<v Speaker 3>It was a man baby. They couldn't come up they
<v Speaker 3>used to play this or whatever. Yeah, So the actor's
<v Speaker 3>name is Mickey Morton, and he was not only Mala,
<v Speaker 3>he was also Torque. And he was also Chief Gormanda's
<v Speaker 3>second pair of arms.
<v Speaker 4>And I wonder he was reluctant to give it Art
<v Speaker 4>Carney a kiss.
<v Speaker 3>Already been hugging on the back of Carvey Korman.
<v Speaker 4>Okay, do we want to talk about Mark Hamill in makeup?
<v Speaker 3>He had some guyliner going on, didn't he?
<v Speaker 4>Oh my god?

<v Speaker 4>Have you seen That's terrible?
<v Speaker 3>It's really bad. Have you seen the pictures where they
<v Speaker 3>like change the characters from Star Wars into the opposite gender,
<v Speaker 3>where like Luke and Yeah are made to look like
<v Speaker 3>their women. When I saw this, I was like, holy crap,
<v Speaker 3>this is where they got the idea, because he's he's
<v Speaker 3>got some major makeup going on in this one.
<v Speaker 7>Well, and I felt a little bad. Like one of
<v Speaker 7>the first times I saw that, I was like, what
<v Speaker 7>did they do? Like why did they just they they?
<v Speaker 7>I don't know, He's got at least like seven coats on,
<v Speaker 7>Like the first couple didn't take so they just kept going.
<v Speaker 7>And but then I kind of felt bad about that
<v Speaker 7>because I'm like, then I read up something on it
<v Speaker 7>and They're like, well, it could have been because he
<v Speaker 7>was in that really bad car accident and he needed
<v Speaker 7>to have some additional makeup or yeah, so that maybe
<v Speaker 7>I read something. I don't know how valid that is
<v Speaker 7>or how accurate that is, but one of the things
<v Speaker 7>I read said he was in such heavy makeup because
<v Speaker 7>he had been in that near fatal car crash in.
<v Speaker 2>Oh gosh, it was right. It was not long.
<v Speaker 7>After or actually right before Star Wars came out in
<v Speaker 7>seventy seven.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, so it was the year before.
<v Speaker 4>See that's yeah, I don't buy that for one second,
<v Speaker 4>because you don't need eyeliner to cover facial scars, and
<v Speaker 4>he didn't wear all that crap and then fire strikes back.
<v Speaker 3>Yep, you guys are right. It's January of seventy seven,
<v Speaker 3>is when into that accident.
<v Speaker 7>But now just a terrifying amount of makeup, so orange
<v Speaker 7>he looks like franken Furder from Rocky Horror Picture Show?
<v Speaker 4>Can we talk? Are we ready to talk about Kerrie
<v Speaker 4>Fisher singing voice?
<v Speaker 2>We sure away.
<v Speaker 3>Day? I loved it, Yeah, I loved it. I loved
<v Speaker 3>that she looked like she was as high as a
<v Speaker 3>king too. She's stone out of her gourd.
<v Speaker 4>Listen, this is the last time that Carrie Fisher smiled
<v Speaker 4>in any Star Wars anything. She was sad and Empire
<v Speaker 4>strikes back. She was sad and returned the Jedi. She
<v Speaker 4>was at least happy.
<v Speaker 7>Yeah, yeah, no, I mean that that scene in particular,
<v Speaker 7>that was probably the the only for me, the only
<v Speaker 7>couple of segments or scenes that made some of it bearable.
<v Speaker 7>Like if I was gonna fast forward and I know,
<v Speaker 7>I don't remember who it was earlier. That might have
<v Speaker 7>been Dentis or I did somebody else was saying to me,
<v Speaker 7>I don't know. The b Arthur scene. If you take
<v Speaker 7>out the weird you know, sexual harassment from the guy
<v Speaker 7>who drinks through his head. If you take that out,
<v Speaker 7>to me, that wasn't even a bad scene. I mean,
<v Speaker 7>if you're gonna do you're gonna do something in the
<v Speaker 7>Star Wars canteena at least that one takes place in
<v Speaker 7>a Star Wars location, and you've got Star Wars characters.
<v Speaker 7>Like some of the other acts, they're not they're completely
<v Speaker 7>devoid of Star Wars. Like you could remove it from
<v Speaker 7>the Star Wars Holiday special, drump dump it in some
<v Speaker 7>other holiday special and it would have been totally fine.
<v Speaker 7>So the b Arthur song like that was actually one
<v Speaker 7>of my I don't want to say favorite, that's really
<v Speaker 7>too strong of a word, but that was that was
<v Speaker 7>one of the most tolerable parts parts of this whole thing.
<v Speaker 7>And then the Princess Leah part too. Like everything else,
<v Speaker 7>I totally tossed that out the window. Those to me,
<v Speaker 7>that in the in the Boat of Het cartoon, which
<v Speaker 7>I'm sure we'll talk about too, but those are really
<v Speaker 7>like the only three parts that I'm even quasi okay
<v Speaker 7>with in this whole thing.
<v Speaker 3>I kind of dig the Jefferson Starship song, and I
<v Speaker 3>thought that was and it kind of looks like he's
<v Speaker 3>trying to impale his head with a lightsaber while he's
<v Speaker 3>singing it.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, if only they would have sung we built this city.
<v Speaker 4>That would have helped.
<v Speaker 2>They could have switched up there.
<v Speaker 7>They probably didn't want to spoil anything, but they could
<v Speaker 7>have done we built cloud City.
<v Speaker 4>Oh, that would have been great.
<v Speaker 5>Man would have been nice. That'd have been nice.
<v Speaker 4>One of the things that I thought was funny. Okay, So,
<v Speaker 4>mister star Wars gig, John, does it bother you that
<v Speaker 4>they called the wikie planet Kazook the whole time.
<v Speaker 7>Yeah, well yeah, I mean yeah, I kind of I
<v Speaker 7>kind of knew about that, so I just kind of
<v Speaker 7>was like, all right, all right, it had never been
<v Speaker 7>mentioned before. We'll we'll chalk this up as a well,
<v Speaker 7>I'm just gonna chalk it up as a hand han
<v Speaker 7>Leah Leah.

