00:00:07 Speaker 1: Welcome back everybody to Bachelor Happy Hours, Golden Hour. Kathy and I are so excited to be joining you again today. 00:00:15 Speaker 2: So excited to be back today, though we have such a special guest. Please welcome from this season of the Golden Bachelor. Jerry's here. Hi, Jerry, how are you? 00:00:27 Speaker 3: Jerry? 00:00:30 Speaker 4: Excited? I am great, I am doing so good, so good. 00:00:34 Speaker 2: We are so excited to have you here. You're our very first guest from the very first second Golden Bachelor. A lot of first there. 00:00:43 Speaker 3: Yet, Jerry. 00:00:45 Speaker 1: There's so much we want to dive into today. We've got to get started. We have a zillion questions, but we want to know about you. 00:00:54 Speaker 4: Okay, what about me? What about Cherry Flowers? Cherry Flowers an amazing mom, Jerry Flowers, a CEO owner of a home care agency, Jerry Flowers who is looking for love. Jerry Flowers, who was given one hundred and fifty percent to people. You name it. If they say, if they said my name, she's a giver, she's a listener, she's amazing. I mean, wow, they would say. 00:01:23 Speaker 3: That you were so amazing. 00:01:26 Speaker 2: So Jerry, tell us what we're going to get into all that? You know, we wanted how you got on the show. We want to know, but what was dating like before? Before you went on the show? What was dating like for you? Kind of like my dating life A big good. 00:01:41 Speaker 3: We all have similarities, don't we. 00:01:43 Speaker 4: Well, I will tell you. When I first got interviewed for the show, said to me, first of all, this is not your real aid. Second of all, what's the matter with the men in Rockville? And I said, I don't know. 00:01:57 Speaker 2: Did you say how much time do you have? Because I'll explain it to you right. 00:02:01 Speaker 3: Had you ever watched the show before? 00:02:04 Speaker 4: I have? My mother loved the show. My mother loved the show, and the person who signed me up for Gay Melnick loves both of you, loves sending hugs and loves loves you. But you know dating was not on my radar. It was, and I'll be transparent about that. I mean, dating is a type of thing where you have to go out and invest and do it and work on it. My investment was my children, who you know, you know my story. My husband died at forty seven and left me with a fourteen year old, eight year old and four year old, and I'm like, what am I supposed to do with these children who I adore. 00:02:36 Speaker 2: Yeah, so wait, I have to I have to jump ahead. I mean, we're going to talk about you know, the first repressure is all that, but a widow at forty seven and raising kids. And when you sat and talked with mel like that really resonated with him that you said it. You said it had been eighteen years and now it was your time talking to us a little bit about that, because. 00:03:03 Speaker 4: I mean, forty seven years old, you know, he's here today, gone tomorrow. Had no like, what am I doing with my life? We're supposed to retire, We're supposed to talk with our children. Is supposed to do for college? What am I supposed to do with these children? And I'm saying I never said why me? Never said that because my philosophy was why not me? Why not me? Because I had recently, not recently, like maybe eighteen years, fourteen years prior to that, I had lost my son at fourteen years old, So I had lost a son as well. So I was like, Okay, I've got to get up and do this. 00:03:43 Speaker 2: And I did it. 00:03:44 Speaker 4: But dating was not on my radar because these little people needed me, they were really I was too busy. 00:03:53 Speaker 2: So I was you. I mean, you are raising kids is a it's a serious endeavor. I mean, any of us who do it, we know right. All shared that in comment What did your kids say when you decided to come on the show. 00:04:08 Speaker 4: They were so elated, they were so happy. They were like, Mom, you have given us so much. It is your time. You know. It was really symbolic. My son David said to me one dawn, never forget, He said, Mom, you never laugh. Why don't you laugh? I was like wow. And then when I got ready to go on the show, he said, Mom, I was laughing. 