00:00:00 Speaker 1: Welcome to Hour two of Kentucky Sports Radio, present it by Stockton Mortgage. Now here's Matt Jones. 00:00:06 Speaker 2: Welcome back, Tekey Sports Radio eight five nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven. Text Machine seven seven two seven seven four five two five four. A couple of interesting theories here, Shannon. One person says, Matt, Now, people will beg for the old cracker barrel like they did for the old coke when they had new coke, and it'll. 00:00:23 Speaker 1: Work maybe so if they actually maybe so, I mean. 00:00:26 Speaker 2: Like you're talking about it. When was the last time we had a conversation about cracker ball when we did the old Outback versus Cracker Barrel at the twenty sixteen Republican Convention. 00:00:34 Speaker 3: Yeah, it's the last time we talked about it. 00:00:35 Speaker 2: That's probably the last time. So like Chili's did that. Yeah, So like Chili's is doing pretty Like Chili's is having a comeback because they kind of went away. I mean, honestly to some extent in a minor way. That's kind of what we did with KS far. We were like, we're kind of going through this down groove where I felt like the food had slipped a little bit, like your service slipped a little bit, like are we just it? Just the energy wasn't there, And I was like, we can sit here and try to fix this on the fly, or let's just go away for two or three months, fix everything, make the food better, and then come back and then you get energy from like reappearing. I think that I hope that worked for us. I know I hear a lot more people say positive, positive things. We'll find out the next few weeks, but I think that's probably the theory. Maybe that'll happen with Cracker Barrel, Like they'll do all this and then everybody will go do it the other way and then they'll be get excited about it. 00:01:33 Speaker 3: I think it's definitely gonna work what we're doing. I think we saw the excitement last night the Cracker Barrel. 00:01:37 Speaker 4: Though. 00:01:37 Speaker 3: You make it sound like they're gonna rebrand everything, rebrand the logo, rebrand the look. 00:01:42 Speaker 2: Yeah, they took the barrel and the cracker off the logo, so like, what are you gonna what are you gonna have the rocking chairs. 00:01:46 Speaker 1: Out front of the Yeah, they say they're still gonna have that. But the CEO is acting like all this positivity is coming from their customers, and not one person in the comments section had anything positive to say, So I don't know where all this positivity is coming from. 00:01:59 Speaker 2: Well, people look see that's also a personality type. Like there are people who look for the positivity and like ignore the. 00:02:07 Speaker 5: Negativity, that's it. And then there are people like me who look at the negativity and can aghore the fight. Near of them are totally right, you know what I mean. Neither of them are reality, That's exactly right. So you have to kind of find what that balance is. 00:02:21 Speaker 2: And some people don't look at any negativity, and I think that's a poor way to do things too, because then you can be deluded on what you know what I mean? Like col cal ignored all negativity as and if anybody was negative, it was because they were his enemy, right, So he never really got an understanding of where the fan base was. Maybe the Cracker Barrel ladies like that too. 00:02:46 Speaker 3: Well, like you said, it's a good analogy with what you thought about cash Bar. 00:02:49 Speaker 2: I just thought we needed so like I just thought we needed just a reset because like on the good days it was awesome, but on the bad but on another day sometimes and I was just like we just need to reset, refocus. We needed to change some food items, which we did. I think they're a lot better. I think our burgers, boneless wings are a lot better. We got some new appetizers. We just needed a reset, and like you could feel it last night with that energy last night, we hadn't had that in a while, didn't you agree? 00:03:19 Speaker 3: It felt like one of our opening weekends. 00:03:21 Speaker 2: It did. And then we did that wings test a couple weeks ago, and because we were going to try a new wing, and then when we did it, we realized it didn't work, which is why I'm glad we did it. We were like, why are we changing this, Let's go back to what we had that was good. Yeah. So those seventy five people, you're gonna get something in your email that's a present from me because you taught us that what we did there didn't work. 00:03:41 Speaker 3: And I think we'll see another step tonight with. 00:03:43 Speaker 2: The Yeah, a lot of people coming tonight, hopefully looking forward to seeing everybody tonight. All right, If I'm nine two eight twenty two eighty seven, I'm gonna get to the phone real quick. But two things. One, Mark Pope says he's meeting thirty minutes with every player on the roster individually every week. 00:04:00 Speaker 3: Yeah, it's a lot. 00:04:02 Speaker 2: So that's like seven hours just of thirty minute meetings. Shannon. Yeah, first of all, do you believe that? 00:04:13 Speaker 1: I don't know why he would lie about it. I agree, thirty minutes though, it does feel like a lot every week. 00:04:20 Speaker 2: You know, do you think you'd have thirty minutes worth of conversation. 