Hey, great news, Todd's microphone doesn't work. 00:00:34 Speaker 3: Yeah, and we're high. Welcome to the show. Already in progress here. We will get phone calls coming up. Yeah, we have a pole question seat and I'll come up with that. 00:01:40 Speaker 5: Yes, Paulin it was like a pit crew coming in there to change Todd's mike. 00:01:43 Speaker 3: Yeah, okay, so uh, Steve Young a little later on today, mad Dog, Frank Kelli, Endo. 00:01:51 Speaker 2: And Ross Tucker will join us. 00:01:53 Speaker 4: Coming up. 00:01:53 Speaker 3: It's a meat Tuesday every day courtesy of Heartland State Company. So we have dill crusted salmon. We have American pork shops. We have Iowa pork shops. Who has it better than we do? Righty, Iowa. This is the second best crowd we've had this week so far. Right now, round of applause for the that get the best. 00:02:19 Speaker 6: Make it make it up to the first best crowd. Yeah, depending on how it goes today. 00:02:23 Speaker 3: Yeah, if you'd like to join us here, you can first come, first serve as far as seats at the China Basin Park and right here in the shadows, I got McCovey cove right over my left shoulder. We got the ballpark here, the Willie McCovey statue. We had the CEO, the President, Larry Barr yesterday talking about the Barry Bonds statue that they've yet to I guess commission or where it's going to be. Jeff Kent gets a statue, Buster Posey will be a Hall of Famer. He gets a statue. Now, PAULI has an idea for the Barry Bonds statue. Now you want to review this? Yeah, okay, are you being serious about where they could put the Bond's statue? 00:03:06 Speaker 5: I'd say ten percent serious, ninety percent joke. Barry Bonds made McCovey Cove. He parked him in McCovey Cove all the time, the search of McCovey Cove. Can you build a water based statue that pops up like a fountain during home games? That Barry Bond statue would be in McCovey Cove. If you look, it'd be a great spot. 00:03:26 Speaker 2: Okay, But do you have to hit a home run for the Bond's statue to come up? 00:03:31 Speaker 5: That's a bonus idea. 00:03:32 Speaker 3: Yeah, but I don't know if the Giants have any left handed hitters who were going to be hitting into McCovey. 00:03:36 Speaker 5: Cove affect how they attract free agents, Like it. 00:03:39 Speaker 3: Would come up and there'd be all kinds of algae on it and seaweed and because it hadn't been up there in a while. 00:03:45 Speaker 7: Yes, Tom, But just for the record, it's not clear where they're gonna put it. 00:03:48 Speaker 2: Wow, Wow, you really got a cream one to. 00:03:51 Speaker 5: Get it out of here. I don't think they're gonna do the water based stay. 00:03:58 Speaker 2: I don't think so either. But where would you put it? 00:04:01 Speaker 3: Because McCovey Cove is on the other side of McCovey Cove, so that's over where we are. Then you have Juan Maershall, you have Willie Mays, you have mccobby, and then you're gonna have Buster Posey, Buster Posey a catcher, So you would kind of do you want that in conjunction with home plate somewhere outside the stadium. But you know there's a whole walkway around this stadium of where you could put statues there. This is gonna be like you're in Italy with all. 00:04:31 Speaker 2: The statues walking through Floriendayah. 00:04:34 Speaker 3: Well, they're not going to be nude, but they're going to have quite a few statues here. Well, the CEO said, if you make the Hall of Fame, you get a statue. Yeah, Paul, how. 00:04:43 Speaker 5: About some type of activity out here? Remember they played during the two World Series when JT. Snow scooped up Baron Baker, the son of Dusty Baker home blate keep him from being run over. What about an interactive activity out front where you could scoop up Dusty Baker's kid, Ai based not the actual child. 00:04:59 Speaker 2: Okay, work on that one as well. 00:05:01 Speaker 3: Yeah, workshop, all right, Seaton poll question for the first hour this Tuesday program. 00:05:06 Speaker 2: Robert Craft is not a Hall of Famer because. 00:05:09 Speaker 6: Dot dot dot dot stinkin dot huh. 00:05:14 Speaker 2: Okay, who made the Hall of Fame? 00:05:17 Speaker 3: I get no body because now they've told me. Okay, if the goal was to get these other candidates in, Okay, mission accomplished. You got Belichick and Craft out of the way. Now, Kenny Anderson, ELC Greenwoater, Roger Craig should get into the Hall of Fame. Adam Schefter reported Robert Craft did not get the eighty percent total to make the Hall of Fame, So who got in? Because my only issue is if everybody had this altruistic motive in mind to get the other guys in, because Craft and Belichick are are eventually going to get in. I hope that at least two get in. But you still have to get eighty percent of the vote. That's the problem I have with this. It's not like, hey, we didn't vote for Belichick, we didn't vote for Robert Kraft. Okay, are two of these guys get in? That would be great. I just worry it'd be like all of this and nobody got in. 00:06:17 Speaker 2: Yes, PAULI. 00:06:19 Speaker 5: I brought this up the other day, and I think I don't like to use the word conspiracy, but for Kraft and Belichick to both not get in feels like maybe a group of guys got together and had a chat before they walked in the room to vote. 00:06:31 Speaker 2: See, I don't know if they can do anything together. 