TGI – Episode 505 “The Witches of Pennbrook”
It’s time for another Halloween episode - this season with two very special guest stars and two main characters possibly dying in a plane crash.
The gang might not recognize their archetypes anymore, but this episode spawned a ton of memes, and you couldn’t ask for a better legacy than that.
We thumb through “Witchcraft for Dumb Dumbs,” while a new girlfriend makes for a Full House between Eric and Jack, and Topanga gets into the cockpit of a airplane…with absolutely no training.
We’ll try to get through the recap without speaking in tongues - it’s a very witchy, holiday episode of Pod Meets World!

00:00:18 Speaker 1: So we, obviously from our dear listeners, get a bunch of a bunch like hundreds, if not thousands, of really awesome emails, and producer Jensen, husband of this podcast, goes through them all painstakingly reads every single one, sends us the ones that are you know, great, that kind of stuff. And we got one last week that changed writer in my life a little bit. And I just want to talk about it because they're so excited where Wizards of the Coast saw us playing magic the gathering and want to send us a whole bunch of magic. 00:00:53 Speaker 2: Cards, free stuff. This is why we do this, ladies and gentlemen, why we do I was like, what else can we talk about? What else can do an episode about? Till I get freeze? 00:01:04 Speaker 3: I want to go on the record, send Will and Writer all the stuff you want. Keep your away from me. 00:01:11 Speaker 2: You don't want like I want your products? No, I don't. I don't usually care about stuff. I don't like stuff in general. Cards Are you kidding me? Like, if I'm going to get any sort of access to Wizards of the Coast, the makers of dungeons and dragons, Yes, that is like the one thing and the other thing let's see what. 00:01:30 Speaker 3: I would send a pillow and because I'm a sleeper, so it's the greatest. I love my pillow cube. I don't know what I would do without my pillow cube. As a matter of fact, traveling has become so uncomfortable for me because the pillows everywhere we go stink. 00:01:47 Speaker 1: Is it actually like a cube? 00:01:49 Speaker 3: A little bit? It is cube because I'm a side sleeper, and so this to fill the space between your shoulder and your neck. Round pillows don't make a lot of sense, and you end up kind of squishing them and trying to get it. This is it's perfect. It is perfect. 00:02:05 Speaker 1: It fills in the nook of my neck. 00:02:07 Speaker 3: Amazing, not an ad. I just love the pillow cube. But they did send it to me. And so if you have anything, Oh and I also my imask. 00:02:15 Speaker 2: Okay, so there's stuff more slip. 00:02:17 Speaker 3: Stuff, if there's any. If you have if you make melowtonin, if you make just you, if you make castlets, I would take one. If you if you sell plots of for where to be buried, if you sell plots of land grapes, Oh. 00:02:37 Speaker 1: My god. This is so different than magic, the gathering cards and by the way, I'll take all. 00:02:41 Speaker 2: They and we'll never throw it away. 00:02:44 Speaker 1: Oh no, And even if it's stuff that has it's like it means nothing to anybody, but I will still take it out. 00:02:50 Speaker 2: I get the books. I get books because I did literary Disco for two cares some I'm on some publishing lists and it's amazing. Oh yeah, you know, half the time, it's not something I'm really that interested, right, But I do get a lot of books, which is great. Yeah. I don't know what else I would want, because I don't really like having too much stuff in life. I'm magic cards are great. 00:03:09 Speaker 1: Magic is a great way to start, and I'm just so curious as to what cards they're gonna send, Like are we gonna get boxes? Like, oh my god, I'm I won't even be able to fall asleep on a pillow cube thinking about this all night, of the cards we're going to get. 00:03:22 Speaker 3: You would if you had a pillow cube and a Manta Iye sleep mask and a unis and a melotonin. 00:03:27 Speaker 2: Really, what is the best thing that you've ever been given? 00:03:32 Speaker 1: I don't know what's the best thing I've ever been given, because I've been given some cool stuff, but I've never not to the extent of like companies going, we want to give you stuff. 00:03:40 Speaker 2: Well, but when you've done your characters like voices, don't you get like the character toys and all. 00:03:45 Speaker 1: That if you go buy them they? I mean, very very rarely, dude. I mean there's times where I would go, I go through the drive through McDonald's and you can just buy the toys. I don't. I'd often get a burger as well, but you can just get the toys. And it was like I'd get to two sets of Kim Possible toys because you'd want to open one and display it and keep the other one nice and packed away. Kim Possible was in McDonald's. Oh yeah, we did Kim Possible. Batman Beyond was in McDonald's. Let's Guardians of the Galaxy did a McDonald's toy. So can you do. 00:04:11 Speaker 3: Another one that's in McDonald's now so that I can participate. 00:04:15 Speaker 1: I think there might be one coming out that's yeah, okay, don't talk about it yet, but but yes, it's it's so oh my god. Somebody once gave me like hundreds of dollars worth of I think it was McDonald's heard that I was a big fan and I got like hundreds of dollars with McDonald's gift cards. 00:04:29 Speaker 2: That was amazing. I think the best perks still is the Disneyland access. Yea, when we were on the show and we could have like the ability to go to Disney World and Disneyland and not have to wait in the line. That still is like the coolest thing in the world because it feels like you you just feel like you're in the coolest club. You're like, oh my gosh, I am at the happiest place on earth with all this fun stuff, and like I'm behind the scenes and like getting to skip the line and you it's so, do you think we can wrangle a Disney World trip like that? 00:04:58 Speaker 1: Because I'm still o to freaking Disney World trip. I honestly possible. 00:05:01 Speaker 3: We should do one. We should just do one, even if we don't do it for we should do for the podcast. We should do a pod meets disney World meets Disney World, and we can do podcasts from there, and we should take our families. 00:05:17 Speaker 2: So what do we do? We just we just walk around Disney World with a. 00:05:21 Speaker 3: Similar to the way we did the Sleepover week. We would do a Disney World things that you know, focus around those, do some minisodes around Disney World, and and we're. 00:05:32 Speaker 2: Gonna want us to do this. 00:05:34 Speaker 3: They're not gonna. They're not gonna be involved. 00:05:37 Speaker 2: If they call them. 00:05:40 Speaker 1: They could call us and say come and we'll back door you and do everything and do your show here. 00:05:44 Speaker 2: They could do that. 00:05:45 Speaker 3: They do not want to get back there, but they keep. 00:05:49 Speaker 1: You go back and the rides crazy people. 00:05:52 Speaker 2: Keep it, keep it, keep it, can do get back our hands in the in the cement that they did it multiple times and they never kept her months. 00:06:03 Speaker 1: No, it's great because they what you do is you put your hands in, which then seals your hands in. You are completely and totally trapped, and then they backdoor you. 00:06:09 Speaker 2: Disney the way that we're not care about us. We are too old. 00:06:11 Speaker 1: They're like, what, please please stop contacting us. 00:06:16 Speaker 2: Just call Sabrina Carpenter and she'll do it if she can. If she does it with us, Disney will pay for everything. I'm just sure her. It'll be like, we'll just have her on the podcast and. 00:06:24 Speaker 4: They might want us there where Disney old school, they might want us. 00:06:28 Speaker 1: I know it's gonna cost for Disney thousands of dollars. 00:06:31 Speaker 2: They don't even know we exist anymore. 00:06:33 Speaker 1: It's gonna cost us each ten thousand dollars to get five minishows for this world. 00:06:39 Speaker 3: But will will feel good about myself. 00:06:41 Speaker 1: What's in my life? 00:06:43 Speaker 2: You must work for Disney all the time? Still will write for voiceover stuff. 00:06:46 Speaker 1: Yeah, I do some Disney stuff. And we did the we got the perk for d twenty three. Remember we went with Indy and it was a ton of fun and Daniel couldn't make it and we had We had a blast. 00:06:55 Speaker 3: And they don't as a director. They don't care you're an old person yet they like, no one cares about the director. No one's going to be stopping the director. 00:07:05 Speaker 2: So didn't you just go to Disneyland? 00:07:07 Speaker 3: I did? Yeah, And we just did it like Normis, just like Pleaves civilian. Yeah, we just we just had tickets and we I wore a hat and took pictures with people in the restroom and we sweated all over as. 00:07:24 Speaker 1: Every time, do they know you're taking pictures of them in the restroom anymore? Because that was the thing he used to do. Are you still do they know that you're clicking pictures of them in the restroom? What's favorite thing back in the day. It is just taking random pictures of people in restorps. 00:07:44 Speaker 5: No never. 00:07:47 Speaker 2: Loves the back door. 00:07:51 Speaker 1: Is guaranteeing We're never going to Disney property. Ever, we were there. 00:07:56 Speaker 3: We found out we were there on the same day as Nicholas Cage, and apparently Nicholas Cage hads of security. 