Hey, everybody, Welcome to four Finger Discount. I am Dana. Thank you so much for tuning into the show this week, because this week we are celebrating our ninth anniversary. That's right, for the last nine years we've been speaking, you've been listening at supporting our show, and we thank you so much for it. We wouldn't be here without you. And I thought, as a bit of a special treat this week, rather than do a season nineteen review, because we know how much we love season nineteen episodes, we thought what we would do guy, Now we had little little business meeting. We've got Mitch on on the line as well, a bit of a three way conversation. We thought, how how can we reward these guys, and we thought, you know what we'll do. We'll give them a freebie that we usually have exclusively on our patreons. So this was recorded back on April twenty eighth, twenty twenty two. It is our review of the PTA dispands and all timer of an episode. And I'm just reading the description here on our Patreon says here the finger thing means the taxes. So many classic moments come from this episode. Some we've actually some we've actually forgotten about we're actually in this one. On top of the review, we discussed fish finger commercials, Chinese whispers, as well as whether or not it's good to be paddled. And I'm written a comment here from one of our patrons who says, oh, I love Elliott cameos. So the fact that this was recorded in April or twenty twenty two, that means he was three turning four? Is that right? Three? Yeah, it was three turning four when this is recorded. I've gone back and be listened to it. I'm assuming Elliot must make a cameo in this episode. I'm not sure we're actually speaking words yet, but we shall soon find out when you listen to the show. But as I said, nine years of you guys supporting us here at four fing your discount. Thank you so much. It means the world to me that back back in twenty twenty two, I was able to quit my job and turn this into my career, and you guys are the reason I was able to do that. So I know I've say this time and time again, but you guys are the real backbone of this show. We love doing it, but without you guys supporting us each and every week that I couldn't justify it being my sole source of income, So thank you again. It truly means the world to me. And if you do enjoy this review, you can find so many more of these exclusive classic reviews available on our Patreon now. As well as Talking Seinfeld, the and four onwards, we've got Speaking of the Hill season two onwards on there as well, and every episode of not only Tales of Futurama we're currently in season three of Futurama, but also the movie Guys, and Mitch's returned to the fore Fingure Discount Network to help us out with the Movie Guys' reviews as well. We let the patrons deside which movie we review and then we review it. And this month we're doing American Pie. So that was a lot of fun. But again, thank you so much for your support. Nine strong years. Let's bring on another nine going forward as well. But I hope you enjoy our review the Special Guy on Springfield review of the PTA Dispands, and next week we shall be back with our regular programming. Enjoy How can I return to Bedlin looking out the window to Bedlin, staring at my handled. It's a Bedlin Bedland School Canoe. Oh, you better believe they're to Bedlin. Four Finger Discount. Ye, it is time for the fourth Finger Discount. Pete Guion Exclusive four Fingered Discount Revisited Classic. What a long title this podcast has. It's We've gone back all the way to season six. I was actually surprised that this was all the way back in season six. I always saw this wasecond season seven eight episode, But nope, it's the twenty first episode of the sixth season. Simpsons episode two f nineteen with Pta dispands, I'm Dando, I'm guy. How are you so? Just to be here? Did doing all right? We're recording this a little late in the evening on a Thursday night, but happy to do so because this is an episode I'm happy to talk about. Yes, I'm just giving you guys a heads up right now. All your patron's out there. I can hear Shenanigan's going out in that whole way out there with Elliott and Nikola. It's Elliott's bed time, but it's past his bedtime, which means he's passed the point of no, a term which means he doesn't want to go to bed. He needs to go to be because he's fucking tired. So I'm expecting either to be called into that next room to rob his back to go to sleep, or he's going to come in here and have a cuddle. And he come in here for a cuddle, you can say hello to him. We can get some Guy and Guy Ellier time once again here on the Patreon exclusive. So if you can need some scream in the background, I do apologize. But first of all, thank you so much. Guys. If you are hearing this, obviously you're an eight dollars plus patron and we love you for doing so and supporting the show. But yes, the PTA dispands a really good episode. Hey, mister Davis, A very good episode. And before we begin that, why do you never come over to my place when I'm tired and I want a backgroun? Oh? I can if you want to. Actually, no, we bet that would be pushing the boundaries. I'm a good episode, a fun episode, a very meme heavy episode. Yeah, definitely. This was an episode that I tended to not avoid as a kid, but just never really appreciate it as much as I should have. And the older I got them more, I went, oh, now I understand what taxes are the taxes? Yeah, that's segment spoiler. That's my favorite bit. It's fucking amazing that the crowd, the crowd banter as they're discussing it. Oh so great, that's that's about the money. But the tax the taxes. The finger thing means the taxes. So that was very good. But you're right, it's a very I mean, there's a lot of kids stuff in it, but it feels like a very It feels like a more grown up episode, even though definitely we don't we don't have a lot of Homer and margin no, no. But what I like about it is, and I tend to like these episodes and gravitate towards them, is the ones I've mentioned this before where they include the entire Springfield community and we get a good mixture of characters here that you don't normally see in random episode in