00:00:02 Speaker 1: What is about our Happy Hour listeners, It's to me one of your hosts back up, back again, and I am so excited to kick this season up, not only because we have to cover my fellow Minnesota girl Michelle, but I have my other girl Tasia back joining me for the entire season. So welcome back, Tasha, Thank you. I am so excited to be on Happy Hour for Michelle's season. I think it's just going to be able to give us a deeper look into what happened. I have so much to say, a lot of insider scoops, so I can't wait to get down Durny this season. Listen. You know, I love to hear that. I love all the tea, we love the behind the scenes. And I think we've talked about this before, but premiers like Night one is always so exciting, and today's going to be extra exciting because we have the man of the Nights, the man who received Michelle's first impression Rose, which is Nate on today to pick his brain to see what he felt night one, you know, kind of take him back to that moment when he first saw Michelle again and mid all of the men and everything that went down. But like you just said you were there, You lived it alongside of her, so you know much more. You got to know some of these guys much better than any of us viewers will, and so I can't wait to have you on and pick your brain about everything this entire season. Yeah, it's gonna be so fun. I think we did something that was really different this season. We actually went to select few of the guy's room and we're able to really kind of see them in a different light before Michelle even got to meet them, which I thought was really fun and really cool. But we also I don't know if the guys really appreciated it, or should I say a certain man appreciated it, because well we may have you know, Dug a little too hard and found a little something something, which I'm sure we'll talk about this episode, but we need to get into that. Yea, literally, just do it. Okay, let's just start talking about it before we get into the guys though, I have to call out Michelle. It's just radiant, radiant, and we are both lucky enough to have met her in person, to have gotten to know her in real life, and how she comes across on TV. I mean obviously just from the outside, she is stunning, but she just carries herself with so much grace and confidence that I think is going to be really great. I'm hoping for viewers to see that you can still be kind and patient and attentive and just you know, have this confidence. And I think, like we sat fresh out the gate, when the all of the men met her, I think they were just in awe, Like she was glowing. She was glowing. I mean, she completely takes your breath away. But I think also like, aside from the beauty of it all, like she's just a really good person and she's extremely levelheaded and she doesn't need anybody to complete her, which I think she's well aware of. She's just looking for someone to compliment her. And I think that that completely changed the dynamic of just how she was dating all the guys, because the guy's got that sense from her true like they were like, yeah, she's basically the whole package. I would be lucky to be in her life essentially, you know what I mean. And she just she's everything. I cannot wait for you guys to get to know her a little bit more. I watching her the I wouldn't even call it a hometown package. But watching the part where she's sitting down with her parents, First of all, okay, sweet, just to see her back in Minnesota, like the places that I grew up, everything is so nostalgic for me. It's so exciting to kind of see through the lens of now a viewer and watching her being from Minnesota. But the moment where she sat down with her parents and they have this like little barbecue grilled on the back, I'm like, this is so Minnesota. I love it. I'm like, I'm about to invite me and my mom over there next time. We all to get her in Minnesota. It just felt like to me, it just felt like comforting. It just felt like home, which was really nice to see. So that was fun, fun for me personally. But I think because and this is something that she talked about, you know, throughout night one, is she had such a great example set in front of her, like a very respectful, loving, loyal relationship, and I think she knows what she deserves and she saw that in her parents, and so she's not going to settle. She's not going to go for anything less than that, which she made made very apparent to the men that first night and just in her speeches and the way that she had her one on one interactions with everyone, which I thought was just it set the tone very well for the entire night and hopefully, I'm assuming it'll carry through the entire season. Yeah, it does. But let's get into some of these arrivals and the limo entrances showing because Tay, you were there, you and Caitlin were watching from behind a bush, and so take me back to that night. What were some of your favorite guys or entrances that you saw. Okay, first of all, this is it's hilarious, like how Caitlin and I kind of like fine little nuts and crannies to kind of hide in, and the little spot that we were in particular, there was a bunch of broad ants. It was so funny because like we started looking down and my legs were itching. I was like, what is going on here? There was red ants everywhere. So I'm telling you right now, we will do anything to spy in trying, you know, an inside peek on what's going down. But let me think, Okay, there are a couple entrances that I was really First of all, how hard did you laugh when it came to the firefighters, like the one back to back. I was laughing so hard and like, god, I feel so bad for Daniel coming in on like a toy firefighter drug and or a firetrug. And he was like so proud. He was like so excited. He's like, yeah, he's like I came in a toy one. But it was like cute and like she loved it. And the next thing, you know, of course, like a Jumbo the real deal. Oh my god. And he was like is that another one in his face? Oh my god. The whole thing, the whole snip was just like my favorite. I really liked the guy that rolled in on the platter, the all Trey. Yes, we like Rick. Yes. Caitlyn and I were hiding behind the bush and we could hear her screaming from like way back where we were, and it was just like, oh my god, what are they saying? What's going on? Like this guy must be hilarious, And truthfully, I think he just kind of like took her breath away and kind of scaring her a little bit. But it was like the perfect way to make a first impression. I thought it was really fun and quirky. I hadn't seen anything like that. Have you