00:01:15
Speaker 2: Why'd you say.

00:01:15
Speaker 6: Easy, Well, because there's no action here in the bedroom besides the radio show.

00:01:20
Speaker 5: I came in to Shannon too his room this morning. He had it on sixty five degrees and it was the coldest thing.

00:01:26
Speaker 4: Gosh, they can hang me in there here.

00:01:29
Speaker 5: He's sleeping in here like a polar bear? Is that how you normally sleep?

00:01:33
Speaker 6: It's supposed to help your sleep. I hardly got any sleep last night, so maybe it helps your sleep. Sleep experts, what experts like my fiance who will tell you sleepxt she is, well, that's right, she sells mattresses. Yes, she works at mattress firm, and she'll tell you, she'll swear by it that you have to have a cold room to get a better sleep.

00:01:51
Speaker 2: And I think Drew agrees with me, right, Drew.

00:01:53
Speaker 7: I walked straight into the hotel room last night, started hit thermostad it stopped at sixty five. I would have gone even lower if it would have let me. So I was also sixty five the moment I rolled into my room. That's what you both do.

00:02:04
Speaker 2: That's you. That's your sleep. Yeah, only because sixty four one available? All right? I wanted as cold as parl over here.

00:02:11
Speaker 5: Yeah, I don't get that, but I don't. I tried to keep it warm because I'm a regular human being. But that's okay. We are here at the super Bowl. Got in late last night.

00:02:21
Speaker 2: It is.

00:02:22
Speaker 5: We haven't been to media row yet. We're gonna do that right after this show. But we got up this morning.

00:02:27
Speaker 2: It is.

00:02:27
Speaker 5: It is seven o'clock here, Billy got up at Billy had to do a show at six o'clock, so it's very early uh here, But that's okay. Sun's coming up and we're ready for our working day.

00:02:40
Speaker 2: Drew. Nice flight out here from Atlanta.

00:02:43
Speaker 5: Yeah, no real complications, got here, got our luggage, rental car, and now we're ready to attack the Bay area and have all super Bowl ready to go.

00:02:54
Speaker 2: Zero complaints about travel. Day.

00:02:56
Speaker 7: Had a good time traveling actually got here, had a little bit of a allowed up around town and a bite to eat, and then an early bedtime even though it didn't get much sleep. Was up before Walgreens even open this morning. It's it's not fun being up at five and there's nothing to do.

00:03:08
Speaker 5: I continue to say I have much respect for people who work jobs that get them up at this time of day.

00:03:15
Speaker 2: This time of day is for not people not.

00:03:20
Speaker 5: Human beings are not supposed to be up this early. And I know, like they used to farm, like at the crack of dawn.

00:03:26
Speaker 2: Some people still do. Yeah, we still have crops we do.

00:03:31
Speaker 5: To those people's salute, this is not my time of day when it is still dark and you have to stand up.

00:03:37
Speaker 2: I'm not a fan of that.

00:03:38
Speaker 5: And even on the West Coast where my body is kind of still East Coast time, I don't like.

00:03:44
Speaker 2: This is not this.

00:03:46
Speaker 5: If the best radio station in the world were to offer me six am to nine or six am to ten, I'm not doing I'm not getting up at this time of morning every day.

00:03:59
Speaker 6: It's for the bar, That's what I was gonna ask you. Like this feels like I write a passage in radio to do the morning.

00:04:04
Speaker 2: I won't know, but they I will not.

00:04:07
Speaker 4: You've done it before. You've done it once or twice, right you, I'll.

00:04:10
Speaker 5: Do it like once or twice, and it's miserable. I gotta do it every day, miserable to I know it good, I mean good for you, but you don't have to talk immediately. You come in and sit and produce. To have to go on the air at six am and be like like I would, just I would, I would lose my Nick Coffee starts at five as I couldn't do that.

00:04:32
Speaker 6: Yeah, and I don't think you ever get used to that. I mean that's just your first time. You can't have a normal life.

00:04:37
Speaker 5: Yeah, if you do that, like you gotta like Nick Coffee that told me yesterday he was like, I go to bed at eight eight eight, like my night is just starting today. I'm like, well, now there's what shows are.

00:04:51
Speaker 2: I should get dinner eight o'clock.

00:04:53
Speaker 5: Come on, and then you throw in the crows and just throws.

00:05:00
Speaker 2: Yeah, that's a big part of it. Well, I mean they're growing, yeah, beaks.

00:05:06
Speaker 7: I was up so earlier this morning. I went for a walk because I had to find water. There were people coming into the hotel from being out, and I was already up looking for something to do.

00:05:15
Speaker 5: Yeah, that's another thing you get you miss fun. I just I don't so no, to answer your question, I will never do it more.

00:05:21
Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean the game doesn't even start till nine o'clock Eastern tonight. Essentially Nick would be in bed before the game even starts.

00:05:27
Speaker 5: Yes, well, the game is tonight Kentucky and Oklahoma at nine. We will talk about that game. But we are in San Francisco, so early impressions. We are at a very nice hotel we're at it's called the Intercontinental Mark Hopkins Mark Hopkins, which I think is one of the nice The top of this place, Shannon is called Top of the Mark because it's Mark Hopkins and it is supposedly the best view in San Francisco. We're gonna go up there. Apparently that's the place. All the reporters are up there hook it up with each other.

00:05:58
Speaker 2: Oh okay, that's what I need to be.

00:06:01
Speaker 4: Here's your married man, Billy. You can't be going up there.

00:06:03
Speaker 2: Yeah, what wrong thing? Oh?

00:06:05
Speaker 6: Hook up as in hook Oh okay, I thought it was like my digital business card.