00:04:23 Speaker 1: No, I think it's probably shaved down to more like ten or fifteen. And that's probably how you can squeeze all these in in one week. 00:04:29 Speaker 5: So if anybody could do it, though, it would be Mark Poff because he. 00:04:32 Speaker 1: Talks, could do it. Yeah. Do the players have that much to say? 00:04:35 Speaker 2: Probably? But they maybe they don't have to talk much. 00:04:37 Speaker 3: Yeah, I can say this, and Shannon maybe would agree. When I played college baseball, the last thing I wanted to do, the last thing was a sent and talk to my coach for thirty minutes. You kind of get sick of them. You're in practice all day long, You're in film all day long. 00:04:50 Speaker 2: Well, Mark says, though, did you I heard it in interview one of them he did, maybe with Matt Orlander that he doesn't talk a lot in pros because he doesn't want them to get tired of his voice. He said so a lot of his talk is in other times the assistants do a lot of the direct coaching. In practice, he does bigger picture stuff because he doesn't want his players to be like, Oh, I gotta listen to this guy some more. I know. 00:05:15 Speaker 3: That's what I felt like. You said that they're gonna he's gonna beat the other in thirty minutes. That's exactly what I thought, like, Oh, I gotta go sit and listen to coach. Tell me what I'm doing wrong with for another thirty minutes. Yeah, well, he plays chess with these guys for thirty minutes. Those guys played chess with him, and. 00:05:27 Speaker 2: He's, oh, you missed this last week. But Jaden Quaintan's is five and one against him, which I'm telling you is the thing that makes me the most excited about Jayden Quaens. We knew he was a great athlete. We knew he's like an elite, elite defender. When I heard that Mark Pope, who is smart, so I'm gonna assume he's good at chess. If Jaden is up. 00:05:47 Speaker 3: Five to one on him, it says something. 00:05:50 Speaker 2: That's pretty good because Colin Chandler's losing in their series, and Colin Chandler's apparently a pretty good shame quaintance must be good at chess, and he's. 00:05:57 Speaker 3: Still like just like eighteen years old. 00:05:59 Speaker 2: Yeah. 00:06:00 Speaker 1: Now, what would DeMarcus Cousins say about this? 00:06:02 Speaker 2: Well, this ain't no spelling. 00:06:03 Speaker 1: Spelling Bee, go out there and play basketball. 00:06:05 Speaker 2: This ain't no spelling. That's all right, that's really great quote. 00:06:10 Speaker 3: Like if you think. 00:06:11 Speaker 2: About like my favorite quotes from UK players, this ain't no spelling bee, because it's so DeMarcus. First of all, it's a great answer to what was happening during that week, which was people were saying Cornell is what college basketball should be. Kentucky's not right. And it also in Demarcus's mind, like what it means to be smart in college is spelling Bee. That's what I love about it. Well, and that's another one. Say that again alone, miss the President de Marcus Coon that's another great one. Hello, mister President, this is DeMarcus Cousins. 00:06:52 Speaker 3: I got one for you. 00:06:52 Speaker 2: Okay. 00:06:53 Speaker 3: When they ask Antoine walkerway shoot so many three? Yeah, because there ain't no force. 00:06:56 Speaker 2: There ain't no force. Although I think he said that in college or in the pro. I don't think he said that at UK. I think he said that in the pros. Hello, mister President, this is DeMarcus Cousins. 00:07:08 Speaker 3: He's got two of the top quotes of all time. 00:07:13 Speaker 2: I loved that so much. 00:07:14 Speaker 3: And then they lost the game that night he did. 00:07:16 Speaker 2: That was there. That was their second loss or was it their their first loss? It was their first loss. It was after hoops for Haiti. That was when people were really mad. They were like, Barack Obamas cost us an undefeated season. But you know, so yesterday when I was on ESPN, I got him to do a segment about John Wall, which led me to kind of talking about that team. And we went back and looked like we skip over that during the regular season. The President called the team, Yeah right, I mean Obama called the team during the season, looked at John Wall and said, I've been watching you son, Huh, Like, well, that's the rock Star team. 00:07:57 Speaker 3: Lebron came to a game. 00:07:58 Speaker 2: Lebron jay Z, Lil Wayne Drake, and Magic Johnson all came to a game at Arena. 00:08:05 Speaker 3: I think Mike Tommlin was there. The Pittsburgh Dealers head coach one time. They all wanted to see this rock star game. 00:08:10 Speaker 2: Rock so crazy stuff. But hello, mister president, this is DeMarcus on any other team. DeMarcus Cousins is the show. Yes, right anyway, Gino, go ahead, Geno, Hey. 00:08:24 Speaker 6: Matt, it's been about a month since you talked about this, but I was wondering if you saw the interviews. It's cod national news coverage, but the interviews with the ladies in Leccher County earlier this week about the So this. 00:08:36 Speaker 2: Is is that the judge the sheriff. I excuse me, yes, yeah, so the sheriffs shot the judge, and I guess there's been Yeah, so there's there's a couple of stories they've come out where women have said that the guy who got shot. Tell me if I'm right about this, I don't want to get it wrong, Geno, the guy who got shot allegedly required women in jail to give like sexual favors. Am I right about that? 00:09:03 Speaker 6: Yeah, there's a lot more going on in the chambers than talking about this. Hue. 00:09:07 Speaker 2: Yeah, that's not good. I mean, that's yeah. I appreciate the call. I mean, this was I think the story maybe was a I don't know if it was CBS, but it was also like a British like a British news organization did it went to Letcher County. The allegation is the guy who the sheriff shot also the women that were in jail in Letcher County. He would either well I don't know if he has a power to let him out, but a lejudge, well maybe he did. I don't remember, but there was something I didn't There was something about the way that would exchange sexual favors for something so pretty bad stuff. 