[SPEAKER_00]: Andre, can you believe that we have bought seven?
[SPEAKER_00]: Is it seven?
[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, seven new trucks.
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, not all new over the last year.
[SPEAKER_00]: And in this video, we're going to be talking about the good, the bad and the ugly of all seven trucks that we bought.
[SPEAKER_00]: And by the way, why am I here?
[SPEAKER_00]: Worst case.
[SPEAKER_01]: So Kase is actually in Detroit.
[SPEAKER_01]: He is on assignment.
[SPEAKER_01]: He, him and Tommy are working together.
[SPEAKER_01]: There's three different stories they're digging.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, not digging.
[SPEAKER_01]: They were invited there.
[SPEAKER_01]: They're digging up the school.
[SPEAKER_01]: They're scooping everybody.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's scooping up the digs.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, they're doing videos on the new six pack charger.
[SPEAKER_00]: Which is exactly where we just got our three-liter twin-turbo.
[SPEAKER_00]: And they're going to be there when they have available new Cherokee.
[SPEAKER_00]: and also a new version of a Durango as well.
[SPEAKER_00]: There's a lot coming so at altifl.com but let's get into this podcast topic and let's talk about the seven new trucks that we have bought and the most interesting one in some ways is the one that you bought because you bought
[SPEAKER_01]: a tundra what like eight months ago yeah this was October actually almost ten months now ten months ago time flies when you're having fun right I mean and you you didn't get a new one you got the previous generation and I'm guessing because it had the V eight yeah so um if you remember um last couple of trucks that I've owned I had an F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F
[SPEAKER_01]: But then I realized that the V-eighths were at that time kind of going away a little bit.
[SPEAKER_01]: So I wanted to get back into a V-eighth gasoline-powered vehicle.
[SPEAKER_01]: And so I never owned a Toyota pickup.
[SPEAKER_01]: So I really decided, remember I dragged you to the dealership?
[SPEAKER_01]: I know.
[SPEAKER_01]: I felt like this was a truck attached to a snorkel.
[SPEAKER_00]: You've got a circle with a truck attached to it.
[SPEAKER_01]: But remember, it wasn't my first choice.
[SPEAKER_01]: Remember, I really wanted this forest green.
[SPEAKER_01]: I remember.
[SPEAKER_01]: Very nice.
[SPEAKER_01]: Interesting color.
[SPEAKER_01]: It was rusty.
[SPEAKER_01]: It was rusty.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: And then this beautiful voodoo blue, twenty-nineteen, tundra tier depro, was kind of caught our eye.
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I have one thing to say about this.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, the voodoo blue.
[SPEAKER_00]: For those who know, they know.
[SPEAKER_00]: If you want voodoo blue and you want a tundra and you want to be eight there is not much choice but the one that you bought.
[SPEAKER_01]: exactly, and so Toyota has been doing this for what eleven years almost, where every year in a TRED Pro a new color gets introduced, right?
[SPEAKER_01]: And in twenty nineteen it was voodoo blue, which is kind of vibrant, it's kind of bright in most lighting condition.
[SPEAKER_01]: Even at night, you can tell it's kind of an interesting.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you won't lose it in the parking lot of the Sam's Club, will you?
[SPEAKER_00]: No, you will never lose it.
[SPEAKER_00]: So let's start with the basics.
[SPEAKER_00]: Are you happy with your purchase?
[SPEAKER_00]: Did you do the right thing?
[SPEAKER_01]: The answer is yes, but I have an update that is really digging into my side that I really wanted to talk about because a lot of whenever you hear about a review of a vehicle, especially in the older one, especially like a long-term review, people talk about transmission,
[SPEAKER_01]: durability.
[SPEAKER_01]: They talk about engines.
[SPEAKER_01]: They talk about maybe rust issues.
[SPEAKER_01]: They talk about tires, wheels, interior, but they very rarely talk about shocks.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, and this has the fuck shocks, if I ever.
[SPEAKER_01]: Fuck shocks, two point five inch piggyback.
[SPEAKER_01]: So they have reservoirs.
[SPEAKER_01]: So they're pretty interesting.
[SPEAKER_01]: If you had shock issues on Dre, I've had a little bit of shock issue.
[SPEAKER_01]: But so the truck was a little bit while we even have any miles.
[SPEAKER_01]: Right now we're approaching ninety thousand.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's like mid-life or Toyota.
[SPEAKER_01]: I know, but not for fancy shocks.
[SPEAKER_01]: I found out.
[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
[SPEAKER_01]: So, so what happened?
[SPEAKER_01]: So, even our producer Cole, he drove my tundra a few months back and he was like, Andre, you know, what the tires were old, right?
[SPEAKER_01]: So the tires were an issue and I swapped the tires.
[SPEAKER_01]: But also the truck was a little bit, you know, kind of while we wasn't very precise and then I put it on the lift at our ranch and then noticed the shock at least one of them was leaking.
[SPEAKER_00]: They were weeping.
[SPEAKER_00]: Weeping.
[SPEAKER_00]: So sad.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
[SPEAKER_00]: Weeping.
[SPEAKER_01]: So then I called our friend Hugo at ToyTech.
[SPEAKER_01]: Right?
[SPEAKER_01]: This is a Toyota Focus shop in Denver, Colorado.
[SPEAKER_01]: And I asked him, do you know, like, what's the service interval, you know, rebuild interval on a fuck shock on a tundra?
[SPEAKER_01]: He's like, about forty five thousand miles.
[SPEAKER_01]: So you were forty five thousand beyond that.
[SPEAKER_01]: I was twice.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
[SPEAKER_01]: So, so, um, since I bought the truck used, we have no idea really what those trucks redone, what they taking care of.
[SPEAKER_00]: This is like a two point five inch if I remember right.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: So the beefy trucks.
[SPEAKER_01]: They're pretty beefy.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: So,
[SPEAKER_01]: I wanted to get them read out.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, then I was faced with this question.
[SPEAKER_01]: Do I go with a different brand?
[SPEAKER_00]: Sure.
[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe I could put Bill Steins on it, maybe another brand.
[SPEAKER_01]: They have, you know, shopped like toy tech.
[SPEAKER_01]: They have a variety of choices.
[SPEAKER_01]: But then I wanted to keep my truck as stock as possible, right?
[SPEAKER_01]: So you were with the old Vax Jax.
[SPEAKER_01]: And they got rebuilt.
[SPEAKER_01]: So you rebuilt them?
[SPEAKER_01]: I did not.
[SPEAKER_01]: So, turns out, to buy them new, this would be like four to five thousand dollars.
[SPEAKER_01]: Who of a job?
[SPEAKER_01]: Wow.
[SPEAKER_01]: And I was like, that's a lot of money to invest into a six-year-old job.
[SPEAKER_01]: That is a lot of money.
[SPEAKER_01]: So especially for shocks.
[SPEAKER_01]: So I got them rebuilt so for a lot cheaper So when you say we built they basically take them off the truck and then they then screw them and they all move it out The fluid obviously comes out then they're kind of like shims or these washers and stuff So you have to replace all the shim stacks all the washer stacks He told me actually he video the most of this.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's cool.
[SPEAKER_01]: So
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, just little clips here and there.
[SPEAKER_01]: One of my business was stuck.
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, one of those piggyback reservoirs, the little piston that goes up and down inside of it.
[SPEAKER_01]: It wasn't going up and down.
[SPEAKER_01]: It wasn't going up and down.
[SPEAKER_01]: That would be awkward.
[SPEAKER_01]: So, yeah, so I got it through a belt dude.
[SPEAKER_00]: How much was it?
[SPEAKER_00]: And you probably got a friend's family because you got a good friend of ours.
[SPEAKER_01]: You got a treat treated me really nicely.
[SPEAKER_01]: But if I just walked from the street, you know, first time ever, this would be close to two thousand dollars because it includes, they take care of it.
[SPEAKER_01]: They didn't include them in alignment.
[SPEAKER_01]: Right alignments usually cost what a hundred fifty bucks or so.
[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, so it's not five thousand dollars.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's still kind of pricey now.
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, there you have it guys a little shout out to our friends at toy tech in Denver.
[SPEAKER_00]: Now can you tell a difference does it made the truck ride better or is it providing more dampening?
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I can tell, but I also screwed it up.
[SPEAKER_01]: I put sumo bump stops.
[SPEAKER_00]: What a sumo bump stop.
[SPEAKER_01]: So sumo bump stop is basically kind of a larger bump stop.
[SPEAKER_01]: So basically it sits on top of the rear axle.
[SPEAKER_01]: So usually bump stop is maybe an inch, right?
[SPEAKER_01]: It's not that big.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, this is like four to five inches.
[SPEAKER_01]: So it's a big one.
[SPEAKER_00]: That is it.
[SPEAKER_01]: And so even when the truck is unloaded now, the bump stop is actually touching the body.
[SPEAKER_01]: So the frame from the axle make a frame.
[SPEAKER_00]: Make for a rough ride.
[SPEAKER_01]: a little bit different so I need to take off though the reason why I was trying it is because our viewers you guys recommended some of you recommended it because I had the saggy bottom and you know I don't like a saggy bottom let me see it right here in this if you're watching this on YouTube you can kind of see how compressed that the rear passenger side wheel is it's really digging deep into the fender
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, that's okay.
[SPEAKER_01]: Articulation is okay, but when I put a trailer on it or a lot of weight, it just squashes down.
[SPEAKER_00]: It looks like it's slammed.
[SPEAKER_00]: And so the idea is the sumo's keeping from doing that.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: But it seems like it's kind of the, it's also a little bit harder.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, kind of the poor man way of getting airspace.
[SPEAKER_01]: Which I kind of want to avoid, you know, airbags come with some baggage sometimes.
[SPEAKER_00]: And they're more expensive.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm still so comfortable with some baggage.
[SPEAKER_00]: So you're gonna take them out?
[SPEAKER_00]: Are they pretty easy to remove?
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, they're screw on.
[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
[SPEAKER_01]: So I might take them out, but I can already tell that the truck is a little bit more taught and a little bit more precise.