00:04:34 Speaker 2: How old are your kids, Jerry? How old are your children? Now? 00:04:37 Speaker 4: I have a thirty two year old who just blessed me who's getting married fiance. She has a fiance, Mike, Oh yeah, who blessed me with this amazing little boy three months old now, Michael David Alexander. He is was born juneteenth. Okay. Then I have my doctor Flowers, Amber Flowers, who is getting married to her doctor Miles Simms on Saturday. 00:05:07 Speaker 2: Oh boy, you're a busy lady. 00:05:10 Speaker 4: Oh you can't even imagine. I won't even tell you where I parked my car for this. I don't even know where my car is when I go out, don't know where it's at. 00:05:16 Speaker 1: And when you shared it's your time, it's both of your times. 00:05:22 Speaker 3: When you said that to Mel. 00:05:25 Speaker 4: Because it was. And then I had David. David, who, ladies, there's nothing worse for your son at four years old to run downstairs and I say, I have a surprise for you, and he said, Mommy, Daddy's coming home. Oh god. I said, no, sweetheart, Daddy's not coming home. But I have something else for you. But no, and those and my children. So we have the thirty one year old, the twenty seven year old, and then we have David twenty two. 00:05:52 Speaker 2: Wow. Wow, that's that's that's a lot. But you know what, you have the energy. I mean that to me. Obviously we we we were on that show and we had those poignant moments with our Gary. But I found it so interesting that you were able to open up so easily about your time and that you had raised your kids. And Mel was so open in this first episode about him raising his children. And I love that it just you and you said, I really feel like I have a strong connection with him. Talk about that. 00:06:36 Speaker 4: I did, because it was so I don't talk about it much, Kathy, I really don't. I don't go around saying I worked for a job for a year and a half. I didn't even know my husband had passed. I don't go around talking about it. So for some reason with him, that twinkle in his eye, that sincerity, I just opened up. I just opened up. 00:06:57 Speaker 3: Did you feel better? Did you feel good? 00:06:59 Speaker 2: Oh? 00:06:59 Speaker 4: I felt so much better, Susan. You know, I don't want to say it's a burden. It's not a burden, because it's been a blessing and a gift. But it's so nice to talk about it and talk about it to the point that I've done what I needed to do. I've given them the foundation, and now I can be I don't want to use the word selfish, but now I can be selfish. You can and do something with Jared. 00:07:22 Speaker 3: It's about you now. 00:07:24 Speaker 4: It's really about me. It's really about me, and I say that sincerely. It's really about me. 00:07:30 Speaker 2: I'm very curious how you balance. You are CEO of a home health care and you have kids and your planning weddings. How are you Before we even get into night one, which we're about to get into, I want to know how I'm a mother of three and I have two grandchildren, So how do you balance all of that? 00:07:54 Speaker 4: You know? I just first of all, I pray, ladies. I'm going to just be very transparent about that. I pray first, and God give me the strain because I get tired. I get tired, but I just keep going. I just keep going, and I just say, why not me? First of all, I have life. I mean one thing about this show. Everybody's going to finally know my age. My children never knew my age. My children didn't know my age. And I have a big birthday and I'm gonna be sixty five. 00:08:22 Speaker 3: And you know what, congratulas, freaking proud of you. 00:08:25 Speaker 2: I am right, you are damn Do you need medicare? Do you need medicare? Advice that can help you out? Jared? 00:08:30 Speaker 4: You know what, I have been putting that off for a month. ARP trash, trash, I can't do this, but you know what, You're just how welcome it? 00:08:41 Speaker 3: Just welcome it. It's all good. 00:08:44 Speaker 2: You know it's coming for you, whether you're ready or not. 00:08:53 Speaker 1: What did you do, if anything special, to prepare for this journey, Like, what were your thoughts going into it? Getting on the airplane and thinking, wow, what am I about to do? 00:09:04 Speaker 4: You know, I only told very few people, like I have a few friends of mine. They're still mad at me. I didn't tell them. I don't. But I only told very few, my small circle and my prayer partner and my children, and of course I had to tell my hair dress because I hadn't do my. 00:09:19 Speaker 2: Hair, so that was that's a must, That's a must. 00:09:23 Speaker 4: But I told very little and I just prayed on it, and I just said the biggest thing for me if my grandson would have been born July ninth, I wasn't coming, but he was born juneteenth, and I said, I'm going ready. 