Welcome everyone. It is Kentucky Sports Radio, Monday, April the fourteenth, and I'm Matt Jones and this is gonna be one of the biggest days for UK basketball recruiting well in a long time. Clarks Puppinshop Fall nine eighty five to nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven Adies and Auto Glass Text Machine seven seven two seven, seven four five two five for in this dish sponsored by the TJ. Smith Lowas called Tji'll Make Them Pay. I was sitting here thinking, Ryan, so I've been doing this twenty years. I was thinking about it. What were the big recruiting days. Okay, all right, the days where the Kentucky universe was in recruit watch mode. And then I went even further to say, what were the days that it was the refresh every hour ten minute mode? All right, so let's go through them in the KSR era. Okay, Patterson and Lucas a day leaked that they were both gonna choose. Patterson ended up postponing it. Lucas went early. Lucas went that day but that day and he would pick Florida. But that day the site crashed six hundred times on KSR. Okay, so that's day one for me. 00:01:51 Speaker 2: Yeah, that was so early in the internet world. We all knew and our. 00:01:54 Speaker 4: Server couldn't host it, like we couldn't hold two. We had started in five and an O seven. We didn't have the technological capability. 00:02:03 Speaker 2: Everybody was going to it. 00:02:04 Speaker 4: Then. I think the day the door day with Cal, Yeah, as we watched the door to see if he was gonna leave from Memphis. I think that may be the most legendary day in UK internet history, don't you think where everyone watched a random door in Memphis to see if Cal would walk out of it. 00:02:25 Speaker 2: I just heard you talk about it now makes me kind of embarrassed how we were acting at. 00:02:28 Speaker 4: That because, yeah, a local TV crew And by the way, Shannon, nice to have you back, Shannon. Do you remember that a local TV crew just set a camera outside of a door and we. 00:02:39 Speaker 2: All watched it. 00:02:40 Speaker 4: What then he flew here and there were cameras at the airport and so that was that's the wild day. Also before that the Billy Clyde getting fired dat no Alan Cutler chasing him around, So that's actually day two. Day three would be then I think day four is a few days after the cow Day when it started become okay, well wal come, well, cousins, come, will Xavier Henry come my name from the past? 00:03:09 Speaker 5: Right? 00:03:10 Speaker 4: So then I would think the next one was probably Neurlin's. Noel and Shabaz Muhammad decided on the same day. 00:03:19 Speaker 2: Yep, they sure did. On the on the set of Like Sports Center. 00:03:22 Speaker 4: That number one and two both decided on the same day. Kentucky was a finalist for both, right and Neirlin shaved the UK logo in the back of his head. 00:03:32 Speaker 2: It spun around so you can see the UK logo on the back of his hair. 00:03:35 Speaker 4: So then I think the next one is the day whether the Twins decided to come back. 00:03:39 Speaker 2: No doubt, that's definitely got it. That's pretty high. 00:03:42 Speaker 4: I think that one might be second to col huh as the day all will the Twins come back? Because can they waited till the last day? 00:03:49 Speaker 5: Yep. 00:03:50 Speaker 4: Remember we got the guy Shannon at iHeart to make his with the National Voice guy to make the read first they split a zygo now there splitting defenders, the Twins are back. 00:04:03 Speaker 2: You a Turkey Hunter ahead ache Turkey Hunter. 00:04:05 Speaker 4: And I spent the afternoon writing them and then this guy just read whatever he said. He said him, he voiced it. That was. That was a great one. And then but then I was trying to think about after that, Hamadu Diallo deciding whether to return went into the night. Yeah, and it didn't come out until like twelve thirty at. 00:04:25 Speaker 2: Night because he really did, like after the midnight deadline he did. 00:04:29 Speaker 4: You didn't find out about it until after the deadline, huh. But I don't know if there's been one since then like that. That was like a six or seven year period where just because of the way the Internet was, it just was like it overwhelmed in a positive manner. But I don't think since COVID. I guess the closest thing we've had was the day Caliperi was walking around with a dog in a stroller. 00:05:01 Speaker 2: It is, it's COVID. It's probably the biggest. 00:05:03 Speaker 4: Is that the biggest fan Internet days since COVID? Is cow walking around in with a dog in a stroller? I think it is, isn't it? 00:05:12 Speaker 6: Yeah? 00:05:13 Speaker 4: Yeah, is he gonna leave? Is he gonna leave? 00:05:15 Speaker 7: Is he not? 00:05:16 Speaker 4: And the Mitch Barnhart and Mark Hill or whatever they like take the s u vs into his house and then he comes out in a stroller and waves at the camera. What a bizarre moment. I still remember getting the text while I was eating at Skyline that basically said he'd like to come back, but he's not. It's not happening. And uh, I think that's the only one post COVID. 00:05:41 Speaker 2: Right, Well, I can think of right now where we were so tied glued to the internet and refresh, refresh, refresh. 