no. I Mean the only other thing that I could kind of relate it to was when James pulled up in the box, you know, because like yes, yes, yes, because they have to stay in it all night for the most part, and I listen, Rick had me cackling on the couch because first of all, I'm thinking, like, okay, think of like being stuck on this little table. I'm just trying to think about like how contorted my body would be for hours on end, and how uncomfortable it would be. But to like pull up to this stunning woman and have her pull the cover off, like he definitely have the best to be because he's going straight up at you know, all that Michelle has to offer, this staying woman, and then he but he like owns it and he just sits in it all night until they finally have their one on one chat. And at first I was like, He's going to walk out and like something I don't I don't know what I was expecting, like something more when he came out, like something weird still, but but he came down and just owned it. And at first, because you could tell when he first met her he was nervous but like trying to put on such a brave, funny face. Yeah. But what he said to her later where he was like, I know it was weird and it kind of freaked you out, but like I always want to be like a fun zone that you can come back to and like relax on these that that was the sweet moment where he kind of won me over. I'm like, okay, I was. I was kind of on defense about Rick and now no, I'm a Rick fan. Well, because like it was actually thoughtful, you know, like a little bit more thought came into it as opposed to just being funny and just trying to make an entrance. It was like, no, like I want you to be, you know, able to rely on me to make you laugh and giggle even when things are kind of like you're meeting thirty guys when you're dating all of us. I just felt bad he couldn't drink the entire night. I was these dudes hask to just hold a cup and a straw to him or something like he's got to be on everyone's poor man? Did you think about that? But um, can I ask you can we get into one of the guys because you touched at the beginning, we need to talk about Ryan Ryan with the documents mister folder Um. First of all, couldn't arn spell bachelorette? Right? Wait did you notice yes, only on the folder. Um, but what were your thoughts when you found these documents? Because you did, you and call them held it in for a while, you waited a day before I would have gone straight to Michelle. I'm like, look, don't let him come down. This guy is calculated. What were your thoughts when you actually found that stuff? We actually had met the guys in day priors, so already, Like, it's not like it could have I mean, I think if we would have found it that day, like on Roastremory day, we would have probably waited as well, just because you you know how that night is that night you already have enough nerves. And honestly, we didn't want to tell her like beforehand, so that way she is putting up a wall and meeting all these other guys, you know what I mean, Like, I really wanted those first impressions to be real, authentic, have fun with it. And so we decided to confront her and tell her about what we had found, um, which by the way, weren't even like hidden very hard. They were literally sitting on the table, So it's not like he was even trying to, like, you know, be secretive about it. It was right there, um and we were like, oh my god, is he doing schoolwork? Like it wasn't really like, you know, we didn't know what he was doing. And it said batchelor. I don't even know how what word that wasn't to be in. I'm pretty sure. But if my mother was watching, she'd be pissed because she she's a grammar queen. She was a teacher. It's like a at least spell show. You're going on the right way, man. I mean you only you only knew for how long that you were going on the show. You might want to try to spell it correctly. But he had he had deep, long notes. He can I to just tell you this so well. He was one of our Everything he said was so contradictory because he was our bachelor for Bachelor live on stage in his city pre COVID. So when Ben Higgens and I were on tour and hosting that show, I remember this. He was one of the Bachelor's and he was a fan. He would ask us questions like he knew all the ins and the outs. He was very calculated on stage. Like so when Ben and I found out he was on this season, we had like a good little chuckle. Ben's like I can't. He's like I can't, I can't, but um yeah. So when he's like, I've only seen two hours of you know, any of the shows and I don't know anything, It's like, which is right now, sir? It's also lie because two seconds later he was like, yeah, I mean like I would watch and see like what she would like, and so I would write it down. I'm like, hold on a second, so did you watch the show or did you not watch the show? And I'm sure micheldon just walk out of Limo saying Hi, I love ice cream, Like, no, you probably watched the entire season, made notes or looked on our Instagram something. Um. It just was very contradictory and he's like, no, they're just notes like nothing that would like ever make it seem like I'm have like going to hit an agenda when honestly that was all that was a full document, full detail like I mean Excel spreadsheet status like front and back, talking about how many pages women do you think? Um? Probably U at least eight friend back Ryan, release the notes. The world needs to see these, Believe me, honestly, I don't think you actually do. I wish I had taken pictures of it Heal and Field because because Jason was listed on one of them, Zach was listed, Jason was listed, Multiple people were listed. Also. He wrote out just mind you because it was supposed to be you know, he was going on the bachelott He was writing notes just to help him right, So it wouldn't really make sense to write what my dream girl is and have I don't know six other celebrity women that look nothing like our bachelorette is that you know, maybe a red flag oh one thousand percent. And you know the part that got me the real kicker for me, where this entire time I was I was like, this guy is going home, like there's no way. The part where he had to write out like his flaws, He's like, you are arrogant, you are this, you are that hold it in. It's like that to me seemed so off. And maybe it's just because I listened to like a lot of weird crime podcasts and read a lot of it into that, like it really rubbed me the wrong way. When Michelle was reading it out loud, I was like, oh, no, him home, honey. I mean like, say he wrote that, okay, or say he didn't because he