[SPEAKER_01]: And my new tires are helping out tremendously.
[SPEAKER_00]: And you got KO-IIIs?
[SPEAKER_01]: I got KO-IIIs.
[SPEAKER_00]: All right, let me ask and you got bigger ones, right, because it wants to rather grow a little too small.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, the original tires is like little roller skate, right?
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I put I put thirty fours on on my track.
[SPEAKER_01]: And then there's no rubbing.
[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm pretty happy.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, Toyota always undersizes their tires.
[SPEAKER_00]: It asked us like a lot of the manufacturers.
[SPEAKER_00]: I think they do that because of fuel economy.
[SPEAKER_01]: feel economy safety, you know, like roll stability.
[SPEAKER_01]: There's a lot of reasons why to do this, but I think us enthusiasts really like a more proportional, a little bit higher truck.
[SPEAKER_00]: Now, the biggest question I have of course is, I mean, it's great to take a V-A, it sounds wonderful, because I think you get to tear the exhaust if you're alright.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
[SPEAKER_00]: But what does your feel economy been like?
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't want to tell you.
[SPEAKER_00]: No.
[SPEAKER_00]: That's what I was worried about.
[SPEAKER_00]: Tell me, come on.
[SPEAKER_00]: Still the beans, Andre.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, with stock tires.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: Actually, when we did a ski trip over New Year's, I got actually something acceptable.
[SPEAKER_01]: I got like, eighteen and a half on the highway trip.
[SPEAKER_00]: A bad winner.
[SPEAKER_01]: Dude, that's a bad.
[SPEAKER_01]: With my bigger tires, which are a little bit heavier.
[SPEAKER_01]: And recently, you know, with hot temperatures here, I'm getting about fourteen to fifteen.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, that is a little bit more painful.
[SPEAKER_01]: So, and the fuel costs are not tremendously high right now.
[SPEAKER_01]: So, but I still, I mean, it's still, I have like a what the thirty two thirty three gallon tank in this particular retandra.
[SPEAKER_01]: And so to fill it up, it's almost haunted box.
[SPEAKER_01]: So, it sucks once a while.
[SPEAKER_00]: All right, and last question, would you buy it again?
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, you've had, keep in mind, so let's go back in time before this, you had the Colorado, which is a mid-sized truck, but you had kind of the bare bones one.
[SPEAKER_00]: And then before then, you had the EcoBoost, three-point-fibiliter, with onboard power, which was nice, because you could, yeah, I missed that Ford.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think I'm going to say two that I'm more power especially now a lot more ubiquitous, right?
[SPEAKER_00]: You're seeing a lot more trucks.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but also that that one fifty power boost hybrid was quick.
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't remember.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and this country is not that quick.
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it makes good noises, but it doesn't accelerate quite that tremendously.
[SPEAKER_01]: This we can't have it all on Drake Handley.
[SPEAKER_00]: You can have fast or quick trucks.
[SPEAKER_00]: You can have loud and engaging trucks.
[SPEAKER_00]: But you can't have fast engaging and loud trucks.
[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I really want to do before I answer your question.
[SPEAKER_01]: I want to take my tundra on a beautiful mountain trail.
[SPEAKER_00]: We should do it.
[SPEAKER_01]: Let's do it.
[SPEAKER_01]: Like Kingston Peak.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, let's go do it.
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, that would be fun.
[SPEAKER_01]: And I think it's worth it.
[SPEAKER_01]: I think I would do it again.
[SPEAKER_01]: I think I would buy this truck again.
[SPEAKER_00]: Good.
[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, let's move on.
[SPEAKER_00]: So the next truck that we bought, we're going in kind of time succession here was about the same time.
[SPEAKER_00]: We bought our Silverado
[SPEAKER_00]: H.D.
[SPEAKER_00]: heavy duty Dermax trail boss and the reason we got that was because we had just had our commons for three years so it was basically between the Ford or the Chevy and like many people we went with price I think I think with the Ford it would have been like eight or nine thousand dollars more to get the power stroke whereas our truck was more affordable yeah and there's good and bad
[SPEAKER_00]: both.
[SPEAKER_00]: Let's start with the bad because that's kind of more interesting in some ways.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, just to remind people, it also replaced our comments.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
[SPEAKER_01]: So we had a comments for several years actually before this heavy duty.
[SPEAKER_01]: And we haven't actually owned a Dura Max recently.
[SPEAKER_01]: I used to have an old one.
[SPEAKER_01]: And remember, I used to have it a thousand, too.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you're right, good and bad.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so I mean, the most amazing thing about the truck from our point of view is that even though we've had it what, ten months, we've put on thirteen thousand miles, which for you guys may not seem like a lot, but keep in mind, we are a wash in trucks.
[SPEAKER_00]: And so for us to put on that many miles when we have, you know, keys to a five of the trucks that we can take.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, so we go on events, so sometimes we're not even here, and also we get some loan vehicles from manufacturers as well for testing.
[SPEAKER_00]: So, so we may be, we're going to pull at this, I think, because it's time to pull at this.
[SPEAKER_00]: This might be a story that we might see coming down, and it has to do with the Alice and Brandon transmission.
[SPEAKER_00]: So when we got our truck, we parked it in the barn, and case noticed that there was a little puddle of something underneath, and we thought nothing of it, but you never want to see something pouring out of a brand new truck.
[SPEAKER_00]: And so we took it in to our local the other jazzians.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and it turned out that it was transmission fluid.
[SPEAKER_00]: No, it was coolant.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, sorry, it was coolant.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but in order to get at the coolant bleak, they had to pull the transmission.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, because it was kind of like the back seal of the engine.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it was where the coolant circuits are.
[SPEAKER_01]: That was a bit of a surprise.
[SPEAKER_01]: Obviously it's under warranty, right?
[SPEAKER_01]: But it was a bit of a shocker to me because
[SPEAKER_01]: actually lowering the transmission and the truck has what three four thousand miles at this point.
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think it had that.
[SPEAKER_01]: No, it wasn't brand new.
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it was still brand new, but it wasn't like the next day.
[SPEAKER_01]: It wasn't like it wasn't off the floor.
[SPEAKER_01]: They fixed it and hasn't leaked sense.
[SPEAKER_01]: No, it's been bulletproof ever since no issues, but we're hearing something else from a lot of owners.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so our friend Alan also bought HD, uh, twenty five hundred within the way.
[SPEAKER_00]: And this is actually his second Chevy HD.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, truck.
[SPEAKER_00]: And he had it in the shop for two months for a transmission issue transmission leak.
[SPEAKER_00]: And we just got a viewer who also had a transmission leak.
[SPEAKER_00]: He was pulling a air stream, took it to the dealer, and they said the dealer accordingly had nine of these trucks with transmission leaks awaiting parts.
[SPEAKER_00]: So there might be something happening with the Allison Brandon transmission in the new
[SPEAKER_00]: have you due to Silverado's yeah our viewers truck was I think twenty twenty four yeah Ellen's is twenty five so we don't know we're just putting it out there we don't want to create a stir but there is some smoke that's me there's fire right there is some smoke
[SPEAKER_01]: Right now it's mostly anecdotal, you know, several cases that we've noticed.
[SPEAKER_01]: But I think we need to keep our finger on the pulse.
[SPEAKER_00]: I think you need to keep pulling a death red and see what happens.
[SPEAKER_00]: It might be a big story.
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, a lot of the vehicles, a lot of the trucks have had just a lot of recalls recently and I think
[SPEAKER_00]: Ford is a champion of recalls.
[SPEAKER_00]: There's a number one.
[SPEAKER_00]: I think there's two reasons for that.
[SPEAKER_00]: First, cars and trucks are just getting so much more complicated, right?
[SPEAKER_00]: There's just so much more technology, whether it's safety, technology, whether it's electronics, or whether it's infotainment.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's all just becoming crazy, complicated.
[SPEAKER_00]: Whenever something gets complicated, there's much more chance for it to go wrong.
[SPEAKER_00]: The other, I think, part of it is that a lot of the manufacturer, and this is probably due to Tesla, are now doing updates and repairs over the air.
[SPEAKER_00]: So the recalls don't necessarily involve a trip to the dealer, unlike a transmission, which, of course, you probably not going to fix over the air.
[SPEAKER_00]: But it makes recalling some vehicles a lot easier.
[SPEAKER_00]: So they would prefer to do it over the air if they can.
[SPEAKER_00]: And that makes, you know, these headline numbers of, like, four, is recalling six hundred F-one, fifty, six hundred thousand, sorry F-one, fifty.
[SPEAKER_00]: But if it's an over the air update, it's not a big deal.
[SPEAKER_00]: But nevertheless, I kind of feel like the underlining current is we're seeing a lot more, a lot more recalls.
[SPEAKER_00]: And it's not just Ford.
[SPEAKER_00]: Ford is just a poster child because they've had, I think the most out of any of the manufacturers.
[SPEAKER_01]: I think they're up to ninety this year and maybe even more than that.
[SPEAKER_01]: Overall, not just trucks.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and we're talking about everything.
[SPEAKER_00]: But it is a story and I think it's something that is on a lot of people's minds because the last thing you want to do is buy new truck like poor Alan and then have it be the dealer for two months while they're trying to figure out why it's leaking transmission.
[SPEAKER_01]: And also the worst case, by the way, Alan told us that his truck was still driving driveable.
[SPEAKER_01]: He just noticed the leak, right?
[SPEAKER_01]: So it wasn't like he was stranded on the side of the road, but still he makes money with his truck.
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, this is a work truck.
[SPEAKER_01]: This is a work truck.
[SPEAKER_01]: This is not some sort of recreation vehicle that he uses on the weekend.
[SPEAKER_00]: He fixes the cells heavy equipment.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so for him to miss a truck for almost two months, he's losing money, right?
[SPEAKER_01]: So this is a huge deal for him.
[SPEAKER_00]: So I'll give you the quickly, I'll give you my list of the top five things I like on the New Silverado and the top five things I don't like.
[SPEAKER_00]: So let's start with the likes.
[SPEAKER_00]: I actually really like the styling.
[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's a good looking truck.