00:09:36 Speaker 2: That was okay. So let you know, we've all been there. We've all been in that limo. Talk to us about night one. You know how I know how I felt. I was. I thought I was going to trip walking across that dropperty, how did you feel getting out of the limo? 00:09:50 Speaker 4: I was like, what am I doing? Don't forget I had the cap on, so I'm like, please don't let the cap go to the side. I'll be on TV. My steff Is scope is going to choke me as. 00:10:01 Speaker 2: I'm getting we heard you we heard. The world heard you say you were going to take care of all of his needs. We all heard it. 00:10:09 Speaker 3: Yeah, well I did, and I'm and I like that. 00:10:13 Speaker 1: You want you, like to be his dessert after a long day's work, and now he was hungry. 00:10:21 Speaker 4: I hope he was. 00:10:22 Speaker 1: I hope when you actually laid eyes on him, Like, what did you feel? 00:10:27 Speaker 4: Oh? 00:10:27 Speaker 2: My? 00:10:27 Speaker 4: He was so he's handsome. To the point that I'm telling you, ladies, I felt butterflies. Who feels butterflies at sixty four years old? 00:10:36 Speaker 2: We all want to that's that's that's what we're looking for. 00:10:40 Speaker 4: And ladies, I want to tell you, and I won't tell you else what was tingling else? Also too, I won't I won't tell you because I'm like, wait a minute, wait a minute. 00:10:52 Speaker 3: It was the word I'm alive. 00:10:57 Speaker 2: So were you nervous? Get now, obviously you know your your your body parts were talking to you, But were you nervously talking. 00:11:05 Speaker 4: To My only thing was that Heck, that was the only thing that was making me nervously. I didn't want it to fall. Yeah, I didn't want that hack. 00:11:13 Speaker 1: Yeah, how about when I saw the other women, like the women are gorgeous, The women were beautiful, the women were just. 00:11:21 Speaker 4: But it's one of those things. And this is true. We are all fearfully and beautifully made, So don't compare yourself. There's a reason why you are here, and you're unique, and if you can hold on to that, because it's a lot. The women are beautiful, they all are. They look great, you know. I when I came back, I got a personal trainer, you know, because but but you are who you are and that's what I want the ladies to understand out there, And you are who you are. 00:11:50 Speaker 2: Yeah. Well, and I think that is a great message. Our message has always been you know, this is our chapter. This is your next chapter of your life, and you know, we all want to make it the best chapter. And I think all of the women, I think we share that coming into this environment that so few women get to experience, that we are special and we should feel special about ourselves. And you clearly get it now. 00:12:19 Speaker 4: Oh yeah, and my daughter, my doctor Flower, says to me all the time, Mom, this is your chapter. Now, this is your turn. You're living what people did in their twenties because you were raising a sick child. You're doing in your sixties. And how fun is that and how much wisdom now that you. 00:12:35 Speaker 1: Have, right well, and that's what makes it so much better because you've had your life, your experiences, and now again it's time for you and to be able to do something like this. 00:12:48 Speaker 2: Do you think do you think it's harder or easier at this age to date with all the things you have in your life. 00:13:02 Speaker 3: I think. 00:13:04 Speaker 4: It might be easier just because you're a little more pickier. You know what I'm saying. You're not falling for the lines? Yeah? Really? Right? Okay, come on, now, you know what I'm saying, Like really, you know you can see through that. I don't want to say it the bs. 00:13:18 Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, so and so you clearly are. I love you because you're direct like I am. And I love that you say what you mean, You mean what you say. How shocked were you when you I wasn't. How shocked were you when you got the first impression? Bross? 