said that his friend wrote it out. The fact that his friend is even writing you are arrogant, you are all of these things, isn't that also an issue? Maybe you should be like, shit, you really feel this way about me? Maybe I should work on myself a little bit. Yeah, yeah, maybe queen on a very popular reality TV show, it's in the bestment right now. I don't know. Yeah, it was just really strange. Yeah, I'm glad though that she At first I was like, Oh, she's just gonna walk him down and maybe keep him around and see where this could go. I'm so happy that she just nipped it in the bud and it was done. He was out of there. Did he get to drive his ice truck home? No, I'm pretty sure he didn't. I think at that point it was like, no, sir, no more plays for you. You gotta go. Another guy that stuck out to me. Maybe it's just because it's another Minnesota guy was Joe, which I found that entire interaction throughout the evening very interesting because I was trying to take myself back to the mindset of like when I was Michelle Night one, I was in a very similar situation where I had a guy also from Minnesota, who I knew we actually had hung out in a group setting several times, come on the show, and I sent him home even before the rose ceremony. I mean he was only there a couple hours because I was like, we know each other, weren't in the same circles, Like, and now you want to date me? Because why I'm the bachelor at this point, Like it just raised a lot of red flags for me, and I just kind of assumed Michelle would have done the same. But you can tell when she was taking him she's very intrigued by him, very intrigued by Joe Well. I mean she and minuted like she was like I slid into your DMS, like I was actually interested at one point. So I think that she really just kind of wanted to explore that. I also I understand that it was kind of like a it was a really tough year and a half two years, especially for people in Minnesota, and my heart goes out to everyone, and so I was really touched by what Michelle had said to Joe, like, Hi, if anyone gets it, it's me, Like you just had to say the word, and I would have been the most understanding individual. But I think that I'm really proud of her actually for giving him a little bit of a chance and kind of exploring it just because you never know, you don't want to leave a situation being like, shoot, I actually wasn't to that guy, you know at some point, and yeah, there was a little bit of a red flag and he kind of ghosted me. But I think she would have thought about it. I'm not gonna lie. I think she would have kind of said I wish I would have given a little bit more of a chance, and I'm glad that she did. Overall, she has a great looking cast. I'm telling you every single year, the cast but is do not do them justice? And honestly, all of these guys are so tall too, and what is going on and where these men come from? I mean she had football players, basketball players, like guys that was Nate is six eight, okay, m man, and that's not the only guy with hype. It was crazy like looking at one point, I think it was like the beginning clip of the Rose ceremony. You know, when all the men are lined up and there, it just looked so wide because there were so many big, tall bodies, like which I understand usually that's the case, but it just looked like I was like, how many guys does she have? This is like it looks like people filling up this big bass ballroom. She she she got, she got a good crew here. I'm excited to get to know them more and to see them more. I can't wait. Um, I mean, did you know any other I have to say, like, I think this group of guys, everyone is going to really like, they're really fun. They are down to like really challenge themselves and put themselves on the line like for comical relief, and it's just they're great. They're really great guys. So I'm excited. And with that, I think we should just bring on the man of the hour because we saw him get the first impression rows we saw him come out of the limo. He was the first man out of the limo. As you said, he is six eight ladies and gentlemen, like, he is a tall, big man, but he still also came across as just very kind and sweet and kind of just like took it all in. Like he seems like he had a calm in presence. Especially for Michelle. She was all eyes on this man. So I think we just have to bring the one and only Nate to Bachelor Happy Hour. Hi, Nate, it's great to meet you. I don't know, I mean you obviously notation because you saw her throughout the season. I'm Becca, but welcome to Happy Hour. It's awesome to be here, Nate. We are so excited to have you on. Obviously, this is the start of Michelle season, so you are the first men from her cast of guys to join Happy Hour, so you're really set in the tone here, so we can't wait to pick your brain. We saw you. You were fresh out of the limo, the first guy to meet our queen Michelle and the first guy to get that first impression Rose. So now knowing that Night one is over, we've all begun to see Michelle's journey. How are you feeling. I'm feeling great. I'm feeling great, Like, yeah, it's totally good. I'm excited to see how how everything unfolds and to kind of just watch with everybody else. Okay, so I know I was there, Nate, but I still as much as I wish I had, like, you know, a little microphone on all of y'all, and I can hear every single word that you guys were saying. I couldn't hear everything, but you came. Well, I guess I'm gonna I just want to get to know you a little bit more so? Were you a fan of the show before coming on? So I'd only watched one season when I first moved to Austin. One of my coworkers and friends used to have like faschelor watching parties. One and only season I ever watched UM and you know, just just meeting new people within the company that I was working for UM. And so it was a pilot Pizze season. That's all all I really knew about it. That's actually interesting. We do ask most of our guests, you know, how they got on the show, whether it was them applying themselves or if a friend send them up, or if it was casting. But it's always interesting because we get a mix. We get we get people that you know, we're fans and had watched seasons and knew a lot about what already went on, you know, in past seasons and in the spinoffs and everything, and then we get people like you that you know, you maybe watched one season, you don't know all that much. Do you think coming on like only seeing one season, do you feel like that helped or hurt you in any way going into what all is you know on a full season, because there's a lot and I know some