<v Speaker 1>Hey, everybody, Welcome to Game Mes Mornings with Me Jeff Grub,
<v Speaker 1>your host from giant bomb dot com. This show's brought
<v Speaker 1>to you by MSI. We'll talk about more of that
<v Speaker 1>in a little bit. Thank you for tuning in. In
<v Speaker 1>this episode, we're gonna be talking about a real release
<v Speaker 1>date for the most anticipated game of the year, and
<v Speaker 1>is Nintendo's big holiday game actually coming very soon. It's
<v Speaker 1>gonna be a good one because we have jan at
<v Speaker 1>Cholla on the show. Jan how are you doing here?
<v Speaker 2>Is a word of advice for everyone listening watching live.
<v Speaker 2>If you are attending a wedding, any type of social gathering,
<v Speaker 2>even a funeral, If a four eleven Filipina woman approaches
<v Speaker 2>you and yells at you, hey, mother, effort, it's shot
<v Speaker 2>a clock, no matter what you believe in. I'm sorry,
<v Speaker 2>but it is shot a clock.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, you believe in shot clock. And that's it now.
<v Speaker 2>Yes, so so so there you go, everyone, there's your
<v Speaker 2>little word of advice for the day.
<v Speaker 1>You You went with it, right, You weren't like you
<v Speaker 1>know this because you went along with it, not because
<v Speaker 1>you denied it and bad things happened to you.
<v Speaker 2>I ain't a bust the grub. Someone does me and
<v Speaker 2>I do it.
<v Speaker 1>Yep, that's completely fair. Uh yeah, so how how was
<v Speaker 1>your night? Like, you don't have to get us the details,
<v Speaker 1>you don't have to docks anybody, but looked like, did
<v Speaker 1>you just do some dancing? You have some fun?
<v Speaker 2>What'd you eat? You know, grub. When you go to
<v Speaker 2>a wedding, you expect to just enjoy stuff. But then
<v Speaker 2>sometimes when you were close friends with the bride and
<v Speaker 2>groom but you're not necessarily in the bridal party, groom's
<v Speaker 2>been right, whatever, you may be asked to do some favors.
<v Speaker 2>Some of those favors, maybe it may require you to
<v Speaker 2>climb a rickety ladder and hang a veil over very
<v Speaker 2>thorny flower bushes. So a little cut up, but we're
<v Speaker 2>all good. Good.
<v Speaker 1>I could think of the Jans that were at my
<v Speaker 1>wedding and I'm like, yeah, I made him do some
<v Speaker 1>dangerous shit. Yeah definitely. Look if he died, I could
<v Speaker 1>like explain that to his family. Right, That's that's who
<v Speaker 1>you are to these people, and that's important. They need
<v Speaker 1>that exactly all right, you know what, let's get into it.

<v Speaker 1>later with chapters and timestamps on YouTube. Hello YouTube. All right,
<v Speaker 1>we have a lot to get into, so let's start
<v Speaker 1>the Morning Mess with Silksong finally launches in September. This
<v Speaker 1>comes from j Peters at the Verge Hollow Night. Silksong,
<v Speaker 1>the full sequel to Hollonight, that has been in development
<v Speaker 1>for years, will be released on September fourth. The news
<v Speaker 1>was revealed as part of a special announcement video that
<v Speaker 1>debuted on Thursday. In Silksong, you play as Hornet, a
<v Speaker 1>character that appeared in the original Hollonight. The game, which
<v Speaker 1>will be released on switch, PlayStation, Xbox, and PC, features
<v Speaker 1>a new kingdom with new areas to explore and new
<v Speaker 1>enemies and bosses to fight. We watched the video of
<v Speaker 1>this forty bosses. It looked really good promising. I think
<v Speaker 1>fans are going to be pretty happy with this after
<v Speaker 1>the very very long wait. Jan we also have like
<v Speaker 1>I kind of like had the thing. The summary here
<v Speaker 1>from Bloomberg's story. Jason Schreyer was able to talk to
<v Speaker 1>the studio about why it took so long, and it
<v Speaker 1>just sounds like they wanted to do a good job
<v Speaker 1>and they were enjoying it. I think a big part
<v Speaker 1>of it is they said that the game, the original
<v Speaker 1>game has sold fifteen million copies. Yeah. A significant factor
<v Speaker 1>in the extended development time was the financial success of
<v Speaker 1>Hollow Night, which has sold fifteen million copies. This allowed
<v Speaker 1>Team Cherry to work on Silk Song indefinitely without financial pressure,
<v Speaker 1>a luxury many indie developers don't have. Right, if you
<v Speaker 1>have that, you're going to use it. Like there's a
<v Speaker 1>thing about like procrastination happens because we just fill up
<v Speaker 1>all the time that we're given. And I don't think
<v Speaker 1>this was procrastination. This was leisurely sitting back and like
<v Speaker 1>enjoying the fruits of their labor and getting the chance
<v Speaker 1>to use all of the resources that they had available
<v Speaker 1>to them. And so the game's here now September fourth,
<v Speaker 1>two weeks away. This has got to feel like a
<v Speaker 1>pretty good moment for this studio, in this game, and
<v Speaker 1>for fans of this game. How are you feeling about it?
<v Speaker 2>I have kind of joined in on the mocking of
<v Speaker 2>the folks waiting for Silk Song and put placing bets
<v Speaker 2>on every Xbox Showcase, Nintendo direct or PlayStation stay to
<v Speaker 2>play of waiting to see it and kind of not
<v Speaker 2>being happy that it wasn't there, but like just continuing
<v Speaker 2>the joke for gosh, six years is it grub?
<v Speaker 1>I mean it's seven years of development, seven real years
<v Speaker 1>of development, So yeah, kind of six years of people
<v Speaker 1>like expecting it for sure, but to.
<v Speaker 2>Hear if that is completely the case from Team Cherry
<v Speaker 2>that they were able to have that leisurely time to
<v Speaker 2>work on it, fine tune things. That is definitely not
<v Speaker 2>a luxury that a lot of indie developers even have.
<v Speaker 2>Some don't even get the chance to make a second game.
<v Speaker 2>So the fact that they got to make this on
<v Speaker 2>their terms is I'm super psyched for the team, and
<v Speaker 2>I hope when the game comes out in two weeks
<v Speaker 2>Grub that it lives up to the expectations that people
<v Speaker 2>have been building up for six to seven years. And
<v Speaker 2>now I'm thinking, is two weeks long enough time for
<v Speaker 2>me to play through the original Holly Night in preparation
<v Speaker 2>for Silk Song?
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, I think you know it's worth calling out. It's okay.
<v Speaker 1>So was it all sunshines and rainbows? Yeah, it sounds
<v Speaker 1>like it was all sunshine and rainbows for this game,
<v Speaker 1>Like it's legitimately possible. So when we talk about mismanagement
<v Speaker 1>and and and greed driving problems inside of studios as
<v Speaker 1>it comes from decisions made above them, Yeah, sounds like
<v Speaker 1>that's what it is. Team Cherry's highly anticipated game, Silk Song,
<v Speaker 1>out September fourth, Ari Gibson and William Pellan described the
<v Speaker 1>process as joyful and driven by creativity rather than challenges
<v Speaker 1>or mismanagement. Now, of course I'm putting out a game.
<v Speaker 1>They want good feelings about it. But they went to it.
<v Speaker 1>Sounds like they just went to Shire and said, hey,
<v Speaker 1>let's talk about this like and you know, have access
<v Speaker 1>And Jason's not gonna like publish a story that's just
<v Speaker 1>a puff piece unless he knows it's true. So I
<v Speaker 1>just get I don't know, it is a beacon of hope.
<v Speaker 1>It's like, let's put this up on a pedestal and say, hey,
<v Speaker 1>this is possible. The people making games can be happy
<v Speaker 1>making games. Now, of course, fifteen million copies sold and
<v Speaker 1>having the money and the financial concerns not be a
<v Speaker 1>huge concern. Yeah, that's a key here. But a lot
<v Speaker 1>of places make a lot of money and still find
<v Speaker 1>ways to make everyone miserable miserable. So maybe we're just
<v Speaker 1>talking to those outfits and saying, hey, you don't have
<v Speaker 1>to do that. Maybe we can let the people who
<v Speaker 1>make games be happy. And you know, there's that meme
<v Speaker 1>want games to have longer development times and look worse
<v Speaker 1>and get have the developers paid more, and then everyone's
<v Speaker 1>that seems to have happened here except for maybe looking worse,
<v Speaker 1>And then the game is going to come along and
<v Speaker 1>I bet people are going to be just as happy
<v Speaker 1>to play this as anything else because this team really
<v Speaker 1>did this. Seem to take their time to get this
<v Speaker 1>game to exactly where they wanted it to be, So again,
<v Speaker 1>feel good story for me.