00:09:46 Speaker 3: Yeah, they got several women I read the story had stepped up and said that he well, you read it's what it said that the women. He had several women that had come forward to say that they did sexual favors for him to be leaning on their sentence or to let him out of l is judge, and often it would happen in his chambers. 00:10:04 Speaker 2: James Dobson, the founder of Focus on the Family, has passed away. When as a kid, I remember they would play those videos in our church. Really remember James Dobson. 00:10:14 Speaker 3: I'm sorry I don't. 00:10:15 Speaker 2: Yeah, he was like in that whole evangelist era of that time. Uh. Well, rest in peace. Andrew. What's up? Andrew? 00:10:26 Speaker 6: First time? 00:10:26 Speaker 2: Long time? Who are What's up? 00:10:30 Speaker 7: I just had a suggestion for Ryan. This year is the last year for Christian County High School in an Hoppinsville High School football game before they combine and go to the Mega school, which is also an unpopular opinion of Christian County. I'd say about seventy five percent of people ain't really looking forward to the combination of the schools. And then for Shannon, he was talking about hypnosis. 00:10:50 Speaker 2: Your suggestion he should go, Your suggest Ryde should go? 00:10:54 Speaker 7: Oh, absolutely, the end of the end of an era. 00:10:57 Speaker 2: You should do like Friday night football games. You would love that, like you just generally. 00:11:01 Speaker 3: I'm going to Woodford County game. 00:11:03 Speaker 2: Maybe we could do the Ryan Lemon game of the week. Find a sponsor. Yeah, he doesn't seem as excited about that. You're gonna wish you did it. Go ahead. What was your second thing? 00:11:14 Speaker 7: Oh, it was just for Shannon. He was talking about hypnosis earlier. My parents took me that stuff when I was kid. That's the biggest shenanigans I ever did in my entire life. 00:11:23 Speaker 1: I'm with you, I don't believe in it either. Some people swear that it's it's a real thing. I don't believe it. 00:11:28 Speaker 2: So I believe I believe that you can get like you can go into like a deep I don't want to say sleep, but like a deep a deep meditative thing where your mind can kind of float and you're sort of like, you know, not in like it's hard to describe. I do believe you can get into that deep meditative state. Do I believe you can get to something where people then say bark like a dog and you do it. If I'm with you, I don't believe that's real either. 00:12:01 Speaker 7: And then, uh, I'm just disappointed that I aint gonna be able to sit in Crackerber trying to figure out all the items that was on the wall. 00:12:07 Speaker 2: Well, they're gonna leave there. I think they're leaving the urine ignoramus right, the golf tea game, the golf tea that they're leaving that. 00:12:16 Speaker 7: Okay, you have all the stuff on the walls, like you just could you imagine being born in nineteen twenties and your picture ends up in a random Cracker's. 00:12:23 Speaker 2: True, that's true. I appreciate the call. You can wonder if they gave their likeness you can't get rid of the urine ignoram No, yeah. 00:12:32 Speaker 3: That's or not the rocking chairs fireplace. What about the Country store, They're gonna keep it. 00:12:37 Speaker 2: They're keeping the store, but they're gonna make it like have other stuff. I also think, if I read correctly, they are changing the logo everywhere, but the design of the stores the new like the old ones are going to stay like that. Just the new ones in the cities are going to be the modern thing. 00:12:54 Speaker 3: They're afraid nobody will come up. 00:12:55 Speaker 2: They have the Country They're doing a pop up store in New York to see how it goes, because if you think about it, there are no cracker barrels in major cities. You ever seen one in a big city. 00:13:03 Speaker 3: No, They're always out on the road. They're always out. 00:13:05 Speaker 2: Next to the interstatep Like even in Lexington, the one is out next to the interste. 00:13:09 Speaker 3: Both of them, one the other one, what's the other one on Winchester Road, Winchester Road out there. 00:13:14 Speaker 2: One's a new town pip right. Yeah. So I think they're like trying to figure out how do you put it in Times Square because you know, like the most successful olive garden in America is in Time Square. 00:13:26 Speaker 3: Really that makes sense. 00:13:28 Speaker 2: I don't know who those people are though. Who goes to New York and eats at the Olive gard Actually I say that Drew and I have eaten at the Times Square. It's like a joke, but we did. We did eat there. 00:13:38 Speaker 3: Maybe that's why everybody goes kind of as a joke. 00:13:41 Speaker 1: Yeah, the cheapest thing you can eat in New York City. 00:13:43 Speaker 2: It actually is pretty relatively cheap if you eat at one of those places. So they have a TGI Fridays in the middle of Time Square. Really yeah, yeah? If I'm nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven Draft Kings, my Braves loss last night two one, but so did the Matter night two to one. But so did the Mats. So that's that's good. We're still on the game back, hanging in there, thirty four games to go. But DraftKings, you can go make your bets. Let's see what's happening tonight. Since we don't have the Reds to bet on. Let's look what. 00:14:18 Speaker 1: Do we got NFL games? I believe, all right, so let's. 00:14:20 Speaker 2: Do an NFL preseason game. You gotta be a real degenerate to uh to do this. NFL preseason game Steelers Panthers. Steelers are a four and a half point favorite. I'm taking the Panthers to win plus two hundred. 