<v Speaker 1>nothing less this time. So they will be doing the
<v Speaker 1>email portion of our show. So anything that you write
<v Speaker 1>into us for next week, again not this week, but
<v Speaker 1>a week from Wednesday, then go ahead and email us

<v Speaker 1>knowledge and he has seen the product evolved. So you're
<v Speaker 1>gonna get to learn a little bit about Mark. You're
<v Speaker 1>gonna get to hear his opinions about the current product
<v Speaker 1>this This is gonna be a lot of fun, So
<v Speaker 1>stay tuned for that, and I'm really excited for it.
<v Speaker 1>But again, first, welcome everybody to the ww podcast Week
<v Speaker 1>in Review for October twenty fourth, twenty twenty one. And
<v Speaker 1>we are now on the road to Survivor Series and
<v Speaker 1>I'm I don't want to say I'm not excited, but
<v Speaker 1>WWE has really just made this pay per view a
<v Speaker 1>despised pay per view by me, considering how they've structured
<v Speaker 1>the damn show of being a brand rivalry that is
<v Speaker 1>just manufactured from thin air, and everybody's supposed to have
<v Speaker 1>this loyalty to the color that they are assigned. It's
<v Speaker 1>very kindergarten and it's the fans don't really care about
<v Speaker 1>the brand that the whole storyline is built around. They
<v Speaker 1>care about the stars. So the brand rivalry is really nothing.
<v Speaker 1>It means nothing and there are no consequences that we see.
<v Speaker 1>As we've seen year after year after year, there have
<v Speaker 1>been nothing. Nothing has happened. I mean, I remember when
<v Speaker 1>Shane McMahon got swept by by Monday at Raw Stephanie
<v Speaker 1>McMahon's Running Monday at Raw, Shane's running smack Down. It
<v Speaker 1>was like three four years, four years ago. Maybe zero consequences,
<v Speaker 1>nothing zero. I believe even Brock Lezer f five Shane
<v Speaker 1>McMahon on that show, and still nothing happened, nothing came
<v Speaker 1>of it. We never got a match between Shane and Brock.
<v Speaker 1>There's just there's no consequences. So if you think there
<v Speaker 1>are even in the most extreme case of the brand
<v Speaker 1>one brand sweeping the other, yeah, there are exactly a
<v Speaker 1>there's a sum of zero consequences zero. Unless things change
<v Speaker 1>this year, of which I've not heard, nothing will uh
<v Speaker 1>to me really come of this. It's just a spectacle.
<v Speaker 1>It's an exhibition, and we just saw the damn brand split.
<v Speaker 1>So why are we putting backstars that were just on
<v Speaker 1>the same show. Yeah, I don't know this is it's
<v Speaker 1>a gimmick that doesn't need to exist for Survivors series
<v Speaker 1>that should be able to hold its own on name
<v Speaker 1>value and history and lineage of what the Survivor series
<v Speaker 1>has meant in years past before all of this manufactured
<v Speaker 1>brand rivalry nonsense. So you're going to get to hear
<v Speaker 1>Mark and myself discuss Survivor series as we head forward.
<v Speaker 1>Of course, what made him a fan, how long he's
<v Speaker 1>been watching wrestling, all that good stuff. So this is
<v Speaker 1>going to be a really fun show, a really different listen,

