hand behind his leg <v Speaker 1>like he's got a gimmick in it, and all of <v Speaker 1>a sudden his hand is not holding. <v Speaker 2>Anything because there's nothing there. <v Speaker 1>It's like, did he drop something because I didn't see <v Speaker 1>it anyway. <v Speaker 2>Yeah. <v Speaker 1>Before in the feedback show that we just did, we <v Speaker 1>were talking about how it's so wrong to say that <v Speaker 1>the only reason we like the old stuff is because <v Speaker 1>we were kids and we want to be young again. <v Speaker 1>This is a perfect example. I wasn't born for a <v Speaker 1>decade after this, and I want to be third row <v Speaker 1>more than anything in the world for this, you know <v Speaker 1>what I mean. I want to be an adult in <v Speaker 1>nineteen seventy three and go to the matches and scream <v Speaker 1>my head off, or will at least be around people <v Speaker 1>who are screaming their head off. <v Speaker 2>YEP. I want to witness this. <v Speaker 1>This is not me long. This is me objectively assessing <v Speaker 1>the impact and the residence, the emotional resonance of what <v Speaker 1>these are doing in the ring on that crowd and saying, <v Speaker 1>I that's that's the way it's done right, and it's <v Speaker 1>not me remembering being fucking ten years old, So go <v Speaker 1>fuck yourself with that shit. I'm done with that. <v Speaker 2>Yep. Yeah. <v Speaker 1>So then George charges and there's an arm drag by <v Speaker 1>Pedro and then he ducks under the ropes into the <v Speaker 1>corner and Pedro grabs him by the face and hauls <v Speaker 1>off to a massive pop every time Pedro catches up <v Speaker 1>to him, but especially when he tries to like scram <v Speaker 1>Oh yeah, nothing better than a big, like vicious, fucking <v Speaker 1>me marauding heel who all of a sudden transforms into <v Speaker 1>someone running away because holy shit, this guy's gonna kick <v Speaker 1>my ass. Yep, huge pop flash forward a bit, because <v Speaker 1>in the Colosseum tapes they wouldn't show complete matches all <v Speaker 1>the time, you get like that one. <v Speaker 2>Well, especially during here, you know this era, they did <v Speaker 2>all be these fucking clip shows. Yeah, this is just <v Speaker 2>so nauseating. It's like, just give me a whole fucking show. <v Speaker 1>Like a white flash and like you've lost like seven <v Speaker 1>minutes of the match all of a sudden. <v Speaker 2>I don't want to do that. I want I want, <v Speaker 2>you know, give you the real shit, please. <v Speaker 1>Fit as much as they can in the to tape <v Speaker 1>time they have I guess. So you have George Steele <v Speaker 1>now circling trying to keep his distance from Paedro Morales. <v Speaker 1>Then he grabs a headlock and jabs the object again <v Speaker 1>and Pedro takes a big bump. Pedro then rolls to <v Speaker 1>the apron and the referee is feeling him up like <v Speaker 1>a TSA agent bro but Gorilla wants h George Steele <v Speaker 1>snatches him and rams him with a clang into that <v Speaker 1>turnbuckle and then runs around, shouting as Pedro als on <v Speaker 1>the canvas from the impact of that blow. And again <v Speaker 1>and again. Pedro goes into the buckling. Now he's on <v Speaker 1>his knees on the apron. He tries again, does George <v Speaker 1>Steel the slam Pedro's head into the buckle, but no, <v Speaker 1>Pedro grabs him and lands a hard left. They go nuts, <v Speaker 1>and now he rams George Steele's head into the buckle. <v Speaker 1>He come up In's right the whole fucking point of <v Speaker 1>the world. And my god, they go off. When George <v Speaker 1>Steele eats that buckle, I don't mean to eat it <v Speaker 1>the way he would later eat it. I mean he <v Speaker 1>fu when Pedro gives him a taste of his own medicine. Man, <v Speaker 1>these people go off like a. <v Speaker 2>Ball as it's insane. Pedro runs him down in fucking same. <v Speaker 1>Runs him down the apron into the buckle again, and <v Speaker 1>it looks like George Steele's trying to get some color, <v Speaker 1>and indeed he is. You can see him jabbing at <v Speaker 1>his forehead before They bothered to even hide it because <v Speaker 1>people didn't know about that trick. And then the referee <v Speaker 1>steps in front, in fact, steps in front of George <v Speaker 1>Steele's head so that you can't see what he's doing. <v Speaker 1>And again George Steele hits the buckling and shows off <v Speaker 1>his forehead to the people because he's got juice. Pedro <v Speaker 1>goes off in The crowd really gets a little more <v Speaker 1>animated when they realize that Pedro has split open George Steele. <v Speaker 1>That's when the bloodlust really comes out. It's like, oh yeah, <v Speaker 1>when we see blood, we get him more excited. Pedro <v Speaker 1>goes off with lefts and thunderous reaction to each punch <v Speaker 1>that he lands. George Steele is back in the ring, <v Speaker 1>stumbles around, Pedro keeps hauling off on him, and Steel <v Speaker 1>is retrenching. Flash bulbs are going off and Pedro is <v Speaker 1>biting the forehead now and they're. <v Speaker 2>Rabbit, fucking right, fucking Pedro bites the animal absolutely. <v Speaker 1>As he deserves it, because he would buy him exactly <v Speaker 1>another example of what makes an ultimate baby THI question <v Speaker 1>they use heel tactics against the heel and what do <v Speaker 1>they want? <v Speaker 2>Boss? What are they? <v Speaker 1>Why are they so rabid when he bites George Steele's <v Speaker 1>bloody forehead. <v Speaker 2>Because what they want They want revenge, They want the <v Speaker 2>satisfaction because they can't bite George Steel themselves, they need <v Speaker 2>Pedro to do it. <v Speaker 1>For doing it, yep, and George Steele trying to reach <v Speaker 1>for that for an object again, but pedrover the left <v Speaker 1>and then a headlock and starts peppering them with punches <v Speaker 1>inside the headlock, and then the referee just comes over <v Speaker 1>and just calls it off, raises Pedro's hand because of <v Speaker 1>the blood and everything, and basically like a TKO victory <v Speaker 1>here for Pedro Morales and George Seele apparently can't continue. <v Speaker 1>After the bell, Pedro keeps attacking, but George Steele then <v Speaker 1>starts poking him again with the object. The refs in <v Speaker 1>they're trying to separate the two. They're having a brawl <v Speaker 1>and throwing hands. A huge left by Pedro sends Steel <v Speaker 1>stumbling into the corner and now he's literally running away. <v Speaker 2>Hey, he's a fucking conard. <v Speaker 1>Through the ropes up the aisleway on the far side. <v Speaker 1>Pedro Morales is victorious, gets his hand raised the winner <v Speaker 1>Pedro Morales, referee Donnie Field and I think is his <v Speaker 1>name is, stops about eight minutes and sixteen seconds the <v Speaker 1>winn un still heavyweight champion Pagro Morales steal on the <v Speaker 1>steps trying to get back in. I'll give him that. <v Speaker 1>He doesn't just go to the locker room. He comes <v Speaker 1>back out looking for more. Yeah, but official stop than <v Speaker 1>the referee stomps him. And that is one of the <v Speaker 1>more memorable things on this tape. I think it's safe <v Speaker 1>to say. <v Speaker 2>I I yeah, I agree. I mean to me, this <v Speaker 2>is this is without a doubt for me, it's the <v Speaker 2>best thing on the tape. <v Speaker 1>I knew it was a highlight for me, and I <v Speaker 1>was looking forward to you hitting the sound on the <v Speaker 1>deep dive. But when I realized you were so ready <v Speaker 1>and so on the same page that you had it <v Speaker 1>ready for part one, I was like, okay. <v Speaker 2>Oh yeah, that it was something. So it was something <v Speaker 2>so fucking whenever, whenever, whenever there is a reaction like <v Speaker 2>that on one of those old seventies shows, it it <v Speaker 2>makes my heart race because it's just so exciting and <v Speaker 2>it's so so lovely. <v Speaker 1>To see people care much about exactly the rest winning, <v Speaker 1>you know, right, not rooting for a moment. They are <v Speaker 1>rooting for this guy to win. <v Speaker 2>Right. It's very very simple thing. And the ironic part <v Speaker 2>is that in the in in in the fans wanting <v Speaker 2>the guy to win and not being invested in a moment, <v Speaker 2>they get the moment, they create a moment, that's correct, <v Speaker 2>That's that's what's kind of That's another thing that's lost <v Speaker 2>is that you don't need. <v Speaker 1>Let the moment grow organically out of trying to write. <v Speaker 2>You don't create the moment. You let the fans make <v Speaker 2>the moment. That's when it's special. <v Speaker 1>Thank you. <v Speaker 2>And it still is that way. <v Speaker 1>They just don't, you know, they just think they're smart <v Speaker 1>enough to manipulate it. But still a lot of the <v Speaker 1>moments that that that are created in wrestling today have <v Speaker 1>an element of the crowd reacting perhaps in a way <v Speaker 1>you didn't expect, or the wrestler is doing something stumbling <v Speaker 1>into something like it's a massive reaction. And you know, <v Speaker 1>part of the reason it's it's a moment is because <v Speaker 1>there's some element of spontaneity to what happened. You know, <v Speaker 1>the moments on the micro are never scripted lines now, <v Speaker 1>they're always you know, come off the top of your <v Speaker 1>head retorts. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, I mean that that's all the stuff that that <v Speaker 2>makes that makes those moments is when it is when <v Speaker 2>something happens that's not in the script or that's not <v Speaker 2>I mean, all of it, all of it is. <v Speaker 1>I mean, yeah, you can trust what you're seeing is <v Speaker 1>a wrestler reacting organically to what's happened. <v Speaker 4>Yep. <v Speaker 1>So it's Ernie lad versus under the Giant. Next is <v Speaker 1>we get some more seventies heel tactics from the Garden <v Speaker 1>on display, this time from the Big Cat and Jimmy Oakland. <v Speaker 2>This this is from April twenty sixth, nineteen seventy six. <v Speaker 1>Oh god, in seventy six, Gene walks us in Hey <v Speaker 1>Carter Administration days, rest in peace. Yeah right, and this <v Speaker 1>is what shit, that's why going on in the wrestling rings. <v Speaker 1>And Jimmy Carter a huge wrestling fan really, oh yeah, <v Speaker 1>particularly his his mother Roselynd I think or was that <v Speaker 1>his Roselyn his wife or his mother. <v Speaker 2>I don't know. I don't know much about that Carter. <v Speaker 1>We talked about her during Black Saturday when we were <v Speaker 1>laying the groundwork of what Georgia Championship meant to wrestling <v Speaker 1>fans from Georgia in the heyday of that territory. And yeah, <v Speaker 1>she would, I'm a huge fan of mister wrestling. To <v Speaker 1>Johnny Walker, she was pictured with him. Jimmy Carter when <v Speaker 1>he was Governor of Georgia before becoming the president was <v Speaker 1>pictured with mister wrestling. And of course Jimmy Carter appointed <v Speaker 1>Jim Barnett to the Arts Commission, the Arts Council. Wow, <v Speaker 1>Jim Barnett was like third row at Jimmy Carter's inauguration <v Speaker 1>on the National Mall. And Jimmy Carter invited mister wrestling <v Speaker 1>to or no, he invited the Destroyer Dick Byer I <v Speaker 1>think it was to his inauguration and Dick Byer decided <v Speaker 1>not to go because he wouldn't be able to wear <v Speaker 1>his mask. Just yeah, Jimmy. <v Speaker 2>Fucking oh yeah, I do remember that. I remember that. Yep, yep, yep, yep, yep. <v Speaker 1>Jimmy Carter and wrestling. <v Speaker 2>That's insane. <v Speaker 1>So Jeane with a quick voiceover for Andre versus Ladd, <v Speaker 1>he says, another lesson in foreign objects is big Ernie <v Speaker 1>Ladd and his suspiciously taped thumb. Gentlemen will see this <v Speaker 1>case of a man getting a taste of his own <v Speaker 1>bad medicine, and he then says, that's sour grapes. Everyone <v Speaker 1>knows Ernie Ladd was up, you know, during his time <v Speaker 1>in the NFL, heard his thumb and he just tapes <v Speaker 1>it to protect himself. You won't even give him a <v Speaker 1>fair shake because of that. So amateurish