people are like, oh you should know intel, and we people like Ryan who have pages and pages of research of what to do and what not to do and what you shouldn't say and do. Um, So how do you feel coming in, Like, were you like, I'm good not knowing a lot of Yeah, it was good not knowing like a lot of like all the ins and outs and whatnot. But I mean, at the end of the day, like I kind of just figured that as long as you are who you are, like, there's like what like just be yourself, you know what I mean? So I kind of like I didn't know what to expect. I didn't have any expectations. I was just like, let's um, let's do this. Let's see if if Michelle not connect. If we connect, great, If we don't connect, I'm not forced to be here. I can leave it anytime I want, because I was super hesitant. Right. Look, it took me and it took me a while to actually like sign the contract and actually like say okay, yeah, I want to do this. Like it took it took a lot. It took a long time for me to be like, I don't know, it was such a weird thing and like it's not like I applied to be here, like the story of how I even got in contact with with with Matteaette. It's kind of like I kind of was like, yeah, I'm not doing it, you know what I mean, tell us about it. I want to know. Oh, long story short. Um. I like to go out a lot, and when I go out, it's more for like the networking and met people. I just love making friends whatnot, whatnot. So I went out on a Friday, I met this guy named Mike Um and he texted me the next day while I was out again. Um, I was at I was at this kind of like pool party with UM with my really good friend from college. And so he texts me, He's like, hey, man, I met you last name that last night. My name's Mike. UM. I think we should hang out. Like I just moved Austin like a month ago. I want to make you friends and I just like your bobs. I was like, yeah, for sure. Well I'm actually at this pool right now. Um pull up whenever you want. Here's the ads. So remember I only met the guy the night before and so now we're now hanging out getting to tell each other better. And he's like, man, like, how crazy is it that? Um, somebody actually reached out to me from mashelarette. Um, they do filming on X date. But I'm actually taking my bars out. He's a lawyer, so I can't do it. Um, you know, I'm just gonna send them your profile. I was like, you know how to do all that? It's kind of crazy. He does it anyways, And um, I get reached out to apply. I'm like, Nope, not gonna do it. Not gonnapply. Like I'm just I don't know much about the show. But I was like, it's not really my personality. I'm kind of more like a I don't know, this is more of a private person in general. And I was like, yeah, there's there's not a chance. And so, um, long story short, UM got reached out to again. I was okay, I'll throw out the application. What's the worst that can happen? And then fast forward it's like, yeah, we want you here and I was like, yeah, I don't. I don't think I'm so And then they were like wait what and I was I called my mom, called my family, called my friends, and long story short, was like, you know what, what's the worst that can happen? Um, you know, Chelle seems like a really great person, and either we're gonna really hit it off, We're gonna connect, We're gonna have a lot of common um and and and it's gonna be like the best case scenario, or it's gonna be two people were great people, but hey, we just don't connect in that way. And I just like the sounds like I'm hell hostage. I can leave at any time on one right. So um so yeah, I just went into it with no expectations, just wanted to be myself, see what happens, and next you know, it was it was it was really awesome experience. That's crazy. I'm not gonna lie. Our stories gonna sound a little similar. Like one of my girlfriends was actually wanted to be on it. She's like, I'm just I don't want to do by myself. I'm just gonna send yours too. And I got the phone call and she didn't unfortunately, I mean against too. No, she was actually so happy for me, which is nice. But another one of my girlfriends also nominated me, so it was just kind of odd and they don't know to it's weird, but that story kind of sounds very familiar. I like that. So so now your friend, this, this new friend Mike is probably like Nate owes me. Yeah. Yeah, so they're a nice bottle of one or something. Yeah, I know he's super supportive though you Actually, I think I was him all the time. Great guys, So I think he's like, you know, what I might have to I might have to apply myself now that I'm like done in reflecting. Yeah, this is for example. So he's now aficianly lawyer, so yeah, sign him up. So coming in, you know, because Michelle was announced back in March, so everyone was aware she was going to be the bad store at coming up. Was she somebody that you were intrigued by, that you were excited about. What did you want in a partnership, you know, whether it was with Michelle or anyone else. What were you hoping to get out of it. Yeah, I mean, like I guess what I was looking for. Something that's like really outgoing. Um, somebody who you know can like kind of be a part of me and my group, and I can be a part of them in their group, and like everybody can kind of mesh well together. And I just like, like I don't really take life too serious. I take life serious when it needs to be taken serious, right, but like just like the ins and outs, Like I'm just like a really laid back, kind of quirky, corny, go with the float type of guy. But again, I kind of didn't want to put I just don't believe in like setting expectations or I'm not setting expectations, but like going into something expecting something. I mean, at the end of the day, like I've only watched one season I've ever done TV type of stuff like this, so I was like, let me just go in there, take a day by day, you know what I mean. Like even during the quarantine period, I wasn't really focused on like day one. I was just like, Okay, right now, it's quarantine. When I get to day one, we'll go to day one. But right now, let me just enjoy my time in quarantine, you know, like I just I just don't think too too far and the kind of set like those um or try and like guess how things are going to be. I just wanted to be like as organic as possible so that it can actually work. If it is going to work right right, Well, let's dive into last night because there's a lot that happened in the first episode, and now that it's all out in the open, we can talk about it. And I'm excited to hear what you have to say. But as former bachelottes, we know how long and and I