every day episodes. So you're getting jasper with that. That's a paddlin and I for some reason, I thought this was the one where really does the bonjour you chee it in Surrender Monkeys, But no it's not. But yeah, it's just skinner and crabapple. This is one of the first episodes that we really got a spotlight Besides, I think like Butt the Lover, there's only a couple episodes before this where we've got a spotlight on missus K. I thought this was a great missus K episode. It really was, wasn't it. Yeah. I mean I like the dynamic between the two of these, Between between Skinner and Kububble. I think they just they play off each other so well. They're a lot more alike than not that neither would care to admit, but circumstances tend to put them at either, you know, other opposite sides of a conflict. Where they finally do hookup work so well because it's because kind of like they know it's been here the whole time, it's right in front of our eyes. Come. So yeah, I very much enjoyed just the dynamic of that. I like that you've got to see both sides of their argument. I mean, it's not like Skinner's just a penny pincher or easy pocketing dough for himself. He maybe who knows, but you know, he's like, no, I've got I'm doing the best I came with what I've got to work with. Here and Edna's like, that's not good enough. So yeah, I can see both sides of this argument. Yeah, he actually if he had more money, he would use it properly, but he has no fun. But I also like how we got to see the results of having no teachers in Springfiel, where the kids are constantly on holiday just being at the arcade, and just eventually they realize, wait a minute, we need school. Yeah, we need that structure, we need to be learning stuff other you know, you end up with you know, the rist of an eighty year old, or you know, hooked on soaps, yeah, or fine kites in the middle of the night. It's one of those things where you don't realize until you finish school how much you need school and how great it is to just have that every day. I know you don't you're going to want to go, but every day you get to see your friends. You know, you have to learn and things like that. But the social aspect, as soon as school's over, you go, oh, wait a minute, Now I've got a plan to meet up with my friends. What Yeah, oh wait a minute, I'm going to be thrust into a whole new environment where I've got to interact with people and I don't know, find out about who they are and you know, whether I like them, how to make them like me. Yeah, that ended that part of the end of the school year where you were stressing out making sure that your friends were going to be in your class the following year, and in that feeling of seeing them on the list, you're like, yeah, we're doing the same class. Its gonna be the best year ever. And that it's just you know form two, Yes, exactly right, Yes, but yeah, all around, this was just, as you said, very meme heavy. There are a lot of moments, and I forgot that my quote most quoted Simpson's quote line of my teenage years was purple Monkey dishwasher and my first ever email was purple Monkey dishwasher underscore eighty nine at hotmail dot com do a un. I was very annoyed that eighty eight people beat me to that email. Yeah, proper monkey dishwasher. I loved it. That just strikes me as quintessentially young Dan do At and particularly the dawn of the Internet, as well as like, did anyone actually use the real name for an email address like this? It was gonna be like CB radio. I might as well just call myself rubber ducky as as we as we said, we've got we've got ali in a studio to come and say hello, uncle guy, come over here, then come over come sit on daddy's lap. I'm gonna look like a ghost here, hang weird lights on o O Elliot, Elliott, Hello, Bud? How you doing? Hm? Hm? Oh that was very nice, very nice to hear from you. Hello, Bud? Are you very sleepy? Are you very tired? I think I want to go to bed now? Time to go to bed. Time to no nice b e d go to bed. Isn't he see you? Buddy? Uncle guy silly? Isn't he? Elliott? Why is he silly? Because he is? Isn't he? Can he look at him? Look at him? Silly? Are you getting no nice now? Good boy? See you buddy uncle guy silly? He says he ain't wrong. Alright, Bye bye Mommy, Bye bye Elliott. Okay, so we've got our little Alliott cameo here on the page why they pay the big Bucks Get the Alley exclusives here on the four Finger Discount podcast. So, yeah, as you were discussing what were but also you know why white guy is not a parent. That's his bed bedtimes tragic, e go to bed. What were we discussing before Elliott really interrupted us very rudely about how school is a instructured educational environment but also we social environment and how you learn to make friends or be a friendly person unless you're an absolute Nordlinger. But yeah, so I think once you get out of school, I mean a lot. You've got a lot of people saying, don't tell me school's abusius, my love clearly your door. It's not that that's not necessarily as a learning side. The social site, Yeah, the social sites can be pretty fun. They also touched on a similar story to what we got in Whacking Day with bart but Millhouse because he got too he actually was learning stuff. He was actually advancing his knowledge with things, and it's like, oh wait a minute. So when you actually get taught things by a proper tutor, you actually learn. When you're surrounded by the other kids who are distracting you, you actually learn. Ah, Yes, otherwise you wind up like Barton going. They're actually very or even they're very pro homeschooling on the Simpsons, aren't they They are a bit aren't They're not fans of the public school system. But enough about that. My favorite what was your favorite moment from the pt de spands? You love saying it that way, don't you. Umm? Well, we talked about how this is meme heavy, and of course everyone knows it's a paddling. Yeah, that's a paddling as well they should. But I'm always a fan of Hello, Missus Palmer Horst like to get down. I'd like to get down now. I love that. It's just so adorable. Hold children? Have we had many episodes about Missus Hoover or miss Hoover later on we do? Yeah? Not. It strikes