00:13:33 Speaker 4: Are you kidding me? I was floored at first. I was out of my mind. I was like I couldn't even say I'm sure that that's what came across. I'm like, what did he just call my name? Really? Did I really? My? My? 00:13:49 Speaker 2: My? 00:13:50 Speaker 4: Both my girls were when they got engaged. It was a surprise. I know how they felt. 00:13:55 Speaker 3: With that felt like this because I was surprise. 00:13:59 Speaker 4: I had no idea. 00:14:00 Speaker 2: Listen, Jerry, you clearly are someone who is who they say they are. And I think I think everyone sees that about you in this first episode. Really, I think so. I mean I I was not at all surprised that, and the lady. 00:14:18 Speaker 4: Said that all the ladies, even though they clearly knew what it meant. When I saw the rose, you know me, you know, I was happy drinking my prosecco. I was happy to have lamark. I was a happy even though the good time. 00:14:31 Speaker 3: I look good, I feel good. 00:14:34 Speaker 4: I'm not taking care of anybody. 00:14:35 Speaker 2: Jerry. I beat a track to the bar. I had like a little golden pathway to the bar. 00:14:40 Speaker 4: I know, why does a bartender know my name? But it was just a lot. But I was happy. I was happy. So when the rose came, I was like down. When it was on the table on the plate, I said, oh, that's a pretty rose. Let me go get some more of lamarca. And that's how I I just didn't. I had no idea I had. 00:15:06 Speaker 2: It's a nice surprise, but I feel like you're the girl who you're the woman who just is who you are. You come out as yourself. And I think Mel really appreciated that because I want to know what you think. You know what you went through, right, you had all the girls. What do you think he was going through that first night? What do you think? Well? 00:15:31 Speaker 4: I was just getting ready to say that. First of all, he had to face all us beautiful women when you walked into that that that living room, and you could tell he was like, oh you know what I mean, Like. 00:15:43 Speaker 2: I mean, can you ask? And can you imagine? I think I hope everybody when they watched this first episode gives this guy some grace. I know you all did, because how many times personally I can speak, have said stupid things off the cuff. And I think when he saw you women, I think it was a you know, a slap, not literally, but a slap in the face. Well he got a puppet slap, but you know what I mean, I think it was I think he really thought Wow. I think do you agree? Oh? 00:16:19 Speaker 4: I agree one hundred, one hundred and fifty percent. Yeah, I agree, because I sat there, I saw them, I saw and you know what I saw more than anything. I saw their hearts. I saw their hearts. I mean I was like the person they came to to pray for every day, whatever they were playing, I was praying for them whatever. And they all really accepted his apology. I felt that very sincerely. 00:16:45 Speaker 1: You know, even I did one of them. I did it because I was one to judge. I didn't like what he had to say. I was like, okay, hearing him and being humble and really was grateful for the in this that you women gave. 00:17:01 Speaker 3: Him, and I love to start over, for this. 00:17:05 Speaker 1: Journey that he wanted to go on. I really took a different. 00:17:11 Speaker 4: Who's perfect. The only man I know that's perfect is the man upstairs. 00:17:15 Speaker 1: We all open our mouths and insert foot from time to time. 00:17:18 Speaker 4: I do it a lot. 00:17:21 Speaker 2: I also you all when he apologized, and I thought his his reaction was real. I mean, I don't think there's anything put on about that, and I think a lot of people. You guys, I mean, did you feel like this is not going to go well until you saw him. I just wonder how you felt up coming up to it, because we're I mean, yeah, I'm talking about what he had said. Were you like this guy's really gonna have to prove it to me, because I love a man who will say I need to earn it back, and I about him. 00:18:01 Speaker 4: I think so. And I'm telling you I heard the comment and I'm like, what's up with that? And then you know, you know the rumors they're getting rid of them, they have a new one whatever, And I was just like, you know what I'm going, and I'm going because some people said, oh, you shouldn't go. Why are you going? They were just talking. They didn't know what was going on. They didn't even know I was going to be on the show. I didn't know, and I was like, come on, guys, let's give him some I'm when I say, even when we were interviewing the first night, they said to me that, I said, you know what, I hear what you all are saying. I accept his apology, and don't ask me that anymore. 