00:05:46 Speaker 4: Well, I think today is one of those days. Yeah, I mean, from what I understand, Uh, Stokes arrived late last night, Rob Wright alive, arrived this morning, and now Right and Stokes are on campus and for people who'd weren't on the internet this weekend, Tyron Stokes, number one player in America, announces he's visiting. I think that happened Saturday morning, and that feels like a long time ago because it was Saturday morning. Yes, I think it was Saturday morning. So the number one player in America is going to be on campus today. Then we find out that Rob Wright, who's probably who's a top five portal guy, probably the number two point guard in the portal, he's coming today as well. So I think it's fair to say that if the people we know Kentucky is associated with that are available to play college basketball next year, these are the two best players Kentucky is talking to. 00:06:39 Speaker 2: It's amazing you get these top two guys, two eligible players, and they're on the campus at the same time, at the same time, on the same visit. 00:06:47 Speaker 4: So both guys here at the same time that I mean that sends a clear signal that Kentucky's could be a power player. So it is I mean, this is the day, yep, this is the day that the Lord hath made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it can. 00:07:05 Speaker 2: Take him to Keenan Keevian closed on Monday, right, I. 00:07:07 Speaker 4: Don't we stopped taking m keenlyanh It hasn't worked. The Keenland thing has been a cursed pressed. We need Keenland to be closed on Monday. No offense to Keenland. 00:07:16 Speaker 2: Maybe that's why they wrought him in. 00:07:17 Speaker 4: I don't know what it is. I think they that had been pretty successful, but in the Pope era. Maybe they look at the made the horses look at him the wrong way. I don't The Keenland thing hasn't seemed to work. So these guys are here, and I mean for people who don't find I mean, this is the number one high school player in America. This is the best high school player that would have come to this school since Carl Towns. Yeah, yeah, I think this is the best high school player that would have come to Kentucky. I mean, Fox and Monk were very highly rated, but not as highly rated as this kid. And scal Is rated high, but even then people didn't think he was as good as they think. This kid is. Right, this would be the best high school player to come here since Carl Towns. And if you go through the cal era, the only players that were probably consensus considered to be best pros would have been Wall Cousins, Nerlin's Carl or yeah, I'm sorry, Anthony Davis, Wall Cousins, Anthony Davis, Nerlin's Carl, and Stokes would probably be somewhere around Carl in what people think of him as a high school player. So just think about what I just said. That's a pretty big guy to get here. Then, in terms of college transfer portal guys, I ain't get safe to say this is the top player out of the portal that has ever been recruited to Kentucky. Oscar sheeb Way was highly recruited, but I don't think he was ranked this This kid is and Pope hasn't gotten a guy ranked us. Jackson Robinson is probably his best commitment out of the portal, but he wouldn't be ranked as high as rob Wright. So this is the biggest day of the Pope recruiting era, And you could make an argument Ryan, it's the biggest day of the Pope era going forward. 00:09:22 Speaker 2: I think it is the fact that you can get Tyron Stokes to come to an on campus visit this late in his recruitment, after people will kind of saying he's leaning back towards Kansas again to get him to come on campus and make a visit, and to get Rob Wright to make his first visit is to Kentucky. I think both of those are huge statements as far as what Pope's trying to do. 00:09:40 Speaker 4: Now, now we saw the best Shannon of Kentucky fandom yesterday. Oh yeah. Because the news starts to spread Rob Wright's coming, Stokes is coming, and our fan base goes they lose their lose their mind in the best way. Yes, right, this is this is why I'm not listening. Do you haters on the internet, including some of our own fan base, who seem to get off on just telling us that our fans stink. This is why you stink, because days like yesterday are why Kentucky fans are great. 00:10:13 Speaker 7: Yeah. 00:10:13 Speaker 4: I know other people make banners, but how many people make banners within minutes of the kids announcing they're coming, right, yeah, and put it on their house And Adam is, the day goes along. 00:10:25 Speaker 2: That's what was funny. 00:10:27 Speaker 4: Adam is, the day goes along and then coaches drive by and FaceTime players and say come visit and we'll add you to the house. 00:10:37 Speaker 2: Yeah right, that house now, is gonna be going to have the billboard for it. 00:10:41 Speaker 4: I believe it's a frat house. I don't know if it's Sigma. I don't know. We're gonna have that kid on in a little while. But they're calling themselves. I think I think I gave them the name banner, But whatever they gave them, I think whoever gave it to them, they're uh, they're going with it all right. 00:11:00 Speaker 3: I don't feel like we've had this much excitement. 00:11:02 Speaker 4: I agree, which is fan base needed, right, like they needed this. This fan base needed that excitement, and now these kids are here. People are putting it on their random houses. Did you see that guy's house at the Harbor. Eto'd put a banner up there too, So it's catching catching over time. I saw the Walmart in Nicholasville, now. 00:11:21 Speaker 3: Has you're gonna hang the one outside of your new house. 00:11:24 Speaker 4: I don't know how to make them, but if I did, if I did, I would I like the idea of other banners. People said we should do it at KOs Bar we're closed today. 