[SPEAKER_00]: I think initially when I saw it, it looked like a fist in the wind.
[SPEAKER_00]: In the air, but now they've kind of made it more sophisticated, so it's not quite as brutal.
[SPEAKER_00]: There's a lot of lines, there's a lot of intersecting things going on, but I think all in all it works.
[SPEAKER_00]: Number two thing I like about it is the fact that it has a functional hood scoop.
[SPEAKER_00]: There's so many manufacturers now that do all kinds of different air intakes that are just basically binicals that they're made of plastic, they stick on the hood.
[SPEAKER_00]: first time for style yeah yeah and this one actually has a functional hood scoop so i do love that number three i love the fact that the interior is much more car like and lot less truck like so for me the comments that we had that was a truck truck right i was a man struck hairy chusted man struck
[SPEAKER_00]: This is a kind of truck that you can put your significant other in and they would feel comfortable.
[SPEAKER_00]: Not necessarily driving because it's still a big asteroid but they would feel comfortable inside because all the controls and all of the functionality is very much car-like and it's just a pleasant place to be.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but it's still, I mean, the interior, the downside of it is still kind of a sea of black, because there's not, yeah, some of the negatives as well.
[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, you know what, but also I love about this.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to number three.
[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
[SPEAKER_00]: Keep going.
[SPEAKER_00]: And then you can, you can cover if you want.
[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
[SPEAKER_00]: If you disagree with me, that's fine.
[SPEAKER_00]: The other thing that I do like about it is the fact that it is kind of the sweet spot for an off-road or without being too crazy off-road.
[SPEAKER_00]: So I like the trail boss.
[SPEAKER_00]: I think I don't think they'll shock you can see him there in the picture.
[SPEAKER_00]: I ranch out.
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think they're built at all.
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think they're as good as yours.
[SPEAKER_00]: but but it is kind of it gives you the impression and we hear what folks we are taking it off road.
[SPEAKER_00]: It wasn't great.
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, have you these trucks are just big old.
[SPEAKER_00]: They're very heavy.
[SPEAKER_00]: They're not grand off road.
[SPEAKER_00]: They tend to kind of crush the land instead of going over the land.
[SPEAKER_00]: But nevertheless, the look is good.
[SPEAKER_00]: It looks rugged and it feels like it would do well.
[SPEAKER_00]: And the last thing I like which I think is the most important thing.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'd really do like that Dura Max.
[SPEAKER_00]: I think it is fuel efficient.
[SPEAKER_00]: It is very quick too.
[SPEAKER_00]: Very quick, very powerful.
[SPEAKER_00]: It tows well.
[SPEAKER_00]: So I think the power train is good.
[SPEAKER_00]: So those are my five likes.
[SPEAKER_00]: Should I go to my dislikes?
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, let me comment a little bit.
[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, go for it.
[SPEAKER_01]: So first of all, we're recently drag race.
[SPEAKER_01]: Heavy duty pickup trucks with trailers because a lot of you guys have been and gals have been asking for us to put some loads behind these trucks and actually see how they behave.
[SPEAKER_01]: And the Chevy basically, I mean, it was so close.
[SPEAKER_01]: Case and I are still arguing, even months after the fact, about a month later, that coup-one was it for, or Chevy.
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it was that good.
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it was very, very quick.
[SPEAKER_01]: And obviously, the comments lost, which is not good.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, the comments came in third.
[SPEAKER_01]: So, sorry for the guys again.
[SPEAKER_01]: Also, the Chevy is not maybe the top.
[SPEAKER_01]: efficient truck that we've tested because the power stroke is a little bit more efficient but still it's quite efficient when you compare it you know especially pulling trailers or just on the highway in general so I think the part train is great if they can only you know make it durable you know with the transmission and everything like that so I think it's really a strong point the interior you know sometimes you know those headrests are like rocks yeah there you put you put you made a granite there
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, let me go to my list when I'm okay.
[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
[SPEAKER_00]: So let's start with the interior.
[SPEAKER_00]: My first thing was going to be the seats, which includes to have to write pretty stuff.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: The seats are stiff and they don't have enough thigh support.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's just compared to our, we'll get to this in a second, our four depth one, fifty tremor.
[SPEAKER_00]: I would much rather spend a day behind the wheel of the four depth one, fifty just because of the seat.
[SPEAKER_00]: Not because of the dry trainers, it's really, but because of the seats.
[SPEAKER_00]: The seats are not great.
[SPEAKER_00]: I think the headrest, I think you nailed it.
[SPEAKER_00]: The headrest are very stiff.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's just not a great.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's not horrible.
[SPEAKER_00]: I've spent the whole day behind the wheel of that.
[SPEAKER_00]: We've driven it to California and back.
[SPEAKER_00]: Those were long days.
[SPEAKER_00]: Once you get into it, but it's not welcoming.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's not like something where you sit down and you're like, oh, oh, yes, yes.
[SPEAKER_00]: Let's turn on the heat and let's go book, baby.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's not like that.
[SPEAKER_00]: Number two on the interior is a lot of plastics.
[SPEAKER_01]: You have pretty hard plastics.
[SPEAKER_01]: This is not the top of the line truck by the way.
[SPEAKER_01]: No, this is a trail bus which is kind of based on kind of a mid-level a little bit more basic interior.
[SPEAKER_01]: So this is not, you know, not a leather everywhere.
[SPEAKER_00]: But there is a sea of gray.
[SPEAKER_00]: It could use like our tremor has those interesting like accent colors right the yellow orange accent color and the stitching.
[SPEAKER_00]: This could have a little bit more of that.
[SPEAKER_00]: It is kind of very work trucky which is fine.
[SPEAKER_00]: But it would be nice to have something nicer to look at.
[SPEAKER_00]: Now let's talk about exterior.
[SPEAKER_00]: I always think and we've kind of touched upon this.
[SPEAKER_00]: The wheels and tire packages are just too small.
[SPEAKER_00]: It just looks like the truck is too big for the tires.
[SPEAKER_01]: So these are thirty one inch wheels and about thirty four size tire.
[SPEAKER_01]: But this is a ginormous truck, Roman.
[SPEAKER_00]: It needs thirty five.
[SPEAKER_01]: at least possibly and they do have a zero two version of this truck which is rolling on thirty-fives but my comment you know you said you mentioned electric stereo look yeah quite a bit I agree with you I do like it but my only comment is I think they could have done more of the trail boss you know I'm saying this does not have a his electrical locker it has red recovery hooks
[SPEAKER_00]: I know you're it's all done.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, no, I know they could have done more I mean the tires are very important.
[SPEAKER_01]: These are kale threes So these are high quality altering tires, but they could have done more and made it a little bit more afro tough.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's my opinion
[SPEAKER_00]: The next slide wall, too.
[SPEAKER_00]: The next thing has to do with look at the front.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's a great shot goal.
[SPEAKER_00]: You can't see over that damn hood.
[SPEAKER_00]: He just can't see you.
[SPEAKER_00]: If you're five foot or less, you could get run over by this truck and we would know.
[SPEAKER_00]: You just can't.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's so tall and then the hood is so ginormous.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: I feel horrible driving it because the sight lines are absolutely horrendous for an off road truck, horrendous.
[SPEAKER_00]: You need cameras or you need somehow around it.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and then this is probably my biggest pet peeve and it has to do with this truck and some others that we have.
[SPEAKER_00]: Look, I understand that you want to separate the lower trim levels from the higher trim levels, but manufacturers do this all the time.
[SPEAKER_00]: Stop it with not including four auto, right?
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, you have only two high, two low, I'm sorry, two high, four low, but no automatic.
[SPEAKER_00]: No automatic.
[SPEAKER_00]: And here in Colorado, it is such a big deal because when ends up happening is you end up in this condition where it's nose and then it melts and then you've got snow in some places or water in some.
[SPEAKER_00]: And if you don't have for auto, then the truck just crabs makes it impossible to steer around stuff.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's just variable.
[SPEAKER_00]: Or you're constantly shifting it from one to the other.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you're constantly going for a, you know, two high to four.
[SPEAKER_00]: for hiring for a high yeah so let's let's I mean I like you said some more fancy versions of this truck have that feature yeah but ours doesn't and ours doesn't and our GMC AT for ex has it and such a nice feature to have yeah so that that's my biggest complaint it's something that is and an old customer money yeah but just work it into the price
[SPEAKER_00]: You can't be there ready paid seventy four thousand for this right seventy five or something yeah at fifty thousand I'd be like okay but at seventy some thousand come on guys give me four auto yeah and then you know you just set it and forget it and it's also good off road same thing yeah just set it and forget it and you can't do that unfortunately with this truck what what are you the things that you don't like Andre
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I think I kind of touched on it.
[SPEAKER_01]: I think the needs more sidewall on the tire.
[SPEAKER_01]: I think where they're going with this trailboss package on the heavy duty is that a little bit more cosmetic.
[SPEAKER_01]: Like we talked about the red tow hooks, the painted bumpers, black tout badging.
[SPEAKER_01]: But I think I'm always coming back to a more function.
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, function over form.
[SPEAKER_01]: Give me more sidewall.
[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe a rock slider.
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, we went out and
[SPEAKER_01]: We used all the steps on it, right?
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so share the performance did send us some gifts.
[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you.
[SPEAKER_00]: Share the performance.
[SPEAKER_00]: They sent us these steps and it was nice because the steps you don't see them here, but I put them out eventually.
[SPEAKER_00]: I knew them because I took my ninety-three-year-old grandfather to California without the step.
[SPEAKER_00]: I would have been like having to trample in him into the back seat.
[SPEAKER_00]: He's not the stuff I see used to be.
[SPEAKER_00]: I am poof.
[SPEAKER_00]: I still had to have a stoop form to go.
[SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, it was very well integrated.
[SPEAKER_00]: You just six bolts and the bolts are already the bolt holes are actually in the frame and they're actually plugged up so they don't get rusty.
[SPEAKER_00]: So really thoughtful engineering and you just stick the side steps on these aren't rock rails, these are side steps.