00:18:42 Speaker 2: I just don't. 00:18:43 Speaker 4: I don't want to hear it behind me. It's behind me very sincere very. 00:18:49 Speaker 3: And that's okay, let's start this over. 00:18:52 Speaker 2: Okay. So, so, so we're we're all in a love melfest. Now I haven't met him yet, but I'm looking forward. 00:18:58 Speaker 4: You haven't met mew. 00:18:59 Speaker 2: No, I'm looking forward to it, but I want to know uh that I have to tell you I went into paralysis over the cheerleading. I was the cheerleader. Uh but the fact that you all learned those cheers that cheer so quickly. Tell me about that. What was that like for you doing and seeing Paula? What? 00:19:20 Speaker 4: First of all? First of all, just well back up. We were listening to her song the Oh my God. So we were all excited. I'm team Paula. I'm team So we get out there and when they we thought we're going to play flag football. You know, us women were we like to take control. We kind of know what's going to go on. We all we know that and we had no idea. So when she came out, it was like, oh my goodness, and you want us to do what now? 00:19:45 Speaker 2: Wait? Well wait, Jerry, you all, I'm assuming you came to the stadium in your cheer outfits? Yes, no, oh put them on? Okay? 00:19:55 Speaker 1: I asked Kathy with the costumes and we had to Yeah. 00:19:59 Speaker 2: I you remember he came. 00:20:01 Speaker 4: We came an athletic where okay, and we're just like, okay, we're gonna have to play flag. 00:20:06 Speaker 2: That makes sense. Okay, that makes total sense because and that's and every. 00:20:10 Speaker 4: Every one of us said that. Everyone said the flag football, We're gonna do some type of drill or he's gonna make us exhaust. You know, we all. 00:20:18 Speaker 2: You know, who can throw the longest pass kind of thing? 00:20:21 Speaker 4: Ye, who can throw the longest who can catch them? 00:20:23 Speaker 2: We all? 00:20:24 Speaker 4: And when he. 00:20:25 Speaker 1: Impressed, I will say, he looked it was it's both of you. 00:20:30 Speaker 2: Both teams did a great job. I mean you really did. You know. 00:20:34 Speaker 4: We had a few that were like, okay, Jerry, be serious, now come on, Cherry, leave me alone. But you know, but some are very serious. And I and I was. I was good because I was a dancer a little bit. And look my daughter did cheer was. 00:20:48 Speaker 2: There were a lot of dancer. I mean there's you, there's uh, Cindy's a dancer. There's a couple of other dancers there was. 00:20:56 Speaker 4: They were phenomenal. They were. But you know what was good about they all help us. They helped us. 00:21:01 Speaker 2: Okay, that's what women do, left, Jerry, that's what women. 00:21:11 Speaker 3: At this point in time. 00:21:12 Speaker 1: Is your heart getting like are you into him? 00:21:18 Speaker 3: Are you watching it? 00:21:20 Speaker 4: Into him? 00:21:21 Speaker 3: Okay? 00:21:21 Speaker 4: Okay, A lot of them were already into him. Okay, I was getting there, I. 00:21:26 Speaker 2: Was getting so So who were your friends? I want to know because on our season there, as you just pointed out, there were some women in our season that were more into Gary in the beginning than others of us. So who did you gravitate to? Who are your friends? And how did that work with the positioning, if you will? With mel well with. 00:21:49 Speaker 4: Us, we had the smallest room, but we had the best room. We had Carol Carol who is my ace, Carol Carroll Carroll, And we had Cindy who was in our room. So she used to come over and like, this is your room, get out, So she said, would come over, get out, Cidy. And then we had Amy and then Robin. 00:22:12 Speaker 2: Those are great women, and then we had. 00:22:15 Speaker 4: The other ones that came in. We were like the party room to the to the point the handlers used to say, are you guys, okay, what are you doing here? And we're like, you know, I can the smallest room. 00:22:25 Speaker 3: Everybody congregated, right. 