<v Speaker 1>I'm really excited to bring on Mark, and I just

<v Speaker 1>going to go into the Week in Review. We're going
<v Speaker 1>to have a really fun time talking about the product
<v Speaker 1>of course with Crown Jewel, some of the fallout from that.
<v Speaker 1>We're going to be going into SmackDown and not really
<v Speaker 1>touching on RAW guys, just because Monday Night Raw was
<v Speaker 1>before Crown Jewel and Crown Jewels really the turning points.
<v Speaker 1>So we're not going to touch too much on Monday
<v Speaker 1>Net Raw. Just the heads up there. But before we
<v Speaker 1>get everything going, guys, Memphis, Mark, welcome to the show.
<v Speaker 3>How you doing brother, I'm.
<v Speaker 4>Doing great, guys. I hope everybody's doing well there.
<v Speaker 5>Yeah, we're doing well here. We're doing well here.
<v Speaker 4>You know.
<v Speaker 1>Hopefully my my toddler stays asleep tonight. It was just
<v Speaker 1>one of those nights where baby's up, Toddler's up, and
<v Speaker 1>so if anybody here's any crying in the backround, you know,
<v Speaker 1>just ignore it.
<v Speaker 6>But that said, it could be me, Yeah, yeah, it
<v Speaker 6>could be yeah, it could be you. But before we
<v Speaker 6>got going, man, I want to introduce you to our
<v Speaker 6>listeners and give them a little bit of a background
<v Speaker 6>about you and how you how you ended up in.
<v Speaker 3>This co host chair, so to speak.
<v Speaker 1>And obviously we connected on Twitter, but a little bit
<v Speaker 1>of background on you as a as a wrestling fan.
<v Speaker 1>How did you and when did you become a wrestling fan?
<v Speaker 4>Well, I actually grew up in a family that every
<v Speaker 4>Saturday morning it was you ate Hamburgers with the family
<v Speaker 4>and you sit around the TV and you watched a
<v Speaker 4>Memphis wrestling that came home, and that was a ritual.
<v Speaker 4>And then years later, well as my teenage years, I
<v Speaker 4>got to actually sell programs at where the mecca of
<v Speaker 4>Memphis wrestling back in the day was called the Mid
<v Speaker 4>South Coliseum. It would seed about eleven thousand people and
<v Speaker 4>it sold out quite quite a few time times where
<v Speaker 4>a teenager like myself fourteen years old could make seventy
<v Speaker 4>five to one hundred dollars in cash program, so it's
<v Speaker 4>pretty good back in the day. But other than that
<v Speaker 4>being then the nightclub restaurant business, knowing the wrestlers when
<v Speaker 4>they come in and taking care of some of the
<v Speaker 4>guys stories. I could go home, But let's talk about
<v Speaker 4>what's going on in the WWEIGHT.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, let's get into it. I mean, there is a
<v Speaker 1>lot going on. We have a lot going on in WWE,
<v Speaker 1>and we are on the road.
<v Speaker 3>To Survivor Series.
<v Speaker 1>Love it or hate it, that's where we're at as
<v Speaker 1>we and it's kind of interesting too. Now I'm gonna
<v Speaker 1>get into the product in a second, But do you
<v Speaker 1>look at Survivors Series and say to yourself, hmm, this
<v Speaker 1>is kind of the unofficial beginning to WrestleMania, Or do
<v Speaker 1>you not even look at WrestleMania until the Royal Rumble
<v Speaker 1>time frame? When do you start to kind of peek
<v Speaker 1>your head in and look at WrestleMania and look at
<v Speaker 1>maybe where they're starting to line things up.
<v Speaker 4>Well, back in the older, you would set these up
<v Speaker 4>with your pay per views for the story going on
<v Speaker 4>down the road, and that's the way this originally was cast.
<v Speaker 4>When it first started out as a pay per view,
<v Speaker 4>But now the WW is kind of not really watered
<v Speaker 4>it down, but the story can change after here, so
<v Speaker 4>it kind of it's a good pay per view. I mean,
<v Speaker 4>it's it's a good chance to see some good talent,
<v Speaker 4>but it just doesn't carry the same weight that it
<v Speaker 4>used to in my eyes, in my humble opinion.
<v Speaker 1>Do you enjoy the whole brand versus brand manufactured rivalry?
<v Speaker 1>Is I feel like it is every year? Or do
<v Speaker 1>you would you rather have it be what it used
<v Speaker 1>to be with just the traditional five on five elimination
<v Speaker 1>tag match that would be that would take place. How
<v Speaker 1>do you feel about this somewhat of an exhibition pay
<v Speaker 1>per view of having Raw and SmackDown stars go after
<v Speaker 1>one another really for no gain. I mean, I don't
<v Speaker 1>see any consequence of you know, whoever wins and whoever loses.
<v Speaker 1>It seems as if it's just bragging right to me,
<v Speaker 1>move on?
<v Speaker 4>Well, I mean, as I said, with not having the
<v Speaker 4>same way that it used to and you're not carrying
<v Speaker 4>the story on to something. You know, back in the
<v Speaker 4>older days when you just had the traditional it just
<v Speaker 4>seemed a little stronger and it meant something. But they
<v Speaker 4>have they've had to build their own competition. For so long,
<v Speaker 4>they didn't have any competition, so they had to create
<v Speaker 4>their own. And uh, and I think with n XT
<v Speaker 4>kind of coming on, is like some people are even
<v Speaker 4>looking at that as like a better product than one
<v Speaker 4>of the one of the other shows. So uh, that can,
<v Speaker 4>you know, create its own problems. But the brand against
<v Speaker 4>brand Maybe it's maybe it's because I'm old, you know,
<v Speaker 4>and I'm more of a traditional but I'd rather see
<v Speaker 4>it go back to its original format.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, I would too. It feels too gimmick.
<v Speaker 1>You know, Survicory should be able to stand on its
<v Speaker 1>own two legs, but just based on the lineage that
<v Speaker 1>it has and the history, to me, Survivors series would
<v Speaker 1>be just fine without creating a gimmick. To me, a
<v Speaker 1>gimmick actually takes away from what Sarvivior series used to mean.
<v Speaker 1>But uh, same, It seems like you and I are
<v Speaker 1>on that same wavelength there. But let's let's before we
<v Speaker 1>get to smack down this week, let's talk about Crown
<v Speaker 1>Jewel a little bit. Obviously we haven't spoken about Crown Jewel,
<v Speaker 1>or at least I haven't heard your thoughts. You've heard mine.
<v Speaker 1>But Crown Jewel as a whole. You know, how did
<v Speaker 1>you view the pay per view? Thumbs up, thumbs down,
<v Speaker 1>thumbs in the middle. Where would you rate this pay
<v Speaker 1>per view?
<v Speaker 4>I would have to say thumb between middle and up
<v Speaker 4>because I have actually flown not to Dubai, but I
<v Speaker 4>have flown somewhat that distance, and I did not have
<v Speaker 4>to perform to a high level. I did not have
<v Speaker 4>to do interviews and be polite to people that I
<v Speaker 4>didn't understand in some cases, and and you know, and
<v Speaker 4>and it's it's it would be a totally different world
<v Speaker 4>to go. I've traveled a lot, but to go in
<v Speaker 4>that area of the country or in that area of
<v Speaker 4>the world is is different. And it's beautiful. It is
<v Speaker 4>absolutely beautiful from what I've seen. But to travel that
<v Speaker 4>far perform, I think they did really good. I was
<v Speaker 4>a little you know, some of the things are are
<v Speaker 4>a little different, you know, but it is what it is,