00:06:10
Speaker 2: You think that's what I meant by hook up? Yeah? That was like a hookup. Yeah, like at the bar.

00:06:15
Speaker 5: I meant have things happen. Your wife is not gonna like that. You were like, that's where I need to go.

00:06:23
Speaker 6: Well, she knows my mind was in the right place. But you can move forward.

00:06:27
Speaker 4: Then there one day, not even a full day. He's already try to be here.

00:06:31
Speaker 5: Twenty four hours and he's already talking about hooking up.

00:06:33
Speaker 2: At the rooftop.

00:06:35
Speaker 4: You can't take him anywhere.

00:06:37
Speaker 5: We're also a great start after a great start. But but that's where apparently all all the gossip goes down. You find out, you know, over the years at the final four, you find out who you know, Oh, what's going on is Frank Martin?

00:06:50
Speaker 2: You know dating Gary pears.

00:06:55
Speaker 5: Kre was weird when we were wondering that those are the kind of things that that that you find out, you are gonna that's what we're gonna find out here.

00:07:02
Speaker 2: It's the place to be. I've been up there.

00:07:04
Speaker 7: It is incredible place and this area, as you all experienced last night, these hills do not play around. I haven't ever caught my breath from last night.

00:07:11
Speaker 5: Let's talk about these hills. I haven't been here since I was a freshman in college. If you've not been to San Francisco, you see the hills and you're like, oh, that's cute, Shannon, the hills are cute. Do you know what I'm talking about? Those very hilly roads the top of the mark. All right, So we're at the top of one of the hills last night. We're like, let's go get some deep and it's late when we get here, so there's not a ton open. And the guy's like, yeah, there's a place down three blocks down the hill.

00:07:41
Speaker 2: Do you think down the hill? Right, it's a hill. Come on.

00:07:47
Speaker 5: When we were coming up at the end of the night, I needed medical treatment walking up those It was.

00:07:56
Speaker 2: That is the steepest hill. That's gotta be the steepest hill in a city in America.

00:08:02
Speaker 7: When we got to the top, like, we couldn't even talk to each other. All of us were just we.

00:08:07
Speaker 5: All we all had different strategies. Okay, Drew was walking backwards, Yeah, Mario was trying to tiptoe.

00:08:16
Speaker 2: I was weaving left and right. You're adding a lot of steps but not going as steep. He has more steps, But Larry told me that.

00:08:25
Speaker 5: Larry was like, if you walk like that, the incline is not as high, so it's more steps, but it doesn't hurt as bad. Billy was just dying, panting and crying for mother.

00:08:38
Speaker 3: Get through your caine, Oh, still burden.

00:08:42
Speaker 2: The last half block you crawled. I did a bear crawl a little bit at the end.

00:08:47
Speaker 6: I thought that was necessary though, because I have never seen anything like that.

00:08:50
Speaker 2: I mean, that is it.

00:08:51
Speaker 5: Is for people who who've just seen it on TV. It's for real like that, that's why they I'm sure that's why they have trolley cars, right, they have to. That has to be why they had trolley cars where those hills. I would think, I got that can be completely made up, but I would think that's why they did.

00:09:08
Speaker 7: You see like door dashers pushing their bikes next to you going up the hill, attempt to ride up at Yeah, what do door dashers do?

00:09:15
Speaker 5: We have breakfast coming. I may have to tip him more than three fifty? Can you ride him?

00:09:20
Speaker 2: Be? Like? Are you going up that hill? You're going up the hill. I'm going up to four to fifty.

00:09:24
Speaker 7: But if he's coming down from this way, not gonna pay him his back to two fifty.

00:09:29
Speaker 5: I need to know where he's coming from, because it's it is quite a thing. Early impressions of San Francisco.

00:09:36
Speaker 2: I like it so far.

00:09:36
Speaker 6: I was telling Shannon, you know, I haven't been to a lot of major cities, so this is kind of a big.

00:09:40
Speaker 2: One for me. You haven't been to what what do you mean, like New York? So where have Chicago? You haven't been in New York? Correct? Have him been to La Correct? Have him. Been to Chicago, correct, Houston, Atlanta, been to Atlanta, But like, did you just go now? Okay, so no, what's the biggest city? Dallas? Probably? Okay, so you've bend to doubts.

00:10:01
Speaker 5: Yeah, so this is probably the It's probably the second biggest city you've ever been.

00:10:05
Speaker 2: A lot happening.

00:10:06
Speaker 6: I mean there's something everywhere you look, whether it be somebody's sleeping on the street or.

00:10:11
Speaker 2: That's your first thing you saw, it's somebody sleeping on the street. Yeah, yeah, okay, saw them. Yeah, but there were we saw the Golden gate Bridge. Didn't bigger.

00:10:20
Speaker 6: I didn't really see the Golden gate Bridge, Like.

00:10:22
Speaker 2: I didn't make a bigger impression to you than there were.

00:10:24
Speaker 6: No, really how big the San Francisco airport is? I mean, looking for that rental car took maybe forty five minutes, Shinnon.

00:10:31
Speaker 2: I love.

00:10:32
Speaker 5: Part of the thing I love about these trips is how is playing the game? How little does Mario know?

00:10:37
Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, because Mario he's such a naive young child, and this is first California for both the first time he's been to California.

00:10:46
Speaker 5: So we drive past a building and Mario goes, is that the state capitol, and I was like, San Francisco is not the state capitol of California. And he goes, well, do they have it here? And I like Mario's thought process. The capital's in Sacramento. But Shannon, they put the building in San Francisco just to make it.

00:11:06
Speaker 3: Easier for him, because that would make a ton of sense. Why would they do that.

00:11:08
Speaker 5: That would make it a lot easier, wouldn't it, Like why put the building all the way up in Sacramento, Let's put it in San Francisco.