00:08:01 Speaker 2: I was I was just wandering walking around, going on the matter horn. 00:08:06 Speaker 1: We were doing Rider and I were doing our Nick Cage impressions of him at Disney yesterday, just at your party, just going like, yeah, trying to find a happy kingdom like stuff. 00:08:17 Speaker 2: Dude, is awful impression. 00:08:18 Speaker 1: That was great. 00:08:20 Speaker 3: Welcome to Pod Meets World. I'm Daniel fishl. 00:08:22 Speaker 1: I'm Rider Strong, and I'm Wilfordell. 00:08:36 Speaker 3: Today we are recapping season five, episode five, The Witches of Penbrook. It originally aired October thirty, first, nineteen ninety seven. Episode The synopsis Jack puts girls in front of a friendship when he falls for a girl named Millie. Eric soon discovers that the girl is a witch, but Jack is in too deep to see the truth. This puts the two at odds. Meanwhile, to Panga overcomes her fear of flying when she and Corey travel to Pittsburgh. It was directed by Alan Myerson. It was written by Stephen Hibbert. Uh overall thoughts before I jump into our guest cast. 00:09:18 Speaker 2: I don't know what this show is. I don't know, you don't know. I just don't know what what Boyban's world is anymore. I'm so lost. I no idea what to expect it. 00:09:30 Speaker 1: You liked it just because it's a romp. It was fun. There were actually funny moments, so it was like, finally I was laughing again, So it was like, okay, yeah, yeah, me too. I laughed. I thought I thought you were really funny in this episode. Rider Frankly, Oh, I know you really were. Yeah, so sure. 00:09:47 Speaker 2: But I just I just had no idea. I'm just like, what is this show? 00:09:50 Speaker 3: What is? 00:09:51 Speaker 1: Where are we who? It's a weird Halloween show, That's all it was. 00:09:54 Speaker 2: Yeah, I guess I'm just so lost. I'm so confused by And. 00:09:57 Speaker 1: A lot of memes came from this episode. Really, yeah, there's several memes from this episode, So that that was. 00:10:03 Speaker 2: You know, what did you think, Danielle? 00:10:05 Speaker 3: I did laugh a couple of times. I thought there were a few moments where of course. Will really made me laugh, Like Will said writer, I thought, you're you're very much like, yeah, of course she's a witch. I'm gonna go help the coven. I thought that part was very funny. Confident Sean and knowing absolutely, like reading the room really well and being like, oh yeah, but we're just in for it. Cool, it's witches. I thought that was very funny. Did Ben have finals in this way? 00:10:37 Speaker 1: He must have, And in his first scene it's like someone had just handed him the scene. 00:10:42 Speaker 3: I know it was. I was thinking, like, it feels very for him to be for us to be the b storyline, and then for it to be you know, well we die, we you know, we die in the episode. Obviously we never have seen again after a plane goes down. 00:10:55 Speaker 2: Only two scenes, right, I think no more than that? 00:10:59 Speaker 3: Three maybe three? 00:11:00 Speaker 1: Three yeah, maybe three, because they have her flying the real guys to Pittsburgh, Like is that a well, yeah, from Philly to pitt I mean you could. They'd have these little puddle jumpers which would be like a size yeah, be the it'd be the thirty or forty five minute flight for business people or whatever. I think that's probably a regular thing. 00:11:19 Speaker 2: I just don't understand. No, what is happening? What does this have to do with the show? 00:11:24 Speaker 1: Shows different? The show's different now, and we just have to go don't. 00:11:27 Speaker 2: Know anybody, I really don't. I don't know. 00:11:29 Speaker 1: We're all different. We're all different. Yeah, like literally, we're all different. It's very weird. Something happened between four and. 00:11:35 Speaker 2: Five, and it's just trying so unfocused compared and I guess what is so What was always so great about the last four seasons is the intense focus The Boy Meets World has for a sitcom, you know, for a children's comedy show. We were always so focused and so driven by character, and we just aren't in this season, like I mean, I guess there was the attempt with the Jack storyline that was really intense and like lots of drama, and then ever since, it's just been I don't know where we are, I don't know who anybody is. It's a it's a disorienting feeling. 00:12:10 Speaker 3: I completely agree with you about all the episodes for season five. The one thing I'll say for this episode is it is the Halloween episode. Halloween, and obviously they had stunt casting between Candice Cameron and Melissa Joan Hart, and so they built a Halloween themed ROMP around them and then just filled in for other stuff. So I think this episode is one that technically we should be able to remove from the rest of them and say, let this one stand on its own, like. 00:12:45 Speaker 1: A Scream episode. 00:12:47 Speaker 2: We did the Scream episode this same season, right, so this was the Halloween episode, but we all sort of associate the Scream with corrupt Halloween. 00:12:54 Speaker 1: I think the next episode is also we go to World War two in the next episode, so we're just we're we are. It's kind of off the rails a little bit and against no focus. This would have been a really fun one off romp. If the first four episodes we saw were regular boy MutS world focused episodes, then this would have been like, oh my god, great breath of fresh air, and exactly it was just fun and crazy. But it's another just kind of strange episode. 00:13:19 Speaker 5: Again. 00:13:20 Speaker 1: I liked it because at least it was funny, but. 00:13:22 Speaker 2: I wonder how much of it is because the show was like finally kind of a hit. Like I wonder if if our writers were just sort of like, we kind of fun now we don't have to like marry stories. 00:13:35 Speaker 3: It's also interesting that after the first season the boy of Boy Meuts World was very much Ben Savage, Season two, three, and four were very much about Eric and Sean, and then and Eric and Sean, and now season five is Jack. Like every episode is focused on focused on some relation to Jack. 00:13:58 Speaker 2: Is that true? 00:13:58 Speaker 1: No? 00:13:58 Speaker 3: I mean, yeah, the first two episodes are about the brothers, your relationship to Jack and this new brother, and then the. 00:14:07 Speaker 2: Last two with the Dean stuff, as you know, that was more driven by Will Brewer. 00:14:11 Speaker 3: Yes, sure, but their friendship is kind of the focus of that of the of that main storyline, and now this one the girlfriend is a girlfriend of Jack and Will. Yeah, and Will's the kind of the Yeah. I don't know. It's just interesting. It just seems like so much focus on season five on this new Jack. 00:14:33 Speaker 1: I think they were really pushing him. He was the hot young teen heart throb and you know there I've seen some publicity photos recently from season five and it's all you know, it's like Matt and then us around him is so they were really trying to launch I think him on our show. 00:14:49 Speaker 2: It's just it's so interesting because like we've also just aged up so much that it's just like there's no sense of like because in this episode there's really like the educational like life is hard and I'm a boy meeting the world or we're teenager, Like it's just gone. It's just like situation girls. But you know, and I wonder how. I guess that's just the show aged up, right, Like we just got older and it just becomes like normal. I don't know, but I miss the like life lesson in the vibe of like this, you know, and now it's just kind of a sitcom with some characters that maybe are recognizable as the characters that we used to move. 00:15:27 Speaker 1: It's Daniel's right, though. I think this one in particular, we can kind of take out Achan. 00:15:31 Speaker 2: And then the next one we can we can also, and then we'll go back and then and then and then we do the Casablanca episode, and then the Scream episode, we can take that. And yeah, there'll be a few, no, I mean, we have to get I mean, this is the season where Trina, you know, so the Shawn. 00:15:45 Speaker 1: And so hopefully that'll get stared yet and that has to be a. 00:15:49 Speaker 3: Storyline with real character and focus, so exactly, so I'm looking forward to that me too. So guest starring Melissa jone Hart with a cameo was her iconic character Sabrina Spellman from the TGIF cleanup hit Sabrina the Teenage Witch. She also played the titular character Clarissa and Clarissa Explains It All, starred in the movie Drive Me Crazy, and appeared in the Britney Spears music video for You Drive Me Crazy. As the TikTok video says, She's an icon, She's a legend, and she is the moment. And then we have Candas Cameron as Millie, best known as DJ on almost two hundred episodes of full House, another legendary ABC family sitcom. She would later reprise the role for Fuller House on Netflix and recently appeared in and produced the movie Unsung Hero. Two Big Time ninety stars in this episode, with ABC getting their synergy on. I assume this was a big episode for Boy Meets World, like the fact that we were going to have both of them. It probably had a lot of buzz. 00:16:48 Speaker 2: Yeah, it's interesting. I wonder what happened first, Like, because it's a witch themed episode, I would assume that Melissa was the first right get and then they decided to do a witch or was it that they decided to do a witch themed episode and then it was like, oh and we could also get Melissa in here, Like it's I mean, melan. 