[SPEAKER_00]: And kind of crawling underneath it, which isn't hard, it's tall truck, and then you know, use a power equipment drill and attach them and off you go.
[SPEAKER_00]: And the other thing to give us, which is rather expensive, was a tan-out cover that is electric.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, a power.
[SPEAKER_01]: This is a fancy feature.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's like a hundred dollars.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, no, I think it's closer to two thousand.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's two thousand.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's five hundred dollars.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's quite expensive, but it really is a nice luxury feature because you can push a button, have your tunnel retract and come back.
[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's also weatherproof.
[SPEAKER_00]: But we always run into this issue right where you're going to the airport and you've got four friends that are coming and so it's you and four friends so you max out the truck with everybody and then they have all their stuff and you have no place to put it and of course it's going to start raining or snowing and with these I think Tesla did this with the cyber truck with these retractable townout covers it makes for a great place to store things because
[SPEAKER_00]: in a special district.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's also out of sight out of mind.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: So, and if you do it well enough, I'm sure somebody could break into it pretty easily.
[SPEAKER_00]: But for us, it be easier just to get the one that doesn't have the power tantal or you can just fold it open.
[SPEAKER_00]: So, you're right.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, there's many choices for that.
[SPEAKER_01]: I also love that we, our truck came from the dealership, from the factory, where the goose neck hitch.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's nice.
[SPEAKER_01]: So, first of all, we should have said, why are we buying this truck, right?
[SPEAKER_01]: because we need to pull heavier trailers once in a while.
[SPEAKER_01]: For example, our marketing director Grant had a trip where he was pulling several robots, right?
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, don't tell Grant that.
[SPEAKER_00]: Shells Andre, he rose crew.
[SPEAKER_00]: They're called shells, but I'm proud of you watching this.
[SPEAKER_00]: I know it's not a robot.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's a racing shell.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm picturing a canoe.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's like a canoe.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's it's crew.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's it's erasing.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm only four or eight.
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I don't know how many had on there, but they're long and they're big and they're very expensive in a shell.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, you could do a two person.
[SPEAKER_00]: You could do a four person.
[SPEAKER_00]: You could do an eight person.
[SPEAKER_00]: That's the two person.
[SPEAKER_00]: You can throw everything depending.
[SPEAKER_00]: So the diff like you can have a single you can have a double.
[SPEAKER_00]: and then you can have a point road one side you can roll both it's just there's a lot of different barriers I'm sorry Grant I'm not gonna roll both call call it reasonably I'm picturing like this boat you know I'm a little tiny lake in Madison Wisconsin where you and your loved one are so I'm not very heavy are they no they're not the heavy
[SPEAKER_01]: So, but we need, so we do a lot of truck testing.
[SPEAKER_01]: We need a good snack.
[SPEAKER_01]: I told the G-Wag capability.
[SPEAKER_00]: I told the G-Wag I was probably what, seventy-eight thousand and this until like eighteen.
[SPEAKER_01]: Up to eighteen five.
[SPEAKER_01]: So, so we needed that really.
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, sometimes we would need to move us something heavy.
[SPEAKER_01]: This is a truck to do it, right?
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, that's good with the barrel stuff from Allen.
[SPEAKER_00]: So, yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: So, it works well for that.
[SPEAKER_00]: And I love the way it does.
[SPEAKER_01]: I love the way it does.
[SPEAKER_00]: Having said that, I think that the comments had a little bit of a better turbo break.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, exhaust brake was a little definitely.
[SPEAKER_01]: I think all of us agree including case that the comments has one of the best exhaust brakes.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's louder, which is probably bad, but it also much more functional.
[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, we're running on a time.
[SPEAKER_00]: We're going to get going.
[SPEAKER_00]: We're halfway through.
[SPEAKER_00]: We got more to our show.
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
[SPEAKER_00]: Let's see.
[SPEAKER_00]: So at the end of last year, we bought a Ford Maverick.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
[SPEAKER_00]: And the reason we bought the Ford Maverick was because Ford finally did whatever he's asking for.
[SPEAKER_00]: That is, include the all-wheel drive with the hybrid before he had to choose one or the other.
[SPEAKER_00]: And so we got both, it started out as a nineteen thousand dollar truck when the first came out and the base truck for the XL, right?
[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
[SPEAKER_00]: We got the XLT, Tommy wanted heated seats so we had to get the tech package.
[SPEAKER_00]: It came out to thirty seven thousand dollars on dry.
[SPEAKER_00]: That's how it goes.
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, when you're shopping for your apartment or there's it's always something it always happens where you buy something or rent something way more expensive than you ever wanted to.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I don't know how we went from but I had a thought I'll give my thought yes, I'll give you my thought in a second The one disappointment that really bum me out when we bought it and I love this truck I'll tell you which of these will tell you which of these are our favorite trucks at the end of this list
[SPEAKER_00]: And I can tell you right now this is certainly high on the list, but the thing especially an eruption green.
[SPEAKER_00]: The thing that was most disappointing was I wanted the FX four.
[SPEAKER_00]: So once again, Ford finally did what we were asking, which is give you the all-wheel drive with the hybrid, but now you can't get the all-wheel drive with the FX four and the hybrid.
[SPEAKER_00]: So basically, while it's a very fuel efficient truck, we're talking like, forty two, forty three.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, crazy efficiency.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's what I'm talking about in this city.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, the tires are made.
[SPEAKER_01]: The tires are all seasoned.
[SPEAKER_01]: The ground clearance is not super great.
[SPEAKER_01]: So it does talk to four thousand now.
[SPEAKER_01]: So they didn't prove that.
[SPEAKER_01]: But I agree with you.
[SPEAKER_01]: Sometime somehow they forgot that efficiency, I mean, we want to combine everything together.
[SPEAKER_00]: We want everything.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: So for some reason, we can't go for a war or tremor package.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you can't have an hybrid.
[SPEAKER_00]: You can't do it.
[SPEAKER_00]: And I get it.
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, it's going to, you know, it's going to take away from its fuel economy.
[SPEAKER_00]: But so what?
[SPEAKER_00]: So that's why we buy raptors.
[SPEAKER_00]: Exactly.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm with you on that one.
[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, also really useful truck, right?
[SPEAKER_01]: Whenever you're in town, Raymond, and I'm like, what is Roman driving?
[SPEAKER_01]: You're often in this truck.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so my mom passed away in January, and I say that not because I want sympathy, but because I had to move all over stuff out of three bedroom condo, and this truck did it all.
[SPEAKER_00]: I did like, you know, run to the dump, probably twenty runs to donation.
[SPEAKER_00]: to goodwill, truck is phenomenal.
[SPEAKER_00]: And the reason it's phenomenal, and this is something that most of the trucks have forgotten, is it's easy to load stuff into it?
[SPEAKER_00]: The better it's in huge, but it's low-end, right?
[SPEAKER_00]: It's so much easier to put something in a low bed than in, like, the slow-router HD.
[SPEAKER_00]: It basically has to, like, press it over your shoulders.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's incredible.
[SPEAKER_01]: So, yeah, very useful truck.
[SPEAKER_01]: Also, very easy to get in and out of, right?
[SPEAKER_01]: So you don't have to climb steps or what not, you can just slide into it, get in.
[SPEAKER_01]: Also, big guys can fit pretty easily into it.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's probably the same size in two years as a mid-sized truck.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, in a slightly smaller, overall package.
[SPEAKER_00]: And what I love about it and the reason I drive it all the time is because it gets great fuel economy and it's easy to park and it's easy to live with.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's just a, it fits in my garage.
[SPEAKER_00]: It has all the utility of a truck yet it has none of the downsides of the truck, which is, you know, the tallness, the bigness, the, and a lot of truck guys and gals are probably like, that's why I want a truck.
[SPEAKER_00]: But I'm like, yeah, after a while, that gets old if you don't live in Texas.
[SPEAKER_00]: If you want to go to a type parking lot, imagine trying to park one of those lifted bro trucks.
[SPEAKER_00]: And at some point, you are going to want to do that.
[SPEAKER_00]: But let me give you my thought.
[SPEAKER_00]: I had a thought on Dre.
[SPEAKER_00]: I have one original thought a week, and this was my original thought.
[SPEAKER_00]: What is it?
[SPEAKER_00]: So I thought that right now there is only two vehicles in the segment, right?
[SPEAKER_00]: The compact truck, the Santa Cruz and the Maverick.
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think they actually get cross-shopped.
[SPEAKER_00]: I, what vehicle do you think in my head at least, and I'll try to make this argument, you think that the Maverick is taking sales from.
[SPEAKER_00]: In other words, who would normally, what vehicle would normally people buy that they're buying a Maverick instead of, pull your tanger?
[SPEAKER_00]: Take a think about it.
[SPEAKER_00]: Ranger.
[SPEAKER_00]: No.
[SPEAKER_00]: Remember, it's like a SUV.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's like a station wagon.
[SPEAKER_00]: You're close.
[SPEAKER_00]: I think I think that the people who used to buy Subaru outbacks are now buying Mavericks because it's the same type of person.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's an active lifestyle person who wants the utility of something right that is affordable, which it is that has all-wheel drive, which it does, that has all-weather, all kind of condition utility.
[SPEAKER_00]: And that is a little bit quirky.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's a little bit different than everybody else.
[SPEAKER_00]: So I think once upon a time, the person who would have bought a Subaru Outback is now driving a Maverick.
[SPEAKER_00]: I think that is the core customer of, I think for this trick, Ford probably knows that we could ask him, I suppose.
[SPEAKER_00]: But that to me, I feel like is the one that is the most likely to cross job a Subaru Outback by a Maverick.
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't have my finger on that pulse, but I've met many maverick owners.
[SPEAKER_01]: And for example, sometimes they're outdoorsy people, they load a mountain bike into it, or a motorcycle, maybe a dirt bike.
[SPEAKER_01]: And it's really easy, right, because it's very low.
[SPEAKER_01]: So I definitely can see that it's an outdoorsy person could be using it.
[SPEAKER_01]: And also a lot of, you know, just work people, contractors drive these as well, because they're very handy, very small and also capable.
