Giant Bombcast

We build a scatological birdhouse in this week's Bombcast, discussing Lorne Michaels' royalties, Sony's E3 press conference, the burden of fruit trees, the controversial popcorn issue, foot food, and, of course, lobthtuh monthtuth.

Everyone. It's two day May the tenth, twenty eleven, and you're listening
to the Giant Bobcast. I'm your host, Ryan Davis, joining me the
original quartet, Vinny Caravella, Jeff Gerstmen and Alright Shoemaker. We arelody.
I'm not melody, and I was just saying I was just saying I was
melodizing the band names, right, harmony talked about this harmonizing thank you,
uh simonizing. I was, I was vulcanizing your harmonies. I feel galvanized
to make them more shooted for the road, going to euthanize this whole podcast.
Keep going. It's gonna keep it alive. It's gonna let it ship
up its own back, have to change its diapers, down the legs,
into the shoes, filling up those hard shoes, just like bedbugs. You
just gotta throw the whole thing a yeah, Like, what do you do?
You can't salvage any of that podcast covered feces again, welcome to there's
an acceptable amount of feces you can have in a podcast before the government steps
in. Though so I think we're I think I think that's specific to rat
feces. I think if there's any trace amounts of human feces. Know the
right people. Podcasts grease the right palms with shit. It's effective for they
will leave you alone. Yeah, I don't shake that guy's hands ever,
ever, again, ever, again, stay away from him. I thought
I was getting greased at twenty five minutes of just noise, Betty Caravella,
this podcast is longer than twenty five minutes. You can't fool me. Now,
that's just the warm up. Now we're up, Now, we're in
it. Now, we've got our We've done our vocal exercises, vocalizes.
Shake the flam out? What are you doing getting a flame out? You
lose the work. I don't know. I made that up. Your next
all red now, so don't cheese podcast effective for that? Hey, how
you doing doing all right? How are you doing? I'm fantastic great.
I had a great weekend, you did. I did not much because I
was in La for the the Alimas Gallery show, uh for for the jury
the weekend. Although I did manage to squeeze in a little bit of gatling
gears, but I can't really say anything about that right now. Yeah,
we'll have a quick look up on Wednesday. But probably a review this week.
I'll probably play enough of that to review it. So it's it's actually
the follow up to Greed Corp. I don't know if you remember, remember
that for Xbox Live Arcade it's like Assault Heroes but slow Okay, uh yeah,
Dual Joystick Shooter, Yeah, shares that same kind of designs that it
could set in that same universe, even what platform, Xbox Slide Ricade and
others. Okay, someday it will be available on the PlayStation network. They
were. I think they're even still planning or rolling out like a week later
on PlayStation network anyway, Yeah, I think I think they did. They
did say that date to us, but I wonder if that was them saying
like it'll have to be up by then, right, Like, it's not.
We know it's not gonna be up next week, so we'll plan for
the following. I can't wait to the news section to find out what's going
on in the PlayStation Well, you know, we'll just jump ahead PlayStation that
we're still down hold on check in. Yeah, I can't, can't.
We can't start cannibalizing our bits from other shows. Why not? We need
those for the other shows can't start dull so so many Caravella. Yeah,
how you doing doing? Okay, tell me about yourself. Uh, it's
weird. I should I should note. I should note for the home listener
that today is video Caravella's birthday. That's right. Today. Today, finally
is the double digits. Today's the day they come take my eyes. That's
it. That's it. It's like Logan's run style. They put a little
tracker in it and that went off. Yeps, and now now the youth
police are coming. Knew shame put a hairline for twenty three. Huh well,
congratulations to making it to the ripe old age of twenty three. Thank
you. Yeah, I have my eyes checked out. I don't have macular
degeneration. That's good. Yeah, contrary to the pms and stuff that are
we're gonna and the retinas people were sending me. Oh well, so yeah.
I think last week Brad said something about macula and the only application of
that term that I know is macular degeneration. My grandma has that. It's
really bad. She can't see anymore. Yeah, that's bad, but you
would know because it starts like right in the middle of where you look.
So it's a weird thing where like for a while as it's happening, you
can see like out of your peripheral still, but if you actually try and
look directly at something, you can't see it. Which I can't imagine this
more. I imagine being just fucking fully blind is better than having that kind
of vision in the middle of your eye. Yeah, uh no, I'm
fine, good, And it should clear up on its own in a month
or two or three. So something that's what the doctor says, fluid got
in like my retina or something. Did you ask what kind of fluid?
Uh? I know. Yeah, I was gonna say, yeah, if
you're taking shots of vodka through your eyeballs, he said that would clear it
up. But I don't want to or make me forget about it real fast.
Yeah, well Smith Norman Channing here, it's weird. It was weird.
It's still a weird thing because I still see it. But but yeah,
having somebody tell you that it will go away is it's just a nice
thing. You just kind of then you just kind of enjoy it. It's
like a temporary weird thing, like it's not the generative, it's not hopefully
you know, I have to check back in. I have to go back
and see it and make sure it's going on. I mean, there's a
chance it won't go away, but but it's not like a symptom. It's
not. They're like, oh, that's that means that your dick's gonna fall
off in ten days. Well, I mean, dot's not go that far,
but it should go away. How do you know it hasn't already?
Why would you see that happy birthday? You guess what jest for you?
There you go. I just said, dick in a bottom. We have
to pay Lauren Michael's seventy five dollars every time anyone listens to this podcast.
It's just you've ruined us the lonely out island. I'mas out today. So
I think we just get off the saying it's just sponsoring. Uh yeah,
so that's good. That's the eyebawl thing. Yeah, thank you? So
how is that? Obviously it's it's can you kind of do you want to
talk about describe the thing? Well? I will. I will say that
for those I got a lot of very heartwarming support emails and n pms and
stuff. I'm fine, I really am. Uh, it's a weird thing.
It's just like a it's almost like a blind spot, like right right
in here, right in the eyeball area, which is as you can imagine,
it's kind of frightening when you it doesn't go away, so it's like
it's like somebody snapped a flash real close to you and that thing never goes
away, that part where you're just like I can't shake it out. Yeah.
She originally described it as like a weird like afterimage. Yeah, and
then it started it started changing. Shit. You know, it makes sense
because it's fluid in there and it starts changing shape. So it worked from
its perip my periphery into like my main center of vision. And that's so
I've gone to the doctor. You guys might remember like a couple of weeks
ago, and then when it moved into my central field division is when I
that day, I went back to him and I was like, dude,
let's find out what this is. This is what did it look like at
that point? Yeah, it was a circle, and then there's like a
tangent coming off the circle, like take the shape of the Virgin Mary or
I was kind of thinking like maybe I'm seeing a ghost a sign because it
now it's weird because it's it's like this blind spot. I mostly see when
stuff changes really quickly, Like if I moved my hand quickly in front of
my face, I could see it. So it's almost like, uh,
like my eye, my retina is on like a little bit of a delay,
like a split second delay before the picture clears up again. Right,
the frame rate's not right, it's not right. There's at Yeah, I
need a reference signal. Yeah, I can't capture too, it's too many
reference frames. That's the turn off hardware acceleration. Turn it off in your
player. By the way, I turn off harder acceleration your player if your
video of stutters during the live stream, or if it's stutters on the site,
that seems to be the key. Right click on the trash you're not
helping. Sorry, Uh, it worked for Melissa. It seems sporadic.
I might actually resolved itself without that went away on its idea, Brad's find
your computer's messed up. I installed a new version of flash that they have
helped. So anyway, Yeah, so that's kind of what it is,
and hopefully it should be shrinking or going away on its own and up.
They said it could be a little subtle, uh vision change. I wouldn't
say a loss, but make it. It would be like a superpower,
I don't think. So you're gonna have like X ray vision when this is
over, because so I'll get to this when I talked about what I was
playing. But so I'm color blind already, right, and when I ab
my eyes, the you know, it's fluid there and I think it's like
viscous a bit. So the color there's a tint on it, and it
doesn't help make everything actually much worse because now I'm starting. It makes the
blues kind of and that's where my strong point is, my blues and yellows.
Right, it makes that a little worse. So anyway, my eyeballs.
So how has I mean, has has that affected your ability to enjoy
VIGI games? Because you know, pretty visual medium? No? No really
no, just can't play any three D games for the time being. Yeah,
so take care of what have you been playing? Man? So since
last week? You're ready? Yeah, there's some stuff. So I made
it through Gem and I RU which we did a quick look up, played
through that great fire a gun in that game that ended up staying good.
Then yeah, start my start style. Yeah, so you get this like
weird adventure game fire a gun mode, which is completely weird, so you're
you're actually like real time shooting a gun and going into cover. Weird in
an adventure game. But yeah, the whole game is like point and click,
like inventory style. Yeah. Yeah, so you get to this point
where you're using like uh as W style controls to hide behind cover, pop
out, shoot a guy and you've got like a meter that you can that
fills up and you can get it. You get like a head shot and
kill him in one shot. It happens like four or five times in the
game. But it's cool. It's interesting. That game is fun. Back
to the Future beat the last latest episode moving damn now now I'm now,
I'm behind. Now I'm reaching my It's almost over. I'm yeah, I
know, I know they've got one of my episode left, but I'm reaching
my Like, I am far enough behind in that series that I done might
not be able to catch back up. They're very fast, seem to be
getting shorter. Last it's so good, I are You said the third one
was great, and you weren't feeling as excited about the fourth one with the
cliffhanger from that is that where no, I think that was second one was
second third, because now this was just the third was exciting. And then
you said you finished the third one and you're like, Adam, fourth good,
fourth one solid. Yeah, it's good and we're ready to wrap it
up, which is cool. Uh And then I guess Jurassic Park at some
point pushed that back to the fall. Yeah, so yes, at some
point some are still correct. Finished Dragon Age two, great going on,
Yeah, that's finished, all back in find the last little Nope bits all
done, got them all finished? Playtime, give me playtime? Oh I
don't even know. I just I'll click click, click, auto attack credits
roller like, all right, I'm out. The ending. The ending is
that of that game. The whole the whole finale of that game is just
a series of people making the most unfortunate decisions you've ever seen in a video
game, and for a role playing game, it's the worst. Just like
what the fuck are you doing? The world be like why would you do
that? I don't know, because this thing end of the game, that
guy's gonna do something real stupid about two minutes too, Like, what are
you doing to know? Everybody, stop, that doesn't justify your bad decisions.
We'll check it out and like it's just terrible. So it's just like
all these weird contrived fights at the end of the game for people just being
like, you're doing the stupidest thing in the world right now, Why would
you? I don't know. And then it's at the end very end of
the game, it's it goes like and then he was never seen again or
was he? Was he? We don't know, because I'm not sure if
we'll get to make a Dragon Age three. They'll definitely make a Dragon three.
If you were to put some sort of star rating, I don't know,
five on that game. It would be between I would give my anger
at Vinny over continuing to play this game. Five it's probably somewhere it's really
id to sit down and think about him in my head. Would be between
like a three and four. It's somewhere there, and we don't do have
stars, I know, so I really have to sit down and kind of
think about it. That's that's higher than I thought you would have said.
Yeah, like the four, four I feel like would be generous. Yeah,
three probably seems about right. Two is too low. I mean it
still is a pretty good Yeah, I don't know, it's just such stuff
about that game just gets under my skin. Might and magic Clash of heroes
up here. It's beat that nice fantastic did you really? Yeah? Not
a short game. Not a short game. I think thirty something hours in
the good lord. Uh, it's great. It's a fantastic game, maybe
in my top top one of my top games of the year. Siver read
out of Seam like, I mean, it's the same core kind of puzzling
stuff, but you get you change units, you change factions so much that
you're you're basically relearning everything and they do this, yeah, and they do
this really smart thing. By the time you get to the last faction,
they basically each other. When you start at like level one, you're like,
okay, hear the core units. I'll start to move up. Last
one is just like your level seven. You understand everything already, Like you
don't even have to buy units anymore. Just give you all of them.
You're gonna play this last faction for like I don't know, a couple of
battles, and they're like, great, fantastic because I understand what's going on.
It's it's smartly done. Some stuff I would still nitpick on it,
but it's great. Everybody should check it out. Everybody, And you know,
pretty significant value for a delatable game like that. Yeah, if I
can keep your attention. And I know it was it was out on DS
with like two years ago, so people have probably already checked it out.
If you haven't check it out, Oh no, it's you know, cheaper
on xpur kay than at least when it launched down. Yeah, it fifteen
Okay, it's fantastic. And music is stuck in my head because it's the
same song for the Well then there's also like the completely redone art and all
that jazz and all that stuff. There's voice acting. I don't think it
was in the DS. The load times are the worst part of it.
The game's got kind of crazy load times for sure, that's the worst.
That's the worst part of it. And the frequent that's the main thing.
Yeah, And and it seemed like so at the end of the game,
they show cut scenes of like you know, Bill went on to be a
lawyer and like Jack, and in between each one of those it's a loading
screen. You're like, they must have not figured something out. In there.
I wish everything you just said was true. I wish that there was
a character named Bill in there. He's the main bad guy. They actually
just stream like a YouTube clip of the ending of Animal House. Ye freeze
frames and everybody. That's it's weird game. So maybe, so let's let's
talk achievements here, let's talk clean up on that stuff. Achievement wise,
I'm missing like four Okay, that's it. Yeah, you do wind up
with a lot, or you know, half of them, at least the
multiplayer ones, three multiplayer ones, and the hey bring one guy's entire crew
up to level five. But there was like the like going back and hitting
specific it's easier than each season, well at least for me. Yeah,
it's easier to go back and do it. But I did it mostly in
everybody's campaign, but were pretty easy. They tell you there's a little pop
up that says you beat everything here, like great, fantastic. Uh.
And then I started playing some New Vegas again, like from scratch. No
no, no no, but it was really hard to get back into Where
where were you I don't know, I don't know in New Vegas, I
don't know. But you had not you had not finished it once before already.
No, No, okay, like I said, like three podcasts ago,
I should go back and I forgot all about it. Yeah, I
don't. That's tough. I don't know. That's I mean, that's a
that's a that's a pretty tough game to like walk away from for a stated
period of time and come back. Can expect no idea what's going on to
Yeah, like any of the story threads I had had that experience would fall
out three and yes, it's impossible. It's really hard and plus it's just
a lot of shit going on. Yeah, you forgot everything that was going
on. You forgot where everything is, like it was aligned with not no
one where to go in those games is like the death knell, Like you
can't get past that because it's so big. I think I might just might
not like that game that much. It's just something like something about it.
I think it's I don't know if it's the bugginess or whatever, or just
like not even that the game itself is really buggy. It's just what it
is, and like something about that. I gotten to this point yesterday where
I kept walking to a room and it just I would explode, like somebody
would set off some mine or something like that, and you know it saves
after each door, so I just reload and I would just explode and I
would just reload and I just explode, and I'm like trying everything I could
to not yeah, and I just couldn't do it, and I had to
reload this other save. So like stuff like that just kind of makes me
feel like I really want to finish this game, but you're making it so
hard. You still have that save. Uh, it was an auto save,
so i'd probably saved over it at that point. Yeah, slowed that
up, make a loop. Yeah, just just scream that out for a
boom boom. And then it was like I was supposed to find this guy,
but I guess I had already done something so that when I went to
go find him, he was just a corpse that was just laying there and
I found him. That mission's done, and like it kind of just sucks.
As I told the guys, like, I'm gonna find your but I'm
not gonna plates I'm gonna find your man kill this guy first, and I'm
gonna find your guy. And I go and I kill that guy first.
This guy Motorhead or something like that, and it sounds like a fall on
him. Yeah, he's the leader of the Fiends and I kill him and
I'm like, I'm gonna find you guy now and he's dead and oh no,
no, no, you're you only no, yeah, you leave it
up if you're going and going after the fiends. But that has to be
like a like way disconnected, like much earlier decision. When I found the
dude he was it was dead and smoked I had. I found him in
a corpse of dude, so he apparently tried to get out of there and
didn't make it. I feel like that might be just like a set piece
thing, like that's how that missions because I couldn't find him, and then
somebody they don't you know what. I actually had an incredibly hard time fighting
me as well, because it's one of those it's it's crazy making with the
mapping system in that game where you're not sure if it's pointing you toward a
door or a door or like I'm supposed to find an entrance and then from
there the you know, the map will continue with it's like oh no,
that it's pointing me towards where that thing should be in the world, but
I'm just standing on top of it. The actual door to it is like
eight miles away. Yeah, that's some of that stuff can be really frustrating,
very frustrating, very so. Anyway, I spent some more time in
these pitfalls of a big ass, you know, open game like that.