00:17:07 Speaker 1: I talked about this. She was there for like five minutes. I mean, came in one time and then bounced, So it's you know, I mean she didn't do audience stuff or anything like that. 00:17:16 Speaker 3: Where did this fall in your friendship with her? Will? 00:17:20 Speaker 1: I mean again, we'd known each other for Nickelodeon, since Nickelodeon days, and then we you know, had done had just done a whole bunch of stuff for Disney together. So I mean, yeah, we'd known each other by this point for probably fifteen years, ten ten years years. 00:17:32 Speaker 2: I wonder how long Sabrina had been on at this point. Was it in its second or third season, because it was after us that it started. 00:17:38 Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't know, probably probably second or third. Yeah, because it's like. 00:17:42 Speaker 2: I never I just remember knowing that that show existed, that it was the big hit, and that we were like just barely staying alive. And then I remember like when the cat came on our show, I was like, wait, wait, there's a there's a talking cat on that one right, yes, like, yeah, what is? 00:18:00 Speaker 1: What is? 00:18:00 Speaker 2: And I've never so I've never seen an episode of Sabrain. I just remember working with a cat and being like, what is what is this show? That's a huge hit. 00:18:07 Speaker 3: Sabrina the Teenage Witch started in ninety six, so this is ninety seven. It's maybe it's their second season. 00:18:12 Speaker 2: Yeah and there Yeah, so that's a huge hit. Yeah. 00:18:15 Speaker 3: So then we have Christopher Wheel as Dexter. He played Horny Guy in the movie Can't Hardly Wait and has appeared on TV shows like Jericho, Private Practice, Chicago, Justice, and Revenge. He's still working seen just this year on the show Going Home, and he wrote a book entitled Trying to Walk Like a Man, The Chris Wheel Playbook. In two thousand and eight, doctors discovered a brain tumor next to the auditory nerve in his right ear, and it leaked brain fluid out of his nose and nearly killed him. 00:18:46 Speaker 6: Oh my god. 00:18:48 Speaker 2: So that's what his book is about. 00:18:49 Speaker 1: That's what his book is about. 00:18:50 Speaker 3: In the book, he tells the story of his difficult recovery where he had to learn to walk again, and his return to acting and then uncredited as the Dinosaur on Phoene's doorstep on Halloween is former child actor Jason Madison. Jason has gone on to become a prolific South Central LA based music video director who also goes by the name j Skills. He's created with rappers like Dom Kennedy YG and the late Nipsey Hustle, and he was a rapper himself as well. Here is a small snippet Dang, I don't. 00:19:31 Speaker 2: Want be to want to complain, but instead of Coppon Chains will rather grab me your frame. 00:19:35 Speaker 1: Man. It's saying bottle, pay out the game, don't kick. They pushed right in the prame. 00:19:41 Speaker 2: Got a tats for my name, pictures in the pot. 00:19:43 Speaker 1: I'm saying I'm theer one. He's toasted. I'm posted riding with my loafs on toasted right down. 00:19:50 Speaker 2: Pico might give me a sicko. 00:19:53 Speaker 3: So he was the dinosaur. 00:19:57 Speaker 2: How did we make this connection if he's uncredited, you honestly. 00:20:02 Speaker 3: Didn't spot that child and literally. 00:20:06 Speaker 2: Solid kid and was like I know this. 00:20:08 Speaker 5: Wait, I didn't see the kid and say that's the guy. I always run searches for names, even for uncredited actors, and he was Nipsey Hustles made. 00:20:16 Speaker 3: How could you run a name for someone uncredited Jensen because he was. 00:20:19 Speaker 5: You get all the uncredited as well. I see all the actors who were basically on a on a sheet to be called Wow. 00:20:25 Speaker 1: By the way, I had not heard of a single rapper that you mentioned. 00:20:28 Speaker 7: No, I don't know not yg No, yeah, oh my gosh, very very unhipped, I. 00:20:39 Speaker 2: Mean, and nipsey hustle just sounds like some bad like surgery that you have to get because you have an extra nippler. You know. 00:20:53 Speaker 1: That's a. 00:20:57 Speaker 3: Jumping into our recap. We start in Guy's apartment. Eric admires himself in the mirror, yelling out, Jackie, come on, we've got a club full of pretty ladies waiting for us. I think this is the first time you've called him Jackie. 00:21:08 Speaker 1: I thank her too, Yes, so Jack says, I don't think. I don't know. No thing ever happens again. 00:21:17 Speaker 3: Jack says, just go without him. He's not the best at clubs. Eric, siye, one word. You're with me. And we did this joke already where you say it's a certain number of words and it's not that many words. So is that a runner? Do you keep doing that? 00:21:30 Speaker 1: Do we? I think we've done that twice. Yeah, okay, we'll see. We'll see what happens again. Daniel didn't see what did you count? Did? 00:21:40 Speaker 3: I did not see. 00:21:42 Speaker 1: I knew. 00:21:44 Speaker 3: You said, Danielle didn't see. I knew what must have happened. Jack knows he's the new guy in town, so he just has to tag along. Eric ashers him. You don't just tag along, now, get behind me. Jack is uncomfortable picking up girls. Eric rubs his hands together, watch and learn. Then he gets all up in Jack's face, making a goofy face. He's loving him with his eyes. The ladies love it. They walk out into the hallway and Jack asks. 00:22:10 Speaker 2: Will in his prime, like, I'm just as everything everything's but they're just relying on it so much because there's not not much else going on, Just like wind will up and let him go. 00:22:26 Speaker 1: I also wish, going back looking at my performance, I wish I was picking and choosing my moments a little better as opposed to just everything's a bit, you know, It's. 00:22:34 Speaker 2: Like I want, like I said, there's nothing else to do, Like there's nothing else going on. There's no comedy in this other than making it a funny voice, making it a funny face. I mean, think about that bit, Like the joke is written as he makes a face. Like in the script it says like he makes a face to get the ladies, and that's just let's let will do something. They don't have an idea, right, that's just something they put in the script and let you do it. And you probably did it differently every time or own spin on it, and you. 00:23:01 Speaker 1: Just yeah, I just wish it was I wish there was a little old Eric thrown in with whoever the new Eric is. The balance would have been better. Yeah. 00:23:09 Speaker 3: So the guys walk out into the hallway and Jack asks, if the ladies love it, why don't you have a girlfriend? Eric's eyes, he doesn't know. 00:23:16 Speaker 1: Even that if I just said, I don't know, but I didn't, it's I don't know, like it's a whole even that has to be a bit. It's like, oh, the writer. 00:23:25 Speaker 3: Said, if you said it earnestly, I don't know, it's not real funny and I don't know. Yeah, I mean, I love they are giving you much. 00:23:36 Speaker 5: But they're not. 00:23:37 Speaker 2: And the writers just loved it, you know, because they would write something that they're like, eh, that's a B minus and then you would laming it out of the park or and run there and they'd be like, oh that line works. I can't believe it's an A plus now exactly. It's like, well, actually is it? Or is it just will sell them the joke? 00:23:54 Speaker 8: Yeah? 00:23:55 Speaker 1: Is it? 00:23:55 Speaker 5: What was? 00:23:56 Speaker 2: What was the old thing? 00:23:56 Speaker 1: I think Michael used to say it to us. It's like there's things that are you things that are funny, and then funny things you say. 00:24:04 Speaker 2: I forget what it was. 00:24:05 Speaker 1: The idea of a joke is a joke, So there's things that are said funny and then funny things you say. I forget what the actual terminology was, but it was like, you know, something's written as a joke, and no matter how you say, it's going to be funny because it's a joke. And then there's things that aren't written to be funny, but they're said funny, so they become funny. I'm just saying funny what they were relying on you, right, instead of things being funny on the paper. 00:24:29 Speaker 2: So it's that's interesting. 00:24:31 Speaker 3: So coincidentally, a pretty girl, a bleach blonde bob having Candice Cameron, walks to the elevator and greets the boys. Eric walks up to her and is uncomfortably close move and stares right into her eyes. I'm Eric Allison Matthews perpace man personal space though my god, I know right up in her grill? Do we Is this the first time we hear your middle name is Alison? 00:24:52 Speaker 1: I think so, because I think it's also Neil at one point, right Neil and then somebody else. 00:24:57 Speaker 3: So yes, okay, So she backs away. You're the and we have campus escorts. Eric smiles, Yes, I am. She immediately knows who Jack is, claiming she likes to know who her neighbors are. She's Milly from three B and the runner of Hotties and three B continues. Eric asks, we're heading down to o'dooley's. Why don't you join us? She admits she's not much of a club person, and Jack says me neither. Millie touches Jack's arm. You're cute. She suggests that Jack shows her his apartment, and the inmates let out a big whoooo and Jack proudly says sure. 00:25:31 Speaker 2: And it turns out to be that she's like, you know, targeting him because he's Hunter. But this was really underwritten, Like I was like, can we just give her any reason to like Jack, like just a he says something he's cute, I know, but it's like, but you know they both take clubs. 