00:11:14
Speaker 7: We were telling him Sacramento is actually nearby if he wanted to check it out.

00:11:18
Speaker 5: We were Harvey Milk. You know who that is, Shannon, Harvey Milk, the member of the movie Milk.

00:11:24
Speaker 2: That Sean Penn was in. Yes, he was.

00:11:26
Speaker 5: He was a city council person and he was killed here and that they named the airport after you. So I was telling uh, Mario that story. And it's great to tell Mario history because it's like I'm telling him a ghost story because.

00:11:39
Speaker 2: He's not he's not heard of it.

00:11:41
Speaker 4: If it didn't happen before his lifetime, he was not interested in it.

00:11:44
Speaker 2: That's exactly right. And so I enjoyed that as well. Billy.

00:11:47
Speaker 5: It's it's like it's like a whole fun learning experience.

00:11:50
Speaker 2: Yeah, Mario and I are having a great time.

00:11:51
Speaker 6: I knew Mario was going to be fun on this trip when we sat down for our first meal in the airport and he ordered patron and and.

00:11:58
Speaker 2: I was like okay.

00:11:58
Speaker 6: And then we went to the second place to eat, and then he ordered it truly, and I was like, okay, this guy is Mario.

00:12:03
Speaker 2: Was very boogie ordered patron and Hummus to start.

00:12:06
Speaker 5: Them that great uh, that great duo Patron and Hummus right before we get the.

00:12:12
Speaker 3: Same guy about his uh carrots and celery right, yes.

00:12:18
Speaker 6: Which was not true, people, that was fake news. I did not ask the flight attendant if she had carrots and celery. Mario is doing me wrong online.

00:12:26
Speaker 7: I have to pay Billy a compliment. I was wondering what his suitcase situation would be. We all remember the Buffalo trip. This one's much harder to pack for you would not have been able to fit it in that little suitcase. He brought out a nice new bag on this one, so uh business Billy over here.

00:12:42
Speaker 5: I think it was mostly because the fans taunted you, But you upped your suitcase case.

00:12:46
Speaker 6: Yep, I've got six quarter zips ready to go for this week.

00:12:50
Speaker 5: Well, no, you don't have six quarter zip Shannon. We learned yesterday three quarter zips that are reversible. Man bought reversible court way.

00:13:00
Speaker 2: What do you know about that?

00:13:01
Speaker 4: I didn't even know that was a thing that existed. You can reverse it.

00:13:04
Speaker 6: I didn't know you could get you like the blue I got on right now?

00:13:07
Speaker 7: Wait is that one of them? How does the zipper work? It's a double zipper.

00:13:16
Speaker 4: Put your things down, flipping and reverse it.

00:13:18
Speaker 2: That's right?

00:13:20
Speaker 5: So you you So he has the very rare reversible quarter zip, not one, not two, but three three?

00:13:27
Speaker 2: Wow, to bring out over the over the trip. Wow, I'm prepared.

00:13:31
Speaker 6: I mean, we'll see how super Bowl radios goes today.

00:13:34
Speaker 3: When you sweat through one, you sweat through both. Though you understand it, right, that is true?

00:13:38
Speaker 2: I mean when what's dirty? They're both there. Yeah, it's not like it's not like.

00:13:41
Speaker 5: Actually I would argue that the one on the inside is even dirty.

00:13:47
Speaker 6: Didn't think about the pit stains that are much more visible after I flip out.

00:13:52
Speaker 5: Actually, flipping will make it worse in most cases.

00:13:55
Speaker 6: Okay, I didn't think about that.

00:13:59
Speaker 2: Play.

00:13:59
Speaker 5: Yeah, earniness is the same regardless of shirt.

00:14:03
Speaker 2: But we are here, We are here having fun already.

00:14:06
Speaker 5: My favorite thing to do is sit in the lobby and watch people get walk in and out and go. That's a sports radio host. The same look, Channon. They all have the same look. Little schlubby, little schlubby, lot of quarter zips, hands in the pocket, groups of four looking for a party, because there's a lot of this country that this is the one time they're away from their wives is right now, and it's actually fun to watch.

00:14:32
Speaker 4: It's the super Bowl, you know, and they're all going, where's the rooftop?

00:14:36
Speaker 2: Yes, so well, we know what Billy wants to do.

00:14:39
Speaker 5: On eighty five to nine Network Network Network eighty seven, the text machine is seven seven two seven seven four five two five four. We will preview UK Oklahoma. We will talk a little bit more about where we're headed later today on media Row. We are live inside of Billy's hotel room where all the action is.

00:14:59
Speaker 2: That's here our Kentucky Sports Radio. Wal go back into this Kentucky Sports Radio.

00:15:07
Speaker 5: If I'm nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven text machine is seven seven two seven seven four five two five four what person rights, Matt best way to tell everyone you're rich is by saying, you keep it at seventy one degrees. No one does that we have to keep it in the sixties due to electricity cost. Well, okay, sure in the winter, but in the summer, y'all, if you're keeping it in the sixties.

00:15:30
Speaker 2: It's gonna be crazy like.

00:15:33
Speaker 5: Expensive for the AC. So it might be expensive half the year, but the other half of the year you're the one paying.

00:15:40
Speaker 7: The big bills. I have expensive summer bills in the winter. I don't even turn my heat on. What do we need to eat for it? Just I'll open a window, let the snow in.

00:15:46
Speaker 2: Helps me sleep. You just layer up in the winter. And then it seems like, are y'all common? I thought it was kind of known.

00:15:52
Speaker 5: I thought it was average, that at seventy one degrees was the average. I thought that's what people did, seventy or seventy one. I would have thought I'm on the low end. I wouldn't expect out of four people in this room to be on my side.