00:22:27 Speaker 2: That's funny because Susan and I were in the master and that's where everyone and Teresa came and wanted to do yoga, and they threw her out April on our shape rooms. They get out of here, get out of here, go to room. 00:22:39 Speaker 4: Do you know in that big room, one of the big rooms, there was a sign that says we are sleep at nine. Don't disturb, And I'm like, can I go and rip it off? 00:22:48 Speaker 2: She should have been in our room, Kathy, are your roommates? Were they the ones you gravitated to? 00:22:53 Speaker 3: For you were close to somebody in another room at all? 00:22:57 Speaker 4: You know what, It's interesting because I I prayed a lot with everybody. Everybody. I had a prayer and I have on my nice stand, I had Jeremiah twenty nine for I have the plan but to prosper you, not to harm you, but to bring you hope for the future. So if somebody was having some problems with another lady, Jerry prayed with me. Okay, come on, well, funny. 00:23:20 Speaker 2: You should mention that. Because it seemed that the women were getting frustrated with Nicole and her makeup sessions in the pool. 00:23:27 Speaker 3: Well that's some of them were, but it was Nicole is passionate. 00:23:36 Speaker 4: Nicole is very passionate, passionate and beautiful, and so she's a little more open than maybe some of us are or for that's how. 00:23:44 Speaker 3: I'm not afraid to go up to them. 00:23:46 Speaker 2: Yeah, no, she's I mean that girl had her octopus arms though. I was like, I have to say, those arms wrapped around him. And when Cindy ever said she's Nicole, she's climbing the tree, I died, could I could laughing? But I just thought Nicole seemed good for her. But I mean, I just wondered, because in our I'd be lying if I didn't say. We had a couple of women who were very territorial. Shall I say, that's a good word, territorial, and it cost it caused a little friction. So I just wonder, if you know, how were you feeling, because clearly you're a peacemaker, You're you're stummach me. Yeah, well, good justice, you're a woman of justice. There you go, But how how did that feel? 00:24:41 Speaker 4: It didn't bother me, didn't Honestly, it really wasn't like Joe. 00:24:47 Speaker 2: You don't want to get your lips on that. Come on, I. 00:24:49 Speaker 4: Did get my lips on it, Cathy, So thank you very much. 00:24:52 Speaker 2: Excuse me, excuse me. 00:24:56 Speaker 4: He's a great kisser. 00:25:00 Speaker 1: Saw one of the first couple of kisses because I had that in my notes like a kiss. It was like, come on, now, give me something here. 00:25:08 Speaker 4: No, I mean I kissed him. I kissed him. I kissed him. Did I kiss him that night? Maybe? 00:25:15 Speaker 2: Oh? Yes, yet that I saw that. 00:25:17 Speaker 3: Yes, I'm not ladies, I'm not dead. Did you get the butterflies then? Did you feel special? 00:25:26 Speaker 4: Oh? I felt like Cinderella. Yes, and I still feel like Cinderella. And I will share with you, ladies. And you can take this the way you want it. And he has big hands, so you can take that anyway. 00:25:36 Speaker 1: You can't enough said, can we talk about the outdoor rose ceremony? 00:25:44 Speaker 3: That was cool? 00:25:45 Speaker 4: Oh? 00:25:46 Speaker 3: That was the first night? Like how long that night goes? 00:25:50 Speaker 4: Right? Oh, you mean the first first night when I GotY first night. But you know what, you aren't such a high. I know we had this question here. This says how is your endurance? I used to work three jobs and I worked the night shift day shift, so I had two jobs in the morning during the day, twenty four hours I worked. So for me to be like that or nothing good, it was nothing and I was on a high. I'm gonna mansion. Wait. 00:26:19 Speaker 2: I want to know when you worried about obviously you got the first impression rose, But on the second ceremony, how were you feeling? 