00:25:49 Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, they both hake club I think there's enough there. I think they gave her enough of a reason to how much. 00:25:54 Speaker 1: You need to hook up with somebody when you're twenty I mean seriously to the fact that they live to each other is a night I don't know. 00:26:01 Speaker 2: Just something that makes sense, like behavior, and she thinks that's all they needed. Okay, But if the joke is that Eric thinks that he can get away with just being cute and in her face and that falls flat because she's more sophisticated, then you have to have the next beat should be Jack, is you know there's something to trigger like okay, yes, but instead it's she's just as bad as Eric. She falls for it's. 00:26:29 Speaker 3: Like so dumbing, like whatever right away that she's there because of the balcony. So it's not like we uncover that later. It's pretty much. 00:26:38 Speaker 1: There's no twist. She walks in and goes to the balcony. 00:26:43 Speaker 2: Just just the line, just the line. He says something that's like, oh, you know about Oduley's blah blah blah joke, and she goes, ah, you're funny. I like you. And then we're like, oh, there's there's intrigues, something might happen. Instead, it's so flat, it's literally like cut cut. 00:26:59 Speaker 3: Everybody is funny. Not everybody is funny, not everybody large anything, just character. 00:27:05 Speaker 2: Does Jack have character? 00:27:06 Speaker 3: He yes that he is a recluse who likes to be in his apartment and she is the same way. She goes, oh, you like to stay home and not go to clubs, me too, Get me inside your apartment. 00:27:18 Speaker 6: Sex. 00:27:19 Speaker 1: That's how it falcony sex, falcony sex. 00:27:23 Speaker 3: So Eric as the elevator doors closed, Eric screams, are you kidding me? And we go to a commercial break. Then we come back. We're back in the guy's apartment. Eric walks in, Hello, Hello, Hello, he's alone. Nobody's home. Pants off. 00:27:36 Speaker 1: That is a that's a meme. Bye bye pants is a mean by pirka. 00:27:42 Speaker 3: Eric takes off his pants, revealing happy face boxers. He pulls up the shades in the apartment for he's in his underwear. So, I don't know why I. 00:27:55 Speaker 1: Was about to put on a show. That's what was happening. 00:27:59 Speaker 3: Turning on your web cam. 00:28:00 Speaker 1: Exactly here we go. 00:28:04 Speaker 3: And we see Jack and Milly are making out on the balcony. Jack pulls away from his new love interest to ask Eric what he's doing home. Eric scoffs, they turned O'duley's into a Starbucks. I was into my third dance before I noticed, which is a. 00:28:17 Speaker 2: Very nineties joke. I know, like remember when like the it was like Starbucks are popping up everyone every co Starbucks around the across the street from the other Starbucks. Now it's like we just all accept that that's the reality that sets the super Targetarbucks. 00:28:36 Speaker 3: There's a Starbucks in the gas station. 00:28:39 Speaker 2: Nobody cares anymore. But that was a big problem. 00:28:42 Speaker 3: It was like yeah, yeah, Jack says he's sorry, Eric had a bad night, but he's with Milly. Oh my manners. Eric walks outside to say hello, And this is when I realized this has to be Ben Finals week. There's just it seems like there's no we don't get to Ben what you been doing fine years. 00:29:02 Speaker 1: Earlier midterms midterms maybe midterms, but so early in the just. 00:29:08 Speaker 3: Started in August and we went in September, so I don't think. 00:29:13 Speaker 2: It was okay, So wait, Candace Cameron was on ABC right? Full House was ABC? Was Full House still going at this point or. 00:29:21 Speaker 3: In ninety six? Yes, they were on for eight seasons, and I think it started in. 00:29:27 Speaker 2: Ninety The network was because, as far as I understand it, Matt came to us as a network choice because Brother We Love had just been canceled, and so the network was like, we want to give Matt Lawrence a job, put him on Boy Meets World, and then now we're getting Candace Cameron as like a special guest star. Like it feels like for whatever reason, either Boy Meets World like needed the boost of extra actors like to stay like what was I'm so cute. I want to talk to like an executive because there's was off the air. That's what I think. I think the show had been canceled, so they were like, well we got to get candas back or you know, like I feel like there was a there was a push or some kind of like network Yeah, there was like some push to like maybe they were developing a new show with just her and they wanted her to like have her own episode. It feels like a lot of. 00:30:24 Speaker 1: Again, if we go right from this episode to World War two, which is the crossover night with the Cat. They're trying something. 00:30:30 Speaker 2: That they're trying everything like, and I don't know if that's because our numbers were down or our numbers were up, and so they were loading us with things with people that they wanted to support, like we got to help our other show. We gotta, you know, help Candace and help Matt Laura. I don't know. It's like a weird, but it just doesn't feel like our show. It's just like all these other ingredients are coming in. 00:30:50 Speaker 6: Yeah. 00:31:02 Speaker 3: Well, we're out on the balcony now. Eric is still in his boxers. He greets Millie. I'm really glad you and Jack cooked up. He doesn't have a lot of friends here. Millie quickly threatens him, it's very important for me to have Jack. Don't get in my way. And then we just know, okay, she's bad. Spooky music plays as Eric hesitantly nods in agreement. 00:31:24 Speaker 1: We have a romp. 00:31:25 Speaker 3: Then we're still back inside the guy's apartment. Eric and Jack are stretching on the floor. Matt is quite limber. Excuse me, I very rarely your nose is in your feet, But if my horn was at my feet. I could have touted it with my tongue. I know, I look, look at the glimber you are now. Yeah, I know, unbelievable. 00:31:49 Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean yeah. 00:31:52 Speaker 3: Eric mentions that he's happy Jack met someone, but doesn't he find her a little freaky. Jack asks why because she chose me out of you. Eric didn't even think of that. Then the doorbell buzzes. Come in. We can't move. It's Millie carrying a breakfast tray. Jack runs up to say hi, and she says she was up all night thinking about him. She looks over at Eric. What's he doing here? Eric sarcastically responds, gee, I don't know. Mil I live here, and now she hates you. You love and mill and they love each other. They have keys, and this is like on some cult timeline. 00:32:31 Speaker 8: It is. 00:32:32 Speaker 1: I think anytime there's cults or witches involved, time moves differently. We need to know that, yeah, okay. 00:32:39 Speaker 2: Or alcohol or alcohol full on drug out, alcoholic within. 00:32:44 Speaker 1: I've never seen those episodes, so I can't wait to see those as my first time ever seeing those. I didn't watch it. I wasn't in blah blah blah. 00:32:51 Speaker 3: Min Millie suggests Jack and her eat the breakfast she made out on the balcony. Eric jumps in, too bad, so sad, You're gonna be eaten all by yourself. The two of them already have plans to run up the Rocky steps today. Milly turns to Jack. But I planned the rest of your life. I mean day. I thought we'd take a walk and then come back and sit outside and wait for dark. She kisses him in an attempt to ensorcell. Eric yell, stop, stop stop that we've been stretching for this jog since September. We're finally limber. Milly asks Jack, why is he attacking me? Jack warns Eric he's upsetting Milly and tells her I'd love to spend the day with you. Eric mocks him in a ridiculous tone. Just then, Sean rushes into the living room. He wanted to give them a big send off before the jog, and he pulls out Rocky beanies for them. 00:33:36 Speaker 2: Eric Sean going on the jog beanies, it's a very interesting. I love it, Like I actually kind of love that, Sean, But like why, like why am I know? Like why didn't I come out in a jogging? Like why am I not part of the trio. I don't get it, Like because you're. 00:33:56 Speaker 1: Still in high school. 00:33:57 Speaker 3: You're still in high school, and they're worried going to be that. People are going to think, are Corey and Sean not friends anymore? Like you belong to Corey, So even though you are friends with the college guys, but you're not. 00:34:12 Speaker 6: We do. 00:34:15 Speaker 3: Come on, we already talked about that. 00:34:18 Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm going to talk about it again. 00:34:22 Speaker 3: Eric thanks him and places one on his head, and then reveals Jack is no longer going. He chows Milly over him. Don't you see what she's doing to you, Jack, hugging you, holding you, kissing you. It's just wrong. Eric storms out, and Jack introduces Milly to Sean. Milly is pleasantly surprised to meet another hunter. She loves their balcony. The doorbell buzzes and Millie says. 00:34:41 Speaker 1: She's great, we have a balcony. 00:34:43 Speaker 3: I know. 00:34:43 Speaker 1: That was so funny. 