00:11:34 Speaker 2: Or we would Yeah, we can do maybe this week. 00:11:37 Speaker 4: Yes, I'll make Mario stand on the street with a side, right. But it is exciting and now. 00:11:47 Speaker 2: Like you said, our fan base needed this. 00:11:48 Speaker 4: They did, and there's a lot of pressure. Oh yeah, yeah, because for mart Pope, you know, he has I think intentionally kind of not kept the fans in the loop as to what's going on by not talking to the media privately or you know what I mean. So the media doesn't really know UK's plans. 00:12:11 Speaker 2: Is that good? 00:12:13 Speaker 4: It might be if well, I don't think it is long term, but this year it might be fine if they get all these guys. Like in the end, it doesn't matter if they get all the guys, right, but expectations are now all in on these two guys. And I think this fan base this is a this is a feast or famine moment. If he gets two of these guys, this fan base is gonna lose their mind. And it honestly doesn't matter who he gets in the rest of the class, people are gonna be excited. All off, Yes, would you agree. 00:12:41 Speaker 2: Get those two guys. 00:12:42 Speaker 4: I think people will be very excited. If he gets one of them, there'll be some excitement and then it'll depend on what else does. 00:12:49 Speaker 2: Right, But if he gets neither, if it's considered a. 00:12:55 Speaker 3: With oh yeah, oh, the negativity that we have. 00:12:57 Speaker 4: This is the thing when you bang everything on a day and you get everybody excited and you have banners and you have coaches pulling over in the street like it's got like like this is you know, now you have to deliver. Yes, if you deliver, you have been washed in the blood of the BB in lamb like, no one's gonna worry about it, right, But if you don't, then you know there's gonna be people very frustrated. But I'm gonna be positive and assume there's a lot of good signs. Right, Stokes is coming here. Exactly here signs Stokes is coming here. He paid his own way to come from Portland, Oregon in the process because he already taken an official visit, so we couldn't give him another one, so he had to come. Yeah, Rob Wright is coming. We flew to him see him Saturday and he agreed to come Monday morning. 00:13:52 Speaker 2: And I think this his first visit anywhere. 00:13:54 Speaker 4: So this is you know, huge, huge day. So this is a refreshed day. If we had not, if we would pay for the text alerts, you know that costs money now to do. I remember we used to send text alert and now all of a sudden, it cost a bajillion dollars. I almost wish I could put them into effect for one day. Imagine if you've got a text message that said, because remember the old text messages, they had Ryan yelling and it would scare people. 00:14:19 Speaker 2: It was a bam bam firepower? 00:14:20 Speaker 4: Was bam bam firepower? 00:14:24 Speaker 2: What were we thinking? 00:14:26 Speaker 7: I don't know. 00:14:26 Speaker 4: I'd love to do it again, I just don't know how to do it for an economically responsible amount of money. But it's a big day and it'll be exciting and we'll I don't think anything will happen. I don't know that they'll commit tonight. But here's what I know UK wants to when they leave. UK wants to know in their mind whether or not they think they're getting them, because the rest of their class depends on what these two guys do. They have a budget. These guys are going to get a lot of the budget. So if they don't get them, they have a lot more money to get other people. But if they do, they have less. They have a whole set of visits potentially scheduled for the rest of the week, but it's all contingent on these guys. So I don't know if we'll get a commitment tonight from either one of them, but I think UK doesn't want them leaving without UK feeling like they're going to know what these kids are doing. 00:15:21 Speaker 2: Right, It's like you know a car shalesmhen you get the person on the lot, you don't want to leave the lot without buying a car. 00:15:26 Speaker 4: I don't know that they'll I don't know if they'll buy the car, but they need to know. I think in UK's mind, are you buying this car even if we wait and let you do it on your own time, so we'll see. 00:15:39 Speaker 2: Do you like the fact that they got both on the campus at the same time, right? They must think that's. 00:15:43 Speaker 4: A good idea, And they know the kids better than I do, so I can't say, like, on the one hand, you would go, well, these kids even know each other, but you know what Mark popin. They're not stupid. They know how big a deal this is. They know what They clearly wanted to do it on purpose. So I'm going to assume they know what they're doing. So A five nine, two eight oh twenty two eighty seven, we're going to take a break. We'll take your calls text machine is seven seven two seven seven four five two five four uh is ksr bam bam fire power. You know the text machine is full. 00:16:17 Speaker 2: Of like sightings already this morning. 