00:06:34 Speaker 5: That you don't remember. I think it was ten people had to not vote for Belichick and eleven didn't. That seems awful coincidental, you know, because it's nine he's in, and. 00:06:44 Speaker 3: But I don't know what if it's the same number for Craft as it is for Belichick, then we might have one of them. 00:06:51 Speaker 6: Conspiracy theory, you know, it's not so much that I didn't vote for him, It's that I did vote for someone else. 00:06:58 Speaker 3: This is seating with his universal voice for the media voting on I don't. 00:07:04 Speaker 2: Have a problem with the Patriots. I'm not making it about them. 00:07:06 Speaker 6: It's just it was time for these other people against So it's not so much that I didn't vote for them, it's that I did vote for. 00:07:12 Speaker 2: These other people. 00:07:14 Speaker 4: I know, I know, I know. 00:07:16 Speaker 3: It still comes back to this is your job. Your job is hey Hall of Famer yay or nay? 00:07:24 Speaker 8: Not? 00:07:25 Speaker 4: You know he cheated. 00:07:26 Speaker 6: I'll get back to you next year. On this, Robert Kraft and Bill Belichick didn't get in. 00:07:31 Speaker 4: I know. 00:07:31 Speaker 2: That is crazy. Yeah, I know, I know. 00:07:34 Speaker 3: Doesn't it feel like the NFL was split in two camps, that you have the Jerry Jones side of this and the Robert Craft side of this, and Jerry Jones is actually winning something. That's what it feels like with Robert Kraft. Yes, Marvin, that's the only thing he's been winning. 00:07:50 Speaker 2: Oh Okay, I see what jailed there. 00:07:52 Speaker 6: Yeah, you got him, nailed it, You showed him he's a billionaire. 00:07:57 Speaker 2: Yeah. 00:07:59 Speaker 3: But we're all so kind of making it seem like these guys are gonna live forever. You know, Robert Craft will eventually get in eventually, like you want to get in while you're alive, you know. I'm just saying, it's like, oh man, sorry about that. 00:08:12 Speaker 6: Are we going to get to a point where Robert Craft and Built Belichick are like, we gotta get these guys in. 00:08:17 Speaker 2: We got to get him in. 00:08:18 Speaker 3: So sorry, okay, But if you aren't voting for Barry Bonds because he cheated, then you continue to not vote for Barry Bonds. That's what Hall of Fame voters have done. If you're not voting for Robert Kraft for cheating or being a part of an organization or Bill Belichick, then continue to vote that way. What would change? We cheated, Well, we showed him. We didn't let him in the first time. 00:08:41 Speaker 4: Yeah. 00:08:41 Speaker 6: See, it does feel like the possibility is there that people are using the rules of Hall of Fame voting to hide behind not wanting to vote. 00:08:52 Speaker 2: For these people. 00:08:53 Speaker 4: Yeah. 00:08:53 Speaker 6: Hey, it's not me, it's the process. It's really just the process. So I would have voted for him if we could have gotten more. 00:08:59 Speaker 2: In, but it's the process. Yeah, I can't. 00:09:01 Speaker 5: Yeah, Well, going back to Barry bonds. He in his first year of eligibility, he got thirty six percent of the vote. Every single year it went up. In his final year he got sixty six percent of the vote. Did not get in, but it almost doubled over a ten year period. 00:09:16 Speaker 3: You have a whole new wave of voters on the Hall of Fame, and I think you're probably they're probably more lenient. It feels that way about steroids. I don't buy into this what Larry Bear, the CEO said yesterday, Well, he was a Hall of Famer before you know he got here, Yes, but then he cheated after he got here. That you can't have both of those together. You know, it's it's rum and coke. It goes together there. It's not well, you know the rum that was there and then we had to sprinkle in something else there and that tainted the drink here. 00:09:51 Speaker 9: Yes, Marmon doesn't immediate vote on on MVP. Also for the league, you mean, yeah, for like the MV. They voted him MVP four straight years when his arms were popping out of his jersey and his head size changed, and now all of a sudden, you want to give your moral high horse to say, oh, you know, what I know. I've voted for for MVP four straight years, but now the Hall of Fame comes up, and now I don't want to because I guess I'm wanting some more high ground. 00:10:16 Speaker 2: Yeah no, that's a fair point there, yes, Todd. 00:10:18 Speaker 7: And then this the whole steroids don't have anything to do with hand eye coordination. 00:10:22 Speaker 2: You still have to be able to hit them all. 00:10:23 Speaker 7: Maybe you wouldn't have hit a seven hundred. 