00:34:45 Speaker 3: And then later when they come over, they want. 00:34:47 Speaker 1: To see it. He goes to see it too. 00:34:48 Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, they want to see The doorbell buzzes and Milly says it's her roommates. They want to see the balcony. She lets in a group of girls all dressed in black, like nineties goths, and. 00:34:59 Speaker 2: This is one of those times we you're like, just let them have lines. The fact that they can't signack. They're clearly extras who are like and I'm like hey, and they're like and it's like, it's so awkward. Just no, just pay them the extra five hundred dollars or whatever so they can be bumped up to sag actors and just let them in, like come on, wow. 00:35:19 Speaker 3: They file in, and Sean perks up, Hey, I want to see it too, And then we're still in the guy's apartment. Eric is lunching on popcorn watching Halloween Part nine. Every time is it? 00:35:31 Speaker 6: Yeah? 00:35:31 Speaker 1: Another screamy one? Yep? 00:35:33 Speaker 2: Isn't this funny? Because at this point Halloween nine like that was a joke, like the idea that there would be nine Halloween movies because they were probably only up to four or five, But of course there's actually like twelve now, yeah, fourteen, now, that's sure. 00:35:47 Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure the voiceover that's Jackie. I think, Oh, I'm pretty sure that's Jackie. Who did that? That's so fun? 00:35:53 Speaker 2: That's awesome. 00:35:54 Speaker 1: Yeah. 00:35:54 Speaker 3: Eventually Millie walks in and Eric screams at her too. Eric asks how she was able to get in, and she reveals that Jack made her a set of keys. 00:36:02 Speaker 2: Bug. 00:36:02 Speaker 3: Yeah. Jack appears to greet her as Eric says he needs to talk to him. Millie responds, fine, talk to him. He belongs to me. Now I do not understand that line at all. I don't get it. Fine, talk to him. He belongs to me. 00:36:17 Speaker 1: Now about Jack, So she says it to Eric. 00:36:23 Speaker 5: Eric. 00:36:24 Speaker 3: She says it looking at Jack, but she, I guess is addressing Eric. Right, Fine, talk to him. He belongs to me. 00:36:34 Speaker 1: Now Jack belongs to What she's saying is you can talk to him as much as she. 00:36:39 Speaker 2: Threatened. Yeah, but then the whole scene is always about her being threatened by. 00:36:43 Speaker 3: Right, Okay. So I just I was like, do we it's magic? Yeah? 00:36:48 Speaker 6: Okay, true. 00:36:50 Speaker 3: So she makes her way to the balcony. Jack remarks, she sure loves it on that balcony. And I noticed now the pizza art above the kitchen sink has been replaced good with an image of a bagel looking dish that has broccoli. 00:37:07 Speaker 1: On the side. 00:37:08 Speaker 2: Yeah, they were like something. 00:37:14 Speaker 3: By the way, the broccoli is covered in a sauce. It doesn't look It doesn't look like a healthy dish. It also doesn't really fully look like a bagel. It looks like it could be like a chicken. 00:37:25 Speaker 2: Joke that our art department was doing. We're just gonna keep swapping. 00:37:28 Speaker 3: Different I think the food art is going to change because I think that might save the season for us. Eric asks, you made her keys. Jack says yes, she's his girlfriend. Eric fires back, what's her last name? Jack, stumped, gets defensive, I don't have to answer that. Eric has trouble finding the words as to why he doesn't like her, but then he throws out mean, creepy, evil, cold hearted, and he finds that once you get started, they really just roll right off the tongue. Jack doesn't get it. He's happy. Eric shouts, you are not happy. You're just a sweet farm kid who picked up with the first pretty girl who flashed him a smile. Jack says he's from New York City and Eric retorts that town ain't so tough. 00:38:09 Speaker 1: Eric, that was cute. 00:38:11 Speaker 3: Eric reminds him he's just trying to look out for Jack and be a good friend. Jack responds, if your idea of being my friend is to stop me from having a girlfriend. Maybe you should just stick to being my roommate. They yell fine at each other a few times before Eric sits back on the couch and Jack leaves to join his girlfriend on the balcony. Eric screams at the movie again and again. This relationship now has been so rushed through these first we're now supposed to care a lot that they are deep friends as opposed to just roommates. 00:38:46 Speaker 1: Well, at this point they have spent more time together than him and Marsden. 00:38:50 Speaker 3: Yeah, sure that is. 00:38:52 Speaker 1: I mean, in the first five episodes, they're trying you now and no longer with Sean, like they've already pivoted off Sean. 00:38:59 Speaker 2: And the difference is when we met Marsden, he was an established character in Eric's life. We literally watched Eric and Jack meet, you know, so I think it's just like, yeah, but it's it's fine. I guess if the opening had been what's weird is like the idea of the two of you doing the run to the rocky steps is a better way to start, because that is like, oh, we had a plan as friends and it gets ruined by a girl, Whereas, like you literally opened the scene, we're going to get ladies. We're gonna go meet girls, and then he meets a girl and then it's a conflict. It's like, wait, like that you should have had some like guys night plan or some fun friendship thing and that would have established like oh, and then it's getting ruined by this. Really, but it's just so funny in the world of boy meets World, how quickly any relationship ruins male male friendship. It's just it's a threat. It's a threat to the order of life that a guy is going to get into a relationship with a woman and she is going to It's so it's such a trope that we hit on over and over, and it's from season one. It's always been a thing and I can't Yeah, I guess it just made sense to us all at the time. Yeah. 00:40:11 Speaker 1: It also though one of the things I'm realizing, and I think I kind of realized that as we were watching, as we were doing the show, but I'm really realizing it now, and I'm really realizing that it was actually a detriment to the character is there is no reason for Jack and Shawn to. 00:40:24 Speaker 2: Be brothers none. 00:40:26 Speaker 1: And if they didn't make them brothers, it could have been interesting to bring him into the world via Eric to then establish that relationship. That's what that relationship. 00:40:38 Speaker 2: Imagine. Also, if if you take away that he's Sean's brother, when you introduce him, you have to create a character because it's like, then he has a reason to be he's the rich guy or the smart guy or anything instead, because they relied on the Sean thing. It's like he has a reason to be there, and there's no character. Matt Lawrence has just given nothing. 00:40:59 Speaker 1: Yeah, but there's just no reason for you guys to be brothers, no, no, whatsoever. 00:41:03 Speaker 3: Well, then we're finally out of that set. We're in the Matthew's kitchen. To Panga and Corey, Yeah the b story to Panga and Corey walk downstairs and to Panga is excited You me and a weekend in Pittsburgh. Can you think of anything more romantic? Corey admits, Yeah, a weekend in Pittsburgh without your parents. Topenga says they'll have plenty of time alone. On their intimate drive up, Corey reveals there's not going to be any driving, and he throws two airplane tickets to steal Town on the counter. They'll be kissing twenty thousand feet above the ground to Penga is shocked. She hands the tickets back to Corey. There's no way I can fly. I'm morally opposed to it. Corey is surprised flying to Penga stutters, Oh, I thought you said hunting whales. 00:41:46 Speaker 1: I thought that was actually funny. That made me laugh. 00:41:48 Speaker 2: Totally know what's happening, though, in order to see somebody was like the pitches to Penga's scared of flying, right, so we have to create a situation where they're flying. 00:42:01 Speaker 3: Is Topanga and Corey You're going away for the weekend. Topanga's excited for a romantic weekend with Corey, but Corey is saying there's not enough time to be romantic on the drive because her parents are there. So he takes her flying. But the problem is to Pang is afraid of flying, Like. 00:42:16 Speaker 2: You think about the convolutions, the twists that you have to do to get to that, and. 00:42:21 Speaker 1: Then for what scene? 00:42:23 Speaker 2: What is the joke? I know to Penga's okay with flying, and Corey like, I just don't know. 00:42:27 Speaker 3: Well, the joke is that we die at the end. That's the whole thing is about conquering your episode to Panga flies the plane into the ground. 00:42:38 Speaker 1: About it's about conquering your fears. She has to conquer her fear to get there. That's what it is. And like any good bee story, it starts on page twenty. 00:42:48 Speaker 2: Like with a totally natural setup. 00:42:50 Speaker 1: Yeah, totally totally natural. 00:42:53 Speaker 2: Two high schoolers weekend get away on the plane, Yeah, to see one of. 00:42:57 Speaker 3: The high school's parents who lives in the away. So Corey realizes she's afraid to fly to Panga first denies it, but admits she's actually never been on a plane before. Corey doesn't believe it. Even horses go on planes. 00:43:12 Speaker 2: That's a funny line, and the hunting whales thing is it's also the more non secretary lines are. 00:43:19 Speaker 3: Yeah, Tapanga tells him, I'd appreciate it if you wouldn't make fun of me. Corey apologizes, then asks to discuss her fear of flying over dinner unless she's afraid of restaurants too, how dare he to? Pega pushes back, if you want to be insensitive, then you can eat alone. Corey reminds her, you used to think I was funny. Then we're back in the guy's apartment. Thank god, I missed it. 00:43:43 Speaker 2: Yeah, get us back to the coven. 