So what I didn't play, Yeah, that's my new segment. What I
didn't play was a hector. I did not play pack Man. I did
not play Moon Patrol. Here we get sued. I'm just saying. I'm
just saying that you didn't play I didn't play Moon Patrol. But there you
go. Somebody played. Somebody played Moon Patrol. Uh, and I kind
of wanted to play Hacktor and I just I don't know. So it sounds
like you're already adventure gamed up between Back to the Future and what's what you
call it Gemini. Also, what I didn't play Crisis Too, which I
just kept looking at and being like I should buy this, and then it
was like the Crisis sale and the EA thing is going on. Oh God,
I'm meant to let you know, did you see it the Crisis text
you about that? Yeah, but I don't know. On Saturday, do
you have Warhead. Yeah, okay, Uh, but Chrisis two and never
went on sale, not surprisingly, and I was kind of waiting for it
to be, like, all right, you knocked ten dollars off of get
some Crisis too. They never did, so you didn't buy Crisis. Tendnt
buy Crisis too? But I want to, but I didn't. Well,
they want that ten dollars, so I don't know. Stalemate, Yeah,
call me. You're at an impass between you and E. Let's work this
out. Let's where we'll figure something out. I will because I played through
Crisis and I've got me all Crisis stuff and war Uh. But yeah,
anyway, that's it. I can keep going on. And I didn't play
It's a long list. We'll stop. That's gonna be Why don't we change
the segment too? Did you play? Did we ask you games and you
tell us I guess I start? Did you play Might and Magic Clash of
Heroes? I did? I win? I win? Oh wow, I
am the best of this game. I'm just gonna amid all that stuff up.
Damn it. So now, yeah, that's that's the new game is
you have to talk about several games convincingly. So one of those one of
the games we didn't actually play, all right, which which these stories right
in is bullshit. So Hector was awesome, this great part a couple of
things that don't. So yeah, you gotta be able to bluff your way
through it and hope that the other that's that no one else played that game,
so they know. Wait, he's bullshitting because I know that part,
and that's not true at all. I got to point E in forty seven
seconds, So feeling pretty good, pretty good about my Moon patrol experience.
But I jump back into Flower, have some good times with that. Jeff
Gershman, Hello, video games. What about them orange shirts? We want
to know. I can tie them, and I am accredited expert on both
of these things, except with the orange shirts. That's shirt your words,
Hello Orange's the weather outside is great? It is great. That's no,
that's play a good reason for an orange shirt. I don't need a reason
to wear an orange Also, I don't need a reason to wear no orange
shirt. You have coffee on the bridge of your nose. That saying I
don't need no reason to wear an orange short shirt. I don't need no
reason to wear an orange shirt. Also, you have coffee on the bridge
your nose, I'm just freestyle over here. Oh Moon Patrol, Well yeah,
we'll put the Moon Patrol beat under this, all right, okay,
good, yes, and that'll be the your high concept rap. That's my
one, Zoe JERUSI pitfall is my nose is too big to hit, which
kind of just flip it and it's fine, just flip it all the way
back. It's fine anyway, Americans. Also, I played some video games.
What sort of video games did you play, Jeff, Let's see.
Did you play a class based first person shooter? Yeah? I played dark
Spot. Oh you played some dark Sport? Yeah, what'd you think of
that? I just talk about an hour into that. Yeah, I don't
know that I'm gonna play anymore dark Spore. It just it's okay, it's
okay, Yeah, I mean, you know whatever, it's it's you know,
I had nothing to nothing to lose, nothing gain. Yeah, but
it did not hold my attention, uh past that first hour. It's like,
okay, I kind of beat like one to one. I was like,
okay, I kind of see what kind of game this is. And
I don't really like the way the editor works, the way you equip stuff
onto your guys, it doesn't what don't you like about it? And it
just doesn't feel I don't know, it didn't feel like it was giving me
enough good feedback about what I should be doing there and switching between your guys
is in the editor is a little more cumbersome than it than it probably should
be. And I don't know. If you eventually get one hundred dudes in
that game, I could see that pole process being completely crazy. Yeah yeah,
and they now have four dudes. I'm already like, wait, okay.
Also, they all look like crappy monsters, Like they all look like
garbage. That looks like garbage. I don't I don't like the way that
any of the the you know, the doctors look at the beginning, made
to look like they were made in the Creature Creature Creator, But none of
them have any like of what actually made Spore cool. Like none of them
animate or or like seem like lovable or lifelike in a fun way. They're
just like, I'm yet another claw beast. Look at me, man,
I'm like a crawfish, but now I got legs and I'm gonna stab everybody
with this hammer. That what got a blade on the back of it.
So none penis monsters. Yeah, basically, like I want, I think
it's it's a it's a horrible mistake that you don't create your own dudes in
that game that you start from, like they're kind of ideal, like like
you start from one of their creatures and then yeah, okay, you picked
up some eyes and these eyes are plus two to something and you can put
them on between levels. But just the default looks for the guys, at
least those first four, it's all stupid. I didn't like the look of
any of them. They all look like space bugs in like the in a
in a like, but they look at evil space bugs. If you get
to the next rank, there's a spider, yeah, exactly, Like there's
I want fun loving space faring odd balls. Then you need the game not
called Dark Spore. I guess yeah, like that they kind of there,
I guess they do. They kind of let you know, Rut of the
Bat. But it is more dark than Spore. That is it is.
It is not it is. There is not a lot of Spores where it
comes first. I want Dark yeah, yeah, perfect spot dark yeah zero
because it's a prequel, takes place before Spore, yeah, so that we
don't have to pay will write any money for this smooth, Yeah, think
about it. Yeah, I don't know. I mean, I feel there's
some neat stuff in that game when you're actually playing it, But I just
it's a competent like Dungeon Crawler, and you know it's got Luton. You
know you're running around these kind of surreal environments. But I see what you're
saying, if you had kind of star rating on it between one and five,
I don't want I'm not gonna put numbers on games. I played for
an hour, I played three. I played it more than Jeff did.
And uh and Brad, you sat in on that quick look and I feel
you like like once I was on that, I'm like, yeah, I
god don't want to don't. I don't. I'm not chomping at the bit
to come back. I'm like, yeah, I kind of feel like I
know what the trajectory of this game is gonna be. Of like I'm gonna
go to more Space dungeons and five more Space monsters. And I wonder if,
like if story ever enters into it again, or if it's more just
premise premise. It sounds like it gets awfully repetitive, so probably yeah.
I mean by the end of Yeah, by the end of like editing my
guys for the third time, I was like, yeah, I kind of
don't want to do I don't want to do this anymore. Yeah. And
it does the thing where you know each character levels depending on use. Yeah,
so I could very easily see you get into a situation where it's like,
well, I'm now fighting way nastier enemies. So this guy that I
barely used, I'm never gonna bust him out because he will just die.
Well, it's what it's, you know, they kind of expect you to.
It's yeah. I think it's why they put a chat channel, like
right in the main menu of that game, like almost Command of Conquered four
style of in terms of this is a this is not an MMO, but
we're going to connect you to some chat anyway, because they probably just want
you to should be playing this with some dude. Yeah, you should be
playing this with some dudes, and you should be grinding the same worlds over
and over again, but with dudes, because that makes everything fun, even
if it's super repetitive like that. I think that's that's probably the core idea
about the game, and there are people in the in that chat channel going
like who wants to chain World nine with me? Like? Who wants to
sit here and do all the World nine in one go? Let's do this?
Like, I don't it means you have to get to a World nine
first. Yeah, I mean I don't know. Maybe I maybe I could.
I don't know. Maybe maybe they'll let you invite. I don't know.
I probably would get ripped up. But I've not touched any of the
online stuff that second anyway. Yeah, so it seems like that they are
expecting people to play through the same content again and again with you know,
different groups of people, and so you know that there's your opportunity to level
up your under used heroes as it were. But but yeah, I don't
know. It's like I said, I only played it for an hour,
so obviously not a full, full opinion, full view on that game.
But it definitely is not a game I expect I will return to. Is
there something in the story called like the dark Spore or something? Yeah,
okay, yeah, the enemies you fight, all everything, every enemy you
fight is dark spore. All these dark spore because they've been mutated by some
kind of crazy DNA. They spend a fair amount of time in the beginning
of that game, like the fiction and like who you are and you're a
progenitor, yeah, because you're prived antically frozen progenitor, the progenitor or the
projector so so okay, that's where I got confused, because they were saying
progenitor at a point, and then they started saying progenitor, yeah, specifically
about you. I guess right, I guess yeah. But they were put
to sleep while AI computers researched a way to stabilize the crazy mutant DNA that
you could use they hate more heroes. It extended? Is it extenditor enhanced
enhanced? I forget, I forget. It's where do you load your sound
car drivers? I Q seven dotis load equals high. But yeah, they
spent a lot of time setting up this fiction about how there's this you know,
the race of creatures that you know went around the universe and created life
on all these planets, and then they started making e DNA. But then
the E DNA went rotten and that's what created the dark spore that murdered a
bunch of the universe. And so now they got to try and stop the
dark spore and you're the last of the progenitors. Wow, it happening to
everybody else slaughtered, but they're like five. You know, a bunch of
ships got launched off and you're one of them. Okay, and I imagine
that all of your multiplayer buddies are other other ones because you're just it is
literally like like almost command of Cocker style, like you are controlling the guy
these guys from your ship from somewhere else. So it's just like tying into
this actual spore thing, Like are you are you a progenitor being like a
spore maker? No, I don't. I don't think it really necessarily ties
into spore at all, other than we have this technology laying around, let's
use it to make guys that look dumb. Also, there's ip O.
God, what do we do with this? Is like Gundam wing style alternate
right, Okay, So yeah, I played some of that, played a
little bit of Cargo. I like how you're dancing around the cargoes. Weird,
you're avoiding the issue here. I played a little bit past where we
got in the quick look of Cargo, and then I don't know that I
want to. I don't know that I'm equipped to play anymore cargo. Does
it change much? Are you still just collecting? Still just collecting stuff?
Yeah, still kicking guys to collect fun. And so did you get to
the race stuff that Brad was playing during the happy hour? Yeah? And
that's that's also where I kind of was like, I don't know that you
lost it there. This is maybe a little too rushing for you. They
carry you know, she just moved so slowly. She's plods around that island.
And you know, granted, you eventually get vehicles and you know,
build different stuff and you can move around more quickly, but I just wish
that if she just ran faster, I think the entire experience, the entire
startup of that game anyway, would be a little more enjoyable. But even
then, that's ah, it's pretty weird. Played some gatling gears. I'm
gonna say there's other What was what was came out last the week before that?
Download wise or something? I'd it was an Outland? Was it?
No? I guess I didn't play a ton of Outland. I should play
that. I was gonna say that you should play that. Vinnie should pay
it seems like something you would like. Yeah, there's something else, something
I threw a code at you for. Yeah, sank them the week before.
Is that it's a couple of weeks ago. That's a couple of weeks
ago. That's one of that game's cool. There was some other downloadable game
I don't know. I downloaded Metro twenty thirty three. I'm gonna try that
out here pretty soon. Nin Jump, yeah, nin Jump. But yeah,
then I also played a whole bunch of Brink. Yes, that's out
this week's out this week, that's damage today, blue Box. And I
don't like Brink. Okay, Yeah, it's uh why don't you like Brink
because I don't think it's a very good game. Why don't you think that's
that's an acceptable reason? It's uh, well, I mean, well,
first we want you to go down the list here. Do you want me
to say which I should probably started? What is Brain? That game was?
Yeah, I think a lot of people did you know? It's it's
like when I go back to the first time we saw Brink. Were you
there for with me for that first demo? It's like Darth Grade, Yeah,
class trip to the interview in that really tiny room. Yeah, it
just drew that was with me, that Munich Olympian. I don't remember it
looking that much different than in office. Yeah. I think it's just that,
you know, it's when you see what that game actually is. So
the way that they spun that game is, you know, yeah, it's
gonna have this campaign mode and you can play it and you need to complete
these objectives. But you know, we're gonna really try to incentivize incentivize people
to play the campaign with or against other human players. And you know,
it'll come up and say like, hey, you know you can get more
experience for for doing this. When you spin it that way, it's like,
oh cool. So it's like, you know, I can play this
whole campaign and then enhance it by playing against people. But where it breaks
down is the campaign is the exact same thing as the multiplayer, but with
bots. If you if you don't allow people into your game, and the
bots are terrible. So uh it's you know, the bots do stuff like
so I'm interacting with a terminal to capture it or or whatever other bots will
or or I'm you know, planting an explosive on something. It's it's an
action that takes time you're interacting with an object and you're out of combat,
you're watching a bar fill up. Yeah, other bots will run up behind
you or alongside you and just keep running in place, like up against the
object, like they're trying to capture it too. Yeah, like they don't
get that, like, oh, you're doing this, I should turn around
and cover your back. The only bought action that feels like remotely decent is
that if you go down, medics will find you and revive you. It's
like bought medics, which is more than I can say for the human players
encountered while playing Break. I was gonna say it kind of begs the question.
It's it sounds like this is intended to have, you know, highly
integrated online you know, kind of multiplayer in the single player, single bucket
style. Yeah, and you know, any experience, any experience you gain,
goes into you know, building your character, whether it's offline against bots
or online. You get like fifteen percent more experience points if you're an online
game, even if you you have that online game set to private, so
they're all bots. So you know, so when you say when you say
in a single player campaign, it's it's not it's just it's practically map selection.
I mean they lay out some missions for each it's it's two there are
two factions, the rebels and the Security Forces or whatever resistance, and they're
basically like eight missions per side. But there are you know, eight maps
in that game, and you know, each can be played two ways depending
on which faction you are. So it's kind of like the same thing as
the multiplayer, like exactly is there a narrative or sort of, but that
that narrative also comes up in the multiplayer because it's really just like twenty seconds
of guys talking before the round starts, Like you know, it's like cops
on a train. It's like what are we doing here again? It's like,
oh, the rebel leader did this stuff and we need to stop them.
So if we stop them, that's it. It's done. Yep,
let's stop. And it's like these aren't named characters that you care about or
anything like that. It's there's no like real narrative other than you know,
you kind of learned sort of at the beginning that the rebels want to try
to get off this island. Can you be the rebels? Yeah, yeah,
at the beginning, and you can choose at either point. I mean,
this is how like little went into the campaign. You can pick any
mission in it anytime you want. It's not like you have to propose to
the end. It practically is just map selection. So it sounds like you're
playing offline instead of playing a single player campaign exactly. But even then,
you can open those games up to humans and still get your like campaign progress
checkbox checked if you win that match, whether you're playing against humans or not.
So it could be like just a random yeah, mix of that,
and so could My understanding this is that also in that scenario where you're in
the single player and there are live opponents on the opposing force, could they
also be going through their campaign I don't know, or are they going at
multiplayer or like, so where does that split start? It'll probably be less
of an issue that the game is out there, But to like give you
some indication as to how confusing this is, the publisher sent out like a
lengthy document saying how to find games with humans. Uh, you know,
granted it's you know, it's before the game was out or whatever, so
you know, it's it was not as easy as it will be when when
theoretically people are buying the game and filling out the different modes, but there's
no like quick match button or anything like that. Like even the free play
mode, if you don't get matched up with humans, there are still boughts
there. So it was like this sort of thing where you're like, well,
wait a minute, like you you've in the campaign mode. You're splitting
it like twelve different ways or something like how am I going to find humans?
So they, you know, I wrote, I wrote back, it's
like, hey, how does how do I find people? Because they had
sessions for the review, like like you know, everyone meet up at two
o'clock and I was like okay, So I looked at the menus and when
wait, what do I need to do? So I tried all the different
options and never found humans and finally wrote in and I guess everyone must have
done the same thing, because then the next day they sent out this this
like screenshots of the interface. Yeah, which that can't be a good feeling
when you're like, oh, because that's the information that will not be in
the final game, right, did it seem more? Did it seem okay?
Once they got back to you, like oh okay, No, even
even once you get into the game, it's not explicitly clear if people are
human or not. Oh, it doesn't ever, it doesn't. I mean
you can go into the scoreboard and look at the names of the enemy team,
but the enemy team names only show up in like the death messages.