00:14:34 Speaker 1: Wow, give me the Steelers on this one. I don't know why. I don't even know who their third drinks are. 00:14:41 Speaker 3: I am so anti Aaron Rodgers. I'm going with the Panthers. Ain't gonna play nobody. He's on the team, all right. 00:14:46 Speaker 2: Well, either way, we got the pants plus two hundred, get some get some big money. Go to DraftKings, Draft Kings sports Book. Uh, the crown is yours and let me read this little thing you have to read. Yes, if you have a game problem, call one here game or eighteen plus k Tucky only. Elgebier supply both spects by our hundreds by seven days after interestitional turb responsoring game and resources see DKG dot C on SISH audio. We'll take a break right back. Ksar Well, I haven't thought about this song in a long time. He is this live live? 00:15:15 Speaker 1: I alone, I alone? 00:15:17 Speaker 2: Yeah, that dude that they were really popular for like a year. 00:15:20 Speaker 1: They played Bourbon and Beyond Fust a couple of years ago. They were really good. 00:15:23 Speaker 2: Yeah, I can think of my friend Chris Thompson Rest in peace and I driving to UK or Middlesbrough basketball games through the hills of Eastern Kentucky. He loved Live, So if you've got in his gray car, we just had to listen to Live the whole time. So every time I hear Live, I think of us driving like efverts for a basketball game. 00:15:47 Speaker 3: Did you get to play in that game? 00:15:48 Speaker 2: No? This was after I was already asked to be a manager, but I still I still wanted to go watch them. We go on to Friday nights. It's because I liked going to these towns, like I liked going to new gyms. 00:15:58 Speaker 3: And you know, you were an All American clapper your final year at midst. 00:16:02 Speaker 2: Say that again, like you do the same jokes. Maybe during this free time you can come up. You could come up Shannon with new jokes. 00:16:10 Speaker 1: Right, Yeah, we need some new dad jokes for you. 00:16:12 Speaker 2: New dad jokes. These jokes, they're the same ones. One person rights, Matt. I thought you all had the best day of asking anything Wednesday callers in a long time. Yesterday, so did I. I thought they were great. Like the callers stepped up in the last couple of days of really funny, interesting calls. I uh, I enjoyed that. 00:16:31 Speaker 1: I went was great. Yeah, who Wendell. 00:16:36 Speaker 2: Windows was a little That one's a little different, right, So tell me where we are tomorrow. We're in Louisville. Yeah, uh, Volunteers of America. 00:16:44 Speaker 1: Yes, I have the address right here. It is at two twenty five East Breckenridge Street. 00:16:51 Speaker 2: To twenty five East Breckinridge Street Street, the new Volunteers of America facility. We're gonna be there, Come on out, show Kentucky fans there. My friend Craig is the mayor is going to be there, is going to be there. Yeah, Mayor Craig is gonna berow. Now, Shannon, can we just like we like, we love the Volunteers in America. We're gonna have fun tomorrow. 00:17:16 Speaker 1: But I know what he's gonna say. 00:17:21 Speaker 2: Do you know they they gave Billy yesterday a sheet of paper with all the times on the show and what they wanted me to say for each time. 00:17:38 Speaker 1: It's a very detailed itinerary. 00:17:40 Speaker 3: Very detailed, I tear, probably what real radio shows gonna have every day. 00:17:45 Speaker 2: But we are doing that. 00:17:48 Speaker 1: Like, tell me I've never had k s R. 00:17:50 Speaker 2: Tell me you don't know K s R. When you say, Matt will say this then, so I said to him, hey, just give me some talking points. We'll be good. But like at ten seventeen that that's just that's not what it was. 00:18:10 Speaker 3: A full production sheet for the two hours. 00:18:12 Speaker 2: You've seen it, Shannon, Yeah, it's like three pages long. So uh, Billy showed it to me and I just handed back to him and said, tell them thank you, but we'll we'll just do That's so normal, yes, right, because that's kind. 00:18:26 Speaker 3: Of Did they have slots where were supposed to interview guests too? 00:18:29 Speaker 2: Maybe? 00:18:30 Speaker 1: I believe that was eleven o'clock to start. 00:18:32 Speaker 2: At eleven o'clock. Yeah, it was thirty minutes with Craig. 00:18:35 Speaker 3: Thirty minutes with Craig. 00:18:36 Speaker 2: I said, I'll give Craig three to five, which is plenty, and we'll probably talk about wrestling. Yeah, Shane, go ahead, Shane. 00:18:46 Speaker 8: Hey, I was just wondering if you guys would think that this is like the coolest idea ever or the stupidest idea ever. But I was thinking after John Wall retired yesterday and then y'all were talking about Patrick Patterson earlier today, it just hit me, you know, college basketball is changing, as you know, like every year it changes. And you know from Ennis Canter to not not being able to play back in twenty eleven and now Yellovich was a professional and now he's gonna be able to play Big Z same thing. And I was wondering about this, like what if what if professional players like the one and Doun's that came out like John Law? You know what if they were made a rule in the NCAA are so stupid they would never even consider it, But I think it would be an interesting thing to talk about. What if after they retire, five years after they retire, they could come back and play college basketball. John Wall would be thirty nine years old, but some of the younger guys would have you know, maybe they didn't make like the Harrison Twins or or. 00:19:42 Speaker 9: Really called example. 