Love that you guys are hanging with us. It really does mean a lot. Fox Sports Radio Nation, you're the best. Danny g. The other day. The Spurs, we've seen white outs. We've seen blackouts with all the fans wear white. In Miami here, you know the crowd weears colors. 00:02:19 Speaker 3: Of course, usually the owner and the franchise, the front office, they'll make sure that there are promotional T shirts on every seat in the arena for the playoffs. 00:02:28 Speaker 2: You didn't think it was cool how the Spurs had like the retro color scheme. 00:02:32 Speaker 1: They called it the Fiestas, the Fiesta scheme. 00:02:34 Speaker 2: They look dope. They gilted the fans and to wear they forced them to wear the shirts. 00:02:39 Speaker 1: I thought it them to cool. Yeah, it look cool. 00:02:42 Speaker 3: But we've seen some clips going viral that show them guiltying the fans that arrived before the game, like put your shirt on. 00:02:49 Speaker 1: On the Big Street. 00:02:51 Speaker 2: You know what that reminded me of because it poses the question like the things you were guilted into doing, like you really didn't want to do it, but you were guilted into doing it and the fans did it. Dude, if honestly, if David Robinson and Tim Duncan put on the shirt. I think you can, right, come on, true, but some people reluctantly did it right. I remember I had a girlfriend who she was like full blown Italian right her family. 00:03:16 Speaker 1: She had a mustache, she had a lower she had lower back hair. 00:03:21 Speaker 2: Mom had a mustache, right, so you know they're full blown Italian the part of Italians. And yeah, and I'm half My dad is a full on Guido from New Jersey and I'm also half Hispanic. But my girlfriend, because she was all Italian, just really wanted me to lean into the Italian stuff. So she bought me one year for my birthday or something like this super tight Italian soccer Jersey. 00:03:47 Speaker 1: It was a s medium. 00:03:48 Speaker 2: I remember Cavino showing up, shot up like a hang. She wanted me to wear it this so bad, like in front of her family. So they accepted me more right, because she wanted her family to like me. So's you gotta wear it Italian. First of all, I don't really watch soccer all that much. I don't root for Team Italy. I don't have anything against Team Idley, but I don't know anything about Team Italy. 00:04:11 Speaker 1: I'm not a big soccer fan. 00:04:12 Speaker 2: And this is a medium jersey, like a tight v NEX medium Italia jersey. Honestly, you look, I get Italian South Aga might as well. It might as well have been a belly shirt. I've been body paint. Yeah, seriously. It was so tight and I wore it just to like I just I was gilted into wearing it to a family barbecue of hers and like, I only did it for her, but I felt so lame about it. I feel like that's what they did. They kilted their fans into wearing these shirts. But body paint would be more comfortable. Yeah, seriously, if you if you were at a game, Sam, if you went to an Iowa game and they're like, hey, everyone in the section is gonna wear yellow, you tell me you want to play along? 00:04:49 Speaker 4: No? 00:04:50 Speaker 5: Yeah, well I like those colors because they're my university colors, so that would be no problem. But these, like these San Antonio shirts very different. 00:04:58 Speaker 1: They were orange, bright orange. 00:05:00 Speaker 5: Yeah, some of that little pink yeah, and some of that color scheme was questionable mind it. You know who would be on board of this is a Rob Gronkowski. 00:05:07 Speaker 2: Festa Fiesta's right, that Fiesta vibe for San Antonio. My wife's from that area. She's from New Bronfles, Texas and the sporting good stores. You see so many that that Fiesta color scheme, the throwback. The fans do like it. What's up, Dan Bayer. 00:05:24 Speaker 1: It has been a part of their logo too throughout the years, like it is. 00:05:28 Speaker 6: Knew it, Like it wasn't apparent on their uniforms, but even during the Duncan days of that spurs with the paint wipe in the background, it's always been there. So to me, it wasn't new at all. It was just a different look. 00:05:40 Speaker 2: Yeah, And I think when you're trying to do something cool and different home court advantage, bring the fans together. To be honest, I thought it looked cool, so I thought that was one story. But I think they the organization knew that they had to thank their fans for playing Hey, thanks for playing along, because they did thank them on the scoreboard and they thanked all the fans were wearing the T shirt. It's like when you go to a super Bowl or big event. Dan Bayer's been there where they give you like a glow stick or wristband and you're like, you know, play along as the Light Show shirt. 00:06:08 Speaker 1: You're differently, Yeah, you don't want to throw it out. You have it on your shoulder. 