<v Speaker 7>It's people don't know how to pronounce names in the
<v Speaker 7>Star Wars universe, so I'm totally fine the.
<v Speaker 4>Death of that stormtrooper would not be noticed apparently by anyone.

<v Speaker 8>Gonna say, the one thing that helped is when Hans soloked,
<v Speaker 8>the one thing that made me laugh.
<v Speaker 5>Hansol was like, oh wow, what did he say?
<v Speaker 8>He said something like they're gonna see him down there,
<v Speaker 8>or they're gonna find him eventually or something and or
<v Speaker 8>whatever his comment was. It was just his offhand like
<v Speaker 8>oh yeah, and then he just picks up the gun
<v Speaker 8>and just kind of drops it over. Why was that
<v Speaker 8>so funny to be? I don't know, but he's just like, oh, yeah,
<v Speaker 8>they're gonna find those guys who drops the gun.
<v Speaker 4>Okay, you do get a great Willem scream right before
<v Speaker 4>that storm, yes to his death.
<v Speaker 6>So I'm just wondering how the investigation is going to
<v Speaker 6>go when they go up there and they find the
<v Speaker 6>guy that was left with them to watch them, and
<v Speaker 6>they see the broken railing.
<v Speaker 5>Yeah, yeah, and he's.
<v Speaker 6>The last place he was at, and I'm like, where
<v Speaker 6>did he go? Well, that our Carney story is really

<v Speaker 8>demand prem Nacta with you know, with the wookies. The
<v Speaker 8>Emperor has dissolved the Senate and reinstituted Primaanacta with all

<v Speaker 8>that existed in this whole world was just Star Wars
<v Speaker 8>the movie, not even thinking of it as Star Wars
<v Speaker 8>episode for a New Hope, but just Star Wars like.
<v Speaker 5>Like, and everything else didn't exist.
<v Speaker 8>Like if if you put some dude on a desert
<v Speaker 8>island and just gave him Star Wars and said and
<v Speaker 8>cocaine and said come up with something.