00:16:03
Speaker 4: Mine stays on like sixty nine, sixty eight, sixty nine somewhere around there.

00:16:08
Speaker 5: Okay, yeah in the winter, maybe I'm yeah, maybe I'm the maybe I'm the crazy one.

00:16:14
Speaker 2: I just.

00:16:16
Speaker 5: But we have blankets for a reason. Like the goal is to stay warm, isn't it. You keep saying that everybody sleeps better, but like, isn't the point to stay warm?

00:16:23
Speaker 2: It all bundled up.

00:16:24
Speaker 6: Well, yeah, but you don't want to be thirty two degrees and trying to sleep, so you got to warm up a little bit.

00:16:29
Speaker 5: Yeah, but why if you if sixty five is the best for sleep, why do you wear a blanket?

00:16:35
Speaker 2: I don't know. It's the combination of the sixty five, like the goldilocks on.

00:16:39
Speaker 6: I mean, they're not too cold.

00:16:40
Speaker 3: Not tools you're supposed to have covered too, right, isn't that a.

00:16:45
Speaker 2: Thing supposed to have your feet uncovered when when you sleep.

00:16:47
Speaker 4: I think that's a thing.

00:16:48
Speaker 3: You're supposed to have your feet uncovered from the blankets.

00:16:51
Speaker 5: One thing I hate about hotels. I can't be the only one you know, they tuck in these sheets. It drives me crazy. I have to have the blankets under my feet, so I spend the first five minutes in bed just going crazy trying to pull the blankets out, which, of course makes the whole bed collapse, like the pad comes up. So if you look at my bed, it looks like a war zone.

00:17:12
Speaker 2: Every night, and you don't want to like remake that anyone. I don't know.

00:17:17
Speaker 5: Again, I don't. Maybe women do this, all right? Is there anyone in America who keeps their bed like this? Is there anyone in America that has their bed like a hotel where you have the blankets tucked under the mattress.

00:17:34
Speaker 6: Understand, Yeah, we don't do the comfort. We do the sheet That drives me crazy?

00:17:38
Speaker 2: Why is this all hotels do this? Why? I don't no one else in America puts their blanket under their mattress. It does look good, it's fine.

00:17:47
Speaker 5: But the point is to sleep. So I end up spending I literally I look like a I look at the deranged man trying to get the blanket.

00:17:55
Speaker 2: Out of the bottom of the bed. I don't know.

00:17:57
Speaker 7: I just try not to mess with it too much, because when you really start looking around the bed at a hotel, there's things that you don't want it. So I just whatever situation they left me, I'll just jump in and do my best.

00:18:07
Speaker 5: One person rates matt My alarm goes off at four am. Every day I work with horses, and every day I say I'm never gonna do this again, but then I get up and do it again.

00:18:16
Speaker 2: Yeah, we've had this conversation, Jane. I don't know why horses after race so early.

00:18:20
Speaker 4: Yeah, they could race in the afternoon just as easy.

00:18:22
Speaker 5: I'm going to revolutionize horse training one day when I say, hey, why don't we train the horses at the time they race.

00:18:30
Speaker 2: Let them sleep in a little bit.

00:18:32
Speaker 5: It's gonna revolutionize the sport. No, I'm serious, Like, why don't we recreate the circumstances that they're actually gonna race? It We we practice them at five point thirty in the morning, but then the races are in the afternoon or night. Maybe we should get the horses accustom to running at the time they're going to run.

00:18:53
Speaker 2: I'll hear you, But you know, think, did you hear? It's gonna revolution It's gonna be like moneyball before horses. You know.

00:19:00
Speaker 3: Ball players do the same thing, though they have early practices. You know, they practice it.

00:19:04
Speaker 2: Always thought that's wrong, remember, Mark Pope said.

00:19:07
Speaker 5: Mark Pope said that like when they play a game at a weird time the day before they practice at that weird time. That makes sense to me. It's gonna be called horseball and it's going to brad Cox. Feel free to steal.

00:19:19
Speaker 2: This until it's money stall.

00:19:21
Speaker 6: So horses for the lazy man, if you'd like to sleep in the mat method.

00:19:26
Speaker 2: No, it's about the smart man.

00:19:28
Speaker 5: Race the horse at their time they're going to race, because think about it, the derby's at six o'clock.

00:19:34
Speaker 2: The horses want to go to bed. They're not used to run. They're not used to run. I mean right, they're asleep normally at six o'clock. I don't know.

00:19:43
Speaker 6: I know this is what you're revolutionizing right here.

00:19:45
Speaker 7: I think it's pretty genius. Honestly, has anyone even thought about do the horses want to be up that early?

00:19:50
Speaker 5: Well, I mean I've had the thought the horses even want to be out here?

00:19:52
Speaker 2: Do they want to run? It's going to be left alone.

00:19:55
Speaker 4: You have to wake up the horses or are they already awake? Do they have an alarm clock?

00:20:00
Speaker 2: Well, we can train them to just hits news, we can.

00:20:04
Speaker 5: I just I've always thought this is weird. Like you know, Churchill Downs has night races. You know, they got to be tired, they gotta be confusion there, and they're being told to run. If you want them to race at night, you're gonna have to train them at night, it would seem to me.

00:20:18
Speaker 2: So how are you going to start putting your horse?

00:20:21
Speaker 5: I have to get some horses? Okay, right now, I don't have any. I've got parts of it that they don't listen to me.

00:20:27
Speaker 2: But you have the idea like they people should bring the horses to you. Well, I don't know how to train them. What the horse? Have the concept?

00:20:37
Speaker 4: What the horse that we own? What's the name of that horse?

00:20:40
Speaker 2: That the joking? There?