Otherwise they don't show up over their heads, So you kind of have to
go look and see, like, are these humans are not? Like,
what's what's going on? Did player name play player names of people on your
team show up over the over their heads and stuff? But you know,
it was such a sort of situation like I don't know, you know,
maybe these humans have just gamer tags that just are hernandez or you know,
it's like obviously they don't go for the like silly like online names in the
box. No, okay, No, it's not like Lost Planet. Yeah.
I think it's a similar kind of issue with Lost Planet, where like
you can't really pause the game in a lot of cases because it's it's always
sort of OnLive. Yeah, I think I thought it was going to be
more like was that was a geist we were like people could jump in and
be the bad guys? Is the most recent example of that. I think
that's what I thought, Like it's a single player campaign and like occasionally they'll
be multiplayer guys. It's just kind of I mean, what it what it
really is is it sounds like this is almost almost anachronistic throwback to like eight
or ten years ago when stuff like Battlefield nineteen forty two and Quake three was
coming out where it was a multiplayer only game, except when you're able to
play by yourself, you have. What it really is is it's the next
enemy territory game, right, which which grew directly out of that are right,
yeah, and that kind of and and these are the guys that made
those enimey territory games and and a lot of the way the classes work and
who can disarm what and who can plant what, uh kind of comes directly
from those games. And they still have that stopwatch mode that they kind of
you know, came up with for for those modes as well. So it
really is just this class based, team based multiplayer shooter. But and the
guns just aren't very fun. They give you a kind of a lot of
weapons, but you're kind of left looking at these bars going like, okay,
well, rate of fire is slightly less, but is it less enough
to matter? And do I get more AMMO for this gun than this gun?
Like, they don't let you compare weapons one to one. The most
they give you is that when you add attachments to the weapons, they you
know, the bars change, so you can kind of see like, okay,
this increases rate of fire but lower stability a little bit. I guess
I was expecting and hoping forward like a Meteor single player experience. Yeah,
this is this is not that. And you know where where that whole philosophy
kind of breaks down is. You know, we've entered this era where we're
starting to see downloadable shooters that are multiplayer focused kind of coming along with similar
amounts of content. You know, you put this up against something like Section
eight Prejudice, and I don't think Section eight is is a great game by
any means. I think it's got some some pretty serious issues, but it's
kind of doing its own thing and that's you know, cool in its own
way, and for fifteen bucks, and for fifteen bucks not sixty, right,
So this game just feels like an incredibly poor value because the team is
not four times Section eight Prejudice. No, no, not not in the
least it's it's you know, if anything, if it feels like roughly on
par but you know, it's it's just the guns don't feel right. Like
the grenades just feel like like the green expulsions look like m ads going off,
you know, and and they just kind of knock players down. Are
they even doing any damage? I don't know. I've maybe killed one person
with a grenade the whole time I've been playing the game, because usually it'll
just knock people down and you can go up and finish them off instead,
and that's that's kind of how you get your kills. And it's the weapons
just don't feel meaty, Like the sound isn't great for him, the stability
of the fire just doesn't feel all that great. Like it's it's hard to
know which weapons are going to be the good ones just from the stats.
So you kind of left like shot trying out a bunch of different ones and
it's going like, none of these feel good. But it's the first it's
first person, and there's the park course stuff in it, Is that right,
or just jumping over it's jumping over boxes and jumping up ledges and stuff.
So sliding, yeah, so if you hold down the run button,
you will automatically vault over low cover, so you know that you'll see a
hand to hand stick out and you'll you'll leap over something. Or if you're
kind of looking up at at a ledge as you run up to a wall,
you'll if it's a low enough wall, you'll jump up and grab it
and scramble up on top. And there are body types, so if you
pick a heavy body type, you can't do that as well. If you
pick a light body type you can do it much better. Are be able
to does it in practice workout? Or are people just shooting you as you're
trying to climb up? People just shooting you as you're trying to climb with
the walls and stuff. And usually, like the action is so centered around
one specific area because there's really only one objective going at a time that you
know, you're running up to these firefights, getting these firefights, so it's
really just you're holding out this button to get where you need to go as
fast as you can. Yeah, and you know, if there's crap in
the way, you deal with the crap without having to run around it or
hit the jump button right, otherwise you're just either dead or hiding behind something.
It's a neat idea that doesn't really factor into actually play that game that
well. Yeah, from from what I've played of it, you know,
there's some areas that if you're a light body type, you can mantle up
and get get up higher than than a normal player would be able to.
So theoretically maybe there's some sniper spots you could find that way. I haven't
really found any any situations like that where where it was a huge benefit.
But yeah, you can kind of climb up on top of stuff, and
you can kind of jump over guardrails and banisters and that. But I guess
are there there must be game modes where you're like capture the flag or something
where you're running away something. Yeah, yeah, but it's it's it's there's
not really a game mode in this game. It's like each map has its
objectives. So it'll be like, in this map, this team needs to
guard this giant robot as it rolls across the level, and if it gets
damaged too much, engineers need to repair it to make sure it gets to
this certain point. If you get it all the way at that point,
you get more time on the clock and it moves on to the next objective,
which is like you need engineers to repair this crane, and then the
crane picks up the robot and brings it over this other side, and you
need to guard the robot again, and then it eventually tears open this wall,
and then there's an object in there, which is basically a flag equivalent,
and you need to take that flag to somewhere else to win. So
it's like all these objectives in order. It's kind of disturbing that those objectives
are fixed on each map and there's only eight maps, right, there's only
one style of play, Like yeah, kind of kind of you're gonna burn
through the content, yeah, and like you feel, like I said,
it feels very light on content. It's like eight maps is a decent number
for a multiplayer mode in a full, fully featured shooter, but when that's
all you've got, that's all the assets and and that's all there is to
see. Like it was one of those things where like after my you know,
first kind of full day with it, I was kind of digging through
the menu's going like, well, there's gotta be I mean, there's gotta
be something else in here, Like what's it going on how many folks on
maximu amount of map sixteen eight on eight? Yeah, I hat that seem
a little this seems a little content. I think it's a I think it's
a higher playerccount on PC. It might be if that's the case, Okay,
Yeah, we haven't seen We've only seen the three sixty year so it's
you know, almost you almost wonder if they did the Game of Disservice by
not providing the PC version ahead of time. Yeah, I would. I
would have been really interested to see. I mean, we will definitely I'm
interested to check out the PC version and see kind of if it came out
any better. It seems like they're at least it's just like more shooted for
that platform, even I mean it's not not not even the platform maybe so
much as the audience. Like it seems like that exactly, Like I mean
it's a follow up to Enemy Territory. Yeah, Like it's it's another one
of those games. So it's like they for for everything that they've tried to
do to kind of maybe strip that down a little bit and make it more
appealing. I feel like they haven't done anything with that regarding you know,
it doesn't have vehicles like like Quake Wars did or anything like that, So,
you know, maybe a little smaller game, but it's too bad.
I always really like to look at that game. But the art is cool.
But in game, I think even that looks a little grimy, like
like some of the textures and stuff don't look awesome. Sure, it seems
like a lot of character customization is just kind of lost, like you just
don't really get a chance to see it. You don't have time to really
look at your guy or any of the other guys that closely. But there
are a lot of character customization options, and I think the art style where
the guys is really interesting. Yeah, it's got this this kind of very
stylized, really stylized cool look. Also lots of British voices, Yeah,
a lots of British voices, and they talk all the time. It's it's
it's ethnicities. It's annoying. Yeah, five minutes left, brothers, I'm
going for the objective. Man, he picked up the briefcase. You know,
it's just like, yeah, and in any objective where someone needs to
pick up an item and bring it somewhere, it's always like I'll take the
item. We dropped the item. They were turning the one we picked up
the item. Good. Yeah, this item. I've been looking for that
item, thank you. Uh yeah. So you know, those guys just
talk way too much. You can opt to have that come out of your
headset. It's fault if you want. First time I jumped on a time
that comes out of both for me, really, when you plug it in,
I just immediately as I jumped on, it is like you and this
other guy were talking and all of the bots yet of that all jumbled into
the headset. It was just super disoriented. Yeah, which we Yeah for
a game that you probably want to be chatting with your teammates while you actually
play, Like all that stuff was super annoying. So you guys have seen
this game for like five years, right, like seven seven years years and
two years and like a month ago. Yeah, so a lot of ideas
summer that the Hustle was big. Yeah, that's every summer. Does it
Does it look like the conclusion of what you guys saw during that development?
Well yes, because everything that they said about the game is totally in there.
Like you can hold down this button and vault over stuff and they do
give you an experience point bonus for playing with people. It's just that it's
the way it's implemented. It's just that it's totally another enemy territory game like
like that. It's yeah, it's so, I guess the question is like
if you were crazy about fucking enemy territory, Like, is this gonna appeal?
Like, I don't really know. It's it's hard to say because,
like I said, it is kind of a smaller game than those games were,
and and I think that there probably will be some people in that audience
that that gravitate towards something like this because it is similar but at least it's
sort of new, but because it has to be the draws, Like someone
out there knows that, okay, splash Damage was developed these games. Was
the draw though? Don't you think they would be trying to capitalize on that
as much as possible? Like, at no point have they really I'm saying
that, Well, there's a difference between what the publisher thinks the draw will
be and like who the actual audience is. Yeah, I don't really know.
It came out early, didn't it a week? So maybe they needed
that next week? You know? You know what I just realized, if
it had come out at next week, what else is coming out next week?
Granted, you know, maybe not a lot of overlap in the audiences,
but still and maybe suggesting this was pushed up to get out of the
way, I don't know, and maybe PSN would be back up by then.
Say who can so you want to talk about like a bad version of
that game? Man, it's the PS three version right now, which I
haven't seen it, but that's a shame. Thoughts are terrible. That's all
you got, And that's all you got, Like, come on, like
you don't want to play Brink on the p S three right now? I
mean that that situation is enough of a boondoggle that they put out a statement.
Yeah, they effects said, yes, we are still going to ship
it, like they know how how gimpt the functionality is going to be without
online That's that's a I think they're just screwed, Like they don't really have
a choice. So you're gonna end up with a bunch of players that are
already high level by the time it comes out, because getting to the maximum
level is not difficult. I mean, I guess if they are dedicated to
it or or it's going to be a situation. Well, you're you'll have
a lot of people waiting for PSN to come back up before they buy it,
and by that point of feeling, word of mouth will have kind of
spoken. Yeah. So I'm on a parap phrase here from an email that
we received on this this topic, Like, do you do you think that
like bait? You know, these licensees for for Sony to make PS three
games, you know, they are paying money to put games out on this
platform, and are you know, expect certain things to be true about you
know, functionality of that platform. Yeah, and you know are anticipating you
know, that stuff to then impact their sales, and you know they are
the whole business is predicated on fucking PSN is works and people can play their
games online. Yeah. Uh, Like do you think that these companies could
like sue Sony for damages on this stuff? Like what? Like, I
mean, we don't, I don't really know what the contracts between third parties
and Sony even look like if they if there is that guarantee of an expectation
or you know, or what it is, I don't I doubt it.
I mean because you know, we we we see like kind of the at
least at this point, vague talk of you know, make goods from region
to region to consumers on on PSNS stuff. For that, Sony's gonna have
to figure out something for developers, so like that, especially PSN specific developers.
I mean, it's like the pixel junk guys were coming out and saying
like, hey, if you want to buy a T shirt, that'd be
great. We need to eat. We have no money coming in right now.
Yeah, we're getting you know, emails from people saying like, we've
got this PlayStation Mini ready to go. We're supposed to be out by now,
but we can't launch it yet. So yeah, yeah, what happens
when it finally comes back up? Do they release like twelve games in one
week? I don't know. I think they have to rejigger the whole release
schedule, I guess. So kind of go from there. Didn't have much
like you know, kind of good will for fans, being like it's free
weeks, thanks for coming back, and then like, sorry, devs,
we give away all your stuff for free. I'm not gonna give away well,
Sony wouldn't pay those developers, like if if they did anything for third
party stuff, they would have to like twenty four hours all you can eat
twenty four hours, just download as much as you can. If it's anything
like the old PSM would be about three things. So those awesome speeds,
it sounds like it will be an incredible thing. And then when you actually
get it online interactions may change or what's the SRB thing that always comes up
before you go online, Your online interactions may vary or whatever. Yeah,
we're not be existent. Maybe that's like in the rider for when they signed,
like well what a signing with Sony mean, well you get this,
this and this, this is all subject to change. You know, we
can't guarantee the system speck so you know, we can't guarantee this. It's
like it's right there says you signed it. It's like talking about the fucking
network. That's a good point, you know. It's it's we don't know
what the specifics of that stuff looks like, but I'm sure they're hurting.
Yeah, everybody involved that Christians Fencing from Capcom has definitely aired his grievances.
Said hundreds of thousands, if not millions of dollars being lost, then that's
just for Capcom. And granted they put out more downloadable games than the average
large publisher. Well then also, you know the fighting games is very online
focused, like you know, you can't play Yeah, I think everybody from
right yeah, all that, all that DALC stuff. But even just like
oh if if right now I was going to go and buy you know,
I fight a game, Well, I'm not going to buy PS three version
of right Super Speet Fighter four or NBC three so anything or anything. Yeah,
yeah, I went and pre ordered to three sixty copy of La in
Noir despite the three DVDs versus one Blu ray thing, all that online lairs
even even well, what if if they're getting well, I'm getting it is
that they're talking about there is going to be platform exclusive stuff for the PS
three in La in Noir. I don't know if that's gonna be on the
disc. I don't know if that's gonna be a code that I have to
punch into PS N So yeah, hedge, my bet on the system that
I know is fucking up and round. I wonder if I mean that is
a three disc game. I wonder if it's gonna end up being like the
fortsa situation of install them all adults swap or if they're gonna just go traditional
discs effect style. Yeah, nobody else has done that. Nobody else has
done that yet, it'd be nice if they did. Yeah, so I
here see what the fuck that game is? Yeah for sure. So,
yeah, I played a lot of brink review. Hopefully be up by the
time you hear this. I guess If not, this should be pretty good
jumping off point. Yeah, and there's a quick look up as well if
you want to see a bunch of it. Yeah, I'm trying to think
if I played anything else, I feel like I did. But it's yeah,
it's it's been most it's been a lot of brink and yeah. But
yeah, that that PSN stuff is is is really crazy. I mean you
think about like there was that Infamous beta test was like running or whatever wasn't
that wasn't It was like like for testing out all the user created missions,
and now no one can get in that. Like, games that are in
development are being impacted by this as well. It's not just the people that
are uh, you know, trying to ship things and sell things today,
it's the people that are testing the stuff that we're gonna be playing this holiday
season. So this stuff has impacted the developers specific yeah, network as well,
and crazy. It's uh like that's where it starts to get really crazy
because you know it's it's what impact is it going to have on the stuff
that's coming out in November if they're not able to test this stuff now or
if they're you know, there's this is kind of develop this kind of game
making time if you're looking for holiday release, yeah, and especially it is
demo polishing time if you're getting ready for E three. Yeah. So if
you've got if you've got an online only PlayStation three game that you're gonna be
showing it at at E three. About your fucking hate in life right now,
your listening to podcasts going like I'd be doing work if I could.
Man, especially, I can't decide if I'm super excited for or just need
to close my eyes during the Sony E three press can't. I can't tell
if it's gonna be awesome. You can't joke your way out of this one.
So you can't. You're gonna have a trade full of people that's like
waiting for you to fucking prove anything at all. Daggers at the stage like
Jack Trenton, you can't just come out and act flip about this. I
see. I think I think I brought this up like two weeks ago.
That's how long this has been going up. If there would be a mention
of this at E three, you it's it's snowballs. So now that it's
like two weeks later and that ship's still going on, I think at the
time I said yeah, and I still think, yeah, there's there's a
flip joke about it. That's this is way too serious, dude, I
think there's a joke about it. I mean it's like I don't think.
I don't think network up time. You can't. You can't joke about it
because the whole like, the whole point of that presentation is like strong,
look at the future of like based on our current kick acidness, look at
the cool stuff we're gonna be bringing you in twenty twelve. And importantly it's
a joke about it is to just like ship on the huge number of people
that have been inconvenience or fuck over by this. So maybe you spin it
Internet like we we went back and were stronger than PlayStation Network is stronger and
more secure than ever. It would be crass for them to go out there
and be flipping about it. Do you think Microsoft makes a joke about it.