00:06:12 Speaker 2: You don't throw it on on top of your sweatshirt or something, right, Like, what would I do right now? I'd have to run to the bathroom and throw this T shirt on? Are gonna throw it over this? 00:06:20 Speaker 3: I'm perspiring well in COVID as a fan, you wear your best sports gear for your team. 00:06:26 Speaker 2: You know, That's what I was thinking, Like, I felt like Rich would jump on that, like your hair set, you know, like, now I gotta put this T shirt on. 00:06:33 Speaker 1: I don't know, but you're wearing your jersey. You already you already have your look going on. 00:06:37 Speaker 2: Do you guys know the greatest stadium prank of all time? 00:06:40 Speaker 1: Tell me about it? 00:06:42 Speaker 2: Harvard and yelled, do you know what? 00:06:44 Speaker 1: Yeah? Got the do you know this? 00:06:47 Speaker 2: No? 00:06:47 Speaker 1: No, tell me about right. 00:06:47 Speaker 2: So in two thousand and four, which by the way, feels like yesterday, twenty two years ago, it's when you and I started this the show. Yeah we were late O four, we're twenty something with twenty year old youngsters. Four Yale students famously pranked Harvard fans during a Harvard Yale football game. They distributed place cards like hold this up, and they told them if you hold this up when we tell you, it's gonna spell out go Harvard. 00:07:13 Speaker 1: Oh this is brilliant. I remember this. 00:07:15 Speaker 2: And so all these fans you get a navy blue one, you get a white one, and they've handed all out in the section. And this is a prank played where instead of saying go Harvard, it just spells out we suck. So the whole crowd spells out we suck. 00:07:30 Speaker 1: Brilliant. 00:07:30 Speaker 3: But those fans got the last laugh because their team won like thirty eight to nothing. 00:07:34 Speaker 2: Yeah Theyan. 00:07:34 Speaker 5: But the prank was still and no one can check and be like what is this? Like, oh what is yours? Say, like, no one knows until you all put them up and then you see it's amazing. 00:07:43 Speaker 1: It's a really great prank. Well play. 00:07:45 Speaker 2: Sorry, that was story number one. I sat out a few things. Number two. I went to the barbershop today. Sweet haircut. I know I'll get this fade little gray on the side. It's got to touch that up later, just for just for white dudes. 00:07:55 Speaker 1: I don't know. 00:07:55 Speaker 2: Man, the shorter you go on the signs, the bigger your ears look. Lido's bad Boys. How dare you? 00:08:00 Speaker 1: Oh sorry, I didn't mean to say that. 00:08:02 Speaker 2: I think you ear shamed. 00:08:03 Speaker 7: Ma. 00:08:04 Speaker 1: You're trying to build a camp. That's why Neil Patrick cars. 00:08:06 Speaker 2: Got his ears taped back because in the mirror later like, oh my goodness, I'm just trying to get your head. 00:08:14 Speaker 1: I'm gonna wear ear most tomorrow. I'm just kidding. 00:08:18 Speaker 2: I'm at the barber shop getting a sweet fade from Addison who Quincidell. He's a Clippers fan, and I'm like, I get it. How many people to annoy you with that? He's a barber that likes the Clippers. 00:08:27 Speaker 1: Poor good. 00:08:29 Speaker 2: We're watching and by the way, I was in the barber chair for an hour and I didn't It didn't bother me. We're chitch. I got a big head. And not only was he giving me a haircut. We were watching the Jerry West documentary that's on Prime. It's called Jerry West the logo bro I was pulled in. There was like fifteen minutes left. I'm like, I almost want to be like, I know I got to get the Fox Sports, but uh, I sit here and watch this with you. It was so good. So if you need a documentary Jerry West The Logo. So it was like completely captivating if you were that pulled in. 00:08:58 Speaker 3: Something that happened to his other early on in his life that I never knew about. 00:09:02 Speaker 1: It's a terror jerker. I would say, I heard it was great. 00:09:04 Speaker 2: That's on Prime Prime, Yeah Prime, So if yeah, Prime, which a lot of people do. Jerry West the Logo such a great documentary if you're in that NBA postseason mode right now. There is a lot of good basketball adjacent documentaries Jail Blazers, which we mentioned yesterday about the Trailblazers and Rashid Wallace. 00:09:22 Speaker 1: The jail Blazers one on Netflix. 00:09:24 Speaker 2: The lamar Odum documentary is actually a good watch too, because I think we forget I think the the trials and tribulations of his life and the Kardashians and how he almost lost his life. I think sometimes it overshadows how great he was and his run with the Lakers and the fact that he was a champion and things like that. I think we sometimes forget or it takes a back seat because of the So the lamar odem one's really good too, because of the trouble and because of the Kardashians and all the off the court stuff. I think we think lamar Odam is like basketball player second, which is a shame. Yeah, I mean the dude, he was a champion and had all the potential in the world. So there's three really good basketball documentaries Jerry West, the