<v Speaker 2>Jan Yeah, I mean, I'm a fan. I know there
<v Speaker 2>are several folks chiming off that they're a little upset
<v Speaker 2>to have zero and no updates over the last couple
<v Speaker 2>of years, if everything was all sunshine and rainbows. But hey,
<v Speaker 2>sometimes like a team is just going to go heads
<v Speaker 2>down and work on something and they may operate in
<v Speaker 2>their own bubble because they kind of just want to
<v Speaker 2>keep fine tuning the game, so I can't fault them
<v Speaker 2>too much for that. But yeah, I love when small
<v Speaker 2>studios grub will will get the chance to shine. And like, sure,
<v Speaker 2>there's going to be your fair number of people poo
<v Speaker 2>pooing on the release and poo pooing on the game
<v Speaker 2>in general, but it seems like the overwhelming sentiment online
<v Speaker 2>is like, Yo, this game's real, It's coming out so soon,
<v Speaker 2>let's fucking go Yep. And I don't know, like I'm
<v Speaker 2>hyped for Team Cherry. I love other small studios like
<v Speaker 2>Super Giant, getting to make things on their own terms,
<v Speaker 2>so you know, the game will come out when it comes.
<v Speaker 1>Out exactly, and and that's you know that the thing
<v Speaker 1>that's actually that matters. You know, they talk about it
<v Speaker 1>about not updating people. They said they wanted to avoid,
<v Speaker 1>you know, spoiling any secrets, which of course they wouldn't
<v Speaker 1>have to do, but you know, you do feel like
<v Speaker 1>you're gonna have frequent updates, you have to have something
<v Speaker 1>to say. So maybe that would have put them in
<v Speaker 1>a position where they had to talk about their game
<v Speaker 1>in a way that they weren't ready to, or that
<v Speaker 1>they want their game to do the talking. I get
<v Speaker 1>that they also just genuinely believed that, you know, doing updates.
<v Speaker 1>Saying hey, we're still working on it, but it's not
<v Speaker 1>out yet, nothing else to say would have annoyed people
<v Speaker 1>even more, which I think is probably true. And you know,
<v Speaker 1>at the end of the game does do the talking,
<v Speaker 1>so you know, here we are, and if people are
<v Speaker 1>playing out like, oh, you know, they missed the release date,
<v Speaker 1>is that not mismanagement? You know, I don't think that's
<v Speaker 1>what we mean when we say mismanagement. I think that
<v Speaker 1>we're talking about does it have a detrimental effect on
<v Speaker 1>the people making the game, and then you know, does
<v Speaker 1>it hurt some financial bottom line. It's like, in this case,
<v Speaker 1>doesn't seem to have done any of that. It was
<v Speaker 1>just kind of annoying that people wanted a game and
<v Speaker 1>they didn't get it quite yet. But that happens in
<v Speaker 1>so many different circumstances. That's not really I think, reaching
<v Speaker 1>the bar of mismanagement for me. So yeah, again, feel
<v Speaker 1>good story. I hope it comes out and is as
<v Speaker 1>good as everyone wants. I have started Hollow Night a
<v Speaker 1>bunch of times now, jan I need to actually, like
<v Speaker 1>shoot play it. Who knows when I'll have time to
<v Speaker 1>do that though, As this, you know, comes out in
<v Speaker 1>the excitement starts to build, maybe I'll have to force myself.
<v Speaker 1>But I'll feel because it's a big game. Still, I
<v Speaker 1>think that you could play that game for like twenty
<v Speaker 1>five thirty hours just doing a straight playthrough, and I'm like,
<v Speaker 1>am I gonna have time to do all that and
<v Speaker 1>then go to Silk Song after that? Before the end
<v Speaker 1>of this year. I don't know, we'll see.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah. I'm specifically very happy for Mike Minatti that he
<v Speaker 2>can leave this fever dream that he's existed in, having
<v Speaker 2>played Silk Song a couple of years ago. I'm also
<v Speaker 2>very happy for Mary Kish, who is a big fan
<v Speaker 2>of Hollow Night.
<v Speaker 1>Yes, exactly, you know. And of course both Mike and
<v Speaker 1>Mary learned about the game from Dan. He was, you know,
<v Speaker 1>the evangelist out there, yeah, telling them about it. They
<v Speaker 1>never would have heard about it if it wasn't for him.
<v Speaker 1>So I think they should call him up and give
<v Speaker 1>him a special thank you. All right, I am typing
<v Speaker 1>into Google evo.
<v Speaker 2>Hell up, Dan was dummy Dan only like cal night
<v Speaker 2>late because bad Dan.
<v Speaker 1>We woke up Mike before noon and this is what
<v Speaker 1>he's like. So I gotta I gotta do something about that.
<v Speaker 1>Uh well, I love you, Love you too, Mike, Love
<v Speaker 1>you all right. Uh breaking news from Shaq News.
<v Speaker 2>Have you ever heard someone speak like gravy.
<v Speaker 1>But just now? Yeah, definitely, Yeah, Gravy turned into a
<v Speaker 1>person and no like nothing like they weren't given any bones.
<v Speaker 1>So yeah, all right. Sony sells it's co ownership stake
<v Speaker 1>in EVA, will return as sponsor esports company NOD win
<v Speaker 1>Gaming not in Gaming is buying the stake to take
<v Speaker 1>co ownership of EBO, with fellow owner RTS getting investment
<v Speaker 1>from Kadia, which I think is a Saudi group. In
<v Speaker 1>March twenty twenty one, Sony Interactive Entertainment acquired EVO in
<v Speaker 1>a joint venture with esports organization RTS. This week, Sony
<v Speaker 1>is stepping back from co ownership of the biggest fighting
<v Speaker 1>game tournament in the world as it sells its stake
<v Speaker 1>to India based esports group Not When Gaming. RTS will
<v Speaker 1>still continue to co own the brand with increased investment
<v Speaker 1>from Saudia Arabia's piff funded Kadea. Meanwhile, Sony will go
<v Speaker 1>back to being a sponsor for EVO in future events.
<v Speaker 1>The EVO Organization announced the details of its change in
<v Speaker 1>ownership and investment in a press release launch this week.
<v Speaker 1>It begins with SIE bowing out of its co ownership
<v Speaker 1>of EVO by selling its stake to NOD When kind
<v Speaker 1>of going over to details here we see if there's
<v Speaker 1>a quote and what we can even glean from that.
<v Speaker 1>EVA was built by a team whose authenticity and passion
<v Speaker 1>for the fighting game community are unmatched, said ax Shot
<v Speaker 1>ROTHI who is I believe from nod Win. Yes, this
<v Speaker 1>is a nod Win quote. We will continue SIU's great
<v Speaker 1>work and honor the legacy of everyone who is who
<v Speaker 1>has made it what it is today, while opening the
<v Speaker 1>door for a new generation to experience the spirit of EVO. Likewise,
<v Speaker 1>RTS shared enthusiasm basically just doing the whole thing you
<v Speaker 1>do in a press release, saying we're excited that this
<v Speaker 1>is happening. Thank you to Sony. We're ready to move
<v Speaker 1>on and be good partners in the future. Okay, Yeah, weird.
<v Speaker 1>I guess I don't necessarily know what this. I'm trying
<v Speaker 1>to like think this just happened. Jan Yeah, Sony bought
<v Speaker 1>Evo in twenty twenty one. You know they I wouldn't
<v Speaker 1>say they didn't do much with it. Evo certainly has
<v Speaker 1>grown over the last four years in terms of the
<v Speaker 1>boots on the ground and what like, what's available to do.
<v Speaker 1>You know, Sean comes back, Verno comes back, and they
<v Speaker 1>kind of talk about a thing that has a lot
<v Speaker 1>going on. It does feel like a mecca for fighting games,
<v Speaker 1>and it was always that to a certain extent, but
<v Speaker 1>they I've certainly done it more. They have built it
<v Speaker 1>up and made it like like really live up to
<v Speaker 1>that lineage. I guess what do you think this means
<v Speaker 1>for fighting games that that scene and what do you
<v Speaker 1>think this is saying about Sony?
<v Speaker 2>I am very confused by Sony's moves in the last
<v Speaker 2>two weeks, not just them increasing the PS five price,
<v Speaker 2>announcing that yesterday or over the last couple of days,
<v Speaker 2>but also being very adamant about how Marathon is still
<v Speaker 2>coming and talking.
<v Speaker 1>About their.
<v Speaker 2>Their strategy with live service games. Sony seems to be
<v Speaker 2>in a very weird play scrub, and I just can't
<v Speaker 2>predict them in a way that you can kind of
<v Speaker 2>predict and see with like the other two big companies.
<v Speaker 2>I this this doesn't seem well for EVO based off
<v Speaker 2>of a couple of people's reactions. You know, Christian is
<v Speaker 2>very tuned into the FGC scene, so I really trust
<v Speaker 2>Christian's opinion and thoughts on what this may may look like.