Yeah, there's one sentence of like and our network works, you know,
yeah, but it's you know, meaningless crap like that. And Nintendo
says like, see, yeah, it's bad. We knew that, we
could that it doesnt seem so stupid now, huh yeah, I know,
put the tinfoil over your Windows Project cafe. Uh. I don't know.
I still think Jack makes some kind of joke about it. They bring Kevin
Butler out and fire him. That's right there, you go like he's the
fault man, make him be the fall guy. Maybe Kevin Butler makes the
joke and that's how they get around it damaging their core brand because he's kind
of a goof anyway. I don't know. I feel like Kevin Butler might
be done. I think that thing is run his course, but I don't
expect them to know that just yet. He didn't have the little kid for
the PSP. Yeah, he did it about as well as the PSP to
Yeah yeah, oh damn, dishing on the I. Although I guess PSP
still you know, selling Gangbusters in Japan, right, Yeah, sure,
that's why Sony thinks we should do more PSP stuff, right, Freshmaker,
They'll have so much MDP stuff to cover at that press conference anyway that you
know, it's it's they're gonna have plenty of thing of cool things to talk
about. But I really think before you mount into the like here is the
future. Yeah, I think they I think they open with like, all
right, especially, I mean, you know, right now they're saying we
expected to be online in May, which then some you know, that led
to a lot of stories of like, well it'll be back up May thirty
first, or like they have there's May thirty first deadline, and then Sony
said like, no, no, no, no, we said sometime in
May. That's it's not anything sooner than that. We hope, like you
know, or something like that. Well, the weird thing is like they
kind of their response to the interpretation of the statement made it sound like it
could go either way. It sound like they're like like, no, no,
no, we're not like we're not saying the guaranteed is going to be
the thirty first, but that's the window we gave. Yeah, it's it
might be like their response almost made it sound like, I mean, could
be sooner or could be wayl imagine if they didn't have full service restored until
the end of May. If the week before you three, you know,
then it's you know, I think the the amount of time that gets devoted
to this situation in their as conference grows as the days tick on. Yeah,
it's probably more of a news item. But have they basically said what
the hell's going on? Have they kind of just I mean's just destroyed holding
everything, you know, like the scratch like have to like I don't know,
but what did they do? The old stuff didn't work, the old
stuff let bad people. A lot of it's just extremely speculatives. It's a
long time. There's a lot of speculation and you know, perhaps semi informed
speculation about the technical side of it. I don't think any of here are
equipped to talk about what exactly happened. But the hackers hacked it, and
Sony couldn't unhack it, so they had to make a new one. So
you think it'll come back and be different. I don't know that the surface
at all, not to you. You don't think it comes back. And
they're like, well, al, we took some extra time, and I
don't know, we figured this would be cooler, like we went back and
like trophies work. I think I think they just need to get that ship
up and any sort of functionality as god damn quickly. You need to be
able to purchase stuff on the PlayStation store as soon as humanly possible. If
that's what's kind of weird or makes it seem so odd, And that's why
I asked it is like, wouldn't you just maybe just roll stuff out in
stages where it's like you can play that. I think that's that was the
plan, is that it was going to be a stage. Well maybe the
store stuff. Yeah, they were saying, like the movie and music stuff
might be rolling out ahead of the like the full functionality. So maybe they
are trying to to stage it in some way. But to my knowledge,
all the PlayStation network is still down. It's crazy. It is at least
open up home. That's where the hackers came from, down the neighborhood,
don't forget, you know, Sooe also still affected by all this stuff as
well. So oh that's right, Like you know that universe online that's just
back up, though, isn't it. Or I don't believe so, well
not if you if you have the PlayStation version right of DC. Well,
yeah, you you can't play version at all. But but I know they
are rolling out like they make good plans for soe stuff. So that's happening.
Bread Show, make any caravel top with the top of those cheese yawns
talk to them about the game. Oh my god, I my mind did
a backflip in the middle of that conversation. I don't know if you noticed
what happened. I think I've been playing way too much Portal because, like
the Aretable, every surface in this portable practically yeah potable like this, this
is a potent Potables. It looks it kind of looks like a test chamber
in here. Oh sure sure. Definitely too much Portal, too many white
walls. So even playing a lot of port two, I played the whole
story again on the Xbox, Yeah, just to do that. And then
I played a bunch of the PC co op last night. That's that's pretty
good. Yeah, I don't know if you've heard, Yeah, no,
I have. People people have mentioned to me that they think PORTA two is
pretty good. Well, the co op specifically is there's a lot of smart
stuff there. But we've talked about that game we have. I do want
to just plug real quickly on the site. Alex Navarro went to a talk
I think at NYU last week where Eric Woopaw talked at length about kind of
process and stuff behind that game. And I know there's there's kind of been
a lot of that stuff. You know, we had our spoiler cast,
there's the Jeff Keeley Portal two iPad app or the Final Hours stuff, so
there's a fair amount of that information kind of already out there. But it's
I still think this, uh, this, this Alex's rundown of that talk
is still pretty interesting and U I think still kind of illuminates some specific stuff
that that hasn't been turned over just yet. When do we get to talk
about that game for real? I don't know. Maybe is everyone done with
it? You're done with it. We don't have to do it today.
There's other No, we're not gonna do it today. I almost feel like
it's probably if it's if it's still if it's still soon enough, we might
just fucking break it out and do something separate so that people can choose to
listen to it and not have it destroyed. Some people were upset at Eve
and how much was said last week, which was nothing at all? Idiots,
what are you gonna do? Play play more Portal too, Yeah,
and some brains snow some mother stuff. It's about some some Lego Pirates to
the Caribbean, Lego Pirates of the Caribbean the video game. I don't think
it's the video game. I think I'm more than Lego Pirates of the Caribbean
the movie. I think it's just Lego The Pirates of the Caribbean, the
album, the ride. Yeah, all right, I'm in I would I
would totally go on Lego Pirates of the Cariboo that that game is pretty good.
It's is it like all of those other games like what what's like?
Yeah? But better alright in some ways that man, they have gotten really
good at making those games like Big E and Surprise, right because they're putting
out like two a year. It is Lego Pirates of the Caribbean the video
is really man, I don't think I tuned that part out. Well,
is it like Lego Pirates of the Caribbean the video game? Like it's Lego
even in like the it's probably just their logos, the big the Big redg
Yeah, yeah, parts of that, and then it's the parts of the
here being Logo and probably somewhere else on the box it says the video video
game, I say three three titles. It's definitely still another one of those
characters, like you know, and all those games are so many different.
I mean, yeah, there should just be must be like a well,
they duplicate a bunch. There's like, there's like Jack Sparrow. There's Jack
Sparrow from the island where the natives painted extra eyeballs in his face. There's
like Elizabeth Swan in undergarments in addition to in regular clothes. Like, they
duplicate a bunch of characters. So yeah, because I can only think of
like who would you want to play at But you know, when we were
playing like The Pirate, that's you know, Lego, Star Wars, the
Clone Wars two or whatever. You know, I don't know who any of
those characters are, but you fill roles with just archetypes at that point,
and and it's still I mean, they all look the same. In the
face, you can't really there's hard Lego. They're hard to tell apart,
you know, But here's a Pioty Lego person. Here's a parody Lego person
that's also a skeleton. Here's a parody Lego person that's also a fitch man.
I also feel like the kind of weird part is that, like Lego
Pirate sets have been around forever, it's not that much special about a Lego
Pirates. Yeah, I don't know. This one and this that Clone Wars
game have convinced me that these games are earning their keep again. Like for
a while it was just like, man, they still sixty fifty. I
don't know, we should check. So what makes it so great? It
looks it feels weird to say it. It looks almost almost amazing, Like
I'm shocked at how good it looks like this in the Clone Wars game,
like I don't know if you saw the quick look if you were here that
week, that was they're cramming. Like in that game, they were cramming
like hundreds of characters on the screen in the kind of crazy not just like
a bunch of weird backdrops, like animating and showing a bunch of characters,
like you can run back there and fight any of those hundreds of dudes.
This one, I mean, they're just doing so much with the engine uh,
you know, a little tricks with depth of field and and HDR and
all that stuff, Like it just looks way better than it should. You
have that crazy split screen again, Yeah, that's totally in there. I'm
not so sure that's actually a good thing. Yeah. I played some of
it two player with my girlfriend, and it's the camera's just not very smart
when it splits, like it'll, it tends to not focus on the character
that is on the side. That does that makes sense? Like, it's
like the character that is starring in the half of the screen that you're playing
tends to kind of sort of swim off to the side. The camera kind
of moves around on its on its own without really focusing on that character.
You get a lot of double images in a lot of cases where you're seeing
the same thing on on both sides of the split. So that gets pretty
disorienting. It's I mean, it seemed like even what we saw from in
the Clone Wars game like there was potential for confusion. Sure. Sure,
So I'm not one hundred percent sure that is a great feature. Is awesome,
I mean, all that's really doing. I think it's I think it
is a great feature. I think what it's really doing is shining a light
on those games having kind of shitty cameras and kind of always having had even
in the single player occasionally like you won't be able to see where you're jumping
very well. I remember that definitely being sequences before, like in past games,
or like I have fucking no idea where I need to be going,
and turns out like, oh well, if I just walked a little bit
to the right, then the camera would have moved and I would have seen
that. Oh there's this whole other area that trial and error still largely rules
those games up to and including this one. You can't I mean, you
can die, you just respond immediately, but you do lose a bunch of
the little studs no permanence, which well, if you're trying to hit like
the milestones, if you're really trying to collect stuff in that game, then
yeah, that's pain in the ass because you need a bunch of those kind
of build pirate ships and stuff. Yeah, but that you can just you
know, do it again. You can. Yeah, you can actually cheat
like a motherfucker in these games. I don't know if you guys have kept
up with how these games work lately, obviously you've not been reading my blog.
No, I need to sign up for your newsletter apparently, but you're
seen Lego Ze. Yes, my Lego video game. So you all the
other games I've had, these red bricks and this one. They're red hats,
but they're basically cheat toggles essentially, like every time you find a red
hat, it gives you a certain cheat toggle like oh, you can build
faster, or enemies drop loot when you kill or you know, money when
you kill them, and those things are really hard to get normally. It
takes a lot of grinding. You gotta get a bunch of money, you
gotta get to a certain level, and then you can go unlock them and
then buy them, or you can just put it in a cheat code like
a six character alpha numeric cheat code and it just gives it to you each
time or one like like once, like you put them all in there and
it's just you've got it. But it doesn't doesn't like disables certain progress stuff
and still do everything. Huh, you can get all. I want to
say in the past that they they've had those for a long time, but
I want to say in the past that they did disable it may be different
with this one because I don't have any of the codes. They're not out
there yet. But once this game has been out for like a week and
all those codes are out there, like you won't have to do a lot
of work to get like most of the stuff, which seems crazy. Yeah,
yeah, it seems crazy, but it's just nice to hear the games
have cheat codes. Yeah, well it's it's kids game based on PG thirteen
movies, so thirteen No, No, the game it's gotta be E ten
plus. Yeah, sword play, I bet E ten plus. True characters
explode when you they're just there's a lot of like neat attention to detail in
there, like the last level of the first movie when you're fighting the Cursed
crew, and like there are like spots of moonlight, and like when they
moved into it, like they very seamlessly turned into skeletons are back when they
step out. Three movies in it. It's all four. It's got the
new one in there. It's kind of weird because that movie is not even
out yet and you can just like play through the storyline, which I'm sure
is really integral to the experience of seeing that movie, but start drinking in
it. Uh, pirates, they gotta call a lot of grog. Actually,
now that you mentioned it, t see mm hm alcohol firearms. Oh
no, no, it's not anyway, it's well made. It's still a
lego game, but it's getting better. I've actually the one thing that's worth
pointing out is they do a lot better about leading, you know, like
they previous games were pretty bad about directing the player. It was just like
smash everything you find until you can build something and then carry it somewhere.
So like when you pick up puzzly like story objects, now you can get
like a little pointer that shows exactly where they need to go. They sort
of direct your attention towards the important stuff a little bit better. Now,
it's good. That was still definitely a problem. I mean it's not perfect.
There's still plenty of situations where you're just like staring at the environment,
like what do I need to hit here to move on? But it's fun.
It's they have created a little cottage industry from there. I can't imagine
how efficient their production pipeline must be at this point. Like those cut scenes
are are fantastic, Yeah, the just the animation and the kind of visual
fidelity. They get people you ever seen tell they've been doing it for a
while. So a review of that forthcoming? Yeah, yes, anything else?
You me to check in with you, Bradley. How's your star Craft
game? Yeah? Not as bad as Norm though, who has declared himself
done? Oh did he fall off? Hard? Doesn't played in like a
month. He doesn't even watch it anymore. I hardly do either. There's
no time. Too many other games we have to cover. He's hard.
Stop. Yeah, I play a lot of three v three now because that's
a pretty low impact. You can just get in there, fuck around.
If it's if that's Norm. If Norm's not at the top of his game,
he wants nothing to do with it. Oh that's the thing. He
cares more about winning than having fun. So if he's not winning and he's
not playing and he's not having fun, did he ever finish a single player?
I don't. I don't think. I don't think he ever played it.
I don't think he ever started it. Christ Yeah, going down the
Blizzard in two weeks to see that Zerig expansion and then you're right back in
it. So well they're only showing no. I suspect that if whatever you
see there. No matter what it is, you will come back originally probably
you know, hit the little taste, hit hit the post e three lull.
Remember you can's you can't do as much as you think you can do
it. Just gotta ease back into it for a couple of matches. You
don't want to stretch, Make sure a stretch a little bit before. Get
right back into the exact amount you were into before. Ye know, your
metabolism is different now, will pull anything. Yeah, breathing exercises get you
out. Uh. Here, I played some Dungeon Siege three last week with
the couple of folks from Obsidian. Came through the office. Got a big
old big al along quick look with that mofo. That's a that's a dungeon
crawler. Yeah yeah, Oh then you did something. It was a daggerdail
yea quiok that up? That's uh? Is that out this week? They
haven't announced the date for that. Okay, here here sutish Okay. One
of those is dungeons Dragons. One of the other one the one definitely uh
kind of may a little more like you know, kind of mechanical business in
Dungeon Siege. Uh, you know more clockwork kind of so in terms of
the the aesthetic and yeah, the fiction and all that's like, Daggerdale was
like, man, that's dungeons. It was straight up if you are in
a dungeon, I wonder if there's even a drag. Maybe there's a dragon
at the end, the end, the motherfucking dragon that shoots daggers instead of
fire. I was, I love the names. Welcome to dagger Dale.
I love the name Daggerdale. I was. I was, Apparently I was
incorrect in the quick look Daggerdale is an existing place creates in the Forgotten Realms.
I was shaken to my fucking core to find out that Elminster is dead.
Mother anybody else that there is had no idea assistant fiction and timeline specifically
that that guy. But that guy's like the Gandolf of Forgotten Realms. Does
he truly dies? I don't know. Maybe because Element Store the White is
going to show up, right, I think I like you in that quick
look was it was kind of shocked that when they do a new like rule
set or revision, that they update the story. Yeah, there's like there's
like timeline and story attached that I thought. It was literally just like all
right, here's how Faco balance is out now, or here's what it means
when you're rolling Natural twenty or something. I don't I don't know what I'm
talking about, but point being, I didn't realize. Yeah, like there
was sort of an update to the universe. Want to check it out?
Ye, kind of Dexdale, Dungeons and Dragons, dagger Dale Nisville used.
I used to read so many D and D books when I was like fourteen.
Works at the devil Man. Yeah, yeah, look how you turned
out? Yeah, devil. I had a teacher who wants that I had
to burn all the D and D stuff because it was for the devil.
She wanted me to burn it, like literally burn it, like bring it
to a house, will burn it. What was your response to that?
It's my brothers, I can't do that. It's let's make birdhouses. This
is weird, you know what, Vinie. Let's make birdhouses. And if
by birdhouses you mean take a quick do you want to make a birdhouse.
I'm gonna go make a birdhouse. We're gonna make bird Hey, you guys
just want you got the peanut butter, I'll get the the sesame seats.