00:19:44 Speaker 2: Yes, I think they should. I think they Jay Billis has. 00:19:48 Speaker 8: Been taking with it would sell so many tickets. I mean, it would be incredible to go back and watch these guys are real taking toll. 00:19:55 Speaker 2: Jay Billis talked about it, has been talking about this for years. Why not allow guys to come back, get their college degree and play, Like who does it hurt to have Khalil Whitney play be played basketball? Who does it hurt he gets assuming he's in college? Right? Like, what's what's bad about that? Now? I mean, would you want to have an age an age bear? Maybe? But if somebody makes a decision and goes to pro it doesn't work, why can't they come back? You know the Yellowitch examples perfect. He was a pro, he's getting to come here. Why should we punish an American player who's a pro when we let a foreign player do why? What's the what's the reasoning? 00:20:42 Speaker 3: Is it something you think it's coming? Then? 00:20:44 Speaker 2: I don't know. I think the caller's right. The NCAA will be hesitoned to do it. But I mean, I don't think you should let him play more than four years. But if they did not play four years and they have a chance and they have eligibility, then why not? What's the downside? 00:21:03 Speaker 3: Takes a roster spot from another player? 00:21:05 Speaker 2: Maybe okay, but the kid could graduate from college. The product is better and it'll actually make the basketball at the lower levels better because the kid that might have gone to Mississippi State will now go to Southern miss or something like that. Right, I just in a transfer the idea that a kid should be able to come from from Croatia after playing pro basketball and play college, but a guy that went to the pros and didn't get signed has to go to Croatia. 00:21:33 Speaker 3: Yeah, like, think about that. 00:21:35 Speaker 2: I mean, that's the system we have. If a kid leaves to go to the NBA and he doesn't make it, he has to go overseas. 00:21:43 Speaker 3: Right while the kids from overseas. 00:21:45 Speaker 2: Who've already played a pro are allowed. 00:21:47 Speaker 3: To come here and play college. How does that make sense? 00:21:49 Speaker 2: It doesn't make any sense. 00:21:51 Speaker 3: Can you imagine if the Twins came back for a second time. 00:21:54 Speaker 2: I mean they're that little old though what I'm talking from what I'm talking about, But the principal is still the same. Yeah, like, this is essentially a pro sport. Now you've got the benefit of education. The TBT shows that these guys get more love doing this than what they do in their other stuff. Absolutely, so why not? 00:22:17 Speaker 3: Why not? 00:22:17 Speaker 2: I just don't, I mean, we I just think rethinking that. I think the caller makes a good point. Why why wouldn't we rethink it now? Because it's a different world. I like them, I like that idea. We'll take a break, break back to SKSR. 00:22:29 Speaker 1: TJ Smith, personal injury attorney called TJ. 00:22:32 Speaker 2: He'll make them pay. 00:22:33 Speaker 1: Now more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Here's Matt Jones. 00:22:39 Speaker 2: What is this acon? Acon? 00:22:42 Speaker 1: Yeah? 00:22:43 Speaker 2: All right? So he so Mario made fun of me last night, Yes he did. 00:22:48 Speaker 6: So. 00:22:48 Speaker 2: You know one of the questions I do in the trivia is I'm like, what is the age I give a person? And you have to guess the age? Shit? Yeah, and you have to get two years one direction or the other. Does that make sense? So I'll just do one here for you right now. Jason Kelsey, how old do you think Jason Kelsey is. 00:23:09 Speaker 9: Ryan? 00:23:09 Speaker 1: You want to guess? 00:23:11 Speaker 2: You have to guess thirty four thirty seven, so you get it credit for thirty five to thirty nine. So you wouldn't have gotten that. 00:23:20 Speaker 3: One one of your choices was Shannon the dude Griggsby liked you. 00:23:22 Speaker 2: Were on there last night. That's why I asked you. That's why I confirmed you were forty two, because you were on there last night. That's when you got right. Yeah. Sure. Jimmy Fallon, how old do you think Jimmy Fallon. 00:23:33 Speaker 1: Is Jimmy fallon fifty. 00:23:37 Speaker 2: He is exactly fifty. Well done, Shannon fist pump through the through the screen. Linda Gordon, the mayor of Lexi, that's the one that surprised me. I was shocked me. She's probably gonna be embarrassed. I'm saying this on the radio. I was shocked me too by how old Linda Gordon is. 00:23:56 Speaker 1: I'm I'm afraid to guess. I gotta go younger than what I would think. 00:24:00 Speaker 2: What are we gonna say fifty eight? I thought she was probably like early sixties, so we guessed she's seventy six years old. She looks great for seventy seventy six. She's seventy six. 00:24:13 Speaker 1: I would never guess that. 00:24:14 Speaker 2: I would have never good for her. I really wouldn't have. I would have thought she was in her she was seventy six when I I could. 00:24:23 Speaker 3: I don't think one person got it right because she doesn't look, it doesn't act it good for her? 00:24:28 Speaker 2: Good for her? 00:24:29 Speaker 3: Then? 00:24:29 Speaker 2: I also so. So my point is one of them on there was somebody that like some people call asap rock, that's what some people. 00:24:40 Speaker 3: Call what'd you call him? 00:24:42 Speaker 2: Well, there's other like his good friends call him asap. 00:24:46 Speaker 3: Rock Oh okay, so you're in that category. 