me. She strikes me as a fun character. I'm gonna have to get to know more about her. We got we got when she had lime disease that time, but we haven't you've got lime disease, yes, but we haven't. We haven't really had like a Miss Hoover story. Yeah. I like that. It's a wonderful life tribute or shout out that. No, it's in fradgi. What's my money doing in your house? Here? Bo? What that we do with my money? Fred? It's and a very good Jimmy Stewart impersonation. I'm assuming by Harry Dan. I was a Dan always Dan. Yeah, yeah, what was good? He does it well, he does well. But I think one of my favorite bits and just a little throwaway gag, was when Bart is making mischief on the construction site and he says to the guy and he in the crane, you spin around real fast, and the guy who's driving or operating the grane a little struggler. Yeah sounds like fun, that doesn't but just that little struggler. That's again. Yeah, a bunch of fun stuff in this, but they're the bits that I enjoyed the most. I liked the the egging on of the of missus k Skinner where they both about to walk off the cock, but just being a little shithead. But I like Bart's mischief in this. The chief was very fun. It was very nostalgic. Wasn't because we didn't really get that in season fifteen anymore? That kind of mischief. No, no, I mean the various voices that he's pulled. I mean it was funny on the construction side when the former turns out that Bart's voice, But the whole bit in the bank, it's like, what do you mean? No money? I just love all that stuff. I thought that was very enjoyable. You only got money for free world customers. I also liked when he was taking them back to their room, but back to my office. Well that's highly regular. But of course the taxes after raise taxes, oh, raise the taxes. But there was there's one voice you can hear amongst the crowd, who's just saying the funniest shit. Yeah, it's so great. Next question, you there eating the beast. All right, it is now time for trivia. Now, since this is a Patreon exclusive, I don't think the patrons really need their names read out. They know that we love them. They're eight dollar patrons plus patrons or absolute champions, So let's go love. Yes we do. We promised them that we would read them out on all future shows, so let's do it. Let's read out the patron shofts for twenty dollars patrons Andrews, Sally Kimberly, hag Scorpio, Kevin Dental, Planned Flood, Jonathan Rossi, Steamham Champion, Dylan haggartt Zach Pruett, Christopher Darby, Timothy Burlson, Joel Yoland, Jordan Moldman, Richie Katie g Daniel Kott, Nick Shannon Hofer, Jenna, Rice Reese Roberts, Adam Sanderson, George Mcmenermee, Stephen Roberts, Sean DV. Bella, Windo Bank, David Stewart, Tom Pickering, Mark Boston Burgess, Grand Skipper, Noah and Declan Phoenix twenty dollars patrons. You guys are absolute legends. Do you know what they will? All those people have in common? They're very, very sexy. All legends, Oh, legends. I haven't said yes. My first question is what is Shelbyville Elementary's motto? Oh, veritas it ciencia m h. Do you know what that stands for? What that means? It's truth in science, isn't it? Truth and knowledge? Truth and knowledge? Yeah, complaining, Well, while we're talking about Springfield Elementary, what is the name of its principal shall we Vill or Springfield she shallby Ville? It was a principal valiant, that is correct. My next question is what vitamin does milk have? It's called vitamin H correct, sure does. What was the name of the Springfield brigade that absolutely killed all those Shelbyville the Long Bearded Brigade. There's a number and some facial hair in there, have no idea. It is the ninth Bearded Infantry. Ninth bearded Infantry. Yes, and they slaughtered the people even though they're waving white flags. What what food was in Lisa's school kit that she'd prepared for herself? Apologies, guys have been here. The share in the background, Nicola just exercise in the shell good. I don't know it was cafeteria style fish sticks. Oh, fish fingers were a big hit in the downder Houseold when I was a kid, and then I got older, I went eating this ship. Do you remember that? Not even once in a while. Nah, I'm not huge on fish. But remember the Bird's Eye commercial birds eye fish fingers. That's pretty much it is. That how it went though singers a song, the song of the sea birds. That's it. That's the one. I couldn't think of it. Yes, you nailed it. I don't. I'm happy to hell. I actually, uh, I didn't have fish fingers. I maybe had the grown up version of fish fingers, which is like sticks of whiting in batter from your friends at Bird's Eye whatever, whack them in the air fry. Did I tell you that the Lovely Lays brought me an air fryer. No, but how I see, I can't work out how to use out properly. You just wax it in there and close it. But like I tried to cook chips with just like I chopped the potatoes, chuck them in, not chips from the packet, like poppered potatoes. Chop them up. Cha, they came out fucking horrendous. Really did you oil them? I mean I did put oil in it, yeah, but I must have done something wrong because they just come out really just shrive it up and not cooked properly. It's weird. Okay, Well I must admit I'm not getting chip chips like fish and chip chop chips. Yeah, but I mean I'm I'm chopping up spuds and put them in a bowl with some oil, bit of garlic. They taste, so you put oil. So you soak them in oil first, Yeah, not soaked, but sort of you know, sprinkle a bit on their toss it so they all they're a bit oily, and then you whack them in the in the airfry for about fifteen minutes, maybe longer, probably longer even I mean mine always come out a little bit. They never come out super crispy, but I like, I'm a little bit soft. Super crispy and chicken salt. That's the best way. Okay, well, but I cooked up some homemade chips, some handcut chips, and also some of those bird's eye whiting sticks in battery. Sounds good, tasty, tasty adults anyway, the adults, the grown up. Your next question. My next question, what is the name and number of the piano tuners union that is going to strike in solidarity no idea with the teachers Local four one two Local four one