It's gonna make a birdhouse. Yeah, I just wanted to mention the chair
folks came through this morning real quick. That's true. The mustards break our
iPad cherry on this podcast. If we talked about I don't know what the
deal. What's what we talk about? Yeah, we can we talk about
why they were here. I don't know if you know what tightly wrapped up
to guess I guess we shouldn't really screwed this up art. Yeah, well,
it's an update to a game poison our relationship. There's an update to
the family, which is more that you can't talk about. I don't think
that's under embargo. There will be new stuff coming to Infinity Blade the Baby.
You're right, I forgot. We can't really go into a lot of
detail there. But all right, well let's let's take a break and get
our story straight and then come back with ore of the Giant podcasts after this.
All right, we're back. That was a disastrous bird house building session.
I would say, are you talking about Vinny? You made a cuckoo
clock, which bird was a for effort, and Jeff just put a cardboard
box around his hand and then flipped everyone with the bird and the code Bread
made a house out of birds, which I don't think a bird would ever
go inside of. I think that's a pretty strong warning sign for most birds.
A bird, you wouldn't have fitt in that house then either. So
so we'll come back later, we'll figure out this whole birdhouse building thing.
What did you build? Until then? I didn't come up with anything for
me to build. I came. I came up with three. Those are
pretty good rule of three. But I did come up with a fourth where
I built some news. This is all good today. Those are great,
Thank you. It's just transitions, smooth Segus. It's great. It's great
stuff. Uh we price drop one forty nine, get yourself a wee and
a copy of a game. I have a week. You have then you
don't need this. Okay, this is not for you for people that don't
have a week. So they're changing up. Mario Kart and the wheel are
what they are now packing in forty nine. It's really uncool. Well,
i'll tell you the weirder thing. Well, you know, for the audience
that would buy a wee for one hundred and fifty dollars at this point,
Mario Kart, it's not a terrible kind of pack in for that, you
know, it's better WE Sports here. Here's the weirder thing about all of
this is that they are now selling WE Sports as a stand alone product for
nineteen ninety nine. I don't know how, you, I don't know how.
But like with the millions of weeds that are already out there, that
all of which came with a copy of WE Sports, at least in theory,
right, yeah, yeah, like they've never sold that well, I
guess, I don't know if you started coming with WE Sports resort, right
they started coming with this the second one, which they guess they they're phasing
out. In all this, I think it makes it makes perfect sense at
this point to start offering WE Sports is a separate game, because not only
do you have people that didn't get it when they got their Wei, but
you know, it's like they're probably like a bunch of used Weeze changing hands
and in some cases people probably set that disc on fire by mistake or something.
So if people want to experience some of the best that the we has
ever had to offer, the game that came with it when it launched,
pretty good, Does a New Week come with a Motion Plus. Yeah,
that's packed. That's one control. I believe that's the case. Yeah,
okay, that had been I I see nothing on the packaging for the soft
gave released since then to say one way or the other. But it is
black, isn't it. Don't think you can get a black one world one
either way. Also, they're launching you know, value line budget lineup,
Animal Crossing, City Folk, Mario, Super Sluggers, Legend of Zelda,
Twilight Princess, and we Sports for twenty buck as well. I bet the
Motion plus controller thing doesn't fit in the wheel. I can't, right,
Well, that's they don't. It's built into the controller now now it's just
it's a WEE controller. It's the it's a week so yeah, they integrated
that into the actual thing a while ago. Yeah. Is that what they
sell now? Yeah, that's what you get. I think you can still
get the controller attachments if you really want it, really want it. Yeah,
don't get it. Mass Pick three has been delayed into early twenty twelve.
Yes, that's no longer coming out of this year, which generally I
think that's great positive thing. Uh give you know, spend more time making
the game. And then also we don't have to worry about that game when
we're also worrying about sky Rim and everybody is a winner and I'm Charted three
and new Assassin's Creed which got announced last week. Batman, if there's a
lot of games, I never understand upset over delays because I don't know.
I want to play Mass Effect three. Yeah, but do you want?
I mean, clearly the people who are making the game feel that in the
more time is needed to make it properly. Wait, no, it's not
good. I don't like it, but there, but to be fair,
Splash Damage has a long storied history of delaying the ship out of their games
and then they end up not being very good. So you know, fool
you. Once people liked Quake Wars, it was not for everyone, but
someone will like bring Yeah, I think it'd be a small number of people.
I think it'll be a smaller number of people than liked Quake Wars.
I don't remember that many people liking Quake Wars. Yeah. A lot of
people like ET Yeah, because guess what, it was free? Right?
But also I mean not saying it's bad, But what are your feelings,
brad On, how do you feel Mass Effect is what are you scared about
how it's gonna turn out? Yeah, well, we can't talk about this
without also addressing the John Rick Tello comments right, comments about do you have
that story up? I can't remember exactly how he phrased it. I have
is Casey Hudson Hudson from by aware of saying that development team is laser focused
on making a mess fectory is totally fucking awesome. That's great. Yeah,
type wartime take all the time you need to make it greatly all the time.
You need to make sure there's at least twenty hours of dialogue in there,
and not like say three I never I never saw, I never directly
saw what the Ricketello quote was. I can't remember how he phrased it,
but it was something something you know, shooting. Well, no, he
didn't say anything about shooting. He said like, were we are investigating ways
too, or maybe we are applying ways to make this appeal to a more
mainstream or a broader mainstream audience. Yeah, you know, third game in
a trilogy, that's the perfect time for up to jump and jump on board.
I mean, I just pulling back from this a little bit broadly.
I have been worried about this getting the dragon Age two treatment because they're whipping
through it and you know, it's going to have been about eighteen months since
the last mass effect a little more, but you know, with certification time
and all that, like they will have cranked out Masfect three and like eighteen
months not now because they have delated it, which seems like it's for the
best. Yeah, but it is the third game in a series that is,
and not on a new console, sir. The pipeline has has hopefully
refined and all that stuff. But I mean there's a lot in those games.
There's a lot you have dialogue to write and record and hopefully make a
lot, generate a lot of assets. Yeah, a lot of places hopefully
that you're gonna go. Yeah, hopefully it'd be awesome. Maybe just space
dungeon and this we've walled off this s's actually just like these gray Bricks,
which actually in the Dragon Age Dungeons, you're actually just made everything neon globe.
But if that was just a side quest where you are teleported into the
world of Dragon Age two, and it's just like, I mean, don't
forget like most of those like the actual you know the world areas you would
go in in Mass Effect two are pretty small. Yeah, they're very very
constrained, right, but at least they're they're nicely varied. You know,
you got to a lot of different planets. They look very different. That's
true. That's true. Like, well, like, what how would you
feel if the majority of Massifactory took place on Earth? It'd be cool as
long as the places are different. Who knows what Earth is like? And
yeah, that saw big Ben. Yeah, but you know, that could
be really cool if the story justifies that and they're able to turn that into
like a full Mass Effect to length game and make it interesting and varied,
that's fine. I'm not I don't care enough, Like I want them to
do right by Massive, by the series. And if they think the best
story to tell is putting most of that game on Earth, and if they
could back that up with the level of variety and stuff we saw in Aspect
two plus hopefully a little more, then that's great. Sure, Like nothing
as simple as like what if it all took place on one planet is gonna
immediately throw it off as long as long as the impetus for that started with
the story. Because most of that game is indoor environments anyway, Yeah,
very rarely are you like these like amazing crazy looking jungle plants pretty nice,
especially like that stuff at the end of the Shadow Broker and stuff like,
they can get pretty crazy with those environments. Yeah, but you can make
that environment on Earth. Who knows what kind of crazy the core of the
Earth. I mean, I well, part of what I love about that
series is the ability to fly around and do other stuff right right, But
but to be fair, most of the do other stuff was kind of shitty,
like sitty and slightly different ways. Two had a lot of decent mining.
This is just what I'm talking about. Oh yeah, mining, and
which was kind of like one of the main reasons why you would go and
like try to explore stuff other than like there's a plant that I know,
I have a mission and on and I will go to that. But there
are a lot of side missions that you know, I like, I like
finding the random side missions. I guess like how they present. How I
approach side missions doesn't concern me as much, like I don't the whole like
I'm gonna fly my little ship through this, you know, fake universe,
and then oh but I gotta go get gas because I don't have enough space
gas, like a horrible case of space I just you know, I if
I like walked up to Normandy and then right there, it's like, all
right, you have these four missions, which one do you want to go
do? They're each on different planets, I don't know. And then you
showed me a cut scene of the Normandy going through the you know, the
mass effect gate or whatever, and then you got to take an elevator load
scene. I'm just saying, and then I'm on the next place. That
would be okay too, I would That wouldn't bother me. I want I
want my own space ship. I want to be on the show like that.
Yeah, I want. You need to be on the ship's suggesting not
walking around the ship. Oh no way. You gotta be able to get
that. Maybe you'll have a big car that's like exploring that ship and talking
to the people on it and getting their thoughts on the current state of the
missions. Because there was one at the end of two, so at least
for a little bit, this gotta be some kind of Normandy having a Normandy
at the start of mass efect, having a ship, having having a ship
and feeling like it's your home and it's it's like a living environment. It's
like one of my favorite things about that. Maybe it'll orbit Earth and you'll
drop from there and do stuff. Who knows. It's all a speculation,
but I will say it's just X Calm at that point. Yeah, I
like that. Heard sh about that two k X calms, Like, get
on that instead of a ship. If he was like x Common, he
had your own like Jjoe bass or something like that, I'd be down with
that. With a lift, you know, put put the makeo up on
the lift and watch it go up and down. Yeah. Yeah, So
the strength of mass effect having played through that was the latest last DLC,
which was the rival. When that game sucks is when you're by yourself and
like it becomes a single. If they just put Shepherd out there to drive
to dry and there's no more of that party stuff that well, I can't
see that. I don't they did it in that thing. I'm saying like
that, you'll really find out when the where the strengths are mass effect is,
and I mean not a surprise. It's it's in the character interactions and
all the party stuff, which is awesome and how people react to Shepherd,
and how Shepherd reacts to them when he's alone just shooting dudes. It gets
kind of there are better shooters out there. I still have faith, so
I'm better now. I'm still willing to give them the benefit of the doubt.
Yes, you know, Dragon Age two was not quiet what it was
supposed to be. But I you know, Dragon Age one didn't really click
with me either, So like that's that happening, doesn't you know, rattle
me to my core or whatever? You know, the Mass Effect team has
been good to me, and uh, you know, I I'll see what
they have to do, you know, with what they have to say.
The lay is encouraging, but the comments not as much. But you know,
if they make the shooting and that came better. Like, I don't
think anyone loses, No, it's only if if it comes at the expense
of other stuff. I'm worried. I'm I'm specifically worried about you know,
something being don't I don't think. I don't think broadening the appeal of that
game, I don't. I don't think you get there by stripping out the
things that fearing to broaden the appeal by taking out all that talk and yeah,
I mean if they just like ship Gears of War with Shepherd and Rex,
like that might work as a separate multiplayer focused game, but that's what
they ship as Mass Factory. Literally just sent chills up my spots. But
that's like what you need that for, like fucking commercials and stuff. You
can't if the game is just shooting dudes, you can't. If that's a
harder game to like selling, market more talking makes that game more marketable.
And Christina Norman was recently on Twitter. I guess some comments she had been
made had been taking a context that she did not care for, and went
out and cleared the air. Basically people saying like, like taking her her
comments is meaning that they were going to reduce like the RPG elements in that
game, and she's like, that's not what I meant at all. What
I meant is that we're going to try and contextualize them and make them more
meaningful to the actual actions that you are doing in the game. So so
so we're jumping, Yeah it will if if Shepherd jumps, I'm done.
I have no interest in a jumping Shepherd. What about kind of if if
there's like a little like a low step, but about that's the edge of
the world. I don't know that. Don't want to see what Shepherd looks
like jumping like what sort of just like this this awful crazy little like yeah,
ump, situation suits too heavy, man, I don't think he jump
in that thing, pulls the right trigger, kicks the guy out of window,
and then that's it. Yeah, there's a left trigger already, forgot
that left right the back. Yeah, that's right, yeah, right,
always right. I just know because I'm just clack clack right. I don't
whatever comes up, I'm ready. But while we're on the topic of BioWare
stuff, Rick Tello, I guess it's all coming out of recent earning.
Uh. Star Wars Old Republic is to come out before March thirty one,
twenty twelve. March thirty first, twenty twelve, at least that's what they're
saying right now. Yeah, this fiscal year, this fiscal year, that
game is gonna come out. So they say, is that given need a
holiday launch? Do you think? I don't even know matters. I don't
know what that game needs. I don't know. I mean, is it
bigger than that? It's what I'm saying. I don't know. Do they
need that boost? I can't even tell if they just I can't even tell
if that game is big anymore. It's the release of that game like an
event unto itself. Well, it's hard to think, it's hard to tell.
Like, you know, are are a lot of people excited about that
game and still a lot of people still a lot of people still really like
Star Wars. Yeah, a lot of people still real like Star war Wars.
Yeah, yeah, I just can't. I can't sell anymore. Has
it been an ask for consoles? Is that just that's for personal computer?
God? I can't Who posted that scathing preview a week or two ago?
I didn't you guys see that? Jeff? What I wish like Star Wars
more like Star Boars Star Snores. Someone say bad things about Old Republic.
Some publication that I cannot recall at the moment called it one of the most
boring games they've played in years. I don't know. Last time I played
it, I played like every other MMO in the world. The story bits
to keep other players from running in while you're in the middle of a cut
scene like that. But that was a year ago, you know, And
who knows what that game even is, and and like we've we've stopped going
and seeing that game because seeing MMOs in you know, fifteen thirty minute chunks
kind of pointless. And you had they had some kind of larger thing where
they let people play it for like here you play the first four hours,
like yeah, even like an entire day. I mean you want like a
good couple of weeks that you can keep going back to the same character and
like really good a feel for the progression and stuff. I hope that game
comes with the e A Online pass. Oh you bought to use I can't
use PC games. Don't be weird? Oh weird. I had to enter
this code the play It's an extra ten bucks. You have to buy it
through the EA downloader. It's always a treat, always a treat. Yeah,
that game is in this weird limbo. Now for me where it's like
I will be interested in seeing that game when it is complete, I am.
I am interested in that game in a purely academic fucking format at this
point. Same here, or like I'm curious to see how people react to
this. I'm curious see what that game actually is, you know, like
I you know, will this will this really matter. Telling me you're making
a Star Wars video game doesn't doesn't do anything for me personally, But yes,
I'm with you. I'm very curious to see what this does, and
I'm even more interested it does for EA. And yeah, in those parts
of it of they've spent a lot of time and a lot of fucking money
and a lot of resources on building this thing, and they have clearly very
high hopes for what this is going to do for them for as a business,
and I have to wonder what the implications are for EA as a business.
The BioWare units specifically as a business. Uh, you know, Rickeatello's
role in the organization as being kind of the you know, the do who
approved this stuff? Everything hangs in the balance kind of a little bit kind
of this is this is kind of linchpin. Everyone involved. It seems like
has put their chift theoretical nuts on the table. It seems that way.
But you know, it's always great our Konami press conferences. That was pretty
good one. That's all right, thank you, thank you? Why well,
I was using it ironically because Konami press conferences are fucking awful. I
don't know, constantly consistently over the years. Last year was that one with
the announced def Jam Rap Star. That one was pretty good. Last year,
they there was an inflection point like they crossed over, so the meter
circled back around to oh wait, this is actually amazing, but not for
any of the reasons they expected it, just like it became so bizarre and
terrible that it became amazing. So they live streamed that on the internet last
year. So they have like the worst possible, Like they're their press conferences
are during E three, Like during the show. None of us saw that
because we were doing to go see the games. The problem there is that
you know, like the ESA only gives out some of the press conferences and
they didn't get one, so they just have their own thing on the floor
or like in the building. Yeah, and what are they doing now?