<v Speaker 4>and I think overall everybody did pretty good. They even
<v Speaker 4>made Goldberg look halfway, you know, so you know, there
<v Speaker 4>we go from there.
<v Speaker 3>It's funny you mentioned Goldberg.
<v Speaker 1>You know that I did say that in my review
<v Speaker 1>that this might have been Goldberg's best match in w
<v Speaker 1>w E since he returned, and they really, I think
<v Speaker 1>took everything that didn't work with Summer at Summer Slim
<v Speaker 1>of Bobby Lashley and himself and hid the weaknesses of
<v Speaker 1>Goldberg to the best of his ability of their ability,
<v Speaker 1>and they did make Goldwork look halfway decent in a
<v Speaker 1>match that he has a limited move set of jackhammer
<v Speaker 1>spear that's essentially the breadth of his arsenal. And beyond that, though,
<v Speaker 1>I gotta ask, what did you think about the Hell
<v Speaker 1>and a Cell match between Edge and Seth rawlins.
<v Speaker 4>Well, that is always going to be a good match.
<v Speaker 4>You could put them in a parking lot, you could
<v Speaker 4>put them in any setting, and I think they would
<v Speaker 4>put on a A plus match. I do think, you know,
<v Speaker 4>if they're again to have to go back to the
<v Speaker 4>travel and everything, it's it's really hard to put on
<v Speaker 4>something like they did. You know, Seth is to me
<v Speaker 4>probably going to be better than Shawn Michaels back in
<v Speaker 4>the day if he continues on. He's not there yet,
<v Speaker 4>but I think he can be. But he's he's up
<v Speaker 4>there and Edge is Edge. So but the match I
<v Speaker 4>thought was really good. I was really disappointed not only
<v Speaker 4>in this match, but in all the matches, the time
<v Speaker 4>in ring. All right, I've just come from watching some
<v Speaker 4>other matches and then I watch a lot of older wrestling,
<v Speaker 4>and there's a lot of thirty minute, one hour Ironman
<v Speaker 4>Marathon matches. In my day, I don't think they all
<v Speaker 4>the wrestling and all the matches together added up to
<v Speaker 4>forty five minutes in ring. So it was a little
<v Speaker 4>disappointed that way.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, no, I hear you, And especially if you're looking
<v Speaker 1>at it through the lens of watching an older show.
<v Speaker 1>I mean, the focus was more on in ring back then.
<v Speaker 1>It wasn't so much of the flashy entertainment stuff that
<v Speaker 1>it is now and the video packages and on and
<v Speaker 1>the mic stuff and all of the side show things
<v Speaker 1>that really lead into inside the ring, and it's it's
<v Speaker 1>just a completely different product now. Even then it was
<v Speaker 1>just say, fifteen twenty years ago, it feels different, and
<v Speaker 1>especially from the timeframe that you're looking back at it,
<v Speaker 1>as it's a completely different time. And you know, today
<v Speaker 1>I couldn't imagine WWE doing like a sixty minute Broadway,
<v Speaker 1>meaning like a ends and draw. I know, you know that,
<v Speaker 1>But for those that may not know that's that's what
<v Speaker 1>they called a sixty minute tie or draw was a
<v Speaker 1>broadway back in those days. And I get mail, big deal,
<v Speaker 1>huge deal, and I just today's audience I don't think
<v Speaker 1>has the patience for it, nor do I think WWE
<v Speaker 1>believes they have the confidence in whatever rivalry they're putting
<v Speaker 1>together to have a sixty minute draw.
<v Speaker 3>Or or even a victor or and somebody losing that match.
<v Speaker 1>So yeah, it's a totally different product. And that's that's
<v Speaker 1>what's great. That's why I was so excited about bringing
<v Speaker 1>you on, because you have this this knowledge of watching
<v Speaker 1>back in what the seventies, right, seventies and eighties is
<v Speaker 1>the time frame?
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, absolutely, the early seventies. But can I add one
<v Speaker 4>quick point? Yeah, do you know how hard it would
<v Speaker 4>be to do a sixty minute match with two people
<v Speaker 4>that have to sell their face?
<v Speaker 7>I mean like literally sell model, sell their face.
<v Speaker 4>They can't get busted open, they can't get and of
<v Speaker 4>course ww is handcuffed a lot of good wrestlers. I
<v Speaker 4>think there's some people on their roster that would do
<v Speaker 4>a good sixty minute match, but they're handcuffed and they're
<v Speaker 4>not going to let them show a little bit of
<v Speaker 4>that that ketchup, a little bit of that blood. And
<v Speaker 4>I'm sorry, I just I missed that. I miss it.
<v Speaker 7>I'm sorry.
<v Speaker 1>No, I'm I'm right there with you with the blood.
<v Speaker 1>And people sometimes kind of look down upon that kind
<v Speaker 1>of thing. Even Vince McMahon stuck his nose in the
<v Speaker 1>air about AW, calling them the blood and Guts company,
<v Speaker 1>And I'm thinking, that's what this company, this is what
<v Speaker 1>this genre was.
<v Speaker 3>Built on with. Absolutely, that's that's the foundation of this business.
<v Speaker 1>That's how you made billions of dollars in the late
<v Speaker 1>nineties early two thousands was being that product. So for
<v Speaker 1>him to talk about AW that way a number of
<v Speaker 1>months ago was a bit hypocritical, to say the very least.
<v Speaker 1>And you know, but nonetheless I missed that blood. I do,
<v Speaker 1>And I understand why it's PG. Apparently blood is not
<v Speaker 1>captured in PG. And when it happens accidentally, you see
<v Speaker 1>the camera shy away from it. You see the talent
<v Speaker 1>in the ring put their face or whatever part of
<v Speaker 1>their body it has blood on it away from the hardcam.
<v Speaker 1>They do everything they can to hide it. And I'm like, no,
<v Speaker 1>that's a gift. That's a gift from the wrestling gods
<v Speaker 1>just just embrace it. But I know they can't. They
<v Speaker 1>have sponsors, it's a PG product, all these things, all
<v Speaker 1>this red tape they have to go through, and and
<v Speaker 1>stakeholders and shareholders that they have to adhere to. Now
<v Speaker 1>I understand why they don't. But man, especially in this
<v Speaker 1>match with edge and seth rollins, when you don't have
<v Speaker 1>blood at all and you have this metal structure, this
<v Speaker 1>two ton metal structure that you can use as a weapon,
<v Speaker 1>it's nothing more than a match that they have this
<v Speaker 1>it's essentially a street fight with a cage around It's
<v Speaker 1>it's not used properly. It's not used in the way
<v Speaker 1>that it was intended. And and I know blood is
<v Speaker 1>something that some people don't feel as necessary, but you
<v Speaker 1>don't remember how much drama it adds to matches when
<v Speaker 1>it's when you when you do it, it's it's awesome.
<v Speaker 7>Absolutely.
<v Speaker 4>And look, I could go back on old stories of
<v Speaker 4>the of the old guys that I know, and maybe
<v Speaker 4>one day, one day I can send you enough emails
<v Speaker 4>in to where you could put together a show of
<v Speaker 4>something like that with some of your talented people that
<v Speaker 4>you have. But leaving that era or trying to discredit
<v Speaker 4>or forget where you came from, you're.
<v Speaker 7>Damned to repeat it.
<v Speaker 4>So if Peacock or somebody was to do something big
<v Speaker 4>and buy, you know, you just never know. I just
<v Speaker 4>never know.