mean how long Night one is, how exhausting can be, and how nervous you get. So how is it for you, um did you have any idea that you would actually be staying out till the next day, till about ten am eleven am filming Night one? No clue I was told I was gonna be a long night. I was not expecting that, but it was still still something that's like fun to like reflect on and like kind of just look back. You know, it is just a memory that you're definitely going to hold on for the rest of your life. So were you nervous. Well, I was terribly nervous. Oh my goodness. And you were the first man out of any of the limo entrances, Like you really set the tone and A did you feel like you were going to be the first one fresh out the gate to meet Michelle? And after you met Michelle, what was that first impression interaction between the two of you, Like, yeah, no, I had no idea. So we were in the limo, was like the four of the guys that ran the limo and why we work to like I don't know. We we came to the conclusion that this is the first one up, and I was like, Okay, that's exciting that it was a little nerve wracking, but it's exciting. And the way that we were sitting the order. I've been third up, so I was like, okay, good, Like I gotta watch these first two guys go, you know, get to see how that goes, see how long it's supposed to be, Like it's like a thirty second conversation, it's a five minute competition. I have the idea. So I'm perfectly like, I'm gonna be able to watch these two guys do their thing and then I'll I'll I see how the process is. Maybe I can like calm down the nerves, because I swear I was shaking and she's standing right there too, like you see her, she's right. And then last minute we get rearranged and I'm first I'm like, oh God, like this is this is nerve wracking. So I get out quickly adjust myself. I'm looking at Michelle and I just remember just blacking out, like just everything that was coming on with no idea, and I think I introduced me. I was just like staring at her. I think I interrupted her and was like, wow, you're just so beautiful. I couldn't, you know, just it was just it was just like this crazy moment. And yeah, I remember feeling like I was like walking away from her while she's still talking. I was like, what am I doing right now? I'm just watching? Well what they don't prep you for. I remember on our season of The Bachelor, you know they put you all in the limo. I thought it was going to be and this is me just being naive, like because I'm also from a small time episode, I had no idea what TV world was like. I was like, Okay, you pull up in the limo, there's gonna be one camera, a couple of lights, and that's it. I didn't realize it's lighting all around. It's cameras all around. You have so many people standing in the back watching and making sure everything is going the way it should. Like it's a full obviously, it's a production. Like it's massive, and so I don't think they prep any of us for that. So it's you know, you're not only seeing Michelle this like stunnying goddess of a woman in this beautiful gold dress, but you're also seeing all this other stuff happening, and you're like, how am I supposed to be charming and trying to alert when everyone's listening in. It's a lot to take in that first night. I know, it's definitely a lot. Like you're kind of just like like thrown into this this new world and it's just like, hey, go do your thing. It crazy. Yeah, it's definitely crazy to kind of take in and process all while trying to like have a conversation with like the stunning individual so and stay focused. It's a lot. Yes, we were you one of the guys, because Caitlyn and I were laughing so hard. None of y'all knew where to go after leaving the platform, like you were supposed to walk around the foulain and go into the hotel yo, with ten different directions. Were you one of those guys? I don't remember one hundred one of those guys. Because that's okay, So you're gonna talk to Michelle, then you're gonna turn that on the right side of the stairs. I literally did exactly when you told me to. I was just walking around like I don't like it just looks so funny. You're just like, okay, yeah, and then you go commit to that and then no, no, no no, no the other way you're like, okay, you guys looked so hilarious. God, and we couldn't help you. We were just laughing behind the bushes watching you. Did you guys know Caitlin and I were there by the way, Well, I had no idea idea that he always watching you. Um, what was your first impression of Michelle's speech when she came back into the room. I feel like she was just gliding down those steps. I'm surprised, like no one tripped. I would have eight shit walking down those stairs. But um, she like glides down those stairs. And gives this beautiful first speech. What was your first impression of that? Um, Yeah, no, it was awesome, right, Like, like obviously she talked about her family, Like something I really stuck out to me was talking about her parents being together for thirty three years. And that's that's goals, right, Like, that's just beautiful. Like I said, that's what like everybody aims for. Nobody aims for, um, you know, getting married and soon after getting going through a divorce, right, And so I'm saying that I'm listening to it. I'm like, that's so beautiful. That's definitely like what I'm looking for, Um, is that the relationship that bond. And I'm like, okay, so here I am. My parents got divorcing. I was for my mom and my stepdad. They just recently went through a divorce within the last like two years, and I'm like, dang, like I can't relate. I want to relate, but I can't relate. And so I was Actually I think that's like one of the first things that we talked about together was I just kind of opened up a little bit about my family dynamic, Like I have such an amazing family, but the whole like that that happily every ever after and like, um, you know marriages that don't end in divorce. I just wasn't a part of um of kind of like me growing up and and whatnot. So I was I was like, I think our first conversation together was just talking a little bit more family, because it was definitely a little like nerve racking, right, Like she's like this crazy family oriented person. She has that perfect example from her parents, and I guess I didn't really have that, so UM, it was a little like intimidating at first. I just wanted to get off my chest. You kind of saw that in your guys, this first conversation where you're like no, no, no no, I don't really want to dive into this, or like I really don't want to talk about it. But um, did it