00:20:42
Speaker 4: You go, so we're joking. We can just tell them that we want.

00:20:44
Speaker 2: To Well, here's my thing.

00:20:44
Speaker 5: I should go to the trainer and go, Look, we came in last in the oaks.

00:20:48
Speaker 2: Try different. Let's shake it up.

00:20:51
Speaker 6: I've got a new method.

00:20:53
Speaker 5: We didn't do so well the last time. How about we let him sleep and he'll he'll be much more. Kentucky and Oklahoma. Today, Oklahoma comes in with an eight game losing streak.

00:21:05
Speaker 2: They are one and eight.

00:21:06
Speaker 5: Porter Moser is probably fighting for his job. They lose tonight, they're kind of done. He might even be fired. We win tonight, seven and three in the conference. I think we're probably one win maybe two for making the NCAA Tournament if we win tonight. You beat you beat Arkansas, that was a massive victory. But now you need to Drew followed up and take care of business tonight. And what is probably the easiest game left on the schedule on paper, Yeah, I mean you've won six out of seven. Like I said, it's probably the easy You cannot slip up here. All the good momentum, everything you built up to this point, your confidence you got going.

00:21:47
Speaker 2: This is the worst team in the conference. You got to handle your business at home tonight. Moser was on the hot seat last year.

00:21:53
Speaker 7: It was already close with him a year ago and they ended up keeping him and now looking like this will probably be the end for him when the season's over.

00:22:00
Speaker 6: Oway and Garrison, I mean they're Oklahoma killers.

00:22:02
Speaker 5: Ohway has had two games against Oklahoma that have both been epic phenomenon. Right, hopefully we don't need that tonight, but I mean it would be nice for him to have a third.

00:22:14
Speaker 2: Yeah, I can't. I don't I know the roster a little bit.

00:22:16
Speaker 7: I don't remember forgetting yeah, yeah, yeah, I don't remember how many of the characters from a year ago. Remember they almost fought in the in the handshake line, even his old roommate. Also, this is when Brandon Garrison and Mary Williams carried him like the length of the court away from the fight. So even though Oklahoma is not good in Kentucky's a double digit favorite, the emotions will still be high because of how last year went in those games.

00:22:38
Speaker 5: Crowds are only nine o'clock sec rup game. I think, so be late late crowd. I think they'll be into it. I think the Arkansas game ensures people being into it. Yeah, I think that's uh that insures. And by the way, we have a special guest we'll talk about on the KSR pregame today. At the bar, you can come meet a Kentucky kind of legend. Yeah, legend in my mind. For we'll take a break. Right back, it's kis.

00:23:04
Speaker 2: TJ.

00:23:05
Speaker 4: Smith, personal injury attorney called TJ.

00:23:07
Speaker 2: He'll make them pay.

00:23:09
Speaker 3: Now more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage's Matt Jones.

00:23:16
Speaker 5: Welcome back, it is Kentucky Sports Radio. Billy was complaining during the break. What are you complain about? Billy?

00:23:23
Speaker 2: Uh?

00:23:23
Speaker 6: Well, Drew told me somebody was saying, Billy isn't wearing his wedding ring.

00:23:27
Speaker 2: Well you're not.

00:23:28
Speaker 6: I'm not married yet, so I don't have a wedding ring.

00:23:31
Speaker 2: That's why you're going to the bar tonight. People are like, put some shoes on, Billy.

00:23:35
Speaker 6: They're also telling me that the reversible quarter zips are a crime and I should be punished.

00:23:40
Speaker 5: People like to give you a hard time about like what you're wearing, and like like people I feel like, I feel like sometimes the audience they pick on you.

00:23:48
Speaker 2: A little bit.

00:23:48
Speaker 6: That's fine, it would have it would have meant something when I first started. But now I'm just so jaded. I don't care about those complaints with mean.

00:23:55
Speaker 2: Why you you don't don't be they don't want to be like that. You have to love the audience.

00:24:00
Speaker 5: The audience can be frustrating sometimes, but they are ultimately our customers, so you have to love the audience.

00:24:06
Speaker 2: You can't be jaded towards the audience.

00:24:08
Speaker 6: But like consistent criticism from the same five accounts, like I'm able to get over that much more than I am. Like maybe when I first.

00:24:15
Speaker 2: Started, Well, why don't you mute those accounts? I mean, I don't know.

00:24:19
Speaker 6: I mean, I can.

00:24:21
Speaker 5: Well, I'm just saying you it just it seems it seems to get to you a little bit now now, Billy, I gave a project to.

00:24:28
Speaker 2: Billy Shannon that I want to I want to do the air.

00:24:31
Speaker 5: I told Billy he needed more of a presence on social media, right because like I have a big presence on Twitter and somewhat of a presence on Instagram. I'm gonna pick up TikTok still haven't really done it yet. Drew has has the basically the same Mario's big on TikTok, but Billy doesn't really have a big social media presence. So I was like, here's why I think you would be good, Billy. You need to come up with a whole like gimmick that becomes your TikTok gimmick brand. It's like a brand, That's what I said, chanting. You need to figure out what is Billy's brand? Right, Okay, So last night when we got well I ended, Billy announced to me that he has come up with his brand.

00:25:11
Speaker 4: Okay, I can't wait to hear it.

00:25:13
Speaker 5: And I'm very excited for people to Now. When I first heard it, I wasn't all in on it, but I'm not all out, So I will, Billy. I will let you pitch to the people. What the Billy Rutledge brand is going to be on social media?

00:25:30
Speaker 6: Yeah, so this is on social media like TikTok videos. You've heard of Billy R Sports.

00:25:34
Speaker 5: It's now down so that you're playing off of Billy R Sports.

00:25:38
Speaker 2: That's right.