<v Speaker 1>and Roman that happened at Crown Jewel, I thought.

<v Speaker 1>because he is a proven athlete and Roland Reigns is
<v Speaker 1>in his own right, a proven commodity who is a legitimate,

<v Speaker 1>There's no bigger matchup that they could have put on
<v Speaker 1>for Crown Jewel, and I think these two delivered.

<v Speaker 1>just because Brock has been sitting on his farm and

<v Speaker 1>the best WWE has. Bianca is their rising star, probably

<v Speaker 1>how did you feel about the outcome of Becky Lynch
<v Speaker 1>using the rope? Now they said it's a triple threat,

<v Speaker 4>around an octagon. Don't think he can. And the only
<v Speaker 4>reason he got beat is because he bleeds. You know,
<v Speaker 4>he has a bad bleeding problem. And I understand that completely.
<v Speaker 4>So if he wouldn't have bled so bad, he might
<v Speaker 4>have been able to fight through his the one big
<v Speaker 4>match that he lost that kind of set him back

<v Speaker 4>But I think Brock's making a great decision. I enjoyed
<v Speaker 4>the match. I do agree that he probably did not
<v Speaker 4>want to go. But if you look at last year's
<v Speaker 4>picture of him at in Saudi Arabia, he looked fairly happy.
<v Speaker 4>And if you paid me enough money, and I was
<v Speaker 4>sitting on a nice comfortable chair, and you know, they
<v Speaker 4>they gave him that amusement park for a day. They
<v Speaker 4>just built Saudi Arabia just built an amusement park on
<v Speaker 4>an old rig out there, supposed to be one of
<v Speaker 4>the fanciest one. All the wrestlers got to go that
<v Speaker 4>wanted to, I guess are the ones that took the
<v Speaker 4>photo ops did. But that's a pretty nice kind of
<v Speaker 4>gig to go make me a million dollars or whatever
<v Speaker 4>and uh and go throw a guy around for a
<v Speaker 4>few minutes, sign some autographs and have a bunch of
<v Speaker 4>rich people dote over me. Where do I sign up? Yeah?

<v Speaker 1>And the thing is with Brock, most of his appearances
<v Speaker 1>don't involve him taking any bumps like he I.

<v Speaker 1>usually big pay per views, and you know, even then
<v Speaker 1>he's not He's not exactly killing himself.