Uh? They will be again live streaming up. But they're also organizing viewing
parties around the globe. Takes place before Yeah, this is actually the week
before E three happens, So yeah, June second, which is the Thursday
before uh Electronic three. They're setting up viewing parties in San Francisco, Los
Angeles, Toronto, Saupolo, and Mexico City, among others. Like what
so I wonder if if this is Danna Montana like live concert experience, if
this is them like like finding some kind of self awareness, and if that
self awareness will ruin the potential for the for this to even be like accidentally
entertaining. I don't think they're I don't think anybody there was like, oh
man, our press conferences had become a giant joke. Let's like make a
party out of it, like we're a meme kind of Like yeah, but
they but they are a joke and there has to be some amount of awareness
about that. It's if they were to come to that realization, I don't
think they would feel proud about it and want to exploit it. Yeah,
it's never for the right reason. This is this has to be. I
mean, I don't think you try and do something like this unless you have
something. This is just middle get big announcement. It's got to be and
it has to be more than rising. Also, it was announced two years
ago, like more rising information. If that's not playable at E three this
year, something is just wrong. It has to be middle your solid five.
I'm totally expecting MGS five. Yeah, or come to my viewing party
and find out. Okay, it was the week before you three, the
weekend before Thursday before, Yes, so it'll be a viewing slash suicide party.
So where your track pants? Okay, and take ourselves out of you
There where some nikes? Yeah, if you If you guys could avoid killing
yourselves until after three, I would really appreciate it. Ah, we're nothing
worse than a fake suicide. Already been to like five of those. Yeah,
I was just kidding everybody at home. I'm just kidding everyone at home.
Suicide parties are awesome. I mean, join my cult. Uh do
you have to pay a view? Where can I find? Where is all
this information? Canami dot com the Internet? What I don't get that?
Canomy dot com slash the Internet? Yeah, the Internet, dot com slash
Konami slash the Internet, Tilda slash the Internet. So it's their user account,
there's like they're that's right. So it's it's on their cell the shell
accounts. So yeah, I can't even imagine what I don't. I don't
think this will be as great as people who really enjoyed last year's press conference
will think it is. I just don't think it can be well again,
it was because because you know, it has to creep up on you.
That only worked because zero expectations. Right, It's like, here's this thing
that no one wanted to go to, but some people ended up kind of
wishing they went to because it was so messed up. It was pretty messed
up, and it did not necessarily. I can't imagine that anything that happened
in that press conference or anything that was remembered from that press conference sold copies
of games. So that's that has to be extremely true. U. So
I don't think you do one of these and try to capitalize on that aspect
of it. I think you you you come out swinging and say like,
hey man, we used to be able to put out DVDs with people reacting
to trailers from press conferences, but we kind of can't do that anymore.
So we're going to get the public involved because they're easily excited. So we'll
have cameras at people walking out of this thing saying what did you think of
metal gear? Blah blah blah. They got to film my viewing party,
Yeah, you view you. The only way that canomy executives can get off
anymore is watching someone else watching their press conference. Do you want to come
to view and party? I like it when the swarthy one smile. I
have the I have the middle Gear Solid to the trailer DVD. I'll bring
it over that. Its incredible how much both the industry and Konami has changed
since you know, they were able to pull stuff off like that. I
don't know that that's the same, you know, No, it's not meddle
gear doesn't matter as much as it once did. Yeah, I mean there's
still there's fond memory for it. But like the impact of you know,
the first middle Gear Solid had significant impact on the way games were made.
No, You're Solid for not so much, certainly. You know, by
by the time you get there, it's it's you know, it doesn't have
that same level of sway, at least not you know, in a kind
of modern yeah, all the kind of way. I really enjoyed him just
four. But yeah, you're you're right, it's yeah, totally, it's
fine. But it's a great game. It felt like, you know,
there's all there. There's a lot of holdover shit in that game that that
did not necessarily feel completely modern. Ye was a very good looking game that
it was bad and you know, fucking completely god damn crazy. Yes,
in a way, that's what I loved about it. Yeah, absolutely,
you'll, you know, you'll, you'll take a lot just for a little
bit of good old fashioned crazy. Uh speaking of crazy, super meat Boy
Level Editor coming at you. That's crazy. Uh, you'll be able to.
So they're saying, I don't know when this is coming out. Let's
come to the PC. Is it out? Now? It's out? I
think it's all right. I didn't see a date on any of this stuff,
so I wasn't sure. Uh. Free update for Super Meat Boy Level
Editor that includes cludes all of like the art from the game. You could,
you can. They're saying that you can make any level in that game
other than the warp zones and the boss fights using the level Editor, and
then you upload them to through the Super Meat World and then uh, users
will and you'll also be able to use any of the twenty characters that are
in the game, even if you haven't unlocked them yet. You can title
your levels, create like strings of levels, I believe, make your own
music in the like. I don't know how that. I don't know how
the how the music stuff I don't know if you're are. I can't imagine
you're seeking getting some good music. I imagine you're probably dropping an MP three
into a folder somewhere, but I don't. I don't know, Okay,
I don't know. I would be don't have the PC VERSU copy boy uh
levels like aha, and like copyrighted music. I'd be just like just like
track Mania. At that point, Great said this all like German house music
or something. I just love it be hardcore. I just love that they
call it super Meat World. Yeah. I love that they're taking the like
the Mario Yeah inspiration as far as the possibly can. The cash is that
you have to have finished like I think you have to finish the first two
Worlds or get twenty bandages the super Meat World, So you can't just like
that. You're right, but I already played through that stuff on the three
sixties, and I'll have to go back like repeat a bunch of stuff,
and there would be like user rating system or there is a user rating system
in there, and the pretty sure it's out the staff is UH is also
doing kind of top picks as well. I guess part of this announcement it
was also that they have no intention of doing a sequel to the Super Meat
Boy. I believe they've said that before, but this is them kind of
reiterating that fact that good, this is the This is kind of like,
okay, we okay, this is all that we're gonna do to this fucking
game. We've we've done a lot. We're done. Uh yeah. Worth
noting, you know, not gonna happen on the XPLA version because there's no
I can't do like unchecked, well, they do us creator push out those
levels over the little portal. They're gonna keep putting out levels, they said,
but as far as the like level editor personality and be able to submit
and stuff like, that's not going to be there. I just I wonder
if they'll push out at the user levels over that thing. They make it
sound like they are going to keep supporting it, and it's it's kind of
implied that that could be with user created levels. But that's that cool?
Are We hinted at this a little bit earlier. Assassin's Creed Revelations announced last
week. What what I was so, I was kind of anticipating that the
next game they were gonna announce was going to be Assassin's Creed three. Yeah,
this is not it. This is Assassin's Creed two three? What San
Andreas? This is? This is the third Assassin's Creed two Okay, World
two three. Uh they're saying the final uh adventures with et ceo. Oh
it's confirmedo is it's it's a yeah, he's gonna revelate like a mofo uh
potentially alongside that's all tire kind in Constantinople. So so which action moves to
Constantinople? Did they say anything about how, I'll tell you it's gonna be
integrated. But it's it's it's I am speculating here, But what seems to
be implied is that or what I'm what I'm expecting out of this is that
you will be seeing uh, the events in Constantinople in different time period.
Yeah, as you were saying that, I've kind of concluded into that,
I mean geographically, like that's a good midway point between you know, Jerusalem,
and you don't think they'll be like solving puzzles by going back to altiyear.
I do I do not believe that. I do not believe that I
will say this, I really, I really hope that's not what it is.
That's exactly what it is. I hope that it's for like story structure
stuff what I also hope it's gonna be actually just like Sonic CD, like
you'll run past a sign past and then if et CEO runs really quickly,
he'll eventually like go back in time and you'll be all here for a while.
I also hope that, you know, we don't lose the Brotherhood mechanics
from Yeah, I don't know. I can kind of see that going away
if he's like leaving Italy. Well, like the the the art that they
have put out there of et CEO, he is older, like this is
this is approaching old man et CEO at this point, Well, it's always
still Desmond, right, we're all yes, I guess. And after whatever
happened in Brotherhood, like I don't I don't even know what you're going to
show in the Desmond parts. That's and which which again, after the events
of Assassins Creed Brotherhood is maybe the story threat. I am most interested in
seeing what the fuck is going on with Desmond. Yes, yes, uh,
but you know I was super skeptical about Assassin's Creed Brotherhood and that turned
out fucking totally awesome. So, you know, I feel like they're kind
of raising the stakes for for potential disappointment yet again, but they haven't really
boned yet, so alright, alright, and I have my personal doubts about
some of these decisions, but so far you've been good. So I don't
know. The whole thing just feels kind of cheap. But so did Brotherhood,
Like that was the thing. It was It wasn't wasn't until I played
Brotherhood's multip player about a year ago. Yeah, and I was like,
oh wait, this is actually awesome. Yeah, sure, and that that
that kind of and this may very well be a fine game too, but
like they can only put out so many of these before it's just like,
all right enough the name is if it's still good, Like we've had enough.
It's revelations. Man, who knows what they're gonna on? Well,
it's been good about it is that they have been making really drastic changes to
the way those games handle from game to game, Like the Brotherhood mechanic and
multiplayer in Brotherhood are significant steps over as had the screen tips. Do you
feel like they I hate to use the word perfected, but do you feel
like they refined it enough in Brotherhood that to significantly change it further would be
kind of counterproductive. It's hard to say without knowing how if this game works,
you know, yeah, without knowing what the mechanic is, like if
it is a lot of time travel puzzle solving of like is it. Do
you have a situation where like, Okay, you're playing is Desmond through et
ceo stuff, but then he starts tripping out and seeing all the year stuff,
and then that's how et Ceo solves those because he sees alta Ear solving
a puzzle, goes like, oh, I need to do it this way,
and you end up a lot of a lot of cases where like you
see ghost alta Ear jumping and pulling switches and you're like, oh, that's
what I need to do it. If that's what it is, like,
I'm I am not necessarily interested in that. I like, I like the
sound of what you propose with like the two different time periods and stuff.
But the fear is that they're gonna like change some minor window dressing on those
on the city environments and say, hey, it's three four hundred years later.
I think you know, well, I think you're gonna have They're gonna
have to make some significant changes to the aesthetic of the world by going to
Constantinople and and sure from the previous games, but I'm worried about like like
two time periods and they don't actually put that much potentially potentially. Oh,
I haven't played Brotherhood. I don't know. Let's well, I mean somewhere
yeah, yeah, but he'll be out of an animist running around doing something.
Oh, I thought you were proposing he would be climbing around Constantinople or
whatever the modern Bay equivalent is. Yeah, that's that's what Really, that's
what he's proposed. I didn't know if it has gotten to that point yet,
you know, that could be happening. I don't I finished that game.
I'm not sure if that's possible, either one way or the other.
But I would love to know when the first game came out, what the
plan was for an arc, like a story arc for this, like how
close are they to that arc or more or more more specifically, how much
that they deluded that plan by cramming in these Like I don't know much about
writing trilogies, but I feel like you are are writing pretty broadly outside of
like the whatever you're your first to get. I don't think the plotting is
ever that tight. I think it's like, you know, need to account
for things are going to change, and you're gonna find out that some people
are going to react to certain elements better than others, so you know,
you don't lock yourself into hard choices like that. I just back when Assassin's
Creed meant, or at least kind of seemed to promise like a different character
in a different historical period. With every iteration, it seemed like one of
the most exciting things going, and it's kind of not turned out that way.
I like that they've been they've been making better. Yeah, they found
a really great like Altar was a dick, and they found a really great
and interesting character in et CEO. So I don't like, you had one
shitty one and then one really good one. I don't blame you for you
know he's writing that one. I'll tell you it was not much of a
character at all, No to his only characteristic was he was kind of a
dick. He was kind of a dick. You got the job done,
that was it. I liked the tone of that first game a lot more
than again. Haven't played Brotherhood, but two felt kind of comic Bookie to
me, if that makes sense. You know, she's definitely a lot lighter.
Yeah, yeah, it was a lot more lighthearted. Like, well,
don't forget how stupid the end of the first one got. They got
pretty so yeah, I guess they all. They all get kind of stupid.
Fair to be fair? Is there any kind of a date or or
see more? I'm sure it's more three? Okay, and then play it
November. We're looking for a summer downloadable age, remember the new Summer does?
Does anyone not agree this has to be it? They've they've agreed.
It's a trilogy within a trilogy. Yeah, like I said, Creed two
Part three, Assassins Creed is this one's a Hood movie. And you can
eat Hamburgers and then go lift weights. You get a jet pack, Assassin's
Creed of Assassin's Creed, all the graffiti around and yes exactly the food of
Constantinople makes you all fat. Now we can't climb around, so good.
I guess you can't blame him. I mean, did you guys see what
brotherhoods sold? It was like over five million. Great game. I mean,
I'm not saying it doesn't deserve it, you know, I just hope
that there is like some you know, whether it's a small team that will
get bigger as time goes on, or you know, there needs to be
some kind of strike forced strike forced top of the top guys sitting there going
like, all right, here's what Assassin's the Creed three is really going to
be and and specking out that game and starting to work on that while these
other guys are are working on and that's gonna be like next level shit,
that's gonna be like you know, new engine. Like at this rate,
you know, that could be next console. Yes, pet somewhere all right,
et CEO is his face is going to be on the sixteenth screen that
you're holding your hand, right, and then if he gets cut up,
you have to apply cotton to stop the bleeding on his face. You have
to touch his face. I like that. There you go, it's made
the new punch Out game for the next Nintendo system. I'm on board.
I'm the virtual cut man. Uh so yeah. As mentioned earlier, PlayStation
network still down and last week Sody came out and I believe it was during
the setate hearing stuff. Uh said that basically, yeah, we have reason
to believe that, you know, the group, the hacker group Anonymous responsible
for this because there was a file left on one of their servers that they
found that was titled Anonymous, and inside it said we are legion. And
then Anonymous has come back and said, ain't us like, yeah, we
are kind of we're decentralized. I will read a chuckled the statement that we've
quoted in our news story here. If a legitimate and honest investigation into the
credit card theft, it's continued Anonymous will not be found liable. While we
are distributed and decentralized group, our leadership does not condone credit card theft.
We are concerned with erosion of privacy and fair use, the spread of corporate
feudalism, the abuse of piacht power, and the justification of executives and leaders
who believe themselves immune personally and financially for the actions of the undertake in the
name of corporations and public office. This is a statement from Anonymous. From
Anonymous put this statement out. But so you know, there's theory flying around
like crazy right now that there's like splinter groups of anonymous that we're acting as
this, or that there was some other even more diabolical hackers that were using
the anonymous uh like denialist service stuff that was going on. Those ones aren't
doing it for the as as smokescreen for their operation and kind of you know
if the part about being a decentralized anonymous organization is that it's easy for an
organization to suggest that yeah, you did it, yeah, without you you
know, being able to. It's also easy for your group to be infiltrated
by a bunch of you know, underworld thugs looking to make a bunch of
money off of your hacking talents. Certainly, and like who know, you
know, Russian mafia could be piggybacking off of a bunch of kids running low
orbit I on Canada at this point, who can say? And they also
suggest all the way, they also suggest that this would not be the first
time that you know, they have been pinned with something that had absolutely nothing
to do with them Anonymous well using like now like anonymous like sites are being
taken down by other factions of anonymous supposedly also using name like anols down today
really yeah, now I can't check out your image blogs. I know,
using those owls look so hungover it's hilarious. I can't tell sides using name
like anonymous that's used in other things. If you say we are a legion
anonymous, that doesn't mean that it's anonymous. I mean we were you know.
Yeah, I've me and a friend of mine called up a bunch of
local BBSs and erased all the messages and then pretended to be my friend in
such an obvious way that there's no way they could have thought it was him,
but then they figured out him. Double spoof. I'm just saying anonymous
means anonymous. Sometimes it doesn't mean anonymous heavy Yeah, okay, you know,
no, go go read Vinnie's tumbler for more details. Can't do exactly.
I mean when you refer to anonymous as a decentralized organization, like I
feel like even even the term organization is too binding in this case. Yeah,
I think because there is no leadership, There is no manifesto or like
unifying directive, Like they don't have guys at the top going all right,
you guys go bring down Sony while you other guys antagonized scientologists. You know,
it's it's like he runs the bots in the IRC channel, they're the
ones with the power. Like that's yeah, like you know, nobody calling
the shots and that like it's literally a bunch of people on four Chan and
wherever, which we can get away with the stuff. But it's not again,
like there's nobody up there. People kind of directing things, and certain
people have a little more say than other. I'm not gonna speak at all.