00:24:49 Speaker 2: So when I read his name, Shannon, I hear this cackling from the back. 00:24:55 Speaker 6: Yeah. 00:24:55 Speaker 2: And it's Mario, who has led the entire back half of the restaurant to laugh at me, saying as asap rocky, which is what his friends call it instead of asap Rocky. Well, i'll tell you the other reason I felt like an old man. This is okay. You want to talk about when things hit you. This was one of them. Last night. Last night, this dude comes up to me. He's one of the new servers at kspar student at UK. He goes, hey, I'm John Boss's son. I was like, Johnny Ba, my old like. I worked with him as a lawyer when I was practicing law. I was like, oh, how's your dad, Johnny Ba. I can't believe it. I'm like, hey, you know. And then I said Johnny Ba and I worked together in like two thousand and eight. And he goes, I was two. 00:25:58 Speaker 3: You'd probably remember year old. 00:26:00 Speaker 2: He was two and now he's working at my bar. 00:26:04 Speaker 1: Wow, Shannity was two and now he's almost twenty. 00:26:09 Speaker 2: So I showed so that led me to pill. That led me to put up find a picture of the claw. Yeah. So let me just say to people, some of y'all have seen this just right now. Google Matt Jones, Kentucky Law works or no, excuse me, don't do that. They won't come up. Go to Twitter, Twitter and put like ky Sports Radio claw or something like that. I think that's how it comes up Klaw. You'll find our old billboard. Okay, is that what works? I'll read this ad while you're looking it up. You tell me if this works. Summers calling and so. It's got a picture of you looking like Paul Roska. 00:27:23 Speaker 2: That was me being really fat in that picture. But that's not the one I'm talking about. There's a billboard Corey Price or somebody will find it. But here's the billboard, Shain And this was what our billboard wasn't two thousand? 00:27:35 Speaker 4: That? 00:27:35 Speaker 1: No, No, I've seen it before. 00:27:36 Speaker 2: Look first of all, look how fat? 00:27:38 Speaker 3: I look at your true big face. 00:27:40 Speaker 2: But then that's Johnny Barr right there. That's his and his son is now working at He is now working at Ksbar. Look at I liked you. Shit, excuse me, Ryan said? The one guy that's Brian Cook. He got his head like, he didn't even get his head into picture negotiating negotiate his contract. 00:27:58 Speaker 1: You got a great looking like me mug. Look on your hat. Now you know if you get hurt called the cloth, Yeah right. 00:28:04 Speaker 3: Get your sugar white shirt. 00:28:07 Speaker 2: Don't have white shirts? 00:28:08 Speaker 3: Yeah, get your shirts. Leaves road up a little bit. 00:28:10 Speaker 2: Looks like how ridiculous? Why did I think that? 00:28:13 Speaker 3: Did you get any business? 00:28:15 Speaker 2: Yeah? It worked? Then there is still I won't say where, but there's this billboard is still hanging its Occasionally somebody will drive by and take a picture of it. It is hanging off this like dessert. Because we could only afford billboards, Like we couldn't afford prime placement. Yeah, so we like went to the billboard company and they're like, we can sell you twenty billboards in eastern Kentucky, but only one is on a major road, and you took it. So we got the one on a major road and actually got us a lot of business, and then we just took the other nineteen and one of them is still up because I guess they've never sold. 00:28:52 Speaker 3: How have we never done a show at the base of this billboard? 00:28:56 Speaker 2: It's still up in well, I'll see if somebody can find it, but it's on like this country row. Wow. And he just turned around and there I am hurt. Called the claw with me Johnny Bruce, Yeah, anyway, that was I was telling him. I was like, I almost got shot. 00:29:11 Speaker 3: Yeah that commercial. 00:29:13 Speaker 2: Yeah, the one where I'm in front of the courthouse there. That was when that guy like pulled a shotgun. 00:29:18 Speaker 3: I remember you've told that story before. 00:29:20 Speaker 2: I mean that was in a lagrange of all places. 00:29:23 Speaker 3: And they have to just have me shooting a commercial that day. You want of your commercials. 00:29:26 Speaker 2: That day, they were shooting a commercial of me and Vanessa Cantley and her assistant was there and he was like cat calling her and making like really rude comments, and finally I was like, dude, shut up, like I except I cussed, and he goes, oh, we'll see if you'll talk bad about me, and he drives off from Five minutes later, he drives up with a shotgun. Go man, And I was like, hey man, we're good. Yeah, everybody, everybody calm down. So of all places, lagrange, Like, that's not even they shoot Hallmark movies there. 00:30:02 Speaker 3: I've heard you tell that story before. That's scary, man, Eric, go ahead, here. 00:30:11 Speaker 9: Afternoon, guys, Good afternoon. Hey Ry. Do you remember when they used to the cats versus cops down there Intel City? 00:30:19 Speaker 3: Oh yeah, that's absolutely. 00:30:23 Speaker 8: Yeah. 00:30:23 Speaker 9: I should go there when I was a little kid. I wonder I think they stopped that the year John Wallas here, I think they stopped the year before. 00:30:31 Speaker 2: I don't know what you're talking about. What's he talking about? 00:30:33 Speaker 3: It was like a benefit charity game who versus who, like old old UK players against like police officers. 00:30:40 Speaker 2: Oh okay, gotcha, all right? Anything else? 00:30:43 Speaker 9: Yeah, Chuck hay Yeah, Chuck Hayes was there. I forget the name Peterson. I think it's his name. Patrick Patterson met him a couple guys. 00:30:54 Speaker 2: All right, well, I appreciate the caud I didn't know they did that old UK players versus police officers. We know these the police officers couldn't have won. 00:31:01 Speaker 3: No, but yeah, I think a lot of fans missed those old barnstorming tours and games. Remember you did it for a couple of years. 