<v Speaker 2>A lot of people don't seem to be happy with
<v Speaker 2>nod Win Gaming taking over.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, I'm like, I'm looking at a nod Win right now,
<v Speaker 1>and it just seems like an es sports company, like
<v Speaker 1>like super slick in terms of like, oh, clearly they
<v Speaker 1>have a lot of like probably venture capitalist money or
<v Speaker 1>the equivalent or yeah, I'm just trying to see exactly
<v Speaker 1>what their deal is. Oh yeah, like you click on
<v Speaker 1>their stuff, Okay, Yeah, they say they're worth four hundred
<v Speaker 1>and ten million dollars things like that. I don't know.
<v Speaker 1>They work with Crafton, they do work with Sony. I
<v Speaker 1>do kind of wish that EVA was able to continue
<v Speaker 1>operating separately from traditional esports companies like this. I say
<v Speaker 1>traditionally that there's nothing traditional about them really, but like
<v Speaker 1>these companies that have established out or staked out this
<v Speaker 1>space because the sport scene is it does has always
<v Speaker 1>felt like a house of cards in a lot of ways,
<v Speaker 1>where they're like, hey, it's going to be like sports
<v Speaker 1>and sports make a lot of money because of this,
<v Speaker 1>this and this, and it's like, I don't know if
<v Speaker 1>esports does it's going to work exactly the same way.
<v Speaker 1>And then we kind of saw a little bit of
<v Speaker 1>a fallout from that a couple of years ago, where
<v Speaker 1>the esports valuations that were, you know, saying to all
<v Speaker 1>these teams and all these companies were worth millions, if
<v Speaker 1>not billions of dollars all kind of crashed and have
<v Speaker 1>never really fully recovered because while there are are decent
<v Speaker 1>viewership numbers, all that other money that was supposed to
<v Speaker 1>become pouring and just really wasn't happening. A big part
<v Speaker 1>of that is, like you know, they don't fill out stadiums. Really,
<v Speaker 1>there aren't necessarily season ticket holders. It's not exactly the
<v Speaker 1>same thing. It's it's something new and different. It has
<v Speaker 1>to be figured out that way. EVE always felt like
<v Speaker 1>or it has well, maybe continue to feel like that,
<v Speaker 1>but so far as always felt like up to that
<v Speaker 1>challenge of figuring out what is best just for fighting
<v Speaker 1>games and mixing and in with maybe what Nodwin does
<v Speaker 1>could dilute that. I don't know.
<v Speaker 2>I agree with you, Greb. Evo kind of felt like
<v Speaker 2>a bastion amongst E sports in general because EVO just
<v Speaker 2>had a very distinct personality and distinct vibe that was
<v Speaker 2>overwhelmingly pretty positive. I know when I went to EVO
<v Speaker 2>a couple of years ago, I may not be the
<v Speaker 2>most into fighting games, but I really enjoyed the feeling
<v Speaker 2>of being in the stadium and amongst that crowd, just
<v Speaker 2>because everyone is so juiced to be there, which for
<v Speaker 2>me felt very different than other esports events that I've attended.
<v Speaker 2>I mean, we went to DreamHack a couple of years ago,
<v Speaker 2>and the Rocket League scene is very interesting, at least
<v Speaker 2>the esports side of it. Very different from what EVO
<v Speaker 2>felt like, because the competitive Rocket League scene at DreamHack
<v Speaker 2>felt very corporate. It felt very like, Hey, I'm a manager,
<v Speaker 2>I manage this team. These are my players, versus EVO,
<v Speaker 2>where it felt more like the players were actually in
<v Speaker 2>charge of, yes, their respective games and everything, like you
<v Speaker 2>got to know someone like that, justin Wong, you got
<v Speaker 2>to know a Sonic Fox, where like a different specific
<v Speaker 2>player versus like what feels like a mini corporation yep.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah. And then from Sony's side, I just think this
<v Speaker 1>is them continuing to kind of like they're like, maybe
<v Speaker 1>we're super duper reinvesting in all kinds of different video games,
<v Speaker 1>and then I don't know, it seems like they kind
<v Speaker 1>of are reassessing all the decisions they made in the
<v Speaker 1>last five years, and maybe all their focus is like, Okay,
<v Speaker 1>what are we doing with live service games. We haven't
<v Speaker 1>quite figured that out, and yet we still clearly have
<v Speaker 1>an appetite, according to our CFO, to do exactly that.
<v Speaker 1>So are these other things distractions, and it's like, yeah,
<v Speaker 1>I think EVO would probably qualify as a distraction. This
<v Speaker 1>thing that is predictable, profitable, but not going to be
<v Speaker 1>It's not a growth opportunity right like it is. I
<v Speaker 1>mean I don't think it is, at least not without
<v Speaker 1>a ton of work or a company behind that is
<v Speaker 1>specifically focused on that space. And really the ways that
<v Speaker 1>you can maybe grow it could also ruin it. So yeah,
<v Speaker 1>maybe Sony just doesn't want to be in that position.
<v Speaker 1>I don't know. You hear more from them if they
<v Speaker 1>have any more reason why they did this.
<v Speaker 2>I mean, we have a super chat for motor World
<v Speaker 2>hype here grub they're saying Sony's entitened the belt mode.
<v Speaker 2>I would not be surprised if a round of layoffs
<v Speaker 2>are next. Yeah, based off of a lot of their moves,
<v Speaker 2>I would prefer there not to be layoffs, more layoffs
<v Speaker 2>in the industry Grub. But they do seem to be
<v Speaker 2>making odd moves and divesting certain stuff grub where it
<v Speaker 2>doesn't feel like the company's completely healthy right now.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, yeah, I think. And it's worth noting that Sony's
<v Speaker 1>most recent earnings call was positive and especially PlayStation was
<v Speaker 1>doing very well, but we are like looking at their
<v Speaker 1>decision making and the way that they are rolling certain
<v Speaker 1>things out and increasing prices, and it's like some of
<v Speaker 1>these things do betray that there's something else, like a
<v Speaker 1>feeling in SAT of Sonia like we got to get
<v Speaker 1>it now, while to getting is good, and I think
<v Speaker 1>that is That's the reality is the numbers for PlayStation
<v Speaker 1>looking very good might be telling a little bit of
<v Speaker 1>a lie because what is likely happening there is PlayStation's
<v Speaker 1>really finally seeing a migration of Xbox players where people
<v Speaker 1>are like, oh, I'm no longer going to invest in
<v Speaker 1>the Xbox ecosystem, but I still want to keep playing
<v Speaker 1>console games. I'm going to do my purchasing now on
<v Speaker 1>PlayStation instead because I don't believe in the long term
<v Speaker 1>viability of Xbox. That still means the overall market is
<v Speaker 1>not growing, which we hear repeatedly and continues to be true,
<v Speaker 1>and yet PlayStation's seeing an increase, So they are seeing growth.
<v Speaker 1>It's maybe a little bit of a okay for now, yeah,
<v Speaker 1>we could see we can make more money, but we
<v Speaker 1>are still worried about five ten years out and when
<v Speaker 1>this gen Z that cohort that is not buying games
<v Speaker 1>replaces everyone else. What are we gonna do next?
<v Speaker 2>I also wonder does EVO need to have several different
<v Speaker 2>other evos grub, because there is Evo and Evo at
<v Speaker 2>least two more other than the big one in Las
<v Speaker 2>Vegas every year. Also, Scrub mcgrub brings up a very
<v Speaker 2>important detail, grub. Does Poke Maine still own parts of Evo?
<v Speaker 1>Yeah? I don't know. Yeah, she was, she was involved.
<v Speaker 1>I'm not sure where she stands on all this. Probably
<v Speaker 1>I'm gonna say that she's a savvy investor and probably
<v Speaker 1>probably still has some Pokey made.
<v Speaker 2>I entered your giveaway for the espresso machine. Let me
<v Speaker 2>what it?
<v Speaker 1>Well, kind of what kind of espresso machine is that?
<v Speaker 1>Do you know?
<v Speaker 2>Llite l E L I T it's like a good
<v Speaker 2>big Boy one.
<v Speaker 1>Okay, all right, I want a good big boy one.

<v Speaker 2>Mobile All right, it's.
<v Speaker 1>Game Mess mornings. We're back back with my Mobo boy Jiannachella,
<v Speaker 1>Jeff Brown. Let's get into it. Tell you what. I
<v Speaker 1>was trying to troubleshoot a problem with the motherboard the
<v Speaker 1>other day, and I was wishing I had some damn
<v Speaker 1>LEDs to tell me what was the problem. I pluged
<v Speaker 1>on one of those little speakers even and it didn't
<v Speaker 1>give me any feedback. So whatever, I think I might
<v Speaker 1>be shot, I'll go. Let's go get a new one. Anyway,
<v Speaker 1>we got news, let's get back into it. Metroid Prime
<v Speaker 1>four has now been rated by the EESRB. This is
<v Speaker 1>from my Nintendo News. The long awaited Metroid Prime four
<v Speaker 1>Beyond is scheduled for this year, so it's no surprise
<v Speaker 1>to see that it has now been rated by the
<v Speaker 1>Entertainment Software Ratings Board here in the United States. Metroid
<v Speaker 1>Prime four Beyond was given a T for teen rating
<v Speaker 1>for the inclusion of animated blood and violence. Okay, yeah,
<v Speaker 1>the rating not too surprising. Doesn't really matter either, but
<v Speaker 1>when these things get raided, we always point out that
<v Speaker 1>they tend to follow with a relatively quick release six
<v Speaker 1>weeks or so. Not always. There's definitely always exceptions to that.