two as opposed to the four one one. My final question, besides the regular Springfieldians, what famous teacher that but eliminate as a substitute. He eliminated Gabe Kaplan Welcome the best themes of all time. I love that theme so just makes me so happy. Now let's I'm going to test your knowledge of this one. What time were Skinner and Krabapple locked in the office? Yes, he saw the clock. It was originally at I want to say quarter to eleven or quarter to twelve. I think it was actually eleven o'clock. Damn, damn. I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure it was eleven o'clock and then it went. They were there for like three or four hour few hours, yeah, several hours? Yeah? Okay, yeah, there you go. And you got any more questions before we head into our review, I could give you one more one more to do it? Why not? Okay? Then chapters what through what were Millhouse's recess assigned. I'm gonna say three through six. You're very close. It's three through seven, three through seven. It was three through something. Okay, well done, well played you in Sivia for this Patreon exclusive reviewer, the PTA di Spans. All right, it's now trying to get into our review because there's no ads here on this on this review. So the original edit of the PTA to Spans was April sixteenth, nineteen ninety five. There wasn't no there was a chopboard. Gay actually yeah, I do not have power of attorney over first graders. And the cash gig was the one with the living room is modeled after the Relativity and the family you're running through the very different staircases. Ah right, all right, So the episode was directed by Swinton O. Scott. The third Wow, I was on a pompous when you're the second or the third, I don't like the second. I mean, I think if you're a second, then you're junior. What's worse, though, second? Or Esquire? Well, Esquire? Can you Esquire? You've got to be a lawyer. What is Esquire? I'm pretty sure, I mean, I'm pretty sure it's a lawyer, is it? Yeah? You so and so Esquire? But hang on, let's uh, let's go away. Bill and Ted though he's Bill as pressed An Esquire nam Ted Theodore Logan. So he's Esquire, but he's not a lawyer. Oh hang on, hmm. British a polite title appended to a man's name when no other title is used, typically in the address of a letter or other documents. J. C. Pearson Esquire historical a young nobleman who, in training for knighthood, served as an attendant to a knight. But that's a squire. That's not squire. Okay, well maybe it's just yeah, maybe you call yourself that and just to be PONCEI yeah, maybe. Anyway, I always thought it was like a not a legal qualification. But you know, you know how you know your doctor do yeem houser? Yeah, MD. And if he'd gone to law school he'd be do ye howser esquire. Yes, that's what I thought. But maybe I'm completely wrong and you shouldn't listen to me. Possibly possibly, so I was just looking here. As written by Jennifer Clintendon, and her only episode before this that she had written was and Maggie Makes Three, which is the one that's do it for her, So Jennifer knows what she's doing. Jennifer hits him out of the park sometimes. And the next episode she wrote was Scenes of Class Struggle where Marge gets the Channel dress and Hope does the golf of mister Burns. Another fucking great episode. And then she contributed to twenty two short films about spoon Field, my favorite episode, and then she the Pretzel episode Gen's killing It. And then she went all the way over to Seinfeld and she wrote some classic episodes there like the Package, the Little Jerry, the Millennium, the Apology, the Burning, the Puerto Rican Day, and then she wrote some Raymond episodes and yeah, Jennifer's got it going on. Nice Jen, I know, right, Jen, the crit We're in good, good company here anyway. So the episode kicks off with the kids on their way on an excursion on the bus and the bus has certainly seen better days, but save for them the old bus, isn't it because when a leap hits the old one boom yes, and Skinner then says, look, we're on a budget. You know, I can't do much about this because missus cases you should try and fix it because we at the whole the whole kit get bigger and the seatfelt through and he says due to budget budget cuts a kind of and fix it the fumes that are in the back and it's resulting in low test scores. Of course, we get the Ralphs and the whatnock down the back. Then they begin the breaking procedure, which I thought was quite funny, and we get the woman who's at there is off Fort Springfield or something? Is that where they're going to something like that, Yeah, I think for spring anyway, and she's explaining the cannons here. You know these they're very very sensitive, gonna be very careful because it's pointed shirt that watchtower. Very very sensitive. Bus comes in bang of course for safety reasons. We don't get learned. It's just common sense, good bait and switched by gen. They're very good. Otto was then given great. I love this otto was given the credit card, and I mint for afterwards, and I'm mint for afterwards. And unfortunately, though they realize here that it's five dollars a child. Last time it was free, but when Disney Disney takes over, unfortunately it's now five dollars chop because hey, there's a profit to be had, isn't there. Indeed, Disney, that's good prophecy. Then shallby Ville arrives, No school can afford that, and shall we Ville Elementary arrive with principal valiant. He even gives the woman behind the canno fuctual dollars to make sure they learn a bit more than they need to, or then they would normally. Then they try to watch the war re enactment, and Bash is sitting on missus K's shoulders, just trying to get a bit of Lookxie, you gonna to see the fat one. I'm going to make get the fat ones. Hey, they're trying to learn for free. Get them use your phony guns as clubs. Then unfortunately he's eaten the mint first. It's never a good thing. Have you ever brushed your teeth after eating a mint? Or actually no, no, sorry, have you ever brush your teeth and then eating food straight after, or try to drink something straight after. It's horrific. The worst thing you can do. Clean your teeth and then have orange