00:10:25 Speaker 3: Feet but still, all I know is you look look at the numbers and this is in a left handed hitting friendly ballpark here, and what he did with now, it's amazing what he did. 00:10:38 Speaker 2: That's you kind. 00:10:39 Speaker 3: Of look at Lamb's armstrong and you go, man, those steroids they work. As a former player told me one time he got popped for steroids, and I said, you know, how did you feel he goes steroids work man? And I go, yeah, I get it if you're willing to cheat. And they always say, well, I was just trying to get back injury, trying to help my teammates, Like oh okay, hey, oh that's a good excuse. Like Andy Pettitt always, hey, I'm just trying to help my team, and he'll probably get into the Hall of Fame one day. 00:11:12 Speaker 5: Yeah, Paul, I love going back to look at Barrybonds stats with a five year run in San Francisco. It's really akin to a running back running for three thousand yards while others are running for fifteen hundred. He had a season at his at thirty nine years old. Yeah, he hit three sixty two to lead the league. He hit forty five homers. Oh well, that's not that much. He was walked two hundred and thirty two times, by far, the most in history. They took his bat away one third of the time and he still hit forty five homers. 00:11:41 Speaker 3: Yeah, it's freaky. Well, he had a career resurgence, that's what it was. But it was based off of Mark McGuire and Sammy So said they were the sportsmen of the year. They were the big thing in baseball cover of Sports Illustrated and Bonds looking at that, going, are you kidding me? Those guys aren't anywhere Neil near how great I am. So he went out and proved that, and boy did see he did too much. You know, it's like sometimes you get artificially enhanced, and uh, he got artificially enhanced, and uh, that's that's a problem because then you start to notice, you know, these guys used to wear their uniforms and they'd be really tight, snug. Oh, look at that, they're fit. And then all of a sudden you get Manny Ramirez and some of these other guys that look like it was their older brother's uniform that they were putting on. 00:12:33 Speaker 10: Yeah, pay Bonds needed p the alte Okay, all right, all right, Uh we're gonna be good once this show starts this morning. 00:12:44 Speaker 2: How you feeling, Todd? 00:12:45 Speaker 7: I feel good. I think every time Bonds got up, they should have allowed the picture to scuff the ball, put any kind of ointment or whatever they wanted to put on the ball for every Bond at that then you don't have to keep walking ointments, anything, and everything goes. If he's gonna do what he's doing, then the picture ship be able. 00:13:03 Speaker 5: To do what he was doing. 00:13:04 Speaker 2: All right, thank you, Tod, welcome. 00:13:05 Speaker 3: Look, Uh let's see ointment we're gonna. 00:13:13 Speaker 2: It wouldn't have mattered some lighter. 00:13:16 Speaker 7: Can like the old Mike Scott days of the idiots, that little little scuff kind of thing where the thing's wiggling, where the mets couldn't remember. 00:13:22 Speaker 3: The Mets called him Mike's scuff because those baseballs. I remember seeing one of those because they collect him, and I was like, damn, how were they letting this happen. 00:13:32 Speaker 7: They turned their heads to the bats and look at the whole plate up like, did you see that? There's no way a ball doesn't. 00:13:35 Speaker 3: That Yeah, if you're watching on Peacock, that's Todd taking BP. Oh look at that cut that was That was Bond's life focus. 00:13:43 Speaker 7: Look at that weird facial explosion. 00:13:45 Speaker 3: Oh man, you don't want you can't get a fastball by that guy. 00:13:49 Speaker 2: Look at that. 00:13:51 Speaker 5: He makes faces like John Mayer playing guitar. 00:13:54 Speaker 3: Oh, look at that rip. That was a couple of years ago at the super Bow. Of course you got hurt, uh Seeton, you got a poll question, Ross Tucker said to join us. Although you made contact, I mean that they were throwing it around ninety miles. 00:14:11 Speaker 7: A time, all staring, Little League were all they got it round. 00:14:14 Speaker 4: Oh I know that. 00:14:15 Speaker 3: No, I I can't forget it. I've tried to, but I can't reminding me. 00:14:20 Speaker 2: Yeah, uh, you got a pull question. Face looks like he's being like his limbs are being torn on. It's like he's delivering a baby. 00:14:27 Speaker 6: Let's see, I'm gonna throw a couple of them up. There is there an anti patriots bias in this year's Hall of Fame? 00:14:32 Speaker 2: Voting yes or no? 00:14:33 Speaker 6: Should there be anti patriots bias in this year's Hall of Fame? 00:14:37 Speaker 2: Voting yes or no? 00:14:38 Speaker 6: Also, I feel like when you look at our guests lining up today, they're all it's those are big personalities. 00:14:44 Speaker 2: We got a lot of characters. 00:14:45 Speaker 6: The biggest character on today's show Ross Talker, Christopher mad Dog, Luto, Frank Kelly Endo, and Steve Young. 00:14:51 Speaker 2: Okay, maybe it's a who would you want to have a beer with? Well, Steve doesn't drink. Yeah, Well, who would you want to have have coffee with? 00:15:01 Speaker 4: I don't know. 00:15:02 Speaker 3: Frank Klaedendo drinks either. When he's gone to dinner with us, he usually has like a diet soda. 00:15:08 Speaker 6: A great dinner guy, though, yea dinner all right, best dinner guest, best dinner. 00:15:13 Speaker 2: I'm gonna say, Ross Tucker, Yeah he is. He's the good. That's what I'm hanging with. Food's gonna be good. 00:15:18 Speaker 4: Yeah? 00:15:19 Speaker 2: Have uh you know he's a great storyteller. 00:15:21 Speaker 7: Yes, does Frank know went to turn it off, and then we had dessert thing. 