Logo, Jail Blazers, lamar Otum on Netflix. If you're you know, in that playoff vibe, I mean, it's the perfect time to be in an NBA playoff mode. But the Jerry West thing, I want to bring up one thought and see if you guys agreed with me, which I think you should, because I'm gonna make a brilliant point. I think the Clippers ruined what could have been like even more of a miraculous career for Jerry West when you look at what Jerry West did with well, first of all as a player, and then crafting that Kareem Magic team to work in the front office of the Lakers early on, and then creating dynasty number two with you know, trading for Kobe, you know, getting Kobe in that draft, the switch there, then getting Shack, creating dynasty number two. Then go to the Grizzlies. dB, you and I were talk about. It took a tear Grizzlies team. It made him. 00:11:01 Speaker 1: Respectable, Yes, absolutely, And then I. 00:11:04 Speaker 2: Didn't realize The one thing I forgot was how crucially he was to the Golden State Warriors dynasty. I didn't realize what a role he played in keeping Klay Thompson where it was like if Clay goes, I quit, and he kept the Splash Brothers together. So dynasty number three, he set up the Clippers as best he could, Paul George Kawhi like they failed him. In my opinion, I think Jerry West every step of the way on his oh yeah, on his journey as management, not as a player. Even the Clippers had their best shot to do anything when Jerry West went there and helped create something. It just they didn't deliver. Is that fair to say the Clippers failed him? 00:11:43 Speaker 7: Well? 00:11:43 Speaker 6: Yeah, I think when we look at the constants of the two, it's usually the Clippers who are bad and Jerry West who has had great success. So why would this be his fault and we give the Clippers any benefit of the doubt. I would absolutely agree with that, And it also just goes to the show. It goes to show that some guys just have it. Just like like Larry Brown as a coach, like he's going to win. He may do it in a way that isn't you know, a certain way, but he's just they're going to win. 00:12:08 Speaker 1: It's going to happen. 00:12:09 Speaker 6: John Caliperry, Rick Patino, guys like that and just keeping in the basketball realm, at least in college for. 00:12:15 Speaker 1: Batino recount on every level. Yeah, absolutely, that know it. 00:12:19 Speaker 2: You whre ever talking about that in the kitchen earlier, Like in the world of gms and all sports, you could tell this as a handful that just they they they're dominant, they get it, they know how to win, and others are just if you like, they're playing guessing games. 00:12:31 Speaker 6: Yeah, I don't even think there's fifty percent of whether it be the NBA, whether it be Major League Baseball or the NFL, where fifty percent of those teams gms are good at their job. Like, I just think it's such a specific sort of skill that guys just know how to run it and you know it, and we kind of know those names. John Schneider are the Seahawks, is the guy that gets it. John Lynch New to the game for your forty nine ers. But I think John Lynch kind of gets it. That's it, yeah, you know, And I think that other guys just don't. I think it's a really difficult position. And I don't know if there's thirty two qualified candidates in the NFL or thirty qualified candidates in the NBA or baseball. 00:13:08 Speaker 2: Look what theo Epstein did with the Red Sox and the Cups. Yeah, that's that's going to go down as legendary. But when you think about, you know, who has that, who gets the reputation to Geene Michael. They always credit him as he's the guy who put those dynasty teams together for the Yankees, you know, interestingly, maybe not the best player, but a guy with the skill that Dan speaks of, Like some people are able to see those things. When you think of two different dynasties with the Lakers taking the Memphis Grizzlies from like an embarrassment to like a really good team, going to Golden State and crafting a young Steph Curry with Clay and Draymond and making them a dynasty. The Clippers. Really imagine the Clippers had finally won one, Jerry West would be even more touted. George and Kawhi. He got Paul, George and Kawhi together and everyone's like, man, Jerry West, damn done it again, and they are the ones that let him down. So my takeaway from that documentary, Danny, besides the emotional moments with his brother and what an illustrious career the late Jerry West had, just like I think the Clippers, the Clippers are like the one person. 00:14:13 Speaker 1: That let him down, the one way. He's not defined by that at all. 00:14:16 Speaker 3: But yeah, Michael Jordan, Michael Jordan sat in front of the camera on that documentary and was like, he is one of the most competitive human beings to ever you know. Walk here, ja, yeah, right here, mjsay. 00:14:28 Speaker 2: That was crazy and basketball minds, you know, from what I'm gathering, I haven't seen this documentary yet, but obviously familiar. 