<v Speaker 7>All right, so I found it. Anthony Daniels was in Solo.
<v Speaker 7>He was not C three po oh wow. He played
<v Speaker 7>a corroscanti human male who was a slave working in
<v Speaker 7>the spice minds of Kessel. In Solo, his characters his
<v Speaker 7>character's name was tack Nice.
<v Speaker 3>So who was he in Rogue one?
<v Speaker 7>Rogue three Po was in like for like two seconds
<v Speaker 7>in Rogue one, just as everybody's taken off at the
<v Speaker 7>end and they make some comment about like we're the
<v Speaker 7>last to hear about anything.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, is in everything new morning benches.
<v Speaker 4>All right, well let's talk about this.
<v Speaker 3>The cartoon cartoon is big because it is the first
<v Speaker 3>appearance of Bob Effect.
<v Speaker 4>What do you guys about the cartoon, John, what do
<v Speaker 4>you think.
<v Speaker 7>Other than the animation being a little wonky. I thought
<v Speaker 7>it wasn't bad like it was, you know, for a
<v Speaker 7>kid's cartoon, totally fine as an adult watching it, Like, Wow,
<v Speaker 7>you guys are really trusting of this masked bounty hunter,
<v Speaker 7>like real fast, Like I don't know any anybody keeps
<v Speaker 7>calling me friend too often, and he's carrying this big
<v Speaker 7>gun and you know, wants to be my friend and
<v Speaker 7>seems to have some ulterior motives here. I don't know
<v Speaker 7>that I'm gonna question that a little bit, but I
<v Speaker 7>know Luke going to be as trusting as he wants
<v Speaker 7>to be. But yeah, no, I thought it was fine.
<v Speaker 7>I thought it was fine being the first. I think
<v Speaker 7>this is actually also the first Star Wars animation ever.
<v Speaker 7>I don't think there was ever any other animated I'm
<v Speaker 7>trying to remember. Yeah, yeah, So, I mean after this,
<v Speaker 7>in the natandition, you would have had like droids and
<v Speaker 7>ewoks and you know, some of those other cartoons that
<v Speaker 7>would come out later.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah.
<v Speaker 7>Other other than the animation being a little weird, I'm
<v Speaker 7>fine with it. And and it's the first time we
<v Speaker 7>get you know, now that we've had the Mandalorian, it's
<v Speaker 7>the first time we get the amb and phase rifle
<v Speaker 7>and all that other stuff. And I mean, even which
<v Speaker 7>is funny.
<v Speaker 2>You see.
<v Speaker 7>I know some people have kind of argued, like the
<v Speaker 7>movies that Boba fed is in, you know, before the
<v Speaker 7>special editions, and it was really just Empire strikes Back
<v Speaker 7>and Return of the Jedi. Does he really do that
<v Speaker 7>much that proves that he's such a you know, cool
<v Speaker 7>guy that everybody says he is in the movies. No,
<v Speaker 7>not really, not necessarily. I mean he kind of gets
<v Speaker 7>taken out like a chump in Return of the Jedi,
<v Speaker 7>and other than being able to you know, follow somebody
<v Speaker 7>other than tailing somebody in his car, he really doesn't
<v Speaker 7>do a whole lot in Empire Strikes Back to just
<v Speaker 7>show just how cool he is. In this one, I mean,
<v Speaker 7>he's he's riding a dinosaur.
<v Speaker 3>I started watching it, and as Luke lands on whatever
<v Speaker 3>planet it is he's going to, suddenly there's a dragon
<v Speaker 3>that comes out of the ground, it starts attagging him,
<v Speaker 3>and then whatever it has to escape dives back into
<v Speaker 3>the ground. And I just thought, did they totally get
<v Speaker 3>this for the first episode of season two of Mandalorian?
<v Speaker 7>Well, because I think I think John Favreau and Dave Filoni,
<v Speaker 7>you know who are are running and directing Mandalorian. I
<v Speaker 7>think they've said several times that there are there's quite
<v Speaker 7>a bit of stuff that was inspired by this cartoon.
<v Speaker 7>It was called The Faithful Wookie, I think is the
<v Speaker 7>title of this cartoon, and I think they've said, yeah,
<v Speaker 7>there's several things, like especially the gun, but some of
<v Speaker 7>the other stuff is directly from the holiday special that
<v Speaker 7>they've tried to put into The Mandalorian.
<v Speaker 4>Skelton, the creat Dragon is in a New Hope.
<v Speaker 7>Yeah, yeah, and even even Life Day Life Day gets
<v Speaker 7>referenced in the first episode of The Mandalorian.
<v Speaker 3>Oh man, I need to go.
<v Speaker 7>Unless there was that first guy, that first guy that
<v Speaker 7>the Mandalorian is trying to catch when he first goes
<v Speaker 7>into that one bar, and it's the Blues guy. I
<v Speaker 7>forget what his name is, and he captures him and
<v Speaker 7>he says something about you know, I just I got
<v Speaker 7>to try to be home in time for.
<v Speaker 2>Life Day or something.
<v Speaker 7>And I think that was the first other that was
<v Speaker 7>the first ever other than the holiday special that ever
<v Speaker 7>gets mentioned. So that's why you know, at the time
<v Speaker 7>Life Day they kind of imply it's just a Wookie
<v Speaker 7>thing in this one, but in the Mandalorian now you've
<v Speaker 7>kind of gotten the idea that it's probably more than
<v Speaker 7>just Wookie. So that's I really would have in hindsight
<v Speaker 7>obviously twenty twenty, but I would have really liked to
<v Speaker 7>have just explored Life Day a little bit more. But
<v Speaker 7>that's getting off from the Boba Fet cartoon. No, I
<v Speaker 7>really I dig the Boba Fet cartoon.
<v Speaker 5>I like it, and I don't know if you guys
<v Speaker 5>are going to jump into it.
<v Speaker 8>I'm curious who thought up of who thought of Bob Effet,
<v Speaker 8>Like I'd love to know, like a like.
<v Speaker 7>Joe Johnston, guy that directed The Rocketeer did Captain America.
<v Speaker 7>He designed Boba Fett and based him off of those
<v Speaker 7>like King of the Rocketmen and some of those old movies.
<v Speaker 7>You know, he loved those old movies and that was
<v Speaker 7>he was the one responsible. He did a lot of
<v Speaker 7>the Like I don't remember if did he do part