juice, orange juice or softdrk Oh, my goodness, gracious, that's so bad. It is so bad. The kids there, they all hop on the bus. They're making a break for it. The end of Outer again, it's a really terrific edit. That is one of the fucking greatest cuts in the history of the Simpsons that because it's clear they just to beat that little they leave it just looking off for their about to kill him. It's like it's one of the I think actually too if you listen to the audio commentary, I remember it being one of my favorite audio commentary members because they do exactly what they said they said, watch this and they all like pause, wait for that cut, and they order these gray menors break out in hysterical That's terrific. It's so so great. Over being one of my favorite moments ever is Simpson's commentaries. But as E says, thank God for permission, slips Butt and Lisa a then getting their lunch, or that they got the wrong lunches, because I think Bart says, I'm so proud of you. Please be good. For the love of God, please be good. From Marge Cimar that teachers are fed up. You have to start putting money back into the school. You cut back on everything, salary, supplies, the food. I don't care what you say. I can taste the newspapers. Shredded newspapers had much needed rough innge and the central links. Besides, you didn't notice the old gym mats. There's very little meat in these gym matts. Our demands are very reasonable. By ignoring them, you're selling out these children's futures. Oh come on and know we both know these children have no future. Prove me wrong, dads, prove me wrong. I like how he tries to justify everything. Doesn't he a rock in a hard place. There's nothing he can do about it. He's would to make the best of the situation, as you said, and he's trying to look on the bridside and talking about You know, you're getting your essential inks when you eat your shredded newspaper. A great line delivery. Almost immediately after this though, when they cut to the kitchen. Yeah, there's very little meat each. I love I love the lunch lady. She's got a great line to lunch lady Doris. Of course, yeah, but how good was that? I'll give it a rest, and we both know their children have no future. Prove me wrong. Lisa is then worried that the teachers are going to go and strike, and but it's like, what are you worried about? And he tries to cry his knuckles, but unfortunately his bones are very brittle from drinking milk. Thought they hung on the milk a little bit too long. Two little kids that are trying to read it. Who knows? But Edna points out that they the new equipment. This pointer is now just a nub. It still points, doesn't it still points? They've onnly got the banded books. Now do you remember what the band books were? I know that one was tech war Sexist. I think was in there by Henry Miller who sat tech War. Yes, Theory of Evolution by Charles Darwin, forty Years of Playboy by Hugh Hefner. Steal this book, Abby Hoffman hop on Pop Doctor Seuss and the Satanic Versus Junior illustrated edition that was their courtesy of Simpsons Archive dot com a great website if you're an obsessive Simpsons fan for all the little hidden gags, and nothing gets missed on the episode. There's something to be seen in the episodes. The Simpsons archive is where you will find it. Or four fingered this game, oh full finger Thiscain, Well, I'll reiterate what they're doing. Take credit for it. It's the American way, also the Australian way. It's the dan Do way and the Guy way, but faster. There's not going to be a strike bart Or Scanner said, you wouldn't have the one times to go through with it. Skinner said that, well, I had to clean it up a little basically. Kru Babo said you'd give the teachers everything they want. She did. Yeah. She said you'd fold faster than Superman on laundry day. I will see about that, Simpson. I always thought you were sneaky and manipulative, but now I see you're really a very sensitive little boy. Thank you, sir, oh Seymar. You're being totally unfair and the teachers won't stand for it. Teachers, you don't have the guts, does strike. You don't have the guts to take us all on. That's it? See right? How goes the Excuse Me Kids is an emergency broadcast. She takes over announces it going to be a strike, and Miss Hoover has bailed go home, children, hear them, but of course followed by you one of your favorites, missus pommel Horst leaving the key behind. Obviously that's a take on the gim equipment, the pommel horse, Yes, the pobble horse that you vault over when you're doing gymnastics. And the band plays the forbidden music? Which was which song it was? Pop Goes the Whease. I heard that I did like the done will you play the Forbidden news? Great unexpected line delivery, and it is a very fun quick way to go to commercials. And it's like it is yeah, you guys like Pop Goes the Weel. This episode does a great job of setting up the story in a really fun way, so it's like the first commercials out of the way. But sometimes the episodes nowadays where the first act has nothing to do with the story, but it somehow leads to the story. But this was all relevant to what was going on. I really appreciated that. But we come back from commercial and the kids we're all racing out of the school. Great news, mum, horrible news, but it's got a pleasure overload it. Give the dog a big kiss. You've for given the cat a big kiss before U Yeah, I'll give it a kiss on the head. Yeah, not on the on the lips. Uh No. I will bump noses with the ca Yeah. I think that's what you do with catchy bump noses. That's the thing, isn't it. I think dogs I just rough them up a big kiss on the head. It goes to leave with the crowbar. List is all prepared, though. She's got a tape recording of the teacher saying what was it? Eight? What's what's? What's she saying? Repeat? I can't remember, she says something on repeat. Damn it, I forgot ah, I forgot anyway. It escapes me. But Milhouse unfortunately has a two so he's not going anywhay. He's got homeschool list that these parents are quick onto. That won't they absolutely Kirk finally did some decent parenting. The kids then all race out to the street and course the traffic jam. But it is the various