00:16:21 Speaker 4: Oh yeah, I've been getting sightings all morning already. Now I don't know what to believe, Shannon, So every you take everything with a grain of salt. I need pictures if you got a sighting, I agree with you. Pictures would help, and I need them to be blurry, because recruiting pictures are always blur right. The cleaner the picture, the more I think. Now it's ai right, But a good fuzzy picture at Carson's, I believe, though, A picture of Bigfoot. Yeah, that's exactly right. Every recruiting picture needs to be fuzzy. One person writes, Matt, I think you might be wrong about them having about Stokes having flown last night. My parents say they were on a flight with him this morning and he. 00:16:58 Speaker 2: Was very nice, nice, good to hear. 00:17:02 Speaker 4: But that doesn't mean that that's true. Yeah, could have been anybody, Okay, yeah, I mean it was it was actually Eli Cappelluto, and somehow they confused the two of them. 00:17:13 Speaker 3: Well, I mean, do you know what he looks like. 00:17:14 Speaker 4: Stokes, Yeah, not one hundred like you've seen him. Would I recognize him on a plane? I think I would know it wasn't Eli Caputo. But there was a guy on a plane to Lexington this morning and me knowing Stokes was coming, I think I would know it's him. Yeah, But if I saw him at that Zach Bryant concert, would I know it's him? No? I mean the Louisville recruits that committed yesterday, Badunga and whatever the other guy's name. They were in a bar that Max and Miles and I went to Saturday, and I didn't know what they looked like, but I was like, that dude's six ten, Shannon. He's got to be somebody, I mean's got it. You don't see a lot of more Marstown Road, so I assume that's probably who. 00:18:04 Speaker 2: It would be nice you can take and get these two guys in one day, because Litill just got their two guys in one day. 00:18:09 Speaker 4: Yes, that's true. All right, So let's talk about the UK roster made decisions. Okay, So since the last time we were on the air, Yellovich announced he was transferred right and also committed to Ohio State so that all happened since we were on the air. 00:18:25 Speaker 2: Yes, thoughts, I kind of think it felt like he underachieved last year. I kind of had the door open. Don't the door hit you? Where the good Lord's plit? 00:18:33 Speaker 4: You go? 00:18:34 Speaker 7: Google? 00:18:34 Speaker 4: That's a little harsh, isn't it? Wow? Yeah? I mean what that's it? 00:18:38 Speaker 6: Was good? 00:18:39 Speaker 5: Here? 00:18:39 Speaker 4: Why fuss? He wrote a really nice note? 00:18:41 Speaker 2: He did write a really nice note? 00:18:42 Speaker 4: Are you being quiet? Why is he being mean? 00:18:45 Speaker 2: That's I think that. 00:18:46 Speaker 4: Take you don't mean that? Take that back. 00:18:48 Speaker 2: I definitely take it back. I've tried to be funny. 00:18:50 Speaker 4: You don't. What is the lesson we have learned from this show? 00:18:53 Speaker 2: You do not try to be. 00:18:54 Speaker 4: Funny naturally funny? Right, yes, exactly, so stop trying. Go ahead, now take that back. I take it back. Okay. I thought his note was really not It was very nice that he said, I know some of you all have mixed feelings about me, but I do not have mixed feelings about you, and even said Big Blue Nation is going to be great again. I thought that was a great I actually can't think of a player who's written like you know, I mean, people will write the I love you Big Blue Nation. And that's nice. But I actually thought he wrote it to where it was clear like he wrote it. 00:19:25 Speaker 3: A lot of it was chat gpt ish, Yes, but his didn't to me. 00:19:29 Speaker 4: No, No, it felt very sincere too. Yeah. I think he is all the more reason you should be nice to him. Brandon Garrison committed to Alabama. 00:19:39 Speaker 2: I kind of was surprised when I saw that. 00:19:41 Speaker 4: Well, considering I know what he asked Kentucky for, you would assume Alabama paid more than that. I'm very surprised. Ye, maybe you know, you know you heard you heard uh Oates say after the season, I gotta get more big dudes who can rebound and be physical. 00:19:58 Speaker 2: He did say that. 00:19:59 Speaker 4: Do you think that Garrison's that guy for him? Clearly he does, or I don't think he goes and gets it. 00:20:04 Speaker 2: Yeah, he believes he can be that physical guy inside, but we saw it for two years. He's not that guy. So he can be that guy in spurts. Yeah, but I don't know that he's got guy consistently. But I was surprised because he asked Kentucky for a substantial raise and Kentucky said no, And presumably Shannon, you got to think Arkansas said yes, yeah. 00:20:26 Speaker 3: I mean he doesn't give you a whole lot offensively, except for the game in the SEC tournament where he went off, but he does give you that physicality that you need in the SEC. 00:20:34 Speaker 4: He's getting a technical when he comes in because we host them. 00:20:38 Speaker 2: Next year, host them next year. 00:20:39 Speaker 4: He's going to get a technical, no doubt. 00:20:42 Speaker 2: That's when. That's when he's at his best when he gets a technical. 00:20:45 Speaker 4: Jasper Johnson being rumored to go to Arkansas. Yeah, what if col goes and gets Jasper? Well, that just adds to the get Derek Johnson's Facebook feed get ready for that. 00:20:57 Speaker 2: That's such a Cow move too to come in here and get Jasper grew up in Lexington, I mean the UK. 00:21:03 Speaker 4: I wish him the best and honestly, Cal might be the best coach for a guy like that. 00:21:08 Speaker 3: But Cow was interested in him before, right. 00:21:15 Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean that might work for him. I just think it's you gonna have a hard time. You know, Arkansas doesn't have any players yet and you don't hear about their name with a lot of teams in the portal, so I don't know what they're what their situation is. They do have a couple of really good recruit. Noah's coming back. 00:21:34 Speaker 2: I saw that. 00:21:34 Speaker 4: Excited about that. 00:21:35 Speaker 2: I'm excited. I mean I really thought Trent may lean and go somewhere else, try to get some more minutes and play. But obviously he's a Kentucky kid. He wants to put on that Kentucky jersey. 