00:25:39
Speaker 6: Okay, go ahead, so you've known Billy R Sports. Next is Billy, are you serious?

00:25:48
Speaker 2: What now?

00:25:49
Speaker 6: I mean a hot take, an outlandish comment?

00:25:53
Speaker 2: Billy? Are you serious? Dude? One more time? I'm just trying to pick you put down one more, one more.

00:26:01
Speaker 6: Billy, Billy, are you serious?

00:26:08
Speaker 2: What do we think? Shannon? Billy? Are you serious?

00:26:11
Speaker 3: I can't wait to see the verse video. Billy, I'm on your side with this one.

00:26:16
Speaker 4: Let's try it. Let's see what happens.

00:26:18
Speaker 2: How about Billy? Are you serious? You could do it anyway? Like put like Billy comma? Are you serious?

00:26:27
Speaker 6: I think it's a hit. I mean, I thought it was the best idea I've had in two months.

00:26:32
Speaker 2: We said a lot about those. You think.

00:26:38
Speaker 7: It's got, it's got some legs. I would first, this feels like a Shark Tank pitch. I will work on your pitch a little bit. I still don't know what what are you serious about? Like what is the actual content? It could be anything that's that's what the fun Okay.

00:26:49
Speaker 2: But you can't do that when you're pitching to people.

00:26:53
Speaker 5: Let me get can I let me give you a story where I'm making fun of myself okay, Okay. I got asked after the twenty twenty four election by Crooked Media. Okay, they're the ones that do podsave America, all right, they do. They're like the big liberal podcasting company. They approached me and they were like, we're looking for the liberal Joe Rogan okay, and they said, we think you could could do that, right and so, but people don't know this story. So they they brought me up there to kind.

00:27:28
Speaker 2: Of pitch to them. Okay.

00:27:30
Speaker 5: Now I really wasn't necessarily interested in doing that, but it was like, you know, life is short to have the conversation.

00:27:36
Speaker 2: So hear, I'm out. Okay.

00:27:37
Speaker 5: So I go in and I was like it's me and they're like, well, what's the show? And I was like, it's me, that's the show. Like it's me, Like it's just what I do on KSR.

00:27:58
Speaker 2: It's just me.

00:27:58
Speaker 5: I talk about what I think, what what my views are, and they're like, well, what are your views? And I was like, well, it depends on the issue.

00:28:06
Speaker 2: It's me.

00:28:08
Speaker 5: And they were like, well, but we need a little more, and I was like, it's me talking about things.

00:28:15
Speaker 2: Did you have a poster board?

00:28:17
Speaker 5: I did, I didn't do anything. And when I left, I was like, these people don't know me except one guy. Maybe I should have had beyond you.

00:28:29
Speaker 3: Went all the way it's me and you didn't have anything else better than that.

00:28:35
Speaker 5: Well, to be fair, the guy made it seem like I had the job if I wanted it.

00:28:39
Speaker 2: It was more like, do I want to do it? You better off? It was just that guy exactly.

00:28:44
Speaker 5: Then I got there, and I don't think the other people were on the same page as him. I think they were like, well, tell us about you, and I'm like, I came, so.

00:28:56
Speaker 2: Are you saying my segments too broad? Like?

00:28:58
Speaker 5: Do I need you need explain to people what you're I'm just trying to visualize it.

00:29:02
Speaker 2: We don't know where you're going you're looking at.

00:29:05
Speaker 5: Field of sixty eight came out today with the top jobs in the they're doing this for every conference. What's the best job in the sport?

00:29:14
Speaker 2: Right?

00:29:14
Speaker 5: And today the SEC came out. Sixteen people voted, they voted Kentucky. All sixteen said it was the best job in the SEC.

00:29:23
Speaker 2: Any surprise, there, No, not at all. In the SEC.

00:29:27
Speaker 7: A lot of schools are going to prioritize football. You know, we're gonna take care of our basketball and Lexton I don't have to explain it all when all the fans travel. I know there's more pressure at UK, which could be a strike against the job, but otherwise I completely agree there'd be number one.

00:29:41
Speaker 2: Yeah.

00:29:42
Speaker 5: I thought there might be somebody that just give the contrary and view that there's too much pressure depends and run you off. If it's not gone with all sixteen, there's I haven't seen another major conference where all sixteen said the same one. There've been some smaller ones that have. They've been doing this all year. Now here was the rest of their rankings. I was just I want you all to think, who would be that what would be the second best job in your mind in the SEC basketball? Because this was this ended up in tears. There were four schools that I think were because Kentucky was tier one. There were four schools kind of tier two, and then another four schools that were kind of tier three, and then there was after that. It became muddled. But what what what.

00:30:24
Speaker 2: Do you think would be the second best job? In your ow's mind?

00:30:28
Speaker 7: It honestly, I don't think it would be the answer. But moving forward, with the money and everything they have, Texas should be in the conversation, but they don't really have history and tradition.

00:30:37
Speaker 2: And mine was Florida. All right, what was your ship Florida?

00:30:41
Speaker 4: I agree with with Billy.

00:30:44
Speaker 5: Texas was the second best job. Should they have Texas as the second best job? Little bit surprising to me that that would be the second best job. Arkansas third, Tennessee fourth, Florida fifth. Now, to be fair, that the gap between Texas in Florida is actually very small, so two through five are clumped. I think we'd probably all agree that those are the next four best jobs. I'm surprised though Texas is at the top. I understand it because they've got all the money. I probably would have said Arkansas, to be honest, I think that just because of how much their fans care, I would have probably said Arkansas maybe then Florida, then Texas, then Tennessee.

00:31:24
Speaker 2: But I was a little surprise Texas was second.