him being naughty. So but at the construction site with the adult with the same the same voice, which is the kind of thing you can only really do in a in an animated series, but they do it very well. The arcade is super busy. I love to go security Guard now shaking the kids down. I thought this was going to be the episode where you saw the My Dinner with Andre video game More we had Bond Mons and Trench at Insights. That is actually the episode Springfield Files. Ah okay with the with the X Files crew, which is one of my favorites as well. It is a good and top five for me. But it's playing chess at the park that boys playing three gives the chess at once. It's a nice shout out to a movie that I don't know it's an actual shout out, but it's certainly a bit of a reminds me of a movie that I really did called Searching for Bobby Fisher about a young chess prodigy who goes to play speed chess in Central Park with all the chests hustlers and usually ends up winning. This one is just like, oh wow, look at this kid going no, he sucks. What's that? What's the show about chess that was written in Netflix? The Queen's Gambit? Any good? Oh? Yeah, I highly recommend. Okay, yeah, dude, check that shit out. We will check that shit out once I finished mine. But I suppose I can betic Core suls any once a week. I can do that. I can fit it in between. We need something to watch in between. We've got Moonnight on Wednesdays and Betty corre Stall on Tuesdays. We need something you have to watch. Well, there you go, that's one. We're now at dinner. I love homer justification here. I think as a parent, I now appreciate it more. Lousy teachers trying to palm our kids off on us, very very funny. And Lisa tries to reason with with Homeland. What do you mean like they want to be able to be more productive? Lisa, if you don't like your job, you don't strike. You just go in every day and do it really half fast. That's the American way. He's more he's more like us than we have a kid with. Yes, it's not the American way, it's just the adult way. It's the way. Yes, Lisa can't relax. You know she's losing her perspect pacity. Yeah, well it's always in the last place you look. Look the teachers now are on strike at the front with their picket signs. I appreciated the sign that said, just give me, gimme, gimme, give me, give me. There's something about that line, give me, gimme, gimmey. It's just it's great. Can you give me, gim me, give me, give me? And then Lisa tries to approach Miss Hoover for some for some learning, get away from me, from me. The other two tunas as you said earlier before one two also on strike, and then we get one of the greatest moments I've ever of all time. Now for operations strike me no longer. You know. I heard Skinner say the teachers will crack any minute. Skinner said, the teachers will crack any minute. Purple monkey dishwasher, Well, we'll show him, especially for that purple monkey dishwasher remarks. It's true though Chinese whispers, it always ends in a shamble, doesn't it. It does. Indeed, did you ever play that game at school where you had to try and get the message across And were you that one kid that deliberately fucked it up for everybody? I would never I'm sure I played it, but I always trying to make sure that the message got through uncensored, and you know correct. It's like what I used to try and be the good kids, so it get to me. It'd be like who stole the cookie from the cookies? Who stole the cookie from the cookie? Just ship Bag And I'm like, I'm pretty sure ship Bag wasn't any original light. I'm going to not include it in the next one. I was a goodie, goodie charmers, you know things. All the cars are honking at the teachers in support, but no, honk, give your white cookies. I mean I would honk. Would you not honk who doesn't like cookies? Exactly? Right? Millhouse thing gets his recess. Also honk if your horny exactly. I mean I'm always honking. Bill House then gets so funny. We have to do that episode. It's so great. Millhouse gets his recess and rather than go and look at a hive of killer bees, he's like, I'm actually gonna study here, I'm gonna I'm gonna learn. But it's like, what what you actually learning? Jim Boat, I like it when you see the softer side of the bully said, Jimbo's watching soap with his mum. It's so great. Believe Storic would do that. It reminded me of being on school holidays because we'd always be said to NaN's house because nan I wasn't working, so mom and dad were working with to stay there for the during the day, and they would always watch her soap. She had a it was twelve o'clock and one o'clock. You had Days of Our Lives and Young and the Restless, Young and the Wrestlers. And I can still hear that theme song, how does this kick off? Well, I know the days of it, like sad, three of our Lives, Dude, Young of the Wrestlers. I can't remember the theme, although I've seen those credits so many times with the purple Yeah, yeah, I think it's finished now, Young and the Restless, is it not? I believe it might. All those soaps just seem to have just disappeared. But man Nan loved her soaps, and man I got so into it. This would be a guy and Young and the Restless. I think it was. It was the other one had really pointy eyebrows and it was like always the villain. I didn't like that guy. I didn't like that guy at all. The bullies are then sick of ArKade games. We were playing them for too long. I never thought I could scar playing this. And I've got the doctor says, I've got rist of an eighty year old, So I better stop. What do you mean the breakers out of money in suv it You only have enough jash for the next three customers. Why do I drive Josh second? Here? No? No, I don't have your money here Trohn Burl's house, fragigh, Hey, what the hell you're doing my money in your house? Fred? And it's always that instigates the fight. He's the one that always overreacts to everything. Here, trigger boy, trigger man. That, yeah, it's a Bill's house. Lisa begs to be graded. She's just taken to the extreme. I just like very concerned. She's like, this is not right. They're laying in bed and she's saying, you know, Lisa's become very obsessive. She's trying to dusset her