<v Speaker 1>But this thing's rated. I'm starting to like, say, Okay,
<v Speaker 1>I to tell you where it was before this news. Jan,
<v Speaker 1>I knew there was a rating that happens elsewhere, but
<v Speaker 1>I was kind of ignoring that, and I was like,
<v Speaker 1>maybe there is a chance this thing might get delayed.
<v Speaker 1>At twenty twenty six, I am back like, Okay, this
<v Speaker 1>news gives me the hope. They're like, no, I'm just
<v Speaker 1>being paranoid. I don't want like, I'm afraid Dan's gonna
<v Speaker 1>get Dan luck. It's going to help him in the
<v Speaker 1>Fantasy Critical League, and I'm not going to get to
<v Speaker 1>play this game this year. But seeing it rated by
<v Speaker 1>the ESRB, that is like Nintendo putting together a video
<v Speaker 1>file of the things that happened in the game, sending
<v Speaker 1>it to the ESRB to their contact there being like, yep,
<v Speaker 1>you should get ready for this like that that doesn't
<v Speaker 1>just happen. So I'm maybe back on board this game
<v Speaker 1>fully coming out pretty soon. But Jan, how soon do
<v Speaker 1>you think that is?
<v Speaker 2>Gosh, A lot of people are pointing out that same
<v Speaker 2>little little factoid grub of game generally releasing close to
<v Speaker 2>six weeks after getting rated by the ESRP, so that
<v Speaker 2>would throw us not an exact science, but yes, not
<v Speaker 2>an exact science, but that would throw us into October,
<v Speaker 2>like last week is September, early October, and it is
<v Speaker 2>Nintendo just continues to be interesting in their approach to
<v Speaker 2>just announcing and releasing games, but also holy smokescrub, I
<v Speaker 2>was not expecting the last half of this year to
<v Speaker 2>be so heavy with releases.
<v Speaker 1>October, specifically October got wild.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, and I am just.
<v Speaker 1>What were all these games gonna do? I Am not
<v Speaker 1>Metroid Prime four, but what are all these other games
<v Speaker 1>gonna do? Had Grand Theft Auto come out? I don't know.
<v Speaker 2>Maybe they were just trying. Well, maybe this is actually
<v Speaker 2>part of the reason why Metroid Prime four has like
<v Speaker 2>stalled so much on the messaging. I wouldn't imagine Silk
<v Speaker 2>Song felt the GTA six pressure at all, but Grub
<v Speaker 2>this it's it's getting to the point where I'm I'm thinking,
<v Speaker 2>oh no, it's too many games, but also yeah, thinking
<v Speaker 2>yay a bunch of games.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, Like there was already like I was like looking
<v Speaker 1>at the next couple of weeks, like Shanobe this that
<v Speaker 1>now all of a sudden, hollow night, is there a
<v Speaker 1>Silk Song in two weeks from now? I'm trying to see, like,
<v Speaker 1>what is coming for switch to in September. In October, Oh,
<v Speaker 1>Kronos is coming to switch I guess I didn't realize that.
<v Speaker 2>That's yeah, next couple of weeks.
<v Speaker 1>Two. Yeah, that's also like two and a half weeks away. Okay,
<v Speaker 1>So for switch to in September, I see Sonic Racing
<v Speaker 1>Cross Worlds. I see, Uh, is that Kirby stuff out
<v Speaker 1>in September? Is that when I let me look? When
<v Speaker 1>there's that Kirby. Kirby air Riders is November twentieth. I
<v Speaker 1>know that Kirby and the Forgotten Land is, Oh, that's
<v Speaker 1>next week Kirby in the Forgotten Lands update for the
<v Speaker 1>switch to. Okay, so that's late August. Yeah, I think
<v Speaker 1>October does make some sense. Maybe even late September. I
<v Speaker 1>guess that's not impossible, But like for October, I believe
<v Speaker 1>Nintendo had one thing but it wasn't too big, so yeah,
<v Speaker 1>they could fit that in there. And then we do
<v Speaker 1>know Kirby air Riders is November twentieth. They still have
<v Speaker 1>Age of Imprisonment that could come out at anytime. That's starting
<v Speaker 1>to feel like maybe the December game. Nintendo does tend
<v Speaker 1>to like to have a December game. You know, there
<v Speaker 1>was a time where getting it out before Black Friday
<v Speaker 1>was crucial. That is the time we are far removed from.
<v Speaker 1>So yeah, man, could we get this game by October?
<v Speaker 2>Oh, folks are pointing out Pokemon Legends ZA is also
<v Speaker 2>in October, so.
<v Speaker 1>That's right, yes, October, right, that's what. Okay, so there
<v Speaker 1>is a massive game, but that I mean that was
<v Speaker 1>late late October, yes, and then okay, so and then
<v Speaker 1>they could still put metroc Prime in October or even
<v Speaker 1>like early November. Maybe that's when that goes. Because if
<v Speaker 1>Kirber Riders is November twentieth, they could put out Metro
<v Speaker 1>Prime four in very early November and that wouldn't feel
<v Speaker 1>weird at all.
<v Speaker 2>I yeah, even if they wanted to do late September,
<v Speaker 2>mid September, I think they could pull that off and
<v Speaker 2>still give enough of a breathing room to Pokemon. I
<v Speaker 2>feel like at the same time, folks pointing out October
<v Speaker 2>is big because of Pokemon, I don't see anything necessarily
<v Speaker 2>competing with Pokemon, because Pokemon is going to be big
<v Speaker 2>regardless of if.
<v Speaker 1>It's whatever else. Yeah, yeah, it's its own thing. Yeah,
<v Speaker 1>separate from all this.
<v Speaker 2>Like a lot of friends that I know that are
<v Speaker 2>still super into Pokemon, or even like my casual friends,
<v Speaker 2>they don't. They're not going to care about Metroit Prime four.
<v Speaker 2>They're only going to care about the next Pokemon game
<v Speaker 2>coming out. So I don't if both were to launch
<v Speaker 2>in October, I don't think that would be the wildest thing.
<v Speaker 1>I don't think it would be crazy at all. No,
<v Speaker 1>not at all, you know, And I always wonder, like
<v Speaker 1>how much Nintendo try I used to spread these things
<v Speaker 1>out and fill out a calendar. It seems like they
<v Speaker 1>do it a lot, so they probably are thinking along
<v Speaker 1>these lines. But Metro Prime four does have to come out,
<v Speaker 1>and while these other games are getting release dates, you know,
<v Speaker 1>they'll just have to find a slot for this game.
<v Speaker 1>And I don't think they'll be too precious about it
<v Speaker 1>up against the game like Pokemon. As you pointed out,
<v Speaker 1>I think these two things can coexist. So I think
<v Speaker 1>I would put my like window of release possibilities there
<v Speaker 1>at late September I'm sorry, late October to early November.
<v Speaker 1>It is kind of what I would think, so a
<v Speaker 1>little bit of a wait still, but not too much.
<v Speaker 1>And then the question becomes when do we hear about
<v Speaker 1>this game? Next well, hopefully they do actually follow through
<v Speaker 1>with that typical September Nintendo Direct and just go hog
<v Speaker 1>wild with the game. At that point, leaks again hint
<v Speaker 1>at Valve doing a proper Steam Machine console. This is
<v Speaker 1>from Liam Dalway at Gaming on Linux. We are again
<v Speaker 1>seeing leaks of a potential future console from Valve, which
<v Speaker 1>is exciting considering how well the Steam deck has done one.
<v Speaker 1>Valve was always working on something, though, and seeing leaks
<v Speaker 1>doesn't mean that we're current or that they're currently working
<v Speaker 1>on something that will ever actually release. Valve did also
<v Speaker 1>previously complete completely dismiss another rumor, but this one at
<v Speaker 1>least has some more substance to it. The what here
<v Speaker 1>is as reported by Sadly It's Deadly on Twitter, noting
<v Speaker 1>that a geek bench result had appeared for Valve Fremont.
<v Speaker 1>Going by the details, it's currently using a Hawk point
<v Speaker 1>two CPU that just sounds too much like Haktua, noted
<v Speaker 1>as in a AMD custom CPU seventeen seventy two featuring
<v Speaker 1>six cores and twelve threat threads. It has eight gigabytes
<v Speaker 1>of RAM. The benchmark actually was running Windows, which was
<v Speaker 1>maybe the weird thing here, but I guess if you're
<v Speaker 1>just trying to test the hardware and you're trying to
<v Speaker 1>compare it against other benchmarks. Putting Windows on there is
<v Speaker 1>actually the way to do it, because you want to
<v Speaker 1>see how it compares to other Windows environments. So I guess, really,
<v Speaker 1>and then we don't have the answer this where did
<v Speaker 1>this come from? Is this Valve doing this testing? Is
<v Speaker 1>this someone else testing something externally?