feel good to kind of have hers like, no, this is like what I want you to talk about and it doesn't scare me away, like I want to hear about your dynamic has that like quality um that like calms you down. She was like a really calming presence. It was nice, nice first conversation. Well, what I said before we had you on is that it seemed like you both kind of I like that you said she had a calling presence because I said that about you to her, Like you just seem you know, especially in the midst of so much craziness in Night one, where there's thirty plus men and you know, everyone's already kind of on edge and ner risk, you don't quite know what to expect. I felt like when you two sat down, it was actually a really beautiful thing, like as a view where I could tell she was drawn to you, and I feel like you both kind of just leveled each other out a bit in the midst of all that chaos, and just like we're very hyper focus on one another in those moments, which was special. Um, So I want to I want to ask you this too. You know you met Michelle, We had a great first impression of her. What was your first impression of most of the other guys, Like, did you feel like, like, did you feel like, okay, some of these guys you know, I can hit it with, like we can potentially become friends if we stick around, or were you just like, wow, this is a lot of different personalities stuck into one room. It was awesome, right, Like, I just I love meeting people. I love networking. I love making friends, like you know, like even how I got here is because I met a guy like twelve hours before, just like had a great time with him the night before, invite him to to where I was next day. Um so yeah, and especially being like the first guy out the limo, you got to see literally every single person outside of yourself come down, um and great guys like I know, like, um, I know that, like Rodney. When I saw Rodney come down as this big brolic dude and his arms popping out of the apple, I was like, guy, he's about things up, Like he looks like like an angry individual, but like we hit it off night night one, like Ronie used to helmey um Peter full of energy love Peter. Um. Yeah. No, it was that first night just getting you see all the guys as they're as they're coming in. It was awesome, Like no no guys that I was like, oh, this guy kind of sucks, like honestly, like like I think even during the row ceremony, like every single time Michelle called a name of a guy who, like I had like a genuine conversation with the God to know, I was like, oh yeah, like cool, I gotta like kick it with this guy a little bit before, you know, to see how things go whatever whatever. But yeah, so I love that mentality where you're genuinely excited to get to know people longer, you know, because at the end of the day, it is a competition, and you know, people don't want to go home right away, but they also don't want to they don't want to see other men stick around. So I'm glad that you said that. That's a really great way of putting that. Yeah, it was. It was a really cool fun on first night for sure, just like because everybody's just excited, Like everybody's nerves are on cloud ten, everybody's excitements on cloud ten, and so like you have to just like kind of lean on each other on like how interesting the experience is. You just got thrown into this new world, and so like we're be definitely all vibe um sure, and it's a lot to adjust to, like right off the bat. Like again, like how you're kind of saying, no one really gives you any direction. You're just kind of like, hey, you're getting in the limo and go, And so I feel like just a way watching you guys all navigate it has been. It's always really fun because you guys our DOORCS number one. I remember watching Guys all on the couch and I was like, these guys are such fools. They're so funny. Like you see, you guys don't understand like your nervous twitches. Like you, I think you play with your thumbs. Don't you play with your thumbs? Oh I don't know. I probably play with my thumbs. Are like, oh, you you tap your knee, that's what you do. I like on my foot, like back. All of you have like these nervous twitches. It's so funny to watch from far away because like you're trying to like hold together. But really you guys were like freaking out inside. Um. But I think when you guys really started getting nervous was when the first impression Rose was kind of like sat on the table or put down on the table by Caitlin, Um, And you actually got the first impression Rose. So when you look at that smile, I look a smile, Um, did you understand the weight of what that Rose carries? Like in Bachelor Old Clue wasn't so I mean first impression Rose. I mean obviously you can assume that it's just boo. Michelle had like a really good first impression of right, yea like the world of Bachelor Nation. No, I didn't have a clue. I didn't have I did not have a clue. Wasn't until Brownie was my roommate. And so later that day he kind of he's like, man, that's that's a big time, Like you got the first impression, Rose, and you kind of told me just like, um, in this it's kind of like Bachelor Nation world. Just how I don't know. People people like to see who gets the first I guess, well, let me take you on a quick history lesson real, real fast. Um. Usually for batched Shorettes there is a really really good track record of whoever gets that first impression Rows is the last man standing who typically she gets engaged too. So I was bachelor back in twenty eighteen. The three Batchlorettes before me, Caitlin, Jojo, and Rachel all gave their first impression Rows to the men that they ended up getting engaged too. And so I walked in night one and they all told me that because I met them, and I was like, oh shit, no pressure here, Okay, it ended up being true. Um, I think since then it kind of went off the rails a little bit and Tasia really weird. Watch yourself. I grow, no, no, no, you didn't. You did not break it. I think Hannah Brown, Hannah Brown broke it, but you had Brown broken but but it went back. It was reset with Claire. But then you came in at a really weird mid season point. So you know, yeah, I don't only have first impressions like I have had one Limo and my first impression did come from the first guy that walked out of limo. Though. Yeah, yeah, but it does it, but it does carry weight especial especially in the bachelorette world. Um, just because I think our pickers as women are a little bit better. So it's a it's a big deal, I think. And you know, I'm assuming probably some of the men knew that. So you probably did have a target