00:43:46 Speaker 3: Millie is out on the balcony, candles all around her. She's waving scarves in the air as creepy music plays. She chants, Lord of Darkness, Ruler of the anguished, on all hallows eve, your work will be done. But there is one who stands in the way. Out of nowhere. Eric taps her on the shoulder. Hey, Millie, man, am I the one who's standing in the way. I thought that was very funny, funny. Milly asks how much he heard, and Eric shrugs, I heard you talking to Satan, which is also very funny. It's been very direct, which I appreciate. We hear Jack from inside. He's got pizza. Millie thinks fast and slaps Eric, just as Jack walks out onto the balcony. Eric shrieks in pain, and Millie shrieks he tried to kiss me. Jack calls Eric a creep and runs over to console her. Eric tells him she was talking to Satan. 00:44:33 Speaker 2: Seemed insanely intense to anybody else, I know, like first of all, slapping and then accusing him of like assaulting her, and Jack just okay, that's happened. You're a creep, like, no, call the cops like. 00:44:48 Speaker 1: You just what? Yeah? 00:44:50 Speaker 3: Also, though, yeah, there's too much to unpack. It's too much. It's just too much. 00:44:59 Speaker 1: Yeah Okay. 00:45:00 Speaker 3: Eric is sirious. He thinks Milly is a witch, and not a good witch like Glinda, but a bad witch like with the monkeys. Milly asks if Jack is going to allow him to talk to her like this. 00:45:10 Speaker 2: Wait, I don't get that reference with the monkeys, what does it mean? 00:45:13 Speaker 3: Like from Wizard of Oz last the Flying Monkeys got Jay pretties. Jack doesn't believe Eric. For the first time, he's doing something without him and he can't handle it. Eric assures him she doesn't belong to you, Jack, she belongs to Elda, which was an actual laugh out loud moment in our house, So very funny. 00:45:38 Speaker 1: Okay. 00:45:39 Speaker 3: Eric says Jack has to make a choice. It's either him or Milly. Eric cheeses it up. After he makes the ultimatum, Jack says Eric is just his roommate. Milly is much much more. Eric oblivious says, we're waiting. Millie gives him a death glare. He chose me, Eric asks, when after catching the drift, he states, I'm not moving out. Millie responds, it's up to you because I'm moving in. 00:46:04 Speaker 1: Whoa yeah from. 00:46:06 Speaker 2: Sexual assault roommates swapping. This is the levels. 00:46:10 Speaker 3: Of like this episode has it all it does. 00:46:13 Speaker 1: It's a banan episode. 00:46:15 Speaker 3: It's the witch Halloweenween episode. Lighten up, thunder those outside take a gummy or something. 00:46:27 Speaker 2: Here's what this episode should have been. Just Will in a room doing funny voices. Just just put Will, just put Eric in a room. The whole episode should have been a bottle episode of him watching Halloween nine and doing his scream and being funny and saying the room. And he could have done He could have played all these characters himself. Way better, Yes, so much better. 00:46:51 Speaker 3: Well, we're still in the guy's apartment. In case you were wondering, poor. 00:46:56 Speaker 2: Poor Will, I can't believe. Did you do you remember enjoy this episode? Will do you remember? Yes? 00:47:02 Speaker 1: He does? I do? I do I remember? 00:47:04 Speaker 2: Because you should have just yeah, because the whole thing is you're carrying everything. None of that makes any sense. Nobody's doing anything except you just keep being funny. 00:47:15 Speaker 1: If I did what if I saw myself do one more? Just mugging to the camera like or kind of thing I was gonna punch myself in the face, but it was. 00:47:24 Speaker 2: Only for this episode. 00:47:25 Speaker 4: Man, what else we have the b story? We got a great airlines story. 00:47:31 Speaker 3: Gosh. Okay, So Jack is helping Millie move in boxes is Eric judgmentally watches on sitting in the sink. Jack says, she's only staying for a few days. 00:47:41 Speaker 1: I'm sorry, I look like I'm taking a dump. That's all that it looks like is for some reason, I am just dropping some kids off right in the middle of the sink. Like no, It's like, what the hell? What kind of blocking is that? Will take a crap in the sink the rest of you standing? I mean, my god, it looks what he doing? 00:48:03 Speaker 2: Is he city in? 00:48:07 Speaker 1: It is the weirdest blocking. It's like, what the hell? 00:48:11 Speaker 3: Okay, so we just established that she's moving in and that came out of nowhere. Jack did not say that to her. She just said it out loud. And then in the scene, Jack says she's only staying for a few days because she's just having some trouble with her roommates. Eric sarcastically asks, what's the problem. They don't like evil. Eric tries to convince Jack again she is a witch, but Jack tells him to stop calling your names. Just then, Millie places a cauldron on their kitchen counter, but Jack explains it's Halloween. It sets the mood. Nearby, Sean asks one of the other witches. So, Rosemary, how's the baby? She walks away in disgusted. 00:48:52 Speaker 1: So I just. 00:48:52 Speaker 4: Random and weird and funny and yeah. 00:48:57 Speaker 3: Jack tells Eric we're going to be living together. Let's at least try to get along. Eric sarcastically asks where's she gonna sleep her beloved balcony and Jack admits actually yes. Eric is angry. I thought we were friends. I guess I was wrong. I'm just another name on your lease. He storms out, and Jack walks over to Sean in disbelief. He can't believe Eric is calling Milly a witch. Sean's surprised she's not. I assumed she was, at least that's what he's heard. Anyway, He's gonna go help the rest of the coven. 00:49:25 Speaker 1: True. 00:49:25 Speaker 3: He grabs a box. Oh, there's something breathing in here, which is very funny, super funny. Jack walks out to the balcony, where Milly is waving her arms around in a spooky fashion. He confronts her. I don't know your last name, and I'm okay with that, but there is something I need to know. Are you a witch? Milly calmly responds, I am. Does that bother you? Jack's never dated a witch before. Millie reminds him this isn't the sixteenth century witchcraft isn't spooky. It's just a belief. We do a lot of good. For instance, our Pittsburgh chapter works within her city kids. Jack's size and relief. He didn't realize that, Milli agro well, then maybe you should check, and then she quickly turns sweet again. You do what you have to do. Just know that no one will ever feel about you the way that I do. 00:50:09 Speaker 1: No one. 00:50:10 Speaker 3: Jack coos, I love you. Millie smiles, I know you do. Creepy music begins to play as Millie looks into his eyes. Tomorrow is October thirty, first Halloween. We're going to have a party. I'm going to introduce you to all of your new friends. We're going to have fun. Jack obviously hypnotized nods fun. That's a scene. That's a scene, that's a scene, that's what happens. 00:50:35 Speaker 2: Have fun. Just enjoy it. 00:50:37 Speaker 3: Didn't you there's gunnies and like booze. You know, I know you don't. 00:50:42 Speaker 2: Drink yellow or just hate yourself in the head a few times. That'll be nice if you hold your breath and spin around. The scene is amazing, it's so funny. It's so funny. 00:50:52 Speaker 3: Relax. Then we're on a tiny airplane, which I'll take. 00:50:56 Speaker 2: It's just a kids show. 00:50:57 Speaker 3: Stop taking seriously, you know those other eighty EPISO. He's covered that. We're good. They don't all have to be like that. No, it's good enough enough. 00:51:09 Speaker 1: I have literally nothing to say. 00:51:12 Speaker 3: Then we're on a tiny airplane to Penga is terrified. Please tell me this is the shuttle that takes us to the real plane. Corey assures her it's a real plane and a real airline. She asks how much she paid for the tickets, and he says twelve dollars. It's a good deal because they just got out of bankruptcy. 00:51:27 Speaker 1: I'm sorry this entire time because Danielle and I are are airline buddies. We sure are riders in the back with the luggage on a connecting flight from a different airplike. 00:51:37 Speaker 8: Well, I have connect exactly on the Red Eye in the back I got I was able to actually read in the bathroom, and so Danielle. 00:51:48 Speaker 1: I was just thinking the entire time that I'm you in this scene. This plane's too small. 00:51:54 Speaker 3: I don't have to Will's hand when there's turbulence. I see him make the sign of the cross. 