yet delightful. The <v Speaker 1>way they deliver this voice over stuff on. <v Speaker 2>These tapes, Man, it's great. <v Speaker 1>It's just like elementary school level bickering, you know. <v Speaker 2>Yep, Andre, that's all you need. <v Speaker 1>It's all you need, especially when you got guys is <v Speaker 1>good at interplay as Gene Okerland and Bobby Heenon or <v Speaker 1>grillham Onsoon and Bobby Heenan. Yeah Heenan is, by the way, <v Speaker 1>the common denominator here if you haven't noticed, Yeah. <v Speaker 2>Listen, yeah heen is the guy. Heenan is. Keenan is <v Speaker 2>the Rick Flair of the situation, right, he can make <v Speaker 2>everybody look good. <v Speaker 1>So they go to the match. Andre's kicking Laud on <v Speaker 1>the mat and stomping his hand. Andre warms up his <v Speaker 1>own hand and lands a big right. Vince McMahon is <v Speaker 1>on the call, and the ref is dressed like the <v Speaker 1>ups guy. I don't know. <v Speaker 2>Why, I know he really is. I don't know what <v Speaker 2>the fuck was that about the It's funny watching, you know, <v Speaker 2>the Vince says that claims in the clip that he's <v Speaker 2>not a clip, but in the match that hem that <v Speaker 2>that they're that they're. The crowd wants to Andre to <v Speaker 2>like send Ernie Ladd back to the dressing room, which <v Speaker 2>I don't think is really what it would be. I'm <v Speaker 2>sure there was much more rather than that, but I <v Speaker 2>think it's funny to see Andre. They're saying something and <v Speaker 2>Andre's like got his hands out there, like, you know, <v Speaker 2>saying hey, yeah. <v Speaker 1>It's like when he's you know, when Jake would take <v Speaker 1>the snake out, you know, yeah, right, that's that's a <v Speaker 1>great Andre face. Andre has the neck of Ernie lad <v Speaker 1>in the corner in a big, huge, head butt lands <v Speaker 1>rattling that old MSG ring that man the seventies. That <v Speaker 1>ring used to make a hell of a klang, didn't it. <v Speaker 2>Oh yeah, definitely a hell of a kwang. <v Speaker 1>Lad almost lifeless on the canvas this, Vince says, Uh, <v Speaker 1>Andre's warming up and delays and delivers another big head <v Speaker 1>butt to the big Cat. Ernie is fishing in his <v Speaker 1>trunks now as the refereeze and Monstery roller monitoring under <v Speaker 1>the giant. What's he gott? What do you got there, <v Speaker 1>big cat? <v Speaker 9>Oh? <v Speaker 2>Dude, whoa it is? <v Speaker 1>I know you're packing, brother, but that's not that that <v Speaker 1>that bulge is not that bulge? Is that the waistline? <v Speaker 2>Dude, I'm not taking creative right now. Dude? <v Speaker 1>Is that thumb brother? Brother been a injured a long time. <v Speaker 1>You're carrying a blade in their. <v Speaker 2>Brother, We have a sword in there. <v Speaker 1>Dudek Alt carries his blades to the ring and he <v Speaker 1>gets double crossed. Ernie Lad brings a fucking sword. So <v Speaker 1>the refereence is monitoring Andre Cud in the distraction. As <v Speaker 1>we see Ernie Lad going in the tights, Vince says, <v Speaker 1>perhaps he's just adjusting his tights, but he comes up <v Speaker 1>with an uppercut that clearly leaves Andre stunned and sends <v Speaker 1>the message that Ernie Ladd is working with something loaded. <v Speaker 1>At this particular juncture, Vince calls out the very controversial <v Speaker 1>right thumb of Ernie Lad and they say, not only <v Speaker 1>is it taped, the thought is many say, Vince says, <v Speaker 1>many think that Ernie lad is concealing something in the thumb. <v Speaker 1>So apparently Ladd loaded the thumb. Now the question what <v Speaker 1>do you load the thumb with exactly? <v Speaker 2>Exactly? I mean, right outside of having like a I mean, <v Speaker 2>I guess you could put like a nail in there <v Speaker 2>or something. <v Speaker 1>Now, but Andre reacts like it's a blunt force object, <v Speaker 1>like somehow you give a nail. <v Speaker 2>If you got a nail and it kind of sticks <v Speaker 2>out from the tape of the nail, you could like <v Speaker 2>just fucking stab him. <v Speaker 1>That would stab. But but Andre reacts like he's hitting <v Speaker 1>the head with a boulder, like he's can cussed not <v Speaker 1>cut you know. Yeah, And I don't know how much <v Speaker 1>weight you can fit into thumb tape. I don't think <v Speaker 1>you can't exactly put a fucking twenty pound dumb bell <v Speaker 1>in there. But anyway, have you ever tried well there's <v Speaker 1>a four hundred pound dumbell in there by the name <v Speaker 1>Andre the giant Roller. Huh, that's right. As he falls <v Speaker 1>out of the corner, it's like the whole It's like <v Speaker 1>the whole fucking ring collapses when Andre falls into the corner. <v Speaker 2>Oh yeah. <v Speaker 1>And then Andre gets his arm tied in the ropes <v Speaker 1>because that's a big thing he used to do, of course, <v Speaker 1>to to set up the heat, allowing her Lad to <v Speaker 1>stomp away on him. Finally, Andre's arm bounces free from <v Speaker 1>being entangled in ropes, and Erni Lad is hammering down <v Speaker 1>on Andre. Andre, staggering around the ring, starts blocking and <v Speaker 1>grabs the wrist and basically hits Lad in the head <v Speaker 1>with Lad's own thumb. It was really kind of goofy, <v Speaker 1>and Lad sells that like crazy, looking like nothing, less <v Speaker 1>like big cat Ernie Ladd and more like big fat Ernie. <v Speaker 2>Ladd or the big shaft Ernie Ladd. <v Speaker 1>The big shaft Ernie Lad. From what I heard, Hogan <v Speaker 1>used to leave black exploitation films concerned. Let's just put <v Speaker 1>it that way. <v Speaker 2>Oh my got it in many many ways. <v Speaker 1>So uh, Andre does it again. He makes Lad assault <v Speaker 1>himself with his own for an object, and I can <v Speaker 1>just imagine, uh, like you know Regis Philbin or somebody <v Speaker 1>you know, in the dark of the garden loving this, <v Speaker 1>you know, like it's. <v Speaker 2>Oh yeah, guilty pleasure for sure. He's like, yeah, he's <v Speaker 2>like in the back and like just laughing it up, <v Speaker 2>you know, thinking he's actually friends with people. Oh my god, <v Speaker 2>I used to call that, you know. <v Speaker 1>It's like come ninety one under eighty nine on Regis <v Speaker 1>and Kathy Lee. And he's like, I used to go <v Speaker 1>all the time to the matches. Yeah, I remember under <v Speaker 1>the Giant and Big Cat Ernie Ladd and Baron mckelly Giant. Yeah, yeah, exactly, <v Speaker 1>so good Irish whipping a high backdrop. His lad leaves <v Speaker 1>his feet here to get the crowd up. Andre goes <v Speaker 1>for a splash and land's knee first on the canvas. <v Speaker 1>As Heerny Lad gets out of the way, flashbulbs like crazy. <v Speaker 1>As Andre goes for the splash that somebody's got to <v Speaker 1>keep her there. With Andrea's wings fully extended, you can <v Speaker 1>see Bill Apterra for photographing at ringside, which tells you <v Speaker 1>Vince Junior has yet to consolidate power. <v Speaker 2>Yep, Yeah, he's okay with that for a little while. Yeah, <v Speaker 2>I can't all right, all right, all right, I get it. <v Speaker 1>The Lad's on the floor and on the move as <v Speaker 1>the referee administers the count out. So while Ernie Lad <v Speaker 1>is able to avoid the big splash, he doesn't want <v Speaker 1>anything else to do with the giant. He goes up <v Speaker 1>the aisle threatening fans. A huge course of booing breaks <v Speaker 1>out as they realize Ernie Lads on their creaked. A <v Speaker 1>couple of things even get thrown at the big cat. <v Speaker 1>Referee reaches the kind of ten and ways off the <v Speaker 1>contest andrew the giant. He gets his hand raised, the <v Speaker 1>account out victory. Now we go to June seventy three, <v Speaker 1>Is that right. <v Speaker 2>Lou versus? <v Speaker 8>Uh? <v Speaker 2>Yes, this is June thirtieth, nineteen seventy three at the <v Speaker 2>gad and I got I got the I got the <v Speaker 2>uh excellent, I got the gene one for this one. <v Speaker 6>June nineteen seventy three a period of the long and <v Speaker 6>checkered career of Captain Lewell Battle when he was both <v Speaker 6>manny ging and wrestling at the same time. And let <v Speaker 6>me tell you, back then, gentlemen, he was nobody's sweetheart. <v Speaker 2>He's nobody's sweetheart. <v Speaker 10>Now you talk about a checkered career again with the <v Speaker 10>driller used to drive a cab or something. <v Speaker 2>We could carry it about Captain lou ol Banner. <v Speaker 11>All right, Johns, the matchup between two big giant jelly rolls. <v Speaker 6>Can't calling Bundy speaking of Jellyso sorry you ever make a. <v Speaker 2>Remark that to me again? You know who? Oh win <v Speaker 2>bags like you? Who cares? Let's go to the action. <v Speaker 1>Oh the jelly roll line too much? <v Speaker 2>That was good. That was a good one, really good. <v Speaker 2>I don't know if you thought that up on the <v Speaker 2>spot or if it was a planned one, but it <v Speaker 2>was a good. <v Speaker 1>Really good And now jelly roll wants to be in <v Speaker 1>w WE that funny. <v Speaker 2>Roll Jelly roll up? Dude, what are you talking about? <v Speaker 1>What's a big what's the big idea? <v Speaker 2>Guys? <v Speaker 1>I see it doesen' here brother, and they're all jelly rolls. <v Speaker 2>What I'm just wondering, why getting it gutted to roll <v Speaker 2>me up with in jelly do? What's the what's the <v Speaker 2>diz brother trick or treat? <v Speaker 6>Oh? <v Speaker 1>Look at your kids, you're dressed up awesome, mister, mister <v Speaker 1>mister hulk, do you have any fruit roll ups? <v Speaker 2>What did you say, why did you say that? What <v Speaker 2>you say? <v Speaker 1>Happy Halloween, mister b He walks away, Yeah, he walks away. <v Speaker 1>The kid does. He's like, what's that? <v Speaker 2>Yo? Nick? <v Speaker 1>You want to follow this kid? <v Speaker 3>Brother? <v Speaker 2>But did you get your card? You get on the <v Speaker 2>phone Like. <v Speaker 1>The Thunderbird, I was going two miles an hour following <v Speaker 1>the kid on the. <v Speaker 2>Street, like fucking uh. It's like in Halloween and Michael <v Speaker 2>Myers just fucking driving the car with that fucking kid <v Speaker 2>from the school. It's just like the slowest ever, the <v Speaker 2>creepiest driving ever. It's very clearly Hulkogan. <v Speaker 1>Oh, this is clearly a Louel Banno at the height <v Speaker 1>of his garden powers. I'll say, still kind of young <v Speaker 1>and spry, still willing to take a bump, which is <v Speaker 1>not something we've been able to say for the Loelbano <v Speaker 1>we've seen in prior Coliseum home video releases. <v Speaker 2>He's still kind of rest he takes a bump of <v Speaker 2>a different kind. <v Speaker 1>Actually, he's got his jacket on out of the apron <v Speaker 1>to heckle the crowd, red stripe on the black pants, <v Speaker 1>and gorilla comes up and a singlette steps in and <v Speaker 1>pursues lou into the corner. So Gorilla is a guy. Man, <v Speaker 1>you you brought him in to whip the shit out <v Speaker 1>of the. <v Speaker 2>Hated Yes you did. And and by the who's this <v Speaker 2>fucking ring announcer? I don't know. I don't know his name. <v Speaker 2>I mean special out of connection. Yeah here, this guy <v Speaker 2>is fucking spectacular. Ope, not that one. That's the thing <v Speaker 2>with Pedro show. <v Speaker 12>One to a Finish, one Finish and. <v Speaker 11>The Principals King Sunday five, mom Burnham, New. <v Speaker 6>York Rough Front top lo Ano. <v Speaker 9>Man Chiller, one Chiller, Manchuria, Manchurier. <v Speaker 2>Like like, the guy sounds like he's making announcements at <v Speaker 2>a mall, like that there's a sale at Sears, right. <v Speaker 1>He doesn't even say hailing from Manchuria. <v Speaker 2>No, he just says Manchuria. Like we're supposed to know <v Speaker 2>what that means. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, if anyone knows who that was, I didn't try <v Speaker 1>to look it up. But whoever whoever preceded Vince, well, no, <v Speaker 1>whoever came right after Vince on re announcing in the Garden. <v Speaker 1>He Vince only did re announcing I think for one <v Speaker 1>or two Garden shows like seventy one, and then got <v Speaker 1>the t the the commentator job. But This is the <v Speaker 1>era where you know, the commission assigned the announcer, so <v Speaker 1>it's not like it's some work for WW. It's kind <v Speaker 1>of like, you know, the Joel mque and Philly and <v Speaker 1>all that. So why Gary Michael Capetta used to always <v Speaker 1>get booked with them, and then when Vince can sign <v Speaker 1>See so Gorilla comes up in the same wild Yeah, <v Speaker 1>it's just one. There's some real characters, man, guys who <v Speaker 1>they do boxing too. Didn't matter. I've been kind of <v Speaker 1>kind of you know, backs off a little bit. And <v Speaker 1>the announcer that you said there administers the the introductions <v Speaker 1>for both guys. <v Speaker 2>It's like it's too like, I mean, what I think <v Speaker 2>is is what what hit me the most about that <v Speaker 2>is that the guy clearly didn't do his homework. <v Speaker 1>Oh yeah, it's no clueless. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, the popular popular glamnson. <v Speaker 1>It's kind of like how Michael Buffer and w CW <v Speaker 1>would add all this, like all this sizzle to his announcing, <v Speaker 1>but it was like he'd say things like just didn't <v Speaker 1>apply to the wrestler at all. Yeah, maybe it's uh no, <v Speaker 1>I was just looking quickly to see if anyone came <v Speaker 1>up as seventy three. Uh I think Jack Lee might <v Speaker 1>be the guy man. Okay, take a look, Jack Lee MSG. <v Speaker 1>I don't know anyway. Back to the action here. So <v Speaker 1>the referee gets in between the two as gorillas in <v Speaker 1>pursuit before the bell even rings, and Vin says, Gorilla <v Speaker 1>Monsoon is a big one and Ali Bano could very <v Speaker 1>well be taught a lesson here, which is a very <v Speaker 1>Vince McMahon way to phrase it. <v Speaker 2>Very well. <v Speaker 1>Vin says, you better check up on Albano. Well, you <v Speaker 1>better check Albano over very well for foreign objects. Lou <v Speaker 1>with one leg over the rope seeking refuge from the <v Speaker 1>charging Monsoon lock up and gorilla hauls off on the <v Speaker 1>chest of Albano when they go nuts right away. Oh yeah, <v Speaker 1>but Lou is able to break the eyes and get <v Speaker 1>out of dodge jabs with the crook of the hand <v Speaker 1>from the headlock, and a Bano takes over rakes the <v Speaker 1>eyes a bit. Vince guests Monsoon is getting his dander <v Speaker 1>up or he's gonna get blinded if he allows a <v Speaker 1>Albaner to keep attacking him like this. Gorilla Monsoon throws <v Speaker 1>the reft to the side and they explode when he <v Speaker 1>does that. But Louil Banno was able to go to <v Speaker 1>the eyes again, jamming whatever it is he's got, or <v Speaker 1>the thumb or whatever it is, into Grilla Monsoon's eye, <v Speaker 1>and then we have a Grila Monsoon or the right <v Speaker 1>that tags Albano and he does the Albano does the <v Speaker 1>cell where he like marches like a toy soldier after <v Speaker 1>he gets hit, you know what I mean, such such <v Speaker 1>a fucking idiot. It's hit, and he walks around the <v Speaker 1>ring in pain. Uh, and then another one. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, yeah, but like watching only our goofball, right, like <v Speaker 2>as if that's what happens. Absolutely, you get hit with something, <v Speaker 2>get hit with a fucking fist in the head, and <v Speaker 2>you gotta get hit so hard apparently, then you walk <v Speaker 2>around like a like a like a fucking idiot, and. <v Speaker 1>He pulls the same thing that uh, George Steel pulled <v Speaker 1>and the match we just watched suddenly Louill Bano, instead <v Speaker 1>of selling the punch to his head, is feverishly undoing <v Speaker 1>the tape on his finger so he can get his <v Speaker 1>hands on his blade. <v Speaker 2>And he's doing it like Jesus latently. <v Speaker 1>As you possibly can run the razer, slice forehead skin <v Speaker 1>in the garden, go through that dermis let's get it, <v Speaker 1>whipping a back elbow and Lou falls back like he <v Speaker 1>got hit by a fucking car. Monsoon is hauling off <v Speaker 1>and louis a bumping son of a bitch. At this point, <v Speaker 1>he's hitting, he's he's taken flatbacks, and a big right <v Speaker 1>sends Lou into and over the top rope to the floor. <v Speaker 1>We don't really get a good shot of his blood, <v Speaker 1>but he's bleeding. He takes off and the crowd rejoices <v Speaker 1>like you wouldn't believe how they rejoice at being deprived <v Speaker 1>of a finish, you know what I mean. Now it's <v Speaker 1>like a fucking belly ache thing. I only got two <v Speaker 1>clean finishes on the show, or the bookers are being lazy. <v Speaker 1>Back then, I ran away. It was perfect, Yeah, like <v Speaker 1>you were, you were. <v Speaker 2>It was as satisfying as a victory because you know, <v Speaker 2>you look at it and the he was a count <v Speaker 2>out wa right, but but the heel, but the heel <v Speaker 2>a coward, And it's like that to you is a <v Speaker 2>victory proven if the heel is a coward, is as <v Speaker 2>much of a victory as getting a pinfall. <v Speaker 1>And in their mind too, and I'm sure Albano's mind <v Speaker 1>this is the game he played for years. That's the <v Speaker 1>reason to come back is to see the night he <v Speaker 1>actually gets pinned. You know, he got away again without <v Speaker 1>taking the ultimate form of defeat. Yet yeah, you get <v Speaker 1>to go home happy as if he was defeated. And <v Speaker 1>I'm not suggesting that over time that doesn't get old. <v Speaker 1>But man, the more controlled diet used to have of wrestling, <v Speaker 1>where you didn't see every single show, this was like <v Speaker 1>more than your money's worth when you finally got the <v Speaker 1>chance to go and there it is. Girl's hands get raised, <v Speaker 1>and that's amazing money right there. I mean, think of <v Speaker 1>what they actually did to get that kind of reaction. <v Speaker 1>I mean, this thing is like three minutes long. They <v Speaker 1>throw probably six punches total. Albano's barely slices his forehead open, <v Speaker 1>and it's like fucking everyone's happy. Whole msg is is thrilled. <v Speaker 1>They replay the chop that sent al Bano flying in <v Speaker 1>Vince's laugh thing at the visual of a little Bano <v Speaker 1>having to force the bump up and over the ropes <v Speaker 1>to the floor. He kept right on running, Vince says, <v Speaker 1>and he's headed back home. I might even suggest if <v Speaker 1>you go back and listen closely. You still catch a <v Speaker 1>little that North Carolina twang at certain moments from Vince. <v Speaker 1>There's certain words he hasn't programmed himself to say, like <v Speaker 1>with the mid Atlantic accent yet or whatever it is <v Speaker 1>he's going. <v Speaker 2>I don't know what it is. You're referring to. <v Speaker 1>Bob coddle, what coddle as the mid Atlantic accent. <v Speaker 2>I shall do not coddle anybody for any reason whatsoever. <v Speaker 2>I am not a coddler. I'm not cuddling. <v Speaker 1>Coddleoo, you didn't coddle, mel Phillips, what No, I have <v Speaker 1>never coddled, got it? I won't coddle. And this is <v Speaker 1>the most random fucking thing on the tape. All of <v Speaker 1>a sudden, Jean says, stand the man stays, he act <v Speaker 1>two hundred eighty pounds all around, mean person. <v Speaker 2>It is, it's so fucking random, so random, so fucking random. <v Speaker 1>Like we have to go back to the Heels, the <v Speaker 1>top heels and MSG in the seventies and find a <v Speaker 1>clip of them. And this is the Stantaysiac one they <v Speaker 1>could find. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, I don't understand it at all. <v Speaker 1>Talk about how he's known primarily for the heart punch, <v Speaker 1>which they don't show, but he could be counted on, <v Speaker 1>Jean says for other moves like gouging and scratching. And <v Speaker 1>we're going to show a little to that. Right here, <v Speaker 1>stan Stasiac and Blackjack, Lanza Face Andre and Chief j Strongbow. <v Speaker 1>This must have been early seventies too. <v Speaker 2>Hold on this one. This is November twelfth, nineteen seventy <v Speaker 2>three at the gad and we could. <v Speaker 1>So Stantaysiac is retreating from Jay Strongbow to start to <v Speaker 1>the apron. He comes back in and slaps the shoulder <v Speaker 1>and then bails again, and this time Jay. <v Speaker 2>What I love sorry interupt, but what I love about <v Speaker 2>these about these old MSG shows from the seventies is <v Speaker 2>watching these grown men play fight. Yeah, because these guys <v Speaker 2>don't look like play fighters. Like they look like they <v Speaker 2>look like your older family members right walking on the car, right, <v Speaker 2>you know they're not, But here they are, you know, <v Speaker 2>like they're literally going out there and basically having a <v Speaker 2>fight like they would if they were five years old <v Speaker 2>in their front yard with their friends and the neighbors, <v Speaker 2>you know, and getting paid for it though this time. <v Speaker 2>And there's something about it that just I because these <v Speaker 2>guys didn't think they were consider themselves performers No, they <v Speaker 2>didn't go out there, you know, they didn't they went <v Speaker 2>out there. And I mean, yeah that they're obviously trying <v Speaker 2>to make it seem more realistic and playing at cafe, <v Speaker 2>but there's there's just something about this that just it <v Speaker 2>It makes me feel so kind of sad in a <v Speaker 2>way that you know, essentially they can go home and say, <v Speaker 2>you know, someone told me to win tonight. <v Speaker 1>Exactly, you know, And that's that's what I love the most. <v Speaker 1>It's like it was such a secret of business that <v Speaker 1>you didn't even talk to your family about it. You know, <v Speaker 1>you just came home and everyone, no, dad's a wrestler, <v Speaker 1>and you kind of have to tell the kids it's <v Speaker 1>not real if they get two worked up. But even <v Speaker 1>you know, we know a lot of those old pros <v Speaker 1>wouldn't even tell kid. It wouldn't even smart enough the kids. Yeah, <v Speaker 1>and used didn't ask about it, you know. So yeah. <v Speaker 1>On the from the apron goes stan Stasiac and Jay <v Speaker 1>Strongbow leaps into a head scissor that brings stan Staciac <v Speaker 1>over the ropes into the ring. He tries to retreat <v Speaker 1>again and Jay Strongbow Snapmare is stan Stasiac, the father <v Speaker 1>of the future Shaan Cia and it's an arm drag. <v Speaker 1>Then it comes off the ropes from the opposite end <v Speaker 1>and a baseball slide underneath the legs of Stan Stasiac <v Speaker 1>and an arm drags. This like a showcase for Jay <v Speaker 1>Strongbow's a nineteen seventies baby face offense more than it <v Speaker 1>is a villainous tactics thing. <v Speaker 2>So, yeah, exactly. This is why this is not a <v Speaker 2>good idea for a take right at all, because there's <v Speaker 2>nothing to really because because the heels always get. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, they don't try it enough, yeah. <v Speaker 2>Right, they always get fucking waffled down. <v Speaker 1>Hard to do a tape that spotlights people who lose <v Speaker 1>every match you show on the tape. Yeah, but Vince <v Speaker 1>is on the call here and Jay Strongbow with an <v Speaker 1>armbar on the mat. Of course, Sean Stasiac Stans Daisiac <v Speaker 1>has to slap the mat every two seconds because that's <v Speaker 1>what you used to do when you were trapped in <v Speaker 1>an armbar. He rakes the eyes of the re free <v Speaker 1>and the backup and he slaps him in a headlock, <v Speaker 1>and he scratches the back of Jay Strongbow. And that's <v Speaker 1>apparently the scratching that Gene Okerland was referring to that <v Speaker 1>Staysiak was known for. He then jabs him in the headlock. <v Speaker 1>That's such a heel tactic to grab a headlock and <v Speaker 1>just throw that short punch like that. Yes, you don't <v Speaker 1>see that anymore. What is that all about anyway? No, <v Speaker 1>not that developed. <v Speaker 2>I don't know, but it always seems like I got <v Speaker 2>like a like a sneaky move. <v Speaker 1>Why is it a cheap shot to grab a headlock <v Speaker 1>which is perfectly legal, and throw a punch which is <v Speaker 1>perfectly legal. <v Speaker 2>I guess right. <v Speaker 1>It used to be a way to sneak a shot <v Speaker 1>in the throat or a closed fist back when they <v Speaker 1>enforced closed fists, and that's what it was, a way <v Speaker 1>to mask that from the referee. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, you don't really know why they do that. It's <v Speaker 2>always it always has seemed like a like a dirty yeah, <v Speaker 2>a dirty fucking move to do. <v Speaker 1>Wept to the ropes and it's supposed to be a <v Speaker 1>Staysiac hard punch, but he did something and Jay Strongbow <v Speaker 1>stopped and what the fuck? Lanza comes in and as <v Speaker 1>soon as he gets in the ring, they fucking leave <v Speaker 1>the match. Just that's all they have. They can't show <v Speaker 1>us the finish they just have, you know, fifteen seconds <v Speaker 1>of stan Stasiac scratching Jay Strongbow's back and. <v Speaker 2>Some boxes checked. Sounds fine, back to gene normal normal <v Speaker 2>stuff there. <v Speaker 1>And this is where the tape really just like loses <v Speaker 1>its way, where it becomes like, okay, we're just importing <v Speaker 1>other tapes. <v Speaker 2>Now right, it is a this is yeah, I don't yeah, <v Speaker 2>you're exactly right. They it seemed like they were looking <v Speaker 2>for stuff, and then they actually took some time, and <v Speaker 2>then they're like, wait a minute, you know, we get <v Speaker 2>we got to actually have this fucking tape wrapped up <v Speaker 2>in about twenty minutes. <v Speaker 1>Taken too long here to find you know, real good <v Speaker 1>moments that spot light Villain and re so let's just <v Speaker 1>fuck it, you know. <v Speaker 2>And I don't even And here's the thing, Like the <v Speaker 2>next couple of clips, I don't even know where they're from. <v Speaker 2>Like it was hard to figure out where they were from. <v Speaker 2>They weren't they weren't really listed on the Like the <v Speaker 2>Colsseum video. There's a Colossum video listing website. They list <v Speaker 2>all the uh, the the videos and like what yeah, <v Speaker 2>matches are on them, and they often give dates. Most <v Speaker 2>of the time they give dates, but then a lot <v Speaker 2>of times they don't really know where it's from, and <v Speaker 2>therefore I can't verify on on history of the history <v Speaker 2>of we website, right because like, yeah, these these Morocco clips, <v Speaker 2>I do really don't know where the fuck they're from. <v Speaker 1>We can try to get a rough idea. Jean says <v Speaker 1>that next we put together a little retrospective on the <v Speaker 1>Magnificent Morocco, who, of course was a top heel at <v Speaker 1>the time. We heard that article from the magazine where <v Speaker 1>Patro Morales is talking about returning to target Morocco. For instance, <v Speaker 1>he was in the Intracontinental title mix at the time, <v Speaker 1>just coming off a feud with snook A that predated <v Speaker 1>a huax arrival. Jean says, I got to tell you, <v Speaker 1>this guy gives me the creeps. The way he and <v Speaker 1>mister Fuji carry on about the dark side and the <v Speaker 1>forces of darkness. <v Speaker 2>It's weird. Jaye. <v Speaker 1>Okerland says, absolutely weird. And if you ever want to <v Speaker 1>hear someone say the word weird like a Minnesotan, uh, <v Speaker 1>find this bottle on the tape, this clip. <v Speaker 7>It's a laps Fall wrestling podcast, the wrestling podcast that <v Speaker 7>knows the Boys need their candy. It's the Lapsed Fan. <v Speaker 7>He's a lapsed fan wrestling podcast with Jack and Carnassio <v Speaker 7>and JP Sorrow. <v Speaker 1>He says, the man is spiritual. Don roc was spiritual. <v Speaker 1>He's a deep thinker. And he says he's just like <v Speaker 1>a narrow minded little creatan like you. Because you don't <v Speaker 1>understand something, you call it weird and strange. He says, <v Speaker 1>Morocco is a great athlete and a winter and good <v Speaker 1>looking guy and everything you're not, Jeane. And then Big <v Speaker 1>John stud says, when Don Morocco gets his hands on you, <v Speaker 1>you're in the dark. He'll knock you right out. And <v Speaker 1>this whole time we're showing Don Morocco throw Pedro Morales <v Speaker 1>over the ropes in Madison Square Garden and pummel him <v Speaker 1>outside the ring. <v Speaker 2>It's funny seeing him. It's funny seeing seeing Pedro be <v Speaker 2>such a badass and then be a bit you know, yeah. <v Speaker 1>I know, he's like he's built to dominate people, but <v Speaker 1>he's still running with his tail between his legs by <v Speaker 1>the end of the match. So he's shoving and slamming <v Speaker 1>Morales into the end of the rails, kind of like <v Speaker 1>an Oklahoma stampede like don yeh, cieve Williams to you, <v Speaker 1>it's stopping away on him. Then we flash forward to him. <v Speaker 1>That's all we get. We just get like him attacking page. <v Speaker 2>Is this one little is this one small little clip <v Speaker 2>and then you move on to the next thing, which <v Speaker 2>is him in St. Jones versus St. Jones Yep, Pat. <v Speaker 1>Patterson and Vincent the call clearly for I'm a taping <v Speaker 1>in Allentown or Hamburg Steve versus Morocco head sissor by <v Speaker 1>Don Morocco. But right back into an arm drag and <v Speaker 1>they do it again a couple of times, exchanging headlock <v Speaker 1>takeovers and arm drags h and. <v Speaker 2>Get a great, great, fucking, great fucking little moment from <v Speaker 2>like just what you you know, typical Pat Patterson on <v Speaker 2>the call here looks to me like S. D. Johan <v Speaker 2>really prepared himself for this. Matthew looks good. Vince very <v Speaker 2>important maths for s D. S D Joan, You heard it, <v Speaker 2>s D. Jones. <v Speaker 1>That's the thing. Patterson would make singular plural words and <v Speaker 1>make plurals singular word. I had an S on it <v Speaker 1>even if it was a name and not a plural. <v Speaker 2>Now, yeah, the S d joan. <v Speaker 1>Ah motherfucker Rocco bails and frustration with Captain low in <v Speaker 1>his corner at the time. By the way, so now <v Speaker 1>we're back to heal. Captain lou Vince says that Sid <v Speaker 1>this is special delivery. SD will be top ten if <v Speaker 1>he wins this match in terms of qualifying for the <v Speaker 1>WWF Championship. So I don't remember a time when they <v Speaker 1>were talking on WAF television like st Jones was stiffing <v Speaker 1>a title shot, but there. <v Speaker 2>Is Yeah, I don't feel that one at all. <v Speaker 1>That would be a very unspecial delivery. Back in SDU <v Speaker 1>with the side headlock push off, tackle down, goes Don <v Speaker 1>Morocco over the top drop down, and this is it. <v Speaker 1>This is SD Jones's sunset flip from the Colisseum video <v Speaker 1>opening package. Right here he jumps over Morocco and then <v Speaker 1>it gets one two back up on a headlock by <v Speaker 1>SD Jones. He's cranking on it and Don Morocco lifts <v Speaker 1>him and does the side backbreaker across the knee to <v Speaker 1>get free from the headlock, and then he does a <v Speaker 1>fucking Vader bomb attempt. Don Morocco climbs to the middle <v Speaker 1>rope and takes off. <v Speaker 2>With the splash. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, but he misses and lands on his knees. SD <v Speaker 1>comes with the left and cranks the headlock again. Don <v Speaker 1>Morocco counters to the top wristlock, trying to power out <v Speaker 1>of the position. Vince McMahon says he should be it <v Speaker 1>should be interesting to see if in fact Morocco can <v Speaker 1>escape in this manner. <v Speaker 2>Yes, indeed, I guess it's interesting. <v Speaker 1>So st headbutts the back of Don Morocco a couple <v Speaker 1>of times and throws a couple of sledges back to thedlock. <v Speaker 1>Takeover gets two, and Pat pattern says, when you really <v Speaker 1>want to wear somebody down, you got to stick with <v Speaker 1>one thing. The headlock is an example. So he's saying, <v Speaker 1>you can't port the arm and then halfway through the <v Speaker 1>match decide to target the leg. You must work a headlock, <v Speaker 1>and then decide to switch to the arm. I guess <v Speaker 1>this is these are rules of wrestling that I never realized, <v Speaker 1>but we're made abundantly clear back in the day. <v Speaker 2>On Pat Patterson crearently lives by and right will tell <v Speaker 2>you otherwise. <v Speaker 1>Then Vince fires back and he says, you know what, actually, Pat, <v Speaker 1>the headlock is more of a defensive type of move <v Speaker 1>than an offensive maneuver, And I'm like, what are you <v Speaker 1>talking about? <v Speaker 2>Yeah, don't don't, don't try It. <v Speaker 1>Makes the headlock an defensive maneuver. <v Speaker 2>I mean, I guess in a way that you can <v Speaker 2>kind of go for it to kind of you're like, <v Speaker 2>can shut someone down with it, desperate, you can shut <v Speaker 2>somebody down with it, But I mean not really. <v Speaker 1>In this position, Sid is clearly initiating it not to <v Speaker 1>stop Morocco, but to hurt him, which is offensive by design. <v Speaker 2>Would I wouldn't say that it can be both defensive <v Speaker 2>and of fensive maneuver. But I don't know. I don't <v Speaker 2>know if it's worth I don't know if a headlock <v Speaker 2>is worth that much time. And I just spent talking <v Speaker 2>about it. <v Speaker 1>Patterson doesn't offer the best rebuttal in the world. He <v Speaker 1>just says, once he has Don Morocco wore out, then <v Speaker 1>he can make his move. Wore out and uh, Don <v Speaker 1>Rocco wore out, elbows out of the position, no problem, <v Speaker 1>throws the right hand special delivery. Jones blocks and starts <v Speaker 1>throwing his own rights and left and then a head butt. <v Speaker 1>Since Don Morocco out of the corner. But the Irish <v Speaker 1>whip is reversed and Special Delivery Jones leaps to the <v Speaker 1>middle rope and tries to springboard in a way cross <v Speaker 1>body block, but he gets caught in midair and power <v Speaker 1>slammed by the powerful Don Morocco out of the canvas. <v Speaker 1>And that's Carton's one, two three. Don Morocco pins SD Jones. <v Speaker 2>Here. <v Speaker 1>Is there a date on this one? Or is this <v Speaker 1>one of those that isn't time stick? <v Speaker 2>This one is not timestamps. I don't know. <v Speaker 1>That's why pretty clearly was six, but or yeah, maybe <v Speaker 1>eighty five. So Pat Patterson says, that's the kind of <v Speaker 1>maneuver that Don Morocco likes to get you in. I <v Speaker 1>bet he says a head butt that would have knocked <v Speaker 1>a bull down. And we just saw Don Morocco right <v Speaker 1>back from it. And now we go to TNT a <v Speaker 1>little preview with the form TNT Colsium video. <v Speaker 2>I know that is that one is coming up not <v Speaker 2>too far down the road. <v Speaker 1>Here Marco's on the couch with Vince and the Johnny <v Speaker 1>Carson seat. <v Speaker 2>It's a weird promo. Yeah, he talks about he says <v Speaker 2>some weird things that I don't know. I don't know <v Speaker 2>how to feel honestly like about basically saying he doesn't <v Speaker 2>have anywhere to go. You know that's like, but that <v Speaker 2>he's already reached then, having never won the dead WW championship, <v Speaker 2>He's at the at the top here and this is it. <v Speaker 12>See, there's no more titles we can take, there's no <v Speaker 12>hire that we can go. <v Speaker 2>We are you talking about, right? No more times you <v Speaker 2>can get one title and you don't have the big one. <v Speaker 12>There's no more pinnacles than we can reach. <v Speaker 2>We are on the dark side. We control the dark side. <v Speaker 12>Yes, But indeed, if you're up as higher as you <v Speaker 12>are and on top as you feel you are, there <v Speaker 12>is only one way to go, as you say, and <v Speaker 12>not one way to go is down, mister Moroccos. <v Speaker 5>Look down, Just look down and spit at everybody below us. <v Speaker 2>Because when it. <v Speaker 12>Comes to talent, when it comes to greatness, and it <v Speaker 12>comes to the one word that we know and love <v Speaker 12>so well, magnificence, I am the one that stands for <v Speaker 12>every single letter of that. <v Speaker 2>And Ricky Steamboat, as we watch. <v Speaker 5>You hang around, as we hear about how you like <v Speaker 5>beautiful blonde girls with blue eyes and very intelligent people, <v Speaker 5>I got some. <v Speaker 2>Fat broad Jesus, you like blonde women with blue eyes <v Speaker 2>and very intelligent people. <v Speaker 1>Okay, don nothing putting yourself in a category that doesn't <v Speaker 1>include intelligent people. <v Speaker 2>I do love I do love women with intelligent people. <v Speaker 1>That broad incoming. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, make your ladies look sick. And you've seen him <v Speaker 2>right here. <v Speaker 13>The magnificent one is magnificent as far as he goes. <v Speaker 13>And with mister Fuji in my corner, let evil, we <v Speaker 13>having one heck of a time. <v Speaker 1>Vince gets so pissed when he says, there's nowhere to go, <v Speaker 1>no where to go but down, mister Morocco and not <v Speaker 1>what he's down with this blue and yellow coffee mug <v Speaker 1>logo on it, and was everything brown? Then I am <v Speaker 1>whelmed with a sense of beige and brown. <v Speaker 2>Earth tones abundant. <v Speaker 1>So abundant, everything was brown. <v Speaker 2>I know there was like that. I guess weird. You <v Speaker 2>know again again it's that. It's that like, you know, <v Speaker 2>you don't think of eighty five eighty six as being that, <v Speaker 2>but it really still was, you know, the turnover, like well, <v Speaker 2>we think of the eighties is really the second half, <v Speaker 2>like all of decades. Yeah, it's always what we think <v Speaker 2>of as that decade is what the second half is fascinating. <v Speaker 2>You know, decades really start in the middle of the decade, <v Speaker 2>right in terms of fashion design, all that. <v Speaker 1>Really shedding the leftover fumes. <v Speaker 2>Of the right and because in it still has vibes <v Speaker 2>of the seventies, Like do you think of the late <v Speaker 2>seventies earth tones and the kind of those orange and <v Speaker 2>yellows and browns and stuff. <v Speaker 1>And this is very much that I just can't believe <v Speaker 1>there was a time in America where that was in vogue. Yeah, <v Speaker 1>you looked at a fucking brown and orange kitchen and thought, man, <v Speaker 1>these guys have the latest stuff. <v Speaker 2>That's right, these guys have the fucking shit. <v Speaker 1>Oh my god. Yeah, well, thank you, Vince says to him. Yeah, <v Speaker 1>so now we go to Fuji and steamboat instead of <v Speaker 1>Morocco and steamboat. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, this is this is a fucking weird one. This <v Speaker 2>is uh July fifth, eighty five at the Meadowlands. <v Speaker 1>This is Fuji putting on the trunks, well after he <v Speaker 1>had transitioned into a managing career. Boat builds up to <v Speaker 1>the chop breaks, free hits, a chopped down goes Fuji. <v Speaker 1>Rick steinmo climbs the ropes and scores with a cross <v Speaker 1>body that only gets two and that's pretty wild. Bruno <v Speaker 1>Sanmartino on the commentary surprise to see fucking mister fujiither <v Speaker 1>one to kick out of Ricky Steamboat's vaanded crossbody. <v Speaker 2>Listen, listen to him, Listen to him. He stumbles his <v Speaker 2>way through this. You look at Bruce Ammartino and you <v Speaker 2>think living legend. You know where he's not a living legend. <v Speaker 2>At the commentary table, that's the. <v Speaker 4>First time events I've seen anybody not get pent from <v Speaker 4>that flying cress from steamboat. <v Speaker 2>It's toff, Bruno, he said, no, fucking like, come on, man. <v Speaker 1>It's immediately moves to protect steamboat by saying that the <v Speaker 1>fact steamboat neglected to hook the leg appropriately, so that's <v Speaker 1>why Fuji was able to kick out, if you're wondering. <v Speaker 1>And then a steamboat tries to splash on the mat, <v Speaker 1>but Fuji gets two knees up right into the gut <v Speaker 1>of steamboat and then at backs suplex. Ricky Steamboat though <v Speaker 1>lands on his feet and rolls up mister Fuji for <v Speaker 1>the one too, which Vince calls a small package, not <v Speaker 1>a not a roll up. And that's it. We just <v Speaker 1>get just that moment. That's it. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, that's what I need. <v Speaker 1>I mean, but that didn't even show mister Fuji doing <v Speaker 1>anything wrong. It showed him valiantly kicking out of Fisher. <v Speaker 2>Again. It's become this weird profile now of Morocco, of <v Speaker 2>Morocco and uh viper right, but like, like it's not <v Speaker 2>about the heels as much as much as now these profiles, <v Speaker 2>Like you're not watching. It's really stupid individual It is stupid. <v Speaker 2>It's extremely stupid. <v Speaker 1>Yep, and we can see so actually, you know, I <v Speaker 1>should have I should have put the brakes on because <v Speaker 1>what this is the reason they show this match isn't <v Speaker 1>because the Fuji matches a big showcase. It's the angle afterwards. <v Speaker 1>So after the match, stevemach Go's ringside is hugging the kids. <v Speaker 1>He's in the aisleway and then bang, he gets hit <v Speaker 1>across the back by a chair by Don Morocco back <v Speaker 1>when they just didn't even bother to light the aisleway <v Speaker 1>in Allentown. Yeah, it's just it's black, but you can <v Speaker 1>kind of make out the toun rucles attacking him with <v Speaker 1>something and a red hoodie. And then Fuji gets into <v Speaker 1>and their GM and steamboat on the head with a <v Speaker 1>chair frame or a pitchfork. I don't know what the <v Speaker 1>hell it is. And the referees tending to steamboat, so <v Speaker 1>I'll tell you that's a crime. <v Speaker 2>Bruno says he is he is the worst commentator. Oh yeah, <v Speaker 2>he's just so bad. <v Speaker 1>He was the fucking dirt worst. <v Speaker 2>Like it's it's really, it's just amazing to me. It's <v Speaker 2>really amazing to me how a guy who, you know, <v Speaker 2>who certainly could could talk well enough on the mic <v Speaker 2>to get people to come to the fucking arenas. Yeah, <v Speaker 2>who was the champion for you know, a fucking decade <v Speaker 2>and drew so many crowds and made tons of money, <v Speaker 2>can suck that fucking hard. Well, you know, in wrestlings <v Speaker 2>a commentator, there's. <v Speaker 1>Always a difference between the guy who knows how to <v Speaker 1>get himself over and keep himself over and the guy <v Speaker 1>who knows how to get everybody else over. <v Speaker 2>And yeah, and you know what, I can't. I can't <v Speaker 2>come to terms with that discrepancy. Would that write that? Yeah, <v Speaker 2>it just does not. I can't make a click. It <v Speaker 2>does not make all to be Bruno. <v Speaker 1>He doesn't know how to find qualities other than Bruno <v Speaker 1>babyface qualities and other baby faces he doesn't know, he <v Speaker 1>can't pick up on. It's almost like it's you're you're <v Speaker 1>sort of like a curiosity thing, like do you approach <v Speaker 1>commentary with like, Wow, I'm open minded and this guy's <v Speaker 1>doing something different, and let me try to figure out <v Speaker 1>what it is he's doing that I can highlight that's different, <v Speaker 1>or do I just sit there and wait to say <v Speaker 1>things Bruno Sammartino would say the character about the match <v Speaker 1>I'm seeing and sort of you know, so when Bruno's <v Speaker 1>remarking upon things, it's still very much about Bruno. Bruno's impressed. <v Speaker 1>It's not about what the wrestler's doing. It's the Bruno's <v Speaker 1>impressed by what the wrestler's doing. Which it's not that <v Speaker 1>he did that maliciously. It's just some some like Jesse Venturi. <v Speaker 1>You never have to worry about that. Jesse like was <v Speaker 1>trying to read the mind of the heel and the <v Speaker 1>baby face, and he was trying to help you think <v Speaker 1>as the wrestlers would think in the in the fantasy <v Speaker 1>world of wrestling. Whereas you didn't get that, you just <v Speaker 1>got Bruno like moralizing you know, that's not right, that's right, <v Speaker 1>you know, and that's about Bruno's moral code. That's not <v Speaker 1>about trying to identify what it is that's making the <v Speaker 1>wrestler in the ring tick and getting that across to <v Speaker 1>the audience. I mean, they they didn't even see announcing <v Speaker 1>as a craft anyway. <v Speaker 2>Back then. <v Speaker 1>It was just like who's the biggest guy? You know, <v Speaker 1>the fans know that we can get on TV. They <v Speaker 1>did the same thing with the Antonina Roca before him <v Speaker 1>and Patterson that Patterson came and fucking speak English cleanly, <v Speaker 1>right and there he is. <v Speaker 2>Right. <v Speaker 1>So now it's on to the the point and the <v Speaker 1>tape where we just go back to the the Roddy <v Speaker 1>Piper Greatest Hits video. <v Speaker 2>Yes, I know, seriously, they literally just edited a piece <v Speaker 2>together from that. <v Speaker 1>They I feel like ipern Snooker. Gene says, this is <v Speaker 1>a repeat of a This is like a repeat of <v Speaker 1>a bad dream. Once he was the host of Piper's <v Speaker 1>Greatest Hits tape. Gene recalls they even call it out <v Speaker 1>that that's what they're doing, Gina having a PTSD from <v Speaker 1>having to host that videotape, and he says, now a <v Speaker 1>little review of wrestling's biggest big mouth spouting off, and <v Speaker 1>they show have a banana flap across the head with <v Speaker 1>the fucking the coconut. They show him on TNT going off. <v Speaker 2>It's just a fucking it's it's crazy how I don't <v Speaker 2>know this. I don't know. They kind of blow through <v Speaker 2>a lot of great stuff that they could have. I <v Speaker 2>don't know, Like I know, they did focus obviously on <v Speaker 2>it on on his on his video pretty much the <v Speaker 2>one we've watched yet. I would agree, yep, I would agree. <v Speaker 2>I think that is that is the best. <v Speaker 1>It has him actually laying down for Jimmy Snooker on <v Speaker 1>the tape. <v Speaker 2>Right, Yeah, he actually seemed at pinned like that's pretty <v Speaker 2>pretty wild. <v Speaker 1>Get a real handle on why he was an equal <v Speaker 1>force cultural lead A Hogan in eighty five. It's like, wow, yeah, <v Speaker 1>in eighty four, this guy is. This guy is every <v Speaker 1>bit as much why people watched Water settle the score <v Speaker 1>on MTV as Hogan was yep, yep. And they show <v Speaker 1>him again slapping out Albano on the TNT set with <v Speaker 1>Vince screaman what's the matter with you and. <v Speaker 2>What's the matter with your dad? <v Speaker 1>Oh my god, and going off on that bitch knees <v Speaker 1>and rights as the guy Frankie Williams on that Piper's <v Speaker 1>pit where he says, you know, he gets called the <v Speaker 1>Jabbroni by Piper, and yeah, but I'm still in there. <v Speaker 1>I'm still in there, he says. And Piper goes off <v Speaker 1>on him and beats the shit out of him, and <v Speaker 1>that's when he says, I changed the questions. They show <v Speaker 1>him on TNT later with Albano with a kilt on <v Speaker 1>and talking about how this is out and this is <v Speaker 1>Albano now talking about the same the Loper dynamic and <v Speaker 1>and all of that, and he says, buzz off, and <v Speaker 1>Piper says, you know, I'm supposed to be a gentleman, <v Speaker 1>I know, and he turns around and nails him with <v Speaker 1>the right hand. Bano spills over the couch, got out <v Speaker 1>of here, got him out of here, Vince going off. <v Speaker 2>The first fucking cloud couch he spilled over, No shit <v Speaker 2>filled over a few fucking couches, had for a few <v Speaker 2>Jamison's Oh damn straight. <v Speaker 1>Piper a real opportunist, getting in mister T's face, making <v Speaker 1>fun of his haircut, and you know, decrying that these <v Speaker 1>children are looking up to someone with that haircut. The <v Speaker 1>children of America today, Uh, remember he was he was <v Speaker 1>moralizing a bit back then, the rock