on your back at one point where the guys are like, oh, she gave it to him, We got to watch out for Nate. What was going through your mind? Did you have an inkling that she would maybe give that to you? Oh No, not not an inking at all. No, because really, like I couldn't tell you what like for for a very long time. I'm like, I blacked out so hard in our conversation's effort, I couldn't tell you what I talked about. You know, I'm like towards us, and she had already pulled Joe aside, and she that she had already pulled Ryan aside, and then she's walking towards me, and I'm like, oh, no, like what's going on right now? And to me and I'm like pointing to the guy next to me, like who are you talking to? And then she pulls me aside and we go upstairs and and I'm like, oh, first appression, this is nice, this is nice. Okay when she gave it to you, like where are you stoked? Like yeah, yeah, no, it was it was just like, you know, we got to kind of hang out for a little bit longer, but everything was just moving so fast, like it was, yeah, like I don't want to take in we and you not only got that, but I'm pretty sure you got the first kiss. Took this. I cannot we get even right now that first place I was that that caught me off guard because like I've never been that guy to like, you know, how crazy this is just like going for the first kiss Like that's that is nerve wracking, right, I've never been like too too smooth of a guy to be able to pull those off. Um, like what you see in the movies, like a smooth right, Like that's not I'm like, right, okay, date, So I'm not a smooth individual. And so so yeah, she kissed me and you see that like genuine reaction. While I was like I was not expecting that, but boy, am I ever happy? You know? I was like that was like genuine. I was like I was like, oh wow, like just kissed me. This is what a great first night, you know, And and like I remember right joke with her like like you just opened up like can of worms because like every time I see now I'm gonna want to kiss me. Connection was just like like I've never had sparks fly and and it sounds it sounds kind of like all weird to say, no, like like yeah, that that initial connection, it was like definitely sparks. So it's hey, you're talking to two girls that know what that feels like. So you're good. You're in good company. But um, we normally ask all of our guests on this show, what the rose and the thorn of their experience was. So since we're only talking about night one, we don't want to give too much away. Can you tell us what your rose and your thorn was for night one? Um? The Rose were definitely just having like those those moments with Michelle. Um, you know, the first impression Rolls was really cool, but but like just having like those moments with Michelle and actually like getting that first like I guess because because I know, I know nothing about it and I know like the very bare minimum, and I went into this kind of like you know, Michelle is looking for somebody, but I'm so am I right, and I think I think you ask me, um, and not like there's no names that come to mind, but if you asked me, it's kind of like this already, Like Michelle was the most perfect person and she's perfect for me kind of mentality with some of the guys, and I was just like that sounds really nice, but like we we all are kind of like at point one, like we don't really know her just yet. And so that's how I was with this whole thing, is like I want to generally get to know this girl and see if like like we can actually mesh right, and it was it was like the conversation that we had in the moment that we had that I was like, okay, like you know what, like I could see something here, I could see's like it's really easy to talk to this girl. You know, I'm nervous this heck Like it was just it was it was a really refreshing conversation for me. And so that would definitely be the rose of night. Is just like like noticing and realizing that you know, and maybe they're maybe maybe this this is like this was a good idea for me and to of to come here, right. And then the thorn. That was a great night. I don't know what the porne would be. It was long, it was long. Yeah, that have to be the thorn. It was, it was, it was it was a long it was a long night. But um yeah, and like zero complaints, zero complaints. I love them and I can't wait to see how your journey unfolds. And usually with all of our guests, we love to play games here in about our happy hour and we've obviously now had the pleasure of getting to know you a bit more, but the rest of the guys on a season are still a bit of a mystery to us. So you are privy too much more information than us at this point. So in order to learn more about the rest of the guys on this season, we're gonna play a little game called the Rose Goes and Tasha, you want to take it away? Explain how it works. Yeah, okay, so this is how it works. We're going to ask you a list of superlative questions and you need to answer which one of the men from the season best fits the description. Okay, but like have fun with it, like it's not supposed to be like so serious, and we're gonna ask you silly questions and help us rapid fire. Yeah, okay, already you want to kick it off? Yes, okay, who was the funniest ronny that's actually or little Granny Smith? Right Rodney? Right? Granny Smith? Who had the worst limo entrance? Uh, the worst limo entrance? Who would have let me think of some of them? Um, I don't know all of the limore entrances, but I wouldn't have come up with no pants. So yeah, thats about that one. I mean, you saw caitlin I's facial expressions when that happened, And we're just like the man at a pants Okay, who had the best wardrobe, yest wardrobe? No, Garrett Garret was looking fly Garret was I looked at Kane. I know you got he got hurt, but that was the cane. The camera was just nice. Oh he did he really need the came or was that was that part of the ensemble? No? I think he actually need the can, but yeah, really nice can. So who did you find the most surprising most surprising? I mean I have to go with Ronnie again because for some reason, like when I saw him, like, I was like, yo, this dude looks like a troublemaker, and then he just ends up being like the nicest guy in the world. So yeah, Ronnie's surprised there. He just I don't know you that first oppression on when he was walking about the stairs, I was like, Okay, who would you want to be stuck on a desert island with? Um? Out of all the dudes there, stuck on a desert island. UM, I don't know. I have to do with Martin for some reason, I feel like you know how to like