raincoat. Yeah, chicken, this perpetual motion machine. Build what the hell? And stop? Bart needs Bart needs boundaries and structure. Hello, mother, dear. Very creepy, very very creepy. He's not He tends to go to the dark side pretty quickly. Back to his own devices. I've got here though, reminded me of being during during lockdown last year, Being on lockdown where we couldn't go to work and you just get in this rut where you couldn't do anything, and it's just you had no concept of what day it was anymore, what time it was. Just you're up all night, you're sleeping in it was just no you'd wake up and you'd say clocking on. Now, guys, I wouldn't really do that, but that's what that's what you're not. That's what you'd want to do. But yeah, you just you just lost track of all structure during lockdown, didn't we It was what a time it was, and it's just been forgotten about now it's just like, did that really happen? It really had? And I mean I know we we didn't talk a lot about COVID while it was happening, and it's still happening and it is still happening, but it's just like whatever, Yeah, your wife you live was, got COVID, doesn't matter, got to work, it's what what the what? Yeah? In fact, it seems like more people are getting it now. Yeah, but when we're actually looking I mean obviously because we're not lockdown. That's yeah, that makes sense now that I say that. Those guys I was like, why are we even in lockdown because there's more people getting it down in the never. I'm like, because we were in lockdown. Oh yeah, but yeah. It was just one of those things where Alice's going to grow up and go, what was this? What was that? What was this COVID lockdown thing? I'm like, well, kids, sit down and strap yourselves in. Boy, do we have a story for you. Yeah, let me tell you about the good old days of COVID while you know, we're in the midst of climate change or something like that. Lisa enters the room. Lea's getting here in this house, we all be the laws of nam. He then sets up a meeting between missus Kay and Skinner. Actually it's not a meeting, it's a town hall meeting. Sorry it is, Yes, I like that. Forget. Here's Edna Boo Skinners so spiteful, and she says, you know, we need the money Exkinners that I can do, so we're going have to raise the taxes. Ah, I'm not going to like do this justice, I'm just going to play the clip because it's just the police do so great. Our demands are simple, a small cost of living increase and some better equipment and supplies for your children. Give it to them. Yeah, in the dream world, we have a very tight budget. To do what he's asking, we'd have to raise taxes. It's your children's future. It will cost you taxes. Come on means to taxes. Well, I guess this is a case where we'll have to agree to disagree. I don't agree to that. Then, why this is a deli? You have a pickle? Oh my god, the PTI has disbanded. No, No, the p t A has not disbanded. How good was the the god at the window spent? Then back in that he was added in by I believe it was David Murkin. Let me have a look here, so production, Yes, so then showrunner. So now Al Jean is a show runer. David Merkan was a show runner at the time. He thought had a lot of potential when that she brought up. Jennifer brought up the idea of the teachers going on strike, and he was the one who added in, Yeah, the guy jumping out the window. That was his little contribution to this which every little bit helps, Yes, every little bit helps. I feel like though I washed it and went if this was a season thirty two episode and the guy did that, I feel like people would shit on it. But because because it's so random and crazy, people were like, oh, that was stupid. But I think just because in a classic episode fans are more forgiving, you may well be right. Fans just are not willing to accept anything as funny in modern Simpsons, where I think it's hilarious. But yeah, So the guy jumps at the window and they they realize that they've got a plan. So it's not going They're not going to come to an agreement. You know, I agreed or disagree. I don't agree to that. So they're officially disbanded and they bring out the plan. Flaners brings it out. Well, either super intelligent cyborgs and if they're not created yet, what does these people from neighborhood? So the first one we get is Jasper. This is the next bit. It was really fun, just all the different people. I did feel sorry for mother, so Jasper just being cranky old man by believe that's paddling Frank with the preschoolers. No, you can't play whether you wouldn't know, we wouldn't appreciate that guy, But you're right. I mean, this is just a great use of side characters men much loved or like oh that that one. Yeah, And they all reacted in a way that you can actually believe. They would absolutely of Jasper with his paddle. You better believe that to paddle. But then we get Mo and he's trying and of course, you know, I liked the fact that they tied in Bart's name gags he had, and that all the kids laughing at him. But how bad did you feel for me? When he's like, it's my big ears, Isn't it can help that he runs out? I was like, oh, man, poor Mo. He's really he really wanted to help these kids, and they made fun of him, but they weren't laughing him. But he's just so self conscious. Then you know, Bart says, yeah, I kind of feel bad, But you know, remember who else was on the list? So no, who was it? There was Chief Wigham, Lionel Huts, Barney, a lot of huts. That's a scene. I hope they actually wrote that one of us deleted scene on the DV days. That would be hilarious. Trying to dig him out Gabe Caplan and then he crosses my off the list. Then we get Leopold, a very scary man. Your little freaks, this is one substitute you were not screw aweight And as march we come back and Margine introducing yourself, I like him, brackets Bart's mummy on the board and but as unfortunately set up the booby traps. First one is just the thumb tack, just classic. Next one home alone style. Oh yeah, I think I might have actually put like a tech on a teacher's that's fucking so mean. I know. I think you go back at some of the ship you did when you're a kid, and you're like, why did I throw bags of dogs shit at people's