00:21:44 Speaker 4: So he's a great guy to have on your team for this reason. One. I mean, hopefully he still can be good. But these local businesses are paying his in ile. Oh there's no doubt, well, Cory, like what in aile is supposed to be? Yeah, Noah gets it. Like Noah should the ncaation put him on the brochure of what inile? Because he my guess is his nil is being paid. He might not even take any of the rev share. His money might all be from these local businesses because they all want to invest in the hometown kid. 00:22:17 Speaker 2: He's got a couple of big ones that he's already sent up for you. 00:22:19 Speaker 4: That he signed immediately that I think extended throughout his time here. So Shannon, you might get a kid that on the open markets you'd have to pay four hundred thousand, five hundred thousand, and you don't. 00:22:31 Speaker 2: Have to pay anything. They're making the money on Nile. 00:22:34 Speaker 4: He'll be making it on the Anilet. 00:22:35 Speaker 2: I felt like it just that spring ankle kind of threw him off track and he never kind of got was the same guy after that this past season. 00:22:41 Speaker 4: So I'm glad to have him. I still hope there's some con there's contribution. Yeah, for sure it's and he wants to be here. So all right, that's good. We'll take a break. Take your calls after this. TJ. Smith, personal injury attorney, called TJ. He'll make them pay. 00:22:56 Speaker 7: Now. 00:22:57 Speaker 3: More of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Morgan. 00:23:00 Speaker 4: Here's Matt Jones working back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio eight five nine twenty two eighty seven. 00:23:06 Speaker 7: Uh. 00:23:07 Speaker 4: Text machine is seven seven two seven four five two five four. We also know of a couple of other visits this week. Ronnie Freeman from Syracuse is visiting tomorrow. 00:23:17 Speaker 2: Donnie, Donnie, Donnie. 00:23:19 Speaker 4: Well, he's got a brother named Ronnie works at the auto shop. At the auto shop, Yeah, Donnie and Ronnie. 00:23:23 Speaker 2: Yeah, the Freeman boys. 00:23:25 Speaker 4: So they're coming together, see you. Ronnie's coming with Donnie. Shane, gotcha okay? Uh? Then Colegate transferred. Jalen Cox is coming to Kentucky on Wednesday. I've actually oddly seen him play too. I watched a Colgate game, Hilibert. Yeah, he was. He was very talented, averaged. It's like eighteen points a game at Colgate. 00:23:45 Speaker 2: Any news out of the Zoom Diallo visit was just here this past weekend. 00:23:49 Speaker 4: Not yet, but I've heard Kentucky's still interested in him. But I get the sense they have money for two out of those three guys of right, Stokes, Diallo. I mean maybe if they get two of them, then some donors are like, well, heck, let's make it three. But I think it'll be kind of two of three situation there. Text machine, wake up, text machine people. This is a big day. Is This is a day the text machine should be exploding with comments, information, and more importantly, random pictures from Carsons. 00:24:21 Speaker 2: Yes, okay, that's where they got the picture at zoom was this weekend? 00:24:26 Speaker 4: Was Yeah, I took a picture at Carson's was zoom. Yeah. Right, that's good, that's good. That's what we lost. Spies, all right. I don't want to go I mean, this is a basketball day, but we have to talk about something that happened with football, because maybe the biggest, well not maybe this is the highest ranked quarterback to commit to Kentucky since who. 00:24:47 Speaker 2: I heard John Hale on this morning, I think with Tom Lee said they thought Drew Barker was also a four star. 00:24:53 Speaker 4: But it's not just a four star. He is ranked in twenty four to seven sports or should be in Rivals as the number two quarterback in America. 00:25:03 Speaker 2: So you gotta go back Jake. 00:25:05 Speaker 4: Now do I say naw Rot? 00:25:07 Speaker 2: That's what they were saying on the Leaf Report. I think, is it naw Rot? 00:25:09 Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, it is No, it's rot. 00:25:12 Speaker 2: That's what they were saying on the Leader. 00:25:13 Speaker 4: Jake naw Rot, number two quarterback in America, picks Kentucky over Oregon. He's one of the elite eleven quarterbacks, right, pick eleven of them. I think Drew Barker was that as well. Yeah, and he committed to Kentucky after visiting will Stein. That's huge. I mean that that is now Again, high school commitments in twenty twenty six. You never know, there's the portal, there's all kinds of things that can happen. But I will say this, You tell me I get the number two quarterback in America to commit at a school that we were four and eight the last two years. I will say, heck, yeah. 00:25:52 Speaker 2: This is huge. Did just tell you what people think about will Stein as a coach, what he did at Oregon with his quarterbacks, What Joe Sloan did with Kayden Dent, Cayden Daniels, Jayden Jans to. 00:26:02 Speaker 4: Keep going, you'll get it. 00:26:04 Speaker 2: One of the times those two guys, what they've done with their quarterbacks, that's obviously people taking notice of that. So this may be if this guy can come and have success, that may be a pipeline that can continues to happen. 