00:31:07 Speaker 2: I did it, my goodness. 00:31:09 Speaker 3: I think fans love that. 00:31:11 Speaker 2: You want to talk about an absolute cluster. That's another thing. Man, Like I just jumped feet into things. I don't really know what I'm doing. And when Ramel and Joe were seniors, Remel was like, nobody's doing a barnstorming tour. And I was like, I got it, we can do it, we can do it. And I scheduled like ten dates around the state. Me, Ramel, Joe, Wu and Bobby Perry would get in my car. Joe would take his nasty shoes off and his feet everywhere, and I drove the four of them around the state with Johnny, Bruce and Hubby and then we'd have to pick up somebody for every game, so we had Brandon stocked him for a couple We had gave him Accreary County, which was supposed to be Matt Heisenbuddle, but he canceled. So the Turkey Hunter just played and called himself Matt His and Buddle and Shannon. 00:32:01 Speaker 1: Nobody wanted different difference. 00:32:03 Speaker 2: No one knew like he signed Matt Heisenbuddle's name, gave auto he gave autographs, says Matt His and Buddle. So we would get there and me and Ramel and Joe, and the thing is it was all cash. We didn't have a way to do credit cards. So at the end of the night we just have this huge stack of cash be like which I mean for the time, I'd never seen these stacks like five thousand, eight thousand, ten thousand dollars, and we just divided up and then literally just think about all these like twenty dollars bills and we just sit in the locker room and count them up and hand them up. And then Ramel and Joe, who got the biggest as they would call him stacks because they were the main draws. They would then chase each other around like children and hit each other in the head with their stacks of money like. That was when I realized, you know this Ryan, how young, like how much like they're still kill kids. There's still kids. I mean. Ramel would literally just hit Joe in the back of the head with the money and be like, my stack's bigger than yours. And it was the same amount of money one of them. It was a lot of fun. I had more fun doing that than than I love those guys Rommel. That's part of why I love him. WU Like we had such a good nun. 00:33:26 Speaker 3: Didn't one of the guys leave their stack at gold Star Chili or something? 00:33:28 Speaker 2: We went to Skyline in Cincinnati and they were eating with their stack of four thousand dollars on the table. I said, you're gonna get us killed, exactly. You can't just have four thousand dollars like just laying on a table. Some school to huh some school still not Central never paid me there we go not till Adam. Probably not the same leadership now, but they're frustrating corn brad hip. That's what cool. You're gonna have to start using it. 00:34:02 Speaker 3: I took a cornbread hip last night. Try to get some sleep. If I'm nine two twenty two eighty seven, I just put out that picture of the claw so I would have it. 00:34:43 Speaker 3: How did they go to print with that one guy completely being blocked out? You can't see anything on his face, ad so. 00:34:48 Speaker 2: Much hair back then like it was. Why didn't somebody not tell me about those bangshin? 00:34:54 Speaker 1: I think they tried to tell you. 00:34:56 Speaker 2: My mom did. Yeah, I wish I had that. That was not a tough look and all. Okay, a couple of things here. First of all, Jake and Quainton's passes drivers test. 00:35:06 Speaker 3: Good for him, right, got his driver's license. 00:35:08 Speaker 2: That's good. That's good. 00:35:10 Speaker 5: Sister Jean is one hundred and six years old to day, way to go one hundred and six. 00:35:16 Speaker 3: I wonder if she'll tweet today. 00:35:17 Speaker 2: She should, she gotta, she needs to tweet on her birthday. 00:35:21 Speaker 1: She's probably sleeping in the day. It's her big day. 00:35:23 Speaker 2: One hundred and six years old. Amazing. 00:35:26 Speaker 3: I didn't know she's still alive. 00:35:27 Speaker 2: Good for her, one hundred and six amazing that is that is quite an accomplished May we all be so lucky? 00:35:34 Speaker 1: Am in she's tight with the Lord? 00:35:36 Speaker 2: She clearly Yeah, she's probably lived alone for a long time. 00:35:41 Speaker 1: No, I can get in from her since she's probably got somebody with her. 00:35:46 Speaker 2: Yeah, I bet she's probably. I mean, she was a nun, so she probably spent a lot of her life alone. 00:35:50 Speaker 1: Maybe, but at one hundred and six, I'm sure. 00:35:54 Speaker 2: Yeah, Now she may not. Mark Anthony, go ahead, Mark Anthony. 00:35:59 Speaker 4: Hey, Matthew, Ryan Shannon Hey, y Oh, nuns lived together at the nunnery. Matthew, That's all I know. When I was raised Catholic, So anyway, uh, speaking about cracker barrel, Uh. They can put up change of signs all they want to, but until they fix their food, they're not helping them. 00:36:15 Speaker 2: See, everybody keeps writing me in saying that the food quality has gone down at the cracker barrel? Is that true? 00:36:21 Speaker 4: I'm terribly terrible man. Me and miss Boot stopped by there all just a few weeks ago to grab some supper. And I got the meat loaf in the uh jab dumplins which used to be solid, And yeah, the meat loaf suck, absolutely stuck. 00:36:37 Speaker 2: So wait a minute, he shouldn't get the meat load. Oh no. 00:36:40 Speaker 1: The only reason to go to cracker barrels for the breakfast. I'm not going there for dinner. 00:36:44 Speaker 2: Uncle Hershel Right, I got a point. 