00:26:27 Speaker 4: No? You know why because I did my little Jeremy my prayer and I want to say the second ceremony, I think he came out in a burgundy suit, if I remember correctly. And when I saw that burgundy suit, because I looked up and I said, come on, David, I'm getting nervous. And when he came out in a burgundy suit that was my husband's school, Morehouse College, I said, I got a road. I'm not even thinking about it. 00:26:55 Speaker 1: Well, yes, you did have a rose, and you didn't need to think about it. 00:26:59 Speaker 2: You just knew you were getting it. 00:27:01 Speaker 4: I knew it. 00:27:02 Speaker 2: Wow, I knew. 00:27:03 Speaker 4: Because of what I asked for and I saw and I'm pretty sure it was that burgundy suit he wore, and I just knew what. 00:27:10 Speaker 3: Now, the first rows it got you. 00:27:12 Speaker 2: The second you strike me as a very confident and know who you are kind of woman, which I personally love because I want women our age to feel that way. And the more of us out there that are espousing this, the better I like it. 00:27:30 Speaker 4: I hope, and I hope they see that about me. Now take all this X to interior, you know me, but late, I just want them to know they can do this. They can do this. Is it hard in the beginning, yes, yes, but take it one second at a time, one minute out of a time, one hour at a time, and just go and have fun. That's what it's all about. 00:27:54 Speaker 1: So I have to ask you when we saw two rose ceremonies, so we're you surprised at the second row ceremony? 00:28:02 Speaker 3: Who had to leave? 00:28:06 Speaker 2: Or did? 00:28:06 Speaker 4: You don't know if I was surprised, I was just sad because I had formed a bond. 00:28:10 Speaker 3: Yes, yeah, we hate it saying goodbye to Kathy. 00:28:13 Speaker 4: Right, it's wrenching. It's wrenching. And but you know I never sat around and said when who's gone home today? Who's gone home today? I just never. It must have been the maker of the prosecco. I don't know. I just never. 00:28:27 Speaker 3: But we all had to be prepared to leave. 00:28:30 Speaker 1: Well, we had to, and I yes, you have to be, Yes, you have to be. 00:28:35 Speaker 4: But I didn't, you know, because it's almost like we were competing, but we're really not competing because we're all in fa other's cheerleader. 00:28:43 Speaker 2: Well that's actually a question I was. I wanted to ask you, Jerry, did you feel people used to ask us this. Did you feel like you were in a competition or an adventure to find love? Or are they the same thing? 00:28:59 Speaker 4: I mean, a competition with the other ladies. 00:29:02 Speaker 2: Yeah, sorry, yes, I mean there was a. 00:29:05 Speaker 4: Little competitive there. There was this a little bit. I mean, you always got the ones who always ran up to. 00:29:11 Speaker 2: Him first, pushing their way out the door of the Yeah, knocking me down? 00:29:16 Speaker 3: Is it always Nicole? 00:29:19 Speaker 4: We love her? But you know it's okay because if you're confident in yourself, he'll see me well. 00:29:27 Speaker 2: And also, don't you think we're only in the first episode. But I and I certainly don't know how it ends. But I from our season, even though Gary and Teresa didn't make it, I think the process itself works. Do you Oh? I do? 00:29:44 Speaker 4: Yeah, absolutely I do. I mean people say and you get your people who say, oh, you can't find love in that time. You know, you get those people. There's always going to be someone saying something. But see, my husband walked down the the hospital going to see a sick patient. I saw him and was like, oh my god, I'm going to. 00:30:07 Speaker 2: Marry that man. 00:30:07 Speaker 3: That's what Cathy says. 00:30:09 Speaker 2: Jerry, I met my husband the first night of college at a fraternity party, looked at him across the room and looked at my sweet man, said you see that guy over there, because I said I'm going to marry him, and eighteen months later I did. I got it. Yeah, I believe in chemistry. I mean you said it. You used the word chemistry. Chemistry is a real thing. 00:30:30 Speaker 4: And right, so no matter who's pushing through you, no matter who's doing he'll see you there. 00:30:37 Speaker 1: At one point looking around, going I think, I see these two look at each other, or I see you never felt like that you were just good with everything. 00:30:47 Speaker 4: I really was. I mean I could tell that, and I mean I could tell there was he had an attraction. I could see that. 00:30:55 Speaker 3: Okay, you noticed that, Yes you can. How could you not? 00:30:59 Speaker 2: Right, I mean, you can't have an equal attraction. But I wish people this is my plug for mel and with the same for Gary, that it's almost an untenable situation. I mean, don't get me wrong, I would love to be having twenty five, twenty three men whatever fawning over me. Let's be clear, but I think it's got to be so difficult for them, and I think when they handle when when mel not only you know, he was coming and digging out. Frankly, he had to come and dig out and he did. 00:31:31 Speaker 3: A great job and start at super. 