00:31:26
Speaker 7: I was just thinking about the budget and the end state recruiting. Honestly, they should be better than they already are. I mean, they've had a few good years, but they have everything right there that they need. That's why I put them at two. And though there's not much history and tradition like a Florida.

00:31:38
Speaker 5: Then the next four are clumped up. Who do you think is in that group? After Texas, Arkansas, Tennessee, Florida.

00:31:48
Speaker 2: Fandy not in that group.

00:31:50
Speaker 6: Fandy not in that group.

00:31:53
Speaker 2: Two schools that have had a lot of success recently is Alabama? Alabama's in the next girls.

00:31:58
Speaker 7: Worry about always being second fiddled to A was in the next group. Auburn's in the next group. I was surprised at the other two in the group. A and M is in the group, probably also because of money money. And then the last one they have Missouri. And then now who do you think they think?

00:32:19
Speaker 5: And by the way, all the voters except six put this as the worst job in the se Georgia. Georgia is not the worst job. Mississippi State is fifteenth.

00:32:30
Speaker 2: Still not the worst job. So it's old mister South Carolina Ole.

00:32:34
Speaker 5: Miss South Carolina is the worst job by far.

00:32:40
Speaker 2: They say South Carolin's the worst job.

00:32:42
Speaker 5: They say you are behind football, women's basketball, and baseball, so you're basically fourth at South Carolina if you're.

00:32:50
Speaker 2: On the men's basketball side.

00:32:52
Speaker 7: Yeah, I was almost looking at women's basketball as like helping you out as an asset, but I could see falling behind them with the fan interest, I could agree with that. I just think back, we've been to that arena many times and that fan base. They're one of the better ones in the conference when when Kentucky comes to town. But I guess the rest of the time they don't have a lot going on.

00:33:10
Speaker 5: Yeah, reviews are mixed for Billy Are you serious? But I think a lot of people think they got to see the content.

00:33:17
Speaker 2: It's very dependent on that what I'm serious about. Can we get our first one today at Radio Row? Maybe?

00:33:24
Speaker 5: Yes, I think you go up to I think you do it at Radio Row. That would be a good way to to debut it. But don't be like me and go toda.

00:33:34
Speaker 7: Also explain to them that you're Billy are before you drop the billy are you also?

00:33:38
Speaker 5: One of the things they said is give me an example of who you would want to interview, And I was like anybody, Like that's.

00:33:46
Speaker 2: The great thing.

00:33:48
Speaker 5: It could be anyone blank canvas here And they were like, yeah, okay, anybody.

00:33:55
Speaker 2: So you didn't take much of a plan of action in with you.

00:33:57
Speaker 5: I thought they were. I thought I was going up there to get them to sell me this job.

00:34:01
Speaker 2: It really wasn't fun.

00:34:02
Speaker 5: It turns out it might have been the opposite way, so it ended up not happening. BB and don't let aches and pains follow in you in the new year. Speaker 2: It's Kizar, Welcome back. Take you sports radio.

00:34:39
Speaker 5: If I'm nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven text machine is seven seven two seven seven four five two five four one person rights Matt in San Francisco, they have way mos where you can get in with no driver. You all should take one and film it. That's a good idea, I'm in.

00:34:54
Speaker 2: They advertise them everywhere, there's billboards. I've remember done that.

00:34:58
Speaker 5: I'm kind of against it, but I do think for content purposes that would be that would be kind of good to take away MO.

00:35:04
Speaker 2: You could sit in the front seat until it where to turn video.

00:35:08
Speaker 3: You give up that control chair to the robot. You can't do a human, can you do it to a robot?

00:35:13
Speaker 2: Yeah? Now I'm against it.

00:35:16
Speaker 5: I'm against everything, Like all this give and everything to robots. We're gonna regret it one day. You remember Uncle Matt's words in fifty years did you see this story about the about the AI. You know, there's supposed to be an AI bust, right, Like everything AI is like not gonna be as great as everybody said, at least in.

00:35:35
Speaker 2: The short term.

00:35:36
Speaker 5: But they're saying there's already already a lot of early proponents regretting because they are starting to see some of the things negative that could happen.

00:35:46
Speaker 2: What a shock. Nobody watch a movie the last forty years.

00:35:50
Speaker 7: I can't remember which of the big corporations, but one of them recently was like, yeah, it started doing things we didn't know what would do, and.

00:35:56
Speaker 2: We didn't really get told that. Yeah, yeah, that we all been I'll say that we said that.

00:36:02
Speaker 5: The one good thing is I do think we can control the AI Shannon by just unplugging it.

00:36:06
Speaker 4: Yeah, you know, control all delete so it works for my computer.

00:36:09
Speaker 5: Yeah, pull the like it came without the power, but do the need WiFi. I'm I'm becoming the older I get. I'm becoming more I never thought I would do this, but I'm becoming more libertarian because I'm starting to like see, there was an old, an old adage that when people are in.

00:36:27
Speaker 2: Charge, the absolute power corrupts. Absolutely.

00:36:31
Speaker 5: People just have a natural reaction to everything they believe in. It just goes away just so they can be er.

00:36:37
Speaker 2: And I'm very and I'm worried enough.

00:36:39
Speaker 5: When it's humans, but when it's computers with no soul, no like religion, except like then, I'm just telling you you just this will be your kids.

00:36:52
Speaker 2: Billy, I get what you're saying.

00:36:54
Speaker 6: But there's also a lot of bad drivers on the road that I don't mind replacing it.

00:36:58
Speaker 4: But what do you do with this car when it's cars going out of control?

00:37:01
Speaker 2: Like? What do you?

00:37:01
Speaker 4: Can you jump over there?

00:37:02
Speaker 2: Here?