00:15:27 Speaker 3: Okay, that's you saying, when does Frank know when to turn it off? 00:15:31 Speaker 7: That is the pot called the kettle. And then they brought the salad for free. 00:15:38 Speaker 2: I know, no, no, it's not bad. It's not bad. 00:15:40 Speaker 3: But you're right when you're when you're having a conversation, Frank Kelly Endo will go into a voice and then you know that it's going to be about a five minute. 00:15:52 Speaker 2: Yeah, I'll just give you the salt. 00:15:54 Speaker 7: That's an appetizer. That's spider too wide appetite. 00:15:58 Speaker 2: And then you say, Frank, you want to order something. 00:16:01 Speaker 3: He gives you the Gruden stare and you're like, easy, here, you know we got an You had. 00:16:06 Speaker 2: This cheese gig man. Man, it is really good. Is Frank hoping? 00:16:11 Speaker 3: Like it's better for Frank Caliendo if John Gruden gets another job like that, because you know some of his impersonations. You know, these guys are older, are no longer with us. 00:16:22 Speaker 6: He does a romo, He does a strong romo. Right, I don't think his romo is better than yours. 00:16:32 Speaker 4: What would you do? 00:16:36 Speaker 2: I like that the analyst is asking Jim Nance. 00:16:39 Speaker 3: I don't know Jim what would you do, Tony. You're the analyst, You're you're the one that played. You're making eighteen million dollars a year. Make something up. 00:16:50 Speaker 9: Okay, let me take a break here by the way, make something up. 00:16:57 Speaker 3: Let's take a break. We'll talk to Ross Tucker, Steve Young a little later on. I think this is the first time Mad Dog Russo will be on set with it, right, yeah, and take a job out of you that you know that. Frank Kaladendo will join us as well. And should there be anti Patriots bias in this series Qual Fame voting? 00:18:38 Speaker 2: All right, Todd, do you have a couple of suggestions before we get to. 00:18:42 Speaker 4: Write I do. 00:18:43 Speaker 7: One was, if you're not a fan of the Seahawks of Patriots, how pumped are you about this Super Bowl? Very slightly? I'll watch, but with no measurable enthusiasm. 00:18:52 Speaker 2: Okay. 00:18:53 Speaker 7: Another onse, when a TV ad is beyond annoying, the advertiser created it that way because they hope you'll talk to others about just how irritating it is, which helps spread the word about the product. Pauli's mentioned that a number of times in the past on the show. Or they're just bad at making commercials. 00:19:06 Speaker 2: Okay, bad Bunny is bad? 00:19:10 Speaker 7: Actually good Bunny? 00:19:11 Speaker 4: What a talent? 00:19:13 Speaker 5: Todd? 00:19:13 Speaker 2: How pumped are you for anything? Generally in life? Those are three very negative poll questions. 00:19:17 Speaker 7: They are They're all snarkly negative, so I can tell them. 00:19:19 Speaker 2: I'm sure they get more positive from here. 00:19:21 Speaker 7: When in a new city, is it lame to dine at a chain restaurant that's right on mine out? What do you think? Yeah, it's the lame. No, each way you like others should mind their business and not be so judgy. 00:19:31 Speaker 2: Okay, what is. 00:19:33 Speaker 7: A reasonable daily tip for those who clean your hotel room? There's a tricky one. Five to ten bucks, ten to fifteen, fifteen to twenty. 00:19:40 Speaker 5: Oops, you're supposed. 00:19:41 Speaker 2: To tip it. There's no way you tip. 00:19:44 Speaker 4: Are used to you? 00:19:46 Speaker 7: I did to tip, you gave it up. I decided I'd rather just kind of lay and filter for a week. But they do not disturb start, so I don't have to worry about the distress of how much to have to pay because they didn't come to my room, so there's no guilt about no tip. 00:19:57 Speaker 2: How dirty do you get on a daily basis that you're laying in film? 00:20:00 Speaker 7: I exaggerate a little bit, but you know, at some point, if it's thanks somewhere for a week, we should probably have them, you know, turned down to bed. And then the last one is at what price is a nightly rate to valley? Your car at a hotel will come up notxiously expensive. I'm not going to name any hotels over twenty five bucks, over fifty, over seventy five. I will only stay at hotels with free party. 00:20:19 Speaker 2: Thank you, Tom, back to you. 00:20:20 Speaker 3: He is Ross Tucker CBS Sports Westwood One, NFL CBS analyst and a contributor to the show all year round. He hosts the Ross Tucker Football Podcast. Follow him on social media at Ross Tucker NFL. Ross will be the color analyst on Talk Sport UK Radio super Bowl sixty. Yeah Ross Tucker, look at that. Yeah, nobody loves Princeton football quite like you do. 00:20:53 Speaker 8: Uh, it's mainly a branding thing. I think we've talked about this. But if you can't be as funny as Frank Caliendo or as good at football as Steve Young or as successful on the radio as Mad Dog. 00:21:07 Speaker 4: You might as well have something going for you. 00:21:08 Speaker 2: So that's it. 00:21:09 Speaker 4: The I'm the former Princeton guy. 00:21:12 Speaker 8: That's not like if you said something to people like who's Ross Tucker, that's what they'll remember. They'll be like, oh, yeah, that's the guy that fills in for Dan Patrick. Sometimes. I like him on Westwood One. Pretty Harvard guy. 00:21:24 Speaker 2: Right, Ivy League, How did you do on the Wonder Lick? 00:21:31 Speaker 4: Pretty well? Yeah? In fact, I remember talking with my agent about this. 00:21:37 Speaker 8: He said, do well, but don't do too well because they can almost hold it against you if you're if you know, they want you to be a smart football player. 