00:31:33 Speaker 2: So I you know, I give these guys great credit and I give the women great credit because I'm a big believer in women supporting women and to that end, to that end, we've been bulleting you with questions, An, you got anything before before we before we head out of this great interview, do you have anything you want to know about us? Questions? I do? 00:31:53 Speaker 4: I mean, what is life after the bast What is life life? For you all? What is life like? 00:32:00 Speaker 1: It's still just as great as when you're on the show. Because for me, I love myself from being on that show. I'm okay with who I am, you know what I mean? 00:32:12 Speaker 3: Like I was like, you. 00:32:12 Speaker 4: Were like that before you even went on the show, though, Susan, you were like. 00:32:15 Speaker 1: So I always was me and Kathy I can say for both of us, so I'm sure unapologetically authentically us I. 00:32:22 Speaker 3: Am who I am. 00:32:23 Speaker 1: But after being on that show, it gave me more confidence, if you will, I was okay with somebody else being happier than I got to be, you know, and happy for them. 00:32:37 Speaker 2: For me, I knew pretty quickly that Gary. By the way, this is hard Jerry Gary. I'm trying to keep the name straight here. Just I know Erry I was pretty clary times. 00:32:48 Speaker 3: We call him that guy. 00:32:49 Speaker 2: Yeah, that that Gary and I were not going to be a nice guy, but not my right. But but I will tell you the big for me being on that show was a gift my husband. I'm sure you know my husband died by suicide and so for me, so for me, it helped bring me back to life and give me help me find that joy again. But the biggest takeaway for me from being on the show, and I still feel it to this day, is when somebody says to me, Kathy, listening to you, I now I feel like I have a purpose. I want to live my life. I want to that. I am so grateful that this experience means something to other people that they can find joy. They can say, you know what, if she can do it, I can do it. So to be that little, maybe little example for someone to feel better about themselves, that is everything to. 00:33:47 Speaker 4: Me right right now. That's spot on. That's how exactly how I feel. I can heal you, I can bring you back to life, but your soul and just to make you feel good about yourself. That's something that's within. And now I'm her. 00:34:04 Speaker 1: Comfort zone, going on to something. I mean, you're on national TV. That's not in your everyday comfort zone. 00:34:10 Speaker 3: You know what I mean? 00:34:11 Speaker 4: No, no, but I want to help. I'm whoever it is, whoever's whoever knows me. I'm a I'm a giver. That's my love language. I'm a giver. I do it like blinking my eyes. It's like blinking my eyes. It's so natural. And I'll feed you. I don't eat, but I feed people. And they say that all the time. 00:34:28 Speaker 3: But what about as far as people I do, I feed them. 00:34:32 Speaker 4: They'll tell you that she never eats. But as far as like the publicity all that, Like, I don't have to be the center of attraction that you will be. You will. 00:34:41 Speaker 1: People will recognize you, and it's always warm and loving and you've given us hope, like there's you're never too old to live. It's not over in your sixties. It's just beginning, you know. 00:34:56 Speaker 3: And that share that message and people just will love you. 00:35:01 Speaker 4: Yes, I said We're strong, sassy, and sexy. That's us. I'm sorry. 00:35:10 Speaker 2: I think that's a great place to end it. Thank God says it all. 00:35:16 Speaker 4: When you come to Rockville, I want you guys to look me up please. 00:35:20 Speaker 3: Well, we'll share each other's numbers afterwards. 00:35:24 Speaker 4: Thank you. 00:35:24 Speaker 1: It was so much fun and we want to thank you. You're such a wonderful guest. 00:35:28 Speaker 4: Jerry. 00:35:28 Speaker 3: We're so happy that you're in our lives now. 00:35:31 Speaker 4: Welcome to the Oh, yes you are. You know, if I had known you sooner, I would invite you to the wedding on Saturday. 00:35:36 Speaker 1: I'm telling you I could have officiated the wedding now you tell me. 00:35:41 Speaker 2: Yeah, Now, I knew she'd get that in.
