This week: Do Moms Enjoy The Holidays?

  • Moms tend to be the creators of magic for the holidays for others to enjoy. This often means being too busy to enjoy them.
  • Try to be less of a perfectionist- everything WON’T be done. And that is O.K.
  • The added stress can lead to hating the holidays. We don’t want that! What can we do differently?
  • Remember to look around and take in everyone’s enjoyment. The hard work is worth it! You are creating a lifetime of memories for your family.
  • Remember it is a labor of love to build and follow traditions and create special memories.
  • It is ok to take a break and create short cuts. Is takeout an option? What is the most important to you?
  • Have perspective and gratitude. Stress will be less if you appreciate what you are able to do.
  • Set boundaries. What are your limits, and what is good enough?
  • Embrace “Good Enough!”
  • Ask yourself, “What do I enjoy?” when it comes to creating your holiday to-do list. Skip at least one thing that does not bring you joy.
  • Be more mindful of what you say yes to.
  • DELEGATE! Involve your family and give them jobs to help you out.
  • Create a plan well in advance. Allow yourself time to get things done a bit earlier so you are not rushing and exhausted when company arrives.