00:21:48 Speaker 4: They don't want you to think you're smarter than they are. 00:21:50 Speaker 2: Okay, you know, well that's like a real thing. 00:21:53 Speaker 4: That's Fitzpatrick. 00:21:54 Speaker 2: No, he's talked about that. 00:21:55 Speaker 3: Ryan Fitzpatrick did say, you know, you don't want somebody who's smarter than the offensive coordinator if you're the quarterback of the team or the head coach. 00:22:03 Speaker 8: Right, But I always think that that's flawed, like just because I mean, I'm pretty confident Dan I was smarter than most of the offensive line coaches I had, but that didn't mean I went over the authority. You know, there's a chain of command there. And just because you know, maybe I had different opinions or thought differently. I was never in a position where I was saying, well, actually, coach, we should do this, like that doesn't work that way. 00:22:29 Speaker 3: Could you have been the next Larry Allen? But you dumbed yourself down so you wouldn't be great. 00:22:35 Speaker 8: No, But I was telling I met a Cowboys fan last night and I was telling him this story. I don't know why they did this, but I started the last seven games left guard for the Cowboys in two thousand and two. 00:22:46 Speaker 7: So you're next to No. 00:22:47 Speaker 4: Larry was hurt. This is when they had moved Larry to left guard. So Larry was hurt and he was questionable. 00:22:54 Speaker 8: For some reason, they wanted to keep playing games, so he was questioning the first three or four weeks, Dan, you have never seen people so happy to see me as the d lineman every week. I mean, it was not good for Mike Carlvince, like, oh, tell, thank god, it's got it dude. 00:23:09 Speaker 4: Come on, like I'm going we're competing against each other today, don't like. 00:23:13 Speaker 3: And you could make a case Larry Allen is the greatest offensive lineman in history. 00:23:18 Speaker 8: You can I I would say, I can't think off the top of my head of a more powerful or physically dominant offensive lineman. I don't know if he had the long term consistency of an Anthony Munos or some of these other guys, but man, Dan, he did stuff to guys in the NFL that we all did this guys in high school. 00:23:46 Speaker 4: You know, like in high. 00:23:47 Speaker 8: School you could like get under eath the guy and drive them and dumble them on the ground. That just doesn't happen in the NFL. I mean almost never, because those guys are so good. He did that consistently. 00:23:59 Speaker 4: Now. 00:23:59 Speaker 8: He also there's a little bit of a home run hitter, like you could miss sometimes, but it was worth it to him to try to hit one out of the park. By the way, is unbelieve when I got here, I thought they painted this Dan Pastrick on. 00:24:13 Speaker 3: You thought that was permanent, no wonder, Like yeah, that's yeah, you're right, holding yeah, and you did well in the wonder Like huh. 00:24:23 Speaker 2: Cam fool you? 00:24:24 Speaker 3: Okay, do you think there's a patriot bias this year with the voters. 00:24:30 Speaker 4: I think two things. 00:24:31 Speaker 8: I think, on some level, I'm sure that there are some voters that are holding the cheating scandals against them. But I really do think the more people I talk to about this, it feels like a flawed process. You know, if you're someone that's been part of the Hall of Fame for twenty years, thirty years, you have fought so hard to get guys like Kenny Anderson and I else see Greenwood from the seventies on the ballot, to give them a chance to get in. Right, they're finally there, and then how do you decide, Am I gonna vote for Kenny Anderson, who was really productive for the Bengals in the seventies and early eighties, or the owner for the Patriots or the coach for the Patriots. 00:25:19 Speaker 4: I'm not sure. 00:25:20 Speaker 8: I think they were well intentioned doing it this way, the way they used to do it, where it was like two seniors guys and then they would alternate contributor one year coach, the next contributor one year coach NXT. 00:25:32 Speaker 4: If they kept the old process. 00:25:35 Speaker 8: Belichick would have gotten in the first time he was the coach, and Kraft, I think would have gotten in the first time he was a contributor. But now that it's this convoluted system where you're comparing them, these players, this is the only chance these players have, you know, this is the only and by the way, it makes me. 00:25:50 Speaker 4: Think we're here in San Francisco. Is it not weird? 