<v Speaker 2>Uh?
<v Speaker 1>You know, does Valve have a partner at AMD says hey,
<v Speaker 1>maybe building some new custom hardware that we can kind
<v Speaker 1>of see what is possible. Is it just that basic,
<v Speaker 1>just some early research and development, or are we getting
<v Speaker 1>a real Steam you know, consolized PC here as soon
<v Speaker 1>I could see that, because again the Steam deck did
<v Speaker 1>work very well, and I think I think Valve is
<v Speaker 1>looking around and being like, you know, we can't rely
<v Speaker 1>on like, you know, consoles to always be there to
<v Speaker 1>keep the massive audience of gamers happy. We got to
<v Speaker 1>like be ready to catch these people who maybe fall
<v Speaker 1>through the cracks. As the eight hundred dollars PS six
<v Speaker 1>like that likely gets announced in the next couple of
<v Speaker 1>years and maybe that cuts off a certain number of people.
<v Speaker 1>Could we have a five hundred dollars Steam box that
<v Speaker 1>they put on another the TV and it actually works
<v Speaker 1>this time because we have ironed out all the king
<v Speaker 1>thinks to the Steam Deck. That's I mean, all of
<v Speaker 1>that just kind of lines up for me. Jan I
<v Speaker 1>welcome this, But how likely do you think it is?
<v Speaker 2>One hundred percent? I think it's super duper likely, Grub.
<v Speaker 2>You know, I've gotten the chance to visit Valve a
<v Speaker 2>couple of times up in Washington, and that team just
<v Speaker 2>it feels the hardware team at least really feels like
<v Speaker 2>they know what they're doing and they know what they
<v Speaker 2>want to do. And but at this point, we have
<v Speaker 2>the oled Steam Deck, and that thing is like a
<v Speaker 2>very neat piece of hardware. And we've seen PlayStation, We've
<v Speaker 2>seen Xbox and all these other competitors go into and
<v Speaker 2>try and compete with the Steam Deck and also the Switch.
<v Speaker 2>If we're being honest in terms of like that handheld
<v Speaker 2>gaming experience, I think it's about time that Steam also
<v Speaker 2>goes to the other side of the fence and tries
<v Speaker 2>to compete with the consoles out there as well.
<v Speaker 1>Just provide an alternative, right, Yeah, like then maybe not
<v Speaker 1>even maybe if it's not even competing, right, they're not
<v Speaker 1>trying to buy their way into taking away market share
<v Speaker 1>the way like a Stadia what was trying to It's like, no,
<v Speaker 1>let's just make a product that makes sense for us,
<v Speaker 1>and then if we if we make it, do a
<v Speaker 1>good job actually producing that, people will just naturally find
<v Speaker 1>their way over to it, and we are in no
<v Speaker 1>rush because we make our money from Steam. I'd like,
<v Speaker 1>I think that sounds just fine to me. Now people
<v Speaker 1>pointing out, hey, Christians and Chad, hey, could this be
<v Speaker 1>a new Steam Deck? The reason it might it's probably
<v Speaker 1>not a Steam Deck is there is a dedicated RX
<v Speaker 1>seventy six hundred GPU in this thing, so it's not
<v Speaker 1>an APU, and APU is the GPU and the CPU
<v Speaker 1>on one system on a chip, all one containerized thing.
<v Speaker 1>You just put it in there and it's it's all
<v Speaker 1>ready to go. They have a dedicated, separate GPU in there.
<v Speaker 1>So that's the reason to believe it's very It would
<v Speaker 1>definitely be an APU if it was another Steam Deck
<v Speaker 1>or a handheld or something like that. That also answers
<v Speaker 1>the question of people pointing out eight gigabytes is very
<v Speaker 1>very low. It's too low for a machine like this. Now,
<v Speaker 1>even in this case eight gigabytes is still a little
<v Speaker 1>low for system memory, but that eight gigabytes would be
<v Speaker 1>for the system, and then the RX seventy six center
<v Speaker 1>GPU would have its own separate dedicated memory for its
<v Speaker 1>own v RAM, so eight gigabytes wouldn't be completely unworkable,
<v Speaker 1>although I still think it's probably a bit too low,
<v Speaker 1>probably twelve gigabytes for system memory and then the video
<v Speaker 1>memory on top of that, or maybe it could end
<v Speaker 1>up being a shared pool when they finally finalized the spec.
<v Speaker 1>Who knows. To me, I wouldn't worry too much about
<v Speaker 1>the RAM at this point because this is probably them
<v Speaker 1>maybe just testing the AMD new custom CPU and a
<v Speaker 1>bunch of different configurations and seeing what they can get
<v Speaker 1>away with.
<v Speaker 2>Like greviy, it has to be said that I hope
<v Speaker 2>this scares PlayStation. I hope this scares Xbox. Nintendo doesn't
<v Speaker 2>give a fuck. But because if you, as a customer,
<v Speaker 2>can suddenly find a Steam console box at a big
<v Speaker 2>box retailer like a best Buy Target wherever fucked target.
<v Speaker 2>But if you can get that and that, now you
<v Speaker 2>suddenly have access to so many games, games that go
<v Speaker 2>on sale frequently, a big library of things. If you
<v Speaker 2>are new to PC gaming, and this can kind of
<v Speaker 2>be the on ramp to all of that. Fantastic. Yeah,
<v Speaker 2>And I.
<v Speaker 1>Think if the byproduct of this is then as all
<v Speaker 1>these people that are involved in PC gaming sort of
<v Speaker 1>figuring out and iron out the pain points for people
<v Speaker 1>who are a little bit scared about PC gaming. This
<v Speaker 1>is nothing but a good thing. Yeah, all right, let's
<v Speaker 1>keep going here. BioShock four was planned for potential twenty
<v Speaker 1>twenty six release before it's delay. This is from Blair
<v Speaker 1>Marnell at GameSpot. Earlier this week, two K Games acknowledged
<v Speaker 1>a shakeup at Cloud Chamber, the studio behind BioShock four,
<v Speaker 1>following reports that the game failed in internal review. Now,
<v Speaker 1>a new report suggests that the game could have come
<v Speaker 1>out as soon as next year if BioShock four had
<v Speaker 1>been more favorably received by the company. According to Bluemberg,
<v Speaker 1>BioShock four was planned for eight debut in either late
<v Speaker 1>twenty twenty six or early twenty twenty seven. However, however,
<v Speaker 1>the subsequent layoffs at Cloud Chamber will likely delay the
<v Speaker 1>next Bioshot game even further. It's like so hard to
<v Speaker 1>like parse that out, Jan because it's they want this
<v Speaker 1>game out they keep saying like we're definitely gonna put
<v Speaker 1>it out. They have hired Rod Ferguson to kind of
<v Speaker 1>come in and finish the game, but they are also
<v Speaker 1>laying people off, which makes it to me sound like
<v Speaker 1>they are like going to a reduced staff so they
<v Speaker 1>can kind of like work their way back up to
<v Speaker 1>getting this game to a point of putting it out again.
<v Speaker 1>So maybe it's way further off than I'm even thinking.
<v Speaker 1>And I guess if we're talking about potential twenty twenty
<v Speaker 1>six release it so it's never going to come out
<v Speaker 1>next year. But I thought, okay, so yeah, that means
<v Speaker 1>it comes out in twenty twenty seven. Is that even
<v Speaker 1>too soon for this game? Now? I don't know what
<v Speaker 1>do you think.
<v Speaker 2>Ah Grub Just based off of everything we've been hearing
<v Speaker 2>over the last couple of years and especially the last
<v Speaker 2>couple months, this game seems like it has gone back
<v Speaker 2>to the drawing board several times over that I'm not
<v Speaker 2>super confident in this game coming out anytime soon. Yeah,
<v Speaker 2>and you know, with changes, changes in leadership, sometimes that
<v Speaker 2>can help a game come across the go across the
<v Speaker 2>finish line, But I don't know about that. In BioShock
<v Speaker 2>fors case. Yep, it's uh.
<v Speaker 1>It just continues to be a very weird one. It's
<v Speaker 1>not a game I was thinking about all that much
<v Speaker 1>before this most recent Hubbable looks. I'm like, ah, it
<v Speaker 1>doesn't feel real. I think it will quickly shift back
<v Speaker 1>into that phase of like, this doesn't feel like something
<v Speaker 1>that I'm gonna end up playing, and it will probably
<v Speaker 1>stay there until I see it being played somewhere on
<v Speaker 1>a stream or something. The setting for the next fortsa
<v Speaker 1>Horizon game has seemingly leaked via a car company. Jampa
<v Speaker 1>cost close attention to this one. Uh. This from Jordan
<v Speaker 1>Miller at VGC. The setting for the next Horizon game
<v Speaker 1>has seemingly been leaked thanks to a now deleted Instagram post.