00:26:13 Speaker 4: Yeah, but just this kid, big, I mean, this is the best quarterback we've had commit here since is it Couch? 00:26:21 Speaker 2: Couch was the only one to be ranked in the top two in the country. 00:26:24 Speaker 4: I mean, it's got to be Coluch, right. I don't think we've had a dude, We've never had the number two quarterback. Couch was number one, Parker was top five to seven, the kid that committed, and the Ponitowski kid was in the top something. You know what. Morgan Newton was high, but I was actually he was. Remember the other kid that also committed the same year as Morgan Newton what was his name is tasa Kowski? But you know, but we haven't had number two. 00:26:55 Speaker 2: That's that's a thirty year span from Tim Couch to now to get a guy ranked this high a quarterback outside of the state of Kentucky to commit to Kentucky. 00:27:02 Speaker 4: Well, okay, is he the highest rate quarterback outside of the state of Kentucky? Ever? I think we said all this about positive pile of Potatowski, but this kid's right tired than him. 00:27:11 Speaker 2: Yeah, it's got to be. Then who all the top quarterbacks rank Corbeck are all from Kentucky? Well, Morgan Newton said you're gonna do it? 00:27:19 Speaker 4: Was from Indiana. Yeah, so was Morgan Newton the highest? 00:27:23 Speaker 2: He wasn't a second in the country. 00:27:25 Speaker 4: No, Morgan Newton. Shannon skipped the Kentucky Tennessee game to take the l SAT still my favorite Kentucky football story. Committed to his education, I understand, But he didn't even law. 00:27:39 Speaker 2: I think he works. Yeah, and Lexington is a but he's not a lawyer. What do you call him a clerk or whatever, a law clerk something he's in He works for a law firm, I think. 00:27:50 Speaker 4: Okay, so he is in law. Yeah, all right, Well, then I guess it did make sense because he wasn't going to be in the NFL. So well, anyway, great commitment. You know, will Stein is feeding the studs. You got your stud, right, that's a stud. And they got a defensive tackle who picked Kentucky over Auburn in Alabama. I'd say that kid must be a stud too if he was a from Star Alabama, from Alabama says that I want to go to Auburn, Alabama, I want to go to Kentucky. Okay man, another stud. That's'd be like a kid from you know, Harlan going, I'm not going to Kentucky or Louisville, I'm going to Auburn. 00:28:29 Speaker 2: Yeah. It seems a little odd, but committing for doing it. 00:28:33 Speaker 7: Yeah. 00:28:34 Speaker 4: Hey, so great stuff for will Stett, huge stuff. Let's get started, Derek. Go ahead, Derek, And I'm. 00:28:42 Speaker 8: Glad you brought up the quarterback thing. I was going to mention that I'm we prefaced by saying, of course, I'm happy to have him and better to have him committed than not. But it feels like, you know, for the better part of a decade or so, we never really see these high school recruits end up starting the season at quarterback. So I just find it kind of hard to get as excited for don't. 00:29:04 Speaker 4: I mean, but why do you? Why would you say that in some ways? Like I don't mean say that to be rude? Do you? I'm sure you're a wonderful dude, but why would you say that? Like, if you don't want to get as excited about the number two quarterback in America coming, then just don't. But why not? At least you did say it's better to have it than not. But if you don't want to get excited, why would you just call and say I'm not excited. I don't really I don't understand that mindset. Sorry, I went and. 00:29:32 Speaker 8: Come across that way. I am very excited. I just hope it ends up materializing with him. 00:29:37 Speaker 2: Too, But I do too. 00:29:39 Speaker 4: But there'll never be a day that it feels like it will materialize more than the day he picks the school. So can we have a day to be happy about it? 00:29:50 Speaker 8: And how do you think that plays with. 00:29:54 Speaker 4: I don't care, I don't care. I want. I mean, if Ponitowski, my assumption is it'll work itself out. One of those kids will end up being If Ponaitowski ends up really good, then maybe that kid decides not to come. Na Rod. If naw Rod ends up coming is really good, maybe Panaitowski leaves. But what I like is that we have a lot of options. It was only two or three years ago that, like, we were down to playing guys who couldn't make forward passes in the games and we had no chance against anybody. So I love the amount of options they have. 00:30:30 Speaker 8: Yeah, me too. I love the idea of bringing somebody up because you know, going back with Sawyer Smith and all these just transfers for quite a while now, and I think it'd be awesome to have somebody come up in the system and let Steyn kind of do his thing. 00:30:43 Speaker 4: Yeah, well, I appreciate Paul, and that is a good point about you know, we've had to take transfer so many years. This is a guy who will be in the system the whole time. 00:30:51 Speaker 2: If you're a few K football fan, you should be jumping up and down having a parade in the street. You got the second rank quarterback in the Kentucky commit to your school. 00:30:58 Speaker 4: I'm not trying to jump on that guy, but like, if we can't be happy about a commitment of the highest rank quarterback of all time without already talking Shannon about what if he leaves? He just got here exactly. 00:31:13 Speaker 3: If you can't be happy about that, you can't be happy about anything. 