<v Speaker 7>of the design for the Millennium Falcon, which I know
<v Speaker 7>would get you excited, Pat, but he I know, he
<v Speaker 7>designed Boba Fette and then and that's why.
<v Speaker 2>That's why.
<v Speaker 7>Then ultimately, like when he had the opportunity to direct
<v Speaker 7>the Rocketeer later on, he's like, sign me up this
<v Speaker 7>this is my bag, baby.
<v Speaker 6>And some of the texts leading up to this this podcast,
<v Speaker 6>somebody had referenced that sexual harassment things.
<v Speaker 7>You know, I was thinking, like, we refer to that,
<v Speaker 7>we refer to that as R two me too, speaking
<v Speaker 7>of which I did look up a picture. They had
<v Speaker 7>some of the prototypes for the action figures for the
<v Speaker 7>Holiday special, and the only prototypes they made were Chewbacca's family,
<v Speaker 7>And basically all it is is it's the I don't
<v Speaker 7>know if you guys ever had the like the the
<v Speaker 7>classic just the first round like Phase one action figures
<v Speaker 7>that came out after after Star Wars. It's the classic
<v Speaker 7>Chewbacca action figure. And basically the difference is they've just
<v Speaker 7>kind of colored each one a little differently, so it's
<v Speaker 7>it's Chewbacca and then it's like they've shrunk down Chewbacca
<v Speaker 7>for Lumpy and that the coloring is a little bit lighter.
<v Speaker 7>And then they've got another Chewbacca and they've taken off
<v Speaker 7>the bandolier and they've just colored his head white and
<v Speaker 7>the rest of him is brown. And then Mala is
<v Speaker 7>basically Chewbacca colored a very light tan with a little
<v Speaker 7>bit of how shall I say, test articulation, and so
<v Speaker 7>it's it makes looking at them, and I haven't zoomed
<v Speaker 7>in on the picture, and I really don't want to.
<v Speaker 7>It's a little awkward. It's a little awkward. The other
<v Speaker 7>thing they said, I was reading this article here, and
<v Speaker 7>they said that one of the things that they never
<v Speaker 7>made a prototype of, but they had sketched out was
<v Speaker 7>a toy of Boba the Sea Serpent that Boba fet
<v Speaker 7>is writing on there. So they had plans to make.
<v Speaker 7>Of course, they made Boba fet prototypes and had the
<v Speaker 7>original ones were colored the way he's colored in this
<v Speaker 7>holiday special, and then they did Chewbacca's family, and then
<v Speaker 7>they were planning to do a sea serpent toy, and
<v Speaker 7>then they got the reviews of the show and Kenner's
<v Speaker 7>just like, nope, pull the plug.
<v Speaker 4>Star Star star Let's talk about the final scene, the
<v Speaker 4>final We waited an hour and twenty minutes for Chewbacca
<v Speaker 4>to show up at home. The Imperials have just trashed
<v Speaker 4>Lumpy's room. They're looking for rebel stuff. They can't find anything.
<v Speaker 4>Art Carney is trying his best to help out. Han
<v Speaker 4>and Chewy show up. As soon as Chewy shows up,
<v Speaker 4>he's taken under gunpoint to protect Lumpy, and Han wax
<v Speaker 4>the gun out of the Stormtrooper's hand and then the
<v Speaker 4>stormtrooper trips over some firewood falls to his death. And
<v Speaker 4>then Han proceeds to tell Chewbacca's family how much they
<v Speaker 4>mean to him. It's this very touching moment. Then they're
<v Speaker 4>off to hear Princess Leah scene. What do you guys
<v Speaker 4>think about that final scene?
<v Speaker 8>I I just, I mean, how hard is it to
<v Speaker 8>have a somewhat decent fight like, I mean, they weren't
<v Speaker 8>even asking for a long fight scene. I mean that
<v Speaker 8>could have redeemed some of it if if there would
<v Speaker 8>have been a little bit of a of a fights
<v Speaker 8>you know, I mean there, uh, I know, I know
<v Speaker 8>I'm kind of missing the point, but I mean, you know,
<v Speaker 8>have something where Chewbacca picks up the guy and chucks
<v Speaker 8>him over or I mean, heck, you know what, just
<v Speaker 8>drop in, you know, drop in the scene from the
<v Speaker 8>Death Star when they get into the shootout where you know,
<v Speaker 8>they bring Chewy in and they're they're trying to break
<v Speaker 8>into look out.
<v Speaker 5>He's loose like that. Just drop that and I would
<v Speaker 5>have enjoyed watching that again, Like, and.
<v Speaker 6>They're just going to come in and save the day
<v Speaker 6>and wrap it up for the kids, the little kids.
<v Speaker 6>You know, it was like because they can't make it
<v Speaker 6>too violent, is what it seemed like. But then at
<v Speaker 6>the same time you had all those other weird things
<v Speaker 6>going on, So where were the thoughts of the kids,
<v Speaker 6>you know, like, can't show many violence here, but we
<v Speaker 6>can definitely throw in the sexual harassment in the uh
<v Speaker 6>Eleen hornon and all that.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah Socoren, Yeah, yeah right.
<v Speaker 7>I do want to say what redeems that that fight
<v Speaker 7>scene for me is the fact that the Stormtrooper did
<v Speaker 7>perform the Wilhelm scream as he did fall over the railing.
<v Speaker 4>So you know, that's something we didn't really talk about.
<v Speaker 4>What do you guys think about the sort of at
<v Speaker 4>the beginning, you have the hologram chess board that they
<v Speaker 4>had in Star Wars where they played Kuess and then
<v Speaker 4>you have all these weird circus performers. It doesn't even
<v Speaker 4>thought that would be a good idea.
<v Speaker 3>We have to take what should have been a thirty
<v Speaker 3>minute episode and expanded into two hours.
<v Speaker 9>What can we do?
<v Speaker 6>Yeah, but nothing seemed connected? That was what it was
<v Speaker 6>so weird. You could literally make you know, just nothing was.
<v Speaker 3>Connected and talking about not connected during the cartoon. Suddenly
<v Speaker 3>in the middle of the cartoon we get a voice
<v Speaker 3>which almost sounds like Captain James T. Kirk saying starlog
<v Speaker 3>and then explain it going on in Boba FET's head.
<v Speaker 3>I'm just like, where did that guy come from? Why