<v Speaker 1>The post, made by Culton Classic and Australian Car Importer,
<v Speaker 1>shows a photographer taking pictures of a car and the
<v Speaker 1>caption that reads exciting dudes. We have Cody here from
<v Speaker 1>Forts the Horizon official shooting cars for the next installation
<v Speaker 1>in the series. As there are no late model Key
<v Speaker 1>cars in America, he has flown out from the United
<v Speaker 1>States to use our cars as the basis for their
<v Speaker 1>digital versions. We are huge gamers here at Culton Classic
<v Speaker 1>and as an honor to be supporting forts and making
<v Speaker 1>key cars accessible virtually for people who can't have them.
<v Speaker 1>I r l if you buy a car they've scanned,
<v Speaker 1>we have a prize for you too. How good? Uh
<v Speaker 1>so the reference to key cars believing we're going to Japan.
<v Speaker 1>Uh And I'll tell you what. I want to race
<v Speaker 1>some key cars all around the Japanese countryside.
<v Speaker 2>Let's go oh K yeah, it's pronounced K yeah.
<v Speaker 1>He is pronounced with the A sound. Look I read
<v Speaker 1>it my.
<v Speaker 2>Way, K cars, K trucks. I love those guys so
<v Speaker 2>much grub I want one so bad me too.
<v Speaker 1>I'm like I keep like I did, start like looking
<v Speaker 1>at him again and I can't afford one right now,
<v Speaker 1>but I keep looking at it, and I'm like, oh,
<v Speaker 1>be nice. Like I have. We have two family cars,
<v Speaker 1>my wife's car, my car. They both get in the garage.
<v Speaker 1>And that's nice because we can fit everything in the garage.
<v Speaker 1>That's cool. I like that. If I got a little
<v Speaker 1>truck to like run errands and stuff, where am I
<v Speaker 1>gonna park? Ass that going to go in the driveway?
<v Speaker 1>I don't know. I Steph's gonna be happy about that.
<v Speaker 1>But what if I just got one and didn't tell her?
<v Speaker 1>So Forts Horizon might help me out here so I
<v Speaker 1>can like satiate these cravings. And I don't know, I'm
<v Speaker 1>excited about.
<v Speaker 2>This though, Yeah uh grub, I mean there the thing
<v Speaker 2>is in California at least, and in some other states
<v Speaker 2>they're not legal to drive on the freeway. You can
<v Speaker 2>drive it through like regular roads, but like man Grove
<v Speaker 2>really want real bad.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, there's a super chat here from motor World Hype
<v Speaker 1>who says, I have no idea why the story of
<v Speaker 1>a dev scanning a K car has everyone thinking that
<v Speaker 1>Forts Horizon six is Japan bound. K cars have been
<v Speaker 1>in Horizon games before, it is not an indicator of location. Yeah, yeah,
<v Speaker 1>I think that's completely fair. I also think there's a
<v Speaker 1>chance that it's like people are combining two factors of like, okay,
<v Speaker 1>K cars are just making us think of Japan, and
<v Speaker 1>where else would the next game go? Like if it
<v Speaker 1>wasn't Japan, Jan do you have something that springs to mind?
<v Speaker 1>Because I bet if we didn't start this story with
<v Speaker 1>like where like with any of these details, we asked people,
<v Speaker 1>where do you think next Sports Horizon's going to take place.
<v Speaker 1>I think Japan probably would have been the number one answer.
<v Speaker 2>Uh, you know, we're looking at K cars, K trucks
<v Speaker 2>and scanning them, I'm trying to think of where else
<v Speaker 2>they are like heavily and densely populated. I could see
<v Speaker 2>like a Southeast Asian country being the setting. Yeah, somewhere
<v Speaker 2>like Thailand would be really cool.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, okay, a.
<v Speaker 2>Lot of mountainous areas there. Somewhere like Vietnam would be
<v Speaker 2>really interesting and very different. Like any Southeast Asian country
<v Speaker 2>would be a cool setting for a video game, specifically
<v Speaker 2>a racing game. Just looking at the lush settings and
<v Speaker 2>like forests, jungles and everything, it would be really cool.
<v Speaker 2>I don't necessarily think it'd be set in the Philippines,
<v Speaker 2>but I don't know. Could you see like a Forts
<v Speaker 2>of Horizon Bali for instance, grub.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, definitely. And you know what, maybe that even kind
<v Speaker 1>of lines up with how this franchise is gone recently,
<v Speaker 1>where it's like, yeah, people pointing out wouldn't guess Mexico
<v Speaker 1>and it's like, yeah, I guess, like when you were
<v Speaker 1>like if you've listed out, like where do these game
<v Speaker 1>franchises go? And it's like Mexico's not usually on that list,
<v Speaker 1>So the fact that they did that and they did
<v Speaker 1>a really excellent job with it, it's like, Okay, maybe
<v Speaker 1>they try to be a little bit more off the
<v Speaker 1>beaten path. So Japan's the obvious one. Maybe Southeast Asia
<v Speaker 1>is actually the kind of the cool cooler location in
<v Speaker 1>one of those countries there, or maybe multiple countries. That's
<v Speaker 1>always possible, right, it could be a cooperative thing. So
<v Speaker 1>either way, I am in the mood for a new
<v Speaker 1>Forts of Horizon. Kind of want to see where this
<v Speaker 1>is going.
<v Speaker 2>Yes, Also, if anyone wants to run me through the
<v Speaker 2>process of acquiring a K truck in California, DM your boy. Also, also,
<v Speaker 2>I keep forgetting to bring up this game on the
<v Speaker 2>podcast Scrub, but promise Mascot Agency you drive around a
<v Speaker 2>K truck And they recently add DLC where you can
<v Speaker 2>tonya pro skater style grind on rails with a K truck.
<v Speaker 2>So hell, yeah, that's sick as hell. That's sick as hell.
<v Speaker 2>Motor World Hype is back with an They're super chat.
<v Speaker 2>Everyone always thinks Japan before the next Horizon game comes out.
<v Speaker 2>It's almost a meme.
<v Speaker 1>At this point, Japan is not impossible, but expect them
<v Speaker 1>to take a hard left from expectations. Yeah, and I
<v Speaker 1>tend to agree with that, although at a certain point
<v Speaker 1>the least or the least expected thing is the thing
<v Speaker 1>that they always swerve away from right doing the expected thing.
<v Speaker 1>So eventually I think Japan will happen, although if you know,
<v Speaker 1>if they do a Southeast Asian country, maybe they'll take
<v Speaker 1>quite a bit of time before they would go back
<v Speaker 1>to Japan. I don't know I would welcome any of that.
<v Speaker 1>I think I just think it's probably sometime for some
<v Speaker 1>time for an East Asian country or Southeast Asian country
<v Speaker 1>for this series, and I think that would be pretty
<v Speaker 1>cool to see. All right, let's keep going here, night
<v Speaker 1>I've seen reiterates desire to remaster Eternal Darkness. This is
<v Speaker 1>from Ali Reynolds at Nintendo Life. Nightdives studio CEO Stephen
<v Speaker 1>Kick shouts out to Stephen has once again reiterated his
<v Speaker 1>desire to remaster Eternal Darkness Sanity's Requiem if you remember.
<v Speaker 1>Back in twenty twenty two, Kick posted on social media
<v Speaker 1>to state that Night Dive had been involved in discussions
<v Speaker 1>with Nintendo about remastering some of its games, but noted
<v Speaker 1>that the company was gunshy about working with third party developers,
<v Speaker 1>followed up by saying that Eternal Darkness is number one
<v Speaker 1>on my list. Now. In a new interview with Shaq News,
<v Speaker 1>Kick once again mentioned Eternal Darkness as one of the
<v Speaker 1>game's high ups, or that is high up on his
<v Speaker 1>so called bucket list of titles to remaster. I will
<v Speaker 1>say that there's another game really high on that list,
<v Speaker 1>and that would have to be Eternal Darkness. It's been
<v Speaker 1>kind of locked behind the game Cube slash Nintendo wall
<v Speaker 1>all this time, and it's something that I would personally
<v Speaker 1>love to see get re released. Sounds like that means
<v Speaker 1>it's definitely not happening yet, or else he wouldn't be
<v Speaker 1>talking about it. But I do get the sense that
<v Speaker 1>Nintendo is moving in the direction where something like this
<v Speaker 1>might be more possible. I'm surely the Eternal Darkness is
<v Speaker 1>going to pop up on the GameCube NSO, although they'll
<v Speaker 1>have to do a GameCube NSO mature version like they
<v Speaker 1>did in sixty four. Sure, but I'm sure we'll show
<v Speaker 1>up on there. But Nintuto has mentioned in the last
<v Speaker 1>two ish years so after this conversation that they were
<v Speaker 1>having with night Dive that they want to work with
<v Speaker 1>more third party developers, They want to bring more studios
<v Speaker 1>into the fold. This would be a good fit. Oh,
<v Speaker 1>night Dive. Let night Dive cook with the old Nintendo games.