I know, I can't say that I know anything other than you know,
hearsay and speculation about what that organization is actually like I yeah, I
mean, I don't think any of us can. It's it's basically like anarchy
and internet form basically, you know. That's with that letter, that letter
from anonymous? Right is that? Yeah? It seems so odd like who
composed it and who vetted it and who is us? I don't know that
you get like jumped into seven communications and then you're like a you know,
they run it past them first and they say, well, we'll attribute this
quote to you, mister anonymous. He's like, yeah, that's fine,
that works, It's okay. Yeah, although let me post it on four
chan. Uh so yeah, I can continue drama and the end of the
story is hey, PlayStation network is still down, still down, still down.
Uh. So, thanks to the ESRB, we know a little bit
more about a little game called Burnout Crash, which a name that we had
heard floating around for a bit. Uh. The SRB has graciously provided us
with one of their totally awesome descriptions of the game, which I'm just gonna
read here. It's like a paragraph. Get ready. This is an action
game in which players earn points for creating traffic pile ups. From a top
down perspective, players initiate crashes by driving car two any vehicles eg. Cars,
trucks, vans, busses into busy intersections. Multiple crashes triggers score multipliers,
and rack up large bills of property damage. Each level is accompanied by
crashing sound, small explosions, and vocal encouragement eg cool and maximum cartage.
In some levels, players are instructed to crash into police cars EG. Crash
them before they bust you, and other sequences. Oversized airplanes, tornadoes,
lobster monsters, and UFOs slide across the screen, destroying any vehicles in their
path. I'm sorry, could you repeat that lobster monsters, But the whole
thing Lobster Monsters, top down, top down Lobster Monsters UFOs. Those are
the three for me. The thing that I takeaway is crash mode because it's
the thing that I missed from Burnout Paradise, but in a product that sounds
like it's gonna be a downloadable thing. Yeah, yeah, that could be
interesting. I mean it's it's clearly it's not a you know, racing or
even driving game at all anymore. But but really the crash mode stuff in
the previous bread Out games was kind of a puzzle game anyway that just happened
to be yeah, you know, played from a driving perspective. So I
just I have to wonder if Criterion is doing this. Yeah it doesn't.
Yeah, Maximum Carnage lops the monsters, then DJ Lobster Monster, lots of
mobsters, some Lobster Monster roles. After this, yes, did not eat
a lobster roll in Boston, still said, Yeah, I got some of
those pills Berry biscuits, you know, the little little get the tube crack
the tube inspired by about a week. I can't It'll be fine. That
stuff wouldn't go bad. Yeah, i'd cook him, would Yeah. Lobster
Monster moster lobs the monster what kind of both, it's a lot both.
I hope there are no lobster monsters in that game. It's just it was
like something that they looked at and said, it looks like some kind of
lobster monster. But they look at it and go, that's a car.
So as E three continues to rapidly barrel towards our face off, astern I
want to go to E three, they could Bungee announcing that they will not
have any sort of official presence at E three this year. So if you're
expecting like a big ass, proper, full on reveal of whatever game they're
working on for Activision, this is then basically saying a not maybe not so
much like they they released a statement kind of saying like we wanted to,
you know, head it off at the pass so that people weren't then totally
soul crushed when E three came in, It's like, where's the Bungee game?
Although that does not necessarily mean that we won't see some sort of teasery
thing during a press con somewhere. Yeah, but no Bungee at E three.
I wonder if that is a this generation game? Mhm. At this
point, God I'm not ready to start doing this, I know every game.
No, I don't think. I don't think we're ready to do this
because we don't have I mean, I still don't think this next generation is
quite close enough. Just not and remember also and also remember, whenever the
next generation comes, they're still gonna we're gonna be covering p S three and
Xbox three sixty games for a little while longer. Yeah, I bet that
transition will happen faster than you think. Monsters not necessari Once it happens,
it will have happened. Yeah, yeah, uh bungee while uh well,
Activision is in the statement giving mood. Uh, they're like, yo,
call of duty. You guys like that, right? Yeah? And yeah
the earnings call? Yeah sure, I like call of duty. Yes,
then you're gonna love the call of duties that we have for you this year,
am I? I hope? I hope, So, I've hope.
So what reason would he have to be dishonest or disingenuous with you? Bra?
It is an earnings call. They can't lie in those openly, right,
What have they got can't've got They've they've got details forthcoming, They've got
modern war for three because there's a fat three in the back of the UK
Official PlayStation magazine in that font along with like the biggest game in the world
is coming back, you know, or whatever some kind of strap line there
that's like all of OODI is returning. Who never mind, I was speaking
in code, Sorry if that If that confused you. Uh. They say
in the next couple of weeks that you will hear more about that that franchise
and whatever they're gonna do with it this year. So whether that means we'll
get details about Beachhead or as Jeff is suggesting and probably very accurately so,
Modern Warfare three details probably both three D whatever that whatever, that third person
game that those the Sledgehammer dudes are supposedly rumored lead working on that could be
still a thing. Yeah, hard to say that. There were some other
rumors saying that they got pulled off of their own game to work on Modern
Warfare three in some capacity as well. So it's no idea. All hands
are on deck. It's right, finish the fight. I mean, you
know, Black Ops is now officially the fast selling game, or not fastest,
but highest. Yeah, it's on game ever all time, So wouldn't
you do. You think they'll just make black more, like they'll do a
Call of Duty Modern warfare, call of Duty Black Ops and start switching those
back and forth, like stick with Black Ops. We're not We're not leaving.
That's our trade off. You mean, like next year there's a Black
Ops two. Yeah, like abandoning the World War two. We found it
other Blacks. It's got to be I think that. I think that's possible.
Well, I think that would be cool. Yeah, there's potential black
Ops like keeping in some of that some of that era. I think there's
more cool. There's cool, secret weird shit from that era they could explore
a little more deeply. There are more numbers stations to find. Okay,
sure, I stand by I think that that at some point the zombie stuff
is going to get broken out into its own game. I totally agree.
Uh, it's it's it seems like it's going in that direction, and they
keep putting more stuff that should be the game that they put out as a
download and micro transact or or sell you DLC forever. Sure, as long
as people will take it and then collected on disc every six months or whatever,
and to sell the people that don't like the Internet or only have a
PlayStation. For people who don't like the Internet and have only a PlayStation three
probably aren't going to be too excited about this. Next news item, Diablo
three beta coming before October and the game might be out this year. Nah
might, Yeah, I'm gonna I'm gonna stick with that game's not coming out
this year. You're probably right, You're you're, you're, you're, you're
probably right. But they, yeah, they said that the beta, But
like it was said before or in the Q three, is that some kind
of during Yeah, during Q three of this year, so to some kind
of blizz Con code, hold on to your thing to get in the beta
scratch card. You're you are now entered in a Blizzard beta. When is
blizz Con? Usually is this before blizz Con October? I thought it was
like this October. Okay, So if they're saying the beta is gonna before
October, then it could launch and they couldn't. Oh well yeah, but
sometimes you have those codes it's like you're upcoming beta. But that's like I
think I got If the beta has to start before blizz Con, then they
can't give out Beata keys that Blizz called. Well, this is it.
Yeah, that's I did. They give out some kind of coaches. Always,
yeah, it's always like you know you'll be in some kind of upcount.
You'll love it when you get it. I think that's how I got
into like Cataclysm or something. It was like from like blizz Con nineteen eighty
seven or it's usually it's usually the previous blizz Con that you remember that cash
received by the bell was there, that was this crazy one. I had
that first glimpse too new Coke Blitz. That's too old, wrong time period,
Diablo. So but between July and September is when this stuff has to
roll out to hit that Q three date that they're spitting out there. So
you may be playing some version of Diablo three and the relative near future.
Cool. Yes, yes, yeah, I'm gonna play Diablo three, Little
Diablo all right, yes, Diablo No, no, oh, Diablo,
Diablo. Don't get it twisted, Jeff, I know you. I'm sorry,
I know you did get it twisted. Don't don't get it. Twitter,
I got it. I got it. Twitter painted a lot there and
I should have probably again, you got a stretch beforehand. Yeah, it
helps. Those are the news items that I have for us today, jets,
let's switch gears into some new releases. Okay, Break is out.
Break is out for the Xbox three sixty, PlayStation three D PC, for
the Xbox pree sixty and PC. Yeah, don't be mean what that's being
a realistic, realistic of if you're gonna buy, like, regardless of what
you think of these types of games, Like even if you think that you
are still like even if you've heard everything I had to say and think like
whatever, that guy's an asshole. I love these types of games. I
want to get, but get brink, Like you don't want to play that
game against spots, oh for sure? Like you don't want to just you
you probably don't want to play the p S three version until PSN is back
up. For sure, there are I would say, don't even don't even
get it early in play against bots, because that has the potential to sour
your entire experience. Like have you curious to see if this if there's I
mean, I don't know if there's any way for us to know or to
find out, but you know, if what, if any impact this this
PSN outage has had on, uh, the the overall prices of new PS
three releases like if if even are going down faster than they than they might
have otherwise. I know there haven't been a ton, but they've been you
know, the ones that have been out have been significant, you know,
between so Calm MK PARTL two and now Brink, Right, I do feel
like there should at least and they probably don't, but like some kind of
like buyer beware thing in stores of like hey, especially for a game like
this where they focus is so online, like just heads up, but no
one knows when it's gonna come back up, like they haven't. They probably
don't have a great timetable yet, you know it it could be tomorrow.
Well, if it's smart, then obviously you wouldn't do it. But I'm
saying, like, if it's not up when you're putting those boxes up on
the shelf like a best Buy, it's kind of a shitty thing. Best
Buy still really wants to sell those PS three copies, I know, no
more than ever. Like you get home your dudes who are going to brick
and mortar stores, You're like, oh, Brink, I haven't turned my
PS three on like three months, like I've been waiting for this game.
And then get home, and you're creating a theoretical person that I don't think
exists. I don't think. I don't think the I ever turned my PS
three on in three months, Yet I am super excited about Brink. And
yet I'm super excited about Brink, and this is the game that gets me
to buy a game since the last time I turn on my three, or
even a person who hasn't heard of Brink but sees it on the shelf and
decides to buy it because it looks cool. I don't think how that box
are going to happen. It's okay, okay, kind I like the cover,
but no, dude, come on, because they'll put it up on
the big shelves in front. I'm sure has probably paid for end caps for
that game. It's it's a big deal for Yeah, I think it's I
don't know. You're right. Maybe it is theoretical, but that's where I
live, man in the theoretical places. Good to know there's nothing theoretical about
lobster monsters. They are a serious threat, and until we all start taking
them as such, we're all going to be living in fear of being dominated.
George, come over here first, What does this look like to you,
I sub kind of crab. I don't know, lobster. It's like
love. It's like a lobster monster. So I'm like a crawdaddy, but
we can fight you, crawdaddy king. I'm just gonna write lobster monster on
here and just like, yeah, I don't know, you want to get
something to eat? Lobster monster and Demolis cartoon cars Uh. Virtue Virtue Fighter
Virtual Tennis Fighter, damn it. Virtue of Tennis four for Nintendo we Xbox
three sixty in PlayStation three, which we will be playing on this week's Thursday
Night throw Down alongside Virtue Tennis two thousand nine Doubles, which is the the
two thousand and nine virtual Tennis game. Oh if you can deal with that?
And I thought I could. Can't? No, No, I thought
not. Uh, this way we can play, you know, it's a
little something all, a little something new. Maybe do some comparison between the
two games, and you know, allow us to mix it up since there's
again no PS three version for us to play. Brad is virtual word it
is now Okay, it's short for virtual is it though? Or is there
some other words? No, it's okay, yeah, something, it's a
it's a copyrightable and and there was a while there that like even some Sega
games, like it's virtual On not Virtua on. That always weirded me out.
I think it was because, like the people that were coming up with
the Virtua games were protective of the name and how it was used, and
the Virtual On guys were a different team. You don't think you don't think
it's too many vowels next to each other. Yeah, that could be the
issue as well, But I seem to remember hearing and I'm just like,
we're beating weird say from decades ago. Maybe that's the proper use of Virtua
as you add an L when it's like after or proceeding avow point and before.
I always love it when people say virtual Fighter, that's my favorite fighting
games virtual I love Virtual Fighter. Where racing yeah all right. I always
thought tennis like it should have stopped at racing and fighting tennis was too far.
Tennis is where I live, Virtual tennis, Virtual tennis like, okay,
virtual tennis, no, thanks. Also, I like to play virtual
cop that is not a video game. Yeah, virtual cop okay, Virtual
cop is also on the list, But basically like anything that wasn't anything that's
not made by Yu Suzuki or is a sequel to a game made by these
are Like, that's an a M two game. I guess, I guess
tennis is also an M two tennis. They that's that. That's that group.
Yeah, okay, it's those it's those lunatics that we're doing this stuff.
So tennis, we're gonna play some tennis on the show this week,
GBTNT on your Xbox three sixty. If you want to play fucking virtual tennis
with us? What if I want to play Virtua Tennis with you, Well,
we will be really playing Virtua tennis, which also happens to be a
game that features lots of virtual tennis. See it's zero calories per can and
it's also a zero calorie cola. Also this week, Lego Pirates of the
Caribbean for Xbox three sixty PSP we PS three DS and three DS. Hmmm
mm hmm. I'm for everything as you expect. Ugo five d's World Championship
twenty eleven for the DS. They still make Ugo games five D Yeah,
five of them. It's for the five DS. Fifty yep, that's where
did my eyes get Old Buggy U m X versus a TV Alive for Xbox
three sixty in PlayStation three both MX and ATV fighting. Yeah, they're they're
not friends. They don't get along. And as Jeff had mentioned earlier,
Gatling Gears, that's a EA play putting that out? Am I completely miss
some arm of Electronic Arts petting that game out. Yes, Electronic Arts.
I can't tell you what weird sub label it's coming out under, but yes,
Electronic Arts published thing. I'll do it. And that's a to my
knowledge, did you release a segment to my knowledge? Ryan Davis, that's
it's let's talk about some emails from listeners. Emails Bobcast at giant bomb dot
com. Here's the email address you can send your emails into if you want
to email us. And here's read your emails during the email segment here on
the Giant BombCast. I think I misunderstood this whole segment. Emails. I'm
in space. The E Shop update is out this month, if that helps,
is it? It's supposed to be out in May, supposed to be
on late May. That's coming up. You're right, I'm gonna say that
we'll get me to turn my three DS age on again. So excited about
that. They're supposed to be sending us a copy of Dead or Alive for
three DS pretty soon here, which I suspect will be the thing that gets
me to turn that three DS back on. Very good, Let's say,
yep, she kicks. I still enjoy that. First emo comes in from
Brian awis in at Cape Coral, Florida. Hey, bomb cast, if
you had to run a fruit farm, what kind of fruit would you grow?
Don't worry about taking into consideration whether temperature or soil type, Vidi Caravella,
you're making a game? Is this? This is a pitch for a
game. I don't want to be a fruit farmer, So Vinnie opts out.
Vinnie says no to your Facebook invite to play fruit farmer. Yeah it
spam? What is this? Who sent this to me? Do you know
you sent this to me? Did you? And then? Oh no,
I'm sitting I'm sending fruit farm or spam to all my friends on Facebook.
I gotta put up apologies. I don't want oranges oranges. Oranges oranges are
good. Yeah, my town has oranges, so if you, if you
have, I want to get some peaches though, how many bells? Just
come and I'll give you some oranges. You give me some peaches like like
I don't want doesn't have to be fruit. That's stipulation subject line fruit farm.
Okay, we had a discussion last week about whether avocado is a fruit
or yes it is, then avocado all right, bathe in guacamoli all the
time. Bananas you can't raise. No, that has to be a plantation.
What are you talking? You said you can't have a banana farm.
The stipulations again, you have a banana plantation if you have to run a
fruit farm. It says, uh. I mean, all it says is
fruit farm. Doesn't care where or how fruit farm. But again, it
can't be a farm, it's plantation. What if it's smaller. No,
if it saw Chiquita to Go display filled filled with the most old looking,
bruised up bananas in the world at the gas station that probably came from my
farm. You don't want no gas station banana? Uh? And I yeah,
I know I wasn't talking to any of you about the Chiquita to Go
stuff. So this is this is my get Patrick in here. What about
Chiquita to Go talking about bananas, talking about you like your banana ta talk
to John Drake about bananas. Bananas, and they're crazy about bananas. What
was your fruit? Apples? Apple, just you know, versatile fruit.
Yeah, it's good, exactly, It's not boring, boring fruit monger.