houses? Why did I rock roofs wood so our mates through dogshit? That he would we would my I had a mate who would like get the dog shit put into like a hunger jack's bag whatever, like scrunched up so it like wouldn't come out, and just launched one's front door, so just go boom, don't open the front door. Just be a bag of dog shit there. Terrible, Or I just slamming someone's letter box or rocking a roof or whatever. It's like, why did I find that funny little punk little shipthead. So I was the instigator. I was the guy who would just say, I bet you wouldn't throw that rock. Oh really, wait wait, tell them in the bushes, then do it. But yeah, so she shot up bibber traps and as Much says, oh, we've been doing that one since I was a little kid. They get back home and everyone's had a bad day. It's been shipped for ship for Lisa and ship for Marge as well. Exhausting. Took the kids of a forty minutes to locate Canaday, well March. It's hard to find the wagh all the way down there. Lisa then explains Jasper's day and I thought it was hilarious. And the beard in the sharp knot, that's so good, grandpa. Let me just do this well away. They did it just the right amount too, I mean, yeah, three or four, it's three times, but the last one you're almost not expecting it to happen. So what's you gonna do? Exactly like, it's just not learning. But Lisa's worried here. She won't even get into vasa. I've had it up to you here with your vassa bashing young lady. Marge says, regards what you do, but what you say, I will not stop teaching. It's not going to happen. Well, I guess I'll just have to get into the CROs space again. It's just such a random thing. But it's funny beating on the wall. When he gets in there and bangs on the wall, it's classic, classic Simpsons went out at the school in the playground, but says to Marge, look, I need a dollar because because since you've been a subty, all the kids are stealing my lunch money. Ah, here you go, honey, go off with your friends. I thought you would have been a big fan of Kerney's jig. I like this jig and I love my just reaction. That's a very nice chig. It's a very nice chicken. You have that, Katie. But his voice was wrong. I think it was Jimbo's voice. Yeah, it was weird. But Bart realizes here after getting beaten up again, Look, Millhouse, we need to get those teachers back. You know you're right, but but missus Kane's skinning like two positively charged ions. So it's like Wait a minute, Midhouse, with your book smarts and my ability to exploit book smarts, we can come up with a great plan. A surprise party for me in Principal Skinner's office. Well, I don't know, but all right, go to my office. It's highly irregular, but all right, and you're not coming out until you're reaching agreement nor they'll start. Sure, come on, you're going to be very very sorry. I really enjoyed. I feel like that we've had a good time. I like to think they acted it together, Marsha and Harry. You're going to be very very They just they were not impressed being lock in that room, which is very very good. And again it's similar to the Beard line where it was like, Okay, they're stopped. No they're going again. They finally stopped. No they're going again. But yeah, they finally realized, well, we're gonna have to sort this out. What are we going to do? It's like prisons in our own school. Wait a minute, and it cuts to the school basically turned into a prison. Did you notice Willie in the tower? I did. I'll tell you what that was a little a little scared. When the murderer ripped the shirt off and like that would be terrifying. Absolutely just ignore the matter. Then we get Snake before we get the sleep I've actually got here, I go. This is off the the Simpsons archive once again. Snake's prisoner number was seven F two zero, which was the episode code for War of the Simpsons from season two, and the other prisoner's number was two F two to one. The episode Marched the Cop, once Marched the Cop. I think it's Springfield connection. But yeah, so Snake says, hey, kid, get me out of here. I'll totally make it worth you a while, but I am listening. A good way to win, a really funny way to end everything sort of sort of somewhat back to normal. And yeah, it's just as you said, very meme heavy, but just a very solid story from start to finish. It didn't need the size story, just really interesting way of incorporating all of the Springfield residents into one to one episode. I really enjoyed this. I did as well. Yes, I'd pretty much forgotten all about this episode until I rewatch it. For this episode, isn't it Cropean that happens where you go back and you sort of you know the gist of what happens in the episode, but these classic moments that pop up and you go, oh, is this one? Yes? And for me though, because I mean I lived off the Simpsons. The Simpsons is and will forever be my number one show. I was just every day watching The Simpsons obsessed since I started this podcast. It's because I've sort of gone away from that. I don't go back and just watch the episodes for the sake of it. I only really watch the Simpsons now to review it, and I want to go back now and just start watching those other episodes again. Like Nicholas, she watches Friends day and day out. It needs to be me of the Simpsons. I think I need to go back and to start enjoying the Simpsons yeat, and not that I'm not enjoying it now, but watching it without having to review it, just watching it because I'm a fan of the Simpsons. I miss being just a fan of the Simpsons. So I'm looking forward to going back and doing it. I'm actually kind of what am I doing is I wait till Elliott's a bit older and we can watch it together. I can't wait to introduce the Simpsons to to Alliott and relive the show through his eyes again. I just can't wait, very exciting for it. It's very exciting for me as nerdy that sounds. I'm just very excited for that. What do we learn bomb? But what did you learn from the PTA dispands? Mister Davis that there aren't many things that won't earn you a paddling That is apparently true. But is getting a paddle a bad thing? What if it gets you through the night? Man? It depends your padlent true or what you've been paddled with.