00:52:03 Speaker 1: Yeah, it's the thing. But this is what I was thinking about the entire time. I know she's seen. 00:52:08 Speaker 3: This, I've seen this part before. She reminds him that this is her first fight. Please don't make jokes. Corey tries to ease her worries. A good plane is like a fine wine. It only gets better with age. The captain walks in, introducing himself as Captain Dexter Jorgensen. He explains, because of the nature of these smaller airplanes, he's going to have to redistribute some of the weight for takeoff. He tells Tapega she's perfect where she is, but needs Corey to move to a different part of the plane. Then we're still in the airplane. We're now in the air. Topanga is talking herself into a happy place. Bunnies, cute little bunnies, cute little bunnies and tiny crushing planes. Corey, please get over here. Now, Corey reminds her he has to wait for the ding. The Captain then remembers oh ding, which is also very very funny, so as he moves next to Topanga, he says, we've definitely learned one thing. You are not a good flyer. Tapega shoots back, and you are going to make a very insaneitive husband for somebody else. Tapanga puts on headphones to distract herself. Meanwhile, the Captain turns to Corey. You're Eric Matthews's brother. I went to school with Eric. 00:53:09 Speaker 1: Say hi to him. 00:53:10 Speaker 3: Corey asks the captain if he meant he was Eric's teacher. The captain laughs, no, Eric used to tutor me smart kids. Your brother. I wish I had his brains. I wouldn't be doing this good bit. Corey and Topanga are both horrified, and then we're outside Phoene's house. Morgan, dressed in a princess outfit, is trick or treating with friends. She begs Pheene for a piece of candy, but he's decided to hold his basket in the air, preventing them from grabbing any Say, trick or treat, it's the rules, Morgan half heartedly says it and Phoene says, say it with vigor, like you mean it. Morgan gives her most enthusiastic trick or treat, and Phoenie finally lets down the basket. He gives them each a pocket for the sas the kid's boo, so Phoenie adds and some candy. The kids happily run along. As Eric appears, he asks if he can crash at Phoene's tonight. Phoene says no, why he's sure Phoene's heard it a million times. Jack's girlfriend is a witch. She speaks to the devil and apparently I'm standing between her and the doorway to hell. Eric complains that it's Halloween, the one holiday that's supposed to bring loved ones together. Phoene assures him that their friendship is strong enough for this, but Eric argues that girls aren't supposed to get in the middle of friendships. He doesn't know why he's letting the spug him so much. Phoene says, if Jack was just his roommate, he wouldn't be there talking to him. He needs to think of some way to get Jack to hear him. Eric is impressed he didn't even break a sweat on this one. Phoene sarcastically remarks, I hate to see people fight on the one holiday that brings loved ones together. He hands Eric athosaurus and some candy, and Eric wishes him a merry Halloween before running off, and then Phoene's cordless phone rings and it's Corey on the plane. 00:55:00 Speaker 2: He's on our first boys world self on a flip phone. 00:55:05 Speaker 3: Yes he appears to be phones. Yes, he appears to be going through some serious turbulence. He needs Phoenie to look up someone named Dexter Jorgensen in the school records. Phoenie reminds him those are confidential. Why does he need them. Corey responds, he's my pilot. Phoene's eyes get wide. Whatever you do, don't get on that plane. The plane begins to rattle again. In corey whimper's goodbye, mister Feoenie, I love you very much. Phoene responds, I'm sure you'll be fine, before hanging up, and then we're back on the airplane. Corey tries to tell Tapanga that he lost Phoenie, but he can't find her. He's lost her too. Then Topanga turns around from the cockpit she's wearing a captain's hat and she's flying the plane. She says, pilot Dexter heard she was afraid and it was her first time flying, and unlike Corey, he cared. So now she's facing her fears and flying the plane. Topanga enthusiastically asks Dexter if she can test what this bird can do, and he excitedly tells his co pilot. 00:56:02 Speaker 1: To go for it. 00:56:04 Speaker 3: They all lean forward and we get a shot of the tiny plane mid air, also doing a nose dives. Corey screams, no. 00:56:12 Speaker 1: It doesn't it doesn't seem safe, just for the record. 00:56:16 Speaker 3: To be never seen again. 00:56:20 Speaker 1: That's it. Well, that's a good beast. Story goes from page twenty to page twenty four, and that is it, and then we're out. 00:56:28 Speaker 3: So then did you miss it? We're back in the guy's apartment. The house is decorated like the Osborne family's house for the Halloween party, and Jack stands in the middle of the living room, looking extremely uncomfortable, as Milly and the rest of her coven wave their arms around him, chanting. Millie tells Jack to chant with them and open his soul so the spirit can take him to the place where darkness reigns. Jack nervously asks if they could just I don't know, Bob for apples. Sean runs into the room happily thanking whoever provided the shrouds. His is a little snug, though, would anyone like to trade him for a large You're great, You're so great. 00:57:03 Speaker 1: I'm sorry you're in this episode. 00:57:05 Speaker 3: Jack asks Millie why everyone's wearing the same costume, and Milly angrily responds back in a demon. 00:57:10 Speaker 1: Voice, it's not a costume. 00:57:13 Speaker 3: The coven continues to chant, and she was trying to keep your voice. 00:57:16 Speaker 1: No. I think they put like an auto tuney type thing on it. I kind of remember her doing that on the set. I think that was her. 00:57:24 Speaker 2: I kind of remember her doing it too. But when I watch it, I was like, there's. 00:57:27 Speaker 1: Something there's it puts something to it. But she was pretty close on the set to do something. 00:57:31 Speaker 2: Wouldn't be surprised if she was doing something on the set and then they had looped it with somebody else, like maybe Jackie looped it actually if she already was doing voices, because it's it's just different enough that I'm like, oh, that's that doesn't sound. 00:57:43 Speaker 3: I know there is something on it. There's like a little extra spin on it. But I know that she must have done like a deeper, you know, demon voice type thing. The coven starts to chant and Sean is trying to keep up. He asks, can we try that one over again? Because I wasn't ready. He counts them down three, two, one, and they all chant in unison. Sean is having the absolute time of his life. The doorbell buzzes and Millie answers it it's trick or treaters. She gives the kids a piece of candy, except the one wearing a witch costume, because you mock us. She slams the door shut and announces it's time. Sean laughs and starts the spooky chant again. Jack tells Milly he wants way if. 00:58:21 Speaker 1: You notice though, So, I don't know if you remember this rider. They the extras just wouldn't start the woo again like you were. It was supposed to be them starting, and they wouldn't do it, and so you had to start it every time, and you're like, you see why you're looking at them like are you guys going to do this or not? And so then you're like, okay, so you started because they just couldn't get it, no matter how you couldn't get it. 00:58:45 Speaker 3: Yep, that's probably why you laugh right before you do it. Jack tells Millie he wants to break up. Millie blankly responds, I'm not Milly, I'm Ushcar, Queen of Malevolent's daughter of evil. Jack's voice gets high pitched and scared as he repeats, USh, I want to break ups. Also funny, Millie slash card as a twirl and reveals it's time for the Sacred lightbeam. Jack tells Sean they're in trouble, but Sean brushes it off. How fun It's a Halloween party, which I feel like is writer speaking to us in the future. Now funisode. 00:59:24 Speaker 1: I think this entire season is a one off. I'm calling it right now, going to be. 00:59:32 Speaker 2: It's just its own. 00:59:33 Speaker 3: This one will call it a Hibbert rump. Yes, then we optical flip. Jack and Jean are tied to the banister. Jack says she lied and asks why she turned him and Eric against each other. Where did she lie? She just she pretty pretty clearly said I am a witch. 00:59:53 Speaker 1: Does that bother? 00:59:54 Speaker 2: She lied when she said that Eric tried to kiss her. 00:59:57 Speaker 1: Oh but wait, how would he doesn't know how that he just because you had been saying, no, I didn't try and kiss her. She was a witch, but he believed. 01:00:08 Speaker 3: He cuts together when she when he realizes she really is a witch, you know, right, But he did flat out ask her, but she said, it's not the sixteenth century. 01:00:22 Speaker 1: It's just a belief. It's nothing spooky, and that's what she's literally going to be. That's what it is. 01:00:28 Speaker 3: Yeah, this this episode is what it is. I'm realizing it's too deep for me. It's just what you're. 01:00:35 Speaker 1: Right. 01:00:36 Speaker 3: Well, Millie scoffs, we need your apartment, you fool. She pulls the blinds to the balcony, revealing two large Spencer Pratt like crystals. From this exact spot, Vlaris will come into alignment and Satan's tale will appear, sending a light beam through the crystal of death, ensuring are immortality and obliterating you what you did. 01:00:58 Speaker 1: She's gonna kill you both. 01:01:00 Speaker 3: The Steaks, who are those people who are like, you know what I want immortality? 01:01:09 Speaker 2: Have you ever read a vampire book? They're miserable, They're always miserable. 01:01:14 Speaker 1: Dress really well, I mean they're like gorgeous, yeah, and beautiful so I want that. 01:01:20 Speaker 3: I just don't want to live forever. 01:01:22 Speaker 1: I don't want to live forever, but I wouldn't mind living like one hundred and fifty years, Like that'd be kind of cool if your quality of life is good, having a long lifespan would be cool. 01:01:31 Speaker 2: But not forever. 