It's good. Well here's the problem. Okay, So I actually had to
I played this game as a child at one point, really when we were
deciding to plan an orchard on the property that I grew up on, and
we're like, Okay, we're gonna get all these different fucking crazy kinds of
trees you can get, like these Japanese pear trees and all these like kind
of custom like crazy grafted uh, like types of apples and berries and stuff,
bray burns and fujis and all sorts of good shit. Uh. And
I got to have some input on like what sort of trees. Wrong.
I'm like, I want to have a pomegranate tree. Wow, you're ahead
of the time. And I was, because I was weighing a pomegranate.
I thought they were awesome and weird and tasted good. Uh, But that
tree fucking sucked and barely produced fruit, and so uh, you know,
by trying to go very like specific and weird and just and unique. I'm
like, guess what I ended up eating most of out of that goddamn orchard
was sucking apples. It's regular ass apples, well, apples, at least
you can you can rent out, you know, apple picking and stuff like
that. So that's pretty good investment. People love picking apples? Do they
only apples? Though? No one's gonna want to come and pick Jeff's shitty
oranges. I think the oranges aren't oranges. It's really apples. They'll pay
you oranges. You have to pay people to pick those oranges. All right
about weekend picking apples? So about you're crazy? What do I pick oranges?
About bananas? Bananas? Yeah, they're crazy? No? No,
I mean can like, can you can I pay you to pick your bananas?
Go banana pickings? Yeah? It's a craigslist dad, I say you
to miss connections. I think bananas are tough to pick, right, Like,
you gotta get up that tree and shake them that back. Look at
you, brack, because I do think you have to train monkeys, I
think to pick bananas. How cool is my plantation gonna be? Or plantation?
It's a farm. It's the nature's wonder fruit Top five fruits go apples
and oranges. Kiwis really like he was tough because you can't eat the skin.
Yeah, really can you eat that fuzzy skin? Yeah? You could
kind of def weird. I mean, it's kind of like eating a peach.
I like a good peaches are good, like a nectarine, like a
plum, like grapes. Plums are grapes. Grapes, Yeah, my wife
for the like strawberries. But I'm not so you don't blew my mind.
I mean that well, you already kind of talked about it. But when
I moved out here. The fact that everybody has fruit trees, yeah,
even if you don't want them, which I'm guessing you probably have a whole
tree that I don't want at all. I've got I've got like five fruit
trees in my back. I would love to have a different fruit tree because
I would love to have apples. But but I fucking hate pears, So
of course pears are to pay me to pick my pears. I'm not whatever
if you want the pears for free, do you guys, like, do
you have to take care of the tree at all? You're you probably ought
to. I mean in terms of, like, you know, I fertilize
it or like it, you probably ought to. Like that's like you will.
The fruit that my trees puts out sucks because I do not fertilize.
I do not like have like irrigation for water or anything like. They just
get what they can and they grow and they produce some fruit, but it's
not like the premium, like really excellent fruit that could be. Just expose
that tree to the elements, you're not gonna get much out of it.
But if you let them, you canna get a bunch of fruit. You're
gonna get a bunch of she beat. But it's probably bad is if the
rotten fruit just collects on the bottom of the tree, right, that's very
bad news. Yeah, as it turns out, Yeah, it starts to
smell a little weird and you get a lot of bugs. So that gets
taken care of now, and I'm not it's not it's no longer a problem.
But the first year I had that house, fuck man, was a
nightmare. Just mushy, just rotten fruit just everywhere. And it's like,
but there's some cement back there, and it's not lawn it's like you know,
wood chips and crap like that, so it sort of sucks. And
the whole surface was just like it's disguised dirt. Yeah, it's dis guy's
dirt. Definitely composting in the in the sun. Just mean, it's like,
you know, there's there's a ton of raccoons around there too, So
raccoons will be gutting in there and charge them the pick bears. Yeah,
if they would get it off the tree and get it before it was rotting,
like if they could have it, I don't free. Yeah. Yeah.
The raccoons will live in this storm drain in front of my house,
so I have a little I've seen them crawling in and out of storm drains
around that area. That's that's absolutely where they hang out. I threw ice
cream sandwich into one a couple of days ago. Thanks, just keep them
distracted, yeah, like you don't have to. It was I mean it
was a yeah, just like just stay down there. It was a really
crappy ice cream sandwich, and I was like I don't want this. So
it was kind of like a disc is like passion aggressive of like yeah,
oh here's there's sandwich raccoons. Yeah, I take it. You face it,
Moms to come. Next. Email comes in from Kyle in Seattle.
Hey, bomb crew, I just wanted to share a straight situation that happened
Saturday night while working at the register at my theater, which he spells t
r E. Of course that as you will. After Jeff's talk last week
about these snake eyes slash storm shadow tattoo, I had to google it to
see what the hell he was talking about. My childhood was spent mostly during
the Pokemon crazy of the late nineties, so I had very little understanding of
Gi Joe in any capacity. Pikachu bulbosords tattoo, then it's the same thing.
But this little negative information then armed me with the knowledge to suddenly become
distracted as a buff sleep become distracted as a buff sleeveless shirt wearing dude came
up to my register with the very same tattoo on his forearm. Being a
complete idiot, I basically yelled, dude, I recognize that that's that snake
eyes tattoo. He responded in what in retrospect was a veiled, annoyed response
of yeah, it does look like that to seal the deal, and then
promptly, promptly fucked up his order. Looking it up, it turns out
that it's a Taoist Bogua symbol meaning fire and water, and that the guy
was probably a hardcore martial artist or maybe just a Gi Joe nut or maybe
a cage fight. You know who else is a fucking hardcore martial artist,
snake eyes. So thanks Jeff for making me look like an idiot and for
pissing off a dude who could probably gave my skull in with his elbow anytime.
So we all learn where is he working? A theatrey? Okay,
how do you know? Okay, messed up is like popcorn or something?
Yeah, I imagine like popcorn. Do you I bought some? I bought
some jiffy pop like old school like stove top fire like camp fires. Yeah,
make a little aluminum balloon. Rise up, Brad, You looked aluminum
balloon like popcorn pop. It always gets that reaction, any kind of pop
from popcorn with no lettuce, herb, no no lettuce, God damn it,
no lettuce, potato, no ma, no salt, and no butter
on it, just plain ass pot make the Christmas. I gotta I do.
I kind of like the Christmas try corn, like tis right? Yeah,
Like that's that's you know, high end butter cheese corn. And then
like the caramel corn whatever that that's tolerable. But I'm not. So how
are you popping your corn? Jeff So someone saying us a some kind of
bowl here that is a microwave popcorn bowl. You can pop a regular ass
poppuse that thing. Yeah at works. I started like it was sitting around
my house for like the last six months or whatever. I was like,
man, this thing came with popcorn. I got it all right here,
I should just try it. And I tried it and it was popcorn.
And it's popcorn. So it's microwave. You can put regular put regular popcorn
and put it in the microwave for about like four minutes and it pops and
it's popcorn. Think of the savings I make my popcorn. Think of the
savings you grow corn in your apartments? I have. Yeah, yeah,
that's a grain. That's not I have a stir crazy. It's awesome.
Well. Oil. It was always an air popper guy, and then for
some reason I was like, I'm done air pop. I'm gonna put oil.
You know, the oil poppers. Yeah, I mean, and they
say, in this bowl you can put oil in it, but you don't
have to. And I assume just putting oil in it means more of it's
gonna pop because it'll spread the heat around more evenly. Yeah, it's just
it's just to conducive. Yeah. Probably, it's not necessarily like changing the
flavor of it that dramatically, right, I don't know. I think it
tastes a little different. Okay, that's stir crazy has a thing that moves
all the kernels around. So they think, oh, you're talking about the
stir crazy crazy? Is it? So it's good fast? You can use
it when you're making popcorn and like a like a a pot. Well,
no, the stir crazy is just it self contained plugs in the wall.
Okay, yeah, okay. I thought the stir crazy was a thing that
like went into an existing pot and like clamped on the top and then like
stirred stuff around, so you don't crazy. It's like it's like a it's
like a hot surface, right with the thing that spins around and moves all
the kernels around, so they move so they don't burn and and they and
you know, that's the worst part about making a pot. You have to
shake it all the time. Yeah, and then you put a big dome
on top, and then it fills up the dome and then when you don't
just flip it over and the domes the bowl. So wait, is this
device specifically for making popp that's all it does. It's it's the best to
gadget. It's a gadget, that's right, it's fan fucking tasks. You
know, don't like popcorn. You don't get to have a say in the
quality of popcorn such an outcast air poppers. Also do people put their coffee
beans in the roast and air poppers? But that's a gadget. Yeah,
I don't have one of those either. Really, No, I got a
case of da maker. Oh yeah, that's just like a sandwich. I
think of all the sandwich press with different lines on. Think of all the
different kinds of case of das he could make. I can make different what
named another kind of popcorn other than fucking popcorn. There's all kinds of different
like, so this this bowl came with two different types of weird gourmet popcorn
kernels like so like actually different kernels. And they are saying like, this
is going to be a different experience white and this is makes black midnight popcorn.
This is this is a blade between a K forty seven. Yeah,
this is Kate. Want to mess with this. It's get this stuff anywhere.
It's a real body high. Uh. You know a lot of creativity,
not so much sleepiness, no stim spencery grade. I will say this,
I don't know popcorn. I don't. It's the weirdest thing is that
I like all the other kinds of foods that a lot of people don't want.
I think Matt Rory doesn't like locorn. He marked for movies makes his
existence that much more. Think him in him. That was saying that anytime
he ate popcorn he got like a really bad stomach ache afterwards. I just
I don't think it's worth the crap that you get stuck in your teeth.
What's this? This like weird gourmet popcorn as much softer as much softer hole
so they explode into smaller pieces when they pop, so you don't you don't
end up with anything in your teeth. Do you buy a hot dog when
you go to the theater to put it? Because if you do it,
yeah, I hate you. Sometimes hot dogs at the theater. They took
out the hot dog machine from the gas station we go to and did they
Thank God? I think it was crap. Yeah, it was in the
hot dogs were terrible? Were hot dogs? We should go to that bar
after this get hot dogs. I went to the Wiener Schnitzel when I was
in La had got hot dogs there, got chili dog. I ate it
was not very good. I two kinds of feet this weekend. Next week,
I'm going to the Famima every days. Wait, you ate chicken feet?
No, I've had that before. That's whatever. Man, that's feet
old news. That's amateur hour. Four feet eaters like professional feet eat or
eat pig feet? Also duck feet? What at the same meal? Wait,
do you say pig feet pig feet? Do you have to like knife
that? Do you eat it right off the hoof? I don't know it
just picked it up and hated. Was there like a lot of bone leftover
when you were done? There was some? Yeah, I'd imagine like eating
a drum stick, like you just eat it off the bone kind of thing
with the avian feet. Yes, if you have to pick the nails out
of that duck feed? Uh? I can't remember if there were claws on
there, or talons or whatever. I honestly can't remember. That all sounds
disgusting. Yes, that taste has it taste? It was all right,
all right, it's pretty good, Okay, it's it's just it's just weird
when there's I don't know that you've even feet in your time. I'm sure
I've had like frogs, legs. I think I've think I've had chicken feet
once. But they're just fried right there, just crazy fen it depends.
It's like barbecued kind of. I wouldn't think that there would be enough meat
on a chicken. There's not a ton to make it worth your while.
There's not a ton. But chicken feet are a pan cultural experience, all
right. Like that's yeah, enjoyed, enjoyed, buy many many people's you
know, just just ugly American afraid of food that actually looks like the animal
on which it came. But I mean, my grandma ate chicken feet during
the depression because sure I had to what you had. Can't waste the feet?
Oh? More emails, more emails, more emails, more emails.
Movie theater though, what's wrong with the Yeah, that's that's yeah, it's
a no, it's a movie theater thing careful in the same quality of products.
It's just not a place to eat those nacho dogs. Nacho just comes
into the little nacho cup and they're just dipping chips into the nacho cup.
It's not like it's like promp. I don't think. I don't. I
have not seen a nacho pump, a freestanding nacho pump in a movie theater
in a long time. He just put on the hot dog. Yeah,
I had to put it on everything. Hey, guess what this popcorn?
It's not your cheese popcorn. Now, I can't chake it off. It's
just terrible idea. But I can't stop. It's just getting words every second.
It's my other hand. Now, what else I don't know? Emails
about Japanese Shaky Pizza's kit cat crushed pizza? How about that? Like the
Oreo pizza John in New York, Greetings, Bomb Squad, your recent discussion
regarding pizza spheares and cookies. You missed that some fun last week. Don't
tell him about that. He'll die pizza spheres. He will eat himself to
death. There's like a place and there's a restaurant and Rhino that just sells
pizza balls. Is pizza just a round pizza? Yes, I guess.
I guess circular like a basketball, but a pizza. Don't like the scale.
I don't we do this conversation again? Yeah, no, listen to
it. I guess it's hurtful. It's bad, it's bad business, very
but it was all spawned from a conversation about the Giorno pizzas that also have
cookie dough alongside them, so that you can make fucking you can throw one
thing in the oven, then you get pizza and cookies. Yeah, okay,
that's the thing that Brad didn't want me to tell you about. He's
already thinking about it. No, just already locked in for your your birthday
sin food. I don't want I don't want that. I don't want this.
I don't like a sweet pizza. We don't have to make him at
the same time either. He does not on the pizza, separate the pizza.
It's pizza and cookie, though separate on the side. On the side,
you could bake them bo at the same time and imagine they would inform
the other flavor. They're just like two and one, like a two and
one pack. Yeah, it's like it comes with dessert. It's just so
you can run the oven once and you get a pizza out of it and
also cookies. Okay, why not just start adding another ship in there.
I don't know, I don't know, just throw a roast in their bread.
Yeah, well they make that too, they like the Jornos also has
one with like bread sticks on the side, like cheesy bread sticks. Alright,
let's say there's one with wings in additions. Yes, that's that's new.
It's something spell it w y in g Z. Technically, they're not
actually wings, that's right. Really, they're not. They're not they're not
the wing parts. If you're not actually putting real chicken wing in the in
the in the amazing. Why don't they just call it like buffalo bites or
something because they can, because they can copyright wings w y and zy.
Nobody's gonna question, by law, has gonna wonder why you're spelling it that
way, John, New York. Yeah, greetings, Bomb Squad. Your
recent discussion regarding pizza spheres and cookie and it reminded me of a horrific experience
I recently had while visiting Japan. Shakey's Pizza, more specifically Shaky's Pizza's springs
special kit Cat crushed pizza. Based on the photo because the sure shit didn't
try it, this seems like a more of a horror than a regular pizza
with crush kits Cats, as well as a bonus in the form of a
metric shit ton of marshmallows. So yeah, I'll do a little word picture
here. It looks like a crappy pizza with I believe there. It looks
like there is a layer of cheese on top of the bread and then on
top of that there's sprinkled bits of kit cat and like little colored marshmallows.
Is wrong with people, I mean japand shouldn't been letting near pizza. It's
unless we learned a long time ago. So John, thanks for the horrible
imagery. But nah na oh h. Brew Master Andy from Somerville math uh,
the maker of previous Giant Bomb brews right, so to say, gentleman,
I'm hard at work on the latest Giant Bomb brew, the zojerusi IPA
sponsored by Zoejeruci as presented by Giant Bomb. And it really sucks to kaget
and said, you guys some samples that said, I need new beer names.
This is my to do list. Are my two brew list, so
you know what the next few styles I will be brewing. I'd appreciate any
and all names you can come up with. So he's working on a raspberry
wheat, an American brown ale, a citrus, hef of eison, and
an American pale ale. So we got from more crazy beer from Andy Andrew
casually racist IPA? Is there another ip on that list? Is? Is
that the is that the the vinny? Yes, that's casually racist. That's
the viny tribute. Yeah, something casual about it. It's off hand,
it's very off the cuff. Wait what you don't present with a lot of
pumping circumstance. Oh my men, there's nothing racist about it. What the
brown was? The brown one brown? It was beer brown, beer,
raspberry wheat, American brown ale, citrus, have a vison and American pale
ale. I'm not looking for you to come up with anything off the top
of the head. I just wanted to put that out there. Oh,
let's see here actually, and I think that's uh, that's it. I've
run out of emails. Really, yep. Thanks to everyone who wrote in
miss wait, let's run out of here. But that's gonna do it for
emails, and that's also gonna do it for this episode of the Giant Ball.