patience something you are like, wait, who's Martin again? With the bleach chair? Oh? Yes, okay, okay, I need I need face cards right now because there's still so many of you men. Okay, who called it like it was called it like it was? Um? Who called it like it was? I would have to say, shoot, I don't know who called it like well, I feel like I didn't get a job for that. Good Let's see. Um called it like the like it was. There wasn't too too much drama that first night with any of you guys. Drama. Um, I'm gonna say Michelle for sending Ryan's ass home. I mean, yeah, I think Michelle can good answer. Yes, um okay, So should we go with you? Actually you called it like it was? Yeah? Yeah? Yeah, I feel like, okay, who is the messiest? The messiest? I don't have to go with Daniel. Daniel who would eat like fifteen meals a day and he eats his hands and stuff. He was just he was just there for the protein. Also, my next one was gonna was gonna be who ate the most? Oh Daniel, Yeah, Daniel was eating, wasn't it Jamal? Isn't that his name? Jamari Ja Marty? Is that who it was? With a deep voice? Jamari Right? But Daniel was the firefighter from from Austin. Okay, in the in the real truck or the toy truck in the I don't know. He's one who actually dressed up like a firefighter, gotcha? Okay? Mmmm um okay. Let's see who is the most outgoing, most outgoing? Um, most outgoing? And we're just talking about that first night, right Yeah? Okay, I say Peter. I say Peter was outgoing? Peter? Okay? Who got the most turned up? Night? One was hurt the most? What turned up? I have no idea. Who is the loudest? Yeah, Peter. Who was the voice of reason? What's the reason? That's me? That's me, that's me, that's me. Of course it was. Let's see who was the most in their feelings? Well, what was in his feelings? Okay? Shamboo, Bobby Jamboo? Okay. I feel like I'm already gonna know the answer to this one. Who loved the camera the most? Who loved the camera the most? Peter? I knew you're gonna say that. I was like, if it's not Peter, come on, well, I can't wait to see more of you. I'm sure we'll see a lot more of Peter to come. But it's just this is what we love. This is why we love doing the podcast, because we get to know you men for who you are a little bit more than what we see for two seconds on the big screen. So we were so happy to have you on today, Nate. We're so happy to get to know you and to really just set the tone for the rest of the season. Yeah, no, no, this is this is a lot of fun. This is a lot of fun. Well, good, we see more of you. Hopefully you get a stick around, Take care and we'll talk to you later. Hey, thanks for having you guys. Thanks say tuxy bye, Tasha. I'm so glad to have you back. I'm so glad we were able to have Nate on. He's such a chill dude. I mean he really is just like this, like cool, calm, collected dude, like you would think. I guess you can kind of expect that from him. Huh, well, I guess. I mean, well that's why I would have had no idea how we had him on today, But now I can kind of see, like it makes sense when and here instead of they like him and Michelle kind of balanced each other out and are like these calming presents together. I get it, especially not even with Night one, which is chaotic in itself, but like going through a whole season, it's a lot to take in. And so if she has someone like him to Lena, I could really see it working out. Yeah. Well, I'm so happy to be back on Happy Hour. This was super fun and I can't wait for the best of the season ten fold. You guys, it's going to be crazy. There's so much that's going to happen. One thing that I am excited for is, well, we're kind of not so much in a bubble that much anymore. We have some fun guests, we had to travel a little bit, we got to shake things up. It's going to be super fun. It's going back to how seasons used to be. And I think it's been so interesting to see the dynamic of how Quarantine really shifted the show. And you know, you experienced firsthand when you were in your season, like living in that bubble. But I think the fact that you now will be able to travel to some new places and just have that change of pace, I think we'll just breathe new different life back into the show, back into Michelle, back into the men that are on her season. So I can't wait to see how it all unfolds. I'm excited. I mean, I know you spend some time in Minnesota, that's no surprise. I cannot wait to just see my hometown, the spots that I grew up in. It's just going to be very nostalgic for me. One thing that I will say I'm very interested to see, and it's only because I had a conversation with Michelle before she left is and she even said this, I think night one. She's not like a super emotional person. She's not one to really cry and break down. And that's something that she told me before she left, is she's like, I don't know if I'm going to be able to get there and like have those moments. And I laughed and I was like, Michelle, I love you. You will cry, and it's going to happen a lot sooner than you think. I was like when I was bout short, I was like, I'm not going to cry for a month. I'll be good. And I was like day three I was crying. I was like, it will break you down in ways you never thought possible. And you know, we do see some tears in the teaser to come not only with her, but with some of the guys too, So I just I'm excited to see how everything unfolds. Obviously, I never want to see anyone like really sad and down and crying, but I think that's what's going to get her to the end of this and like, you know, hopefully really find a lasting partner. You have to go through all of the ups and the downs that this show carries with it and just go through all of the motions and feel everything to make it so much more worthwhile. So yeah, you know, I try not to breathe any spoilers or know what's happening, so I truly have no idea who she ends up with, if she ends up with anyone. So I'm just going in blind and I can't wait, you know someone It's more so it's gonna be fun to have you want to pick your brain. Honestly, It's gonna be a little hard for me to kind of like keep a you know, straight face. But I was at the same time, there are some things that like I was in Privy too, Like I was telling Nate, like I didn't get to hear all the ins and outs of every single conversation, so it's gonna be really fun for me too to kind of like put the pieces together and try to like paint this picture for you guys. But it's gonna be fun, and it's gonna be fun having you alongside me. Station. Thank you for joining me again. I'm so happy to have you back as my co host.