01:01:32 Speaker 1: But you know, a couple hundred years, that'd be fun. 01:01:34 Speaker 3: Yeah, Sean chance along with the other witches. Jack gives him a look, and Sean defends himself. It's starting to get fun again again. It's very funny, Millie continues. It's said in this very spot, a hunter will be sacrificed. Two hunters, or even sweeter. One of the cloaked witches pulls down their hood. It's Eric. How about two hunters and a Matthew's. Jack's ecstatic that Eric came to save them, but Milly assures them he wouldn't know how to save you. Eric mocks, oh yeah. He holds up a book. I went to the bookstore last night, picked this up. Milly reads the cover, The Bridges of Madison County. Eric tosses the book before pulling out Witchcraft for dumb dumbs. He says, there's a counter spell in here. Somewhere and he flips through the pages. A clock chimes and Millie tells Eric it's too late. It's time for the sacrificial beam. Eric is still flipping through the book. Yep, just hold on a second there, ish Tar, thank you called me after this. 01:02:32 Speaker 1: He's like, you said, Ishtar, I'm like, yep, sure, it did so funny. 01:02:35 Speaker 3: Happy brothers, watch along with you where you are in the podcast. 01:02:39 Speaker 1: My brother had not air when it aired. When it aired, Oh yeah, my brother Gary had seen an episode in Forever when this aired. I mean he stopped watching at season one and he called. He's like, you're actually funning this one's kay? Thanks, that's cute. 01:02:55 Speaker 3: She ignores him and yells prepare to die. The Death of a thousand deaths. Eric exclaims, ha, here it is, but then a laser beams into the room and burns Eric. 01:03:04 Speaker 1: Oh hot, hot, hot, hot hot. 01:03:05 Speaker 3: Milly is stunned. That's impossible. The light beam hit you when you're alive. Eric proudly says, yep, sunscreen SPF forty five plus a little zinc oxide on my bum. He yells to the coven maybe next time, Satan. Sorry, guys. The followers are disappointed, Eric forces everyone out. Satan's children be gone. On her way out, Millie stops at Jack. It's too bad. You're cute, you're sweet. You'd have been the perfect sacrifice. Jack responds, I appreciate that. Eric stops her before she can walk out and asks for the keys. She hands them over, and Eric gets extremely close to her. It's a shame he didn't fall from me. It could have been good. She leaves without saying an other words. 01:03:45 Speaker 1: He's still hitting on her. 01:03:47 Speaker 3: He's still hitting on her. Eric unties the boys, and Jack asks if that light beam was real. Eric looks off into the distance and dramatically says, maybe it was, Maybe it wasn't. There are some things just too big for our puny heads to comprehend. Eric reminds them it's still Halloween. He's got to find another party to go to. He encourages Jack to come along. Jack is shocked that Eric would still invite him, considering all the awful things he said. Eric calls Jack his friend, and Jack realizes he's a pretty lucky guy. They walk out of the apartment while Sean is still tied to the banister, still happy as a clam. You gotta love Halloween. It really brings people together. And then we go to the tag, which is in that's right, the guy's apartment. Guy Eric is hugging a girl on the balcony and he's blocking her face. Whoever she is. She says she really likes the balcony. Eric nervously asks you do. She reveals her face and tells him it's got a great view of the river. Hey, everyone, it's Melissa Joan Hart. The audience lets out a big cheer. It's a very nice reveal. She also points out that you can see a guy watching TV in his underwear. Eric asks, I was just wondering if seeing Valeris did anything for you. She's confused. Is that the underwear man's name? She asks Eric why he's so nervous, and he admits, well, his buddy just came off of a spooky relationship. He was dating a witch. Sabrine asks what's so spooky about that. We get some upbeat music and she leads him back into the apartment. 01:05:15 Speaker 1: What's next? 01:05:16 Speaker 3: Eric figures that they'll just go get something to eat. He peeks into Shawn's room, asking if he'd like anything, and then we cut to a frog who looks a bit like a watermelon who says no thanks. I'm feeling a little bloated in Shawn's. 01:05:29 Speaker 2: Voice, seriously, like, did you guys remember this? 01:05:37 Speaker 1: I didn't know. 01:05:38 Speaker 2: I never remember this. No, I'm a frog. 01:05:43 Speaker 3: The weirdest didn't do it because you were still left like to beat you on the balcony bear. 01:05:52 Speaker 1: I'm seriously, I am just glad you both saw the frog too, because I was. I did kicked in at that point. 01:06:01 Speaker 2: It was like. 01:06:06 Speaker 3: Eric and Sabrina leave the apartment and Eric Yill's goodbye to Sean still as a watermelon frog? 01:06:15 Speaker 2: Did we make this prop? 01:06:16 Speaker 1: Like? 01:06:17 Speaker 2: Did we have a frog puppet? Was this in the disneya frog guy? We had a frog? 01:06:22 Speaker 1: I want to know who he was? 01:06:24 Speaker 3: A one armed frog guy. 01:06:25 Speaker 2: It is horrific like this just there's that. Why didn't we just get a real frog? 01:06:31 Speaker 1: I this is this where the episode lost you. 01:06:35 Speaker 2: This sunscreen fig hilarious, totally, but the frog? Could the frog be a little more realistic? I really just I didn't believe it. I didn't quite believe the frog guys. 01:06:50 Speaker 3: Yeah so frog, Sean continues, you gotta love Halloween. I just I still can't believe corne Banga died in this episode. 01:07:01 Speaker 1: It and the next episode will be grounded in reality. 01:07:06 Speaker 3: Yeah, that's what I have faith. I have faith the next one. 01:07:10 Speaker 1: The next one will get us back on tracks. 01:07:12 Speaker 2: Are other TV shows this like, uh like swinging this dramatically like our show really does like completely break reality and just be so silly. But then also really you know, alcohol Parkhole right, like really serious serious stuff, Like does any other show swing that dramatical? 01:07:35 Speaker 1: Well? 01:07:35 Speaker 3: What I what I wonder is is this whole season gonna be a season of one off feeling like everything just swinging all over the place, and then it either does not go well and they go back. Then is some of the stuff you're thinking of with the alcohol and some of the more like, hey, let's get to real team issues? Is that season six? 01:07:58 Speaker 4: Well? 01:07:58 Speaker 2: I mean I don't know, my dad does guys like you know, the the Sean and Angela, Corey into Panga get married, like we do tackle serious stuff later though, But it's just so it's just I don't know, Like I know that shows have like one off like crazy episodes, but like we have one off crazy episodes and then also have their special serious episodes. I just can't. I just don't, you know, Will can you think of another TV show that does this kind of a. 01:08:24 Speaker 1: Swing, not to this big, not to this extent, and because you think about you know, Friends did one off ones where there were flashbacks where Monica was in the fat suit or anything, but they're all still on character. So the kind of the the only thing I can think of that kind of went this far, but they do it on purpose was one episode every season of news Radio they would do something wacky just and it would always start with Phil Hartman addressing the camera going, hey, everybody, for this episode news Radio takes place in space, and then they do one where it takes place in space. 01:08:52 Speaker 2: But like rkle would like they were all the time because he made show always kind of crazy, like they never had like like. 01:09:00 Speaker 1: A special episodes too, like dramatic stuff and things like that. But we really are kind. 01:09:05 Speaker 3: Of this has anything to do with syndication being in the grasp of our show episode we're getting close to reaching one hundred episodes. It feels like a network. 01:09:19 Speaker 1: Note to me where it's like you guys have to lighten up your show. I mean, it's such a change from the last episode I think. 01:09:24 Speaker 2: There's new network executives and they are throwing stuff out it. I swear, I swear the network said you have to have Mett Lawrence on your show, you have to have Cannae Cameron special episode, or I think they're throwing this at us, and our writers are just kind of we. 01:09:38 Speaker 1: Need an ABC rep. We need an ABC rep from the nineties to come on something to us because something it's so different. I mean, it's so different, and it's not different season one to season two, where it's hey, you can tell they had to age it up a bit, it's going to be more in high school. The tone was kind of still the same. This is like a hole. 01:09:57 Speaker 2: We get a whole director for this entire thing happened like something. And what's weird is like, if we were a hit coming out of season four, you'd think that the mentality would be keep it going, do what's working right, because it really did work. But instead, it seems like somebody either within our production or on the network side, was like, change everything, change it all up, because it's different. We're changing everything. The director's different, the whole tone, we're I have a new cast member who has it's just like it's so I want to know the story. 01:10:30 Speaker 1: I also, we're now what four or five episodes into season five, when do Corey. 01:10:34 Speaker 2: And Tapanga takeover as being kind of the leads of the show. That has I thought maybe that happened already Betsy and Rust here not in this episode now the beginning. 01:10:43 Speaker 1: Bill is barely in the episode. They're kind of just using him sporadically now, but that'll change when he becomes the dean of the school again. So yeah, it's it's different. 01:10:54 Speaker 3: Thank you all for joining us for this episode of Pod Meets World.