<v Speaker 2>Yes, one hundred percent, and Nintendo you can trust night
<v Speaker 2>Dive because night dives last couple, I mean, Night Dives
<v Speaker 2>all of their remasters have just been loving ports of
<v Speaker 2>the og games. And I haven't noticed anyone be like
<v Speaker 2>personnigty about like, oh oh this zon and our everyone's
<v Speaker 2>been pretty hyped.
<v Speaker 1>Yep. I know. We talked to them and they were
<v Speaker 1>saying a bunch of games that they wanted to do.
<v Speaker 1>Eternal Darkness does feel like one. It's like just on
<v Speaker 1>the border of being impossible. But I don't think it's
<v Speaker 1>totally impossible. So we'll see. I want this Mitch Jeff
<v Speaker 1>Backlar yeah, back, get back of our chance to redeem
<v Speaker 1>this game in his eyes after he went back to it.
<v Speaker 1>And now, maybe you didn't have a good time with
<v Speaker 1>it because me and Dan were shouting at him the
<v Speaker 1>whole time and playing sound effects and being just clowns.
<v Speaker 1>But I doubt it. I think it was mostly the game. Yeah,
<v Speaker 1>all right, me and Motor decided on Donkey Kong Bananz's
<v Speaker 1>dig button placement. I'm not surprised by this for people
<v Speaker 1>that don't know what this means. On the switch to
<v Speaker 1>Donkey Kong Bananz's video game that came out, and you
<v Speaker 1>can dig down by hitting the B button to punch down.
<v Speaker 1>That's the south button on the face buttons that is
<v Speaker 1>traditionally in Nintendo platforms, a platform has always been the
<v Speaker 1>jump button. Now you can change it in the game.
<v Speaker 1>Dan did that, but I was like, you know what,
<v Speaker 1>this just feels like old Nintendo of we are going
<v Speaker 1>to try to map this concept of your punching down
<v Speaker 1>to the button that faces down and you're punching to
<v Speaker 1>the side to the side button you're punched up is
<v Speaker 1>on the up button, and I just like that. That
<v Speaker 1>feels like a classic Nintendo thing. So hearing that it
<v Speaker 1>was Miyamoto's idea does not surprise me, and I'm kind
<v Speaker 1>of glad that he's still there to kind of muck
<v Speaker 1>things up a little bit with his ideas.
<v Speaker 2>Jan, Yeah, I mean, in my head, uh, putting it
<v Speaker 2>on the down button the B button makes sense, I'm down. Yeah,
<v Speaker 2>Uh it it's funny because it feels like that's something
<v Speaker 2>or we're used to the jump being jump button being
<v Speaker 2>there because of Miamoto. But then he's like, yes, you
<v Speaker 2>know what, this makes sense in my head. Let's do this.
<v Speaker 1>And then you know, he was probably just like I
<v Speaker 1>just picked that button. You know, it just made sense
<v Speaker 1>at that time. Now this makes sense, or it's like
<v Speaker 1>there's no reason it has to be that button is
<v Speaker 1>probably probably what he's thinking. And I'm sitting over here like, dude,
<v Speaker 1>you're the reason I play inverted. You have messed me
<v Speaker 1>up so many times in my life with your control schemes.
<v Speaker 1>So you come in here and change it. Now. That said,
<v Speaker 1>I was happy to like relearn it. It took two minutes.
<v Speaker 1>That was good to go. But yeah, that just felt
<v Speaker 1>like a Miamoto move. And I'm glad that we got
<v Speaker 1>that confirmed. Let's do this confirmation. We weren't quite sure
<v Speaker 1>if this was real, but yesterday we saw Mortal Kombat
<v Speaker 1>Legacy Collection footage from their booth showing up that they
<v Speaker 1>were maybe adding sub Zero. You know, Mortal Kombat Mythology
<v Speaker 1>sub Zero as well as Mortal Kombat Special Forces. Well,
<v Speaker 1>both those games are indeed going to be in there,
<v Speaker 1>and That means the lowest rated Metacritics scores for Mortal
<v Speaker 1>Kombat game will be included in the Mortal Kombat Legacy collection,
<v Speaker 1>So there you go. That means there's gonna be quite
<v Speaker 1>a few real stinkers in this collection, which I love.
<v Speaker 1>So it'll be Mortal Kombat Mythology, sub Zero Special Forces,
<v Speaker 1>both games we played on Blake Club, but also Mortal
<v Speaker 1>Kombat for game Boy.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, which is a travesty, right, yes, yes, yeah, I
<v Speaker 2>and they're having online multiplayer in that right brev.
<v Speaker 1>We should definitely have a tournament in that version specifically, Yeah,
<v Speaker 1>maybe that could be the like maybe a Blake Club
<v Speaker 1>fighting tournament. I think Mike wanted to do that and
<v Speaker 1>call it Blake for Ever. Yeah. Oh that's good.
<v Speaker 2>I was gonna say we should challenge kind of funny
<v Speaker 2>to game Boy Moral Combat.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, there we go. Okay, I love it. Elden ring
<v Speaker 1>on switch To drops to fifteen frames per second in
<v Speaker 1>handheld mode. It is claimed there was a bunch of
<v Speaker 1>people who have gotten their hands on Elden ring On
<v Speaker 1>the switch To in Germany for games Com. Jordan Midler
<v Speaker 1>has collated some of these people's hands on takes into
<v Speaker 1>the story, and some people are saying it's really bad,
<v Speaker 1>and I understand why they don't want you to see
<v Speaker 1>this because they are not letting people shoot footage over
<v Speaker 1>the shoulder or anything like that. He said it was
<v Speaker 1>like playing ockery enough time, twenty frames per second. Sometimes
<v Speaker 1>it was like fifteen frames per second. This is discouraging
<v Speaker 1>and that's how a lot of people are describing it
<v Speaker 1>jam because the game it ran okay for me on
<v Speaker 1>the Steam Deck. I was able to get it down
<v Speaker 1>to get it to a relatively smooth thirty frames per second.
<v Speaker 1>And then it also had the advantage of on the
<v Speaker 1>Steam Deck they pre cashed the shaders, so it actually
<v Speaker 1>had few few, like less hitching than it did on
<v Speaker 1>some of the consoles. The game also doesn't run perfectly,
<v Speaker 1>but it runs better than this on PS four and
<v Speaker 1>even Xbox One, I think, and remember that game came
<v Speaker 1>out on those consoles, So why is it running so
<v Speaker 1>poorly on a system that does have a much better GPU?
<v Speaker 1>Now the game the system doesn't have much better CPU,
<v Speaker 1>but it does have an equivalent CPU. So I think
<v Speaker 1>a lot of people are just hoping this is an
<v Speaker 1>early build, an unfinished build. They haven't done the optimization.
<v Speaker 1>I think that's probably likely, but still they're showing this
<v Speaker 1>off and the game's coming out, and I just, you know,
<v Speaker 1>I was kind of hoping it would be in a
<v Speaker 1>better state than this at this point, Jam, what do
<v Speaker 1>you think.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, it's disappointing because Greb, you know, we see Yakuza
<v Speaker 2>Zero performing well, Cyberpunk performing decently enough. Yeah, so you
<v Speaker 2>would hope that a big developer like Frumsoft would be
<v Speaker 2>able to get the game up and running in a
<v Speaker 2>workable state at least, especially if you're going to be
<v Speaker 2>doing a public demo. I'm hoping this is just an
<v Speaker 2>instance of, like, all right, just give them a couple
<v Speaker 2>of weeks two months to iron out the kinks and
<v Speaker 2>then will get a smoother performance. This also kind of
<v Speaker 2>worries me of that switch to exclusive frum Soft game.
<v Speaker 1>I'm for Dust Bloods.
<v Speaker 2>Dust Bloods. Yes, So I don't know if this is
<v Speaker 2>like a valid reason to worry for performance of that game,
<v Speaker 2>but color me worried, Grub, I think.
<v Speaker 1>It's a little bit of a reason to worry. The
<v Speaker 1>reality is Frumsoft's not actually all that technically proficient, Like
<v Speaker 1>they're a studio that does struggle with tech, especially porting
<v Speaker 1>games to other platforms that you know, it got ported
<v Speaker 1>to PC at launch Eldon Ring, and then they did
<v Speaker 1>not update it on PC. I remember like what like
<v Speaker 1>keeping an eye on this. They didn't update that version
<v Speaker 1>of the game for a couple of months. I think
<v Speaker 1>it was like two months, and there was like you know,
<v Speaker 1>other games get updates every couple of days, and they
<v Speaker 1>were just taking their sweet time, and there was a
<v Speaker 1>lot of stuff that needed to be updated. There was
<v Speaker 1>that hitching issue with those shaders and stuff like that.
<v Speaker 1>It just turns out they're just not very good at that.