00:14:34 Speaker 1: With the story. 00:14:34 Speaker 2: I'm telling you right now it's worth watching. You guys will all love it. So, Jerry West, you said the lamar odom and you brought up the jail Blazers, and that's another that's my third NBA. No, Danny, you hit us up with a really interesting social media post and we're seeing some Cheapskate Penny pinching activity by the Portland Trailblazers. 00:14:54 Speaker 3: Yeah, this is interesting. First, this report came out saying Blazers fans are truly worried about the future of their team. During their recent play in trip Portland, staffers were told to check out of their hotels at noon with hours to kill before seven PM games. Some were left sitting in the lobby with their luggage. Reason ownership reportedly didn't want to pay late checkout fees. And we're like, that's not good and then awful announcing post this. A couple hours later, Trailblazers left team photographer and digital reporter home for road playoff games amid cost cutting measures. 00:15:30 Speaker 2: So they don't nothing, they don't bring the document it, they don't bring the digital team. They're making their staff check out at noon and they have to just sit in the lobby with their luggage before the game. And then I also see that they are two way players that were bouncing back and forth. They didn't even invite them on the road tests. That's pathetic, Like that's embarrassing. I mean, how bad is their money situation? 00:15:51 Speaker 6: Well, it's new ownership, and so what do you see in times like that when I think that they fear that they could lose the team right ultimately like which I don't I hope doesn't happen. And I think that the NBA would, the other Odorans would stand up for it. But sometimes that's a precursor to to all of this. And all you guys have to do is just look what a couple hours to the north and what happened with the Sonics. So a lot of people in that area are just sensitive to all of this. So even though he's on the teams for two weeks and he owns to Carolina Hurricanes by the way, So Tom Dundan's got a lot of a lot of a lot of cash, just doesn't like to spend it. But that's what I'd be worried about. 00:16:28 Speaker 2: When they talk about NBA expansion. Have the cities been narrowed down? You think it's pretty officially yet? 't know? 00:16:34 Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, Seattle in Las Vegas is which is where the NBA is, No Seattle. 00:16:39 Speaker 2: Are they going to retain Sonics? 00:16:40 Speaker 1: You think they'll go into Yes, I think yeah, they'd get the they get the Sonics. 00:16:43 Speaker 2: Would that makes sense for the fan base or you think a fresh start? I think Sonics would be cool again. Yes, yes, absolutely, fans would be pmped. And what do they do with the stat history? Does that stay with the thunder? We'll think about the Cleveland Browns Ravens and then Cleveland Brown's like reinvented. I don't know, it's like a new team. I remember how Cleveland brown new team again. 00:17:01 Speaker 6: Yeah, there was a similar deal with with the Pelicans in the Hornets. So when the Hornets came back into the league, they were the Bobcats, remember, and then they switched back to the Hornets. So then the Pelicans just kind of kept their stuff and all the stuff that was the New Orleans Hornets at the time. 00:17:16 Speaker 1: I remained with the Pelicans. 00:17:17 Speaker 2: In the third time, I think it would be the third time, Browns became the Ravens. But then the Browns re entered the league while the Ravens existed Pelicans Charlotte became the Pelicans, but then Charlotte became the Bobcats and then the Hornets. So and now this this would be the third time. So interesting. 00:17:33 Speaker 6: Yeah, so say the least, Yeah, it's it's I hope they don't. But when you have new ownership coming in and again they were forced to sell, just like the Seahawks are up for sale because Paul Allen owned them as part of the Estates wishes, these teams had to be sold. So now if you're Portland, this was kind of inevitable once Paul Allen passed away a few years ago. And now you're dealing with this after what was a feel good season that could have been horrendous considering Chauncey Billups was arrested on the FBI raid. Yeah, that's how the season started, and it ends up they're playing the Spurs in the playoffs. 00:18:04 Speaker 1: So it seems to be a good year for Portland, except now with all this stuff. 00:18:08 Speaker 2: Well I thought of a fourth, but not a fourth. It's almost Washington Senators. Now we have the Nationals, but that was the expos It's not a similar it's not similar enough. 