[SPEAKER_00]: So it's just a small truck.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'll give you my top three things I dislike and the top three things I like.
[SPEAKER_00]: So let's start with like, they did update the styling for twenty twenty five.
[SPEAKER_00]: They changed kind of the headlight, the front fascia.
[SPEAKER_00]: I do like the styling.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's kind of awkward in the back, but in general, it looks like a truck while, you know, being small and compact.
[SPEAKER_00]: That's not easy to pull off.
[SPEAKER_00]: Like, because the small trucks kind of have a little bit of a like a personality that might not be as trucky as big you in like Chihuahua energy.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but it doesn't have that.
[SPEAKER_00]: So I think the Ford managed to make a stylish and yet trucky.
[SPEAKER_00]: So I like that.
[SPEAKER_00]: I think we touched upon the most important thing which is fuel economy is exceptional.
[SPEAKER_00]: Forty crazy.
[SPEAKER_00]: Plenty of power, planetary years ago.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's drony and moony.
[SPEAKER_00]: It is moony, but for the most part.
[SPEAKER_00]: But when you're getting that kind of fuel efficiency, you can kind of forgive it for a truck.
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if any truck that comes even close.
[SPEAKER_00]: And I mean, you can talk about the Santa Cruz in terms of its fuel economy.
[SPEAKER_00]: There's no truck zero unless it's electric.
[SPEAKER_01]: and electric truck could be but it's a whole different game.
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't even think electric truck is as efficient because electricity now especially public charging is very expensive.
[SPEAKER_00]: You can spend a lot more money charging like that GMC trail boss that we have the electric one than you would driving this thing around.
[SPEAKER_00]: Every time I fill it up I put like twelve gallons in it and the things is I've got six or miles of range which is probably isn't true but it's close.
[SPEAKER_00]: And then the thing that I also find that I like a lot about it is just how easy it is to live with.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's like the right height, the right interior, the steering wheel, the steering is nice and the driving dynamics are fine.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's all just really good and really easy.
[SPEAKER_00]: And every time I give them the choice of getting into a bigger truck, I kind of default to this guy because it's just so easy.
[SPEAKER_00]: Things I don't like about it.
[SPEAKER_00]: Everything's in the screen.
[SPEAKER_01]: including the HFAC.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, including air conditioning and all that stuff.
[SPEAKER_01]: I just like that too.
[SPEAKER_01]: Everything.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: Also, there's a dial rotary dial.
[SPEAKER_01]: Do you like that transmission?
[SPEAKER_00]: I got this to it.
[SPEAKER_00]: I would have preferred something else, but it's fine.
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I don't like the price.
[SPEAKER_00]: I feel like a thirty seven thousand dollars.
[SPEAKER_00]: We're really starting to push it because the materials, even though we got the tech package which gives you heated seats and heated steering wheel,
[SPEAKER_00]: It does feel like a lot for what is a basic truck.
[SPEAKER_00]: So the price at twenty five was great one nineteen for the base one, but let's say twenty five a couple years ago even thirty but a thirty seven oh gee you're really pushing it for for for a small truck and then if you get into the tremor you're as forty
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: Still, I mean, everything is getting more expensive and Maverick is no exception.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's also built in Mexico.
[SPEAKER_01]: So it could have different, you know, tariff issues or not.
[SPEAKER_00]: Final thing.
[SPEAKER_00]: Go ahead.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: Go ahead.
[SPEAKER_00]: Go ahead.
[SPEAKER_00]: You final thing.
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't like the tires.
[SPEAKER_00]: They're just too sedanny.
[SPEAKER_00]: They don't feel like they should be in a truck.
[SPEAKER_00]: They feel like they should be in a car.
[SPEAKER_00]: So if we actually were probably going to sell it as much as I hate to say this, we've done every video.
[SPEAKER_00]: And if you're interested in it, info actually ask a TFL truck.
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know what they're going for, but we'll sell it at a reasonable, but yet market rate.
[SPEAKER_00]: And I hate to sell it, but once again, once we're done with the truck, we're kind of done with it.
[SPEAKER_00]: So if you're just what almost nine thousand miles like eight thousand so we've been using it We've been using it pretty well also didn't like the fact that we had a bedline and I'm sick of having the bedline forwards
[SPEAKER_00]: We had to do the same thing with the Ford, and we didn't have to do the Silverado.
[SPEAKER_00]: Come on Ford, just bedline all your trucks.
[SPEAKER_00]: Who wants a painted bed?
[SPEAKER_00]: Who the heck wants a painted bed?
[SPEAKER_01]: That's just crotch immediately on the first time.
[SPEAKER_00]: And it starts rusting.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that is just, well, F&F Jewel never rust my friend.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: But, um, that's all the cyber truck.
[SPEAKER_01]: Here's what I also like about this bedline.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'll give you a couple things.
[SPEAKER_01]: My one like and one dislike.
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, since we need to move on.
[SPEAKER_01]: Case night have pulled several trailers with the Maverick and it always is confident stable.
[SPEAKER_01]: Even towing four thousand pounds, which is the maximum for this little guy.
[SPEAKER_01]: It still doesn't mind it.
[SPEAKER_01]: It still does it quite capable in that area.
[SPEAKER_01]: I just
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't like the droning of the, you know, the CECVT or the Terry Gears Planetary Gear Set, which is very different from a CVT.
[SPEAKER_01]: So it's continuously variable, it's just that not a belt driven.
[SPEAKER_00]: So here's an issue that we should talk about.
[SPEAKER_00]: What is it?
[SPEAKER_00]: So, you know, is an elephant by any other name still an elephant.
[SPEAKER_00]: So what I mean by that is like, you know, a CVT has this belt that runs over a cone
[SPEAKER_00]: a traditional CVT and it makes a drony and it makes it boring to drive an ECVT a planetary gear that has gears that actually do the exact same thing that a belt would do but would do except it's much more sophisticated and it's much more or it's supposed to be tougher tougher yeah but the the way that it drives is identical you still have that same problem because it tries to you know
[SPEAKER_01]: Keep the engine in the hierarchy.
[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's for it.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's most fuel efficient or most banned.
[SPEAKER_00]: So while they're mechanically nothing like each other.
[SPEAKER_00]: So you've got an elephant and you've got a giraffe.
[SPEAKER_00]: They're very different.
[SPEAKER_00]: But if they do the same thing or maybe let's say an elephant in a rhino.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm trying to really torturing this in a rhino.
[SPEAKER_00]: But they're kind of the same.
[SPEAKER_00]: These big animals, it's kind of do the same thing.
[SPEAKER_00]: It doesn't matter that they're very different or doesn't matter.
[SPEAKER_00]: And that's the conundrum that we run into.
[SPEAKER_01]: I think the answer to this question is, you know, ten years down the line, which one will break and which one won't break?
[SPEAKER_01]: I guess that's a real answer.
[SPEAKER_00]: And if you get forty four or forty two MPG, that's maybe you could maybe you can put up with it.
[SPEAKER_01]: But also like if you're driving a Maverick hybrid, maybe acceleration is not your top priority.
[SPEAKER_01]: Because you like efficiency, you like commuting, maybe you don't want to go racing at every stoplight.
[SPEAKER_01]: So that's that.
[SPEAKER_00]: Let's move on to keep on and sold in F- six hundred.
[SPEAKER_00]: In this whole time in nineteen seventy-six you bought and sold in nineteen seventy-six f-six hundred bachelor.
[SPEAKER_01]: Where's he?
[SPEAKER_00]: Our old fire scary a fire truck.
[SPEAKER_00]: So we found this guy at The auction at the auction.
[SPEAKER_00]: We used P card auction donated to actual people donate things and we bought this yourself not the company.
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I think here's what happened.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean, this was a Friday afternoon, right?
[SPEAKER_00]: Kind of got better.
[SPEAKER_00]: So we were having our tequila filled up joking.
[SPEAKER_00]: No.
[SPEAKER_01]: We don't drink tequila.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, we don't drink alcohol.
[SPEAKER_01]: So this came up on the screen and it caught our eye because first of all, it's full will drive.
[SPEAKER_01]: Come on.
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, this is a big truck which has a lot of character and it's really cool.
[SPEAKER_01]: Look at all those levers you can pull.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's not a lever pulling.
[SPEAKER_01]: If you want to drive it and I was like and I was I really wanted to buy it, but then I I was looking at a three thousand dollar price tag and then you go oh I'll throw a couple hundred dollars at this
[SPEAKER_01]: Alexing you know done we're driving up by seventy but you know what's the George town do you know what close the deal our producer Cole entered my office and he said you're getting dragged into this and he said look at the door
[SPEAKER_01]: It says Mount Batchler on it.
[SPEAKER_01]: Then Colis from Oregon.
[SPEAKER_01]: And so he had some sort of, you know, attached with the Mount Batchler.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, well, he likes Mount Batchler.
[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm like, and I've been to Mount Batchler.
[SPEAKER_01]: Never skied there, but I've been in that area a couple of times.
[SPEAKER_00]: I guess Grizziel Dudu sold it to all my gosh.
[SPEAKER_00]: He was a character.
[SPEAKER_00]: Who's a character?
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: That's not the word was F. This.
[SPEAKER_00]: I could probably stop.
[SPEAKER_00]: Remember, he told me to grow some up here.
[SPEAKER_00]: He grew up here.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: He told me to grow up here.
[SPEAKER_00]: He's worried about driving it because we didn't know.
[SPEAKER_00]: And it's thinking fuel and break fluid.
[SPEAKER_00]: We're on top of a mountain and you have to drive it down a mountain.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's like, oh, come on, I grow up here.
[SPEAKER_00]: It also, it also bent our trail.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, there was a big jug of water, which we weren't sure what was about the screwdriver.
[SPEAKER_00]: These are not things that give you confidence.
[SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, so, so we put on the trailer, which bent it fast forward.
[SPEAKER_00]: You'll see how the big text trailer held up, but it, how much does this thing weigh?
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, nobody knows.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's the same thing.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's the same thing.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, nobody knows.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, there it goes because I can see the trailer just trailer bending out of this weight.