00:31:16 Speaker 4: I don't understand. Of course he could leave. Anybody could leave. Yeah, we all could leave. That's right. We might not be here tomorrow. Shannon is leaving. I just love for a week, exactly. Drew, by the way, not yet have a baby that we know text end this morning, nothing yet. Watch Also think about what how exciting could be? You could get stokes right and baby on the same day. And that's how I'll remember that kid's birthday. That's true for the rest of his life. Did you say it was gonna be Rory, Well, we said it was gonna be whoever won the Masters. Yeah, there you gor, And so we pricked predicted on the show. I predicted Sam Barr, who had a good tournament, had a shot, and Ryan Lemon predicted Roy McElroy and we mocked him. And now they win. Of course, of course, the golf a no ball. Elijah, go ahead, Elijah, Elijah, All right, Terry go ahead, Terry. 00:32:23 Speaker 7: Hey, good morning, guys. Just wanted to say that I am extremely excited about what's going on today around the basketball and football. And I just believe the reason for having Right and Stokes together is, uh, it showed them that this is who you're going to be with and this is going to be a big part of your team. So for me, I'm stremely excited, feel optimistic, but I believe you don't get one without the other. And I believe we're gonna land both of them today and start and start putting us back on the map. 00:32:54 Speaker 4: Hope you're right appreciate the call? Yeah, I mean, maybe Pope gets in him a room and he says, all right, Stokes, right, Malakai Cam, whatever we end up with, you four are the core. And that's true. They will be four of the top six guys on the team. So they could look there and say, you will be four of the six. Yes, let's roll. That's a pretty good recruiting tool. That's what's I mean. Welcome back Techi Sports Radio text machine. I got a couple of messages asking if I'm angry or grumpy. I'm not. I'm actually the opposite. I'm happy, and I don't want people to to, you know, dampen my vibe. 00:34:19 Speaker 2: Well, just a little disappointed. 00:34:20 Speaker 4: We are not the phrase that. What's the phrase I want to use? Mario, I don't want to but not kill my but like. 00:34:25 Speaker 2: And your cheerios. 00:34:26 Speaker 4: Okay, shut up. You are the last person that would know what the fraend. And and again we are instituting a rule starting this week. You do not get to say the name of bodily functions? Got you? All right? 00:34:40 Speaker 2: Gotcha? 00:34:41 Speaker 4: I got sent a clip of the week. I was gone, what was it? I you do not get to talk about bodily functions? All right? So I don't want to hear that word or the corresponding P word, or really, Shannon, any P word, because there's a lot of them. He could say there was a lot one day, So all right, got it? That's the rule. What's the phrase I was looking for, Mark chill, my vibe, crimp, my style, whatever, whatever the phrase is. I just don't if you know, I mean, if Tyrann Stokes commits tomorrow, someone could call, or tonight someone could call tomorrow and go, well, we doesn't he commit Wednesday? 00:35:27 Speaker 5: Yeah? 00:35:27 Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean that's true. But can we celebrate for a minute? 00:35:31 Speaker 2: So we should be doing with today with the football kid? 00:35:33 Speaker 4: All right? Did you see did you see Drake how he made the Toronto Rafters what they made him do to his seat? 00:35:41 Speaker 2: I heard you and Mario talking about it. 00:35:43 Speaker 4: Yeah, it's it's it's a little extra. It's like it's got icles hanging on He's got icicles hanging on him. Why well, because I mean, I think he makes him look cool. But here's what I thought about it, Shannon. Yeah, so I was talking to designers for my house and one of them told me that they had designed a very prominent celebrity suite at the Titans games. 00:36:11 Speaker 5: Okay, And I was like, you know, you talk about some rich people, do they first of all, have sweets at the Titans game and have it professionally furnished and designed. So that night I was going to my first Reds game in my seats and I thought, Shannon, wonder what the Reds have done for my seat? 00:36:33 Speaker 4: Have they? Have they done something for my seats? Same rips that were in there last year, not repaired. 00:36:41 Speaker 3: Couldn't he put duct tape on it? 00:36:42 Speaker 4: Same stains on the chairs? That's your fault. Now, I'm not mean it's my fault. The stains are your chair. Who else would have stained them? That's not the point. The point is I'm just saying like they're faded. You know what I mean, They're they're faded. I'm just saying, Reds, is it too much to ask for people who have held season tickets for eight years to not have rips in the seats. I'm not asking for a design or iced out, Drake. 00:37:09 Speaker 2: You wanted to take care of your season ticket people. They should mean it's a. 00:37:12 Speaker 4: Lot of money. Yeah, a lot of money, and they stink. Yeah, they're not good. They're not good, they're notine. They're the worst nine to seventeen that's ever existed. 00:37:22 Speaker 2: At this month's they're easiest schedule, I know. 00:37:24 Speaker 4: All right, So we saw the banners. Yes, THEO is on the phone. THEO is do you live in the house with the banners? 00:37:33 Speaker 7: Yes? 00:37:34 Speaker 4: Yes, okay? And do you all right? So you are how many people live in that house? 