00:36:46 Speaker 4: But hey, Shannon put me and the breakfast group that I have on Friday tried it a few times, and I tried to biscuit and gravy. They bring you a bowl of gravy that you poured at it looks like a bowl of old mashed potatoes goes shop. 00:37:02 Speaker 2: Well, maybe this is their chance. Maybe this is their way of saying, all right, we're re signaling, we're re getting the food going with. I've always thought the thing they did the best when they were rowing. I appreciate the call when they were rolling hash Brown cast that's the best thing. 00:37:16 Speaker 1: The menus amazing. 00:37:18 Speaker 2: Still, that was always really good. I always thought the biscuits and gravy were good. I thought they were good when they when they were there, like the country ham. 00:37:26 Speaker 1: Yes, that's what I got. 00:37:27 Speaker 2: That was always pretty good. So I always thought they did those three things really really good, and then they would do I would liked it because on non Thanksgiving you could get dressing. 00:37:37 Speaker 3: Yes, Billy Gilespie used to go to one of Newtown Pike just for turkey, And I. 00:37:40 Speaker 2: Was wondering, if you're going to say that Billy Gillespie ate at the one on Newtown Pike like three times a week, and I'm and was told he ordered Thanksgiving every time he went. 00:37:50 Speaker 3: Yeah, the turkey and dressing was like always on a thirst. 00:37:52 Speaker 2: Or turkey and dressing in cranberry. So yeah, I mean, is that weird to want to eat Thanksgiving every week? 00:38:00 Speaker 1: Every week? 00:38:01 Speaker 2: I love dressing. Dressing is good. I don't know why we got to the idea that we can only have dressing once or twice a year. 00:38:08 Speaker 1: Makes you want it more though, But it's so good. 00:38:11 Speaker 2: I think Billy was onto something on it. 00:38:14 Speaker 3: I was there, and he'd be in the corner by himself, by himself, yeah, and eat turkey and dressing. 00:38:18 Speaker 2: People can learn Pope's places. Remember John cal Perry's eat by himself placed with golden kraw. Yeah, he would eat it like four o'clock by himself at the Golden Crow and New Circle. Can you imagine walking in there and seeing John Calipers at the Golden Crowd Golden Crow with a big bowl of whipped cream. Yeah, he would eat. He would even dip his food in whip crew. 00:38:40 Speaker 3: That's right. I think Mark Pope's a lot like me. Can't stand to be by himself. I think he's a guy that wouldn't go eat by kill. 00:38:47 Speaker 2: Oh okay, so you don't think he would go. 00:38:49 Speaker 3: I think with his wife or his daughters or assistant coaches. He's somebody. I think it's gotta be social, have somebody with him. 00:38:55 Speaker 2: Yeah, Peggy, Peggy. 00:38:58 Speaker 6: Hey, good morning. As I just wanted to let you know that the crafts about the Country ham at State Fair and pay ten million dollars for it, I stop it. 00:39:10 Speaker 2: They did not pay. 00:39:11 Speaker 1: They paid ten and a half for a discount. 00:39:13 Speaker 3: This year they did ten million dollars. 00:39:19 Speaker 8: Uh huh and Ryan, I'll. 00:39:22 Speaker 2: Never understand the country, but go ahead. 00:39:26 Speaker 6: Ryan checked your messages. 00:39:27 Speaker 4: I left you a message because I'm in the. 00:39:30 Speaker 6: Opposite position position for you. 00:39:34 Speaker 2: Go away. 00:39:36 Speaker 3: Uh. 00:39:37 Speaker 6: I had to take in a border for you. 00:39:41 Speaker 4: Lost one. 00:39:43 Speaker 2: Well he'll read it. I appreciate it. Peggy, thank you very much. Let's go to Noah. Go ahead and Noah. 00:39:50 Speaker 10: Hey, hey, Matt, got a two part kind of question for you. So a little bit similar to one of the other callers. You guys remember like the UK alumni charity games that Caliberry would usually bring in like his recent form, or like NBA players and have matches they play together. It's like a UK charity event. 00:40:10 Speaker 3: Yeah, say that again, like when Klib bringing some of these former players that have played a couple of charity games. 00:40:15 Speaker 2: Yeah, they did a couple of those. 00:40:16 Speaker 10: Yes, yes, So with the kind of stuff from that, obviously, right now, Mark Pope is only from had one year, so obviously there's not a lot of fish in the pool together for it. But one, do you think this is something that Pope could be able to try to be like create for the future or is this something that like. 00:40:33 Speaker 2: Yeah, it's hard. It ended up being hard, Like they did it that first year for some sort of raising money for some issue. I can't remember what it was. Was it a flood or something. And then the problem, not the reason that ended is it was they found the players couldn't get insured anymore. Because I appreciate the calls, so the guys, the NBA guys, no one would ensure them, and so their agents would not allow them to do it right. So that's why they ended up stopping doing so. You know, I'd love for them to do it, but I think it's probably like you're just worried about getting hurt, and so that ends up not happening. All right. Tomorrow we are at Daughters of the America. No it's not. It's not Daughters of the American Revolution. It's Volunteers Volunteers of America in Louisville on Breckenridge Street. Come see us. They've got to have all kinds of things. See their new facility will be there in Louisville. Great chance for people in Louisville to come see us. Those of you coming to the Listener dinner tonight, we look forward to seeing you. Uh, and then for everybody else, hope you have a great day. It's been a wonderful afternoon hanging there. Night two will be easier than night one, I hope. 00:41:43 Speaker 3: So I want to cry myself to sleep every night, wondering what he's doing. 00:41:49 Speaker 2: And with that, let me come home. It's a KSR.