[SPEAKER_00]: And yet there's the, there's the Silverado.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we're using the Silverado and the Silverado didn't even blink an eye.
[SPEAKER_01]: Our heavy duty truck just, just totally beautifully.
[SPEAKER_01]: So, oh, look at the way.
[SPEAKER_00]: Everything is cool.
[SPEAKER_00]: Our friends at Waysafe, yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, our Waysafe helped out very safe.
[SPEAKER_01]: So,
[SPEAKER_01]: A couple of things.
[SPEAKER_01]: It has rockwell axles.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's very tough.
[SPEAKER_01]: Four by four.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's got a lot of character.
[SPEAKER_01]: David loved it.
[SPEAKER_01]: David wants to put a Cummins engine into it.
[SPEAKER_00]: And then you started and you found out that there was oil.
[SPEAKER_00]: No sorry, gas, gas, gas pulling in the V of the engine.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, so the carburetor is leaking in the dumping fuel on top of the engine, which is not ideal.
[SPEAKER_01]: No, it's a so
[SPEAKER_01]: And then I went to register it and I go to my local, you know, county.
[SPEAKER_01]: And they said, oh, Andre, you have to put get it through emissions.
[SPEAKER_01]: Cool.
[SPEAKER_01]: It has no mufflers almost.
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it's a fire truck from nineteen seventy-six.
[SPEAKER_00]: So here in Colorado, the rule is if you have been in this place, it's a pretty seventy-five, you'd be okay.
[SPEAKER_00]: five, or older, you're fine, or younger, you gotta get emissions.
[SPEAKER_00]: And the rule is it has to have all the emissions stuff that it came with.
[SPEAKER_00]: So you wouldn't have had to spend.
[SPEAKER_00]: But I don't know what that had originally.
[SPEAKER_00]: You would have had enough.
[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe nothing.
[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe that VA wasn't even original to it.
[SPEAKER_00]: Who knows?
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I actually tracked the bin.
[SPEAKER_01]: I actually reached out to Ford, our friends at Ford, and they helped me track it.
[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that the engine was original.
[SPEAKER_00]: So there you go.
[SPEAKER_00]: But you would have to put everything that was on it for munitions point in the seventies, which is a lot of vacuum tubes.
[SPEAKER_00]: and all kinds of vacuum, charcoal, and charcoe filters, and so I sold it.
[SPEAKER_00]: So you sold to our man Dan, but you know who got it registered in titled in Georgia for twenty bucks.
[SPEAKER_00]: There you go, without even having the frickin' truck.
[SPEAKER_01]: So, by the way, Rockwell.
[SPEAKER_01]: I've been kind of almost keeping this a secret, the fact that I sold it.
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
[SPEAKER_01]: Because I want to get out of the bag now.
[SPEAKER_01]: The cat is out, I'm sorry.
[SPEAKER_01]: But the reason why I've been trying to hold on to this information is because I want to show it driving again.
[SPEAKER_01]: So my goal is to get the leak fixed when you have a new carburetor.
[SPEAKER_00]: How much did you pay for this thing?
[SPEAKER_00]: There was like three K.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, well with fees, it was like, three, four hundred.
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
[SPEAKER_01]: Plus.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's a lot of truck.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's a lot of truck.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, four wheels drive.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's a good deal.
[SPEAKER_00]: Back in the seventies, not a lot of trucks were four wheel drive.
[SPEAKER_00]: This is not something that's especially this heavy one.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, the F six hundred.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, those things were all too.
[SPEAKER_01]: So, but then he's really an enthusiast.
[SPEAKER_01]: He's amazing.
[SPEAKER_01]: He's excited.
[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to get a driving and I want to do a video with it.
[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, so pretty cool.
[SPEAKER_00]: Plus it had those, those wheels and tires that are, what are those things called where they, or if you want to change the tire, there's a little bit rims.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, we don't make her.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, we don't make her.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, those things flying off and decapitate you.
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, now my wife is happy because it's off the book.
[SPEAKER_00]: She never brought it home.
[SPEAKER_00]: You hit it at the ranch, Audrey.
[SPEAKER_00]: Come on.
[SPEAKER_00]: Actually, she's never seen it.
[SPEAKER_00]: She's never seen it.
[SPEAKER_00]: But she knew it was on the books.
[SPEAKER_00]: He was on the books somewhere.
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think her seeing it would make it better.
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think
[SPEAKER_00]: She'd be like, oh, it's a big side of the four wheel drive in the Rockwells.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's okay, I'm right.
[SPEAKER_00]: All right, let's keep going.
[SPEAKER_00]: We bought another truck.
[SPEAKER_00]: We bought another truck.
[SPEAKER_00]: We brought an F, one fifty with the interval coyote five liter.
[SPEAKER_01]: So this F on fifty replaced our company Ranger, right?
[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
[SPEAKER_00]: No, no, it did not.
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, the pumpkin replaced a Ranger.
[SPEAKER_01]: No, it did not.
[SPEAKER_01]: Pumpkin replaced an SUV.
[SPEAKER_00]: No, no, but in my mind, Pumpkin, which is Pumpkin is the name of our GMC AT-IVX, which I'm not telling you why.
[SPEAKER_00]: It replaced the Pumpkin replaced.
[SPEAKER_00]: So we also bought, this is not a car.
[SPEAKER_00]: When I was talking about it, we also bought a Bronco.
[SPEAKER_00]: And the Bronco is fifty-five thousand.
[SPEAKER_00]: And we sold four runner, four runner.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
[SPEAKER_00]: And so that's why I think the four runner
[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, so in your mind, it might be for us to be in a draft or draft, in your after for, in my mind, but the logistics of it out important.
[SPEAKER_00]: But let's just say that the F-one-Fifty came to us because we wanted a V-A, which is true.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and it's also one of the most popular trucks.
[SPEAKER_00]: The F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, so the ram is a different story because the hemies still not available.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's coming out later.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: The hemie we want to be eight and you can only get the RHL.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, exactly.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sorry.
[SPEAKER_00]: You can only get the hurricane, the hurricane all those.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and the RHL was crazy expensive.
[SPEAKER_00]: Exactly.
[SPEAKER_00]: So we got so the so the F-one fifty tremor was originally sixty eight.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, and that's also why Ford was doing employee pricing.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: So we have like eight thousand dollars off.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it was a good deal.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, you surprised me with this truck.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, here it is.
[SPEAKER_00]: You may be thinking to sell sixty three, which I think we end up paying for it.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's a lot for an F-one fifty, but now, but it's a lot of truck.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's a lot of truck, yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so it's got almost ten thousand of towing capacity.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's got seventeen hundred pounds of payload.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's got off-road tires, thirty-three's.
[SPEAKER_01]: And plus we can compare it in many videos, right?
[SPEAKER_01]: The new Tundra that's getting updated, the new RAM that's coming out to Hemies.
[SPEAKER_01]: So we can compare it to many other vehicles, right?
[SPEAKER_00]: Plus, Andre, plus.
[SPEAKER_00]: And this is a big plus.
[SPEAKER_00]: We could supercharge it.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
[SPEAKER_00]: We can't do it quite yet because we still have to compare it.
[SPEAKER_00]: But in the back of my mind is the fact that you can buy from the dealer from Ford Performance of Wipple Supercharger that gives it what?
[SPEAKER_00]: Eight hundred horsepower more.
[SPEAKER_00]: No, it's more like seven hundred.
[SPEAKER_00]: There's a seven hundred seven something.
[SPEAKER_00]: But it's fully warranty.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's eleven thousand dollars, which is a lot.
[SPEAKER_00]: But still, eight seven hundred horsepower for, you know, eleven thousand dollars going up from four.
[SPEAKER_00]: We have four hundred.
[SPEAKER_00]: Four hundred.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so you're almost doubling not quite doubling but but but you're adding a lot of power to it.
[SPEAKER_01]: Plus let's well, is it like twelve let's say it's twelve.
[SPEAKER_01]: So sixty three plus twelve that's seventy five.
[SPEAKER_01]: For that much money you will never touch a raptor R.
[SPEAKER_00]: You will never touch your Raptor.
[SPEAKER_00]: You will never touch your Raptor.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
[SPEAKER_01]: So, a Raptor R is like one-fifteen hundred-fifteen thousand or maybe more with you know adjustments or dealer markups.
[SPEAKER_01]: So, yeah, so that would be a lot of value for this truck.
[SPEAKER_00]: So there's two levels of tremor.
[SPEAKER_00]: This is not the higher level.
[SPEAKER_00]: So we don't have the difference.
[SPEAKER_00]: We don't have the torsion front end.
[SPEAKER_00]: We don't have four auto.
[SPEAKER_00]: We don't have four auto.
[SPEAKER_00]: And once again, I was unaware that there were two, until we bought it, that there were two versions of tremor.
[SPEAKER_01]: But the other tremor version, you know, with a fancy front differential and a four auto, that's like at like ten thousand dollars to the price.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's a lot.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's a lot.
[SPEAKER_00]: I rather spend that on a supercharger.
[SPEAKER_00]: And so it's been kind of the workhorse truck.
[SPEAKER_00]: I have to say as much as I like to V-eight, it doesn't have a great sound.
[SPEAKER_00]: I think Ford needs uncorked the exhaust.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's very quiet.
[SPEAKER_00]: You know what's funny?
[SPEAKER_00]: So if we do the supercharged we're also going to have to do the exhaust.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
[SPEAKER_01]: Um, you know what's funny.
[SPEAKER_01]: Whenever I hear this five liter outside of the truck, uh, it sounds good, but inside it's muffled.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's very quiet.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's still quiet on the inside.
[SPEAKER_00]: So I agree.
[SPEAKER_00]: Um, and I'll give you, I'll do the same thing.
[SPEAKER_00]: We're running out of time.
[SPEAKER_00]: So I'll do my three top three things I like and top three things I don't like.
[SPEAKER_00]: So I'll start with what I like.
[SPEAKER_00]: First, I like the fact that it's a tremor.
[SPEAKER_00]: I once again, I think it's a sweet spot.