and wrestling thing. <v Speaker 1>Piper was, yeah, crying, yep, the depravity of rock and <v Speaker 1>roll music on on America's youth. And this is where <v Speaker 1>he gets into the shoving match with mister T and <v Speaker 1>the director's chair gets knocked over, and all that where <v Speaker 1>Piper is allowed on a Mister T movie set with <v Speaker 1>a wired microphone, walking around the corded microphone getting Intot's face. <v Speaker 2>It's pretty funny. It is pretty fucking funny. It's like, <v Speaker 2>why is this. <v Speaker 1>Guy allowed to walk around with him every where he goes? <v Speaker 1>And they say they don't take a quick look at <v Speaker 1>the people in the ring against some opponents that are <v Speaker 1>heroes to you, King Kong Bundy, and he says, shut up. <v Speaker 1>He tells Gene Oklen Bundy, does you own me an <v Speaker 1>apology for calling me a jelly roll? And Gene says, <v Speaker 1>I didn't say that. Somebody else said it and I. <v Speaker 2>Picked up by it. He's such a fucking weasel. <v Speaker 1>He's the weasel. <v Speaker 2>He really is. I mean, yeah, to be honest, absolutely, <v Speaker 2>let's be fucking honest. He is the fucking weasel. <v Speaker 1>And he says Piper is a very good athlete. And <v Speaker 1>and you're jealous, Gene, don't you, little man, I'm not <v Speaker 1>jealous of Roddy Piper. Please, And that says our hero <v Speaker 1>is ourselves. And I'm like, what the fuck is happening? <v Speaker 1>It makes no sense? Do they wag in? <v Speaker 2>This is like? This is are they here? Why are <v Speaker 2>they here? Go to the fucking go to fucking Wendy's <v Speaker 2>and call it awn. <v Speaker 1>Hearing all this, They're showing Piper throwing right hands on <v Speaker 1>Andre the Giant and Madison Square Garden while Andre is <v Speaker 1>being held down by doctor d David Shultz and a <v Speaker 1>snooka is the tag team partner of Andre the Giant. <v Speaker 1>This is, uh the Snooker and Piper interplay that characterized <v Speaker 1>the era. Yeah, and this is where Luthez makes an <v Speaker 1>appearance a special referee somehow. All right, yeah, this is <v Speaker 1>where he is right answer the Trier question, why did <v Speaker 1>Luthez share the ring with Roddy Piper and Madison Square Garden? <v Speaker 1>The flash forward and Piper cracks him across the neck <v Speaker 1>with a chair shot. There's a hot crowd for that. <v Speaker 1>Back in snooker with a right hand a jumping head button, <v Speaker 1>he leaps and and nail Sez. By mistake is Piper <v Speaker 1>pulls Luths into the line of fire. Snooker goes up <v Speaker 1>top Piper's laying on Luths and then rakes the eyes <v Speaker 1>of Jimmy Snooker and Piper Hasz's belt. He takes he <v Speaker 1>fucking goes a leather belt right off his pants. <v Speaker 2>Is a fucking like it's he's how old was he <v Speaker 2>at this point? <v Speaker 1>He must have been seventies? <v Speaker 2>Wow, this is wild. It is wild. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, he's whipping Snooker with it. Piper is whipping Snooker <v Speaker 1>with SES's belt, and you get Gene on the match call. <v Speaker 1>This is pack when they were still trying to use <v Speaker 1>him as a play by play guy. God help us, <v Speaker 1>and God help us. Indeed, it's amazing how bad he <v Speaker 1>was at it. And then now let's see THEES comes <v Speaker 1>up and Jesus Christ, Piper wraps the fucking belt around <v Speaker 1>snook his neck. He's basically hanging him out to dry <v Speaker 1>right there, and THEEZ grabs Piper and cocks his fist <v Speaker 1>and Piper absolutely slugs Luthez. And then we jumped forward <v Speaker 1>to Bob Orton. <v Speaker 2>Of course, who was I mean in a weird way. <v Speaker 2>It's probably the best thing that they did because you know, <v Speaker 2>he actually saw the heel kind of get the the <v Speaker 2>last laugh there. <v Speaker 1>I get what they were going for by showing that, <v Speaker 1>you know, the dastardly Piper attacking the old legend. <v Speaker 2>I get that. <v Speaker 1>And now it's Bob Orton wrestling with Jimmy Snook with Piper. <v Speaker 1>Of course, Piper trying to tag in. Orton's just out <v Speaker 1>of range. Uh no, he doesn't try to tag in <v Speaker 1>until bob Orton is out of range. Yes, he doesn't <v Speaker 1>want to throw fucking brilliant. It's a great move. <v Speaker 2>It is so fucking brilliant and makes it just it's <v Speaker 2>so great to see him be such a jackass. <v Speaker 1>Such a coward. <v Speaker 2>I love it at the end of the day, a coward, <v Speaker 2>you know, like even with his own partner. <v Speaker 1>Right, it's like, you don't take it personal because Bob <v Speaker 1>Orton knows Piper's gonna leave him in the lurch, you know. <v Speaker 2>But you can't even help but fucking feel bad for Orton. Yeah, <v Speaker 2>with because he's because Piper is such a fucking monster. <v Speaker 1>Self serving, creating coward and is the word is the word? <v Speaker 1>So Snuoker gets in and grabs Piper and rowdy cretan Piper, yes, <v Speaker 1>and he creatmos Lee I poke said, Jimmy stuck in <v Speaker 1>the eye and Tonka kid is the other is the <v Speaker 1>tag partner Jimmy Stoker here. This is when was getting <v Speaker 1>the big push and uh, that's after Stucker got the <v Speaker 1>arrest and everything, and they were like, we need to <v Speaker 1>get somebody else in this Piper feud because Jimmy's got <v Speaker 1>a problem with that George Washington motor Lodge or whatever <v Speaker 1>the fucking deal is. Well, maybe that was one of <v Speaker 1>the drug arrests. I don't remember. Piper a tag rope <v Speaker 1>on the neck of Jimmy Snook and they show a <v Speaker 1>freeze frame of that to again demonstrate Piper doing villainous things. <v Speaker 1>And then here's another contemporary of your shows, carrying on <v Speaker 1>that fine tradition of concealing foreign objects. Excuse me what <v Speaker 1>carrying on that fine tradition of concealing foign objects. <v Speaker 2>He tells speak English. <v Speaker 1>He tells the Heaton family. And on this occasion it's <v Speaker 1>an intercontinent title change, as we show Savage and Tito, <v Speaker 1>and of course the rolled. <v Speaker 2>Steel object, yep, rolled steel pop. Nothing funnier than him fucking. <v Speaker 2>Then Gorilla saying, rolled a piece of rolled steel. <v Speaker 1>Oh my god. They cut to it and he says, <v Speaker 1>a piece of cold rolled steel. <v Speaker 2>It looks like yeah, and it looks like I think <v Speaker 2>I wrote this in the first time we watch. It <v Speaker 2>looks like fucking. It's black and white taped, so it <v Speaker 2>looks like beetlejuice made it. Yeah. <v Speaker 1>So Savage wins the icy title with a Gorilla and <v Speaker 1>Jess on the call there, so we get the rolled <v Speaker 1>steel and then we go to. <v Speaker 2>Let's see next is Oh, it's a it's a funker. <v Speaker 2>It's the funker at Oh, well, we know that by <v Speaker 2>the way that the Tito Savage matches from Boston Garden <v Speaker 2>February then eighty sixth and now we're at the mid <v Speaker 2>Hudson Civic Centers June seventeenth, nineteen eighty five. <v Speaker 1>And that's when they that's right, when they move tapings <v Speaker 1>out of Allentown and Hamburg, Pa to Yah to Poughkeepsie. <v Speaker 1>And here's Terry Funk, terrible Terry Funk, as a matter <v Speaker 1>of fact, attacks the job or Aldo Marino. He's about <v Speaker 1>to he's spinning tobacco everywhere. And he then says, I <v Speaker 1>bet you the last time an illiterate ring attendant is <v Speaker 1>ever going to put on Terry Funk's hat or somebody <v Speaker 1>else's hat, he says, And Bundy says, now Phillip's putting <v Speaker 1>the hat on. If Terry Funk is the most despicable <v Speaker 1>act he's ever seen in pro wrestling at the two <v Speaker 1>hundred dollars hat, he went ahead and ruined, that's right. <v Speaker 1>John Studd has no comment. He's really earning his pay <v Speaker 1>for this appearance, has no comment. He said he doesn't <v Speaker 1>care about attendants. <v Speaker 2>Well, in saying his defense, they got him while he <v Speaker 2>was sticking a needle in. <v Speaker 1>This doesn't care about ring attendants or Terry. <v Speaker 8>Uh. <v Speaker 1>I think Terry did a great job here in this <v Speaker 1>in this situation. So this is again the Mail Phillips <v Speaker 1>beat down where Funk pulls mel Phillips into the ring <v Speaker 1>for putting his cowboy hat on and beats. <v Speaker 2>The ship up. Yeah, I feel like, you know, you know, <v Speaker 2>I'm pretty sure that Funk got wind of Phillips personal <v Speaker 2>get a little bit of. <v Speaker 1>Interesting. Well it definitely he definitely looks like the hero. Now, <v Speaker 1>this does not look like a villainous assault. With all <v Speaker 1>we end up learning about male Phillips, that's for sure, who, <v Speaker 1>just to be clear, was not a WWF employee, but <v Speaker 1>in fact an occasional laborer Rita Chatterton another occasion he wasn't. <v Speaker 2>He wasn't. He wasn't an employee. <v Speaker 1>That's what Vincent was set on all he was an occasional. <v Speaker 2>He's an occasional laborer. He's a a. <v Speaker 1>As opposed to everybody else he was. <v Speaker 2>You know, he's an independent private contractor of uh. You know, well, <v Speaker 2>he's a contractor of an independent private nature, not a <v Speaker 2>you know, not a not a regular w for employee. <v Speaker 2>You know, he is a he's a you know, he's <v Speaker 2>he's someone who donated time. <v Speaker 1>Well, I'm glad you yeah, I'm glad you took the <v Speaker 1>time to quibble when I call him an employee instead <v Speaker 1>of the part about him, uh he's sexually assaulted. <v Speaker 2>My point is is that I can't be I mean, <v Speaker 2>I'd be held responsible for everybody who everybody's actions. I didn't. <v Speaker 2>He didn't. I didn't work for me. He was. He <v Speaker 2>was a volunteer based. <v Speaker 1>I didn't work for me. <v Speaker 2>You know, I mean we you know, we gave him <v Speaker 2>a stipend of sorts. Uh, for for you know, you're <v Speaker 2>his own individualistic labor. <v Speaker 1>And ask your question if you you know, if you <v Speaker 1>had a kid's birthday party and uh and then you <v Speaker 1>know you hired somebody at at will for for occasional <v Speaker 1>labor to come to your house and set up the <v Speaker 1>party and break it down. And then after the fact <v Speaker 1>you find out that one of the people that was <v Speaker 1>setting up the tables was in fact someone that had <v Speaker 1>an unsavory background. Should you be held accountable uh for <v Speaker 1>hiring that person? <v Speaker 2>I mean think about it like this. You know, if <v Speaker 2>we invite a child over to our house and there <v Speaker 2>their parent comes with them and volunteers to allow uh <v Speaker 2>himself or herself to be involved in the in the <v Speaker 2>setting up and therefore breaking down of the the party <v Speaker 2>decorations and uh, the the cake eating paraphernalia and whatnot. <v Speaker 1>Cake eating pernilia also known as forks cake eating paraphernalia. <v Speaker 2>Okay, Vin, you know, and and it turns out that <v Speaker 2>that that that that that parent is a a serial killer. Muhm, <v Speaker 2>is that is that my fault? I mean, they volunteered <v Speaker 2>their time, they came in to do their own independent <v Speaker 2>labor work, and uh, you know, these are things that <v Speaker 2>I'm I'm not privy to mistake. <v Speaker 1>I understand I have to be the bad guy here. <v Speaker 1>I understand that that's the hand I've been dealt in <v Speaker 1>this country. <v Speaker 2>I'm prepared to I'm prepared for the fact that I <v Speaker 2>will be uh persecuted on a on a on a <v Speaker 2>national television level. But these are things that you know, <v Speaker 2>the world must consider moving forward in the future, as <v Speaker 2>we need to provide a more system systematic approach as <v Speaker 2>to how we deal with with predators and the the <v Speaker 2>credit prey and creditors, yes, independent creditors for that matter. <v Speaker 1>So yeah, just to make it even more fucking perverse, <v Speaker 1>riad a check. Adderton is the ref of. <v Speaker 2>This match, I know, right right. <v Speaker 1>So if you