00:18:18 Speaker 6: But we know in the NFL and how much the Titans keeping everything from the oilers like rubbed people wrong. And now it's been twenty almost twenty five years since the Texans played their first game, so I think Houston's kind of over it. 00:18:29 Speaker 1: But for a long time it was just give them. 00:18:31 Speaker 6: All the oiler stuff back, you know, make that be the Houston Oilers, but the Titans wouldn't relinquish it. 00:18:36 Speaker 2: I got I got a team that I bet you know nothing about. But you had their sort of their baseball card when you were a kidding Spiders. No, what the Cult forty five? Oh yeah, there was always some old Cult forty five rusty stop Cult forty five baseball card. You're like, wait a second, what team was that? DAMPI are so right though, when you bring up the Houston Oilers. What a cool team, what a cool logo? Colors Warren Moon like that was such a shame and the fact that Houston is the team again, you're right in the Houston Oilers. Well, speaking of history is like sort of blurred, like is it Houston or it's with tennesspeaking of that's. 00:19:09 Speaker 1: Where the Colt forty fives played. 00:19:11 Speaker 2: It was the Houston Cold forty fives from sixty two to sixty four MLB expansion team from Texas. Yeah, they came out the same year as the Mets. Maybe the Metro to fold the two years later. All right, we got more Covino on retch and we need a contestant from Big Poppy Trivia. Under the radar the Phillies have lost six in a row. They're going for seven in a row tonight, so the NL East is sucking. Don't deflect, bro, that's not anywhere near eleven in a row. If you remember last year, they snuck past the Mets in that wildcard. They got some good young talent and this, and I think a lot of people really helping that the Pirates continue to play well. They're thirteen and nine, so you're seeing young teams emerge. And the Marlins aren't playing bad. And for example, I feel like Rich was an adult when he realized that the Milwaukee Brewers classic logo was an M and a B, the baseball glove was the M and the B. Or FedEx has an arrow in the logo showing you that they're moving forward. Like the logos within the logo I was. Sam pointed out that there's a guy's face within the Cheetos logo or the Bulls. I love the Bulls. The Bulls logo. If you turn it upside down, robots reading a book to me, I thought it was robot banging a crab. It could be a robot banging a crab. But there's a robot if you turn the Chicago Bulls bull upside out on him within the Chester chair. If you look at Chester Cheetah's Sam, bring me the square piece of paper? So I don't know if this is intentional, but it's pretty good. So look, if you cover the cheetah's face, there's a bearded man like brutus, like a brutus that's creepy. You see that. 00:38:30 Speaker 1: There's a YouTube channel and Samson. 00:38:33 Speaker 2: Best looks like like a meat, like a like a fired up Ryan Day. Yeah, there's a face within the face of the logo, like if you look at Chester Cheetah's no black nose and look at that as a beard and the little dot on the nose is like his lips. It looks like it looks like a cartoon. It's you know what it is. 00:38:53 Speaker 1: It's like, is this for badasses? Tatos Angels love Cheetos. 00:39:00 Speaker 2: Sam's like, I need my frame back for what so hey, And if you're in the car or you're not watching on YouTube. We actually posted this on our Instagram page at Covino Enrich so you could take a look at it. 00:39:11 Speaker 1: There's a logo. 00:39:13 Speaker 2: I don't know if it's intentional or not, but there's a hidden logo, a face within a face of the Chester cheet At Cheetoh's logo. And we move forward. So tonight predictions Mets win. All right, that's a good one. Mets win. Prediction cheek is over prediction my parlay. If you're going to do a parlay Mets and I think you money line all the NBA favorites except I like the Lakers, So I think you go Mets, Lakers, Spurs, Celtics, Spurs, Celtics. I'm not telling me said that. 00:40:04 Speaker 2: No, I know Kevin Durant was a game time decision up until like an hour ago. So what's the update on that? Is there an update on that? Because I think that factors into. 00:40:14 Speaker 1: I don't think I don't think there is an update yet. No, Okay, well hold on. 00:40:17 Speaker 2: According to Last Vegas and the ESPN right now, they're saying Houston's a five and a half point favorite, which would insinuate that maybe they think Katie's ago because that point, that point spread would insinuate like why would he used to be a five point favorite on the road if they thought. 00:40:32 Speaker 1: Katie was out? 00:40:33 Speaker 2: I mean, I'd love to see that battle between Katie and Lebron. I'm really looking forward to seeing Lebron be Lebron of the Magic Johnson era as they described it. I want to see him dishing the ball around and making stars out of these players. Stars, these these role players come in through again. I want to see Bronny on the court again, star really quick. 00:40:55 Speaker 3: Of He's going to be a busy house at the Gradio living room because one is a Vegas Golden Nights. 00:41:02 Speaker 2: Fan and the playoffs. 00:41:03 Speaker 3: The other one is an LA Kings fan.