[SPEAKER_00]: It gives you just enough off-road ability.
[SPEAKER_00]: Let's face it.
[SPEAKER_00]: If you're going to go into some deep and steep stuff in Moab, even a full-size track is probably not the right tool.
[SPEAKER_00]: I think, you know, the right tool for wrangler or something, rubicon or a mid-size, not a full-size.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, right.
[SPEAKER_00]: A one ton is still a big truck.
[SPEAKER_00]: So if you are going to go off road, this gives you just enough off-road ability that it makes it very possible to do ninety percent of everything that you need to do.
[SPEAKER_00]: Here we are showing off our brand new floor mask.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that we're provided by three.
[SPEAKER_00]: What's it name a company?
[SPEAKER_00]: Three W. Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: There you go.
[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
[SPEAKER_00]: Nice.
[SPEAKER_00]: So I love the fact that it's just kind of the Goldilocks truck.
[SPEAKER_00]: I also love the V eight.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: And much as much as it is slower than the EcoBoost.
[SPEAKER_00]: Let's face it.
[SPEAKER_00]: If you want power.
[SPEAKER_00]: the EcoBoost is going to give you more torque, more power, you're just going to get just real world power.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: I remember we were talking that MDC trailer back from Utah and I kind of wished I had the three point five going up the I called that.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: And I mean, not that this is lacking in power, but it is working hard.
[SPEAKER_00]: And that trailer weighs what seven and a half thousand pounds.
[SPEAKER_00]: So it was, it was was was working hard.
[SPEAKER_01]: and the eco was makes it look easier but nevertheless it sounds great and the number one thing that I love about it are the seats I think the seats are super comfy it is and I would say the same thing for the Ranger we had I like the Ranger seats you did not hit me in the back of my bed I did I think for in my opinion I was that we have different body types you know all of us are a little bit different but I like the Ranger seats I like the Maverick seat and I like the F-F-F-F-F-F-F
[SPEAKER_00]: Here's what I don't like about it.
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't like the fact that it's not the higher version of the tremor.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's kind of like you wish you had.
[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I mean?
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: What don't I get?
[SPEAKER_00]: And the stuff that you don't get is kind of important.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: And it's kind of useful.
[SPEAKER_00]: So I don't remember.
[SPEAKER_00]: It is a bummer.
[SPEAKER_00]: I didn't like the fact that once again, we had a bedline it.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: Come on.
[SPEAKER_00]: And if you went to order it from the factory, Ford will bedline it for you, but then you got to order it.
[SPEAKER_00]: And most people don't buy trucks that way.
[SPEAKER_01]: And also, sometimes, I mean, for us, and we didn't order this tremor, we did order the maverick though, remember?
[SPEAKER_01]: And if you order it with a bad liner, it could slow down the process, which we don't like, usually.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: And then the number one thing I don't like about it, I kind of touched upon this is the exhaust door.
[SPEAKER_00]: I think it just, you got the V-A, it sounds good in the back, but inside, it needs a little bit more.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and a raptor is much louder, even though it's a six cylinder turbo.
[SPEAKER_00]: So I wish Ford would either pipe it in or somehow, you know, that verbal is phenomenal.
[SPEAKER_00]: Coyote is just a great engine and I wish I could hear it.
[SPEAKER_00]: Those are my likes of this like so about you.
[SPEAKER_01]: I love the way drives.
[SPEAKER_01]: I think
[SPEAKER_01]: It's just a familiar vehicle, a familiar truck.
[SPEAKER_01]: So even though I agree with you, the EcoBoost has a lot more torque, immediate torque, and this engine needs to rev up before it actually does something.
[SPEAKER_01]: I just love everyday driving it.
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't like the rake, you know, when you look at it from the side, without the trailer, the front is way lower than the rear.
[SPEAKER_01]: I know it's a choice for them.
[SPEAKER_01]: I just don't like that look.
[SPEAKER_01]: I want it more level.
[SPEAKER_00]: Kind of a reverse cowgirl look.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so, but that's a small dislike.
[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's overall a pretty good truck.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's a little bit bouncy with a trailer.
[SPEAKER_01]: It is bouncy with that.
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, that's a little bit bouncy.
[SPEAKER_00]: You don't get any kind of cool branded tracks with it.
[SPEAKER_01]: No, you just get that you get the foxes from Bill Stein.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's a Ford Rancho equivalent.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's I think they're called tremor.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's a Ford.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's a Ford thing.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's a Ford thing.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's a Ford thing.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so this bouncy whenever you put a trailer out of the thing jumps around like a kangaroo, it's kind of weird.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so maybe the softer springs slightly softer spring in the rear.
[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe has something to do with it?
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I'm not sure.
[SPEAKER_01]: All right, so.
[SPEAKER_00]: So there you go.
[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
[SPEAKER_01]: Now let's keep we're done the stretch from stretch.
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, we bought this military truck a decommissioned military giant general giant and it's a Bob Duce and a half.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, there she is.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'll give you my top three things I like, and top three things I dislike, and top three things I like, the truck, top three things I dislike, nothing.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's crazy.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not going to review it because no one's buying these things right as a utilitarian or as this is the Harley of trucks.
[SPEAKER_00]: The reason you buy this is because you want to go down the road and you want people to kind of gap at you open mouth as you go buying in the world's biggest pickup truck, which is what this is.
[SPEAKER_00]: Is it comfortable?
[SPEAKER_00]: No.
[SPEAKER_00]: Is it quiet?
[SPEAKER_00]: No.
[SPEAKER_00]: Does it haul a lot?
[SPEAKER_00]: Probably not.
[SPEAKER_00]: Does it, you know, does it, does it, does it, does it comfortable?
[SPEAKER_00]: Is it fun to drive?
[SPEAKER_00]: None of that is true, but nevertheless, it is one bad ass truck.
[SPEAKER_00]: And sometimes the more uncomfortable and the more
[SPEAKER_00]: uh... utilitarian something is the cooler it is and this is the ultimate in cool that's a that's what i'm gonna go with it if we have a flood i will be there with this truck yes you'll be saving people helping people because it really on forty four's right
[SPEAKER_01]: I'll be the first one there.
[SPEAKER_01]: And the air intake are like five six feet off the ground.
[SPEAKER_00]: We barely got at home because it was too tall for almost.
[SPEAKER_00]: Almost.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
[SPEAKER_01]: And so what I love about this truck primarily is just
[SPEAKER_01]: It's presence.
[SPEAKER_01]: When you're next to it and it looks it's the military green, right?
[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's called arc green or there's some acronym that describes it because it's kind of a matte finish, right?
[SPEAKER_01]: It's not shiny.
[SPEAKER_01]: When you look at it, when I look at it,
[SPEAKER_01]: It looks like a little tanker toy came to life, right?
[SPEAKER_01]: It looks like a little toy truck that's a military truck.
[SPEAKER_01]: Once again, it's saving our life once again the right time wait because we didn't want to overload our tow vehicle.
[SPEAKER_01]: We didn't want to underload it or we saved that again.
[SPEAKER_01]: I love the presence of it.
[SPEAKER_01]: I love the sound of it.
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, that diesel land is unbelievable.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's a truck.
[SPEAKER_00]: If you're going to try to review this as a practical pickup, you're going to be miserable.
[SPEAKER_00]: But as the ultimate truck toy, as the ultimate tank a truck toy, a tank a truck come to life.
[SPEAKER_00]: What is better than it's nothing.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
[SPEAKER_01]: For that reason, I love it.
[SPEAKER_01]: I have one issue with it, Roman.
[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
[SPEAKER_01]: Let's hear it.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's top speed.
[SPEAKER_01]: or the lack thereof.
[SPEAKER_01]: It does not have top speed.
[SPEAKER_01]: I topped it out at fifty-four and a half miles an hour.
[SPEAKER_00]: Was it real coming to an end?
[SPEAKER_00]: Was it shaking?
[SPEAKER_01]: No, it was, it was loud.
[SPEAKER_01]: I was mostly afraid because, you know, these big diesel engines didn't like to rev high.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's got a caterpillar.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's got a caterpillar.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's not humongous.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's a six point six liter.
[SPEAKER_01]: So it's not a massive semi truck engine.
[SPEAKER_01]: But nonetheless, it was, I think it was like, twenty five hundred RPM or three thousand RPM.
[SPEAKER_01]: So,
[SPEAKER_01]: If you don't want to go like state to state, travel long distances, that would be very painful.
[SPEAKER_01]: But do everything else is just, this truck is just super cool.
[SPEAKER_00]: Somebody in the comments said we should have routed that exhaust out the bottom and out of the top.
[SPEAKER_00]: That's why it's so loud.
[SPEAKER_00]: The exhaust comes out right by the gap.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's not really an option.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's how the truck was born.
[SPEAKER_00]: I guess you could change anything.
[SPEAKER_01]: You could change anything.
[SPEAKER_01]: You could change anything.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: So that's GG.
[SPEAKER_00]: That's GG.
[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
[SPEAKER_00]: And the last thing about, which is, this is, this is, this is for the mammogram, my favorite.
[SPEAKER_00]: We call pumpkin because this is our, this is an interesting track because you honed the cousin to this, right?
[SPEAKER_00]: You own the Colorado Trail Boss.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: Trail Boss.
[SPEAKER_00]: And this is the AT four, but it's, it's got the X. The X actually gives you a lot more.
[SPEAKER_00]: It doesn't have the AV.
[SPEAKER_00]: It doesn't have the AV, but the AV gives you thirty-five and gives you like a seventy-five thousand dollar price tag.
[SPEAKER_00]: That's like twenty-five thousand dollars more than this.
[SPEAKER_00]: This one was like fifty-five, I think, or fifty-six.
[SPEAKER_00]: Actually it was identical to the Ranger actor almost.
[SPEAKER_00]: So if you compare it directly to the Ranger actor, you're getting a lot less.
[SPEAKER_00]: You're getting two less cylinders.
[SPEAKER_00]: You're getting a less horsepower.
[SPEAKER_00]: We're getting less horsepower, but you are getting dual lockers.
[SPEAKER_00]: You're getting a nice interior.