want more on this angle, check out <v Speaker 1>the Lapsed Funk where we talk about Terry's WWF years <v Speaker 1>and his running with Hogan in eighty five and then <v Speaker 1>is run with the Flare in eighty nine on national television. <v Speaker 1>But it's suffice to say Bruno is familiar with the <v Speaker 1>Funks and does a good job putting over how Terry <v Speaker 1>has a reputation that precedes him and I He's not <v Speaker 1>entirely surprised at seeing Vince go off with this. You know, <v Speaker 1>Vince is just shocked and appalled at the violence being <v Speaker 1>committed on this innocent WWF referee or WWF personnel. And <v Speaker 1>the security is out there carrying mel Phillips out of <v Speaker 1>the ring, and Funk gets in the ring, pumping the jab, <v Speaker 1>throwing left hooks. He's all over Aldo Marino the job <v Speaker 1>or that he's wrestling, and they do call out Rita <v Speaker 1>Marie is the first lady official of the World Rossling Federation, <v Speaker 1>and Funk tosses Aldo out of the ring, gets in <v Speaker 1>a fan's face like he used to do. He'll put <v Speaker 1>the blue railing and stomps his head and screams like <v Speaker 1>a mad dog at the crowd and just basically beats <v Speaker 1>his ass, puts the spin too hold on. Rita calls <v Speaker 1>for the bell and Funk prances around. Fa announces him <v Speaker 1>as the winner, and he's pointing to scream at the fans, <v Speaker 1>getting in their face with the you know, wagging his <v Speaker 1>finger like bring it to some of these fans. And <v Speaker 1>that's a villainy on display here in Colisseum home video. <v Speaker 1>Now it's Iron Cheek versus Corporal Kirchner Genioklern says the <v Speaker 1>iron cheek ad mentally is a great and talented athlete. <v Speaker 1>But under the guidance of classy Freddy Blassie, what this <v Speaker 1>man has become really disgusts me and Nikolai Volkoffs there <v Speaker 1>as well, think is introducing them from to Ron two <v Speaker 1>fifty eight, the iron Cheek, he's waving the. <v Speaker 2>From April twenty second, nineteen eighty six. Sixth that the garden. <v Speaker 2>Where's Corporal Kirchner from Fort Bragg? Thank you very much? <v Speaker 1>Two hundred and sixty three pounds. <v Speaker 2>Ironically, his parents don't brag about him very much? <v Speaker 1>Right, she grabs the mic. Well, actually she wrote the book, <v Speaker 1>but yeah, that's true. Well she grabs a mic. You people, <v Speaker 1>shut up. Here's corporal in his beret from the eighty <v Speaker 1>second Airborne with the stars and stripes raised high. <v Speaker 2>I mean, what the fuck is this guy all about. <v Speaker 1>It's like Vince constantly trying to Rambo or g I Joe. <v Speaker 1>It's probably Vince all pissed off that slaughter left and <v Speaker 1>telling himself he can make a new one. <v Speaker 2>Oh, it's exactly what it is. There's no question that's <v Speaker 2>exactly what he's got. Yeah, it's so fucking ridiculous because nobody, <v Speaker 2>nobody wants this nobody wants this guy. <v Speaker 1>Well, they're still willing to let WWF tell them what to. <v Speaker 2>Want in this era, so I don't want it. <v Speaker 1>Lord Ali says, I've never seen anybody get so high <v Speaker 1>for their matches the way Corporal Kirchner does. Well, he <v Speaker 1>was in the eighty second Airborne, so that's true. <v Speaker 2>Good point. <v Speaker 1>Ernie Ladden the call too for this matchup as well. <v Speaker 1>And mel Phillips rolls up the American flag. He doesn't <v Speaker 1>get fucking attacked for that one, so you can see <v Speaker 1>Will Phillips used to play that role. That was kind <v Speaker 1>of why the angle was so impactful. You'd always see <v Speaker 1>mel Phillips take the ring, jackets and stuff, and he <v Speaker 1>did it. Terry fun Funk took it the wrong way. <v Speaker 2>A great angle, I know. <v Speaker 1>She verus Kirchner. She seizes immediately on on Kirchner, whipping <v Speaker 1>a clothesline and chokes him with his head scarf. Lad <v Speaker 1>Goes did the bell ring, thanks, Ernie. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, he wasn't paying attention. She wouldn't you know at all. <v Speaker 1>She whips Kirchner and backdrops him. Bell now sounds there <v Speaker 1>you go. <v Speaker 2>Gorilla, Gorilla. He shares a Chiks championship accomplishment, and Lord <v Speaker 2>l Lord El's reaction and his reply is just, you know, <v Speaker 2>I'm sure that he is saying it earnestly, but man, <v Speaker 2>he says it so dryly that it seems sarcastic. <v Speaker 4>You're looking at a former were Rustling Federation Tagle Team championship. <v Speaker 2>Holder as well as heavyweight check. <v Speaker 1>Yes, it's not astonishing, Yeah, especially when you put it <v Speaker 1>that way out. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, like that astonishing. It's like, girl, isn't it. <v Speaker 1>Iron Sheek coming with the original hawk to us, spitting <v Speaker 1>on the canvas. Corporal Kirchener, by the way, Iron cheeks <v Speaker 1>and bright yellow tights with the pointed boots, making rude <v Speaker 1>gestures as well doing link the up yours and all that, <v Speaker 1>and they say, Lord Al says, I can't stand it. <v Speaker 1>Iron Cheek has no dignity whatsoever, Irish whipping a drop <v Speaker 1>down in. Corporal Kirchner here leap frogs and slams Iron <v Speaker 1>Cheek and drops an elbow and drags Chek into the <v Speaker 1>corner and scream. The crowd screams as Kirchner has both <v Speaker 1>of Cheek's ankles in his hands and a yank cheeked <v Speaker 1>down crotch first into the ring posts. <v Speaker 2>That's right, oh, chic. <v Speaker 1>And Ernie Latt is taking issue with this because he's <v Speaker 1>saying that, you know, Corporal Kirchener has been working on <v Speaker 1>the neck. You got to stay on the neck. You <v Speaker 1>can't just now start working on the leg after working <v Speaker 1>on the neck the second time on this tape where <v Speaker 1>this heretofore unknown rule of wrestling is mentioned, and Corporal <v Speaker 1>gets back in the ring, and Lord El says, Corporal <v Speaker 1>Corporal gets so hyped up for these matches. <v Speaker 2>He doesn't here, I got, I got, you get, I <v Speaker 2>gotta play this one. This one's just too fucking this <v Speaker 2>is amazing. <v Speaker 13>Oh, he got so hyped up for these much as <v Speaker 13>he really doesn't know what he's doing. <v Speaker 1>That's evident. <v Speaker 11>Now. <v Speaker 1>Sometimes I wonder Val was playing some games, you know. <v Speaker 2>I mean, I imagine he must have. But I mean, at <v Speaker 2>the same time, he's he's trying to like he's trying <v Speaker 2>to like, you know, compliment him on his on his <v Speaker 2>game plan. But man, he just he fucking blew that one. <v Speaker 1>Sure did, Sure did kircher over the head button a <v Speaker 1>great high vertical soup lex for two, got rent suplex <v Speaker 1>for two. You have Grill Monson coughing away on the commentary. <v Speaker 2>Ah and no cough button for him, and. <v Speaker 1>Corporal Wi whip in a dropkick but no iron. Cheek <v Speaker 1>holds onto the ropes and Corporal Kirch crashers into the map. <v Speaker 1>And then when a dropkick, Cheek puts the stomps on <v Speaker 1>Government sup Lex gets to back up. Corporal snatches the <v Speaker 1>whip and hits the ropes in kicks kick kicks him <v Speaker 1>while he's dropping down. That Sheik does. Grilla Monsoon says, <v Speaker 1>you cannot drop your head or take your eyes off <v Speaker 1>an opponent, and that highly suspected boot is called out <v Speaker 1>by al Hayes. Sheik applies the abdominal stretches. Monson says <v Speaker 1>he's not going to beat him with this. He has <v Speaker 1>nowhere near the leverage needed. I got to give Monsoon <v Speaker 1>credit man. He always had that eye for whether a <v Speaker 1>guy had the hold appropriately applied. <v Speaker 2>He did, he always knew about I will say he <v Speaker 2>knew that. I mean I did appreciate it, always appreciated <v Speaker 2>his his comments on on on on holes and pins <v Speaker 2>and average all sorts of that stuff leverage, you know, <v Speaker 2>like it. I actually I always believe that and to <v Speaker 2>this day it makes me think like you look at <v Speaker 2>a pinfall and if someone's putting somebody not hooking the leg, <v Speaker 2>you just know that, you know, you question, what the <v Speaker 2>if it's a solid pin or now. <v Speaker 1>He's not going to get him like that you're lordship <v Speaker 1>and you know I kind of make fun of him <v Speaker 1>for it. But the thing is is with guy the <v Speaker 1>corporal Kirchener, who's kind of a wept behind the ears, <v Speaker 1>flailing guy who wasn't really polished in the ring, it's <v Speaker 1>kind of a clever way to like, you know, wallpaper <v Speaker 1>over that a guy kind of doesn't look really good <v Speaker 1>in the ring. You know, it's like, yeah, course, I <v Speaker 1>mean he's all hearts, he's in it for the right reasons, <v Speaker 1>but the announcers aren't afraid to call out that he's <v Speaker 1>not really fully developed yet and he's raw right, instead <v Speaker 1>of pretending he's the greatest thing ever while he's looking <v Speaker 1>kind of like foolish trying to do elbow drops. You know, <v Speaker 1>they can almost use that to their advantage and make <v Speaker 1>you think you're watching a guy develop and show flashes <v Speaker 1>of brilliance as opposed to somebody who doesn't quite belong <v Speaker 1>on television yet, you know, right, So anyway this is <v Speaker 1>playing out, is that Corporal Kirchener is that Jack Black <v Speaker 1>by the wayims Corporal Kircher wishes he was Jack Black. <v Speaker 1>Chircher breaks free and Hiptoss's chic out and drops a knee. <v Speaker 1>Then he hits the ropes and misses a big elbow <v Speaker 1>drop or any lad says, it's great to be born <v Speaker 1>in America and the people let you know they appreciate, <v Speaker 1>uh you as an American. That's great to know that. <v Speaker 2>I'm glad that I feel appreciated as an American. <v Speaker 1>Sunset flip by Corporal Kirchner gets two on the sheek, <v Speaker 1>and Lord Al complains he didn't have the leg on <v Speaker 1>the shoulders and they laugh. They laugh at Corporal Kirchener, yes, <v Speaker 1>for the fact that he didn't put his legs on <v Speaker 1>the shoulders. After the sunset flip, there's a whip in <v Speaker 1>Corporal Corporal Kirchioner kicks Chek again and then monsoon hopes <v Speaker 1>that Corporal had more intuition when he jumps out of <v Speaker 1>that plane with a parachute than he does applying that <v Speaker 1>sunset flip. They're fucking he's not going to survive this one, <v Speaker 1>good corporal. <v Speaker 2>He's done. He's done. Sorry guys, but he's done. <v Speaker 1>She suddenly begins praying, and Monsoon says, the sun must <v Speaker 1>be going down somewhere. Ah lord Al snickers at that. <v Speaker 1>One lad goes, who's he praying to? <v Speaker 2>Oh? <v Speaker 1>I don't know, Jesus Christ. The floor goes Kirchener and <v Speaker 1>Blassy waffles in with the cane. You can see the <v Speaker 1>announcers there at ringside and they say it's utterly disgraceful <v Speaker 1>what blass he just did. Of course, the is a <v Speaker 1>hyatola blasting classy Freddy. <v Speaker 2>Right, not classy. He's not classy here he is. He <v Speaker 2>is simply ayahtola. <v Speaker 1>And as a result of that interference by the heel <v Speaker 1>ish uh freddy Blassie, the referee counts kerpl Kirchner out <v Speaker 1>of the ring and the clears iron cheek the victor. <v Speaker 1>So we finally get a fucking heel winning a match <v Speaker 1>on the yeah killain stape. And then Nikolai throws Kirchner <v Speaker 1>in the bells keep ringing and they double up on <v Speaker 1>him and they rip his shirt off, and Cheek warms <v Speaker 1>the boot up and kicks him in the gut, and <v Speaker 1>Ernie Lad's calling for help and Volkov's going off with punches. Finally, <v Speaker 1>Corporal fights back, fights him back and hits the floor, <v Speaker 1>grabs one of those chairs, and they scram We showed <v Speaker 1>the Manager of the Year thing that we've revisited a <v Speaker 1>hundred times where he, you know, declares himself manager of <v Speaker 1>the year tabulating the votes. <v Speaker 2>Okay, we seen this. We saw this on the lou <v Speaker 2>Albano thing, probably right, and managers amazing managers, Yeah, probably both. Yeah, <v Speaker 2>Albano says, you wanted the trophy so bad, you got it. <v Speaker 2>So they attack Loui Albano with a trophy. And because <v Speaker 2>Abano was announced his manager of the year, do we <v Speaker 2>do we know? Yeah, well he heenen was a sally <v Speaker 2>announced his manager of the year, and then it was <v Speaker 2>revealed that apparently he cheated. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, he like stuffed the ballot. <v Speaker 2>We don't, right, we don't really, yeah, we don't really <v Speaker 2>hear the details of that, which I am curious about, <v Speaker 2>like what what did he do exactly? <v Speaker 1>It's a great question, saying I remember now. <v Speaker 2>Not on this not on this tape, but maybe on <v Speaker 2>the other tape. I don't really remember. I didn't look <v Speaker 2>back to it. <v Speaker 1>I'm pretty sure there's like stuff the ballots. He got <v Speaker 1>a bunch of bunch of fake votes and there, and <v Speaker 1>they uncovered it and blindsided him with the knowledge that <v Speaker 1>they knew what he was up to. But so he <v Speaker 1>had Heenen blindside' Loewellbanna with the trophy. And then Bundy <v Speaker 1>in stead hit the ring. Stud takes him down, holds <v Speaker 1>his legs down, and then he smashed the trophy on <v Speaker 1>the corner. And then Bundy splashes Hillbilly Jim. It was <v Speaker 1>because Hillbilly Jim was up for Manager of the Year <v Speaker 1>as well. Yes, so he's in the ring and he <v Speaker 1>takes a bunch of splashes from Bundy. A stud holds <v Speaker 1>him down, setting up the the ultra heel the uberhel <v Speaker 1>nature of the Heenan family. And then uh Elmer and <v Speaker 1>cousin Luke hit the ring to run off the Heenan family. <v Speaker 2>Wait did you say, Uncle Elmer? What the fuck? Oh God, <v Speaker 2>damn it, I blew it heats a little. <v Speaker 1>And then Jean says, Bundy, is I suppose you'd like <v Speaker 1>the dishonor of this of introducing this two segments. Personally, <v Speaker 1>I think we'll live in infamy. And they're about to <v Speaker 1>talk about the taxing under the Giant, Bundy says we <v Speaker 1>should say King Kong. Bundy is the destroyer of legends <v Speaker 1>and champions. How many men can say they put on <v Speaker 1>the Giant out and sent the world champion to the hospital. <v Speaker 2>He's the destroyer of legends, diners and sandwiches. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, he's also definitely destroyer of corn beef. Hash has <v Speaker 1>absolutely with his bald head sitting there looking like, come <v Speaker 1>on god, looking like somebody Mario jumps on. <v Speaker 2>It's like one of the fucking mushrooms. Mario grow tall. Yeah, he's. <v Speaker 3>So. <v Speaker 1>They show Big John Studd versus Andre. When was this one? <v Speaker 1>May be Leieve Gardens? <v Speaker 2>Uh you know I stopped when they didn't actually have <v Speaker 2>the match breakdowns, But yeah. <v Speaker 1>Up the n w A logo on the apron because <v Speaker 1>they still would use the ring the Crocket would use <v Speaker 1>when they had the Toronto maybe yeah, they had the <v Speaker 1>ramp too, ww F for the ramp very uh interesting times. <v Speaker 2>Yeah. <v Speaker 1>So yeah, Heenan holds the scissors and stud gets the scissors. <v Speaker 1>Jesse calls it the biggest pair of scissors he's ever seen, <v Speaker 1>and Andre grabs the wrist try to block the use <v Speaker 1>of the scissors, and even bites the wrist of John Studd, <v Speaker 1>who drops the scissors temporarily. An Anderson should have tried that, <v Speaker 1>by the way, bite the yeah right, bite the wrist <v Speaker 1>of the hand holding the scissors. <v Speaker 2>Anyway, Andrew, how hard is that to even you know, <v Speaker 2>like even in desperation, you think you'd think of something <v Speaker 2>like that. <v Speaker 1>Absolutely arn his headbutting and chopping and fighting his way. <v Speaker 1>As he then gets in, Andre boots him, throws the <v Speaker 1>right hand. He then goes flying through the ropes onto <v Speaker 1>the ramp to a big pop. Referee picks up the <v Speaker 1>scissors as Andre is throwing uh right in the middle <v Speaker 1>of the ring on big John Study lifts him and <v Speaker 1>slams him to a monster pop. And then Andre grabs <v Speaker 1>the scissors from the ref and he's gonna get John <v Speaker 1>Stud's hair. But King Kong Bundy lumbers into the frame <v Speaker 1>from the rampway kind of effective the way he kind <v Speaker 1>of like walks into the frame from the bottom. <v Speaker 2>Of the spring. He fucking wattles. I mean, this is <v Speaker 2>where you get it. You get the real a real <v Speaker 2>chance to see what this guy's fucking body is like. <v Speaker 1>And and the perspective of where the cameras were the <v Speaker 1>maple leaf gardens too. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, yeah, because they were in a weird spot. <v Speaker 1>They were. <v Speaker 2>They were in a very very wild by. <v Speaker 1>The tunnel that they came out. <v Speaker 2>Yeah. And and and like at an angle too, like <v Speaker 2>not he actually looks like the the angle of uh, <v Speaker 2>the the ring in the Nintendo Wrestling WrestleMania Challenge. <v Speaker 1>Right, It's like it's like a diamond no more, right, exactly. <v Speaker 2>Huh. <v Speaker 1>That was a great game. I still love that game. <v Speaker 2>It was I like that one too. I like that <v Speaker 2>one a lot. <v Speaker 1>So he blindsides Andre Pearl harbored him of course, is <v Speaker 1>uh GIRLA Martons puts it. Bundy does Grilla declare, is <v Speaker 1>a pandemonium breaking loose. Andre's trying to get out of dodge, <v Speaker 1>but Stud takes him down and holds his leg down. <v Speaker 1>As King Kong, Bundy repeatedly splashes Andre. The giant Heenan <v Speaker 1>pulls the ropes and adds a little oomph to Bundy <v Speaker 1>splashes and then girl one says someone the ref has <v Speaker 1>to do something, even if it's wrong, to stop this. <v Speaker 1>Heen and whips Bundy into another splash, and then here's <v Speaker 1>Rick mcgrad. A bunch of other dabbronis come in. The <v Speaker 1>killer Bees hit the ring coastin junior. Crowd goes nuts. <v Speaker 2>Is that now everybody fucking comes out? I mean all <v Speaker 2>these dead people come out. <v Speaker 1>On the ramp, riling up the people, and Stud and <v Speaker 1>Bundy looking menacing here in the gardens. Announced that big <v Speaker 1>jumps that have been disqualified in the match with Andrea. <v Speaker 1>That gets a big popping months soon says, but how <v Speaker 1>about the permanent damage they've inflicted on under the Giant. <v Speaker 1>They're throwing stuff at Stud on the ramp and he's <v Speaker 1>egging them on, and Heen's trying to calm Stud on <v Speaker 1>the ramp. <v Speaker 2>Guess permanent damage. I mean we'll see no, no, even a <v Speaker 2>that seems like just a lot. It seems like kind <v Speaker 2>of a little much. That injury. <v Speaker 1>Well, it's villains to the squared circle getting heat. We <v Speaker 1>can say that, yes for sure. <v Speaker 2>Look go to. <v Speaker 1>Bundy versus Hogan. Hogan is heenan goozled with Morocco. This <v Speaker 1>is on Saturday. It's made event. Bundy comes from behind <v Speaker 1>and strikes and Hogan with yellow trunks. But white knee <v Speaker 1>pads back then, which I thought was curious. Oh yeah, yep. <v Speaker 1>Rocco holds him open Hogan in the corner for the <v Speaker 1>big avalanche to splash in the corner by Bundy. Vincent <v Speaker 1>Jesse of course on the call, and they say they've <v Speaker 1>never seen the Holtz in the state before. As Don <v Speaker 1>Morocco crosses the arms of Hogan and Bundy splashes him again, <v Speaker 1>and Venturis's I believe he's unconscious as heen and his <v Speaker 1>barking orders and Morocco turns over Hulk and Bundy splashes <v Speaker 1>the back of hul Cogan as well. He convulses on <v Speaker 1>the canvas. This, of course, the big angle is centerp <v Speaker 1>Brestlomania too, as the bulldogs hit the ring when the <v Speaker 1>crowd explodes. <v Speaker 2>I don't think I've ever seen this full angle no <v Speaker 2>played out. No, I don't think so, unless know, because <v Speaker 2>we haven't. I imagine we'll see more of it when <v Speaker 2>we get to Halcomenia too. Yes, I think you're right, <v Speaker 2>but I've never really, I've never really seen this whole thing. <v Speaker 1>So here's the big hair angle. Andrea st Jones versus <v Speaker 1>Studd and Baterra Jean says, this is our fininelly and <v Speaker 1>he hands it over two examples of this travesty. Heenan says, <v Speaker 1>turn your dials up and listen. Everybody told everybody, oh here, yeah, <v Speaker 1>I got I got this. This is this is good Okyo, <v Speaker 1>you humanoids, turn your dials up and listen to this. <v Speaker 10>I told everybody there's only room for one giant and <v Speaker 10>professional wrestling, and his name is stud with two d's. <v Speaker 6>What about a big john stuff. <v Speaker 11>You know, the Heenan family does everything as a family, <v Speaker 11>and that's why we accomplished so much. When it came <v Speaker 11>to Andrea, who was nothing but a thorn on our side, <v Speaker 11>and we have kept telling the world that he is <v Speaker 11>not the true giant that I am, we decided to <v Speaker 11>humiliate him on national television, in which we did. When <v Speaker 11>I had him down with the help of our member <v Speaker 11>Ken but Tara, who's not with us right at the moment, <v Speaker 11>he's stealing the family. <v Speaker 2>I had him by the hair. <v Speaker 11>Then I cut the hair right off his head, all right. <v Speaker 6>As the barber, John Studd, may I recommend you keep <v Speaker 6>your day. <v Speaker 9>Job and as an announcer and keep your mouth shut. <v Speaker 2>Tremendous. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, so yeah, they double slam Andre, and but Tara <v Speaker 1>comes to the midd of rope and drops the knee and <v Speaker 1>the bell's going off and they're just double teaming him <v Speaker 1>like crazy. Andre held open. Sim Martino's in the call <v Speaker 1>for this one, so he's all taking great unbridges. He <v Speaker 1>didn't gets up there. Of course, he's the pair of <v Speaker 1>scissors and stud goes to work cutting the hair of <v Speaker 1>Andre the Giant right here in the middle of the ring. <v Speaker 1>And this, of course, famously is where Vince goes. He <v Speaker 1>is raping under the giant. <v Speaker 2>I had the second time on a clip where he <v Speaker 2>happy for the end of the video. He says it again, Okay, <v Speaker 2>I don't know if you have anything before, I'll go <v Speaker 2>for it all right here it. <v Speaker 10>Is but Tara one of the strongest humid beings on <v Speaker 10>the record. But Tara holding Andre the Giant from behind, <v Speaker 10>and there, ladies and gentlemen, again we're looking at the <v Speaker 10>raping of a giant's dignity. <v Speaker 1>And so excited to say rape. <v Speaker 2>I mean all you know he was, I mean awesome. <v Speaker 2>It sounds like he's gonna say the raping of a <v Speaker 2>giant's dick. I want what it sounds like. Play it again. <v Speaker 1>And listen to that slight pause he takes before he <v Speaker 1>says right, yeah, just to really savor it. <v Speaker 10>But Tara one of the strongest human beings on the record, <v Speaker 10>But Tara holding on raight the giant from behind, And there, <v Speaker 10>ladies and gentlemen, again we're looking at. <v Speaker 1>The raping of a giant's dignity. <v Speaker 2>So yeah, I mean Jesus christ. <v Speaker 1>Andre gets his hair cut off, his raping, his rapage, <v Speaker 1>and that is the closing visual that we get here <v Speaker 1>on Villains of the Squared Circle. It's here, it's right here the trilogy. <v Speaker 2>Here is the Bruno Samartino best the volume seven and <v Speaker 2>then uh WWE's explosive TNT show. <v Speaker 1>Yes, they mentioned that one or the next trilogy as <v Speaker 1>as well, showing Heenan with the Ferret on TNT and yeah, yep, <v Speaker 1>and interviewing a little kid and asking him, kid, what <v Speaker 1>grade are you?