00:25:52 Speaker 8: I got a potential poll question for you guys. Is it not weird that in almost forty years no other player has tried to run the ball like Roger Craig did. Remember Dan like the high knees and he would like me, guys in the chin? How was it he might get in the Hall of Fame this year and for forty years nobody else even tried that. 00:26:14 Speaker 4: Isn't that weird? Yeah? 00:26:16 Speaker 2: But nobody runs like Eric Dickerson, It's true, or. 00:26:20 Speaker 8: On some level Shady McCoy or Le'Veon Bell. That might be the only position I can think of in the NFL where guys can truly have unique, distinctive styles that you can't look Barry Sanders, obviously, you can't really remember another guy doing it just the way they did. 00:26:39 Speaker 3: Ross Tucker on loan from CBS Westwood One and part of the Super Bowl sixty coverage in England on the radio in England. 00:26:48 Speaker 2: Now it is at they like. 00:26:50 Speaker 3: Scotland and Ireland and England Wales like, how big are you going to be? 00:26:56 Speaker 4: Well, it's the entire UK? Wow? 00:26:59 Speaker 8: So well, now would be a good time for me to have probably looked up what that exactly means. Okay, Fritzy, do you know who makes. 00:27:12 Speaker 4: Up the UK? What countries make up the UK? I die? 00:27:15 Speaker 7: I know England's involved. 00:27:16 Speaker 4: Okay, you got England, good. 00:27:19 Speaker 7: Scotland and oh I think Scotland a part of Ireland. 00:27:25 Speaker 5: And Northern Ireland can't leave. 00:27:27 Speaker 4: That's right. 00:27:28 Speaker 8: So I didn't know this, Dan, but evidently talk sport in the UK. It's not just like the west Would one, but because the UK geographic area is smaller, it's like the only sports talk radio over there. It's for the whole country. So it's basically the Dan Patrick Show and Westwood One combined into one. And uh, the two things I will Gavin, the play by play guy, the British guy with the beard on my show. The two things he said that I thought were interesting. Last year, they got over four million viewers for the Super Bowl. This is eleven thirty pm to three am, and well over one hundred thousand listeners because I'm thinking, I think I told you this last time. Who's listening on there? If you like the super Bowl? Who's this on a real two am? But it's like truck drivers, uber drivers, taxi all. 00:28:14 Speaker 4: Those kind of people. 00:28:15 Speaker 8: And last year was the second year in a row it was the number one sick day in the UK. And I don't know why I get like a sense of pride about that, but I love that the day after the American Super Bowl, the NFL Super Bowl is the number one sick day in the UK. They're learning, Dan, it's going to be big for your profile. Huge, Yeah, huge, that's going to be big. Maybe the King of England will be listening. 00:28:38 Speaker 4: Maybe I'll be knighted. 00:28:43 Speaker 2: Yes, Todd, are you. 00:28:44 Speaker 7: In chourage to speaking of British accent? Like oh, I say, oh Chap though it was quite the past round I have. 00:28:48 Speaker 4: My daughter was in Mary Poppins. I've been practicing it. 00:28:51 Speaker 8: I have the worst, Like I think it's kind of Australian when it comes out, I don't even know I. 00:28:56 Speaker 4: Have the worst. 00:28:57 Speaker 8: How about we don't go there? No, I'm not going to. He has enough British accent. The play by play guy for both, but he is electric and evidently I think you're gonna be able to stream our booth cam. So we got a lot going for us. Number one, it's gonna be dynamic number two. He might be the first play by play guy I've ever worked with that weighs more than me. 00:29:20 Speaker 4: Yeah. Yeah, he used to play O line D line over there. 00:29:23 Speaker 8: He's a lot of kilos. I don't know how many kilos, but he's a decent amount of kilos. 00:29:28 Speaker 2: Or is it stones? 00:29:30 Speaker 4: Yeah? 00:29:30 Speaker 2: What's the height the stones or I don't know what is stones? His hands as horses, right, that's like fifteen hands or something like that. Yeah, okay, the Drake May. 00:29:41 Speaker 5: You know Paul stones is equal to fourteen pounds here in the US. 00:29:46 Speaker 2: Okay, back to you. 00:29:47 Speaker 4: But where do they do stones? 00:29:49 Speaker 5: It's an old school measurements in the UK. 00:29:52 Speaker 2: Okay, there you go, the Drake May issue. 00:29:57 Speaker 3: I know that we're kind of looking for any kind of storylines and his shoulder and then all of a sudden he's getting healthier. I don't know if this is a big deal or not, or maybe we're making it a bigger deal because there's nothing else to really talk about that has to do with the game. 00:30:13 Speaker 4: I think it is a deal. 00:30:16 Speaker 8: I don't know if it's a big deal, although I was watching videos of him last night at Opening Night, and I was there, by the way, very interesting. By far, the most subdued Opening Night I've ever been to. And maybe it was because it's San Jose and most people were staying up here, but I would say half the attendance that it normally has. 00:30:35 Speaker 4: So I don't know how much. 00:30:36 Speaker 8: Of that is because of the San Jose or because maybe there's not quite as much buzz about the super Bowl. But if you watch the videos, okay, Drake May is like this talking with people, and his left arm is like really demonstrative, and he's not moving this an inch not an inch. 00:30:55 Speaker 4: Now, maybe that's just like his natural thing, but I don't know. I feel like I'm kind of there, you go. 00:31:00 Speaker 8: I feel like I'm kind of a both hands thing. Or even if I'm moving my left hand as I'm talking, there's still some movement over here. It was like like it looked, it looked awkward, like and that my brothers are the guys I look up to, and I'm thinking, is that like that doesn't seem now? 00:31:16 Speaker 2: This could be breaking news here like this demonstration. 