<v Speaker 1>They're very good at a lot of other things. This
<v Speaker 1>stuff is not their forte. So there is a chance
<v Speaker 1>this game is going to come out and just be
<v Speaker 1>what it is because Frumsoft just couldn't figure it out.
<v Speaker 1>And you know, okay, then I'll just play out and
<v Speaker 1>drink somewhere else if that's the case. But I was
<v Speaker 1>kind of ready to check this game out one more
<v Speaker 1>time and using the switch to as an excuse to
<v Speaker 1>do that was going to be what I was gonna do.
<v Speaker 1>And now it's like, eh, maybe that's not it, that's
<v Speaker 1>not the move, all right, last story here. Analog three
<v Speaker 1>D delayed again. They said it's ninety nine percent finished,
<v Speaker 1>but it got pushed back. Regardless, This is tremarcus person
<v Speaker 1>at Game Reactor. Analog has once again been forced to
<v Speaker 1>delay it's upcoming Nintendo sixty four FPGA console. That if
<v Speaker 1>it's if you're like, wait, wasn't that supposed to be out? Yeah,
<v Speaker 1>it was basically supposed to be shipping right now, and
<v Speaker 1>they are pulling out on that. Analog has been moving
<v Speaker 1>at maximum pace processing shipping to everyone who has been
<v Speaker 1>patiently waiting. Unexpected uncommon issues are rare, especially in a
<v Speaker 1>neg negligible degree under esoteric circumstances. Why are they talking
<v Speaker 1>this way? We're ensuring every detail meets our standard. Nonetheless,
<v Speaker 1>we know this sucks. Another delay announced late after months
<v Speaker 1>of patients. We feel it too. Analog three D has
<v Speaker 1>been in development for four years. Obsessively, it's at ninety
<v Speaker 1>nine percent hardware, system packaging, The full kit has been
<v Speaker 1>set for months. The last one percent is where we
<v Speaker 1>are focused. This has moved our shipping date to Q
<v Speaker 1>four now. They did say that Q four is set conservatively.
<v Speaker 1>They're like, intentionally setting this conservatively because maybe there's a
<v Speaker 1>chance it will actually ship a little bit before that,
<v Speaker 1>but they don't want anyone get their hopes up, So
<v Speaker 1>don't get your hopes up based on them saying they
<v Speaker 1>set a conservative conservative date, conservative date. Maybe they actually
<v Speaker 1>will end up taking all that time because they've given
<v Speaker 1>it themselves it, so we'll see. I have been I've
<v Speaker 1>paid for this thing. I've been waiting for it. I
<v Speaker 1>really want to get my hands on it. But at
<v Speaker 1>a certain point, this is also entered into that oh whatever,
<v Speaker 1>is this even real territory? And I'll just get it
<v Speaker 1>at my house one day and then we'll talk about it.
<v Speaker 2>At that point, have you been charged already? Grub?
<v Speaker 1>I think so. I think so. Yes, I guess I
<v Speaker 1>can't remember it was forever ago. Yeah, that's real. That's
<v Speaker 1>that part's definitely real. I also bought that that PlayStation
<v Speaker 1>FPGA and forgot about that. Apparently that's going to show
<v Speaker 1>up here pretty soon, so we'll see. Okay, that does
<v Speaker 1>it for the headlines. Let's get to the poll question.
<v Speaker 1>We have this one from yesterday's show. Let me get
<v Speaker 1>the results all refreshed here. That's right, grade games Colm
<v Speaker 1>Opening Night Live, ABC D or lower. I gave it
<v Speaker 1>a D plus when I originally gave my grade at
<v Speaker 1>the end. I like, once I'm out of it, it's
<v Speaker 1>a little bit easier to be kinder. So I ended
<v Speaker 1>up going with a C. And that's what most people
<v Speaker 1>ended up doing as well. Forty five percent gave it
<v Speaker 1>a C, twenty nine percent gave it a D or lower,
<v Speaker 1>twenty three percent gave it a B, and three percent
<v Speaker 1>gave it an A. So no one was too thrilled
<v Speaker 1>with this show, but some people did find something redeeming
<v Speaker 1>gave it a B. I bet those are the people
<v Speaker 1>that were really into that Batman game. That seemed to
<v Speaker 1>do it for a lot of people.
<v Speaker 2>Jan, Yes, that seemed to do it. Also, obs y,
<v Speaker 2>you gotta do me like this anyway?
<v Speaker 1>Is it breaking on us?
<v Speaker 2>No? No, No, it's fine, it's fine. Yeah. I even
<v Speaker 2>with some time remove grub, I still think I'm hovering
<v Speaker 2>around a C minus or a D.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah. I'm definitely like it wouldn't go higher than a
<v Speaker 1>C minus, Like, yeah, that's C minus D plus in
<v Speaker 1>that range. It just they didn't do a good job
<v Speaker 1>of presenting what they did have, and there were some
<v Speaker 1>games in there that I will be interested in for
<v Speaker 1>sure as we get closer to them and or get
<v Speaker 1>a chance to actually play them. But what they did have,
<v Speaker 1>I just wasn't thrilled with the packaging. And they're making us.
<v Speaker 1>I'm not making us, but they want people to sit
<v Speaker 1>down and watch the thing for two hours, and it's like,
<v Speaker 1>you're gonna ask for that time, you really got to deliver,
<v Speaker 1>and it just didn't for the most part.
<v Speaker 2>I also don't know how do you ride the line
<v Speaker 2>grub and satisfy all the masters here of like the
<v Speaker 2>people at home watching and maintaining their hype, but also
<v Speaker 2>maintaining you know, the folks that have bought time to
<v Speaker 2>be on the show, and how do you properly satisfy
<v Speaker 2>and satiate them because a lot of money is being
<v Speaker 2>exchanged grub and you know you want to do right
<v Speaker 2>by them as well, But also how does that lead
<v Speaker 2>to maintaining a two hour plus show sometimes, especially with
<v Speaker 2>gamers being as hyper specific with their needs as they are.
<v Speaker 1>Yep, yeah, people are giving an a to the pre
<v Speaker 1>show and it's like, yeah, I don't know, could you
<v Speaker 1>keep those vibes the whole time? But the free show
<v Speaker 1>was great because the games in it were great. I
<v Speaker 1>think that's just it's weird that a lot of those
<v Speaker 1>games weren't in the main show, but maybe they're great
<v Speaker 1>because they're from smaller teams doing fun stuff and they
<v Speaker 1>can't afford to be on the main show. All Right,
<v Speaker 1>we got a new pool question. We'll get to that
<v Speaker 1>right now. Where do you want to go next? In
<v Speaker 1>Horizon Japan or somewhere else? Jane? Should we throw another
<v Speaker 1>cu tree in there? You want to throw a Southeast
<v Speaker 1>Asia and there's an.
<v Speaker 2>Option, let's throw Let's just throw in all of Southeast Asia?
<v Speaker 1>Okay, so yeah, we just do see all right, so
<v Speaker 1>your fan see somewhere else, will get the results of this.
<v Speaker 1>Talk about it on Game this Morning's tomorrow here on
<v Speaker 1>Giant Bomb. Speaking a Giant Bomb, we are gonna play
<v Speaker 1>a business, right Jan, So what's that happening? I letna
<v Speaker 1>check the calendar.
<v Speaker 2>A business is supposed to be right now after this,
<v Speaker 2>so maybe we're there we go. We're gonna take some
<v Speaker 2>time to gear up and get everything up and running.
<v Speaker 2>I also got a nuke this vod. But if you're
<v Speaker 2>listening to the podcast, everything's fine. Nothing happened, huh. As well?
<v Speaker 2>Later today Grub we have an episode of voicemail dump
<v Speaker 2>Truck with Danny Oh Dwyer. Very excited to hang with
<v Speaker 2>Danny for a bit. Also grub Earlier this week, I
<v Speaker 2>was out on assignment. I got time to check out
<v Speaker 2>hands on, time to check out Resident Evil, Requiem Onio,
<v Speaker 2>Musha game, and Pragmata Grub. Pragmata real quick, extremely my shit.
<v Speaker 1>It it's fun. I enjoyed it as well. I thought
<v Speaker 1>it was a lot of fun to play.
<v Speaker 2>I was also really really bad at reck Quim because
<v Speaker 2>I was really really scared.
<v Speaker 1>It seems spooky. Yeah, I get it all right. So
<v Speaker 1>that's the rest of the today. Everyone should tune in
<v Speaker 1>for all of that. In the meantime, let's see, we
<v Speaker 1>did the new poll question. We'll be back with more
<v Speaker 1>stuff tomorrow. I think at this point I'm just say Jan,
<v Speaker 1>thank you so much for hanging out with me today
<v Speaker 1>and talking about video games. Man, I really appreciate it.
<v Speaker 2>It's the only way to start a Thursday Grub.
<v Speaker 1>Thank you all for watching and listening. You are the
<v Speaker 1>best audience in gaming. Until next time, have a good one,
<v Speaker 1>take care of yourself, and goodbye.
<v Speaker 2>MOBOs.