<v Speaker 1>the Brock doesn't. I don't think he wants to do

<v Speaker 1>doesn't have to always just be in a ring performer

<v Speaker 1>who's what he's doing with his money. I'm sure he's
<v Speaker 1>too smart with it and making investments and doing things.
<v Speaker 1>So Brock is one hundred percent fine obviously financially, and.

<v Speaker 1>on his very first night on SmackDown.

<v Speaker 1>This is just kind of a placeholder for Drew given
<v Speaker 1>that we all know it's eventually going to be him

<v Speaker 4>Well, first of all, when Zain came out, he actually
<v Speaker 4>came out to what was the gentleman's name. It was
<v Speaker 4>the start of his Scottie too Hottie back in the day.

<v Speaker 4>go back and listen to both of them, same beat,
<v Speaker 4>same everything, same producer had to be Anyway, Drew is like, uh,
<v Speaker 4>I'm looking at it at Drew is almost like when
<v Speaker 4>the airport's full and they've got to get all the
<v Speaker 4>jets to the to the to the airport there and

<v Speaker 1>much more receptive to him this week than they have
<v Speaker 1>been in many months. They and I feel like that's
<v Speaker 1>a good thing because he's got a fresh start. He's
<v Speaker 1>not in the title picture right away. He was in
<v Speaker 1>it for way too long and the fans started to
<v Speaker 1>resent him for it, and now he's he's got a
<v Speaker 1>fresh start, and that's good. But you're right, there's something
<v Speaker 1>about Drew. I think that that's I don't know if
<v Speaker 1>it's stale or something missing or both. And it's not
<v Speaker 1>a lot. It's not like Drew is this completely unpolished performer,
<v Speaker 1>these missing major areas. No, I mean he has not
<v Speaker 1>had a bad match yet. This guy consistently puts on
<v Speaker 1>very good matches. He's got a million dollar body, he's
<v Speaker 1>got the look, he's got the experience. Like you said,
<v Speaker 1>he's got the story of the you know, I was
<v Speaker 1>the chosen one. I left a boy and came back
<v Speaker 1>a man. A lot of truth in that, and that's
<v Speaker 1>not the problem with Drew. But it does feel like
<v Speaker 1>it maybe it is something that's missing or needs to
<v Speaker 1>evolve from Drew. He got good, good enough promos. I
<v Speaker 1>have no problem with that, good to excellent promos at times.
<v Speaker 1>But there is something missing. And I think he recognizes
<v Speaker 1>that because on Raw, as you may remember, he was
<v Speaker 1>telling these weird war stories that had nothing to do
<v Speaker 1>with anything. He was just trying new stuff. And I
<v Speaker 1>think he's smart enough to recognize that, Hey, I need
<v Speaker 1>to do something different. I need to add a quirk
<v Speaker 1>to my to my to my story or to my
<v Speaker 1>to my character. I think maybe that was an attempt
<v Speaker 1>to do that. I think it was a massive failure.
<v Speaker 3>It was bad. I was ranting about it for weeks.
<v Speaker 3>It was terrible.
<v Speaker 1>But he I appreciate the effort, the recognition that I
<v Speaker 1>need to do something. Yeah, there is something, and I
<v Speaker 1>don't think it's like, all turnham heel. I think it's
<v Speaker 1>a bad move right now because of the Roman rings.
<v Speaker 1>You don't want to turn him heel. I know that
<v Speaker 1>Drew as a heel is fun, but that's unfortunately you're
<v Speaker 1>not in a position to do that. I just think

<v Speaker 1>I think that is exactly where they are with Drew.
<v Speaker 1>They're not in a dangerous place. I mean, if they
<v Speaker 1>keep him where he is, he would still be fine.
<v Speaker 1>But I don't think that if he went after a
<v Speaker 1>championship with this current character that fans will get fully
<v Speaker 1>behind him again. There does need to be that moment,
<v Speaker 1>the moment you're talking about with Stone Cold. The thing
<v Speaker 1>with that is that was an organic moment that wasn't
<v Speaker 1>a planned moment, that wasn't in the script. It was
<v Speaker 1>something that Austin was told right before he went up
<v Speaker 1>about what Jake the Snake Roberts said about him, and
<v Speaker 1>he came up with that on the spot. So though
<v Speaker 1>those are like those are so rare, but they can happen.
<v Speaker 1>Those are very difficult to produce on a piece of paper,
<v Speaker 1>and I don't think it will come from a piece
<v Speaker 1>of paper. If it happens, it'll happen organically. The problem
<v Speaker 1>with today's product, though, is it's so micromanaged with everything
<v Speaker 1>that's said and done, that it's hard to go off script,
<v Speaker 1>or if you do, you better be one hundred percent
<v Speaker 1>sure that it's going to work. So I think that
<v Speaker 1>you have an environment that is hindering talent from going
<v Speaker 1>out on a limb and potentially doing something awesome because
<v Speaker 1>the environment that's been created is so micromanaged and it's
<v Speaker 1>looked down upon and you get your handslapped or find
<v Speaker 1>if you go off script.
<v Speaker 3>So that I think is.
<v Speaker 1>Also the problem is the current environment that is cultivated
<v Speaker 1>over in WWE.
<v Speaker 4>I'm actually I'm not technology advanced as most of your
<v Speaker 4>listeners are. I'm looking on my iPhone to try to

<v Speaker 4>I totally agree they should be applauded. And look, there

<v Speaker 1>others that led the firings, you know, I think that
<v Speaker 1>that has created a lot of fear and talent that
<v Speaker 1>oh yeah, well, now I'm definitely not going to go
<v Speaker 1>out on a limb. Look what they've did to so
<v Speaker 1>and so, you know, and this person and that person.
<v Speaker 1>So when you're living in fear of your job, I
<v Speaker 1>think you're not going to take any risks on top
<v Speaker 1>of creating just a stressful environment as it is.