00:31:20 Speaker 4: Nobody has the sounder out here, do we? 00:31:28 Speaker 2: And then we talked about the image upgrade. 00:31:30 Speaker 3: If Sam Donald wins, oh does that wipe away everything? 00:31:34 Speaker 4: Yes? It does. 00:31:35 Speaker 8: He's He's our king, Dan, He's the king of the five team Club. There's not many of us that have played for five teams, okay, he like, I'm not rooting for anyone because I'm calling the game and I'm crazy objective and I would never ever do that, of course. On however, I will be very happy for Sam Donald and fellow members of the five Team Club if he gets it done. I I like people and like to overcome adversity, and I like people that just. 00:32:03 Speaker 4: Oh you do. 00:32:04 Speaker 3: You don't like people who can't overcome itainst the people. 00:32:12 Speaker 8: If you're out there in life and you're struggling with a diversity, you can't overcome it, I hate you. 00:32:18 Speaker 7: I'm rooting against you. 00:32:20 Speaker 3: That sounds like something Todd would do. And I root against these people overcoming adversity. 00:32:25 Speaker 7: I'm a negative, I skull negative sometimes no, but I'm I'm thrilled for him. 00:32:29 Speaker 4: And what I like is. 00:32:30 Speaker 8: I like when guys take a blowtorch to lazy narratives, you know, like when Marvin Lewis was the coach of the Bengals, I was dying for him to win a playoff game, just so the people that don't really follow the sport could stop saying. 00:32:44 Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean told me when he told me when he wins a playoff game, you know. 00:32:47 Speaker 8: And I think Donold's kind of already done that because it was always wake me up when he wins. 00:32:52 Speaker 4: A big game. 00:32:53 Speaker 8: Well, let me know, when he played Dan, they don't win that game in the NFCY Championship unless he plays really, really well. I thought that they might be able to win it with him just being along for the ride. No, he had to play awesome, and he did, which makes it all the sweeter. And I love the way he's embracing it. I don't know if I fully believe him when he says, you know, I enjoyed my time with the Jets and the Panthers, and all of. 00:33:19 Speaker 4: It led to where I am here. 00:33:21 Speaker 8: Yeah, I don't think i'd be saying about some of the teams that cut me, Okay, Like I don't feel that way about some of the teams that let me go, at least not if I was talking with you guys privately. 00:33:29 Speaker 4: So I wonder if he really feels that way or not. 00:33:31 Speaker 8: But I appreciate how classy he's being with his process and those former teams. 00:33:38 Speaker 7: He could really say. 00:33:40 Speaker 8: See Jets, see Jets, you should have stuck with me. See I'm a super Bowl quarterback. But he's not going that way at all. 00:33:46 Speaker 3: Maybe Sunday night, late Sunday night, he could say that, But that's not him. That's no, that's not Sam. No, he's Ross Tucker. He roots against people trying to overcome adversity. 00:33:58 Speaker 2: Great to see him always. 00:34:00 Speaker 3: Fun on Sunday night and make America proud when you're over there. 00:34:04 Speaker 4: Okay, oh yeah, that feels like pressure. Now. I don't want to I don't want people to think, oh, look at this American and he's terrible. 00:34:11 Speaker 3: We just don't kind of color outside the lines, don't do fritzy stuff. 00:34:16 Speaker 8: Why why does the Coke and Sprite cooler over there have Miller light in it? 00:34:21 Speaker 3: Because I like beer, I got secondhand smoke, I got Miller like today. 00:34:29 Speaker 4: I love that. 00:34:30 Speaker 7: You're I love that you labeled it coke and Sprite. I own yeah, Miller lights. 00:34:37 Speaker 2: Yeah, and it's beer. 00:34:38 Speaker 7: That's what we did in high school. 00:34:39 Speaker 2: Day like high school? 00:34:42 Speaker 4: That's what do you want already? 00:34:43 Speaker 2: Thank you, Bud, all right, thank you, thank you, the. 00:34:45 Speaker 3: Great Ross Tucker, everybody CB on Sports west Wood One and the Ross Tucker Football Podcast. 00:34:51 Speaker 2: Take a break. 