00:37:02
Speaker 5: Break do when someone hacks it? That's what I'm saying, Like I understand, like it doesn't bother. You'll see a video of a car going around in circles in a parking lot, So what that's funny, that's annoying. What are we gonna do one day when we all have all these automatic cars and and China hacks into our system and wrecks us all into each other.

00:37:21
Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean sure that could happen. They can hack into our airlines and screw up all the flights too. I mean they can hack and get back.

00:37:27
Speaker 5: Now, we have manual we have manual overrides, but if you have a way mo with no driver, there's no manual overrides. So if they do that in a plane, the pilots still know how to physically do the plane if they need to.

00:37:38
Speaker 6: I think you'll see transportation completely AI eventually know.

00:37:42
Speaker 2: And that's dangerous.

00:37:44
Speaker 6: And Bill, most dangerous thing you do is drive a car every day.

00:37:49
Speaker 5: I understand, but at least you're encountering other humans. These computers don't have souls.

00:37:58
Speaker 6: Yes, but theoretically they'd all work better together. Why theoretically, Well, if there's no issues.

00:38:04
Speaker 2: If there's no but there's gonna be an issue. There's always an issue.

00:38:08
Speaker 5: History says, there's always an You create laws and you create standards for the issues you don't And the problem is when you have AI, there's no manual override. And nobody in Washington is trying to create laws to regulate this stuff because they're all just taking money from the people making it and giving them. I mean, they're trying to pass a bill to make it to where there are.

00:38:31
Speaker 2: No laws about AI. Like that's insanity to me. But like we're getting so anyway. I'm not gonna I don't want to. We're at the super Bowl. I don't want to go off on all this stuff. But so you don't want a humanoid for Christmas?

00:38:43
Speaker 5: I do want to get in a way MO today, but I'm overall I'm against it. Savannah Guthrie, by the way, all right, her mother that got kidnapped. The story keeps getting crazy. TMZ got a note that asks for a specific amount of bitcoin to return her. Oh god, and and they think it is a credible note she also apparently went to UK. Savannah Guthrie's mother was a writer for the Kentucky Colonel saw that.

00:39:10
Speaker 2: I had no idea did you know it at all?

00:39:12
Speaker 7: You know, following this and now seriously is I didn't expect to pop up a UK connection.

00:39:17
Speaker 2: So, I mean it's a really sad story.

00:39:20
Speaker 5: I mean, can you imagine what can you imagine if you were Savannah Guthrie or anyone in that family, Like, what.

00:39:26
Speaker 2: Are you doing right now? It's gotta be awful.

00:39:28
Speaker 7: This is a scenario. You probably didn't think it ever happened. You're no, it's you eighty something, you're four, and to just not that the Olympics matters. But she was about to go to the Olympics, and now you know, her mind's all on that, and then your mother just gets kidnapped and there's a bitcoin ransom. I don't even know how your brain could could function when your life gets turned around.

00:39:47
Speaker 6: Like that, especially when you're a public figure, right, I mean, you probably feel a little guilty. Maybe you said something that led to somebody making this crazy decision.

00:39:55
Speaker 2: So it's yeah, It's just awful.

00:39:57
Speaker 5: I can't imagine having to go through that and then do it in public.

00:40:03
Speaker 2: Just terrible.

00:40:04
Speaker 5: And then the Kentucky connection is wild. I mean, I had she wrote for the Kentucky Colonel. Y had no idea about that. You know, this is obviously much bigger issue than her working at the Colonel. But that was a twist I didn't see. Company, didn't realize that there's any kind of connection there.

00:40:19
Speaker 2: All right, who's up next here? Mark Anthony, Mark Anthony, go ahead.

00:40:24
Speaker 8: Hey, good morning, Matthew, Drew Billy and Mario. Hey, Matthew. While you're in the San Francisco Mario seems a bit disappointed he's not going to see the state capitol. But you take him around and show in San Francisco's city Hall and.

00:40:39
Speaker 5: Get well, that's what we were driving past, That's what we That's what he thought was the state Capitol with San Francisco's city Hall. And I will say that might be the nicest city hall I've.

00:40:48
Speaker 2: Ever seen in America.

00:40:50
Speaker 5: Maybe there's a nicer one somewhere, someone can tell me, but that has to be the nicest city hall that I've ever seen.

00:40:57
Speaker 8: Was the sun at when you went back, No.

00:40:59
Speaker 2: But they had it lit up. It was lit up, which made it even more.

00:41:04
Speaker 8: That roof of gold. It just glows and it sets on springs. That was amazing to me too. They dug under it and put it on springs for earthquakes. Anyway, I thought that would satisfying. Forget the stay Captain leg got nothing on the city hall anyhow. And I have an unpopular opinion. Quickly, okay, we remember, we remember Doug Shalls gun show, Doug of what eight ten years ago when he was fairly fresh at the job, and then in in the interim, I thought that Doug had mellowed, had had grown up, had you know, studied his craft, and had got to be a better referee. And I did too.

00:41:45
Speaker 5: I want to go, Mark, because we gotta go, We gotta go to break. But I agree with you Mark on that I actually think Doug has.

00:41:51
Speaker 2: Been a better referee. I just don't know.

00:41:53
Speaker 5: I think Saturday his worst instincts got the best of you. In general, I think Doug has been a pretty good referee in recent years. But like a lot of these guys, they have an ego that sometimes comes out and it's about them, and that I think came out Saturday.

00:42:07
Speaker 7: My only Doug comments or complaints recently with him going to the monitor a lot. That was a new Doug we saw, but again it's part of that.

00:42:14
Speaker 5: There's just there's just a look at me part of college basketball referees that drives me a little crazy.

00:42:20
Speaker 2: So I need AI refs. I mean, don't even get me started with your serious it is