<v Speaker 1>So unfortunately I don't see a lot of people going
<v Speaker 1>going out on the limb. But if you're going to
<v Speaker 1>do it, if you're going to allow a talent to
<v Speaker 1>do and have that liberty, you're gonna have to have

<v Speaker 1>be able to do that give them a little bit
<v Speaker 1>more leeway and let them have a little bit more

<v Speaker 1>opposite problem where they just let talent say whatever they want,

<v Speaker 4>have started watching wrestling because so I think it's an
<v Speaker 4>extremely genius I did on Vince. On that end, they
<v Speaker 4>need to do something, of course with the character. I mean,
<v Speaker 4>because they are Both of these guys are really good,
<v Speaker 4>you know, and not everybody is born into a six
<v Speaker 4>to six frame that can flip around and do backflips,
<v Speaker 4>you know. So these guys are really good, and hey,
<v Speaker 4>you're going after demographics worldwide, and I'm been a businessman
<v Speaker 4>all my life, and you give people what they want.

<v Speaker 4>believe if my timeframe is right, so Vince may have
<v Speaker 4>been been like, Hey, we're not going to have this
<v Speaker 4>incidents happen. You're not We're not going to you know
<v Speaker 4>what I mean, We're not going to give you Cardy blanche.

<v Speaker 4>Give you that because of that being so fresh, I mean,
<v Speaker 4>just you know, just a point down then it could

<v Speaker 1>At the same time, though, AEW's culture is different than

<v Speaker 1>had Happy Corbin defeat Shinsky Nakamura. After End of Days,
<v Speaker 1>of course, we had Mad Cat Moss and Rick Booze
<v Speaker 1>get briefly involved. This to me, I'll just briefly say, look,
<v Speaker 1>Happy Corbyn. I think he was better as the disheveled
<v Speaker 1>poor mess like that was. There was to me so
<v Speaker 1>much more left to do, and I was finding so entertaining.
<v Speaker 1>I loved the poor version of habit of Baron Corbin
<v Speaker 1>more than I do this version.
<v Speaker 3>To me, it's easy to get him back there if.
<v Speaker 1>You ever wanted to, by you know, someone bringing up
<v Speaker 1>the fact that he you know, there's felony tax evasion,
<v Speaker 1>he never paid taxes on all the winnings from Vegas
<v Speaker 1>wherever he want.

<v Speaker 1>But that this match I think made Shinske look like
<v Speaker 1>an idiot. And the reason is he was distracted by
<v Speaker 1>by what Rick Boogs and Mad Cat Moss having a

<v Speaker 1>yourself in just two guys talking on the outside, which
<v Speaker 1>obviously allowed Baron Corbin to take advantage hit End of
<v Speaker 1>Days and Happy Corbin continues his winning streak.

<v Speaker 4>Well, one thing I have to say, to have a
<v Speaker 4>Japanese wrestler come over here with his size and his
<v Speaker 4>ability and to steal him away from New Japan or whoever.
<v Speaker 4>I'm not sure who he was with before WWE, but
<v Speaker 4>he is a prize. He is a draw. He is
<v Speaker 4>a wonderful talent. The guitar player can hit a high note,
<v Speaker 4>has some biceps and some pecs, and can play guitar.
<v Speaker 4>I'm still out on him as far as the happy
<v Speaker 4>guys outside there. Look, this whole thing is really just
<v Speaker 4>like the character. It's kind of a joke. I don't
<v Speaker 4>like any of the way they're doing it.

<v Speaker 4>I hate to bring it back, but it's to my
<v Speaker 4>old school. I want some believability. I want to know, Hey,
<v Speaker 4>if he ted d b OSSI came out and said