00:34:52 Speaker 1: Play of the day up next. By the way, there's a couple reports that James Harden and the Clippers are working on a buyout or some kind of agreement to trade him, perhaps to the Cleveland Cavaliers. So Cleveland is stalking up and we keep thinking that maybe Lebron ends up there. I don't think it's going to happen by this trade deadline, but maybe in the off season. And the New York Knicks reportedly went all in on trying to make a deal for Jannis. If I'm Milwaukee, I wait, I wait until the summer, more flexibility. But you might get some of these teams who realize, certainly in the East it's wide open. You got a chance. Maybe you could get Yannis and depending on what Milwaukee wants in return. The Commissioner met with the media yesterday and he did what the commissioner is paid to do, basically kind of deflect and you could ask him whatever you wanted to ask him, and you know he kind of gave you that Commissioner, well, we're looking into that. Whether it's eighteen games, it's international play. You know a lot of different things that are at least on the docket here for him. And I don't know if there was any news there. I think that he says it's not a foregone conclusion with an eighteen game schedule. Meanwhile, Robert Kraft went on a Boston radio station and said, basically, this is a foregone conclusion. We're gonna have eighteen games. The thing that I want to know about now, this is the last great leverage play for the players in the players Association. If there are things that they want, this is it. You go to eighteen games. I don't think that we're going to nineteen in my lifetime. But you can ask for more places, roster, expanding your rosters maybe by four players. You add that up four players per team, the amount of money that's going to be paid out and benefits. Are you going to be able to ask for anything other than that? Are you gonna ask for a little bit more of the pie? And Paulie brought this up to me. He goes, let's say you're Joe Burrow and you're in the middle of year contract and now they add a nineteenth game. Do they pay you what the average is of your paycheck for the eighteen? Like, do you get that for your nineteenth game? I'm you know, it's an extra game check. So let's say you make seven hundred thousand dollars whatever per game, do you then get Hey, you average out seven hundred thousand, so you get seven hundred thousand for that next paycheck. But I think we're pretty close to it. I think we're also a lot closer to a super Bowl outside the United States than people would like to admit. I don't think you could do that with this president. I think you're just asking for a pushback on that of having something outside the United S dates. I don't think that, you know, President Trump would allow that to happen, But maybe down the road. We asked Diana Rassini NFL Insider, and she said, you know, I said five and a half years, and she said, absolutely, I could see it happening, you know, somewhere in that time period. And I think London would make the most sense because the NFL has been going to London. They went back there, you know, with the Bears in the eighties. And it turns out a lot of fans Bears fans in England. And you know who Roger Bennett, Yeah, Roger, Yeah, the soccer guy. He became a Bears fan when they came over there with the Fridge and McMahon and you know Walter Peyton didka Yeah, PAULI. 00:39:41 Speaker 5: I went back and looked the topic of a Super Bowl in London. It goes back to two thousand and five, six, seven and eight, and I looked it got really negative reaction here in America, and it's almost like the NFL said, let's put a pause on that and just slow roll out international games all over the world over the next decade. 00:39:57 Speaker 2: Yeah. See, well the one hurdle. 00:39:59 Speaker 6: I agree with that, everything except what time are you going to start the game. 00:40:03 Speaker 3: You're gonna have to start it a little earlier because of London time, right. 00:40:09 Speaker 2: So it's like to me, that's actually you could take away. They're like, well, we're American, you can't do that thing. Take all of that stuff away. 00:40:15 Speaker 6: And what I think what people are really gonna be upset about is Why are you making me watch this at four o'clock. 00:40:20 Speaker 2: Yeah, that's I don't watch the super Bowl at three o'clock. 00:40:23 Speaker 6: We've been trying to get Monday off because it's a national holiday day after Super Bowl Day. 00:40:27 Speaker 2: You know, I don't think that, peep. 00:40:28 Speaker 6: I think people are gonna be more upset about changing the time that they watch the game than they are where it would be. 00:40:33 Speaker 3: But if you place it where you have the holiday, the national holiday right after that, and you have the day off, yeah, you. 00:40:40 Speaker 2: Don't need it anymore because the game is going to start at three o'clock. So what do you need the day off for the next day? 00:40:44 Speaker 5: Yes, Paul, or the London Super Bowl is the one that's on a Saturday, Saturday, four o'clock party, live it up, all day coverage. Yeah, sleep in Sunday. 00:40:53 Speaker 2: It's gonna be Super Bowl Saturday. Now, I don't know. 00:40:55 Speaker 5: I don't know London and Saturday. 00:40:57 Speaker 2: I'll give you the day off, you know, the day after the Super Bowl. 00:41:01 Speaker 6: Like, say, that's the thing, like, well, how many hoops are you gonna jump through just to get the game in London for really no reason? 00:41:07 Speaker 3: Well, this is about global expansion. I mean, that's why they're playing all of these international games. I mean, they've gotten everything they could get out of America. Now it's about taking over the world. Christopher mad Dog Russo will join us. Also, Frank Caliendo and the Hall of Famer Steve Young will stop by one Hour in the Books on this Tuesday, Dan and the Dannetz Fritzy Seat and Marve Paula 00:41:31 Speaker 2: Years truly Hour two on the way right after this