00:37:39 Speaker 6: We got ten guys and you got my buddy Game next to me right now. 00:37:42 Speaker 4: The leaders are the Banner Boys, THEO and Gabe. Are you would you call you to the leaders? 00:37:49 Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I'd say we had the idea of it. 00:37:51 Speaker 4: Okay, So you guys had the idea. So when you hear Stokes is coming, what do you go do? Where did you go get that big banner? 00:37:59 Speaker 6: So yeah, we were just sitting around Saturday morning, hanging out in the living room and we're scrolling on Twitter as we usually do, and I see that Stokes is visiting on Monday. So I kind of just jokingly say to Gabe, I'm like, we should like make a banner or something, kind of just kind of laugh it off. 00:38:13 Speaker 4: And then Sunday morning. 00:38:15 Speaker 9: Sunday came and they were like, yeah, let's let's go do it. So we drove the home depot, got some spray paint, and then we drove around looking for bed sheets and then one of my buddies brought it over and. 00:38:28 Speaker 4: So that's is that a used bed sheet? Is that? Is that your buddies us? Okay, no, he went, because I'll pay for y'all to get clean bed sheets up there. We need we need no stains, all right, So then you put those up, they start to get attention. And then last night the coaches came by tell everybody about that. Oh yeah. 00:38:50 Speaker 9: We were just sitting outside and I see a white truck stop in front of the car or in front of the house, and I was like, it looks like Coach McClean. They pulled up a little bit and we saw the door open. H it was Coach McLain and Coach Mo. 00:39:03 Speaker 4: They walked out like they called him coach Mo, like he's already his buddy, Yeah, Coach Coach Mo Williams. He hangs with Gabe and the all right go ahead though, but. 00:39:12 Speaker 9: He said Coach MO was taking a video and uh, Coach McClain, he was like, Donnie's mad you all have one up for him, and he turned his phone around and he was. 00:39:21 Speaker 4: So he was facetiming Donnie Freeman, the recruit from Syracuse, and he said, he's mad you don't have have one of him. And then you all went and put another one up, didn't you. 00:39:31 Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, yeah, we immediately saw that. So we ran downstairs, spray paying another hung it up and then that was on social media too, So. 00:39:40 Speaker 4: Is the planned anytime of guy's on campus? Are you gonna keep this up? 00:39:45 Speaker 2: Yeah, that's the thing. 00:39:45 Speaker 6: I was like, well, I mean, if we're the Banner Boys now and now we just got to roll with it. 00:39:49 Speaker 4: Well, Banner Boys is a good thing. Now. Are you all in a fraternity that I hear? 00:39:55 Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, we're here. 00:39:56 Speaker 4: We're Sigma cos here at UK Sigma K's okay. So I suggest tes did Ryan that if we get right in Stoves, we ought to do our show at that house this week. 00:40:08 Speaker 2: I love it. 00:40:08 Speaker 4: I mean, we got to make that happen. So if we get both those guys, maybe Thursday we could do the house. Would you be okay if we did? Absolutely? Okay, all right, I'll tell you what. I got your phone number. If it works out, then maybe on Thursday we'll go out there and do the show there. I don't know. I think you guys have better be careful what you wish for because who knows who might show up for that. But and if you get you all have my information. If you get any more messages of recruits, you let me know. Okay, absolutely you'll see the banners. Well, tell me before you put the banners up. But seriously that that is very cool that you all did that, Like, that's the best of UK fandom. And what do you think about the fact that now other people are putting them up at their houses. 00:41:00 Speaker 9: Yeah, that's awesome. I hope to see them all over Lexington. 00:41:02 Speaker 4: That's great, all right, Gabe THEO thank you very much, well done. 00:41:06 Speaker 6: I feel thank you guys, go kay, thank you for having us there. 00:41:09 Speaker 4: You go. So isn't that cool? 00:41:11 Speaker 2: For all the pushback our fans get a lot of times, that's our fan base at its best. We know some fraternity guys having some fun and an idea kind of just jumps out of nowhere and now every here's what. 00:41:21 Speaker 4: You're gonna do. I'm gonna give Mario this number. You're good at Mario, Gabe and THEO. I assume you're still listening when you get back to Lexing. Because he's in Louisville. You go by there and give us a little Uh. Is that all right? We'll get put Mario on the streets, kind of check it out. 00:41:36 Speaker 2: Yeah. 00:41:37 Speaker 4: Also make sure they have restrooms that are not disgusting. If we're gonna do the show there Thursday, will listen. I've fit and I know what frad House's restroom's gonna look like. Uh, but very cool. And then I love that other places are doing I do too. But you can all got a lot of time for today, and if. 00:41:54 Speaker 2: This happens, if they get both those guys, it's reason to celebrate and have a good time and have a party. 00:41:59 Speaker 4: I love it. I don't see it. I don't know if they realize if we just show up on the yard. 00:42:03 Speaker 3: What's a lot of timing? Been to a frid House that has been twenty years for me? 00:42:08 Speaker 4: Yeah, maybe I went to a couple at Duke Law School many years ago, but that's probably it. All right, we will take a break, come back our number two. More on this, take your calls. It's Kentucky Sports Radio.