<v Speaker 4>hated him for it. This kid comes out talented, big

<v Speaker 1>The problem with that is I think WWE has put
<v Speaker 1>realistic storylines below the entertainment or comedy segments that Vince
<v Speaker 1>for some reason elevates above all else at times. I mean,
<v Speaker 1>the problem is that Vince sees a little bit of
<v Speaker 1>comedy and any in a character, he will take that
<v Speaker 1>and make that their identity. He did that with Otis
<v Speaker 1>among others, where he just if he sees you being
<v Speaker 1>funny and he laughs at your joke, That's the last
<v Speaker 1>thing I would do if I was if I was
<v Speaker 1>a talent perspective talent for w WE, and I had
<v Speaker 1>an interview with Vince, the last thing I would do
<v Speaker 1>is try to make him laugh, because if he's like
<v Speaker 1>I would, I would make him feel like yeah, yeah.
<v Speaker 1>The last thing I want to do is is want
<v Speaker 1>him to think that I'm a funny guy, because then
<v Speaker 1>guess what's gonna happen when he tries to figure out
<v Speaker 1>what kind of character I should be. He's gonna try
<v Speaker 1>to look at me as a comedy, as a comedy
<v Speaker 1>break or or some kind of character that can't be
<v Speaker 1>taken seriously. Like I mean, He's done it with so
<v Speaker 1>many things that shouldn't be funny like Baron kre or
<v Speaker 1>Happy Corbin.
<v Speaker 3>He I mean, Biggie, the whole New Day gimmick is.
<v Speaker 1>Is just bathed in his perception of comedy. And Vince
<v Speaker 1>McMahon has always, I think, had a really bad sense
<v Speaker 1>of humor. Like I always of the belief that the
<v Speaker 1>part of his brain that controls the evolution of comedy
<v Speaker 1>and what has perceived as funny froze at the age
<v Speaker 1>of fourteen. Like he for some reason just has not
<v Speaker 1>grown out of a very sophomoric sense of humor. And
<v Speaker 1>it's it shows very transparently that shows.
<v Speaker 4>Do you think he still thinks or wants to be
<v Speaker 4>that guy, that wrestler that he grew up watching.
<v Speaker 1>Oh yeah, oh very much, so, very very much so

<v Speaker 1>In two thousand and five Royal Rumble when John Cena
<v Speaker 1>and Batista accidentally eliminated each other at the exact same

<v Speaker 1>quads getting into the ring. I mean, he hit both
<v Speaker 1>of his legs and he when he tries to get
<v Speaker 1>up and his legs collapse from underneath him. It's one
<v Speaker 1>of the funniest moment. He has to sit there like
<v Speaker 1>a child and tell everybody like anybody hasn't seen it.
<v Speaker 1>It wasn't supposed to be funny. That was hilarious when
<v Speaker 1>Vince tore both his quads. And I'm not I'm not
<v Speaker 1>speaking ill of like watching finding it somebody's injuries funny,
<v Speaker 1>but yeah, you know, yeah so anyway.
<v Speaker 4>But I mean, it takes a lot of machiesma to
<v Speaker 4>walk out the way he does. That That walks created

<v Speaker 1>Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair exchange their championships from Raw
<v Speaker 1>to SmackDown and SmackDown to raw. Why this needed to
<v Speaker 1>be an event or the main event of the show,
<v Speaker 1>I don't understand. Given they were they told us that
<v Speaker 1>the draft went into effect the day after the pay
<v Speaker 1>per view, which was October twenty second or whatever it was. Uh,
<v Speaker 1>and all of a sudden, they need to make Becky
<v Speaker 1>Lynch come to SmackDown. She doesn't belong there anymore. They
<v Speaker 1>could have done it on Twitter. They could have done it,
<v Speaker 1>you know, have you know whatever they could have just
<v Speaker 1>had after the show. Hey, here's my wrong championship here.
<v Speaker 1>I want my SmackDown because now I'm a SmackDown employee.
<v Speaker 1>But they had to make this a big thing, a
<v Speaker 1>title exchange, and I didn't understand it. I'm big fans
<v Speaker 1>of Becky and Charlotte both, but it was weird that
<v Speaker 1>they had to make it a whole thing. Nonetheless, it
<v Speaker 1>was interrupted by Sasha Banks, who ended up knocking down Charlotte,
<v Speaker 1>and that's pretty much where it ended. Was just kind
<v Speaker 1>of a brawl after Becky Lynch said Okay, I'm heading
<v Speaker 1>to Ras see you later. So it looks like Becky,
<v Speaker 1>or rather Charlotte and Sasha are the next Sasha is
<v Speaker 1>the next challenger for that SmackDown Women's Championship.
<v Speaker 3>What'd you think about this segment?
<v Speaker 4>Well, there again we go back to Sasha being that good,
<v Speaker 4>little kind of rat that kind of sneaks in and
<v Speaker 4>does the dirty work and then does the dance afterwards
<v Speaker 4>and gets to leave on the cameras shot at the
<v Speaker 4>end of the commercial, which.
<v Speaker 7>Is great, Which is great, I do.
<v Speaker 4>I don't know if you had a chance to see
<v Speaker 4>the actual print out of how that was supposed to
<v Speaker 4>go down from the WWE, but it definitely did not
<v Speaker 4>go down to script, and Charlotte was definitely not on
<v Speaker 4>board with the way this was going down because she
<v Speaker 4>felt like she was going to appear weak in this
<v Speaker 4>situation and she would not let her character appear that way, which, hey,
<v Speaker 4>she's fighting, I mean, that's her brand, so she is
<v Speaker 4>not going to let And if some of the writing
<v Speaker 4>that I've seen, I have to add I can understand
<v Speaker 4>why a veteran of the game would be very reluctant
<v Speaker 4>on how some writing is going towards their character. So
<v Speaker 4>I definitely understand that. And they kind of built it
<v Speaker 4>the Sasha and the Charlotte ongoing rivalry and I can
<v Speaker 4>definitely say that, but I think that could have done
<v Speaker 4>a little bit more with the Becky side of it.
<v Speaker 7>But you know, maybe they gave us just enough.
<v Speaker 4>I mean, sometimes, you know, having access to a full
<v Speaker 4>buffet isn't good. Sometimes you just need to have what
<v Speaker 4>you need to eat, and maybe they're gonna feed us
<v Speaker 4>something a little bit later. I'm hoping. I'm trusting in.
<v Speaker 1>The past, Well, you got Survivor series, because Becky Lynch
<v Speaker 1>will more than likely be facing Charlotte Flair at Survivor
<v Speaker 1>series or maybe some kind of triple threat again, so
<v Speaker 1>we will get that crossover between Raw and SmackDown that
<v Speaker 1>they tell us every year is the only time that's
<v Speaker 1>mack Don Rogo's head to head, which is a bold
<v Speaker 1>face a lie, and I can give a chapter a
<v Speaker 1>verse of how and why that is not true and
<v Speaker 1>it's just a flat out lie. But you will you
<v Speaker 1>likely get your your wish. I don't see a scenario
<v Speaker 1>in which Becky Lynch doesn't involve for the next pay