<v Speaker 8>character like that that was able to capture fandom's feelings
<v Speaker 8>about it something that came out in the cartoon. And

<v Speaker 8>that I enjoyed in this Bob Effect cartoon, right, Like,
<v Speaker 8>I just think that's cool that, you know, whatever, that
<v Speaker 8>character was able to attain like mystical status with not
<v Speaker 8>a lot of material. And that's where like now with
<v Speaker 8>Mandalorian and everything, we're going cuckoo for Cocoa puffs because like, wow,
<v Speaker 8>we get to see more of this character.
<v Speaker 4>You're right, we've waited since nineteen eighty or nineteen seventy
<v Speaker 4>eight for Boba Fet to do something, and last week
<v Speaker 4>he finally did. That's forty years. Yeah, that's forty years

<v Speaker 8>mean singing as Princess Leah, Okay, that was a little
<v Speaker 8>bit like okay, But I mean, you know, sometimes we've
<v Speaker 8>got movies that come out now where actors or actresses
<v Speaker 8>are trying to sing in the movies. And then the
<v Speaker 8>second thing is then you've got some movies where it's like, no,
<v Speaker 8>they can really sing. They they got to, you know,
<v Speaker 8>then they can, they can bring it.
<v Speaker 5>It's just they never had a role yet. And and
<v Speaker 5>so I don't know.
<v Speaker 8>I always like to I always like to see that
<v Speaker 8>extra dimension of certain actors and actresses. And I always
<v Speaker 8>frame it with no one's hiring me to do any
<v Speaker 8>kind of professional singing. No one's hiring me to do
<v Speaker 8>any kind of professional trumpet playing. So I say that
<v Speaker 8>humbly because it's like I don't have any Christmas specials
<v Speaker 8>that I'm singing on. But that was kind of like
<v Speaker 8>a Oh, that's just cool to see her, you know,

<v Speaker 7>Day celebrating like a is it a religious thing? Is
<v Speaker 7>it a you know, part of this Jedi mysticism? I mean,
<v Speaker 7>how how tied into all of it is the idea
<v Speaker 7>of Life Day. So I mean, I'd be really curious