[SPEAKER_00]: You're getting, I think a nicer interior.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: And for me, and I know this is very superficial, Andre, but I love the colors called, I think desert sun.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's bright orange.
[SPEAKER_00]: It is a brightest orange I've ever seen.
[SPEAKER_00]: And I am a sucker for color and I love this color.
[SPEAKER_00]: I just love it.
[SPEAKER_00]: I love the white interior.
[SPEAKER_00]: I love the red sea bell.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's so outlandish and
[SPEAKER_00]: It's like the eighties all over again.
[SPEAKER_00]: And, you know, it makes me happy every time I get in it.
[SPEAKER_00]: It doesn't have the same amount of power that the Ranger Raptor had.
[SPEAKER_00]: But it does have like real buttons as opposed to like all digital.
[SPEAKER_00]: All digital.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: So the locking differentials are actually switches.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
[SPEAKER_01]: Physical switches that you pull in push.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm still in the fence on the collar.
[SPEAKER_01]: I usually am a collar guy, love collar.
[SPEAKER_00]: See, there it's stuck right there because it's on thirty-three's.
[SPEAKER_01]: We're showing you the threat cone, which is one of the more difficult trails.
[SPEAKER_01]: It needs a slightly bigger tire, but the guys still got it over the obstacle gatekeeper.
[SPEAKER_00]: So you had the Colorado and you had kind of the base version.
[SPEAKER_00]: So you much more, much more affordable in the trail boss.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: I played about forty-one thousand for my truck.
[SPEAKER_01]: This was two and a half years ago.
[SPEAKER_01]: This is what fifty-five fifty-six.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's so compared to this truck.
[SPEAKER_00]: So this has, when you get the X, you also get the heads up display.
[SPEAKER_00]: So you get all the bells always.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, you have cruise control.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, and he's in cool seats.
[SPEAKER_00]: I love looking at those rock rails.
[SPEAKER_01]: They're functional because Tommy used them.
[SPEAKER_01]: And nothing happened.
[SPEAKER_01]: They didn't bend.
[SPEAKER_01]: They did those small scratch happened, but they didn't bend.
[SPEAKER_01]: It was really functional.
[SPEAKER_01]: I love these tires, by the way.
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, these three three.
[SPEAKER_01]: So compared to my truck, same power plant.
[SPEAKER_01]: So still three hundred and ten horsepower, which is a little bit buzzing in the end.
[SPEAKER_01]: The end is a little bit buzzing.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's not very satisfying sound.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's slow, but it's not slow.
[SPEAKER_01]: So everything, I love everything about this truck, except it didn't do so well on the eye gauntlet.
[SPEAKER_01]: So we do this towing test in the mountains.
[SPEAKER_01]: And this truck was, obviously, stable and confident, but it didn't perform well on there.
[SPEAKER_00]: Huh?
[SPEAKER_01]: It's six thousand.
[SPEAKER_01]: Six thousand with it.
[SPEAKER_01]: And we did over, I think, eleven brake applications on the way down, which is on the high side.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: So it doesn't have a lot of back pressure, but the engine is only two point seven liters.
[SPEAKER_01]: So the engine doesn't have a lot of displacement.
[SPEAKER_01]: On the way up, it was almost out of power.
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, we're still moving at sixty miles an hour on the way up, but you were right on the cusp.
[SPEAKER_01]: But we were on the cusp almost a hundred percent throttle.
[SPEAKER_01]: on this little guy.
[SPEAKER_01]: So he came with a bedliner.
[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you.
[SPEAKER_00]: GMC.
[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you, TSC.
[SPEAKER_00]: Look at those seat belts.
[SPEAKER_00]: Look how good those look with your shirt.
[SPEAKER_00]: We're looking at a picture of Andre and his cowboy hat.
[SPEAKER_00]: Backwards on my dad, Andre.
[SPEAKER_00]: That was a comment you got, right?
[SPEAKER_00]: That you're wearing a backwards.
[SPEAKER_01]: Um, no, no, I'm not.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I think you're going to go backwards.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, the white part should be the narrow parts forward.
[SPEAKER_01]: But they're both wide.
[SPEAKER_01]: I got it a wide wide double wide.
[SPEAKER_01]: And there's a way, say, forget.
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I went to this custom hat place for, um, for my cowboy hat and they had so many choices.
[SPEAKER_01]: There's like, fifteen different styles.
[SPEAKER_00]: Just get a, that's a, that's the same the West.
[SPEAKER_00]: So, so, look, it's a performing truck.
[SPEAKER_00]: Like I said, I'm super official.
[SPEAKER_00]: It didn't do the best towing.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's okay.
[SPEAKER_00]: But it's not really meant for towing.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's okay.
[SPEAKER_00]: But it's just so freaking good looking.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's a really good looking truck.
[SPEAKER_00]: I love those little marker lights, the orange marker lights on the side of the wheel wells.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's just a sexy as truck.
[SPEAKER_00]: And it's also got the sunroof which I'm not a big fan of, but in this truck I love.
[SPEAKER_00]: And I just think that, you know, sometimes the looks turn heads and make you overlook a lot of things that I probably normally wouldn't overlook.
[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm sure people are looking at this truck.
[SPEAKER_00]: You see the marker lights, the orange
[SPEAKER_00]: the color of the truck.
[SPEAKER_00]: You want white interior, probably not, in a truck.
[SPEAKER_00]: Is it going to get dirty?
[SPEAKER_00]: Hell yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: But that's what makes it cool.
[SPEAKER_00]: Sometimes the more high maintenance somebody or something is, the more kind of you fall in love with them.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's a weird thing that happens in human nature, but I'm kind of there.
[SPEAKER_01]: But I think they're just a smart thing where the white parts are kind of a little bit higher on the truck.
[SPEAKER_01]: So it's not like a seed bottom is white, you know, where your butt is always moving across.
[SPEAKER_01]: But like where your knee touches on the side of the toy.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so so I think that is a good job of the interior Everything else is great.
[SPEAKER_01]: We're getting nineteen and a half MPJ in this truck which is supposed to be seventeen Yeah, so it's doing better than the EPA suggesting so it's actually relatively efficient considering everything about it.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's got good backseat room.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's not horrible
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you would think that maybe it would be tight because there's some some tracks or tight and I could say if I compare it to the Ford, you get a lot more with the Ford.
[SPEAKER_01]: We get better downhill, throwing performance in the Ford, you have better acceleration in the Ford.
[SPEAKER_01]: I would say more acceleration equals more fun.
[SPEAKER_01]: I would pick a ranger after all.
[SPEAKER_00]: Plus we tuned it, which gives even more power.
[SPEAKER_00]: So factory tuned it, not after market tuned.
[SPEAKER_00]: Because Ford does a smart thing where you can factory tuned it.
[SPEAKER_00]: So anyways, if power is what you want, then definitely get the ranger after.
[SPEAKER_00]: But I just think this is a really nice truck, and it makes me happy every time I get behind the wheel.
[SPEAKER_00]: And sometimes that's more important than how much your toes are how quickly they accelerate.
[SPEAKER_01]: So now we have to pick our favorite unfortunately.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, because we have a lot of good trucks here.
[SPEAKER_01]: So go for it on this list.
[SPEAKER_01]: For me, it's between the F and F and F and F and F and F and F and so we're out of heavy duty.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yep.
[SPEAKER_01]: So for me, I keep bouncing between them because once again, I care about, you know, heavier towing.
[SPEAKER_00]: You can only have one truck, which one is it?
[SPEAKER_00]: You can't have both.
[SPEAKER_00]: You can only have one.
[SPEAKER_00]: You know what, I think I would go F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F
[SPEAKER_00]: And I would pick Pumpkin just because Maverick doesn't go off road.
[SPEAKER_00]: And as much as I would rather live with the Maverick as an everyday truck at some point, I'm going to want to go off road.
[SPEAKER_00]: And the GMC does have auto four wheel drive, which is nice.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: And the absolute trimmer does not.
[SPEAKER_01]: It is a bummer.
[SPEAKER_01]: But once again, you said, you know, we could only have one truck.
[SPEAKER_01]: I, you know, I have a six thousand pound boat.
[SPEAKER_01]: I load up a lot of camping gear in my truck in the summer.
[SPEAKER_01]: I want a full-size truck.
[SPEAKER_01]: I think that's why that's what I need.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, for the times you need it, you need it.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: Really need it.
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, there you have it, guys.
[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you for joining us for this episode of TFL talking trucks.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, thank you.
[SPEAKER_00]: Andre, thank you for having me on the show.
[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, so we'll return the normal scheduled program next time.
[SPEAKER_00]: Next week, where should they go if they want to see some of these videos?
[SPEAKER_00]: Only in one place.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oldtfl.com.
[SPEAKER_00]: Right there.
[SPEAKER_00]: We shall see you next time.
[SPEAKER_00]: Ciao.
[SPEAKER_00]: By the way, Dominic, stop using Chow.
[SPEAKER_00]: I've been using that for fifteen years.
[SPEAKER_00]: He started stealing my Chow.
[SPEAKER_00]: Chow?
[SPEAKER_00]: Out of spec.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I use batteries included.
[SPEAKER_00]: That's a podcast, right?
[SPEAKER_00]: Batteries included.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: No, Dom.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: And also, you know, I've been doing Chow since I started this in two thousand nine.
[SPEAKER_00]: And now he's doing Chow.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's kind of a European thing.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's like, yeah, it's a check thing.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: And he's Canadian.
[SPEAKER_00]: Do you see Chao?
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
[SPEAKER_00]: Hey.
[SPEAKER_00]: Hey.
[SPEAKER_00]: Hey.
[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
[SPEAKER_00]: We'll do that.
[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, uh, hey.
[SPEAKER_00]: Andre, you got a Mazda.
[SPEAKER_00]: Hey.
[SPEAKER_00]: You're has this backwards, eh?
[SPEAKER_00]: Hey.
[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
[SPEAKER_00]: Bye.
[SPEAKER_00]: Sorry.
[SPEAKER_00]: Chao.
[SPEAKER_00]: Wow.