<v Speaker 1>that are just like you got really invested emotionally, or
<v Speaker 1>you just some of the moments you're like, man, this
<v Speaker 1>is why I am a wrestling fan, this is why

<v Speaker 4>Well I can I can say this to to go
<v Speaker 4>back to when Stone Cold came out his first times
<v Speaker 4>as three sixteen, that was that was just freaking awesome.
<v Speaker 7>And then me, of course, being.
<v Speaker 4>Around a lot of the wrestlers growing up, I kind
<v Speaker 4>of really got invested in a lot of their matches.
<v Speaker 4>I mean, I mean I had guys like Sid Vicious
<v Speaker 4>back in the day, and of course Lawlor and Jerry
<v Speaker 4>or Jeff Jarrett and Jerry Jared's father, and and the
<v Speaker 4>Tupelo Concessions match like I'm in before. And then then
<v Speaker 4>I saw the first time a woman got her hair shaved,
<v Speaker 4>I mean bald shaved. Here we had I think in
<v Speaker 4>Memphis we had three or four women that got their
<v Speaker 4>hair shaved, which was unheard of.
<v Speaker 7>And just seeing the involvement of.
<v Speaker 4>How it's gotten from guys that weren't athletically compared to
<v Speaker 4>these guys today. These guys today are adonicius man. They
<v Speaker 4>are they sleep, eat and train man, and back in
<v Speaker 4>the day, just from my business, they did not do that.
<v Speaker 7>They did not do that.
<v Speaker 4>So that there's a lot of difference there.
<v Speaker 7>It's kind of like it's.
<v Speaker 4>Kind of hard for me to have a favorite sports
<v Speaker 4>team because I'm I have so many young athletes that
<v Speaker 4>I get involved with and they go to different teams,
<v Speaker 4>So it's really hard. That's a hard question to ask,
<v Speaker 4>But as far as as that goes, but I will
<v Speaker 4>I will say this one particular match and that was
<v Speaker 4>the fabulous free Birds back in the day. Going against
<v Speaker 4>the Von Erics was some of the best wrestling that
<v Speaker 4>you could see. Uh those guys out of the Uh
<v Speaker 4>the Arenas in Texas would have to be driven to
<v Speaker 4>their hotels and change cars and then go to their
<v Speaker 4>actual hotel. That's how much they were over. You know,
<v Speaker 4>it is what it is. I love today's wrestling, I
<v Speaker 4>love it to death, but there's nothing like the past.
<v Speaker 4>And I really enjoy your show. I really enjoy all this.
<v Speaker 4>And did did you say you had one more question? No?
<v Speaker 1>That was I mean I could go on and on
<v Speaker 1>about questions. I mean with your with your wrestling history
<v Speaker 1>and knowledge like that, that could be a separate show.
<v Speaker 1>I was just curious about your just some of the
<v Speaker 1>moments that you're just like, man, that that is that's
<v Speaker 1>good stuff, right like that is like you're e mostly invested.
<v Speaker 1>It's what draws you to the product. And I'm just
<v Speaker 1>curious it's a some of some of those moments that
<v Speaker 1>did that. And you talk about talent being driven to
<v Speaker 1>hotels and having to change cars like that is when
<v Speaker 1>the heel heat was the drill heel heat, right like
<v Speaker 1>you you sometimes like probably feared for your life as
<v Speaker 1>we were really over as a heel.
<v Speaker 4>So I have walked a wrestler from the ring and
<v Speaker 4>had so much stuff thrown on my head just trying
<v Speaker 4>to cover his head up to get back there. And
<v Speaker 4>and you know, yes it was for real back then.
<v Speaker 4>So but yeah, guys, really enjoy the show. Man. Hope
<v Speaker 4>to get a chance to do this again. And and
<v Speaker 4>all the other people you have on your podcast are fantastic.

<v Speaker 1>little too young. But if you're able to bring your
<v Speaker 1>kids to an event, yeah, it's a great place to
<v Speaker 1>not only watch the watch the show and keep up
<v Speaker 1>with it. But bomb with your kids over wrestling and
<v Speaker 1>make them a fan for life. So that's a that's
